Christopher Wren Research Paper
Christopher Wren can be called the largest phenomena of English architecture of the period of the
second half of 17th century and beginning of 18th century. His life is free from the rebellious quest of
the previous generation and to the brim is filled with often very bold, but sure and planned
development of what has been achieved in the field of exact sciences and then architecture. Fine arts,
literature and, in general, the humanities, apparently did not fascinate him. The son of the abbot of
Windsor Abbey and the nephew of the bishop, and hence the representative of the privileged social
stratum, with its settled way of life and influential connections, Christopher received a brilliant
education at that time and early surrendered to scientific interests, discovering, like many ... Show

In a Newton s opinion he was one of the three most outstanding mathematicians of his time. Wren was
a professor of astronomy at Oxford. He developed many inventions, including construction
mechanisms, and later became one of the founders and first presidents of the Royal Society created in
1660. However, Wren went down in history, first of all, as the most outstanding architect of his
country. To the architecture of Wren turned relatively late, in the thirty third year of life, and then after
repeated insistence of influential customers. This in itself testifies to a new attitude to architecture,
perceived by that time as an activity requiring deep, diverse knowledge and a broad outlook. And one
of the turning point in his life, which led to appeal to architecture, was the Great Fire of London in
1666. Wren creates a project for a radical redevelopment of the city, rejected, however, by the
reactionary authorities. At the same time, Wren received the order for the construction his the most
monumental structure of the St. Paul s Cathedral in London and rebuilding burned churches, of which

Stadium Essay
Considering the former examples of iconic structures reveals certain common characteristics; they are
usually within walking distance of the city center, they are often beside attractive points such as a
body of water or central park, they are characterized by unique and innovative architecture and
functional planning of surrounding area.
4 1 2 Stadium s approach in the city:
The design focuses on dealing with different groups in the city, heir changing forms in spatial
organization, the positive and negative impacts on the urban environment, and the pressures that exist
to force fans especially the foreigner to deal with new locations. Those emphases on dealing with site

So the designed is based on the smooth transition of spaces from outside to inside or vice versa, those
spaces represented in entertain plazas, pedestrian malls, concourse points, some services facilities
(restaurants, bar), sidewalks and parking lots. Its activities considered as entertainment open air for
pedestrian, in addition; those activities have to afford spectators direct entrance to the stadium (Fig 23,

for welcoming and hosting fans, besides being an existing venue could be integrated into the urban
fabric of the city center or nearby residential spaces. The stadium s urban interaction with its
surroundings imposes a literature of urban design that suggests architecture and urban design are
experiencing a rise in significance in a globalizing activity and economy as cities increasingly
compete for community and tourists (Humphreys, Howard, 2008). Focusing on the current
international trend of stadium architecture (Siegfried, Truong, 2009), it uses iconic elements and
provides typically large public subsidies for stadium construction in order to maximize public

I Am A Dog Food For My Trolley
It takes me the whole drive to keep calm. Even though I have annoyance and humiliation swirling in
me. I m not quite sure what the hell was wrong with him. Normally, when people live in a small town
they re sweet and welcoming, not act like they re related to Satan. Even he gave me the wrong
directions to the grocery store. Oh, the signs of a gentlemen. It doesn t take me long to find the
shopping store, which was literally five streets away. I quickly hop out of my car and remember that I
need to get dog food for my golden retriever while I m grocery shopping. Then, I rapidly get my
iPhone out of my pocket and text mum, sending: Be back in half and hour, love you. I m a quick
shopper, wasting no time strolling through aisles. Throwing all sorts of items to my trolley. When my
trolley is filled to its rim, I get in line. Sarah? Someone asks, behind me. I jump back dropping cartoon
of eggs on the floor accidentally. Crap. I m so sorry! I startled you, a boy around the age of seventeen
says. His, muscular tan arms shot out picking up the packet of eggs, placing them back to the shelf. He
grabs another peer of eggs and handles it to me. These shouldn t be cracked. I glance up at the figure
in front of me. His smile was soft, like petals caught in a breeze. It was just enough to allow a gleam
of white and a slight dimple in his left cheek. I m Cole, Matt s brother. He says placing the unharmed
eggs in my trolley. I glance at him for a brief moment, he

Fetal Alcohol Syndrome (FAS) is a disorder that occurs when a mother consumes alcohol while
pregnant. Individuals with FAS may face many problems such as, bad vision, hearing impairments,
memory difficulty, communicative hurdles, and much more (Bergen Yu, 2012). In began in 1981 when
expecting mothers were advised not to drink while pregnant (Alcohol Policies Project, n.d). However,
is 1995 4 times more mothers were consuming alcohol in comparison to a few years earlier in 1991
(Alcohol Policies Project, n.d). In addition, 52 percent of women ages 18 34 claimed to have been

Much research has supported the fact that there is brain structure differences in individuals diagnosed
with FASD (Nunez, el al 2011). Research into the brain of individuals has discovered abnormalities in
the volume and thickness of the frontal lobes (Nunez, el al 2011). This results in impairments in
attention, working memory, and executive functioning that can be traced back to the frontal lobes
(Nunez, el al 2011). In addition researchers have also found smaller volumes of basal ganglia, which
is a group of nuclei associated with motor control and learning (Nunez, el al 2011). Furthermore,
caudate nucleus, which is inside the basal ganglia has also been found to be smaller in individuals was
FASD (Nunez, el al 2011). Caudate nucleus is associated with mental flexibility and behaviour
inhibition (Nunez, el al 2011). The hypothalamus, which is most responsible for its link with the
nervous system was also found to be smaller in individuals was FASD (Nunez, el al 2011). Moreover,
the thalamus was also found to be of smaller volume and is responsible for relaying motor and sensory
signals to the cerebral cortex (Nunez, el al 2011). Luckily studies have also found that the

Soft drink Thums Up
Introduction
The soft drink industry in India is one of the most competitive with many international and domestic
players operating in the market. Initially domestic players like Parle group dominated the Indian soft
drink market with brands like Thums up, Limca, Goldspot etc. However with the re entry of MNC
players like Pepsi in 1991 and Coca Cola in 1993, the market took a decisive shift in favour of these
MNCs and over the years Coca Cola and Pepsi have become the prominent players in the market.
Soft drinks can be principally classified into carbonated and non carbonated. Carbonated drinks
include cola, lemon and orange flavors while non carbonated drinks principally comprise of mango

Death Becomes Her Analysis
Death Becomes Her is a 1992 fantasy comedy where Academy Award winner Meryl Streep (2012,
The Iron Lady, IMDb) and Golden Globe Winner Goldie Hawn (1970 Cactus Flower, IMDb) star in,
where two middle age women find an elixir that promises to grant eternal physically youth in order to
compete for the love of wealthy plastic surgeon played by Bruce Willis. Similar to the premise of this
movie, eternal youth has been a topic of debate among societies expectations to be young and
beautiful for others admiration. Society plays a large part and is the culprit that perpetuates the
standards of beauty for women and increasingly for men to live up to which often times are unrealistic
expectations damaging to the character of the individual, which the media has placed for everyone to
emulate. The purpose of the media is to sell their products using models with good looks to entice the

Turbo Code is Formed from the Parallel Concatenation of...
The first turbo code, based on convolutional encoding, was introduced in 1993 by Berrou etal. Since
then, several schemes have been proposed and the term turbo codes has been generalized to cover
block codes as well as convolutional codes. Simply put, a turbo code is formed from the parallel
concatenation of two codes separated by an interleaver. The turbo principle is a general way of
processing data in receivers so that no information is wasted. This technique corresponds to an
iterative exchange of soft information between different blocks in a communications receiver in order
to improve overall system performance. It has opened up a new way of thinking in the construction of
communication algorithms. This method was introduced in a system of error control for data
transmission, called turbo code. This family of Forward Error Codes (FEC) consists of two key design
innovations: concatenated encoding and iterative decoding.
The turbo principle has been extended into new receiver topologies such as turbo detection, turbo
equalization, turbo coded modulation, turbo MIMO, etc. In the case of transmission systems with
interference, such an iterative receiver, known as turbo equalizer or turbo detector achieves significant
gains in BER performance, compared with a non iterative scheme. However, the design of high
throughput, low complexity and low latency architectures for a receiver that contains an iterative
process is a great challenge.

Food Assistance Program Essay
Introductory Summary
Today the majority of our farm bill is dedicated to food assistance programs. In 2013 through the
Supplemental Nutrition Assistance program (SNAP) the U.S fed 47.6 million citizens at the cost of
76.4 billion. Another food assistance program called WIC has fed 9 million woman, infants, and
children at the price of 7 billion. The American government is doing a tremendous job at feeding the
less fortunate through these programs but like many programs they need to be improved. Through the
SNAP program participants are able to spend taxpayer money on sugar filled soft drinks and candy.
The new bill that is being prepared will limit the purchase of these unnecessary products. This bill will
restrict participants to simple food staples such as bread, beans, fruit, vegetables and rice. The new bill
will also add white potatoes to the WIC program. These changes that need to be made will contribute
in boosting the demand of multiple commodities and help eliminate unneeded aid to unhealthy foods.

Rice is one of the commodities that will benefit from the passing of this bill. In the short run the
demand, price, and quantity sold of rice will rise. In the long run things are a little different, since the
quantity supplied by farmers will increase the demand for this commodity will fall. This decrease in
demand will lower the price of rice back to the original equilibrium price. In the short and long run the
quantity of rice will increase not only helping the American farmer but also helping participants of the
SNAP program eat healthy. (See figure

Comparing My Poetry And Alfred Lord Tennyson
What makes a poet great? What is it that makes their poetry weather the ravenous jaws of critics and
stand the test of time? I ask myself this as I look at my own poetry, wondering if it too could withstand
the harsh beatings many a poet s work has been through. I wonder if I could measure up to one of the
greats, which is why I have chosen to compare and contrast my works and style of poetry with that of
the famous Alfred Lord Tennyson. I would like to show how our styles, themes, and poetic influences
differ from while showing a few similar traits they have. To start off I will compare Tennyson s poem
Tears, Idle Tears to my poem Monday Morning, Sunday Mourning. The main themes of both poems
are about reminiscing about events that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These sentences often don t follow any specific meter, if they do it is most likely by accident. The
rhyme is more often than not end rhyme. I write the poems to tell a story, but I don t want it to be
completely free verse which is where the end rhyme comes in. I don t usually have any concrete
rhyme scheme so that way I can reach a more diverse range of content without having to worry about
not having words to rhyme. Tennyson s however was very gifted at understanding rhyme and meter,
which allowed him to use many different styles when writing his poems. In some poems Tennyson
would use a simple style while in others he would employ a more complex style to increase the depth
of the poem. Furthermore, Tennyson s time period influenced his poetry heavily as well. During this
time there were a lot of scientific advancements were occurring. Theses advancements however
clashed with some religious beliefs. Tennyson s poetry allowed him to navigate the rift that had been
created between scientific advancement and religion. Tennyson was also influenced by the other major
events of the time, which allowed his poems to be relevant all the while they could still be applicable
for years to come. It was these influences that allowed Tennyson to craft his most famous works such
as Ulysses, The Charge of the Light Brigade, In Memoriam A.H.H., The Lady of Shallot, and many
more,. Tennyson was also heavily influenced by

joining the X Men? Sheridan reveals it has a lot to do with Cyclops brother Alex Summers aka Havok
(Lucas Till)! Sheridan recently spoke to Den of Geek, where he talked about taking on the role that
was originally played by Enchanted actor James Marsden. It s such an honor to play a younger version
of James Marsden and it s going to be hard to live up to what he created in the X Men universe,
Sheridan said before explaining that Apocalypse will explore the backstory of several characters. What

it doesn t exactly have to sync up with where we last saw these characters chronologically and who
they are to us now, he said. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

although considered rough country it is known as a temperate climate which is good for farming.
Therefore equally distributed rainfall throughout the farming season also produces abundant and
healthy pastures for grazing the local animals. Because of the excellent farming conditions it is also an

Georgia s Traffic Congestion Issue and the Solution
Globally, numerous urban cities such as New York City and London have the issue of traffic
congestion, and in the United States, Los Angeles and New York City take the top title of the worst
traffic jams (Bekiempis). Even though traffic congestion ratings may not indicate how much air
pollution in an area, most times, traffic congestion does communicate the approximate degree air
pollution lies at. Atlanta does have an honorable or rather, notorious mention of daily traffic
congestion, even though Atlanta s traffic may not live up to the scale of that of New York City. The
quality of air in the Atlanta metropolitan area can also play a testament to how far traffic congestion

Effects of Economic Globalization and Integration
Economic globalization and economic integration have long been thought to reduce the probability of
conflict and war based on neoliberal institutionalist theory, complex interdependence theory, and
World Systems theory. At first thought, it is plausible why one might agree with the claim. Yet the
claim itself cannot procure such black and white answers when it combines conflict and war; two
separate terms. Political scientists have long been in conversation with one another on the topic, from
the writings of Peter Evans in 1989 to Nancy Bermeo in 2009. For this essay, conflict will be
examined as a socio economic conflict internal and external to a nation, and war will be examined as a
military backed conflict at an international level. When viewed this way, it will be made clear why the
response lies in 50 shades of grey and more .
The socio economic inequality that arises from nations desiring to become economically globalized
and economic integrated is huge source of conflict both internally and externally. To put substance to
this claim, one must examine the historical context of major world economies between 1918 and 1971.
During the interwar years (1918 1945) in which global economies experienced The Great Depression,
policies of protectionism created isolation, and the competitive devaluation of currency in the global
markets continued to drive market prices down. Although competitive devaluation increased net
exports, producers felt the effects of stagflation

Although the oven only holds one tray per time, it takes 6 minutes to washing and mixing steps. So we
still need 3 trays to be well prepare. The bottleneck operation would be the speed of operation, which
is time you spend in preparing and baking. The speed with which you can produce cookies depends on
the cycle time of baking. If we can rent another oven, it will increase our efficiency in order to make
more cookies with lower cost. Because mixer can mix ingredients for up to three dozens cookies, each
oven can hold a tray per time. This change would give us solution for production constraints. After
increasing capacity of oven, it will make us start our new orders every 5 minutes and 7.5 dozens per
hour. So we are willing to pay $200 $300 to rent an extra oven. If we choose to run business without
Kristen, her time for one dozen cookies becomes 12 minutes. It will become the labor bottleneck. If
the order contains two dozens or more, Kristen s time for this order becomes 17 minutes and 22

A Research Study On Lesbian Families And Lesbian Survivors...
Research Question
The following is my preliminary research question. In Ottawa Ontario, what are the resources or
services that are available to and for lesbian survivors of intimate partner violence, and how do
women that have contacted these resources feel about the adequacy of the services they were offered?
Research Statement
Reflecting on the path my answer might take, it is possible that the resources and services available in
Ottawa reflect a heteronormative belief about society. Put another way; the services could reproduce
the erasure of lesbian experiences of partner violence. In this sense, the experience of heterosexual
women and lesbian women could be conflated, and all women offered the same services. That being
said, lesbian women may not have their needs met in a way that is concrete or meaningful.
Consequently, it is necessary for service and resources that respond to intimate partner violence to
offer services outside of a heterosexual lens to better meet the needs of lesbian survivors.
I believe that my argument matters because lesbian survivors of intimate partner violence deserve the
recognition that their experiences matter. Moreover, the erasure of the lesbian experience in available
services could be viewed as an extension of violence itself. Therefore, my argument matters because
lesbian survivors of partner violence matter. A challenge that could be put forth is that female
survivors of violence have similar experiences based on the fact that they

I. Introduction
In light of the AUSFTA, Australia has significantly amended its copyright legislation to be more in
line with American copyright law. However, Australia has yet to adopt American style fair use
doctrine. In Australia, an otherwise infringing use of copyright material can only be fair if the dealing
was for one of five specified purposes. American fair use doctrine, in comparison, is more open ended
and not limited to a set of specific purposes. Rather, a test consisting of four non exhaustive factors is
applied on a case by case basis for determining whether an impugned use is fair . The first of the
fairness factors is the purpose and character of the use which essentially concerns whether the use is

Inductive Argument
In the first part of the assignment we were asked to identify components of arguments, premise and
conclusion, for the passages. Where applicable we are to highlight key words or phrases that identify a
claim as a premise or a conclusion. A premise is the support for the conclusion. (Missimer, 2005) The
first example has several premises as follows if Sue s baby is a boy it will be named Mark and if it is a
girl it will be named Margaret. Another premise is that Sue will have a boy or girl. So is a keyword
indicating the conclusion that Sue s baby will be named Mark or Margaret. In the next example,
because is a keyword in the premise and indicates that the conclusion has preceded and a reason will
follow. This premise is that fantasy ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the last part of the assignment we are asked to identify the arguments as inductive or deductive. An
argument is said to be deductive if its conclusion is claimed to necessarily follow the premise. An
inductive argument claims only that its conclusion probably follows from its premises. That is, the
inferential claim is that since the premises are true or acceptable, the conclusion is likely to be true or
acceptable. (Missimer, 2005) The first and second examples are inductive because even though the
premises may be true, it is still possible for the conclusion to be false. They will then have to be
looked at to see if they are strong or weak and if all premises are true or if one or more is false. We can
then determine if the argument is reliable or unreliable. The third example is a deductive argument if
we go by the definition above. If the premises are true then it simply isn t possible for the conclusion
to be false. If you have a deductive argument and you accept the truth of the premises, then you must
also accept the truth of the conclusion; if you deny it, then you are denying logic

Kyoto Protocol And The Protocol
As a basic description the Kyoto Protocol is a document, which legally binds all member countries
that are classified as developed to meet specific emission reduction targets. The protocol brings with it
several Commitment periods , which as the name suggests are periods of time by which member states
are bound to the protocol. The initial commitment period began in 2008 and ceased in 2012. The next
began in 2013 and will end in 2020. Currently there are 192 member states to the protocol. It has been
determined that developed countries are primarily responsible for the current elevated levels of
Greenhouse gases (GHG). The Kyoto Protocol puts heavier goals on the developed countries based on
the idea of differentiated but common responsibilities. The Protocol dictates that there are six primary
Greenhouse gases identified as contributing the most harm to the natural environment, these being:
Methane, Carbon Dioxide, Nitrous Oxide, Hydro fluorocarbons, Per fluorocarbons and Sulfur
Hexafluoride (U.S. EPA, N.D.)
Each nation has their own individual targets. The average target was a cut of roughly 5%, in
comparison to the levels in the atmosphere in 1990 and 2012 (The Guardian, 2012). Some countries
have a different approach to the protocol than others. An example of this is the United States, which is
yet to ratify the protocol and also happens to be the second largest total emitter (second to China) and
largest emitter per capita of greenhouse gases in the world (M.

Texas Legislature Philosophy
In the United States of America, the Republican Party is the party that promotes limited government
involvement when it comes to the business aspects of government; however, when it comes to an
individual s personal life, rights and beliefs, the Republican Party s philosophy of limited government
is hypocritical in some aspects. Nevertheless, in the business world, Texas Legislature philosophy
advocates for the civil liberties of its people, believing that everyone deserves the opportunity to excel
in their State with limited government interference. Furthermore, Texas Legislature philosophy
advocates limited government that works on an as needed basis. Case in point, the Texas Legislature
functions under a biennial system that last 140 days

President Franklin D. Roosevelt
President Franklin D. Roosevelt, arguably one of the most famous Presidents because of his work
during such a difficult time took office in 1933. Roosevelt came into office with a bold plan and acted
on it swiftly, providing jobs and relief for those in need. Over the next eight years, the government
instituted a series of experimental projects and programs, known collectively as the New Deal, that
aimed to restore some measure of dignity and prosperity to many Americans. More than that,
Roosevelt s New Deal permanently changed the federal government s relationship to the U.S.
populace. The New Deal consisted of a number of government funded programs. For my purpose
though, I want to focus on the Bank Act of 1933. The Bill was sponsored by Sen. Carter Glass (D VA)
and Rep. Henry Steagall (D AL) and signed into law by Roosevelt in 1933. This policy change set up
the banking industry for a successful recovery and a strong future. The Bank Act of 1933 contained
many goals. One of the most crucial successes of this law was that commercial banking and
investment banking were now completely separate. This interaction had been a problem due to overlap
in business practices that weren t morally right. Another system of value that came from this act was
the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation or FDIC, as many of us know it today. What the FDIC does
is insure deposits up to a certain amount. This was great for the clients of the bank and brought back a
sense of security among the

Abstract In this paper two set of edge texture features is proposed such as Discriminative Robust
Local Binary Pattern (DRLBP) and Discriminative Robust Local Ternary Pattern (DRLTP) for object
recognition. The proposed DLBP and DRLTP are derived from the drawback of the Local Binary
Pattern (LBP), Local Ternary Pattern (LTP) and Robust LBP (RLBP).The LBP code and the RLBP
code are mapped in the same block .The proposed feature solves the problem of discrimination
between a bright object against dark background and vice versa. The proposed feature retains contrast
information for representation of object contours the LBP, LTP and RLBP discards. By this proposed
features the objects in the image can be further analyzed for the exact location of the object in the
given image.

Postpartum Depression On The Mother And Parenting
For this research paper, I decided to focus on postpartum depression. While being a listening ear, I was
introduced to the reality that not every mother has the attachment to her child that almost every movie
in Hollywood portrays. After hearing the story and not sure if it was a real thing, I began to search the
web for information, stories, and news coverage related to the rarely discussed category of depressed
known as Postpartum Depression (PPD). I wanted to find solid proof that this was an actual diagnosis
and what the long term effects would be, as well as what was being done to reduce the amount of
women that suffer from this. This research should allow me to better understand the causes and effects

Problems such as breastfeeding, marital or relationship issues, feeling inadequate, and not having the
social support can all add to the stress factors that could potentially lead and contribute to postpartum
depression (Postpartum Depression, 357). Primary Care Physicians are ultimately more likely to make
the diagnosis of PPD over their obstetrician since they usually have a more solid foundation and trust
built up after being seen there more frequently. A test is given to women around eight to twelve weeks
postpartum in order to determine the likelihood of postpartum depression and overall health of the
mother (Postpartum Depression, 358 359). Another scholarly journal I found was Disorganized
attachment in early childhood: Meta analysis of precursors, concomitants, and sequelae by Marinus H
van Ijzendoorn, Carlo Schuengel, and Marian J. Bakermans Kranenburg published by Cambridge
University. The journal describes how a mother s postpartum depression affects the mental
development of the child as well as their own attachment issues that can result in educational delays as
well as behavioral issues (Development and Psychopathology, 228). Children develop attachments
with anyone who gives them steady care, disregarding the quality of that care. The effect on infants
whose mother went through postpartum depression (PPD) can impact the development and quality of
life that child will have (Child Development, Feb 1993). A long term effect

Two Major Themes In Poetic Realism
Isolation and fatalism are two major themes in this film. the main characters are trapped and they try
hard to escape the current situations. The army deserter heading for the port of Le Havre, Jean is on
the run from a society run by a criminal underworld. His solitary figure associates with the fog in the
opening shot of the film. What he faces was fatal since he had no choices. He could only run away;
otherwise, his life would be in danger. A 17 year old abused girl, Nelly who is trapped by her
godfather, Zabel tries to run away from him. In the beginning of the film, Jean and Nelly are used to
be isolated by the society. Both are not connected with other people. It is not surprising that they want

Zabel is a respectable businessman who loves religious music and the finer. However, there is a
shameful and jealous heart hides in his body that he lusts for his goddaughter Nelly. This is a rather
immoral theme shown in Quai des brumes. Moreover, Poetic Realism films focus on working class
characters and the theme of doomed love, which is the blending of comedy and tragedy. Compared to
Naturalism, poetic realism had a more romantic, idealistic, mysterious character.(Linda Nochlin,
Realism) It shows that the characters in Poetic Realism are usually marginal characters in the society.
Jean undoubtedly represents the marginal characters in the society. He carries a national identity,
which is the army in 1930s and represents the lower class in the society. When he meets the beautiful
girl, Nelly, these two fall in love immediately and passionately.Nelly says. They have real happiness
and the love is shared, but in this film s bleak world it is inevitably going to be dearly bought.
Therefore, their love is romantic but at the same time, it is also a tragic. The only way Jean can be
with Nelly is if he deals with the corrupt men that are causing troubles for her. Unfortunately, it turns
out to be a tragic end for the

Such colonies had passed legislation that inhibited the African slaves from practicing entitlements
such as freedom of association and movement.
The middle colonies like New York, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania also had laws that encouraged the
slave trade and robbed the African slaves of their fundamental rights. Such laws were
structuredspecifically for the African slaves. For instance, in New York, a slave discovered 40 miles
North of Albany was considered to be fleeing to Canada and could be killedif two witnesses could

Slavery within the other regions was not widespread because landowners practiced small scale
agriculture; hence, they did not require the slaves plus some settlers in the rural areas of the middle
colonies were against the moral oppression of the slaves. In contrast, none of the above conditions
prevailed in the Southern colonies.
In 1733, Georgia became a slavery free English colony; however, the injunction of slavery

Celebrity Culture and Influence on Drug Use
Over time the transformation of celebrity culture and branding has become a way that society interacts

their lifestyle is a world that is constantly shown in magazines, television, and social media. The state
of being well known attracts endorsers that then brand celebrities with an image to sell a certain along

on the various ways celebrity culture and drug usage go hand and hand to promote casual drug use as
a normalized life style. Aside from doing so, I will also list negative and positive outcomes that arise
from celebrity drug usage, addiction, and sadly sometimes death.

The Importance Of Economic Inequality
However, economic inequality is not a new concept. Miles Corak points out in his 2012 essay the
importance of understanding the dynamics of inequality over multiple generations and how this shapes
current and future inequality. Corak highlights the disconnect in American society between believing
one has equality of opportunity, and as a result, social mobility and capital, versus actually having
access to economic opportunity greater than that of one s parents. The interactions between the family,
the market, and the state are important in comprehending the degree of intergenerational mobility in
the U.S. and why children are likely to end up in their parents income brackets. In particular, the
United States stands out as being one of the least generationally mobile among rich countries, while
inequality is both the outcome and cause of the degree to which economic status is passed between
generations. In recent decades, the stagnation in earnings for the bottom percent suggests that
intergenerational mobility in unlikely to increase as in the labor market, where inequality translates to
political power that determines the extent to which progressive reforms can be made to public policy.
For example, top percentage communities, who gain political power as a result of our market
economy, are unlikely to aid lower income communities in quality of schooling and health care, and
therefore lower income communities have less social capital and opportunity to bridge

which include baptism and confirmation. Most Catholics who attend the Roman Catholic Church

Free will is the power of making free choices unconstrained by external agencies. For the Catholics
this statement is good for them as they are free to do good or evil. But for Protestants, this is not the

chooses what will happen to you in life and what happens to you in the after life. Catholics believe
that your predestination is based on God s foreknowledge of you and your actions while Protestants
believe that your predestination is related to God s decrees. The interpretation of the Bible is different
as the Catholic interpretation includes apocrypha which are books of the Bible that are added in to the
Old Testament. While Protestants omit these 14 books of the Bible. These are just a few differences
between the Protestants and the beliefs of the Roman Catholic Church. Marriage is accepted in both
religions and shows the unity of two people and shows their beliefs and sacrifices for God. Divorce on

The View and Interpretation of the Term Genre
Discuss what we understand by the term genre and how it relates to the way we view and interpret
films
The way in which we, as an audience, view and interpret films can be seen to relate directly to our
understanding of genre . However, what is genre? Drawing on the knowledge of key theorists and
critics such as Steve Neale and Barry Langford this essay will first attempt to define genre and our
understanding of it before focusing on how genre relates to the audiences view and interpretation of
films. It will also touch upon the historical contexts of genre, and how genre helps the film industry
create films and their interpretation of film. An interpretation that differs in a number of ways to that
of an audience s due to their goals being different thanks to the ways they view film. Before we can
begin to delve into how genre relates to the way we as an audience view and interpret films, we must
first attempt to define and understand what the term genre means when relating it to the film industry,
in particular Hollywood.
Genre is a simple French word meaning type and therefore when taking this simple, direct approach
we can see genre as a type of film or films such as a comedy , which has the association, in many
cases, with humour. However, this approach generates large conflicting ideals within set genres . It
provides the understanding that genre has fixed boundaries that cannot be pushed to allow for
flexibility in a films direction. An example of this can

Theme Of Honor In Chronicle Of A Death Foretold
IB English A: Literature HL
Written Assignment
Word Count: 1,277 An Investigation into Honor in Chronicle of a Death Foretold
According to Epic World History, Latin American men consider honor both a prized personal
possession and a crucially important expression of one s public self ( Epic World History ). To lose
one s honor was to become low and tarnished in society s eyes. Chronicle of a Death Foretold tells a
story of horrific murder driven by the loss of honor through a journalistic view. In the novella,
Chronicle of a Death Foretold, through the actions and thoughts of the Vicario brothers and
townspeople, Gabriel GarcĂa Marquez highlights the absurdity of the code of honor and critiques the
flaws in Latin American society.
With the defensive actions of the Vicario brothers, Marquez scrutinizes how Latin American society
uses the code of honor as a justification for vengeful acts. Following the crime, the Vicario brothers
speak on trial, defending their innocence: It was a matter of honour (29). Marquez uses the self
justifying tone of the phrase matter of honor to criticize that within Latin American society, people do
not falter to commit such heinous crimes, and perceive such acts as ways to regain honor. The Vicario
brother s justification of homicide therefore reflects the society s twisted perception of honor. The
Vicario s brother s self reassurance is also conveyed through the numerous times they announced, We
are going to kill Santiago Nasar

acquisition is not handled delicately. This is a new area of business and much has to be done to ensure
a smooth transition and to make a profit from doing so.
Smucker s accusation of Jif and Crisco would allow Smucker s to increase consumer consumption of
different products owned by the Smucker Company. The acquisition took place in 2002 and the New
Smucker Company profited greatly in 2003. Revenues had improved 87% from the previous year
from $342.6 million to $641.9 million . It was found Jif and Crisco contributed upwards to $260.4
million to the company while the other income came from increases in revenue from all the original
products offered from Smucker. The only disappointing product was a 2% sales decline for Crisco

ocean floor and it has a rich ecosystem that varies and the highest mountain in the Islands of Hawaii.
Since 1963, telescopes were built on this sacred mountain where astronomers scientists from various
parts of the world partnered to take advantage of this opportunity. Today s problem of this Thirty
Meter Telescope (TMT) that was planned in the year of 2012 with the intentions of having the world s
largest telescope to be built on Maunakea has caused physical, political, religion, and land issues that
concerned the Hawaiian people why this telescope shouldn t be built on this sacred mountain. A
pragmatic model of this Thirty Meter Telescope (TMT) will stand in height approximately at 164 feet
high (50 meters tall) and 180 feet in (80 meters ) because of this huge telescope may be a problem for
the ecosystem pristine mountain. The Hawaiian people of the island of Hawaii believe in their culture,
religion, and physically caring for the land of their ancestors has protested to stop the Thirty Meter
Telescope (TMT) because of the environment and land has been desecrated. The sacredness of Mauna

Explosion Of Crime In America
The scholarly evidence, in short, suggests that at the heart of the explosion of crime in America is the
loss of the capacity of fathers and mothers to be responsible in caring for the children they bring into
the world. Congress assume the high level of crime in America have its roots in poor employment
opportunities and a shortage of adequately funded social program This is one issue that we have to
take a look at and address. These shortcomings can be fix if we work together. While doing this
research I learn that children as young as 6 or 7 are carted off in handcuffs, locked up and saddled
with permanent criminal records. Trayvon McRae was one of the those 6 years old. After throwing a

Iso 900
Introduction In order to stay competitive, businesses have to be the best at what they do. Company s
must be efficient and presise in all aspects of the job. (Metcalfe 1). ISO 9000 is made up of
management s responsibility, the producers involved in the Quality Management System, the contract
review, the design control, document and data control, purchasing, process control, inspection and
testing, control of non conforming product, corrective action, handling, storage, packaging and
delivery, internal quality audits, training, servicing and statistical techniques (Prasanna 1). Quality
control and quality assurance is very important there are certain requirements that take time and
money to be met but in the end there are benefits. Types ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Planning, training, setting and achieving goals are all key to improvement or success of a business
(Henkoff 5). ISO 9000 makes sure a company is doing what it says it is doing and helps them do it.
However, that doesn t mean it is running the company and telling it what to do (USAToday 1). The
business is still an independent business it is just getting advice on how to manufacture things and
earning a certificate that is appealing to customers. However, that also doesn t mean that ISO 9000
promises the quality of a company s product will be great; Richard Buerow, director of corporate
quality at Motorola states: With ISO 900 you can still have terrible processes and products. You can
certify a manufacturer that makes life jackets from concrete, as long as those jackets are made
according to the documented procedures and the company provides the next of kin with instructions
on how to complain about defects. That s absurd (Henkoff 3). Its steps and procedures will help a
manufacturer s product become better produced. ISO 9001, 2 3 ISO 9000 is divided into three equally
ranked quality systems which a business can chooses by what quality system will cover their business
process (iso online). ISO 9001 is for a business whose processes range from design and development,
to production, installation and servicing. ISO 9002 is for a business that does not carry out design and
development but anything else that is under ISO 9001. ISO

The Regeneration Of Ancoats And Castlefield
COMPARATIVE RESEARCH? STUDY OF THE REGENERATION OF ANCOATS AND
CASTLEFIELD. HISTORY
Ancoats: the memory traces of an abandoned set of futures
Castlefield: reborn as restored memorials to past industrial prowess
Urban history, as a tool, has drastically changed our understanding of cities over the centuries. Urban
histories possessed an explanatory power far above the intricate workings of one city; providing larger
narratives centered on industrialization or other macro economic developments .
Throughout the past 250 years, the world has seen drastic technological advances, the pivotal point in
the history and growth of the world being the Industrial Revolution. Yet rarely does the average person
realise the impacts of the Industrial Revolution on civilisation.
Cities stand at the center of major civilizations, and their organization and structure compose a vital
part of human history (quote by). Ancoats and Castlefield were vital in the Industrial Revolution, not
just for Manchester, but also for the rest of the world.
Both were formed through social, political and economic events. Their urban history allows us to pin
point the driving forces that made the two areas so important. Cities across generations have left
indelible marks on the physical landscape and by their very centralizing nature played essential roles
in the organization of major civilizations, Today, Ancoats and Castlefield are each undergoing a
complex regeneration, battling with their

  • 2. Christopher Wren Research Paper Christopher Wren can be called the largest phenomena of English architecture of the period of the second half of 17th century and beginning of 18th century. His life is free from the rebellious quest of the previous generation and to the brim is filled with often very bold, but sure and planned development of what has been achieved in the field of exact sciences and then architecture. Fine arts, literature and, in general, the humanities, apparently did not fascinate him. The son of the abbot of Windsor Abbey and the nephew of the bishop, and hence the representative of the privileged social stratum, with its settled way of life and influential connections, Christopher received a brilliant education at that time and early surrendered to scientific interests, discovering, like many ... He developed many inventions, including construction mechanisms, and later became one of the founders and first presidents of the Royal Society created in 1660. However, Wren went down in history, first of all, as the most outstanding architect of his country. To the architecture of Wren turned relatively late, in the thirty third year of life, and then after repeated insistence of influential customers. This in itself testifies to a new attitude to architecture, perceived by that time as an activity requiring deep, diverse knowledge and a broad outlook. And one of the turning point in his life, which led to appeal to architecture, was the Great Fire of London in 1666. Wren creates a project for a radical redevelopment of the city, rejected, however, by the reactionary authorities. At the same time, Wren received the order for the construction his the most monumental structure of the St. Paul s Cathedral in London and rebuilding burned churches, of which he built more than ... The stadium s urban interaction with its surroundings imposes a literature of urban design that suggests architecture and urban design are experiencing a rise in significance in a globalizing activity and economy as cities increasingly compete for community and tourists (Humphreys, Howard, 2008). • 9. Turbo Code is Formed from the Parallel Concatenation of... The first turbo code, based on convolutional encoding, was introduced in 1993 by Berrou etal. Since then, several schemes have been proposed and the term turbo codes has been generalized to cover block codes as well as convolutional codes. Simply put, a turbo code is formed from the parallel concatenation of two codes separated by an interleaver. The turbo principle is a general way of processing data in receivers so that no information is wasted. This technique corresponds to an iterative exchange of soft information between different blocks in a communications receiver in order to improve overall system performance. It has opened up a new way of thinking in the construction of communication algorithms. This method was introduced in a system of error control for data transmission, called turbo code. This family of Forward Error Codes (FEC) consists of two key design innovations: concatenated encoding and iterative decoding. The turbo principle has been extended into new receiver topologies such as turbo detection, turbo equalization, turbo coded modulation, turbo MIMO, etc. In the case of transmission systems with interference, such an iterative receiver, known as turbo equalizer or turbo detector achieves significant gains in BER performance, compared with a non iterative scheme. However, the design of high throughput, low complexity and low latency architectures for a receiver that contains an iterative process is a great challenge. The Orthogonal Frequency Division ... Another food assistance program called WIC has fed 9 million woman, infants, and children at the price of 7 billion. • 12. Comparing My Poetry And Alfred Lord Tennyson What makes a poet great? What is it that makes their poetry weather the ravenous jaws of critics and stand the test of time? I ask myself this as I look at my own poetry, wondering if it too could withstand the harsh beatings many a poet s work has been through. I wonder if I could measure up to one of the greats, which is why I have chosen to compare and contrast my works and style of poetry with that of the famous Alfred Lord Tennyson. I would like to show how our styles, themes, and poetic influences differ from while showing a few similar traits they have. To start off I will compare Tennyson s poem Tears, Idle Tears to my poem Monday Morning, Sunday Mourning. The main themes of both poems are about reminiscing about events that ... Tennyson s however was very gifted at understanding rhyme and meter, which allowed him to use many different styles when writing his poems. In some poems Tennyson would use a simple style while in others he would employ a more complex style to increase the depth of the poem. Furthermore, Tennyson s time period influenced his poetry heavily as well. During this time there were a lot of scientific advancements were occurring. Theses advancements however clashed with some religious beliefs. Tennyson s poetry allowed him to navigate the rift that had been created between scientific advancement and religion. • 16. Effects of Economic Globalization and Integration Economic globalization and economic integration have long been thought to reduce the probability of conflict and war based on neoliberal institutionalist theory, complex interdependence theory, and World Systems theory. At first thought, it is plausible why one might agree with the claim. Yet the claim itself cannot procure such black and white answers when it combines conflict and war; two separate terms. Political scientists have long been in conversation with one another on the topic, from the writings of Peter Evans in 1989 to Nancy Bermeo in 2009. For this essay, conflict will be examined as a socio economic conflict internal and external to a nation, and war will be examined as a military backed conflict at an international level. When viewed this way, it will be made clear why the response lies in 50 shades of grey and more . The socio economic inequality that arises from nations desiring to become economically globalized and economic integrated is huge source of conflict both internally and externally. To put substance to this claim, one must examine the historical context of major world economies between 1918 and 1971. During the interwar years (1918 1945) in which global economies experienced The Great Depression, policies of protectionism created isolation, and the competitive devaluation of currency in the global markets continued to drive market prices down. • 20. A Research Study On Lesbian Families And Lesbian Survivors... Research Question The following is my preliminary research question. In Ottawa Ontario, what are the resources or services that are available to and for lesbian survivors of intimate partner violence, and how do women that have contacted these resources feel about the adequacy of the services they were offered? Research Statement Reflecting on the path my answer might take, it is possible that the resources and services available in Ottawa reflect a heteronormative belief about society. Put another way; the services could reproduce the erasure of lesbian experiences of partner violence. In this sense, the experience of heterosexual women and lesbian women could be conflated, and all women offered the same services. That being said, lesbian women may not have their needs met in a way that is concrete or meaningful. Consequently, it is necessary for service and resources that respond to intimate partner violence to offer services outside of a heterosexual lens to better meet the needs of lesbian survivors. I believe that my argument matters because lesbian survivors of intimate partner violence deserve the recognition that their experiences matter. Moreover, the erasure of the lesbian experience in available services could be viewed as an extension of violence itself. Therefore, my argument matters because lesbian survivors of partner violence matter. A challenge that could be put forth is that female survivors of violence have similar experiences based on the fact that they ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

However, Australia has yet to adopt American style fair use doctrine. In Australia, an otherwise infringing use of copyright material can only be fair if the dealing was for one of five specified purposes. American fair use doctrine, in comparison, is more open ended and not limited to a set of specific purposes. Rather, a test consisting of four non exhaustive factors is applied on a case by case basis for determining whether an impugned use is fair . The first of the fairness factors is the purpose and character of the use which essentially concerns whether the use is transformative. The definition used by the Australian Law Reform Commission (ALRC) is the use of pre existing works to create something new, that is not merely a substitute for the pre existing work. In some analyses, whether a use is transformative has become the key question in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 22. Inductive Argument In the first part of the assignment we were asked to identify components of arguments, premise and conclusion, for the passages. Where applicable we are to highlight key words or phrases that identify a claim as a premise or a conclusion. A premise is the support for the conclusion. (Missimer, 2005) The first example has several premises as follows if Sue s baby is a boy it will be named Mark and if it is a girl it will be named Margaret. Another premise is that Sue will have a boy or girl. So is a keyword indicating the conclusion that Sue s baby will be named Mark or Margaret. In the next example, because is a keyword in the premise and indicates that the conclusion has preceded and a reason will follow. This premise is that fantasy ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In the last part of the assignment we are asked to identify the arguments as inductive or deductive. An argument is said to be deductive if its conclusion is claimed to necessarily follow the premise. An inductive argument claims only that its conclusion probably follows from its premises. That is, the inferential claim is that since the premises are true or acceptable, the conclusion is likely to be true or acceptable. (Missimer, 2005) The first and second examples are inductive because even though the premises may be true, it is still possible for the conclusion to be false. They will then have to be looked at to see if they are strong or weak and if all premises are true or if one or more is false. We can then determine if the argument is reliable or unreliable. The third example is a deductive argument if we go by the definition above. If the premises are true then it simply isn t possible for the conclusion to be false. If you have a deductive argument and you accept the truth of the premises, then you must also accept the truth of the conclusion; if you deny it, then you are denying logic ... • 23. Kyoto Protocol And The Protocol As a basic description the Kyoto Protocol is a document, which legally binds all member countries that are classified as developed to meet specific emission reduction targets. The protocol brings with it several Commitment periods , which as the name suggests are periods of time by which member states are bound to the protocol. The initial commitment period began in 2008 and ceased in 2012. The next began in 2013 and will end in 2020. Currently there are 192 member states to the protocol. It has been determined that developed countries are primarily responsible for the current elevated levels of Greenhouse gases (GHG). The Kyoto Protocol puts heavier goals on the developed countries based on the idea of differentiated but common responsibilities. The Protocol dictates that there are six primary Greenhouse gases identified as contributing the most harm to the natural environment, these being: Methane, Carbon Dioxide, Nitrous Oxide, Hydro fluorocarbons, Per fluorocarbons and Sulfur Hexafluoride (U.S. EPA, N.D.) Each nation has their own individual targets. The average target was a cut of roughly 5%, in comparison to the levels in the atmosphere in 1990 and 2012 (The Guardian, 2012). Some countries have a different approach to the protocol than others. An example of this is the United States, which is yet to ratify the protocol and also happens to be the second largest total emitter (second to China) and largest emitter per capita of greenhouse gases in the world (M. ... Roosevelt came into office with a bold plan and acted on it swiftly, providing jobs and relief for those in need. Over the next eight years, the government instituted a series of experimental projects and programs, known collectively as the New Deal, that aimed to restore some measure of dignity and prosperity to many Americans. More than that, Roosevelt s New Deal permanently changed the federal government s relationship to the U.S. populace. The New Deal consisted of a number of government funded programs. For my purpose though, I want to focus on the Bank Act of 1933. The Bill was sponsored by Sen. Carter Glass (D VA) and Rep. Henry Steagall (D AL) and signed into law by Roosevelt in 1933. This policy change set up the banking industry for a successful recovery and a strong future. The Bank Act of 1933 contained many goals. One of the most crucial successes of this law was that commercial banking and investment banking were now completely separate. This interaction had been a problem due to overlap in business practices that weren t morally right. Another system of value that came from this act was the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation or FDIC, as many of us know it today. What the FDIC does is insure deposits up to a certain amount. Problems such as breastfeeding, marital or relationship issues, feeling inadequate, and not having the social support can all add to the stress factors that could potentially lead and contribute to postpartum depression (Postpartum Depression, 357). Primary Care Physicians are ultimately more likely to make the diagnosis of PPD over their obstetrician since they usually have a more solid foundation and trust built up after being seen there more frequently. A test is given to women around eight to twelve weeks postpartum in order to determine the likelihood of postpartum depression and overall health of the mother (Postpartum Depression, 358 359). Another scholarly journal I found was Disorganized attachment in early childhood: Meta analysis of precursors, concomitants, and sequelae by Marinus H van Ijzendoorn, Carlo Schuengel, and Marian J. Bakermans Kranenburg published by Cambridge University. The journal describes how a mother s postpartum depression affects the mental development of the child as well as their own attachment issues that can result in educational delays as well as behavioral issues (Development and Psychopathology, 228). Children develop attachments with anyone who gives them steady care, disregarding the quality of that care. The effect on infants whose mother went through postpartum depression (PPD) can impact the development and quality of life that child will have (Child Development, Feb 1993). A long term effect ... • 36. The Importance Of Economic Inequality However, economic inequality is not a new concept. Miles Corak points out in his 2012 essay the importance of understanding the dynamics of inequality over multiple generations and how this shapes current and future inequality. Corak highlights the disconnect in American society between believing one has equality of opportunity, and as a result, social mobility and capital, versus actually having access to economic opportunity greater than that of one s parents. The interactions between the family, the market, and the state are important in comprehending the degree of intergenerational mobility in the U.S. and why children are likely to end up in their parents income brackets. In particular, the United States stands out as being one of the least generationally mobile among rich countries, while inequality is both the outcome and cause of the degree to which economic status is passed between generations. In recent decades, the stagnation in earnings for the bottom percent suggests that intergenerational mobility in unlikely to increase as in the labor market, where inequality translates to political power that determines the extent to which progressive reforms can be made to public policy. For example, top percentage communities, who gain political power as a result of our market economy, are unlikely to aid lower income communities in quality of schooling and health care, and therefore lower income communities have less social capital and opportunity to bridge ... The View and Interpretation of the Term Genre Discuss what we understand by the term genre and how it relates to the way we view and interpret films The way in which we, as an audience, view and interpret films can be seen to relate directly to our understanding of genre . However, what is genre? Drawing on the knowledge of key theorists and critics such as Steve Neale and Barry Langford this essay will first attempt to define genre and our understanding of it before focusing on how genre relates to the audiences view and interpretation of films. It will also touch upon the historical contexts of genre, and how genre helps the film industry create films and their interpretation of film. An interpretation that differs in a number of ways to that of an audience s due to their goals being different thanks to the ways they view film. Before we can begin to delve into how genre relates to the way we as an audience view and interpret films, we must first attempt to define and understand what the term genre means when relating it to the film industry, in particular Hollywood. Genre is a simple French word meaning type and therefore when taking this simple, direct approach we can see genre as a type of film or films such as a comedy , which has the association, in many cases, with humour. • 43. Theme Of Honor In Chronicle Of A Death Foretold IB English A: Literature HL Written Assignment Word Count: 1,277 An Investigation into Honor in Chronicle of a Death Foretold According to Epic World History, Latin American men consider honor both a prized personal possession and a crucially important expression of one s public self ( Epic World History ). To lose one s honor was to become low and tarnished in society s eyes. Chronicle of a Death Foretold tells a story of horrific murder driven by the loss of honor through a journalistic view. In the novella, Chronicle of a Death Foretold, through the actions and thoughts of the Vicario brothers and townspeople, Gabriel GarcĂa Marquez highlights the absurdity of the code of honor and critiques the flaws in Latin American society. With the defensive actions of the Vicario brothers, Marquez scrutinizes how Latin American society uses the code of honor as a justification for vengeful acts. Following the crime, the Vicario brothers speak on trial, defending their innocence: It was a matter of honour (29). Marquez uses the self justifying tone of the phrase matter of honor to criticize that within Latin American society, people do not falter to commit such heinous crimes, and perceive such acts as ways to regain honor. The Vicario brother s justification of homicide therefore reflects the society s twisted perception of honor. The Vicario s brother s self reassurance is also conveyed through the numerous times they announced, We are going to kill Santiago Nasar ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
