Unrealistic Expectations In Saramago s Blindness
Additionally, women all over the world are being subjected to cruelty by men and society because of
the unrealistic expectations that society places on them. Unrealistic expectations expand from,
expectations that are impossible to reach, to expecting too little from a person with potential for
greatness. Women in today s society are expected to fulfill impossible tasks that no one person is
capable of fulfilling, for example, women are expected to bare children and raise them to a certain
standard and if they their children do not meet the standard then they are ridiculed and discriminated
against. Also, women are belittled and suppressed by men because women are expected to only fulfill
tasks and jobs that men do not want, for example receptionist. ... Show more content on

Most of the men are older and have troubles just being able to participate in the conceiving of a child.
Although obvious that the women are not getting pregnant because of the men, the government and
the rest of the towns people blame the women for not being able to conceive. The impossible
expectation that is placed on the women is also followed by consequences for the women. After a
certain amount of time the women are cent to what they call the colonies to clean up nuclear waste
Even in todays time, women are checked to see why they can not get pregnant before a doctor ever
suggests that it could be the man. Women are the ones that are made to bare children. They are to take
responsibility for everything that men do not want to. If a relationship does not work out it is the
woman that has not worked to make a man want to stay. Unruly children are seen as not taught right
by their mothers. If a boy is homosexual, then his mother babied him to much. A miscarriage must be
because the mother did something wrong for example; did not eat proper food. Expectations are
placed on women everyday that have two sides, but the women are the ones that are expected to fulfill
the tasks and if something goes wrong it is her fault, not the other party for not assisting. Women that
are single mothers are judged if their children do not turn out as well as a child with two

The core product at Bothma and Barnard is wood furniture which is classified as a good as it is
tangible, produced by a manufacturer (Bothma and Barnard), easy to store in a warehouse, there is a
delay between production and consumption as the goods sitting in furniture shops of warehouses, it
maintains its value much longer than a service, its less likely to be unique, there is little or no contact
between the customer and manufacturer unless they are buying directly from the factory and its easy

Myth as a semiological system in August Wilson s
Gem of the Ocean, Joe Turner s Come and Gone and The Piano Lesson
Abstract
Myths are one of the most important elements included in the history of not only African American
lives but also the lives of each and every one of us. Myths are inevitable human resources at times
when no other idea justifies our being. As Barthes posits, for it is human history which converts reality
into speech, and it alone rules the life and the death of mythical language. Ancient or not, mythology
can only have an historical foundation, for myth is a type of speech chosen by history: it cannot
possibly evolve from the nature of things. This study looks into the significance of Myths and their
determining roles as semiological systems in August Wilson s dramatic twentieth century cycle plays;
Gem of the Ocean, Joe Turner s Come and Gone and The Piano Lesson. In these plays, myths take the
forms of individuals, rituals and even ancestral objects. It can be observed that each one of these
elements performs the most important role in conveying the significance of the African American
psyche and delicately portrays the eminent influence of ancestral backgrounds in shaping the lives of
each character. The works of scholars such as Roland Barthes, Henry Gates, as well as many more,
have been employed to better grasp this matter. Key words: Myth, semiological system, African
American psyche, mythical language, ritual

Mobile Wireless Network Essay
Recent progress in mobile wireless network has provided a major impulse towards the development of
self organized, self created, and rapidly deployable network architecture referred to as Mobile Ad Hoc
Networks (MANETs). Although the application area of MANETs was initially proposed for
environments of disaster recovery and battle field communications, the evolution of the Multimedia
Technology and the commercial interest of companies to reach widely civilian applications, have
made Quality of Service in such networks more important.
Many different protocols have been proposed to support Quality of service in MANETs, each based on
different intuitions assumptions. Current proposals in the literature have attempted to provide Quality

A Mobile Ad Hoc network is receiving attention due to several salient characteristics such as:
 Dynamic topologies
 Bandwidth constrained links
 Energy constrained operation
 Limited physical security.
Therefore the routing protocols for wired networks cannot be directly used for wireless networks.
Some examples of the possible uses of Ad Hoc networking include students using laptop computers to
participate in an interactive lecture, business associates sharing information during a meeting, soldiers
relaying information for situational awareness on the battlefield and emergency disaster relief
personnel coordinating efforts after a hurricane or earthquake. A MANET uses multi hop routing
instead of a static network infrastructure to provide network connectivity. Several routing protocols
have been proposed for MANETs. Initially, in this work, number of ways of classification or
categorization of existing routing protocols and the survey on the performance comparison of
important protocols such as AODV [2], DSR [3] and DSDV [4] are presented. A number of
researchers have done the performance analysis of Ad Hoc Routing protocols over the years using
different simulators like NS2, Qualnet, Opnet etc. From the survey of QoS Models and Protocols of
the IP network such as IntServ, DiffServ, FQMM (Flexible QoS Model for MANET), RSVP etc., it is
observed that they

Remaining Elements Of IIED Against Nicole Kidman ( Nicole )
Sally Thompson (Sally) cannot successfully state a cause of action for IIED against Nicole Kidman
(Nicole). Under Illinois law, in order to claim IIED, it must be proven that (1) the conduct involved
must be truly extreme and outrageous, (2) the actor must either intend that his conduct will inflict
severe emotional distress, or know that there is at least a high probability that his conduct will cause
severe emotional distress, and (3) the conduct must in fact cause severe emotional distress. [McGrath
at 806].
To prove extreme and outrageous conduct, there are considerations that the conduct must fulfill.
[CITE] First, the power or authority the actor has and whether or the actor abused that power.
{cite]Second, whether the actor had an illegitimate objective behind their conduct. Third, the actor
knows the other person is peculiarly susceptible to emotional distress. [McGrath at 807]. Lastly, mere
words are not enough for emotional distress; words must be so powerful that a reasonable person
could not be expected to withstand them. [Kolegas at 203].
Remaining Elements of IIED need to expand In addition to extreme and outrageous conduct, in order
to claim IIED it must also be proven that the actor either intended that his conduct will inflict severe

example, say your an immigrant from Mexico , coming to America to work hard to improve your
circumstances, and in so doing improve yourself. You would look for a better job, or seek out some
form of higher education or skill training in order to correct the issue of being poor. While in a
socialist country thats not how it flys, if you are an American ,and you don t have the money to
support yourself, you have no worries, because the government will pay your rent, and food, removing
all motivation for self improvement. A Direct Democracy is the complete opposite as a representative
government. A Direct Democracy, other known as the pure democracy , is when the people themselves

Joan Mitchell Research Paper
I choose to research Joan Mitchell because I did not know very much about her or the type of artist
she is. Joan Mitchell is a second generation member of the abstract expressionist group and was a very
well respected painter of her time. She was born on February 12, 1925 and died on October 30, 1992.
Joan was born in Mitchell was born in Chicago Illumines however, most of her career took place in
France and she was one of the eras few female painters. She was so well respected that her paintings
and prints can be seen in major museums and collections across the United States and Europe. Her
paintings often covered two separate panels. An admirer of Vincent van Gogh s work, Mitchell
observed in one of his final paintings Wheatfield with Crows (1890) the symbology of death, suicide,
hopelessness, depression and darkness. With her sense that Wheatfield with Crows was a suicide note,
she painted a painting called No Birds as a response and as an homage . Joan was a painter who was
influenced by many others and incorporated others ideas in her paintings. I think that this is one of the
reasons why she is so well respected. Joan s most notable awards were: 1991 Le Grand Prix des Arts

No One Ever Became Poor By Giving By Anne Frank
A Helping Hand
No one ever became poor by giving, a quote by Anne Frank. My Uncle Shawn did not have the life we
all expect growing up. He lived in a bad part of Los Angeles with 13 brothers and sisters in a small
apartment. His Father died before he was born and his mother died shortly after. He lived in group
homes almost his entire childhood and due to a series of unfortunate minor events went to jail. You
might expect him to be hostile or even dangerous but, it is quite the contrary. If you met him you
would never suspect he had a rough childhood.
My Uncle Shawn is always dressed with a hefty smile and has a positive attitude. Also, he will
consistently help others in need even if it does not benefit himself. For example, ... Show more content

The next day we did not see the man whilst we were driving home from school, nor the day after. My

him on our way back from school. We were so relieved! My mom drove into the gas station parking
lot and I hopped out of the car with the $80 in my pocket. I went up to the man, who was in a stained
white shirt with a red torn jacket and and a pair of black sweatpants. Hi, my name is Dylan, what s
your name? I introduced myself.
Hi, my name is Jeff, he replied.
So what happened, how come you don t have a home? I asked Jeff.
Well, my mom passed away a year ago and then I got laid off my job. I couldn t afford the mortgage
on my home and then the bank took it away. My girlfriend left me and the shelter won t let me in. He
said. I grabbed the $80 out of my pocket and said, Well, I saw you a few days ago and grabbed this
money and when I came back you were gone. Here, take it, it will be enough for a couple of nights in
the Motel Six.
Oh, thank you so much! You don t know what this means for me. Said Jeff. At that moment I got

A Country Of Illusion Chapter 1 Summary
In chapter 1: A Country of Illusion, Reisner describes the exploration and settlement of the Western
United States, more specifically California. Reisner explains that a Spaniard by the name of Francisco
Vasquez de Coronado explored out this way for gold. Reisner then moves on and goes into detail
about the Powell Expedition of 1869 and says that explorers found land that was dry and bare that
showed no sign of vegetation which than got the name of the Great American Desert. After the
discussion of the barren land, Reisner briefly discussed the Homestead Act and how it affected people
and how it granted access and ownership of land to people. In Chapter 2: The Red Queen, Reisner
began to describe the early settlement into California and the water issue that most came to face but in

Borders Are The Worst Invention Ever Made By Politicians...
The Problem
Borders are the worst invention ever made by politicians, Jean Claude Juncker, the European
Commission president stated this while reflecting on globalization s failed promise of borderless
nations, and the creation of borders more rigid than ever (2016). Across the world, wall building has
become the common political strategy used by nations who deem physical barriers as the only way to
deal with difficult neighboring nations. The increasing fortification of borders as not just a political
line, but as an established physical barrier, responds to the security and migration issues at a global
level. Border walls are used for varying purposes, walls can separate opposing forces; often, they are
used to make territorial claims; however the more problematic use, is the keep out unwanted groups.
When the Berlin Wall fell nearly three decades ago, there were 16 border walls in the world; today the
number is ever growing with over 70 completed border walls globally (Brunet Jailly, 2016). Experts
agree that walls do not address the root problems of security and migration, supported by the fact that
global refugee applications and terrorist attacks have increased tremendously even though countries
have walled themselves off; which leaves unanswered questions as to the real reason walls are still
being built. Although building a wall has become a common political strategy in response to global
concerns of security and migration, nations should consider the reasoning

The Vs. Static Budgeting Essay
When we compare the static budget with the actual results, there has been a decrease of 2000 cart
rentals, which cause $50,000 unfavorable variance. Moreover, there is an unfavorable variance of
$200 from the static budget and this is due to the increase in the Labor cost. But when it comes to the
gas and oil there has been a decrease, which cause $1100 favorable variance. So the difference
between the actual operating profits and the static budgeting for April is $49100 ($50,000U + $200U
$1100F). In my opinion almost of all the differences between the actual operating profits and the static
budgeting for April is due to the reduced cart rentals from 6000 to 4000. When we compare the
flexible budget with the actual results, there is an unfavorable variance of $200, this is due to the
increase in the Labor cost and also there is an unfavorable variance of $900 from the flexible budget
and this is because gas and oil were over the budget. In the case of flexible budget, labor, gas and oil
were over the budget which cause unfavorable variance of $1100 ($200 + $900). The $200
unfavorable variance in labor is probably insignificant and the $900 gas and oil difference is likely a
timing difference between when the gas and oil are purchased and when they are actually used.

One of the most important ideas is that though the increasing demand and materialism, the low wage
worker will always be in demand because it will always be cheaper to outsource that work to third
world countries. Another argument that the film presents is that these countries that are now producing
our clothing do not have any rules or regulations for their employee s safety nor do they have any
regulations for polluting the environment thus creating many health problems in countries where the
people have no power to do anything about these issues. One more important argument that the film
brings attention to is if mass media and consumerism keep increasing, that the effects on the
environment and the wellbeing of the factory workers in these developing countries will never get any
better, we are only going to make things worse for everyone but these massive clothing

Houston Astrodome Essay
During the 1960s, while the United States was going through a civil infrastructure revolution, Texas
lead the way in innovative ways; creating modern marvels that would go onto to become Wonders of
the World. Once such building in particular lead a technical revolution, here in the city of Houston.
Home to several professional sports team, and later a registered as a national land mark, the Texas
created Houston Astrodome was the first in what would become multi purposed indoor sports arenas.
Like the saying goes, everything is bigger in Texas. Nothing can hold more true to that statement than
the marvel of what is the Houston Astrodome. Conceived by former city mayor Roy Hofheinz,
designed by the Morris Architects (Ballparks by Munsey and Suppes), the Houston Astrodome broke
ground in 1962 and was completed in November 1964. After her completion, she would be dubbed the
8th Wonder of the World. Before her inception, there was no other indoor, multi purposed sports

to come. Were it not for the ingenuity of Texans, and their desire to push the limits, perhaps indoor
sports stadiums today would look vastly different. This all falls under just how incredible Texas was
during the 1960s. Houston had a massive and complex highway system, the Johnson Space Center,

them but when then had came up with the plan to make it wrong to pray to anyone but the king the
decided to attack connection with his God.) Will write in this part... Soon...
Introduction of Points:
Prayer is the most power thing you have in your toolbox. There are so many things you can do true
this thing we call prayer. Prayer can get you out of trouble even when people are trying to put in you
trouble. As we look at our text today we see that now the administrators and people over power over
the land have produced a law that makes it basically illegal to pray to anyone other then kind Darius

He knew that no matter what was going on at the governmental level, he knew what was going on that
the Godly level was more powerful. Today we live in world were things have never happened before,
we have leaders much like the satraps and administrators. The person in charge of the United States is
signing orders and laws that don t make any sense are often times they do not line up with we as
follower of Christ believe. But how many times to we look at these things and immediately turn off
the TV and pray about them like we ought ton as Daniel did? The passages tell us that when he knew
the word knew in the tense lets me know that he found out fairly quickly and being as how he was an
administrator he would have known almost instantly. But he didn t call his buddies to complain but he
decided to go to God in prayer.
Application:
When you have conversations with people they don t mean anything all to often we want to call up
people a gossip and just talk about our problems but that does not yield anything you still must go
back to what you were doing before the situation occurred, but when you talk to God that is a

Lennon Mccartney Relationship
It was 60 years ago, John Lennon told the band to play.
The day 6th July 1957 held a strong part in the history of rock and roll music.
The Garden fete, that was held at St Peter s church, Woolton in Liverpool that year was the starting
point of the meeting of two young boys, James Paul McCartney and john Winston Lennon. It was the
first meeting of the partnership that made the legendary songwriting duo for the band the Beatles,
creating hits such as hard days night(she loves you) to let it be from the 1960s to the end of 1969,
where they like to call them self as Lennon McCartney ; meet each other for the first time formally in
both their lives.

The meeting of the two boys ended with john learning how to tune his guitar, john learning how to
play chords on his guitar, john being absolutely blown away and star struck by the talents and
charisma that Paul McCartney had attracted him.
By the end of the day, lennon was walking back home with a friend of his, refusing to take the bus
back home as a fellow bandmate asked Lennon, what did he think of that kid, paul . Lennon replied
him that he liked him(Paul) and thought he was really good, the questions then turned around into
john asking whether they should ask Paul to join the band with him, but john already knew the answer
he needed before needing a reply from his bandmate.
Their meeting on 6th July 1957 was a huge change towards music history. The day McCartney met
Lennon, the day Lennon was impressed by the skills of McCartney, the day McCartney formally knew
Lennon, everything. The next few years were filled with both of them bonding and working together

1960 s Music Influence
Music In The 1960 s and its Influence The 1960 s music was influenced from the 1950 s genres and
the artists and groups during that time. Some artists and groups that helped influence the music in the
60s were Elvis Presley, Ray Charles, Frank Sinatra, the Drifters and many more. All these artists
helped paved the way for the music of the 1960 s. In the 1960 s there were many different styles of
music ranging from rock n roll, country, blues and R B, garage rock, girl groups, surf and other bands.
During this time many knew styles of music were just starting to come about. Many people were
trying to find themselves or talk about the problems that are going on around them during this time
using all these different types of musical outlets. Let s take a look at all the different styles of music.
The 1960 s was big on rock n roll, many groups like The Beatles, The Rolling Stones and many more
were becoming very popular during this time. Elvis Presley and others have paved the way for these
newer and younger groups. Many companies were signing these groups onto their labels because of
their popularity. Rock music was combination of many different styles of music such as country, R B,
folk rock and others. Rock music was the start of garage bands and the sound of music that came from

Surf music was really different from the the rest of the other types of genres that came out during this
time because it had a certain type of twang to the sound. Surf music began as instrumental dance
music in the 60 s and the sound was mostly dominated by electric guitar. The music was at a medium
to fast tempo so everyone could dance to and have a good time. Surf music was originated in southern
California because surfing was very popular on the West Coast. The Beach Boys, The Challengers,
The Surfaris and The Lively Ones are names of just a few of the surf bands back in the

My Culture Is An Important Aspect Of Life
Culture is an important aspect of life. It influences each individual s life, allowing them to become the
person they are. Each person contributes a small part of their culture into society, creating a broader
culture. Because I live in an urban environment where many cultures have come together, I am aware
of how it influences me daily. When I was younger culture was not something I thought about,
however, as I got older I realized that it is an important part of my life.
My culture is a mixture of both American and Sri Lankan. I notice values and practices from each
culture that I apply to my life every day. I have taken both the individualistic and communalistic
attributes from both cultures and modified them to fit me. My American influence is often displayed
when I refuse to be complacent with the sexist behaviors of the Sri Lankan culture. When these verbal
or nonverbal actions are done in front of me, I speak up for myself. Defending myself from sexist
family members and voicing my opinion is part of my American culture. If I had lived in Sri Lanka I
would not be able to do so, easily.
Growing up in America, I am able to avoid the restrictive roles imposed on women in Sri Lanka.

In addition to adopting the cultural norms of America, specifically Los Angeles, I retained the cultural
norms passed to me from my parents. Although I often benefit from these two cultures, there are
instances when they conflict each other. For example, when communicating with an individual from
the Sri Lankan community I am more polite and use a more gentle tone of voice. This is often
interpreted as shy or soft spoken by an individual with an American background. Because I am often
told to speak louder, I realized that the Sri Lankan method of communication surpassed the American

Novel Heads by Harry Written by Lois-Ann Yamanaka Takes Us...
Lois Ann Yamanaka s fictional novel Heads by Harry is a remarkably raw and exciting read that dives
the reader into the lives of the working class people of Hilo during the 1970 s and 1980 s. Based on
the life of Antoinette Toni Yagyuu, a Japanese American girl who grew up in Hilo, Yamanaka s novel
does an exceptionally well job capturing the lives, personalities, and hardships many of these people
faced during this time. She creates a secondary world that is reflective of the Hilo in the 70 s and 80 s
and brings it to life through the geography and experiences she depicts within the novel (Kneale,
2003). As the daughter of a local taxidermist and school teacher, Toni, the protagonist of the novel,

When she moved back, her sexual encounters with family friends Wyatt and Maverick Santos grew

Her relationship with Billy blossomed into mutual feelings for one another; however, Toni refused to
take it to the next level due to the fact that Billy was younger than her, a Haole, and was considered as

family deeply ashamed by her actions. She did not finish college, was not married, and now she was

of her life and her father s new found joy and hope that had once died when Toni did not meet his
expectations. Toni later became the co owner of her father s business and finally felt accepted into her

Scientific Theories Are Not Random Guesses
Growing up, I have been taught to believe that the universe was first created by God and that all of
mankind shared that same ancestors, Adam and Eve. However, if one s belief is that of science, then
they probably believe in Darwin s theory of evolution which states all organisms originated from
microscopic organisms who have changed and been modified over time. However, whatever your
theory may be, it is only plausible if it accurately describes an observation and makes definite
predictions about the results of future observations.
As the National Academy of Sciences explains, a scientific theory is a comprehensive explanation of
some aspect of nature that is supported by a vast body of evidence (Scientific). Scientific theories ...

They thought if we are nothing more than an animal, how can we be God s special creation? Most
American Protestants considered the Bible to be the literal truth. The Bible borrows from science
observations, and religion is what gives us the reason to pursue science. Universe was made from a
god that was already here. Creationist disagree with the theory of evolution because, similar to the
theory of gravity, they are just theories. Newton believed the same law controlling falling apples must
also control the movement of the planets. However, when he was asked what gravity is, he was unable
to answer the question. So creationist questioned whether or not gravity was really God. They figured
if it is an unknown force that no one has seen before, it had to the power of God. They came to this
conclusion because like gravity, we have never seen God, it could only make sense to them that God is
gravity.
There is a confusion between science and faith. The misconception is that the creation of Darwin s
theory led the scientific and theological communities need to take up positions opposing each other.
But history reveals that one of the earliest supporters of evolutionary theory in the American scientific
community was a devout Christian botanist named Asa Gray. Gray argued that divine guidance might
somehow channel the course of natural selection (Zimmer). He believed that faith is their belief,

The product that I recently purchased, and was satisfied with, was a Kent bicycle I bought for my son.
According to the book The Economist: Marketing, this particular product is considered consumer
goods . It was quite a purchasing process, and in the following paragraphs I will share with you the
steps I took to complete this purchase.
The first step, need recognition , was fairly simple: we moved from Hawaii and had to sell my son s
bike due to high shipping costs from the islands to the mainland, therefore, we were needing to buy a
replacement bike. We promised our son that if he were to make the sacrifice of giving up his old
bicycle, we would not only make sure the new one would be better quality, but he could also pick out

The Hospitality And Tourism Industry
The hospitality and tourism industry plays an essential role in global growth around the world. One of
the biggest key players is an airline industry. An airline industry contains both hospitality and tourism.
One of the key players to this industry is the cabin crew. However, according to Laszlo with recent
economic decline the airline industry is not in good health in terms of operation and customer service
organization said (1999). It is therefore, important to understand that the crews must perform function
as key player in an airline industry by providing various types of customer service, safety and security
threats, sales and promotion.
As cabin crews are playing a crucial role in the industry, they are to be selected carefully by the
human resources. The desired corporate skills sought for the crews are; a motivation to deliver high
standard customer service, team skills and commercial awareness. In addition to these skills, it is
necessary that an individual is interviewed and upon successful application, and to satisfy all other
needs for its industry. An airline cabin crews has been playing an essential role worldwide for more
than decade by comforting dozens of passengers around the world. The definition of providing
comfort to guests is, to also make a profit but as well as to make customers feel satisfied just like
staying at a hotel. Perhaps this might be the reason why an airline attracts many people around the
world. As a result of the popularity

My Reading Project On North On Freedom By Anne Holm.i Essay
I did my reading project on North to Freedom by Anne Holm.I enjoyed reading this book because of
its marvelous descriptions and scenery. I have never read a book from cover to cover because I lacked
the interest in reading. This made me extremely nervous about this project because my reading
comprehension level wasn t really high. I was afraid of making a bad grade. It s never been an
enjoyment to me. This book being the first that I ve read, has taught me more than just the events that
went on throughout the story. Im quite proud of myself for finishing this book because I Thought I
would never have the patience to do so. I thought this book was a great read. I would mainly like to
thank you for helping me choose this book because it had wonderful detail and was quite easy to
follow along to. All I know is I wanted something fiction, but I only knew of a few authors that wrote
big time books and series. I had no idea what to look for. I am also proud of myself for finishing this
book. I find it hard to finish books on my own time and that s why I never did. Yet, being forced to
read made me finish it, and in the end I got a little bit of enjoyment out of it. Without the great
descriptions of the scenery and chronological events, this book would have been quite boring and hard
to read. The author did a splendid job of clearly describing each event thoroughly enough to make it
almost like I was in David s shoes. My favorite part of the book was when David got off the

Paulo Freire
In novel, chapter 2 of Pedagogy of The Oppressed written by Paulo Freire we are introduced to two
educational concepts. Freire refers to the concepts as the banking concept and problem posing
concept. The banking concept is the assumption that the teacher controls and fills students with
selected information. Freire believes It is the people themselves who are filled away through lack of
creativity, transformation, and knowledge in this misguided system (Freire 1). On the other hand
Freire believes that the soulution to the education system is problem posing. This concept encourgaes
student dialogue, creativity, and discovery. Meaning that the student is free and in control of his
education. I believe Freire decribition of the banking concept is unconsintent. A teacher goal is not to
control and fill students with memorization. Instead, the goal is to expand a student mind with critical
information that sometimes needs memorization such as math equations, history, science, and
vocabulary.

Pros And Cons Of Cord Blood Banking
country are now recommending collecting the cord blood. There s only two things that (you can)

Dr. Marra Francis, Ob/Gyn, CBR medical consultant gives his medical and personal opinion of
collecting cord blood.
Cord Blood banking also has it s limitations. Researchers have discovered that it is actually harder for
adults to be treated with cord blood than bone marrow. Children usually receive one unit of cord blood
because their small bodies only need a small amount. Adults however need more than the one unit of
blood that children receive because their bodies are so much bigger. According to eurostemcells.org

Sick children whose parents did bank their blood sometimes cannot be used (Moniger, 67). Many
blood banks do not tell parents that if their children may develop a cancer or a disease early on in their

one of the main risks that deter parents from paying the cost for banking. Another negative aspect of
cord blood collection and banking is that if a mother who delivers twins would like to collect and store
her children s cord blood, she would not be able to. Both babies may have a different cord tissue type
and they may be mixed during the collection process making them virtually useless (The Truth about

The Sexualization Of Women And Girls
The sexualization of women and girls surround Americans and is damaging to females as well as to
American society. Females receive the sexualized messages regarding their appearance and how they
should act via the media, retailers, and American society s acceptance of these behaviors. As a mother,
Girl Scout Leader, and school paraprofessional I cannot help but to question are these messages
inflicting psychological damage on girls? Whom can I hold accountable for sexualizing female youth?
What can I do to prevent sexualization from affecting all of the young girls in my life? The
sexualization of girls is unacceptable because it is degrading to females, can cause serious life long
psychological damage and sexist attitudes, and may lead to violence against women and girls.
Sexualization differs from healthy sexuality. According to the American Psychological Association
Task Force (APA), healthy sexuality is something that develops spontaneously in people that have not
suffered any kind of traumatic sexual crisis. Healthy sexuality includes affection, a relationship and/or
companionship, respect, and healthy intimacy between consenting people (APA 1). Sexualization, on
the other hand, is something that is forced upon a person. The APA defines sexualization as a cause
that ensues when one of the following causes occur: A person s value comes only from his or her
sexual appeal or behavior, to the exclusion of other characteristics; 2.) A person is held to a standard

Poverty And The Effects Of Poverty
As a community guided by God, the Catholic Church is continually challenging its members and other
global communities to unite through charity, justice and subsidiarity to improve the livelihood of those
supressed by poverty. By definition, such poverty is detrimental to human rights outlined in the
Catholic Social Teachings (CSTs), and consequently, the Church has sought immediate aid for these
people. Due to the cyclical nature of poverty, actions of justice are also being encouraged to sustain its
reversal. Ideologies of benefactor supremacy aim to be inhibited through humility and the
implementation of citizen led strategies to eradicate poverty. However, the human nature presents
recurrent barriers, deterring the success of social ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These three principles decide the approach of the Church in the goal of poverty eradication.
Social justice begins with charity. Charity or the love [of] God above all things for his own sake, and
our neighbour as ourselves for the love of God (CCC 1822) calls Catholics to prioritise the needs of
the poor over those of the able to preserve dignity and protect life. Hence, charity is an enactment of
social justice. The invincibility of poverty stems from its ability to self propagate (Townsend 1979).
As a result, charity makes a worthy opponent as love grows through love (DCE 18) mimicking this
source of power. In addition, charity embraces truth (CIV 1) which supports education, the central
aspect of poverty reduction (Awan et.al. 2011; Cleveland 2014). From an academic perspective, above
all, the economic plight of the poor must be addressed to prevent human suffering. Maslow s
hierarchy of needs indicates that opportunity is debilitated (and poverty is induced) primarily when
physiological needs are withdrawn (Maslow 1943), justifying economic poverty to be the single most
urgent ... claim on the conscience (EJFA 86). Such warrants the inaction of financial relief (i.e.
mainstream charity) which the church has been involved in as the largest charitable organisation
(Regnerus 1998), contributing approximately six billion dollars annually (Paton 2017). Since God is
love (1 John

Diary Of Anne Frank Diary Analysis
The Diary of Anne Frank is story about a young teenage girl that was trying to hide from being
persecuted from the Nazis because of her religion. During that time, survival was the only thing that
was on her mind: How long she and her family were going to last. They hid behind a bookcase that led
to an attic. They stayed there for a while until they were found a couple years later. They were taken
back to a concentration camp. She died shortly after from a disease called typhus. The only thing that
remains is her diary that her father found to preserve her memory and insight to be in the mind of a
teenage girl during the war. The diary has many themes but the main ones are stress, grief, and mental
illness.
Stress was unavoidable during this time of her life. She was born in a wealthy family and worrying
about suitors for potential marriage material. She was worrying if she would be good enough for them
or if they ll be good enough for her father. She went from being young and care free to being young
and terrified. The day that they received the letter to work in the camps was the day that her youth and
innocence died. She didn t worry about her suitors as much after that because at the end of the day, she
could never trust them enough to tell them her secrets and innermost thoughts. She had to confide in a
diary that her father gave her to help cope with what was happening around her. She hardly had any
peace of mind knowing that they couldn t stay hiding for long. She

Essay on Point Clear, Alabama
For many, the quaint town of Point Clear, Alabama represents the Old South rooted in tradition,
charm, and grace. Halfway down the bay and nearly hidden among oaks adorned with Spanish moss,
Point Clear was founded in the early 1800s. Today, the city continues to honor its role in the Civil
War, perpetuates the memories of its residents, and evolves as a greater and better place. Following the
coast line, early Spanish explores first discovered Point Clear situated on the Bay of the Holy Spirit or
as it is known today, Mobile Bay. The town was named Punta Clara in 1800 by the Spanish explorers
because it was an easily identifiable landmark along the bay that marked the halfway point from the

1900s wealthy planters from all over the South flocked to the then Point Clear Hotel and the Texas Bar

Mobile and the Contiguous County and the Gulf Coast as Winter Resort for Health and Pleasure of
Invalids and other from the North and Northwest, in which he describes the pleasures that were found
in Point Clear. He explains:
Point Clear, a watering place about twenty miles from the city of Mobile, there is a large and elegant
hotel, filled in summer with visitors from Alabama, Mississippi, and Louisiana. It is also open in
winter to all who may desire to take advantage of the salt air from the Gulf. This watering place is the
finest, most healthy and most commodious in the South (Sulzby).
Also in similar nature, Fredric P. Ravesies, President of the Vine and Olive Society and original
resident of Spring Hill, wrote in 1884 that:

  • 2. Unrealistic Expectations In Saramago s Blindness Additionally, women all over the world are being subjected to cruelty by men and society because of the unrealistic expectations that society places on them. Unrealistic expectations expand from, expectations that are impossible to reach, to expecting too little from a person with potential for greatness. Women in today s society are expected to fulfill impossible tasks that no one person is capable of fulfilling, for example, women are expected to bare children and raise them to a certain standard and if they their children do not meet the standard then they are ridiculed and discriminated against. Also, women are belittled and suppressed by men because women are expected to only fulfill tasks and jobs that men do not want, for example receptionist. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Most of the men are older and have troubles just being able to participate in the conceiving of a child. Although obvious that the women are not getting pregnant because of the men, the government and the rest of the towns people blame the women for not being able to conceive. The impossible expectation that is placed on the women is also followed by consequences for the women. After a certain amount of time the women are cent to what they call the colonies to clean up nuclear waste Even in todays time, women are checked to see why they can not get pregnant before a doctor ever suggests that it could be the man. Women are the ones that are made to bare children. They are to take responsibility for everything that men do not want to. If a relationship does not work out it is the woman that has not worked to make a man want to stay. Unruly children are seen as not taught right by their mothers. If a boy is homosexual, then his mother babied him to much. A miscarriage must be because the mother did something wrong for example; did not eat proper food. Expectations are placed on women everyday that have two sides, but the women are the ones that are expected to fulfill the tasks and if something goes wrong it is her fault, not the other party for not assisting. Myth as a semiological system in August Wilson s Gem of the Ocean, Joe Turner s Come and Gone and The Piano Lesson Abstract Myths are one of the most important elements included in the history of not only African American lives but also the lives of each and every one of us. Myths are inevitable human resources at times when no other idea justifies our being. As Barthes posits, for it is human history which converts reality into speech, and it alone rules the life and the death of mythical language. Ancient or not, mythology can only have an historical foundation, for myth is a type of speech chosen by history: it cannot possibly evolve from the nature of things. This study looks into the significance of Myths and their determining roles as semiological systems in August Wilson s dramatic twentieth century cycle plays; Gem of the Ocean, Joe Turner s Come and Gone and The Piano Lesson. In these plays, myths take the forms of individuals, rituals and even ancestral objects. It can be observed that each one of these elements performs the most important role in conveying the significance of the African American psyche and delicately portrays the eminent influence of ancestral backgrounds in shaping the lives of each character. The works of scholars such as Roland Barthes, Henry Gates, as well as many more, have been employed to better grasp this matter. A Mobile Ad Hoc network is receiving attention due to several salient characteristics such as:  Dynamic topologies  Bandwidth constrained links  Energy constrained operation  Limited physical security. Therefore the routing protocols for wired networks cannot be directly used for wireless networks. Some examples of the possible uses of Ad Hoc networking include students using laptop computers to participate in an interactive lecture, business associates sharing information during a meeting, soldiers relaying information for situational awareness on the battlefield and emergency disaster relief personnel coordinating efforts after a hurricane or earthquake. A MANET uses multi hop routing instead of a static network infrastructure to provide network connectivity. Several routing protocols have been proposed for MANETs. Initially, in this work, number of ways of classification or categorization of existing routing protocols and the survey on the performance comparison of important protocols such as AODV [2], DSR [3] and DSDV [4] are presented. A number of researchers have done the performance analysis of Ad Hoc Routing protocols over the years using different simulators like NS2, Qualnet, Opnet etc. From the survey of QoS Models and Protocols of the IP network such as IntServ, DiffServ, FQMM (Flexible QoS Model for MANET), RSVP etc., it is observed that they ... Reisner then moves on and goes into detail about the Powell Expedition of 1869 and says that explorers found land that was dry and bare that showed no sign of vegetation which than got the name of the Great American Desert. After the discussion of the barren land, Reisner briefly discussed the Homestead Act and how it affected people and how it granted access and ownership of land to people. • 13. Borders Are The Worst Invention Ever Made By Politicians... The Problem Borders are the worst invention ever made by politicians, Jean Claude Juncker, the European Commission president stated this while reflecting on globalization s failed promise of borderless nations, and the creation of borders more rigid than ever (2016). Across the world, wall building has become the common political strategy used by nations who deem physical barriers as the only way to deal with difficult neighboring nations. The increasing fortification of borders as not just a political line, but as an established physical barrier, responds to the security and migration issues at a global level. Border walls are used for varying purposes, walls can separate opposing forces; often, they are used to make territorial claims; however the more problematic use, is the keep out unwanted groups. When the Berlin Wall fell nearly three decades ago, there were 16 border walls in the world; today the number is ever growing with over 70 completed border walls globally (Brunet Jailly, 2016). Experts agree that walls do not address the root problems of security and migration, supported by the fact that global refugee applications and terrorist attacks have increased tremendously even though countries have walled themselves off; which leaves unanswered questions as to the real reason walls are still being built. Although building a wall has become a common political strategy in response to global concerns of security and migration, nations should consider the reasoning ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 14. The Vs. Static Budgeting Essay When we compare the static budget with the actual results, there has been a decrease of 2000 cart rentals, which cause $50,000 unfavorable variance. Moreover, there is an unfavorable variance of $200 from the static budget and this is due to the increase in the Labor cost. But when it comes to the gas and oil there has been a decrease, which cause $1100 favorable variance. So the difference between the actual operating profits and the static budgeting for April is $49100 ($50,000U + $200U $1100F). In my opinion almost of all the differences between the actual operating profits and the static budgeting for April is due to the reduced cart rentals from 6000 to 4000. When we compare the flexible budget with the actual results, there is an unfavorable variance of $200, this is due to the increase in the Labor cost and also there is an unfavorable variance of $900 from the flexible budget and this is because gas and oil were over the budget. In the case of flexible budget, labor, gas and oil were over the budget which cause unfavorable variance of $1100 ($200 + $900). The $200 unfavorable variance in labor is probably insignificant and the $900 gas and oil difference is likely a timing difference between when the gas and oil are purchased and when they are actually used. b. Newton believed the same law controlling falling apples must also control the movement of the planets. However, when he was asked what gravity is, he was unable to answer the question. So creationist questioned whether or not gravity was really God. They figured if it is an unknown force that no one has seen before, it had to the power of God. Charity or the love [of] God above all things for his own sake, and our neighbour as ourselves for the love of God (CCC 1822) calls Catholics to prioritise the needs of the poor over those of the able to preserve dignity and protect life. Hence, charity is an enactment of social justice. The invincibility of poverty stems from its ability to self propagate (Townsend 1979). As a result, charity makes a worthy opponent as love grows through love (DCE 18) mimicking this source of power.
