Analysis Of A Humorous Wedding
Scott and Keiya are some of the most delightful people our team has ever met. We
had the pleasure of meeting them at the Bridal expo in Phoenix. They expressed to
us how happy they were to find a team of local wedding photographers and
videographers that they could trust to capture the memories of their weddingday.
Pre Ceremony Photoshoot
Before their wedding, we took photos of Scott by himself in front of the beautiful
Arizona landscape. Afterwards, we took photos of Keiya in her room as she was
getting ready for their event. We enjoyed getting to know each of them in their own
setting before taking their wedding portraits together. Their love and intrigue for each
other was so obvious when they were together.

How the internet has affected the music industry. Over the past half decade, the

In the recent year, illegal downloads have been dominating the music industry not
only in the UK but worldwide. In 2015, numbers showed that a massive 62% of
people in the UK either illegally download or steam music online, this affect artist
s income when it comes to illegally downloading music as when they see how much
money they have made it will be plummeting each month. Throughout the UK
many people were surveyed and results showed that, 26% of the people surveyed
downloaded music illegally online. In the USA, The Recording Industry
Association of America (also known as RIAA) reported that music sales have
dropped massive 42% ever since illegal download was invented. This can affect the
music industry in many ways some may be that if illegal downloads keep rising it
will make sales lower and potentially make it harder for artists getting worldwide

Dangerous Liaisons By Claudia Moscovici
Nakia was in a relationship with a psychopath. A person with a psychopathic
personality lacks the ability to love or establish meaningful relationships. A
psychopath is a predator who pretends to love you in order to lure you into his
deadly game of power, control, and manipulation. The man who Nakia thought
was her knight in shining armor turned out to be a nightmare. Throughout their
relationship, he emotionally abused her, held a gun to her head, criticized her
weight, made false accusations, cheated, called her names, and physically
assaulted her during pregnancy. A psychopath seeks to destroy your self worth and
self esteem through cruel and methodical mind manipulation. In her book,
Dangerous Liaisons: How to Recognize and Escape from Psychopathic Seduction,
Claudia Moscovici writes about psychopaths and how they seduce women. She
reveals the process of psychopathic seduction: Idealize, Devalue, and Discard. Let s
examine Nakia s abusive relationship using the Idealize, Devalue, and Discard
phases, so we can observe how a psychopath operates. 1.Idealization Phase During
the Idealization Phase the predator lures you in with the promise of love He s a

When I was four years of age I attended a swimming club at Seven Islands in
Southwark. The pool was fairly large and was rarely crowded, that was one comfort
for me. Seven Islands had many activities other than swimming, I myself did not
choose to do swimming my mum had decided that I would benefit from it.
My first day at the club started in a shallow pool opposite a larger one. I already
knew two people who came with me, that made me feel a little confident despite the
crying of other children. We had two instructors a man and a women both were
roughly in their thirties the man had brown hair and was quite tall, the women had

The day I learned to swim was a normal day, one month after I started. After school
my mum brought me home to get my swimming gear ready for swimming, when I
arrived at Seven Islands I was told that one of the instructors had gone on holiday,
in his place was a new women who was tall and had brown hair and was from
Australia. The new lady was nice and spoke softly. She and the other women
decided to see if we could swim without assistance, she started with me first she
held both of my hands and told me to start kicking before I knew it she let go of
my hands so I had to rely on moving them to support myself I then realized that I
was actually swimming alone, after about three seconds I caught the ledge, the shock
of it distracted me I could not believe it. When the instructress went on to other
people I tried again this time using different styles of swimming I was confident with
diving and front stroke. At the end of the session I was pleased with myself and so
were my friends.
Three years after practicing and learning more and more I kept attending I never
missed a session until finally the club moved to Walworth road, they gave each
member an application form saying that each member acknowledged that the club
was moving and that you would still attend. I decided not to stay on because I had

Steve Jobs As A Technopreneure

Symbolism, And Personification In Thanatopsis By
William...
In the poem Thanatopsis by William Cullen Bryant, he uses many literary devices
such as personification, symbol, and simile to reveal the meaning of the work. The
meaning of the poem is most easily stated that, people should approach death
pleasantly. With each device Bryant uses, he intricately places them in the writing as
well as has them frame the poem. This is what makes Thanatopsis so easy to
understand even though the author is using such cultured ideas. His ability to portray
the meaning through these devices shows the sophistication of his writing as well as
his thoughts. By using these literary devices, the audience better comprehends how
vital it is to learn the meaning. Bryant uses personification throughout the whole
poem with the use of nature to help the audience s minds comprehend the goal of
the writing. The poem gives a lady the role of Nature and She has a voice of
gladness, and a smile And eloquence of beauty; and she glides Into darker musings,
with a mild And healing sympathy that steals away (4 7). This quote is
demonstrating that the lady glides into the sad thoughts of dying people and
brightens them up. Also, to let them know that she is there to support them when
they are afraid of death. By giving Nature a personality it makes the poem more
relatable and comforting which works with the meaning of a pleasant death. Bryant
uses Nature to calm our worries of death. Almost like the idea of Mother Nature,
which is usually related with
Snapshot Isolation And There Validation Steps For Update...
TERM REPROT
SNAPSHOT ISOLATION
Abstract:
This paper mainly describes about the snapshot isolation and there validation steps for
update transactions and serializability issues of snapshot isolation. To maintain more
than one version of a data items it can possible to permit a single transaction to read
an existing version of a data item rather than the more update version created by an
uncommitted transaction or by a transaction that ought to come later in serialization
order. To obtain this there are different types of multi version concurrency control
techniques one of those techniques which widely used in the real world is snapshot
isolation. It has been used by major database management system to obtain high
throughput. It also provides better performance than the serialzability so it s gained
wide acceptance in commercial and open source systems such as Oracle, SQL,
PostgreSQL, Interbase, Firebird.
Introduction:
Snapshot isolation is a multi version concurrency control that is very popular and
intensely utilized. The snapshot isolation technique was first introduced by the
critique of ANSI isolation levels in a paper in 1995. The work on multi version
concurrency control which derived snapshot isolation. Multi version concurrency is
nothing but every transaction is conceded consistent views of the data from the
transaction begin and the database will use the existing version of the data to
guarantee isolation level is achieved without locking the data. According to
My European Vacation
European Vacation My childhood was filled with weekend road trips with my
family traveling to surrounding states. Sitting in the back of our mini van with my
brother watching Scooby Doo is one of the best memories I have. As my brother
and I got older, we started taking bigger trips. The first big trip my family took was
to Disney World, I can still remember the feeling of feeling the plane s wheels take
off the ground. Since then, I have always craved that feeling. Traveling became
something that my family did every year, and every year I looked forward to the
week spent just with my family. My parents have always dreamt about taking my
brother and I to Europe. After searching for the perfect vacation, my mom decided on
a 20 day toured trip to Italy, France, Switzerland, and The United Kingdom. I was
ecstatic, since I had been young I had always wanted to go to Paris, and now I got to
experience all of these other countries as well. The day finally came for us to leave
on this European adventure. We were all packed up and heading for our first flight
to O Hare International Airport. We boarded our international plane ready to take on
the thirteen hour flight that was ahead of us. The next morning we arrived at our
first destination thousands of miles from home, we were finally in Rome. I had been
familiar with the song, On the Road Again , by Willie Nelson before our European
Vacation, but it was only a song to me then. I never would have thought that the song

The United States Armed Forces Essay
There are currently 2,204,836 people serving in the United States Armed Forces.
Females currently make up 16.2% of those currently serving equating to 358,156 this
number includes both enlisted, reserve, and the officer corps. While the Armed
Forces has downsized, the percentage of females serving has increased with females
now making up 17.8% of all active duty personnel and roughly thirty nine thousand
serving as active duty officers. With the increasing diversity of the military, Secretary
of Defense Ash Carter officially opened all positions to females on 03 JAN 2016, in
a move to better strengthen the Armed Forces. (Demographics, 2013)
In 1981, the Supreme Court of the United States(SCOTUS) ruled on Rostker v.
Goldberg that stated, women would not be required to register for the Selective
Service System(SSS) because they are not able to serve in direct combat roles in
any branch of the Armed Forces.(Rostker v. Goldberg) While females have gone to
war and been on the front lines, they have always been there indirectly. Until the
announcement by Secretary Carter on 03 DEC 2015 females were not allowed to
directly serve in combat units, or special operations. This change in policy by the
United States Armed Forces means there is precedence set by Rostker v. Goldberg
in the case of females having to register for the SSS. The SSS currently registers all
males between the ages of eighteen to twenty five, in the occurrence that the draft is

Foreign Policy, Reformed
Looking back at the history of the United States, we find ourselves in the midst of
a revelation. The country of grandiose influence and excessive wealth, that we
have come to know during our lifetimes, actually had quite humble beginnings. At
a time when most of us are used to having most countries come to the US to inquire
for help and assistance, we may not be all too aware that our own country was once
asking for assistance as well. Yes, the US and our people, were once greatly
dependent upon investors from the other side of the world. Our land, railroads,
canals, and countless other projects were once financed and ... Show more content on

The notion that we do not need foreign policy, or that it is an antiquated concept is
greatly misleading. In fact, we need a strong foreign policy now more than ever. We
are living at a time when the world s geographical divides are shrinking due to ever
increasing advancements in communication, technology, trade, and a strong global
economic interdependence. Even though the notion that we are somehow
economically dependent upon other countries is not something new for the US, we
still see a strong indifference to foreign policy. In order to understand the problems,
let us take a step back and examine the history of US foreign policy.
For the most of the twentieth century we have defined our foreign policy in
regards to our competition with the Soviet Union up until the end of the Cold War.
Even though we never directly went to war with the Soviet Union, we were still
engaged in a race to the top. However, once the Soviet Union collapsed, we saw a
drastic change and a shifting away from foreign policy towards domestic policy. It
was not until 9/11 that we have started to focus our attention back again towards
foreign policy.
In other instances, throughout the history of the US, we have always been dependent
upon other nations. Mead and Kaufman gives us thorough history lessons on our
economic interdependence or even co dependence with other nations during our
formative years as a nation. We would not be the nation that we are today if it was not
The Use Of Roundup, A Major Concern For The American
People
Autism, a disease that increased alongside the growing use of Roundup, is a major
concern for the American people. The United States has the highest rate in Autism
in the world. Glyphosate again plays a major role in the large amount of cases.
This was proven by a study conducted by Dr. Huber, a professor emeritus from
Purdue University. Dr. Huber tested on rats being fed non GMO then switched to
GMO feed. At the beginning of the study when the rats were being fed organically
made food were very passive and friendly but after a month of being fed GM food
they became easily irritated and would not get along with one another. This proved
that the psychological and behavioral well being of rats was affected by their food
and they showed similar symptoms and behaviors to those diagnosed with Autism.
In figure 1, the correlation between the increase of glyphosate and Autism is very
clear. If America wants to decrease the amount of cases of Autism per year, the ban
of GMOs would be very beneficial. It would also promote a healthier diet as organic
food would increase in number and lower in price. Due to the mass production of
cheap corn and soy in America, other food industries that produce healthier fruits and
vegetables decrease in number. Importing healthy fruits and vegetables from other
countries is unnecessarily expensive and that raises the prices of healthy foods in the
market, which discourages many lower class families from eating the recommended
daily fruit and
Food Shortages And Its Effects On Eating Habits Essay
Introduction
In America, we are constantly surrounded by abundance. Food is a prevalent waste
item in the United States. Most people do not think about the resources it took to
produce, transport, and prepare the food they throw away. Our food waste is not
actually just trash; it is the key to human survival. Ordinary consumers can change
the future with one small action: to stop wasting food. Actions at the individual level
can decrease food waste and feed those in need. Twenty five percent of purchased
food is thrown away. (TED) Often this is because food has spoiled, but it can be for
other reasons such as oversupply, misread labels, or individual consumer shopping
and eating habits. http://www.fao.org/docrep/018/i3347e/i3347e.pdf
Food insecurity can be defined as the inability to acquire an adequate quality or
sufficient quantity of food in socially acceptable ways or the uncertainty that one
will be able to do so. One in six Americans are food insecure. There are five
components of food security, including quantity, quality, suitability, psychological,
and social factors. Food insecurity can occur for a variety of reasons, the main one
being poverty. Decreasing the amount of food wasted has the ability to feed millions
of these Americans.
Food loss refers to a decrease in mass, nutritional value, or quality of food that was
originally intended for human consumption. These losses are caused by shrinkage
from cooking, loss from mold, pests, or inadequate
Black Skin White Coats Summary
In Black Skin, White Coats, Matthew M. Heaton, discusses three different
examples of psychiatric care in post colonial Nigeria. One of these is an medical
affliction that became known as a culture bound syndrome, that of Brain Fag
Syndrome (BFS). BFS, was an ailment that would only found within Nigerian
students in settings of higher education, that was thought to have been caused by an
overstressing of the brain (p. 121 122). While the more recent scholarship has called
the nature of all culture bound syndromes into question, Heaton describes how for
BFS it was believed that, the elements in the indigenous cultures were responsible in
some was for the seemingly localized natures of these disorders (p. 121). BFS is a

One of these is what the author calls, confessional technologies, inspired by the
community groups seen within North America and Europe. This relates to the
processes used to try and get people, specifically HIV positive individuals, to speak
openly about their diagnosis. This was commonly seen through the use of
workshops, that would bring people together and attempt to create a supportive
environment in which people would feel comfortable sharing their story. Nguyen
describes how the workshops were critical sites of interaction between local
volunteers and international consultants who otherwise spent the rest of their time
holed up in five star hotels (p.38). One of the unseen effects was in the effect that
this system would have on the existing kinship system. As people who were more
vocal had a greater chance at receiving the live saving medicine they needed, the
confessional technologies disrupted existing moral economies that had linked
disclosure, trust, and social belonging (p. 33). Nguyen used this process to illustrate
how the successes of one system of care may not always be able to seamlessly be
used within another culture without local

Eritrea, a small country in the Horn of Africa, has been labeled the North Korea of
Africa. Eritrea is a relatively new country that gained its independence in 1993 after a
30 year war with its neighboring country Ethiopia (Stevis and Parkinson, WSJ).
Disputes over the border, however, continued until 1998 and tensions prevail to this
day. The Eritrean government prohibits its citizens from leaving the country and
military conscription is mandatory for both male and female youths starting at the
age of 18. Today, unaccompanied Eritrean minors are leaving the totalitarian state in
massive numbers. In fact, unaccompanied Eritrean minors constitute one of the main

Keetharuth states that ...Eritrea s military/national service programmes include
arbitrary and indefinite duration, often for years beyond the 18 months set out in the
law; their involuntary nature; the use of conscripts as forced labour, including
manual labour; the inhumane conditions of service; the rape and torture often
associated with these military/national service programmes... (Keetharuth October
2016, p.1). Another factor, in addition to evading military conscription, that forces
unaccompanied minors to leave Eritrea is the high levels of poverty. Many Eritrean
minors suffer starvation level poverty and their living conditions are exacerbated by
ineffective government economic policies, a recent example would be the Eritrean
government s introduction of new currencies in 2015 and restrictions on cash flow.
These two factors have lead to massive numbers of unaccompanied Eritrean minors
to leave the country. Unaccompanied minors are those who are separated from their
families and travel alone outside of their country. Unaccompanied Eritrean minors
who lack adult supervision are extremely vulnerable and at high risk of abuse and
sex trafficking when making the journey to Europe. Eritrean minors who desert their
military duty or those near the age of conscription are even more vulnerable because
of the government s shoot to kill border policy. In

White settlers were also affected by the creation of the Dawes Act. However, unlike
their Native American counterparts, they greatly benefited from it. White settlers
gained a massive amount of tribal land, which they used for agriculture.

The Dawes Act is divided into eleven different sections. Section one of the Dawes
Act allowed for the authorization of the president to survey and divide up the Native

Some people thought that the act was a good thing and that it would free the
Native American people from the constrictions of the tribes. They thought that it

people who thought the Dawes Act was a good thing simply because it allowed for
white settlers to gain access to more land to farm on, generating more money for the
U.S. economy. However, there were people who thought that what the Act was
doing was morally wrong and created out of greed. The Native American population

Branches Of Government And What They Do
3 Branches Research Paper
In this paper I m going to explain to you the branches of government and what they
do and how they function.
To begin, The Separation of powers plays a role in the branches of government in
which it helps it run smoothly, no one gets too much of power, and everyone is
responsible for their job. Now I ll start with the legislative branch. The legislative
branch is the branch of government that has the power to make the laws, it is also
made up of two houses, the Senate, which are made of a hundred people, two from
each state, and they also they to be at least thirty years old, and House of
Representatives. The senate must also be a citizen for six years, a citizen for nine,
and they have to live in the state her or she represents. The laws they make are
written and voted for in congress. They also set apart the funds from the
government. The House of representatives is another huge role, they are made up
of four hundred and thirty five member and at least one of those are from each
state. They are also elected by the people. They have to be at least twenty five
years old, be a citizen for seven years, and they serve a two year term. Now I ll
explain they wat the legislative branch checks other branches. The way the legislative
branch checks other branches is if they receive enough votes, the legislative branch
can overrule the executive branches veto, and that bill will become a law. After that
law is set, the people will test it through the court
How Did Theodore Roosevelt Save The Environment
How and Why Theodore Roosevelt Saved the Environment
Common folklore says that the Teddy Bear toy is named after Theodore Roosevelt.
Rumor has it that he saved a young bear in the wild, and thus gave the cute and
cuddly toy a name. (Donna, 1) This is a great example of one of the most popular
aspects of Theodore Roosevelt s personality: his love for nature and the environment.
But what really got Roosevelt interested in the environmental concerns of the nation?
Theodore Roosevelt s lifelong love of nature that was sprouted in childhood, was
strengthened due to his time in Dakota, and brought his attention to the
environmental issues that led to his involvement and achievements in
environmentalism.

Battery Essay
Literary review:
1.1 What is a Battery?
A battery is defined as being an electrochemical cell that has the ability to turn
chemical energy into electrical energy. All batteries contain an anode, cathode,
electrolyte and a separator. The difference between distinct types of batteries are
the materials used as the electrodes and electrolyte. There are two types of battery
categories in which all batteries can fall under, the primary battery which is a single
use battery cell and the secondary battery cell which can be recharged and used
numerous times.1 Secondary batteries especially the lithium ion battery (LIB) have
successfully taken over the electronics market in the last two decades. LIBs power
everyday items such as laptops, smartphones and numerous other gadgets that are
used in our daily lives.2
1.2. Reduction/Oxidation:
A Battery operates through electrochemical reactions called oxidation and reduction
reactions also known as redox reactions. Redox reactions refer to the exchange of
electrons between chemical species. Oxidation occurs ... Show more content on

In both kinds of electrochemical cells, the anode is the electrode at which the
oxidation half reaction occurs, and the cathode is the electrode at which the
reduction half reaction occurs. The main difference between an electrolytic cell and
a galvanic cell is that a Galvanic cell converts chemical energy into electrical energy.
An electrolytic cell converts electrical energy into chemical energy. Galvanic cells
are driven by spontaneous chemical reactions that produce an electric current through
an outside current. This means that the chemical energy that is released by
spontaneous redox reactions is converted into electrical energy. Electrolytic cells do
the reverse by driving a non spontaneous redox reaction by way of converting
electrical energy into chemical energy by reversing the electron flow to that of the
spontaneous flow of the galvanic

published in 1997 by Farrar, Straus and Giroux in New York and later republished in
2012 as paperback by the same publisher. It currently goes for around $12 in many

Fadiman during her time with a Hmong refugee family who immigrated to United

medical culture. Throughout human history culture has always been a source of
unification and alienation, we see this in Fadiman book in the form of medical

Hyperbole Twelfth Night
The play Twelfth Night by William Shakespeare conveys the way love occurs in
different forms. Twelfth Night is set in the fictional coastal European town of
Illyria. The story begins when Viola, finds herself on the coast of Illyria after a
shipwreck. Viola disguises herself as Cesario and gains a position working for Duke
Orsino, who is deeply in lovewith Olivia. Olivia refuses his love and falls in love
with his messenger, Cesario. Orsino s and Olivia s love is selfish and persistent
towards Olivia and Cesario respectively. Viola is in love with Orsino but cannot
express it because she would have to break her disguise. After Antonio rescues
Sebastian from the shipwreck, he falls in love with him, but must conceal his love the
homosexual relationship would be unacceptable. These ideas are portrayed through
use of hyperbole, soliloquy, dramatic irony, aside and parallel plots. The techniques
prompt the viewer to apply the situation to their own life by extracting personal
morals from the text.
Selfish love is felt by both Orsino and Olivia for the majority of this script. Neither
characters begin to consider that the one they love may not reciprocate the
emotion and they continue to force their love in a place where it will not succeed.
Duke Orsino believes that the love he feels for Olivia is stronger than any love
ever felt before and states this when saying. He is vain to the extent that he
believes that Olivia s heart only be fulfilled with These sovereign thrones, are all
supplied, and filled/Her sweet perfections with one self king (I.i.37 38). Shakespeare
uses hyperbole in Orsino s lines to display how extreme, dramatic and passionate his
love is to the reader. Twelfth Nightbegins with Duke Orsino performing a soliloquy
which uses hyperbole to portray to the audience his narcissistic and intense
personality. Olivia possesses a similar emotion but towards Cesario. She has
previously hinted her love to Cesario time and time again. When she openly
confesses her love, Cesario states that no woman will hold his heart. Olivia expects
that Cesario will convince himself to love her when saying, thou perhaps mayst move
/That heart, which now abhors, to like his love (III.i.153 154). The technique mostly

Research and Development and Financial Performance of UK Manufacturing Firms
UK manufacturing firms have many factors which influence their financial
performance. Research and Development could be a key factor in determining a
firms success, however it does not assure financial improvement in all businesses due
to the extensive variety of business types. Research and Development can be defined
as the scientific investigation necessary to discover new products and the process of
bringing these products onto the market. A manufacturing firm, which generally
refers to a business that makes or processes raw or semi processed materials into
either a finished product or further processed materials, by ... Show more content on

However, Research and Development can also be used by small shops and retailers,
by means of questionnaires, staff suggestion boxes, feedback forms and market
research etc.. This low amount of Research and Development is typically normal, as
small shops rely more on customer service, niche markets, and reasonable quality and
price products.
Research and Development can often be a very risky process, since much money can
be spent on ideas that will never be commercialised. In product oriented firms, such as
manufacturing companies have many factors which affect their financial
performance. Research and Development is a useful way of improving profits, if
there is significant funding, to employ scientists and researchers to produce and
develop the most technically advanced products to date, which can then be marketed
and turned into cash cows or stars. Also Research and Development could develop
new methods to produce existing products, to lower average costs. However this
depends on the skill of the scientists and researchers, because despite how much
money is pumped into the Research and Development department, without ideas,
invention and innovation the business will have no rewards. Furthermore, even if
Research and Development does
its job, this will be worthless if the manufacturing firm has too specialised equipment,
which is unable to be flexible enough to
The Importance Of The Interpersonal Nature Of Teaching...
Teaching students is a complex profession comprised of its unique ethical elements
to consider. One area for consideration is the interpersonal nature of teaching as it
relates to favoritism and fairness. Imagine the first day of class of all your students
two, in particular, Sam and Tom, you already determined you connect with one
while the other you do not like. Sam, you think has so much potential and promise
even though you have heard he is a bit slow, does not turn in his work, and is very
squarely to his previous teacher, but you connect with him immediately. As the
week s progress, your initial judgment was accurate, as Sam tries hard to do his
best. So you grade his work more leniently and call on him quite often to give him
every opportunity to answer questions during group learning. In contrast, your top
student, Tom, you just do not like, even though he is respectful, smart, and often
raises his hand excitedly to answer questions, plus his assignments are done
exceptionally well. Thus, you make more of an effort to grade his work harder than
you do other students in the class including Sam. Furthermore, you seat him at the
desk that is not in your direct line of sight thus being able to avoid calling on him
without making it apparent. You are not trying to be mean, but Sam has just won a
soft spot in your heart. This example is an issue of favoritism and as such become an
ethical issue interpersonally within your classroom. As an instructor, these behaviors
if not recognized have detrimental effects on students and the classroom
environment. Therefore, it is imperative to avoid practicing favoritism as in impairs
our ability to maintain fairness in how we interact, engage and assess students. All
of which, are behaviors leading to unethical practices and if recognized are avoidable.
The author will investigate why the practice of favoritism is unethical by identifying
favoritism, explaining how and why it occurs and introduce actions that will assist in
avoiding this practice in the classroom from an ethical and biblical perspective. First,
acts of favoritism run along the continuum of subtle nonverbal behaviors to always
choose the same students to answer questions which are more apparent to
Basil Vs Blackwood
In The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes by Sir Arthur Conan doyle, Holmes says, It
is a wicked world, and when a clever man turns his brain to crime it is the worst of
all. This quote is a very accurate representation of exactly who Holmes is. He is a
regular detective that has transformed the way crimes are solved through his
intelligence and thinking. For this time period, this was unheard of which made it
difficult for criminals. The film the Great Mouse Detective is a tuned down version
of the film, Sherlock Holmeswhich was meant to introduce a younger audience to
mystery and detective work so they can learn the difference between right and wrong.
In the films The Great Mouse Detective and Sherlock Holmes, there is a case being
worked on which the character Sherlock Holmes or Sir Basil is trying to solve. In
both films, professor Moriarty or Rattigan is the criminal mastermind which is
Sherlock Holmes main enemy. He is depicted quite a bit differently but he plays a
key role in both films. Professor Moriarty and Rattigan both plot out what happens in
the films and are the underlying factor to what happens. While both characters play a

Model Of A Soup Pan
What do you think of when you hear pre 1950 s music? Do think of Frank Sinatra?
Ella Fitzgerald? T Bone Walker? Well a thing all three of them have in common is
that they influenced and were influenced by the culture at the time. A great model
that can represent the culture changing at the time is my model of a souppan. The
soup pan is not perfect by any means, as in my opinion it is impossible to perfectly
show how American culturechanged throughout the 1900 s. One way a soup pan
represents cultural changeis how sub or fringe culture can be added to the overall
culture. The soup changes as society adds ingredients to it. If we add a carrot and
onion to a tomato soup, it is not really tomato soup anymore. It is. . .tomatonionarrt

For example like how classical music does not really affect today s music, classical
music had been strained out of the pot and pushed aside. Classical music is still
there however, some people might not want the soup, maybe they want to go over
to the raw ingredients and eat them. They would be weird, but they can. Another
idea that supports this model is that when new generations are born they might not
like the soup being made so they slowly while mom and dad are not watching
change the soup slightly to fit their palate. As social politics progressed some of
the music that was rooted in either racism or misogyny. The new generation of
people changed the definition of how to be popular. Out went the old fashioned
older white man classical musicians and in came the younger more diverse group
of singers like Ella Fitzgerald. Fitzgerald would not of been able to be popular/as
popular if not for the progression of the United State s social society. White society
started to recognize African Americans as people and not as animals or property .
Society picked out the ingredients they did not like from the soup and tossed them
out while the older generation was

Causes Of Water Scarcity
The Global Water Institute stated that approximately 700 million people in 43
countries are currently suffering from water stress and scarcity in 2013 , by 2025
2.8 billion people will face water stress and scarcity (Hameeteman, 2013, p.3). The
global water supply is approximately 2.5% freshwater and 97.5% is saltwater
(Hameeteman, 2013, p.4). Hence, it is crucial that the Earth s population tries to
manage the water stress and scarcity. There are many causes of water stress and
scarcity, for instance: overuse of water due to economic reasons, pollution of water,
drought, governmental access and policies, and many more. In Africa, many children
and women are responsible in collecting water, thus, traveling large distances to
collect clean or unclean water. In addition, sanitationfacilities are inadequate causing
half the population to suffer from waterborne diseases (Hameeteman, 2013, p.6). As
a result, unclean water and poor sanitation are a leading cause of illness and death in
this region. There are a few approaches to providing clean water to the African
population, for example: piped water, stand posts and wells. Moreover, poor
sanitation can be alleviated with pit latrines, urine diversion dry toilets and pour flush
toilets (Septien, 2015). However, such methods can be expensive. Hence, it is
important to understand the household s income and the economic situation of the
country. Contrary, different strategies are needed to provide clean water in the

New Criticism In Forgiving My Father Poem By Lucille

The Analysis of New Criticism in Forgiving My Father Poem by Lucille Clifton
There are many literary works that have been created by the authors with different
types and different genres of literary works. Literary works itself never separated
from the elements that contained in it that help to build the story of literary work
itself. There are 2 elements in a literary work; intrinsic element and extrinsic element.
Intrinsic element itself is elements that make up a work of literature in the form
structure are like a literary elements found in the intrinsic elements. Yet, this paper
will focus only on intrinsic element especially in a poem.
The poem, if it be a true poem is a simulacrum of reality in this sense; at least, it is
an imitation by being an experience rather than any mere statement about experience
or any mere abstraction from experience (Brooks, 1947). In this case, the poem was
created based on the experiences in which there is a unity of the poem itself, ... Show

According to I. A. Richards, irony is characteristic of poetry of the highest order, as it
brings in the opposite, complementary impulses, in order to achieve a balanced
poise . (Richards, 1924). Irony itself refers to the statement that has the opposite
meaning from what it written or expected. In the Lucile Clifton s poem entitled
Forgiving My Father , it can be found the irony inside it. The irony of the poem
appears in the second stanza. The irony is seen from the way she talks to her
father, for example, there is no more time for you. There will never be time enough
daddy, daddy, old lecher old liar (Clifton, 1969). The sentences in the second stanza
express anger, irony and hatred of the daughter toward her father. It can be seen
from the words old lecher and old liar that she really hates her father, and it show
that her father is not a good role man for her. The second stanza explain how the

Those two factors add cost, complexity, and frequently risk. Many companies early
in their offshoring evolution find that managing this new set of skills and capability
requirements is extremely challenging. Often, savings expected from the global
sourcing initiatives fail to materialize, at least in part. SCDigest, for example,
recently profiled a consumer hardware company that illustrates this reality1. Under
pressure from major big box retailers for lower prices, the company is in the process
of moving much of its manufacturing capacity to China and other low cost country
sources. To this point, however, the expected savings from offshoring have not
materialized. The company is just starting to analyze the factors, with no clear
answers yet, other than a belief that there were many hidden costs that were not fully
anticipated. This is a scenario that we hear on a consistent basis. In fact, a recent
survey from McKinsey and the U.S. Chamber of Commerce of Western companies
importing product from China found that the majority of respondents believed they
were behind their competitors in such areas as total landed cost savings from
offshoring, on time delivery, and other key supply chain metrics (see illustration
below)2. Considering that generally companies tend to over rate their performance
versus others, this data is a powerful statement of the challenges of doing global

Data Protection Act (1998) made provision for the regulation of the processing of
information relating to individuals, including the obtaining, holding, use or
disclosure of such information. It was amended in 2003 to include electronic data.
Protection of Children Act (POCA) (1999) was designed to protect children. It gives
responsibility to Local Authorities to make enquiries when anyone contacts them with
concerns about child abuse.
Safeguarding Vulnerable Groups Act (2006) introduced a vetting and barring scheme
to make decision about who should be barred from working with children and
vulnerable adults. Teachers may need to have a Criminal Records Bureau (CRB)
Equality Act (2010) replaced all previous anti discrimination legislation and
consolidated in into one act (England, Scotland and Wales). It provides rights for
the people not to be discriminated against or harassed because they have an
association with a disabled person or because they were wrongly perceived as
disabled.
Health and Safety at Work 1974 imposes all staff within an organisation

Positive Effects Of The Spanish Conquest
The Spanish Conquest impacted the Aztec society s beliefs and way of life. The
Aztec empire was a wealthy and a well organized society. It was an empire that
people from Europe had never seen before. There are many mixed feelings about
the impact of the Spaniards in the new world. Some experts view it as negative and
others believed there were many positive results of this conquest. Regardless if we
agree whether the conquest was positive or negative, there is no doubt that the
Spanish conquest was the beginning of the end for the Aztecempire. An empire that
had their own set of beliefs filled with exotic mythology and legends.
The capital of the Aztec empire, Tenochtitlan, and what is known today as Mexico
City was conquered in 1521 by the Spanish explorer named Hernando Cortez.
Cortez was born Medellin, Spain in 1485. He was the only son of a noble family
and his father was a captain in the Spanish army. He was fascinated with
Christopher Columbus journeys in the new world. This was a far cry from his
parents wish for him to be lawyer. Before reaching the Yucatan Peninsula in
Mexico, Cortes along with Diego Velazquez, were powerful figures in the island of
Cuba. Their partnership soon ended when Cortes went against Velasquez s wishes
to marry his sister and sailed to the mainland of Mexico against his orders. On 1519
Cortez reached the harbor of central Veracruz ( True Cross ). He arrived with 11
ships, 15 horses and a fleet of 500 men in search for gold. Cortes soon learned that
the land was ruled by the great Aztec lord in the city of TenochtitlГЎn: King
Monezuma II.
The Aztecs had many beliefs that were based on the end of the world and nature.
The Aztec religion focused on keeping a balance in nature. They believed that one
mistake could lead to a natural disaster or could cause the sun to stop rotating.
Among the many hundreds of gods that the Aztecs adored, there was a particularly
interesting god that stood out from the rest. This god was Quetzalcoatl, otherwise
knows as the Feathered Serpent . According to legend Quetzalcoatl created all
humans with his own blood. The Aztecs believed that they needed to repay
Quetzalcoatl and all the gods for their sacrifice by performing rituals. In
Annabel Lee By Edgar Allan Poe
There is nothing in this world more satisfying than finding your life s partner or
your ultimate true love, but having to lose someone so special to you is
indescribably the worst feeling ever. In Edgar Allan Poe s poem Annabel Lee , the
author describes himself as a child who falls in love with a young woman named
Annabel Lee. Living In a kingdom by the sea (Poe Line 2), he and Annabel Lee
seem to be extremely happy and their love is quite intense. In fact, because of how
strong their love is for each other, Annabel Lee is murdered by the winged seraphs
of Heaven (Line 11) who have sent a wind that chills Annabel Lee to her death.
Devastated, the author refuses to give up on their love, believing that their souls are
intertwined and in order to show his unconditional love for her, he dreams of her and
sleeps next to her in her tomb every night. To maintain his claim that physical death
holds no dominion over love Poe uses theme, imagery/repetition, and symbolism
throughout the poem.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Falling in love In a kingdom by the sea (Line 8), the love of the author and Annabel
Lee is challenged by Annabel s death. The author strongly believes that their souls
are inseparable and that death isn t going to separate him from his love. He loves
her so much that he still sees her in his dreams and even sleeps with her in her tomb
every night. As love is presented throughout the poem, we sense a little envy as well.
The love between the author and Annabel Lee is so strong that the winged seraphs
of Heaven (Line 11) envy it and murder Annabel Lee. The extent of the seraphs envy
of the love between the two is shown in the poem when the author
Mixing Methanol Lab Report
The purpose of mixing methanol and the catalyst (NaOH) is to react the two
substances to form Methoxide. The amount of Methanol used should be 20% of
the volume of the oil NaOH does not readily dissolve into Methanol. It is best to
turn on the mixer to begin agitating the Methanol and slowly pour the NaOH in.
When particles of NaOH cannot be seen, the Methoxide is ready to be added to the
oil. This can usually be achieved in 20 30 minutes Step 3: Draining of Glycerol After
the transesterification reaction, one must wait for the glycerol to settle to the bottom
of the container. This happens because Glycerol is heavier then biodiesel (Onkar
S.Tyagi et al. 2010). The settling will begin immediately, but the mixture should be

Mucus Essay
Lubricating and protective properties of mucus and its importance in the
gastrointestinal tract
Mucus is a thick secretion made up of water, electrolytes, and a mixture of several
glycoproteins. The Glycoproteins are made up of large polysaccharides which are
bound with much smaller quantities of protein.
Mucus is slightly different in different parts of the gastrointestinal tract. It has
numerous important characteristics applicable everywhere that make it both a superb
lubricant and a protectant for the wall of the gut. These are as follows:
1.It has adherent qualities it adheres tightly to the food or other particles to spread as
a thin film over the surfaces.
2.It has sufficient body the wall of the gut is coated by the mucus and ... Show more

It causes fecal particles to adhere to one another to form the fecal masses that are
excreted during a bowel movement.
5.It can t be easily digested by the gastrointestinal enzymes (very strong resistance).
6.The glycoproteins of mucus have amphoteric properties (they are capable of
buffering small amounts of either acids or alkalies) and mucus regularly contains
moderate amounts of bicarbonate ions, which particularly neutralise acids.
Mucus allows easy slippage of food along the gastrointestinal tract and to prevent
abrasive or chemical damage to the epithelium. When the salivary glands does not
secrete saliva you very quickly become aware of the lubricating qualities of mucus,
as it is then difficult to swallow solid food even when it is eaten while drinking large
amounts of water.
Lubricating and protective properties of mucus and its importance in other parts of
the body
The mucus secreted by the epithelial cells within the linings of the respiratory and
upper gastrointestinal tracts also contains antimicrobial chemicals. As mucus is
sticky, particles that stick to it are prevented from entering the blood. In the upper
respiratory tract they are swept by ciliary action up into the pharynx and then
swallowed, or are phagocytosed by macrophages in the various
Exploring the Ontological Argument
Exploring the Ontological Argument For nearly a thousand years, the ontological
argument has captured the attention of philosophers. The ontological argument was
revolutionary in its sequence from thought to reality. It was an argument that did not
require any corresponding experiment in reality; it functioned without the necessity
of empirical data. Despite flaws and problems found in some ontological arguments
and the objections raised to those arguments, ontological arguments still provide a
phenomenal vehicle for ontological discussion through St. Anselm s original ideas
and argument, objections raised, and revisions of previous arguments. The
ontological argumentstill intrigues philosophers despite potential objections and flaws

258). It does not matter who or what that Greatest Conceivable Being is identified
as; anyone and everyone can have an idea of that being. The third premise works
off of the idea that it is greater for something to exist in reality than simply as an
idea in our minds (Cowan Spiegel, 2009, p. 258). The idea is that existence is a
quality that can make something greater than something equal in all aspects except
for existence. A red balloon in my mind would not be as great as a red balloon that
actually exists. So, in order for the Greatest Conceivable Being to actually be the
greatest, it needs to exist in reality. The fourth premise says that if God, or the
Greatest Conceivable Being, was only an idea in the mind, then he would not be
as great as he could be because he did not exist in reality. So, if God does not exist
in reality, then we would be able to imagine or conceive a being greater than him.
The fifth premise ties back in to the first: God, by definition, is the Greatest
Conceivable Being. If he did not exist, then he would not be the Greatest
Conceivable Being. There would be a being that is greater. However, it would be self
contradictory to say that there would be a being greater than the Greatest
Conceivable Being (Himma, n.d., para. 1). If something is the greatest, there cannot
be something greater. The sixth premise brings the argument to a conclusion: if the
Greatest Conceivable Being is the greatest, that

  • 4. Dangerous Liaisons By Claudia Moscovici Nakia was in a relationship with a psychopath. A person with a psychopathic personality lacks the ability to love or establish meaningful relationships. A psychopath is a predator who pretends to love you in order to lure you into his deadly game of power, control, and manipulation. The man who Nakia thought was her knight in shining armor turned out to be a nightmare. Throughout their relationship, he emotionally abused her, held a gun to her head, criticized her weight, made false accusations, cheated, called her names, and physically assaulted her during pregnancy. A psychopath seeks to destroy your self worth and self esteem through cruel and methodical mind manipulation. In her book, Dangerous Liaisons: How to Recognize and Escape from Psychopathic Seduction, Claudia Moscovici writes about psychopaths and how they seduce women. She reveals the process of psychopathic seduction: Idealize, Devalue, and Discard. Let s examine Nakia s abusive relationship using the Idealize, Devalue, and Discard phases, so we can observe how a psychopath operates. 1.Idealization Phase During the Idealization Phase the predator lures you in with the promise of love He s a charmer, seducing you with sweet whispers so you can t see him for who he really is: a cold blooded slithering snake waiting to sink his fangs into your self esteem and feed off your soul Nakia says during the honeymoon phase of their relationship, her abuser was charming, chivalrous, and romantic. • 8. Symbolism, And Personification In Thanatopsis By William... In the poem Thanatopsis by William Cullen Bryant, he uses many literary devices such as personification, symbol, and simile to reveal the meaning of the work. The meaning of the poem is most easily stated that, people should approach death pleasantly. With each device Bryant uses, he intricately places them in the writing as well as has them frame the poem. This is what makes Thanatopsis so easy to understand even though the author is using such cultured ideas. His ability to portray the meaning through these devices shows the sophistication of his writing as well as his thoughts. By using these literary devices, the audience better comprehends how vital it is to learn the meaning. Bryant uses personification throughout the whole poem with the use of nature to help the audience s minds comprehend the goal of the writing. The poem gives a lady the role of Nature and She has a voice of gladness, and a smile And eloquence of beauty; and she glides Into darker musings, with a mild And healing sympathy that steals away (4 7). This quote is demonstrating that the lady glides into the sad thoughts of dying people and brightens them up. Also, to let them know that she is there to support them when they are afraid of death. By giving Nature a personality it makes the poem more relatable and comforting which works with the meaning of a pleasant death. Bryant uses Nature to calm our worries of death. TERM REPROT SNAPSHOT ISOLATION Abstract: This paper mainly describes about the snapshot isolation and there validation steps for update transactions and serializability issues of snapshot isolation. To maintain more than one version of a data items it can possible to permit a single transaction to read an existing version of a data item rather than the more update version created by an uncommitted transaction or by a transaction that ought to come later in serialization order. To obtain this there are different types of multi version concurrency control techniques one of those techniques which widely used in the real world is snapshot isolation. It has been used by major database management system to obtain high throughput. It also provides better performance than the serialzability so it s gained wide acceptance in commercial and open source systems such as Oracle, SQL, PostgreSQL, Interbase, Firebird. Introduction: Snapshot isolation is a multi version concurrency control that is very popular and intensely utilized. The snapshot isolation technique was first introduced by the critique of ANSI isolation levels in a paper in 1995. The work on multi version concurrency control which derived snapshot isolation. Sitting in the back of our mini van with my brother watching Scooby Doo is one of the best memories I have. As my brother and I got older, we started taking bigger trips. The first big trip my family took was to Disney World, I can still remember the feeling of feeling the plane s wheels take off the ground. Since then, I have always craved that feeling. Traveling became something that my family did every year, and every year I looked forward to the week spent just with my family. My parents have always dreamt about taking my brother and I to Europe. After searching for the perfect vacation, my mom decided on a 20 day toured trip to Italy, France, Switzerland, and The United Kingdom. I was ecstatic, since I had been young I had always wanted to go to Paris, and now I got to experience all of these other countries as well. The day finally came for us to leave on this European adventure. We were all packed up and heading for our first flight to O Hare International Airport. We boarded our international plane ready to take on the thirteen hour flight that was ahead of us. The next morning we arrived at our first destination thousands of miles from home, we were finally in Rome. The country of grandiose influence and excessive wealth, that we have come to know during our lifetimes, actually had quite humble beginnings. At a time when most of us are used to having most countries come to the US to inquire for help and assistance, we may not be all too aware that our own country was once asking for assistance as well. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The notion that we do not need foreign policy, or that it is an antiquated concept is greatly misleading. In fact, we need a strong foreign policy now more than ever. We are living at a time when the world s geographical divides are shrinking due to ever increasing advancements in communication, technology, trade, and a strong global economic interdependence. Even though the notion that we are somehow economically dependent upon other countries is not something new for the US, we still see a strong indifference to foreign policy. In order to understand the problems, let us take a step back and examine the history of US foreign policy. For the most of the twentieth century we have defined our foreign policy in regards to our competition with the Soviet Union up until the end of the Cold War. Even though we never directly went to war with the Soviet Union, we were still engaged in a race to the top. However, once the Soviet Union collapsed, we saw a drastic change and a shifting away from foreign policy towards domestic policy. It was not until 9/11 that we have started to focus our attention back again towards foreign policy. In other instances, throughout the history of the US, we have always been dependent upon other nations. Mead and Kaufman gives us thorough history lessons on our economic interdependence or even co dependence with other nations during our formative years as a nation. We would not be the nation that we are today if it was not
  • 13. The Use Of Roundup, A Major Concern For The American People Autism, a disease that increased alongside the growing use of Roundup, is a major concern for the American people. The United States has the highest rate in Autism in the world. Glyphosate again plays a major role in the large amount of cases. This was proven by a study conducted by Dr. Huber, a professor emeritus from Purdue University. Dr. Huber tested on rats being fed non GMO then switched to GMO feed. At the beginning of the study when the rats were being fed organically made food were very passive and friendly but after a month of being fed GM food they became easily irritated and would not get along with one another. This proved that the psychological and behavioral well being of rats was affected by their food and they showed similar symptoms and behaviors to those diagnosed with Autism. In figure 1, the correlation between the increase of glyphosate and Autism is very clear. If America wants to decrease the amount of cases of Autism per year, the ban of GMOs would be very beneficial. It would also promote a healthier diet as organic food would increase in number and lower in price. Due to the mass production of cheap corn and soy in America, other food industries that produce healthier fruits and vegetables decrease in number. Importing healthy fruits and vegetables from other countries is unnecessarily expensive and that raises the prices of healthy foods in the market, which discourages many lower class families from eating the recommended daily fruit and

Most people do not think about the resources it took to produce, transport, and prepare the food they throw away. Our food waste is not actually just trash; it is the key to human survival. Ordinary consumers can change the future with one small action: to stop wasting food. Actions at the individual level can decrease food waste and feed those in need. Twenty five percent of purchased food is thrown away. (TED) Often this is because food has spoiled, but it can be for other reasons such as oversupply, misread labels, or individual consumer shopping and eating habits. http://www.fao.org/docrep/018/i3347e/i3347e.pdf Food insecurity can be defined as the inability to acquire an adequate quality or sufficient quantity of food in socially acceptable ways or the uncertainty that one will be able to do so. One in six Americans are food insecure. There are five components of food security, including quantity, quality, suitability, psychological, and social factors. Food insecurity can occur for a variety of reasons, the main one being poverty. Decreasing the amount of food wasted has the ability to feed millions of these Americans. Food loss refers to a decrease in mass, nutritional value, or quality of food that was originally intended for human consumption. These losses are caused by shrinkage from cooking, loss from mold, pests, or inadequate

This relates to the processes used to try and get people, specifically HIV positive individuals, to speak openly about their diagnosis. Nguyen describes how the workshops were critical sites of interaction between local volunteers and international consultants who otherwise spent the rest of their time holed up in five star hotels (p.38). One of the unseen effects was in the effect that this system would have on the existing kinship system. As people who were more vocal had a greater chance at receiving the live saving medicine they needed, the confessional technologies disrupted existing moral economies that had linked disclosure, trust, and social belonging (p. 33). To begin, The Separation of powers plays a role in the branches of government in which it helps it run smoothly, no one gets too much of power, and everyone is responsible for their job. The senate must also be a citizen for six years, a citizen for nine, and they have to live in the state her or she represents. The laws they make are written and voted for in congress. • 28. Hyperbole Twelfth Night The play Twelfth Night by William Shakespeare conveys the way love occurs in different forms. Twelfth Night is set in the fictional coastal European town of Illyria. The story begins when Viola, finds herself on the coast of Illyria after a shipwreck. Viola disguises herself as Cesario and gains a position working for Duke Orsino, who is deeply in lovewith Olivia. Olivia refuses his love and falls in love with his messenger, Cesario. Orsino s and Olivia s love is selfish and persistent towards Olivia and Cesario respectively. Viola is in love with Orsino but cannot express it because she would have to break her disguise. After Antonio rescues Sebastian from the shipwreck, he falls in love with him, but must conceal his love the homosexual relationship would be unacceptable. These ideas are portrayed through use of hyperbole, soliloquy, dramatic irony, aside and parallel plots. The techniques prompt the viewer to apply the situation to their own life by extracting personal morals from the text. Selfish love is felt by both Orsino and Olivia for the majority of this script. Neither characters begin to consider that the one they love may not reciprocate the emotion and they continue to force their love in a place where it will not succeed. Duke Orsino believes that the love he feels for Olivia is stronger than any love ever felt before and states this when saying. He is vain to the extent that he believes that Olivia s heart only be fulfilled with These sovereign thrones, are all supplied, and filled/Her sweet perfections with one self king (I.i.37 38). Shakespeare uses hyperbole in Orsino s lines to display how extreme, dramatic and passionate his love is to the reader. Twelfth Nightbegins with Duke Orsino performing a soliloquy which uses hyperbole to portray to the audience his narcissistic and intense personality. Olivia possesses a similar emotion but towards Cesario. She has previously hinted her love to Cesario time and time again. When she openly confesses her love, Cesario states that no woman will hold his heart. Olivia expects that Cesario will convince himself to love her when saying, thou perhaps mayst move /That heart, which now abhors, to like his love (III.i.153 154). The technique mostly

However this depends on the skill of the scientists and researchers, because despite how much money is pumped into the Research and Development department, without ideas, invention and innovation the business will have no rewards. Furthermore, even if Research and Development does its job, this will be worthless if the manufacturing firm has too specialised equipment, which is unable to be flexible enough to
  • 31. The Importance Of The Interpersonal Nature Of Teaching... Teaching students is a complex profession comprised of its unique ethical elements to consider. One area for consideration is the interpersonal nature of teaching as it relates to favoritism and fairness. Imagine the first day of class of all your students two, in particular, Sam and Tom, you already determined you connect with one while the other you do not like. Sam, you think has so much potential and promise even though you have heard he is a bit slow, does not turn in his work, and is very squarely to his previous teacher, but you connect with him immediately. As the week s progress, your initial judgment was accurate, as Sam tries hard to do his best. So you grade his work more leniently and call on him quite often to give him every opportunity to answer questions during group learning. In contrast, your top student, Tom, you just do not like, even though he is respectful, smart, and often raises his hand excitedly to answer questions, plus his assignments are done exceptionally well. Thus, you make more of an effort to grade his work harder than you do other students in the class including Sam. Furthermore, you seat him at the desk that is not in your direct line of sight thus being able to avoid calling on him without making it apparent. You are not trying to be mean, but Sam has just won a soft spot in your heart. This example is an issue of favoritism and as such become an ethical issue interpersonally within your classroom. As an instructor, these behaviors if not recognized have detrimental effects on students and the classroom environment. Therefore, it is imperative to avoid practicing favoritism as in impairs our ability to maintain fairness in how we interact, engage and assess students. All of which, are behaviors leading to unethical practices and if recognized are avoidable. The author will investigate why the practice of favoritism is unethical by identifying favoritism, explaining how and why it occurs and introduce actions that will assist in avoiding this practice in the classroom from an ethical and biblical perspective. First, acts of favoritism run along the continuum of subtle nonverbal behaviors to always choose the same students to answer questions which are more apparent to

Many companies early in their offshoring evolution find that managing this new set of skills and capability requirements is extremely challenging. Often, savings expected from the global sourcing initiatives fail to materialize, at least in part. SCDigest, for example, recently profiled a consumer hardware company that illustrates this reality1. Under pressure from major big box retailers for lower prices, the company is in the process of moving much of its manufacturing capacity to China and other low cost country sources. To this point, however, the expected savings from offshoring have not materialized. The company is just starting to analyze the factors, with no clear answers yet, other than a belief that there were many hidden costs that were not fully anticipated. This is a scenario that we hear on a consistent basis. In fact, a recent survey from McKinsey and the U.S. Chamber of Commerce of Western companies importing product from China found that the majority of respondents believed they were behind their competitors in such areas as total landed cost savings from offshoring, on time delivery, and other key supply chain metrics (see illustration below)2. Considering that generally companies tend to over rate their performance versus others, this data is a powerful statement of the challenges of doing global supply chain

It was an empire that people from Europe had never seen before. There are many mixed feelings about the impact of the Spaniards in the new world. Some experts view it as negative and others believed there were many positive results of this conquest. Regardless if we agree whether the conquest was positive or negative, there is no doubt that the Spanish conquest was the beginning of the end for the Aztecempire. An empire that had their own set of beliefs filled with exotic mythology and legends. The capital of the Aztec empire, Tenochtitlan, and what is known today as Mexico City was conquered in 1521 by the Spanish explorer named Hernando Cortez. Cortez was born Medellin, Spain in 1485. He was the only son of a noble family and his father was a captain in the Spanish army. He was fascinated with Christopher Columbus journeys in the new world. This was a far cry from his parents wish for him to be lawyer. Before reaching the Yucatan Peninsula in Mexico, Cortes along with Diego Velazquez, were powerful figures in the island of Cuba. Their partnership soon ended when Cortes went against Velasquez s wishes to marry his sister and sailed to the mainland of Mexico against his orders. On 1519 Cortez reached the harbor of central Veracruz ( True Cross ). He arrived with 11 ships, 15 horses and a fleet of 500 men in search for gold. Cortes soon learned that the land was ruled by the great Aztec lord in the city of TenochtitlГЎn: King Monezuma II. The Aztecs had many beliefs that were based on the end of the world and nature. The Aztec religion focused on keeping a balance in nature. They believed that one mistake could lead to a natural disaster or could cause the sun to stop rotating. Among the many hundreds of gods that the Aztecs adored, there was a particularly interesting god that stood out from the rest. This god was Quetzalcoatl, otherwise knows as the Feathered Serpent . It does not matter who or what that Greatest Conceivable Being is identified as; anyone and everyone can have an idea of that being. The third premise works off of the idea that it is greater for something to exist in reality than simply as an idea in our minds (Cowan Spiegel, 2009, p. 258). The idea is that existence is a quality that can make something greater than something equal in all aspects except for existence. A red balloon in my mind would not be as great as a red balloon that actually exists. So, in order for the Greatest Conceivable Being to actually be the greatest, it needs to exist in reality. The fourth premise says that if God, or the Greatest Conceivable Being, was only an idea in the mind, then he would not be as great as he could be because he did not exist in reality. So, if God does not exist in reality, then we would be able to imagine or conceive a being greater than him. The fifth premise ties back in to the first: God, by definition, is the Greatest Conceivable Being. If he did not exist, then he would not be the Greatest Conceivable Being. There would be a being that is greater. However, it would be self contradictory to say that there would be a being greater than the Greatest Conceivable Being (Himma, n.d., para. 1). If something is the greatest, there cannot be something greater. The sixth premise brings the argument to a conclusion: if the Greatest Conceivable Being is the greatest, that
