PTSD And Exposure Therapy
PTSD Treatment Goes Virtual Imagine facing one s fears in a virtual world, or
preparing for events before they happen. With the invention of virtual reality technology,
what once was science fiction now is a fact. However, virtual reality technology has
another intriguing use: therapy for psychological disorders such as PTSD, or post
traumatic stressdisorder. David Myers, author of Exploring Psychologyin Modules,
defines PTSD as A disorder characterized by haunting memories, nightmares, social
withdrawal, jumpy anxiety, numbness of feeling, and/or insomnia that lingers for four
weeks or more after a traumatic experience (573). A safe and effective treatment option
has yet to be found for combat related PTSD, but recent research into virtual... Show

It should be noted that there are two kinds of virtual reality therapy: VRE and VRE AC.
VRE, or virtual reality exposure, entails aspects of the trauma being illustrated for the
patient within a virtual world, while the patient narrates what happened to them during
their harrowing experience (McLay Web). The second, VRE AC, which adds arousal
control, teaches the patient how to handle increasing stress levels in response to stimuli
related to the trauma while they are physiologically monitored (McLay Web). In a study
conducted by Albert Rizzo and his colleagues, he goes into great detail about how the
patient is physiologically monitored such as heart rate, galvanic skin responses, and
respiration throughout the session so that the therapist can go at a pace appropriate for
each patient without distressing them too much (Rizzo Web). Rizzo also describes the
key significance of clinical interface which enables the therapist to customize the
simulations for each individual patient (Rizzo Web). In lay man s terms, this gives the
clinician the ability to pace the patient s introduction to real time stimuli and then control
the stimuli as necessary to cultivate variations in anxiety essential for therapeutic
processing and habituation (Rizzo
The Power Of Music In Whitney Houston s When You Believe
Music has the unique power to influence the attitudes and actions of a person. Whether
it is used as a source of hope and soulful reflection on past struggles, like in Whitney
Houston s When You Believe, or to draw strength and determination to Olympians in
Vangelis Chariots of Fire, music can provide spiritual, inspirational or hope filled
meaning. In order to inspire and motivate year 12 students, the electrifying Chariots of
Fire is clearly a superior choice compared to the spiritual and soulful When You Believe.
This is evident through the analysis of timbre, dynamics and expression and pitch.
Through the manipulation of the musical element timbre, it is clear that Chariots of Fire
is the favoured selection to inspire and motivate seniors... Show more content on

In Chariots of Fire, the consistent ascending and descending movement in the melodic
contour, heard at 0:34 0:50, represents the highs and lows of success, where it is
common to get knocked down (seen in the descending phase) and bounce back (seen in
the repeated ascension of the melody). This encourages students to be persistent to
achieve success. When You Believe also has this wave like contour, highlighted at 1:50
2:05. Unlike Chariots of Fire, this movement gradually ascends during the climaxes of
the piece, creating a sense of uplifting hope and celebration rather than inspiration and
motivation required. When You Believe contains melismas and passing notes, evident
at 1:00 1:20. Whilst this does provide diversity to the piece, the piece loses stability.
Dissimilarly, Chariots of Fire does not include this manipulation. This lack of
embellishment successfully grounds the piece, conveying a sense of drive and
determination, motivating students to work hard. Furthermore, When You Believe has a
wide range and register, heard at 2:12 2:25. The use of the high register adds a dream
like and free quality to the piece, not suited to the grounding of senior students.
Dissimilarly, Chariots of Fire has a medium range and middle register successfully
grounding the piece, useful when attempting to motivate senior students. Additionally,
the chord progressions throughout Chariots of Fire portray a sense of unity and
strength, through the use of block chords. This has not been achieved in When You
Believe, where the chords are broken into 3 quavers (evident in bars 2 5), producing a
smoother and more subdued mood. The slow harmonic rhythm created by the Db
sustained pedal portrays a sense of endurance and reliability, both linking to the
physiognomies of the characters in the movie and the
Richard Cory By Edwin Arlington Robinson
The poem Richard Cory is a narrative poem written by Edwin Arlington Robinson . It
was published in 1897. One of Mr.Robinson most popular anthologized poems,The
poem begins by introducing us to Richard Cory. He s a total gentleman he s good
looking, slim, and admired by all of the people of the nearby town. The poem then
keeps on describing Mr. Cory. He s modestly dressed and friendly, he practically glitters
when he walks down the street, and naturally everyone is excited to see him. Also, this
dude is rich. Everyone in the town thinks that they want to be like Richard Cory. But then,
the unthinkable happens. Richard Cory, despite his money, good looks, and his high
status in society, goes home and shoots himself in the head. No one... Show more content

One can imagine Cory surrounded by gawking fans, expecting him to act and behave
like a man who has everything. Indeed Cory dutifully fit this role, he was always
quietly arrayed and always human when he talked when dealing with the public. Cory
comes across as a perfect upper class gentlemen, an imperially slim aristocrat who
knew what the public wanted. Cory not only acted, but looked the part he was a
gentleman from sole to crown , which was probably why he fluttered pulses when he
greeted his fans. Cory must have realized that the public thought he was everything
/ To make us wish that we were in his place or else he would not have acted so clean
favored whenever he was in their presence. Cory understood that he served as a role
model to people like the speaker, who deal with the everyday hardships of life. Yet even
the most caring role models are subject to fatigue. Cory must have been tried of being
expected to act like a gentleman just because he was richer than a king . It seems that
after being put on a pedestal for so long, he could not take it any longer.
Through the buildup of praise throughout Richard Cory Reveals an ironic and painful
truth in their quest for happiness, the people caused their hero to end his life. The irony
is structural because the speaker, like the rest of the public, is naГЇve in thinking that
their adoration of Richard Cory will not harm him. The poem starts with a simple
assessment of Cory. To the public,
Marvin Gaye Let s Get It On Analysis
Analysis Four: Song Let s Get It On by Marvin Gaye is about a couple that is in love
and are starting to get sexual. He talks about how he is in love with her and that she
loves him back. He says that he is feeling love for her and wants to have sex with her
to show her this. Although if she is not ready he won t push her to have sex, but he
knows she wants to have sex and is just beating around the bush. Marvin talks about
how since they got to live their lives they might as well live it together loving each
other (Gaye M. 1973). When listening to this song you can tell that this couple has a
close and loving relationship. Marvin talks about how since they have to be living their

1973). Although it does show a very stereotypical romance where the man is wanting
sex more than the women. He talks about how she is beating around the bush and
should just love him because he knows she wants to. Although Marvin does say he
will not push her to have sex with him, but he contradicts himself when he talks about
how she should stop waiting. He also seems to guilt her by saying that if she believes
in love she should get it on with him. Melvin is also very persistent with how he tells
her they should get it on, that she is what he is dreaming of and that they should make
love (Gaye M. 1973). This could be very relatable but yet very gender stereotypical of
a man in a relationship pushing a sexual relationship onto his significant other. In
society it is very stereotypical of the man to be the one to push the women into having
sex with him as soon as possible. You more often see men guilt tripping their
significant other into having sex with them. The song is also very stereotypical of
women by talking about how they wait to have sex in till they are emotionally ready.
This song although shows how much he truly cares for his women, it also shows how
much he pushes her to have a sexual relationship with him although she may not want to.
It shows a lot of problems and differences that typical couples may face when it comes to
a sexual relationship and
The Potassium-Argon Method
Evolutionary biologists and archaeologists in recent years have forever transformed
the way we look at our past, and have shed light on many things that were previously
waiting in the dark just ready to be discovered. With breakthroughs in technology such
as the potassium argon method, and DNA analysis, biologists and archaeologists have
found new ways to look back on where it all began. In 1967, scientists we re roaming
the Omo Valley in Ethiopia and they discovered what was the first known, and
documented member of our species in that of what was called Omo 1. (Video Sheet)
Thrilled about the discovery, scientists needed to know how old the skeleton they found
was. With the use of the Potassium argon method, they were easily able to pinpoint
exactly how old the skeleton was. As it turns out, the skeleton at hand was 195,000 years
old. (Video Sheet) Scientists we re extremely please with the find and without the use and
technology of Potassium Argon method they may have never been able to figure out the
exact timeframe that this person lived thus not being able to capture a lot... Show more

With the advancement of DNA analysis, scientists have been able to uncover some of
earth s greatest mysteries when it comes to the evolution of humans. One prime example
of this is in the case of discovering a completely new strand of DNA as it pertains to the
Y chromosome called A00. This new strand of DNA had around 40 50 mutations in it
which was extremely higher than that of other strands. Not only we re the mutations
alarming, but when it was discovered that the strand was 338,000 years old everyone
was shell shocked. This was extremely older than what scientists thought was the first
known species that we as people descended from. (Film Sheet) With discoveries such as
the strand of A00 people on earth are getting a much closer and much more accurate
idea of where we descended from as a

My grandmother was sitting only some steps away from where the bullet had landed,
so we were scared out of our mind. We weren t expecting anything like that to happen
to us because we don t have any problems with anyone. So we called the Ferguson
police department, and they had come by and they told us it was nothing they could do.
They told us that some people had called about people shooting 4 or 5 blocks away
from us, but we just didn t understand how it had come across the way and hit the house.
That was the only problem we had with Ferguson.

Huckleberry Finn
The theme of Mark Twain s Huckleberry Finn is that the ideas of society can greatly
influence the individual, and sometimes the individual must break off from the accepted
values of society to determine the ultimate truth for himself. In Huckleberry Finn s world,
society has corrupted justice and moralityto fit the needs of the people of the nation at that
time. Basically, Americans were justifying slavery, through whatever social or religious
ways that they deemed necessary during this time.
The conflict between society and Huckleberry Finn results from Huck s non conformist
attitude. This attitude is a result of his separation from society at an early age. With a
highly abusive drunkard for a father, Huckleberry Finn is forced from ... Show more

Huckleberry Finn recognizes Jim as a human being, but is fighting the beliefs bestowed
upon him by a society that believes slaves should not be free. However, it is important to
realize that although Huckleberry Finn s decisions create the conflict between society
and himself (and that this conflict forms the theme of the novel), Huck is oblivious to the
justice, the righteousness, and even the heroism of his own actions, they are simply in
accordance with his own conscience.
The climax comes in chapter thirty one of the novel, when Huckleberry Finn s moral
development reaches its peak. Up until this point in the novel, Huckleberry Finn has been
experiencing internal conflict concerning his treatment of Jim. Society has brought him
up to believe that Jim is nothing but property, rightfully belonging to Miss Watson, and
so Huck would be wrong in helping Jim flee. At the same time, however, his experiences
with Jim, and his own personal instincts about the situation tell him that he is doing the
right thing.
Huck feels terrible because he cannot please both voices of his conscience. Huckleberry
Finn feels as though society is right, and he is wrong. At first, he begins to write a letter
to Miss Watson to return Jim, but then ends up destroying the letter and deciding to help
free Jim. Specifically, in the novel, Huck says, quot;All right, then I ll go to hell, quot;
right as he tore up the letter. This indicates that
Mr. Tim Defoy Case Essay
The factors I will use to weigh in on reaching my decisions will be the evidence that is
incriminating against Mr. Tim Defoy. Embezzlement is a serious charge against the
superintendent over the school district. According to Forman (2017), Embezzlement is
defined as the misappropriation of funds for personal use by an entrusted individual.
Studies do show that most embezzlers work alone, too many people working on the
same task makes it much easier to be caught. In this case, Mr. Defoy was the only person
that had been accused of the crime. I will have to investigate how long do the reports
show the misappropriation of the public funds. I will also have to rule out everyone in
that office at the time because Mr. Defoy was caught that does not mean anyone else was
apart of the scheme. Once I... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
DeFoy is guilty. In the back of my mind, there is the thought that if I find Mr. DeFoy
not guilty, members of the public will be outraged. I cannot worry about the public
personal opinions, because Mr. DeFoy life is in my hands, and I have to make the
best decision. I do understand that I am up for reelection in six months, and I don t
want to be seen as the liberal judge who let a guilty man go free, the same man they
believe stole their money. According to Lim (2013), the sentencing behavior of elected
judges is more shifting than that of appointed judges, whereas, the sentencing
harshness of elected judges is strongly related to the political ideas of the voters in
their districts, while that of appointed judges is not. (p. 1361) Based on the research
when it comes to electing judges, my career as a whole should give the voters their
reason to reelect me. I will definitely charge Mr. DeFoy for embezzlement of the public
funds based on the evidence, and not because of public opinion. The decision was based
on his actions alone, a school district that the community send their children to get an

Sweatshops Research Paper
In 2009, a sweatshop scandal rocked the business world in the United States involving
a big name in athletic gear, Russell Athletics, which is owned by Berkshire Hathaway
family of products. This scandal shows a light on part of the business world that few
talked about and this changed how companies viewed social responsibility when it
came to what they did around the world. Sweatshops have been around for a long time
but now more people are wanting to get involved to try and stop. The question is who is
responsible on regulating labor practices around the world and why does it seem that the

International nongovernmental organizations are also called NGOs have attempted
to stop sweatshops around the world for many years I believe the public should care
about what happens around the world but should the focus really stray from our
nation completely. If we focus all of our attention on our own country before we start
with other than would we really have some problems like trillions in debt, veterans
being homeless, or so many children going hungry? Each country should have the
ability to regulate their own labor laws in a fake and then they need to use a resource
like the U.N. This should be a world issue and it should not be up to US to help every
time and save the day, they will never learn. I would have to say NGOs do a good job
trying to help around the world, by bringing together country they can try to put an end to
sweatshops. In the case of Russell athletics and it came down to the workers forming a
union which sparked the problem. In 2007 Russell athletics made the decision to fire 145
workers for supporting union this is what sparked the sweatshop campaign against the
company. In 2008 the Workers Rights Consortium (WRC) conducted an investigation
then published a 36 page report documenting the facts of worker rights violations by
Russell athletics. Workers Rights Consortium (WRC) is an independent labor rights
monitoring organization and their main goal is to combat sweatshops and protect the
rights of workers. And this investigation is what lead to the creation of United States

How Did The Dodge Challenger Change
The Dodge Challenger, Dodge s answer to the Ford Mustang... Six years too late. The

The Camaro and Mustang were already too far ahead anf Dodge had to struggle.
Dodge tried hard to make the Challenger seem like a cool car by having performance

A Short Note On Opioid Control And Opioid Controlled Drug
Diamorphine is used for pain control and known as an opioid Controlled Drug [CD],
acting by blocking pain signals to the brain (BNF, 2015; NICE, 2016). Opioid medication
is licenced for the management of moderate to severe pain however, long term use can
cause reliance of the drug yet when used to treat a terminal illness, there are no
restrictions (Knott, 2013; Nice, 2016). Morphine s most common side effects include
nausea and vomiting, sedation, constipation, hypotension and sweating however, it can
cause hallucinations which are important in the management of anxiety in palliative care
(Everyday Health, 2016; Mann Carr, 2009). Diamorphine causes less nausea and
hypotension than morphine and the focus in palliative care is painmanagement which is
more effective when avoiding pain, than in the relief of pain (Cancer Research UK, 2015).
Levomepromazine is Prescription Only Medication [POM] usually known as an
antipsychotic drug {tranquillizer} however, it can also be used as an antiemetic drug to
control nausea and vomiting (BNF, 2015; NHS Scotland, 2014). There are many
antiemetic drugs used to treat nausea and vomiting however, some work on the brain by
stopping the stimulation of the vomiting centre, whilst others work on the gut emptying
the stomach contents at a faster rate (Macmillan Cancer Support, 2013). An antiemetic
drug is chosen according to the causes of the vomiting and in Jacobs s case it is a known
side effect of taking Diamorphine. The most common side
Abortion Of Abortion
Despite this readily available information, a number of arguments are still present and

clump of cells . There is no clear empirical evidence that points out the distinction
between arbitrary sizes of these clumps. From the youngest zygote, to the oldest senior
citizen, all humans are clumps of cells. The second and more implicit claim within the
above statement, which would imply that a potential being cannot be a life, and is
instead comparable to a single egg or sperm cell, is similarly not based in objective truth.
The egg and sperm cells, before fertilization, are not genetically unique, but rather are
products of the parent, containing parent DNAuntil conception. It has already been stated
that a fetus is a living human, but if fetus is recognized as equivalent to an oocyte or
spermatocyte, the entire value of human life becomes both muddled in confusion and
laughable. If a sex cell of a parent organism is considered to be alive, why not consider
a blood cell or a hair cell? They similarly share the same qualities of any other living
cell, but the distinction is found in the uniqueness of a fetus. A skinned knee and a
haircut both take away the living qualities of human DNA, but do so in a manner

Building the Web Architecture
In order to build the web architecture, the system analyst would be required to analyse the
business requirements of the organization and then develop a clear statement of goals of
the organization. Since, the old site of the company is running it would be vital to
understand the technological and business related issues associated with the previous
website. Along, with that it should also be determined whether the IT staffs of the

Following are the steps which would be adopted by the company to minimize the
downtime during migration. * DNS Preparation: Before beginning the process of
migration the company would assure that the TTL is set to an hour for all the DNS
records. This step would be taken 48 hours before the migration begins. During this
process the company will ensure that when the migration is complete the IP address, the

Inventory Collection: The Company will ensure that its web directory and the

all the items that are required to be moved from the old website to the new websites.
This could include special server setups for the website. In case there are any cron

display a note Sorry for the interruption but we are moving to a new server to enhance
customer experience. We will be back online soon . This page would be placed in
front of the web directory and none of the visitors would be able to any other pages of
the website (McCann, amp; Rooney,). Keeping the visitors away for the website will
ensure zero percent data loss. * Database Movement: Now, after blocking the access to

What caused Ranbir concern was the lack of consensus among the various stakeholder
groups in the Indian
Railways about the idea of tracking the rolling stock
(freight railcars, passenger coaches, locomotives). The need to automate such tracking
especially for freight railcars6 had been felt for almost two decades. Initially, the
available technology was too expensive, and experimental in nature; however, lately,
technologies had stabilized, and costs had come down. Various options had become
available to automate the tracking, ranging from the use of RFID tags to the use of
Global Positioning Systems (GPS) based technology. Other available alternatives were
the use of optical tracking systems using OCR, or the use of hand held devices to
manually record wagon identification data.
Ranbir scrutinized the thick file of papers in front of him.
It described the pilot project for automatic wagon tracking, which had recently
commenced. The pilot project envisaged the use of RFID technology, already proven in
North
American railroads and other Railways, to tag 500 coal hopper wagons (Figure 1). Three
trackside tag readers would be placed along one of the routes used for

TX 77004 RE: Proposal Dear Dr. Salvo: The enclosed recommendation report compares
green roofs and white roofs, which I informed you of in my previous letter. The
information in this report includes the cost analysis, which examines the installation,
maintenance, and replacements costs of each roof type. In addition, the report examines
the environmental impact in offsetting greenhouse gases. In the world of construction, a
white roof is a structure covering made with a top layer of highly reflective white colored
paint. A waterproof barrier and an insulation board follow the top layer. If you have any
questions regarding this matter, please contact me at snguillen@uh.edu or at (832) 466

Personal Narrative-It s Time To Grow Up Books
Being an 8 year old at a garage sale has a certain smell to it. Sure, there are other senses,
the ugly flowery vase teetering on the edge of a plastic folding table. Cigarette smoke
everywhere, (it was 1994, smoking was way cooler back then). The early morning
swampy, humid feeling only Southeast Georgia can give you. For me, the only stuff
eye level and remotely interesting were the boxes beneath the tables (and sawhorses
with plywood used as tables). Sometimes you could find a handheld game, other times
just a pile of cassettes that should have wound up in a trash can instead of in this box
marked 25Вў each, 4 for 75Вў in thick permanent marker. These boxes had a particular
smell to them. One quarter old paper, one quarter old plastic, and... Show more content on

Look at this book! There s a fighter jet on it! This guy writes about a fighter jet or is a
fighter jet or likes fighter jets or maybe flies one and , I stammered as she cut me off.
How much? . Well I hadn t even thought something this cool cost money. I assumed the
owner of the book was more interested in giving the book away based on the fighter jet
factor alone. I ran back to the box, noted the price of 15Вў,and sprinted back to my
mother, who was now purchasing whatever mothers purchase at yard sales. She
skimmed the pages, tutted about condition, but added it to her pile. I was ecstatic. I
felt as if I had achieved a major goal in my life. We made it back to the car, I rifled
through the grocery bags full of doilies and knick knacks, and grabbed my book. I
couldn t wait, I wasn t even breathing as I held it up and felt the weight of great stories
and dogfights and missions. I cracked the book open, and haven t stopped reading for the

The Law Of Nature In Mere Christianity Of C. S. Lewis
At this moment, the human civilization is falling apart. The shield that guards the
safety of men is broken by wars and conflicts. The hearts of people are injured severely
by hatred, inequality, and discrimination. Countries lump into anarchy as laws and
orders fall apart. And day by day, promises have been broken so frequently that it
becomes a norm, and the meanings of words fall into ashes as people progress on
deception. The world is gradually transforming itself into a pure arena, where people
disguise as hounds and serpents simultaneously. However, amidst this chaos, there stands
supreme thing keeping the pieces of mankind s civilization together the Law of Nature.
The Law of Nature is discussed greatly in the book Mere Christianity of C. S. Lewis, who
asserts that it is the Law of Nature which makes humans obligated to do the right thing.
According to Lewis, this law can also be referred as The Real Moralityor the Standard to
which all people follow, and which people use to evaluate their and others behaviors. The
Law of Nature tells the people which circumstance is appropriate to execute certain
actions, and which situation is not suitable for certain behavior. For instance, in every
human, there is a warrior trait, which is said to be necessary by the Law of Nature in
order to protect oneself against life threatening beings, but to be wrong when it is used to
injure the innocent people. However, the Law of Nature functions beyond the machinery
of evaluating
Fairy Tales InBluebeard, By Charles Perrault
Fairy tales are more than what they seem. They are much more than children s bedtime
readings. Although, they aren t lengthy, they pack quite a lot of information and leave
room for interpretation. They reveal the truth of how the world can be unfair and people
can be cruel. Most fairy tales have been rewritten, some more than others. The later
versions have been sugar coated and made to be appropriate children s stories that all
have happy endings. In the tale, Bluebeard, by Charles Perrault, it is quite a unique story,
it has a different theme than most fairy tales. This wealthy man has a blue beard
which all women are repulsed by. He wants to get married, so he sways the girl by
hosting a party that last an entire week. They get married and soon after, the husband
must go for a business trip, tells the wife to enjoy herself by inviting her friends over
and gives her one rule to follow. Her actions lead to the repercussions that follow her.
Before describing the tale, certain characteristics come to mind when thinking of fairy
tales, such as magic, animals, protagonist, villain, royalty, etc. One critical aspect that
fairy tales contain is a moral. They all have a lesson. In the fairy tale, Bluebeard , there
may seem to be more than one theme or lesson to be learned, but one critical moral is
how curiosity can lead to the downfall of disobedience.
Curiosity is a powerful tool and can push one beyond their limits. In the tale, Bluebeard ,
the husband told his wife not

The Speaker s Role in Three Poems by Howard, Wyatt, and Raleigh
The speakers in Farewell, False Love, by Sir Walter Raleigh and My Lute, Awake! by
Sir Thomas Wyatt the Elder have similar motivations, although the poems have differing
constructs. Each speaker seeks to unleash his venomous emotions at a woman who has
scorned him, by humiliating her through complicated revenge fantasies and savage
metaphors. Through this invective, he hopes to convince us of this woman s inward
ugliness. Raleigh catalogues a long list of conceits for his false love: she is every horrid
thing from a siren song to an idle boy that sleeps in pleasure s lap .
The overtone of Henry Howard, Earl of Surrey s Alas! So All Things Now Do Hold Their

The eloquent My Lute, Awake! is ostensibly addressed to the speakers lute and to his
lover, but the story that he tells of her cruel rejection, and his predictions of her
eventual lonely decrepitude, are clearly meant for our ears, and he is notably aware
that we are listening. Although he refers to his lover as thee, he acknowledges early
on that she cannot or will not hear him: As to be heard where ear is none, / As lead to
grave in marble stone / My song may pierce her heart as soon. In Farewell, False Love,
Raleigh does not use the second person, and his motive is obviously to characterize his
faithless love before his public. His metaphors are as creative as they are damning, and
the verse itself is highly structured: the first stanza deals with his lover s dishonesty, the
second with her appearance of sweetness which masks sin ( A poisoned serpent covered
all with flowers. . . A gilded hook that holds a poisoned bait ), and so forth. This is no
spontaneous outpouring of emotion: it s more like a finely tuned, premeditated character
assassination.
Raleigh and Wyatt both proclaim stoicism in the face of rejection, contending that they
no longer care for their lovers after having been betrayed and rebuffed. Raleigh
concludes his poem with Dead is the root whence all these fancies grew. Wyatt asks his
lute, Should we then sing or sigh or moan? No, no, my lute for I have done. Care then

  • 2. PTSD And Exposure Therapy PTSD Treatment Goes Virtual Imagine facing one s fears in a virtual world, or preparing for events before they happen. With the invention of virtual reality technology, what once was science fiction now is a fact. However, virtual reality technology has another intriguing use: therapy for psychological disorders such as PTSD, or post traumatic stressdisorder. David Myers, author of Exploring Psychologyin Modules, defines PTSD as A disorder characterized by haunting memories, nightmares, social withdrawal, jumpy anxiety, numbness of feeling, and/or insomnia that lingers for four weeks or more after a traumatic experience (573). A safe and effective treatment option has yet to be found for combat related PTSD, but recent research into virtual... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It should be noted that there are two kinds of virtual reality therapy: VRE and VRE AC. VRE, or virtual reality exposure, entails aspects of the trauma being illustrated for the patient within a virtual world, while the patient narrates what happened to them during their harrowing experience (McLay Web). The second, VRE AC, which adds arousal control, teaches the patient how to handle increasing stress levels in response to stimuli related to the trauma while they are physiologically monitored (McLay Web). In a study conducted by Albert Rizzo and his colleagues, he goes into great detail about how the patient is physiologically monitored such as heart rate, galvanic skin responses, and respiration throughout the session so that the therapist can go at a pace appropriate for each patient without distressing them too much (Rizzo Web). Rizzo also describes the key significance of clinical interface which enables the therapist to customize the simulations for each individual patient (Rizzo Web). In lay man s terms, this gives the clinician the ability to pace the patient s introduction to real time stimuli and then control the stimuli as necessary to cultivate variations in anxiety essential for therapeutic processing and habituation (Rizzo
  • 3. The Power Of Music In Whitney Houston s When You Believe Music has the unique power to influence the attitudes and actions of a person. Whether it is used as a source of hope and soulful reflection on past struggles, like in Whitney Houston s When You Believe, or to draw strength and determination to Olympians in Vangelis Chariots of Fire, music can provide spiritual, inspirational or hope filled meaning. In order to inspire and motivate year 12 students, the electrifying Chariots of Fire is clearly a superior choice compared to the spiritual and soulful When You Believe. This is evident through the analysis of timbre, dynamics and expression and pitch. Through the manipulation of the musical element timbre, it is clear that Chariots of Fire is the favoured selection to inspire and motivate seniors... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In Chariots of Fire, the consistent ascending and descending movement in the melodic contour, heard at 0:34 0:50, represents the highs and lows of success, where it is common to get knocked down (seen in the descending phase) and bounce back (seen in the repeated ascension of the melody). This encourages students to be persistent to achieve success. When You Believe also has this wave like contour, highlighted at 1:50 2:05. Unlike Chariots of Fire, this movement gradually ascends during the climaxes of the piece, creating a sense of uplifting hope and celebration rather than inspiration and motivation required. When You Believe contains melismas and passing notes, evident at 1:00 1:20. Whilst this does provide diversity to the piece, the piece loses stability. Dissimilarly, Chariots of Fire does not include this manipulation. This lack of embellishment successfully grounds the piece, conveying a sense of drive and determination, motivating students to work hard. Furthermore, When You Believe has a wide range and register, heard at 2:12 2:25. The use of the high register adds a dream like and free quality to the piece, not suited to the grounding of senior students. Dissimilarly, Chariots of Fire has a medium range and middle register successfully grounding the piece, useful when attempting to motivate senior students. Additionally, the chord progressions throughout Chariots of Fire portray a sense of unity and strength, through the use of block chords. This has not been achieved in When You Believe, where the chords are broken into 3 quavers (evident in bars 2 5), producing a smoother and more subdued mood. The slow harmonic rhythm created by the Db sustained pedal portrays a sense of endurance and reliability, both linking to the physiognomies of the characters in the movie and the
  • 4. Richard Cory By Edwin Arlington Robinson The poem Richard Cory is a narrative poem written by Edwin Arlington Robinson . It was published in 1897. One of Mr.Robinson most popular anthologized poems,The poem begins by introducing us to Richard Cory. He s a total gentleman he s good looking, slim, and admired by all of the people of the nearby town. The poem then keeps on describing Mr. Cory. He s modestly dressed and friendly, he practically glitters when he walks down the street, and naturally everyone is excited to see him. Also, this dude is rich. One can imagine Cory surrounded by gawking fans, expecting him to act and behave like a man who has everything. Indeed Cory dutifully fit this role, he was always quietly arrayed and always human when he talked when dealing with the public. Cory comes across as a perfect upper class gentlemen, an imperially slim aristocrat who knew what the public wanted. Cory not only acted, but looked the part he was a gentleman from sole to crown , which was probably why he fluttered pulses when he greeted his fans. Cory must have realized that the public thought he was everything / To make us wish that we were in his place or else he would not have acted so clean favored whenever he was in their presence. Cory understood that he served as a role model to people like the speaker, who deal with the everyday hardships of life. Yet even the most caring role models are subject to fatigue. Cory must have been tried of being expected to act like a gentleman just because he was richer than a king . It seems that after being put on a pedestal for so long, he could not take it any longer. Through the buildup of praise throughout Richard Cory Reveals an ironic and painful truth in their quest for happiness, the people caused their hero to end his life. The irony is structural because the speaker, like the rest of the public, is naГЇve in thinking that their adoration of Richard Cory will not harm him. The poem starts with a simple assessment of Cory. To the public,

He talks about how he is in love with her and that she loves him back. He says that he is feeling love for her and wants to have sex with her to show her this. Although it does show a very stereotypical romance where the man is wanting sex more than the women. He talks about how she is beating around the bush and should just love him because he knows she wants to. Although Marvin does say he will not push her to have sex with him, but he contradicts himself when he talks about how she should stop waiting. He also seems to guilt her by saying that if she believes in love she should get it on with him. Melvin is also very persistent with how he tells her they should get it on, that she is what he is dreaming of and that they should make love (Gaye M. 1973). This could be very relatable but yet very gender stereotypical of a man in a relationship pushing a sexual relationship onto his significant other. In society it is very stereotypical of the man to be the one to push the women into having sex with him as soon as possible. You more often see men guilt tripping their significant other into having sex with them. The song is also very stereotypical of women by talking about how they wait to have sex in till they are emotionally ready. This song although shows how much he truly cares for his women, it also shows how much he pushes her to have a sexual relationship with him although she may not want to. It shows a lot of problems and differences that typical couples may face when it comes to a sexual relationship and

Huckleberry Finn The theme of Mark Twain s Huckleberry Finn is that the ideas of society can greatly influence the individual, and sometimes the individual must break off from the accepted values of society to determine the ultimate truth for himself. In Huckleberry Finn s world, society has corrupted justice and moralityto fit the needs of the people of the nation at that time. Basically, Americans were justifying slavery, through whatever social or religious ways that they deemed necessary during this time. However, it is important to realize that although Huckleberry Finn s decisions create the conflict between society and himself (and that this conflict forms the theme of the novel), Huck is oblivious to the justice, the righteousness, and even the heroism of his own actions, they are simply in accordance with his own conscience. The climax comes in chapter thirty one of the novel, when Huckleberry Finn s moral development reaches its peak. Up until this point in the novel, Huckleberry Finn has been experiencing internal conflict concerning his treatment of Jim. Society has brought him up to believe that Jim is nothing but property, rightfully belonging to Miss Watson, and so Huck would be wrong in helping Jim flee. At the same time, however, his experiences with Jim, and his own personal instincts about the situation tell him that he is doing the right thing. Huck feels terrible because he cannot please both voices of his conscience. Huckleberry Finn feels as though society is right, and he is wrong. At first, he begins to write a letter to Miss Watson to return Jim, but then ends up destroying the letter and deciding to help free Jim. Specifically, in the novel, Huck says, quot; All right, then I ll go to hell, quot; right as he tore up the letter. This indicates that

Embezzlement is a serious charge against the superintendent over the school district. According to Forman (2017), Embezzlement is defined as the misappropriation of funds for personal use by an entrusted individual. Studies do show that most embezzlers work alone, too many people working on the same task makes it much easier to be caught. In this case, Mr. Defoy was the only person that had been accused of the crime. I will have to investigate how long do the reports show the misappropriation of the public funds. I will also have to rule out everyone in that office at the time because Mr. Defoy was caught that does not mean anyone else was apart of the scheme. Once I... I do understand that I am up for reelection in six months, and I don t want to be seen as the liberal judge who let a guilty man go free, the same man they believe stole their money. • 18. A Short Note On Opioid Control And Opioid Controlled Drug Diamorphine is used for pain control and known as an opioid Controlled Drug [CD], acting by blocking pain signals to the brain (BNF, 2015; NICE, 2016). Opioid medication is licenced for the management of moderate to severe pain however, long term use can cause reliance of the drug yet when used to treat a terminal illness, there are no restrictions (Knott, 2013; Nice, 2016). Morphine s most common side effects include nausea and vomiting, sedation, constipation, hypotension and sweating however, it can cause hallucinations which are important in the management of anxiety in palliative care (Everyday Health, 2016; Mann Carr, 2009). Diamorphine causes less nausea and hypotension than morphine and the focus in palliative care is painmanagement which is more effective when avoiding pain, than in the relief of pain (Cancer Research UK, 2015). Levomepromazine is Prescription Only Medication [POM] usually known as an antipsychotic drug {tranquillizer} however, it can also be used as an antiemetic drug to control nausea and vomiting (BNF, 2015; NHS Scotland, 2014). There are many antiemetic drugs used to treat nausea and vomiting however, some work on the brain by stopping the stimulation of the vomiting centre, whilst others work on the gut emptying the stomach contents at a faster rate (Macmillan Cancer Support, 2013). An antiemetic drug is chosen according to the causes of the vomiting and in Jacobs s case it is a known side effect of taking Diamorphine. The most common side
  • 19. Abortion Of Abortion Despite this readily available information, a number of arguments are still present and advocate for the legalization and acceptance of abortion. One of the more frequent claims is that a fetus, rather than its own being, is rather a potential being, or just a clump of cells. First of all, one of the six classifications of life is, quite literally, to be a clump of cells . There is no clear empirical evidence that points out the distinction between arbitrary sizes of these clumps. From the youngest zygote, to the oldest senior citizen, all humans are clumps of cells. The second and more implicit claim within the above statement, which would imply that a potential being cannot be a life, and is instead comparable to a single egg or sperm cell, is similarly not based in objective truth. The egg and sperm cells, before fertilization, are not genetically unique, but rather are products of the parent, containing parent DNAuntil conception. It has already been stated that a fetus is a living human, but if fetus is recognized as equivalent to an oocyte or spermatocyte, the entire value of human life becomes both muddled in confusion and laughable. If a sex cell of a parent organism is considered to be alive, why not consider a blood cell or a hair cell? They similarly share the same qualities of any other living cell, but the distinction is found in the uniqueness of a fetus. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... What caused Ranbir concern was the lack of consensus among the various stakeholder groups in the Indian Railways about the idea of tracking the rolling stock (freight railcars, passenger coaches, locomotives). The need to automate such tracking especially for freight railcars6 had been felt for almost two decades. Initially, the available technology was too expensive, and experimental in nature; however, lately, technologies had stabilized, and costs had come down. Various options had become available to automate the tracking, ranging from the use of RFID tags to the use of Global Positioning Systems (GPS) based technology. Other available alternatives were the use of optical tracking systems using OCR, or the use of hand held devices to manually record wagon identification data. Ranbir scrutinized the thick file of papers in front of him. It described the pilot project for automatic wagon tracking, which had recently commenced. The pilot project envisaged the use of RFID technology, already proven in North American railroads and other Railways, to tag 500 coal hopper wagons (Figure 1). Three trackside tag readers would be placed along one of the routes used for

Recommendation Report On Green Roofs And White Roofs Essay Saira Guillen 4600 Cullen Boulevard Houston, TX 77004 June 30, 2015 Deborah Salvo, Ph.D. Cullen College of Engineering University of Houston 4800 Calhoun Rd. Houston, TX 77004 RE: Proposal Dear Dr. Salvo: The enclosed recommendation report compares green roofs and white roofs, which I informed you of in my previous letter. The information in this report includes the cost analysis, which examines the installation, maintenance, and replacements costs of each roof type. In addition, the report examines the environmental impact in offsetting greenhouse gases. In the world of construction, a white roof is a structure covering made with a top layer of highly reflective white colored paint. A waterproof barrier and an insulation board follow the top layer. If you have any questions regarding this matter, please contact me at snguillen@uh.edu or at (832) 466 8076. • 23. Personal Narrative-It s Time To Grow Up Books Being an 8 year old at a garage sale has a certain smell to it. Sure, there are other senses, the ugly flowery vase teetering on the edge of a plastic folding table. Cigarette smoke everywhere, (it was 1994, smoking was way cooler back then). The early morning swampy, humid feeling only Southeast Georgia can give you. For me, the only stuff eye level and remotely interesting were the boxes beneath the tables (and sawhorses with plywood used as tables). Sometimes you could find a handheld game, other times just a pile of cassettes that should have wound up in a trash can instead of in this box marked 25Вў each, 4 for 75Вў in thick permanent marker. These boxes had a particular smell to them. One quarter old paper, one quarter old plastic, and... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Look at this book! There s a fighter jet on it! Well I hadn t even thought something this cool cost money. I assumed the owner of the book was more interested in giving the book away based on the fighter jet factor alone. I ran back to the box, noted the price of 15Вў,and sprinted back to my mother, who was now purchasing whatever mothers purchase at yard sales. She skimmed the pages, tutted about condition, but added it to her pile. I was ecstatic. I felt as if I had achieved a major goal in my life. We made it back to the car, I rifled through the grocery bags full of doilies and knick knacks, and grabbed my book. I couldn t wait, I wasn t even breathing as I held it up and felt the weight of great stories and dogfights and missions. I cracked the book open, and haven t stopped reading for the past 22
  • 24. The Law Of Nature In Mere Christianity Of C. S. Lewis At this moment, the human civilization is falling apart. The shield that guards the safety of men is broken by wars and conflicts. The hearts of people are injured severely by hatred, inequality, and discrimination. Countries lump into anarchy as laws and orders fall apart. And day by day, promises have been broken so frequently that it becomes a norm, and the meanings of words fall into ashes as people progress on deception. The world is gradually transforming itself into a pure arena, where people disguise as hounds and serpents simultaneously. However, amidst this chaos, there stands supreme thing keeping the pieces of mankind s civilization together the Law of Nature. The Law of Nature is discussed greatly in the book Mere Christianity of C. S. Lewis, who asserts that it is the Law of Nature which makes humans obligated to do the right thing. According to Lewis, this law can also be referred as The Real Moralityor the Standard to which all people follow, and which people use to evaluate their and others behaviors. The Law of Nature tells the people which circumstance is appropriate to execute certain actions, and which situation is not suitable for certain behavior. For instance, in every human, there is a warrior trait, which is said to be necessary by the Law of Nature in order to protect oneself against life threatening beings, but to be wrong when it is used to injure the innocent people. However, the Law of Nature functions beyond the machinery of evaluating
  • 25. Fairy Tales InBluebeard, By Charles Perrault Fairy tales are more than what they seem. They are much more than children s bedtime readings. Although, they aren t lengthy, they pack quite a lot of information and leave room for interpretation. They reveal the truth of how the world can be unfair and people can be cruel. Most fairy tales have been rewritten, some more than others. The later versions have been sugar coated and made to be appropriate children s stories that all have happy endings. In the tale, Bluebeard, by Charles Perrault, it is quite a unique story, it has a different theme than most fairy tales. This wealthy man has a blue beard which all women are repulsed by. He wants to get married, so he sways the girl by hosting a party that last an entire week. They get married and soon after, the husband must go for a business trip, tells the wife to enjoy herself by inviting her friends over and gives her one rule to follow. Her actions lead to the repercussions that follow her. Before describing the tale, certain characteristics come to mind when thinking of fairy tales, such as magic, animals, protagonist, villain, royalty, etc. One critical aspect that fairy tales contain is a moral. They all have a lesson. In the fairy tale, Bluebeard , there may seem to be more than one theme or lesson to be learned, but one critical moral is how curiosity can lead to the downfall of disobedience. Curiosity is a powerful tool and can push one beyond their limits. In the tale, Bluebeard , the husband told his wife not
  • 26. The Speaker s Role in Three Poems by Howard, Wyatt, and... The Speaker s Role in Three Poems by Howard, Wyatt, and Raleigh The speakers in Farewell, False Love, by Sir Walter Raleigh and My Lute, Awake! by Sir Thomas Wyatt the Elder have similar motivations, although the poems have differing constructs. Each speaker seeks to unleash his venomous emotions at a woman who has scorned him, by humiliating her through complicated revenge fantasies and savage metaphors. Through this invective, he hopes to convince us of this woman s inward ugliness. Raleigh catalogues a long list of conceits for his false love: she is every horrid thing from a siren song to an idle boy that sleeps in pleasure s lap . The overtone of Henry Howard, Earl of Surrey s Alas! So All Things Now Do Hold Their ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The eloquent My Lute, Awake! is ostensibly addressed to the speakers lute and to his lover, but the story that he tells of her cruel rejection, and his predictions of her eventual lonely decrepitude, are clearly meant for our ears, and he is notably aware that we are listening. Although he refers to his lover as thee, he acknowledges early on that she cannot or will not hear him: As to be heard where ear is none, / As lead to grave in marble stone / My song may pierce her heart as soon. In Farewell, False Love, Raleigh does not use the second person, and his motive is obviously to characterize his faithless love before his public. His metaphors are as creative as they are damning, and the verse itself is highly structured: the first stanza deals with his lover s dishonesty, the second with her appearance of sweetness which masks sin ( A poisoned serpent covered all with flowers. . . A gilded hook that holds a poisoned bait ), and so forth. This is no spontaneous outpouring of emotion: it s more like a finely tuned, premeditated character assassination. Raleigh and Wyatt both proclaim stoicism in the face of rejection, contending that they no longer care for their lovers after having been betrayed and rebuffed. Raleigh concludes his poem with Dead is the root whence all these fancies grew. Wyatt asks his lute, Should we then sing or sigh or moan? No, no, my lute for I have done. Care then
