Review Of Ralph Waldo Emerson s Always Get Back Up
Always Get Back Up Ralph Waldo Emerson was a famous poet and a leader in the
transcendentalist movement in the 19th century. One of Emerson s famous quotes was
The greatest glory in living lies not in never failing, but rising every time we fail. This
quote has a lot of meaning. Many people can relate to it because of sports, school, and life
in general. Michael Jordan had a quote very similar to Emerson s. I ve missed more
than nine thousand shots in my career. I ve lost almost three hundred games. Twenty six
times I ve been trusted to take the game winning shot and missed. I ve failed over and
over and over again in my life. And that is why I succeed. (Jordan). This quote has taken

At the time I was very small and I was not a great football player. This brought the
whole team down. We finished the season with only three wins and about seven
losses. Our team practiced efficiently the next season. We finished with zero losses and
ten wins. The way that our team had risen was a perfect example of this quote.
Another example of pursuing after failure is the story of Thomas Edison. He failed
thousands of times but he kept persevering. His goal was to make a viable, electric
light bulb. One day a reporter asked why he hadn t given up and he responded with, I
now know definitely over 9,000 ways an electric light bulb will not work. Success is
almost in my grasp (Edison). Shortly after, Edison was successful. He invented the
first incandescent electric light bulb. This comes to show that Thomas Edison
persevered through tough times. The greatest glory in living lies not in never failing,
but rising every time we fail (Emerson). People fail all of the time. One of the best
feelings on this planet is rising after failure. I did this when it came to grades and
sports. Thomas Edison did this when it came to inventing the electric light bulb. Success
after failure can be accomplished through perseverance and hard work. That is why we

Rhetoric In Optimus Prime
Who am I? and Why am I here? Optimus Prime s final words are used by Michale Bay to
reflect the human curiosity, which often leaves us searching answers beyond our
existence. He also uses these biblical rhetorics to give the Autobots, who are equivalent
to protagonists in the transformers serious, a higher purpose in the movie, which is to act
as a shield from the Decepticons, ie. the antagonists, and prevent mankind from
extinction. The centrally aligned juxtaposed visual of Optimus Prime the Autobot hero,

the good character is placed on top of the bad character, which conveys the dominance of

Compare My Last Duchess And Porphyria s Lover
Love That Kills
(Comparing and Contrasting of My Last Duchess and Porphyria s Lover ) While
reading the poems My Last Duchess and Porphyria s Lover by Robert Browning, there
is a large possibility that you may be left haunted by the words that were written on the
paper. This is not to say that he was blandly optimistic, as he is sometimes portrayed.
He wrote fully about the world s cruelty and vice and was quite frank that he had himself
had no divine revelation. Nevertheless, he resolved to hope rather than to doubt; and this
determined hopefulness remains a comfort and inspiration for many (Baylor). While
reading Browning s poetry, people often become concerned with who he might have

In Porphyria s Lover and My Last Duchess we are able to conclude that there are many
similarities. My Last Duchess can be seen as diverse when compared to the poem
Porphyria s Lover . In this poem, Robert Browning tells of a story of a man who is
searching for a new wife after the death of his old one. The only dilemma is the
minutiae of how this prosperous Duke felt of his last lady. It s precisely her heart
(effusive) and her gaze (delighted) that infuriates the Duke (Guthrie). The Duke who
speaks in this poem, implies the idea that because his last wife was so happy, he had
no other option other than to kill her. In the poem, it says A heart how shall I say? too
soon made glad, too easily impressed; she liked whate er Sir (line 21). The Duke feels
that because this woman was ecstatic from all things, it took her attention away from
him. Because this idea overwhelmed him, he was filled with fury and told her to be
cautious in what she expressed. She must not have complied, as she did not live to
continue out the life they planned to spend together. Porphyria s Lover is easily
comparable to the poem My Last Duchess which were both written by Robert Browning
who is well known for his dramatic monologue. In this poem, Porphyria s lover, a man,
nonchalantly realizes the lady he is spending his time with has established love for him.

My Experience With Pancreatitis
Today was my first day at metro hospital. I had an interesting situation with a patient.
The patient was admitted with a hemorrhagic pseudo cyst and a history of chronic
pancreatic with complaints of abdominal pain. After doing a CT scan, they found
splenic hematoma. They did a CT scan and found a large gastric mass, with evidence of
pancreatitis. That might have been what was causing the pain. This did bring bad
memories of the last patient I had. Pancreatitis is not a joke. I went in to meet the patient
to find that he was grumpy. I noticed while talking to him that he just wanted to leave the
hospital. I even found out that he has been a chronic smoker for majority of his life.
Nevertheless, since his admission, he has not smoked since.... Show more content on

How Did The Minie Ball Affect Infantry Tactics During The...
How did the MiniГ© Ball Affect Infantry Tactics in the U.S. Civil War? The U.S. civil
war was the most bloody conflict that the U.S. had ever been involved in. It brought
over 1,100,000 casualties from both sides, with over ninety percent of these casualties
resulting from small arms fire (Howey Weaponry, the Rifle Musket and the MiniГ©
ball ). The MiniГ© Ball has been widely attributed to a majority of these cases. The
Ball was a bullet developed by Claude Г‰tienne MiniГ© and Henri Gustave Delvigne
in 1849 after the two French officers decided to improve on a currently existing design
(HistoryNet MiniГ© Ball ). The pair also designed a rifle, a gun containing a barrel
with grooves running in a corkscrew fashion along the length of the barrel. These
grooves caught the bullet as it traveled down the barrel and spun it, greatly increasing
the velocity and accuracy of the bullet as it left the barrel. Compared to the earlier
musket balls, which bounced around in the barrel and exited at an unpredictable
angle, it was much more accurate. When the bullet arrived in the United States, James
Burton at the arsenal in Harper s Ferry, Virginia, simplified the bullet into the .58
calibre widely used in the Civil War (Leonard The Bullet That Changed History ). The
ball, made of soft lead, featured a conical shape and a hollow center. This allowed it to
expand to fit the barrel when shot out of the gun and easily engage the rifling, making it
more aerodynamic and capable of flying at
Hamlet Vs Gertrude Research Paper

Hamlet vs. Gertrude:
Hamlet is one of the most well known plays of William Shakespeare s. Anyone who has
read the play knows that the plot has so many twists and turns that make it such an
intriguing story. It begins with Hamlet being upset after his father dies of poison. Queen
Gertrude, his mother, remarries quite quickly to Claudius, Hamlet s uncle. Queen
Gertrude doesn t know that Claudius killed her original husband, but Hamlet assumes
that she knows about the murder and that she remarried simply for sexual desire, which
isn t the case. Hamlet s love for his mother quickly turns to hate because she is so
innocent about the situation; he thinks she is pretending to not know. The increasing
failure in relationships fuels Hamlet to plan revenge on King Claudius. He has to
continually adjust his plan throughout the story when Claudius tries to get rid of him.
Hamlet becomes so focused on plotting revenge on Claudius that he doesn t even notice
that he abuses his mother s love for him and it ends up killing them both in the end.
Hamlet and Gertrude are different in their personality types. According to Keirsey s
temperament sorter, There are four main types of personality temperaments Guardians,

father. This is his main motive during the story. It drives him to forget about any
emotions but those of hate towards the
Pest Analysis Of Walmart
Several years ago, I was the Director of HR Strategy for Walmart US. As a component of
one of my early projects, and being fairly new to the organization, I was asked to conduct
a PEST of the organization based on my team s perspective. As a retail industry leader,
Walmart continues to withstand the potential negative effects of threats in the political,
economic, sociocultural, and technological (PEST) aspects of its business. However, this
success requires continued evaluation of the retail industry environment and constant
investment in risk mitigation strategies and processes.
These PEST factors also change over time, and since it has been years for me since being
there, I fresh look is required. These constant changes may present new threats or
opportunities that were otherwise not contemplated before (i.e. the Amazon effect).
Walmart must exploit the opportunities and protect itself from threats. In using the PEST
analysis, Walmart leaders and managers can determine which factors to prioritize in
strategy development. Let s look at each of the four factors in our further analysis.
Political Factors Are there any other political factors that are likely to change? Walmart
considers political factors in the retail and employment markets, usually pertaining to
government policies and employment law. In the PEST analysis model, politically active
interest groups are also significant in how Walmart reacts to this aspect. For the most
part, politics that would
Buber And Arendt Approaches To Zionism
In my paper, I will be compared Buber and Arendt s approaches to Zionism. Although
they both have the same humanist perspective on Zionism, their approaches in their
discussion of Zionism is exceedingly different. Therefore, although both Buber and
Arendt recognize the importance of incorporating the Palestinians in the process of the
creation of a Jewish state, Buber has a more optimistic view than Arendt. However, both
Buber and Arendt are critical of nationalism and imperialist power s influence in the
creation of the Jewish homeland. Accordingly, this paper will assess both Buber and
Arendt s views of Zionismand focus on their views of nationalism and the influence of
outside powers.

Both Buber and Arendt recognize that nationalism played a vital role in the creation of
the conflict. Buber recognized the rise of nationalism in Zionism and referred to as
unambiguous demarcation of a kind, a degenerated kind of nationalism which of late has
begun to spread even in Judaism. (Buber 48) Arendt and Buber were both concerned that
Zionist movement would become exclusive and unappealing. Buber stressed the
importance of including the Arabs in the dialogue and not making Zionism a repressive
nationalistic ideology. Like Buber, Arendt was critical of the rise of nationalism which
undermined the original goals of Zionism. Buber was concerned that the nationalist
development would become a permanent fixture and would led to a downfall dyed in the
colors of nationalism. (Buber 52) Therefore, both authors were disappointed with the
direction that Zionism was going. Buber and Arendt s humanist Zionist view led them to
hope for peace and cooperation and dialogue between the Jews and Arabs.
Arendt recognized the dangers of nationalism that necessarily and admittedly depends
upon the force of foreign nation is certainly worse. (Arendt 344) A major issue is that
asking outside powers such as the British to create a Jewish homeland led to
Balkanization in the region. Therefore, Arendt stresses the importance of having an
understanding that takes into account the whole region and it s needs of all the peoples.
(Arendt 345) Moreover, Arendt
Satanic Ritual Abuse
while some seem to be plausible which is the root of confusion for them (Colin, 1995:

outcomes of abuse differently. The subjective experience of Satanic ritual abuse leads to
different outcomes and therefore there are endless possibilities of mental disorders and
abnormal behaviours to develop. Not everyone will psychologically and behaviourally
react the same to these types of events, so consequently not everyone has the same
experience which is why clinicians must treat patients in accordance with their
symptoms. There is a wide range of symptoms related to numbers of mental disorders
linked to Satanic ritual abuse. As explored below, Satanic ritual

the executives makes the decision that correlates with the objectives of the company.
Their program is created to drive performance through a mixture of near term finances,

how the company achieves their compensation program and their objectives under that

Renewable Energy In America
Fuel price seems to be the subject that always makes headlines on a regular basis. The
United States is the biggest consumer of energy in the world. Lucas Davis, a Berkeley
Professor conducted a study in 2013 on global oil consumption and found that the
average American consumes more than 300 gallons of gasolineannually. The amount is
at least 200 gallons more than other developed countries such as Germany, and France.
(Davis, 2013) The high consumption forces Americans to rely on foreign fuel sources
since domestic energy is simply not enough to satisfy the thirst. Rising fuel price coupled
with fuel shortage scare are often a common concern for every American, thus there
needs to be an invention to stretch the supply in case of disaster.... Show more content on

Ethanol did not become such a staple addition to gasoline until the 1970s due to fuel
shortage scare. Its use became even more prevalent in the early 2000s with the increase
in global warming awareness. The Renewable Fuels Association reports that the United
States alone produced over 15 billion gallons of ethanol, a 14 billion gallons increase
from its production in 1999 (Industry Statistics, 2017). While ethanol is a clean energy
when use, however, its production is not quite as clean clean as it appears to be. Ethanol
is considered renewable since the heartland of the United States grows so much corn
annually to supply the plant. The corn growing process is quite damaging to the
environment. Farming equipment runs on diesel fuel, which directly contributes to the
greenhouse gas production. The use of fertilizer and insect repellent chemical is harmful
to soil and atmosphere. The transportation of crops relies heavily on semi tractors that
still heavily rely on fossil fuel, thus exacerbate the problem. Not to mention that ethanol
plants require electricity primarily generated by coal fired power plants since it is much
more efficient and a lot cheaper. All these factors contribute to the global warming
problem, the very problem that ethanol is supposed to

United States. The oligopolistic trio topped out at about a combined 90% market share
in a domestic industry with only seven remaining producers (International
Encyclopedia). The intra industry domestic rivalries experienced a new foe beginning in
the 60s. Starting with Volkswagen and Toyota, foreign competition began to chip away
at the Big Three s stranglehold of the US market. The emergence of foreign competitors
can partly be attributed to the US government and the $33 Billion Highway Act of 1956.
By greatly enhancing both regional and interstate roads, there was a greater reason than
ever before for the typical ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The result of these tougher regulations is that thirty years since CAFE standards were put
in place, new cars in the United States emit approximately 1 percent of the smog
producing compounds emitted by new cars in the 1970s (Encyclopedia). However,
the selling point for most vehicles did not hinge on fuel efficiency, it was still based
on luxury and features. European luxury imports took market share away from the
Big Three at the top targeting their most expensive offerings, and Asian imports at the
bottom by offering practical, inexpensive cars. GM made a desperate attempt to fight
back by announcing a new, separate headquarters in NYC for its luxury brand,
Cadillac with the goal of pursu[ing] opportunities with more focus and clarity (O
Leary and Welch). Nevertheless, the trend of increasing imports has only gained
momentum, with the average consumer having access to cars from all over the world.
The main Economic implication of increased imports is the decreasing trade deficit
and decreasing demand for domestic cars. Throughout the course of the next last 40
years, the Big Three saw their market share plummet over 30%. This steep drop off is
partially offset by the steadily increasing number of vehicles on the road in the US, but
it still signifies adverse economic benefit to domestic producers. In 2009, GM and
Chrysler filed for Chapter 11 restructuring due to their falling profits and business woes.

Ap World History Essay
How were the needs for water and economic structures in some of the earliest of world
s civilizations cities and states met around 3100 BCE 100 CE and how did they get
there? The cities and states back then depended on working waterways and architectural
growth in order for their population to thrive. The larger the population, the greater the
need for more easily and readily available water. When we think of a large population,
we often think of the word civilization and if they had certain traditions that may have
been passed down. Some of the first known civilizations were that of ancient
Mesopotamiaand Egypt which were located along the well known Nile, Tigrisand
Euphrates Rivers. They had traditions just like any other culture, but the Mesopotamians
wrote them down allowing historians a glimpse into their culture and their need for
water. By looking at these civilizations today, we can talk about the political and
economic factors of how water supplies were regulated around Mesopotamia and... Show

In addition to demonstrating that people could transport and store food effectively,
the presence of cities also indicates that people were producing enough surplus food to
allow for a specialization of labor (Wheeler 1). So in short, we could say that if
everyone was a farmer with this new access to water and new technology, then no one
would be building the city or preparing for the future. There would be no storage bins
for grains, no roads and no one to govern the city and create written laws or policies for
their growth. Supplying the city with water wasn t just a technical issue, but it also
affected the economical, legal and political development of any ancient
The Role of Chinese Women Essay
The Role of Chinese Women
China, located in East Asia, is the third largest country by area and the largest country
by population in the world. While China has one fifth of the world s total population,
and it also has one of the earliest civilizations, dating back to some 5000 years ago. China
is often distinguished for its technological advances and intelligence, but in the early
20th century, Chinese society was far from perfect. The women in China, lived a slow
and difficult life, bound by tradition and obedience. Women had to bind their feet at birth
or face adversity throughout their entire lives. Footbinding was a painful process that
allowed women to be thought of as beautiful and a good future wife.
However, their ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

families, cooked all the meals, cleaned all by themselves, and then worked the humid
fields.5 It was nearly impossible for women to leave the family and make something
out of themselves because they had very little education. They were required to leave
when the boys were studying or asked to copy some words out of a book, when the
tutor was free.6 Although they were given some money for groceries and other
supplies, women could not spend cash freely, without a man s permission.7 In addition,
when their husbands brought home a concubine, a mistress or prostitute, there was no
scene of jealously, unacceptance, or animosity. If these feelings were displayed, the
women were shamed and this was a way for the male to request for a divorce.8 Death,
a time for release and independence, was not such a time for women. There were two
worlds. The Shadow World was female, with a negative essence, and all things
motionless and deep. The Light World was male, with a positive essence, with all things
strong and high. Women still endured agony while a man had nothing but happiness.9
Constrained by tradition and the family, a women complied to the rules of filial
Three Types Of Forensic Evidence Analysis
There are many types of evidence and ways that evidence can be found. For example
fingerprints, DNA, and firearms are a couple. When a criminal commits a crime they
will leave physical evidence at the scene. For example, fingerprints are one of the most
significant types of evidence out there. Fingerprint evidence is very important because no
two people have been known to have the same fingerprint. Additionally, there are three
types are fingerprints that forensic investigators look at, which are latent, plastic, and
patent. Latent fingerprints are invisible to the eye and have to be processed with
chemicals or powders in order to be seen. Plastic fingerprints are in fact impressions that
are made when an individual touches a soft surface, for example, clay, wet paint, soap, or
putty. Patent fingerprints are in fact visible to the naked eye because the individual that
left them had blood or something on their fingers (Fingerprint Analysis, 2013).
Furthermore, in criminal justice cases computerized systems are used to find matches
locally, state wide, and nationally. Also, whom ever does the fingerprint examinations

In addition, everyone has DNA and it is located within the nucleus of our cells
throughout our bodies. For example blood, saliva, and hair can be used to trace our
DNA. During the first step of the DNA extraction process cells get broke open in order
to release DNA molecules into a solution. Additionally, during DNA testing the
extraction has to be examined to ensure that it is human and not bacteria or something
else. Furthermore, there is also a DNA amplification technique known as Polymerase
Chain Reaction (PCR), which makes millions of copies of a certain DNA sequence
within a few hours. The PCR process is crucial because many times DNA is limited at a

Teachers Do Not Focus On Phonics
Introduction
There are a lot of misconceptions and misinformation out there concerning how educators
can teach reading, spelling and writing in school classrooms today. A common
misconception is that teachers do not focus on phonics anymore or that starting teachers
do not have any understanding of how to teach phonics. So, what exactly is phonics in
education? And, how can educators teach phonics and the appropriate way to interpret or
comprehend the written codes found in different words? This essay develops a better
understanding of phonics and the various teaching approaches that teachers can use to
teach phonics effectively toward enhancing engagement and motivation of student
learning.
Phonics focuses on the sound letter relationships used in reading and writing, and
involves an understanding of the alphabetic principle the idea that spoken language is
made up of sounds and these sounds can be mapped to written letters (Hill, 2015, p. 241).
Phonics entails phonemic awareness or alphabet knowledge that is, converting various
sounds in spoken dialect and representing them in the written language. For children to
learn to read and spell using phonics, they must understand the relationship between
sounds (phonemes) and letters or letter combinations (graphemes) and then remember the
specific letter sequences and patterns used in different speech sounds. Phonics instruction
thus focuses on developing the relationship between spoken language and written dialect.
The
Elderly, Older, And Older People
For families in later life there are different occasions in which the elderly is depending
on their immediate environment such as; family, churches, or government support for
help. There are interchangeable names that some will use to describe someone who is
old in age. The terms that some researchers may use are as listed; elderly, aged, and
older people. There many things that occur as an individual gets older. Once the
individuals reach that elderly stage the amount of social contacts will increase. Before
continuing on what changes when one is elderly, it is essential to determine what is
elderly. This idea of elderly or being old is social constructed. According to Benokraitis
author of Marriages and Families: Changes, Choices, and Constraints stated, Our
perception and definition of old also depends on our age. Regardless of how we fell,
society usually defines old in chronological age (2015). There some complications to
elderly people the limit them from performing every day task. As an individual ages
their senses began to to weaken as well as mobility. From a psychological standpoint
mental health and ageismaffect older people in many ways which will be explain further
into this paper. In regards to mental stability a parent moving in with there adult children
will lessen the stress and provide a sense of comfort. Familycaregiving in later life can
differ and there are different styles people apply to nurturing their parents. Being able to

Creating a Social Program for the Homeless
Final Project: Creating a Social Program I have decided to create a social program that
identifies the social problem of Homelessness. The new human services, social
program will target helping homeless individuals and families to get off the streets. In
order to have a successful program I have to come up with an outline and cover all of
the basics. This program will have many different resources available to homeless or
about to be homeless individuals and families. There are so many homeless people
out there and her in the state of Florida there are not many places for homeless people
to turn to for comfort and safety. So I am truly excited to be creating this new program
that will help many people to go forward and live wonderful and successful lives, no
matter what they have been through. Throughout this paper I will be discussing some
of the things that are needed in order to start an organization. This paper will serve as
an outline or an information source on how to create a social program as well as the
social program that I am creating. Basic Information and Demographics The name of
the social program that I have come up with is called New Beginnings. This
organization will be a community service program for the homeless population.
Deciding on a place to put the organization is very important because it is best to try
and target an area that is in need of the services. After some careful research the
demographic area that I have chosen to place this
Radicalism And Radical Environmentalism
Environmental writers have always written radically about the environment because that
is what is necessary. The difference between the radical ecologists of today is radical
theory becoming radical action. Henry David Thoreau wrote plenty of radical ideas,
though his most often radical thought comes from On the Duty of Civil Disobedience.
Civil Disobedience provides modern day activists and ecologists with the foundation of
why it is important think critically about government actions, as well as showing readers
direct action against the government. Thoreau contributes partially to the eventual
formation of the radical ecology movement in this sense. The other half of the ideology
of radical environmentalists was popularized by Aldo Leopoldin Sand County Almanac.
Leopold s idea of a land ethicand biocentrism is the main ideology that drives radical
environmentalists. Only when Leopold and Thoreau are put together does a full picture
begin to form of what it takes to understand radical ecologists. Thoreau and Leopold lay
the groundwork for creating the perfect radical environmental movement; where Thoreau
gives instruction on action against the government and the majority, Leopold gives the
radical movement the idea to act on, biocentrism. To understand the conversation of
radicalism as informed by Thoreau and Leopold, there are some ideas that need to be
defined. What does it mean for an environmentalist to be radical? Is radicalism the same
as terrorism? Radicalism is an umbrella term, often used in a myriad of ways. Analyzing
the environmental movement, radical ideology is the concept that the world is
unsustainable, and the ideas put forth to make the world sustainable require a massive
shift in collective societal thought as well as a massive shift in the way most
communities, cities, states, etc. live (Sessions, 1995). The shift in collective thought
would be away from anthropomorphism, the idea that humans are the most important
thing in the world, towards biocentrism, the idea that all things in nature matter equally.
An idea, or action, can be radical without being violent towards living things. This is the
important distinction between radicalism and terrorism. For an action to be terrorism, it
Society s Faults In Uglies By Scott Westerfeld
Throughout the Uglies series, author Scott Westerfeld reflects on the faults of our
current society. (Tab here) Scott Westerfeld demonstrates society s faults by using a
Barbie doll world to exaggerate them. In Uglies, Scott Westerfeld writes, Even when
she and Peris used to spy on them from the shadows, giggling at all the stupid things
the pretties said and did, they couldn t resist staring. There was something magic in the
their large and perfect eyes, something that made you want to pay attention to whatever
they said, to protect them from any danger, to make them happy. They were so...
Pretty. The author is commenting on a common social situation seen today. The people
in the lower classes (Uglies) often look up to and want to please the people in the
upper classes (pretties). Suppliers want to please their takers. Relating to this topic, in
the society we live in today, it is assumed that everyone wants to be cured and in fact
cures are often forced upon us, just like the operation in Uglies.... Show more content on

Crito s Argument Analysis
Socrates decision to disregard his friends and disciples help was justifiable. Although
initially Crito s argument is compelling, Socrates paints a far stronger picture of the
moral rightness that Crito draws on for his argument. Crito attempts to sway Socrates by
conjuring a sense of guilt within him. By saying you are betraying your sons and I feel
ashamed on your behalf (Plato, Crito45d 45e) Crito is trying to make Socratesvirtuous
side flare up. However, this approach pushes Socrates to make an argument that embodies
the law as a person and thus allows Socrates to treat mans relationship with the law the
same as with other men. Socrates introduces a line of reasoning that creates an implicit
agreement between the city, and by extension... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The laws propose that there are various ways for Socrates to voice and act on his
discontent for the laws, if he had any. Firstly, since Athenian law is based on direct
democracy the city gives Socrates an ability to observe the affairs of the city and the
laws (Plato, Crito 51c) which would allow him to marginally modify some items he
finds unappealing. Furthermore, the laws recognize that if Socrates was not content
with the situation in Athens that Not one of our laws raises any obstacle or forbids
him, if he is not satisfied with us or the city, if one wants to go and live in a colony or
wants to go anywhere else (Plato, Crito 51d). However, while this mitigation clause is not
being acted on, essentially when a citizen of Athens chooses to remain in the city, that
individual has agreed to the contract and is therefore under the command of the city and
her instructions whatever they may
Heart Disease Is The Most Common Cause Of Death
People all around the world pass away every day for numerous reasons. Maybe it was a
natural death, or an accident, or a really bad sickness. However more often than not,
heart disease is the most common cause of death. Heart disease affects people of all
ages, race, and gender. Heart disease can be defined as any condition of the heartthat
impairs its function, (dictionary.com). These conditions include heart attack, stroke, and
heart failure. Heart diseasein general, is the most prevalent cause of death across the
globe. Heart disease can be linked to many other health factors including nutritionand
diet. An unhealthy diet can lead to numerous problems, but in most cases it will cause
some sort of heart disease.
Although ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the U.S, the southeastern states lead the U.S in cardiovascular deaths. It is suggested
that because of the diet high in saturated fats and salty foods (healthline) the southeast
has a greater number of heart disease deaths than the rest of the country. In fact, the
World Heart Federation estimates that diet influences about 31 percent of coronary heart
disease worldwide. Also, individuals who follow a diet consisting of mostly saturated fats
are 30 percent more likely to develop cardiovascular disease.
A person s diet is often underestimated as a risk factor for heart disease, however that is
not necessarily the case. Many risk factors such as obesity and high blood pressure can
be traced back to the individual s diet. A piece of common advice by health care
professions is often reduce the amount of fat and cholesterol in the diet. This is probably
the most important when trying to prevent heart disease because unhealthy fats can
cause the buildup of plaque in your blood vessels, particularly your arteries. (livestrong)
This plaque can cause a blockage in the arteries, preventing blood from getting to the
heart which often leads to heart attacks. A diet consisting of a lot of saturated fats can
end up increasing cholesterol levels which also contributes to the build up of plaque.
Another major component of diet that is related to heart health is a person s sodium
intake. According to the American Heart Association
Binary Oppisition Essay
Binary Opposition
In Greek tragedy there are many themes that are contrasted with each other. This is
known as binary opposition, which s defined as a contrast of themes that are the
opposite poles of each other. There are many conflicts in Euripides Medea and Bacchae:
perhaps the three most conspicuous oppositions are rational versus irrational, foreigner
versus natives, and stereotypical dichotomy of female and male. The first binary opposite
in Euripides plays are rational versus irrational thinking, his characters are changing
constantly within the plays; there are a couple of characters that stays in a rational
thinking which they do not favor any side of the conflict. In Medea, Euripides showed
rational thinking through the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As they were on their way to worship Dionysus they see Pentheus and stopped to talk
with him (212). Pentheus started to speak about how he was out of the city and heard
rumors of the women leaving their homes and rather engage in cult gathering and each
lady is slinks off in a different direction (216 225). He speaks about how [Semele] lied
about her union with Zeus and that he is not a god (244). But Tiresias replies back to
Pentheus that [w]henever a wise man sets out to argue an honest case it s no great
undertaking to argue well (266 67). Tiresias also states that Pentheus rejoice whenever
crowds gather at the palace gates and the city glorifies [your] name... Dionysus too, ...
takes delight in receiving [the same] honor (319 21). In the mean time Cadmus also
explains that [e]ven if the god does not exist, as you claim, let him be considered a god
in your eyes. Lies for good cause... In this way [Semele] might seem to have given birth
to a god and honor might accrue to our entire family (332 36). Equally important, that
Pentheus and Dionysus constantly change from rational to irrational thinking throughout
the play. Pentheus thinks irrationally about what the women behavior is while they are in
the mountains (354). He believes that the women are in acts of lust with Aphrodite s
pleasure (225). As for Dionysus irrational thinking is when he punishes his family for
their hybris acts towards him (1347). Although there is a rational and irrational

  • 3. Review Of Ralph Waldo Emerson s Always Get Back Up Always Get Back Up Ralph Waldo Emerson was a famous poet and a leader in the transcendentalist movement in the 19th century. One of Emerson s famous quotes was The greatest glory in living lies not in never failing, but rising every time we fail. This quote has a lot of meaning. Many people can relate to it because of sports, school, and life in general. Michael Jordan had a quote very similar to Emerson s. I ve missed more than nine thousand shots in my career. I ve lost almost three hundred games. Twenty six times I ve been trusted to take the game winning shot and missed. I ve failed over and over and over again in my life. And that is why I succeed. This brought the whole team down. We finished the season with only three wins and about seven losses. Our team practiced efficiently the next season. We finished with zero losses and ten wins. The way that our team had risen was a perfect example of this quote. Another example of pursuing after failure is the story of Thomas Edison. He failed thousands of times but he kept persevering. His goal was to make a viable, electric light bulb. One day a reporter asked why he hadn t given up and he responded with, I now know definitely over 9,000 ways an electric light bulb will not work. Success is almost in my grasp (Edison). Shortly after, Edison was successful. He invented the first incandescent electric light bulb. This comes to show that Thomas Edison persevered through tough times. The greatest glory in living lies not in never failing, but rising every time we fail (Emerson). People fail all of the time. One of the best feelings on this planet is rising after failure. I did this when it came to grades and sports. Thomas Edison did this when it came to inventing the electric light bulb. Success after failure can be accomplished through perseverance and hard work. That is why we should always get back up after

Optimus Prime s final words are used by Michale Bay to reflect the human curiosity, which often leaves us searching answers beyond our existence. He also uses these biblical rhetorics to give the Autobots, who are equivalent to protagonists in the transformers serious, a higher purpose in the movie, which is to act as a shield from the Decepticons, ie. the antagonists, and prevent mankind from extinction. Compare My Last Duchess And Porphyria s Lover Love That Kills (Comparing and Contrasting of My Last Duchess and Porphyria s Lover ) While reading the poems My Last Duchess and Porphyria s Lover by Robert Browning, there is a large possibility that you may be left haunted by the words that were written on the paper. This is not to say that he was blandly optimistic, as he is sometimes portrayed. He wrote fully about the world s cruelty and vice and was quite frank that he had himself had no divine revelation. Nevertheless, he resolved to hope rather than to doubt; and this determined hopefulness remains a comfort and inspiration for many (Baylor). In Porphyria s Lover and My Last Duchess we are able to conclude that there are many similarities. My Last Duchess can be seen as diverse when compared to the poem Porphyria s Lover . In this poem, Robert Browning tells of a story of a man who is searching for a new wife after the death of his old one. The only dilemma is the minutiae of how this prosperous Duke felt of his last lady. It s precisely her heart (effusive) and her gaze (delighted) that infuriates the Duke (Guthrie). The Duke who speaks in this poem, implies the idea that because his last wife was so happy, he had no other option other than to kill her. In the poem, it says A heart how shall I say? too soon made glad, too easily impressed; she liked whate er Sir (line 21). The Duke feels that because this woman was ecstatic from all things, it took her attention away from him. Because this idea overwhelmed him, he was filled with fury and told her to be cautious in what she expressed. She must not have complied, as she did not live to continue out the life they planned to spend together. Porphyria s Lover is easily comparable to the poem My Last Duchess which were both written by Robert Browning who is well known for his dramatic monologue. In this poem, Porphyria s lover, a man, nonchalantly realizes the lady he is spending his time with has established love for him. Chillingly, an analyzer of this poem wrote, It was

  • 10. How Did The Minie Ball Affect Infantry Tactics During The... How did the MiniГ© Ball Affect Infantry Tactics in the U.S. Civil War? The U.S. civil war was the most bloody conflict that the U.S. had ever been involved in. It brought over 1,100,000 casualties from both sides, with over ninety percent of these casualties resulting from small arms fire (Howey Weaponry, the Rifle Musket and the MiniГ© ball ). The MiniГ© Ball has been widely attributed to a majority of these cases. The Ball was a bullet developed by Claude Г‰tienne MiniГ© and Henri Gustave Delvigne in 1849 after the two French officers decided to improve on a currently existing design (HistoryNet MiniГ© Ball ). The pair also designed a rifle, a gun containing a barrel with grooves running in a corkscrew fashion along the length of the barrel. These grooves caught the bullet as it traveled down the barrel and spun it, greatly increasing the velocity and accuracy of the bullet as it left the barrel. Compared to the earlier musket balls, which bounced around in the barrel and exited at an unpredictable angle, it was much more accurate. When the bullet arrived in the United States, James Burton at the arsenal in Harper s Ferry, Virginia, simplified the bullet into the .58 calibre widely used in the Civil War (Leonard The Bullet That Changed History ). The ball, made of soft lead, featured a conical shape and a hollow center. This allowed it to expand to fit the barrel when shot out of the gun and easily engage the rifling, making it more aerodynamic and capable of flying at

Anyone who has read the play knows that the plot has so many twists and turns that make it such an intriguing story. It begins with Hamlet being upset after his father dies of poison. Queen Gertrude, his mother, remarries quite quickly to Claudius, Hamlet s uncle. Queen Gertrude doesn t know that Claudius killed her original husband, but Hamlet assumes that she knows about the murder and that she remarried simply for sexual desire, which isn t the case. Hamlet s love for his mother quickly turns to hate because she is so innocent about the situation; he thinks she is pretending to not know. The increasing failure in relationships fuels Hamlet to plan revenge on King Claudius. He has to continually adjust his plan throughout the story when Claudius tries to get rid of him. Hamlet becomes so focused on plotting revenge on Claudius that he doesn t even notice that he abuses his mother s love for him and it ends up killing them both in the end. • 12. Pest Analysis Of Walmart Several years ago, I was the Director of HR Strategy for Walmart US. As a component of one of my early projects, and being fairly new to the organization, I was asked to conduct a PEST of the organization based on my team s perspective. As a retail industry leader, Walmart continues to withstand the potential negative effects of threats in the political, economic, sociocultural, and technological (PEST) aspects of its business. However, this success requires continued evaluation of the retail industry environment and constant investment in risk mitigation strategies and processes. These PEST factors also change over time, and since it has been years for me since being there, I fresh look is required. These constant changes may present new threats or opportunities that were otherwise not contemplated before (i.e. the Amazon effect). Walmart must exploit the opportunities and protect itself from threats. In using the PEST analysis, Walmart leaders and managers can determine which factors to prioritize in strategy development. Let s look at each of the four factors in our further analysis. Political Factors Are there any other political factors that are likely to change? Walmart considers political factors in the retail and employment markets, usually pertaining to government policies and employment law. In the PEST analysis model, politically active interest groups are also significant in how Walmart reacts to this aspect. For the most part, politics that would

Although they both have the same humanist perspective on Zionism, their approaches in their discussion of Zionism is exceedingly different. Therefore, although both Buber and Arendt recognize the importance of incorporating the Palestinians in the process of the creation of a Jewish state, Buber has a more optimistic view than Arendt. However, both Buber and Arendt are critical of nationalism and imperialist power s influence in the creation of the Jewish homeland. Buber recognized the rise of nationalism in Zionism and referred to as unambiguous demarcation of a kind, a degenerated kind of nationalism which of late has begun to spread even in Judaism. (Buber 48) Arendt and Buber were both concerned that Zionist movement would become exclusive and unappealing. Buber stressed the importance of including the Arabs in the dialogue and not making Zionism a repressive nationalistic ideology. Like Buber, Arendt was critical of the rise of nationalism which undermined the original goals of Zionism. Buber was concerned that the nationalist development would become a permanent fixture and would led to a downfall dyed in the colors of nationalism. (Buber 52) Therefore, both authors were disappointed with the direction that Zionism was going. Buber and Arendt s humanist Zionist view led them to hope for peace and cooperation and dialogue between the Jews and Arabs. Arendt recognized the dangers of nationalism that necessarily and admittedly depends upon the force of foreign nation is certainly worse. (Arendt 344) A major issue is that asking outside powers such as the British to create a Jewish homeland led to Balkanization in the region. Therefore, Arendt stresses the importance of having an understanding that takes into account the whole region and it s needs of all the peoples. (Arendt 345) Moreover, Arendt

  • 16. Renewable Energy In America Fuel price seems to be the subject that always makes headlines on a regular basis. The United States is the biggest consumer of energy in the world. Lucas Davis, a Berkeley Professor conducted a study in 2013 on global oil consumption and found that the average American consumes more than 300 gallons of gasolineannually. The amount is at least 200 gallons more than other developed countries such as Germany, and France. (Davis, 2013) The high consumption forces Americans to rely on foreign fuel sources since domestic energy is simply not enough to satisfy the thirst. Rising fuel price coupled with fuel shortage scare are often a common concern for every American, thus there needs to be an invention to stretch the supply in case of disaster.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Ethanol did not become such a staple addition to gasoline until the 1970s due to fuel shortage scare. Its use became even more prevalent in the early 2000s with the increase in global warming awareness. The Renewable Fuels Association reports that the United States alone produced over 15 billion gallons of ethanol, a 14 billion gallons increase from its production in 1999 (Industry Statistics, 2017). While ethanol is a clean energy when use, however, its production is not quite as clean clean as it appears to be. Ethanol is considered renewable since the heartland of the United States grows so much corn annually to supply the plant. The corn growing process is quite damaging to the environment. Farming equipment runs on diesel fuel, which directly contributes to the greenhouse gas production. The use of fertilizer and insect repellent chemical is harmful to soil and atmosphere. The transportation of crops relies heavily on semi tractors that still heavily rely on fossil fuel, thus exacerbate the problem. Not to mention that ethanol plants require electricity primarily generated by coal fired power plants since it is much more efficient and a lot cheaper. All these factors contribute to the global warming problem, the very problem that ethanol is supposed to

The oligopolistic trio topped out at about a combined 90% market share in a domestic industry with only seven remaining producers (International Encyclopedia). The intra industry domestic rivalries experienced a new foe beginning in the 60s. Starting with Volkswagen and Toyota, foreign competition began to chip away at the Big Three s stranglehold of the US market. However, the selling point for most vehicles did not hinge on fuel efficiency, it was still based on luxury and features. European luxury imports took market share away from the Big Three at the top targeting their most expensive offerings, and Asian imports at the bottom by offering practical, inexpensive cars. GM made a desperate attempt to fight back by announcing a new, separate headquarters in NYC for its luxury brand, Cadillac with the goal of pursu[ing] opportunities with more focus and clarity (O Leary and Welch). Nevertheless, the trend of increasing imports has only gained momentum, with the average consumer having access to cars from all over the world. The main Economic implication of increased imports is the decreasing trade deficit and decreasing demand for domestic cars. Throughout the course of the next last 40 years, the Big Three saw their market share plummet over 30%. This steep drop off is partially offset by the steadily increasing number of vehicles on the road in the US, but it still signifies adverse economic benefit to domestic producers. In 2009, GM and Chrysler filed for Chapter 11 restructuring due to their falling profits and business woes. FUTURE

Ap World History Essay How were the needs for water and economic structures in some of the earliest of world s civilizations cities and states met around 3100 BCE 100 CE and how did they get there? The cities and states back then depended on working waterways and architectural growth in order for their population to thrive. The larger the population, the greater the need for more easily and readily available water. When a criminal commits a crime they will leave physical evidence at the scene. For example, fingerprints are one of the most significant types of evidence out there. Fingerprint evidence is very important because no two people have been known to have the same fingerprint. Additionally, there are three types are fingerprints that forensic investigators look at, which are latent, plastic, and patent. Latent fingerprints are invisible to the eye and have to be processed with chemicals or powders in order to be seen. Plastic fingerprints are in fact impressions that are made when an individual touches a soft surface, for example, clay, wet paint, soap, or putty. Patent fingerprints are in fact visible to the naked eye because the individual that left them had blood or something on their fingers (Fingerprint Analysis, 2013). Teachers Do Not Focus On Phonics Introduction There are a lot of misconceptions and misinformation out there concerning how educators can teach reading, spelling and writing in school classrooms today. A common misconception is that teachers do not focus on phonics anymore or that starting teachers do not have any understanding of how to teach phonics. So, what exactly is phonics in education? And, how can educators teach phonics and the appropriate way to interpret or comprehend the written codes found in different words? This essay develops a better understanding of phonics and the various teaching approaches that teachers can use to teach phonics effectively toward enhancing engagement and motivation of student learning. Phonics focuses on the sound letter relationships used in reading and writing, and involves an understanding of the alphabetic principle the idea that spoken language is made up of sounds and these sounds can be mapped to written letters (Hill, 2015, p. 241). Phonics entails phonemic awareness or alphabet knowledge that is, converting various sounds in spoken dialect and representing them in the written language. For children to learn to read and spell using phonics, they must understand the relationship between sounds (phonemes) and letters or letter combinations (graphemes) and then remember the specific letter sequences and patterns used in different speech sounds. Phonics instruction thus focuses on developing the relationship between spoken language and written dialect. The

  • 26. Radicalism And Radical Environmentalism Environmental writers have always written radically about the environment because that is what is necessary. The difference between the radical ecologists of today is radical theory becoming radical action. Henry David Thoreau wrote plenty of radical ideas, though his most often radical thought comes from On the Duty of Civil Disobedience. Civil Disobedience provides modern day activists and ecologists with the foundation of why it is important think critically about government actions, as well as showing readers direct action against the government. Thoreau contributes partially to the eventual formation of the radical ecology movement in this sense. The other half of the ideology of radical environmentalists was popularized by Aldo Leopoldin Sand County Almanac. Leopold s idea of a land ethicand biocentrism is the main ideology that drives radical environmentalists. Only when Leopold and Thoreau are put together does a full picture begin to form of what it takes to understand radical ecologists. Thoreau and Leopold lay the groundwork for creating the perfect radical environmental movement; where Thoreau gives instruction on action against the government and the majority, Leopold gives the radical movement the idea to act on, biocentrism. To understand the conversation of radicalism as informed by Thoreau and Leopold, there are some ideas that need to be defined. What does it mean for an environmentalist to be radical? Is radicalism the same as terrorism? Radicalism is an umbrella term, often used in a myriad of ways. Analyzing the environmental movement, radical ideology is the concept that the world is unsustainable, and the ideas put forth to make the world sustainable require a massive shift in collective societal thought as well as a massive shift in the way most communities, cities, states, etc. live (Sessions, 1995). The shift in collective thought would be away from anthropomorphism, the idea that humans are the most important thing in the world, towards biocentrism, the idea that all things in nature matter equally. An idea, or action, can be radical without being violent towards living things. This is the important distinction between radicalism and terrorism. For an action to be terrorism, it

Many risk factors such as obesity and high blood pressure can be traced back to the individual s diet. A piece of common advice by health care professions is often reduce the amount of fat and cholesterol in the diet. This is probably the most important when trying to prevent heart disease because unhealthy fats can cause the buildup of plaque in your blood vessels, particularly your arteries.
