Anthony Appiah analyzes the issues of morality. Appiah essentially presents his argument in a
manner which questions the concept of what is ethically right and wrong. Furthermore, he believes

With the advent of modern technology, the way our culture consumes music has changes
dramatically in the last ten years. With technology developing as rapidly as it is; music piracy has
been prosperous while traditional music sales have declined. This essay explores how cloud based
music services have affected music consumption and piracy.

Over the past decade, cloud streaming has made its way into consumer s lives. These cloud
services allow users to access music from a central database via a website. Users can access this
music for free. But only as long as they are connected to the internet. Consumers may also choose to
purchase a subscription to these sites which eliminates advertisements and allows unlimited
listening online or off. Cloud streaming services have made a large impact on the music industry. It
has made such a sizeable impact that Billboard has created a chart for streamed music.
Cloud streaming services provide access through subscriptions which are often paid. Meanwhile
piracy offers users free and unlimited access to all music without any limitations. Almost all
consumers of pirated music claim that the practice of piracy does not hurt the music industry at all.
The book Moser on Music Copyright (2006) argues that piracy does in fact hurt the music
industry by examining a study produces by the Recording Industry Association of America
(RIAA). The RIAA estimates that piracy costs the music industry $300,000,000 in the United
States alone. While the United States loss may seem large, the Global loss amounts to roughly
$5,000,000,000. In 2004 alone, roughly 34%, of all CD sales, were pirated copies (p. 83).

Upon watching the YouTube video, Park Avenue: money, power and the American dream Why
Poverty? I began to see some connections between what we have been learning in English 205
and the video I was watching. What the video shows is a group of ultra rich white men that use
their money and politics to keep themselves rich and to keep the rest of us down. They also use
their power to advance their political agendas. How did these men get and maintain their money?
Some of the men shown in the video come from a long history of money, while some of them made
money on their own though dealings on Wall Street. I believe one of the speakers said something

Now, this was not a fair game of monopoly, but a game where there was an ultra rich player, a
regular player, and then a poor player. The ultra rich player acted as if they were owed money,
while making fun of the poor player quite a bit. This can be seen in our society post civil war.
You have white men with all the money, property, and all of the political power keeping the
freshly freed slaves in a state of poverty. Even if they didn t actively go after the poor or racial
minorities, they still benefited from the system that stacked the cards heavily in their favor. We
see in the video that a lot of the rich white men do not want their money to go towards the takers
or have nots of society. They don t want the money that they have access to partially because of
white privilege to help out those who never even had a shot at succeeding. On the other hand,
what we do see is the ultra rich white men expecting the poor and downtrodden, including the large
minority population just 10 minutes from their swanky homes in New York City, to pull
themselves up by their own bootstraps. How can those who are born in abject poverty, with no
access to things that white privilege brings, and a very poor education system be expected to
succeed? Another part of the video tries to shed some light on the notorious Koch brothers and their
