Macro Explanations Of Poverty
Structural theories, or macro explanations, approach the issue of poverty by focusing on
institutional and organizational conditions. Mid level or meta theories bridge the gap between
micro and macro, or individual and structural explanations. They connect the individual people and
places with the dynamic patterns and relationships that contribute to poverty. Tickamyer provides a
number of examples for both kinds of explanations.
Modernization is a structural explanation that sees rural poverty as a result of a lack of economic
and industrial development. According to modernization, traditional values and practices prevented
the acceptance of new technologies and institutions. This point of view looks past the individual

The Project Plan For The Final Project
In doing a research project, it is always important for one to have a plan. In this case, the
following will outline the Project Plan for the final Project. The types of sources, a timeline, a
plan to gather information and a working research question will be outlined for use throughout the
project. The types of sources that will be used for this project will vary. The sources will be
researched using various platforms. Most, if not all, researchwill be done through the internet and
various search engines, including but not limited to Google Scholar, the ITT Tech Virtual Library
and Google. The references will vary and will be comprised of scholarly articles, news articles,
possible survey through social media and even blogs for... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For the Literature review, the initial steps taken will be to spend approximately a week to get all
the sources needed. Once all of the sources have been acquired, the next step will be to pull out
the information and then writing the actual literature review over the few weeks left before the
final due date. The few weeks given should be ample enough time to complete the task. The third
step in writing the rough draft, putting everything done preciously together, will be done
throughout the week given to complete the task (based on the initial due dates given). Once the
rough draft has been written the final draft will be worked on through making any and all
necessary changes to the rough draft. Once turned in, a Power Point presentation will be made
and all will be complete. Through the few weeks, some time management will be needed and
time will be set aside to work on all aspects of the project. For this project, the research question
that will be looked at it the most important to allow for the above to take place. For the purposed
of this project, the topic will be looking at Gender in the Informational Technology field. Are
women slowly gaining on men within the field and if so is there any type of resistance or
difficulties they are facing when trying to break into a predominantly male field of work? This
research question will be the basis of

Public Relations And Communication Management Essay
Introduction
Grunig (2013) sees public relations and communication management as fundamental to the
achievement of organisational goals. A major road and tunnelling project in West Auckland, has
required considerable planning and communication with publics. The Waterview Connection
Development (WCD) is a motorway link between State Highways 16 and 20, which, in part, runs
through tunnels. The WCD aims to provide a direct link between the central business district and
the airport, and an alternative to State Highway 1.
This essay critically assesses how the New Zealand Transport Authority (NZTA) has communicated
with publics during the WCD. It analyses the communication activity, and applies publicrelations
theory.
Key Publics
Major publics with an interest in the project include residents with properties affected by the noise
and possible shifts of land, road users who may experience delays during construction, and
businesses that may lose of revenue if customers find it difficult to access their premises. Mehta
and Xavier (2009) note engagement relationship strategies used with various publics may be
different to each other and vary over time as different parts of the project are completed. Project
managers need to negotiate with residents, road users and business owners to minimise disruptions.
All affected sections of Auckland s multicultural population should be included in the organisation s
publics. The diversity model (Mersham, Theunissen, Peart, 2009)

My Cultural Aspects Of My Identity
Imagine that you could split yourself in two in order to be in two different countries at the same
time so that you could experience each culture, taste their food, listen to their language and absorb
every bit of information that these two places offer. In my case, this is how my mind and my
family gatherings feel like. I was born and raised in Ecuadorbut I am also an American citizen. My
familyis half Ecuadorian and half American; each has kept their native countries traditions alive
within their lives and homes. I grew up listening to different accents, learning two languages and
experiencing the best, the worst, and everything in between in both cultures. In the middle of this
beautiful and confusing environment I have realized that my dual cultural background has highly
influenced my beliefs, decisions, thoughts and actions. Being Ecuadorian American is an essential
part of my identity.
When I was a child, I thought that every family was similar to mine. At that time, I didnВґt notice
the cultural differences that surrounded me; and, I didnВґt know the implications this would have
later in my life. In Elementary School, as I began to interact with children to whom I was not
related, I realized that while some families were similar to mine others behaved very differently
because they were entirely Ecuadorian. Although my individuality was already being shaped as a
young girl, I could not possibly know how or why. I began to clearly notice this as teenager when I

The Visit At The Metropolitan Museum Of Art
Over the thanksgiving break I visited the Metropolitan Museum of Art. The Met is an art museum
in New York City that has a variety of ancient artwork from different cultures and time periods.
There is paintings and sculptures from Ancient Egypt, Ancient Rome and Greece. The museum is
additionally home to artwork from many different time periods including ancient Near Eastern Art,
Middle Ages and Europe during the Renaissance. The Met also has artwork from many different
religions such as Christianity and Islam. Each section in the museum had a specific artwork that
attracted my attention. On the first floor of the Met Museum is the Greek and Roman Art. The
Greek and Roman section has hundreds of art work ranging from the Neolithic period to Roman
Emperor Constantine. In the Greek and Roman section there is many portraits and sculptures
including the statue of Emperor Augustus, the statue of Aphrodite, and the Marble female figure.
The sculptures in this section range in different shapes, sizes and colors and are made with a
variety of materials. The sculptures depict emperors, Kings, Queens, Gods and Goddesses of the
time. Much of the statues in this section are missing key parts such as arms, legs and the head due
to the fact that they were damaged before being bought to the museum. The statue in this section
that caught my attention the most was the Marble Statue of Aphrodite. This is a statue of
Aphrodite, who is the Greek Goddess of love, beauty pleasure and

With the help of case studies of Siemens Electric Motor Works, John Deere Component Works, and
Schrader Bellows, Cooper (1989) demonstrated that the management objectives and diversity of
product mix determine the extent of the complexity in the design of activity based cost
management systems. The competitive environment in which the firm is operating, drives the need
for activity based costing.
A well designed integrated cost management system will help the management of the company to
identify opportunities for continuous improvement and point out unused capacity or capacity
constraints, if any, and will facilitate the introduction of activity based budgeting in the
organization. The activity based budgeting mindset makes all cost variable and attempts to match
resource supply with resource demand.
Activity based costing Activity Based Costing (ABC) is a two stage product costing method that
assigns costs first to activities and then to the products based on each product s use of activities. ,
ABC systems first accumulate overhead costs for each organizational activity, and then assign the
costs of the activities to the products, services, or customers (cost objects) causing that activity.
Activity analysis is the processes of identifying appropriate output measures of activities and
resources (cost drivers) and their effects on the costs of making a product or providing a service.

John Charles Lutwidge Dodgson s The Looking Glass
Reverend Charles Lutwidge Dodgson, best known by his pen name Lewis Carroll, has written
many novels, poems, and short stories in his lifetime but his most famous for his children s
?nonsense? novels: Alice s Adventures in Wonderland and the sequel Through the Looking
Glass. His works, especially the two mentioned, have influenced countless readers over the
years, and references to his writings can be found in every type of media from the song ?White
Rabbit? by Jefferson Airplane to the the Matrix trilogy. While both books are intended for a
child s entertainment, they are full of symbolism and hidden critique. His clever wordplay, use
of logic and reasoning, and incredible imagination are all trademarks of his style of writing,
which is often referred to as ?literary nonsense.? To readers with little experience with Carroll s
work, this term seems to perfectly describe Carroll s confusing and often rambling style, but
when more thoroughly inspected, it becomes obvious that this ?nonsense? has a far deeper
meaning. Alice s Adventures in Wonderland is about a young girl, Alice, who gets bored doing
her multiplication tables one day and follows a white rabbit into a hole. Through this hole, she
ends up falling into Wonderland, a place where there are potions and foods that can change the
drinker s size, a tea party thrown by a Mad Hatterand a March Hare, and a Caucus race that
everybody wins. As Alice journeys through Wonderland she meets stranger and stranger, or,

U.s. Cuban Relations With Cuba
Although Obama s desire for better relations with Cuba is an important factor in the
normalization of US Cuban relations, the most important factor is a change in national opinion
towards Cuba, a second image analysis. In 1998, a poll by ABC News indicated that 38% of
Americans believed that diplomatic relations should be re established with Cuba (Polling Report).
A similar poll conducted in 2015 by USA Today/Gallup put that number at 61% (Polling Report).
Any political decision is strongly influenced by public opinion. Obama s decision to normalize US
Cuban relations is only possible because more people, particularly Cuban Americans, are open to
the idea of better relations between the two nations. Historically, many Cubanshave moved to the
US to flee persecution and oppression under the dictatorial Cuban government. Traditionally they
have been the strongest opponents against US Cuban rapprochement, but in recent decades this
opposition has eased considerably. This may be because of a generational shift in the Cuban
American community, as second and third generation Cuban Americans have become more tolerant
and welcome towards greater openness between the two countries.
In 2000, the Elian Gonzalez custody and immigration battle highlighted the anger still prevalent in
the Cuban American community. A motherless Cuban boy was returned to his father in Cuba,
which incited great fury among the Cuban American community that the government would send a
child fleeing Cuba

Cerebral Circulation Of The Body
Cerebral circulation
Cerebral circulation is the movement of blood through the blood vessels to supply the brain. As
brain is the most complicated structure of our body,it needs lots of energy, and then it needs lots of
blood supply.Almost 20 percent blood of the body is used by the brain. And the rate of the cerebral
blood flow is 750ml per minute for an adult, representing 15 percent of the cardiac output. The
arteries deliver oxygenated blood, glucose, and some other nutrients to the brain to make it function
properly.
Blood supply to the brain
The cerebral circulation includes two systems:the anterior cerebral circulation system and the
posterior cerebral circulation system. The anterior circulation system supplies blood primarily to the
middle and front portion of the brain and consists of the left and right carotid arteries. The anterior
blood supply system originated from the carotid arteries. The carotid artery is from the heart and
goes up to the head through the neck. The carotid artery bifurcates into internal carotid artery and
external carotid artery, and the internal carotid artery will go inside the skull to supply blood to the
brain hemisphere, the external carotid artery goes outside of the skull to supply blood to the face.In
the anterior system, there are another two important arteries the anterior cerebral artery and the
middle cerebral artery. The anterior cerebral artery originate from the internal carotid artery, stays in
the midline of the brain and supplies blood

The Field Of Bioinformatics Is The Process Of Technology
1.In your own words, describe what the field of bioinformatics is; write one paragraph (about
300 words) about this; be very descriptive. The field of bioinformatics is the process of
technology by the use of computers (BioPlanet, 2015). This field manages biological
information (BioPlanet, 2015). We all use computers on a regular basis, but computers are
capable of much more they can store biological information, gather this information, analyze and
integrate genetic information as well (BioPlanet, 2015). All these things can be applied towards
drug discoveries like gene based development (BioPlanet, 2015). Bioinformatics just recently
became more popular since the availability of genomic information (BioPlanet, 2015). Now,
because of the popularity of bioinformatics it has become a very important part of biology in
many areas (BMIRC, 2015). In a type of biology called molecular biology bioinformatics is used
in the extraction of results and data (BMIRC, 2015). Take another field for example, genetics
and genomics, it sequences genomes and observes their mutations (BMIRC, 2015). It also plays
an important part in organizing biological and gene data (BMIRC, 2015). Both of these are
examples of how bioinformatics is in a lot of areas of biology (BMIRC, 2015).The tools in
bioinformatics help in the comparison of data such as genetic and genomic (BMIRC, 2015). It
also helps you receive a better understanding of molecular biology (BMIRC, 2015). At a deeper

Types Of Health Maintenance Organization Plans
Two types of health maintenance organization plans that are readily available are the Staff
Model HMO and Group Model HMO, and these plans are often called closed panel plans
(Kongstvedt, 2016, p. 63). These HMO plans are considered closed because either the HMO
employs the physician, or the physician belongs to the HMO group, thus creating a smaller network
for the patient to be seen (Farnham, n.d., Chapter 3). Each HMO plan has its benefits and
disadvantages for the physicianand patient. Consequently, depending on what the patient needs to
meet their medical needs the Staff Model HMO plan or Group Model HMO plan would benefit
them. Furthermore, depending on the particular type of freedom the physician is looking for is
what would influence the type of plan they would join.
During a Staff Model HMO the physician is employed by HMO network, thus they are salaried
employees. Therefore, the physician is paid whether he sees an HMO patient or not. On the other
hand, the physician could be very busy and still get the same salary. Sometimes the HMO offers
incentives for quality control, so that the physician does not use expensive medical testing
(Kongstvedt, 2016, p. 65). Besides the HMO paying the salary of the physicians, the HMO actually
owns the medical facilities, equipment, and supplies used by the HMO physician and in some cases
the hospital. Hence, the physician employed by the HMO could be financially beneficial to them.
Additionally, because of the size of the

Same Love Transition
Individuals undergoing transition often tend to challenge their own and society s attitude, beliefs
and perception. As such, they can often understand or enhance their significance of societal
contexts allowing them to vocalize disposition and maturity, thus affecting the individual s current
ideological positioning. Same Love, a 2013 song by artists Macklemore, Ryan Lewis and Mary
Lambert express a distinctive form of transition by addressing homosexualitywithin the audio visual

details the experiences of a homosexual male through a momentous time lapse thus, confronting

Hong Kong Housing Problem Is Not Only Attributed to the...
Hong Kong Housing Problem is not only attributed to the High Population Density Every Hong
Kong citizen knows one of the grave troubles in Hong Kong is housing problem. The order of
severity can be apparently reflected by many figures in recent research studies. Rents up 22 per

22% to US$2,830 a month between 2009 and 2010 (В¶2). Subcommittee on Building Safety and

The property developers acquire the land with a high cost. They sell the flats with high prices so
as to keep the profit. Moreover, the property developers hoarding of residential land is another
main cause. Perry (2010) claims that six major Hong Kong developers are sitting on projects that
could provide a total of 42.6 million square of living space when completed, or about 43,000
apartments averaging 1,000 square feet (В¶4). Only the living space under construction owned by
the land developers is ample to be resided by 43,000 families after development. This living space
may not solve the entire housing problem, but at least ameliorates the situation by a significant
extent. Due to hoarded land, the market is in a shortage of land supply. Therefore the prices and
rents of flats rise and the property developers earn a tremendous profit. In addition to the
postponement of the residential building, in Law of Hong Kong, there is not a perfect and unified
regulation of the time range to finish building after purchasing the land, implying that the property
developers can thoroughly bridle the market. Apart from the concerns in land supply, immigration
from mainland promotes the housing demand. Starting from 40s, immigration being not governed,
there was an influx of Chinese immigrants due to the Cultural Revolution, the Anti Japanese War
and the Civil War. Policy restraining the number of immigrants soon executed.

Importance Of Railway Transport
Rail This mode of transport is reliable and fast and one of the most important ways by which
people and goods are transported. (Train History , 2017) Rail transportation is referred to as
movement of on guideways and rails are the most common guideways. However technological
progress made monorails and magnetic levitation trains now available and although railways are a
result of the industrial revolution, they have been affected by continuous innovations, technical,
regulatory and commercial changes which have enhanced their capacity and efficiency. Therefore
railway transportis important now as it was in the late 19th century. One innovation pertains to the
quality of the rail infrastructure, particularly rail tracks (e.g. better steel, concrete ties), which
regulates the operational characteristics of their use such as speed, permitted weight, maintenance
and immunity towards the environment.
Increasing electrification and automation also improve the efficiency of rail transportation,
passenger and freight alike. For safety purposes commodities ought to be stowed on the trains in a
certain manner for guaranteed railway delivery. (Slack, 1998) Based on the implementation by
Transport Canada to strengthen the railway and transportation of dangerous goods safety systems.

Steroids In Professional Sports
Did you know in some cases PEDs, or Performance Enhancing Drugs, have been used on people
12 years or younger? People in sports have always wanted an edge and use PEDs, even at young
ages. Because of this the world of sports need to enforce anti doping rules more. One Reason the
world of sports need to enforce anti doping rules more is because the use of PEDs is a form of
cheating. First of all, EPO s, a type of PED, is injected into the bloodstream and increase the
amount of red blood cells in the body, which gives people more endurance. In one test, blood
doping increased endurance by 44%, and steroids increased strength by 38%. A common story
many people have heard is the Jonathan Vaughters story. Jonathan Vaughters, a professional
biker, prepared his whole life for the highest level biking and didn t make it. He chose to dope to
keep up with the other racers. In the early 2000 s everyone got away with doping including
Vaughters, which is more reason to enforce anti doping rules more. In the end, sport officials need

aggressive mood swings. Teens can have stunted growth, acne, stretch marks, and hair loss on the
head. Woman can get a deeper voice and facial hair. Not only does it harm your body, but it has
consequences too. For example, Lance Armstrong, a famous biker from the USA, admitted to
blood doping and officials took away his medals. Overall, this shows that PED s are harmful and
have consequences which is why people need to enforce the anti doping

Proteins are either complete or incomplete. Those that are complete contain all the essential amino
acids, and dairy products fall into this category. Protein itself is a key macronutrient that helps
repair the tissues and cells in the human body. All dairy products contain protein, but some are
higher than others. The daily recommendation for proteinintake is 0.8g per kilogram of body

databases accessible through the World Wide Web (Table 1), there have been some significant
efforts to integrate these to answer specific questions (e.g., candidate disease geneprioritization1,
tissue specific interaction networks2, etc.). Concomitant with the development of specialized
powerful gene and protein and disease variant annotation databases, there has been an explosion in
the number of publications in the scientific literature. For example, in October 2015, there were
approximately 43000 journals in PubMed (ftp://ftp.ncbi.nih.gov/pubmed/J_Entrez.txt) and more
than 21.5 million PubMed abstracts. Collectively, these resources represent different facets and also
our current knowledge of pathophysiological mechanisms. These heterogeneous and humongous
data resources have spurred the demand for development of robust and efficient computational
approaches to store, process, integrate, analyze, interpret and generate novel hypotheses.
Biological networks share several features (e.g., scale freeness and small world properties) with
social and communication networks3. Hence, the algorithms used for analyzing social networks or
Web networks are equally relevant and useful for processing or interpreting biomedical and omics
networks. The various types of the omics data, such as protein

Charlie Parker Essay
The recording I listened to was the poem Charlie Parker performed by Jack Kerouac and Steve
Allen. This performance is accompanied by a musical rendition that relates to the poem s content,
as the poem is about musician Charlie Parker. Kerouac is performing this poem in memoriam of the
musician. Kerouac describes Charlie Parker in an affluent manner to attest to his musical reverence,
such as calling him a great musician . The soundof the poem and the meaning are greatly
intertwined with one another. The sound is musical and whimsical in nature, as the musicplaying
compliments the poem performance. The meaning of the poem is about the great musician Charlie
Parker and a testament to his life. So the music that accompanies this meaningful... Show more

I thought that Kerouac s musical tone of voice accompanying the music playing really gave the
experience of listening to a song rather than a poetry performance. It had a nice flow to the
performance that added to the songlike feel to this performance when listening to it. I especially
heard this tone in lines, such as we blop and we plop . The use of sound imagery helps in
relating the songlike feel to poetry to the actual musician who is at the center of the poem s
content and meaning. This is not the only imagery seen in the poem, as there are multiple points
in the poem. Kerouac uses imagery as a way to immerse in the poem to give the reader mental
images about Charlie Parker. This can be seen at the beginning of the poem when Kerouac is
describing Charlie Parker, such as the line Charlie Parker looked like Buddha. Kerouac also
used imagery to describe the music of Charlie Parker as well. Kerouac describes the experience
of listening to Charlie Parker play in lines such as like the perfect cry of some wild gang at a jam
session Wail! Whap! . This type of imagery gives the feeling of being at one of the great musician
s performances. This poetry performance was one full of meaning and emotion. The music helped
assist in creating this experience of emotion and meaning to the poem s content. The imagery also
stands out in this performance to help create the vision of emotion and

Illegal Drugs And The United States
On June 18, 1971, United States President Richard Nixon declared a war on drugs. Since then the
United States has focused their efforts on the criminalization and prohibition of drug use,
possession, trafficking, sale, and the production of it. The issues pertaining to the War on Drugs
has become a bigger issue throughout the years due to the United States being the largest market
place for illegal drugs and substances. The United States has spent billions a year on drugwar
policies to help and try to discourage the production, distribution, and consumption of any drugs
that are found illegal in the United States. When it comes to drug use, efforts to lower the use
and flow of illegal drugs in the United States have yet to be succeeded. On the contrary, the use
and production of illegal drugs have only seemed to grow. Sadly, punitive laws have not reduced
the use or the availability of illegal drugs but have actually had collateral damage. Example of
said collateral damage is drug related violence, health epidemics, mass incarceration, and the
waste of law enforcement. Sadly, many have been murdered due to the act of violence between
criminal activity fighting over territory and or power made due to drug trade. Since 2000, the
amount of people living with HIV has tripled due to injecting drugs. In the last 30 years, prison
population, in the United States, has quadrupled and nearly a quarter of federal inmates are
convicted of drugs. Lastly, the amount of money being spent

MAD and Boomerst throughout the Cold War
In the aftermath of World War II, tensions heightened between the two dominant powers: America
and the USSR. The differences between the ideologies of the communist USSR and the capitalist
United States led to a rapid deterioration in relations. The era between 1945, which marked the end
of World War II, to 1991, when the Soviet Union dissolved, became known as the Cold War
due to
the fact that despite the lack of large scale conflict, both sides still feared a nuclear holocaust. Both
the United States and the Soviet Union followed the military strategy of mutually assured
destruction (MAD), meaning that neither side was willing to risk first attack lest the other nation
retaliate massively . The fundamental tenet behind MAD that enabled it to serve as an effective
deterrent was the idea of secondary strike capability. In essence, it was the ability of a nation to
launch a counterattack and thereby ensure mutual destruction. Submarinelaunched ballistic missiles
(SLBMs) fulfilled this criteria admirably due to their ability to stay submerged for extended periods
of time, the difficulty involved with locating a submarine, and their invulnerability to nuclear
missile attacks when submerged. As a result, the United States attempted to corner this leg of the
nuclear triad. In 1949, the United States signed the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO)
with the United Kingdom, France, Canada, and other capitalist states . Through this treaty, the
countries agreed to defend each

Informed Consent And Its Perilous Deception
Informed consent is the process by which a patient is fully informed about all aspects of their
healthcare and has the ability to participate in choices and make an apprise decision regarding their
care. It is the legal right of the patient to direct what happens to them and the ethical duty of the
doctor to involve the patient in their care. My final paper analyzes informed consent and its
perilous deception. I shall present three main points against informed consent by arguing the
complexity of the information given to the patient, the decision making process and lastly patient
competency.
To begin, there are four important pieces of information that the physician must tell a patient to
ensure they are informed; the nature of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This study found that 69% of the participants failed to understand the meaning of randomization.
This type of misunderstanding increases with patients who have limited English proficiency. (p.3)
Who should be responsible to ensure that a patient understands what they are signing? As in all
relationships whether romantic, social, or physician patient there is a responsibility that each
person must have to secure a trusting rapport. In a physician patient relationship, a patient must
uphold to their responsibility of understanding their healthcare. They must be able to communicate
their concerns, voice misunderstanding, and educate themselves. If the counter argument of
removing informed consent is the fear of taking away a patient s autonomy then a patient placing
their understanding in the hands of the physician implies that informed consent is ineffective.
Informed consent foundation is built on the concept of a patient understanding the nature of a
treatment or procedure in order to consent to it.
Which leads me to my next argument of the decision making process. Corrigan writes There are a
number of contributions from medical sociology that draw attention to the complexities of decision
making, and render the medical encounter problematic by discussing the ways in which patients are
often dependent on medical expertise and advice. As stated previously informed consent essentially
relies on the physician patient

The Non Citizen Asian Population Of Uganda
Imagine being given only 90 days to pick up your life and leave a place you call home. The Non
Citizen Asian population of Uganda was given only three months, ninety days to be precise, to
leave the country. Later Asians who were Ugandan citizens were also expelled. Idi Amin s
reasoning for expelling 60,000 Asians from Uganda is still unclear. There are many theories put
forth, but they remain mere speculation. As a result of Idi Amin s erratic behavior, jingoism, and
ruthlessness, Uganda s economic ultimately suffered to this day from this act. In 1971, President
Idi Amin demanded a review of Uganda s Asian community citizenship. In August of 1972, he

when Amin came to power, he made the working conditions better and many of the Asians who

professional Asians from explosion, this was received with trepidation. This last announcement
drove a wedge between the Professional and non professional Asian communities. The professionals
opted to leave voluntarily. Yet another announcement proclaimed that no matter Asian persuasion

Punishment During The Elizabethan Era
The elizabethan era was a pretty tough time to be alive, and so crime was rampant in the streets.
But no amount of crime was worth the large assortment or punishments that were lined up for the
next person who dared cross the line.
Punishment during the elizabethan era was some of the most brutal I have ever seen, and
personally I think it was almost unjustly so, but people back then thought quite the opposite, In fact,
they thought it was fun to watch. These punishments include, but are not limited to; the rack, the
scavenger s daughter, the collar, the iron maiden, branding irons, the wheel, thumbscrews, the
gossip s bridle/the brank, the drunkard s cloak, ducking stools, the pillory, and the stocks, as well
as whipping, burning or branding, pressing, boiling in hot water, oil, or lead, starvation in a public
place, and finally cutting off various parts of the anatomy. I would like to elaborate on (in my
opinion) the worst and/or most brutal ones.
Let s start with the worst. The wheel. It s exactly what ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The Iron Maiden was a big human shaped cabinet that was lined in spikes. People would be put
into this cabinet, and and the doors would be closed, causing the victim to be impaled from
many different angles and would eventually bleed out and die. The only reason this is not on the
top of my list is because it was never proven to be actually used or even to exist. Many believe it
is actually a version of another torture device called the drunkard s cloak that was lined with
spikes, others believe that it was made up by historians who wanted publicity at a museum they
work for.
In conclusion, crime wasn t worth it. No matter how much you got out of a job or something, it
was not enough to compensate for the amount of pain you would be in if you were found out. This
also shows how hard life was back then, the sheer fact that they came up with these devices shows
how much they needed to solve the crime rate during that

Medical Futility
Nurses are faced with ethical dilemmas regarding medical futility often. Physicians, the care
providers, and often the patients family, contribute to the decision making process when medical
futility exists and strive at a correct and ethical decision. Medical futility is generally a term defined
as treatment or clinical interventions that are not likely to result in benefit to the patient or produce
the expected outcome. (Terra, Powell) Applying the concept of medical futility poses significant
ethical and moral predicaments. Central to any discussion about limiting or withholding medical
intervention is essential to clinical utility and the ethical tenets of the patients justice and autonomy.
Health care providers, including nurses, often find themselves in critical situations where the
choice of treatment seems to lie in the hands of the patient s family as the decision makers. In
many of these cases, individuals dictate care and insist on treatments that may or may not be
supported by the medical teams that are involved in that patients care. Medical futility can be
described as interventions that are unlikely to offer a reasonable expectation of recovery or... Show

Many patients and families in this situation have understood that all treatment options have been
exhausted, and the focus then shifts to a peaceful, respectable, and comfortable dying process for

preparing for end of life care decisions falls on them. According to evidence based guidelines for
initiating end of life care planning discussions should be driven by the philosophy of hope for the

Seventy Year Old Minister Essay
My paper is based on the fact that a bomb has been dropped on a city and only ten people have
made it into the bomb shelter. While they are in there they discover that there is only enough
food for seven of them so three of them will have to go. I am speaking in the character of the
armed policemen and I have chosen to take out the Female Vocalist, The Famous Writer, and the
Seventy year old minister. I have chose them for certain reasons that I will explain in the next
couple of paragraphs. The reason I took out the Seventy year old minister is for one he is
Seventy and the life expectancy for a man is Seventy Five so therefore he can go because he will
not be able to help repopulate for long. But he is a Godly man so it would be good to keep him
for the fact that he may teach the future generation for a year or two but I am not to sure they
would understand the word of God that fast. This man also is possibly your weakest link so if
you got into a situation he may not be helpful so that is another reason why I would take him out.

The Inquirery of Sennachrib For the Angel of Death spread his wings on the blast, / And

Destruction of Sennachrib by Lord Byron. In the poem, many different types of literary devises are
used. The Destruction of Sennachrib, by Lord Byron, uses heavy amounts of imagery, metaphor,
and euphemism, and this poem is about a battle that took place, and the aftermath of it. This poem
also has a unique thanatopsis; by using more gentle is of describing the dead soldiers.

Byron uses sensory words to paint a morbid image of death and pain from times past. Lord Byron
uses visual imagery to illustrate the dead soldiers from the battle. And there lay the rider
distorted and pale, / With the dew on his brow, and the rust on his mail: (Byron 17 18). This
quote is more descriptive than just saying that people died. It paints a surrealistic image of the
field. Instead it painted a picture of pain and suffering and a loss of life that makes the reader feel
the sadness of the battle. This also gives the poem a saturnine feeling. This is the third of many
literary devices in The Destruction of Sennachrib.
Imagery is also used in many other parts of the poem. Like the leaves of the forest when Summer

Autumn hath blown,/ That host on the morrow lay withered and strown (Byron 5 8). This is

RNA World Hypothesis
In the early stage of development of life on earth on a molecular basis, some believe that self
replicating RNA molecules acted as the ancestral molecule of life before the more complex DNA
and protein molecules started to evolve and develop. Stronger evidence has supported the
hypothesis of the existence of an RNA world during the origin of life in recent years. The RNA
world hypothesis postulates that RNA molecules were utilised to store and transmit genetic
information, self replicate and to catalyse simple chemical reactions without the help of any other
proteins or molecules and were able to proceed perpetually. They have the ability fold up into a
complex structure which either catalyses a chemical reaction or binds another molecule,... Show

Both of them are used to store and regulate the use of genetic information in a living organism.
They are both constructed using nearly the same molecular structure, having phosphate groups and
sugars linked together to form a phosphate backbone with variable nitrogenous bases utilized to
encode the genetic information, the bases are only differ by an uracil base instead of a thymine
base. DNA, unlike RNA, is not able to catalyse its own replication so they cannot be the primitive
molecules. Also, observing the chemical composition of RNA and DNA, the difference between
the uracil and thymine is the 5th position of the ring structure. Genetic mutation occurred so a
CH3 group was added onto the 5th position of uracil to form thymine. Not only RNA has catalytic
activity as pointed above, it also has the ability to control gene regulation, which is known as
riboswitch. The ribosome is one of the most ancient molecules in our cells. In addition, ribosome is
composed of RNA and a protein called Ribonucleoprotein. If the majority of protein content is
eliminated, protein synthesis could be maintained. Therefore, RNA is the most crucial part of the
macromolecule and this observation is in agreement with the knowledge of ribozymes, RNA with
an autocatalytic capacity. Taken together, it strongly suggests that RNA has a

The School Year Of My Life
It was my sophomore year, and I was once again the new girl in school, the one who was taken

The World s Economic Superpower Essay
War has a way of bringing economies out of trouble. World War II for example, brought the
United States out of the great depression and cemented them as the world s greatest economy.
War, however, has no place on the horizon for China if they want to become the world s economic
superpower. China relies too heavily on foreign influence and investment to take a risk on
nationalistic or militaristic gains. While there are some pro conflict forces who have power within
China, these desires will go unrealized as long as supreme leader Xi Jinping is in power. He
understands the interests of China as how important it is for them to maintain positive international
relationships, especially with technically advanced nations such as Russia and the United States.
The vast extent of international trade through globalization, the large quantity of foreign
investment, and the need for peaceful growth all motivate Xi Jinping to overpower the war prone
forces among ruling groups in China and keep the country on a path towards prosperity, not war. As
one of the great producing nations on this planet, China needs to maintain open and free trading
throughout the world. This open trading and globalization has greatly benefited China as jobs are
created and wealth and power sees unprecedented growth in the country (Wang 234). Beyond
increasing prosperity, China s trade network has given the CCP the opportunity to borrow the
institutions and emulate the practices of the industrialized

Analysis Of John Keats
The Different Perspective
(A Discussion on messages in John Keats poems.) John Keats was a poet in the 1800 s who was
way ahead of his time. Keats left his indelible mark on literature. Even though Keats lived a hard,
short life, it never stopped him from writing good literature. He had no advantages of birth, wealth
or education; he lost his parents in childhood, watched one brother die of tuberculosis and the other
emigrate to America. Poverty kept him from marrying the woman he loved. And he achieved
lasting fame only after his early death in 1821. Yet grief and hardship never destroyed his
passionate commitment to poetry (Hanson) Keats writing was different then other poets of his
time, his meaning and messages were way ahead of his ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
At the end of his life he wrote When I Have Fears That I May Cease to Be that explained their
were many things he wasn t going to be able to do before he died. When I have fears I cease to
be, before my pen has gleaned my teeming brain (1). Keats explains that he knows he is going to
die soon, and is scared that he isn t going to be able to write everything he wants to write before
he passes. Keats ends the poem with explaining that when he is alone he goes to the end of the
earth, or the ocean and stands and looks back on the world. He tries to convince himself that he
doesn t need to accomplish all these things before he dies, but can t conquer the emptiness he feels
because of them. Keats can never overcome the burden of feeling unaccomplished, and tells readers
to not waste their lives away. Right before death John Keats wrote an Ode called Ode to A
Nightingale which portrays the message of just because people die, doesn t mean life ends. In
Ode to A Nightingale Keats is talking to a Nightingale which is one of the only birds awake
during the night. Keats realizes that the bird sings, simply because it is happy. Keats can feel
death coming in his life. My heart aches, and drowsy numbness pains, My sense, as though of
hemlock I had drunk (1). Keats

Personal Synonyms Of Bullying
You are at the end of your rope, and you can t take it any much longer. You are in pain, and you
are suffering, and you feel there is no hope. The first thing that you need to do is to seek the
services of a professional counsellor .
Suicide, the action of killing oneself intentionally. Synonyms of suicide, self destruction, self
murder and self slaughter. Imagine this. Having a best friend since the year 2004, who is so
unhappy with their life. They felt as though they couldn t continue. Imagine this. Receiving a phone
call from your best friends mother saying that your best friend has been admitted into hospital from
an overdose on multiple prescription medications. Imagine this. The feelings and thoughts running
through your head as you run down to your car and speed towards the hospital only to get there
and not be allowed in because you aren t immediate family.
Roughly 3 years ago I was in this situation. I had no idea that my best friend hated herself as a
person, was being bullied so badly to the point that she felt as though that her life wasn t worth
living anymore. She buried her sadness inside herself and talked to her notepad instead of a
human. I found this notepad. I read this notepad. I flipped through the pages with violent words
screaming at me. Sexual assault, drugs, alcohol, bullying, domestic violence. I now knew why she
tried to leave this world, but she was yet to experience the radiant and joyful life that she had
helped me experience.

Bechtel s Greed
In April of 2000 thousands of Bolivians protested that their water supply had been privatized to a
U.S. based corporation, Bechtel, as part of a loan program with the World Bank and the
International Monetary Fund (IMF). Bechtel has vast political influence as demonstrated by how
they made over $1 billion during the Iraq and Afghanistan wars, second only to Halliburton,
largely from no bid contracts. Predictably, this company s greed showed no limits, even in one of
the poorest countries in the world. Water prices skyrocketed immediately to almost double the
previous prices and Bolivians were actually expected to pay Bechtel for collecting their own
rainwater. Even though the new policy was clearly disastrous, the former Bolivian President... Show

to support key military alliances in Central and South America without much media attention. In
fact, every year billions of dollars are spent on U.S. military foreign aid throughout Latin America,
another unofficial stimulus package for the military industrial complex. We re essentially buying
our military and economic allies. From 2005 to 2009, the government spent more than $3.1 billion
on counternarcotics contracts in Latin America. The majority of that funding, $1.8 billion, went
to only five contractors: DynCorp, Lockheed Martin, Raytheon, ITT, and ARINC. The top
recipient from that group, DynCorp, received $1.1 billion. That should be no surprise as
DynCorp is exceedingly connected politically with former executives who include cabinet
members from the Reagan administration, George Shultz and Caspar Weinberger. Also, Bill
Clinton s former drug czar, Gen. Barry McCaffrey, is one of DynCorp s board members. Mexico
is one of the largest recipients of U.S. military aid for counternarcotics operations. Since 2008, the
U.S. has provided training, equipment, and intelligence through the MГ©rida Initiative. This is a
substantial program that has equipped the Mexican government with $2.3 billion in military aid
since 2008. This policy defies common sense as there is a long history of drug corruption in
Mexico. The most powerful cartels have been protected, while their rivals have been targeted by the
Mexican law enforcement. Inserting the Mexican military into the equation only adds another layer

4g Wireless Networks.
4G Wireless Networks
Compare and contrast 3G wireless networks to 4G networks in terms of:
3G and 4G wireless networks can be compared and contrasted by four areas of capabilities:
Service and application, network architecture, data throughput and user perception. Some examples
of services offered by 3G wireless networks are CDMA2000 (also known as IMT MultiCarrier
(IMTMC), Universal Mobile Telecommunications System (UMTS), and EDGE as well as a long
list of others while 4G offer Worldwide Interoperability for Microwave Access (Wimax2) and
Long Term Evolution (LTE Advance). (Jamia Yant, 2012, April 26) 3G applications allows users

The reality is WiMax network availability is only available in select locations. The WiBro network
was created in South Korea to allow people to the internet from anywhere in the country. WiBro
network has a download speed of 40.32Mbps and WiBro was designed to maintain a connection
up to speed of 74 MPH. (WiBro, 2013) This allows users the ability to enjoy broadband Internet
in cars or subways that run at high speeds. WiBro will soon become nearly obsolete with the
advancement of the LTE network being available at lower cost because of the multiple service
providers.
4G LTE Carrier Competition
LTE s security enrichments, minimal dormancy and extraordinary speediness above 3G merely
denote that a consumer will have the ability to manipulate practically any online operation
conceivable on a cellular phone. The limitations of equipment that have caused numerous
operations to be restrained are now issues of the past. Consumers increase in service/carrier
elections is one of the dynamic influences which initiate competition amongst carriers. Additionally,
there are numerous other influences that are triggering added curiosity in cellular technology
nowadays that is additionally propelling such aggressive rivalry. The accessibility of cellular
bandwidth quickness is precisely contending with fixed line admittance technologies (Moscaritolo,
2012). Individuals want to be able to be mobile and on the go, all while maintaining the

Hydration Of Norbornene
This report concerns the acid catalyzed hydration of norbornene to produce exo norborneol. Such
hydration reactions of alkenes typically occur under acidic conditions so that a strong enough
electrophile is available in solution for the nucleophilic double bond on the alkene to successfully
attack it. This is to say, that if this reaction is done in water, with the hydrogen as the electrophile,
the O H bond is too strong for the double bond to effectively attack the hydrogen and detach it. If
instead H3O+ is available in acidic conditions, the extra proton attached to the molecule is the
electrophile; this electrophile is strong enough for the reaction to proceed. After the double bond
attacks the hydrogen, a carbocation forms as the proton attaches to the least substituted carbonof the
ones participating in the double bond. This happens because this allows the more stable carbocation
to form, as the positive charge would then exist on the more substituted carbon. The functional
groups attached to this carbocation donate their electron density to it, thus stabilizing it. This
overall effect is often called the Markovnikov rule. However, in this case the two carbons that are
connected to each other by the double bond are the same in terms of how substituted they are, and
the hydrogen can bond to either of them and still yield the same product. The resulting carbocation
can then be attacked by a water molecule. In theory, water can either attack from the top or bottom

  • 2. Macro Explanations Of Poverty Structural theories, or macro explanations, approach the issue of poverty by focusing on institutional and organizational conditions. Mid level or meta theories bridge the gap between micro and macro, or individual and structural explanations. They connect the individual people and places with the dynamic patterns and relationships that contribute to poverty. Tickamyer provides a number of examples for both kinds of explanations. Modernization is a structural explanation that sees rural poverty as a result of a lack of economic and industrial development. According to modernization, traditional values and practices prevented the acceptance of new technologies and institutions. This point of view looks past the individual and points ... • 4. Public Relations And Communication Management Essay Introduction Grunig (2013) sees public relations and communication management as fundamental to the achievement of organisational goals. A major road and tunnelling project in West Auckland, has required considerable planning and communication with publics. The Waterview Connection Development (WCD) is a motorway link between State Highways 16 and 20, which, in part, runs through tunnels. The WCD aims to provide a direct link between the central business district and the airport, and an alternative to State Highway 1. This essay critically assesses how the New Zealand Transport Authority (NZTA) has communicated with publics during the WCD. It analyses the communication activity, and applies publicrelations theory. Key Publics Major publics with an interest in the project include residents with properties affected by the noise and possible shifts of land, road users who may experience delays during construction, and businesses that may lose of revenue if customers find it difficult to access their premises. Mehta and Xavier (2009) note engagement relationship strategies used with various publics may be different to each other and vary over time as different parts of the project are completed. Project managers need to negotiate with residents, road users and business owners to minimise disruptions. All affected sections of Auckland s multicultural population should be included in the organisation s publics. The diversity model (Mersham, Theunissen, Peart, 2009) ... My Cultural Aspects Of My Identity Imagine that you could split yourself in two in order to be in two different countries at the same time so that you could experience each culture, taste their food, listen to their language and absorb every bit of information that these two places offer. In my case, this is how my mind and my family gatherings feel like. I was born and raised in Ecuadorbut I am also an American citizen. My familyis half Ecuadorian and half American; each has kept their native countries traditions alive within their lives and homes. I grew up listening to different accents, learning two languages and experiencing the best, the worst, and everything in between in both cultures. In the middle of this beautiful and confusing environment I have realized that my dual cultural background has highly influenced my beliefs, decisions, thoughts and actions. Being Ecuadorian American is an essential part of my identity. When I was a child, I thought that every family was similar to mine. At that time, I didnВґt notice the cultural differences that surrounded me; and, I didnВґt know the implications this would have later in my life. In Elementary School, as I began to interact with children to whom I was not related, I realized that while some families were similar to mine others behaved very differently because they were entirely Ecuadorian. In the Greek and Roman section there is many portraits and sculptures including the statue of Emperor Augustus, the statue of Aphrodite, and the Marble female figure. The sculptures in this section range in different shapes, sizes and colors and are made with a variety of materials. The sculptures depict emperors, Kings, Queens, Gods and Goddesses of the time. Much of the statues in this section are missing key parts such as arms, legs and the head due to the fact that they were damaged before being bought to the museum. With the help of case studies of Siemens Electric Motor Works, John Deere Component Works, and Schrader Bellows, Cooper (1989) demonstrated that the management objectives and diversity of product mix determine the extent of the complexity in the design of activity based cost management systems. The competitive environment in which the firm is operating, drives the need for activity based costing. A well designed integrated cost management system will help the management of the company to identify opportunities for continuous improvement and point out unused capacity or capacity constraints, if any, and will facilitate the introduction of activity based budgeting in the organization. The activity based budgeting mindset makes all cost variable and attempts to match resource supply with resource demand. Activity based costing Activity Based Costing (ABC) is a two stage product costing method that assigns costs first to activities and then to the products based on each product s use of activities. , ABC systems first accumulate overhead costs for each organizational activity, and then assign the costs of the activities to the products, services, or customers (cost objects) causing that activity. John Charles Lutwidge Dodgson s The Looking Glass Reverend Charles Lutwidge Dodgson, best known by his pen name Lewis Carroll, has written many novels, poems, and short stories in his lifetime but his most famous for his children s ?nonsense? novels: Alice s Adventures in Wonderland and the sequel Through the Looking Glass. His works, especially the two mentioned, have influenced countless readers over the years, and references to his writings can be found in every type of media from the song ?White Rabbit? by Jefferson Airplane to the the Matrix trilogy. While both books are intended for a child s entertainment, they are full of symbolism and hidden critique. His clever wordplay, use of logic and reasoning, and incredible imagination are all trademarks of his style of writing, which is often referred to as ?literary nonsense.? To readers with little experience with Carroll s work, this term seems to perfectly describe Carroll s confusing and often rambling style, but when more thoroughly inspected, it becomes obvious that this ?nonsense? has a far deeper meaning. Alice s Adventures in Wonderland is about a young girl, Alice, who gets bored doing her multiplication tables one day and follows a white rabbit into a hole. Through this hole, she ends up falling into Wonderland, a place where there are potions and foods that can change the drinker s size, a tea party thrown by a Mad Hatterand a March Hare, and a Caucus race that everybody wins. • 9. U.s. Cuban Relations With Cuba Although Obama s desire for better relations with Cuba is an important factor in the normalization of US Cuban relations, the most important factor is a change in national opinion towards Cuba, a second image analysis. In 1998, a poll by ABC News indicated that 38% of Americans believed that diplomatic relations should be re established with Cuba (Polling Report). A similar poll conducted in 2015 by USA Today/Gallup put that number at 61% (Polling Report). Any political decision is strongly influenced by public opinion. Obama s decision to normalize US Cuban relations is only possible because more people, particularly Cuban Americans, are open to the idea of better relations between the two nations. Historically, many Cubanshave moved to the US to flee persecution and oppression under the dictatorial Cuban government. Traditionally they have been the strongest opponents against US Cuban rapprochement, but in recent decades this opposition has eased considerably. This may be because of a generational shift in the Cuban American community, as second and third generation Cuban Americans have become more tolerant and welcome towards greater openness between the two countries. In 2000, the Elian Gonzalez custody and immigration battle highlighted the anger still prevalent in the Cuban American community. A motherless Cuban boy was returned to his father in Cuba, which incited great fury among the Cuban American community that the government would send a child fleeing Cuba ... The Field Of Bioinformatics Is The Process Of Technology 1.In your own words, describe what the field of bioinformatics is; write one paragraph (about 300 words) about this; be very descriptive. The field of bioinformatics is the process of technology by the use of computers (BioPlanet, 2015). This field manages biological information (BioPlanet, 2015). We all use computers on a regular basis, but computers are capable of much more they can store biological information, gather this information, analyze and integrate genetic information as well (BioPlanet, 2015). All these things can be applied towards drug discoveries like gene based development (BioPlanet, 2015). Bioinformatics just recently became more popular since the availability of genomic information (BioPlanet, 2015). Now, because of the popularity of bioinformatics it has become a very important part of biology in many areas (BMIRC, 2015). In a type of biology called molecular biology bioinformatics is used in the extraction of results and data (BMIRC, 2015). Take another field for example, genetics and genomics, it sequences genomes and observes their mutations (BMIRC, 2015). It also plays an important part in organizing biological and gene data (BMIRC, 2015). Both of these are examples of how bioinformatics is in a lot of areas of biology (BMIRC, 2015).The tools in bioinformatics help in the comparison of data such as genetic and genomic (BMIRC, 2015). • 13. Types Of Health Maintenance Organization Plans Two types of health maintenance organization plans that are readily available are the Staff Model HMO and Group Model HMO, and these plans are often called closed panel plans (Kongstvedt, 2016, p. 63). These HMO plans are considered closed because either the HMO employs the physician, or the physician belongs to the HMO group, thus creating a smaller network for the patient to be seen (Farnham, n.d., Chapter 3). Each HMO plan has its benefits and disadvantages for the physicianand patient. Consequently, depending on what the patient needs to meet their medical needs the Staff Model HMO plan or Group Model HMO plan would benefit them. Furthermore, depending on the particular type of freedom the physician is looking for is what would influence the type of plan they would join. During a Staff Model HMO the physician is employed by HMO network, thus they are salaried employees. Therefore, the physician is paid whether he sees an HMO patient or not. On the other hand, the physician could be very busy and still get the same salary. Sometimes the HMO offers incentives for quality control, so that the physician does not use expensive medical testing (Kongstvedt, 2016, p. 65). Besides the HMO paying the salary of the physicians, the HMO actually owns the medical facilities, equipment, and supplies used by the HMO physician and in some cases the hospital. When it comes to drug use, efforts to lower the use and flow of illegal drugs in the United States have yet to be succeeded. On the contrary, the use and production of illegal drugs have only seemed to grow. Sadly, punitive laws have not reduced the use or the availability of illegal drugs but have actually had collateral damage. Example of said collateral damage is drug related violence, health epidemics, mass incarceration, and the waste of law enforcement. Sadly, many have been murdered due to the act of violence between criminal activity fighting over territory and or power made due to drug trade. Since 2000, the amount of people living with HIV has tripled due to injecting drugs. In the last 30 years, prison population, in the United States, has quadrupled and nearly a quarter of federal inmates are convicted of drugs. Lastly, the amount of money being spent ... • 26. MAD and Boomerst throughout the Cold War In the aftermath of World War II, tensions heightened between the two dominant powers: America and the USSR. The differences between the ideologies of the communist USSR and the capitalist United States led to a rapid deterioration in relations. The era between 1945, which marked the end of World War II, to 1991, when the Soviet Union dissolved, became known as the Cold War due to the fact that despite the lack of large scale conflict, both sides still feared a nuclear holocaust. Both the United States and the Soviet Union followed the military strategy of mutually assured destruction (MAD), meaning that neither side was willing to risk first attack lest the other nation retaliate massively . The fundamental tenet behind MAD that enabled it to serve as an effective deterrent was the idea of secondary strike capability. In essence, it was the ability of a nation to launch a counterattack and thereby ensure mutual destruction. Submarinelaunched ballistic missiles (SLBMs) fulfilled this criteria admirably due to their ability to stay submerged for extended periods of time, the difficulty involved with locating a submarine, and their invulnerability to nuclear missile attacks when submerged. As a result, the United States attempted to corner this leg of the nuclear triad. In 1949, the United States signed the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) with the United Kingdom, France, Canada, and other capitalist states . Through this treaty, the countries agreed to defend each ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 27. Informed Consent And Its Perilous Deception Informed consent is the process by which a patient is fully informed about all aspects of their healthcare and has the ability to participate in choices and make an apprise decision regarding their care. It is the legal right of the patient to direct what happens to them and the ethical duty of the doctor to involve the patient in their care. My final paper analyzes informed consent and its perilous deception. This study found that 69% of the participants failed to understand the meaning of randomization. This type of misunderstanding increases with patients who have limited English proficiency. (p.3) Who should be responsible to ensure that a patient understands what they are signing? As in all relationships whether romantic, social, or physician patient there is a responsibility that each person must have to secure a trusting rapport. In a physician patient relationship, a patient must uphold to their responsibility of understanding their healthcare. They must be able to communicate their concerns, voice misunderstanding, and educate themselves. If the counter argument of removing informed consent is the fear of taking away a patient s autonomy then a patient placing their understanding in the hands of the physician implies that informed consent is ineffective. Informed consent foundation is built on the concept of a patient understanding the nature of a treatment or procedure in order to consent to it. Which leads me to my next argument of the decision making process. Corrigan writes There are a number of contributions from medical sociology that draw attention to the complexities of decision making, and render the medical encounter problematic by discussing the ways in which patients are often dependent on medical expertise and advice. But no amount of crime was worth the large assortment or punishments that were lined up for the next person who dared cross the line. Punishment during the elizabethan era was some of the most brutal I have ever seen, and personally I think it was almost unjustly so, but people back then thought quite the opposite, In fact, they thought it was fun to watch. Physicians, the care providers, and often the patients family, contribute to the decision making process when medical futility exists and strive at a correct and ethical decision. RNA World Hypothesis In the early stage of development of life on earth on a molecular basis, some believe that self replicating RNA molecules acted as the ancestral molecule of life before the more complex DNA and protein molecules started to evolve and develop. Stronger evidence has supported the hypothesis of the existence of an RNA world during the origin of life in recent years. The RNA world hypothesis postulates that RNA molecules were utilised to store and transmit genetic information, self replicate and to catalyse simple chemical reactions without the help of any other proteins or molecules and were able to proceed perpetually. They have the ability fold up into a complex structure which either catalyses a chemical reaction or binds another molecule,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Both of them are used to store and regulate the use of genetic information in a living organism. They are both constructed using nearly the same molecular structure, having phosphate groups and sugars linked together to form a phosphate backbone with variable nitrogenous bases utilized to encode the genetic information, the bases are only differ by an uracil base instead of a thymine base. DNA, unlike RNA, is not able to catalyse its own replication so they cannot be the primitive molecules. Also, observing the chemical composition of RNA and DNA, the difference between the uracil and thymine is the 5th position of the ring structure. Genetic mutation occurred so a CH3 group was added onto the 5th position of uracil to form thymine. Not only RNA has catalytic activity as pointed above, it also has the ability to control gene regulation, which is known as riboswitch. The ribosome is one of the most ancient molecules in our cells. In addition, ribosome is composed of RNA and a protein called Ribonucleoprotein. If the majority of protein content is eliminated, protein synthesis could be maintained. Therefore, RNA is the most crucial part of the macromolecule and this observation is in agreement with the knowledge of ribozymes, RNA with an autocatalytic capacity. World War II for example, brought the United States out of the great depression and cemented them as the world s greatest economy. War, however, has no place on the horizon for China if they want to become the world s economic superpower. China relies too heavily on foreign influence and investment to take a risk on nationalistic or militaristic gains. While there are some pro conflict forces who have power within China, these desires will go unrealized as long as supreme leader Xi Jinping is in power. He understands the interests of China as how important it is for them to maintain positive international relationships, especially with technically advanced nations such as Russia and the United States. The vast extent of international trade through globalization, the large quantity of foreign investment, and the need for peaceful growth all motivate Xi Jinping to overpower the war prone forces among ruling groups in China and keep the country on a path towards prosperity, not war. The majority of that funding, $1.8 billion, went to only five contractors: DynCorp, Lockheed Martin, Raytheon, ITT, and ARINC. The top recipient from that group, DynCorp, received $1.1 billion. This policy defies common sense as there is a long history of drug corruption in Mexico. The most powerful cartels have been protected, while their rivals have been targeted by the Mexican law enforcement. Inserting the Mexican military into the equation only adds another layer of ... • 45. 4g Wireless Networks. 4G Wireless Networks Compare and contrast 3G wireless networks to 4G networks in terms of: 3G and 4G wireless networks can be compared and contrasted by four areas of capabilities: Service and application, network architecture, data throughput and user perception. Some examples of services offered by 3G wireless networks are CDMA2000 (also known as IMT MultiCarrier (IMTMC), Universal Mobile Telecommunications System (UMTS), and EDGE as well as a long list of others while 4G offer Worldwide Interoperability for Microwave Access (Wimax2) and Long Term Evolution (LTE Advance). (Jamia Yant, 2012, April 26) 3G applications allows users the ability to stream video and audio, video conferencing as well as other multi media ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The reality is WiMax network availability is only available in select locations. The WiBro network was created in South Korea to allow people to the internet from anywhere in the country. WiBro network has a download speed of 40.32Mbps and WiBro was designed to maintain a connection up to speed of 74 MPH. (WiBro, 2013) This allows users the ability to enjoy broadband Internet in cars or subways that run at high speeds. WiBro will soon become nearly obsolete with the advancement of the LTE network being available at lower cost because of the multiple service providers. 4G LTE Carrier Competition LTE s security enrichments, minimal dormancy and extraordinary speediness above 3G merely denote that a consumer will have the ability to manipulate practically any online operation conceivable on a cellular phone. The limitations of equipment that have caused numerous operations to be restrained are now issues of the past. Consumers increase in service/carrier elections is one of the dynamic influences which initiate competition amongst carriers. Additionally, there are numerous other influences that are triggering added curiosity in cellular technology nowadays that is additionally propelling such aggressive rivalry. The accessibility of cellular bandwidth quickness is precisely contending with fixed line admittance technologies (Moscaritolo, 2012). Individuals want to be able to be mobile and on the go, all while maintaining the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 46. Hydration Of Norbornene This report concerns the acid catalyzed hydration of norbornene to produce exo norborneol. Such hydration reactions of alkenes typically occur under acidic conditions so that a strong enough electrophile is available in solution for the nucleophilic double bond on the alkene to successfully attack it. This is to say, that if this reaction is done in water, with the hydrogen as the electrophile, the O H bond is too strong for the double bond to effectively attack the hydrogen and detach it. If instead H3O+ is available in acidic conditions, the extra proton attached to the molecule is the electrophile; this electrophile is strong enough for the reaction to proceed. After the double bond attacks the hydrogen, a carbocation forms as the proton attaches to the least substituted carbonof the ones participating in the double bond. This happens because this allows the more stable carbocation to form, as the positive charge would then exist on the more substituted carbon. The functional groups attached to this carbocation donate their electron density to it, thus stabilizing it. This overall effect is often called the Markovnikov rule. However, in this case the two carbons that are connected to each other by the double bond are the same in terms of how substituted they are, and the hydrogen can bond to either of them and still yield the same product. The resulting carbocation can then be attacked by a water molecule. In theory, water can either attack from the top or bottom ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
