The Radical Feminist View of the Family Essay
The Radical Feminist View of the Family
Feminism is the belief that women are unfairly treated in society and it should be changed in order
to create equality with men. However not all feminists believe the same and there ideas vary.
Radical Feminists believe that it has been built into the way society is structured that men are
allowed to exploit and oppress women. They call this patriarchy. They believe that abuse in the
family is down to men being psychologically warped by centuries of patriarchy into being unable
to accept women as equals. Shulamith Firestone developed a theory in the 1960 s when Radical
Feminists began seeking to overturn what at the time was seen as grotesque and ... Show more

Men control children using physical and psychological abuse but in some case sexual
dominance is used. Therefore Firestone believed that the sexual abuse of women and children
was not about sexual deviance at all but about power. Over the centuries men have become
adapted to the power held over women so find it difficult to accept them as equals. Firestone
decided the only solution to this problem was for women and children to live totally separated
from men, and to even do away with them completely. However today Firestones theories are not
very fashionable, although they do have some truth in them. Violent male partners kill 100 women
a year while only 4 men a year are killed by violent women partners, and most of all child abuse
cases is committed by men.
Liberal Feminists unlike Radical Feminists believe that over time as the old fashioned views have
broken down, many new laws have been changed that help to give women equality and there has
been a steady improvement in women s careers in society.
Functionalist and the New Right are against feminism, as they believe the nuclear family is the
ideal living arrangement as women can stay home and do domestic chores while men go and
provide for the family like it was centuries ago. Ann Widdecome a politician for the New Right
believes strongly in the bible and the messages it provides, so women to have

Cultural Context Of Immigrants And Refugees
My Experience with the Cultural Context of Immigrants and Refugees Description of Context
The cultural immersion for the immigrants and refugees group is taken from a first hand
experience with a family from hurricane Katerina. Livingston, Alabama is right off the
interstate 59/20, which a main evacuation route from the gulf coast. When hurricane Katerina hit
in 2005, several families found comfort in our small town. I was able to form a relationship
with a family that occupied one of my friend s homes. The family was from the New Orleans
area. The family had three children. Majority of their belonging were left at home. The only
things the large family was able to bring was what could fit in one car. The oldest daughter
joined my sixth grade class. Experience Modality In 2005, a category 5 hurricane hit the gulf
coast, New Orleans, Biloxi, and Gulf Shores. This hurricane was well known before it actually
landed in the shore. Families had limited time to pack up their belonging and move in shore.
Livingston, Alabama was on the evacuation route for one family. This family made Livingston
their new home for about a year. They had communication with their community back home. They
had all intentions to move back to their home, but decided to state their new life in a different
costal city. What I Learned About self in reaction to cultural experience. Being a refugee was a
very hard concept for me to fully understand in my young age. I did not watch the new to know the

Journal Report On Journal ( Trip ) ( 2011-2012 Item No. 1
Journal (Trip to France) 2011 2012Item No. 1
The first item in my portfolio is a journal from when my family took a trip to France. Since my
dad was granted a sabbatical, our family travelled to the south of France for a year to learn
French and gain cultural experience. We took this trip during the time I was in Grade 6; however,
we had to take school in French instead, which was probably more difficult. I chose to add this
journal because it is an accurate summary of many of the things my family did in France, and it
shows my progress throughout the year learning French.
In order to be able to communicate while my family was in France, all of us had to learn to speak
and write in French. This was a challenge, but we took lessons ... Show more content on

However, I would make sure to keep a more detailed account of what I was doing. I would need
to keep a better journal so that I could remember all the things I did. There are so many things to
do and see that it is nearly impossible not to forget something!
In France, I learned the value of heightened social and interpersonal skills and awareness. I found
that when speaking in French, I was much more confident than when I spoke in English, and this
led to me being less introverted. By writing a journal, I also learned how to summarize facts
concisely, and how to communicate effectively.
This journal demonstrates that I have effective communication skills, especially in writing. It also
shows how I am always working to improve my general skill set. You can see this throughout the
journal, as my French gets better and better!
Rock (Asteroids Game) July 2013Item No. 2
As the second item in my portfolio, I chose to add a rock. Although a rock is something very

functional computerized opponent. I chose a rock to represent part of me in my portfolio, because

The Circular Plot In John Steinbeck s Of Mice And Men
The Circular Plot in Of Mice and Men
The author, John Steinbeck, utilizes a circular plot structure in his novel, Of Mice and Men, to
show how prejudice and the impossibility of wishful desires will always be prevalent in society.
He integrates multiple examples through the characters of this story; each individual representing a
role in society. As Lennie and George travel from ranch to ranch, their dreams are challenged and
Lennie is one of many who faces discrimination.
To commence, repetition is used to introduce how Lennie has always been discriminated against
due to his mental disability. For example, as they arrived on the new ranch, Lennie claims George
said he was his cousin to the boss they had met. Conversely, George retorts that what he said was
a lie, declaring that if he was a relative of [Lennie], [he d] shoot [himself] (Steinbeck 24). This
illustrates how Lennie is often ridiculed for his condition, George concealing it to avoid losing
their opportunity of receiving the Job on the ranch. This moment is one of many situations
George has mistreated Lennie to some extent. Further evidence is when George explains to Slim
what had discouraged him from mocking Lennie. He confesses to Slim that he played jokes on
Lennie because it made him appear smart alongside of him, only stopping when he orders Lennie
to jump in the lake. Lennie couldn t swim a stroke and he was so nice to [George] for [pulling]
him out of the water in time to save his life (Steinbeck

organisational policies on the troubleshooting and repair process, I am going to be talking about the

Resources should be well balanced so if the resources are not needed they shouldn t been used.
Prioritisation The company should prioritize some of the aspect when performing repair as they
might be more important and they should be repaired first. For example if network is down and
at the same time printer is not working. The person that perform repair should concentrate on
repairing network instead of printer as without network printer would be useless. Contractual
Requirements In a company, the support team staff would be required to work shifts that will
provide coverage for the employees when the offices are officially opened, they will also need
to provide extra time in the evening and weekends, where they will carry out the essential
maintenance which may have to involve some downtime. The hours that an employee will have
to work will be set out for them in what is called an employment contract. They will be limited
by the EU legislation and some other regulations such as working time regulations, which will
provide the basic right and protections such as: A worker can be required to work at most an
average of 48 hours a week (though workers can choose to work more if they want to). For night
workers there is a limit of an average of 8 hours worked in 24. Night workers are entitled to receive
free health assessments. All staff are entitled to 11 hours of rest a day and to one day off each
week. When

Political Parties In California
Weak Parties, Strong Partisanship California is known for being a very liberal blue state.
California is almost guaranteed to vote democratically in a presidential election and much of the
country considers themselves democratic. The areas that are more conservative in California are
also very adamant in their beliefs. The two major political parties in Californiaare extremely
polarized and have extremely high partisanship. The parties themselves however are extremely
weak. The idea that parties can have high levels of partisanship but be weak is extremely
confusing. It has much to do with the way California s politics have been established and the level
of direct democracyin the state. Naturally, political parties tend to be distinct... Show more content

Most local elections in California are nonpartisan. A nonpartisan election is an election in which
the parties of the candidates are not printed on the ballots. Although the candidates may identify
with one of the political parties, their preference is not shown on the ballot during the election.
This causes candidates to have to work harder for their votes and make their agendas known to
the public rather than relying on their political party to get them elected. In order for politicians
to move up in the political ladder, they must have contributed greatly to their local office and
have a decent resume to get them through. In a partisan election, candidates may be able to rely
on his or her partisanship to get them elected. For example in a largely democratic area, a
candidate may simply be elected just because his name is next to the word democrat on the ballot.
This in turn strengthens the parties role because that candidate would owe the party for his or her
election. Since California holds nonpartisan elections, candidates owe nothing to the party for their
success during an election. They are able to move up in politics based on the impact they had
made during their previous role. Although a large amount of the state offices has partisan elections,
by the time a candidate has made it to a state election they have made a name for themselves
without relying on the party to speak for them. Therefore, even

The Red Panda have any physical features that you don t see every day. The Red Panda s head to

Because of the color of their fur they can easily camouflage with the moss and lichen on trees.
With the thick fur on their short legs, the Red Panda could easily survive on snowy or icy surfaces
as fur acts for a thermal insulation. They are excellent climbers and feed on bamboo with their
strong, curved and sharp semi retractile claws. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Red_panda. When

How The Diaspora Helped Violence Essay
How the Diaspora helped Violence Having established the motives for the Diaspora aiding the
nationalist, now it needs to be analyzed what the diaspora actually did to aid the nationalist
movement. The aid can be broken down into three categories, financial, political and physical
aid. The first and the biggest being financial aid and this type of aid was collected by members
of the Irish Diaspora in the US then given to various different nationalist groups. Seldom was the
money given to violent groups like the IRA but instead was given to other groups and in turn led
to the purchasing of arms or goods and stuff like that which the IRA could use. One of the major
organizations that did this was Noraid or Irish Northern Aid. The true purpose of Noraid dealt
with arms smuggling and fund raising and thus were closely aligned and allied with the
IRA(Brian Hanley 2004:1). The support for Noraid in terms of funding can be tracked in the
same exact way that the general diasporatic support can be tracked. The hunger strikes of 1980
81, in which IRA prisoners staged a hunger strike to protest conditions in their prison in which a
few of them died, was monumental in the history of Noraid because it led to not only an increase
of donation which in turn were given to IRA and groups like it but it also changed the image of
Noraid in the US. It led to an increase in membership and made the organization less radical which
meant that it year by year would have generally more memberships and

Civil War Dbq Essay
When the Civil War erupted at the attack on Fort Sumter in 1861, fighting was mainly driven by
political tensions, all of which ultimately spawned from the question of slavery. During the
Antebellum Period, the United States experienced a gradually intensifying sectional conflict that
threatened the unity of the nation. Compromises between the North and South had become futile.
Contrary to popular belief, the goals of Lincoln and the North did not involve the emancipation of
slaves and restoration of equality and the opportunity of prosperity for all Americans. Most
Northerners fought to preserve the newly split Union, while Southerners fought to protect what
they believed to be inalienable states rights. Ultimately, precarious African American... Show more

Though this statement only freed slaves in regions still participating in rebellion, it demonstrated
a shift in purpose and gave the North moral justification to fight in the war. By thrusting
themselves into the war effort, African Americans changed a war based on political
disagreements and state power into a war to terminate and forever prohibit slavery. (Doc. D) This
document may be considered bias, especially by Confederate sympathizers, because it was written
by members of the Republican Party platform most of which heavily advocated emancipation.
Lincoln, who initially remained neutral on the topic of slavery, became inspired by the
willingness with which African Americans stake their lives for us, they must be prompted by the
strongest motive even the promise of freedom. And the promise being made, must be kept. (Doc.
C) Therefore, the willing participation of blacks in the Civil War with the hopes of achieving
freedom caused an entirely new goal of the war to form in the

This is usually the metal thick, triangular shaped slab of iron that forms the base over which the
electric iron is built up. The sole plate is cast of molten aluminium. Some part of the mould has the
holes shaped in it which creates the holes that are essential in a steam iron. Heated metal is
inserted into a mould under pressure then cooled and then released. This cooled sole plate is later
on treated in several ways where it s firstly polished then either it s: coated with a non stick
material, or covered with another metal (usually stainless steel). To complete these processes, the
sole plates are put on a large automated carousel, which rotates through each step whereas to polish
the plate, an automated belt sander uses bands of abrasive to polish and buff the plate. An
automated spray painting machine is used to apply the non stick coating. After application, the sole
plate is baked in an automated industrial process.

Why I Want To Dance In High School
The anticipation as I stand in the concrete tunnel under the bleachers is my life s biggest moment
of uncertainty. Will the crowd stand on their feet in a standing ovation, or will the crowd deem me
as mediocre? As I look to my left and right, my teammates faces assure me that their nervous
excitement is identical to mine. When I hear the announcer on the loudspeaker and hear the
students shouts, I know it is time to walk on the sharp green blades on the field under the shining
Friday night lights.
As a little girl, I would constantly walk on my toes. Because of this tendency, my parents enrolled
me in a beginner ballet class at the age of three. I learned how to walk like a ballerina, the art of
pointing my toes properly, and how to properly curtsy at the end of class. Throughout the months
leading up to the recital, my classmate and I learned a piece to perform, and I practiced in class
and at home for my parents and brother. On the day of the recital, I performed the dance perfectly in
my green sparkly tutu and the smallest size ballet slippers. However, I was disgruntled with the
other baby ballerinas for making mistakes on the stage. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

said in a popular Nike ad, I m not a role model. Just because I dunk a basketball doesn t mean I
should raise your kids (Don t forget bout me u dipwad!!!). This sparked the debate; Should pro
athletes be role models? Children need a true hero to look up to, and these athletes satisfy that
need. These athletes show the features of a hero, not a criminal. Adolescents need athletes as their

Players appear to have the tendency to get arrested, and their careers and fans are devastated.
But statistics don t lie. According to Tom Keane, a former Boston city councilor and Boston
Globe Columnist, wrote this in an article: The rate of arrest of pro athletes for assault and
domestic violence was less than half that of the general population. This applied for other crimes
as well. It seems as if NFL players are committing so many crimes because every time they do,
they make the news (Keane 2 3). So instead of breaking the law, these athletes are actually just
training. An athlete usually work more than 40 hours a week for several months (Athletes and
Sports Competitors 1). The motivation it requires to be an athlete doesn t stop here. You must
be willing to work hard in the face of fatigue, boredom, and pain. Motivation will impact
everything that influences your sports performance. Physical conditioning, technical and
tactical training, and mental preparation (Taylor 1). Along with the motivation for the Grind ,
you must be willing to give up a big chunk of free time you spend with friends and family. You ll
(also) have to follow a rigorous diet plan. You have to consume a precise amount of carbs,
proteins, and fat (Anne 1). Along with diets, each athlete has a different work ethic, or plan for
working out. Kobe Bryant arguably has one of the best. During the 2012 Olympics, when
everyone was waking up for team USA, Kobe had already gone through a 3 hour workout (Kobe
Bryant s Insane Work Ethic 3). To wrap up, athletes are severely motivated and prove it with their

The Importance Of Hate Speech And Hate Groups
The First Amendment has brought up debates over the years, which most recently have centered
around hate speech and hate groups. Congress and state governments can make no law that
takes away the freedom of speech. However, some people feel that hate speech and hate groups
violate their civil liberties. A hate group is an organization whose goals are based on the hatred
of a specific group(s) of people, and the group must have a hate based purpose. Hate speech is
speech that threatens, offends, or insults members of a group(s). All Americans have rights and
liberties of their own, and wish they are not infringed by others. Despite people believing hate
groups should not have the right to free speech if it is hate speech, the US Supreme Court has
ruled that hate groups are protected under the First Amendment. Throughout the history of the
United States, many hate groups have emerged. Today, the oldest hate group, and the most well
known, is the Ku Klux Klan. It was formed in 1865, and it soon turned into a strong, violent
organization. Hundreds of other hate groups have been organized and remain active today. Most
hate groups in the United States are anti black, variations of the KKK, anti Muslim, general hate,
white nationalist, or Neo Nazi s . Hate groups have been involved in many criminal suits,
including Brandenburg v. Ohio, National Socialist Party v. Skokie, Snyder v. Phelps, and, most
recently, Matal v. Tam. All four of these cases further the idea that hate speech is protected under
the First Amendment. To begin with, the ruling in Brandenburg v. Ohio developed an important
test to decide what speech can be prohibited, which makes this case significant. Brandenburg v.
Ohio was a case in 1969 over a law in Ohio that criminalized advocating various illegal activities
that put Brandenburg, a KKK leader in prison. The US Supreme Court took on this case and
declared that Ohio s law violated the First, and Fourteenth, Amendments. The resulting test is
known as the Brandenburg incitement test which allows speech to be regulated if it is directed to
and likely to cause imminent violent act . Ohio s law made the advocacy illegal, but it did not take
into part whether or not the speech incited lawless

Comparing My Strengths And Weaknesses In My Writing
Many writers enjoy putting their voice on paper. As a writer, I have always enjoyed knowing
that I do not have to speak aloud for people to know what I want to say. Everyone who writes has
his or hers strengths and weaknesses, some different from others. I like to read other peoples
works and know that what they re talking about is familiar to me. Also, I enjoy being able to relate

the two have crossed paths. Frank Lloyd Wrightis an architect who lets art influence his

Communicative Approach To Language Teaching
In the long history of language learning, especially in the case of learning English as L2,
educationalists have been tirelessly trying to explore more and more practical approaches that
ranged from conventional methods like Grammar translation method, Direct method, Situational
Language Teaching etc., to the latest mode of communicative approach. The conventional teaching
methods the unsuccessful result of the earlier language theories, were proved to be ineffective,
because it was felt in all the methods, that the learners were passive and the teaching learning
process was mechanical. Hence during the 1960s, a new trend of language teaching called
Communicative Language Teachingpaved its way into classrooms in the early 1960 s and has been
widely acclaimed by educationists so far. The present paper glimpses briefly the emergence of the

Factors Affecting The Homeless Epidemic Essay
4. Different There are a lot of factors that construe the homeless epidemic. Factors the contribute
to homelessness includes job loss, divorce, domestic abuse, foreclosure of home, serious illness,
mental and physical illness, substance abuse and even natural disasters all help to contribute to
homelessness. Which shows it can happen to anyone, regardless of gender, ethnicity, religion and
even social class. Even with government regulations, there can occur a loss of financial
sustainability by zoning regulations resulting in eminent domain over people s properties when
they have no place to go and with the high cost of housing either for purchase or to rent have
skyrocketed. These people really do not have a choice but to be homeless and at the bottom of the
caste system deemed the untouchables . The homeless have become the hunters and gatherers of
modern society. They feed themselves by begging, scavenging, and raiding garbage for
(particularly that of restaurants) food. (Kottak p234) Even when factories relocate to other
countries where labor is cheaper, cost families, their livelihood and for some that is the only job
skill they have, these people would eventually become homeless if they cannot secure another job
with the same or lower job skills that they possess. And also due to the fact that the migrants are
being housed first and been providing care over U.S. citizens with this current administration. The
Obama Administration has made it very clear that

The Concert Of Mozart s Concerto Symphony
On Saturday April 16, 2016, I went with my fiancГ© to Jones Hall to see the Houston Symphony
perform a classical concert. The concert consisted of two pieces. Mozart s Violin Concerto No. 3
in G major and Bruckner s Symphony No. 7 in E major. The orchestra was conducted by Thomas
Sondergard from Denmark. The concert lasted for about 2 hours with a 15 minute intermission.
Although the concert started a little late, the first piece was Mozart s ConcertoNo. 3, which he
composed when he was 19. The instruments played in this piece were 2 flutes, 2 oboes, 2 horns,
and strings. The violinsoloist was Karen Gomyo. There were 3 movements to this piece, and as I
learned in class, this was definitely a classical concerto.
The first movement is played Allegro in Sonata form. The mood of this movement was bright and
cheerful. I liked how the orchestra accompanied the violin. In the second movement it was played
Adagio. Because the movement was slower, the mood was a little more tranquil. I liked this
movement, because you could hear the violin solo playing an octave higher than the orchestra.
The third movement which was the finale, was played Rondeau Allegro. In this movement, I
really enjoyed the playfulness of this movement. The violin solo was quite impressive. Overall,
this entire piece was quite enjoyable, I really liked the playing back and forth with the solo and
orchestra. The orchestra played in tune and everyone was definitely playing in rhythm and were
well prepared. I

Limitations Of Travelling
The ability to travel anywhere, whether it is in your own country, or to another place abroad, is
a privilege that is sometimes hard for others to accept. Being able to travel can often teach you
more than a job, relationship, or a lecture ever will, which is contrary to popular belief. Likewise,
it is also most certainly a gift to have the ability to experience the wonders of the outside world.
However, there are many people out there who feel that they are not in the position to be able to
travel due to various reasons. Reasons such as politics between countries and simply being able to
afford traveling are some of the main issues. Authors Natalie Thomas and Hannah Peterson, both
addresses the positive reasons of why people should travel. Whereas, Lisa van Beurden and Oneika
Raymond comment on the limitations of traveling. Thomas and Peterson, both who are in favor in
traveling, has accumulated many reasons why one should travel. They both believe that traveling
allows people to stretch the limits of [their] comfort zone (Thomas). The authors think that this is
beneficial to people because even though they may be immersed in an unfamiliar and
uncomfortable surrounding, they will often find something positive to make out in the situation.
Ultimately, people will discover new things, be exposed to new cultures and make new connections
and friends. Through zip lining through the forests of the Amazon to navigating the streets of Hong
Kong, traveling brings adventures and

Ironic Circumstances in Greasy Lake by T.C. Boyle
Sudden and Ironic events that happen to the narrator in T.C. Boyle s short story Greasy Lake are
the same type of events that in an instant will change a person forever. The ironic circumstances
that the narrator in Greasy Lake finds himself in are the same circumstances that young people
find themselves in when fighting war. The viewpoint of the world that the narrator has,
completely alters as certain events take place throughout the story. His outlook on nature
transforms into a wholly different standpoint as the story progresses. As his tale begins, the
narrator sees himself as a tough guy or bad character . He believes he is invincible. There is

Everything was still. This was nature. These words are how he observes the nature surrounding

We Must Put an End to Frivolous Inmate Lawsuits Essay
We Must Put an End to Frivolous Inmate Lawsuits
Our forefathers were bright enough to establish a system of government with a series of checks
and balances to maintain a balanced government. For the past decade a series of checks and
balances has begun to fail our government. In our failing system of government inmates have taken
advantage of the court system and have flooded it with an inconceivable number of frivolous
lawsuits. Laurel Walters, a writer for the Christian Science Monitor, investigated inmates lawsuits
and found that these recreational litigators...are suing the courts as an intramural sports activity.

These frivolous lawsuits are costing law abiding tax payers billion every year.
Frivolous lawsuits can be found in every state around the nation. In New York inmates have sued
over bad haircuts and melted ice cream and their constitutional right to use beige towels instead of
white ones. (New York Times, B2). In Texas an inmate claimed he was subject to cruel and unusual
punishment because he was served chunky instead of smooth peanut butter. In Massachusetts a
recaptured prison escapee sued because the state threw out the personal property he left behind.
Lloyd Duhaime a writer for the Citizens Against Lawsuit Abuse quotes one extreme case that took
place in California. The ingenuity of this following lawsuit goes without parallel. An inmate filed a
$5 million lawsuit against himself (claiming he violated his own civil rights by getting arrested)
but insisted the state pay because he was a ward of the state (web site).
A by product of these frivolous cases are skyrocketing costs. Paper work costs, clerical costs,
lawyers and court fees accompany every case. Even for the most frivolous of lawsuits all of
these costs must be paid. Most often this bill is paid by tax payers as inmates are able to claim
pauper status to avoid the bills. By the time a case comes before a judge with the ability to toss it
out, the costs associated with the case can run as high as $4,500. Obviously, something needs to be
done.

What Makes Architecture Real
Project Report:
Jon 9. Grade
Architecture
Architecture is a word of common knowledge, as I think it should and is at least for the people
around me that i know. For me the word is always associated with architect, because an architect is
the one who makes architecture real. Architecture as people understand it nowadays probably came
to life with the species homo sapiens because they are self conscious, before it was just a very
primitive thing. You could say DNA is an architect because it builds, in fact it is probably the best
and wisest architect humans know of, therefore we are also architecture because anything that is
built and is physical can be architecture by definition even Wikipedia states that. This is is all very
philosophical.
All form of art are connected with philosophy and so is architecture. Architecture is considered art,
plus everything that involves with it like the process of designing.
Architecture was the first art form on this planet, everything existing is in reality architecture,
noone never said architecture had to be created by a conscious being. If universe just came into
existence, therefore nothingness itself is an architect.
Therefore nothingness could be conscious, just vacuum or something more. ... Show more content

Richard Blanco s New Identity
Richard Blanco s diverse background makes him relatable for people of multinational
upbringings. His writing thoroughly appealed to me because he did such a good job capturing
the emotions of a child coming into a new world. Having experienced that, I wanted to see if I
could have that effect on people. I used some of the techniques that Blanco uses, in my poem New
Identity , to familiarize the reader with what he has been through. Richard Blanco accustoms the
reader to his experiences by using figurative language, diverse diction, and allusions. First of all,
Richard Blanco s poems are loaded with figurative language: mostly metaphors and similes. One
reason he uses his figurative language is to help the reader visualize the setting. In... Show more

The way he used words from another language really showed the cultural mix in him. For example
in his poem America , he uses Spanish word like Mercado (line 17) or TГa (Line 1) that even if the
reader is not a Spanish speaker, the reader could probably figure out. I could not do that with my
language because we have an entirely different alphabet that most readers are not familiar with.
Therefore, I had to write the words in my language using the English alphabet. For example on
line 6 of my poem, I use the word Jannah which means paradise in Arabic. I specifically used
Arabic words that were religious to show the tight bond between my culture and my religion.
Richard also uses specific words to help readers read in between the lines. For example, Richard
Blanco said in his poem America, Prepared the poor fowl (line 58). When he said poor fowl, it
gave the impression that the grandmother did not like having to prepare the turkey and wishes
she did not have to do it. I used diction in my poem in this way in my poem when I said; Warm
hugs from my begetters (line 8). I used the word begetters, which gives the impression that my
parents and I were not close which the case was. By analyzing Blanco s use of diction, I enhanced
my poem by mimicking his

Counseling For Alcohol And Drug Abuse
In Counseling for Alcohol and Drug Abuse, the need to use different techniques is an integral part
of the process. Working with an individual that is either entering into recovery or actively in
recovery, the clinician must take their time with introducing the 12 Steps. The individual may not
be open to the 12 Step philosophies at the onset. Addictionis very complex and actively affects the
person on a daily basis; therefore, it is so important to start from the beginning of counseling to
create a structured program. Alcoholics Anonymoushas given a wonderful platform of structure for
the addicted ones to create a safe, solid, 12 Step guideline to follow, in order to maintain Continual
Sobriety, One day at a time. Many counselors... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Some of these false beliefs are that 12 Step programs are Cults, they are for old people, they are
religious, they brainwash people, sometimes they make you want to drink or use after going to a
meeting. These notions are false and inaccurate. It is usually individuals that have gone to the
meetings for a short amount of time and they are unable to sustain consistency. These individuals
do not get involved in service and they often return to using drugs or drinking again due to not
being done, with using substances. In the therapy interaction, these misconceptions must be heard
by the therapist and given ample time in counseling to talk about and unpacked, for further
qualification. This may take time and patients to hear these feelings and to process with the client.
In facilitating effective treatment while counseling, it is imperative that a person be listened to
and validated for their feelings. It is the counselor s job to find an opening to interject and
challenge the client to see how thorough they were in their attempt to gain sobriety. Usually in
doing this, the clinician is able to allow the client to see some of the half measures they took at
these past attempts and failures. In the Big Book of Alcoholics Anonymous in How it Works, it
reads, Half measures availed us nothing. We stood at the turning point, we asked His protection and
care with complete abandon. These are the areas that allow

Compare And Contrast The Election Of 1824 And 1828
The elections of 1824 and 1828
Main idea: Adams and jackson introduce new ways of campaigning in the elections of 1824 and
1828
1. The election of 1824 had three candidates that were favorite suns or candidates supported by their
home state rather than by their national party. These candidates were Henry Clay, John quincy
Adams, and Andrew jackson.
2. Jackson had the most votes but less than a majority of a plurality. Since no one had a majority
then the house of representatives had to choose the next president of the united states but before the
houses had voted on the president adams and clay had made a deal that clay would use his

rights of the federal government.
1. Many Americans had disagreed on the subject of tariffs or a fee paid by merchants who
imported goods out of country. In 1828 congress had passed a tariff that had placed a higher fee
on imported goods from britain which had benefitted america because a lot of goods were imported
from britain. Tariffs had split the nation in two one side being against and one side supporting it.
Most Americans from the northwest had supported the tariff on britain because it had benefited
them.

Organisational Theory In Organizational Behavior
Sociology, psychology, communication, management, economics and human resource studies are
fields that comprise of organizational behavior. Within each of the theorists preferred model of
theory, their basis for conducting research is to examine how individuals and their behaviors
influence the environment. As evident by the available literature, each theorist uses modern
organizational studiesin order to understand, control, predict, and explain some phenomenon based
on a particular need. In the 1900s, theories were formulated around production and economic goals.
In the 1960 and 70s, theories were heavily influenced by social psychology and quantitative
research and in the 1980s, literature then expanded to providing cultural explanations of
organizations with influences from psychology, sociologyand anthropology, shifting from
quantitative to qualitative research as an acceptable method for conducting research.
The vast literature on organizational theory demonstrates that while there is no single way to
structure an organization, there are some commonly accepted general principles that can be
identified. For this particular literature review, my topic will focus primarily on the variation of
productivity and its influence in organizational theory as it relates to participant involvement,
motivation and decision making.

Examples Of Sigmund Freud Thou Shalt Love Thy Neighbor As...
Sigmund Freud responds to the commandment, Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself by
recognizing the culture of personal ego and human aggression shown during the laws of society
that protect the love of objects (Freud 232). Sigmund Freud stated that the only reason that people
support laws is that it enable them to keep the objects of their lives close to them, builds new love
relationships, and protects friendships with other people in the community. Some people follow
this commandment because it focuses on the want to create new love relationships with others.
People do not support laws that will cause anxiety and chaos to their family, communities and
themselves. Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself is a language of sublimation symbolizing human
wish have a loving relationship with others. Freud believes that sublimation has been just a
function of one s ego that makes them want, love it: it is not a conscious thought. People will
abide by laws that show thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself because they have an unconscious
want to do so since they want to be loved and want their loving relationships protected and be
supported by their neighbors.
Freud referred to the Hobbes argument that humans are naturally hostile to one another, humans
depend on their own man made devices and hostile nature, leading humanity into a war where a
man will be against each other (Hobbes 1906, 96). Human civilization is an effort to set up
limitations for man s aggressive

Analysis of Cyrano de Bergerac as a Romantic Work Essay
Analysis of Cyrano de Bergerac as a Romantic Work
Appeal to emotions, individualism, and intellectual achievement were three important elements of
Romanticism. This essay will explore the degree to which Cyrano de Bergerac exemplifies these
elements of Romanticism.
First and foremost is the appeal to emotions. All of the other facets of romanticism can be related to
the emotional appeal in Cyrano de Bergerac. Because strong emotional appeal is perhaps the most
important method used by the author to create identity with the reader, especially in romantic
works, the actions which elicit the emotional responses must, then, show a great deal about the
character. The character s motives and philosophies can be determined... Show more content on

The reader feels strongly for Cyrano to go for it! and is proud and respectful toward him because of
his magnelephant actions.
Cyrano s actions and the resulting emotional response from the reader, then, portray him as an
individual. During this age of romanticism, this was considered to be the chic thing to do. Here we
have the feeling of the fashionability of Cyrano s actions. He is a moral leader which the people
look up to.
As the play progresses, we are shown various incidents in the play which elicit emotional
responses from the reader: the longing Cyrano has for Roxane; his belief that he can never have
her because of his appearance; a comical intervention as Christian gets a nose up on Cyrano;
Cyrano and Christian working together to court Roxane; the author of the letters to Roxane being
unknown to her; the passionate speech which Cyrano delivers to Roxane from behind the shrub;
the existence of the cadets in such grim conditions; the death of Christian; the final resolution of
Cyrano s love for Roxane and his death.
These emotions are what define the play and make it great.
A second characteristic of romanticism is individualism. Throughout the play, it is regarded as
noble in spirit to be individualistic, and Cyrano demonstrates to this effect repeatedly. His white
plumes of freedom are perhaps the most vivid example of this independent spirit. He openly and
willingly defies the standards set forth by traditional culture in

Deductive Arguments For Universal Healthcare
Final Paper Universal Healthcare
Chrystal M Bare
PHI103 Informal Logic
Instructor Christopher DeFusco Ph D.
November 24, 2017
Chosen Topic:
Should Universal Healthcare be available to all regardless of their ability to pay in the same way
that other services like education are available to all for free?
Universal Healthcare means that all individuals can use medical services as preventative, curative,
and rehabilitative care when they need it regardless of their income levels. Universal healthcare
guarantees that these services are available to everyone. The U.S. is in talks now for a single payer
system which would provide health insurance in place of private companies to bring more access to
medical to the lower class and the thousands of under or uninsured.
P1: Universal Healthcare would reduce long term costs.
P2: Everyone has a right to see a doctor.
P3: Universal Healthcare would improve public health overall, with preventative care and overall
health management.
C: Therefore universal healthcare should be available to every person as a government funded
program.
This is a deductive argument. A deductive argument is an argument that is intended by the arguer to
be deductively valid. As the deductive arguer here I am attempting to provide the truth of the
conclusion that is provided by my arguments premises and they should be true statements.
Premise one: Universal Healthcare would reduce long term costs.
A single payer system would eliminate

Denis Diderot Research Paper
Denis Diderot was born on 5 October 1713 and died on 31 July 1784. Denis was a French
philosopher, art critic, and writer. He was a prominent figure during the Enlightenment and is best
known for serving as co founder, chief editor, and contributor to the encyclopedia along with Jean
le Rond d Alembert. Diderot s literary reputation during his lifetime rested primarily on his plays
and his contributions to the Encyclopedia; many of his most important works, such as Jacques the
Fatalist, Rameau s Nephew, and D Alembert s Dream, were published only after his death. Andre
Le Briton, a bookseller and printer, approached Diderot with a project for the publication of a

Character Analysis Of Character Names In Wuthering Heights
Character Names (come back to)
Lockwood, a prospective tenant at Thrushcross Grange, is who Nelly tells her story to. It is her
explanation to him that the readers learn about most of the events that occurred at Wuthering
Heights and Thrushcross Grange.
Heathcliff, a mild mannered owner of Wuthering Heights, has a relationship with Catherine that
demonstrates how class distinctions dictated romantic life and life in general in the 18th and 19th
century.
Joseph, a grumpy servant at Wuthering Heights, is the only of the few objective character
throughout the story, as he hates everyone nearly equal.

A couple of prevalent symbol of Wuthering Height are houses Wuthering Heights and Thrushcross
Grange, both of immense importance, while heavily contrasting in appearance.Thrushcross Grange
is a place of lush vegetation and livelihood.Thrushcross represents the civilization, as it is grand and
beautiful, making it extremely hospitable and welcoming. For the most part, everything that
happens in the house is contained and under control by the Lintons. The family eats dinner on time,
dresses formally, and in general acts proper toward each other. Fundamentally, Thrushcross is
where societal norms are held and enforced by choice.
On the other hand, Wuthering Heights is a place of unruly weather and is centuries old, standing
the test of time. Even the residents match persona, as they constantly lash out at each other in rage
and conduct other mischievous behavior, like sneaking out, gambling, and abusing alcohol. The
house s overall atmosphere is personified in Heathcliff, a strong willed unwavering individual, who
will stop at nothing to get what he wants. Wuthering Heights is where primal instinct reins master,
with both manors helping Emily Bronte demonstrate the stark clash between nature and civilization.

The Truth About Pancreatic Cancer Essay
1.1Pancreatic cancer
Pancreatic cancer is a highly lethal disease that is ranked fourth among cancer related deaths in
Norway. 31 Yearly 600 650 new cases are detected, corresponding to 7 per 100 000 inhabitant. The
survival rate five years after diagnosis is very low, at only 5 %. 19 Approximately 90 % of patients
diagnosed with advanced pancreatic cancer survive less than one year, with a median survival of 5
6 months. The high mortality rate is connected to late diagnosis, early metastasis and poor response
to chemo and radiotherapy. 34 Pancreatic cancer can be inherited, but 90 % of cases are
considered sporadic. 19 The major histological type of pancreatic cancer is ductal pancreatic
adenocarcinoma which account for 80 % of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Evidence shows that some families have increased risk of pancreatic cancer, implying a genetic
contribution. 28 The genetic base for this increased risk has not been identified yet, but
mutations in BRCA2 and PALB2, among others, are associated with greater risk of disease 37.
Only 5 10 % of patients have a family history of the disease. 19 It has been shown that in families
with four or more cases of pancreatic cancer the risk of disease is 57 times higher than in families
with no history of disease. 19
1.1.2Stage and diagnostics
Pancreatic cancer tumors are staged according to tumor node metastasis (TNM) classifications of
the American Joint Committee on Cancer (AJCC). The staging of tumors is based on tumor size
and localization, and connected to resectability. 19 Further staging reflect whether lymph node
metastasis (N stage) or distant metastasis (M stage) are present. Tumor stage, nodal stage and
distant metastasis are combined into stages which tell about the overall disease. See Table 1 for
complete overview of this staging strategy. 19

The Evolution Of Ancient Wargames
Evolution of Sports
This paper is about the evolution of ancient wargames, more specifically, how they evolved into
sports. The focus herein will include an explanation regarding the path of how wargames turned
into the modern sport of Fencing throughout the period of recorded history, the cultural influences
that impacted changes along the way, and the similarities that still remain.
ROOT ORIGINS
The origin of Fencing can be traced in some manner, all the way back to the prehistoric era. By
Fencing, we re of course talking about the sport of swordplay and organized (and weaponized)
competition one one one. We are of course not talking about building a wall. As any mildly
educated individual can no doubt guess, walls are for cowards, and ... Show more content on

Thus, French and Italian Fencing masters spread this doctrine throughout their schools in the 16th
century (Wikipedia).
EVOLUTION AND CULTURAL INFLUENCE
The cultural influences of Fencing are quite thick. Most of this can be traced in a linear fashion
if we observe the history of the sport from when it picked up its name as we know it today. There
are periods throughout history and prehistory where armed combat, in general, was something
that was measured competitively. Let us glimpse through time. As mentioned above, the earliest
records were dated back to the 11th century B.C.E., from there, Homer s Iliad mentions hero
duels of single combat, as well as gladiatorial combat. Gladiatorial combat was likely rarely
person versus person, so much as it was thousands versus thousands. Though warriors that dueled
in this era were lightly armored and used various other weapons aside from swords as the main
weapon, and was oft accompanied by a shield.
There used to be duels between two individuals and sometimes entire armies. It was used in the
ancient era after the fall of Rome to settle disputes and to deal justice (Castello).
From there, the medieval era holds some interesting insight. Schools arose that taught sword
fighting, though, at this point in time, it is not yet known as Fencing. Written works were produced
at the request of members of the periods wealthy and nobility. Though rare, the Royal

The Change in Food Production in Pollan’s The
Ominvore’s...
Food production has changed drastically throughout the span of this country s history, shifting from
small scale farms into mega facilities that horde animals inhumanely. In Pollan s The Ominvore s
Dilemma, he showcases the transformative nature of food production throughout the years, by
emphasizing the commercialization and industrialization aspects of this continual foodevolution.
Though Pollan expresses his opinions on modern day methods of food production and
categorization of these means of production, he experiences the dilemma that is commonly faced
by many individuals in this day and age. Therefore, he undergoes the endeavor to find the solution
to this national dilemma.
He poses the question: what should we have for dinner? ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Many consumers are not able to see where their food comes from, similarly to how the corn no
longer has the information of how it was produced. The change in food production also is
evident in the decline in personal nature via packaging. Two centuries ago, people were able to
purchase their corn from the farm where the corn had been grown and most likely where they had
developed a more personal linkage with the farmer on a local level. Now, the connection between
the source of consumer s food production and the consumer itself are separated by thousands of
miles, lacking communication, acknowledgement, and awareness of the production process. Pollan
implements something as simple as a produce sack to showcase the reality that modern day
consumers are denied their right to know where and how their food was developed, violating one
foundation of food justice: the right to know what one is eating.
A possible explanation for why food production has changed so much can be that its consumers
have also evolved as a society the commercialization of agriculture has culminated this alteration
within the industry. The consumer s desire to connect back with their ancestors can be easily
ascertained by going to healthier markets like Wholefoods, among others. Pollan compares
Wholefoods to a good quality bookstore, filled with extensive nutritional vocabulary on their
packaging. However, much of it is not

Satire On Homelessness
omelessness does not discriminate; it can affect people from all walks of life no matter sex, race, or
religion. Last year alone, more than 3.5 million people experienced homelessness. Thirty five %
affecting families with children and mental illness contribute to the lowest at twenty% (Students
against Hunger). There are many different homeless population in between, such as military
veterans, children under the age of 18, and those that have experienced domestic violence just to
name a few. Homelessnessis a social problem because it depletes federal funding, increases taxes,
and can lead to criminal activity. The reaction to homelessness regarding the homeless is a social
problem in itself. It seems that Americans view homelessness as a threat to society, an
embarrassment, and sometimes one may even try to act as though the problem does not even exist.
They turn their heads in shame, disgust, pity, distaste and fear. When thinking about the
Conservative views on homelessness in my community, I immediately think about the old Symbolic
Interaction Theory, where it is believes that homelessness is a personal deficiency. According to
our text, society s individualistic culture persuades them that homelessness is a direct result of the
victims doing by lack of motivation and intelligence, as well as being responsible for their own
social standing that puts individuals in the situation of being homeless in the first place (pg.48)

attempt to mathematically model both three phase and six phase induction motor for comparison of
their characteristics. Using this mathematical modeling a Simulink model is created whose results

sustained by three phase induction motor of same design parameters. The six phase motor is better
not just in torque handling capacity but it also has inherent advantages of the multiphase induction

muscles and controls the outer limit of the fascial muscles of thigh. The muscles are separated by
intermuscular septa, which are the fibrous connective tissue layers that partition musclegroups in the

The Manhattan Project Analysis
Starting in 1942, the United States Army, working with the American Government, created a top
secret program named the Manhattan project. In present day 2015 it is still unclear if there was
a specific motif that drove to the creation of the bomb. Nevertheless it can be speculated that the
attacks on Pearl Harbor are largely attributed its creation. In essence, the Bomb (later named fat
boy) had the capabilities to destroy an entire city and was only going to be used when completely
necessary. Promptly enough, a conference was held in July of 1945 in Cecilienhof, Germany called
the Potsdam Conference. The meeting involved the leaders of The Three Powers of USSR, Britain,

Reggio Emilia Approach
For this reflection we were to write about an educational setting that we had been in and what we
saw and learned from it. The educational setting that I will be talking about is the Grand Rapids
Early Discovery Center. This school has a different approach than many other schools. They have
the Reggio Emilia Approach, which is an innovative and inspiring approach to early childhood
education. This approach is very interesting, and new ways of teaching children concepts. Children
are capable of being able to generate their own learning. They find the children s interests, and find
ways to help the children understand the information. Another thing about the Reggio Emilia
approachis the children are the communicators. Children are encouraged to use their words to
communicate with both students and teachers. If there is a problem between two students, it is
important to have the children talk to each other and work out the problem. Next, something that
was very interesting about this approach is the way they document information. During the day they

The approach the teacher took was by having them sit by each other and tell each other how they
felt. This worked well, because they were able to learn from it, and it did keep the argument going.
Another thing that I learned was how although teaching plans in advance are important, it is also
important to be able to recognize the children s interests, and apply them in the classroom. Lastly,
another thing that I learned was that it is important to let the children help lead discussions. By
doing this they feel more involved and it can enhance

The auditor also obtained an understanding of the business and its environment in order to assess
the risk of material misstatement. ISA 310 requires a reasonable understanding of the client s

  • 3. The Radical Feminist View of the Family Essay The Radical Feminist View of the Family Feminism is the belief that women are unfairly treated in society and it should be changed in order to create equality with men. However not all feminists believe the same and there ideas vary. Radical Feminists believe that it has been built into the way society is structured that men are allowed to exploit and oppress women. They call this patriarchy. They believe that abuse in the family is down to men being psychologically warped by centuries of patriarchy into being unable to accept women as equals. Shulamith Firestone developed a theory in the 1960 s when Radical Feminists began seeking to overturn what at the time was seen as grotesque and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Men control children using physical and psychological abuse but in some case sexual dominance is used. Therefore Firestone believed that the sexual abuse of women and children was not about sexual deviance at all but about power. Over the centuries men have become adapted to the power held over women so find it difficult to accept them as equals. Firestone decided the only solution to this problem was for women and children to live totally separated from men, and to even do away with them completely. However today Firestones theories are not very fashionable, although they do have some truth in them. Violent male partners kill 100 women a year while only 4 men a year are killed by violent women partners, and most of all child abuse cases is committed by men. Liberal Feminists unlike Radical Feminists believe that over time as the old fashioned views have broken down, many new laws have been changed that help to give women equality and there has been a steady improvement in women s careers in society. Functionalist and the New Right are against feminism, as they believe the nuclear family is the ideal living arrangement as women can stay home and do domestic chores while men go and provide for the family like it was centuries ago. • 4. Cultural Context Of Immigrants And Refugees My Experience with the Cultural Context of Immigrants and Refugees Description of Context The cultural immersion for the immigrants and refugees group is taken from a first hand experience with a family from hurricane Katerina. Livingston, Alabama is right off the interstate 59/20, which a main evacuation route from the gulf coast. When hurricane Katerina hit in 2005, several families found comfort in our small town. I was able to form a relationship with a family that occupied one of my friend s homes. The family was from the New Orleans area. The family had three children. Majority of their belonging were left at home. The only things the large family was able to bring was what could fit in one car. The oldest daughter joined my sixth grade class. Experience Modality In 2005, a category 5 hurricane hit the gulf coast, New Orleans, Biloxi, and Gulf Shores. This hurricane was well known before it actually landed in the shore. Families had limited time to pack up their belonging and move in shore. Livingston, Alabama was on the evacuation route for one family. This family made Livingston their new home for about a year. They had communication with their community back home. They had all intentions to move back to their home, but decided to state their new life in a different costal city. What I Learned About self in reaction to cultural experience. Being a refugee was a very hard concept for me to fully understand in my young age. I did not watch the new to know the ... • 5. Journal Report On Journal ( Trip ) ( 2011-2012 Item No. 1 Journal (Trip to France) 2011 2012Item No. 1 The first item in my portfolio is a journal from when my family took a trip to France. Since my dad was granted a sabbatical, our family travelled to the south of France for a year to learn French and gain cultural experience. We took this trip during the time I was in Grade 6; however, we had to take school in French instead, which was probably more difficult. I chose to add this journal because it is an accurate summary of many of the things my family did in France, and it shows my progress throughout the year learning French. In order to be able to communicate while my family was in France, all of us had to learn to speak and write in French. This was a challenge, but we took lessons ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... However, I would make sure to keep a more detailed account of what I was doing. I would need to keep a better journal so that I could remember all the things I did. There are so many things to do and see that it is nearly impossible not to forget something! In France, I learned the value of heightened social and interpersonal skills and awareness. I found that when speaking in French, I was much more confident than when I spoke in English, and this led to me being less introverted. By writing a journal, I also learned how to summarize facts concisely, and how to communicate effectively. This journal demonstrates that I have effective communication skills, especially in writing. It also shows how I am always working to improve my general skill set. You can see this throughout the journal, as my French gets better and better! Rock (Asteroids Game) July 2013Item No. 2 As the second item in my portfolio, I chose to add a rock. Although a rock is something very ordinary, to me it represents something very special: the time when I created a clone of the arcade game Asteroids. This was significant because it was the first time I had created a video game that actually looked professional; it was also the first video game for which I developed a fully functional computerized opponent. I chose a rock to represent part of me in my portfolio, because it is a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. The Circular Plot In John Steinbeck s Of Mice And Men The Circular Plot in Of Mice and Men The author, John Steinbeck, utilizes a circular plot structure in his novel, Of Mice and Men, to show how prejudice and the impossibility of wishful desires will always be prevalent in society. He integrates multiple examples through the characters of this story; each individual representing a role in society. As Lennie and George travel from ranch to ranch, their dreams are challenged and Lennie is one of many who faces discrimination. To commence, repetition is used to introduce how Lennie has always been discriminated against due to his mental disability. For example, as they arrived on the new ranch, Lennie claims George said he was his cousin to the boss they had met. Conversely, George retorts that what he said was a lie, declaring that if he was a relative of [Lennie], [he d] shoot [himself] (Steinbeck 24). This illustrates how Lennie is often ridiculed for his condition, George concealing it to avoid losing their opportunity of receiving the Job on the ranch. This moment is one of many situations George has mistreated Lennie to some extent. Further evidence is when George explains to Slim what had discouraged him from mocking Lennie. He confesses to Slim that he played jokes on Lennie because it made him appear smart alongside of him, only stopping when he orders Lennie to jump in the lake. Lennie couldn t swim a stroke and he was so nice to [George] for [pulling] him out of the water in time to save his life (Steinbeck ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Introduction In this documents, I am going to be explaining the impact of organisational policies on the troubleshooting and repair process, I am going to be talking about the organisational policies, such as considerations e.g. security, costs, systems downtime, disruption, resource allocation, prioritisation, contractual requirements, trend analysis, escalation procedures, documentation, reporting, contractual legal issues.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Resources should be well balanced so if the resources are not needed they shouldn t been used. Prioritisation The company should prioritize some of the aspect when performing repair as they might be more important and they should be repaired first. For example if network is down and at the same time printer is not working. The person that perform repair should concentrate on repairing network instead of printer as without network printer would be useless. Contractual Requirements In a company, the support team staff would be required to work shifts that will provide coverage for the employees when the offices are officially opened, they will also need to provide extra time in the evening and weekends, where they will carry out the essential maintenance which may have to involve some downtime. The hours that an employee will have to work will be set out for them in what is called an employment contract. They will be limited by the EU legislation and some other regulations such as working time regulations, which will provide the basic right and protections such as: A worker can be required to work at most an average of 48 hours a week (though workers can choose to work more if they want to). • 8. Political Parties In California Weak Parties, Strong Partisanship California is known for being a very liberal blue state. California is almost guaranteed to vote democratically in a presidential election and much of the country considers themselves democratic. The areas that are more conservative in California are also very adamant in their beliefs. The two major political parties in Californiaare extremely polarized and have extremely high partisanship. The parties themselves however are extremely weak. The idea that parties can have high levels of partisanship but be weak is extremely confusing. It has much to do with the way California s politics have been established and the level of direct democracyin the state. Naturally, political parties tend to be distinct... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Most local elections in California are nonpartisan. A nonpartisan election is an election in which the parties of the candidates are not printed on the ballots. Although the candidates may identify with one of the political parties, their preference is not shown on the ballot during the election. This causes candidates to have to work harder for their votes and make their agendas known to the public rather than relying on their political party to get them elected. In order for politicians to move up in the political ladder, they must have contributed greatly to their local office and have a decent resume to get them through. In a partisan election, candidates may be able to rely on his or her partisanship to get them elected. For example in a largely democratic area, a candidate may simply be elected just because his name is next to the word democrat on the ballot. This in turn strengthens the parties role because that candidate would owe the party for his or her election. Since California holds nonpartisan elections, candidates owe nothing to the party for their success during an election. They are able to move up in politics based on the impact they had made during their previous role. Although a large amount of the state offices has partisan elections, by the time a candidate has made it to a state election they have made a name for themselves without relying on the party to speak for them. • 10. How The Diaspora Helped Violence Essay How the Diaspora helped Violence Having established the motives for the Diaspora aiding the nationalist, now it needs to be analyzed what the diaspora actually did to aid the nationalist movement. The aid can be broken down into three categories, financial, political and physical aid. The first and the biggest being financial aid and this type of aid was collected by members of the Irish Diaspora in the US then given to various different nationalist groups. Seldom was the money given to violent groups like the IRA but instead was given to other groups and in turn led to the purchasing of arms or goods and stuff like that which the IRA could use. One of the major organizations that did this was Noraid or Irish Northern Aid. The true purpose of Noraid dealt with arms smuggling and fund raising and thus were closely aligned and allied with the IRA(Brian Hanley 2004:1). The support for Noraid in terms of funding can be tracked in the same exact way that the general diasporatic support can be tracked. The hunger strikes of 1980 81, in which IRA prisoners staged a hunger strike to protest conditions in their prison in which a few of them died, was monumental in the history of Noraid because it led to not only an increase of donation which in turn were given to IRA and groups like it but it also changed the image of Noraid in the US. It led to an increase in membership and made the organization less radical which meant that it year by year would have generally more memberships and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 11. Civil War Dbq Essay When the Civil War erupted at the attack on Fort Sumter in 1861, fighting was mainly driven by political tensions, all of which ultimately spawned from the question of slavery. During the Antebellum Period, the United States experienced a gradually intensifying sectional conflict that threatened the unity of the nation. Compromises between the North and South had become futile. Contrary to popular belief, the goals of Lincoln and the North did not involve the emancipation of slaves and restoration of equality and the opportunity of prosperity for all Americans. Most Northerners fought to preserve the newly split Union, while Southerners fought to protect what they believed to be inalienable states rights. Ultimately, precarious African American... Though this statement only freed slaves in regions still participating in rebellion, it demonstrated a shift in purpose and gave the North moral justification to fight in the war. By thrusting themselves into the war effort, African Americans changed a war based on political disagreements and state power into a war to terminate and forever prohibit slavery. (Doc. D) This document may be considered bias, especially by Confederate sympathizers, because it was written by members of the Republican Party platform most of which heavily advocated emancipation. Lincoln, who initially remained neutral on the topic of slavery, became inspired by the willingness with which African Americans stake their lives for us, they must be prompted by the strongest motive even the promise of freedom. And the promise being made, must be kept. (Doc. • 13. Why I Want To Dance In High School The anticipation as I stand in the concrete tunnel under the bleachers is my life s biggest moment of uncertainty. Will the crowd stand on their feet in a standing ovation, or will the crowd deem me as mediocre? As I look to my left and right, my teammates faces assure me that their nervous excitement is identical to mine. When I hear the announcer on the loudspeaker and hear the students shouts, I know it is time to walk on the sharp green blades on the field under the shining Friday night lights. As a little girl, I would constantly walk on my toes. Because of this tendency, my parents enrolled me in a beginner ballet class at the age of three. I learned how to walk like a ballerina, the art of pointing my toes properly, and how to properly curtsy at the end of class. Throughout the months leading up to the recital, my classmate and I learned a piece to perform, and I practiced in class and at home for my parents and brother. On the day of the recital, I performed the dance perfectly in my green sparkly tutu and the smallest size ballet slippers. However, I was disgruntled with the other baby ballerinas for making mistakes on the stage. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Toward the end of my sophomore year, I achieved a balance. Charles Barkley, a professional basketball player, said in a popular Nike ad, I m not a role model. Just because I dunk a basketball doesn t mean I should raise your kids (Don t forget bout me u dipwad!!!). This sparked the debate; Should pro athletes be role models? Children need a true hero to look up to, and these athletes satisfy that need. These athletes show the features of a hero, not a criminal. According to Tom Keane, a former Boston city councilor and Boston Globe Columnist, wrote this in an article: The rate of arrest of pro athletes for assault and domestic violence was less than half that of the general population. This applied for other crimes as well. It seems as if NFL players are committing so many crimes because every time they do, they make the news (Keane 2 3). • 16. The Importance Of Hate Speech And Hate Groups The First Amendment has brought up debates over the years, which most recently have centered around hate speech and hate groups. Congress and state governments can make no law that takes away the freedom of speech. However, some people feel that hate speech and hate groups violate their civil liberties. A hate group is an organization whose goals are based on the hatred of a specific group(s) of people, and the group must have a hate based purpose. Hate speech is speech that threatens, offends, or insults members of a group(s). All Americans have rights and liberties of their own, and wish they are not infringed by others. Despite people believing hate groups should not have the right to free speech if it is hate speech, the US Supreme Court has ruled that hate groups are protected under the First Amendment. Throughout the history of the United States, many hate groups have emerged. Today, the oldest hate group, and the most well known, is the Ku Klux Klan. It was formed in 1865, and it soon turned into a strong, violent organization. Hundreds of other hate groups have been organized and remain active today. Most hate groups in the United States are anti black, variations of the KKK, anti Muslim, general hate, white nationalist, or Neo Nazi s . Hate groups have been involved in many criminal suits, including Brandenburg v. Ohio, National Socialist Party v. Skokie, Snyder v. Phelps, and, most recently, Matal v. Tam. All four of these cases further the idea that hate speech is protected under the First Amendment. To begin with, the ruling in Brandenburg v. Ohio developed an important test to decide what speech can be prohibited, which makes this case significant. Brandenburg v. Ohio was a case in 1969 over a law in Ohio that criminalized advocating various illegal activities that put Brandenburg, a KKK leader in prison. The US Supreme Court took on this case and declared that Ohio s law violated the First, and Fourteenth, Amendments. The resulting test is known as the Brandenburg incitement test which allows speech to be regulated if it is directed to and likely to cause imminent violent act . Ohio s law made the advocacy illegal, but it did not take into part whether or not the speech incited lawless ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Factors the contribute to homelessness includes job loss, divorce, domestic abuse, foreclosure of home, serious illness, mental and physical illness, substance abuse and even natural disasters all help to contribute to homelessness. Which shows it can happen to anyone, regardless of gender, ethnicity, religion and even social class. The concert lasted for about 2 hours with a 15 minute intermission. Although the concert started a little late, the first piece was Mozart s ConcertoNo. 3, which he composed when he was 19. The instruments played in this piece were 2 flutes, 2 oboes, 2 horns, and strings. The violinsoloist was Karen Gomyo. There were 3 movements to this piece, and as I learned in class, this was definitely a classical concerto. The first movement is played Allegro in Sonata form. The mood of this movement was bright and cheerful. I liked how the orchestra accompanied the violin. In the second movement it was played Adagio. Because the movement was slower, the mood was a little more tranquil. I liked this movement, because you could hear the violin solo playing an octave higher than the orchestra. The third movement which was the finale, was played Rondeau Allegro. In this movement, I really enjoyed the playfulness of this movement. The violin solo was quite impressive. Overall, this entire piece was quite enjoyable, I really liked the playing back and forth with the solo and orchestra. The orchestra played in tune and everyone was definitely playing in rhythm and were well prepared. I ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Likewise, it is also most certainly a gift to have the ability to experience the wonders of the outside world. His writing thoroughly appealed to me because he did such a good job capturing the emotions of a child coming into a new world. Having experienced that, I wanted to see if I could have that effect on people. I used some of the techniques that Blanco uses, in my poem New Identity , to familiarize the reader with what he has been through. For example in his poem America , he uses Spanish word like Mercado (line 17) or TГa (Line 1) that even if the reader is not a Spanish speaker, the reader could probably figure out. I could not do that with my language because we have an entirely different alphabet that most readers are not familiar with. Therefore, I had to write the words in my language using the English alphabet. For example on line 6 of my poem, I use the word Jannah which means paradise in Arabic. I specifically used Arabic words that were religious to show the tight bond between my culture and my religion. Richard also uses specific words to help readers read in between the lines. For example, Richard Blanco said in his poem America, Prepared the poor fowl (line 58). When he said poor fowl, it gave the impression that the grandmother did not like having to prepare the turkey and wishes she did not have to do it. I used diction in my poem in this way in my poem when I said; Warm hugs from my begetters (line 8). • 41. Examples Of Sigmund Freud Thou Shalt Love Thy Neighbor As... Sigmund Freud responds to the commandment, Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself by recognizing the culture of personal ego and human aggression shown during the laws of society that protect the love of objects (Freud 232). Sigmund Freud stated that the only reason that people support laws is that it enable them to keep the objects of their lives close to them, builds new love relationships, and protects friendships with other people in the community. Some people follow this commandment because it focuses on the want to create new love relationships with others. People do not support laws that will cause anxiety and chaos to their family, communities and themselves. Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself is a language of sublimation symbolizing human wish have a loving relationship with others. Freud believes that sublimation has been just a function of one s ego that makes them want, love it: it is not a conscious thought. People will abide by laws that show thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself because they have an unconscious want to do so since they want to be loved and want their loving relationships protected and be supported by their neighbors. Freud referred to the Hobbes argument that humans are naturally hostile to one another, humans depend on their own man made devices and hostile nature, leading humanity into a war where a man will be against each other (Hobbes 1906, 96). Analysis of Cyrano de Bergerac as a Romantic Work Essay Analysis of Cyrano de Bergerac as a Romantic Work Appeal to emotions, individualism, and intellectual achievement were three important elements of Romanticism. This essay will explore the degree to which Cyrano de Bergerac exemplifies these elements of Romanticism. First and foremost is the appeal to emotions. All of the other facets of romanticism can be related to the emotional appeal in Cyrano de Bergerac. Because strong emotional appeal is perhaps the most important method used by the author to create identity with the reader, especially in romantic works, the actions which elicit the emotional responses must, then, show a great deal about the character. Cyrano s actions and the resulting emotional response from the reader, then, portray him as an individual. During this age of romanticism, this was considered to be the chic thing to do. Here we have the feeling of the fashionability of Cyrano s actions. He is a moral leader which the people look up to. As the play progresses, we are shown various incidents in the play which elicit emotional responses from the reader: the longing Cyrano has for Roxane; his belief that he can never have her because of his appearance; a comical intervention as Christian gets a nose up on Cyrano; Cyrano and Christian working together to court Roxane; the author of the letters to Roxane being unknown to her; the passionate speech which Cyrano delivers to Roxane from behind the shrub; the existence of the cadets in such grim conditions; the death of Christian; the final resolution of Cyrano s love for Roxane and his death. These emotions are what define the play and make it great. A second characteristic of romanticism is individualism. Throughout the play, it is regarded as noble in spirit to be individualistic, and Cyrano demonstrates to this effect repeatedly. His white plumes of freedom are perhaps the most vivid example of this independent spirit. He openly and willingly defies the standards set forth by traditional culture in ... November 24, 2017 Chosen Topic: Should Universal Healthcare be available to all regardless of their ability to pay in the same way that other services like education are available to all for free? Universal Healthcare means that all individuals can use medical services as preventative, curative, and rehabilitative care when they need it regardless of their income levels. Universal healthcare guarantees that these services are available to everyone. The U.S. is in talks now for a single payer system which would provide health insurance in place of private companies to bring more access to medical to the lower class and the thousands of under or uninsured. P3: Universal Healthcare would improve public health overall, with preventative care and overall health management. The focus herein will include an explanation regarding the path of how wargames turned into the modern sport of Fencing throughout the period of recorded history, the cultural influences that impacted changes along the way, and the similarities that still remain. ROOT ORIGINS The origin of Fencing can be traced in some manner, all the way back to the prehistoric era. EVOLUTION AND CULTURAL INFLUENCE The cultural influences of Fencing are quite thick. Most of this can be traced in a linear fashion if we observe the history of the sport from when it picked up its name as we know it today. There are periods throughout history and prehistory where armed combat, in general, was something that was measured competitively. Let us glimpse through time. As mentioned above, the earliest records were dated back to the 11th century B.C.E., from there, Homer s Iliad mentions hero duels of single combat, as well as gladiatorial combat. Gladiatorial combat was likely rarely person versus person, so much as it was thousands versus thousands. Though warriors that dueled in this era were lightly armored and used various other weapons aside from swords as the main weapon, and was oft accompanied by a shield. There used to be duels between two individuals and sometimes entire armies. It was used in the ancient era after the fall of Rome to settle disputes and to deal justice (Castello). From there, the medieval era holds some interesting insight. Schools arose that taught sword fighting, though, at this point in time, it is not yet known as Fencing. Many consumers are not able to see where their food comes from, similarly to how the corn no longer has the information of how it was produced. The change in food production also is evident in the decline in personal nature via packaging. Now, the connection between the source of consumer s food production and the consumer itself are separated by thousands of miles, lacking communication, acknowledgement, and awareness of the production process. Pollan implements something as simple as a produce sack to showcase the reality that modern day consumers are denied their right to know where and how their food was developed, violating one foundation of food justice: the right to know what one is eating. A possible explanation for why food production has changed so much can be that its consumers have also evolved as a society the commercialization of agriculture has culminated this alteration within the industry.
