Batman Hero
Heroic
For decades, I have been obsessed with Batman. There I said it! In the 60 s I watched everyday, at the
same Bat time on the same Bat channel the Caped Crusader [Adam West] give The Joker and other
villains their due justice.
Since 2000 we ve had 25 superhero movies from Marvel and DC. There are 19 more Marvel and DC
movies confirmed and 3 unconfirmed movies due between 2017 to 2020. DC Comics has six
televisions show on that have been airing since 2012 with nine currently in development. Since 2013,
Marvel Comics has two shows on ABC, six on Netflix, with three waiting to be picked up by Netflix.
They also currently have seven shows in development.

Well, we all have a deep desire to break free of our limits and live a bold and meaningful life. Heroes
have the ability to rise above their fears and limitations to achieve something inconceivable,
something exceptional, something bold! Count me. That s what I want on my tombstone. She was
exceptional, animated, fearless and bold until the day she died.
Batman, Superman, Spiderman, Iron Man ... and all the other beloved heroes embody the best we see
in ourselves. They inspire us. They each have a human side that struggles with the same day to day
obstacles and events we struggle with. From work to love. We watch those events unfold and we see
them cope, fail and win as a human.
Then [drum roll] out of the blue, or as scripted by the writer, an emergency strikes, and they step up.
Even stepping up as a superhuman we watch as they attempt to tackle the problem. Many times, if not
always, failing on their first attempt. What makes them a Superhero, more then even their
superpowers, is their ability to believe in themselves, and continue to fight the fight. Face their fear,
and overcome their battles.
This is something any one of us can learn to do. And must learn to do to if we plan on achieving our
goals and

Customer Orientation Of Airport Service Quality
Introduction
The aviation industry is one that is consistently changing and the demand in air travel is on the rise.
With the rise in air travel, airports need to be able to handle the traffic. But the problem is that service
quality in an airport declines when the airport has reached its design peak hour or even exceeded it.
This simply means the airport cannot handle the amount of passengers it has thus customer
satisfaction decreases.
Today s air travelers have meaningful choices among airports and there is an increasing urgency
among airport marketers to differentiate themselves by meeting the needs of customers better than the
competition. While passengers perception of airport service quality is only one of several variables
(e.g. routes, scheduling, location and prices) that contribute to overall airport attractiveness, it is
nevertheless an important variable because of the increasing importance of a customer orientation to
competitive advantage in this industry.(Fodness Murray, 2007)
Solving it would result in a more efficient airport which can reduce the amount of delays at an airport
whether is from aircraft landing or taking off or passenger traffic within the terminal thus giving the
airport an advantage over the competition by becoming a preferred airport.
Literature Review
Airports are a place where passengers encounter a bundle of tangible and intangible services in what
Bitner (1992) has characterized as an elaborate services cape . The

Closed Loop Essay
Abstract Closed loop feedback control approaches allow precise, real time control of neural activity
pattern to lock spiking activity to specific target spiking rate within neural network. This approaches
enable investigators to tune the internal brain state into a desired state, induce or disrupt the related
frequency of neural network in order to achieve a specific functionality. Here we implement a
continuous, precise closed loop feed back control to lock the firing rate at specific targeted spiking
activities in moto cortex of isoflurane anesthetized rats and in a computational network level model.
We found that controllability of neural activity strikingly varies as neural state changes, furthermore
we found it trade off between ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Why does a quiescent animal evoke a larger response and adaptation comparing to an active and
awake animal? There is a hypothesis that when cortex maintains the synchronized state in an
anesthetized and quiescent awake animal, synapses are often in resting state so they are electrically
less active. Therefore, they can save energy to perform other functions [26, 27]. Also, when the cortex
evokes a large response to the first stimulus in a high repetitive stimulus within synchronization, it
leaves less energy for response to other stimuli in the train therefore the response would suppress
stronger in synchronized than the desynchronized state. Despite apparent complex state dependency of
cortical response, investigators developed a simple excitable model to predict subsequent sensory
response using background ongoing activity prior to the presentation of stimuli, they estimated the
parameters of the model using spontaneous activity prior to the onset of stimuli. Model dynamics was
changed to reproduce different cortical states, a nonlinear, self exciting system generated synchronized
state and a linear system in reproduced desynchronized states. response to an isolated unattended
stimulus was quantitatively predicted on a trial by trial basis using a simple dynamical system, it was
shown that response is generated based on the same dynamics as spontaneous activity [28]. Closed

The Basic Characteristics Of Humanism During The Renaissance
Some of the basic characteristics of Humanism especially during the beginning were that it mostly
consisted and was centralized around Italy. The reading mentions that something that made Italy
different from Europe was that their members were part of the clergy. Being part of the clergy
defiantly have them an advantage in which they had some governmental and educational experience.
Something else that the reading mentions is that humanism meant rhetoric and literature bases. In my
opinion, this was really important because it focuses more attention on the importance of education,
history, and literature. This was just a starting point of what education and the importance of it would
eventually become. The beginning of humanism also bega the practicing of history, one in which
people actually wrote in means of history actually writing for it. Humanitism increased in popularity
and therefore inspired others to learn and do the same. Italians viewed this situation as a preparation
for the public life. With this, not only people benefit but the whole society as a whole were benefited.
The classical value overall during the Renaissance was very impacting. I believe this because not only
did the Humanism thinking and Humanists help somehow develop better ways of thinking. This not
only opened new ways, but also better ways to think, act, and even create. The development of
Humanism helped create interest in new and even some controversial ideas. Rhe reading mentions that

The United States And The Soviet Union
In the post World War II era, the competition of global supremacy between the superpowers of the
time, United States and the Soviet Union resulted in the Cold War. Many countries in the world were
pulled into this rivalry including many of the states of the Middle East. Allies against the Soviet Union
received substantial quantities of United States aid and were encouraged to purchase weapons of
Western means. Those who were in opposition to the United States power received economic and
military assistance from the Soviet Union. The United States were inclined to view the rivalry
between them and the Soviet Union as a vie for global supremacy. The challenge of attaining
democracy in the Middle East has been insufficient leadership specifically in those who shared a
common border and were in proximity to the Soviet Union. The United States, in their determination
to impede the threat of expansion of the borders of the Soviet Union as well as contain the spread of
communion, provided economic and military assistance to keep Iran, Iraq and Turkey politically
stable. Although this was the goal of the United States, they actually impeded the democracy and
political stability of these countries through its persistent influence in government affairs, determining
its future s livelihood.
Saddam Hussein, president of Iraq in the post Cold War Era, used his political affiliation with the Ba
th Party as stepping stone to attain the presidency of his country. In 1966, his uncle,

High Anxiety With Mixed Emotions
Being deployed through Matterhorn caused high anxiety with mixed emotions. The soldiers you
become family with and you learn that the higher ranking officers are not your friends or family. The
racial problems are brought from home to the jungle and even though you fight side by side with these
attitudes, a worry of trouble erupting in your own company is a constant. We are taken through the
Vietnam War encountering the entire struggle, heartache, and gripping physical and mental pain from
the deployed soldiers barely old enough to obtain a driver s license. The plans placed on paper
constituting plans of attack are not sufficient for the current war zone and the colonel whom is
nowhere near just wants the men to keep going no matter what the cost. The goal of the directing rank
is to keep the body count of the Vietnamese high and they are not against turning reported probables
into confirmed numbers. Marlantes insight into Matterhorn was appalling; the men were treated with
the utmost disrespect when it came to their basic needs. The lack of resupply, FAC man, the company
s enlisted forward air controller, has once again not been able to talk a resupply chopper down through
the clouds, so this had been the fourth day without resupply, limited the men from functioning
properly. The men who had been injured were holding on to hope that a medivac would come. To me
this is completely unacceptable. These men were sent to Vietnam to fight a war they did not start

The Ku Klux Klan History
The Ku Klux Klan and its history in the State of Colorado
There are many hate groups that are very notorious or infamous in history one of the biggest and
powerful to ever form is the Ku Klux Klan. Many groups have formed throughout history but few
have gained as much influence and power at a wide scale or at the speed that they were capable of
dominating an entire state. I picked the Klan for these very reasons when people think of highly
intolerant attitudes and practices what typically comes to mind is the south although the south clearly
has problems most people are not aware that most of the states with highly intolerant view and racism
and discrimination issue lie outside the south such places as Indiana and Michigan, One however that
really surprised me is the state of Colorado somewhere that I have lived my entire life as it turns out I
don t know a whole lot about its history as it turns out the Klan was huge in the state in the early 20 s.
I will now be discussing how, when, and why the Klan ceased power in the State.
In 1915 a resurrection of the group was called upon by a man named Joseph Simmons in Georgia
however the following of people was not a very big out comes just about five thousand people joined
this happened in Alabama and Georgia. (Noel, 2013). At the time there was a very big protestant

learned a lot about the state that I really never had any idea about growing up here I could of never

Examples Of Pluralism In The Constitutional Convention

The Idea of Pluralism in the Constitution Convention and the ratification debate
The constitutional conventions importance is indisputable, it is one of the biggest turning points in
history and it is also an event that continues to affect politics to this day. It can t be ignored, the
constitutional convention has such a big historical significance and such a direct impact on America.
People have tried to examine the workings behind the constitutional convention and the ratification
debate. Many people debate whether the constitutional convention was based on an Idea of pluralism a
situation in which people of different social classes, religions, races, etc., are together in a society but
continue to have their different traditions and interests or elitism leadership or rule by an elite being.
The states involved in this convention were groups that interacted and discussed there concerns and
interests in order to create the constitution. In these groups there where delegates that were chosen to
represent each state, some people felt strongly for this and some felt strongly against it. They were
conflicting because some people felt that they needed a strong central government and some felt the
need to give the power equally to the people and the government. They wanted the large states to have
more influence than the smaller states and the smaller states felt threatened but they came to a
compromise which

Patients Cultural Beliefs
Your post is very thorough! I enjoyed reading your example of specific diets in relation to culture, and
I would like to share how we incorporate patients cultural beliefs in my hospital . On my unit, we
complete a database for every patient admitted. The database covers everything from current living
conditions, assistance received or needed, advance directives, willing to receive blood products,
belongings at the bedside, and cultural beliefs. We ask all our patients if they have any special diet
restrictions, whether personal or medical choices. We also ask the patient if there are any cultural or
spiritual beliefs that would impact their healthcare. We offer communion, prayer, and anointment
services. We supply our patients with bibles and other spiritual or cultural symbolic properties upon
request. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This represent patient empowerment because most of our patients are in a vulnerable and sensitive
state, therefore, addressing their cultural beliefs and giving them the options to incorporate their
beliefs within their healthcare allows providers to support their decisions to do so. This gesture also
shows the patient that we understand the importance of their values. Completing this database with
our patients establishes a supportive environment. The success of the care plan depends on the
attention paid in the service setting to patient culture, skills, convenience, information, costs, and
implementation of the care decision (Paget et al., 2012, p.3). I believe we do a good job of establishing
the supportive environment and incorporating our patient s cultural beliefs during their admission, and
within their care

Original Grizzly Bear Flag By Robert B. Ide And Men
California was ruled by the Spanish until the early 1800 s. Around 1822, news that Spain was backing
away from its northern colony reached California and led to some unrest and revolt. The state became
fully independent in 1836 and bears the Red Lone Star Flag which contained a single red star on a
white background. In the anticipation to end Mexican rule over the Free and Sovereign State of
California, Peter Storm designed the original Grizzly Bear Flag which was raised for the first time in
Sonoma, California in June 1846. Of those who raised the first flag includes William B. Ide and men
who became known as the Bear Flaggers. California was part of Mexico since its independence in
1821. It was called the department of Alta California and a province of New Spain for many years.
William L. Todd, cousin of Mary Todd Lincoln, designed another California Bear Flag. The star on the
flag began in the 1863 Lone Star Flag. From the letter of William Todd to Los Angeles Express, he
said that the star came from using blackberry juice and in recognition of the California Lone Star Flag,
and the bear was made to symbolized strength and unyielding resistance. Most think that the bear on
the first bear flag resembles the grizzly, but it resembles more of a common American black bear
because it shows the lack of shoulder hump and narrow muzzle. There was a brief history on the
original Bear Flag and the republic it symbolized during June to July 1846. A small group of American

Theme Of Metadrama In A Midsummer Night Dream
Shakespeare Question 1 Metadrama in A Midsummer Night Dream. Metadrama refers to a play
featured in the plot of another play. Shakespeare presents metadrama in A Midsummer Night Dream in
several ways. There is evidence of metadrama in the soliloquy by Helena at the end of the Act 1. In
this instance, Helena talks about her emotions and feelings. She goes on to act out her emotions stating
that it is not possible to grasp love by the eyes. She says that love can only be captured via perception.
The soliloquy sets up the ground work for other such instances in the acts that follow. It is important
to observe the relationship between eye and I in Helena s soliloquy as a rhyme. Through Athens I am
thought as fair as she. But what of that? Demetrius thinks not so. He will not know what all but he do
know. And as he errs, doting on Hermia s eyes. So I, admiring of his qualities. (Act 1, scene 1) Helena
follows Demetrius into the forest as she sings with love and kindness. While this does not qualify as
soliloquy, it falls under metadrama as the playwright wishes to share Helena s message with the
audience. Her actions are self contradictory if one refers to her previous soliloquy. She is unable to
fathom or accept that Demetrius does not love her. This should be contrasted to her earlier claims that
it is not possible to grasp love by the eyes. Shakespeare develops the paradox as an important
exemplification of metadrama in A Midsummer Night Dream. Helena s character is a product of her
era such that contradiction is a rarity. Discrepancy between actions and words was seen as egoism and
was only accepted in fiction as opposed to the society. Like Shakespeare, many playwrights from the
era did not shy away from including such metadramatic devices in their plays. Helena has the social
traits of her time making it difficult for the audience to accept her actions toward Demetrius as
anything other than dramatic acts. For a Renaissance woman, the audience would expect her to portray
a higher level of realism. Then to the wood will he to morrow night. Pursue her; and for this
intelligence. If I have thanks, it is a dear expense. But herein mean I to enrich my pain. (Act 1, scene
1) As hinted above, the first

The Role Of Women In The Ancient World
As the author, Rachel Wolchin, once said, Behind every great man stands no woman. There is no
greater man than the man that can acknowledge the woman standing right next to him. Over the
course of history, there has been a progressional change in how society has treated women. Although
many times, we notice either an individual or a group of women that have looked past social
boundaries and redefined the role of women, there is very little recognition of the accomplishments of
these women, and history often encompasses the efforts of men. This is illustrated especially in the
studies of ancient civilizations. We notice throughout many eras that the role of women is pertaining
to the household or bearing children, and that men were the head ... Show more content on

with success in a way that has left a lasting change in the course of history, such as charisma,

naturally in an environment where one is needed. The theory was called the Great Man theory because
it was influenced by how society would associate success and strong leadership with traits that can be
stereotypically called masculine . Under the belief that women do not possess these characteristics,
society would dislike the idea of women in leadership. Yet, we still saw many women in a leadership
position such as women in ancient civilizations and later in more modern society, the Famous

Teen Suicide And Suicide
Recent studies have shown a rise in both teen suicides and self harm among adolescent girls. Suicide
among adolescent girls may occur as a result of mental disorders, drug misuse, cultural, family and
social situations, genetics, and most of all, cyberbullying (Ehmke). Based on a 2015 study, about 20%
of adolescent girls in the U.S. consider suicide and between 5% and 8% of them attempt suicide each
year (Ehmke). In 2014 alone, 150 girls out of 10 million, between the ages of ten and fourteen,
committed suicide due to cyberbullying among other related factors (Graham). Medical experts warn
that excessive social media and smartphone use may lead to cyberbullying. Most victims of
cyberbullying often experience a great deal of stress and anxiety leading to suicidal ideation (Ehmke).
An analysis by Jean Twenge, in The Atlantic, confirms that cyberbullying is more strongly related to
suicidal thoughts in adolescents than traditional bullying (Twenge). Some estimates suggest that
depending on the country of origin between 5% and 20% of adolescent girls are victims of physical,
verbal or exclusion based bullying, while 15% to 30% of them are victims of cyberbullying (Twenge).
The relationship between cyberbullying and suicide has only been explored in a few studies, but Jean
Twenge s analysis strongly suggests that cyberbullying is a major risk factor for suicide ideation in
adolescent girls (Twenge).
The new analysis by Jean Twenge tests this evidence by reviewing all

Timber Shortages In The 1770s
This essay deals with the three shortages of masts and timber in the 1770s, 1803, and 1808, and
considers how the navy dealt with these shortages. In the War of American Independence and the
Napoleonic Wars, the Royal Navy often faced the risk of the shortages of these goods. In the second
half of the eighteenth century, Britain gained the maritime supremacy in the Atlantic and the Indian
Ocean, and constructed many ships both for the navy and for the merchants. However, as Britain
could not produce the sufficient quantity of naval stores in her own country, Britain depended on the
import of naval stores from several areas. Masts from Norway, Russia, and New England, pitch and
tar from Carolina, iron from Sweden, and hemp from Russia greatly contributed to British naval
power in the long eighteenth century. The dependant position ... Show more content on

Although Albion s work is comprehensive and deals with the long term supply of woods, he pays little
attention to the contribution of the Baltic masts and timber for the navy in the War of American

more attention to the European situation as he focuses on oak and hemp. Crimmin deals with the only
the early nineteenth century. Existing studies did not firmly draw a comparison of the measures
against the timber shortages and illustrate the relationship among the navy s attempts of the
procurement of masts and timber. This essay focuses on the continuity of the measures against timber

Analysis Of Joyce Carol Oates sWhere Are You Going, Where...
As teenage girls progress through life, the need to be perfect rides on their back, causing dreams and
the fulfillment of wishes to be yearned for. The ultimate need to be beautiful creates life long effects
within the minds of woman, later generating the demand of many unrealistic aspirations. While many
believe that dreaming is a figment of the imagination, it can be described as a longing desire of
hopeful achievements, expectations and future goals. For example, in Sigmund Freud s book The
Interpretation of Dreams he states, dreams are nothing other than the fulfillment of wishes (Freud
118). Throughout Where Are You Going, Where Have You Been? by Joyce Carol Oates, the author
uses setting, characterization, and plot to portray Connie s mentality of being stuck in a dream.
Within the short story, one may see that the setting and Connie s surroundings play an important role
in characterizing moments of total equilibrium and satisfaction. As she is enclosed upon many
environmental changes, Connie s depictions are decided upon where she is located and what different
obstacles she is confronted with. According to the author, while she was at the drive in movie She
drew her shoulders up and sucked in her breath with the pure pleasure of being alive (Oates 2). During
the time she is away from life at home, Connie receives a sense of true freedom she has never felt
before, a feeling in which someone in only a calming daze would encounter. She is confronted with

quakes, what are the strongest type of earthquake, and how do we measure earthquakes. The second
video the class watched, showed video footage of the aftermath of some earthquakes that have
happened in history. The video showed destruction of buildings, and how earthquakes can cause
tsunamis and the destruction that tsunamis also cause. The point of this video was to show the students
how important the engineering of building is, and got them to start thinking about their own bridges
and how they can withstand an earthquake. We did not directly discuss bridges this week though, our
focus was primarily on earthquakes.
When we broke up into our teams, my team was trying to answer two specific questions; what are the
effects of an earthquake? And can we build earthquake proof buildings. I worked with two boys in the
class, Kendall and Sean to help answer these questions. To answer these questions each of the students
had a laptop and used Google Classroom to access links to websites the teachers provided to answer
these questions. We discussed what the effects of an earthquake are, this included destruction of
buildings, fatalities,

The Secret Annexe, By Anne Frank
The Secret Annexe was considered to be an old factory where Anne Frank s father Otto Frank used to
work. An old house was present at the back of it i.e. the place where Anne Frank and her family i.e.
eight Jews stayed during two years of the Second World War. The Secret Annexe was very small,
clumsy and very uncomfortable to live in. There were only few rooms which were present in the
Secret Annexe to live in. So, to live in the Secret Annexe, the families had to share between
themselves. Anne shared her room with Dr. Dussel. Otto,Edith and Margot also shared their room. Mr.
and Mrs.Van Daan also shared a room. Peter had his own small room with the stairs leading to the
attic. Besides the bedrooms, the only other rooms which were present in the Secret Annexe were the
attic and the bathroom. There was a kitchen, but it was in the bottom floor of the house, which was not
considered part of the Secret Annexe. The Secret Annexe was present just above the street level, but
there was no guarantee at all that people who walk by the road couldn t see Anne and other people. On
the first day of their Secret Annexe as they moved in, they made dark curtains to hang up over the
windows, so no one could see o peep inside the Annexe. The curtains were not exactly real curtains.
They were only loose strips of material, all different shapes, quality and pattern which Anne and her
father sewed together in a very unprofessional way. As Anne had mentioned in her diary that These

Examples Of Hyperboles And Pathos In The Giraffe
The short story The Giraffe by Mauro Senesi uses hyperboles and pathos to demonstrate how quick
society is to discriminate and be neglectful based on the fear of the unknown. Ultimately depicting
that misconceptions created by society can influence how change is perceived and welcomed. The
Giraffe is a fictional short story that is about a giraffe that is introduced into an environment where
mentalities are outdated when it comes to things that are out of the norm . This new tall animal is
viewed as a massive threat and is severly unwelcomed by the townspeople. Although the giraffe was
not welcome the boys of this small town decide to keep it but face jurastic consquences when caring
for the animal becomes a hassle.
Firstly, Senesi uses hyperboles in The Giraffe to show how society despises new ideas and change,
which restricts citizens to adapt to grow as people in society. An example when the boys were walking
with the giraffe through the streets of the village they described the roofs couldn t imprison that high
head, and [...] the giraffe [was] our periscope, to see from up above who knows what, who knows
where (Senesi, line 47 51). Clearly this quote is a hyperbole since the boys and giraffe are walking on
the streets and a roof is unable to inprison someone who is walking outdoors. What the author is trying
to convey is that the boys are starting to pay attention to issues in their community that they used to be
oblivious to. Furthermore, Senesi criticizes how

Octavian and Marc Antony- The Duel of Words and Deeds
Octavian and Marc Antony The Duel of Words and Deeds Following the Julius Caesar s death at the
hands of the Senate, Octavian and Marc Antony propelled themselves to the pinnacle of Roman
power. First joining together during the Second Triumvirate, these men represented the true power
players of Roman politics. As their alliance fractured, both Romans resorted to propaganda to gain an
edge over the other. Through insulting the other and polishing their own image, both Antony and
Octavian looked to capture absolute Roman dominance. Even before their eventual war in 32 B.C.E.,
the men engaged in a duel of words in deeds. This paper will first overview the formation and
disintegration of Second Triumvirate between Marc Antony, Marcus Lepidus, and Octavian. Its main
portion will divulge the devious propaganda, leading up to the war in 32 B.C.E., used by Marc Antony
and Octavian to destroy the other politically. Plutarch s Antony and Suetonius The Lives of the
Caesars The Deified Augustus(De Vita Caesarum Divus Augustus) will serve as our main guide to this
war of image. After the assassination of Julius Caesar, Marc Antony, Marcus Lepidus, and Octavian
met in October 43 BC to join together, rule the entire government of Rome, and the control the Roman
provinces. In power, they were equal to the consuls and had the right to select magistrates. The
triumvirs mission, during their first five year term, can be broken down into three objectives: to pursue
and punish the

The Natural Resources Of The Earth
Misjudged Land The Earth has an ability to produce natural resources, provide land to build on, and
absorb waste. This is known as the bio capacity of the Earth, and it can only take so much to keep the
planet healthy and clean. It takes about a year and a half to generate the resources that the human
population only uses in a year. Therefore, if it continues at this rate, according to the World Wildlife
Fund, by the year 2050, the human population is anticipated to use an equivalency of two Earths worth
of renewable sources in only one year. The planet Earth can only produce so much in one year, and
doubling the amount is far from possible. There are many threats on the planet Earth to prevent it from
providing what is demanded, in which people do not realize are a part of a day to day routine. Just as
the Earth is evolving, human life and wildlife is expanding its population as well and consequently, all
residents of the planet should be aware of saving the Earth from demolishing everyone and everything
in it. Cutting down forests for the sake of human utilization may be beneficial, however it will
decrease the benefits of Earth as a whole. The act of deforestation may be considered a gateway to the
extinction of all living things on the Earth. Better choices need to be made that reflect the way the
environment is responding and it all starts by understanding what the Earth already has and needs to
continue to maintain. Considering the planet and everything that is

Iconography Of The Good Shepherd
The purpose of this thesis is to compare and contrast iconography of the Good Shephard, in relation to
the status of the Good Shepherd as one of the most popular icons representing Jesus, its origins in
pagan art, and the use of similar subject matter. The two images reviewed here cover the period of the
early stages of Christianity within the Roman Empire, and are depictions of the Good Shephard using
different format and technique.
The Merriam Webster description of iconography is traditional or conventional images or symbols
associated with a subject and especially a religious or legendary subject . While a Latin word, its
etymology is Greek, from eikon, from eikenai, to resemble. At some point after the death of Christ, as

Rev. 7:17 , and as someone who would not leave his flock behind,
The Shepherd represents Jesus who will search devotedly for even one lost Child of God until it
is found. (Luke 15) The Good Shepherd is also pictured next to bodies of water which
reaffirms the idea of the Good Shepherd being Jesus. Moreover, both miracles of
empowerment occur at a body of water, and it is possible that Jesus other mighty works related

For Issesos and other initiats, these images likely indicated the kind of poer over nature and fate
they hoped would be enacted through these rituals.
In the catacomb of Saint Callixtus, in the early 3rd century in Rome, The Good Shepherd is found on
the roof of the catacomb in a circle with surrounding semi circles encompassing him. This style is
very similar to the earlier styles found in Greek and Roman times. The middle circle is of him while
the surrounding circles are of what is believed to be his disciples. There is a general agreement among
scholars that the Christian Good Shephered carrying a lamb on his shoulders is derived from a Greek
prototype of which the Hermes Criophoros is an example although by no means the only one. In this
ceiling painting the Good Shepherd is shown holding a lamb with his right hand and in his left he his
holding the feed for the lambs. The use of the calf is less common than

Nadine Gordimer Research Paper
Being bon in a small gold minding town of Springs, South Africa, Nadine Gordimer was exposed to
the immigrant and racial status that flowed through the early 1930 s. It was very common for an
African American to be born in a Caucasian environment, but Nadine was a Caucasian born in an
African environment. Gordimer was born to parents that contradicted their geographical existence.
Her father was Jewish born and often occupied a stratum underneath the earlier settlers. Gordimer s
mother, Nan, had opposing opinions on blacks. Instead of complying with the discrimination blacks
were bound to receive, Nan felt repugnant towards the discrimination and therefore found a daycare
for the children of black workers. In solitary existence, with very

Illegal Migration
In this complex machinery that is illegal migration many theorist tend to only skim the surface by and
assume the most important determining factor in leaving or staying is solely based on the economic
aspects. This machine not only produces a numerous amount of illegal migration, it fosters it into a
sophisticated labor control system that is manipulated by social, market (labor and economic market)
and political factors. Although economic means is neither the only nor the most important determinant
in illegal migration it was indeed behind the birth of the exodus of mass populations. The economic
and labor market growths in the 21st century are both the primary factors and precursors for the

and Mexico. This U.S. Mexico agreement allowed Mexican citizens to obtain temporary agricultural
work in the United States. Although the braceros were required to obtain a certain permit, many illegal
braceros fell through the cracks and managed to enlist without protest from the U.S. government;
essentially they could care less as long as they were able to get the controlled labor they desired.
When looking at the illegal migration model as a well oiled machine that produces labor control, we
have highlighted two key components; the markets that started the machine and the political policies
that acted as the inner workings, directing the entire operation to the desired end result. The force that
keeps this machine going are social networks between illegal migrants. As more Mexicans immigrate,
typically men, the later send for their family and relatives, and since the communities in Mexico are so
tightly knit one neighbor hears of the others success in America they decide to take the dangerous
voyage as well. This process is the last factor that has maintained the process of transformation of
contemporary and historical illegal migration into labor control, by regularly feeding the machine new
migrants through the social networking in the U.S. and Mexico. During these illegal journeys migrants
are at the mercy of extreme elements, from the blistering heat and to the unbearable cold. In

Persuasive Essay About Travelling Solo
The most incredible thing about traveling solo is that you make all the decisions, right or wrong! You
decide where, how, when and what you will see and do. But certainly, it does not appeal to everyone,
and it does have a downside like not being able to share on the spot experiences with another. There is
no one to share the planning and discussions on the best way to achieve the final desired outcome.
However, traveling solo allows you to learn more about yourself and what you are capable of. Some
people think traveling solo is the boring option but I believe if you are capable of being happy
traveling by yourself, you will find happiness forever. Not only will you never have to depend on
others to make you content but when you travel solo you also give yourself the chance to pursue what
you want, to step out of your comfort zone and meet other people from all sorts of walks of life.
A brilliant idea to volunteer
While travelling abroad solo, volunteering stands out as a very prudent option to consider, especially
keeping you focused and motivated. For instance, if you have just completed your graduation and now
contemplating posting your C.V. on an online portal; in this competitive world, getting a job is a tough
thing. You have to be the best in your field. Resumes are flooded with extra curricular activities,
internships and last but not the least, work experience. However, most of us miss mentioning
involvement in volunteering activities in our resumes. Be a part of

In the 60 s I watched everyday, at the same Bat time on the same Bat channel the Caped Crusader [Adam West] give The Joker and other villains their due justice. Since 2000 we ve had 25 superhero movies from Marvel and DC. There are 19 more Marvel and DC movies confirmed and 3 unconfirmed movies due between 2017 to 2020. DC Comics has six televisions show on that have been airing since 2012 with nine currently in development. She was exceptional, animated, fearless and bold until the day she died. Batman, Superman, Spiderman, Iron Man ... and all the other beloved heroes embody the best we see in ourselves. They inspire us. They each have a human side that struggles with the same day to day obstacles and events we struggle with. From work to love. We watch those events unfold and we see them cope, fail and win as a human. Then [drum roll] out of the blue, or as scripted by the writer, an emergency strikes, and they step up. Even stepping up as a superhuman we watch as they attempt to tackle the problem. Many times, if not always, failing on their first attempt. What makes them a Superhero, more then even their superpowers, is their ability to believe in themselves, and continue to fight the fight. Face their fear, and overcome their battles. • 3. Customer Orientation Of Airport Service Quality Introduction The aviation industry is one that is consistently changing and the demand in air travel is on the rise. With the rise in air travel, airports need to be able to handle the traffic. But the problem is that service quality in an airport declines when the airport has reached its design peak hour or even exceeded it. This simply means the airport cannot handle the amount of passengers it has thus customer satisfaction decreases. Today s air travelers have meaningful choices among airports and there is an increasing urgency among airport marketers to differentiate themselves by meeting the needs of customers better than the competition. While passengers perception of airport service quality is only one of several variables (e.g. routes, scheduling, location and prices) that contribute to overall airport attractiveness, it is nevertheless an important variable because of the increasing importance of a customer orientation to competitive advantage in this industry.(Fodness Murray, 2007) Solving it would result in a more efficient airport which can reduce the amount of delays at an airport whether is from aircraft landing or taking off or passenger traffic within the terminal thus giving the airport an advantage over the competition by becoming a preferred airport. Literature Review Airports are a place where passengers encounter a bundle of tangible and intangible services in what Bitner (1992) has characterized as an elaborate services cape . The ... • 4. Closed Loop Essay Abstract Closed loop feedback control approaches allow precise, real time control of neural activity pattern to lock spiking activity to specific target spiking rate within neural network. This approaches enable investigators to tune the internal brain state into a desired state, induce or disrupt the related frequency of neural network in order to achieve a specific functionality. Here we implement a continuous, precise closed loop feed back control to lock the firing rate at specific targeted spiking activities in moto cortex of isoflurane anesthetized rats and in a computational network level model. We found that controllability of neural activity strikingly varies as neural state changes, furthermore we found it trade off between ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Why does a quiescent animal evoke a larger response and adaptation comparing to an active and awake animal? There is a hypothesis that when cortex maintains the synchronized state in an anesthetized and quiescent awake animal, synapses are often in resting state so they are electrically less active. Therefore, they can save energy to perform other functions [26, 27]. Also, when the cortex evokes a large response to the first stimulus in a high repetitive stimulus within synchronization, it leaves less energy for response to other stimuli in the train therefore the response would suppress stronger in synchronized than the desynchronized state. Despite apparent complex state dependency of cortical response, investigators developed a simple excitable model to predict subsequent sensory response using background ongoing activity prior to the presentation of stimuli, they estimated the parameters of the model using spontaneous activity prior to the onset of stimuli. Model dynamics was changed to reproduce different cortical states, a nonlinear, self exciting system generated synchronized state and a linear system in reproduced desynchronized states. response to an isolated unattended stimulus was quantitatively predicted on a trial by trial basis using a simple dynamical system, it was shown that response is generated based on the same dynamics as spontaneous activity [28]. • 5. The Basic Characteristics Of Humanism During The Renaissance Some of the basic characteristics of Humanism especially during the beginning were that it mostly consisted and was centralized around Italy. The reading mentions that something that made Italy different from Europe was that their members were part of the clergy. Being part of the clergy defiantly have them an advantage in which they had some governmental and educational experience. Something else that the reading mentions is that humanism meant rhetoric and literature bases. In my opinion, this was really important because it focuses more attention on the importance of education, history, and literature. This was just a starting point of what education and the importance of it would eventually become. The beginning of humanism also bega the practicing of history, one in which people actually wrote in means of history actually writing for it. Humanitism increased in popularity and therefore inspired others to learn and do the same. Italians viewed this situation as a preparation for the public life. With this, not only people benefit but the whole society as a whole were benefited. The classical value overall during the Renaissance was very impacting. I believe this because not only did the Humanism thinking and Humanists help somehow develop better ways of thinking. This not only opened new ways, but also better ways to think, act, and even create. The development of Humanism helped create interest in new and even some controversial ideas. Rhe reading mentions that the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. The United States And The Soviet Union In the post World War II era, the competition of global supremacy between the superpowers of the time, United States and the Soviet Union resulted in the Cold War. Many countries in the world were pulled into this rivalry including many of the states of the Middle East. Allies against the Soviet Union received substantial quantities of United States aid and were encouraged to purchase weapons of Western means. Those who were in opposition to the United States power received economic and military assistance from the Soviet Union. The United States were inclined to view the rivalry between them and the Soviet Union as a vie for global supremacy. The challenge of attaining democracy in the Middle East has been insufficient leadership specifically in those who shared a common border and were in proximity to the Soviet Union. The United States, in their determination to impede the threat of expansion of the borders of the Soviet Union as well as contain the spread of communion, provided economic and military assistance to keep Iran, Iraq and Turkey politically stable. Although this was the goal of the United States, they actually impeded the democracy and political stability of these countries through its persistent influence in government affairs, determining its future s livelihood. The soldiers you become family with and you learn that the higher ranking officers are not your friends or family. The racial problems are brought from home to the jungle and even though you fight side by side with these attitudes, a worry of trouble erupting in your own company is a constant. We are taken through the Vietnam War encountering the entire struggle, heartache, and gripping physical and mental pain from the deployed soldiers barely old enough to obtain a driver s license. The plans placed on paper constituting plans of attack are not sufficient for the current war zone and the colonel whom is nowhere near just wants the men to keep going no matter what the cost. The goal of the directing rank is to keep the body count of the Vietnamese high and they are not against turning reported probables into confirmed numbers. Marlantes insight into Matterhorn was appalling; the men were treated with the utmost disrespect when it came to their basic needs. The lack of resupply, FAC man, the company s enlisted forward air controller, has once again not been able to talk a resupply chopper down through the clouds, so this had been the fourth day without resupply, limited the men from functioning properly. Many groups have formed throughout history but few have gained as much influence and power at a wide scale or at the speed that they were capable of dominating an entire state. I picked the Klan for these very reasons when people think of highly intolerant attitudes and practices what typically comes to mind is the south although the south clearly has problems most people are not aware that most of the states with highly intolerant view and racism and discrimination issue lie outside the south such places as Indiana and Michigan, One however that really surprised me is the state of Colorado somewhere that I have lived my entire life as it turns out I don t know a whole lot about its history as it turns out the Klan was huge in the state in the early 20 s. I will now be discussing how, when, and why the Klan ceased power in the State. It can t be ignored, the constitutional convention has such a big historical significance and such a direct impact on America. People have tried to examine the workings behind the constitutional convention and the ratification debate. Many people debate whether the constitutional convention was based on an Idea of pluralism a situation in which people of different social classes, religions, races, etc., are together in a society but continue to have their different traditions and interests or elitism leadership or rule by an elite being. The states involved in this convention were groups that interacted and discussed there concerns and interests in order to create the constitution. In these groups there where delegates that were chosen to represent each state, some people felt strongly for this and some felt strongly against it. They were conflicting because some people felt that they needed a strong central government and some felt the need to give the power equally to the people and the government. • 12. Original Grizzly Bear Flag By Robert B. Ide And Men California was ruled by the Spanish until the early 1800 s. Around 1822, news that Spain was backing away from its northern colony reached California and led to some unrest and revolt. The state became fully independent in 1836 and bears the Red Lone Star Flag which contained a single red star on a white background. In the anticipation to end Mexican rule over the Free and Sovereign State of California, Peter Storm designed the original Grizzly Bear Flag which was raised for the first time in Sonoma, California in June 1846. Of those who raised the first flag includes William B. Ide and men who became known as the Bear Flaggers. California was part of Mexico since its independence in 1821. It was called the department of Alta California and a province of New Spain for many years. William L. Todd, cousin of Mary Todd Lincoln, designed another California Bear Flag. The star on the flag began in the 1863 Lone Star Flag. From the letter of William Todd to Los Angeles Express, he said that the star came from using blackberry juice and in recognition of the California Lone Star Flag, and the bear was made to symbolized strength and unyielding resistance. Most think that the bear on the first bear flag resembles the grizzly, but it resembles more of a common American black bear because it shows the lack of shoulder hump and narrow muzzle. • 13. Theme Of Metadrama In A Midsummer Night Dream Shakespeare Question 1 Metadrama in A Midsummer Night Dream. Metadrama refers to a play featured in the plot of another play. Shakespeare presents metadrama in A Midsummer Night Dream in several ways. There is evidence of metadrama in the soliloquy by Helena at the end of the Act 1. In this instance, Helena talks about her emotions and feelings. She goes on to act out her emotions stating that it is not possible to grasp love by the eyes. She says that love can only be captured via perception. The soliloquy sets up the ground work for other such instances in the acts that follow. It is important to observe the relationship between eye and I in Helena s soliloquy as a rhyme. Through Athens I am thought as fair as she. But what of that? Demetrius thinks not so. He will not know what all but he do know. And as he errs, doting on Hermia s eyes. So I, admiring of his qualities. (Act 1, scene 1) Helena follows Demetrius into the forest as she sings with love and kindness. While this does not qualify as soliloquy, it falls under metadrama as the playwright wishes to share Helena s message with the audience. Her actions are self contradictory if one refers to her previous soliloquy. She is unable to fathom or accept that Demetrius does not love her. This should be contrasted to her earlier claims that it is not possible to grasp love by the eyes. Shakespeare develops the paradox as an important exemplification of metadrama in A Midsummer Night Dream. Helena s character is a product of her era such that contradiction is a rarity. Discrepancy between actions and words was seen as egoism and was only accepted in fiction as opposed to the society. Like Shakespeare, many playwrights from the era did not shy away from including such metadramatic devices in their plays. Helena has the social traits of her time making it difficult for the audience to accept her actions toward Demetrius as anything other than dramatic acts. For a Renaissance woman, the audience would expect her to portray a higher level of realism. Then to the wood will he to morrow night. Pursue her; and for this intelligence. If I have thanks, it is a dear expense. But herein mean I to enrich my pain. (Act 1, scene 1) As hinted above, the first ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

There is no greater man than the man that can acknowledge the woman standing right next to him. Over the course of history, there has been a progressional change in how society has treated women. Although many times, we notice either an individual or a group of women that have looked past social boundaries and redefined the role of women, there is very little recognition of the accomplishments of these women, and history often encompasses the efforts of men. Suicide among adolescent girls may occur as a result of mental disorders, drug misuse, cultural, family and social situations, genetics, and most of all, cyberbullying (Ehmke). Based on a 2015 study, about 20% of adolescent girls in the U.S. consider suicide and between 5% and 8% of them attempt suicide each year (Ehmke). In 2014 alone, 150 girls out of 10 million, between the ages of ten and fourteen, committed suicide due to cyberbullying among other related factors (Graham). Medical experts warn that excessive social media and smartphone use may lead to cyberbullying. Most victims of cyberbullying often experience a great deal of stress and anxiety leading to suicidal ideation (Ehmke). An analysis by Jean Twenge, in The Atlantic, confirms that cyberbullying is more strongly related to suicidal thoughts in adolescents than traditional bullying (Twenge). Some estimates suggest that depending on the country of origin between 5% and 20% of adolescent girls are victims of physical, verbal or exclusion based bullying, while 15% to 30% of them are victims of cyberbullying (Twenge). The relationship between cyberbullying and suicide has only been explored in a few studies, but Jean Twenge s analysis strongly suggests that cyberbullying is a major risk factor for suicide ideation in adolescent girls (Twenge). In the War of American Independence and the Napoleonic Wars, the Royal Navy often faced the risk of the shortages of these goods. In the second half of the eighteenth century, Britain gained the maritime supremacy in the Atlantic and the Indian Ocean, and constructed many ships both for the navy and for the merchants. However, as Britain could not produce the sufficient quantity of naval stores in her own country, Britain depended on the import of naval stores from several areas. Masts from Norway, Russia, and New England, pitch and tar from Carolina, iron from Sweden, and hemp from Russia greatly contributed to British naval power in the long eighteenth century. • 20. Analysis Of Joyce Carol Oates sWhere Are You Going, Where... As teenage girls progress through life, the need to be perfect rides on their back, causing dreams and the fulfillment of wishes to be yearned for. The ultimate need to be beautiful creates life long effects within the minds of woman, later generating the demand of many unrealistic aspirations. While many believe that dreaming is a figment of the imagination, it can be described as a longing desire of hopeful achievements, expectations and future goals. For example, in Sigmund Freud s book The Interpretation of Dreams he states, dreams are nothing other than the fulfillment of wishes (Freud 118). Throughout Where Are You Going, Where Have You Been? by Joyce Carol Oates, the author uses setting, characterization, and plot to portray Connie s mentality of being stuck in a dream. Within the short story, one may see that the setting and Connie s surroundings play an important role in characterizing moments of total equilibrium and satisfaction. As she is enclosed upon many environmental changes, Connie s depictions are decided upon where she is located and what different obstacles she is confronted with. According to the author, while she was at the drive in movie She drew her shoulders up and sucked in her breath with the pure pleasure of being alive (Oates 2). During the time she is away from life at home, Connie receives a sense of true freedom she has never felt before, a feeling in which someone in only a calming daze would encounter. The Appellant For Breach Of Its Duty Of Care As An Occupier When descending a staircase to the appellant s ice rink, the respondent lost his balance and suffered a serious injury to his right ankle as a result. The respondent brought an action against the appellant for breach of its duty of care as an occupier. The primary judge, Levy SC DCJ, found on the calculus of negligence, that the risk of injury from slipping when descending wet stairs whilst wearing skates was foreseeable, not insignificant and one which a reasonable person in the position of the appellant would have taken precautions. This project takes place at Taft Elementary School, which is a public school in the Boise School District. Unfortunately, with the session on Thursday the 5th being moved up to Monday the 2nd, I was unable to attend that week. But I was able to attend the last session, and enjoyed catching up with the students and teachers involved with this project. The students watched this video, then discussed what they thought were the important take aways. The main points the teachers seemed to want the students to take away from that video is what causes earth quakes, what are the strongest type of earthquake, and how do we measure earthquakes. The second video the class watched, showed video footage of the aftermath of some earthquakes that have happened in history. The video showed destruction of buildings, and how earthquakes can cause tsunamis and the destruction that tsunamis also cause. The point of this video was to show the students how important the engineering of building is, and got them to start thinking about their own bridges and how they can withstand an earthquake. We did not directly discuss bridges this week though, our focus was primarily on earthquakes. When we broke up into our teams, my team was trying to answer two specific questions; what are the effects of an earthquake? And can we build earthquake proof buildings. I worked with two boys in the class, Kendall and Sean to help answer these questions. To answer these questions each of the students had a laptop and used Google Classroom to access links to websites the teachers provided to answer these questions. We discussed what the effects of an earthquake are, this included destruction of buildings, fatalities, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 23. The Secret Annexe, By Anne Frank The Secret Annexe was considered to be an old factory where Anne Frank s father Otto Frank used to work. An old house was present at the back of it i.e. the place where Anne Frank and her family i.e. eight Jews stayed during two years of the Second World War. The Secret Annexe was very small, clumsy and very uncomfortable to live in. There were only few rooms which were present in the Secret Annexe to live in. So, to live in the Secret Annexe, the families had to share between themselves. Anne shared her room with Dr. Dussel. Otto,Edith and Margot also shared their room. Mr. and Mrs.Van Daan also shared a room. Peter had his own small room with the stairs leading to the attic. Besides the bedrooms, the only other rooms which were present in the Secret Annexe were the attic and the bathroom. There was a kitchen, but it was in the bottom floor of the house, which was not considered part of the Secret Annexe. The Secret Annexe was present just above the street level, but there was no guarantee at all that people who walk by the road couldn t see Anne and other people. On the first day of their Secret Annexe as they moved in, they made dark curtains to hang up over the windows, so no one could see o peep inside the Annexe. The curtains were not exactly real curtains. They were only loose strips of material, all different shapes, quality and pattern which Anne and her father sewed together in a very unprofessional way. • 24. Examples Of Hyperboles And Pathos In The Giraffe The short story The Giraffe by Mauro Senesi uses hyperboles and pathos to demonstrate how quick society is to discriminate and be neglectful based on the fear of the unknown. Ultimately depicting that misconceptions created by society can influence how change is perceived and welcomed. The Giraffe is a fictional short story that is about a giraffe that is introduced into an environment where mentalities are outdated when it comes to things that are out of the norm . This new tall animal is viewed as a massive threat and is severly unwelcomed by the townspeople. Although the giraffe was not welcome the boys of this small town decide to keep it but face jurastic consquences when caring for the animal becomes a hassle. Firstly, Senesi uses hyperboles in The Giraffe to show how society despises new ideas and change, which restricts citizens to adapt to grow as people in society. An example when the boys were walking with the giraffe through the streets of the village they described the roofs couldn t imprison that high head, and [...] the giraffe [was] our periscope, to see from up above who knows what, who knows where (Senesi, line 47 51). Clearly this quote is a hyperbole since the boys and giraffe are walking on the streets and a roof is unable to inprison someone who is walking outdoors. What the author is trying to convey is that the boys are starting to pay attention to issues in their community that they used to be oblivious to. Furthermore, Senesi criticizes how ... Octavian and Marc Antony- The Duel of Words and Deeds Octavian and Marc Antony The Duel of Words and Deeds Following the Julius Caesar s death at the hands of the Senate, Octavian and Marc Antony propelled themselves to the pinnacle of Roman power. First joining together during the Second Triumvirate, these men represented the true power players of Roman politics. As their alliance fractured, both Romans resorted to propaganda to gain an edge over the other. Through insulting the other and polishing their own image, both Antony and Octavian looked to capture absolute Roman dominance. Even before their eventual war in 32 B.C.E., the men engaged in a duel of words in deeds. This paper will first overview the formation and disintegration of Second Triumvirate between Marc Antony, Marcus Lepidus, and Octavian. Its main portion will divulge the devious propaganda, leading up to the war in 32 B.C.E., used by Marc Antony and Octavian to destroy the other politically. This is known as the bio capacity of the Earth, and it can only take so much to keep the planet healthy and clean. It takes about a year and a half to generate the resources that the human population only uses in a year. Therefore, if it continues at this rate, according to the World Wildlife Fund, by the year 2050, the human population is anticipated to use an equivalency of two Earths worth of renewable sources in only one year. The planet Earth can only produce so much in one year, and doubling the amount is far from possible. There are many threats on the planet Earth to prevent it from providing what is demanded, in which people do not realize are a part of a day to day routine. Just as the Earth is evolving, human life and wildlife is expanding its population as well and consequently, all residents of the planet should be aware of saving the Earth from demolishing everyone and everything in it. Cutting down forests for the sake of human utilization may be beneficial, however it will decrease the benefits of Earth as a whole. The act of deforestation may be considered a gateway to the extinction of all living things on the Earth. Better choices need to be made that reflect the way the environment is responding and it all starts by understanding what the Earth already has and needs to continue to maintain. This style is very similar to the earlier styles found in Greek and Roman times. The middle circle is of him while the surrounding circles are of what is believed to be his disciples. Although the braceros were required to obtain a certain permit, many illegal braceros fell through the cracks and managed to enlist without protest from the U.S. government; essentially they could care less as long as they were able to get the controlled labor they desired. When looking at the illegal migration model as a well oiled machine that produces labor control, we have highlighted two key components; the markets that started the machine and the political policies that acted as the inner workings, directing the entire operation to the desired end result. The force that keeps this machine going are social networks between illegal migrants.
