I’LL SIGN TWICE
WEEK 11 SEMINAR
WES SINGLETON & JOHN BRAND III
I’LL SIGN TWICE
• Unanimously adopted sign twice method
• No actual study signing twice effective
• Other foreign languages do not follow this method
• Often have written or oral exams
• Signed Languages more unique
• Rereading has three strikes against it. It is time consuming. It
doesn’t result in durable memory. And it often involves a kind
of unwitting self-deception, as a growing familiarity with the
text comes to feel like mastery of the material. -Weimer 2014
• Scores of studies document that if students read material
and then take a test on it, they recall way more on the
second test than students who prepare by simply rereading
the material. - Weimer 2014
• …with language tests, the P&P format is increasingly
restrictive. - 2lti
TESTING & TECHNOLOGY
• Technology influence how we administer exams
• Ability to watch/read as often as we want
• Students of various levels are able to take same test
without feeling overwhelmed
• Introduction of new method called Flipped Classroom
FLIPPED CLASSROOM
• Classroom is reversed
• Lecture found online while homework done in
classroom
• Students gain more face to face time with teachers
• More time to work on projects, exercises and
discussions
