Video Game Violence Essay
Video Game Violence
Violence in video games has been a hot topic ever since the beginnings of the industry. From
depictions of a polygonal frog being run over in Frogger, to stealing cars in a realistic environment a
la Grand Theft Auto, this topic has sparked serious debate. The traditional liberal stance is that the
government should forcefully regulate the video game industry. The conservative stance is that the
industry does a good job of rating itself, and that government should not get involved. The liberal
stance has its points, in the fact that video games are getting more realistic and more violent. With
increasing technology in computers, the video game industry also makes advances in graphics and
what they can display. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Most of the sources I found were psychology journals or publications dedicated to adolescent health.
These articles tended to lean both ways. Some articles claimed that there was a link between video
game violence and violence in real life. Others said that no such link existed. Neither side quoted any
solid sources, however. Many of the medical journals lumped together TV, movies, and video games
in their articles. Most of the psychology journals advocated more parent involvement and more social
interaction. Of the non medical sources, most were news articles. A few used the articles previously
mentioned about how video games and violence were supposedly linked to prove their point. Some
were about courts who had thrown out cases that claimed that video games were responsible for
causing children to commit horrible acts like Columbine. Most of the major news sources tended to
stay neutral on this issue. They only reported games that had record breaking sales or the must have
games. What I was hoping to find, however, were articles that argued from the government point of
view. I was hoping to find articles for and against mandatory government enforced ratings of video
games. However, none of those came up.
As a video gamer, I believe that video game companies should be allowed to freely develop games as
they please. I am personally aware of several cases of extreme censorship. For example, a World War
2 based game was

School Uniform And School Uniforms
School Uniform
School uniforms keep students focused on their education not in their clothings. When all students are
wearing the same outfit, they are less concerned about how they look and how they fit in with their
peers. It s easier for parent and students do not spend time choosing appropriate outfit for school day.
It helps students can only concentrate on their schoolwork. Education is one of the big institutions for
every kid that go to school. Also education is the roots that will help people the rest of their lives and
will bright in their future. Many people believe that each school should have its own uniform not only
to show their pride for their school, but also to prevent attacks by students from one particular school
on students from a rival school. School with uniform is students can t attempts to skip because when
someone see them in public with their uniform they can report them to the authorities, which will
create big problems at home and at school. School uniform has acted as a deterrent to truancy.
Students with uniform show more respectful and doesn t seem bad for others. Uniform can enforced a
positive attitude for students. School with uniform make other people see organize and look
professional. Also it keep school safe and out of troubles. Many students with uniform are more self
esteem. School have less violence, no gang sign of the shirt, every body equal. School without
uniform look disrespectful and it doesn t show loyalty to school. They

Micro-Electro-Mechanical Systems Lab Report
The Internet of Things is continually changing lives and has provided convenient controls over lights
and appliances from houses, to offices, streets and especially, to tracking of habits, health and even the
environment. These things cannot be accomplished without the help of Micro Electro Mechanical
Systems (MEMS) technology which facilitated the development of smart sensor nodes. Wireless
sensor network (WSN) is a group of sensor nodes able to sense, measure and, gather information from
the surroundings, and transmit and receive data from the user. These sensor nodes are equipped with
sensors, a processor, memory, power supply, and a radio or a RF module. The sensing part of the
sensor node determines the application where it will be ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The figure shows the power consumption levels of the power hungry blocks in a commercial sensor
node. In data communication, no waiting time results to an energy efficient communication. Energy
efficiency means less power consumption in a period. The decrease of power consumption means the
decrease of power budget of the node. For reducing power using communication scheme, there are
many protocols that will budget the power where no power is wasted while there is no
communication. It implements duty cycling of transmitter (Tx) and receiver (Rx). This method
incorporates timing to the Tx and Rx which decreases the waiting time. This timing circuit posts
implementation problems such as increase in power, delay, and the probability of error. An alternative
technique is the asynchronous wake up where there is another receiver module beside the transceiver
which is a wake up receiver (WuRx). The architecture of the receiver determines the simplicity in
hardware and power consumption. This architecture will depend on the modulation scheme that will
be used. The purpose of the wake up receiver is to monitor the transmitter or data for initiation of data
communication. The main transceiver is in sleep state except during an initiated communication,
shifting to its active state. The WuRx should have low power average consumption than the duty
cycled communication schemes to prove its advantage. Its operation is also shown in Figure 1.2. The

To His Coy Mistress by Andrew Marvell
Andrew Marvell s poem, To His Coy Mistress is an equally beautiful and provocative piece of writing.
Written in iambic form as a three part proposition addressed to the coy mistress, the poem is
permeated with literary devices such as tone, alliteration, imagery, hyperbole, as well as similes and
metaphors. Marvell s speaker acknowledges the idea that mortality is of little to no value after death.
Through the speaker, Marvell is suggesting that one can avoid the regrets of not participating in the
adventurous aspects of life by seizing the day, thus supporting the Carpe Diem philosophy. The three
part proposition can be identified through the change of the poem s tone as well as the change of pace.
The first argument has a sly and devious tone. Had we but world enough, and time, This coyness, lady,
were no crime. (lines 1 2). The use of the punctuations, the commas and the period, hinders the pace
of the poem. In doing so, it shows the insignificance of time at that moment. The insignificance of
time at the moment is further emphasized when the speaker tells his mistress that they would sit down,
and think which way, To walk, and pass [their] long love s day (lines 3 4). The use of alliteration
creates a carefree tone, as if the speaker was daydreaming and sighing as he was trying to woo his
mistress. Marvell uses delicate and sublime imagery to flatter the mistress with a seemingly
disingenuous exaggeration of her physical beauty. Because of the unrealistic use

Russell On Denoting
On Denoting and Definite Descriptions: Russell s Puzzle Solutions In his work, On Denoting ,
Bertrand Russell proposes a theory of denoting and descriptions, which he summarizes as follows:
Everything, nothing, and something, are not assumed to have any meaning in isolation, but a meaning
is assigned to every proposition in which they occur. This is the principle of the theory of denoting I
wish to advocate: that denoting phrases never have any meaning in themselves, but that every
proposition in whose verbal expression they occur has a meaning. (480) Russell contends that the
difficulties concerning denoting are [...] all the result of a wrong analysis of propositions whose verbal
expressions contain denoting phrases (480). In ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In considering this puzzle, Russell first introduces the principle of the indiscernibility of identicals
(hereafter the indiscernibility principle), which states that [i]f a is identical to b, whatever is true of the
one is true of the other, and either may be substituted for the other in any proposition without altering
the truth or falsehood of that proposition (485). That is, two identical entities can be used
interchangeably in any statement without altering the truth value of the statement in question. Russell
then sets forth the proposition George VI wished to know whether Scott was the author of Waverly
and concludes that, since Scott was in fact the author of Waverly, one can replace the author of
Waverly with Scott and thereby prove that George VI wished to know whether Scott was Scott (485).
Under the indiscernibility principle, both propositions are true since the terms the author of Waverly
and Scott are identical and thus wholly substitutable for one another. However, while Russell finds the
first proposition to be true ( George VI wished to know whether Scott was the author of Waverly ),
Russell concludes that the second proposition, George VI wished to know whether Scott was Scott , is
false due to the fact that an interest in the law of identity can hardly be attributed to George VI (485).
Herein lies the Substitutivity Puzzle. The

A Brief Note On Diabetes Mellitus And Mellitus
Diabetes mellitus is usually a lifelong metabolic disorder characterized by hyperglycemia or high
sugar levels in the blood; can be caused by lack of insulin, insulin resistance, or both. Insulin is a
hormone produced by the pancreas to regulate blood sugar. It controls the metabolism of
carbohydrates and fats that the body used for energy. Without insulin, glucose (sugar) in the blood
builds up causing hyperglycemia. There are 3 classic symptoms of diabetes; the 3 Ps: polyuria which
defines as frequent and excessive urination, polydipsia which defines as excessive thirst, and
polyphagia which defines as excessive eating.
There are two main types of diabetes mellitus: type 1 diabetes mellitus also known as insulin

Typical onset is before the age of 30. Many major organs in the body can also be affected by type 1
diabetes including the heart, blood vessels, nerves, eyes and kidneys. Related problems include slow
wound healing, vaginal infections (vulvar itching), neuropathy, gastroparesis (delayed stomach
emptying), visual and hearing problems, heart disease, blood vessel disease (foot ulcers), kidney
problems (may result in dialysis). Risk factors may predispose an individual to the occurrence of this
type of diabetes such as genetics, exposure to toxins and certain viruses such as the Epstein Barr virus,
Coxsackie virus, mumps virus and cytomegalovirus which destroys the beta cells of the islets of
Langerhans in the pancreas. Type 1 diabetes signs and symptoms can come rapidly and may include
the classic 3 Ps; polyuria, polydipsia, and polyphagia, bedwetting in children who previously didn t
wet the bed during the night, weight loss, muscle wasting, irritability and other mood changes, fatigue
and weakness, blurred vision, vaginal yeast infection, and ketonuria or ketones (acid) in urine; high
ketone levels can lead to diabetic ketoacidosis (DKA). Treatment for type 1 diabetes is a lifelong
commitment to taking insulin, exercising regularly and maintaining a healthy

Sports Teams With Native American Mascots
Well Known Sports Teams with Native American Mascots Have you thought about the name or
mascot of your favorite sports team like the Chicago Blackhawks, the Washington Redskins, or even a
college team like Florida State Seminoles? These teams and more have been accused of being racist
towards Native Americans and their culture. However, many teams do not intentionally use their
mascots to discriminate against Natives. Instead, they represent Native American Tribes and use
names to respect the history of the tribal nation. Others would say that sports teams are just using
those native titles to gain more fans. Also, natives would argue that professional sports teams are
making fun of their tribes because of the decisions that the team has made about the way that the
native cultures are portrayed. People would say that teams with native mascots have lack of respect
towards Native Americans. However, many professional sports teams that are named after a native
tribe are respectful towards the native heritage in ways such as having a partnership with the tribe,
honoring a leader that the team was named after, and even helping out a tribe. Many areas of the world
have been affected because they were accused of having a racist mascot or team name. In the United
States many teams have respect for Native Americans. Counterpoint: Native American Themed Sports

Persuasive Essay On Society
People think of me as a mannequin. All show and no substance. It s not often that someone can say
that they have something in common with a celebrity; however, unfortunately I can. Brooke Shields,
the well known model turned actress that verbalized my thoughts, and I are alike in one way; both of
us have been molded into life size dummies. The object that best represents me is a mannequin. I have
discovered this through universal, personal and practical avenues of inquiry.
Firstly, we don t often think about how a life size dummy relates to us as humans or the impact they ve
had on our society as a whole; however, they play a major role in the way we view ourselves as
individuals and function as a collective society. We preach about how precious individuality is, but
intentionally or not, we often strive to become identical to the perceptions of perfection in society. As
a matter of fact, mannequins are often perceived as a universal image of perfection due to their
figures, the various on trend outfits they display, and sometimes even the human like faces painted
onto them. As young children, whenever we go shopping with our parents we would stumble across
displays that would showcase little boys and girls with cool , new outfits and toys and we would
attempt to convince our parents to buy them. As we get into our teen years, often as girls, we see the
mannequins as constant reminders of what we strive to be based on whatever the ideal body type may
be in the present

Comparing Confucianism and Islam
Although Islam and Confucianism represent two totally different worldviews, they have similar
characteristics, which provide a potential idea, that both can be from a common source. Mirza Tahir
Ahmad, who was a Caliph in Ahmadiyya Muslim community, supported this idea in his book
Revelation, Nationality, Knowledge Truth . He supports his idea saying, All humans are God s
creation; it stands to reason that God not only guided people in the Middle East through Abrahamic
prophets. He also guided other people through prophets like Confucius, Buddha and Zoroaster. His
claim is based on the existence of common themes between Islamic and Confucian teachings. Another

Confucianism is one of the main influential ideologies on the Chinese culture. The founder of this
religion is Confucius; he was a Chinese teacher. He taught traditional disciplines at that time, and
believed that he could change the order of the Chinese society. He has different principals in life. First,
Li: It is the medium within which to talk about the entire body of the mores, or more precisely, have
the authentic tradition and reasonable conversations of society . In other words, li is the social rituals
between people and they are divided into different categorized relationships like father and son, filial
piety, between brothers, husband and wife; Ruler and subjects, and between friends. The Second
principal was Jen, which is humaneness; it describes the inner personality of a person and that people
should practice respect to one another. Li and Jen are values that complete each other to create the
superior man, according to the Confucius. Also, Confucius believed in the spirits but keeping them at
a distance. There are Five Classics and the Four Books are regarded as a reference for Confucianism.
Since the main idea of Islam is to believe in God, who created all human beings. Therefore, the first

Young Goodman Brown: Losing Faith in Humanity from the Art of Deception
Since the beginning of time, there has always been day and night, evil and light. Throughout history,
the basis of good versus evil has emanated. Good and evil has etched its place in every culture
whether taught through passed down stories, depictions written on tablets, stones, or parchment paper.
In the story, Young Goodman Brown, Hawthorne reveals the traveler as a figure that highlights one
goal. Emphasis is placed on the traveler s methodology as he employ s several techniques to
manipulate and deceive the vulnerabilities of Goodman Brown. Hawthorne carefully stresses the
traveler s demeanor, features, setting and communication methods in detail. What is Hawthorne trying
to say about the intricate interaction between Goodman Brown and the traveler?
The traveler patiently awaits Young Goodman Brown as he always has, because the traveler is not
governed by the same limitations as man. The traveler, being demonic, has a purposeful goal in mind:
to kill, steal, and destroy while praying on Goodman Brown s vulnerabilities to achieve his hidden
agenda. The traveler s skill in persuasion is hard to overcome as he comes across as normal, trustful
and believable. Young Goodman Brown approaches with hesitation in the darkness as he seems
haunted and reluctant making his way through the woods. Purposefully, The Traveler is cunning and is

A Brief Note On The Conservation Of Ruins
CONSERVATION OF RUINS A heritage ruin is defined as a disused and incomplete place comes in
all shapes and sizes, that through abandonment, redundancy or condition, usually no longer
maintained and unlikely to serves its original function or purpose other than interpretation (Australian
Heritage Council, 2013). Rizzi, added the definition of ruin from architectural point of view: A
building which having lost a substantial part of its architectural form has ceased to function as such.
Elementary, but full of implications: a building that has lost its natural defences (roof, windows,
plasters, etc), unarmed against the ravages of atmospheric agents and consequently more vulnerable to
the destructive effect of time; A building that has stopped to fulfill its functions, to shelter human
activities and which, in a sense, has begun its journey towards progressive decline and final
disappearance . (Rizzi 2007, p.xx). Although the term ruins implies the abandoned condition of the
building materials, this condition does not resemble the loss of heritage values embedded to it
(Australian Heritage Council, 2013). For this reason, it is obvious that heritage ruins are equally as
important as any other historic building survived. It is the evidence of past human activity; a shared
resources that retain important heritage values, and potentially possess tangible and intangible heritage
attributes (Drury and McPherson 2008, Australian Heritage Council 2013). During the last

I run. Out of emotion, almost every one you can think of. Love, anger, joy, frustration, excitement, and
so much more. Most people who are not runners, ramble questions along the lines of How do you

think, a time to pray, and a time to get to know myself better. Yes, completely exhausting myself is the
most relaxing, refreshing part of my day. I run. Between 5 and 8 miles a day, and most of the time my
best runs are on the days where I really didn t really want to get off the couch, but I did anyways.

Fighter Interceptor Wing
Introduction Just shortly, after the end of World War II the United States Air Force realized they
needed a fighter jet to replace the highly popular P 51 Mustang. North American Aviation Corporation
was granted the contract to build these medium range, single seat, high altitude, multi purpose fighter
jet/bombers. There were over 6,000 of the jets produced between the two facilities in Los Angeles,
California and Columbus, Ohio. This plane was the first United States jet fighter with swept wings,
which allowed it to unofficially break the sound barrier on 1 October 1947. Five years later,
Jacqueline Cochran became the first woman to break the sound barrier flying a Canadian variant of

As the technology advanced in China and North Korea the MiG 15 came in to play and was far more
superior than the piston engine aircraft the United States and UN forces were flying. One of the most
significant things about the MiG 15 is that with its superiority over the P 51 Mustang the United States
Air Force had to keep all of the B 29 Superfortress grounded due to the lack of security. The B 29
Superfortress had been a major game changer in World War II. The B 29 was designed for the high
altitude strategic bomber role. One of the B 29 s final roles during World War II was carrying out the
atomic bomb attacks on Hiroshima and Nagasaki. After the F 86 Sabre was introduced in Korea, they
patrolled the area just south of the Yalu, the so called Mig Alley, in long figure eights, always turning
towards the north to keep from being surprised. The F 86 Sabre s and the MiG s were evenly matched.
Both had 6,000 pound thrust jet engines, and could go supersonic in a dive. The MiG was smaller, and
it could climb higher and faster. The Sabre was faster in level flight and in a dive, had a greater range,
and could turn tighter in a fast dive. The Sabre carried six 50 caliber machine guns, while the MiG
relied on a single 37 mm and two 23 mm cannon. (Sherman, Acepilots, 2011) With the facts that were

Summary Of Margaret Mead s Coming Of Age In Samoa
In Coming of Age in Samoa, by Margaret Mead, she exemplifies and puts emphasis on the idea of
socialization through the view of the Samoan girl, and we also see what her sexuality is as she
becomes an adult and has to deal with marriage. Before reading the book I never knew that different
cultures like the Samoan culture viewed everything in their daily lives different than how we view it in
ours. After learning about the Samoan culture in the book, it gave me a new perspective and how to
view the world around me because the book discussed key concepts I didn t expect to be interesting.
The Samoan culture and how socialization turns into sexuality for young girls is very different
compared to our culture. In the Samoan culture sexuality in Samoan girls is seen differently than we
see it in our culture today. Margaret Mead elaborates on this idea because of how she views the
sexuality of a Samoan girl when she mentions Virginity is a legal requirement for her (Mead 69).
When Mead discusses this, it is interesting how in that culture virginity is a requirement and that is
something we don t see as a requirement in our society today. This demonstrates how the sexuality of
a Samoan girl is not the same as we see it. The way girls are seen because of their sexuality is
incomparable to girls in our society today and that s important to observe since Samoan culture is by
far very different to what we view as part of culture today. In Samoan culture, socialization is an

Solutions to the Problem of Domestic Violence Essay
Domestic violence is skyrocketing in our society. In the U.S., as many as 1.5 million women and
850,000 men were physically assaulted by their intimate partner last year, and numerous children
abused by their parents. These sad criminal acts will continue to grow in our society, unless our
community takes action to stop these crimes. First of all the most important tool we have available
against this type of crime are the authorities, which include the police department, hospital, and social
workers. If they manage to work together as a team to make the whole process of protecting a victim
more efficiently, it will encourage victims to actually phone for help. It is believed that over half of the

Now, after everyone is settled and calmed down, it is essential for the authorities to investigate exactly
what happened and interview people to find out if there actually had been signs that acted as warnings
for the events to follow. Authorities have to be extra careful in their research, since many wives just
make up a scenes and stories, in order to get their innocent husbands into jail, so that they can live
together with their lovers, and get the money and houses, while their husbands spend their time in jail
with mass murderers! The actual happenings described above are extreme solutions for victims, and
are highly effective, but usually the victims feel cautious about causing such trouble to their offender,
since they fear that they will be released from prison some day, and get their revenge. Bearing this fact
in mind, society must also offer other means of supporting a victim, which are not as radical. A simple
hotline can work wonders in offering victims simply someone who is qualified to talk to, and can offer
honest advice and back up. The sufferer can phone up for free, and just try to calm down after the
crime is committed, deciding on what should be done next. In addition to handling just victims calls,

Job Shadowing Reflection Paper
On Wednesday, December 23, 2015 I job shadowed Tara Woodhull for the job shadow part of my

lot more equipment. Also, there were other people available in the place to help. Tara had no assistant
and did all of her decorating herself.
When I entered the store, she was creating her batch of frosting for the day. She made her frosting
with marshmallow fluff instead of Crisco (which was how I was taught to make frosting). When I
asked her the reason she swapped the Crisco for marshmallow fluff she said; Buttercream is far too

Commonwealth Gin is a 3rd generation family company, and during the tour the facility located
Windsor, VA. was visited. Chris was the person who toured the group through the facilities. He
mentioned that, in early years, the family was in the business of grains, but they decided to search for
different horizons and built something different than grain productions. They were tired of producing
grains, and in the process of looking for a different crops and opportunities they decided to start cotton

It Is Stated That General Leonard Wood Never Kept Quiet
It is stated that General Leonard Wood never kept quiet in any job that he ever held during his thirty
five years of active federal service in the United States Army. When there was work to do, he has done
it, from chasing Indians all over our great Southwest back in the eighties and over a good slice of
Mexico s northwest, to teaching Cuba how to rule herself. (Sears, 1919) He was not known for sitting
back and just earning his paycheck . Instead, he chose the more challenging jobs like building new
training camps for officers and teaching preparedness to the soldiers of the late war. Through his work

It was as Chief of Staff that General Wood made his greatest contributions to the Army and the Nation.
He strengthened the General Staff and firmly established the Chief of Staff as the senior officer of the

He was instrumental in developing the Maneuver Division and the Mobile Army concept. As a result,
the Army formed its first truly combined arms divisions. This allowed the American Army to fight as a
force in the battles and campaigns of the Great War, WWI. (Homle, 1920) Following the war, General
Wood was chosen to be a candidate for the Republican Party for President. Although he was not

Governor General of the Philippines. Leonard would hold that position until his death on August 7th,

Government Control and Free Will in A Clockwork Orange ...
A Clockwork Orange, a novel written by Anthony Burgess in the 1960 s takes place in dystopian
future in London, England. The novel is about a fifteen year old nadsat (teenager) named Alex who
along with his droogs (friends) commit violent acts of crime and opts to be bad over good. In time,
Alex finds himself to be in an experiment by the government, making him unable to choose between
good and evil, thus losing his ability of free will, and being a mere clockwork orange. A clockwork
orange is a metaphor for Alex being controlled by the government, which makes him artificial because
he is unable to make the decision of good verses evil for himself and is a subject to what others
believe is right. In A Clockwork Orange, Anthony Burgess ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Finally, at the end of the novel in Part Three, Alex is cured and has reverted back to his previous state
of having a choice between being good or evil, thus acquiring that sense of free will once more.
In part one of the novel, we witness the ability of free will that Alex possesses and his ability to
choose between good and evil through contrast presented by darkness of night and lightness of day. At
the beginning of the novel, Alex and his droogs (friends), Pete, Georgie, and Dim are at the Kovova
Milkbar, roaming the streets and committing violent acts during night. Alex and his droogs encounter
an old man who is drunk and is singing a sentimental song. Alex instantly chooses the path of evil
with the free will that he encompasses, and along with his droogs they beat the old man while
laughing at his misery. The old man complains about the stinking world and says, It s a stinking world
because it lets the young get on to the old like you done, and there s no law nor order no more. (Part 2,
Chapter 2, Page 12) At night, Alex uses violence and chooses to beat, rape, and murder innocent
people because it shows that he has freedom of choice and has authority and power in society. Alex s
interpretation of darkness and night is, The night belonged to me and my droogs and all the rest of the
nadsats (teenagers), and the starry bourgeois lurked indoors... (Part 1, Chapter 4, Page 33). In contrast,

The Phallic Journey
To be accepted is to be loved. In our society it is common to put up walls, wear masks, and remain
silent on conversations that we feel passionate about. This form of defense helps to maintain
relationships. Though it is unfortunate but the truth hurts and can divide not only a family, but a
nation. This paper explores the feeling of being unaccepted in your community, by your loved ones,
and from your own self. The movie Transparent (Rosskam, 2010), followed the lives of multiple
individuals all experiencing one thing in common, being transgender. Though their stories differed

St. Paul s Letter To Colossians
Throughout the history of religion, there have been men who have left a remarkable works to the
world. St. Paul who accepted the calling of God to be his disciple is one of these great men. He has
written a prestigious letter to the community of Colossians in order to correct their beliefs. In this
work I will try to investigate the background of the letter, and discuss the motivation that caused St.
Paul to write to this letter to the community of Colossians.
Background
According to history, Paul writes this letter to the Colossians who has embraced the doctrine of Jesus
Christ. This letter was written to the Christians of the city of Colossae that Paul never visited. The

He wrote to warn the Colossians of the danger of returning to their old beliefs and practices. He also
refuted the false teaching that was threatening this congregation. The outstanding Christian doctrine
with which this letter deals is Christology which means that Jesus Christ is the high truth and is our
savior and nobody outside him can save them. His main purpose was to let the community of Colossae
know that Jesus Christ has absolute authority. He invited the Community of Colossae to seek an
encounter with Jesus Christ, and when they have the encounter, they will know Jesus Christ is
supreme truth. Jesus has to be the center their life. Paul exhorted them to base their trust in the Word
of God rather than in human traditions that do not accurately reflect biblical revelation. The matter of
paramount importance to the church is its doctrine of Christ. Our Christian life and service will flow
from our doctrine of Christ. Not only must Christ take a place in our lives, but our understanding must
be exact in Jesus. We can avoid all the errors of which Paul warns us in this epistle by maintaining an

Abstract
An individual s personality is what makes them unique. How people s personalities are developed is
based on years of research and theories. This paper will discuss some of those theories and dig into the
research of personalities.
Personality amp; Concepts * * How I define personality * Personality is what makes a person unique.
Personality is also what makes a person similar and different from others. Our personality is what
makes us who we are, the reason we make the decisions we make, and why we act the way we do.

experiences throughout my life have shaped my personality and given me the ability to adapt.
Growing up less fortunate gave me the ability to appreciate the small things that are often overlooked
by others. While deployed with the Marines, my experiences gave me an outlook on life that can t be
acquired anywhere else. Seeing different people s situations and struggles gave me a deeper
appreciation for what I have and can acquire. * Are your personality features consistent? * My
personality features definitely change with different situations. In most situations my main goal is to
achieve comfort for myself and the people I m interacting with, and doing so without compromising
who I am. I thrive off change and variety. * * Personality test and their expectations * I ve taken a
personality test before and was amazed by the accuracy of the results. I believe the results were about
80percent correct. A personality test relies on so many factors, like how you were raised, what you ve
been exposed to throughout your life, what your familiar with, what you re scared of, what makes you
happy and nervous, the type of day your having, the mood you re in at that moment, and honesty.
Most people don t want to score bad and end up with un attractive results, so they will answer

Credit Card Is A Problem For College Students
Credit card is a major problem for college students in the US because it can easily get out of control.
When a student gets himself into trouble with a credit card because of huge debts it becomes harder to
pay off all the amount of money you owe to the bank. For example if someone get $5,000 of debts and
the credit card carry an average rate of 18% percent and this person only makes the monthly minimum
payment of $100, it would take 8 years and cost nearly $10,000 to pay the card off. Many students
find the lure to buy now and pay later tempting very tempting but it s a bad approach if you want to
successfully manage your credit card. There s a lot of dangers lurking behind that kind of mentality.
College students should be careful with credit cards because it is easy to get into debts that can last a
long time, furthermore college students who have been informed about credit card management
should be able to handle one.
It is really risky for college students to have credit cards and it is really easy for students to obtain one
which makes a risky combination. Credit card companies will target college students because as
students grow and their income become larger, they will become great customers. Even though credit
card companies know that many students with little to no credit history would not be able to get a card
they make them their target anyway because they realize their potential to make money. Many
students lack of financial experience or education leads to

Numericus Sphaericus Essay
Lysinibacillus sphaericus (formerly Bacillus sphaericus) has been used as an alternative strategy to
control mosquito s population because it is harmless to humans and other non target organisms.
Extensive studies have demonstrated the larvicidal activity of the binary toxin, which is the core of the
bacterium s toxicity. Binary toxin is produces as parasporal crystals during sporulation, and
specifically binds to a single class of receptors, α glucosidases, in larvae midgut. Because L.
sphaericus toxicity is based on only one kind of toxin, high level resistance against the bacterium was
observed in the field [1]. One of approaches to manage binary toxin resistance is the utilization of
binary toxin in combination with other mosquitocidal toxins, among those are toxins from Bacillus
thuringiensis, and from B. sphaericus itself. Beside the spore associated binary toxin crystals, B.
sphaericus also produces soluble mosquitocidal toxins Mtx1, Mtx2 and Mtx3 during vegetative
growth, whose applications have not been as thoroughly explored [1]. ... Show more content on

Essay about Comparing The Epic of Gilgamesh with The Odyssey
The Epic of Gilgamesh and The Odyssey both are held in high respect by literature analysts and
historians alike for the characterization of the hero and his companion, the imagery brought to mind
when one of them is read, and the impressive length in relation to the time period it was written in.
The similarities that these two epics share do not end with only those three; in fact, the comparability
of these works extend to even the information on the author and the archetypes used. However, The
Odyssey and The Epic of Gilgamesh contrast from one another in their writing styles, character
details, and main ideas. Both epics weave together a story of a lost man who must find his way, but the
path of their stories contrast from one another. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In these two epics, the major themes are the concept of good versus evil and the conflicts of man
versus man, man versus self, and man versus nature. In The Epic of Gilgamesh, the King of Uruk
represented good while Humbaba and the snake represented evil. Compared to The Odyssey, the
Sumerian epic consists of a smaller representation for both good and evil. Odysseus represented good,
but so does his son, Athena, and many of the gods that help him. Antinous, the rest of the suitors,
Polyphemus, Circe, as well as many others were on the evil side of the equation for this epic. The
concept of good versus evil coincides with the conflict of both man versus man and man versus self.
Odysseus and Gilgamesh both engaged in both types of conflict, but Gilgamesh experienced more of
the latter conflict while Odysseus experienced more of the former. Odysseus s adventures involved
more of man versus man conflicts because of how often he had to fight a physical being. For example,
Odysseus and his men blinded Polyphemus by ramming a hot spear deep into his [Polyphemus] crater
eye (qtd. in Prentice Hall Lit. 992). In addition, Odysseus and his son, Telemachus, had to fight off
more than a hundred suitors near the end of the epic. Gilgamesh had plenty of experiences with man
versus man conflict, such as his first fight with Enkidu, his fight with Humbaba, as well as his
arguments with the gods. However, the man versus self conflict seemed

Inconsistency Essay
in the Groundwork. The first type of inconsistency or the internal inconsistency of the maxim relates
to the fact that, as we noted earlier, maxims are principles of action in that they provide directives that
we intend to realize; this intention is what we mean when we say that we have willed the maxim. The
conceptual or internal contradiction, to which O Neill refers, emerges when what we intend
incorporates something that is not possible. For example, one cannot will success and stay detached
from the world at the same time. However, one can consistently will success in public life and yet not
interact with others in private life. O Neill sees this kind of schizophrenic willing as problematic, but

However, this view seems problematic since specific intention is always compared with underlying
intention. This difficulty in O Neill s view particularly runs afoul of empirical practical reason, while
for Rawls and Kant it does not mesh with the hypothetical imperatives. According to Kant, if one wills
a particular end, one also wills the necessary and indispensable means to secure that end. A practical
inconsistency occurs if the means (specific intentions in this case) are incompatible with the maxims
(the underlying intention) which they are meant to serve. Consider the coffee example discussed
previously: if a maxim of serving my guest coffee is my underlying intention, then, if I adopt the
ancillary and specific intention of preparing and offering coffee combined with another specific
intention of drinking all the coffee myself in front of my uncomfortable guest, I fall into

How Modbus Is A Type Of Communication
Modbus is a type of communication among many devices connected to the same network, for example
a system that measures temperature and humidity and communicates the results to a computer.
Modbus is often used to connect a supervisory computer with a remote terminal unit (RTU) in
supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) systems. [17]
In simple words, it can be explained as a method used for transmitting information over the lines
between electronic devices. The device asks the information is called the Modbus Master and the
devices supply information is Modbus Slaves. In a standard Modbus network, there is one Master and

3.2 Internet Protocol
The Internet Protocol (IP) is the method or protocol by which data is sent from one computer to
another on the Internet. Each computer (known as a host) on the Internet has at least one IP address
that uniquely identifies it from all other computers on the Internet.[18]
While data transferred in a network, is sent or received(for simple understanding, an e mail note or a
Web page), the message is divided into little pieces called packets. Each of these packets includes both
the sender s internet address and also the receiver s internet address. A packet is firstly sent to a
gateway computer which is the first station of the Internet. The gateway computer reads the
destination address and forwards the packet to an higher gateway which reads the destination address
and transfer it over the internet until one gateway recognizes the packet as belonging to a computer
within its area or domain. The packet then is sent by gateway directly to the computer which address
is specified.

Research Paper On The Explosion Of The Sultana
The explosion of the Sultana How is it possible that over 1,700 people could die and it not make it to
the front cover of the newspapers? This seems impossible, but that s exactly what happened back in
1865. April 27, 1865 the Sultana exploded and over 1,700 people were killed. Sad to say but this event
barely made it to the newspapers because of Abraham s Lincoln s death. At the time of this event a
war had just ended and Abraham lincoln had just died and everyone was worried about the funeral at

Price is the value which is paid by the buyer to the manufacturer against the products and services. It
is the value of the product mentioned by the seller to the consumers Pricing decisions are one of the
crucial factors that shapes by cost factors, profit margin, and possibility of sales at different price
levels and the competitor s pricing policy as well as with the number of existing competitors in the

In present times, loss leaders pricing technique has become the popular method of sales promotion of
product. The purpose of making a product loss leader is to encourage customers to make further
purchases of profitable goods while they are in the shop. Departmental Store or Retailers used to adopt
this strategy for increasing the foot fall in store.
Pricing is a key competitive weapon and a significant part of the marketing mix. If a business reduced
its prices than competitors, new customers may be attracted and existing customers may become more
loyal. Hence using a loss leader pricing can help to divert loyal customers. Using a loss leader is a
short term pricing tactic for any product.
One risk of using a loss leader pricing is that customers can take the opportunity to bulk buy . If the
price discount is sufficiently enough, then it makes sense for customers to buy as much as they can

Bumper Stickers Pest Analysis
I would want potential voters to view the sticker as a clean, organized statement. I utilized serif font to
portray a more sophisticated delivery to my bumper sticker. By using serif, the overall effect of the
bumper sticker has a more confident, strong feel. If I had used sans serif it would have given a more
causal display, something I would not want people to infer from my presidential bumper sticker. The
powerful, bold font is easy to read and come off as strong;or something that could stand alone. The
kerning of the sticker, I feel, is just right. It is not too far apart so it is hard to read or too close together
for the eyes to read. To read a bumper sticker effortlessly, is something all politicians should utilize.

America s Meat Industry Hides From The Consumer
America s meat industry hides from the consumer, according to Michael Pollan, author of The
Omnivore s Dilemma. The consumer, as well as corporations, have built walls instead of demanding
transparency. Journalists and the general public are not permitted to enter abattoirs of many
corporations, leaving the judgement of slaughtering methods to the businesses themselves. State and
federal regulations aren t always enforced, thus corporations decide what is humane . Profit
organisations find the most efficient and lucrative system, yet ignore the secondary costs to natural
systems. Pollan argues that in preventing abuse, only transparency holds businesses accountable to
regulations. He states in Omnivore s Dilemma, No other country raises and slaughters its food animals
quite as intensively or as brutally as we do . Many Americans would disagree because they are
ignorant of the system. We have chosen not to see what really happens to the animals we eat,
understandably, due to the unpleasant truths Pollan uncovers. As a summary, slaughterhouses kill a
steer by stunning it, hanging it upside down by its leg and bleeding it out by cutting its throat.
However, (according to McDonald s) they accept a five percent error rate, meaning when the first
stunning does not kill the animal, the steer continues along the conveyor belt for processing. Animal
rights group s accounts have revealed that live animals have been skinned alive and go through
immense suffering. Despite the

Symptoms And Treatment Of Cardiovascular Disease
Picture this, one bright afternoon a mother and daughter are having a calm, relaxing day in their local
park. They come across a park bench and decide to sit down. Soon thereafter the mother begins to
clutch her chest in agony. The pain of having her daughter watch her agony must have been even more
excrutiating. She is fully involved in her first ever heart attack. Unlike sudden cardiac arrest, this
woman was experiencing a myocardial infarction. The mother was walking, talking and conscious
even despite the horrific symptoms that occurred on that horrible day (Hamrick). So don t let this ever
happen to you. Follow the simple steps to get, and stay heart healthy.
The scary truth is that this woman is not alone. An estimated fifteen ... Show more content on

This allows the heart to beat slower and more efficiently to keep blood pressure under control(Moore,
Kristine). Some individuals might not have the extra time to do the recommended amount of aerobic
activity. Those people should ask themselves, do they have time to have a heart attack?
Another activity that takes up time is eating. Growing up, children are taught to eat three square meals
a day. That s breakfast, lunch, and dinner. A study done by the United States Department of
Agriculture found that on an average day between 2006 08, Americans age 15 or older spend 67
minutes just eating and drinking. They also found that Americans spend 86.5 minutes eating while
multi tasking. That means that the majority of the times that people spend eating, they are distracted
by other things and not focused on what they eat. Becoming hearth healthy also requires a diet that is
high in fiber and antioxidants. Foods that are quick to eat on the go such as candy bars or potato chips
are the exact opposite of what should be eaten. These foods can be detrimental to heart health. Foods
that are high in sugar, sodium, trans fats, and ultimately calories are the absolute worst choices to
make. However, these foods are the easiest and cheapest to get on the run and that s why many people
aren t heart healthy. What people should do is carefully watch what they put into

The Conceptual Schema Of Women
Women are seen powerless in many instances and Marilyn Frye details the accounts where women are
viewed as second to men in To see and Be Seen. Frye uses a metaphysics approach to better
understand how people come to power. She gives a metaphysical understanding of how the world has
been determined by people of power, which throughout history has been men. Men have been in
authority throughout history and have come up with society s conceptual schema. Frye alludes to
people in power don t want to see people who are submissive. Men fit into the conceptual schema,
women are excluded but are allowed in the schema in certain ways and lesbians are not included.
Lesbians are seen as unnatural and are not recognized in the schema. Their perspective on society is
not taken into account, whereas women are recognized but their own perspective on society is
completely erased.
Men in charge do not identify women or lesbian s experiences and view women as a mystery. The
conceptual schema lead women to view society as men do, but lesbians do not view the world through
men s perspective. Suppressing a groups perspective excluded them from reality. Men are dominant
and women are dominated. Frye mentions Sarah Hoagland s paper saying, In the conceptual schemes
of phallocracies... there is no such thing as a lesbian. This puts a lesbian in the interesting and peculiar
position of being something that does not exist, and this position is a singular vantage point with
respect to the

Spanking Young Children
About 60% of parents in the United States use spanking as a method to discipline their young
children. In most cases parents believe that spanking is the only effective way to discipline their
children. According to the International Encyclopedia of Marriage and Family , spanking is often
referred as; one or two flat handed swats on a child s wrist or buttocks, but would not include a
beating with a whip or a belt, for others, spanking also includes slaps and pinches to the leg, arm,
back, or even the head, as long as no marks are left . While some parents favor spanking children,
others are against spanking children because they feel that teaching them and giving them
consequences is the way method for a child to behave. I believe that ... Show more content on

With the increasing number of families that have two working parents in a family children would want
to seek attention from parents at any rate they can. If parents spank them when they misbehave,
misbehaving constantly can make them feel somehow connected with parents.
Sometimes spanking a child is necessary to bring attention to the child when they are constantly
misbehaving. Some parents believe spanking is a great way to discipline a child because they would
become more obedient. For instance, many parents use corporal punishment as a last resort, some
parents may reluctantly spank their children because they cannot think of what else to do to show the
child the seriousness of his or her misbehavior (encyclopedia, 2003) Parents use spanking a child as a
way to make children act the way they are supposed to act. Many children go wild, since they have
never received any real punishment from either parent other than just getting grounded for
misbehaving. Sometimes parents lose control of their children due to the lack of disciplinary skills.
When parents lack disciplinary skills the children tend to have control of all situations. For example, a
child may be throwing food in the kitchen when they dislike the meal the parent prepares. The parents
do not use any act of physical punishment towards the children but rather ground them when they
misbehave. The

Case Study Of Ola-Uber
Ola Uber is like the new name for taxis in India. Every second educated person knows about their
services and every 4th person have used their services. Present across 87 cities in India OlaCabs or
better known as Ola believes in hiring entrepreneurial drivers unlike the conventional drivers hired by
taxiforSure or Meru Cabs. 70 % of Ola drivers own their vehicle and are claiming to earn 4 15
thousand a week. By paying the drivers according to per km basis rather than hourly basis the
company has managed to decrease or better say eliminate the slack which used to be created when
drivers are not riding. Hence the productivity increased. An avg drivers claims to be driving 8 10

So when Uber moves to those cities it will again get the shared taxi driver who rides Ola as well. Uber
should come up with some exclusive strategy for their drivers so that they completely shift from Ola
to Uber and also have tie ups with the banks to assist and get people loan. And more over can tie up
with regional traffic control and assist in getting bulk licenses for its trained driver. They can come up
with a driver academy where you enrol, learn driving and get a loan and you drive and earn. Actually
any one of the brands can come up with such a strategy.
Uber has a strategy that is known as Growth Hacking. Growth hacking simply means to acquire only
engaged and interested consumers without using by the book marketing techniques. Uber didn t quite
believed in spending money on advertising channels like print TV etc. Instead uber relied heavily on
Facebook and twitter. Uber thought it would make more sense to give users initial free ride up to a
certain limit and getting more free rides when their friends ride their first ride with the referral code

Case Study Of Nissan
I. Generating Value
Evaluate: According to the case study Nissan has a pacific product line compared to its competitors.
Nissan uses a build to stock method for some models of vehicle, while the rest of the methods of
vehicle are building to order. This style of operations management should save the company money.
There is an example of this found in the Nissan case study on page 4.
Assess: Nissan is achieving a competitive advantage by maintained a simplified product line
compared to its competitors. The company adopted a build to stock strategy for just a few SKUs in
each model and a build to order strategy for the rest (William and David, 2017). Nissan believed that

The Bamana Boli in Mali
The Boli, or altar, figure from the Bamana peoples of Mali is a unique piece of art not based on what
an individual knows about the figure, but rather what it doesn t. The Boli has a secretive quality that
harness energy from the community and peoples reactions to the Boli can fluctuate based on their
interpretations on the object. The Boli is made of materials ranging from human bodily fluid to sticks
and string. The figure is generally made to resemble an animal, typically a hippopotamus or cow, but
over time with sacrificial material covering the figure it can become somewhat unclear. The Bamana
peoples have an obscure relationship with the Boli for many reasons that could sprout from the
materials it is made from, its uses in the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This only adds to the uniqueness of the Boli. Much of the research on Boli figures ends up being
found specifically from the Kono society of the Bamana peoples of Mali. The Kono society is known
as a power association or a secret society each society has a unique way of performing rituals and
creating Boli figures, but all have the basic structure pertaining to the Boli. The main use of the Boli is
to contain nyama, or a mysterious ancient force, which is a very secretive and unclear force that the
Kono believed to affect the society based on how it was dealt. The Kono society has since decreased
in numbers, but the mystery of the Boli and nyama is still feared and/or practiced by some Bamana
peoples that continue the tradition. The usage of the Boli is that of a sacrificial purpose. The Bamana
peoples in secret Kono initiation associations use the Boli, where there is an abundance of nyama
present. The priests of the society can activate and use the nyama and with the initiates combine to
protect the community by destroying malevolent forces. People in each society have there own view
on the usage of the Boli. Some people are for the use and think that actively using Boli figures to
activate nyama to protect the society from evil forces and feel very protected by this ritual. Other
people fear the power of the Boli and are to powerful while being too mysterious and secretive. The

Resistance Training During Pregnancy
Resistance Exercise during Pregnancy As stated above, many mothers perceive resistance training as
harmful to the fetus, but this could not be more wrong. In an interview study 17 women were asked
about their experience with resistance training with light barbells and weight plates during pregnancy.
All the women had positive responses to weight training while pregnant. Many reported and
improvement in the overall health of the body and mind with a significant increase in self esteem and
sense of control. The women put more faith in their bodies as they realized they were able to still
perform various types of exercise including resistance training while pregnant. Being pregnant was

It is a very relaxing exercise performed in the water, and movement is paired with the exerciser s
breathing. When palms face the sky, the exerciser inhales, and when palms face the ground, the
exerciser exhales. Tai Chi is wonderful for expecting mothers because it is relaxing and helps to
relieve the stresses of pregnancy, and it also improves body awareness. Being in tune with the body is
especially important for pregnant mothers because as their fetus grows, their center of gravity shifts
and can cause decreases in balance. Knowing where their body is positioned in space is crucial to
prevent falls and consequently prevent injury to the mother and baby. Yoga is sometimes paired with
Tai Chi exercise, and is also very beneficial to expecting mothers because it has been shown to reduce
pregnancy pain, discomfort, and anxiety. A study was performed on 92 pregnant mothers with
clinically diagnosed depression. They attended a Tai Chi/yoga class once a week for a 20 minute
session. The study lasted 12 weeks, and during each class the mothers would perform a series of Tai
Chi movements combined with stretching and appropriate yoga poses. In conclusion, the study found
that weekly sessions of Tai Chi/yoga resulted in a decrease in anxiety, lethargies, depression, and sleep
disturbances (17,

  • 2. Video Game Violence Essay Video Game Violence Violence in video games has been a hot topic ever since the beginnings of the industry. From depictions of a polygonal frog being run over in Frogger, to stealing cars in a realistic environment a la Grand Theft Auto, this topic has sparked serious debate. The traditional liberal stance is that the government should forcefully regulate the video game industry. The conservative stance is that the industry does a good job of rating itself, and that government should not get involved. The liberal stance has its points, in the fact that video games are getting more realistic and more violent. With increasing technology in computers, the video game industry also makes advances in graphics and what they can display. The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Most of the sources I found were psychology journals or publications dedicated to adolescent health. These articles tended to lean both ways. Some articles claimed that there was a link between video game violence and violence in real life. Others said that no such link existed. Neither side quoted any solid sources, however. Many of the medical journals lumped together TV, movies, and video games in their articles. Most of the psychology journals advocated more parent involvement and more social interaction. Of the non medical sources, most were news articles. A few used the articles previously mentioned about how video games and violence were supposedly linked to prove their point. Some were about courts who had thrown out cases that claimed that video games were responsible for causing children to commit horrible acts like Columbine. Most of the major news sources tended to stay neutral on this issue. They only reported games that had record breaking sales or the must have games. What I was hoping to find, however, were articles that argued from the government point of view. I was hoping to find articles for and against mandatory government enforced ratings of video games. However, none of those came up. As a video gamer, I believe that video game companies should be allowed to freely develop games as they please. I am personally aware of several cases of extreme censorship. For example, a World War 2 based game was ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. School Uniform And School Uniforms School Uniform School uniforms keep students focused on their education not in their clothings. When all students are wearing the same outfit, they are less concerned about how they look and how they fit in with their peers. It s easier for parent and students do not spend time choosing appropriate outfit for school day. It helps students can only concentrate on their schoolwork. Education is one of the big institutions for every kid that go to school. Also education is the roots that will help people the rest of their lives and will bright in their future. Many people believe that each school should have its own uniform not only to show their pride for their school, but also to prevent attacks by students from one particular school on students from a rival school. School with uniform is students can t attempts to skip because when someone see them in public with their uniform they can report them to the authorities, which will create big problems at home and at school. School uniform has acted as a deterrent to truancy. Students with uniform show more respectful and doesn t seem bad for others. Uniform can enforced a positive attitude for students. School with uniform make other people see organize and look professional. Also it keep school safe and out of troubles. Many students with uniform are more self esteem. School have less violence, no gang sign of the shirt, every body equal. School without uniform look disrespectful and it doesn t show loyalty to school. They ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. Micro-Electro-Mechanical Systems Lab Report The Internet of Things is continually changing lives and has provided convenient controls over lights and appliances from houses, to offices, streets and especially, to tracking of habits, health and even the environment. These things cannot be accomplished without the help of Micro Electro Mechanical Systems (MEMS) technology which facilitated the development of smart sensor nodes. Wireless sensor network (WSN) is a group of sensor nodes able to sense, measure and, gather information from the surroundings, and transmit and receive data from the user. These sensor nodes are equipped with sensors, a processor, memory, power supply, and a radio or a RF module. The sensing part of the sensor node determines the application where it will be ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The figure shows the power consumption levels of the power hungry blocks in a commercial sensor node. In data communication, no waiting time results to an energy efficient communication. Energy efficiency means less power consumption in a period. The decrease of power consumption means the decrease of power budget of the node. For reducing power using communication scheme, there are many protocols that will budget the power where no power is wasted while there is no communication. It implements duty cycling of transmitter (Tx) and receiver (Rx). This method incorporates timing to the Tx and Rx which decreases the waiting time. This timing circuit posts implementation problems such as increase in power, delay, and the probability of error. An alternative technique is the asynchronous wake up where there is another receiver module beside the transceiver which is a wake up receiver (WuRx). The architecture of the receiver determines the simplicity in hardware and power consumption. This architecture will depend on the modulation scheme that will be used. The purpose of the wake up receiver is to monitor the transmitter or data for initiation of data communication. The main transceiver is in sleep state except during an initiated communication, shifting to its active state. The WuRx should have low power average consumption than the duty cycled communication schemes to prove its advantage. Its operation is also shown in Figure 1.2. The ... • 5. To His Coy Mistress by Andrew Marvell Andrew Marvell s poem, To His Coy Mistress is an equally beautiful and provocative piece of writing. Written in iambic form as a three part proposition addressed to the coy mistress, the poem is permeated with literary devices such as tone, alliteration, imagery, hyperbole, as well as similes and metaphors. Marvell s speaker acknowledges the idea that mortality is of little to no value after death. Through the speaker, Marvell is suggesting that one can avoid the regrets of not participating in the adventurous aspects of life by seizing the day, thus supporting the Carpe Diem philosophy. The three part proposition can be identified through the change of the poem s tone as well as the change of pace. The first argument has a sly and devious tone. Had we but world enough, and time, This coyness, lady, were no crime. (lines 1 2). The use of the punctuations, the commas and the period, hinders the pace of the poem. In doing so, it shows the insignificance of time at that moment. The insignificance of time at the moment is further emphasized when the speaker tells his mistress that they would sit down, and think which way, To walk, and pass [their] long love s day (lines 3 4). The use of alliteration creates a carefree tone, as if the speaker was daydreaming and sighing as he was trying to woo his mistress. Marvell uses delicate and sublime imagery to flatter the mistress with a seemingly disingenuous exaggeration of her physical beauty. Because of the unrealistic use ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Russell On Denoting On Denoting and Definite Descriptions: Russell s Puzzle Solutions In his work, On Denoting , Bertrand Russell proposes a theory of denoting and descriptions, which he summarizes as follows: Everything, nothing, and something, are not assumed to have any meaning in isolation, but a meaning is assigned to every proposition in which they occur. This is the principle of the theory of denoting I wish to advocate: that denoting phrases never have any meaning in themselves, but that every proposition in whose verbal expression they occur has a meaning. (480) Russell contends that the difficulties concerning denoting are [...] all the result of a wrong analysis of propositions whose verbal expressions contain denoting phrases (480). In ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In considering this puzzle, Russell first introduces the principle of the indiscernibility of identicals (hereafter the indiscernibility principle), which states that [i]f a is identical to b, whatever is true of the one is true of the other, and either may be substituted for the other in any proposition without altering the truth or falsehood of that proposition (485). That is, two identical entities can be used interchangeably in any statement without altering the truth value of the statement in question. Russell then sets forth the proposition George VI wished to know whether Scott was the author of Waverly and concludes that, since Scott was in fact the author of Waverly, one can replace the author of Waverly with Scott and thereby prove that George VI wished to know whether Scott was Scott (485). Under the indiscernibility principle, both propositions are true since the terms the author of Waverly and Scott are identical and thus wholly substitutable for one another. However, while Russell finds the first proposition to be true ( George VI wished to know whether Scott was the author of Waverly ), Russell concludes that the second proposition, George VI wished to know whether Scott was Scott , is false due to the fact that an interest in the law of identity can hardly be attributed to George VI (485). Herein lies the Substitutivity Puzzle. The ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. A Brief Note On Diabetes Mellitus And Mellitus Diabetes mellitus is usually a lifelong metabolic disorder characterized by hyperglycemia or high sugar levels in the blood; can be caused by lack of insulin, insulin resistance, or both. Insulin is a hormone produced by the pancreas to regulate blood sugar. It controls the metabolism of carbohydrates and fats that the body used for energy. Without insulin, glucose (sugar) in the blood builds up causing hyperglycemia. There are 3 classic symptoms of diabetes; the 3 Ps: polyuria which defines as frequent and excessive urination, polydipsia which defines as excessive thirst, and polyphagia which defines as excessive eating. Sports Teams With Native American Mascots Well Known Sports Teams with Native American Mascots Have you thought about the name or mascot of your favorite sports team like the Chicago Blackhawks, the Washington Redskins, or even a college team like Florida State Seminoles? These teams and more have been accused of being racist towards Native Americans and their culture. However, many teams do not intentionally use their mascots to discriminate against Natives. Instead, they represent Native American Tribes and use names to respect the history of the tribal nation. Others would say that sports teams are just using those native titles to gain more fans. Also, natives would argue that professional sports teams are making fun of their tribes because of the decisions that the team has made about the way that the native cultures are portrayed. People would say that teams with native mascots have lack of respect towards Native Americans. However, many professional sports teams that are named after a native tribe are respectful towards the native heritage in ways such as having a partnership with the tribe, honoring a leader that the team was named after, and even helping out a tribe. Many areas of the world have been affected because they were accused of having a racist mascot or team name. In the United States many teams have respect for Native Americans. • 9. Persuasive Essay On Society People think of me as a mannequin. All show and no substance. It s not often that someone can say that they have something in common with a celebrity; however, unfortunately I can. Brooke Shields, the well known model turned actress that verbalized my thoughts, and I are alike in one way; both of us have been molded into life size dummies. The object that best represents me is a mannequin. I have discovered this through universal, personal and practical avenues of inquiry. Firstly, we don t often think about how a life size dummy relates to us as humans or the impact they ve had on our society as a whole; however, they play a major role in the way we view ourselves as individuals and function as a collective society. We preach about how precious individuality is, but intentionally or not, we often strive to become identical to the perceptions of perfection in society. As a matter of fact, mannequins are often perceived as a universal image of perfection due to their figures, the various on trend outfits they display, and sometimes even the human like faces painted onto them. As young children, whenever we go shopping with our parents we would stumble across displays that would showcase little boys and girls with cool , new outfits and toys and we would attempt to convince our parents to buy them. As we get into our teen years, often as girls, we see the mannequins as constant reminders of what we strive to be based on whatever the ideal body type may be in the present ... He supports his idea saying, All humans are God s creation; it stands to reason that God not only guided people in the Middle East through Abrahamic prophets. • 11. Young Goodman Brown Analysis David P. Reader Professor Jessi Morton English 113 10 December 2017 Young Goodman Brown: Losing Faith in Humanity from the Art of Deception Since the beginning of time, there has always been day and night, evil and light. Throughout history, the basis of good versus evil has emanated. Good and evil has etched its place in every culture whether taught through passed down stories, depictions written on tablets, stones, or parchment paper. In the story, Young Goodman Brown, Hawthorne reveals the traveler as a figure that highlights one goal. Emphasis is placed on the traveler s methodology as he employ s several techniques to manipulate and deceive the vulnerabilities of Goodman Brown. Hawthorne carefully stresses the traveler s demeanor, features, setting and communication methods in detail. What is Hawthorne trying to say about the intricate interaction between Goodman Brown and the traveler? The traveler patiently awaits Young Goodman Brown as he always has, because the traveler is not governed by the same limitations as man. The traveler, being demonic, has a purposeful goal in mind: to kill, steal, and destroy while praying on Goodman Brown s vulnerabilities to achieve his hidden agenda. The traveler s skill in persuasion is hard to overcome as he comes across as normal, trustful and believable. Young Goodman Brown approaches with hesitation in the darkness as he seems haunted and reluctant making his way through the woods. Purposefully, The Traveler is cunning and is ... • 12. A Brief Note On The Conservation Of Ruins CONSERVATION OF RUINS A heritage ruin is defined as a disused and incomplete place comes in all shapes and sizes, that through abandonment, redundancy or condition, usually no longer maintained and unlikely to serves its original function or purpose other than interpretation (Australian Heritage Council, 2013). Rizzi, added the definition of ruin from architectural point of view: A building which having lost a substantial part of its architectural form has ceased to function as such. Elementary, but full of implications: a building that has lost its natural defences (roof, windows, plasters, etc), unarmed against the ravages of atmospheric agents and consequently more vulnerable to the destructive effect of time; A building that has stopped to fulfill its functions, to shelter human activities and which, in a sense, has begun its journey towards progressive decline and final disappearance . (Rizzi 2007, p.xx). Although the term ruins implies the abandoned condition of the building materials, this condition does not resemble the loss of heritage values embedded to it (Australian Heritage Council, 2013). For this reason, it is obvious that heritage ruins are equally as important as any other historic building survived. It is the evidence of past human activity; a shared resources that retain important heritage values, and potentially possess tangible and intangible heritage attributes (Drury and McPherson 2008, Australian Heritage Council 2013). North American Aviation Corporation was granted the contract to build these medium range, single seat, high altitude, multi purpose fighter jet/bombers. There were over 6,000 of the jets produced between the two facilities in Los Angeles, California and Columbus, Ohio. This plane was the first United States jet fighter with swept wings, which allowed it to unofficially break the sound barrier on 1 October 1947. As the technology advanced in China and North Korea the MiG 15 came in to play and was far more superior than the piston engine aircraft the United States and UN forces were flying. One of the most significant things about the MiG 15 is that with its superiority over the P 51 Mustang the United States Air Force had to keep all of the B 29 Superfortress grounded due to the lack of security. The B 29 Superfortress had been a major game changer in World War II. The B 29 was designed for the high altitude strategic bomber role. One of the B 29 s final roles during World War II was carrying out the atomic bomb attacks on Hiroshima and Nagasaki. After the F 86 Sabre was introduced in Korea, they patrolled the area just south of the Yalu, the so called Mig Alley, in long figure eights, always turning towards the north to keep from being surprised. Summary Of Margaret Mead s Coming Of Age In Samoa In Coming of Age in Samoa, by Margaret Mead, she exemplifies and puts emphasis on the idea of socialization through the view of the Samoan girl, and we also see what her sexuality is as she becomes an adult and has to deal with marriage. Before reading the book I never knew that different cultures like the Samoan culture viewed everything in their daily lives different than how we view it in ours. After learning about the Samoan culture in the book, it gave me a new perspective and how to view the world around me because the book discussed key concepts I didn t expect to be interesting. The Samoan culture and how socialization turns into sexuality for young girls is very different compared to our culture. In the Samoan culture sexuality in Samoan girls is seen differently than we see it in our culture today. Margaret Mead elaborates on this idea because of how she views the sexuality of a Samoan girl when she mentions Virginity is a legal requirement for her (Mead 69). When Mead discusses this, it is interesting how in that culture virginity is a requirement and that is something we don t see as a requirement in our society today. This demonstrates how the sexuality of a Samoan girl is not the same as we see it. The way girls are seen because of their sexuality is incomparable to girls in our society today and that s important to observe since Samoan culture is by far very different to what we view as part of culture today. These sad criminal acts will continue to grow in our society, unless our community takes action to stop these crimes. Numericus Sphaericus Essay Lysinibacillus sphaericus (formerly Bacillus sphaericus) has been used as an alternative strategy to control mosquito s population because it is harmless to humans and other non target organisms. Extensive studies have demonstrated the larvicidal activity of the binary toxin, which is the core of the bacterium s toxicity. Binary toxin is produces as parasporal crystals during sporulation, and specifically binds to a single class of receptors, α glucosidases, in larvae midgut. Because L. sphaericus toxicity is based on only one kind of toxin, high level resistance against the bacterium was observed in the field [1]. One of approaches to manage binary toxin resistance is the utilization of binary toxin in combination with other mosquitocidal toxins, among those are toxins from Bacillus thuringiensis, and from B. sphaericus itself. One of the teachers sat directly across the children, with her back facing the calendar. The other teacher sat down in between two children. All the windows were open and there was music playing softly in the background, as they got ready to start. Teacher began by singing and playing the Good morning song, while signing the song. Children follow the teacher and began to sing, and make movements with their hands to follow along. They proceeded by singing the days of the week, months of the year, What s the weather songs. Following by going over the seasons, month and day of the week. Consequently, teacher followed by reading a story for the children. She used a felt board to assist her with the story. • 35. Inconsistency Essay in the Groundwork. The first type of inconsistency or the internal inconsistency of the maxim relates to the fact that, as we noted earlier, maxims are principles of action in that they provide directives that we intend to realize; this intention is what we mean when we say that we have willed the maxim. The conceptual or internal contradiction, to which O Neill refers, emerges when what we intend incorporates something that is not possible. For example, one cannot will success and stay detached from the world at the same time. However, one can consistently will success in public life and yet not interact with others in private life. O Neill sees this kind of schizophrenic willing as problematic, but tolerable within the bounds of the Kantian doctrine since such nuances ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... However, this view seems problematic since specific intention is always compared with underlying intention. This difficulty in O Neill s view particularly runs afoul of empirical practical reason, while for Rawls and Kant it does not mesh with the hypothetical imperatives. According to Kant, if one wills a particular end, one also wills the necessary and indispensable means to secure that end. A practical inconsistency occurs if the means (specific intentions in this case) are incompatible with the maxims (the underlying intention) which they are meant to serve. Consider the coffee example discussed previously: if a maxim of serving my guest coffee is my underlying intention, then, if I adopt the ancillary and specific intention of preparing and offering coffee combined with another specific intention of drinking all the coffee myself in front of my uncomfortable guest, I fall into ... How Modbus Is A Type Of Communication Modbus is a type of communication among many devices connected to the same network, for example a system that measures temperature and humidity and communicates the results to a computer. Modbus is often used to connect a supervisory computer with a remote terminal unit (RTU) in supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) systems. [17] In simple words, it can be explained as a method used for transmitting information over the lines between electronic devices. The device asks the information is called the Modbus Master and the devices supply information is Modbus Slaves. Each computer (known as a host) on the Internet has at least one IP address that uniquely identifies it from all other computers on the Internet.[18] While data transferred in a network, is sent or received(for simple understanding, an e mail note or a Web page), the message is divided into little pieces called packets. Each of these packets includes both the sender s internet address and also the receiver s internet address. A packet is firstly sent to a gateway computer which is the first station of the Internet. The gateway computer reads the destination address and forwards the packet to an higher gateway which reads the destination address and transfer it over the internet until one gateway recognizes the packet as belonging to a computer within its area or domain. The packet then is sent by gateway directly to the computer which address is specified. 3.2.1 Subnet A subnet represents all the devices found at one location. This seems impossible, but that s exactly what happened back in 1865. April 27, 1865 the Sultana exploded and over 1,700 people were killed. Sad to say but this event barely made it to the newspapers because of Abraham s Lincoln s death. At the time of this event a war had just ended and Abraham lincoln had just died and everyone was worried about the funeral at the time of this disaster. • 42. America s Meat Industry Hides From The Consumer America s meat industry hides from the consumer, according to Michael Pollan, author of The Omnivore s Dilemma. The consumer, as well as corporations, have built walls instead of demanding transparency. Journalists and the general public are not permitted to enter abattoirs of many corporations, leaving the judgement of slaughtering methods to the businesses themselves. State and federal regulations aren t always enforced, thus corporations decide what is humane . Profit organisations find the most efficient and lucrative system, yet ignore the secondary costs to natural systems. Pollan argues that in preventing abuse, only transparency holds businesses accountable to regulations. He states in Omnivore s Dilemma, No other country raises and slaughters its food animals quite as intensively or as brutally as we do . Many Americans would disagree because they are ignorant of the system. We have chosen not to see what really happens to the animals we eat, understandably, due to the unpleasant truths Pollan uncovers. As a summary, slaughterhouses kill a steer by stunning it, hanging it upside down by its leg and bleeding it out by cutting its throat. However, (according to McDonald s) they accept a five percent error rate, meaning when the first stunning does not kill the animal, the steer continues along the conveyor belt for processing.
