Controversial Immigration Issues
A controversial Issue I like to get your attention on is about Immigration. Immigration is an issue that
has been on all media outlets, but now is more current and pressing issue because of our current
president speech, and views on Immigration. The data I plan on using for this paper are news, social
networks, and online articles. Like any other issue their people with conflicting views when it comes
to this topic. In this paper, I would like to address both for and opposing views on this topic. Also,
how ethics plays a role in social media when discussing Immigration.
Immigration to the Americas started prior to the 19th century. The first Immigrants who came to the
Americas where slaves who were brought here against their will. America ... Show more content on

Everyone has their own set of ethical values by which they abide, and so does the people who
broadcast our news. News media coverage, articles online report how immigration poses a threat to
society, how most of the illegals are criminals. However, if fails to mention the immigrant side of the
story, and how certain events affects them, and what are their concerns. After reading, Reporting
Immigration by Stephen Franklin, it has given me some insight on how and what is told on media to
further appeal to society.
A recent event that happen was a day without Immigrants. This happen recently on February 16, 2017
during this day Immigrants across the states who chose to participate on this day didn t attend school,
work, or shop. It had a huge impact on the school districts they lost money, because the attendance
rates where low. Some companies supported the workers who chose to protest, however not everyone

Argumentative Essay On Korean War
Pre World War III: Korean War
In this seemingly peaceful world, the Korean Peninsula has been seen as one of the hottest potatoes in
the world. Many people do not acknowledge that the Korean War has not ended, but the event settled
with just an armistice since the tension of the war became so intense between not only two Koreans,
but other major countries such as Russia, China, and the United States. Even an armistice of the war,
there still remains severe tensions in the Korean Peninsula and because of this, questions like why
Korea has been the only divided country in the world and what has increased the tension between two
Koreans have been brought up to historians. And to the answers to the questions about the modern
Koreans is the war ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

no doubt that Korean War is influential to the both Koreas in the political side and economical side,

Physical Violence And Domestic Violence
Physical Violence
Physical abuse is defined as deliberately act which causes injuries and intentionally hurting someone
with the weapons. Physical violence is common among intimate partners. Most of the male partners
often hit their female partners when they are angry or when their partners start arguing with them.
Sometimes husband even breaks the bone of his wife over small things like if she is not ready on time
or when the food is not cooked properly. Physical violence can cause various health problems in
women like chronic joint or muscle pain, loss of hair, stab wounds, cuts, bites, sprains, chipped or lost
teeth, internal injuries, chronic headache, high blood pressure, burns, chronic stomach pain and
detached retina etc.. For example In Mumbai s Bhabha Hospital, people who are wounded among
them, the number of women is large and most of the women who come there have been victims of
domestic violence. In the consultancy department , almost 40% are women affected by domestic
violence , there are the cases of poisoning, fracture, wounds, battered women, pregnant women, who
say they fell but usually these are domestic violence cases. When the attacker was none other than her
life partner, then how can she feel safe at home. The casualty ward in this hospital gets fewer cases of
typhoid, malaria or TB and more women who are victims of domestic violence and this is about one
hospital in one locality, in one day. Using the National Family Health Survey the government did a

Significance Of The European Union
The European Union has grown from its humble beginnings of the European Coal and Steel
Community (ECSC) into a complex system of governance within Europe and it has become a key
figure internationally. The issue is whether the European Union (EU) has in this time grown into a
supranational form of governance with the establishment of treaties, or have the nation states stayed in
control. I am going to argue that the EU s supranational qualities are the allocation of shared common
interests among the nation states that compose it. It has been shown by history that the power
ultimately lies in the member state as evidenced by the need for unanimity in passing the treaties that
mandate the EU and earlier conceptions of it have resulted in the ... Show more content on

These issues were resolved allowing the member states to move forward with ratification, however,
there was a vast opposition to the Constitutional Treaty. The EU and the supporters of the treaty failed
to properly explain the Constitutional Treaty, causing it to be denied in France and the Netherlands.
The rejection of the treaty in certain states was caused by globalization, which was leading to
unemployment causing them to be alienated and frustrated, however, some of their complaints were
already apart of the European Union, so it shows the nation state has the power to accept an idea, and
then decline it at a later date as seen also by Brexit. The Lisbon Treaty stated that the power of the
European Union is given by the member states in the form of treaties, which allows the member states
to have several rights one of them being secession. The United Kingdom was one of the original
countries accepted in the enlargement of the ECSC it accepted upon joining that it would be apart of
the treaties that allowed the free movement of goods, services, capital and workers within the EU,
which was also accredited for the single market and the Euro as the result of spillover. On June 23rd,
2016 the UK voted to leave the European Union it was a rejection of free movement between the UK
and other European Nations that was sparked on by the migrant crisis since the EU was trying to put

Anger In King Lear
Anger is a common theme in literature that shapes and molds characters into who they are. The extent
and range of how far anger can be varies from story to story. In William Shakespeares King Lear,
anger goes to a far extent. This can be seen through Edmund s self pity and anger towards Gloucester
and Edgar. His anger results him into manipulation and vengence. Goneril and Regan s anger is
violent and causes them to lash out at anyone who crosses them. King Lear s anger causes him to be
hasty and excessively abrasive. In William Shakespeares King Lear, the excessive amount and extent
of anger is shown through Edmund s manipulation to his father and Edgar, Goneril and Regans
violence and King Lear s hastiness.

They are ruthless and determined in getting rid of King Lear s knights. It is understandable for Goneril
to be angry as the knights are quite rambunctious and harrass female servants. But, Goneril admits the
true reason she wants to throw them out is to strip Lear of his power. This man hath had good counsel.
A hundred knights! Tis politic and safe to let him keep at point a hundred knights! Yes, that, on every
dream, each buzz, each fancy, each complaint, dislike, he may enguard his dotage with their powers
and hold our lives in mercy. Oswald, I say! (1.4.340 347) Goneril goes beyond anger, to the point
where one is unable to sympathize with her, and heartlessly throws out her father and his knights
leaving them stranded. Their anger goes to an even higher extreme when Regan and Cornwall torture
and pluck Gloucesters eyeballs out for helping King Lear. See t shalt thou never. Fellows, hold the
chair. Upon these eyes of thine I ll set my foot. (3.7.65 66) Regan, much like her sister, is sadistic and
cruel. Regan enjoys seeing Gloucester suffer as she wants to tightly tie him to a chair Hard, hard. O

they are angry, they result to brutal behaviour making it evident that the extent of anger is excessive in

The North American Industry Classification System Essay
The North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) is the standard used by Federal
statistical agencies in classifying business establishments for the purpose of collecting, analyzing, and
publishing statistical data related to the U.S. business economy. (North American Industry
Classification System, n.d.). NAICS is a 2 through 6 digit hierarchical classification system, offering
five levels of detail. Each digit in the code is part of a series of progressively narrower categories, and
the more digits in the code signify greater classification detail. The first two digits name the economic
sector, the third digit designates the subsector, the fourth digit designates the industry group, the fifth
digit designates the NAICS industry, and the sixth digit designates the national industry. The 5 digit
NAICS code is the level at which there is comparability in code and definitions for most of the
NAICS sectors across the three countries participating in NAICS (the United States, Canada, and
Mexico). The 6 digit level allows for the United States, Canada, and Mexico each to have country
specific detail. A complete and valid NAICS code has six digits (North American Industry
Classification System, n.d.).

Derasis Human Body
The skin is the largest outermost organ of the human body, contributing to 8% of the body s total
weight, with a surface area measuring around 1.8 square metres in adulthood (Feingold, 2007). As a
result of this, humans tend to be very conscious of, and very sensitive to, the way in which their skin
looks. Despite this, many of us often under appreciate the significance of human skin; we carry out
our daily routines without any realisation or consideration of just how important skin is in protecting
us from the external environment, informing us of our surroundings and making us aware of any
potential dangers (Nickoloff Naidu, 1994).
The skin has a multifaceted structure consisting of many different components (Montagna, 1974). The

It is composed of highly vascular connective tissue (Stocum, 2006). The dermis contains a rich supply
of blood; these blood vessels dilate and contract in response to internal and external stimuli such as
anxiety and temperature (Bowers, Thompson, Miller, 1992). The dermis is therefore responsible for
regulating body temperature and blood pressure (Kemble Lamb, 1984). The blood from the dermis is
responsible for the nourishment of newly generated cells in the inner layer of the epidermis
(MacDonald, 2009). The function of the dermal connective tissue is to provide structural support for
the outer layer of the skin (Martini, Ober, Bartholomew, 1999). Sensory nerve fibres can also be found
in the dermis, which respond to touch, pain and temperature (Bryant Nix, 2012). This serves an
important role in human well being, allowing us to respond to dangers such as being burnt by a hot
object. The organisation of connective tissue permits the dermis to be flexible and contract with the
movement of the body (Starcher, 2005). This flexibility provides the body with a barrier to protect it
from friction and impact wounds (Hess, 2013). The thickness of the dermis varies across different
areas of the

Understanding The House Made of Dawn by Scott Momaday Essay
Understanding The House Made of Dawn by Scott Momaday
In 1969, N. Scott Momaday became the first Native American to win the Pulitzer Prize in the area of
Letters, Drama, and Music for best Fiction. As Schubnell relates in N. Scott Momaday: The Cultural
and Literary Background, Momaday initially could not believe that he had won a prize for a work that
began as a poem (93). Schubnell cites one juror who explains his reasoning for selecting House Made
of Dawn as being the work s eloquence and intensity of feeling, its freshness of vision and subject,
[and] its immediacy of theme (93). For these reasons and many more, House Made of Dawn hailed the

In 1946, his family moved to Jemez Pueblo, New Mexico, the place that would later become the
setting for House Made of Dawn. Here, Momaday saw swift changes roll through the tribal village,
such as: an exploding population, the infiltration of technology and the culture of Anglo America, as
well as alcoholism and crime. Momaday also witnessed the return of World War IIs soldiers, and the
confusion and despair that accompanied them (Schubnell, 19). This period of Jemez s history would
return years later in Momaday s novel, for Abel, the protagonist, is a veteran of WWII, and he, like the
soldiers of Momaday s memories, is confused and desperate. Abel also turns to alcohol for relief.
Momaday s experiences would also imprint upon his mind that only a sense of self which embraced
both Indian and non Anglican realities could lead to a worthwhile future (Schubnell, 20). Owens
suggest that it is this search for self, and a sense of identity, that lead him to write. Momaday, himself
describes identity in terms of imagination:
We are what we imagine. Our very existence consists in our imagination of ourselves. Our best destiny
is to imagine, at least, completely, who and what, and that we are. The greatest tragedy that can befall
us is to go unimagined (Owens, 93).
In an interview with Schubnell, Momaday says:
I believe that I fashion my own life out of words and

The Effect Of Ph On Enzyme Activity
The Effect of pH on Enzyme Activity
Beginning Question: How does pH affect the rate of enzymatic reactions?
Hypothesis: If the pH is around seven, then the rate of the reaction for the enzyme peroxidase will be
the highest. This is because the optimal pH range for the enzyme peroxidase is around seven and at its
optimal pH an enzyme functions the best.
Variables:
Independent ─ pH Dependent ─ rate of enzymatic reaction (measured by absorbance)
Controlled ─ amount of enzyme used, amount of hydrogen peroxide used, amount of guaiacol added
Control group ─ the reaction at the pH of seven
Safety Considerations:
1. Wear safety goggles to protect the eyes from any splashes and wearing gloves is recommended
when handling acids and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Then, measure the absorbance at the time that was decided as the optimal in step four.
Claim:
The rate of the peroxidase reaction is the highest when the pH is neutral rather than being acidic or
basic. This claim is in the accordance with the original hypothesis which stated that a pH of seven will
increase the rate of the reaction.
Evidence and Reasoning: Based on the data, the absorbance when the pH was seven was the highest.
It was the lowest in an acidic environment at a pH of three, but slightly higher than the acidic in the
basic environment at a pH of eleven. The rate of the reaction could be measured through the
absorbance. When hydrogen peroxide breaks down, it produces oxygen gas which can react with the
guaiacol to form tetraguaiacol. The solution turns brown and the darker it is, the more oxygen is
produced and the greater the absorbance. At the pH of seven, the solution was the darkest, meaning
the reaction proceeded quickly and the rate was higher. The reason that peroxidase functioned the best
at around the pH of seven is because that is the optimal pH in cells for the enzyme. Enzymes work
best at their optimal conditions. They are sensitive to their environment and tiny changes such as
changes in pH can cause them to stop functioning. The shape of the enzyme or the active site can be
changed so it will not attach to the substrate and become inactive. One

The Mormon Polygamy
INTRODUCTION
When one thinks about marriages or weddings in the United States, Americans may often
reminiscence on two individuals tying the knot. However, in the western United States, and in parts of
Canada, more and more people are practicing polygamy, which is the act of an individual marrying
another person(s), after one already has a spouse. Although the practice is illegal, individuals within
the Fundamental Latter Day Saints Church partake in the activity, as it is a divine part and calling of
their religion. The FLDS is a break off sect off the mainstream Mormon, or Church of Jesus Christ of
Latter Day Saints, Church. The Mormon Church originally practiced polygamy, up until The

polygamist communities ( Holding Out Help ). Other than that, there is not many resources or places
available for the women that are seeking justice from the harmful communities they grew up in Short
Creek. I have discovered this from my research, in addition to the lack of knowledge individuals have
about the mainstream Mormon Church, the FLDS, and polygamy. Although the Mormon Church used
to promote polygamy in the 19th century, they do not practice polygamy, at least in this lifetime,
according to Miller. They are two separate entities, and many people get confused by this. I have seen
this from my own personal experiences, when I say that I have family from the state of Utah. Many
people believe that all that there is to do in Utah is have more than one wife. I am not certain on who
needs to make sure that there is a line of difference between the Mormon Church and the Fundamental
Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, but there needs to be one if the Mormon Church wants
separation from the FLDS

Where Is The Narrator In The Cask Of Amontillado
The narration is shifted from first to second person and back to first person in the beginnings of
different novels in alternate chapters, and sometimes to third person. The author forces us, the readers,
to take on the role of the Reader that makes me the main character of the story. The story unfolds more
truths about myself and how I behave when I m about to read a novel, which literally messes with my
brains by letting me believe that I m probably being watched as I read on. Calvino successfully kept
me confused and curious throughout with his clever narration. I thought about why he chose to narrate
in the way he does, and would he ever introduce himself. In chapter Without fear of wind or vertigo,
on page 84 the narrator introduces himself as Alex Zinnober; and in the chapter Looks down in the
gathering shadow, on page 107 he introduces his name as Ruedi the Swiss. The first name almost
convinced me that Alex is the common narrator and that he sees himself in all the novels he reads one
after the other. It was probably a farfetched and premature assumption I made, but it seemed valid
until later when the name Ruedi appears. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Calvino challenges the notion of how a story is supposed to be told. I believe this novel teases upon
(or actually is) the genre of metafiction wherein there are many stories within one story. The
cliffhangers at the end of each novel reminded me of the episode The Closure Alternative in The Big

A Good Man By Flannery O Connor

Good Man What s a good man? Can it be descriptive?. And can that person be identified as a good
man who is hard to find?. The story of A Good Man is Hard to Find talks about a grandmother whose
name is not mentioned directly in the story. Mystery has it, that she has been explaining her story as if
she was the good man or who knows what she could be talking about referring someone or telling
someone that good men are hard to find. The author Flannery O connor wrote this story in 1953,
where there must different events occurring causing the relations of racism and different inventions
throughout the history that had been shaping America. Therefore, a lot of important events that must it
been happening when she was writing this story could be similar to women behaving or acting like
men who take responsibilities to different levels of structure to indeed understand the terms of a Good

uplifting depiction of someone s own will.

Orchestra Concert Report Sample
On December 2nd, 2017, I attended a concert performed by the Diablo Valley College Philharmonic
Orchestra. The concert, performed at the Diablo Valley College Performing Arts Center, was called A
Classical British Invasion and it featured pieces that were either written by British people or were
inspired by them. Since I have only listened to professional orchestras for previous concert reports, I
decided to attend a college orchestra, hoping to see the differences between a professional orchestra
and a more casual one. The first piece performed in this concert was Norfolk Scenic Overture
composed by Kenneth Ian Hytch. The piece started loudly and dramatically and it ended in a similar
fashion. A quick rhythm carried on throughout the piece. The piece was mostly polyphonic, with the
woodwinds, the strings, and the brasses playing different melodies. There were a lot of things that the
orchestra can improve on. First of all, the orchestra was rushing in several places dragging in other
places. Another problem was the balance between instruments. When the ... Show more content on

problems in this piece. For example, the violins were rushing the 16th notes. The cellos had some
intonation problems and so did the violins. The orchestra did not end together, as a few people played

The Quality Of Total Quality Management
Total quality management, also known as TQM, which is an umbrella methodology drawing on
knowledge of the principles and practices of the behavioral sciences, the analysis of quantitative and

processes. Three major contributors to the quality profession include: Walter A. Shewhart, W. Edwards
Demings, and Joseph M. Juran, who taught the concepts of controlling the quality and managerial
breakthrough. There are several common connections between the three contributors to the quality
profession. Shewhart mentored the latter two. Most of which, they adopted and reformed much of
Shewhart s work to expand and evolve their own studies. Shewhart s main focus was finding
economic ways to reduce costs by identifying problems sooner in the process variation and by
reducing the cost of inspection. Shewhart also created the process of Plan do check act. Deming
adapted this philosophy into his own work. Deming s philosophy seen quality as the main force for
businesses and society to succeed and reported this philosophy as a chain reaction. This also matched
Shewhart s principle for quality among economics. Demings and Shewhart s philosophies are similar
because both preached the importance of adapting management processes to create profitable
situations for both businesses and consumers. However, the main difference is that Deming

Disadvantages Of Engineering Materials
Introduction Engineering materials is classified into families based on their material structure,
compositions, properties etc, as shown in the figure: Metals Ferrous metals: These are the metals and
the alloys that are composed of high amounts of the iron content. These are the strongest materials that
are available and can be used in the applications where strength of the material is compulsorily high
and at a low cost and also where the weight is not a primary importance. Ferrous metals are used in
various applications such as: building of bridges, structures of huge buildings, rolling stock, the bodies
and highly stressed engine parts of vehicles running on the road, railway lines and locomotives. The
ferrous metals alone can also be divided into Groups , and these are as follows. Non ferrous metals:
These materials refer to the remaining metals known in the world. As they lack of mechanical strength
these clean metals can hardly be used as structural materials. They are used where their superior
properties such as electrical conductivity, thermal conductivity and corrosion resistance are essential.
Aluminum and Copper are used as electrical conductors and, composed with sheet zinc and sheet lead,
are used as roofing materials. They are primarily used with other metals to improve the material
strength. Some extensively used non ferrous metals and alloys that are available are shown in figure.

The Is An Internet Moral Panic Essay
As technology surrounding the internet has grown there has a been a new movement to connect the
world. Specifically, teens have become more inclined to socialize and connect with friends, family,
and strangers through the internet. Teenagers are known for being vulnerable, naïve, having a vast
desire to find acceptance with their peers or society and are obsessed with love. With the connection
of the internet, social media, and teen it has created completely new moral panic; catfishing.
According to, to Merriam Webster catfishing is defined as an individual who creates a fake profile on
a social networking site to deceive or manipulate others ( Catfish ). Primarily, those who catfish use
their fake profiles to gain romantic relationships with other social network users. Teens began creating
fake profiles through their instinct of wanting to fit in but, this led to teens catfishing to fulfill their
dreams of finding acceptance. Catfishing is an internet moral panic because it is considered a social
terror. The act of catfishing became a way for some teens to find acceptance but, parents feel that teens
are not safe on social networking sites such as; Facebook because these deceptions can cause teens
emotional and mental harm. Those constructing the moral panic continually scapegoated social
network sites for the creation of catfishing and its side effects but, the true root cause of catfishing is

Taking a Look for Clinical Depression
Everyone at some point will encounter a bout with depression. Depression is a common sickness
among people in society for many different reasons. There are numerous types of depression that can
be diagnosed on multiple levels. The diagnosis is usually determined by a primary physician who then
recommends you to either a psychologist or therapy group. Causes of depression can vary from person
to person. There are many factors to consider such as the person s situation, personality, their reactions
to events and family health history. The issues that arise from depression are bad health, heavy
drug/alcohol abuse, and the worst, suicide. Depressions problems can be combated even at its worst, it
just requires the own persons personal efforts. The most common health problems that occur are
anxiety, isolation from others and eating disorders either anorexia or obesity. These issues are already
problems for many developing teens. The need to be accepted by their peers pressures them to want to
look thin and act differently. Other teens that feel out of place become obese and loose motivation to
participate in exercise even if it is best for their health. This disease can be treated, with changing their
diet and exercise, so they do not end up killing themselves. Another concern is drug and alcohol
abusers who lead a life of hardcore drugs and heavy drinking, which can lead to over dosing and or
alcohol poisoning/bad decisions. A part of treatment could be to participate in A.A.

Andy Warhol Pop Artists
During the mid 1950 s, an art movement called Pop art began in Britain and then spread to the United
States by the late 1950 s. Pop art is created to display emotions instead of to show the actual piece of
art. This mass cultural art movement emerged in Britain, the United States, Spain, Japan, Italy,
Belgium, Netherlands, and Russia. This movement allowed artists to break the old traditions of
abstract expressionism and create new and different ideals of art with no limit. Pop art was often used
in advertising for magazines and newspapers. Two of Pop art s major artists were Andy Warhol and
Roy Lichtenstein who created art in similar but also different ways.
Andy Warhol was an American Pop artist. He was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, on August 6,
1928. He died on February 22, 1987, in New York, New York. His parents were Czechoslovakian
immigrants named Ulja and Ondrej Warhola. He was a very smart child, but he suffered from a
nervous disorder. This caused him to often stay home which lead him to collect pictures and listen to
the radio about current events. All of this created his love for pop culture and modern celebrities.
When he was sixteen years old, he graduated from high school and went to Carnegie Institute of
Technology. When he graduated in 1949, he went to live in New York City and became a commercial
illustrator. Then Andy Warhol began working for popular magazines like Vogue, Glamour, and the

A Comparison Of Fences By August Wilson
The set and setting of a story has a significant impact on a story s plot. The setting establishes mood,
situation, and character (Mays 164). It tells you a lot about a character by revealing the character s
personality throughout the story. Setting also creates a strong emotion throughout the story, that the
audience can understand. In the film and play Fences by August Wilson we can see the impact of
setting in both versions of the story. The setting and characterization of the play and movie changes in
certain scenes, allowing the audience to make a comparison of the two. Overall, the film does a better
job depicting set and characterization.

The rain and thundering outside during this scene made it the more powerful; it helped the viewer
understand that something serious was happening, and allowed the viewer to empathize.
Even though Troy wasn t fair to his wife, he took care of his family as a man should. He took care of
his sons with all that he had, but the love for his family was not evident in his character, especially
with what he did to Rose. Cheating on Rose was a very selfish, and disrespectful act that showed no
love towards his family. Troy s behavior stems from the relationship he had with his father when he
was a teenager. Without him knowing, Troy was very similar to his father, which was depicted very
well in the film. Troy s father stayed right there with his family. But he was just as evil as he could be
(Wilson 905). Troy s description of his father was the same person he was. In his conversation with
Cory he says to him, like you? I go out of here every morning...bust my butt...putting up with them
crackers everyday... cause I like you? You about the biggest fool I ever saw. It s my job. It s my
responsibility! You understand that? A man got to take care of his family (898). This scene in the
movie showed more passion. A reader can read this scene in the play with whichever tone they choose,

Analysis Of Forrest Gump
The film Forrest Gump uses a lot of information and historical events and expresses them using
aesthetic techniques such as sound, cinematography, editing, etc. The director Robert Zemeckis uses
form to explain the overall meaning of the film specifically with symbolism from popular phrases and
gives visual examples throughout the story.
The beginning of the film starts with Forrest sitting on a bench at a bus stop. A lady walks over and
sits down next to him and begins to read her book as he introduces himself to her. He then offers her
some chocolate that she quietly declines. Forrest then says, My mama always said that life was like a
box of chocolates. You never know what you re gonna get . This phrase shows meaning to the entire
film because Forrest is always led to a new thing or event in life that had no relation to the last.
Zemeckis place this scene strategically at the beginning and it helped set up the rest of the story.
Forrest is seen a few different times during other parts of the film with boxes of chocolate. This first
scene is also the beginning of where Forrest starts to tell his life story. The director uses a diegetic
narraration by Forrest to lead the story. He continues to talk even if the person sitting next to him on
the bench has changed.
The box of chocolates line resembles how Forrest sees life differently. He grew up being told by his
mother on what he should and shouldn t do to help him get through life. He had the mind set of doing
any opportunity that came to him. He did all kinds of incredible things such as playing on a college
football team, joining the military, starting a shrimp business, etc. Editing can be shown during the
historical events that Forrest participates in such as when African Americans were accepted to his
school. The effect was in black and white to show an older scenario.
The best use of cinematography was at the very beginning with the feather before the box of
chocolates line. The camera follows the feather as it floats down towards the ground. The camera
angle is positioned with a close up on the feather and with a blurry Forrest on the bench in the
background. The feather then lands on his shoe where he picks it up to place inside his Curious

Essay about Analysis of We Real Cool by Gwendolyn Brooks
Poetry Essay
We Real Cool , Gwendolyn Brooks
The poem We Real Cool is a very powerful poem, although expressed with very few words. To me,
this poem describes the bottom line of the well known ghetto life . It describes the desperate and what
they need, other than the usual what they want, money. Without actually telling us all about the seven
young men, it does tell us about them. The poem tells of the men s fears, their ambitions, and who
they think they are, versus who they really are. The poem begins with the word We , which is the only
line in the poem that begins in this such manor, although the word we is repeated six more times
throughout the poem. The we that I believe is represented at the beginning is the ... Show more

They feel as if they are all, real cool . However, as the poem continues, the repeated We is seen not at
the beginning, but at the end of each line. This simultaneously displays a certain aspect that was not
seen in the first line. It shows certain confusions and distinct uncertainties about the group s identity,
or even as an example of protesting too much, whether there s a group identity at all. Who is We that
they are so insistent about? Repeated as it is, the We gets smaller and smaller. She is saying that in life
it may seem like we , but it all comes to a point where the we gradually starts representing one
individual, rather than a whole group. The poet has in fact said that the we is supposed to be read in a
small and uncertain way, thus the reason for the unpunctuated we at the end of each line after the
initial We in the beginning of the poem. That word kind of becomes a question, as well as a refrain.
The unity that was seen in the beginning becomes less and less apparent as the poem continues.
Brooks continues the poem saying, We / Left school . Making the hopelessness of this scenario even
more obvious. Brooks not only arranges the wording in this poem to show a desperate need, but she
speaks of one as well. The fact that these seven young men have no education shows exactly how
unpromising their futures are or are going to be if they continue down a path trying to impress each

It is true that overwhelming anxiety can hamper coping, and that screening out anxiety provoking
stimuli can help prevent this kind of paralysis. In general, it must be observed, the world is full of
terrifying possibilities that we could never completely comprehend (1998). Denial is the refusal to
believe or accept the reality that certain events have happened, are happening, or will happen. To
accept the reality would bring emotional pain, so the events are denied. Related to denial is the
defense called minimizing. Events are accepted, but only in a watered down version. Sure I drink once

Denial is the primary psychological symptom of addiction. It is an automatic and unconscious
component of addictions. Addicts are often the last to recognize their disease, pursuing their

Causes Of Water Pollution In The Huangpu River
Pollution of Water in the Huangpu River Introduction The Huangpu River is located in Shanghai,
China. Goes through Shanghai from South West to North East. It is the water supply to the 13 million
people in the city. It also serves importance for tourism, fishery, navigation, and, most importantly,
receiving wastewater. In the mid 1980s, a control plan for the pollution in the Huangpu River was
made. But exactly how polluted is the Huangpu River? Causes of Pollution (5) (Pollution of the
Huangpu River by percentage (5)) There are four attributes to the pollution of the Huangpu River.
First, wastewater discharged to the Huangpu River contains large amount of organic substances, which
create a significant demand for dissolved oxygen in the water. Second, about 81 per cent of the total
waterways in the city are polluted. Third, the most serious pollution occurs in the urban section,
particularly at the water intake points for the Nanshi Water Treatment Plant and the Yangpu Water
Treatment Plant. Finally, the tidal nature of Huangpu River restricts the release of organic pollutants to
downstream stretches. Wrote the study case that was prepared by Chonghua Zhang and published on

Analysis Of Lord Of The Flies
Intro: Give title and author. Background.
In Lord of the Flies by John Steinback a group of young boys are stranded on an island. To survive the
boys decided to vote who should be their leader, Ralph or Jack. Piggy is a smart, fat boy who is not
respected by the boys. Ralph is the face of leadership but not the best for the job compared to Piggy.
Piggy is the brains behind Ralph who gives the essential idea to further progress the island.
Ralph is the face of leadership and according to everyone but Piggy the best for the job. In this
passage the boys are taking a vote on who should be the leader for the island. Vote for chief! Let s vote
This toy of voting was almost as pleasing as the conch. Jack started to protest but the clamor changed
from the general wish for a chief to an election by acclaim of Ralph himself. None of the boys could
have found good reason for this; what intelligence had been shown was traceable to Piggy while the
most obvious leader was Jack. But there was a stillness about Ralph as he sat that marked him out:
there was his size, and attractive appearance; and most obscurely, yet most powerfully, there was the
conch. The being that had blown that, had sat waiting for them on the platform with the delicate thing
balanced on his knees, was set apart. Him with the shell. Ralph! Ralph! Let him be chief with the
trumpet thing. Ralph raised a hand for silence. All right. Who wants Jack for chief? With dreary

In Consumption and Social Changes in a Post Soviet Middle Class, Jennifer Patico explores the
impact of market consumerism on the social position of public school teachers in post Soviet Russia.
Living in St. Petersburg during the financial crisis of 1989 1990, Patico describes how her informants
struggled to reconcile their perceived moral value as educators with their declining material wealth.
Patico defines this logic of value as how people in a marketizing society interpret and construct the
interrelationships between materiality and morality; between wealth and social standing; and between
resources and respect (Patico, 8). From this definition, Patico investigates how teachers in St.
Petersburg constructed their own conception of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Patico cites Anthony Jones who describes the social position of teachers in the 1980s: Although
teachers have fairly low status within the intelligentsia, their membership still conveys high status in
the general occupational structure (Patico, 63). In the Soviet system, occupation determined both
social class and access to resources; however, the sudden introduction of capitalism and market
consumerism shifted this standard: A previous logic of value one that associated professional
achievement with material privileges was being challenged (Patico, 52). Experiencing downward
financial and social status, teachers constructed a new logic of value with an emphasis on morality and
culture. Patico suggests that important characteristics of this emerging logic of value manifested
themselves in consumer choices. She describes her informants: They did not see themselves as naive
victims of marketization...They wished to master all this knowledge and tended to find it important to
be well informed consumers and to maintain dignified, cultured lifestyles (Patico, 61). Given rapid
economic changes which threatened to dilute their social position, teachers grasped onto their status as
knowledgeable and cultured intelligentsia. In her article Tracing Landscapes of the Past in Class
Subjectivity Michele Rivkin Fish describes this process: Groups who aspired to distinction and
recognition could still deploy symbolic markers of prestige. (Rivkin Fish, 89). Defining morals and
culture as such symbolic markers of prestige, a new middle class

Prospect Theory

accounting for money management. 1. Prospect theory. The theory can be represented by a value
function, as shown below. The value function starts from a reference point, and is normally concave
for gains, and convex for losses. It is also steeper for losses than for gains. The theory intends to
explain why people behave irrationally when making choices. 2. Framing effect. It refers to the

Secondly, according to mental accounting, we assign value and goal for money in each account. We
also set aside some expected gain before we make any investment. As long as we meet our target, then
we can relocate the money for some other accounts. By investing money long term, we forgo the
opportunity to enjoy the gain in short term. (2) Gift card I just realized the gift card is another
combination of framing and sunk cost effect. Even though I received the gift card, I didn t pay for it,
whoever gave I to me did spend money in that store. There are two scenarios on how to spend the gift
card money. On one hand, I view it as free money and spend it on luxury items, which I would not

By now, it has been operated for eight years and prohibits the discrimination on the basis of age.
Recent research vindicates this prediction, demonstrating that women at all levels of management still
report gender discrimination as a barrier to their advancement in Australia (Metz amp; Moss 2008).
The gender pay gap is also reflected in the low numbers of women in leadership positions (Goward
2004). Therefore, the state enacted Sex Discrimination Act 1984 to assist the government for this
issue. Under the Sex Discrimination Act it is unlawful to discriminate on the basis of gender, marital
status, pregnancy and family responsibility (Loudoun, Mcphail amp; Wilkinson 2009).
Racial discrimination includes race, colour, belief and national or ethnic origin. Australia is a
multicultural country; a large number of people are from different countries. They have different
cultural background like language, race, colour, belief and so on. Therefore, the racial discrimination
has become one of the most serious discriminations in Australia. For prohibiting it, Australia

lives of the people in Boston, Massachusetts from the point of the beginning of Pearl s life, to the
death of Hester. Though the books tells of the many scenes of Hester s life, I believe that through it all,
Hester Prynne is a heroine and has many traits of being so in this book. I believe that she is a heroine
because she was brave, she was faithful to who she really loved, and she was calm through it all.
Hester Prynne was a heroine because

The Task Of The Translator By Walter Benjamin
Walter Benjamin s essay, The Task of the Translator, is illuminating in the way in which it shatters any
preconceived ideas that may view the act of translation as diminishing the value of the original.
Benjamin has high regard for translation, placing it in the realm of art as a distinct form. He argues
that art is not about the audience or the receiver that is, it is not primarily about communication. The
purpose of art is not to instil a specific belief, impart information or to entertain certain sentiments in
the reader thus, appreciation does not reside in generating a moral by interpreting its content. As an art
form, translation for Benjamin is not about propagating ideas or beliefs but is about embarking on the
task of attaining pure ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Likewise, translation cannot be considered to interact with the reader, seeking to communicate the
meaning of the original text as the content is not essential in our appreciation of the text. His question
assumes the original and the translation as distinct categories, both of which, for him, are works of art.
Apart from carrying messages and prolonging the value of texts, what is unique to translation is its
potential to express the central reciprocal relationship between languages (72), its kinship to another
language and its potential to bring out the pure language where the mutually exclusive elements
among languages can mingle and supplement one another (74) and where complementary intentions
between two languages can be communicated. Therefore, the translator should not be restrained by the
burden of relaying what the original means. Benjamin claims that languages are not strangers to one
another, but are, a priori and apart from all historical relationships, interrelated in what they want to
express (72). The affinity between languages can best be brought out by an accurate transmission of
the form and meaning of the original

Project Management Processes On A Development Project Essay
PROJECT MANAGEMENT PROCESSES
Project management is a process of leading a team of capable people in planning and implementing a
series of related activities that need to be accomplished on a specific date with a limited budget.
Because of its nature, coordinating all these activities requires a process approach. For many times
development project take on unexplored territory, assumptions about the project must be listed,
evaluated, its risks assessed and contingency plans developed. It also requires a close monitoring of
the budget, scope and schedule to deliver the project objectives under the expected quality. Each one
of these elements needs to be managed in a systematic manner with the development of plans to
identify the roles and resources needed.
There are mainly two groups of management processes on a development project; enabling and
facilitating processes. These are designed to help manage the different elements of a project, different
projects may have different needs from each process; for example, a project that has identified that
quality is a critical success factor will spend more time and effort in developing a quality management
plan. Therefore, these management processes occur during the entire project life cycle and each one of
them requires a cyclical approach that consists of planning, doing, checking and learning to ensure
process quality.
Enabling processes include scope, schedule, budget and quality. They are enabling because they lead

Data Gathering Essay
Research is a vital tool for education. It is research that gives us the ability to accurately observe broad
pools of student, respond to data, and thus become better educators. Without research, we wouldn t be
able to have great standard curriculums. But as I learned in this section, research is complicated,
detailed, and often labor intensive.
There are many ways to gather information. Each of the many data gathering techniques has their own
pros and cons. Understanding the many different types of data gathering is important, as it keeps us
flexible and ready to enact effectively upon any situation. These types of data gathering techniques
include interviews, questionnaires, and surveys.
Although interviews are not always economic and possible to conduct on broad numbers of students,
they are probably my favorite type of data gathering technique because they are personal and therefore
much more likely to be accurate. The process of interviewing involves an interviewer sitting down
with an interviewee to ask questions. The questions and responses can be more complicated than those
of other techniques such as tests or questionnaires. This is due to the ability of the interviewee to
answer in more complicated terms due to the barrier of transmission being so low. It only takes talking
for the interviewee to communicate the info. This is opposed to the writing of the questionnaire or the
way a student is restricted to only a few number of responses on a test. Also, an

ADHD Affecting Adolescents
ADHD does not resolve after puberty, 65% persists into adolescent (Wolrich al et ). Sometimes
diagnosing is difficult because academic problems that were less noticeable in elementary school
become to be more problematic in middle and high school. The demand in mental alertness is higher
and becomes very stressful for the adolescent. Adolescents with ADHD are emotionally immature,
become frustrated easily, have sudden outburst. These symptoms are sometimes over looked as
behavioral problems and are not looked at as ADHD (Wolrich al et ). Educating school staff and
keeping Doctors up to date with recent findings is very importin. I was recently diagnosed as an adult
with ADHD. Although throughout my childhood all the symptoms presented themselves,

Analysis Of A Bowling Essay
Bowling There are a lot of steps for bowling. The very first step is to find your weight of the bowling
ball and your shoe size. When you start bowling every person is different on where they need to stand
at and how far back or how far forward. By the time you bowl for a while you will find out on where
you need to stand. I stand on the left by the second dot and throw my ball on the second arrow on the
right. People that bowl with straight balls stand in the middle and just throw it down the lane. When I
first started bowling I just threw a ball down the lane. But now I throw a curveball that comes back
inside. So what that all means I can stand on the left and throw it on the right side of the lane and if the
timing is all right it will come back and it will come right into the pocket. I m sure all of you guys are
wondering what the pocket means and what it means is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A straight ball is where the ball stays in one spot of doesn t move at all unless the lanes are really dry
then it will hook. A curve ball moves no matter what and if the lanes are dry the curve ball will hook
extremely. So that is the difference between the two different types of bowling balls. The object of
bowling is to knock down as many pins as possible. For High School bowling you bowl two
individuals games and the five bakers. The most common baker style is to be the 5 person format
where bowler 1 bowls frames 1 and 6, bowler 2 bowls frames 2 and 7, bowler 3 bowls frames 3 and 8,
bowler 4 bowls frames 4 and 9 and bowler 5 bowls frames 5 and 10. The order is set at the beginning
of the match but can be changed after the completion of each game. So these are the pretty basic steps
I do when I bowl. And you guys may think bowling is a hard sport to be good at but it just takes time.
It took me like three years to get pretty good at it. It s a pretty competitive sport if you bowl the right

Another difference is majority of abuser are men and the abused will be a women. Screening any type
of jealousy, control, and manipulations will set the abuser apart from the abused. An individual who is
abused will have characteristics of insecurities, low self esteem, trust issues, and withdrawn
symptoms. This can happen from the effects of mental or physical abuse.
Screening a child for abuse or neglect can be difficult at times because the child is not fully
development to understand what is wrong and right especially when the abuser is a family member the
child trust. Screening a child can takes months sometimes to fully understand the characteristics that
are shown. Examples of the patterns are; not able to show affection, having continuous nightmares,
fear of touch, regression to common childlike behavior, and fear of individuals and environments. The
characteristics of an abuse child or neglected are; withdrawn symptoms, violent, depressed, and
fearful. These characteristics have to be evaluating carefully to ensure there is not a disability that the
child is suffering or the child just wants to be defiant. When child maltreatment is suspected, going
through such a list will narrow down suspicions. Remember, there are many reasons for each behavior
and characteristic that is found in a checklist. Even when a child exhibits several of the identified

  • 2. Controversial Immigration Issues A controversial Issue I like to get your attention on is about Immigration. Immigration is an issue that has been on all media outlets, but now is more current and pressing issue because of our current president speech, and views on Immigration. The data I plan on using for this paper are news, social networks, and online articles. Like any other issue their people with conflicting views when it comes to this topic. In this paper, I would like to address both for and opposing views on this topic. Also, how ethics plays a role in social media when discussing Immigration. Many people do not acknowledge that the Korean War has not ended, but the event settled with just an armistice since the tension of the war became so intense between not only two Koreans, but other major countries such as Russia, China, and the United States. Even an armistice of the war, there still remains severe tensions in the Korean Peninsula and because of this, questions like why Korea has been the only divided country in the world and what has increased the tension between two Koreans have been brought up to historians. • 4. Physical Violence And Domestic Violence Physical Violence Physical abuse is defined as deliberately act which causes injuries and intentionally hurting someone with the weapons. Physical violence is common among intimate partners. Most of the male partners often hit their female partners when they are angry or when their partners start arguing with them. Sometimes husband even breaks the bone of his wife over small things like if she is not ready on time or when the food is not cooked properly. Physical violence can cause various health problems in women like chronic joint or muscle pain, loss of hair, stab wounds, cuts, bites, sprains, chipped or lost teeth, internal injuries, chronic headache, high blood pressure, burns, chronic stomach pain and detached retina etc.. For example In Mumbai s Bhabha Hospital, people who are wounded among them, the number of women is large and most of the women who come there have been victims of domestic violence. In the consultancy department , almost 40% are women affected by domestic violence , there are the cases of poisoning, fracture, wounds, battered women, pregnant women, who say they fell but usually these are domestic violence cases. When the attacker was none other than her life partner, then how can she feel safe at home. • 5. Significance Of The European Union The European Union has grown from its humble beginnings of the European Coal and Steel Community (ECSC) into a complex system of governance within Europe and it has become a key figure internationally. The issue is whether the European Union (EU) has in this time grown into a supranational form of governance with the establishment of treaties, or have the nation states stayed in control. I am going to argue that the EU s supranational qualities are the allocation of shared common interests among the nation states that compose it. It has been shown by history that the power ultimately lies in the member state as evidenced by the need for unanimity in passing the treaties that mandate the EU and earlier conceptions of it have resulted in the ... The EU and the supporters of the treaty failed to properly explain the Constitutional Treaty, causing it to be denied in France and the Netherlands. The rejection of the treaty in certain states was caused by globalization, which was leading to unemployment causing them to be alienated and frustrated, however, some of their complaints were already apart of the European Union, so it shows the nation state has the power to accept an idea, and then decline it at a later date as seen also by Brexit. The Lisbon Treaty stated that the power of the European Union is given by the member states in the form of treaties, which allows the member states to have several rights one of them being secession. The United Kingdom was one of the original countries accepted in the enlargement of the ECSC it accepted upon joining that it would be apart of the treaties that allowed the free movement of goods, services, capital and workers within the EU, which was also accredited for the single market and the Euro as the result of spillover. The North American Industry Classification System Essay The North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) is the standard used by Federal statistical agencies in classifying business establishments for the purpose of collecting, analyzing, and publishing statistical data related to the U.S. business economy. (North American Industry Classification System, n.d.). NAICS is a 2 through 6 digit hierarchical classification system, offering five levels of detail. Each digit in the code is part of a series of progressively narrower categories, and the more digits in the code signify greater classification detail. The first two digits name the economic sector, the third digit designates the subsector, the fourth digit designates the industry group, the fifth digit designates the NAICS industry, and the sixth digit designates the national industry. The 5 digit NAICS code is the level at which there is comparability in code and definitions for most of the NAICS sectors across the three countries participating in NAICS (the United States, Canada, and Mexico). The 6 digit level allows for the United States, Canada, and Mexico each to have country specific detail. Derasis Human Body The skin is the largest outermost organ of the human body, contributing to 8% of the body s total weight, with a surface area measuring around 1.8 square metres in adulthood (Feingold, 2007). As a result of this, humans tend to be very conscious of, and very sensitive to, the way in which their skin looks. Despite this, many of us often under appreciate the significance of human skin; we carry out our daily routines without any realisation or consideration of just how important skin is in protecting us from the external environment, informing us of our surroundings and making us aware of any potential dangers (Nickoloff Naidu, 1994). The skin has a multifaceted structure consisting of many different components (Montagna, 1974). The skin ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It is composed of highly vascular connective tissue (Stocum, 2006). The dermis contains a rich supply of blood; these blood vessels dilate and contract in response to internal and external stimuli such as anxiety and temperature (Bowers, Thompson, Miller, 1992). The dermis is therefore responsible for regulating body temperature and blood pressure (Kemble Lamb, 1984). The blood from the dermis is responsible for the nourishment of newly generated cells in the inner layer of the epidermis (MacDonald, 2009). The function of the dermal connective tissue is to provide structural support for the outer layer of the skin (Martini, Ober, Bartholomew, 1999). Sensory nerve fibres can also be found in the dermis, which respond to touch, pain and temperature (Bryant Nix, 2012). This serves an important role in human well being, allowing us to respond to dangers such as being burnt by a hot object. The organisation of connective tissue permits the dermis to be flexible and contract with the movement of the body (Starcher, 2005). This flexibility provides the body with a barrier to protect it from friction and impact wounds (Hess, 2013). The thickness of the dermis varies across different areas of the ... Scott Momaday: The Cultural and Literary Background, Momaday initially could not believe that he had won a prize for a work that began as a poem (93). Schubnell cites one juror who explains his reasoning for selecting House Made of Dawn as being the work s eloquence and intensity of feeling, its freshness of vision and subject, [and] its immediacy of theme (93). In 1946, his family moved to Jemez Pueblo, New Mexico, the place that would later become the setting for House Made of Dawn. Here, Momaday saw swift changes roll through the tribal village, such as: an exploding population, the infiltration of technology and the culture of Anglo America, as well as alcoholism and crime. Momaday also witnessed the return of World War IIs soldiers, and the confusion and despair that accompanied them (Schubnell, 19). This period of Jemez s history would return years later in Momaday s novel, for Abel, the protagonist, is a veteran of WWII, and he, like the soldiers of Momaday s memories, is confused and desperate. Abel also turns to alcohol for relief. Momaday s experiences would also imprint upon his mind that only a sense of self which embraced both Indian and non Anglican realities could lead to a worthwhile future (Schubnell, 20). Owens suggest that it is this search for self, and a sense of identity, that lead him to write. Momaday, himself describes identity in terms of imagination: We are what we imagine. Our very existence consists in our imagination of ourselves. Our best destiny is to imagine, at least, completely, who and what, and that we are. The greatest tragedy that can befall us is to go unimagined (Owens, 93). In an interview with Schubnell, Momaday says: I believe that I fashion my own life out of words and ... • 11. The Effect Of Ph On Enzyme Activity The Effect of pH on Enzyme Activity Beginning Question: How does pH affect the rate of enzymatic reactions? Hypothesis: If the pH is around seven, then the rate of the reaction for the enzyme peroxidase will be the highest. This is because the optimal pH range for the enzyme peroxidase is around seven and at its optimal pH an enzyme functions the best. Variables: Independent ─ pH Dependent ─ rate of enzymatic reaction (measured by absorbance) Controlled ─ amount of enzyme used, amount of hydrogen peroxide used, amount of guaiacol added Control group ─ the reaction at the pH of seven Safety Considerations: 1. Wear safety goggles to protect the eyes from any splashes and wearing gloves is recommended when handling acids and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Then, measure the absorbance at the time that was decided as the optimal in step four. Claim: The rate of the peroxidase reaction is the highest when the pH is neutral rather than being acidic or basic. This claim is in the accordance with the original hypothesis which stated that a pH of seven will increase the rate of the reaction. Evidence and Reasoning: Based on the data, the absorbance when the pH was seven was the highest. It was the lowest in an acidic environment at a pH of three, but slightly higher than the acidic in the basic environment at a pH of eleven. The rate of the reaction could be measured through the absorbance. When hydrogen peroxide breaks down, it produces oxygen gas which can react with the guaiacol to form tetraguaiacol. The solution turns brown and the darker it is, the more oxygen is produced and the greater the absorbance. At the pH of seven, the solution was the darkest, meaning the reaction proceeded quickly and the rate was higher. The reason that peroxidase functioned the best at around the pH of seven is because that is the optimal pH in cells for the enzyme. Enzymes work best at their optimal conditions. They are sensitive to their environment and tiny changes such as changes in pH can cause them to stop functioning. The shape of the enzyme or the active site can be changed so it will not attach to the substrate and become inactive. One ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Where Is The Narrator In The Cask Of Amontillado The narration is shifted from first to second person and back to first person in the beginnings of different novels in alternate chapters, and sometimes to third person. The author forces us, the readers, to take on the role of the Reader that makes me the main character of the story. The story unfolds more truths about myself and how I behave when I m about to read a novel, which literally messes with my brains by letting me believe that I m probably being watched as I read on. Calvino successfully kept me confused and curious throughout with his clever narration. I thought about why he chose to narrate in the way he does, and would he ever introduce himself. In chapter Without fear of wind or vertigo, on page 84 the narrator introduces himself as Alex Zinnober; and in the chapter Looks down in the gathering shadow, on page 107 he introduces his name as Ruedi the Swiss. Shewhart mentored the latter two. Most of which, they adopted and reformed much of Shewhart s work to expand and evolve their own studies. Shewhart s main focus was finding economic ways to reduce costs by identifying problems sooner in the process variation and by reducing the cost of inspection. Shewhart also created the process of Plan do check act. Deming adapted this philosophy into his own work. Deming s philosophy seen quality as the main force for businesses and society to succeed and reported this philosophy as a chain reaction. Disadvantages Of Engineering Materials Introduction Engineering materials is classified into families based on their material structure, compositions, properties etc, as shown in the figure: Metals Ferrous metals: These are the metals and the alloys that are composed of high amounts of the iron content. These are the strongest materials that are available and can be used in the applications where strength of the material is compulsorily high and at a low cost and also where the weight is not a primary importance. Ferrous metals are used in various applications such as: building of bridges, structures of huge buildings, rolling stock, the bodies and highly stressed engine parts of vehicles running on the road, railway lines and locomotives. The ferrous metals alone can also be divided into Groups , and these are as follows. Non ferrous metals: These materials refer to the remaining metals known in the world. As they lack of mechanical strength these clean metals can hardly be used as structural materials. Pop art is created to display emotions instead of to show the actual piece of art. This mass cultural art movement emerged in Britain, the United States, Spain, Japan, Italy, Belgium, Netherlands, and Russia. This movement allowed artists to break the old traditions of abstract expressionism and create new and different ideals of art with no limit. Pop art was often used in advertising for magazines and newspapers. Two of Pop art s major artists were Andy Warhol and Roy Lichtenstein who created art in similar but also different ways. In the film and play Fences by August Wilson we can see the impact of setting in both versions of the story. The setting and characterization of the play and movie changes in certain scenes, allowing the audience to make a comparison of the two. • 24. Analysis Of Forrest Gump The film Forrest Gump uses a lot of information and historical events and expresses them using aesthetic techniques such as sound, cinematography, editing, etc. The director Robert Zemeckis uses form to explain the overall meaning of the film specifically with symbolism from popular phrases and gives visual examples throughout the story. The beginning of the film starts with Forrest sitting on a bench at a bus stop. A lady walks over and sits down next to him and begins to read her book as he introduces himself to her. He then offers her some chocolate that she quietly declines. Forrest then says, My mama always said that life was like a box of chocolates. You never know what you re gonna get . This phrase shows meaning to the entire film because Forrest is always led to a new thing or event in life that had no relation to the last. Zemeckis place this scene strategically at the beginning and it helped set up the rest of the story. Forrest is seen a few different times during other parts of the film with boxes of chocolate. This first scene is also the beginning of where Forrest starts to tell his life story. The director uses a diegetic narraration by Forrest to lead the story. He continues to talk even if the person sitting next to him on the bench has changed. The box of chocolates line resembles how Forrest sees life differently. He grew up being told by his mother on what he should and shouldn t do to help him get through life. He had the mind set of doing any opportunity that came to him. He did all kinds of incredible things such as playing on a college football team, joining the military, starting a shrimp business, etc. Editing can be shown during the historical events that Forrest participates in such as when African Americans were accepted to his school. The effect was in black and white to show an older scenario. The best use of cinematography was at the very beginning with the feather before the box of chocolates line. The camera follows the feather as it floats down towards the ground. The camera angle is positioned with a close up on the feather and with a blurry Forrest on the bench in the background. The feather then lands on his shoe where he picks it up to place inside his Curious ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

To me, this poem describes the bottom line of the well known ghetto life . It describes the desperate and what they need, other than the usual what they want, money. Without actually telling us all about the seven young men, it does tell us about them. The poem tells of the men s fears, their ambitions, and who they think they are, versus who they really are. However, as the poem continues, the repeated We is seen not at the beginning, but at the end of each line. This simultaneously displays a certain aspect that was not seen in the first line. It shows certain confusions and distinct uncertainties about the group s identity, or even as an example of protesting too much, whether there s a group identity at all. Who is We that they are so insistent about? Repeated as it is, the We gets smaller and smaller. She is saying that in life it may seem like we , but it all comes to a point where the we gradually starts representing one individual, rather than a whole group. The poet has in fact said that the we is supposed to be read in a small and uncertain way, thus the reason for the unpunctuated we at the end of each line after the initial We in the beginning of the poem. That word kind of becomes a question, as well as a refrain. The unity that was seen in the beginning becomes less and less apparent as the poem continues. Brooks continues the poem saying, We / Left school . Making the hopelessness of this scenario even more obvious. Brooks not only arranges the wording in this poem to show a desperate need, but she speaks of one as well. The fact that these seven young men have no education shows exactly how unpromising their futures are or are going to be if they continue down a path trying to impress each other ... • 39. How Is Hester Prynne A Heroine The Scarlet Letter is a classic novel written by Nathaniel Hawthorne. It is set in puritan times around the 16th century. The story tells of a women of the name Hester Prynne who commits adultery with a man who is kept a mystery until the end of the book, and bears a daughter named Pearl. It follows the lives of the people in Boston, Massachusetts from the point of the beginning of Pearl s life, to the death of Hester. Though the books tells of the many scenes of Hester s life, I believe that through it all, Hester Prynne is a heroine and has many traits of being so in this book. I believe that she is a heroine because she was brave, she was faithful to who she really loved, and she was calm through it all. Hester Prynne was a heroine because ... • 40. The Task Of The Translator By Walter Benjamin Walter Benjamin s essay, The Task of the Translator, is illuminating in the way in which it shatters any preconceived ideas that may view the act of translation as diminishing the value of the original. Benjamin has high regard for translation, placing it in the realm of art as a distinct form. He argues that art is not about the audience or the receiver that is, it is not primarily about communication. The purpose of art is not to instil a specific belief, impart information or to entertain certain sentiments in the reader thus, appreciation does not reside in generating a moral by interpreting its content. As an art form, translation for Benjamin is not about propagating ideas or beliefs but is about embarking on the task of attaining pure ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Likewise, translation cannot be considered to interact with the reader, seeking to communicate the meaning of the original text as the content is not essential in our appreciation of the text. His question assumes the original and the translation as distinct categories, both of which, for him, are works of art. Apart from carrying messages and prolonging the value of texts, what is unique to translation is its potential to express the central reciprocal relationship between languages (72), its kinship to another language and its potential to bring out the pure language where the mutually exclusive elements among languages can mingle and supplement one another (74) and where complementary intentions between two languages can be communicated. Therefore, the translator should not be restrained by the burden of relaying what the original means. Benjamin claims that languages are not strangers to one another, but are, a priori and apart from all historical relationships, interrelated in what they want to express (72). The affinity between languages can best be brought out by an accurate transmission of the form and meaning of the original ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 41. Project Management Processes On A Development Project Essay PROJECT MANAGEMENT PROCESSES Project management is a process of leading a team of capable people in planning and implementing a series of related activities that need to be accomplished on a specific date with a limited budget. Because of its nature, coordinating all these activities requires a process approach. For many times development project take on unexplored territory, assumptions about the project must be listed, evaluated, its risks assessed and contingency plans developed. It also requires a close monitoring of the budget, scope and schedule to deliver the project objectives under the expected quality. Each one of these elements needs to be managed in a systematic manner with the development of plans to identify the roles and resources needed. There are mainly two groups of management processes on a development project; enabling and facilitating processes. These are designed to help manage the different elements of a project, different projects may have different needs from each process; for example, a project that has identified that quality is a critical success factor will spend more time and effort in developing a quality management plan. Therefore, these management processes occur during the entire project life cycle and each one of them requires a cyclical approach that consists of planning, doing, checking and learning to ensure process quality. Enabling processes include scope, schedule, budget and quality. They are enabling because they lead to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 42. Data Gathering Essay Research is a vital tool for education. It is research that gives us the ability to accurately observe broad pools of student, respond to data, and thus become better educators. Without research, we wouldn t be able to have great standard curriculums. But as I learned in this section, research is complicated, detailed, and often labor intensive. There are many ways to gather information. Each of the many data gathering techniques has their own pros and cons. Understanding the many different types of data gathering is important, as it keeps us flexible and ready to enact effectively upon any situation. These types of data gathering techniques include interviews, questionnaires, and surveys. Although interviews are not always economic and possible to conduct on broad numbers of students, they are probably my favorite type of data gathering technique because they are personal and therefore much more likely to be accurate. The process of interviewing involves an interviewer sitting down with an interviewee to ask questions. The questions and responses can be more complicated than those of other techniques such as tests or questionnaires. This is due to the ability of the interviewee to answer in more complicated terms due to the barrier of transmission being so low. It only takes talking for the interviewee to communicate the info. This is opposed to the writing of the questionnaire or the way a student is restricted to only a few number of responses on a test. Also, an ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

When you start bowling every person is different on where they need to stand at and how far back or how far forward. By the time you bowl for a while you will find out on where you need to stand. I stand on the left by the second dot and throw my ball on the second arrow on the right. People that bowl with straight balls stand in the middle and just throw it down the lane. When I first started bowling I just threw a ball down the lane. But now I throw a curveball that comes back inside. The object of bowling is to knock down as many pins as possible. For High School bowling you bowl two individuals games and the five bakers.
