Tahitian Dance Research Paper
A Tahiti Fete is a cultural dance competition. It is used to gather those whose passion is presenting
their own interpretation of what the traditional dance portrays and allows them to present their
creations. Tahitian dance, similar to all Polynesian dance, is used to tell stories through motion and
sound. Body movement of each individual as well as movement of the group as a whole is
carefully planned to tell the story in the most realistic way possible. Although Tahitian danceis
indigenous to Polynesia, it has been introduced and performed elsewhere San Jose for example.
San Jose holds a Tahitian competition the Tahiti Fete as large as those in Tahiti itself. Groups from
all over the world join the competition held in San Jose including individuals from Russia and
Japan. Being a part of this event has been a life changing experience for me.
For the first time in five years, Hawaii enters the San Jose Tahiti Fete. This was no ordinary
competition for us, there was a lot of meaning behind why we entered and how we entered the
way we did. It took 3 years for the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

how many other cultures share the same passion for the Tahitian traditions. Polynesian dance has

What Are The Pros And Cons Of Gun Control
The United States has 88.8 guns per 100 people, or about 270,000,000 guns, which is the highest
total and per capital number in the world. 22% of Americans own one or more guns (35% of
men and 12% of women). America s pervasive gun culture stems in part from its colonial history,
revolutionary roots, frontier expansion, and the Second Amendment, which states: A well
regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep
and bear Arms, shall not be infringed. Proponents of more gun control laws state that the Second
Amendment was intended for militias; that gun violence would be reduced; that gun restrictions
have always existed; and that a majority of Americans, including gun owners, support new gun
restrictions. Pros:High capacity magazines should be banned because they too often turn murder
into mass murder. A Mother Jones investigation found that high capacity magazines were used in
at least 50% of the 62 mass shootings between 1982 and 2012. [7] When high capacity
magazines were used in mass shootings, the death rate rose 63% and the injury rate rose 156%.
David H. Chipman, Senior Vice President of Public Safety for Shot spotter and former Bureau of
Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF) agent, stated that a high capacity magazine
turns a killer into a killing machine. Some gang members use high capacity magazines, such as 30
rounds or even 90 rounds, to compensate for lack of accuracy and maximize

The On Art World And Class Structure
Throughout history, it has always been argued that economic power affect art. By voluntary
means, we produce, trade, buy and sell our products that would benefit us in various ways.
Economic power allows people to exploit their resources in a free market. It has the ability to
help others successfully reach prosperity. Some philosophers claim economic power has a huge
impact on art, whereas other philosophers express a different opinion. Davis and Freeland
believes economic power influences art, but Todd disagrees. 9.5 Theses on Art and Class
introduces a list of theories on art world and class structure. Davis claims class exists in the art
world because it is an important factor for art. He states, Since different classes have... Show more

Throughout the excerpt, Davis describe the differences between the ruling class, middle class and
working class. The ruling class is identified as a capitalist who has complete control over the
realm of visual arts. These superior individuals would mostly come from large corporations,
including auction houses and corporate collectors; art investors, private collectors, and patrons;
and trustees and administrators of large cultural institutions and universities (Davis 2).
Additionally, the ruling class is also capable of [subjugating], within the sphere of the arts, [and]
other possible values of art (Davis 2). They view art as a luxury good that strengthens their
social status. In the art world, the ruling class is at an advantageous position because they have
the most power in all aspects. According to Davis he writes, [with] craftsmanship or intellectual
prestige [it] indicates [your] social status (Davis 2). The more products you own, the greater
your social status. The ruling class develop very little interest in the art world and their only
motive is to gather more power. Davis claims the working class [and middle class] is controlled
from above (Davis 4) for work. In a free market, the ruling class creates challenges for the middle
class and working class to compete with each other for artistic labor.
The middle class describes a person who uses their full potential to design individuality products for
self support. Unlike the ruling

Analysis Of The Film Antwone Fisher
Good Morning Gentleman and Ladies I appreciate the DA giving me an opportunity to speak to
you. I have read the background information on your specific case. Today s presentation will
present on overview of the research concerning false memories and how such findings could apply
to this particular case. I will then outline some situations that are known to increase the likelihood
of false memories and end with strategies that may reduce the occurrence of false memories
By way of introduction and if you will indulge my brief nod to Hollywood this is often how the
issue of memory is portrayed by popular media. In the 2002 film, Antwone Fisher, Denzel
Washington plays a military psychologist who is tasked with evaluating the mental health of
recently demoted seaman, Antwone Fisher. As the film goes on Denzel Washington discovers
(along with the rest of us) Antwone Fisher s highly traumatized past. Through the cinematic use
of multiple flashback scenes Antwone is gradually brought back to the scene of the crime
seemingly remembering such details as the overall abuse in addition to the exact placement of
holes in the wall or buckets on the floor or shirt he was wearing. In other words, the flashback
scenes depict a kind of grand narrative of absolute truth that we, as viewers don t question.
Antwone Fisher simply needed a nudge by a safe, albeit stern father figure in order to remember it
all.
Additionally the film is bookended by a dream sequence of a young

Software As A Service ( Saas )
Abstract. Software as a service (SaaS) is becoming popular in the modern era of cloud computing.
Most of the organizations prefer to use SaaS instead of on premise software applications. This
brings the responsibility of supporting a large number of tenants by the software vendor. A good
approach for handling multiple tenants is to implement multi tenant architecture for SaaS. Multi
tenant SaaS application will run a single instance of the application for all the users while providing
enough customization options to tenants so that they feel like they are working on a dedicated
application. Nevertheless, implementing the multi tenant architecture effectively is a complex task
as a lot of challenges and implications are involved in the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

The benefits of SaaS that make it popular are as follows: No additional hardware costs: the
processing power required to run the applica tions is supplied by the cloud provider. No initial
setup costs: applications are ready to use once the user subscribes. Pay for what you use: if a
piece of software is only needed for a limited period then it is only paid for over that period and
subscriptions can usually be halted at any time. Usage is scalable: if a user decides they need
more storage or additional services, for example, then they can access these on demand without
needing to install new software or hardware. Updates are automated: whenever there is an
update it is available online to ex isting customers, often free of charge. No new software will be
required as it often is with other types of applications and the updates will usually be deployed
automatically by the cloud provider. Cross device compatibility: SaaS applications can be
accessed via any internet enabled device, which makes it ideal for those who use a number of
different devices, such as internet enabled phones and tablets, and those who don t always use the
same computer. Accessible from any location: rather than being restricted to installations on indi
vidual computers, an application can be accessed from anywhere with an internet enabled device
[15]. To get the maximum out of SaaS, another emerging characteristic called multi tenancy is

The Pros And Cons Of White Collar Crime
Criminals walk amongst us everyday. When people hear the word criminal, murderer , robber ,
and arsonist , are what most people think of. No one thinks about the CEO of a billion dollar
company, the everyday pharmacist, or even a trusted personal financial advisor. This is due to
the respectability and high social status these occupations hold (Temchenko, 2016). Of the many
crimes committed every year, white collar crimes are one of the most highest crimes committed
because they are overlooked. On July 28, 2016 , 14 year old Bresha Meadows, who had no prior
record of violence, was arrested and potentially up for a life sentence in prison for saving her
family from more domestic abuse by shooting her father (Jeltsen, 2016) . In 2003 the former
chairman and chief executive of MCSi Michael E. Peppel, who pleaded guilty to conspiracy,
money laundering and filing false documents with the Securities and Exchange Commission was
only sentenced to spend seven days in prison because Peppel was a remarkably good man . The
charges against Peppel carry a minimum 8 year sentence (Henning, 2013). Sentencing disparities
between white collar crimeversus street crime is a crime within itself and some form of justice
needs to be served. Sentencing disparity is defined as a circumstance where alike cases are not
treated similarly or different cases are not treated differently (Council of Europe, 1989). An
example would be two men who each stole the same amount of items. Neither have

Gaius Julius Caesar And The Fall Of The Roman Empire
General, politician, and master of propaganda, Gaius Julius Caesar, better known as Julius
Caesar, is closely associated with the fall of the Roman Republic. A man of profound charisma
who was well known for his pivotal military campaigns, Caesar was also an author and a shrewd
developer of military propaganda . He also became known for expanding the roman republics
geographic borders and founding its imperial system. Caesar had battled in numerous wars and
took part in the Roman government. The start of his Dictatorship of the Roman Empire, would
ultimately be the cause the end of his life. He would later become a large part in the History of
Western Civilization. This essay will explore the life of Julius Caesar, his influence on the Roman
Republic, government, military, and social practices.
Around July 13, 100 BCE, Gaius Julius Caesar was born in Rome . His mother was named Aurelia
Cotta, who was a born noble. His father governed the province of Asia as a Praetor, he was also
named Gaius Julius Caesar.
When he was fifteen years of age, his father passed away, making him the, paterfamilias, leader
of his home . He decided that becoming part of the priesthood, would benefit his family. There,
he managed to be nominated as the High Priest of Jupiter. Not only did Caesar have to take part
in patrician stock, he had to marry a patrician woman. He then became engaged to a woman
named Cornelia. Cornelia was daughter of Lucius Cinna, high profile and powerful leader of the
Populares . This marriage provoked fury in the, self declared Dictator, Sulla. He began a
methodical elimination of foes and those who held to the Populare ideology. Cornelia s father
was Sulla s political opponent. Because of this, Sulla targeted Caesar. He commanded that
Caesar divorce his wife, or he would lose his property. Caesar refused and fled Rome, but his
sentence was lifted intercession of his mother s family. Regardless, Caesars position as Priest was
stripped and his wife s dowry was impounded.
With no means to take care of his family, Caesar enlisted in the military. During Caesar s time in
the military, he proved himself a good and effective solider. For saving someone s life, Caesar was
presented the civic crown. He also

Rehabilitating a Historic Structure
I have been chosen, as the employee of a house museum, to lead the task of rehabilitating a historic
structure so that it will retain its historic integrity. This form of rehabilitating differs from restoring,
preserving or reconstructing a structure, because there is the field of thought that structures need to
retain their original integrity and be returned to the way in which they once stood. The following
are a list of ways in which I would take this historic structure, and work to research and rehabilitate
it to be an image of its original self or more closely visible to what it may have looked like in the
past. The research will conclude what basic elements of the structure are the most important to
maintaining the original integrity of the building, and which take precedent over other criteria.
There are numerous steps and thoughts which an individual must consider when they are seeking to
rehabilitate a structure which is to be a house museum. The old house journal gives thirty five tips
for individuals who are seeking to rehabilitate an old home. Many of these could progress to
become house museums or private households in the future, yet they give a fantastic idea into what
needs to be considered when they are rehabilitated. Just as the old house journal wants to
rehabilitate historic homes to their original state, the national park service states on their website
under their section on restoring homes the expressed goal of the Standards for Restoration and

The Current State Of Our Cybersecurity Infrastructure
In recent year s law and policy makers have expressed alarm at the exponentially growing threat of
malicious traffic that has been traveling across the Internet. While most agree that something needs
to be done, consensus falls apart around the issues pertaining to cybersecurity policies, laws and
enforcement. This policy paper will briefly discuss the current state of our cybersecurity
infrastructure. The terms of malicious traffic, liability and its forms will defined, key components
will be introduced, the roles that the InternetService Provider (ISP), software producer, end user,
operating systems developer play in this process will be examined and key legislation will be
mentioned. These key factors and research herein, help to supply that the liability should lie with

The Fundamental Principle Of Concept Of Parsimony
The most fundamental principle of behaviourism is the concept of parsimony. The law of
parsimony, which can be known in other variations as the (Occam s Razor or Morgan s canon )
defines that explanations should In fact account for the greatest number of facts or observations,
with the fewest number of principles or assumptions. (Underwood, 1957) When studying
behaviourism, the Key concepts found are the stimulus and response also known as the (S R)
equation. This involves classical and operant conditioning. These stimuli s allow the greatest
possibility to manipulate independent variables in order to study the dependent variable. The
measurable change in environment means that any event or situation may have some subsequent
changes in behaviour to reinforce learning. Theorist John Broadus Watson (1913) was the first
behaviourist to coin the ideas around behaviourism. He used contiguity to explain ideas and said
that practice could strengthen ones learning. His approach to behaviourism was very
parsimonious, using only a strict few simples to explain a variety of phenomena, e.g. The Little
Albert experiment . The idea round the experiment was that by pairing a white rat (CS) with a
loud bang (UCS) one could induce fear (UCR) which is known as classical conditioning. With
these observable events Watson s was able to influence many theorists and their contributions to
behaviourism. Firstly I refer to Skinner s work on

The U.S. Free-Enterprise Economy Essay
The United States is known for having a free enterprise economy where a business can be
conducted freely without government involved. In free enterprise economies, goods and services
are traded openly and are produced depending on the demand. People who support this type of
economy believe it motivates businesses to make money and welcome new ideas. An important
part of the economy is to have full employment and low inflation. Keynesianism and monetarism
are both ways to stabilize the economy and promote growth when need. In keynesianism,
government uses fiscal policy which is a list of policies that government spending and taxing can be
used to improve the performance of an economy. The government produces stabilization by taxing

This policy is results in faster results to speed up the economy for the short term. Fiscal Policy is
later used to develop a plan of yearly actions and is a long term way to stabilize the economy. The
next idea to stabilize the economy is a theory called monetarism which is the belief that if
government did not interfere with the market economy that employment would be high and
inflation low. Followers believe the government is the reason of downturns such as the recent
recession. Both of these policies, keynesianism and monetarism are important and supported by the
citizens. These ideas of how economy should be conducted both want to ensure a stable economy
for the people. That s where comparisons end and differences began. Monetarists want absolute
freedom in the economy from government interference. They insist that Keynesianism causes the
downturns because government it so worried about stabilizing the economy and doesn t let it fully
growth. Keynestists believe government should help aid the economy and can track it s progress.
Therefore a more structured policy is in place to provide aid in keeping stability from outside
interferences. Without the government watching, numerous problem can arise such are large
businesses taking over the small businesses which can lead to businesses closing and loss of jobs
and no one wants to start a business with that as a possibility. Balancing the national budget is one

October Sky Themes
October sky assignment A lil bit about the film: October sky is a movie based around a young
man called Homer Hickam and his love for rocketry during the space race between the USSR
and the USA that lasted from 1955 to 1975. Homer Hickam lives in a small town named
Coalwood in West Virginia when the Soviet Union launches the first satellite (Sputnik 1) into
space in 1957. This fascinates Homer and he falls in love with the idea of building rockets. As
he investigates rockets more, a few things happen: He blows up his mum s fence with one of his
first prototypes, forms the amateur rocket agency Big Creek missile agency, has a fight with his
dad and wins the science fair. The movie has many themes but the main ones were: Being

care about what Homer does and wants him to take over the coal mine which is bound to die out
along with the town. Even when Homer shows great potential and interest in rocket science.
Homer s dad is more interested and invested in his brother s life because he is a star football
player. It is even said in the film that Homer s dad always goes to his brothers football games but

In life, people are free to do what they desire. We have the ability to choose our own path; a path
that teaches us not only lessons that lead us to social/academic achievement, but a lesson about
morality, self respect, and integrity. It s importance are the key components that inspire us to strive
and want to succeed. The path that each of us chooses to take surrounds us with problems and
obstacles that derogate the self confidencethat we have in ourselves away and leading us to
distress. However, these problems that torment our mind are the reasons we learn the morality of
self respect. It s not about how great you can succeed without fault, it s about how critical you can

According to the United States census, the world population is over 7 billion and a birth occurs
every 8 seconds. China leads with well over 1.3 billion people. There are rural areas, in Africa
that women have never heard of any form of birth control. In those areas, women have 6 or more
children. According to the United nations report (2013), The world s population is expected to

We as people need to work on preserving our natural resources, for the betterment of our future.
And, birth controlis a considered method in helping control our population. Birth control is also

Conclusion For Universal Health Care
Premise 1: A universal health care system would reduce health care costs.
Premise 2: Universal health care improves overall public health.
Premise 3: Universal health care would encourage patients to practice preventive medicine.
Premise 4: Healthcare would be affordable to all citizens if made universal.
Conclusion: Therefore, implementing a universal health care system in our society would greatly
benefit everyone.
Reducing Health Costs
With a universal health care system, the government would have control and run the system,
therefore, the cost of healthcare would be regulated. A universal health care system would be
regulated by the government, so costs overall would be reduced with a more monitored system to
reduce inflated costs for tests, hospital stays and procedures. (Ireland, 2017) When you regulate
medical costs, the cost of medical coverage, supplies, and prescriptions are more affordable for
everyone.
Improved Overall Public Health
With universal healthcare being more affordable, everyone gets equal access to medical health
care. This can lead to a reduction in the number of medical issues suffered by our society.
According to Howard K. Koh, M.D., we can absolutely expect for overall public health to
improve if we provide quality, affordable health care coverage for all Americans. (Cohen, 2009)
This means people would miss less work and/or school. This also means that more people could be

Microbiology UV Light Lab Report
Introduction:
Why does Ultra Violet light at 260nm cause the most damage to DNA? Does damage caused by
UV light affect DNA in both prokaryotic and eukaryotic cells alike? UV light at 260nm causes the
most damage to DNA because that is the amount of light that DNA absorbs the most light. No, UV
light does not affect both prokaryotic and eukaryotic cells the same way. For example, in
eukaryotic cells there are three different ways DNA can be repaired (photoreactivation, post
replication repair excision repair), whereas in prokaryotes excision repair mechanism is used.
Explain how do pyrimidine dimers form. Pyrimidine dimers form when DNA is damaged by UV
light and they form ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The damaged part of the DNA strand is nicked out by endonucleases that contain the dimer,
which is then released from the DNA. After the fragment is released, DNA polymerase fills in
the gap with a new strand and DNA ligase will close up the repaired strand. Are endospores more
or less resistant to UV light than vegetative cells? What accounts for this increased or decreased
resistance to UV light? Endospores are more resistant to UV light than vegetative cells. Endospores
have an increased resistance to UV light because of the structure (exosporium) as well as the small
acid soluble proteins found inside, which tightly bind and condense the DNA in the endospore.
Develop a hypothesis for the experiment conducted. Be sure to include how the length of
exposure to UV light and the ability to form endospores affects a cells susceptibility to UV light.
(If it is easier you can form two hypotheses one about how lethality is connected to length of
exposure to UV light, and another about how the susceptibility of endospores and vegetative cells
to UV light. 1. If there is a longer length of time the bacteria is exposed to UV light, then more
cells will be killed. 2. If the bacteria exposed to UV light can form endospores, then they are less
susceptible to the effects of the UV light and can survive the conditions.

political process by which an unofficial understanding is reached before a final decision is made on
a particular matter. Nemawashi is Bottom up style decision making (middle management has the
greatest influence on decision making). The Japanese are primarily concerned with harmoniously
working out problems without causing interpersonal frictions, such nemawashi is employed as
simply informal lobbying to gain consensus before action. A complete consensus is essential and

If one is greeted with a bow however, they should return the bow, preferably as low as the one

Between Japanese, subordinates will bow deeply and their superiors will not to the same extent.
Before everyone takes a seat, it is an essential part of Japanese business etiquette to exchange
business cards. In Japan, business cards are called meishi . They are considered not only as
serious tools for establishing business contacts, but also as identification of the individual and
the company he/she represents. Business cards should be printed with one side in Japanese and
one side in the language of the individual s home country. It is in ones best interest to offer their
business card with both hands as this denotes greater respect. Unlike many Western countries
where it is acceptable to pocket a business card upon receipt, it is considered extremely rude and
disrespectful in Japan. In comparison it is expected for the recipient to review and memorize the
details printed on the card and then carefully place it in a card holder or pocketbook. As Japanese
business meetings are conducted formally, it is unacceptable for members to dress casually.
Acceptable attire for men includes conservative suits in a dark color. Women are also expected to

The Butterflies In The Things They Carried
The symbol the butterflies in The Things They Carried by Tim O Brien is significant because it
represents hope and Elysian even though the main idea is to show the emotional and physical
burdens of war. To emphasize the butterflies are mentioned six times throughout the whole book.
The first time they are mentioned even though they were in war it was actually a beautiful
place, ravines and gorges and fast moving rivers and waterfalls and exotic butterflies and steep
cliffs. I believe he was saying even in all this warfare it is still a beautiful place. The second time
it was mentioned is the the chapter The Man I Killed where it lands on his chin there was a

Advantages Of Linear Dynamic Analysis
1.3.2Linear dynamic analysis = for tall buildings, buildings with torsional irregularities, or non
orthogonal systems, a dynamic procedure is required. In the linear dynamic procedure, the
building is modelled as a multi degree of freedom (MDOF) system with a linear elastic stiffness
matrix and an equivalent viscous damping matrix. Linear dynamic analysis is carried out by two
methods: Response spectrum method Elastic time history method The corresponding internal
forces and displacements are determined using linear elastic analysis. The advantage of these
linear dynamic procedures with respect to linear static procedures is that higher modes can be
considered. However, they are based on linear elastic response and hence the applicability... Show

In nonlinear dynamic analyses, the detailed structural model subjected to a ground motion record
produces estimates of component deformations for each degree of freedom in the model and the
modal responses are combined using schemes such as the square root sum of squares. The non
linear properties of the structure are considered as part of a time domain analysis. This approach is
the most rigorous, and is required by some building codes for buildings of unusual configuration or
of special importance. However, the calculated response can be very sensitive to the characteristics
of the individual ground motion used as seismic input; therefore, several analyses are required using
different ground motion records to achieve a reliable estimation of the probabilistic distribution of
structural response. Since the properties of the seismic response depend on the intensity, or
severity, of the seismic shaking, a comprehensive assessment calls for numerous nonlinear dynamic
analyses at various levels of intensity to represent different possible earthquake scenarios. This has
led to the emergence of methods like the Incremental Dynamic

Wrong With Deforestation
We are consuming our forests three times faster than they are being reproduced. Some of the
richest timber lands of this continent have already been destroyed, and not replaced, and other vast
areas are on verge of destruction. Theodore Roosevelt. This quote by president Theodore Roosevelt
goes to show that deforestationhas been a problem for many years, and that there should be an end

it is only progressing quicker and quicker. The president was right about this problem with nature,
and it should be fixed once and for all.
There are many interesting facts and knowledge concerning deforestation which will add to one s

All Summer Is A Day By Ray Bradbury
Many centuries after the first spaceship landed on the moon, a group of brave rocket men and
women did the unbelievable. The short story All summer is a day , by Ray Bradbury, takes place in
the underground city of the planet Venus where tunnels roamed instead of streets. The land above
them was submerged with endless pouring rain and deadly jungles. The sight of the sunwas a rare
miracle that only happened once every seven years. The children spent all their life in the enclosed
underground tunnels, well all except for one. Margot was the only child who came to Venus when
she was four, and the biggest difference was that she still remembered the times when the glowing
sun gave warmth and hope.
Thesis Statement (1 3 sentences) Her past experiences and opportunities caused the children of
Venus to be jealous of her. As a result, the children harassed Margot in disbelief. The gloomy,
enclosed environment affects everyone greatly. The message of the story shows how the
environment and the people around you can affect you because of their own lack of experiences.
The author portrays this when the children harass the main character, he also uses craft moves to
show isolation of the main character, and how depressed she is as a result. To begin, the author
shows that the harassment Margot goes through is due to the children lack of knowledge about the
sun since they have spent their whole life on Venus. Throughout the day, Margot brings back
memories of the sun.

One problem that America experienced as a result of The Great Depression was that people were
unemployed. This means that many people lost their jobs, and they were unable to find any work.
In document B the graph shows that in 1929, the unemployment rate decreased, it went from being

that most the companies start using the PTO system prior to the year 2000.
The PTO system allowed employees to take time off without any restriction imposed through
traditional time off policies. the tactic provides employees with countable days that assign

Short Term Liquidity And Operating Cash Flows
3.Short term liquidity and operating cash flows. Please be advised good cash flow systems are
necessary for effective operation in the Motor Vehicles Dealers industry. As it is expected,
companies in this industry have expensive purchases that, when combined with low turnover,
can lead to liquidity problems. Liquidity refers to the availability of cash in the near future after
taking account of immediate financial commitments (also known as current liabilities). Cash in
the near future will be available from bank deposits, cash released by sale of stocks and cash
collected from customers. Immediate financial commitments are shown in current liabilities.
The first ratio of liquidity is the current ratio, which is a simple comparison of current assets with
current liabilities. As per IbisWorld, the industry benchmark for current ratio is 1.3 to 1 (7),
which means that for every dollar committed in liabilities, companies have 1.3 in their assets.
Companies which generate cash on a daily basis, such as car retailers, can therefore operate on a
lower current ratio. For our particular sample, the trend has been very similar in the past 5 years
(see graph below). Overall, AHG has presented more solvency and liquidity than APE. *ref 2/3
Another aspect of solvency we need to look at is if the companies have enough short term assets
(without selling inventory) to cover their current liabilities. This is particularly important in times
of crisis, where short term creditors are

Dualism is a huge concept in the theory of consciousness and it states the perception of one self
falls outside of the known physical realm; Substance dualism, such as traditional Cartesian dualism
(Descartes 1644), asserts the existence of both physical and non physical substances. Such theories
entail the existence of non physical minds or selves as entities in which consciousness inheres.
Though substance dualism is at present largely out of favor, it does have some contemporary
proponents (Swinburne 1986, Foster 1989, 1996). (Stanford)
This is a theory that falls under dualism as it explains perception as something that is not physical.
According to this theory perception is something that is within us, both physical and nonphysical
elements exist within
The Cartesian System is a theory about consciousness deeply rooted in the belief of a god.
The essence of mind is self conscious thinking; the essence of matter is extension in three
dimensions. God is a third, infinite substance, whose essence is necessary existence. God unites
minds with bodies to create a fourth, compound substance, human beings. Humans obtain general
knowledge by contemplating innate ideas of mind, matter, and God (britannica)
In the Cartesian system god is essential. God is the one who unites the mind with the body to

The Olympic Event Is Not An Exemption Because
Introduction
Legadec 2007 argues that the universe had entered a totally new era of extreme events accompanied
by risks risk of their own kind. The globalization process has greatly contributed a lot to the risk

These factors are facilitated by urbanization, the increase in the interdependence and the

However, the Olympic event can be theorized as one of the magnets that greatly amplifiers both the
operational and organizational risks. The Olympic event does generate its own unique set of risks
and at the same time in also boosts the consequences and the probability of threats and hazards. For

Internal risks
The scope and scale of the modern Olympic is one of the direct sources of the internal risk which
is likely to be encountered by the host government (Brazil) and the city (Rio de Janeiro) during the
upcoming 2016 Olympic Games at the national level. The level of the total amount of resources
required to comfortably stage the Olympic Games has greatly been increased by the consistent
increment of the number of events, officials, participants and the media viewers. Currently the
20016 Olympic budgets are estimated to be around $33 billion. The economic risks that face both
the international organizing committee and the host city (Rio de Janeiro, Brazil) have been
increased by the increase in scale of Olympic movement. The gradual increase in cost and revenue
over the years has resulted to potential losses increasing proportionally to the potential gains (D
agati, 2013).
Majority of the host governments at the recent Olympics have typically underwritten the cost of
policing, infrastructure and other public services, while on the other hand they try to offset
operational costs against the commercial revenue. The 2016 Olympics is not exception to this
kind of risk because of the desire to secure the Olympic bid. Therefore, the relationship of direct
scale to risk is significantly represent in the in the operational and organizational risk for both the

Netflix And Vs. Hulu
The idea of this show would work best with Netflix and or Hulu. Netflix would be the best fit as
their catalog has a wider range of choices and are more experimental in their stories than typical
mainstream media. Their budget is also higher which I believe would be an added benefit for a
show like this that would be shooting on location more so than on a soundstage, or at least for
the city exteriors. The form of the show would not be a typical sitcom camera set up but more
like how Netflix shoots Master of None (2015 present) or Unbreakable: Kimmy Schmidt (2015
present). I feel like the camera would be less static and more cinematic. There would be longer
tracking shots to give the audience a sense of being there with these characters. The story is
meant to be intimate and that they are there with Julianna, going through these struggles life
throws at her. A typically, sitcom set feels as though the audience is looking into the characters
lives versus being immersed into the story itself. The eight to thirteen episodes seems like a
better fit for this type of a comedy as well. Instead of trying to stretch out a season of twenty
something episodes it makes more sense to try and keep the story line conscious and building off
of each other. In recent years tv shows have stopped being episodes that can be stand alone. A
viewer cannot just tune in to any random episodeof say Stranger Things () and understand what is
happening. Instead they have to watch every episode to

Enkidu And Gilgamesh Relationship Essay
In The Epic of Gilgamesh by N.K. Sandars, the relationship between Gilgamesh and Enkidu is one
of extraordinary measure. Enkidu was created solely for the purpose of being a match for
Gilgamesh. Gilgamesh and Enkidu s relationship developed quite strongly over time. In the
Afrocentric community, their relationship would have been described as ride and die , an eternal or
everlasting relationship. The middle class suburban community would interpret the relationship
between the two as a bromance, a relationship or friendship between two men that is extremely
close but does not involve sex (Dictionary.com). The LGBT community would describe Gilgamesh
and Enkidus connection as one with no barriers. All communities could call the relationship
between Gilgamesh and Enkidu love because of they way the two sacrifice for each other. Enkidu
was created for Gilgamesh; Enkidu s life plan fully consisted of him being a match for the... Show

Comstock V United States Case Study
MARYVILLE, MO The case of Comstock v United States was argument today before the highest
court in the land. The case asks whether the Adam Walsh Child Protection and Safety Act passed by
Congress is within their enumerated powers outlined in the Constitution. Also, the court will
determine if the Walsh Act violated Graydon Earl Comstock s right to due process and protection
against double jeopardy when it was used to justify detaining him past the length of his prison
sentence. Attorneys from two separate law firms represented Comstock in the proceedings today.
They claimed the Walsh Act violated his Constitutional protections by detaining him longer than his
full prison sentence. Under this Act, offenders deemed to be sexually dangerous

Andrew Carnegie and the the Second Industrial Revolution...
Andrew Carnegie and the the Second Industrial Revolution Andrew Carnegie, the King of Steel ,
the benevolent employer, the giant of industry, was among the greatest influences of the second
industrial revolution. It is sometimes questioned whether Carnegie was the ruthless, sneaky steel
tyrant some made him out to be, or the generous, benevolent education benefactor he appeared to
be. I believe him to be a combination of both, but more so the great giant of industry. Carnegie
was the classic rags to riches story, the penniless immigrant who made it big in the land of
opportunity. Carnegie was born in Dunfermline, Scotland, and migrated to America in 1848 at the
age of 13. His first job was in a cotton mill, earning a measly $1.20... Show more content on

As young as 33, Carnegie was pulling in an annual income of $50,000 a year, a huge amount at
that time, and this was enough for him. Carnegie was a firm believer that anyone could make it
to the top, and that it was the wealthys duty to help the poor work towards a more comfortable
life. Carnegie said that the man who dies rich, dies disgraced. This is a greedy, unselfish
philosophy that a robber baron could not conceive. Without Carnegie, the steel industry, and the
second industrial revolution in general, would never have progressed as much as it did.
Carnegie did what was necessary to make the steel industry more productive and more efficient,
for less money. He was a shrewd, ruthless, businessman who s aggressiveness made the steel,
railroad, and oil industries so economically successful. These characteristics, though not always
looked upon as nice or sympathetic, were sometimes necessary. He had paid his time as a poor
factory boy, and now it was his turn to live comfortably and aid others less fortunate to work
towards the same success. I feel that Carnegie was a very generous and benevolent philanthropist
in his giving of hundreds of millions of dollars to schools, libraries, arts and music centers, and
other educational and recreational facilities. However, I believe it would have been more ethical to

Willa Cather s My Antonia
In her novel My Antonia, Willa Cather, while writing in a sexist time, calls attention to the power
of the female in life and society through Antonia, Lena Lingard, Tiny Soderball and Frances Harling
and accentuates and celebrates the significance of the matriarchal world by use of Jim Burden as
the narrator. Jim holds an enlightened consciousness of the femalebecause, after spending most of
his life with these women, he sees how they started with nothing ended with a successful life. In a
time when women were expected to be subordinate to men, Cather s female characters defy the
stereotype and prove their self reliance and independence with the accomplishment of a prosperous
life. The strength of the female is primarily revealed to Jim through Antonia, whose determination
and confidence show to him that despite her struggles, she continues to give birth to multiple
children which further triumphs her challenges that led to successes. Since most women are
accompanied by a malein life, Lena proves that even with their absence, success can come from
female independence. Frances serves as a more obvious explanation to how females thrived in a non
supported environment because she has the same job as many men, but victoriously triumphs over
them. By declining the conform to the typical female role, Antonia, Lena, Frances, and Tiny
advocate to the female character their importance in life and society, showing that their absence
would be virtually useless to males.Antonia

The Z3 Research Paper
The creation of the modern computer was not a clear, patented event, but an evolutionary process
occurring over many decades. There was a tremendous amount of work aimed towards the
development of computing from the time of Charles Babbage to Jack Kilby. Records of the most
significant contributors vary from nation to nation. Since more people have begun to see the huge
influence of computers on everyday lives, the records of the computers pioneers have been
juxtaposed to honor those most influential. Today, many people think of the first computer to be
the ENIAC (1946), the ABC (1942), or Colossus (1943) when actually the Z3 was completed about
one to five years before all of these. Konrad Zuseinvented the Z3, the first programmable, digital
computer, in 1941. The background of Konrad Zuse begins in Germany, he created his machines
unaware of the other developments of computers going on in the world, and his machines, software,
and novel ideas would give a portending insight into the future of computers.
Konrad Zuse was born in Berlin, Germany on June 22, 1910. His father was a civil servant; his
mother was his father s niece. He was brought up in Prussia, where his father was from, and

concepts based on energy, politics, security pipelines in Eurasia, international transit integration,
and the energy world order, can the conceptual argument be made that natural resources are

The U.S. has established military bases that are positioned closed to areas with resources, such as
oil fields. Additionally, the occupation of Afghanistan is another strategy in energy security, where
the U.S. felt threatened and has established military bases. It is ideally situated in the Middle East,
and it is bordering many neighboring populations that serve the interests of the American global
quests for energy security within the context of geopolitical, economic, and environmental
challenges that it has been debating since the 1970 s oil crisis (Pascual, Elkind, 2010, p.1). Areas of
interest next to Iraq are Saudi Arabia, Syria, and Iran. Additionally, Afghanistan borders Iran and
Pakistan. These areas of conflict and political conversation make the move of the U.S. an
opportunity to expand their energy security. These governments cannot find the strength to keep
order in their regions; thus, the U.S. gains from their chaos or it may have negative implications as
these regions may grow tired of the U.S. intervening in their once sovereign lands. The approach to

effects of western influence on communication through negations. These actions take place as a

that affect the structure of international systems, which are some of the theoretical and empirical

Persian Mausoleum Essay
Creating A Persian Mausoleum
This essay is a How To guide on how to make a Persian Mausoleum. The most well known
Mausoleum is Cyrus the Great s. Creating a Mausoleum of the same style as Cyrus the Great s is
simple and easy. Even with all the technology of the time the tomb is both minimalistic and modest.
The real wealth of the tomb was the treasure that was placed inside. The building of the tomb was
easy and simplistic to erect. In this guide you ll see its resemblance to the Egyptian pyramid design.
The scale of the structure is much smaller than the Egyptian tombs but serves the same purpose.
The structure also was as significant to the Persians as much as the pyramids to the Egyptians.
To begin with, the structure was made of limestone rectangles which were carved and placed
together to form a step like structure. There are seven pyramid succeeding steps which are irregular
in shape. The seven stones are significant in that they were ... Show more content on

which made me feel good as it shows I am slowly improving in certain aspects of my writing. I
still need to work on my comma usage, review subject verb agreement and review topic sentences
for a summary paragraph. Next, I would like to talk about sentence variety, which I mentioned in
my last post. This time, I used a variety of sentences in my writing and it really made a difference
in the tone and flow of the paragraph, so I believe I ve grasped how to use sentence variety
effectively. I would also like to talk about MLA formatting, which I also mentioned

My Time as a Human Statue
INSIDE AND OUTSIDE
Living statues or live statues are referred to people who pose in a statue or mannequin like of
manner and appear to be realistic. Looking back to the history of live statues, it has been seen that
this form of art has existed since the medieval and Renaissance times where live statues were a
regular feature of festivities and royal entries by rulers during that era. The living statue has also
been dated to appear in a scene of the 1945 French film, Les enfants du paradis (Children of
Paradise). In the modern century, a German dancer Olga Desmond put on Evenings of Beauty
(Schönheitsabende) in which she posed in imitation of classical works of art. Apart from that,
Staticman, the well known living statue personality with four world records, is also influential in
today s live statue art where he has organized many live statue festivals and teaches master
classes for this art. Stationed in the first spot which was the Taylor s University Square, being in
a mask under the scorching sun was one matter, but the main issue was to stay still in a static
pose for five minutes. I was a bit nervous but at the same time excited and curious since it was a
new experience for me. I had only seen live statues in Trafalgar Square in London when I was
small, and now here I was being in the same league as them; despite the fact that I m just an
amateur beginner and still learning. Working in a group for this live statue was another interesting
challenge because not

  • 2. Tahitian Dance Research Paper A Tahiti Fete is a cultural dance competition. It is used to gather those whose passion is presenting their own interpretation of what the traditional dance portrays and allows them to present their creations. Tahitian dance, similar to all Polynesian dance, is used to tell stories through motion and sound. Body movement of each individual as well as movement of the group as a whole is carefully planned to tell the story in the most realistic way possible. Although Tahitian danceis indigenous to Polynesia, it has been introduced and performed elsewhere San Jose for example. San Jose holds a Tahitian competition the Tahiti Fete as large as those in Tahiti itself. Groups from all over the world join the competition held in San Jose including individuals from Russia and Japan. Being a part of this event has been a life changing experience for me. For the first time in five years, Hawaii enters the San Jose Tahiti Fete. This was no ordinary competition for us, there was a lot of meaning behind why we entered and how we entered the way we did. It took 3 years for the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... All 40 of us walked off of the same flight, to the same car rental center, and then to the same hotel. In the end it really did. We received 4 different rewards and not only that but we also made new relationships with each other, new connections that would have never been possible without this experience. • 3. What Are The Pros And Cons Of Gun Control The United States has 88.8 guns per 100 people, or about 270,000,000 guns, which is the highest total and per capital number in the world. 22% of Americans own one or more guns (35% of men and 12% of women). America s pervasive gun culture stems in part from its colonial history, revolutionary roots, frontier expansion, and the Second Amendment, which states: A well regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed. Proponents of more gun control laws state that the Second Amendment was intended for militias; that gun violence would be reduced; that gun restrictions have always existed; and that a majority of Americans, including gun owners, support new gun restrictions. Pros:High capacity magazines should be banned because they too often turn murder into mass murder. A Mother Jones investigation found that high capacity magazines were used in at least 50% of the 62 mass shootings between 1982 and 2012. [7] When high capacity magazines were used in mass shootings, the death rate rose 63% and the injury rate rose 156%. David H. Chipman, Senior Vice President of Public Safety for Shot spotter and former Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives (ATF) agent, stated that a high capacity magazine turns a killer into a killing machine. Some gang members use high capacity magazines, such as 30 rounds or even 90 rounds, to compensate for lack of accuracy and maximize ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. The On Art World And Class Structure Throughout history, it has always been argued that economic power affect art. By voluntary means, we produce, trade, buy and sell our products that would benefit us in various ways. Economic power allows people to exploit their resources in a free market. It has the ability to help others successfully reach prosperity. Some philosophers claim economic power has a huge impact on art, whereas other philosophers express a different opinion. Davis and Freeland believes economic power influences art, but Todd disagrees. 9.5 Theses on Art and Class introduces a list of theories on art world and class structure. Davis claims class exists in the art world because it is an important factor for art. He states, Since different classes have... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Throughout the excerpt, Davis describe the differences between the ruling class, middle class and working class. The ruling class is identified as a capitalist who has complete control over the realm of visual arts. These superior individuals would mostly come from large corporations, including auction houses and corporate collectors; art investors, private collectors, and patrons; and trustees and administrators of large cultural institutions and universities (Davis 2). Additionally, the ruling class is also capable of [subjugating], within the sphere of the arts, [and] other possible values of art (Davis 2). They view art as a luxury good that strengthens their social status. In the art world, the ruling class is at an advantageous position because they have the most power in all aspects. According to Davis he writes, [with] craftsmanship or intellectual prestige [it] indicates [your] social status (Davis 2). The more products you own, the greater your social status. The ruling class develop very little interest in the art world and their only motive is to gather more power. Davis claims the working class [and middle class] is controlled from above (Davis 4) for work. In a free market, the ruling class creates challenges for the middle class and working class to compete with each other for artistic labor. The middle class describes a person who uses their full potential to design individuality products for self support. Unlike the ruling ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. Analysis Of The Film Antwone Fisher Good Morning Gentleman and Ladies I appreciate the DA giving me an opportunity to speak to you. I have read the background information on your specific case. Today s presentation will present on overview of the research concerning false memories and how such findings could apply to this particular case. I will then outline some situations that are known to increase the likelihood of false memories and end with strategies that may reduce the occurrence of false memories By way of introduction and if you will indulge my brief nod to Hollywood this is often how the issue of memory is portrayed by popular media. In the 2002 film, Antwone Fisher, Denzel Washington plays a military psychologist who is tasked with evaluating the mental health of recently demoted seaman, Antwone Fisher. As the film goes on Denzel Washington discovers (along with the rest of us) Antwone Fisher s highly traumatized past. Through the cinematic use of multiple flashback scenes Antwone is gradually brought back to the scene of the crime seemingly remembering such details as the overall abuse in addition to the exact placement of holes in the wall or buckets on the floor or shirt he was wearing. In other words, the flashback scenes depict a kind of grand narrative of absolute truth that we, as viewers don t question. Antwone Fisher simply needed a nudge by a safe, albeit stern father figure in order to remember it all. Additionally the film is bookended by a dream sequence of a young ... • 6. Software As A Service ( Saas ) Abstract. Software as a service (SaaS) is becoming popular in the modern era of cloud computing. Most of the organizations prefer to use SaaS instead of on premise software applications. This brings the responsibility of supporting a large number of tenants by the software vendor. A good approach for handling multiple tenants is to implement multi tenant architecture for SaaS. Multi tenant SaaS application will run a single instance of the application for all the users while providing enough customization options to tenants so that they feel like they are working on a dedicated application. Nevertheless, implementing the multi tenant architecture effectively is a complex task as a lot of challenges and implications are involved in the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The benefits of SaaS that make it popular are as follows: No additional hardware costs: the processing power required to run the applica tions is supplied by the cloud provider. No initial setup costs: applications are ready to use once the user subscribes. Pay for what you use: if a piece of software is only needed for a limited period then it is only paid for over that period and subscriptions can usually be halted at any time. Usage is scalable: if a user decides they need more storage or additional services, for example, then they can access these on demand without needing to install new software or hardware. Updates are automated: whenever there is an update it is available online to ex isting customers, often free of charge. No new software will be required as it often is with other types of applications and the updates will usually be deployed automatically by the cloud provider. Cross device compatibility: SaaS applications can be accessed via any internet enabled device, which makes it ideal for those who use a number of different devices, such as internet enabled phones and tablets, and those who don t always use the same computer. Accessible from any location: rather than being restricted to installations on indi vidual computers, an application can be accessed from anywhere with an internet enabled device [15]. To get the maximum out of SaaS, another emerging characteristic called multi tenancy is needed to be ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 8. The Pros And Cons Of White Collar Crime Criminals walk amongst us everyday. When people hear the word criminal, murderer , robber , and arsonist , are what most people think of. No one thinks about the CEO of a billion dollar company, the everyday pharmacist, or even a trusted personal financial advisor. This is due to the respectability and high social status these occupations hold (Temchenko, 2016). Of the many crimes committed every year, white collar crimes are one of the most highest crimes committed because they are overlooked. On July 28, 2016 , 14 year old Bresha Meadows, who had no prior record of violence, was arrested and potentially up for a life sentence in prison for saving her family from more domestic abuse by shooting her father (Jeltsen, 2016) . In 2003 the former chairman and chief executive of MCSi Michael E. Peppel, who pleaded guilty to conspiracy, money laundering and filing false documents with the Securities and Exchange Commission was only sentenced to spend seven days in prison because Peppel was a remarkably good man . The charges against Peppel carry a minimum 8 year sentence (Henning, 2013). Sentencing disparities between white collar crimeversus street crime is a crime within itself and some form of justice needs to be served. Sentencing disparity is defined as a circumstance where alike cases are not treated similarly or different cases are not treated differently (Council of Europe, 1989). An example would be two men who each stole the same amount of items. Neither have ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

His mother was named Aurelia Cotta, who was a born noble. His father governed the province of Asia as a Praetor, he was also named Gaius Julius Caesar. There, he managed to be nominated as the High Priest of Jupiter. Not only did Caesar have to take part in patrician stock, he had to marry a patrician woman. He then became engaged to a woman named Cornelia. Cornelia was daughter of Lucius Cinna, high profile and powerful leader of the Populares . This marriage provoked fury in the, self declared Dictator, Sulla. He began a methodical elimination of foes and those who held to the Populare ideology. Cornelia s father was Sulla s political opponent. Because of this, Sulla targeted Caesar. He commanded that Caesar divorce his wife, or he would lose his property. Caesar refused and fled Rome, but his sentence was lifted intercession of his mother s family. Regardless, Caesars position as Priest was stripped and his wife s dowry was impounded. • 10. Rehabilitating a Historic Structure I have been chosen, as the employee of a house museum, to lead the task of rehabilitating a historic structure so that it will retain its historic integrity. This form of rehabilitating differs from restoring, preserving or reconstructing a structure, because there is the field of thought that structures need to retain their original integrity and be returned to the way in which they once stood. The following are a list of ways in which I would take this historic structure, and work to research and rehabilitate it to be an image of its original self or more closely visible to what it may have looked like in the past. The research will conclude what basic elements of the structure are the most important to maintaining the original integrity of the building, and which take precedent over other criteria. There are numerous steps and thoughts which an individual must consider when they are seeking to rehabilitate a structure which is to be a house museum. The old house journal gives thirty five tips for individuals who are seeking to rehabilitate an old home. Many of these could progress to become house museums or private households in the future, yet they give a fantastic idea into what needs to be considered when they are rehabilitated. Just as the old house journal wants to rehabilitate historic homes to their original state, the national park service states on their website under their section on restoring homes the expressed goal of the Standards for Restoration and ... This policy paper will briefly discuss the current state of our cybersecurity infrastructure. The terms of malicious traffic, liability and its forms will defined, key components will be introduced, the roles that the InternetService Provider (ISP), software producer, end user, operating systems developer play in this process will be examined and key legislation will be mentioned. • 12. The Fundamental Principle Of Concept Of Parsimony The most fundamental principle of behaviourism is the concept of parsimony. The law of parsimony, which can be known in other variations as the (Occam s Razor or Morgan s canon ) defines that explanations should In fact account for the greatest number of facts or observations, with the fewest number of principles or assumptions. (Underwood, 1957) When studying behaviourism, the Key concepts found are the stimulus and response also known as the (S R) equation. This involves classical and operant conditioning. These stimuli s allow the greatest possibility to manipulate independent variables in order to study the dependent variable. The measurable change in environment means that any event or situation may have some subsequent changes in behaviour to reinforce learning. Theorist John Broadus Watson (1913) was the first behaviourist to coin the ideas around behaviourism. He used contiguity to explain ideas and said that practice could strengthen ones learning. His approach to behaviourism was very parsimonious, using only a strict few simples to explain a variety of phenomena, e.g. The Little Albert experiment . The idea round the experiment was that by pairing a white rat (CS) with a loud bang (UCS) one could induce fear (UCR) which is known as classical conditioning. With these observable events Watson s was able to influence many theorists and their contributions to behaviourism. Firstly I refer to Skinner s work on ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In free enterprise economies, goods and services are traded openly and are produced depending on the demand. People who support this type of economy believe it motivates businesses to make money and welcome new ideas. An important part of the economy is to have full employment and low inflation. Keynesianism and monetarism are both ways to stabilize the economy and promote growth when need. Fiscal Policy is later used to develop a plan of yearly actions and is a long term way to stabilize the economy. The next idea to stabilize the economy is a theory called monetarism which is the belief that if government did not interfere with the market economy that employment would be high and inflation low. Followers believe the government is the reason of downturns such as the recent recession. Both of these policies, keynesianism and monetarism are important and supported by the citizens. These ideas of how economy should be conducted both want to ensure a stable economy for the people. That s where comparisons end and differences began. Monetarists want absolute freedom in the economy from government interference. They insist that Keynesianism causes the downturns because government it so worried about stabilizing the economy and doesn t let it fully growth. Keynestists believe government should help aid the economy and can track it s progress. Therefore a more structured policy is in place to provide aid in keeping stability from outside interferences. Homer Hickam lives in a small town named Coalwood in West Virginia when the Soviet Union launches the first satellite (Sputnik 1) into space in 1957. This fascinates Homer and he falls in love with the idea of building rockets. As he investigates rockets more, a few things happen: He blows up his mum s fence with one of his first prototypes, forms the amateur rocket agency Big Creek missile agency, has a fight with his dad and wins the science fair. The path that each of us chooses to take surrounds us with problems and obstacles that derogate the self confidencethat we have in ourselves away and leading us to distress. However, these problems that torment our mind are the reasons we learn the morality of self respect. • 18. Conclusion For Universal Health Care Premise 1: A universal health care system would reduce health care costs. Premise 2: Universal health care improves overall public health. Premise 3: Universal health care would encourage patients to practice preventive medicine. Premise 4: Healthcare would be affordable to all citizens if made universal. Conclusion: Therefore, implementing a universal health care system in our society would greatly benefit everyone. Reducing Health Costs With a universal health care system, the government would have control and run the system, therefore, the cost of healthcare would be regulated. A universal health care system would be regulated by the government, so costs overall would be reduced with a more monitored system to reduce inflated costs for tests, hospital stays and procedures. (Ireland, 2017) When you regulate medical costs, the cost of medical coverage, supplies, and prescriptions are more affordable for everyone. Improved Overall Public Health With universal healthcare being more affordable, everyone gets equal access to medical health care. This can lead to a reduction in the number of medical issues suffered by our society. According to Howard K. Koh, M.D., we can absolutely expect for overall public health to improve if we provide quality, affordable health care coverage for all Americans. (Cohen, 2009) This means people would miss less work and/or school. This also means that more people could be seen for some of the most basic ailments such as colds, ... Does damage caused by UV light affect DNA in both prokaryotic and eukaryotic cells alike? UV light at 260nm causes the most damage to DNA because that is the amount of light that DNA absorbs the most light. No, UV light does not affect both prokaryotic and eukaryotic cells the same way. For example, in eukaryotic cells there are three different ways DNA can be repaired (photoreactivation, post replication repair excision repair), whereas in prokaryotes excision repair mechanism is used. Explain how do pyrimidine dimers form. Pyrimidine dimers form when DNA is damaged by UV light and they form ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The damaged part of the DNA strand is nicked out by endonucleases that contain the dimer, which is then released from the DNA. After the fragment is released, DNA polymerase fills in the gap with a new strand and DNA ligase will close up the repaired strand. Are endospores more or less resistant to UV light than vegetative cells? What accounts for this increased or decreased resistance to UV light? Endospores are more resistant to UV light than vegetative cells. Endospores have an increased resistance to UV light because of the structure (exosporium) as well as the small acid soluble proteins found inside, which tightly bind and condense the DNA in the endospore. Develop a hypothesis for the experiment conducted. Be sure to include how the length of exposure to UV light and the ability to form endospores affects a cells susceptibility to UV light. (If it is easier you can form two hypotheses one about how lethality is connected to length of exposure to UV light, and another about how the susceptibility of endospores and vegetative cells to UV light. 1. If there is a longer length of time the bacteria is exposed to UV light, then more cells will be killed. 2. If the bacteria exposed to UV light can form endospores, then they are less susceptible to the effects of the UV light and can survive the conditions. In the linear dynamic procedure, the building is modelled as a multi degree of freedom (MDOF) system with a linear elastic stiffness matrix and an equivalent viscous damping matrix. Linear dynamic analysis is carried out by two methods: Response spectrum method Elastic time history method The corresponding internal forces and displacements are determined using linear elastic analysis. The advantage of these linear dynamic procedures with respect to linear static procedures is that higher modes can be considered. This approach is the most rigorous, and is required by some building codes for buildings of unusual configuration or of special importance. However, the calculated response can be very sensitive to the characteristics of the individual ground motion used as seismic input; therefore, several analyses are required using different ground motion records to achieve a reliable estimation of the probabilistic distribution of structural response. Since the properties of the seismic response depend on the intensity, or severity, of the seismic shaking, a comprehensive assessment calls for numerous nonlinear dynamic analyses at various levels of intensity to represent different possible earthquake scenarios. The land above them was submerged with endless pouring rain and deadly jungles. The sight of the sunwas a rare miracle that only happened once every seven years. The children spent all their life in the enclosed underground tunnels, well all except for one. Margot was the only child who came to Venus when she was four, and the biggest difference was that she still remembered the times when the glowing sun gave warmth and hope. The gloomy, enclosed environment affects everyone greatly. The message of the story shows how the environment and the people around you can affect you because of their own lack of experiences. The author portrays this when the children harass the main character, he also uses craft moves to show isolation of the main character, and how depressed she is as a result. Liquidity refers to the availability of cash in the near future after taking account of immediate financial commitments (also known as current liabilities). Cash in the near future will be available from bank deposits, cash released by sale of stocks and cash collected from customers. Immediate financial commitments are shown in current liabilities. The first ratio of liquidity is the current ratio, which is a simple comparison of current assets with current liabilities. As per IbisWorld, the industry benchmark for current ratio is 1.3 to 1 (7), which means that for every dollar committed in liabilities, companies have 1.3 in their assets. • 41. Relationship Between Gas Station Exercise On The People... With this course, I have learned that it is possible to dramatically improve my ability to negotiate. I can improve my monetary returns and feel better about myself and the people with whom I deal. I also learned that there are several ways to test my own intuition and approach. The course provided me with an opportunity to assess my instinctive bargainingstyle and provides suggestions for how to further develop my bargaining abilities. The negotiation exercises was a good way to cement several of the concepts from the book and lecture and gave me several opportunities to get to know my classmate more and test some new insights with them. Gas station exercise: my team shouldn t have been too worried about the other station s profits. We should only have been concerned about maximizing our own profits. Even though our profits depend on both our choices in pricing and the choices of the other station. However, our main concern should be our own profit picture. If the other team do well or do poorly, that shouldn t be a big concern of ours. You should simply do as well as you can to boost your own profits as much as you can. At the start of the game, we had a plan and actually documented the minimum amount we expected to make and wrote this down. We also agreed on who would go to meet with the other team to let them know our position. The preparation gave us the peace of mind that comes with having a game plan. The level of the total amount of resources required to comfortably stage the Olympic Games has greatly been increased by the consistent increment of the number of events, officials, participants and the media viewers. Currently the 20016 Olympic budgets are estimated to be around $33 billion. The economic risks that face both the international organizing committee and the host city (Rio de Janeiro, Brazil) have been increased by the increase in scale of Olympic movement. The gradual increase in cost and revenue over the years has resulted to potential losses increasing proportionally to the potential gains (D agati, 2013). • 43. Netflix And Vs. Hulu The idea of this show would work best with Netflix and or Hulu. Netflix would be the best fit as their catalog has a wider range of choices and are more experimental in their stories than typical mainstream media. Their budget is also higher which I believe would be an added benefit for a show like this that would be shooting on location more so than on a soundstage, or at least for the city exteriors. The form of the show would not be a typical sitcom camera set up but more like how Netflix shoots Master of None (2015 present) or Unbreakable: Kimmy Schmidt (2015 present). I feel like the camera would be less static and more cinematic. There would be longer tracking shots to give the audience a sense of being there with these characters. The story is meant to be intimate and that they are there with Julianna, going through these struggles life throws at her. A typically, sitcom set feels as though the audience is looking into the characters lives versus being immersed into the story itself. The eight to thirteen episodes seems like a better fit for this type of a comedy as well. Instead of trying to stretch out a season of twenty something episodes it makes more sense to try and keep the story line conscious and building off of each other. In recent years tv shows have stopped being episodes that can be stand alone. A viewer cannot just tune in to any random episodeof say Stranger Things () and understand what is happening. Andrew Carnegie and the the Second Industrial Revolution Andrew Carnegie, the King of Steel , the benevolent employer, the giant of industry, was among the greatest influences of the second industrial revolution. It is sometimes questioned whether Carnegie was the ruthless, sneaky steel tyrant some made him out to be, or the generous, benevolent education benefactor he appeared to be. I believe him to be a combination of both, but more so the great giant of industry. Carnegie was the classic rags to riches story, the penniless immigrant who made it big in the land of opportunity. Carnegie said that the man who dies rich, dies disgraced. This is a greedy, unselfish philosophy that a robber baron could not conceive. Without Carnegie, the steel industry, and the second industrial revolution in general, would never have progressed as much as it did. Carnegie did what was necessary to make the steel industry more productive and more efficient, for less money. He was a shrewd, ruthless, businessman who s aggressiveness made the steel, railroad, and oil industries so economically successful. These characteristics, though not always looked upon as nice or sympathetic, were sometimes necessary. He had paid his time as a poor factory boy, and now it was his turn to live comfortably and aid others less fortunate to work towards the same success. Willa Cather s My Antonia In her novel My Antonia, Willa Cather, while writing in a sexist time, calls attention to the power of the female in life and society through Antonia, Lena Lingard, Tiny Soderball and Frances Harling and accentuates and celebrates the significance of the matriarchal world by use of Jim Burden as the narrator. Jim holds an enlightened consciousness of the femalebecause, after spending most of his life with these women, he sees how they started with nothing ended with a successful life. In a time when women were expected to be subordinate to men, Cather s female characters defy the stereotype and prove their self reliance and independence with the accomplishment of a prosperous life. The strength of the female is primarily revealed to Jim through Antonia, whose determination and confidence show to him that despite her struggles, she continues to give birth to multiple children which further triumphs her challenges that led to successes. Since most women are accompanied by a malein life, Lena proves that even with their absence, success can come from female independence. Frances serves as a more obvious explanation to how females thrived in a non supported environment because she has the same job as many men, but victoriously triumphs over them. By declining the conform to the typical female role, Antonia, Lena, Frances, and Tiny advocate to the female character their importance in life and society, showing that their absence would be virtually useless to males.Antonia ... Looking back to the history of live statues, it has been seen that this form of art has existed since the medieval and Renaissance times where live statues were a regular feature of festivities and royal entries by rulers during that era. The living statue has also been dated to appear in a scene of the 1945 French film, Les enfants du paradis (Children of Paradise). In the modern century, a German dancer Olga Desmond put on Evenings of Beauty (SchГ¶nheitsabende) in which she posed in imitation of classical works of art.
