Similarities Between Lolita In Tehran And Persepolis
In the stories Cairo : My city, Latia in Tehran, and Persepolis . They all talk about some laws that
must do with their freedom and how they must live their life. All the stories Are about someone
s personal experience with the difficult laws and how they are in forced. When dealing with laws
that yu may not like or think it s not fair can be hard to deal with but if you really want that law
to be changed then you would have to fight for it. In different countries there are different laws on
how you have to live your life. In The story Lolita in Tehranit states They patrol the streets to make

State University Of Missouri s Alcohol Policy
University of Missouri
University of Missouri s alcohol policy for their tailgate functions is comparable to Missouri State
University s. Mizzou s Rules and Regulations handbook states under the alcohol policy on page 8
that Students and their guests are not permitted to consume, manufacture, use, possess, sell, or
distribute alcohol in or on the premises of the University owned or operated residential or dining
locations, regardless of their age.
As well, stated under Mizzou s tailgating policy they state that tailgating is a longstanding tradition
before Mizzou football contests, built on the tradition of enjoying the fellowship of friends, the
Mizzou Spirit, and great Mizzou Football. The University of Missouri and Mizzou Athletics
encourage responsible tailgating in an effort to enhance the game day experience, ensure a safe
game day atmosphere to all fans, and preserve the beauty of campus.
Individuals, groups and organizations holding or participating in tailgate parties are responsible for
their own conduct, and are expected to respect the rights of other and the entire University
community.
Individuals are responsible for compliance with all local and state laws governing alcohol
consumption.
University Rules permit the use of alcoholic beverages at tailgate parties or picnic activities at
NCAA intercollegiate athletic events only on the day of the event and in the general proximity of
the event, including outdoor locations or in outdoor parking areas.

Abstract/Summary
In this experiment the SI and English standard measurement systems were used to learn how to
convert one unit of measurement to another through the use of measurement instrumentation. A
centimeter ruler was used to measure both inanimate objects such as a lab table, and a window as
well as body measurements on multiple people within the group. The measurements were used in
finding the perimeter, area and volume of each of the objects. This experiment taught how to
express scientific figures for data and results. As multiple measurements were taken precision and
accuracy became greater. This data was used to determine ratios and percent errors.

Holocc Mafia Crips Research Paper
The Seville Blocc Mafia Crips are a multi cultural Crip set located in Eastern Los Angeles. Born
from the struggle of poverty, neglect from the government, and general desire to resist the
reality that was life in the hood. Originally a group of friends growing up on the East side, the
S.B.M.C (Seville Blocc Mafia Crips) were meant to keep a strong bond in times of need. Around
the time of the 1980 s crack epidemic, violence in Seville rose steadily as well as general crime, and
the youth of Seville was no exception to these changes. Introduced through the public school
system, narcotic sales became a popular activity in the neighborhood with multiple dealers flooding
the street corners with ages as young as twelve and thirteen. Recognizing

Installing A Realistic Wireless Sensor Network Setting
Abstract Hierarchical routing is a promising approach for point to point routing with very small
routing state. While there are many theoretical analyses and high level simulations demonstrating
its benefits, there has been little work to evaluate it in a realistic wireless sensor network setting.
Based on numerous proposed hierarchical routing infrastructures, we surveyed some hierarchical
clustering algorithms and briefly discussed them. Main purpose of this paper is to present some
recent hierarchical protocols and point out silent features of them. These routing protocols very
much benefit in prolonging network lifetime and save energy of sensornodes.

Due to limited and non rechargeable energy provision, the energy resource of sensor networks
should be managed wisely to extend the lifetime of sensors. Sensor networks have recently
emerged as a platform for several important surveillance and control applications .Each sensor
has an onboard radio that can be used to send the collected data to interested parties. One of the
advantages of wireless sensors networks (WSNs) is their ability to operate unattended in harsh
environments in which contemporary human in the loop monitoring schemes are risky,
inefficient and sometimes infeasible. Therefore, sensors are expected to be deployed randomly
in the area of interest by a relatively uncontrolled means, e.g. dropped by a helicopter, and to
collectively form a network in an ad hoc manner. In order to achieve high energy efficiency and
increase the network scalability, sensor nodes can be organized into clusters. Data collected from
sensors are sent to the cluster head first, and then forwarded to the base station. Network lifetime
can be defined as the time elapsed until the first node (or the last node) in the network depletes its
energy (dies). A number of protocols have been proposed to reduce useful energy consumption.
These protocols can be classified into three classes. Protocols in the first class control the
transmission power level at each node to increase network capacity while

Comparison Of Forgiveness In Messala And Judah Ben Hur
Hope and Forgiveness
Judah Ben Hur, someone who is wrongly accused of treason by his (adopted) brother, who is
involved with the Roman army, returns to his home after years at sea to get his revenge, but
finds redemption instead. Ben Hur (1959+2016) Was directed by William Wyler (1959) and
Timur Bekmambetov (2016) and the cinematography was done by Oliver Wood (2016) and
Robert Surtees (1959). Ben Hur is about a conflict with authority, and two friends who reunite
when they become adults. Judah (Charlton Heston or Jack Huston) is Jewish and doesn t
believe in what Rome is doing and Messala (Stephen Boyd or Toby Kebbell) is a roman soldier.
Ben Hur is a movie which shows forgiveness, hope, and conflict all in one, i really enjoyed how
they tied the three together within the films. The mood of this movie and offices changed within
the 1959 film to the 2016 film. In the 1959 film, Messala and Judah go their separate ways when

The Birth Of Moses Moses
Moses
Question 1
Exodus 2:1 10 The birth of Moses
Moses was born to two Levites. His mother hid him for three months as the pharaoh was killing
all the Hebrew s children. When she couldn t hid him she made a basket, put him in it, and floated
it down the river. The pharaoh s daughter found the baby and took pity on it. She nurtured the baby
and took it as her own.
Exodus 3:1 4:17 God speaks to Moses through the burning bush
Moses was herding is Father in law s flock and took it past the wilderness. A bush was set alight
and was not being consumed. Moses went to look at this bush and God called out to him. Moses
took of his sandals and hid his face from God as he was scared of him. God tells Moses he must go
into Egypt and free the Israelite slaves. God proceeds to tell Moses to tell the Israelites he was sent
by The Lord, the God of your ancestors, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of
Jacob.
Moses question the Lord on how he would prove that he was indeed sent by the Lord. God told
Moses to throw his staff on the ground, the staff turned into a snake. He then told Moses to pick
up the snake by the tail, the snake turned back into a staff. God then gave Moses two more ways
to prove he really was sent by God. One of them was to put his hand into his cloak and take it out
again. Once he did this his hand turn leprous and when he put it back into and out of his cloak it
went back to normal. The other proof was to pour a bucket of Nile river water into

The Specter Of Lessons In The Holocaust
The Holocaust has an ambiguity in holding lessons, which appear endless. It reinforces the
justification of the idea that the past holds lessons for the present. It creates the idea that if the
lesson is not learned it is at our peril. However, there is no universal lesson gleaned from the
Holocaust, that is convincing enough to justify the current obsession of studying it. Rather, it is the
collective memory of oppression and the specter of comparison, that has made us chose to believe
that there is a universal lesson to be learned.
The specter of comparisons affects our understanding of the past and the present. The specter the
ghost of the past affects our view of the present, but also the present effects our view of the past.
The Holocaust like other historical events is affected by this specter of comparisons. In
attempting to find lessons in the Holocaust the past becomes haunted by the present. It is looking
at the present with incurable double vision , as we see both the past and the present; it is like
looking through the end of an inverted telescope. This need for lessons is aided by seeing the past
in the present. The search for lessons leaves the danger of getting caught in a loop of the past and
present surrounding the Holocaust. It leaves the possibility of constantly being haunted by the past
and letting past oppressions be our definitions of ourselves in the present.
Christopher Browning is haunted by the past. In a review of Hitler: Ascent

Sports In Sports Essay
Participating in sports from my youth years till graduating high school has had a contribution to
my outlook on the people surrounding me in daily life. Besides sport being fun and providing
exercise it has some not as obvious effects. Through sport you learn how to communicate and
work together as a team to strive for a set goal. Communication and team collaboration is an
important characteristic for anyone no matter their career field. For me, my sport experiences
have taught me that sometimes you have to find a way to work with people that you do not
necessarily like. It is unavoidable to always have only people you get along with on your team
whether it is a sports team or a team at a job. Sport teaches many new lessons to children which
initially are hard to understand but years later you look back and have that oh that is why moment.
I have participated in soccer, baseball, tennis and golf between youth and graduating from high

occasionally go to the nearby tennis courts to play a few games for our enjoyment, but I decided
that I wanted to try and improve my skills. I only participated in tennis for one year as I did not
enjoy it as much as I had hoped I would. From tennis I only remember negative memories of being
exhausted from running around the tennis courts as a warm up during practice. I learned from this
experience that although I enjoy the aspect of tennis, tennis is to

The Coddling Of The American Mind
In Lukianoff and Haidt s essay, The Coddling of the American Mind, the authors contend today s
college students want to be protected from any words that might harm them. The authors argue
doing so harms them in other ways.
After reading the article I concur with the author s views on colleges coddling students who are
offended by words or small actions is doing more harm than good. The article covered the issues
in detail and gave many examples of the conception before the 1980 s when children could roam
free in the world with less worry for parents to where next generation who had more protective
parents because of the increase of kidnappings, removal of physical activities in school, school
shootings, and bullying after the 1980 s.The authors discuss how coddling is not good for students,
society, the workplace, government or the future. Coddling removes cognitive thinking and the use
of good critical thinking skills. Coddling will force students to think with emotion instead of logic.
Society will not always bend over backwards to appease ones feelings or change to make someone
feel comfortable. Thinking with emotions can create a fog that can hinder ones view of reality.
The coddling issue is leading the current generation who protest books or specific words that may
be offensive to them and others. Some claim that the offensive words can cause emotional triggers
to a bad experience that can lead to a dangerous outcome. I see this as whining to a degree and

Social Media And Identity Analysis
Judaism takes the universal community concept all the way to help foster an identity and purpose
by emphasizing the need to stick with the community throughout life and public identify yourself
with them even if your belief wanes. The aspect of public identification is vital here because it
reinforces an incredibly deep social bond built out of both a shared, common belief but also
through superficial ethnicity in such a way that they rarely feel alone in situations because of the
ease of being able to identify someone through their clothing and name. This sense of loneliness
and not knowing anyone is another pillar aspect of the strength of social media s strength because
it allows these at risk people easily find the type of person that... Show more content on

Social media may appear to be irrelevant here at first, however social media is actually again at
the core of this issue because social media can often act as a safe haven for those who are socially
ostracized because it connects those who are in similar situations together. This is especially
problematic in terms of both the integrity of identity and purpose as well the person s own future
even if they never discovery their purpose because this new community would both further
confused their sense of identity and purpose but also integrate and validate ideas and values of
others which potentially resulted in their social exile. Christianity s focus on salvation and its
evangelism is absolutely vital to pulling people out and preventing them from ever being trapped
in this echo chamber because the two combined offer those who have been ostracized a way back
even though the rest of society has written them off as failures. This, if successful, brings those
who are most vulnerable or have already fallen victim to social media at varying levels towards
individual development of identity and purpose without the dangers of social media. This
development of identity and purpose is supported by the sense of community brought from the fact
that many of those around you had also suffered but had found salvation through the same means.
However, this may seem to be more of the original problem that contributed to the confusion of
identify and purpose however the Christian community is bound together by a shared forgiveness
of their past misdeeds so as to move on and continue to develop identity and purpose whereas these
types of social media communities are only bound together by a collective,

The On A Sleepy Mind And Sleepy Body
Introduction
There is a large difference between a sleepy mind and a sleepy body, but the combination is the
characteristics of a fatigued person. A fatigued person has behavior similar to that of drunkenness,
[under] the effects of a large dose of alcohol [1]. Many careers, which include high stress situations
and strict timelines, often deprive employees of a good rest due to their working environment. An
example of such would be the life of an Airline Pilot, where passenger safety, fast changing weather
and inconvenient schedules prevent the Pilot from receiving enough rest. In a British study done
in 2014, 86.1% of Pilots reported that they commenced a shift while fatigued and reported feeling
utterly drained, very slow to think and process information [2]. Such conditions can cause a lack of
judgments and more mistakes occur, which in turn leads to accidents. Airlines and government
agencies have developed techniques and laws which aid the flight crew to operate while being well
rested, resulting in reduced errors. [enter purpose systems]
Causes and Sympoms A leading cause in fatigue in pilots is the long hours and times of
commuting between flights. Especially at the entry level flying positions, as a result of the low
pay, pilots cannot afford to live near major airports and are required to drive for a long period of
time, which can further aggravate exhaustion. Along with that, many airlines require their pilots to
operate through bases which are different

The Definition Of Social Equity In Public Administration
Social equity was presented to public administration first by H. George Frederickson in the 1960s
after the Standing Panel on Social Equity in Governance was created by the National Academy of
Public Administration (NAPA) (Johnson, 2012). Social equity is the fourth pillar of public
administration by the NAPA (Norman Major, 2011). According to the panel their definition of
social equity is fair, just and equitable management of all institutions serving the public directly or
by contract (Johnson, 2012). In Wooldridge, Gooden (2009) they state that the idea of social equity
in public administration is inseparably linked to John Rawlss A Theory of Justice(1971). Rawls
developed the principle of justice as fairness. Fairness is justice would mean that people have
equal rights to basic liberty (Rawls, 1971). To be discussed will be comparison and differences
between many author overtime that has touch social equity regarding its definition, challenges
along with the overall conclusion. The fact that the use of these notions has evolved in different
ways over time (Herrera, 2007) is why this is being mentioned.
What is social equity
Every author interprets and define social equity a little differently. Social equity issues, refers to
the distribution of fairness. (Guy McCandless, 2012). Social equity is rooted in the idea that each
person is equal and has inalienable rights. With America s being a blend of social, religious,
economic, and political characteristics, the

College Dropout Research
An increment in college drop out rates with the inability to do well in courses has been on the
receiving end of many theories as well as research experiments. In Implicit Theories of Intelligence
Predict Achievement Across an Adolescent Transition Blackwell, Trzeniewski, Dweck (2007) state
that some people believe that intelligence is more of an entity while others think of it as
incremental .
In 1997 just over 54 percent of students who enrolled in 4 year colleges earned their degree six
years later, even fewer Hispanics in addition of blacks according to some of the latest government
figures. Bowen, President of the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation, has heightened his consideration
on this matter with his data driven studies on college athletes, college access and affirmative action

Landfills and their Effects on the Enviroment Essay
Landfills And Their Effects On Humans And The Enviroment
Every year Americans collectively create approximately 208 million tons of municipal solid
waste, which breaks down to 4.3 pounds of waste generated per American per day. In addition to
this normal waste, the United States produces roughly 279 million tons of hazardous waste per
year.1 All of this waste has to go somewhere. Two good methods of waste disposal, infrequently
used, are incineration and recycling. However, any waste that is not recycled or incinerated ends
up in America s landfills. Landfills that are not in proper working order can pose a serious threat to
humans and the environment, but ones that safely store all of their waste may possibly be helpful

The rock should be as nonporous as possible to stop waste from seeping into the groundwater, but
one must be able to predict where the waste will go if it escapes through the liner of the landfill.5
The next layer is the bottom liner of the landfill, which can be made of one or more layers of
natural or synthetic materials. The liner is the landfill s defense to keep the waste out of the
environment. This liner can be made of clay, plastic, or a composite of plastic and clay soil.
Natural liners, made of clays and shales, often crack and allow the waste to enter the environment.
In addition, some chemicals can soak into the clay, thus causing additional harm to the
environment.6 The Geomembranes, liners made of plastic, may seem like they are the best
available today, but many household chemicals can break down the plastic, and it can be easily
punctured.7 Thus, like natural liners, Geomembranes may also allow waste to enter the
environment. Combinations of the different kinds of liners can be more effective than the use of a
single material.8
The leachate collection system is what collects any water that has been contaminated by seeping
through the waste in a landfill. Leachate refers to the water that has been contaminated. If the
system happens to fail for any reason, the leachate can contaminate groundwater, the source of
many communities drinking water.9

Alcohol and tobacco advertisements are created to encounter a certain demographic. Billions of
dollars are spent on advertisements to make sure their product is being sold. An estimated $15
billion is spent each year on tobacco advertising, to drag people in by spreading a message that
people who smoke tobacco are rich and successful people fulfilled with a glamorous life (Walsh).
Both advertisements are aiming for younger crowds because they know that the younger they get
addicted to the product the more they will use it through out their lives. Advertisements play a
big role when it comes to reaching younger crowds and they do this by using relatable things like
celebrities, using younger actors in their commercials, showing how if you use the product you
can have a good time, etc. When a realtor, a car salesman, insurance company, or any one who is
trying to sell you something knows that if you can connect with someone emotionally they are
more likely to agree with you or move forward with the sell because when you connect with

God Is A Contractual Relationship Between God And God
A covenant is a contractual relationship between two parties, usually a king and his followers.
The covenant relationship between God and the people of Israel is strong. God makes
covenants with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. For these covenants to be strong there needs to be
loyalty and faithfulness on both sides. The Mishnah emphasizes this relationship in many of the
texts, this relationship is most emphasized in the sections of prayer and festivals. The section of
prayers is called zera im or seeds, it literally means the availability of agricultural products in
Israel. This connects to prayer because in order for the land to be rich of agricultural products
by God, the people of Israel need to pray and show gratitude to God. In the chapter the Life of the
Torah , there is a section about the daily life of the Jew and much of the day consists of prayer.
There are very specific times for prayer and recitation of the Shema and Tefillah. The Mishnah
requires Jews pray before and after meals. The sages have many rules for blessing over food,
there are different prayers for different types of food. They sages also require that the Jews say
grace after meals, this prayer requires more components than prayers before meals. They thank
him for the land, ask him to rebuild the temple, sustain his people, bless the host and hostess,
and send peace to all of Israel. In the first section in Grace After Meals: Thanking God the
Provider , the leader says For he is God who sustains all, doest good to all, and provides food for
all creatures he has created. Blessed art thou, O Lord, who dost sustain all (696). These prayers
are important to Jews because this shows that they are faithful to God and appreciate his work for
them. The covenant here is if they stay faithful and gratuitous to God then God will rebuild
Jerusalem, create peace for all of Israel and provide them with land and agriculture. Overall, the
Rabbi s do not disagree on this topic. They all believe as long as they recite the benedictions at the
right times and for the right things, then the covenant between God and the people of Israel will
remain strong. Also, the section in Mishnah about the different festivals and celebrations highlight

Persuasive Essay On Nuclear Energy
In today s America, fossil fuels continue to be the top producers of energy across the nation.
Renewable energies, however, are starting to become cheaper, more efficient, and more practical
as the need to fight climate change becomes a greater issue everyday. Renewable energies such as
solar, hydropower, and wind are making an expeditious growth in the United States. One of the
largest producers of renewable energyin the United States is Nuclear Power, which is the largest
producer out of the aforementioned renewable energies. It continues to be a safe, cheap, and viable
option for energyproduction, yet public opinion causes it to be less favorable to wind, solar, and
others due to perceived risks. On March 11th of 2011, an earthquake and tsunami in Japan caused
the Fukushima power plant to meltdown and release dangerous radiation into the environment and
completely destroy the plant. Before this incident, public support for nuclear under Barack Obama,
who was advocating increased production for nuclear power as it s a clean energy, was at 71%.1
The most recent nuclear meltdown was the Three Mile Island incident in 1979, located in
Harrisburg Pennsylvania, which was becoming a fading memory in the public s mind. 2 In the
aftermath of the Fukushima plant meltdown, the world became increasingly anxious about nuclear
energy. Nonetheless, even with the renewed fears of nuclear power, production of new plants

Stereotypes Of Latinos Essay
Latinos in U. S. A. and Hollywood s Discrimination
Hispanic or Latino, is a segment of the population in the States of the American Union that has
grown in quantity, economy and education, and everything indicates that it would continue in the
same way, as a result of the Hispanic people has inhabited here, even before this country conformed
as the United States. Latinos also have made important contributions to this country in all aspects
and levels and areas to society, of the sort of the arts, sports and politics. Cinema is considered
an art, the seventh art, as well it is a form of expression and reflection of society and its times. In
consequence, filming is a very important business, and Hollywood is the mecca of the industry.
Then, we could expect that the significance of their presence would be properly portrayed. But, to
the contrary to we might assume, we see in Hollywood s filmography that they have been assigned
few roles, which are also mostly stereotyped and unflattering. In this essay, we will review some ...

All these stereotypes of immigrants and Latinos definitely impact the opinions and attitudes that
non Latinos can have towards Latinos and immigrants. It is true that immigrants are not all
Latinos, many also come from Europe, Asia, etc. It is also true that not all Latinos are the best
persons, and some of them have fallen entangled into the judicial system. But not all Latins are
criminals, these represents a minority and it is not fair to generalize, as well in the system exist
White persons and from all other races. And many of these cases could be blamed to the lack of
opportunities. Then, these stereotypes do not reflect the reality or values of the Hispanic

Number Two Effect
Number one was one that had a lot of emotional impact that was taking place throughout the
duration of the song. It expressed a tone color that was orange and very intense. There was a lot of
conflict that was taking place between Ruth and Fredrick during this time. The melody showed
pitches that made up the different parts of the song. For example, both Ruth and Fredrick take turns
on who takes the melody of the song depending on who is dominant at certain points of the song.
Fredrick is more dominant and the beginning and then Ruth takes the attention later on. Harmony
took place as Ruth and Fredrick are singing different parts at the same time and the tones are
sounding simultaneously. With this, at the intense parts there are dissonances... Show more content

There was a tone color of purple because it was very shocking what was being said, but the
paradox part got very upbeat. This part of the story was very surprising and something that I was
no expecting. The melody that was used in number two was used by expressing different pitches.
This in relation into which one of the character was singing at the time. During the duration of
this song, the performers were the Pirate King, Frederick, and Ruth. In coalition to this, the
harmony are the sounds that were sounding simultaneously and throughout this song, the
performers would sing together. There were also times were Ruth was in more of the
background which was used to create a different melody. They also used rhythms that are known
throughout the song. For example, at one point it sounds like a circus theme song. This is used
to show how this scene is intended to be one where there is humor expressed. They are laughing
and enjoying the time because Frederick is finding out that because he was born on Leap Year he
is actually only five years old. The meter that was used in song number two was one that
fluctuated depending on what the song was saying. There was no set meter that it was focused on

at the same time and it shares importance with one another. The dynamics are used in this song

Intelligence or Long Life Today evolution of human intelligence has advanced us to the stage
where most of us are too smart to invent new gods but are reluctant to give up the old ones (Ruth
Hurmence Green). Flowers for Algernon is about a man named Charlie Gordon, he is 37, and
has a low IQ of 68. He will go through an operation that has never been done before. It is
supposed to generate Charlie to three times smarter. A while after he had undergone the
operation his mind starts to deteriorate. He was able to predict that his mind will deteriorate like
Algernon s due to a series of experiments he did. Charlie is better off doing this experiment.
Charlie is better of going through the experiment be because he can now see things clearly for
the first time, he has the chance to experience what it is like to be smart, and he knows how he
truly feels. Initially, Charlie was not aware of what was going on around him. He thought that
everyone liked him and was his friend. He also was not very intelligent, which is why he was
oblivious to what was happening around him. After Charlie had the surgery he was able to now

first time is when the doctors were arguing Charlie felt that he know saw them for the first time.
He realizes about their personal life, how one has a wife that wants him to be successful and the
other wants some of the glory to. Once again, due to his intelligence, he notices more about the
people he interacts with almost every day. He noticed things that he has never realized, let alone
thought about. Additionally, Charlie now has a chance to be smart. This operation allows Charlie s
IQ to triple. Since Mrs.Kinnian suggested Charlie he got a chance to experience true intelligence,
and love. After the operation, he was able to comprehend more than the doctors, who were before
smarter than him.

5.2 One way to examine plot is to determine what type of conflict it entails. The classic divisions
are: (1) person vs. person; (2) person vs. society, (3) person vs. nature, and (4) person vs. self.
Often, more than one of these types of conflict occurs in a story. Using this analysis, briefly
describe the conflicts in this story and classify it according to the categories set out above.
(1) Quentin vs. Margo It s when Quentin refuses Margo to join her to investigate why Robert
Joyner killed himself. Margo vs. Jase,Becca and Lacey It s the time when Margo wanted revenge

Homophobia, The LGBT And Sodomy Laws

Definition Of Drunk Driving
People often get confused with the different terms used to describe or classify drunk driving. The
fact is that there really is not much difference between them. Driving While Intoxicated (DWI) and
Driving Under the Influence (DUI) are the same but some states use one term while another state
uses the other term. Some states use the term OUI which stands for Operating under the influence.
All three terms refer to the same offense of drinking while driving.
DUI is the most widely used term for drunk driving. DWI is less common but is used in New York,
Texas, and Missouri. OUI is more commonly used in the North eastern States including
Massachusetts, Maine, and Rhode Island. There are also other terms used by some states such as
OWI (Operating While Intoxicated), OMVI (Operating a Motor Vehicle While Intoxicated), DUII
(Driving under the influence of an intoxicant), DWAI (Driving While Ability Impaired), and DWUI
(Driving While Under the Influence).
Drunk driving is a persistent problem on our roads today. In Kansas City especially, the
prevalence of drivers who act negligent and get behind the wheel while being intoxicated
continues to increase. Drunk driving incidents are especially observed during holidays such as
Independence Day, St. Patrick s Day and Cinco de Mayo. On St. Patrick s Day alone, police
officers got 41 drunks out of 1300 vehicles that were checked. In 2016, there were 999 DUIs and
this number did not include North KC, Jackson County, and other nearby areas.

When the radio first came out, people would turn to it to get their information from. People
started to put down their books and listen to radio programs. When the television came out half a
century ago, it became the primary socializer for America. It s commonly known that shortly after
its inception, 90% of American households had at least one television in their homes. This results
in the television being the tool of choice for spreading messages through mass media. In modern
society, television is such a norm that it s not even something we worry about like Bradbury did

Bradbury foresaw these things too since it is such a predictable concept. In Fahrenheit 451, we see

Ambiguity In A Clean Well Lighted Place
A Solace for the Lonely On stressful evenings people often find themselves walking in circles
hunting for an escape; as seen in Ernest Hemingway s, A Clean, Well Lighted Place , which
exemplifies the life of an old man and two waiters. The old man is doing exactly what most
people do when they have reached rock bottom. He is hunting for peace in his life and has
decided to find such solace drinking in a local cafГ©. The little cafГ© in the short storysymbolizes
a safe zone for people who feel unwanted, alone, and in despair. Hemingway uses the younger
waiter as a foil for the older waiter to emphasize the opposing personalities and beliefs of the
waiters. The ambiguity in the dialog between the two waiters evolved into a scandal relating to
reproductions of the short story. The cafГ© is the only solace for the older waiter and all those
who need a light for the night (Page 145). They yearn for a place to feel wanted and not be alone.
The younger waiter does not understand the need for a clean and pleasant cafГ©, so he tells the
old man, Hombre, there are bodegas open all night long (145). As the older waiter would agree,
bars have a different ambiance than cafГ©s. CafГ©s are nice, quiet, and quaint establishments
where one can relax and forget their troubles. The older waiter states, It is necessary that the place
be clean and pleasant. You do not want music. Certainly you do not want music (146). Bars usually

with cultural diversity in the workplace, schools and need to learn to not offend another person

In today s society, people are closed minded, and do not take the opportunity getting to know the

toward other cultures, norms, beliefs and values we should all respect each other differences. We
should consider learning from one another and not judge a person based on their race, ethnicity,

though we all have different values and beliefs.
Cultural studies are influenced by the Marxist interpretation of society, but according to, Stuart Hall

Hitler And Antisemitism
The experience of the war, economic crisis and the discontent caused by the conditions of the
Treaty of Versailles created a favourable condition for a rise of utopian revolutionary movements
such as Fascism in Italy and National Socialism in Germany. By placing the regeneration of the
nation as one of their main objectives, they provided a dream of recreating a sense of community
among the members of their nations whilst providing a sense of security through national myths
and symbols, which left little or no room for those who were different. According to Mosse, war
had transformed politics into a drama built upon shared emotions , and racism, thus, all too easily
provided unity to this drama . Yet, the leaders of those movements, Hitler,... Show more content on

the main concepts of race and its relation to politics. Whereas the political domain in Germany was
formed on the basis of racial thinking immediately after Hitler came to power, for Mussolini the
racial laws were introduced later as a tool to give fascism a new dynamic. Racism represented the
most radical initiative of the fascist project of remaking Italians as a way of regenerating the
Italian nation. Although the racial law of fascist regime was based on Nuremberg laws, the racial
thinking has been fused from the imperial policy on conquest of Ethiopia. In Italy, the racial law
allowed to model new national identity by clearing it from foreign elements which were regarded
as degenerative and having negative influence on the nation. Similarly, for Nazi Germany the desire
to bring the nation to a common awareness of its ethnic and political unity required a common

The article that I found that correlates to my group project, assesses and measures the VO2 by
looking at 7 indirect tests for aerobic power. This article also used the Bruce treadmill test (Bruce
protocol) which was the same protocol we used in our project. The metabolic cart that this study
used was the Beckman Metabolic Measurement Cart. However, they used Astrand Ryhming

2.If you had the ability to change your group project, how would you alter it and why? (1 paragraph)
I would alter the project by using the formula of VO2max=15x(HRmax/HRrest), and have each
participant perform a VO2Max test, by using the metabolic cart. I would then compare the results
from the metabolic cart and the VO2 equation, and them compare the results for comparison. I
would make this change, because our group had to alter the formula of VO2max=15x(HRmax
/HRrest), in order to perform a submaximal test. What we did was calculated the max heart rate,
and multiplied that value by 85% of VO2 which would be considered a submaximal test.
I would have liked to have seen the comparison to the equation and the metabolic cart, to see if
there was an increase or decrease in the values of each of the measurements of maximal oxygen
consumption. This would be interesting to analyze, because the population will not always have a
metabolic cart around to measure VO2. If the equation showed similar values to the metabolic cart,
the equation would be a good tool to use for estimation if the metabolic cart was not available.
3.For your project, were the test procedures provided in the Metabolic Cart/VO2 Testing lecture
followed? Which steps were followed and which were not? If steps were not followed, why? (2
paragraphs)
Listed below are the steps that were used as test procedures

Crushing Poem Analysis
the poem Crushing is a narrative with a central theme of the youthful years of under privileged
juveniles with vivid images of theft, racing, intoxication, and calming ending of a beach vision.
The poem is a wholesome picture that goes from being wild in the beginning to a calming image
of a beach and stars at the end, which is also a technique of the poem that is taking readers on a
journey. It spectacularly builds up images of fancy and elegant partying, to a calming end of
evening beach scene. This could be represented by the core question of the poem that, the
youthfulnessof someone is intoxicating when someone gets lost in translation and becomes dazed
and confused.
The poet is reminiscing about his glory days of being very intoxicated and rambunctious in the
youth, that are going by too fast. On to the context, lines 1 5 demonstrate the rebelling youth of
all young people. In the lines, they steal cars, cigarettes, and crates of fine french wine. They are
rebellious, taking in all of society s adult vices of smoking, drinking, and wooing women. They
mention borrowing the Mercedes, which really means that they stole or took it without permission.
The bulletproof Mercedes makes them feel as if they are untouchable like a government official.
The youthful people in the poem have a sense that they are invincible, even from the police, which
they describe them as standing beside their cars and wave (Line 10). They think they are being
treated like royalty in a

Optimal Performance Of Java Encryption
Optimal Performance of Java Encryption
Abstract:
The usage and developments of computer and Internet technology in our life, is inseparable from
the Internet. The Growth of emerging internet and web based applications will be significant in
future. With these developments, users are enjoying quicker and more convenient services offered
by the Internet based web applications. However, we face potential security threat to sensitive
information. The data transferred over the internet or network between web applications or legacy
systems can be exposed. It is very essential to have more sophisticated protection mechanisms for
web application data transferred over the network. In addition to this, the data stored by web
application in persistent storage needs to be encrypted so as to avoid any data exposure or chance
of hacking. Data encryption is an efficient method of guaranteeing information security. There are
many encryption methodologies available to encrypt the data. As Java language used for majority
of WEB application development with its good features of portability and object oriented
programming, this paper describes about the Java Cryptography Extension (JCE) API and its
performance over 128 bit and 256 bit encryption techniques.
1.Introduction:
The Java Cryptography Extension (JCE) provides a standard framework and implementations for
data encryption, the key generation, key agreement and the message authentication Code
algorithms. The encryption techniques

Nephropore Areas Of Sexually Mature Lobster Case Study
This article was referenced in 5.1 Hay et al, and its focus is around studying nephropore areas of
sexually mature lobsters. The goal behind this study is to better identify the presence of these
structures which are known to produce chemical signals in conjunction with the release of their
urine. In the lobsterHomarusAmericanus, urine signals are used as a form of chemical
communication, males use urine in the determination of dominance over other males as well as to
allow females choice of dominant males. On the other hand Homarus Americanus females urine
actually reduces the incidence of male aggression and increases male mating behavior. This article
is more focused on the masses of rosette glands identified from all animals... Show more content on

Any figures beyond the set up of these dissections are just to help illustrate what the Rosette
glands actually looked like, or a better understanding of the anatomy behind a cross sectioned
nephropore (fig 2a b). The results from these cross section figures showed that rosette glands could
be identified in the nephropre areas of every examined lobster. Subtle differences were found within
these rosettes, one example being the cells within the rosettes either being rounded with many
secretory granules, or thinner cells with smaller granules with spaces between the cells. Other
rosettes were more organized into clusters of different sizes, and found within the connective tissue.
These clusters were categorized into two separate gland complexes, on medial to the ureter and the
other later (fig 3a b). Other experiments focused on within this article looked at the size and
orientation of these gland complexes in an effort to better understand subtle differences from the
normal nephropores, one example being some lobsters having anterior clusters which release the
product a different way. Although this was far from the norm of the lobsters studied, they found
that the glands appeared to be released through the exterior of the animal, not via the urinary bladder
like every other nephropore complex. One other hypothesis tested was that nephropore rosette
glands produce a bacteriostatic

User-Friendly Excel Spreadsheet Creation
Introduction In order for end users to carry out calculations and produce reports in a user friendly
method, an excel spreadsheet has been created. This report explains how this spreadsheet is
created, how the spreadsheet works and also the benefits of this spreadsheet. 1 Business Issues As
instructed by AID an information system is needed to assist staff to carry out calculations and
produce reports. However, there were some issues to be considered during planning. Issues to be
considered include cost to build the school, advertising cost, government support and loans. 1.1
Cost Cost is a factor as different schools built in different countries incur different cost; this also
includes the cost for the teachers and also the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
After obtaining the total cost of each construction for the respective schools to be built, the system
also allows the user to obtain the amount of government support that AID can get and also provide
the shortfall of fund that is needed that could be obtain as a loan from the bank. In order to ensure
data are input correctly, the project supervisor will be in charge of keying the data into the system
and the information will be verified by the project manager. Once data has been entered and
verified, the management of the developer would then be able to view all the relevant cost for the
campaign, the amount of government support obtainable and also the loan period or monthly
repayment amount. 3 AID Spreadsheet Report 3 Benefits of Implementing the System With this
system, AID will be able to compute and obtain the total cost to be incurred for every planned
project; this will help AID with their financial planning and provide clear and detailed cost
information for more efficient budgeting of cost. In addition, this system will reduce the time spent
by project team on calculating the cost of the project manually and at the same time ensure data
accuracy as the computations are perform automatically by the system thus reducing human
computation error. With the system implemented, only the project supervisor is required to input
the data into the system, as

Hippotherapy Personal Statement
It has invariably been my dream to work with children with disabilities and to achieve a career as
an Occupational Therapist. I want to work with children who have disabilities to help assist in
making a difference in their lives. From a young age, I have known what I wanted to be when I
grew up. We were close with a family when I was growing up that had a daughter who had Rett
Syndrome. I grew up watching how different therapies, particularly hippotherapy, improved her
quality of life. I have spent summers volunteering at the Equestrian Zone, which is a place that
offers hippotherapy to people who have disabilities. I ve spent my breaks from college shadowing
therapists to be certain this is what I want to spend my life doing. I have observed

Twin-Personal Narrative
I am a statistic. I am the 1 in 285 Americans that has an identical twin. Although these are merely
numbers, they mean a lot more than that to me. It means I have a twin sister, Chloe, who has the
same DNA as I do and looks exactly like me (or so I m told). Our unique situation has led to a
unique relationship. From head to toe, Chloe and I look extremely similar. Her hair is long and
blonde like mine, and our eyes are the same size and hazel in color. Our shoulders are similar.
Our arms are long in comparison to our bodies. We have the same shirt size and our waists are the
exact same measurement. We both have long legs, scattered with volleyball bruises. Our feet are
exactly the same size. Although I know these likenesses to be true, all... Show more content on

If I m wearing something that doesn t earn her approval, I immediately have to change.
Whenever I say something that she thinks is obvious or stupid when we re with a group of our
friends, she often corrects me not long after. I don t even try to embellish my stories anymore,
because Chloe is quick to correct me with a that never happened. Although she likes to point out
what I m doing wrong, she ll always defend me when necessary. When someone insults me, she
takes it personally, and vise versa. Once, in fifth grade, a girl on my bus reached over the green,
scratchy seat and hit me lightly on the head. It was a confusing experience, and now I realize it
was probably for a dare, but Chloe was furious. She glared at her and insulted her vehemently
until she apologized, her face red. No one else could possibly know all the things that Chloe
knows about me. No one else knows I was deathly afraid of the dark in 4th grade and still don t
like dark rooms to this day. No one else knows that she sucked her thumb until she was eight.
Because we know so much about one another, we can be completely real around each other. We
tell each other exactly how we feel all the time. We relate to other and always have something to
discuss because we have the same friends and interests. We are there for each other in every

Implementing The Universal Protocol Procedure
In 2003, as an outcome of all the sentinel events reported to the Joint commission lead to the
creation of the The Universal protocol for preventing wrong site, wrong procedures, and wrong
person surgery (Mulloy Hughes 2008). So, one of the ways that could have potentially prevented
the situation from happening at the first place was implementing the universal protocol
procedure. According to the protocol the conduction of proper pre as well as post operating
procedures are extremely mandatory. Therefore, by enforcing a standardized routine pre operating
procedure such as verifying the patient as well as the correct site for the procedure, by having the
medical staff or preferably the physician marking the operating site with his or her initials before
the surgery will be an effective preventive measure (Mulloy Hughes 2008). Also, by properly
conducting a time out session where the patient is provided with a standardized briefing prior to the
patient is sedated in the OR could also eliminate some the sentinel or adverse events in the OR.
Furthermore, follow a checklist, which not only pertains to the surgery itself, but also focuses on
the other procedures involved such as admissions, anesthesia equipment, and discharge (Mulloy
Hughes 2008). Using Technology to Improve Patient Safety Another effective measure that could
have potentially helped to avoid the situation at the first place was implementation of technology
for instance having a Electronic Medical

The Problem Of Crime And Crime
The way that people analyze crime has evolved throughout history and has many different forms.
Today, I am going to briefly explain some of the different theories that are used to study the subject
of crime and criminality. What I will be evaluating these theories against will be small scale
property crimesuch as theft. Anomie theory states that with the idea of the American dream and
economic success that the stress created by not meeting the American Dream standard creates strain
(Merton, 2013). Additionally, if social institutions are weak such as the family, then the economic
institution becomes dominant and creates an imbalance, which in turn leads to higher crime rates
(Merton, 2013). According to Messner (1982) crime has been theoretically linked to poverty in both
its subsistence and the relative deprivation that is conceptualized. This just adds support to how not
being able to achieve the American Dream can cause turmoil in the family life and can lead to more
criminality. When used to explain small scale property crime Anomie theory could explains it
strongly. If someone cannot meet the American Dream standard then they may begin to pursue
other means to meeting that goal. This could definitely lead to many different crimes with property
crime being one of them. You can t afford to go out and buy the American Dream. So maybe
stealing the American dream is the next best thing. Strain theory states that when a person can t
obtain success, then that person

The Basics Of Surviving The Wilderness
The basics of surviving the wilderness We live in an age that has spoiled us rotten. Everything
we need has become a given and we are no longer out scavenging for our necessities. We have
mastered the art of consumerism. Our society is built and programmed to consume, stores have
spread faster then a contagious disease. Over time we have come to relinquish very important
knowledge that has been passed down since the beginning of time and that is surviving in the
wild. There are three basic things we all need to learn how to do in order to survive the wild and
that is building shelter, filtering water and finding food. Many people are comfortable with
tossing this precious information to the trash. They are very mistaken to believe its unnecessary
information. There are many reasons to why everyone should learn how to survive in the wild.
You never know where life might take you and it is always wise to be prepared. All though our
society may seem stable today, there is still no guarantee that it will always remain the same.
This information may come in handy if you ever find yourself lost or stranded. I believe that
there is a lot to learn about surviving in the wild but knowing the basics can really save lives.
First things first what do you do if you find yourself alone in the middle of nowhere, with only
miles and miles of nature around you. Finding shelter is always top priority very important to
making sure you live another day. By finding shelter it helps

pharmacological effects such as anti oxidative, anti inflammatory, anti carcinogenic, and
antimicrobial, etc. In this work we have analysed the interactions of rutin with normal human
hemoglobin (HbA) using UV Visible spectroscopy, steady state fluorescencespectroscopy, time
resolved fluorescence spectroscopy, synchronous fluorescence spectroscopy and molecular
modeling studies. Specific interactions of the flavonoid, Rutin, with human hemoglobin has been
confirmed from flavonoid induced static quenching which is evident from steady state fluorescence
as well as lifetime data. Molecular docking study reveals that apart from hydrogen bonding and...

What Is Sub State Terrorism
The Unabomber. The 2005 London Tube bombings. September 11th. These are just three of various
tragic terrorist events that have occurred in the world. The word terrorism tends invokes feelings of
fear, sadness, and regurgitates traumatizing memories for people affected. Terrorism as a concept
has a very specific connotation, but, terrorismitself is more nuanced than individuals realize.
Terrorism extends past the individual frame of reference and encompass a myriad of groups and
organizations with differing ideologies, objectives, and methodologies. While the groups are
inherently different, the constant that connects them all as acts of terrorism lies in the definition of
the term itself.
The concept of terrorism has been defined numerous times. One of the most publicized definitions
by renowned professor in Security and State Sovereignty, Igor Primoratz, is ...the deliberate use of
violence, or the threat of its use, against innocent people, with the aim of intimidating them, or other

s Online Dictionary defines the word team as, a group of people who compete in a sport, game,

accurate, in my opinion, they are not complete. A team is so much more than a collection of

A team isn t just a group of people united in a common goal as Vince Lombardi stated. Just like a
family, a team learns and grows together. Winning or losing isn t as important as growing and
improving. My father always says that in tennis you can learn more from your losses than your
victories. This is true for life too. When your in a family, you learn so much from each other s
failures. You learn what to do and what not to do. You also learn how to be there for each other
when times get tough. This unites you as a family and brings you closer together. The same
thing happens on a team. When I was younger, I swam for the Marlins Swim team. We practiced
twice a day in the summer, and it was exhausting. Our coaches pushed us hard to get us ready for
the Conference Meet against our biggest rivals, the Normal Parks and Rec Sharks and the team
from Rob Knight. We all wanted to win so badly that we were willing to give up most of our
summer break to do laps in the pool at 6:00am. One of the boys on our team had special needs,
but he practiced hard just like anybody else. When it came time for the Conference Meet, our
head coach called a meeting and told us that he was putting this boy in several of the relays
because the boy going to have surgery at the end of summer and wouldn t be able to swim again
for a long time. I think our coach expected us to to argue or be

The Importance Of Renewable Energy
Renewable energy, what is it ? To put it simply, it s a type of energy source that is eco friendly
and for the most part efficient. Fossil fuels such as gasoline, oil, methane gas, and other harmful
energy sources will only aggravate earth s health and will inevitably affect our biosphere and
atmosphere, in which we humans reside. There is nothing inherently wrong with this issue but
can seriously be spoken more and enforced upon society, for the sake of humanity. It will take
centuries before we can consider colonizing other planets and have humans living on them. We are
unfortunately not there yet technologically speaking. All we can do is prolong earth s life before
that happens, which will take some time. According to scientists, earth is approximately 4.3 billion
years old, which is a long time, but as time progressed we humans kept finding ways to harm the
earth at an exponential rate. In some cases we have also caused the extinction of many species that
once inhabited earth. Some countries and certain states have started to take note of these trends and
started to implement public policy and also have come up with new ways to combat this.
Renewable energyis one of the best options at the moment and will hopefully make our earth a
better place, literally. Many people go about their day always concerned about the political
spectrum, which is fine, but the issues that accompany earth such as climate change are always
swept under the rug and never heard of again.

  • 4. Trigonometry Abstract/Summary In this experiment the SI and English standard measurement systems were used to learn how to convert one unit of measurement to another through the use of measurement instrumentation. A centimeter ruler was used to measure both inanimate objects such as a lab table, and a window as well as body measurements on multiple people within the group. The measurements were used in finding the perimeter, area and volume of each of the objects. This experiment taught how to express scientific figures for data and results. As multiple measurements were taken precision and accuracy became greater. This data was used to determine ratios and percent errors. Introduction and Background In a scientific method one of the ways in which ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... • 6. Installing A Realistic Wireless Sensor Network Setting Abstract Hierarchical routing is a promising approach for point to point routing with very small routing state. While there are many theoretical analyses and high level simulations demonstrating its benefits, there has been little work to evaluate it in a realistic wireless sensor network setting. Based on numerous proposed hierarchical routing infrastructures, we surveyed some hierarchical clustering algorithms and briefly discussed them. Main purpose of this paper is to present some recent hierarchical protocols and point out silent features of them. These routing protocols very much benefit in prolonging network lifetime and save energy of sensornodes. Keywords: hierarchical protocols, clustering, wireless sensor networks, residual ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Due to limited and non rechargeable energy provision, the energy resource of sensor networks should be managed wisely to extend the lifetime of sensors. Sensor networks have recently emerged as a platform for several important surveillance and control applications .Each sensor has an onboard radio that can be used to send the collected data to interested parties. One of the advantages of wireless sensors networks (WSNs) is their ability to operate unattended in harsh environments in which contemporary human in the loop monitoring schemes are risky, inefficient and sometimes infeasible. Therefore, sensors are expected to be deployed randomly in the area of interest by a relatively uncontrolled means, e.g. dropped by a helicopter, and to collectively form a network in an ad hoc manner. In order to achieve high energy efficiency and increase the network scalability, sensor nodes can be organized into clusters. Data collected from sensors are sent to the cluster head first, and then forwarded to the base station. Network lifetime can be defined as the time elapsed until the first node (or the last node) in the network depletes its energy (dies). A number of protocols have been proposed to reduce useful energy consumption. These protocols can be classified into three classes. Protocols in the first class control the transmission power level at each node to increase network capacity while ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 7. Comparison Of Forgiveness In Messala And Judah Ben Hur Hope and Forgiveness Judah Ben Hur, someone who is wrongly accused of treason by his (adopted) brother, who is involved with the Roman army, returns to his home after years at sea to get his revenge, but finds redemption instead. Ben Hur (1959+2016) Was directed by William Wyler (1959) and Timur Bekmambetov (2016) and the cinematography was done by Oliver Wood (2016) and Robert Surtees (1959). Ben Hur is about a conflict with authority, and two friends who reunite when they become adults. Judah (Charlton Heston or Jack Huston) is Jewish and doesn t believe in what Rome is doing and Messala (Stephen Boyd or Toby Kebbell) is a roman soldier. Ben Hur is a movie which shows forgiveness, hope, and conflict all in one, i really enjoyed how they tied the three together within the films. His mother hid him for three months as the pharaoh was killing all the Hebrew s children. When she couldn t hid him she made a basket, put him in it, and floated it down the river. The pharaoh s daughter found the baby and took pity on it. She nurtured the baby and took it as her own. Exodus 3:1 4:17 God speaks to Moses through the burning bush Moses was herding is Father in law s flock and took it past the wilderness. A bush was set alight and was not being consumed. Moses went to look at this bush and God called out to him. Moses took of his sandals and hid his face from God as he was scared of him. God tells Moses he must go into Egypt and free the Israelite slaves. God proceeds to tell Moses to tell the Israelites he was sent by The Lord, the God of your ancestors, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob. Moses question the Lord on how he would prove that he was indeed sent by the Lord. God told Moses to throw his staff on the ground, the staff turned into a snake. He then told Moses to pick up the snake by the tail, the snake turned back into a staff. God then gave Moses two more ways to prove he really was sent by God. One of them was to put his hand into his cloak and take it out again. Once he did this his hand turn leprous and when he put it back into and out of his cloak it went back to normal. The other proof was to pour a bucket of Nile river water into ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 9. The Specter Of Lessons In The Holocaust The Holocaust has an ambiguity in holding lessons, which appear endless. It reinforces the justification of the idea that the past holds lessons for the present. It creates the idea that if the lesson is not learned it is at our peril. However, there is no universal lesson gleaned from the Holocaust, that is convincing enough to justify the current obsession of studying it. Rather, it is the collective memory of oppression and the specter of comparison, that has made us chose to believe that there is a universal lesson to be learned. The specter of comparisons affects our understanding of the past and the present. The specter the ghost of the past affects our view of the present, but also the present effects our view of the past. The Holocaust like other historical events is affected by this specter of comparisons. In attempting to find lessons in the Holocaust the past becomes haunted by the present. It is looking at the present with incurable double vision , as we see both the past and the present; it is like looking through the end of an inverted telescope. This need for lessons is aided by seeing the past in the present. The search for lessons leaves the danger of getting caught in a loop of the past and present surrounding the Holocaust. It leaves the possibility of constantly being haunted by the past and letting past oppressions be our definitions of ourselves in the present. Christopher Browning is haunted by the past. Besides sport being fun and providing exercise it has some not as obvious effects. Through sport you learn how to communicate and work together as a team to strive for a set goal. Communication and team collaboration is an important characteristic for anyone no matter their career field. For me, my sport experiences have taught me that sometimes you have to find a way to work with people that you do not necessarily like. It is unavoidable to always have only people you get along with on your team whether it is a sports team or a team at a job. Sport teaches many new lessons to children which initially are hard to understand but years later you look back and have that oh that is why moment. I have participated in soccer, baseball, tennis and golf between youth and graduating from high school. I had group tennis lessons during grade school. Previously me and my family would occasionally go to the nearby tennis courts to play a few games for our enjoyment, but I decided that I wanted to try and improve my skills. I only participated in tennis for one year as I did not enjoy it as much as I had hoped I would. • 11. The Coddling Of The American Mind In Lukianoff and Haidt s essay, The Coddling of the American Mind, the authors contend today s college students want to be protected from any words that might harm them. The authors argue doing so harms them in other ways. After reading the article I concur with the author s views on colleges coddling students who are offended by words or small actions is doing more harm than good. The article covered the issues in detail and gave many examples of the conception before the 1980 s when children could roam free in the world with less worry for parents to where next generation who had more protective parents because of the increase of kidnappings, removal of physical activities in school, school shootings, and bullying after the 1980 s.The authors discuss how coddling is not good for students, society, the workplace, government or the future. Coddling removes cognitive thinking and the use of good critical thinking skills. Coddling will force students to think with emotion instead of logic. Society will not always bend over backwards to appease ones feelings or change to make someone feel comfortable. Thinking with emotions can create a fog that can hinder ones view of reality. The coddling issue is leading the current generation who protest books or specific words that may be offensive to them and others. Some claim that the offensive words can cause emotional triggers to a bad experience that can lead to a dangerous outcome. I see this as whining to a degree and should ... Social Media And Identity Analysis Judaism takes the universal community concept all the way to help foster an identity and purpose by emphasizing the need to stick with the community throughout life and public identify yourself with them even if your belief wanes. The aspect of public identification is vital here because it reinforces an incredibly deep social bond built out of both a shared, common belief but also through superficial ethnicity in such a way that they rarely feel alone in situations because of the ease of being able to identify someone through their clothing and name. This sense of loneliness and not knowing anyone is another pillar aspect of the strength of social media s strength because it allows these at risk people easily find the type of person that... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Social media may appear to be irrelevant here at first, however social media is actually again at the core of this issue because social media can often act as a safe haven for those who are socially ostracized because it connects those who are in similar situations together. This is especially problematic in terms of both the integrity of identity and purpose as well the person s own future even if they never discovery their purpose because this new community would both further confused their sense of identity and purpose but also integrate and validate ideas and values of others which potentially resulted in their social exile. Christianity s focus on salvation and its evangelism is absolutely vital to pulling people out and preventing them from ever being trapped in this echo chamber because the two combined offer those who have been ostracized a way back even though the rest of society has written them off as failures. This, if successful, brings those who are most vulnerable or have already fallen victim to social media at varying levels towards individual development of identity and purpose without the dangers of social media. This development of identity and purpose is supported by the sense of community brought from the fact that many of those around you had also suffered but had found salvation through the same means. However, this may seem to be more of the original problem that contributed to the confusion of identify and purpose however the Christian community is bound together by a shared forgiveness of their past misdeeds so as to move on and continue to develop identity and purpose whereas these types of social media communities are only bound together by a collective, ... • 15. The On A Sleepy Mind And Sleepy Body Introduction There is a large difference between a sleepy mind and a sleepy body, but the combination is the characteristics of a fatigued person. A fatigued person has behavior similar to that of drunkenness, [under] the effects of a large dose of alcohol [1]. Many careers, which include high stress situations and strict timelines, often deprive employees of a good rest due to their working environment. An example of such would be the life of an Airline Pilot, where passenger safety, fast changing weather and inconvenient schedules prevent the Pilot from receiving enough rest. In a British study done in 2014, 86.1% of Pilots reported that they commenced a shift while fatigued and reported feeling utterly drained, very slow to think and process information [2]. Such conditions can cause a lack of judgments and more mistakes occur, which in turn leads to accidents. Airlines and government agencies have developed techniques and laws which aid the flight crew to operate while being well rested, resulting in reduced errors. [enter purpose systems] Causes and Sympoms A leading cause in fatigue in pilots is the long hours and times of commuting between flights. Especially at the entry level flying positions, as a result of the low pay, pilots cannot afford to live near major airports and are required to drive for a long period of time, which can further aggravate exhaustion. Along with that, many airlines require their pilots to operate through bases which are different ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 16. The Definition Of Social Equity In Public Administration Social equity was presented to public administration first by H. George Frederickson in the 1960s after the Standing Panel on Social Equity in Governance was created by the National Academy of Public Administration (NAPA) (Johnson, 2012). Social equity is the fourth pillar of public administration by the NAPA (Norman Major, 2011). According to the panel their definition of social equity is fair, just and equitable management of all institutions serving the public directly or by contract (Johnson, 2012). In Wooldridge, Gooden (2009) they state that the idea of social equity in public administration is inseparably linked to John Rawlss A Theory of Justice(1971). Rawls developed the principle of justice as fairness. Fairness is justice would mean that people have equal rights to basic liberty (Rawls, 1971). To be discussed will be comparison and differences between many author overtime that has touch social equity regarding its definition, challenges along with the overall conclusion. The fact that the use of these notions has evolved in different ways over time (Herrera, 2007) is why this is being mentioned. What is social equity Every author interprets and define social equity a little differently. Social equity issues, refers to the distribution of fairness. (Guy McCandless, 2012). Social equity is rooted in the idea that each person is equal and has inalienable rights. With America s being a blend of social, religious, economic, and political characteristics, the ... In 1997 just over 54 percent of students who enrolled in 4 year colleges earned their degree six years later, even fewer Hispanics in addition of blacks according to some of the latest government figures. Bowen, President of the Andrew W. Landfills and their Effects on the Enviroment Essay Landfills And Their Effects On Humans And The Enviroment Every year Americans collectively create approximately 208 million tons of municipal solid waste, which breaks down to 4.3 pounds of waste generated per American per day. In addition to this normal waste, the United States produces roughly 279 million tons of hazardous waste per year.1 All of this waste has to go somewhere. Two good methods of waste disposal, infrequently used, are incineration and recycling. However, any waste that is not recycled or incinerated ends up in America s landfills. Landfills that are not in proper working order can pose a serious threat to humans and the environment, but ones that safely store all of their waste may possibly be helpful for the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The rock should be as nonporous as possible to stop waste from seeping into the groundwater, but one must be able to predict where the waste will go if it escapes through the liner of the landfill.5 The next layer is the bottom liner of the landfill, which can be made of one or more layers of natural or synthetic materials. The liner is the landfill s defense to keep the waste out of the environment. This liner can be made of clay, plastic, or a composite of plastic and clay soil. Natural liners, made of clays and shales, often crack and allow the waste to enter the environment. In addition, some chemicals can soak into the clay, thus causing additional harm to the environment.6 The Geomembranes, liners made of plastic, may seem like they are the best available today, but many household chemicals can break down the plastic, and it can be easily punctured.7 Thus, like natural liners, Geomembranes may also allow waste to enter the environment. Combinations of the different kinds of liners can be more effective than the use of a single material.8 The leachate collection system is what collects any water that has been contaminated by seeping through the waste in a landfill. Leachate refers to the water that has been contaminated. Alcohol and tobacco advertisements are created to encounter a certain demographic. Billions of dollars are spent on advertisements to make sure their product is being sold. An estimated $15 billion is spent each year on tobacco advertising, to drag people in by spreading a message that people who smoke tobacco are rich and successful people fulfilled with a glamorous life (Walsh). Both advertisements are aiming for younger crowds because they know that the younger they get addicted to the product the more they will use it through out their lives. Advertisements play a big role when it comes to reaching younger crowds and they do this by using relatable things like celebrities, using younger actors in their commercials, showing how if you use the product you can have a good time, etc. When a realtor, a car salesman, insurance company, or any one who is trying to sell you something knows that if you can connect with someone emotionally they are more likely to agree with you or move forward with the sell because when you connect with someone on an emotional stand point what that person hears connects them with that memory or feeling that follows it, and it makes it rememberable. • 20. God Is A Contractual Relationship Between God And God A covenant is a contractual relationship between two parties, usually a king and his followers. The covenant relationship between God and the people of Israel is strong. God makes covenants with Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. For these covenants to be strong there needs to be loyalty and faithfulness on both sides. The Mishnah emphasizes this relationship in many of the texts, this relationship is most emphasized in the sections of prayer and festivals. The section of prayers is called zera im or seeds, it literally means the availability of agricultural products in Israel. This connects to prayer because in order for the land to be rich of agricultural products by God, the people of Israel need to pray and show gratitude to God. In the chapter the Life of the Torah , there is a section about the daily life of the Jew and much of the day consists of prayer. There are very specific times for prayer and recitation of the Shema and Tefillah. The Mishnah requires Jews pray before and after meals. The sages have many rules for blessing over food, there are different prayers for different types of food. They sages also require that the Jews say grace after meals, this prayer requires more components than prayers before meals. They thank him for the land, ask him to rebuild the temple, sustain his people, bless the host and hostess, and send peace to all of Israel. In the first section in Grace After Meals: Thanking God the Provider , the leader says For he is God who sustains all, doest good to all, and provides food for all creatures he has created. Blessed art thou, O Lord, who dost sustain all (696). These prayers are important to Jews because this shows that they are faithful to God and appreciate his work for them. The covenant here is if they stay faithful and gratuitous to God then God will rebuild Jerusalem, create peace for all of Israel and provide them with land and agriculture. Overall, the Rabbi s do not disagree on this topic. They all believe as long as they recite the benedictions at the right times and for the right things, then the covenant between God and the people of Israel will remain strong. Also, the section in Mishnah about the different festivals and celebrations highlight the covenant ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The little cafГ© in the short storysymbolizes a safe zone for people who feel unwanted, alone, and in despair. Hemingway uses the younger waiter as a foil for the older waiter to emphasize the opposing personalities and beliefs of the waiters. The ambiguity in the dialog between the two waiters evolved into a scandal relating to reproductions of the short story. The cafГ© is the only solace for the older waiter and all those who need a light for the night (Page 145). They yearn for a place to feel wanted and not be alone. Most people assume how a person is based on their appearances and their race. In today s society, people are closed minded, and do not take the opportunity getting to know the other person because of stereotyping and racism. Even though we all have different opinions toward other cultures, norms, beliefs and values we should all respect each other differences. Hitler And Antisemitism The experience of the war, economic crisis and the discontent caused by the conditions of the Treaty of Versailles created a favourable condition for a rise of utopian revolutionary movements such as Fascism in Italy and National Socialism in Germany. By placing the regeneration of the nation as one of their main objectives, they provided a dream of recreating a sense of community among the members of their nations whilst providing a sense of security through national myths and symbols, which left little or no room for those who were different. According to Mosse, war had transformed politics into a drama built upon shared emotions , and racism, thus, all too easily provided unity to this drama . Whereas the political domain in Germany was formed on the basis of racial thinking immediately after Hitler came to power, for Mussolini the racial laws were introduced later as a tool to give fascism a new dynamic. Racism represented the most radical initiative of the fascist project of remaking Italians as a way of regenerating the Italian nation. Although the racial law of fascist regime was based on Nuremberg laws, the racial thinking has been fused from the imperial policy on conquest of Ethiopia. In Italy, the racial law allowed to model new national identity by clearing it from foreign elements which were regarded as degenerative and having negative influence on the nation. I would then compare the results from the metabolic cart and the VO2 equation, and them compare the results for comparison. I would make this change, because our group had to alter the formula of VO2max=15x(HRmax /HRrest), in order to perform a submaximal test. What we did was calculated the max heart rate, and multiplied that value by 85% of VO2 which would be considered a submaximal test. I would have liked to have seen the comparison to the equation and the metabolic cart, to see if there was an increase or decrease in the values of each of the measurements of maximal oxygen consumption. This would be interesting to analyze, because the population will not always have a metabolic cart around to measure VO2. If the equation showed similar values to the metabolic cart, the equation would be a good tool to use for estimation if the metabolic cart was not available. 3.For your project, were the test procedures provided in the Metabolic Cart/VO2 Testing lecture followed? Crushing Poem Analysis the poem Crushing is a narrative with a central theme of the youthful years of under privileged juveniles with vivid images of theft, racing, intoxication, and calming ending of a beach vision. The poem is a wholesome picture that goes from being wild in the beginning to a calming image of a beach and stars at the end, which is also a technique of the poem that is taking readers on a journey. It spectacularly builds up images of fancy and elegant partying, to a calming end of evening beach scene. This could be represented by the core question of the poem that, the youthfulnessof someone is intoxicating when someone gets lost in translation and becomes dazed and confused. The poet is reminiscing about his glory days of being very intoxicated and rambunctious in the youth, that are going by too fast. They are rebellious, taking in all of society s adult vices of smoking, drinking, and wooing women. They mention borrowing the Mercedes, which really means that they stole or took it without permission. The bulletproof Mercedes makes them feel as if they are untouchable like a government official. The results from these cross section figures showed that rosette glands could be identified in the nephropre areas of every examined lobster. Subtle differences were found within these rosettes, one example being the cells within the rosettes either being rounded with many secretory granules, or thinner cells with smaller granules with spaces between the cells. Other rosettes were more organized into clusters of different sizes, and found within the connective tissue. These clusters were categorized into two separate gland complexes, on medial to the ureter and the other later (fig 3a b). Implementing The Universal Protocol Procedure In 2003, as an outcome of all the sentinel events reported to the Joint commission lead to the creation of the The Universal protocol for preventing wrong site, wrong procedures, and wrong person surgery (Mulloy Hughes 2008). So, one of the ways that could have potentially prevented the situation from happening at the first place was implementing the universal protocol procedure. According to the protocol the conduction of proper pre as well as post operating procedures are extremely mandatory. Therefore, by enforcing a standardized routine pre operating procedure such as verifying the patient as well as the correct site for the procedure, by having the medical staff or preferably the physician marking the operating site with his or her initials before the surgery will be an effective preventive measure (Mulloy Hughes 2008). Also, by properly conducting a time out session where the patient is provided with a standardized briefing prior to the patient is sedated in the OR could also eliminate some the sentinel or adverse events in the OR. Furthermore, follow a checklist, which not only pertains to the surgery itself, but also focuses on the other procedures involved such as admissions, anesthesia equipment, and discharge (Mulloy Hughes 2008). • 50. The Problem Of Crime And Crime The way that people analyze crime has evolved throughout history and has many different forms. Today, I am going to briefly explain some of the different theories that are used to study the subject of crime and criminality. What I will be evaluating these theories against will be small scale property crimesuch as theft. Anomie theory states that with the idea of the American dream and economic success that the stress created by not meeting the American Dream standard creates strain (Merton, 2013). Additionally, if social institutions are weak such as the family, then the economic institution becomes dominant and creates an imbalance, which in turn leads to higher crime rates (Merton, 2013). According to Messner (1982) crime has been theoretically linked to poverty in both its subsistence and the relative deprivation that is conceptualized. This just adds support to how not being able to achieve the American Dream can cause turmoil in the family life and can lead to more criminality. When used to explain small scale property crime Anomie theory could explains it strongly. If someone cannot meet the American Dream standard then they may begin to pursue other means to meeting that goal. This could definitely lead to many different crimes with property crime being one of them. You can t afford to go out and buy the American Dream. Fossil fuels such as gasoline, oil, methane gas, and other harmful energy sources will only aggravate earth s health and will inevitably affect our biosphere and atmosphere, in which we humans reside. There is nothing inherently wrong with this issue but can seriously be spoken more and enforced upon society, for the sake of humanity. It will take centuries before we can consider colonizing other planets and have humans living on them. We are unfortunately not there yet technologically speaking. All we can do is prolong earth s life before that happens, which will take some time. In some cases we have also caused the extinction of many species that once inhabited earth. Some countries and certain states have started to take note of these trends and started to implement public policy and also have come up with new ways to combat this.
