Usually contains software so that a person or program can use it to answer queries or extract desired information. The term "database" refers to the collection of related records, and the software should be referred to as the database management system (DBMS).

It is a set of programs that helps in controlling the organization's storage and retrieval of data in a database. 10. 1-DISTRIBUTED DATABASE: Many users can access the database at the same time without interfering each other. Economical and can be modified, added or removed from the system easily.

11. 2-NETWORK DATABASE: The network model tends to store records with links to other records. Most network databases tend to also include some form of hierarchical model. Used when large organizations spread over wide geographical area.

12. 3-OBJECT ORIENTED DATABASE: Information is represented in the form of objects as used in Object-Oriented programming. When database capabilities are combined with object programming language capabilities, the result is an object database management system (ODBMS). 13. HIERARCHICAL DATABASE: Data are organized into a tree-like structure. The structure allows repeating information using parent/child relationships :each parent can have many children but each child only has one parent.
