This week I had the pleasure of sitting in on five hearings. On Monday Magistrate Akel allowed
me to observe a child support hearing where both parties were living in Iowa. The initial order
was given while the couple lived in Florida. When the father moved to Iowa he was ordered to pay
$509.00 dollars a month in child support. The mothersent the child to Iowa to visit his father for a
week but the child never came back to Florida. While the child was in the father s custody he

Abstract
The realization of this experiment had as main objective to show the relationship between the bitter
flavor in spinach and the bitter flavor in Phenylthiocarbamide (PTC). In many past studies about
this relationship the results have shown that there is a significant difference between the bitter taste
in some vegetables and the bitter flavor present in PTC (Sandell Breslin,2006). In order to
approve or disapprove this hypothesis 19 students in the same class were tested to see if they
tasted the bitter flavor in spinach. The spinach leaves were blended with mango juice using a
blender machine. The result of this part of the experiment were recorded in a table to be
analyzed. The results showed that 26.3% of the subjects were super tasters of the spinach
(indicating that they tasted the bitter flavor). In contrast about 73.7% of the same subjects were
considered to be super tasters for the PTC (grading the bitter flavor 4 or 5 in a 5 scale; being 5
the maximum for bitterness). In conclusion it can be say that this two results were not very related.
This experiment can be used to further analyze how some vegetables may have bitter flavor and
not be correlated to the bitter taste in PTC.

It all began in 2013. It was a completely normal day. I woke up and followed my daily routine:
brush my teeth, put on my clothes, and went to school. Little did I know, that would be the day that
changed everything. I found out that my uncle Danny had been diagnosed with lung cancer. The
chemo originally worked and he went into remission. After a few months of remission, the
doctors said he would have a few months to live. After he passed away, I couldn t talk to him. I
couldn t see him anymore. He was just gone. Cancer ended the life of someone very precious to
me and his death sparked the beginning of my desire to battle this disease.

In 1986, Albert Bandura explored the concept of moral disengagement and its involvement in
individuals accepting and encouraging the act of violence and other immoral activities while
justifying their behavior. Moral disengagement, a term from social psychology, is the notion that
focuses on the process in which an individual convince themselves that their morals or ethical
standards do not apply to a certain situation. When this occurs, the individual has disabled the
mechanism of self condemnation and is separating themselves from their morals and acting in

Learning about PowerPoint has been very stimulating for me; unit five has taught me a lot. I love
to use Microsoft PowerPoint, but until this unit, I did not fully understand how to use all of the
functions in Microsoft PowerPoint. I love the whole unit, so singling out three things will be hard
for me. I work as a Manager, and I am often preparing presentations. The three items in Microsoft
PowerPointthat I know I will apply to my everyday life are, Notes, Numbered list, and Charts. I
think through the whole unit these features were the ones that made me say, ok I will use that
for my upcoming presentation. Below I will explain why I chose each one of these functions.
First, I chose the Notes Function. The note section was a big deal for me. I usually write my
notes down in a notebook before my presentations. The problem I ran into was, I would always
get lost. I tried putting little symbols at the bottom of the page for talking points. The problem
here was, I could never remember what the talking point was about once I got to the symbol.
When I tried Microsoft PowerPoint Notes, I found I was no longer fumbling between papers
(Carlson, 2010). I loved it because I just stood and clicked no more papers. The Notes function
allows you to put information on the slides that you want to share that the audience cannot see

All Disney theme parks are designed based on themed lands. In each land, the theme is reflected in
the surrounding infrastructure, the appearance of employees, the character of food and other
franchises, and the entertainment (Curwen, 1995, p.15). The original Disneyland in California was
designed with a land that acts as a throughway to guide guests to the castle, Main Street, USA.
From the castle, the other themed lands jut out like spokes of a wheel with the castle being the
main focal point of the theme park. The Magic Kingdom in Orlando, Tokyo Disneyland, Disneyland

Main Street, USA represents a time of a wholesome America to many guests and while walking
down Main Street, USA, they feel a sense nostalgia. For this reason, the moment guests step into a
Disney theme park, America thus becomes the dominant narrative of the park, with the majority of
its lands devoted to telling the stories of American history (Philips, 2002, p.34). Although this land
does not host any attractions, it does have shops and eateries for guests to stop by on their way to
and from the castle and the rest of the theme park.
Although Tokyo Disneyland claims to be a replica of Disneyland in California, there are a lot of
differences between the two theme parks. When building the theme park, the Oriental Land
Company modified a few themed lands and attractions so that themes nostalgic for Americans but
meaningless for the Japanese have been renamed and recontextualized to capture the attention of
the new clientele (Brannen, 1992, p. 221). Main Street, USA is renamed to the World Bazaar at
Tokyo Disneyland and keeps the quasi Victorian architecture of the buildings , but hints of Art
Deco faГ§ade are added to the buildings in Tokyo (Brannen, 1992, p.222; Marling, 1997). The

follows Beowulf fifty years in the future when he becomes king of the Danes. He now is
characterized by more wisdom than heroism, however, the final challenge awakens the aged

hoard of treasure. Although the battle with the dragon only lasts ten pages it is greatly
significant to the context of fate. Similarly to Beowulf s embodiment of good, the dragon has

almost could be said to represent the fundamentally evil nature of mankind by his greed, malice,
and protection of the treasure. The dragon s extremely evil nature he is truly a sufficient trial for
the perfect hero to defeat. The destructiveness of the dragon requires Beowulf to meet him in
battle. Just as the dragon is the perfect villain for the hero to face, he also serves as the perfect
inflictor of Beowulf s fate. Beowulf is transformed by greed and thus his destiny in becoming an
epic hero are squandered. Prior to becoming king, Beowulf fought to protect the Danes from evil.
Now as king his motivation for defeating evil is to gain even more wealth in the form of the
dragons hoard. All the while, his fate to become an Epic Hero has changed. His battle with the

What Is My Special Place Essay
Lose stones crunch underneath my feet as I walk along the sand towards my favourite beach,
metres away was my little hideout place which I named my special place and there standing was
me a 7 year old little girl named Isabelle who loved the beach, she loved swimming and running
up and down the beach with her best friend Jake her first ever dog. All I remember now is going
to my special place all the time when I was little and it had a rope swing inside and I use too sit
on it and swing back and forth. I haven t been there for ages, but it hasn t changed much, still the
same old sanddunes near the beach with big trees and bushes that have grown a little. But other
than that, it s still my favourite beach I remember and have grown up with for the past 17 years.
I made an adventure out of my special place as I was the only one that knew where it was and
my dad and I were the ones that put the rope in and made it into a swing for me. My mum use to
make me sandwiches and I use to spend half the day there either with my dad and mum or a friend.
For as long as I can remember, the rope swing has gradually started to disintegrate and not able to

Mass shootings happen a lot more frequently in the world than most of us probably know.
However, every mass shooting that has been documented and investigated have the same main
question behind it; Why did the attacker choose to do this? Many times, our assumptions are all
we have. Investigation analyses the entire situation as much as it can to make sure our
assumptions, if needed, are as accurate as possible. However, there are a lot of theories and social
situations that pertain to mass shootings as well. On July 20th, 2012, one of the deadliest mass
shootinghad occurred in Aurora, Colorado. A man by the name of James Holmes had been the
attacker behind this mass shooting. Just a couple weeks prior to the shooting, Holmes bought a
ticket online for a midnight showing of The Dark Night Rises at the local movie theater in
Aurora. The night he attended the showing, left shortly after through one of the rear doors. He
proceeded to leave the door open and headed towards the parking lot. Soon later, he returned.
Not even 20 minutes after the movie had begun, Holmes began shooting vigorously at the
audience. Holmes is dressed head to toe in protective gear a ballistic helmet, protective gear for
his legs, throat and groin, black gloves and a gas mask. (Library, 2017) First, Holmes threw two
tear gas canisters into the theater, and after they exploded, that s when we began to start shooting.
