The Symbolic Interactionalism Theory Of Hate Crime
Hate crimes are difficult to fathom, primarily because they involve the unprovoked physical
attacking and, sometimes, murder of people based on race and ethnicity. A more formal
definition of hate crimes is presented by Shepard (2017, p. 285). As he writes, a hate crime is a
criminal act that is motivated by extreme prejudice, This is a very good, concise and accurate
definition, nevertheless, hate crimes are not the outcome of unimaginable heights of discrimination.
Most people have prejudices and many have stereotypes regarding others, whether it be racial or
class stereotypes. Nobody is completely lacking in any form, shape or type of prejudice but, the
much greater percentage does not physically attack, beat or murder those whom they... Show more

Between 2006 to 2017, as reported by O Reilly, hate crimes targeting Muslims has increased by an
outstanding 91%. The average increase in all forms of hate crimes rose by 41% between 2016 2017
(Farivar, 2017). Hence, inarguable statistics and numbers establish a very high rate of increase in
hate crimes, most especially during 2016 2017, coinciding with the campaign and subsequent
election of Donald Trump. There are many theories of crime, with criminologists, psychologist and
sociologists, debating whether criminality is an an outcome of nature, as in genetically inherited, or
produced by nurture (Brinkerhoff, White and Ortega, 2011). Even though the debate is ongoing,
most criminologists, sociologists and psychologists agree that cases in which criminality is linked
to nature, are extremely rare. Instead, they emphasise, criminality as a product of nurture
(Brinkerhoff, White and Ortega, 2011). This means that people who commit heinous hate crimes
were presumably raised in an environment which expressed extreme prejudice towards a certain
racial, ethnic or religious group and truly believed that the world would be a better place without
them in it, or, at least, without them living in the United States (Brinkerhoff, White and Ortega,
2011). As indicated, hate crimes can be explained through the use of theory and, one such theory is
the symbolic interactionism theory. As criminologists were engaged in attempting to

Child Support Hearing
This week I had the pleasure of sitting in on five hearings. On Monday Magistrate Akel allowed
me to observe a child support hearing where both parties were living in Iowa. The initial order
was given while the couple lived in Florida. When the father moved to Iowa he was ordered to pay
$509.00 dollars a month in child support. The mothersent the child to Iowa to visit his father for a
week but the child never came back to Florida. While the child was in the father s custody he
continued to pay child support to the mother. During the hearing, the father wanted to ensure that
his ex wife placed the money that she owed him into a depository account. The attorney
representing the father pointed out that she was behind in paying him back. The attorney as well as
the father believed that the she was using the money to support her other children. The mother
claimed that all of the money that she owed her ex husband was already in the depository.
Magistrate Akel made sure that the mother was aware that if the money was not there she would be
held in contempt of court.
The next hearing involved timesharing. The mother and father could not agree on a schedule that
was best for the child. The mother was concerned that the father was not bonding enough because

The hearing that I thought was very interesting involved an eighteen year old who committed a
crime when he was seventeen. He was intoxicated when he shot a fourteen year old in the abdomen.
The charges that were brought against him were being in possession of a firearm and manslaughter
with a deadly weapon. The State found him guilt on these charges and offered the defendant a plea
deal with a sentence of 10 years. Based on the points that the defendant accumulated, the mandatory
minimum for the crimes he committed were 25 years. His attorney attempted to reduce the sentence

The Chart Above Displays The Known Ancestors Of John...
The chart above displays the known ancestors of John Bigony Rex. The Bigony, Rex, Knauss
and Tibben lines reaches the furthest back in time to European births in the 1600 s. The circles
represent roots of the American dream, when men and women alike risked all to journey across
an ocean to a distant land called America. It was a time of kings, war and persecution. Our brave
forefathers were farmers, blacksmiths, fishermen and laborers. Regardless of their humble start,
they became the building blocks for what will become a shining beacon of hope that transformed
our world. John Bigony Rex grew up with the fading grandchildren of a group of Revolutionary
War soldiers in Roxborough Pa. during the 1870 s. Stories of William... Show more content on

Henry Tibben represented hundreds of farmers growing up along the Dutch and German border
in independent Bentheim county. He firmly believed that hard work, religious freedom and the
spirit of man could create a superior world for all people. To that aim, he took full advantage of
his schooling, mastering not only reading, but writing and accounting. Optimism filled his soul
like the fresh paintings hanging in the museums. He expected the future will harbor better things
than just quiet farming. In that spirit, he never accepted the limits of digging peat or milking
cows, or practicing a religion he did not profess to. His exploring mind always asked questions,
often to the annoyance of his mentors, building a dream for himself and his descendants that only
America could foster. A test of Henry s grit came during the 1670 s when a dark spirit spread
across Holland. French King Louis sent legions of horses, cannons and nights across the Rhine
River into the flat, peat fields of the Dutch frontier. Other Catholic allies soon joined in the rampage,
sending Protestants into a panic. Rape, pillaging and infernos followed their movement north
toward the Tibben farm; the unprepared Dutch armies retreated or surrendered. His Dutch
neighbors called 1672 the The Year of Disaster. The Tibbens worshiped in a church that many
Catholic leaders despised, The Dutch Reform Church. The Tibben farm resided along the Dutch and

Alcohol And Substance Abuse And The National Minimum...
Since alcohol and substance abuse have come into play, along with health issues, and emotional
issues in peoples lives, questions started to arise. One being the legal age to start drinking
alcohol. The national minimum drinking age act was signed on July 17th, 1984 to the law, with
the drinking age at minimum being 21 (Archer M.D.). An adult is any person who s reached the
age of maturity as directed by law (Archer M.D.). Legally, being 18 years old in the U.S. is
considered to be the adult age, but the consumption of alcohol has always been withheld from the
young adults of today, until the age of 21. When you re 18 year old, you can apply for a credit
card, legally marry whoever you may want without parental consent, divorce, rent,... Show more

At the same time, moderate drinking helps lower levels of cholesterol and prevents colds, unless
the drinker smokes tobacco, meaning moderate drinking with care can be seen as not harmful
when done by responsible adults (Pringle). Even though 18 is the adult age in the U.S. 18 19 is
still technically the teenager age and teens are said to be at a more extreme risk than adults
would be to die in a car crash, partially because of alcohol s stronger effects on lighter people
(Pringle). Should 18 be the legal age for alcohol consumption? Although denying young adults to
alcohol may seem unfair, 21 should be the legal age for alcohol consumption in the U.S. rather than
18, because of the overall improved death and health rates shown as the outcome.
Currently in the U.S. the legal drinking age is at 21, an age that many people believe is fair. In the
U.S. more than 25k lives have been saved because of the 21 minimum legal drinking age
(Madd). Although health facts and opinions all have their own facts, the statistics don t lie.
Even with 18 20 year olds legally being accepted as adults, this age group is still more likely to
illegally drink because they re so close to the legal age. But those who start drinking before the
age of 21 are more likely to be involved in violent behaviors, attempt suicide, have unprotected
sex, develop alcoholic problems, and more (Pringle). On top of this, drinking at a young age
greatly increases the risk of developing alcohol

Germany Political Structure and Economy
After the World War II, the winner of the war divided Germany and its capital, Berlin, among
themselves. East Germany, a brand new country that promised to show the world why socialism
was the best political system, was occupied and controlled by The Soviet Union. West Germany,
called the Federal Republic, was occupied by the Americans, British and French, who would
establish a new democratic government that stood in direct opposition to Communism. Because of
the citizen s emigration to West Germany, East Germany government decided to seal the border to

Second, Article 106, Section 3.2 of the Basic Law requires the entire political system to guarantee a
uniformity of living standards across the country (Ibid). These two articles provide a foundation for
the Länder to fulfill their duties and to work with the federal government to insure the
requirement of uniform living standards. In essence, proportionality requires that governments and
agencies must take legitimate actions that are the least intrusive or limiting upon a citizen s basic
rights.
We all know that Germany s army has always been a big power in the world throughout history.
However, they had lost their power after the WWII and their country was divided by the winner
of the war. After a lot of struggle through the cold war, the army has now again emerged as one
of the best equipped armies of the world...The military armament of the German army is
enormous. Bundeswehr, the German army, is one now of the most powerful and technically
advanced armies in the world. It also has one of the best infrastructure and war machinery. .

military service. German s army is getting involved in a lot of military operations in the world.

My Experience Of Gender As A Minority Male Of Saudi Arabia...
When I tell people, friends or family that I have to write a paper about my experience of gender,
they just laugh at that. They think there is not much to it. Nonetheless, my personal experience of
gender is rather a more complex than meets the eye. Having lived two patriarchal societies one
extreme and one that is drifting away from patriarchy I have had to deal with a lot. It is not all
advantage and privilege to be a heterosexual male, it has many negativities and pressures. Especially
if by your nature, you struggle to fit into the societal designated genderroles. In this paper, I will

Central Asian Turkic origins from my father s side. My family had lived in the Hijaz area for

Western Arabia was historically a cosmopolitan independent region, due to the ethnic and racial
diversity of its population, the Hijazi major cities were relatively more progressive and liberal
than the rest of Arabia. In the context of this paper, this is significant for many reasons, as a non

Regulations Of Capital Investment Products
2. Analyze Regulations in Venture Capital
2.1 In this part, we will put up some typical regulations to analyze whether they are available or
necessary. If possible, we may give some advices to develop these regulations.
BASEL III Requirements and REPO Availability
On Jan 1st, 2014, Basel III regulations show the effectiveness on banks with more than $250B in
total consolidated assets or greater than $10B in foreign exposure. These large banks are important
issuers of repurchase agreements, the capital investment vehicle for the overmuch funds in venture
capital firms. Generally, the US government or a Federal Agency issue or guarantee collateral used
in these transactions, and the agreements reset each day.
In addition, the supply of this high quality collateral has reduced because of the asset purchase plan
of the Federal Reserve. Totally, high quality collateralizes the availability of repo, low risk
securities may diminish over the near term, resulting in a shift towards lower quality, higher risk
collateral for longer terms. We might see the development of alternative interest bearing investment
products as a result of this potential shortfall in repo inventory.

Traction Alopecia In Children
Children are just as susceptible to traction alopecia as adults are. The causes of traction alopecia
in children are similar to grown ups. Hairstyles such as pigtails, cornrows and braiding the hair
can cause hair loss in kids. When a child s hair is repeatedly styled tightly, over a period of time hair
follicles become damaged and incapable of producing healthy hairs. The hair folliclemay become so
damaged that it stops producing hairs altogether. Hair loss occurs in the areas of the scalp that are
pulled the most, usually at the front hair line, the nape of the neck and crown.
Traction alopecia in children can be treated in a similar fashion to the way it is treated in adults. In

Getting into the habit of gently massaging the child s scalp will speed up their hair regrowth. It is
best to use a lubricating agent such as oil to eliminate any friction which may cause further
damage to the scalp or hair follicles. Bhringaraj oil or virgin coconut oil make excellent massage
oils for the scalp and can also double up as deep conditioning hair treatments.
Following these rules will ensure more hair doesn t fall out because of the excessive force applied
to the hair follicles and that further harm isn t caused to the follicles by the use of inappropriate hair
products. Stick with gentle products and stimulate hair growth by increasing scalp circulation
through regular massages to give the hair follicles a chance to heal themselves and start producing

Organization s Value ChainAnalysis
Value Chain analysis evaluates each step business goes through from inception to finality. The goal
is to maximize the value for the total cost. Costco s mission is to provide their members with
quality goods and services at the lowest possible prices. The company s mission, values and
strategies suggest Costco uses a broad enterprise strategy which fits in the societal framework. To
ensure employee motivation, Costco offers them a unique banquet of benefits. This include; paying
health benefits for them, 50% higher wage, employee retention of over 90 percent, and maintaining
employees even during recession periods (Costco, 2010). The Company s strength is its primary
value chains which split into two distinct functions: Demand fulfilment and Demand generation.
Demand fulfilment includes input logistics, operations, and output logistics. Demand generation
involves sales, marketing, and service department which breaks down into sub tiers. Costco s
support activities include HRM, technology development, firm infrastructure and procurement.
Costco s weaknesses are difficult to pinpoint; one weakness is persistent low operating profit
margins. Bigger profits can occur by not paying employee benefits and with demanding higher
returns from their suppliers. The problem would be at what cost? Costco receives cost advantages
from value adding major (brand items) activities. However, it continues to experience a challenge

Essay about Home Schooling
Home Schooling
Home Schooling in the United States is on the rise. In the 1980 s home schooling was a choice
that parents could make with their children if they so desired. By the early 1990 s about three
hundred thousand children were in a home school environment. Today there are about two million
students being taught at home. Children being taught at home are increasing by a rate of seven to
fifteen percent every year. Home schooling is a choice every parent has to make; these days more
and more parents are choosing to educate at home. When choosing to educate at home it is

Now this child scores in the top percentile of standardized testing. He is also two grade levels ahead
of his age group (Gershaw).
Another pro of home schooling is the idea of religious freedom. Religion is very important to
many families. Some parents do not feel that parochial schools will provide their child with the
information needed to worship properly. Other families practice odd or unpopular religions which
are not taught in schools of any type. Many extremely religious families choose to home school for
the mere fact the school systems do not teach religion to the level of importance in which they find
it to be.
Although home schooling may appear as a good idea there are some negative aspects you should
take into consideration too. The first problem with being home schooled is the lack of interaction
with the diverse world. The reason this is a problem is that children will not get to meet and learn
from different ethnicities and cultures. The child will only be listening to his or her parent s or
instructor s ideas and viewpoints on different ideas and different issues in the world which may
leave the child ignorant or bias depending on his or her instructor s orientation on matters. If the
parent has ignorant views on a situation this could be inherited and passed on to the child.
Home schooling poses time restraints. This would be a huge problem for a single parent because it
would not be possible for the parent to work and then

He Has His Mother s Eyes is a phrase presented on the image that means that the mother and the
son are both being physically abused. When the mother is being mistreated, the child would also
experience this mistreatment when trying to protect her. The statement concluded through the
phrase given and most importantly, by the boy having an injury on the left side of his eye of
some type of physical force. The area in which the injury has occurred is done by someone,
because it is hard to get that specific area injured by objects. When someone falls face forward, the
bruising would happen to the forehead or the cheeks because our eyes are concave, or slightly in the
skull. In addition, the bruising around the eye is unique because it is commonly associated with
physical actions, like the hand. The importance of this is that it shows the mistreatment of a mother
and a young son by an individual. This mistreatment is illegal in this country regardless of age. The
mistreatment of family members, like the mother and son, goes against the American ideal.

The trays need to be removed for eating, drinking, and some sports, while traditional braces are

Every two weeks, patients will have a new series of trays. Visits to the provider won t happen that

New Believer Research Paper
In today s society, there is an impending question amongst many Christians. Should Christians
read the bible every day? I believe it is necessary to read the bible most of the time. Although,
when it comes down to the how often you read, this is based on a person s overall walk with
God. Whether the person is a new believer, a weak believer, or strong believer the amount they
read the bibleis based upon this.
As a new believer, I believe it is a must that a person reads the bible as close to every day as
possible. I remember when my parents first came to Christ, they would read the bible. Not just
because they wanted to, but they were hungry for the word and wanted to dive head first into it.
This is not bad at all don t get me wrong. With them being new believers, they are going to try to
soak up the Word like someone sipping out of a straw. They want to read this life changing book
that Christians talk about so much. Compare it to this, a little boy walks into a candy store and
buys some candy. The Mom says that he can eat it right away, so the kid rips the wrapper off as
quickly as he can and shoves the candy in his mouth. That is kind of how a new believer is with
the bible. They shove their whole face into the bible to taste its sweet joy.... Show more content on

in their life and uses the Word to help with everyday things. The Word of Godis so strong in them
that they can quote whatever scripture they need to help them or help others in a time of need.
These people would be like the candy store worker. Their job in the store is to help that kid that

Relationship Between Bitter Flavors And Bitter Flavor
Abstract
The realization of this experiment had as main objective to show the relationship between the bitter
flavor in spinach and the bitter flavor in Phenylthiocarbamide (PTC). In many past studies about
this relationship the results have shown that there is a significant difference between the bitter taste
in some vegetables and the bitter flavor present in PTC (Sandell Breslin,2006). In order to
approve or disapprove this hypothesis 19 students in the same class were tested to see if they
tasted the bitter flavor in spinach. The spinach leaves were blended with mango juice using a
blender machine. The result of this part of the experiment were recorded in a table to be
analyzed. The results showed that 26.3% of the subjects were super tasters of the spinach
(indicating that they tasted the bitter flavor). In contrast about 73.7% of the same subjects were
considered to be super tasters for the PTC (grading the bitter flavor 4 or 5 in a 5 scale; being 5
the maximum for bitterness). In conclusion it can be say that this two results were not very related.
This experiment can be used to further analyze how some vegetables may have bitter flavor and
not be correlated to the bitter taste in PTC.
Introduction

instrument to test taste sensitivity to bitter flavor (Kim Drayna, 2004). In the early 1930s a chemist

Reflection Paper On Oncology

November 20, 2017
It all began in 2013. It was a completely normal day. I woke up and followed my daily routine:
brush my teeth, put on my clothes, and went to school. Little did I know, that would be the day that
changed everything. I found out that my uncle Danny had been diagnosed with lung cancer. The
chemo originally worked and he went into remission. After a few months of remission, the
doctors said he would have a few months to live. After he passed away, I couldn t talk to him. I
couldn t see him anymore. He was just gone. Cancer ended the life of someone very precious to
me and his death sparked the beginning of my desire to battle this disease.
When making a list of what I already knew about oncology, I found that there was very little I
knew about this topic. I knew that there were three main types of oncologists: medical, surgical,
and radiation. Those different types of oncologists treat cancer patients by using chemotherapy,
biopsies, and radiation therapy. In addition to his information, I knew that oncology was among

The Pros And Cons Of Indentured Servants
When Europeans first came to the New World they were stunned to see how cheap land was and
how expensive labor was. Many of these settlers relied on Indentured servants and Indians as
cheap labor but this came with many disadvantages. Indentured servants carried too high a price
for farmers who raised crops for subsistence. ( The American Journey Ch. 3, Pg.78) Another
disadvantage to using indentures servants was that they only worked long enough to repay the
debt they had. Using Indians also came with an array of problems. One of the most blaring
problems was the death rate. Many Native Americans died from diseases that the settlers brought
with them and some of them died from being overworked with made the death rate sky rocket. Men

The Four Main Causes Of World War One
Pro: The United States was successfully able to end WW1. The Great War was a conflict that
occurred in 1914 between the Triple Alliance (Germany, Italy, Austria Hungary) and the Triple
Entente (Britain, France, Russia). The four main causes were militarism, alliance, imperialism, and
nationalism, which concentrated on the forms of management. The alliance was built between
foreign nations in case of a conflict due to the great amount of tension and interests of surpassing

always getting bullied at school. He had no friends. Until one day, a boy who had a small body
for his age had an ornithopter (an aircraft that flaps its wings) that was stuck in a tree. Maxwell
got the ornithopter from the tree and returned it to the little boy. He introduced himself as Kevin
but Maxwell thought of calling him Freak instead, because of his intellectual brain. Freak was a

Max was scared and he kept dreaming about the moment when his father steps into the house to
kidnap him away. On the night of Parole, that dream had become reality. Max s father kidnapped
Max away quietly from his grandparents and took him away to Loretta s house. Every night, he
would tie up Max s hands and legs. He would also put tape over Max s mouth to avoid him from
screaming. Max had to go through a lot of pain. Whenever Killer Kane would ask Max a
question about trusting him, Max had to always answer with a yes, because he was too scared
to say no. Max had to go through so much trouble with his father. One night, Max s father left
Max tied up because he had to meet Iggy who was his best friend. Loretta came to the rescue and
untied Max and told him that Iggy is distracting Killer Kane so Max can escape. Out of nowhere,
Killer Kane tried to choke Loretta to the death, but then Max screamed out that he saw him kill
his mother the same way he was trying to kill Loretta. Killer Kane was angry so he grabbed Max

The Social Cognitive Theory Of Moral Disengagement
In 1986, Albert Bandura explored the concept of moral disengagement and its involvement in
individuals accepting and encouraging the act of violence and other immoral activities while
justifying their behavior. Moral disengagement, a term from social psychology, is the notion that
focuses on the process in which an individual convince themselves that their morals or ethical
standards do not apply to a certain situation. When this occurs, the individual has disabled the
mechanism of self condemnation and is separating themselves from their morals and acting in
inhumane ways. Many people disengage themselves from their morals in certain situations because
they feel their actions are justified, or they defuse the responsibility to others and believe that
someone else will take charge. The purpose of this paper is to explore the social cognitive theory
of moral disengagement and how well it does at explaining why humans detach themselves from
their moralityand justify their misconduct, contrary to the rationalist, psychological and socio
structural theories. Based on the book Everybody Does It by Thomas Gabor (1994), the
universality of moral disengagement is seen in all kinds of people from all kinds of statuses and
ways of life. Many psychological theories regarding morality have concentrated on the formal
character of moral reasoning to the neglect of moral conduct. In the social cognitive theory of
moral self, reasoning based on morals is linked to moral actions via

Reflection Paper On Powerpoint
Learning about PowerPoint has been very stimulating for me; unit five has taught me a lot. I love
to use Microsoft PowerPoint, but until this unit, I did not fully understand how to use all of the
functions in Microsoft PowerPoint. I love the whole unit, so singling out three things will be hard
for me. I work as a Manager, and I am often preparing presentations. The three items in Microsoft
PowerPointthat I know I will apply to my everyday life are, Notes, Numbered list, and Charts. I
think through the whole unit these features were the ones that made me say, ok I will use that
for my upcoming presentation. Below I will explain why I chose each one of these functions.
First, I chose the Notes Function. The note section was a big deal for me. I usually write my
notes down in a notebook before my presentations. The problem I ran into was, I would always
get lost. I tried putting little symbols at the bottom of the page for talking points. The problem
here was, I could never remember what the talking point was about once I got to the symbol.
When I tried Microsoft PowerPoint Notes, I found I was no longer fumbling between papers
(Carlson, 2010). I loved it because I just stood and clicked no more papers. The Notes function
allows you to put information on the slides that you want to share that the audience cannot see
(Wiley Sons Inc, 2014). Notes are now my new Favorite function of the week. Second, The Charts
function is essential and vitally important to my

Positive Effects Of Gentrification
Many cities have been rejuvenated throughout the world. Santa Ana located in California, has
been one of the victims of gentrification. The most affected area is Downtown Santa Ana. Fourth
Street has been used to exemplify how gentrification works. Downtown Santa Ana has been
almost completely modified. Gentrification has it s positive effects just like it has it s negative
effects. The negative consequences include displacement, loss of cultural identity, and
increasing rent. First of all, one of the reasons to why gentrifiers should stop the process of
modifying cities is displacement. Displacement is a bad consequence because buildings are
being placed in a bad neighborhood. For example, Source 4 includes a link to a poem about a
crime that took place in the San Francisco s mission district, three latino immigrants were brutally
beat and injured by a white man with a crowbar. He is the owner of a brand new bar on 16th
street. A man named Paul Flores wrote a poem to address the problems that gentrification has
caused in our cities. In his poem he repeatedly asks, Are you doing that crowbar thing? He then
mentions, Doing that Forget about El Centro del Pueblo thing and volunteer at the pirate store
instead thing? This is clearly a great example of displacement being a consequence of gentrification.
The gentrifiers are so concentrated on making money but don t realize that placing a building with a
completely different background than the rest, can result in

The Problem Of Drug Addicts
Currently, the society is employing a significant amount of money and efforts to deal with the
continuous increasing of drug addicts within their roots. In fact, the drug problem can be
considered by the majority as the greatest problem of the 21th century. Just look, on how it
worsened in the last years. Now, it seems that the range of consumers has expanded, and now is
embracing almost all ages and classes. In fact, the teens are making the drugs seem like a fashion
trend, in which those who do not follow it will be excluded. Considering this fact, and relating it to
the need of the human being to feel accepted by the society or a group, helps to understand why the
number of drugaddicts is increasing.

Considering the criteria cited above, I had two ideas a comic book or a videogame; but, in the
attempt of minimizing as much as possible the costs of the proposal, without compromising the
effectiveness of the same, I chose the comic book.
I Previous Solution Surely, because of the severity of the drug problem, several solutions were
extrapolated and implemented in the attempt to deal with it. However, ones were more efficient
than others, but at the same time, none of them represented a real solution for a long time project.
For instance, in the article The War On Drugs ... , written by Ewan Hoyle, which is the founder of
the Liberal Democrats for Drug Policy Reform, there are several solutions to deal with the drug
problem, but each one of them has its constraints (303). One of them, and it was the chosen solution
by the author, included a treatment with diamorphine, which is a pharmaceutical drug that changes
the neurological system and inhibit the desires of the consumer (303). Even though it seems an
extreme measure, the article showed that it carried a high percentage of success on the sample
trials. On the other hand, such measure seems to carry a lot of constraints related to the costs. For
the costs, even Hoyle stated that this treatment was expensive (304). In his attempt, to back up it,
Hoyle stated that the government must do a revision of its policies in a way that facilitate the

The Lesson By Toni Bambara Analysis
If you live in America your life should be better, fuller and richer for everyone, but if you belong
in the working class or the poor class, this might still be impossible. You might be able to have a
job, a place to live, but you will not be able to have all the other resources the upper class has. For
example, time off from work, vacations, education, or even afford you own house, this might be the
biggest struggles for working families. This paper will examine how minorities in, The Lesson and

Controversy In Shakespeare s Restless World
William Shakespeare is a name familiar to nearly every English speaking person. He is known
as a poet, playwright and actor, and is widely regarded as one of the greatest writers in the
English language. While many people might know a thing or two about Shakespeare, does
anyone stop to think about what the world was like around him? What kind of trials and
tribulations did the people of that Era have to face? What type of people did Shakespearian
productions attract? The book, Shakespeare s Restless World, answers these questions by using the
history behind certain objects from this era. Within the book, there are different objects that
represent events or people who surrounded Shakespeare, such as, the Stratford Chalice represents
political and religious controversy, the brass handed iron fork from the rose theatre represents the
audience, and the failed flags for Great Britain represent political controversy. The Stratford Chalice

EXPOSITORY Tourists are rejecting the traditional holiday vacations in favour of experiencing
different places and activities. Why might this be?
Family vacations used to be the go to trip for any given time to travel, but as generations advance
the destinations of holiday vacations have evolved alongside society. The mindset of the world
today has caused people to reject traditional holiday vacations for new experiences. These new
experiences can range anywhere from going to exotic places like Jamaica to Greece to just
staying home. There is a reason for all of this change, such as the lack of financial stability, the
increase in technology and social media, and different kinds of people with their diverse views.
Traveling is expensive, and financial issues have begun to cause the downfall of most vacations.
People cannot afford to go and see their family, so they stay home on vacations known as
staycations. These staycations are a new experience for a lot of people because they are not going
anywhere on their vacation time, which is unusual for them. One reason for this is that student
loans have gone up tremendously in recent years and before people can worry about going on
vacation, they must pay back these debts. These loans can last a lifetime, and instead of worrying
about them forever they postpone their vacations, so

The Third And Last Pillar Of The German Banking System Essay
Commercial Banks The third and last pillar of the German banking system consists of commercial
banks also known in the third pillar as the market discipline. The third pillar gives out more public
disclosure and reporting requirements, compared to the other two pillars, with its increased
transparency. The amount of this increased disclosure is for giving the public and also the global
market a more comprehensible vision of where the bankstands in terms of risk. (Feig) With
Universal banks being the more common type, responsible for about 75 % of all transactions
carried out in the banking sector, these banks offer a greater amount of financial services and are
more varied than services of the specialized banks. These commercial banks offer typical banking
services such as setting up and watching over clients checking and savings accounts, process their
payments, lending money to clients, and as well as issuing bonds to clients. As of today, there lies
roughly about 300 private banks all throughout Germany. It was only until the crisis in 2008 where
five major banks used to dominate the whole entire private sector. These five banks were
Hypovereinsbank, Deutsche Postbank AG, Deutsche Bank, Commerzbank, and Dresdner Bank.
Those five banks are more internationalized than any other banks in the private sector that primarily
focus on business clients and the markets fluctuation activities. (Hassan) During the crisis in 2008,

Harms of Watching Television
There are benefits to watching TV like gaining minimal knowledge, but in comparison to how
harmful it can be that small amount of knowledge isn t worth it. Also television can harm a child s
development, encourage laziness, and cause you to obtain an addiction to it. There are so many
things that you can damage when you watch TV on a regular basis, why do this to yourself?
To begin, the first few years of life are very critical for a child s development, why ruin it by
using a TV as a babysitter? Research states that children who are always watching TV, or even
just have it on as background noise, aren t as likely to develop Theory of mind . Theory of mind
is the idea that you aren t the only one that has a mind. Since you can t actually see someone else
s mind it s only logical to base it off of you having one , it allows people to come to the realization
that other people have beliefs and desires different from their own, children who are constantly
exposed to television have a more likely risk of not developing this which can lead to autism,
schizophrenia, and other such things. To add, children who are always watching TV are more
likely to form an attention disorder and this can result in academic and social trouble. These
disabilities can lead to a very challenging life that might have been avoidable if you tried to help
them walk, develop speech, and obtain reading skills, instead of just sitting them in front of a TV

Posttraumatic Stress Disorder
Posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) can be a very serious and debilitating condition that occurs
after a person has been exposed to a terrifying event or ordeal in which grave physical danger
happened or was threatened. The kinds of traumatic events triggering PTSD in people include
violent personal assaults (rape, mugging), natural disasters (hurricanes, tornadoes), man made
disasters (bombings), accidents or military combat. People who suffer from PTSD often relive the
experience through nightmares and flashbacks, have difficulty sleeping, and feel detached or

Rates of PTSD are much higher in post conflict settings such as Algeria (37%), Cambodia (28%),
Ethiopia (16%), and Gaza (18%)(de Jong et al., 2001).
The first stressor criterion specifies that a person has been exposed to a catastrophic event involving
actual or threatened death or injury. The second criterion, or intrusive recollection, includes
symptoms that are distinctive and easily identified of PTSD. These emotions manifest in daytime
fantasies, traumatic nightmares, and psychotic reenactments know as flashbacks. The third criteria,
avoidant/numbing, consists of symptoms that reflect behavioral, cognitive, or emotional strategies
the PTSD patients use in an attempt to reduce the likelihood that they will expose themselves to
trauma related stimuli. The fourth criteria, hyper arousal, most closely resembles those seen in
panic and generalized anxiety disorders. While symptoms such as insomnia and irritability are
generic anxiety symptoms, hyper vigilance and startle are more characteristic of PTSD. The fifth
criteria, duration, specifies how long symptoms must persist in order to qualify for a PTSD
diagnosis. The last criteria, functional significance, specify that the survivor must experience
significant social, occupational, or other distress as a result of these symptoms. Since 1980, there

The Themed Land Concept Of Parks
The Themed Lands Concept
All Disney theme parks are designed based on themed lands. In each land, the theme is reflected in
the surrounding infrastructure, the appearance of employees, the character of food and other
franchises, and the entertainment (Curwen, 1995, p.15). The original Disneyland in California was
designed with a land that acts as a throughway to guide guests to the castle, Main Street, USA.
From the castle, the other themed lands jut out like spokes of a wheel with the castle being the
main focal point of the theme park. The Magic Kingdom in Orlando, Tokyo Disneyland, Disneyland
Paris, and Hong Kong Disneyland all follow the same original layout of the park in California.
Most of the theme parks across the world include ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Main Street, USA represents a time of a wholesome America to many guests and while walking
down Main Street, USA, they feel a sense nostalgia. For this reason, the moment guests step into a
Disney theme park, America thus becomes the dominant narrative of the park, with the majority of
its lands devoted to telling the stories of American history (Philips, 2002, p.34). Although this land
does not host any attractions, it does have shops and eateries for guests to stop by on their way to
and from the castle and the rest of the theme park.
Although Tokyo Disneyland claims to be a replica of Disneyland in California, there are a lot of
differences between the two theme parks. When building the theme park, the Oriental Land
Company modified a few themed lands and attractions so that themes nostalgic for Americans but
meaningless for the Japanese have been renamed and recontextualized to capture the attention of
the new clientele (Brannen, 1992, p. 221). Main Street, USA is renamed to the World Bazaar at
Tokyo Disneyland and keeps the quasi Victorian architecture of the buildings , but hints of Art
Deco façade are added to the buildings in Tokyo (Brannen, 1992, p.222; Marling, 1997). The
renaming of the land does not change the theming of the land being inherently American. The idea
of Main Street is a concept used by American towns to describe their main thoroughfare. There are
no main streets in Japan so the theming of the land is

perspectives to the ideas about Beowulf as an epic hero, and his fate, but he also incorporates his

The third and final trial takes places with the second part of the poem. This part of the poem
follows Beowulf fifty years in the future when he becomes king of the Danes. He now is
characterized by more wisdom than heroism, however, the final challenge awakens the aged
hero to fight again. During his final encounter with evil he faces a dragon which protects a giant
hoard of treasure. Although the battle with the dragon only lasts ten pages it is greatly
significant to the context of fate. Similarly to Beowulf s embodiment of good, the dragon has
distinct elements that create a truly evil, greedy, and dangerous character. The dragon could
almost could be said to represent the fundamentally evil nature of mankind by his greed, malice,
and protection of the treasure. The dragon s extremely evil nature he is truly a sufficient trial for
the perfect hero to defeat. The destructiveness of the dragon requires Beowulf to meet him in
battle. Just as the dragon is the perfect villain for the hero to face, he also serves as the perfect
inflictor of Beowulf s fate. Beowulf is transformed by greed and thus his destiny in becoming an

attacker behind this mass shooting. Just a couple weeks prior to the shooting, Holmes bought a
ticket online for a midnight showing of The Dark Night Rises at the local movie theater in
Aurora. The night he attended the showing, left shortly after through one of the rear doors. He
proceeded to leave the door open and headed towards the parking lot. Soon later, he returned.
Not even 20 minutes after the movie had begun, Holmes began shooting vigorously at the
audience. Holmes is dressed head to toe in protective gear a ballistic helmet, protective gear for
his legs, throat and groin, black gloves and a gas mask. (Library, 2017) First, Holmes threw two
tear gas canisters into the theater, and after they exploded, that s when we began to start shooting.
By the end of that tragic night, there were several injured and some even dead. Ten

  • 2. The Symbolic Interactionalism Theory Of Hate Crime Hate crimes are difficult to fathom, primarily because they involve the unprovoked physical attacking and, sometimes, murder of people based on race and ethnicity. A more formal definition of hate crimes is presented by Shepard (2017, p. 285). As he writes, a hate crime is a criminal act that is motivated by extreme prejudice, This is a very good, concise and accurate definition, nevertheless, hate crimes are not the outcome of unimaginable heights of discrimination. Most people have prejudices and many have stereotypes regarding others, whether it be racial or class stereotypes. Nobody is completely lacking in any form, shape or type of prejudice but, the much greater percentage does not physically attack, beat or murder those whom they... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Between 2006 to 2017, as reported by O Reilly, hate crimes targeting Muslims has increased by an outstanding 91%. The average increase in all forms of hate crimes rose by 41% between 2016 2017 (Farivar, 2017). Hence, inarguable statistics and numbers establish a very high rate of increase in hate crimes, most especially during 2016 2017, coinciding with the campaign and subsequent election of Donald Trump. There are many theories of crime, with criminologists, psychologist and sociologists, debating whether criminality is an an outcome of nature, as in genetically inherited, or produced by nurture (Brinkerhoff, White and Ortega, 2011). Even though the debate is ongoing, most criminologists, sociologists and psychologists agree that cases in which criminality is linked to nature, are extremely rare. Instead, they emphasise, criminality as a product of nurture (Brinkerhoff, White and Ortega, 2011). This means that people who commit heinous hate crimes were presumably raised in an environment which expressed extreme prejudice towards a certain racial, ethnic or religious group and truly believed that the world would be a better place without them in it, or, at least, without them living in the United States (Brinkerhoff, White and Ortega, 2011). As indicated, hate crimes can be explained through the use of theory and, one such theory is the symbolic interactionism theory. As criminologists were engaged in attempting to ... • 3. Child Support Hearing This week I had the pleasure of sitting in on five hearings. On Monday Magistrate Akel allowed me to observe a child support hearing where both parties were living in Iowa. The initial order was given while the couple lived in Florida. When the father moved to Iowa he was ordered to pay $509.00 dollars a month in child support. The mothersent the child to Iowa to visit his father for a week but the child never came back to Florida. While the child was in the father s custody he continued to pay child support to the mother. During the hearing, the father wanted to ensure that his ex wife placed the money that she owed him into a depository account. The attorney representing the father pointed out that she was behind in paying him back. The attorney as well as the father believed that the she was using the money to support her other children. The mother claimed that all of the money that she owed her ex husband was already in the depository. Magistrate Akel made sure that the mother was aware that if the money was not there she would be held in contempt of court. The next hearing involved timesharing. The mother and father could not agree on a schedule that was best for the child. The mother was concerned that the father was not bonding enough because his mother did most ... He was intoxicated when he shot a fourteen year old in the abdomen. The charges that were brought against him were being in possession of a firearm and manslaughter with a deadly weapon. The State found him guilt on these charges and offered the defendant a plea deal with a sentence of 10 years. Based on the points that the defendant accumulated, the mandatory minimum for the crimes he committed were 25 years. His attorney attempted to reduce the sentence even more, she ... • 4. The Chart Above Displays The Known Ancestors Of John... The chart above displays the known ancestors of John Bigony Rex. The Bigony, Rex, Knauss and Tibben lines reaches the furthest back in time to European births in the 1600 s. The circles represent roots of the American dream, when men and women alike risked all to journey across an ocean to a distant land called America. It was a time of kings, war and persecution. Our brave forefathers were farmers, blacksmiths, fishermen and laborers. Regardless of their humble start, they became the building blocks for what will become a shining beacon of hope that transformed our world. John Bigony Rex grew up with the fading grandchildren of a group of Revolutionary War soldiers in Roxborough Pa. during the 1870 s. Stories of William... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Henry Tibben represented hundreds of farmers growing up along the Dutch and German border in independent Bentheim county. He firmly believed that hard work, religious freedom and the spirit of man could create a superior world for all people. To that aim, he took full advantage of his schooling, mastering not only reading, but writing and accounting. Optimism filled his soul like the fresh paintings hanging in the museums. He expected the future will harbor better things than just quiet farming. In that spirit, he never accepted the limits of digging peat or milking cows, or practicing a religion he did not profess to. His exploring mind always asked questions, often to the annoyance of his mentors, building a dream for himself and his descendants that only America could foster. A test of Henry s grit came during the 1670 s when a dark spirit spread across Holland. French King Louis sent legions of horses, cannons and nights across the Rhine River into the flat, peat fields of the Dutch frontier. Other Catholic allies soon joined in the rampage, sending Protestants into a panic. Rape, pillaging and infernos followed their movement north toward the Tibben farm; the unprepared Dutch armies retreated or surrendered. His Dutch neighbors called 1672 the The Year of Disaster. The Tibbens worshiped in a church that many Catholic leaders despised, The Dutch Reform Church. The Tibben farm resided along the Dutch and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 6. Alcohol And Substance Abuse And The National Minimum... Since alcohol and substance abuse have come into play, along with health issues, and emotional issues in peoples lives, questions started to arise. One being the legal age to start drinking alcohol. The national minimum drinking age act was signed on July 17th, 1984 to the law, with the drinking age at minimum being 21 (Archer M.D.). An adult is any person who s reached the age of maturity as directed by law (Archer M.D.). Legally, being 18 years old in the U.S. is considered to be the adult age, but the consumption of alcohol has always been withheld from the young adults of today, until the age of 21. When you re 18 year old, you can apply for a credit card, legally marry whoever you may want without parental consent, divorce, rent,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... At the same time, moderate drinking helps lower levels of cholesterol and prevents colds, unless the drinker smokes tobacco, meaning moderate drinking with care can be seen as not harmful when done by responsible adults (Pringle). Even though 18 is the adult age in the U.S. 18 19 is still technically the teenager age and teens are said to be at a more extreme risk than adults would be to die in a car crash, partially because of alcohol s stronger effects on lighter people (Pringle). Should 18 be the legal age for alcohol consumption? Although denying young adults to alcohol may seem unfair, 21 should be the legal age for alcohol consumption in the U.S. rather than 18, because of the overall improved death and health rates shown as the outcome. Currently in the U.S. the legal drinking age is at 21, an age that many people believe is fair. In the U.S. more than 25k lives have been saved because of the 21 minimum legal drinking age (Madd). Although health facts and opinions all have their own facts, the statistics don t lie. Even with 18 20 year olds legally being accepted as adults, this age group is still more likely to illegally drink because they re so close to the legal age. But those who start drinking before the age of 21 are more likely to be involved in violent behaviors, attempt suicide, have unprotected sex, develop alcoholic problems, and more (Pringle). On top of this, drinking at a young age greatly increases the risk of developing alcohol ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 8. My Experience Of Gender As A Minority Male Of Saudi Arabia... When I tell people, friends or family that I have to write a paper about my experience of gender, they just laugh at that. They think there is not much to it. Nonetheless, my personal experience of gender is rather a more complex than meets the eye. Having lived two patriarchal societies one extreme and one that is drifting away from patriarchy I have had to deal with a lot. It is not all advantage and privilege to be a heterosexual male, it has many negativities and pressures. Especially if by your nature, you struggle to fit into the societal designated genderroles. In this paper, I will reflect on my experience and struggle, as a minority male in Saudi Arabiaand the United States of America. I will provide retrieve memories and incidents from my childhood and adolescence, I will describe the everyday challenges and obstacles, and I will To start with, I was born in Riyadh, the capital Saudi Arabia to a Hijazi Meccan family with Central Asian Turkic origins from my father s side. My family had lived in the Hijaz area for five generations, but then moved to Riyadh before I was born due to work. The Hijaz area in Western Arabia was historically a cosmopolitan independent region, due to the ethnic and racial diversity of its population, the Hijazi major cities were relatively more progressive and liberal than the rest of Arabia. Analyze Regulations in Venture Capital 2.1 In this part, we will put up some typical regulations to analyze whether they are available or necessary. If possible, we may give some advices to develop these regulations. BASEL III Requirements and REPO Availability On Jan 1st, 2014, Basel III regulations show the effectiveness on banks with more than $250B in total consolidated assets or greater than $10B in foreign exposure. These large banks are important issuers of repurchase agreements, the capital investment vehicle for the overmuch funds in venture capital firms. Generally, the US government or a Federal Agency issue or guarantee collateral used in these transactions, and the agreements reset each day. In addition, the supply of this high quality collateral has reduced because of the asset purchase plan of the Federal Reserve. Totally, high quality collateralizes the availability of repo, low risk securities may diminish over the near term, resulting in a shift towards lower quality, higher risk collateral for longer terms. We might see the development of alternative interest bearing investment products as a result of this potential shortfall in repo inventory. • 11. Traction Alopecia In Children Children are just as susceptible to traction alopecia as adults are. The causes of traction alopecia in children are similar to grown ups. Hairstyles such as pigtails, cornrows and braiding the hair can cause hair loss in kids. When a child s hair is repeatedly styled tightly, over a period of time hair follicles become damaged and incapable of producing healthy hairs. The hair folliclemay become so damaged that it stops producing hairs altogether. Hair loss occurs in the areas of the scalp that are pulled the most, usually at the front hair line, the nape of the neck and crown. In the 1980 s home schooling was a choice that parents could make with their children if they so desired. By the early 1990 s about three hundred thousand children were in a home school environment. Today there are about two million students being taught at home. Children being taught at home are increasing by a rate of seven to fifteen percent every year. Another pro of home schooling is the idea of religious freedom. Religion is very important to many families. Other families practice odd or unpopular religions which are not taught in schools of any type. Many extremely religious families choose to home school for the mere fact the school systems do not teach religion to the level of importance in which they find it to be. Although home schooling may appear as a good idea there are some negative aspects you should take into consideration too. The first problem with being home schooled is the lack of interaction with the diverse world. The reason this is a problem is that children will not get to meet and learn from different ethnicities and cultures. The child will only be listening to his or her parent s or instructor s ideas and viewpoints on different ideas and different issues in the world which may leave the child ignorant or bias depending on his or her instructor s orientation on matters. If the parent has ignorant views on a situation this could be inherited and passed on to the child. Home schooling poses time restraints. I believe it is necessary to read the bible most of the time. Although, when it comes down to the how often you read, this is based on a person s overall walk with God. Whether the person is a new believer, a weak believer, or strong believer the amount they read the bibleis based upon this. As a new believer, I believe it is a must that a person reads the bible as close to every day as possible. I remember when my parents first came to Christ, they would read the bible. Not just because they wanted to, but they were hungry for the word and wanted to dive head first into it. This is not bad at all don t get me wrong. With them being new believers, they are going to try to soak up the Word like someone sipping out of a straw. They want to read this life changing book that Christians talk about so much. Compare it to this, a little boy walks into a candy store and buys some candy. • 18. Relationship Between Bitter Flavors And Bitter Flavor Abstract The realization of this experiment had as main objective to show the relationship between the bitter flavor in spinach and the bitter flavor in Phenylthiocarbamide (PTC). In many past studies about this relationship the results have shown that there is a significant difference between the bitter taste in some vegetables and the bitter flavor present in PTC (Sandell Breslin,2006). In order to approve or disapprove this hypothesis 19 students in the same class were tested to see if they tasted the bitter flavor in spinach. The spinach leaves were blended with mango juice using a blender machine. The result of this part of the experiment were recorded in a table to be analyzed. The results showed that 26.3% of the subjects were super tasters of the spinach (indicating that they tasted the bitter flavor). In contrast about 73.7% of the same subjects were considered to be super tasters for the PTC (grading the bitter flavor 4 or 5 in a 5 scale; being 5 the maximum for bitterness). In conclusion it can be say that this two results were not very related. This experiment can be used to further analyze how some vegetables may have bitter flavor and not be correlated to the bitter taste in PTC. • 24. The Social Cognitive Theory Of Moral Disengagement In 1986, Albert Bandura explored the concept of moral disengagement and its involvement in individuals accepting and encouraging the act of violence and other immoral activities while justifying their behavior. Moral disengagement, a term from social psychology, is the notion that focuses on the process in which an individual convince themselves that their morals or ethical standards do not apply to a certain situation. When this occurs, the individual has disabled the mechanism of self condemnation and is separating themselves from their morals and acting in inhumane ways. Many people disengage themselves from their morals in certain situations because they feel their actions are justified, or they defuse the responsibility to others and believe that someone else will take charge. The purpose of this paper is to explore the social cognitive theory of moral disengagement and how well it does at explaining why humans detach themselves from their moralityand justify their misconduct, contrary to the rationalist, psychological and socio structural theories. Based on the book Everybody Does It by Thomas Gabor (1994), the universality of moral disengagement is seen in all kinds of people from all kinds of statuses and ways of life. Gentrification has it s positive effects just like it has it s negative effects. The negative consequences include displacement, loss of cultural identity, and increasing rent. First of all, one of the reasons to why gentrifiers should stop the process of modifying cities is displacement. These emotions manifest in daytime fantasies, traumatic nightmares, and psychotic reenactments know as flashbacks. The third criteria, avoidant/numbing, consists of symptoms that reflect behavioral, cognitive, or emotional strategies the PTSD patients use in an attempt to reduce the likelihood that they will expose themselves to trauma related stimuli. The fourth criteria, hyper arousal, most closely resembles those seen in panic and generalized anxiety disorders. In each land, the theme is reflected in the surrounding infrastructure, the appearance of employees, the character of food and other franchises, and the entertainment (Curwen, 1995, p.15). The original Disneyland in California was designed with a land that acts as a throughway to guide guests to the castle, Main Street, USA. From the castle, the other themed lands jut out like spokes of a wheel with the castle being the main focal point of the theme park. The Magic Kingdom in Orlando, Tokyo Disneyland, Disneyland Paris, and Hong Kong Disneyland all follow the same original layout of the park in California. Main Street, USA represents a time of a wholesome America to many guests and while walking down Main Street, USA, they feel a sense nostalgia. For this reason, the moment guests step into a Disney theme park, America thus becomes the dominant narrative of the park, with the majority of its lands devoted to telling the stories of American history (Philips, 2002, p.34). Although this land does not host any attractions, it does have shops and eateries for guests to stop by on their way to and from the castle and the rest of the theme park. Although Tokyo Disneyland claims to be a replica of Disneyland in California, there are a lot of differences between the two theme parks. When building the theme park, the Oriental Land Company modified a few themed lands and attractions so that themes nostalgic for Americans but meaningless for the Japanese have been renamed and recontextualized to capture the attention of the new clientele (Brannen, 1992, p. 221). Main Street, USA is renamed to the World Bazaar at Tokyo Disneyland and keeps the quasi Victorian architecture of the buildings , but hints of Art Deco faГ§ade are added to the buildings in Tokyo (Brannen, 1992, p.222; Marling, 1997). The renaming of the land does not change the theming of the land being inherently American. The idea of Main Street is a concept used by American towns to describe their main thoroughfare. The dragon s extremely evil nature he is truly a sufficient trial for the perfect hero to defeat. The destructiveness of the dragon requires Beowulf to meet him in battle.
