The Design And Development Of The Architecture For The...
History of REST
Since 1994, the REST architectural style has been used to guide the design and development of the
architecture for the modern Web (Roy T. Fielding, 2000)
When HTTP , Uniform Resource Identifiers (URI), was being developed by the Internet Engineering
Taskforce there was a need for a model to be created of how the WWW should actually work.
This idealized model of the interactions within a web application, is what was then later referred to as
the Representational State Transfer (REST) architectural style and it became the foundation for the
modern Web architecture, providing the guiding principles by which flaws in the preexisting
architecture could be identified and extensions validated prior to deployment. (Roy T. Fielding., et al.,
2005)
World Wide Web
Initially the web was meant for researchers but around 1993 it became evident that more entities were
likely to use it as usage was starting to spread to campus dorms, clubs houses personal home pages
and later to the institutions and commercial companies.
When individuals started publishing their personal information, on different topics they felt fanatic
about this social network effect started a rapid growth of sites that still goes on to this day.
Commercial interest also was beginning, but it was evident by then that the ability to publish on an
international wide scale would be inevitable to business and related entities.
Despite this initial success that was being witnessed, a concern came to the

Architecture, Power, and National Identity Essay examples
Having a sense of belonging is one of several fundamental human needs and national identity refers to
a person s sense of belonging to one country with its history, values and traditions. Since achieving
independence in 1957, the issue of Malaysia s national identity has been in the spotlight due to its
strong social, political and economical factors implication. As a multi cultural country, the search for a
national identity is not an easy undertaking as Malaysians consist of different ethnics such as Malay,
Chinese and Indian. Each ethnic group contributes their own unique culture and religion, hence
making it difficult to form a Malaysian identity. In fact, in September 2010, Prime Minister Najib Tun
Razak announced the 1 Malaysia ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The term, vernacular architecture, was first used by architectural theorists to describe buildings that
seemed not to have been consciously designed and affected by the intellectual and artistic currents of
the Renaissance (Dell Upton, 1983).
With the growing presence of globalization and modernization, the pre industrial building heritage is
indeed under threat with modern methods prevailing. In that vein, we are seeing how the designs, use
and meanings of these traditions change within the concepts of the contemporary processes in a
globalized world (Lindsay Asquit, Marcel Vellinga, 2006).
The societal effects are evident in the negotiation of identity, and the definition and value of key
concepts like tradition, modernity and place (Lindsay Asquit, Marcel Vellinga, 2006). One of the most
engaging aspects that is relevant to the discourse of how vernacular architecture is tradition. It has
been a major theme in writings on vernacular architecture (Al Sayyad, 2004). According to the values
Victor Papanek exposed in his theory that vernacular architecture is the result of multiple causation ,
tradition as practiced in vernacular architecture can be displayed via a cultural explanation: In a
traditional setting, there are many that determine an auspicious date before starting construction, by

Why Is The Big Bang Theory Wrong
Many things prove the Big Bang theory is true and the steady state theory is wrong. The Big Bang
theory states; all matter and energy in the universe was compressed into an extremely small volume
that 13 billion to 15 billion years ago exploded and began expanding in all directions. The steady state
theory states; the universe is always expanding but maintaining a constant average density. Red shifted
light spectrum, cosmic background radiation, and the composition of matter all take part in supporting
the Big Bang theory.
Red shifted light happens when other electromagnetic radiation in an object increases in wavelength.
The light from different galaxies is red shifted, this tells us that the galaxies are moving away from us
and the further

Gender Inequality Since The Beginning Of Time Mankind Has...

Gender Inequality In America Since the beginning of time mankind has been divided and categorized
based on gender. Starting from birth males and females are assigned roles based are expected to act
and adhere to stereotypes given to that sex. Only in recent times have either gender stepped outside of
the gender boundaries. However, despite the new sense of individuality society tries to restrict them to
gender archetypes. Males are expected to be masculine and females are expected to me feminine and
if either tries to be the other they are told its wrong. There is so much inequality in society today, even
beyond the binary gender . Transgender persons also experience inequality in equal parts as
cisgendered people. In most cases though when the topic of equality is brought up the conversation
transitions to feminism, almost ignoring transgender. Inequality equally affects everyone not just
females. Despite the inequalities genders face, improvement can be seen. Although there are
arguments that say there are areas in American society where there has been very little advancement,
there are some areas where there has been major increase in gender equality especially for women
rights, women in government, women in the medical field, and transgender equality. While gender
equality as a whole is improving greatly in America there are arguments that there has been little to no
improvement. The reasons

Rhetorical Analysis Of Toyota
Being in a spiralling economy, the automobile industry must step up their games to produce attractive
advertisements. Creativity is crucial to attract potential buyers and gain more sales. To target specific
prospects through ads, the automobile industry usually apply rhetoric concepts to enhance their
product s appeal in every way, and not just purely on the automobile designs. As men are the main
target audience, car ads are usually being advertised as appealing and dangerous. Nevertheless, there
are other important aspects to be highlighted as well, which can be perfectly marketed with certain
rhetoric aspects. Although automobile ads always target the male audience, the industry also

Toyota reminds the audience to always pay close attention to their surroundings and the system

Toyota cars can be used by everyone and everywhere, however, the attitude of the driver is still very
important. Looking at how the commercial emphasize on the calmness and the family being the
passengers, for instance, the mother looking back to check out on the son after the near death
experience or the pre collision, Toyota is trying to show how important it is to take safety measure
seriously as the driver is responsible over the life of others passengers. The emotional aspect from this
scenario might not be magnified into a tensely or panicking mode, yet subtly leaves an impact to the
audience to always care about other people in the car and the external surrounding. Toyota is proving
that their vehicle is safe for family use, and while they will keep manufacturing better designs and
systems for their users, the driving attitude is important too. The ad does not show reckless driving of
any sort, to prove that even when we drive at a slow pace, accidents can still happen and can be
caused by external factors. Therefore, with a good driving attitude and Toyota vehicles, the risk can be

Harry S Truman Research Paper
If you ask a person on the streets about Harry S. Truman, they would probably talk about him
dropping an atomic bomb on Hiroshima, Japan. Maybe they would talk about how he advanced the
cause of African American civil rights. Either way, Harry S. Truman is considered one of our nation s
best presidents even though he was criticized years after his presidency.
Harry S. Truman was born on May 8th, 1884. He grew up in Independence, Missouri, only ten miles
east of Kansas City. He was born with poor sight, and was often picked on at school for being
different. In 1901, Truman graduated from high school and tried to attend West Point for college but
couldn t because of financial problems. Instead, he worked in a mailroom of the Kansas City Star. ...

You could catch him relaxing at home, getting a couple of drinks with his friends, and at his library
giving speeches or helping students write a paper on him. He told one young history professor that he
had better go home and read his books before trying to interview him again.
Harry S. Truman died on December 26, 1972 of old age. His wife, Bess, had him buried in the
courtyard of his library. Bess followed him in death ten years later. Truman s legacy is quite amazing.
During his presidency, he was not a fan favorite of people in the U.S. But now researchers rank him as
one of the best presidents the United States has ever had.
His stature didn t start to rise until students and researchers started studying what he did during his
presidency. They realized that he did what was best for the United States and started to respect him.
He left his mark on domestic and foreign affairs. He helped the United States after post war and tried
to make minimum wage higher. He also helped put the United States as prime minister of NATO,
which we still are today. Truman s known for one of the best political comebacks ever in U.S

Downtown Atlanta Narrative Analysis
Cities, more often than not, tend to represent the prosperity and culture of the surrounding landscape.
Cultures and subcultures that exist in a given region tend to mold and frame the development of its
cities and towns. Atlanta however, during the late nineteenth and early twentieth century, had the
unique opportunity to mold and shape not only its own identity, but also the landscape that
surrounded. Two scholarly works, In the Mind s Eye: The Downtown as Visual Metaphor for the
Metropolis by Karen Luehrs and Timothy Crimmins, and The Sons of Henry Grady: Atlanta Boosters
in the 1920s by Charles Garofalo, characterizes the evolution of Atlanta during the turn of the century
into becoming the city that would continue to grow until the 1970s.
Both Luehrs and Crimmins provide a descriptive analysis of downtown s evolving appearance and the
varying development patterns from the reconstruction period to the roaring twenties. Combined with

Luehrs and Crimmins usage of quantitative research provides a sharp image of downtown Atlanta s
landscape during the reconstruction (through the 1920s), noting the diversity of structures and where
most business activities took place. In doing so, they create an extensive dossier of downtown Atlanta
s development patterns. In conjunction, Luehrs and Crimmins note the direction of civic engagement
that New South Advocates where pushing the city of Atlanta towards. What is interesting in Luehrs
and Crimmins analysis of downtown Atlanta s development is how they position the discourse of New
South Advocates against the reality of commercial patterns that were present during the time period.
Thus Luehrs and Crimmins argument here is not in the materiality of Atlanta s downtown, but instead

Why Is Mr Smith Goes To Washington Still Relevant Today
The film, Mr. Smith Goes To Washington is an great example of what is going in the politics back then
and today too. Some characters in the film are Jefferson Smith Young Senator and the main character,
Clarissa Saunders Smith s Assistant, Joseph Paine Senior Senator, Jim Taylor Political Boss, Gov.
Hopper Governor, Chick McGann Taylor s Assistant and Diz Moore Newspaper Reporter and
Saunders friend. The film shows how Taylor, Paine and other guys are treating Mr. Smith and how
corrupted they are. In the end, Mr. Smith proves that he haven t done anything wrong and proves it.
The result made Paine and Taylor mad and were found guilty. Throughout the film, we can learn
lesson that nothing can be kept hidden, like corruption and making false case about others. In the end,

One of the example from the film is, when Mr. Smith is appealing and trying to prove that he hasn t
done anything. Mr. Smith was speaking from about last seven hours and taking the stage slowly. One
of the member says to take a break and give more explanation next morning because it was already
midnight. Mr.Smith asks the Speaker of the House and he says once he stops talking today, he won t
get the stage back in the morning. And so thats why Mr.Smith refuses to take break and continous to

In our class we learned the same characteristics that once you take a break, you don t get the floor or

Psychopaths In Prison
Generally defined, psychopathy is a personality disorder that is characterized by a combination of
superficial charm, strong antisocial behavior, and extreme sensation seeking and impulsivity.
Psychopaths make up approximately 15% of the prison population while between 50% 80% of that
prison population could be diagnosed more broadly with antisocial personality disorder (Ogloff,
2006). While the percentage of those diagnosed with antisocial personality disorder is high, the
percentage of psychopaths in prison is extremely overrepresented compared to the average population
which hovers between 1% 4% (Ogloff, 2006). While it would be disingenuous to say that all

In prison, they figured out that the best way to leave was to operate at the best behavior possible. From
there, once they were outside again, they were able to operate the same way they were before. This
aspect emphasizes the effect that the striatum and the amygdala play. The amygdala acted in complete
disregard for previous punishment once the subject was out of prison; meanwhile, the striatum drives
the constant desire for stimulation. This drives the thought that there may be psychopaths in existence

Coping Skills Analysis
I am a very anxious person. Most would not know this about me because I have been able to
implement coping skills to keep my anxiety under control. Using my coping skills has allowed me to
keep my cool. However, on the inside, I am a complete wreck. When I am encountering situations that
make me nervous, I feel as though I have to talk myself down. I know that this trait was passed down
to me from both of my parents whether it was from genetics, the environment, or both. My father was
an alcoholic when I was growing up (He has been in recovery for over 30 years) and my mother was a
workaholic. I have an older brother and running the household was left up to him and me. Having a
father that was an alcoholic made life unpredictable.

THE BHAGAVAD GITAAN ANALYSIS OF APPROACHING THE ULTIMATE TRUTH AND
JHANA YOGAAbstract In the Bhagavad Gita, the fourth discourse which is composed of forty two
verses, Lord Krishna, the narrator guides Arjuna a warrior who is finding himself pondering about the
simple principles of life while he is fighting the war. In the fourth discourse Arjuna learns from Lord
Krishna about faith, wisdom sacrifice, ignorance, doubts of the soul, action and inaction, selfless
service, and self realization which ultimately leads to the ultimate truth, which is the path for the
spiritual soul to reach its maximum potential here on earth and the afterlife. This essay will focus on
analyzing the ultimate truth while seeing how it coexists with the study and practice of Jhana Yoga.
Each of the principles presented in this essay will have an in depth examination. The philosophical
and religious as well as human natures are some of the most important themes that will be displayed in
this essay. The idea of the materialistic values that is present in everyday life serve as the reason to
why one cannot know the ultimate truth and how one can overcome this in order to find supreme
peace. Karma yoga will be studied as Lord Krishna tells its importance to Arjuna, so he can follow the
path of divine fulfillment. The universality of religion and selflessness serve as the two strengths one
can achieve to be capable to have and live by the ultimate truth. The aspect of tradition and the origins

Collective Bargaining During The Great Depression
After researching information about collective bargaining, I found several cases of employees
exercising the rights they are entitled to. One of these rights I found was the right of employees to
form a union. The act of collective bargaining, be it a labor union, strike, picket, etc., came to a height
during the Great Depression.
The Great Depression was a significant time in the United States for many reasons. It spurred the
formation of labor unions, strikes against banks, and just an overall demand for greater working
conditions and employee welfare. With the revolt against banks happening as a result of the crash, a
union was formed in 1937 known as the Chicago Teachers Union (CTU).
The CTU was powerful in establishing bargaining rights,

Tragic Heroines In Greek Drama
In ancient Greece, societal conventions and norms permeated all aspects of life. The arts were
especially influenced by the ideals and beliefs of society. Gender was especially regulated in everyday
life, something we see reflected in many art forms. The ancient Greeks were extremely influential in
both the visual and dramatic arts. Throughout the development of these styles, we see how society s
established gender norms permeated the works of artists and playwrights alike. This is especially true
in the depictions of dramatic heroines. Women from famous legends and myth were popular topics of
study in the arts, but this does not mean they were spared from gendered expectations and roles. This
paper will study representations of Greek tragic heroines in Athenian drama and on vase paintings.
Through case studies of Alcestis, Medea, Electra, and Clytemnestra, I will see how perceptions of
these women consistent or varying across the different art forms, how they upheld expectations of
decorum, and how they are shown as upholding or challenging gender roles. By examining the
intersection of theatre and vase painting, we can have a better understanding of how Greek society
viewer these tragic heroines and the themes connected to their narratives. It is important to
acknowledge the time frame we are looking at for both the texts and vases. Greek drama greatly
developed and rose in popularity during the 6th and 5th centuries BCE, during which all of the texts

Last year, around halfway through the year, I had very bad depression. I soon learned that Jim Carrey

A Brief Look at the Gesture
The gesture
Gesture is the natural, nonverbal way that human can use to communicate with each other, and
recently interface with computers and devices in order to have control upon them besides conventional
input devices such as keyboard, mouse, and joystick. In general, gestures can be categorized into static
and dynamic.
A static gesture refers to the position and poses of hand without any movement, which can be
represented by a single image.
A dynamic gesture describes the hand movement, which can be determined through a set of successive
images or video frames (3D Hand Gesture Recognition Based on Sensor Fusion of Commodity
Hardware).
2.3.2 Data acquisition
This stage is responsible for acquiring and collecting gestures from the human (usually hand gestures).
There are many technologies that can be used to acquire and capture the gestures, and then convert
them into a digital form (Sensors for Gesture Recognition Systems) in order to be understandable by
digital devices. These technologies vary in terms of capability and accuracy to get the gestures. The
following are some technologies used for gestures acquisition.
A. Cameras: are the main gesture captured technologies used in vision based gesture recognition
systems. There are different types of cameras such as color stereo cameras (using two cameras to
obtain a left and right stereo image), 2D cameras, 3D cameras, and thermal cameras. These cameras
can be used to capture human gestures and send them to

The Right To Jerusalem Essay
The Rights to Jerusalem
The rights to Jerusalem have been heavily debated for centuries. It is the cause of much animosity
between the three major monotheistic religions. Since the beginning, the Christians, Muslims and
Jews have all claimed that Jerusalem belongs to them due to their religious texts. According to the
Bible, Jerusalem is where Jesus Christ was nailed to the cross and crucified for his crimes, blasphemy
against Judaism and for treason against Rome. Jerusalem and the area surrounding it are heavily
embedded in Christianity and Judaism. Jerusalem is sacred to the Jews because the First Temple, at the
site known as the Temple Mount today, was built by King Solomon, and Mount Moriah is where
Abraham almost sacrificed his son and ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the New Testament books of Luke and Acts, the accounts of the life of Jesus Christ are told from
his youth and adolescence to his adulthood and death. Jesus was brought to Jerusalem, in his youth
and adolescence, to be presented to God in the Temple, and to partake with his family in the Festival
of the Passover. In his adulthood, he traveled to Jerusalem to preach to the poor, heal the sick and
protect the people within the walls that surrounded Jerusalem. It is also the location of Jesus Last
Supper, his arrest in Gethsemane, his trial, his crucifixion at Golgotha, his burial, his resurrection and
ascension to heaven. With the significance of Jerusalem being very high in the eyes of the Christian
faith, there was very little doubt that there would be a battle to maintain or regain control of
Jerusalem. Nine of the main conflicts, to preserve Jerusalem for the Christian faith, are known
throughout history as the Crusades. During each crusade the theme was the same; recover the lands
that were taken by people who were believed to be the enemies of God. The Crusades were fought to
restore all holy lands and the lands that were once controlled by Christians back to their rightful
owners .

Essay On Us Foreign Relations
The United States is an amazing land of opportunity, open to most anyone of any nationality. This land
has shone a beacon of freedom since 1776 when it declared its sovereignty from Great Britain and the
fight for its freedom. The United States has since then taken a vital part in much of the many
international affairs that occur around the globe. Some of it being conducive to its continued
sovereignty and expansion and its fight to be the most powerful country in the free world, and some of
it to help our allies in ways that they cannot always help themselves. In today s world, the United

While this is one example of foreign relations in the history of the United States, there are many
others, such as the Revolutionary War, where the United States got its beginning, the War of 1812,
where the United States had to once again defend itself from Great Britain in a great victory, America
s involvement in the island nation of Hawaii, which had an interesting outcome, and the Spanish
American war, which had many repercussions, some being good and some being bad.
The best place to start with foreign relations of the United States is in the Revolutionary War when the
United States fought Great Britain for their independence. This war began on April 19, 1775, and
ended on September 3, 1783, with a surprising victory for the Americans. The war was caused by
growing political changes between the Americans and the British. The British were continually taxing
the American people while simultaneously giving them no say in the matter. This is where the famous
phrase No taxation without representation comes from. It was not long after this point when the
Americans decided to finally fight for their independence from the British and not only fight for better
representation in their government. This is arguably the first time the United States as a sovereign
nation had any sort of foreign relations with a nation that was not

Television Advertising For Prescription And...
Pharmaceutical companies have been using a lot of various strategies to market their medications,
notably in a contentious and lucrative market for prescriptions and non prescription medications.
Kornfield, Donohue, Berndt, and Alexander (2013, p. 1) argued that the United States profoundly
advertised pharmaceuticals and spent at least $30 billion dollars on publicity and selling of these
products. In this written assignment I will be presenting a summary of an interesting article from
Faerber and Kreling (2013) titled: Content Analysis of False and Misleading Claims in Television

On the words of the Chartered Institute of Marketing (2013), marketing is defined as an administration

the public and how accurate are the claim of drug effectiveness from the truth. The investigators

them feel confident in their smiles. Even after the braces are put on their patients, dentists are required
to check up on them often to make sure they are doing what they are supposed to be doing. Another
career I will be researching is Kindergarten teaching because I enjoy being around small children and
have much patience in dealing with their problems.
Dentist always do their job indoors in a dental clinic. They are constantly in physical contact with
their patients while working on the inside of their mouths. Because of this, they are required to wear
latex gloves and glasses to protect their hands from the bacteria of the mouth and their eyes from
anything that could possibly be spat by their patients ( Dentists ). Being a dentist means one needs to
be able to know how to socialize and work in groups while also knowing how to be independent and
work on one s own.
What is required to be a dentist is a high school diploma, 4 years in college for a bachelor s degree, 4
years in dental school, and 2 years in a post doctoral program devoted to the study of orthodontics. (
Dentists ). This will cost about $41,800 each year ( Dentists ). In order to become an orthodontist, one
needs a strong background in math and science ( Dentists ). Advanced courses that could give

The Connecticut Compromise
The Connecticut Plan, also known as the Connecticut Compromise was a merger of the Virginia and
the New Jersey Plans. The original Virginia plan wanted representation based on it s state population
and the New Jersey plan wanted an equal number of representatives for all the states. During the
Constitutional Convention in 1787 an agreement was reached between the larger and smaller states
and it was decided that each state should have fair and equal representation and voting rights. The
agreement also laid out the plan for the structure of the representation of each state. This agreement
became known as the Great Compromise and a Bi cameral legislature was formed and divided into the
House of Representatives and the Senate. It was decided

Bill Gates Is A Frugal, Persevering, Supreme Computer Geek
Bill Gates is a frugal, persevering, supreme computer geek who can hack code with the greatest of
them and is probably the most successful entrepreneur of the 20th century. While the other side of him
is a hard driven businessman. Gates felt that standards were one of the most important attributes you
could possess in a company which has shaped the computer industry into what it is today.
I chose to write about Mr. Gates because he is a programming genius, and through his programming
skills, and competitive business skills, in just 25 years, he built a two man operation into a multibillion
dollar company. He accomplished this achievement by taking current technology and adapting it to a
specific market. He conquered the market ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Other things didn t interest him as much as computers did so he preferred to spend his time playing
poker and video games rather than attending classes. Gates got by on very little sleep and would cram
for tests, and pass with a decent grade. In December of 1974, Allen and Gates took a chance on an
opportunity regarding the Altair 8800. They called the manufacture, MITS, in Albuquerque, NM
telling them they had written a version of the popular computer language BASIC for the Altair, so the
president asked to see the version they had written, but they had not written anything yet. So, Gates
and Allen, began working day and night in Harvard s computer lab. Since they had not Altair to work
on they had to run simulations on other computers. Without knowing if the program would work,
Allen traveled to Albuquerque to test the program on the Altair, and it worked. Once this happened,
Gates decided to drop out of Harvard and move to Albuquerque with Allen. This is where they
officially established Microsoft. Shortly thereafter, MITS collapsed. This did not affect Gates or Allen,
as they were already writing software for other computer start ups including Apple, Commodore, and
Tandy Corp.
In 1979, they moved the company to Seattle. Gates bought an existing operating system for $50,000,
and developed it into MS DOS, which he then licensed to IBM. Gates constructed

Ethical Problems Faced by Actuaries in Business Some...
Cover Sheet
Executive Summary
Our group, The Super Six focussed our research on the problem of ethics and actuarial science. As
Sholom Feldblum states The actuary has a dual role: an objective professional providing guidance on
insurance issues and a business manager promoting the goals of an insurance company (Sholom
Feldblum, pg.1). The purpose of our research was to determine the most common ethical problems an
actuary faces, and the most appropriate methods to solve these problems. Solutions were necessary so
that our stakeholders, current and prospective actuaries, will have more guidance when faced with
these dilemmas. In the valuation sector, we found that the two main conflicts faced by the actuary
were to use discounted ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Through this report, we will explore these subtopics in great detail, and offer several solutions to these
three most common ethical situations an actuary encounters, as well as recommendations on how to
avoid these ethical problems from ever arising.
Methods
Our primary means of research was the internet. We found most of our sources by exploring the many
professional actuarial groups, and looking through their collections of articles and periodicals. We
found that our best sources were from professional organizations such as the Society of Actuaries, and
the Casualty Actuarial Society, both publish periodicals with reliable articles from accredited
actuaries. This method of searching through articles put out by professional organizations was most
effective for us because all of the articles were written by fully qualified actuaries who have first hand
experience working through the ethical conflicts that we describe in our report. All our articles are first
reviewed by the professional organization that publishes them, to ensure that they contain accurate,
and relevant information, which allowed us to keep all our conclusions professional and our
arguments strong. We also used several court documents containing actuarial testimonies about policy
rates, and proper returns on investments. These documents were very useful, as all the information
was very accurate given the legal process required and the extensive background checks and research
that went into

Prison Recidivism
Abstract
This paper will demonstrate whether the length of prison stay for an inmate effects recidivism.
Determining whether the prison sentence for an inmate will deter the criminal from any criminal
activity or if they will recidivate is a key component to see if a prison sentence keeps a criminal from
engaging in any criminal activity. The paper will discuss whether the longer the prison sentence will
reduce recidivism or if the minimum of a sentence will have a higher recidivism rate. The research
conducted will help determine whether a prison sentence has any effect on the relapse of criminal
offenders. This research could help a judge determine to give the appropriate prison sentence to a
criminal. The research conducted comes from a ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
According to Mitchell, Cochran, Mears, Bales, (2016) state that it is abnormal considering that the
incarceration rate in the United States has increased on a yearly annual basis over the past 40 years,
making the United States the leader in incarceration rates. Even though the targets correlated with
imprisonment incorporate incapacitation of active offenders, retribution, and general deterrence, the
reduction of recidivism account for the critical inducement for the rising use of incarceration in the
United States. Research by Mitchell et al. s (2016) article states that classifying and learning the
outlook of prisons increases offending by seen as schools of crime or enable offenders to increase their
tendency to engage in criminal behavior in the future. Learning about the prison system from the
inside gives a greater outlook on the life of a criminal while in prison and their ways of doing things
than being out in the free world.
Mass Incarceration in the United States
Research by Traum (2013) supports the growth of incarceration rates in the United States traces back
to the legal policies that have gone to the increase of the lengths of prison sentences and the
imprisonment. Mitchell et al. (2016) studied the imprisonment rate of the United States in the year of
2012 to be 471 per 100,000 residents; if the ones who are in jail are to be included, then the rate would
increase to 707 per 100,000 residents. According to Mitchell et al. (2016) states that given that the
United States has these rates for imprisonment makes it to exceed than any others in the

The Principles Of Freedom Of An Individual
CHAPTER ONE
INTRODUCTION
The principle of freedom of an individual is the core tenet of liberalism. The foundation of liberalism
is categorized into three. The first is the freedom from arbitrary rule, termed negative freedom which
includes freedom of the press, equality before the law, freedom of conscience and right to property.
The second set of rights ensures the protection and promotion of the capacity and opportunity for
freedom, which is called the positive freedom. Example of such rights are the social and economic
rights to health care, education, gainful employment, for human dignity and participation in the
society. Thirdly, political rights of democratic representation or participation i.e., right to vote or be
voted for to ensure that the other two rights are not infringed on (Kant Political Philosophy, 1993. p.
173).
Liberalism today could slightly be different with earlier views as a result of changes in time and
history however the fundamental tent of liberty and the ideals of freedom, equality, independence as
expressed by Kant remains the same and paramount. Several philosophical views regarding modern
political thought on state of nature, social contract and division of powers has immensely been written
by both Locke and Kant in their era.

Major Competitors
There are many major competitors for EBay. Of the many companies that are in the same industry
which are at the top of the Hoovers in depth list is Amazon, Google, Overstock.com, Walmart.com,

NAICS Numbers
The two primary NAICS numbers I found for EBay are 454111 Electronic Shopping and 454112

The chart on the right shows the relative sales for EBAY and its competitors. These companies have
diverse products that are sold on line to consumers and industries all over the world. This is not the
best way to measure the success of these companies because it does not account for the size of the

through their relative return on equity.

Can Kids Be Scared Straight
Has someone ever used fear to motivate you to do something or prevent you from doing something
you shouldn t? In Sinners in the Hands of an Angry God rather than motivating his congregation by
describing the joys of Heaven, Edwards tries to frighten them by evoking the horrors and torment of
Hell. In Beyond Scared Straight, the program takes juveniles to a prison where they see an
unvarnished glimpse into prison life and where your consequences may take you. In the article Can
Kids Be Scared Straight a group of male juvenile delinquents and their encounter with hardened
criminals in a maximum security prison. They told teenagers about the ugly realities of their day to
day existence. Some reasons that appeals to fear is the best motivational force is that it makes them
realize there is still hope for them, how serious the consequences are, and prison may not be what they
think. One reason that appeals to fear is the best motivational force because it makes them realize

God has so many different unsearchable ways of taking wicked men out of the world and sending
them to Hell, ..., or go out of the ordinary course of his providence, to destroy any wicked man, at any

born again God will deal with them in unsearchable ways, He will take them out of the world and send
them to Hell. Consider the fearful danger you are in: it is a great furnace of wrath, a wide and
bottomless pit, full of the fire of wrath, that you are held over in the hand of that God, whose wrath is
provoked and incensed as much against you, as against many of the damned in Hell (Edwards 43).
Edwards is trying to persuade the unconverted to be born again. He wants them to think of the danger
they are in because they have not been

Executive Summary
The following literature review summarizes research on United States agricultural stakeholder views
and actions towards climate change, including extreme weather, adaptation and mitigation measures,
and climate forecasting tools. The majority of references discussed are from 2000 2015 and are peer
reviewed journal articles containing surveys and interviews; we also include relevant non peer
reviewed reports. The review focuses on the attitudes and actions of United States farmers, ranchers,
university researchers, extension educators, agriculture advisors, and other agricultural stakeholders
towards climate change. We focus particularly on the literature assessing stakeholders understanding
of climate science, whether ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Ride Along 2 Analysis
After four weeks of dominance, The Force was officially been subdued and dethroned by the new
comedy sequel, Ride Along 2. With a significant debut of $34 million, the comedy duo of Kevin Hart
Ice Cube strikes again just as they did with their predecessor nearly two years ago to the day.
Unfortunately, not everything about Ride Along 2 s victory is good news as the new film failed to
surpass the opening establish by 2014 s Ride Along ($41.5 million). Of course poor reviews didn t
help the comedy s cause, either as it currently maintains a wretched score of 14% at RottenTomatoes.
Regardless, Ride Along 2 is far from a bust after being produced on $40 million. Holding strong in the
second position is the new Golden Globe winner for Best Drama, The Revenant which grabbed a
healthy $29.5 million. The film, starring Leonardo DiCaprio, gave Star Wars a run for its money last
weekend, through coming up just short. However, with a slew of Golden Globe wins last weekend,
The Revenant picked up steam and should continue to remain relevant as we move closer to he Oscars
in February. To date, The Revenant has grossed $111.4 million, worldwide ($87.6 million,
domestically), and was produced on $135 million. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Essay on The Reality of War in John Knowles A Separate...
The Reality of War in John Knowles A Separate Peace
In his book A Separate Peace John Knowles communicates what war really is. He uses a number of
complex characters in a very complicated plot in order to convey the harsh, sad, cruel, destructive
forces of war. The Characters Gene and Finny are used as opposing forces in a struggle between that
cold reality of war that is World War II in this story and a separate peace. A peace away from the real
war and all of the terrible things that come with it. Through their relationship, that is a struggle on
both sides from the beginning, Knowles establishes the reality of war in all of its essence.
Gene Forrester is established as the force of reality which is the war. This idea is ... Show more

Money is very easy to earn but rather hard to spend, because there isn t very much to buy. . .The war
will always be fought very far away from America and it will never end. Nothing in America stands
still for very long, including the people, who are always either leaving or on leave. (32)
This is what Gene stands for in the story of A Separate Peace. Gene appears to omnisciently
understand the reality of war and how it effects people. Throughout the entire story Gene is used to
bring in the destructive reality of war into the everyday life at Devon High School where there is an
attempt to create, and exist in, a separate peace.
There is however quite an opposition to this reality known by Gene that is headed by Gene s best
friend Finny. Finny has his own reality. Finny displays this reality throughout the whole book just as
Gene acts throughout the whole book. From the perspective of the narrator, Gene, Finny s world is one
where there are a lot of things that Finny does to try and substitute for the real war. This world or
reality that Finny creates and exists in is the separate peace spoken of earlier.
Finny first begins to create this separate peace with games. Because Finny can t face the reality of the
real war these games are representative of the war. Finny makes the rules so that he can exist in these
games as a force that is indomitable. The first game Finny invents is The Super Suicide Society of the

  • 2. The Design And Development Of The Architecture For The... History of REST Since 1994, the REST architectural style has been used to guide the design and development of the architecture for the modern Web (Roy T. Fielding, 2000) When HTTP , Uniform Resource Identifiers (URI), was being developed by the Internet Engineering Taskforce there was a need for a model to be created of how the WWW should actually work. This idealized model of the interactions within a web application, is what was then later referred to as the Representational State Transfer (REST) architectural style and it became the foundation for the modern Web architecture, providing the guiding principles by which flaws in the preexisting architecture could be identified and extensions validated prior to deployment. (Roy T. Fielding., et al., 2005) World Wide Web Initially the web was meant for researchers but around 1993 it became evident that more entities were likely to use it as usage was starting to spread to campus dorms, clubs houses personal home pages and later to the institutions and commercial companies. When individuals started publishing their personal information, on different topics they felt fanatic about this social network effect started a rapid growth of sites that still goes on to this day. • 3. Architecture, Power, and National Identity Essay examples Having a sense of belonging is one of several fundamental human needs and national identity refers to a person s sense of belonging to one country with its history, values and traditions. Since achieving independence in 1957, the issue of Malaysia s national identity has been in the spotlight due to its strong social, political and economical factors implication. As a multi cultural country, the search for a national identity is not an easy undertaking as Malaysians consist of different ethnics such as Malay, Chinese and Indian. Each ethnic group contributes their own unique culture and religion, hence making it difficult to form a Malaysian identity. The term, vernacular architecture, was first used by architectural theorists to describe buildings that seemed not to have been consciously designed and affected by the intellectual and artistic currents of the Renaissance (Dell Upton, 1983). With the growing presence of globalization and modernization, the pre industrial building heritage is indeed under threat with modern methods prevailing. In that vein, we are seeing how the designs, use and meanings of these traditions change within the concepts of the contemporary processes in a globalized world (Lindsay Asquit, Marcel Vellinga, 2006). The societal effects are evident in the negotiation of identity, and the definition and value of key concepts like tradition, modernity and place (Lindsay Asquit, Marcel Vellinga, 2006). One of the most engaging aspects that is relevant to the discourse of how vernacular architecture is tradition. It has been a major theme in writings on vernacular architecture (Al Sayyad, 2004). The Big Bang theory states; all matter and energy in the universe was compressed into an extremely small volume that 13 billion to 15 billion years ago exploded and began expanding in all directions. The steady state theory states; the universe is always expanding but maintaining a constant average density. Red shifted light spectrum, cosmic background radiation, and the composition of matter all take part in supporting the Big Bang theory. Red shifted light happens when other electromagnetic radiation in an object increases in wavelength. Marichelle Arnold Professor Lee March Political Science 1100 6 March 2015 Gender Inequality In America Since the beginning of time mankind has been divided and categorized based on gender. Starting from birth males and females are assigned roles based are expected to act and adhere to stereotypes given to that sex. Only in recent times have either gender stepped outside of the gender boundaries. However, despite the new sense of individuality society tries to restrict them to gender archetypes. Males are expected to be masculine and females are expected to me feminine and if either tries to be the other they are told its wrong. There is so much inequality in society today, even beyond the binary gender . Transgender persons also experience inequality in equal parts as cisgendered people. In most cases though when the topic of equality is brought up the conversation transitions to feminism, almost ignoring transgender. Inequality equally affects everyone not just females. Despite the inequalities genders face, improvement can be seen. Although there are arguments that say there are areas in American society where there has been very little advancement, there are some areas where there has been major increase in gender equality especially for women rights, women in government, women in the medical field, and transgender equality. While gender equality as a whole is improving greatly in America there are arguments that there has been little to no improvement. The reasons ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Cultures and subcultures that exist in a given region tend to mold and frame the development of its cities and towns. Atlanta however, during the late nineteenth and early twentieth century, had the unique opportunity to mold and shape not only its own identity, but also the landscape that surrounded. Two scholarly works, In the Mind s Eye: The Downtown as Visual Metaphor for the Metropolis by Karen Luehrs and Timothy Crimmins, and The Sons of Henry Grady: Atlanta Boosters in the 1920s by Charles Garofalo, characterizes the evolution of Atlanta during the turn of the century into becoming the city that would continue to grow until the 1970s. • 16. Tragic Heroines In Greek Drama In ancient Greece, societal conventions and norms permeated all aspects of life. The arts were especially influenced by the ideals and beliefs of society. Gender was especially regulated in everyday life, something we see reflected in many art forms. The ancient Greeks were extremely influential in both the visual and dramatic arts. Throughout the development of these styles, we see how society s established gender norms permeated the works of artists and playwrights alike. This is especially true in the depictions of dramatic heroines. Women from famous legends and myth were popular topics of study in the arts, but this does not mean they were spared from gendered expectations and roles. This paper will study representations of Greek tragic heroines in Athenian drama and on vase paintings. Through case studies of Alcestis, Medea, Electra, and Clytemnestra, I will see how perceptions of these women consistent or varying across the different art forms, how they upheld expectations of decorum, and how they are shown as upholding or challenging gender roles. By examining the intersection of theatre and vase painting, we can have a better understanding of how Greek society viewer these tragic heroines and the themes connected to their narratives. It is important to acknowledge the time frame we are looking at for both the texts and vases. Greek drama greatly developed and rose in popularity during the 6th and 5th centuries BCE, during which all of the texts we will be ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

According to the Bible, Jerusalem is where Jesus Christ was nailed to the cross and crucified for his crimes, blasphemy against Judaism and for treason against Rome. The best place to start with foreign relations of the United States is in the Revolutionary War when the United States fought Great Britain for their independence. This war began on April 19, 1775, and ended on September 3, 1783, with a surprising victory for the Americans. The war was caused by growing political changes between the Americans and the British. Even after the braces are put on their patients, dentists are required to check up on them often to make sure they are doing what they are supposed to be doing. Another career I will be researching is Kindergarten teaching because I enjoy being around small children and have much patience in dealing with their problems. Dentist always do their job indoors in a dental clinic. They are constantly in physical contact with their patients while working on the inside of their mouths. Because of this, they are required to wear latex gloves and glasses to protect their hands from the bacteria of the mouth and their eyes from anything that could possibly be spat by their patients ( Dentists ). Being a dentist means one needs to be able to know how to socialize and work in groups while also knowing how to be independent and work on one s own. What is required to be a dentist is a high school diploma, 4 years in college for a bachelor s degree, 4 years in dental school, and 2 years in a post doctoral program devoted to the study of orthodontics. ( Dentists ). This will cost about $41,800 each year ( Dentists ). In order to become an orthodontist, one needs a strong background in math and science ( Dentists ). So, Gates and Allen, began working day and night in Harvard s computer lab. Since they had not Altair to work on they had to run simulations on other computers. Without knowing if the program would work, Allen traveled to Albuquerque to test the program on the Altair, and it worked. Once this happened, Gates decided to drop out of Harvard and move to Albuquerque with Allen. This is where they officially established Microsoft. Shortly thereafter, MITS collapsed. As Sholom Feldblum states The actuary has a dual role: an objective professional providing guidance on insurance issues and a business manager promoting the goals of an insurance company (Sholom Feldblum, pg.1). The purpose of our research was to determine the most common ethical problems an actuary faces, and the most appropriate methods to solve these problems. Solutions were necessary so that our stakeholders, current and prospective actuaries, will have more guidance when faced with these dilemmas. Methods Our primary means of research was the internet. We found most of our sources by exploring the many professional actuarial groups, and looking through their collections of articles and periodicals. We found that our best sources were from professional organizations such as the Society of Actuaries, and the Casualty Actuarial Society, both publish periodicals with reliable articles from accredited actuaries. This method of searching through articles put out by professional organizations was most effective for us because all of the articles were written by fully qualified actuaries who have first hand experience working through the ethical conflicts that we describe in our report. All our articles are first reviewed by the professional organization that publishes them, to ensure that they contain accurate, and relevant information, which allowed us to keep all our conclusions professional and our arguments strong. We also used several court documents containing actuarial testimonies about policy rates, and proper returns on investments. These documents were very useful, as all the information was very accurate given the legal process required and the extensive background checks and research that went into ... Even though the targets correlated with imprisonment incorporate incapacitation of active offenders, retribution, and general deterrence, the reduction of recidivism account for the critical inducement for the rising use of incarceration in the United States. • 30. The Principles Of Freedom Of An Individual CHAPTER ONE INTRODUCTION The principle of freedom of an individual is the core tenet of liberalism. The foundation of liberalism is categorized into three. The first is the freedom from arbitrary rule, termed negative freedom which includes freedom of the press, equality before the law, freedom of conscience and right to property. The second set of rights ensures the protection and promotion of the capacity and opportunity for freedom, which is called the positive freedom. Example of such rights are the social and economic rights to health care, education, gainful employment, for human dignity and participation in the society. Thirdly, political rights of democratic representation or participation i.e., right to vote or be voted for to ensure that the other two rights are not infringed on (Kant Political Philosophy, 1993. p. 173). Liberalism today could slightly be different with earlier views as a result of changes in time and history however the fundamental tent of liberty and the ideals of freedom, equality, independence as expressed by Kant remains the same and paramount. Several philosophical views regarding modern political thought on state of nature, social contract and division of powers has immensely been written by both Locke and Kant in their era. With a significant debut of $34 million, the comedy duo of Kevin Hart Ice Cube strikes again just as they did with their predecessor nearly two years ago to the day. Unfortunately, not everything about Ride Along 2 s victory is good news as the new film failed to surpass the opening establish by 2014 s Ride Along ($41.5 million). Of course poor reviews didn t help the comedy s cause, either as it currently maintains a wretched score of 14% at RottenTomatoes. Regardless, Ride Along 2 is far from a bust after being produced on $40 million. The film, starring Leonardo DiCaprio, gave Star Wars a run for its money last weekend, through coming up just short. He uses a number of complex characters in a very complicated plot in order to convey the harsh, sad, cruel, destructive forces of war. The Characters Gene and Finny are used as opposing forces in a struggle between that cold reality of war that is World War II in this story and a separate peace. A peace away from the real war and all of the terrible things that come with it. Through their relationship, that is a struggle on both sides from the beginning, Knowles establishes the reality of war in all of its essence. Nothing in America stands still for very long, including the people, who are always either leaving or on leave. (32) This is what Gene stands for in the story of A Separate Peace. Gene appears to omnisciently understand the reality of war and how it effects people. Throughout the entire story Gene is used to bring in the destructive reality of war into the everyday life at Devon High School where there is an attempt to create, and exist in, a separate peace. There is however quite an opposition to this reality known by Gene that is headed by Gene s best friend Finny. Finny has his own reality. Finny displays this reality throughout the whole book just as Gene acts throughout the whole book. From the perspective of the narrator, Gene, Finny s world is one where there are a lot of things that Finny does to try and substitute for the real war. This world or reality that Finny creates and exists in is the separate peace spoken of earlier. Finny first begins to create this separate peace with games.
