Product advertising For a single product e.g.  model  of car (but not range of cars) Advertising principles: Identify target audience of the product Identify advertising campaign to appeal to that target audience Identify media (one or many) to use that will reach the target audience
Business advertising To make a business famous (this will make money to advertise itself) To make the company name familiar (not a product) Same principles: Identify target audience for the business Identify advertising campaign to appeal to that target audience Identify media (one or many) to use that will reach the target audience
Service Advertising This advertises services and NOT goods Examples of service industries: Insurance Government Tourism Banking Education Social services Same principles as before, however the service may not spend the same amount of money as a business Tend to use TV to reach to a wider audience as they tend to appeal to a wide target audience if not everyone!

Corporate house style What is it: way of recognising the company trade mark/symbol/branding/unique style Can include: logo colour scheme font style paragraph style page layout page formatting pre-defined styles for bullets How used: letter heads business cards advertising websites/web pages company vehicles fax/email (letter head/e-signature) packaging/staff uniforms

Range of multimedia: sound, animation, text, images, video Easy to navigate Hyperlinks  to other pages and sites Name of company Company logo Company House style Easy to find Contact details Ensure that the company appears in the top 10 list when searched for using a search engine
Advertising on other people’s websites Cheaper but there is a fee to the other person for allowing your banner/pop-up Web banner:  this like an online flyer/poster
Pop Up &  Pop Up Under Pop-Up:  this is when a small window appears on top of the webpage Advantage of a Pop-Up : Immediately grabs the users attention Disadvantage of a Pop-Up : Web browsers are more likely to block pop-ups and customer may not like pop-ups and not use the company for this reason Pop-Up Under:  this is a small window that appears under the webpage, so the user only notices it when they close the webpage.  Advantage of Pop-Up Under:  Do not get blocked and do not annoy customers as much
Online directory Directories for business and service providers Placed alphabetical order Placed in a business/service section Example:  www.yell.com
Multimedia Presentations Incorporated in websites Used on purpose-built displays and put in different locations Examples: placed in malls, airports Advantages: screens are on all the time in the mall, user can not switch off or control the presentation, quick and easy to update This method is on the increase!
Flyers Usually a single page leaflet Usually to advertise LOCALLY for example: restaurant, event, service, party at a club/bar Usually used by small businesses/individuals Cheap, quick and can be made using your own PC, DTP software and Printer
