The Importance Of The Battle Of Chancellorsville
The Battle of Chancellorsville was one the most important encounters between the Union and
the Confederates in what s known as the Chancellorsville Campaign. The Battle of
Chancellorsville began on April 30, 1863 in the rural Spotsylvania County, Virginia and ended 6
days later on May 6, 1863. The battle was a result of the Union trying to take control of the
Confederate capital, Richmond, Virginia. The Union had four previous attempts with the same
objective, but they were defeated every time. The Union s energy was low, so General Joseph
Hooker stepped in for Major General Ambrose Burnside. He planned to restore the troop s morale
and improve the soldier s efficiency. He fixed problems such as, the living conditions of the troops,
the food

Rethink Popular Culture
According to Rethinking Popular Culture and Media, popular culture is the Polaroid snapshot or
Facebook photo page that documents our lives in the social world; it is the backdrop of day to
day life. The role of web/technology provides all the shared popular culture experience. Children
are the targeted audience. Children ages 2 11 see at least 25,000 advertisements on TV alone, a
figure that does not include product placement. (Marshall, Sensoy, Para 3,2011) Whereas media of
previous generations may have referred to newspaper, magazines and books, today s media includes
an explosion of online/global networking systems (Twitter, Facebook, Bebo, YouTube). With
society having numerous ways to see and share popular culture, access through so many

Comparing Poems Industrialization And Soft Rains
We came into this world and started to take over nature which, in the past, ruled the world itself. In
the poems industrialization by Oni and Soft Rains by Sara Teasdale, they both share the message
that nature s cycles will forever go on regardless of technology through the use of syntax and
figurative language.
In industrialization Oni demonstrates the overall idea of human unimportance by using sentence
structure. what is a human/ but a cosmic spec/ of semi wanderlust... . The sentence structure of the
previous quote helps prove the theme of human unimportance because every line of the poem does
not have a complete sentence. The line but a cosmic spec not only is an extremely short line of the
poem, but also provokes how small ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
First, the third stanza the poem writes Robins will wear their feathery fire,/ Whistling their whims
on a low fence / Wire; . Alliteration is present in the lines that say feathery fire and whistling their
whims since they both use the same first letter as one another. This alliteration shows how nature
does not need humans in order for it to carry out its daily functions. Humans are not a necessary part
of life, the robins will still keep doing what they need to without the invasion of humans. In the last
stanza, the poem states And spring herself, when she woke at/ Dawn/ Would scarcely know that we
were gone. . This is an example of personification because it shows spring waking up and continuing
her routine which gives an inanimate object a human characteristic. This stanza also helps prove
the theme of the unimportance of humans since the quote is saying that spring arouse and did not
even notice the lack of existence of humans. The quotes above use figurative language to relate the
theme of human unimportance to nature carrying on its normal responsibility. Both show that
nature does not need human interference to continue with

Odysseus Is Not A Heroic Figure In Homer s Odyssey
In the epic poem the Odyssey by Homer, the main character Odysseus is lost on a island with a
goddess Calypso. Odysseus has to go through many obstacles to find his way back home. Some of
the things he has to do to get home hurts other people. Odysseus does things throughout his journey
that clearly show he is not a heroic figure. Odysseushas proven many times that he is not a heroic
figure. His actions convey that he is not heroic at all. Some of the reasons why Odysseus is not
heroic at all is because, he destroys people s homes, lies to his men, and cheats on his wife. One
of the reasons Odysseus is not a heroic figure is because he destroys people s homes. There are
many examples in the story when Odysseus has destroyed other people s home. For example, No

One example of when Odysseus lied to his men was when he didn t tell them about the things
Circe told him would happen. The crew being now silent before me, I addressed them, sore at
heart: Dear friends, more than one man, or two, should know those things Circe foresaw for us
and shared with me, so let me tell her forecast: then we die with our eyes open, if we are going to
die, or know what death we battle if we can (12. 1239, 1242). This proves that Odysseus did not
tell his men that Circe predicted trouble was coming there way. Voices came down to me in
anguish calling my name for the last time (12. 1342, 1343).This is what Odysseus said soon after
he just saw some of his men being eaten. He knew they would have a rough time getting home but
he didn t tell them. The consequences that his men experienced were not fair because they didn t
know what would happen. Odysseus is not heroic because his men were always loyal to him, but he
didn t tell them very important information, that costed them some of their

Stand And Deliver Themes
Stand and Deliver Relevancy Today The film Stand and Deliver follows math teacher Jaime
Escalante s determination to motivate underprivileged students and help them reach academic
excellence. At the end of this whole journey, the students are able to realize their full potential and
grow from the experience. There are several universal themes that the filmmaker is able to express
through the use of various impactful filmmaking techniques. I believe that the film s passion is still
relevant today, as the themes showcased throughout the film can very much be understood and
empathized with by a diverse range of students in modern times. One of the themes that stand out
the most in the film is the struggle to overcome adversity and push through problems in one s life
that could otherwise get in the way from achieving goals. In the film, many... Show more content on

In the film, various students are shown to be quite vocal about what they believe they cannot
accomplish, and this mainly revolves around Jaime Escalante s math class. Many students claim
that math is just not for them, that they do not understand it and are better off without it. The
filmmaker specifically shows this through a scene in the beginning of the film when Escalante asks
different students a simple question on a basic concept in math and given in return unsure answers.
The filmmaker gives close up shots of the students looking down at their desks, seemingly
unconfident in their own understanding of basic math. The students at first resist trying to take
math seriously, but with time Escalante eventually succeeds at sparking their interest and showing
them that they are capable of a lot more than they believe to be possible. Plenty of students today
deal with low self esteem and may even limit their own advancement and achievements simply
because they do not believe in

Advantages And Disadvantages Of SLN
NLC were idealized to overcome inherent disadvantages of SLN. Entrapping structure is a blend
of solid and liquid, spatially incompatible, lipids that confers distinct characteristics of NLC when
compared with other lipid NPs [80]. Indeed, since the matrix of the lipids composing the
nanostructured lipid carriers is more amorphous than for SLN, association efficiency is higher and
offers a slower release [81]. The nanodroplet of liquid lipid, containing most of the drug to entrap,
becomes dispersed within the solid lipid, granting a slower migration of drug to the outer phase
and, therefore, a higher entrapment that lasts longer.
It was suggested that using NLC to carry and delivery domperidone in the buccal cavity could lead
to a permeability ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In order to develop and optimize polymeric NPs as buccal delivery systems, Pistone et al. chose
chitosan, pectin and alginate as matrixpolymers and tripolyphosphate and zinc as negative and
positive counterions, respectively [90]. The polymer:counterion proportion was thoroughly studied
to achieve the most stable and suitable particles for buccal delivery. The stability was determined
by assessing nanoparticle aggregation and disintegration in contact with simulated salivary fluid,
along with the variation of polydispersity index, hydrodynamic diameter and zeta potential. It was
observed that alginate NPs presented good stability during 120 min in contact with artificial saliva
since some parameters did not significantly vary throughout of the course of the assay. Even
though the chelation of zinc ions would be expected due to the high content of phosphates in
artificial saliva, so it was suggested that the presence of calcium in the dispersion media prevented
the zinc chelation and maintained the structure of alginate NPs intact, as expected to occur in vivo
[91]. The size of pectin NPs significantly decreased (with consequent variation of polydispersity
index) after contact with artificial saliva, indicating either erosion and/or shrinking due to the
formation of additional cross linking with the ions present in the artificial saliva. The size

Tesco is multinational chain of supermarkets which was founded by Jack Cohen in 1919 and is
headquartered in Chestnut, UK. It is a public limited company (plc) which now operates in retailing,
petrol stations, and finance services. Tesco showed its expansionary zeal early on by buying up
rival shops. Tesco has shown aggressive strategies for expanding its operations. In the 1950s the
retailer bought 70 Williams stores and 200 Harrow stores, followed by 97 Charles Philips stores
and the Victor Value chain in the early 1960s. In 1961, Tesco Leicester entered the Guinness
Book of Records as the largest store in Europe and in 1968 Tesco opened its first superstore in
Crawley, West Sussex. Supermarkets revolutionised the way people shopped and by the 1970s
Tesco was building a national store network to cover the whole of the UK, which it continues to
expand to this day, while also diversifying into other products. Tesco was paced up with the
changing way of shopping and started its online shopping as well. Tesco then expanded in other
countries such as Scotland, Ireland, US and so on. Today, Tesco is the third largest retailer in the

Peace In The Middle East Rhetorical Analysis
Peace in the Middle East: A Speech on the Israel Palestine Conflict
Imagine a world where you were shot, your parents were arrested, and your home was spied on.
This is the everyday life of Palestinian girl Ahed Tamimi. According to her father, she and her
brother have been shot, her mother has been arrested five times, and he has been arrested nine
times. Their house is under a demolition order. All of this due to one thing: Israeli oppression of
Palestinian citizens. In reaction for Ahed s family being maltreated, in December, she slapped a
soldier which was live streamed on Facebook by her mother. She bruised the soldier s brow, and
caused no further harm. She was swiftly arrested by the Israeli government and left with 12 charges.

The conflict does affect us at home, and exposes parts of our own Nationalism. Although it has
seen the US s hypocrisy exposed, it also shows that the Two State plan that calls for Israeland
Palestine to exist side by side has been secretly opposed by the United States for a long while,
that information not coming to light until recently with President Trump embracing a One State
plan as well. When, in 2011, the Palestinian president put in a request to the United Nations for
membership, a step towards Palestine s true goal of acquiring stateship, the US was very vocal
about vetoing the decision if it managed to reach a decision in favour of Palestine. In the end, A
majority vote was not reached, but Palestine was upgraded to a non member observer state in a
vote of 138 9, with the United States being one of the few along with Israel. Despite saying that it
was a leading nation in facilitating peace between the two, and in 90 s actually being such, as soon
as the Bush administration took over things fell apart. The Palestinian president, a violence
objecting, peace willing man who was a frequent visitor to the White House, was labeled as a
terrorist by President Bush. Bush called for a new president, who was elected within a month. At
this point, the administration s machinations were revealed the Palestinian support was nothing more

Taking a Look at Zombie Ants
The stereotypical Zombie Ant , most typically found in a rain forest and or farm climate, are not
the flesh tearing type of zombie you most likely had in mind, instead, fungal spreading mind
controlled ants, taken over by a fungal parasite. And these ants, are far from usual. There is a
cycling, almost endless process, repeated in three stages. The process and fungusis called
Ophiocordyceps Unilateralis. During the first faze, the fungal parasite picked up by the target ant,
enters the ant s brain, by latching on to the skin, literally tearing its way through its cuticle, and
separating all inside muscle tissue. The fungus is picked up from the forest floor, in particles
dropped by another infected ant. This powerful overtaking fungus is known as. After the fungus has
entered the body, it starts to travel up into the head of the infected ant.
After the parasite has entered the brain, the zombification stage of the fungus inside the ant causes
the fungus to grow in the head and take over the mind, where the ant now goes through an
uncontrollable, helpless faze, where the fungus is present in the head, and now in charge of the
ant s mind. In full control of the ant s body, the fungus can now direct the ant away from it s
natural daily routine, and cause it to roam around the forest hoplessly. The reason being for the
fungus to target and take over these ants in the first place is to create a sort of mass production of
the fungul parasitic ants, taking over the forest,

Literally if i didn t have them i would probably die.
The first thing is family, My family is everything to me. My mom makes me food, cleans my

The Social Responsibility Of University Of Manchester
University of Manchester not only charges its social responsibilities for the people in school, but
also does them for the people around the world. So the question about how University of
Manchester can perfectly perform its social responsibility is really considerable. The topic of my
essay will be that management contributes to the Universityof Manchester s vision for social
responsibilitythrough achieving a delicate balance in allocating resources. I will mainly introduce
the idea about how management allocate human resource and financial resource and how it relates
to the social responsibility of University of Manchester.
University of Manchester, as a huge educational organization, is made up by thousands of staffs.
Undoubtably, these staffs are the one to perform the social responsibility. This is where to show
management on human resources is extremely vital.
Management should pre realize the different functions of the departments of University and than
managing employees. In this case , human resources manager will be familiar with and obey the
disciplines of managing. First of all, they recruit and employ the staff through the most just and
ethic progress. The University of Manchester has aimed to be fair on employing so that they
provide the jobs to types of people from different countries with different race and religions and
also do give the same chance to the disable people as they have ability to undertake the job. Another
case that is worth to mention

History On The Origin Of State Charters Essay
Brief History on the Origin of State Charters in California
California has followed the steps of many American states by committing its efforts on ensuring
educational developments through improved governance systems. In the last half a decade or so,
there have emerged diverse levels of studies in California State majorly because of three reasons
which include several legislative practices, institutions, and participation of state agencies. The
California Educational Commission was created as early as 1899 with a number of 70 members to
study the state s educational program with an effort of improving it. Of much interest was the
recommendation that legislation had to be twisted to form a uniform board for the governing of
normal colleges and universities in California. This issue resulted in the formulation of a law that
placed the normal colleges and universities in California under the State Board of Education.
A legislation in the year 1992 found it necessary to have schools and authorized their creation.
The legislation also came up with requirements for appeal signature and as a result a county
appeals process was created and whose charter renewal came after every five years. The legislation
also made clear the grounds for which the charters could be considered null and void. The
flexibility of the legislation allowed there to be an amendment in 1998, which brought about a
change in the requirements for petition signature and gave the mandate of revoking any charter to

Comparing The Storm God And The Serpent
The primary source I was assigned is The Storm God and the Serpent and is a Hittite source. In
broad terms, this story is telling the long battle between the Storm god and the serpent. This, like
many stories we have read and talked about is a constant struggle between good and evil , with
both parties taking the upper hand at some point. This story does have some different elements that
include love and family hardship that add to the story line. This next section will talk about the
battle between the Storm godand the serpent. At the beginning of the story the serpent smote or
hit the Storm god in the town of Kiskilussa (Line 3). This set the whole battle into motion that
the story is based off of. At first it seems like the Storm god is going to let the serpent get away
with the hit and just forget it happens. The Storm god calls all of the gods to him for the feast of
purulli (line 4). Inara had made so much food and drink that she invited the serpent to come and
eat as well. During the festival the serpent ate and drank so much that it was not possible for him
to return to his hole in the ground. Hupasiya tied up the serpent and the Storm god slewed the
serpent. (There is 40 damaged lines building up to the next part, but I believe one year has lapsed
and they are starting the next purulli festival (Line 20). This is when the serpent came... Show more

As we talked about in class with the thousand gods of Hatti , the Hittite people had many gods. In
the text when the Storm god was hit by the serpent he called all the gods to stand with him during
the festival and after the serpent was tied up, all of the gods stood behind him in killing he serpent.
This shows how important the vast number was and that people almost wanted quantity over
quality. I wander how this played in other areas other than fighting? Weather? Super Natural forces?

EXECUTIVE SUMMARY We wanted to remedy to the expensive fees paid by IESEG students for
their textbooks, so we conducted a survey to know whether they would be interested in a
secondhand shop for their books. According to the results, the sample seems enthusiast about this
project.
INTRODUCTION
When we started studying at IESEG, we were all surprised by the prices of the books. Indeed,
we all had to pay about €300 for the textbooks of the first year. Throughout the year, we realized
that textbooks were not useful for everyone and that we do not know what we are going to do with

Thus, we might get all the market shares.
The third graph shows the amount paid by students for their books: * Some students paid very
high fees for their books * they would be even more willing to participate to the project to save
money
This bar chart indexes the satisfaction of student concerning the price of the textbooks they paid.
The higher the rate index is (5), the higher is the satisfaction. * Most of the students (66%) were
poorly satisfied by the price (index 1 or 2) * Only 34% were satisfied with the price they paid
Also, the majority of people (53.4%) declared their textbooks were not damaged.
This graph shows: * Most people would be ready to buy or sell their textbooks at a price included
between 25 and 75€, * It would enable buyers and sellers to save at least 50% on the purchasing
price.
We also found that: * People would find it more practical to have the salestaking place directly in
IESEG buildings * We would only need a place to store the books at IESEG
The only costs will deal with marketing as we don t have to pay the books given. We will sell them
at least 20% less than the original price, and it can be even cheaper depending on their shapes.
Besides, potential sellers have declared being ready to let 10% of the selling price to our
association, in order to cover the internal fees.
This last pie chart sheds light on the fact that 96.55% of

Accidents on the road happen daily. Reducing the likelihood of an accident requires the
enforcement of necessary traffic laws and the use of appropriate safety measures. On occasion,
however, certain safety measures are not taken or enforced when they should be. One such
place that has great need for such measures is the intersection of Eglin Pkwy and 12th Ave in
Shalimar Florida. The Eglin Pkwy and 12th Ave intersection is a very familiar place for most
locals. Here Richbourg Ave coincides with 12th Ave and intersecting Eglin Pkwy. Going north on

According to the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles, there were 499
pedestrian fatalities in 2011, and in 2015 that number had increased to 632, an approximately 27%

great advocates for road safety, but a law cannot enforce itself nor can it keep everybody safe.
That is why the use of traffic and road signs is important: they enforce and they protect. For
instance, it is a generally known that you cannot exceed the speed limit of twenty miles per hour

Mealworms Lab Report
Zophobas morio Preference between a vanilla or coffee abstract
Tylar Lauby
Tuesdays at 6pm
23 September 2014
Abstract Zophobas morio, also known as mealworms, is the larva of the beetles called
tenebrionid beetles. These beetles have a tendency of mainly eating grass and sticks, and they
also tend to burrow. This lab study is to find out if the Z. morio prefer the smell of coffee
abstract or the sweet vanilla abstract. The way we did this study was by taking a habitat with
oats in it and see what side the mealworms would prefer (the coffee side or the vanilla side). My
conclusion of what side the mealworms preferred is the vanilla abstract over the coffee. This might
have been so because they may have liked the sweeter smell ... Show more content on

The mealworms seemed to have preferred the side with vanilla more than coffee. In the scientific
method you have several steps that take place. These steps include observe, develop questions, test,
collect information, analyze the findings, form conclusions, share results, and finally conduct more
research (Schiff, 2015). We have done all of these besides conduct more research. More research
needs to be done in order to find out more accurately if these test findings are accurate. I question
my findings because the abstracts are both human creations making me wonder why they would go
to either or if they had the diet that they do. After finding information about the mealworms I would
have changed my hypothesis to them wanting to go over to the coffee abstract more. This is
because it s more of a natural food and it isn t has sweet smelling as that of vanilla abstract. The
test results surprised me when after the first test. This is because I figured the mealworms
would go to vanilla because of the sweeter smell. But surprisingly they went to the coffee side
more. The second and third test the mealworms went more of where I originally thought. I
figured that all three of the test would be more like the last test was like. Mealworms can be a
pest in a house. They can get into your flour, corn meal, or any other type of house grains
(Arizona, 1997). This is why some students did their testing on some other surfaces so we could see
that they can survive in more than just

Despite Kingston not even knowing her aunt s name, she feels she has a connection to her.
Kingston thinks about her aunt s life and how she became pregnant. At first, Kingston blames the
pregnancy on the aunt. She explains that the aunt took time when getting ready and cared about
her appearance, which was unusual for Chinese women after they have been married. Kingston
describes, Once my aunt found a freckle on her chin... She dug it out with a hot needle and washed
the wound with peroxide (Kingston 328). This leads Kingston to believe that the aunt had an
affair. However, Kingston later believes that her aunt was possibly raped. When describing her
aunt s marriage Kingston writes, When the family found a young man in the next village to be her
husband, she stood tractable beside the best rooster, his proxy, and promised before they met that
she would his forever (Kingston 326). Chinese women were obedient. Kingston thinks that there
could not be the possibility that her aunt cheated on her husband because she was a dutiful wife.
Sympathizing with the aunt, Kingston writes, I want her fear to have lasted as long as rape lasted
so that the fear could have been contained (Kingston 326). She reflects on how horrible it must have
been living in such a small community with her rapist.
As an adult, Kingston no longer stays silent about the mistreatment of her aunt. Kingston reveals,

The Adolescent Community Reinforcement Approach
Introduction Adolescents are a population that can be at risk in regards to drug and alcohol abuse.
A program called the Community Reinforcement Approach was created and later adapted into the
Adolescent Community Reinforcement Approach in the 1970s to address problems adolescents
face when it comes to drug or alcohol abuse ( Intervention Summary Adolescent Community
Reinforcement Approach (A CRA) ). The Adolescent Community Reinforcement Approach works
with adolescents from the ages twelve to twenty five in both outpatient and residential settings.
There are three parts to the program; the client has intervention alone first, next the guardian has
intervention alone, and finally they have intervention together. It addresses mainly alcohol and drug
abuse but also deals with mental health, homelessness, and other behaviors that can lead to
substance abuse. The main focus of A CRA is designed to change certain aspects of the participants
environment to make it so that non using behavior will be more rewarding than using behavior
(Garner, et al., 2009). This program has been tested against multiple other approaches and it is
usually the most cost effective option, making it a desirable program when the success rate is also
factored in. Many rehabilitation facilities utilize this approach, for example the Maryhaven
treatment center in Columbus, Ohio. Maryhaven uses a combination of residential and outpatient
treatment plans, incorporating the Adolescent Community

Reflection Of Guy De Maupassant
Guy de Maupassant, an author, is famous for having an unpredictable twist in his stories and
this is exactly what he portrayed in The Necklace. So, who this is Guy de Maupassant? Already
we can assume by his name that he is French. Henri Rene Albert Guy de Maupassant named at

August, 1850. When Guy was eleven his parents separated *why* which as a result left his
mother to raise both him and his younger brother alone. His mother was in love with literary
work and so she passed on her passion to her two sons. As Guy got older he enlisted as a volunteer

realism to persuade his audience to stop letting society define them. The criticism points out
Eugenides use of modern day morals, as his attempt to revive ethics in our society. The analysis
acknowledges how The Virgin Suicides fits so well into a post modern genre, as well as the role of

Shostak acknowledges Eugenides writing as a call for change within the modern era. Shostak
details the Lisbon Girls and their suicides as a great metaphor: representing what is wrong with the
country , being the novel s ultimate scapegoat [...] predicting the forthcoming decadence , or
suicide to reflect the natural deaths due to industrialization (207). Shostak sees many reasons for
Eugenides writing about the tragic death of young girls. Primarily, Eugenides is depicting the
younger generation as morally corrupted. Shostak argues Eugenides writes with a greater purpose
than to sadden his audience with horrible stories. Shostak argues Eugenides writes with the
purpose to educate his reader: to send morally equipped readers to face a corrupted world armed
with opinions and an understanding of tragedy. The Virgin Suicides raises awareness of teen
suicide. Eugenides begins many conversations with his works, particularly this dark love story, with
underlying notions to our disappointing world.

An Artistic Representation of the Sixties Through Across The Universe
Many historical fiction films that we watch fail to depict history in an accurate way due to the
emphasis on entertainment and revenue instead of keeping the integrity of its historical events.
However, some motion pictures stay true to history while providing entertainment through fictional
stories. Although the stories are fictional, movie writers can craft stories that represent the history,
attitudes, and personalities of a time period in a historically accurate way. A prime example of a
movie that is entertaining and represents history accurately is Across The Universe, directed by
Julie Taymor in 2007. This film succeeds in... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For example, Prudence arrives through the bathroom window of Sadie s apartment, which is an
allusion to the song She Came Through The Bathroom Window , and Prudence s character is a
direct reflection of the song Dear Prudence . Characters names are off of song titles like Hey Jude ,
Lucy In The Sky With Diamonds , and Maxwels Silver Spoon . These are prime examples how the
Beatles music influenced the portrayal of Taymor s characters, but also how the characters
represent real people. Not only does the music represent the characters, but also Taymor integrates
the songs into real historical events. For example, Jojo travels to New York from Detroit after his
little brother was killed in Detroit s 12th Street Riot. The 12th Street Riot was one of the worst
riots in American history; the governor sent the Michigan National Guard into Detroit, and
President Johnson sent the U.S Army to subdue the riot. The end result was forty three dead, 467

eclipsed the 1992 riots in Los Angeles. Through the portrayal of the riot the black community of

meanings interpretations to each person. However after analyzing Let It Be , I have found the
phrase let it be is about giving up your personal power to a higher power, which is what the people

Odysseus Leader Analysis
Odysseus is a good leader because he is courageous, intelligent and has a lot of self confidence. As
a courageous man, he has no fear and becomes the most powerful character. For intelligence, he
know when to be polite which makes him an intelligent guy. Also, his self confidence showed his
companions that he is a true leader among other heroic members that Odysseusworked with. To
start with, Odysseus is courageous leader who helps his companions get out of scariest and life
threatening situations. For example, in the Circe s island when Eurylokhos, shipmate of
Odysseus, warns him to leave other shipmates and run away from his island, Not back there, O
my lord! You even you cannot return, I know you cannot bring away our shipmates. (Book 10,
line 292), but Odysseus ignores him and goes into the Circe s house. Then, Odysseus directly
faces Circe, Without a word, I drew my sword and in one bound held it against her throat. (Book
10, line 361), with his threatening sword, and successes to make his shipmates to their original
human form. Also, when Cyclopes called, Polyphemus, caught Odysseus and his shipmates to eat

and tried his best to make his crew survive. In addition, In Helios s Island, Odysseus warned his
crews not to eat the cattle, because if they eat these cattle, which belongs to Helios, he will get mad
and try to kill his crew. For evidence, No sooner had I caught sight of our black hull, grief took

Ancient Roman Cities Research Paper
Describe the layout and function of the various kinds of dwellings used by the Ancient Romans in
the cities and countryside. Introduction The remains of early Roman dwellings tell a tale of what
a person s wealth and status was in the community, the poor lived in complexes called Tenement
Blocks , the rich usually lived in one room townhouses called an Atrium , and elite crowd escaped
to their villas. The discussion The Tenement Blocks that most of the population lived were built for
quantity not quality, housing 1.5 million people (Kamm, n.d.). I imagine these to be the equivalent
of modern day skyrise affordable apartments in the city. They were tall apartment blocks on
average four to six stories high and often constructed with wood, poorly lit and unhygienic because
they had no running water or latrine. Conditions would have been cold and lighting a fire would ve
been unsafe because of the confined space and wooden structure. Wooden shutters on the windows

Yog Yoga And Yoga
In addition to meditation, yoga is also an important practice in Hinduism as well
as in Tibetan Buddhism. Yoga is used as a means to enlightenment and has influenced
other religious and spiritual practices throughout the world. The Bhagavad Gita and the
Yogasutra are some of the scriptures that establish the basis for yoga. The four main
types of yoga are Karma Yoga, Bhakti Yoga, Jnana Yoga and Raja Yoga. Yoga helps

The ultimate goal of yoga is to attain liberation from suffering and the endless cycle of

liberation and one who studies yoga is referred to as a yogi.

The Tyger By William Blake
The coexistence of good and evil has caused many people throughout time to question their God
and the way the world is. William Blake s compilation of poems called the Songs of Innocence
and Experience questions the good and evil in the daily lives of human beings. This collection of
poems includes The Tyger, a partnered poem in the series with The Lamb. Blake offers a new way
of interpreting Godthrough His creations in The Tyger. Blake demonstrates the fierceness of the
tyger s creator throughout the poem. The tyger is viewed as a vicious creature that people view
as a threat to their lives in many cases. A creature so evil to be created by a God depicted as
loving baffles many people, Blake included it would seem. The narrator asks, What immortal hand
or eye / Could frame thy fearful symmetry? (3, 4) This questionis asked throughout Blake s poem
with the answer alluded to at the end. Blake wonders how the same God who made such a gentle
lamb could make such a frightening and blood thirsty creature like that of the evil tiger. The
narrator uses imagery of the tiger being forged like one would forge a weapon. What the
hammer? what the chain? / In what furnace was thy brain? (13, 14) These lines give an idea of
the tiger being used as a weapon forged by God to show the power and fierceness that he holds.
One may assume he forged such evil to strike fear and obedience in his followers. The image
given to the reader is God as a blacksmith, hammering his creation in to

Pompeii s Destructive Evening In Pompeii
A loud noise like a gun went off from the volcano exploding as people ran for their lives. This is
probably what one destructive morning in Pompeii looked like in 79 AD. Pompeii is important
because of its destruction, rediscovery, and because it provided information about the ancient world.
Mt. Vesuvius gave Pompeiia warning earthquake in 62 AD (Goor 8). In 79 AD, a loud bang
warned the city that Vesuvius was about to explode (Cartwright par.12). The explosion covered
over 200 square miles, including not only Pompeii, but a couple other towns (List25). The
eruption lasted about a day, but the ash, rocks, and pumice blanketed the city for about two days.
Pompeii was buried about twenty feet deep (List25). After the eruption, some people tried to dig
to their homes (Goor 13). The eruption was one day after the festival of the Roman god of fire
(List25).
Pompeii was founded in 7th century BC and was at the peak of it s existence. It was even
popular for rich Roman tourists to stay there (List25). Even Nero, a Roman emperor, had one of
his summer houses in Pompeii, and one of his wives was born there (Cartwright 3). After August
24, 79 AD, Pompeii was forgotten. Soon, grass and flowers covered the city (Etienne 11). After a

In this world we are constantly being categorized by our race and ethnicity, and for many people it

and discrimination, it still occurs. In this nation of freedom and equality, there are still many people
who believe that their raceis superior to others. These beliefs are the ones that destroy our nation
and affect the lives of many. The people affected are not limited by their age group, sex, social
status, or by their education level. Their beliefs can cause them to attack other groups verbally or

These racist groups take advantage especially of the illegal Latino population in doing these things,
because they believe they have no rights due to their illegal status here in the United States. Also
these groups know that many of these Hispanics will not go to police to report these incidents of
discrimination and abuse, because they are fearful that in doing so they might get deported.
They also discriminate the legal Latinos, because in their eyes they are the same as the illegal
ones. The article also portrays the horrific actions of discrimination racist extremist do against
Latinos. Eviatar reports the examples of the abuse by stating, a young mother was arrested and
jailed when she asked to be paid for her work in a Tennessee cheese factory; a migrant bean
picker whose life savings were confiscated by police during a traffic stop, and a rapist in Georgia
going unpunished because his 13 year old victim is undocumented (par 3). The hate they feel
towards this minority group, cause them to commit acts that are unjustifiable. They inflict pain and
psychological suffering to Hispanics. This behavior is the cause racism, that as you see can harm to
other ethnicities at a great level. Racialism also comes to play in this case, because these groups
believe that they are biologically superior to Hispanics and other ethnicities and races as well. Our
race does not make us superior to others, yet they still believe in that it does. Enculturation

A Perfect Competitive Market Structure
In the economy, market structures are examined thoroughly. There are four basic kinds of market
structures in economics: perfect competition, monopolistic competition, oligopoly, and monopoly.
Perfect competition is the one that is being focused on predominantly. A perfectly competitive
market is a market in which all market participants are price takers (Krugman Wells 1). Price takers
are producers and consumers whose actions have no effect on the market price of the good
(Krugman Wells 1). A perfect competitive market structure consists of three aspects that will be
discussed. When perfect competitioncomes to mind, the Organic FoodMarket structure can be
associated to it or the perfectly competitive market industry. In the Organic market, all the farmers
in the industry are each producing the same product for the buyers and sellers. The consumption
of the individual consumer or the production of the individual producer will not affect the market
price of the goods. In a perfectly competitive market all participating producers and consumers are
price takers (Krugman Wells 1). As stated by Paul Krugman and Robin Wells, in a perfectly
competitive market neither consumption decisions by individual producers affect the market price
of the good (Krugman Wells 1). There are two necessary conditions for perfect competition, the
first being that none of the producers have a large market share, and the second being that the
goods produced are being regarded as a

To developed the war theory, Clausewitz used the Dialectic approach, which is a method of

According to him total or absolute war carry out with the utmost violence for unlimited aims, and

Persuasive Essay On Drug Abuse
Over the last few decades, law enforcement and the government has focused on reducing and or
eliminating drug use in the United States. The 1980 s fight against drugs saw the
implementation of the Drug Awareness Resistance Education (D.A.R.E.) program and after
school specials. While the two were supported largely by the communities, there has not been
clear cut evidence of the programs succeeding due to a lack of a control group (Kochis, 1995).
D.A.R.E. along with the afterschool programs are geared towards elementary and middle school
aged children as a method of drug deterrence however do not address drug use issues with older
teens and young adults. In recent years, teen and young adult drug use/abuse has increased. Also,
the increase in drug use has led to an increase in crime(Hawaii Mobilizes, 2003). Those teens and
adults caught with illegal substances or commit crimes due to drug use, can be sentenced to jail
time which lead to an increase in jail and prison populations. The issue with imprisonment for drug
charges is the court system is warehousing people in jail, where we are in fact not curing the
problem [drug use/abuse] but having temporary stops or suspensions (Reid, 2004). All the while,
people in our communities are asking for solutions to the drug and crime problems in their
neighborhoods. Several communities and states have attempted different programs with some
success in an effort to reduce or eliminate drug use/abuse and crime. Hawaii

The State University Of New York
Introduction
The State University of New York (2014) provides and clear and accurate description of
globalization:
Globalization is a process of interaction and integration among the people, companies, and
governments of different nations, a process driven by international trade and investment and aided
by information technology. This process has effects on the environment, on culture, on political
systems, on economic development and prosperity, and on human physical well being in societies
around the world (The State University of New York, 2014, para 1). Global economicsaffects the
decisions of firms, governments, and individuals in the United State in many different ways. The
World Trade Organizationmanages the rules and trade between nations and has a significant impact
on intellectual property rights. Intellectual property rights refer creations of the mind, such as
inventions; literary and artistic works; designs; and symbols, names and images used in commerce
(World Intellectual Property Organization, 2014). The purpose of this paper is to compare and
contrast free trade and protectionist theories, analyze how the global environment functions on a
micro and macro level within the context of the World Trade Organization, analyze the two level
game theory and how organizations make financial decisions in a globalized environment, and
determine which parties benefit from either increasing or decreasing trade restriction.

The Effects Of Seismic Surveys On Fauna
The present study monitored the direct and indirect Impacts of seismic surveys on fauna of the
mangrove using Birds Insects, Crabs, Reptiles and fishes as representative taxa. During the 3D
seismic survey, tools, labour and machineries were used inside the mangrove forests. Major sources
of faunal impacts observed during the seismic survey operations were from, 1) Physical presence
and movement of the labour and machinery within the forest and 2) Noise and vibration generated
from shooting (underground explosions). There are four major steps involved in the seismic
surveys, that result in disturbances to the system such as initial survey of the area, laying of cables
and geophones, shot hole drilling, and seismic wave generation through underground explosion
(underground explosion). Many elements of mangrovefauna were observed to be disturbed due to
these exploration process especially people interference.
Impacts on Mangrove fauna
There are many direct short term impacts on mangrove fauna from 3D seismic survey as
observed in the field. These temporary effects had mostly short term impacts since the survey
normally lasted only for few days in any given area. Faunal impacts of prospecting exploration
activities through 3D seismic data acquisition can be categorized broadly into two; direct and
indirect impacts. Direct impacts include changes in activity patterns of mangrove fauna especially
birds and crabs in response to the 3D seismic survey activity. Indirect impacts to

The Varying Practices of Allopathic Medicine and...
There are to branches of medicine currently practiced in the United States Osteopathic Medicine
and Allopathic Medicine. Throughout this paper I am going to discuss the history, practices and
beliefs of Osteopathic Medicine as well as describe the differences between Allopathic Medicine
and Osteopathic Medicine.
Osteopathic Medicine has a deep rooted belief in its core values and puts a very strong emphasis
on non invasive, hands on holistic medical practices. Osteopathic medicine puts all its focus on its
belief that the manipulation of bones, joints and muscles can be used to diagnose and treat a variety
of ailments. Osteopathic medical principles believe that the body is capable of healing, maintaining
and regulating itself without the use of pharmaceutical drugs or invasive procedures that are seen as
doing more harm than good.
During the early 19th century there was the beginning of a new movement to revolutionize
medicine. In 1892 a physician by the name of Andrew Still, MD as a protest against the
conventional medical system founded the American School of Osteopathy in Kirksville, MO. Still
believed strongly that the current medical system of the time was full of corruption, not efficient
and was in the habit of treating the disease and illness and did not worry about the underlying issues
that caused the affliction to begin with. Still founded Osteopathy during a time in which he
believed that conventional medicine was doing more harm than it was good.

bedroom window on the second floor. While this behavior does not seem abnormal for someone
of his werewolf type, Bella at this point in the movie does not know his inner wolf. In fact, none
of this odd behavior seems even to phase Bella. In addition, Jacob, who has just broken her heart,
comes in and starts speaking in riddles to Bella that would involve her having to exactly
remember just an ordinary conversation between the two that has that takes place weeks prior.
Somehow she magically remembers this conversation. None of the events that happen seem
even remotely believable. In particular, the lack of negative emotions Bella expresses upon her
face plays an influential role in the films utter lack of believability. Even though Jacob, a friend
guilty of lying to Bella, causes her emotional pain, Bella still finds herself listening kindly to
Jacob without hesitation. This highly unbelievable situation will most likely never happen in real
life. In addition, the scene exposes how Bella s willingness to give her current beliefs and
emotions all to have a moderately decent conversation with a boy she loves, in a friend way,
further demonstrating the central message that the story produces. This further exhibits the story s
willingness to push the message that love trumps anything and everything for love. Unfortunately,
this does not only happen once. A few scenes later, Bella learns that werewolves do in fact exist
and her best friend, Jacob, has the werewolf in him. After learning this new information, Bella
goes to the family home to meet the other wolves and the pack leaders, wife. In the movie, the
wolves make it clear that their identity as werewolves must remain a secret. However, Jacob
indirectly breaks this rule and shares it with Bella. At this home, the wife

Analysis Of The Kite Runner
One major theme that is evident in The Kite Runner is that scars are reminders of life s pain and
regret, and, though you can ease the regret and the scars will fade, neither will completely go
away. We all have regrets and always will, but though it will be a long hard process we can
lessen them through redemption. The majority of The Kite Runner is about the narrator and
protagonist, Amir. Almost all of the characters in The Kite Runner have scars, whether they are
physical or emotional. Baba has scars all down his back from fighting a bear, but he also has
emotional scars from not being able to admit that Hassan was also his son. Hassan is born with a
cleft lip, but for his birthday Baba pays for it to be fixed, which left a small scar above his
mouth. Hassan also has emotional scars from being raped. The reader is probably shown the
emotional scars of Amir the most. Amir has emotional scars because he feels that he killed his
mother, and also because his father emotionally neglects him. In the end of the novel, Amir
receives many physical scars from getting beaten up by Assef, when rescuing Sohrab. Though
scars will never go away and are a reminder of the past, not all scars are bad.
The book The Kite Runner by Khaled Hosseini is a story about two brothers who develop both
emotional and physical scars that in the end shape them as individuals. This amazingly written
novel will leave the reader sobbing at times of sorrow, and smiling and laughing at times of joy. This

Let The Right One Is A Stage Adaptation By Jack Thorne
On October 1, 2016, I attended a production of Let the Right One In at The University of
Oklahoma in the Weiztenhoffer Theater. Let the Right One in is a stage adaptation by Jack
Thorne based on the Swedish novel Marla Rubin Productions Ltd. and it was directed by Tom
Huston Orr as a fall main stage production for the university (University Theatre Program). Let
the Right One In was captivating and occupied the space with great power. Immediately once the
show began, I noticed the forwarding aspect of the overlapping scenes to help bring momentum
to the production. The specific reference I am making is to the introduction of the character
Oskar, who was played by Sam Pinson, coupled with Hakan s first murder. Hakan was played by
Weston Vrooman and his first victim in the production is Torkel who was portrayed by Austin
Reid. The overlapping of their two scenes set up a fast pace that added to some of the suspense
the show itself calls for in its mood. I really enjoyed this directing choice to have the bar placed
for high energy and pace right as the show began. Another aspect that I thought worked well for
this production was the casting choice of Sam Pinson for Oskar. The reason I mention this is
because Sam is not what I would expect in the casting of a young teenage boy. He is tall and not
the typical type for that role. I had been skeptical of this decision because of how Sam is not visibly
close to a child in the least, but Sam portrayed the role in a way that was

The Outliers Quote Analysis
Steve Jobs said the ones, who are crazy enough to think that they can change the world, are the
ones who do. This saying mean person who effort and creative to their work, they can shape the

In the Outliers, Malcolm Gladwellwrite 11 chapters about successand to become an outlier, people

assert yourself, and use your mind and imagination, you can shape the world to your desire ,

The only person standing in your way is you. It s time to let her go. Lose yourself (IMDb).
Directed by Darren Aronosky, Black Swan is considered a horror and mystery movie (IMDb).
Black Swan tells the story of a perfectionist ballerina named Nina, who is played by Natalie
Portman, who will do anything just to get the lead role of the swanqueen. Costarring in the film
alongside Portman is Mila Kunis, who plays Lily. Nina s life is completely consumed by dance
ever since she was a little girl. All Nina does is eat, sleep and breathe dance. Nina lives with her
overbearing and stage mother Erica who was once a former dancer herself but gave up her tutus
and ballet shoes to have Nina. The dance teacher Thomas is looking for a ballerina who can play

angle shot also captures her as she finally leaps off the platform and lands on the mattress. After
the show ends everyone cheers with joy and the other dancers and Thomas surround her while she
is still laying on the mattress looking up at everyone. Lily is the first to notice blood on Nina s

DC Circuits and Ohm s Law
Abstract
Throughout this experiment we looked at basic principles of DC circuits and electrical currents by
measuring the voltages and currents in simple currents. We used Ohm s law R=V/I and R=E/I and
the values of current and voltage to find the resistance of an electric circuit. We also found that the
SI unit of volt are Joules/Coulomb and that power is measured in Watts.
Questions and Answers
1.State the equation for Ohm s law. What do the variables V, I, and R stand for, and what are the
units of each? Of the units listed, which one is equivalent to coulomb/second?
The Ohm s law is R=V/ I where R is resistance which is measured in Ohm s, V is voltage in the
units of Joules/Coulomb and I is current with a units of Amps or coulomb/second.
2.From Part 3.1.1 (Power Supply): Produce a graph of output voltage Vout as a function of the
sliding contact position x, measured from the bottom end of slide wire resistor. Verify that the data
points fall on a straight line rather than a curve (don t actually compute the slope). Did the current
change while you varied the sliding contact position x? (hint your current meter was switched off
during this part, but this question can be answered using Ohm s law and your graph).
Based on the graph, when we varied the contact position x, the current did change even as the
current meter was turned off. The voltage also changed in a linear

The Importance Of The Battle Of Chancellorsville The Battle of Chancellorsville was one the most important encounters between the Union and the Confederates in what s known as the Chancellorsville Campaign. The Battle of Chancellorsville began on April 30, 1863 in the rural Spotsylvania County, Virginia and ended 6 days later on May 6, 1863. The battle was a result of the Union trying to take control of the Confederate capital, Richmond, Virginia. The Union had four previous attempts with the same objective, but they were defeated every time. The Union s energy was low, so General Joseph Hooker stepped in for Major General Ambrose Burnside. He planned to restore the troop s morale and improve the soldier s efficiency. He fixed problems such as, the living conditions of the troops, the food ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 4. Comparing Poems Industrialization And Soft Rains We came into this world and started to take over nature which, in the past, ruled the world itself. In the poems industrialization by Oni and Soft Rains by Sara Teasdale, they both share the message that nature s cycles will forever go on regardless of technology through the use of syntax and figurative language. In industrialization Oni demonstrates the overall idea of human unimportance by using sentence structure. what is a human/ but a cosmic spec/ of semi wanderlust... . The sentence structure of the previous quote helps prove the theme of human unimportance because every line of the poem does not have a complete sentence. First, the third stanza the poem writes Robins will wear their feathery fire,/ Whistling their whims on a low fence / Wire; . Alliteration is present in the lines that say feathery fire and whistling their whims since they both use the same first letter as one another. This alliteration shows how nature does not need humans in order for it to carry out its daily functions. Humans are not a necessary part of life, the robins will still keep doing what they need to without the invasion of humans. In the last stanza, the poem states And spring herself, when she woke at/ Dawn/ Would scarcely know that we were gone. . This is an example of personification because it shows spring waking up and continuing her routine which gives an inanimate object a human characteristic. This stanza also helps prove the theme of the unimportance of humans since the quote is saying that spring arouse and did not even notice the lack of existence of humans. The quotes above use figurative language to relate the theme of human unimportance to nature carrying on its normal responsibility. Both show that nature does not need human interference to continue with ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Stand And Deliver Themes Stand and Deliver Relevancy Today The film Stand and Deliver follows math teacher Jaime Escalante s determination to motivate underprivileged students and help them reach academic excellence. At the end of this whole journey, the students are able to realize their full potential and grow from the experience. There are several universal themes that the filmmaker is able to express through the use of various impactful filmmaking techniques. I believe that the film s passion is still relevant today, as the themes showcased throughout the film can very much be understood and empathized with by a diverse range of students in modern times. One of the themes that stand out the most in the film is the struggle to overcome adversity and push through problems in one s life that could otherwise get in the way from achieving goals. In the film, various students are shown to be quite vocal about what they believe they cannot accomplish, and this mainly revolves around Jaime Escalante s math class. Many students claim that math is just not for them, that they do not understand it and are better off without it. The filmmaker specifically shows this through a scene in the beginning of the film when Escalante asks different students a simple question on a basic concept in math and given in return unsure answers. The filmmaker gives close up shots of the students looking down at their desks, seemingly unconfident in their own understanding of basic math. The students at first resist trying to take math seriously, but with time Escalante eventually succeeds at sparking their interest and showing them that they are capable of a lot more than they believe to be possible. • 8. Advantages And Disadvantages Of SLN NLC were idealized to overcome inherent disadvantages of SLN. Entrapping structure is a blend of solid and liquid, spatially incompatible, lipids that confers distinct characteristics of NLC when compared with other lipid NPs [80]. Indeed, since the matrix of the lipids composing the nanostructured lipid carriers is more amorphous than for SLN, association efficiency is higher and offers a slower release [81]. The nanodroplet of liquid lipid, containing most of the drug to entrap, becomes dispersed within the solid lipid, granting a slower migration of drug to the outer phase and, therefore, a higher entrapment that lasts longer. The polymer:counterion proportion was thoroughly studied to achieve the most stable and suitable particles for buccal delivery. The stability was determined by assessing nanoparticle aggregation and disintegration in contact with simulated salivary fluid, along with the variation of polydispersity index, hydrodynamic diameter and zeta potential. It was observed that alginate NPs presented good stability during 120 min in contact with artificial saliva since some parameters did not significantly vary throughout of the course of the assay. Even though the chelation of zinc ions would be expected due to the high content of phosphates in artificial saliva, so it was suggested that the presence of calcium in the dispersion media prevented the zinc chelation and maintained the structure of alginate NPs intact, as expected to occur in vivo [91]. The size of pectin NPs significantly decreased (with consequent variation of polydispersity index) after contact with artificial saliva, indicating either erosion and/or shrinking due to the formation of additional cross linking with the ions present in the artificial saliva. Taking a Look at Zombie Ants The stereotypical Zombie Ant , most typically found in a rain forest and or farm climate, are not the flesh tearing type of zombie you most likely had in mind, instead, fungal spreading mind controlled ants, taken over by a fungal parasite. And these ants, are far from usual. There is a cycling, almost endless process, repeated in three stages. The process and fungusis called Ophiocordyceps Unilateralis. During the first faze, the fungal parasite picked up by the target ant, enters the ant s brain, by latching on to the skin, literally tearing its way through its cuticle, and separating all inside muscle tissue. The fungus is picked up from the forest floor, in particles dropped by another infected ant. This powerful overtaking fungus is known as. After the fungus has entered the body, it starts to travel up into the head of the infected ant. After the parasite has entered the brain, the zombification stage of the fungus inside the ant causes the fungus to grow in the head and take over the mind, where the ant now goes through an uncontrollable, helpless faze, where the fungus is present in the head, and now in charge of the ant s mind. In full control of the ant s body, the fungus can now direct the ant away from it s natural daily routine, and cause it to roam around the forest hoplessly. The reason being for the fungus to target and take over these ants in the first place is to create a sort of mass production of the fungul parasitic ants, taking over the forest, ... In the last half a decade or so, there have emerged diverse levels of studies in California State majorly because of three reasons which include several legislative practices, institutions, and participation of state agencies. The California Educational Commission was created as early as 1899 with a number of 70 members to study the state s educational program with an effort of improving it. Of much interest was the recommendation that legislation had to be twisted to form a uniform board for the governing of normal colleges and universities in California. This issue resulted in the formulation of a law that placed the normal colleges and universities in California under the State Board of Education. A legislation in the year 1992 found it necessary to have schools and authorized their creation. The legislation also came up with requirements for appeal signature and as a result a county appeals process was created and whose charter renewal came after every five years. The legislation also made clear the grounds for which the charters could be considered null and void. The flexibility of the legislation allowed there to be an amendment in 1998, which brought about a change in the requirements for petition signature and gave the mandate of revoking any charter to ... In broad terms, this story is telling the long battle between the Storm god and the serpent. This, like many stories we have read and talked about is a constant struggle between good and evil , with both parties taking the upper hand at some point. This story does have some different elements that include love and family hardship that add to the story line. This next section will talk about the battle between the Storm godand the serpent. At the beginning of the story the serpent smote or hit the Storm god in the town of Kiskilussa (Line 3). This set the whole battle into motion that the story is based off of. At first it seems like the Storm god is going to let the serpent get away with the hit and just forget it happens. The Storm god calls all of the gods to him for the feast of purulli (line 4). Inara had made so much food and drink that she invited the serpent to come and eat as well. We have done all of these besides conduct more research. More research needs to be done in order to find out more accurately if these test findings are accurate. I question my findings because the abstracts are both human creations making me wonder why they would go to either or if they had the diet that they do. • 23. The Adolescent Community Reinforcement Approach Introduction Adolescents are a population that can be at risk in regards to drug and alcohol abuse. A program called the Community Reinforcement Approach was created and later adapted into the Adolescent Community Reinforcement Approach in the 1970s to address problems adolescents face when it comes to drug or alcohol abuse ( Intervention Summary Adolescent Community Reinforcement Approach (A CRA) ). The Adolescent Community Reinforcement Approach works with adolescents from the ages twelve to twenty five in both outpatient and residential settings. There are three parts to the program; the client has intervention alone first, next the guardian has intervention alone, and finally they have intervention together. It addresses mainly alcohol and drug abuse but also deals with mental health, homelessness, and other behaviors that can lead to substance abuse. The main focus of A CRA is designed to change certain aspects of the participants environment to make it so that non using behavior will be more rewarding than using behavior (Garner, et al., 2009). This program has been tested against multiple other approaches and it is usually the most cost effective option, making it a desirable program when the success rate is also factored in. Many rehabilitation facilities utilize this approach, for example the Maryhaven treatment center in Columbus, Ohio. Shostak details the Lisbon Girls and their suicides as a great metaphor: representing what is wrong with the country , being the novel s ultimate scapegoat [...] predicting the forthcoming decadence , or suicide to reflect the natural deaths due to industrialization (207). Shostak sees many reasons for Eugenides writing about the tragic death of young girls. Primarily, Eugenides is depicting the younger generation as morally corrupted. Shostak argues Eugenides writes with a greater purpose than to sadden his audience with horrible stories. Shostak argues Eugenides writes with the purpose to educate his reader: to send morally equipped readers to face a corrupted world armed with opinions and an understanding of tragedy. John Stuart May 14, 2010 An Artistic Representation of the Sixties Through Across The Universe Many historical fiction films that we watch fail to depict history in an accurate way due to the emphasis on entertainment and revenue instead of keeping the integrity of its historical events. However, some motion pictures stay true to history while providing entertainment through fictional stories. Although the stories are fictional, movie writers can craft stories that represent the history, attitudes, and personalities of a time period in a historically accurate way. A prime example of a movie that is entertaining and represents history accurately is Across The Universe, directed by Julie Taymor in 2007. This film succeeds in... These are prime examples how the Beatles music influenced the portrayal of Taymor s characters, but also how the characters represent real people. Not only does the music represent the characters, but also Taymor integrates the songs into real historical events. Introduction The remains of early Roman dwellings tell a tale of what a person s wealth and status was in the community, the poor lived in complexes called Tenement Blocks , the rich usually lived in one room townhouses called an Atrium , and elite crowd escaped to their villas. The discussion The Tenement Blocks that most of the population lived were built for quantity not quality, housing 1.5 million people (Kamm, n.d.). I imagine these to be the equivalent of modern day skyrise affordable apartments in the city. They were tall apartment blocks on average four to six stories high and often constructed with wood, poorly lit and unhygienic because they had no running water or latrine. William Blake s compilation of poems called the Songs of Innocence and Experience questions the good and evil in the daily lives of human beings. This collection of poems includes The Tyger, a partnered poem in the series with The Lamb. Blake offers a new way of interpreting Godthrough His creations in The Tyger. The narrator uses imagery of the tiger being forged like one would forge a weapon. What the hammer? what the chain? / In what furnace was thy brain? There are four basic kinds of market structures in economics: perfect competition, monopolistic competition, oligopoly, and monopoly. Perfect competition is the one that is being focused on predominantly. A perfectly competitive market is a market in which all market participants are price takers (Krugman Wells 1). Price takers are producers and consumers whose actions have no effect on the market price of the good (Krugman Wells 1). A perfect competitive market structure consists of three aspects that will be discussed. When perfect competitioncomes to mind, the Organic FoodMarket structure can be associated to it or the perfectly competitive market industry. In the Organic market, all the farmers in the industry are each producing the same product for the buyers and sellers. The consumption of the individual consumer or the production of the individual producer will not affect the market price of the goods. In a perfectly competitive market all participating producers and consumers are price takers (Krugman Wells 1). As stated by Paul Krugman and Robin Wells, in a perfectly competitive market neither consumption decisions by individual producers affect the market price of the good (Krugman Wells 1). While the two were supported largely by the communities, there has not been clear cut evidence of the programs succeeding due to a lack of a control group (Kochis, 1995). D.A.R.E. along with the afterschool programs are geared towards elementary and middle school aged children as a method of drug deterrence however do not address drug use issues with older teens and young adults. In recent years, teen and young adult drug use/abuse has increased. Also, the increase in drug use has led to an increase in crime(Hawaii Mobilizes, 2003). Showing up shirtless, Jacob, superhuman jumps and climbs back in forth from a tree and the side of her home into her bedroom window on the second floor. While this behavior does not seem abnormal for someone of his werewolf type, Bella at this point in the movie does not know his inner wolf. In fact, none of this odd behavior seems even to phase Bella. In addition, Jacob, who has just broken her heart, comes in and starts speaking in riddles to Bella that would involve her having to exactly remember just an ordinary conversation between the two that has that takes place weeks prior. Somehow she magically remembers this conversation. None of the events that happen seem even remotely believable. In particular, the lack of negative emotions Bella expresses upon her face plays an influential role in the films utter lack of believability. Even though Jacob, a friend guilty of lying to Bella, causes her emotional pain, Bella still finds herself listening kindly to Jacob without hesitation. This highly unbelievable situation will most likely never happen in real life. In addition, the scene exposes how Bella s willingness to give her current beliefs and emotions all to have a moderately decent conversation with a boy she loves, in a friend way, further demonstrating the central message that the story produces. This further exhibits the story s willingness to push the message that love trumps anything and everything for love. Unfortunately, this does not only happen once. A few scenes later, Bella learns that werewolves do in fact exist and her best friend, Jacob, has the werewolf in him. After learning this new information, Bella goes to the family home to meet the other wolves and the pack leaders, wife. Hassan is born with a cleft lip, but for his birthday Baba pays for it to be fixed, which left a small scar above his mouth. Hassan also has emotional scars from being raped. The reader is probably shown the emotional scars of Amir the most. Amir has emotional scars because he feels that he killed his mother, and also because his father emotionally neglects him. In the end of the novel, Amir receives many physical scars from getting beaten up by Assef, when rescuing Sohrab. Though scars will never go away and are a reminder of the past, not all scars are bad. The book The Kite Runner by Khaled Hosseini is a story about two brothers who develop both emotional and physical scars that in the end shape them as individuals. This amazingly written novel will leave the reader sobbing at times of sorrow, and smiling and laughing at times of joy. This ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 44. Let The Right One Is A Stage Adaptation By Jack Thorne On October 1, 2016, I attended a production of Let the Right One In at The University of Oklahoma in the Weiztenhoffer Theater. Let the Right One in is a stage adaptation by Jack Thorne based on the Swedish novel Marla Rubin Productions Ltd. and it was directed by Tom Huston Orr as a fall main stage production for the university (University Theatre Program). Let the Right One In was captivating and occupied the space with great power. Immediately once the show began, I noticed the forwarding aspect of the overlapping scenes to help bring momentum to the production. The specific reference I am making is to the introduction of the character Oskar, who was played by Sam Pinson, coupled with Hakan s first murder. Hakan was played by Weston Vrooman and his first victim in the production is Torkel who was portrayed by Austin Reid. The overlapping of their two scenes set up a fast pace that added to some of the suspense the show itself calls for in its mood. I really enjoyed this directing choice to have the bar placed for high energy and pace right as the show began. Another aspect that I thought worked well for this production was the casting choice of Sam Pinson for Oskar. The reason I mention this is because Sam is not what I would expect in the casting of a young teenage boy. He is tall and not the typical type for that role. I had been skeptical of this decision because of how Sam is not visibly close to a child in the least, but Sam portrayed the role in a way that was ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Although Malcolm Gladwell assert if you work hard enough and assert yourself, and use your mind and imagination, you can shape the world to your desire , people can success their self, people who practice 10,000 hours than they can success, cultural legacy change their life and to become an outlier and when people effort hardly... • 48. Ohm s Law Lab Report Physics 132 Cassidy Grace Section MZ Mondays 4:40pm DC Circuits and Ohm s Law Abstract Throughout this experiment we looked at basic principles of DC circuits and electrical currents by measuring the voltages and currents in simple currents. We used Ohm s law R=V/I and R=E/I and the values of current and voltage to find the resistance of an electric circuit. We also found that the SI unit of volt are Joules/Coulomb and that power is measured in Watts. Questions and Answers 1.State the equation for Ohm s law. What do the variables V, I, and R stand for, and what are the units of each? Of the units listed, which one is equivalent to coulomb/second? The Ohm s law is R=V/ I where R is resistance which is measured in Ohm s, V is voltage in the units of Joules/Coulomb and I is current with a units of Amps or coulomb/second. 2.From Part 3.1.1 (Power Supply): Produce a graph of output voltage Vout as a function of the sliding contact position x, measured from the bottom end of slide wire resistor. Verify that the data points fall on a straight line rather than a curve (don t actually compute the slope). Did the current change while you varied the sliding contact position x? (hint your current meter was switched off during this part, but this question can be answered using Ohm s law and your graph). Based on the graph, when we varied the contact position x, the current did change even as the current meter was turned off. The voltage also changed in a linear ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
