An Example of a Narrative Essay
1Crystal D. Dozier Narrative Essay November 13, 2007 Word count: 809 My Little Blessings
Children have a tendency to bring out the very best in people. I can say I have been fortunate to have
four little blessings of my own. I consider each of them as a blessing and each day I am reminded of
how much they mean to me. My children have brought out the best in me parts that I never knew
existed. As children grow, so do parents. I have evolved into a better person with the courage to
overcome all obstacles because of the love that I have for my children. At the age of twenty, my life
was full of constant turmoil and instability. I had a plan, and children were not a part of it. I never
imagined that I would ever have children. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Through the love for my son, I developed the ability to remain positive even during the most difficult
times in life. Although I gained the knowledge to be a more stable and positive individual, something
was still missing in my life. The missing piece soon fell into place upon the birth of my twin boys,
Irijah and Isaac. A multiple birth was a miracle within itself. It seemed unreal because no one in my
family was ever blessed with two babies. Although it took a lot of adjustment, we made it through the
baby period. The hard part did not come until they became toddlers. (During this time), I noticed
complications (in the development) (of the twins). I soon learned that although they were perfect on
the outside my boys were suffering with autism. Irijah is severely autistic while Isaac s is mild. I knew
that in order to conquer this obstacle, changes would have to be made. In the beginning I was unaware
of what needed to be done, but I never gave up. I continue to fight for my boys and struggle to keep
my sanity. This has been the toughest fight of my life because it involves a series of changes. These
changes dealt with acceptance, transition, and adaptation. These were necessary steps because it gives
the boys a chance to lead a somewhat normal life. Through the love of my sons, I have learned to
adapt to change and have gained strength and perseverance that is necessary in life.

Poverty and Children Education In this time and age the United States contains a high number of
students in the public schools who are under the poverty line. Poverty is defined as the state of being
really poor financially. Poverty in the United States has become a complicated problem that causes a
variety of diverse challenges for children and their families. Although the economy of the United
States is showing great signs of improvement, poverty remains a serious issue. While examining
poverty and children education in several articles all authors seem to agree with the fact that poverty

Research Paper On Climate Change
Climate Change We are living on this planet as if we have another one to go to. (Unknown) This quote
by an unknown source depicts the common mindset of the modern human. At the start of the 20th
century America had had numerous major advancements in technology and business. These
advancements helped to put America ahead, but at a cost. Emissions of Carbon Dioxide, other
greenhouse gases and aerosols have been steadily increasing since this time period and show no signs
of stopping soon (How Do We Know..). What is the reason for this? Could it be that people do not
know what they are doing? Maybe people just do not care? Many persons in America will deny the
changing climate because they claim there are no facts or they do not believe in the facts that scientists
have come to find. The advancement of climate change through production of Carbon Dioxide,
greenhouse gases and overuse of aerosol products can be blamed on mankind s waste and disregard.
Carbon Dioxide, also referred to as Co2, is one of the adverse chemicals that has been contributing to
climate change for decades. The careless attitude and dangerous professions of humans are, almost
collectively, directly responsible for the ever rising Carbon Dioxide concentration in our air. By reason

Cultural Impact On Cross-Cultural Communication
Introduction
When a company starts to do business in a foreign country, there are often many business practices
that are different and difficult to understand. Cross cultural communication refers to communication
conducted by people from different ethnic, social or gendered backgrounds, that is, communication
between people who do not share the common linguistic or cultural values. Through identifying some
most important influential factors in cross cultural communication, the paper points out some steps
and sugestions which can be use to make a successful meeting between an Australian young business
women and a traditional Japanese manager and discusses how those factors can lead to cross cultural
communication failures. After that, it provides solutions for main types of cross cultural
communication breakdown and strategies for enhancing effective communication. Finally, the paper
ends with a restatement of the main points, which is also the conclusion part.
Influential factors on cross cultural communication
Socio cultural influence
An important factor which also influences cross cultural communication is the socio cultural effect.
From the meaning of culture mentioned above, it is not difficult to see that socio cultural influence is
crucial to a successful cross cultural communication. Gumperz (2002) once wrote that ...socio cultural
assumptions concerning role and status relationships as well as socialvalues associated with various

The Differences between Logical, Ethical and Dialectical...
The Differences Between Logical, Ethical, and Dialectical Reasoning
The ways human think are one of the most distinct differences amongst us all. No single person entire
thought process is the same as someone else because every one comprehends differently. The way we
think makes us who we are and the decisions we make are based off our thought process. We reason
logically, ethically, or dialectically to come to a final decision. Logical, ethical, and dialectical
reasoning all serve a different purpose to help us reason the world around us. Logical is a Greek word
logos which means reason. Logical reasoning is defined as the logic relating to the formal processes
used in thinking and reasoning . It is an ability to think ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Deductive reasoning is similar to inductive reasoning because it is some what based off assumption.
Abductive reasoning is also similar to deductive reasoning. The information given is used to come up
with the best, most logical answer. For example a jar can be filled with cookies one minute, the next
minute it can be empty. One can assume, the last one seen with a cookie is John so John ate all the
cookies. Although John was last seen with a cookie, it does not conclude that John ate all of the
cookies. The purpose of logical reasoning is to make a conclusion that is feasible and has some
supporting evidence to assume the outcome. Logical reasoning is also used in formal and informal
reasoning. Formal reasoning is similar to deductive reasoning, which is based on valid premises and
therefore valid conclusions... It provides no new information, but only rearranges known information
to a new conclusion . In other words, if the original statement is true then necessarily the conclusion
should be true as well. It does not provide any new information just a rearrangement of previous
information just like deductive reasoning. Informal reasoning possesses all the elements of formal
reasoning, like the deduction part, however it also includes probabilities and truths about premises and
conclusion . It is very similar to abductive reasoning because the truth may seem obvious based of the
likelihood of the

Smoking In Periodontal Disease
(C)Biological Effects of Smoking in Periodontal Disease:
Tobacco smoke contains carbon monoxide (CO) which will lower the oxygen(O₂) saturation of
haemoglobin in healthy gingiva. Oxygen tension within the pockets was substantially reduced in
smokers. This may favour the growth of anaerobic bacteria, even in the shallower pockets 21.The
local host response to bacteria, which initiates periodontitis, includes the recruitment of leukocytes
and the subsequent release of infiammatory mediators and cytokines such as interleukin (IL
1,6,8,10,12) and tumor necrosis factor (TNF alpha). Researchers have tried to study a possible
relationship between smoking, stress and cytokine production.15 Giannopoulou studied cytokines in
the pathogenesis of periodontal ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
If smoking is associated with increased risk for periodontal disease, a reduction or elimination of
tobacco use should reduce this risk and should be beneficial to the patient. There is good evidence that
the occurrence of periodontal disease is less in previous smokers than in those who continue to smoke.
Fullmer found that microbial profiles differed extensively between smokers and quitters at 6 and 12
months following smoking termination. The microbial community in smokers was similar to the
baseline, while quitters demonstrated radically more divergent profiles. Changes in bacterial levels
contributed to this shift. These findings reveal a vital role for smoking cessation in changing the
subgingival biofilm and suggest a mechanism for enhanced periodontal health linked with smoking
termination.10In a ten year radiographic follow up of alveolar bone loss, it was reported that
progression of bone loss was significantly retarded in those who had given up smoking during the
study, compared with those who sustained to smoke (Bolin et al., 2003)(X). Even though there may be
conflicts in the research, particularly concerning smoking s effect on the microflora, there is very
strong substantiation of more severe dose related periodontal destruction among smokers and a return
to a healthier status once periodontal remedy and smoking cessation

the four quadrants associated with operant conditioning where something is added to decrease an

Similarities and Differences in the Aeneid and the Odyssey.
Both the Odyssey and the Aeneid describe the journeys of the two Greek heroes Odysseus and Aeneas,
as they struggle towards their goal through the crises and deadly situations caused by the wrath of the
gods upon them. In the Odyssey, we see that Poseidon (god of the sea/earth shaker) has a grudge
against Odysseus while Athena, god of wisdom, aids him throughout his journey. Similarly in the
Aeneid, we see that goddess Juno dislikes Aeneas as he is destined to destroy the city of Carthage
loved by Juno during his mission to find a new land Rome, whereas Aeneas mother Venus aids him.
In these epics, many points of similarity and differences arise such as the characters of the heroes, how
their journeys are delayed by women obsessed with ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In some serious and important situations, Odysseus is more cunning and intellect than Aeneas.
Something common in the two epics about their journey is that both Odysseus and Aeneas are
distracted from what they are destined for; by the lust and arousal of women obsessed by love. In the
Odyssey, Odysseus is first encountered by Circe s love and then by the over obsession of Calypso.
Circe is an immortal goddess and enchantress who is extremely beautiful and sexy. In the Aeneid,
Aeneas after reaching Carthage meets Dido who is a mortal woman and queen of Carthage. She is
foreign, exotic, mysterious, sexually and politically potent. Talking about Odysseus, we see that
Odysseus is approached by Hermes who warns him against Circe. She offers Odysseus to have sex
with her and it happens. Odysseus now distracted, lives with her on her island for a year until his
comrades remind him of Ithaca. The longest delay in Odysseus journey is at the island of Calypso.
Calypso lives alone on an exotic and beautiful island. After Odysseus crash lands here, he is rescued
by her and held captive for seven years. Calypso loves Odysseus unconditionally and offers him
immortality. Calypso could never impress Odysseus like Circe did. But in the Aeneid, we see that
Aeneas loses sight of his mission of founding Rome in Italy. Dido makes Aeneas forget about what he
is destined for as they fall in love. Both Dido and Circe keep men away from their

The Effects Of Concussions On Nfl Players Essay
Preventing Concussions in NFL Players While the NFL is currently a very entertaining and popular
American past time, there is one issue that threatens the future of the game concussions. Concussions
affect 1.6 to 3.8 million athletes and children annually in the United States. Among athletes, football is
the most common sport involving risks of concussions for males, and soccer is the most common
sports with concussion risks for females. The NFL has admitted that brain trauma effects a third of all
NFL players (Knowles.) Concussions have been part of the game since the very beginning, but it s
only in the past 50 years or so that medical science and the public has become aware of the serious
long term effects of concussions. The NFL is spending money on researching the problem, because
they have been sued from hundreds of players that have suffered long term damage from concussions.
The NFL needs to dedicate more money and research into increasing helmet safety, implementing
rules and policies to protect players, and utilizing the best response treatment to prevent and protect
players from concussions. Primarily, a concussion is an injury to the brain, caused by a hit or fall.
Sometimes a person will have visible bruises, but sometimes there are no visible signs of a brain
injury. A person does not have to lose consciousness to have a concussion. Some people recover in a
few hours, while others will take weeks to recover. Symptoms include loss of

Analyzing Two Theories of Business Power
Two Theories of Business Power Introduction The Dominance and the Pluralist Theories led to the
development of socialism and liberalism respectively. The two theories had notable differences,
almost contrasting one another. For us to analyze and contrast the two theories, it is notable to
understand the fundamental perceptions of Dominance and the Pluralism. Connolly and Connolly
(2010) argue that we can define the dominance theory as the theory of Marxist, advanced by Karl
Max. This theory has been clearly outlined in the manifesto of the communist. The theory of
dominance argues that social divisions based on class result in ruling class community, who control all
the production means. Marxism notes that if the proletariat is abused, it favors the interests of the
bourgeoisie. This is commonly referred to as the elite theory drawn from Marxist because it suggests a
disproportionate control over a privileged minority. Nevertheless, in this case, the control appears to
be over the state mechanisms. Therefore, we can believe that the elites only have the ability to
influence but not to control the production means. Perhaps, this could be an underlying reason why
advocates of this theory are more contented with its continued application compared to other
colleagues of Marxist (Tang, 2008). Pluralism is fundamentally a theory favoring equal distribution of
power amongst people instead of one individual holding all the power. This theory supports having

Ethics In Nursing
Nursing is the protection, promotion, and optimization of health and abilities, prevention of illness and
injury, alleviation of suffering through the diagnosis and treatment of human response, and advocacy
in the care of individuals, families, communities, and populations. (ANA, 2010a, p. 1).
Exemplified within this definition is the inherent nature and breadth of nursing, a discipline grounded
in a set of values and guided by a code of ethics that reveres the sanctity of human life. Both an art and
science, it embodies an evidence based practice requiring a specialized knowledge base and skill set

multicultural counseling Essay
Multicultural Counseling
After reading the many articles on the notion of diagnosis and counseling with multicultural/ethnic
patients, it has come to my attention that this focus is solely based on stereotypical attitudes. Sure, it
can be said that it is important for a therapist to have a background of the patient s heritage and
culture, but doesn t this necessarily mean that the outlook of the therapist will be put in a box by doing
so? I think multicultural competency is a ridiculous way to improve patient therapist relationships
because of several reasons. First off, generalities and race centralisms only hinder, not improve, the
inner workings of a therapy session. Second, there is no real way to test ... Show more content on

This bias will be formed in the classroom in which multicultural competency takes place. If therapists
are taught certain things about certain races, they have no choice but to implement these issues into
their practice. I think the implementation of any sort of knowledge is absolutely dependent on the
patient and what is the nature of their illness.
If there is a model for competency involving multicultural issues, the therapist, especially, is forced to
look at the information taught to s/he in the study for the competency. After going through the process
of understanding multicultural issues (however this is possible) and having passed the exam that tells
them that they are multiculturally competent, a strange occurrence will take place when putting these
studies into practical use in the therapy environment. Let s say that therapist Dr. Harry Potter has a
new patient coming in for the first time today. Her name is Janet Lee. Already by having been a part of
society for 40 some years, Potter makes the assumption that Lee is a Chinese name; therefore his new
patient is Chinese. Potter then puts on his therapists hat and thinks back to what he learned in his
competency class about Chinese patients. He remembers what he learned of their relationships with
their parents, their understandings of the US and how they feel about therapy. Now Janet walks in.
They began conversing. Janet begins to feel

Hurricane Harvey
This event was a major catastrophe mostly due to its destructive economic damage on the Gulf Coast
that exceeded even Hurricane Katrina in 2005. The death toll of approximately 82 people attributable
to Harvey is a very small portion compared to Katrina s, but the cost in damages is unrivaled. Current
estimates for Harvey are at $180 billion compared to Katrina s $108 billion (Amadeo, 2017). This
makes Harvey the costliest natural event to ever hit the United States and justifies it as more than just
a disaster or a hazard.
The resiliency of the impacted community can be improved by creating more areas for flood waters to
be contained. Urban planners can assess the areas of Houston that were hit by Harvey or that are most
vulnerable to flood damage and designate these areas as parks for diverting flood waters rather than
rebuilding them. City officials can also limit new infrastructure development in high risk ... Show

The U.S Department of Health and Human Services (2005) explains how important it is to reduce the
amount of added sugars, saturated fat, and sodium to prevent weight gain or health problems such as

In addition, I would also recommend increasing whole foods in his diet. Eating healthy snacks such as

India And Pakist An Ideal Comparative Pair Essay
In 1947, India and Pakistan became newly independent states, leaving behind British colonial rule.
Due to the shared geographical location, background and culture between these nations, these two
countries have often been compared against each other. However, since earning independence, India
and Pakistan have undergone significantly different political trajectories. This paper will explore
various factors that have impacted the nation building of these countries and understand why India has
been successful in practicing democracy, while Pakistan has been afflicted with military and autocratic
governments. India and Pakistan share cultures and histories yet have stark differences in political
regime type, making an ideal comparative pair for inquiry.
Historical Narrative
Oldenburg describes India and Pakistan as fraternal twins due to their shared levels of extreme poverty
and extreme inequality in 1947. However, the struggle to be free of British rule was distinct which set
a vital precedent for the subsequent regimes of Pakistan and India. The British withdrawal was hasty
due to their realization they could no longer afford to hold on to its over extended empire. One of the
main reasons for the creation of a separate Muslim nation in the Indian subcontinent was due to the
conflicting religious views of Hindus and Muslims. These issues had existed prior to British colonial
rule, however the differences were exacerbated by British policy. Britain as a colonizer, followed

Population aging has been a global issue. According to the United Nations statistics, population aging
is occurring throughout the world. In 2015, there are 901 million people aged 60 or over, comprising
12% of the global population. The population aged 60 or above is growing at a rate of 3.26% per year.
It is projected that by 2050, the global population of all major areas of the world except Africa will
have nearly a quarter or more of their populations aged 60 or over. [37]
Population aging can be expected to have far reaching economic, social and political implications, and
many governments are consider increasing the statutory ages at retirement in an effort to prolong the
labor force participation of older persons and improve the financial sustainability of pension systems.
At the same time, population aging and growth in the number of persons at very advanced ages, in

Genetic Engineering of Humans
Human genetic engineering in the world today has become an issue because of its many positive uses
and its probable consequences. There is no denying that it could be incredibly useful for preventing

There is group from Great Britain called the Human Genetic Alert who is standing up for the same

Difference Between Goodwill And Impairment
Introduction
Goodwill and impairment is very well related in accounting concept, impairment is a concept in
accounting that explains stable reduction in value of asset (Dauang ploy,O.,Shelton,M.,
Omer,K.,2005). To calculate impairment loss it is essential to de cide the amount of value in use, and
this involve the calculation of the cash flows which are supposed to be produced from the use of
assets. Goodwill can only be recognised when it is obtain in business combination.
Impairment
Impairment is a concept in accounting that explains stable reduction in value of asset.
Total profit and cash flow are expected to be produce by certain asset which is occa sionally
contrasted with book value. If the book value is more than cash flow of the asset, the remaining
amount should be written off and the value should be rejected from the balance sheet
(Dauangploy,O.,et. al.,2005). If the carrying amount is more than recoverable amount, it can indicate
the loss of impairment. Then the recover able amounts need to be written down. There are two
different models to recognise impairment, cost model and revaluation model. Impairment loss in cost
model can be recognised directly in profit or loss. In revaluation model asset is measured in its fair
value and impairment loss is recognised as descending revaluation.
Impairment loss, Cash Generating Unit¬¬¬¬¬¬
To calculate impairment loss it is essential to decide the amount of value in use, and this involve the
calculation of the cash flows which are supposed to be produced from the use of assets. Though, some
assets don t produce cash flow by itself. This is the reason why the cash flow is increasing due to the
combination of few assets together. In other word, car used by sales person does not produce cash
flow by itself (Sun,L., Zhang,J.,2017). When the asset can not generate cash flow by itself it is
necessary to group them and it is called cash generating unit . Cash generating unit is the smallest
recognisable group of assets that brings cash inflow.
At the end of the period after identifying what is Cash Generating unit is, manage ment need to figure
out if impairment is occur or not. If there is possibility of impair ment, calculation of recoverable

competitively reposition the company to take advantage of future growth opportunities, diversify the

Additionally, employees have voiced concern about sustaining momentum and attention on values
after the training program. However, there is no process in place that enables employees to keep the
focus on values through meetings, additional training or a communication network. Without this
mechanism, the momentum created at training programs will slow and the sustainability of the value
system will be put at risk.
In addition, Bronfman has not created a controlling and rewarding system to measure the results and
reward or punish the behavior of individuals. Employees are concerned that those who are living the
values will not be recognized and rewarded. They are also concerned about how to deal with values
violators . It is difficult to create buy in to the values if compliance cannot be determined. Further,
without an incentive to adhere, individuals will most likely be indifferent to the values. Clearly, you
get what you reward and if Bronfman wants people to live the values, then he must find a way to
measure and reward that behavior.
Recommendation 1 2 Structuring Processes to Sustain Seagram s New Values
The lack of structuring processes has led to questions on how new recommendations concerning the
values will be handled and how the current momentum of the program can be sustained. To create this
process, we recommend that Bronfman continue to leverage its existing managerial structure by

Argumentative Essay On The Humane Society
The Humane Society of the United States (HSUS) is the nation s largest and most effective animal
protection organization which provides hands on care and services to more than 100,000 animals each
year. HSUS is working to put in place animal care and control agencies to create communities for our
wildlife neighbors, where humane and non lethal solutions are given priority (Humane Society). The
author has a compact argument and properly uses facts and statistics, logos, to support their argument.
Additionally, the author does not rely on ethos, to gain their audiences attention. A nine month
undercover investigation by the Humane Society of the United States has revealed unlawful
mistreatment of hundreds of chimpanzees and other primates at a federally funded New Iberia
Research Center (NIRC) in Louisiana. The NIRC cages about 6,000 monkeys and 325 chimpanzees
on its 100 acres which is a massive amount. The investigation reveals animals forced with anxiety and
discomfort behind bars of this research facility. Jane Goodall, Ph.D., DBE, founder of the Jane
Goodall Institute UN Messenger of Peace which advocates improved welfare for and better
knowledge of chimpanzees, primates, and other animals said, In no lab I have visited have I seen so
many chimpanzees exhibit such intense fear (Humane Society). In 1900, close to 1 million
chimpanzees lived in the wild, as of today there are as few as 340,000, which is an astonishing drop of

Rocking Around the Clock with Bill Haley and the Comets
You could say that I started to like rock and roll at the age of eight. What woke me up and made me

1920s or jazz or even classical so my little ears picked up whatever music dad was enjoying at the
moment. Suddenly dad was faced with a little daughter who was intently watching the TV screen and
a young man on the screen singing in a loud voice, Let me be your teddy bear . I guess dad realized he

Causes Of The Great Railroad Strike Of 1877
The Great Railroad strike of 1877 led to many problems this strike, also referred to as the Great
Upheaval, which began in July in a town named Martinsburg, West Virginia, the railroad strike ended
forty five days after locals, state militias and federal troops shut it down. The goals of the railroad
strike were for a wage increase. The workers of the railroad were not represented by labor unions,
which mad the workers angry therefore several cities started to build armories to support their militias
to avoid any problems. There were many causes of the strike, one was that the civil war ended and a
boom in railroad construction ensued about 55,000 of new tracks being laid between the years 1866
and 1873. In 1873, the Wake of the panic developed between workers and leaders. As immigration
from Europe was underway, the railroad jobs were increasing and it became a competition, which
enables companies to drive down the wages and lay off their workers. Speculators fed large amounts
of money into the railroad industry causing an abnormal growth (en.wikipedia.org).
This was the country s first railroad strike in nation s history as well as the first general strike. Strikes
and violence spawned briefly, paralyzed the country s commerce, and led the governors in ten states to
mobilize militias to reopen rail traffic. Northern railroads were stills struggling from the Financial
Panic of 1873, which led to cutting salaries and cutting wages. Another thing is cutbacks promoted

How Did The Lodz Ghetto Affect The Holocaust
The Holocaust was a time when Jews were sent to concentration camps and force to work. There were

The Lodz ghetto was one of the many ghettos with the purpose of hard laboring. Lodz was crowded

The Impact of Philosophy on Government
Between the time of Machiavelli s The Prince and Locke s Second Treatise of
Government, the concept of government evolved greatly. There were several philosophers that
contributed their ideas and helped build the foundation for the governments we have today. Niccolo
Machiavelli, an Italian philosopher, who lived from 1469 1527, became well known with his ideas and
concepts of government. Machiavelli in his book The Prince, a guide of how to rule dedicated to
Lorenzo de Medici, ruler of Florence at that time, clearly exposed his concepts about what he thought
a ruler had to do to be respected and admired.

Hobbes left very clear in his work that for a government to be powerful it had to have a strong central
authority. His ideas had a great impact on the Federalists during the first steps of the creation of the

create the Federal Constitution of 1787 since they also saw the American people unable to defend
themselves and keep the country as a strong nation against the foreign menace.
Another important philosopher of the early 17th century was Baruch de Spinoza, a Dutch philosopher
born in 1632. His ideas were the most radical of the early modern period. His Treatise, The Ethics:

of society, religion and the well being of men.
He studied Hobbes and Machiavelli s works intensely but he differ from them in a major way.
He did not believe that there was a supernatural power or God that had to settle the differences among
men or to punish them if they did not act properly. He stated that the government had to be created by
human beings for their specific needs and purposes, but for this government to be effective it had to be

Kepler s Laws Of Planetary Motion
Kepler s Laws Johannes Kepler formulated the Three Laws of Planetary Motion. The first is the Law
of Orbits, stating that all planets move in elliptical orbits with the sun at one focus. The second law is
the Law of Areas. This is the idea that a line that connects the planet to the sun sweeps out equal areas
in the plane of the planet s orbit in equal time intervals. Last is the Law of Periods which states that
the square of the period of any planet is proportional to the cube of the semi major axis of its orbit. It
is simple to just accept the laws and memorize them, but take it a step further. What are the
explanations to these laws and how did Kepler come to those conclusions? The results that Kepler
published actually began with Tycho Brahe. Brahe was interested in reforming astronomy, and wanted
to prove his idea that planets circle the sun which then move around the stationary earth. He made
several observations with advanced instruments that still to this day have been proven by calculations
done with modern computers to be quite accurate. All of Brahe s observations were very useful and
interesting to Kepler who became Brahe s assistant in 1600. Some propose that Brahe only continued
making observations because he was unsure of what to do with them or how to apply them, so it was
left up to assistants such as Johannes Kepler to put the information to use (J.V. Field). Kepler had been
engaging in finding an orbit of Mars, and Brahe s observations

The Case For Steady State Operations
Embrace the Role
Most military members agree that being a leader means being in charge regardless of the situation.
While this axiom may hold true during the joint operation phases of Seize the Initiative or Dominate ,
it is not the case for steady state operations with the IA. This axiom has become a caricature of the
DoD mindset in the minds of many civilian leaders. If military service members are to become more
effective with IA coordination, they must understand and appreciate three dynamics to steady state
operations. First, the value that our partners bring to the fight . Second, that in the steady state, DoD is
not the lead agency. Third, with the overabundant emphasis of the topic in joint doctrine, most leaders

Optimism In Night
Hope and optimism can be a very broad topic but that all depends on how you look at it. And by no
means are they the same thing. Optimism is being confident of the future or confident in the success of
something. Hope is a feeling that something desired might happen which is completely different from
actually believing something and having confidence in it. Some say optimism is a lifestyle choice
which is completely rational. Both of these topics are shown throughout all these following pieces of

The Arguments In The Downside Of Grit, By Alfie Kohn
The idea of grit is to be used to help students improve on goals they ve made, but in the The Downside

them and achieving them with little success. Kohn claims that grit can be counterproductive because
anyone could be continuing something that doesn t make them content with the outcome. He also
discusses about how people with grit could experience issues with psychological health when you try

that there is no point in continuing with a problem that has no solution, just like how you shouldn t

system to database in several seconds. Moreover, it is known that for any company or organization,
value of time is an essential factor. Time management system of a company can get more benefits
from using biometric verification system. Saving time also can cause increasing revenue, productivity,
and reducing cost. In other words, to avoid fraud and waste of time is main point for getting a good
achievement in business. 4In addition, saving money is another advantage of biometric verification
system, hence after having this system, there is no need for high priced password authority. For
example, if a company uses systems of high quality, it means that product cost is reduced or
minimized. 4Return on investment is so high because of avoiding fraud, decreasing cost, and other
reasons. Thus, it is beneficial for a company to use biometric verification system, especially, it is an
advance for finance management system of company in terms of getting more

The Advantages Of Scandium
1 INTRODUCTION
Scandium exists in nature in its oxide system, and blots to pink or yellow. It is very hard to reduce to
its pure elemental state. In fact, it was not insulated in pure form until 1937 and the first batter of pure
elemental scandium metal was not produced until 1960. Scandium in oxide form is stated to as
Scandia, or of course scandium oxide, and the chemical method is Sc2O3 [1]. Scandium, a unique
alloying element for aluminum, scandium, expected to yield 907,185 t of final Al Sc product. Original
mining and processing of the compound ore and refining of scandium focuses have resulted in the Al
Sc primary alloy. The development of Al Sc alloys first prospered in the Soviet Union, where military

Scandium has a broad emission spectrum that generates a daylight effect desirable for camera lighting,
movie and television studio lights W [1].
1.4 ADVANTAGES OF SCANDIUM ADDITION
Scandium reinforced aluminum alloys suggestion design engineers several significant advantages over
other high strength aluminum alloys, containing Inhibition of recrystallization. Remarkably, scandium
increases the recrystallization temperature of aluminum alloys to above 600°C, well above the
temperature range of heat treatable aluminum alloys. It has been perceived that the addition of
scandium with zirconium is more effective than the addition of scandium alone. Small add ons of
scandium in the range of 0.2 0.6 wt. % take about a high specific strengthening effect. Scandium
provides the highest addition of strengthening per atom percent of any alloying element when added to
aluminum. Al Mg Sc alloys are adept of developing strength and fracture toughness similar to that of
Al 2024 T3 alloy. Scandium has the facility to refine grain size. It is a strong transformer of cast
structure, and the addition of scandium makes it possible to obtain continuously cast billets with a non

How Social Media Could Rule Banking And Insurance Essay
How Social Media Could Rule Banking and Insurance When the internet first came into being, there
was no way that the finance of a country could depend on it. But it was quite evident that internet was
heavily dependent on the financial stature of a republic. However, times have changed now. The
financial condition of a country is heavily dependent on the prevalent social media like Facebook,
LinkedIn and Twitter which could not only back gear but also completely stop an upcoming financial
crisis. This has rendered them as some of the biggest financial organizations available in the current
market. It is also stated that the likes of Facebook, LinkedIn and Twitter will rule banking and
insurance in the near future. Similarities: When we say the Facebook, LinkedIn and Twitter will be the
kings and queens of banking and insurance, we must first look into the similarities that these two
sectors share. This understanding will lead us to get an idea of how these social media are controlling
the financial section. A superficial outlook will provide us with absolutely no similarities between the
two sectors. But a little thought will show us how these two are completely entwined. Facebook,
LinkedIn and Twitter have completely changed the way we used to internet say about a decade ago.
Banks and insurance companies are now utilizing these social media to reach out to new customers i.e.
advertising and to maintain their communication with the already available one. Let s look into the

World War 1 Trenches
The trenches in World War 1 could be muddy and smelly. There was many dead bodies buried nearby.
The toilets would overflow into the trenches occasionally. Millions of rats that grew the size of cats
would infest the trenches, and lice would bother the soldiers every day. The trenches were long skinny
ditches that were dug into the ground by the soldiers. Soldiers lived in these trenches all day and night.
And would protect the soldiers. Trench warfare reached its highest development on the western front
when armies of men faced each other in a line of trenches. The western front extended from the
Belgian coast through to northern eastern France to Switzerland. Trenches were not an enjoyable place
to be.
During trench warfare endless infections,

Spinach Chromatography
The purpose of this experiment was to learn about the analytical method known as chromatography
which allows the separation of a mixture into its molecular components. In order to illustrate this
technique the pigments found in the leaves of spinach were separated by means of thin layer
chromatography (TLC). All chromatographic techniques have one principle in common; a liquid or
gaseous solution of sample, called the moving phase, is passed (moved) through an adsorbent, called a
stationary phase. With TLC the adsorbent of choice was one of the most common coatings, silica gel,
SiO2. This compound is polar, and therefore, is frequently used in the separation of polar substances
such as aldehydes, ketones, amines and carboxylic acids. On the other hand, a mixture of nonpolar
solvents (petroleum ether and cyclohexane) was used as the solvent. ... Show more content on

The pigments of fresh, frozen and canned spinach were extracted by grinding the mixture until
observing a powder looking appearance. The sand was used to destroy the cell walls of spinach and
free the pigments while any traces of water were being removed by the drying agent (MgSO4).
Following this, the mixtures were transferred to three labeled test tubes in which 2.0 mL of acetone
were added to each. The acetone washes the photopigments from the cells and cytoplasm. In this
manner, using a fixed speed vortex mixer, the mixture was shaken vigorously for 10 minutes. Upon
completion of mixing, the frozen and canned spinach displayed three distinctive layers, the bottom
layer containing sediments, the middle layer, a cloudy solution, and the top layer a homogeneous
green liquid. The ideal separation will have excluded the middle layer, which was a result of traces of
water present in the

Cultural Competence Of Medical Care
Encountering a fast growing aging nation, the U.S. government strives to create the cultural
competence of medical care providers for this to lower health inequalities. The overall rising number
of the older adult population exemplifies a cultural icon within itself. The proportion of older adults
from ethnic and racial minority groups is projected to increase exponentially by 2050, with the largest
growth rates being among Hispanics, followed by Asian Pacific Islanders, American Indians, and
African Americans. During the year of 2006, the U.S. Census Bureau stated that 19 percent of the U.S.
population that is aged 65 years and older would be considered as a minority. In 2050, 39 percent of
the countries older adults will be denoted by minority groups. For these predictions, organizations
should incorporate community outreach. This will help in studying the population and learning who
are the most efficient resource individuals within the ethnic groups. Also, they can predict the need
and demand for alliances or affiliations so that when families get there, the health care organizations
can be more organized and be prepared to give pertinent services and resources. Organizations can
reach out to religious groups to help engage workers, trainers, or religious leaders who has a better
understanding of the individual s cultural back and they can also help in educating employees in the
distinctions of working with them to display respect (Lehman, D., Fenza, P.,

Shleiermacher Scripture Analysis
THE AUTHORITY AND NATURE OF SCRIPTURE
Christian phrases dominate the local Church and often spawn from core doctrinal beliefs. Employed
by two different groups, such slogans often lack the backing of intellectual understanding. The first
group repeats Christian colloquialisms in a desperate attempt to exhibit a fake intellectual
understanding to his or her peers. The second group mindlessly recites Christian expressions because
of tradition and expectation of the church body. Thus, if a person merely conveyed inquiries regarding
core doctrinal statements, both groups would dogmatically argue for the view, which their church tells
them. However, when questioned as to the foundation of such a claim, both groups could not
adequately demonstrate ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One major concern with the Evangelical view of the authority Scripture resides not within doctrine,
but rather their methodology. Charles Finney, although an important flare in early Evangelical revivals
and stalwart supporter of the authority of Scripture, often forced individuals into repentance through
various means such as alter calls. Finney, thus, subsequently replaced the authority of the Bible with
his own. Although Evangelicals carry flaws, the Evangelical view of the authority of Scripture
parallels that of early Christian thought and doctrine, thus providing an expansive lineage of
authenticity of the Scriptures. Furthermore, such validity of Scripture s authority cultivates a heart of
acceptance in the Christian. Thus, Scripture holds authority not only in its pages, but also in the
Christian s heart. Additionally, from the start, Evangelicals have sought to uphold the authority of
Scripture by examining it in its full context, while contemporaries of Evangelicalism Liberalism and
Neo Orthodoxy exploit certain sections of the Bible, without proper exploration of it as a whole. Such
evidence, grounds the Evangelicals view of the authority of Scripture and thereby shows its
superiority over Liberalism and

German Secret Weapons of World War II
German Secret Weapons of World War II Introduction German jets had many unique designs during
World War II. These designs have fascinated many airplane designers since the end of the war. My
purpose is not meant to praise the World War II Nazi Air Force, but to show how Germany developed
these airplanes and how they used them. It was fortunate for the Allied powers of World War II and the
world that the U.SA.F. Defeated the axis powers. If the allies had delayed entering the war a few more
months, this would have allowed the Germans enough time to produce large amounts of these jet
airplanes, and the outcome would certainly have been different or too close for comfort. German
technology advances in modern warfare were more of a danger to the world that many would like to
admit. We are very fortunate that Adolf Hitler made the mistakes he made in the design and
production of these advanced airplanes. Adolf Hitler was responsible for making decisions that either
slowed or stopped many of these jet projects. The airplanes Germany had before anyone else were
faster than anything flying at the time. So why didn t Germany and the Axis powers win the war if this
was true? The answer is that Allied powers produced more of the B 24 s the B 17 s and also P 51
Mustangs by the tens of thousands. The Allies also dropped thousands of tons of bombs on German
airplane factories, until they destroyed all of the Nazi manufacturing plants and destroyed the entire
German air force, along

Evaluation Of The American Counseling Association
Self Evaluation The American Counseling Association (2014) defines counseling as a professional
relationship that empowers diverse individuals to meet their goals in various areas of their life. I view
counseling as a ministry that is designed to help individuals acquire the skills necessary to deal with
life experiences and foster positive relationships, and establish and complete goals. According to
Flanagan Flanagan (2014), establishing a positive rapport is essential before developing assessments
and interventions (p.7). Therefore, I will take the necessary steps in building positive rapports with my
clients. In order to be able to assist culturally diverse clients counselors should have a strong sense of
self awareness. Counselors who do not possess a high level of self awareness will hinder the progress
of their clients (Corey, Corey, and Callanan, 2011, p. 44). Therefore, it is very important that I am
aware of my areas of unresolved issues or biases. In effort to learn more about myself, I recently
completed three personality assessments, Myers Briggs Type Indicator, Gallup Strengths Finder and
Strong Interest Inventory. They revealed a plethora of information about me, some of which was
rather surprising. The Myers Briggs Personality indicator identified my personality type as ENTP.
According to Sharf (2013), ENTP personality types are described as quick, ingenious, stimulating,
alert, outspoken, and resourceful in solving challenging problems (p.150). I

The Aboriginal Dreaming refers to the religious and spiritual beliefs of the aboriginal people of
Australia. The dreaming is what they base their traditional lives around, the dreaming determines their
values and beliefs and their relationships with the animals, plants and environment around them. The
Dreaming tells the stories that explain their views and beliefs on how the world came to be and its

Rituals and ceremonies:
The aboriginal people believe that in performing rituals such as carobories tells stories of the spirits
forming into what they represent such as the emu or kangaroo. These sacred dances are performed on
the coming of age ceremonies and many other significant occasions. The sites where these ceremonies
are performed are sacred and can only be accessed by certain groups, women and elders and only for
the purpose of initiation.
Aboriginal art:
The traditional aboriginal art depicts places, events and dreaming ancestors, also incorporating actual
events, whereas the temporary was only for initiation ceremonies and funerals. The aboriginal art
opens up ways of communicating the close relationship between the ancestral beings and the laws,
views, values, ceremonies and obligations of the people. They enable understanding and knowledge
within a community and also partcially the outside world.
Connections with the land:
The land is the centre of aboriginal spirituality, it is the core of their religion. The land is the people
and the people are the land. The land is where they believe the ancestors are. To aboriginals their god
is not one singular god up in the sky but many ancestors that are part of the earth and formed and are
part of everything natural that is seen today. They believe that the ancestors came through the earth

I can say I have been fortunate to have four little blessings of my own. I consider each of them as a blessing and each day I am reminded of how much they mean to me. My children have brought out the best in me parts that I never knew existed. As children grow, so do parents. I have evolved into a better person with the courage to overcome all obstacles because of the love that I have for my children. At the age of twenty, my life was full of constant turmoil and instability. I had a plan, and children were not a part of it. I never imagined that I would ever have children. ... Although I gained the knowledge to be a more stable and positive individual, something was still missing in my life. The missing piece soon fell into place upon the birth of my twin boys, Irijah and Isaac. A multiple birth was a miracle within itself. It seemed unreal because no one in my family was ever blessed with two babies. Although it took a lot of adjustment, we made it through the baby period. The hard part did not come until they became toddlers. (During this time), I noticed complications (in the development) (of the twins). I soon learned that although they were perfect on the outside my boys were suffering with autism. Irijah is severely autistic while Isaac s is mild. I knew that in order to conquer this obstacle, changes would have to be made. In the beginning I was unaware of what needed to be done, but I never gave up. I continue to fight for my boys and struggle to keep my sanity. This has been the toughest fight of my life because it involves a series of changes. These changes dealt with acceptance, transition, and adaptation. These were necessary steps because it gives the boys a chance to lead a somewhat normal life. Through the love of my sons, I have learned to adapt to change and have gained strength and perseverance that is necessary in life. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

(Unknown) This quote by an unknown source depicts the common mindset of the modern human. At the start of the 20th century America had had numerous major advancements in technology and business. These advancements helped to put America ahead, but at a cost. Emissions of Carbon Dioxide, other greenhouse gases and aerosols have been steadily increasing since this time period and show no signs of stopping soon (How Do We Know..). What is the reason for this? Could it be that people do not know what they are doing? Maybe people just do not care? Many persons in America will deny the changing climate because they claim there are no facts or they do not believe in the facts that scientists have come to find. The advancement of climate change through production of Carbon Dioxide, greenhouse gases and overuse of aerosol products can be blamed on mankind s waste and disregard. Carbon Dioxide, also referred to as Co2, is one of the adverse chemicals that has been contributing to climate change for decades. The careless attitude and dangerous professions of humans are, almost collectively, directly responsible for the ever rising Carbon Dioxide concentration in our air. Through identifying some most important influential factors in cross cultural communication, the paper points out some steps and sugestions which can be use to make a successful meeting between an Australian young business women and a traditional Japanese manager and discusses how those factors can lead to cross cultural communication failures. After that, it provides solutions for main types of cross cultural communication breakdown and strategies for enhancing effective communication. The Differences Between Logical, Ethical, and Dialectical Reasoning The ways human think are one of the most distinct differences amongst us all. No single person entire thought process is the same as someone else because every one comprehends differently. The way we think makes us who we are and the decisions we make are based off our thought process. We reason logically, ethically, or dialectically to come to a final decision. One can assume, the last one seen with a cookie is John so John ate all the cookies. Although John was last seen with a cookie, it does not conclude that John ate all of the cookies. It does not provide any new information just a rearrangement of previous information just like deductive reasoning. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... If smoking is associated with increased risk for periodontal disease, a reduction or elimination of tobacco use should reduce this risk and should be beneficial to the patient. There is good evidence that the occurrence of periodontal disease is less in previous smokers than in those who continue to smoke. Fullmer found that microbial profiles differed extensively between smokers and quitters at 6 and 12 months following smoking termination. The microbial community in smokers was similar to the baseline, while quitters demonstrated radically more divergent profiles. Changes in bacterial levels contributed to this shift. These findings reveal a vital role for smoking cessation in changing the subgingival biofilm and suggest a mechanism for enhanced periodontal health linked with smoking termination.10In a ten year radiographic follow up of alveolar bone loss, it was reported that progression of bone loss was significantly retarded in those who had given up smoking during the study, compared with those who sustained to smoke (Bolin et al., 2003)(X). In the Odyssey, Odysseus is first encountered by Circe s love and then by the over obsession of Calypso. Circe is an immortal goddess and enchantress who is extremely beautiful and sexy. In the Aeneid, Aeneas after reaching Carthage meets Dido who is a mortal woman and queen of Carthage. She is foreign, exotic, mysterious, sexually and politically potent. Talking about Odysseus, we see that Odysseus is approached by Hermes who warns him against Circe. She offers Odysseus to have sex with her and it happens. Odysseus now distracted, lives with her on her island for a year until his comrades remind him of Ithaca. The longest delay in Odysseus journey is at the island of Calypso. The Effects Of Concussions On Nfl Players Essay Preventing Concussions in NFL Players While the NFL is currently a very entertaining and popular American past time, there is one issue that threatens the future of the game concussions. Concussions affect 1.6 to 3.8 million athletes and children annually in the United States. Among athletes, football is the most common sport involving risks of concussions for males, and soccer is the most common sports with concussion risks for females. The NFL has admitted that brain trauma effects a third of all NFL players (Knowles.) Concussions have been part of the game since the very beginning, but it s only in the past 50 years or so that medical science and the public has become aware of the serious long term effects of concussions. The NFL is spending money on researching the problem, because they have been sued from hundreds of players that have suffered long term damage from concussions. The NFL needs to dedicate more money and research into increasing helmet safety, implementing rules and policies to protect players, and utilizing the best response treatment to prevent and protect players from concussions. Primarily, a concussion is an injury to the brain, caused by a hit or fall. Sometimes a person will have visible bruises, but sometimes there are no visible signs of a brain injury. • 13. Analyzing Two Theories of Business Power Two Theories of Business Power Introduction The Dominance and the Pluralist Theories led to the development of socialism and liberalism respectively. The two theories had notable differences, almost contrasting one another. For us to analyze and contrast the two theories, it is notable to understand the fundamental perceptions of Dominance and the Pluralism. Connolly and Connolly (2010) argue that we can define the dominance theory as the theory of Marxist, advanced by Karl Max. This theory has been clearly outlined in the manifesto of the communist. The theory of dominance argues that social divisions based on class result in ruling class community, who control all the production means. Marxism notes that if the proletariat is abused, it favors the interests of the bourgeoisie. This is commonly referred to as the elite theory drawn from Marxist because it suggests a disproportionate control over a privileged minority. Nevertheless, in this case, the control appears to be over the state mechanisms. Therefore, we can believe that the elites only have the ability to influence but not to control the production means. Perhaps, this could be an underlying reason why advocates of this theory are more contented with its continued application compared to other colleagues of Marxist (Tang, 2008). Pluralism is fundamentally a theory favoring equal distribution of power amongst people instead of one individual holding all the power. This theory supports having multiple institutions ... If there is a model for competency involving multicultural issues, the therapist, especially, is forced to look at the information taught to s/he in the study for the competency. After going through the process of understanding multicultural issues (however this is possible) and having passed the exam that tells them that they are multiculturally competent, a strange occurrence will take place when putting these studies into practical use in the therapy environment. Let s say that therapist Dr. Harry Potter has a new patient coming in for the first time today. Her name is Janet Lee. On the night of September 17th, Hurricane Maria was upgraded to Category 3 with surface winds up to 120 mph. Maria achieved Category 5 as it approached Dominica on September 18th (Moloney, 2017). This event was a major disaster as the total fatalities to the hurricane was at least 26 deaths in a country of more than 74,000 people (Pannell, Taguchi Louszko, 2017). To calculate impairment loss it is essential to de cide the amount of value in use, and this involve the calculation of the cash flows which are supposed to be produced from the use of assets. Goodwill can only be recognised when it is obtain in business combination. Impairment Impairment is a concept in accounting that explains stable reduction in value of asset. Total profit and cash flow are expected to be produce by certain asset which is occa sionally contrasted with book value. If the book value is more than cash flow of the asset, the remaining amount should be written off and the value should be rejected from the balance sheet (Dauangploy,O.,et. al.,2005). If the carrying amount is more than recoverable amount, it can indicate the loss of impairment. Then the recover able amounts need to be written down. There are two different models to recognise impairment, cost model and revaluation model. Impairment loss in cost model can be recognised directly in profit or loss. The first is the Law of Orbits, stating that all planets move in elliptical orbits with the sun at one focus. The second law is the Law of Areas. This is the idea that a line that connects the planet to the sun sweeps out equal areas in the plane of the planet s orbit in equal time intervals. Last is the Law of Periods which states that the square of the period of any planet is proportional to the cube of the semi major axis of its orbit. It is simple to just accept the laws and memorize them, but take it a step further. What are the explanations to these laws and how did Kepler come to those conclusions? The results that Kepler published actually began with Tycho Brahe. Brahe was interested in reforming astronomy, and wanted to prove his idea that planets circle the sun which then move around the stationary earth. He made several observations with advanced instruments that still to this day have been proven by calculations done with modern computers to be quite accurate. All of Brahe s observations were very useful and interesting to Kepler who became Brahe s assistant in 1600. Some propose that Brahe only continued making observations because he was unsure of what to do with them or how to apply them, so it was left up to assistants such as Johannes Kepler to put the information to use (J.V. Field). Kepler had been engaging in finding an orbit of Mars, and Brahe s observations ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This gives them freedom. They can live however they want with no boundaries. Wink, who is Hushpuppy s father, is an interesting character to the film. He is a very strong figure who wants no help with anything. Raising his daughter is all he cares about. Wink has some disease and only cares about showing his six year old daughter how to live on her own. One thing we hear wink say is I got it under control (Zeitlin). This is a very strong quote by him refusing help. This deepens our knowledge for him as a character by showing us how strong he is as a character and how much dignity he has. It shows us that he really wants to live his own life. Examples in the film of that are when he is taken to the Open Arms hospital and finds his own way out to escape back the the bathtub and again later in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 37. The Arguments In The Downside Of Grit, By Alfie Kohn The idea of grit is to be used to help students improve on goals they ve made, but in the The Downside of Grit by Alfie Kohn he would argue that somethings are better left alone instead of trying to pursue them and achieving them with little success. Kohn claims that grit can be counterproductive because anyone could be continuing something that doesn t make them content with the outcome. He also discusses about how people with grit could experience issues with psychological health when you try over and over again and end up with continuous failure. It would be better to find an alternative pathway that would cause less stress, and end with success. Another argument that Kohn has is against the reliability of the research done on grit doesn t rely on evidence. It ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... He also approaches the idea of creating a learning environment that help students explore ideas. This would help students participate more in their education. Overall grit is used for students to develop long term goals (Para 25). Seemingly students should explore their interest instead of following through with a goal they might not enjoy. Kohn makes it clear that you shouldn t go through with a goal if it doesn t give you satisfaction. Kohn also states that the motives of your goal should come first before you take action. Kohn states that grit is applied more to students than adults for completing academic goals, but fails to mention how grit can be applied outside of school. Alfie Kohn explains that there is no point in continuing with a problem that has no solution, just like how you shouldn t continue with a goal that doesn t give you contentment. I agree with Kohn that there s no point in continuing with a task that doesn t feel worth it to complete, a point that needs emphasizing ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 44. Spinach Chromatography The purpose of this experiment was to learn about the analytical method known as chromatography which allows the separation of a mixture into its molecular components. In order to illustrate this technique the pigments found in the leaves of spinach were separated by means of thin layer chromatography (TLC). All chromatographic techniques have one principle in common; a liquid or gaseous solution of sample, called the moving phase, is passed (moved) through an adsorbent, called a stationary phase. With TLC the adsorbent of choice was one of the most common coatings, silica gel, SiO2. This compound is polar, and therefore, is frequently used in the separation of polar substances such as aldehydes, ketones, amines and carboxylic acids. On the other hand, a mixture of nonpolar solvents (petroleum ether and cyclohexane) was used as the solvent. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In this manner, using a fixed speed vortex mixer, the mixture was shaken vigorously for 10 minutes. Upon completion of mixing, the frozen and canned spinach displayed three distinctive layers, the bottom layer containing sediments, the middle layer, a cloudy solution, and the top layer a homogeneous green liquid. The overall rising number of the older adult population exemplifies a cultural icon within itself. The proportion of older adults from ethnic and racial minority groups is projected to increase exponentially by 2050, with the largest growth rates being among Hispanics, followed by Asian Pacific Islanders, American Indians, and African Americans. During the year of 2006, the U.S. Census Bureau stated that 19 percent of the U.S. population that is aged 65 years and older would be considered as a minority. In 2050, 39 percent of the countries older adults will be denoted by minority groups. For these predictions, organizations should incorporate community outreach. This will help in studying the population and learning who are the most efficient resource individuals within the ethnic groups. • 47. Shleiermacher Scripture Analysis THE AUTHORITY AND NATURE OF SCRIPTURE Christian phrases dominate the local Church and often spawn from core doctrinal beliefs. Employed by two different groups, such slogans often lack the backing of intellectual understanding. The first group repeats Christian colloquialisms in a desperate attempt to exhibit a fake intellectual understanding to his or her peers. The second group mindlessly recites Christian expressions because of tradition and expectation of the church body. Thus, if a person merely conveyed inquiries regarding core doctrinal statements, both groups would dogmatically argue for the view, which their church tells them. However, when questioned as to the foundation of such a claim, both groups could not adequately demonstrate ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... One major concern with the Evangelical view of the authority Scripture resides not within doctrine, but rather their methodology. Charles Finney, although an important flare in early Evangelical revivals and stalwart supporter of the authority of Scripture, often forced individuals into repentance through various means such as alter calls. Finney, thus, subsequently replaced the authority of the Bible with his own. Although Evangelicals carry flaws, the Evangelical view of the authority of Scripture parallels that of early Christian thought and doctrine, thus providing an expansive lineage of authenticity of the Scriptures. Furthermore, such validity of Scripture s authority cultivates a heart of acceptance in the Christian. Thus, Scripture holds authority not only in its pages, but also in the Christian s heart. Additionally, from the start, Evangelicals have sought to uphold the authority of Scripture by examining it in its full context, while contemporaries of Evangelicalism Liberalism and Neo Orthodoxy exploit certain sections of the Bible, without proper exploration of it as a whole. Such evidence, grounds the Evangelicals view of the authority of Scripture and thereby shows its superiority over Liberalism and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 48. German Secret Weapons of World War II German Secret Weapons of World War II Introduction German jets had many unique designs during World War II. These designs have fascinated many airplane designers since the end of the war. My purpose is not meant to praise the World War II Nazi Air Force, but to show how Germany developed these airplanes and how they used them. It was fortunate for the Allied powers of World War II and the world that the U.SA.F. Defeated the axis powers. If the allies had delayed entering the war a few more months, this would have allowed the Germans enough time to produce large amounts of these jet airplanes, and the outcome would certainly have been different or too close for comfort. German technology advances in modern warfare were more of a danger to the world that many would like to admit. We are very fortunate that Adolf Hitler made the mistakes he made in the design and production of these advanced airplanes. Adolf Hitler was responsible for making decisions that either slowed or stopped many of these jet projects. The airplanes Germany had before anyone else were faster than anything flying at the time. So why didn t Germany and the Axis powers win the war if this was true? The answer is that Allied powers produced more of the B 24 s the B 17 s and also P 51 Mustangs by the tens of thousands. The Allies also dropped thousands of tons of bombs on German airplane factories, until they destroyed all of the Nazi manufacturing plants and destroyed the entire German air force, along ... Evaluation Of The American Counseling Association Self Evaluation The American Counseling Association (2014) defines counseling as a professional relationship that empowers diverse individuals to meet their goals in various areas of their life. I view counseling as a ministry that is designed to help individuals acquire the skills necessary to deal with life experiences and foster positive relationships, and establish and complete goals. According to Flanagan Flanagan (2014), establishing a positive rapport is essential before developing assessments and interventions (p.7). Therefore, I will take the necessary steps in building positive rapports with my clients. In order to be able to assist culturally diverse clients counselors should have a strong sense of self awareness. Counselors who do not possess a high level of self awareness will hinder the progress of their clients (Corey, Corey, and Callanan, 2011, p. 44). Therefore, it is very important that I am aware of my areas of unresolved issues or biases. In effort to learn more about myself, I recently completed three personality assessments, Myers Briggs Type Indicator, Gallup Strengths Finder and Strong Interest Inventory. They revealed a plethora of information about me, some of which was rather surprising. The Myers Briggs Personality indicator identified my personality type as ENTP. According to Sharf (2013), ENTP personality types are described as quick, ingenious, stimulating, alert, outspoken, and resourceful in solving challenging problems (p.150). I ...
