Delacroix Of The Renaissance Period
Much of Delacroix s inspiration, like many other artists, came from the Renaissance period artist
Michelangelo. He studied his work closely, reveling in his study of figures as well as the life, and
death, he portrayed on canvas. During the later stages of Eugene Delacroix s life he was
commissioned by the government of France to paint enormous paintings on ceilings of buildings,
which made him feel a closeness with the late Michelangelo. It s said that his intensity rivaled that
of Michelangelo as well. Delacroix went so far as to create a portrait painting titled Michelangelo
in His Studio , this shows the intense influence this artist had on his work as well in his life. In
Delacroix s personal journal he wrote of Michelangelo saying, Familiarity with the work of
Michelangelo has exalted and elevated every subsequent generation of painters. We can trace
Delacroix s artistic heritage back to Rubens and Michelangelo, although his use of colors was a
product of his Venetian schooling. Delacroix s influence throughout the Romanticismart movement
is comparable to that of Michelangelo s influence throughout the Renaissancemovements. Delacroix
spent time studying and embodying Michelangelo s work and found his niche in art by studying
his predecessor s realism. Michelangelo is often recognized as the artist who painted the large and
detailed piece located in the Vatican City. He painted scenes from The Old Testament, and The Last
Judgment in the Sistine Chapel. You can see

The Use Of Chant Therapy Help Increase And Avoid The...
This study was done on the use of chant therapy to help decrease and avoid the symptoms of vocal
fatigue in public school teachers. Vocal fatigue includes two main symptoms; there is a continuous
increase in phonatory use and effort and then a loss in phonation. This condition is often
recognized in other professional voice users such as singers and actors. However, vocal fatigue in
teachers has not been as well known and has only recently been addressed to the public. Reports
from public school teachers indicated symptoms of vocal fatigue shortly after they started teaching.
Coaches, drama, and music teachers are educators that are more susceptible to vocal fatigue.
However, any teacher that has to project and continuously use... Show more content on

All four teachers reported vocal fatigue after a few years of teaching. Teachers were excluded
from this study if they were already in voice training and if they had any organic or acute vocal
pathologies seen on an ear, nose and throat (ENT) evaluation or endoscopic exam. The goal for
this study was to use chant therapy to decrease the individuals fatigue by making it a habit for
them to use differential muscle activity. To meet this goal the authors focused on finding a normal
speaking pitch, increased prosodic accent and a better standard deviation for their fundamental
frequencies. A Voice Range Profile (FRP) was used to find a more efficient speaking pitch. The
pitch targeted was characterized by being in the individual s lower range where the largest
loudness gain was found in the semitone below it. The individuals were taught this pitch and it was
used as the mediation note for chant therapy. The researchers also implemented a placebo therapy.
It included the same amount of non effortful speech as the chant therapy and there were no
environmental or behavioral changes implemented. Each individual was paired with another and
was told to speak to each other in a normal voice for one hour, which was the same amount of time
as the chant therapy. They were then given an end of the session questionnaire and 3 of the 4
subjects stated that they thought the placebo therapy was beneficial. The chant and placebo therapy
included six

Air Pollution Of Beijing And China
Abstract:
In the past few years, the air pollution in Beijing becomes more and more serious. Frequent smog
weather cause social disordered and serious harm to the health of residents. The number of
respiratory diseases increased. Citizens live in a bad living condition. Because of the smog, we
have to stop all outdoor works and activities. It also caused great economic losses. So we must do
some thing to control the air pollution.
Keywords: air pollution, control measures, Beijing
Introduction:
As is well known and commonly accepted, Beijing, as the capital of China, is famous for its
magnificent cultural heritage around the world. However, the problem of air pollution in Beijing is
also the focus of attention.
The air pollution in Beijing has a long history. Trace back to 1966, Zhou Enlai, the most respectable
premier in China, thought Beijing was falling into the trouble of pollution, when he looked at the
smog in the Sky. Unfortunately, in the past few decades, the misgiving of Zhou has been real
that the condition of the air pollution has been getting worse, which has caused negative effect
on the cultural city. For example, the meteorological observation in 1998 showed that the weeks
of air pollution index (API) in the Beijing area which was up to Level 4 increased by 40%, from 14
weeks to 20 weeks in the whole year of 1998 (Huang Guanzheng 36). Back in the start of 2013,
PM 2.5 exceeded the detectable limit for several days (Huang Guanzheng 36). Similarly,

Examples Of Liberalism In 1984
The heavy political climate in America s recent years has sparked an increase in popularity of
George Orwell s novel 1984. Not only is there controversy as to what Orwell depicts in the novel,
but there is also confusion and debate as to what we are seeing in our developing world
presently. While it is easy to hold strong beliefs on each end of the spectrum, it is necessary to
take into account what we can gain from both sides rather than limiting ourselves to one or the
other. The articles provided give two very different perspectives on the book, but what they have in
common is extremity. This novel was without a doubt intentionally written with an underlying
message of extremity in terms of conservatism and liberalism. I strongly believe that Orwell wrote
1984 with both ends of the spectrum in mind to depict a world of radicalism in which chaos and
absurdities are ever so present.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is an extreme reminder that complete faith in government leads to blindness that strips each
individual of humanity and freedom. Nathan Schlueter author of The True Lessons of 1984 ,
defends his conservative viewpoint through evidence found in the novel. Oceania s food rations,
totalitarian rule, and propaganda are prime examples of socialism in 1984. At one point in the
novel, O Brien, the voice of the socialist party, speaks to Winston about the future of society in
Oceania. He states that the primary goal will be to eliminate human experience. He explains to
Winston: Never will you be capable of love, or friendship, or joy of living, or laughter, or
curiosity, or courage, or integrity. Ultimately the purpose of all this would to give control and
power to Big Brother which is a primary sentiment of socialist totalitarianism. 1984 illustrates the
worst of socialism and I think that it is crucial to learn from

Volunteering at a Nursing Home Essay
Volunteering at a Nursing Home
I ambitiously decided that I would brighten the lives of the elderly by volunteering at a rest home,
but discovered that the elderly were being neglected, shoved aside and forgotten. As I stepped into
the home a pungent odor penetrated my nostrils, causing an instantaneous gagging reflex. The place
was abounded with neglected and subdued inhabitants, yearning for attention. Anybody that passed
them caused a sudden outburst of ranting. The negligence and disregard the home displayed
appalled me, but helped me to realize that I wanted to make a difference and change the condition
people live in.
As I walked down the corridor I noticed a man lying in a hospital bed with only a television, two
dressers, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Enchanted by her serene radiance, I did not disturb her. Suddenly she began to speak in a
whispered hum that was more like a song, unique in a dwelling full of ranting outbursts. She spoke
of years long past, swimming in the pond with her sister and dancing in the moonlight. I could
picture all in my head, like I was watching a movie. Then she began repeating the story she had
just told me, and I realized that she was merely talking to herself. Although this discovery
disenchanted me at first, I soon realized that, although the woman was talking to herself, she still
had so many fantastic stories stored in her mind. The residents of the home all had some life
flittering in them and numerous stories to share; they just need someone to listen to them. After
my experience at the home I knew that one of my goals in life would always be o help make sure
that people were receiving proper treatment, and not merely stuffed away and drugged up.
Being in the home was like a separate world, one between life and death. When I reached the
outside world again everything seemed so fresh. There were bright yellow green leaves that hung
with an arrogant vivacity, cars that sped by with such fervor, wind blowing with verve and energy,
lively children playing with a vivacious lust for life, and the vitality that exudes from the air into
your lungs. I wanted to bring this energy into

Collagen IV
Collagen IV, the primary constituent of the basement membrane provides stability and structural
integrity to epithelial and vascular tissues. Additionally, collagen IV plays a vital role in cell
signaling and can be influential in the progression of certain auto immune diseases. Structurally
collagen IV is an oligomer of triple helical protomers that are covalently crosslinked by the means
of sulfilimine bonds. The bond itself has been evolutionarily conserved and has direct contributions
to tissue development as well as autoimmune disease. Given these developments the goal of the
research that contributed to this paper was to find the molecular mechanism by which sulfilimine
bonds were formed. To do so they employed the use of PFHR 9 cells... Show more content on

The purpose of Figure 3 to determine the ability of peroxidasin to biochemically catalyze
sulfilimine bond formation they expressed and purified human peroxidasin. When reacted with
uncrosslinked collagen IV isolates, addition of human peroxidasin led to formation of the dimeric
crosslinked substrate at low enzyme to substrate ratios as depicted in figure 3a. To affirm that the
theorized mechanism of halogenation for sulfilimine bond formation they tested the ability of
peroxidasin to form crosslinks in the absence of halides. As expected minimal crosslinking
occurred, and it was supported that crosslinks formed as a result of halogenation. The rest of
figure 3 investigates the role of peroxidase in hypohalous acid production specifically; HBr and
HCl. Different peroxidases showed preferentiality in which hypohalous acid they formed. If
peroxidasin used these acids to form crosslinks, the intermediates should help trigger the reaction
when staged in an environment lacking in crosslinks. Isolated Collagen IV with HCL and HBR
yielded cross linked subunits. Other peroxidases also formed crosslinks with the exception of
lactoperoxidase because it does not efficiently form hypochlorous or hypobromous acid and
therefore can ont effectively crosslink. The subsequent figures tested whether peroxidasin catalyzed
the formation of the sulfilimine

Mr. Smith s Toy Store
*Chapter One* Mr. Smith s Toy Store There was once a small village in the mountains. It had
little houses all in a row and shops with bright objects in their windows. The baker s window was
full of pies, rolls, and cakes. There was a candy shop with gumdrops, sour candies, candy canes,
and chocolates. But all the children s favorite shop was Mr. Smith s toy store. Mr. Smith was a
fragile looking man, hunched over, a thin white beard grew from his chin, so long it could have
easily been tucked into his belt. He was so thin that you would have thought that a small gust of

Hey Gregory, one of the other children said, this one looks like you. He was pointed at one of
the tin soldiers. It had bright red hair, just like Gregory s, whose face had been smudged so he
looked like he was frowning. Gregory turned towards the boy and scowled. All the children
laughed. He hit the boy as hard as he could and ran away. He took the long way home so he
wouldn t have to help with dinner. He would be scolded for it but he didn t care. On his way he
saw Mrs. Penny watering her daisies. He kicked her pots over and ran away before she could
react. Where have you been, his mother asked when he walked in. No where, Gregory mumbled.
Sit down before your food gets cold. He sat down next to Timothy and across from his father.
Gregory hit Neville at the toy store today, Timothy said merrily. Gregory kicked him under the
table. Did he? his father said. He deserved it. Gregory! his mother scolded. Go to bed, his father

slamming the door behind him. His stomach growled as he flopped onto his bed. How could

Corruption Of Youth In Plato s Apology
Today s society is completely controlled by technology, the news, and social media. So much of
what people learn is from the news. It is so easy for someone to go on their computer in the
morning, pull up CNN, and read about what is going on in the world. The only problem with this
is that CNN can put whatever they desire on their website and portray to their readers their bias.
The most impressionable of these people is the youthof the world. Younger children are the most
impressionable people on the planet, and with social media they are being exposed to the
opinions of the world at such a young age. Social media makes information available at the touch
of your fingertips. All it takes is logging on to a computer and searching whatever you want to
read about. Also, celebrities act ridiculously and become a bad influence on young kids who
looked up to them. In Platos Apology an example of the corruptionof youth it discussed. Socrates
corrupts the youth by telling them his unorthodox ideas that differ from the rest of the society, and
in response the other members of the society claim that Socrates is poisoning the minds of the
youth. The corruption of youth in Plato s Apology is drastically different than how the youth are
corrupted today, and through social media, the news, and how celebrities act the youth of today
become more corrupted.
In Plato s Apology, Socrates is on trial by Meletus about offenses that he has committed against the
state. Socrates is accused of

What are some of the challenges in determining the time of death using insects?
Ans. Some of the challenges in determining the time of death using insects would be keeping the
body in a cold environment which would completely stop decomposition. Another challenge would
be burning the body in a flammable liquid that would damage the body.
2. Why is entomology an important area of forensic science? How can this area help criminal
investigations?
Ans. Entomology is an important area in forensic science because it can prove the time and place
of an incident and can also help in catching the killer.
3. What is the process of collecting insect samples? What challenges are there in collecting samples
of insects from human remains?
Ans. First of all, forensic entomologists get the temperature of the body, and then look for the
presence of maggot mass. They also count in the weather outside the body. The body getting
enough sunlight or none at all makes it a big challenge for them. It can affect the time of when
insects usually tend to appear in the body.

Gothic Elements In The Devil And Tom Walker
The use of Gothic elements in the short story, The Devil and Tom Walker by Washington Irving,
is prevalent. A few examples of the gothic elements found in the text are hidden evil, obsession
with death, isolation, and grim setting. These elements are shown through Tom, Tom s wife, the
devil, and the town and its people. Hidden evil is identified early on in the story and constantly
throughout. The first instance of hidden evil is when the narrator informs the reader of tom s
wife s greed and abusive actions (Irving, 200). Mrs. Walker s evil is exemplified when she takes all
of the family s valuables and running away to make a deal with the devil (Irving, 204). Her greed
and will to make a deal with the devil ended up with Hidden evil of

`` Stolen Legacy, By George James, A Guyanese Historian...
Throughout time, there have been deep misconceptions on who the fathers of philosophy and
greatest contributors to civilization. In the 1954 book, Stolen Legacy, George James, a Guyanese
historian and author, argued that the highly acclaimed Greek philosophy actually originated in
ancient Egypt. James arguments on Ancient Egyptbeing the basis of Greek philosophy will be
discussed as it relates to the goals of Egyptian theory of salvation and Egyptian Mystery system.
The Stolen Legacy begins with uncovering how the Egyptian s held a Mystery System, which was
the oldest in the world considered a Secret Order that required membership and pledged secrecy.
Thus the Egyptians developed secret systems of writing and teaching that if forbade others from
imitating their work. It was not until the Greeks were allowed into the temples that the invasion of
Alexander the Destructor plundered the temples and libraries and allowed the Greeks to gain
access to the ancient books. James further explains that this is where Aristotle built his school of
thought and legacy. In essence, this explanation is the basis of James view.
The education of Egyptian priests and the legacy of the Mystery System show that Egypt was the
source of higher education in the ancient world, futhermore, key Ionian and Italian philosophers
such as Pythagoras, Thales, Democritus had obtained their education from Egyptian priests despite
their acclaim as being the greatest philosophers to date. The teachings of

Chemiluminol Synthesis Lab Report
Abstract During the experiment, there were two tasks performed; the synthesization of luminol and
the display of chemiluminescence. The starting material used was 5 nitro 2,3 dihydrophthalazine
1,4 dione, and after the addition of NaOH, sodium hydrosulfite, acetic acid and water, we were left
with the product of crude luminol.1 Then, the crude luminol was dissolved into a stock solution
that contained NaOH.1 That stock solution A was then diluted with water, which turned it into
solution A.1 That solution was then combined with solution B, a mixture made from potassium
ferricyanide and hydrogen peroxide then diluted with water, which allowed us to observe the blue
light emission that was chemiluminescence.1

Death In Kurt Vonnegut s A Tale Of Two Cities
Death can be seen all throughout life, and all deaths can be for different reasons, whether those
reasons be noble, villainous, or, in most cases, simply neither. Throughout both A Tale of Two
Cities, written by Charles Dickens, and Slaughterhouse Five, written by Kurt Vonnegut, death can
be seen as a common topic betwixt both novels at one point or another, albeit each topic of death
can be very different at times. Charles Dickensis a beloved author, responsible for many classic
works such as A Tale of Two Cities
. He was born February 7, 1812, in Portsmouth, England. He

In Slaughterhouse Five, death is taken in a light manner, and is seen by the main protagonist, Billy
Pilgrim, shows death throughout his experiences in the book as an impermanent and weightless
event, which is the complete opposite of how Dickens portrays death. Throughout Slaughterhouse
Five, Vonnegut places the words So it goes. after every death, or multiple deaths seen at roughly the
same time, eventually explaining this phrase as something the Tralfamadorians say after somebody
because everyone is alive forever, even if at different times, so therefore death is meaningless in the
eyes of those in Slaughterhouse Five. The message about death that Slaughterhouse Five attempts
to bring is far different than the message A Tale of Two Cities attempts to bring. While
Slaughterhouse Five tries to tell us that death is meaningless and holds no weight, A Tale of Two
Cities tries to tell us that death holds a lot of weight in the world, and that in some cases can be the
most meaningful thing in the world. Vonnegut throughout his book takes a tone that is aloof or
uncaring when it comes to death, a tone that tells us that he thinks death is meaningless, or
weightless, whereas we can see that Dickens takes a more serious tone when it comes to death,
showing that he has a deep respect for meaningful death, albeit when when he thinks that there is a
pointless death, his tone changes to one of frustration or chastising. Vonnegut, on the other hand,
keeps the same tone about death throughout the entire book, never changing his tone when an
important death happens, or when a meaningful death occurs, but always keeps the same tone that
says that he believes death holds no weight, in complete contrast to Dickens, who, no matter the
circumstance, whether the death is important or meaningless, always seems to keep some level of
respect for death in the way he talks about it.

What Are The Effects Of The Cold War In The 1940s
At the heart of the rivalry between the United States and the Soviet Union in the 1940s was a
fundamental difference in the ways the great powers envisioned the postwar world. After World
War II countries were in chaos, no one was able to agree on what should happen to the postwar
world. While the Soviet Unionand the United Stateswere allies during the world wars, they were
the one with the biggest issues during the aftermath of the war and their issues ended up becoming
what we now know as the Cold War. Many issues led up to this war and to this day we still suffer
from the war and the American people still fear communism.
To begin with, both the United States and the Soviet Union had their own beliefs about what
would benefit our world during the postwar period. After World War II, both Russia and the
United States competed to be the greatest world power, When two sides competed for influence
and power in this way, the Cold War began. The United States and the Soviet Union were both

Lindbergh Baby Case Study
The Lindbergh Baby Case is a case about a famous aviator, Charles Lindbergh Sr., whose baby
Charles Lindbergh Jr, was kidnapped from his home in New Jersey on March 1, 1932 between
8:00pm 11:30pm. Eventually two and a half years later the guilty party was found. However, in
order for the family to find out what happened to their innocent child they had to use the help of the
New Jersey police department, the FBI, and the New York City police department. Once the
individual was captured it was up to the court systems and corrections to ensure that the guilty party
was charged appropriately. Without the help of the criminal justicesystem the Lindbergh Family
would not have seen justice for their baby.
The first component of the criminal justice system the police, received news of Baby Lindbergh
s kidnapping at 11:30pm on March 1, 1932. Per Schmalleger (2015) the job of police officers is
to investigate crimes, gather evidence, apprehend offenders, and ensure community safety. When
the police received a call at 11:30pm notifying them of the Lindbergh baby being kidnapped, they
went to the Lindbergh s mansion and started an investigation. They questioned everyone in the
home and found evidence of a ransom note asking for $50,000, marks on a window from a
ladder that was used to enter the home, and a chisel gouge that was used to pry open the shutter.
They learned that the baby was pulled from his blanket by his head and they found a clump of

The Culture Of Circle A Builders
The culture of Circle A Builders is very important to us. As stated previously, we do not strive to
be the largest builder in the area. Our company culture is to be honest, respectful, trustworthy,
and to work hard for our customer. We strive to be a member of their building team. This culture
has made it feasible for us to create long lasting relationships with customers who feel
comfortable calling us for any size job, not feeling as if we are unapproachable. They appreciate
our employees, knowing that if Jerry is unable to be at a jobsite that our employees will do just
as good of a job for them, or call Jerry if they have questions. Our work team culture is relaxed,
but with the expectation that it is okay to have fun, but the job needs to be done by the end of
the day. Our employees understand that they each take a part in the responsibility of getting the
job done and having satisfied customers. Strategic Intent As stated previously, our strategic
intent is to remain the size we are. We have the ability to grow, but we feel most comfortable at
the size we are. We understand that if we grow, we will have increased responsibility to our
employees, and our overhead will grow. We are at a comfortable, manageable size for us. It has
taken us a long time to become a strategically sound business. This also continues to allow us to
invest in our alternate course, including rentals and investment properties. If we were to grow our

Term Limits For Congressmen
Term limits should be made for Congressmen because there have been instances where
Senators and Representatives have served 20, 30, 40 and even 50 years in Congress, these
Congressmen seem to become detached from those they represent and hold too much power and
influence in Congress. This undermines the intended purpose of the legislative branch.
Allowing these career politicians to remain their whole lives in Congress give them too much
influence and they might have shared the same ideas as the people they represented when they first
go into office, but they definitely might not have the same ideas and beliefs in 30 or
40 years as the newer generations of the people they represent, a lot can change in 30 to 40 years.

The Supreme Court agreed by a 5 4 vote. The majority and minority had different views of the
federal structure established in the Constitution. Justice John Paul Stevens, writing for the majority
stated that: Finally, state imposed restrictions, unlike the congressionally imposed restrictions at
issue in Powell, violate a third idea central to this basic principle: that the right to choose
representatives belongs not to the States, but to the people. ... Following the adoption of the 17th
Amendment in 1913, this ideal was extended to elections for the
Senate. The Congress of the United States, therefore, is not a confederation of nations in which

Development of an infant from womb to twelve months of age
A mothers nutritional status, before and during her pregnancy has a powerful impact on the
lifelong health for her child. It is now even believed by some researchers say that the 9 months of
pregnancy are the most consequential period of our lives, permanently influencing the wiring of the
brain and the function of organs like the heart, liver and pancreas. They also suggest that the
conditions we encounter in utero shape everything from our susceptibility to disease, to our appetite
and metabolism, to our intelligence and temperament (Kresser). The mother s prenatal care,
nutrition, and precautions taken all play a key role in the child s development for later in life.

Night By Elie Wiesel And Maus By Art Spiegelman
Surviving Life from Compassion from Others For most people, survival is just putting food on
the table. In contrast, prisoners in the Holocaust had to worry about even getting food or even
having shelter, like the Holocaust texts Night by Elie Wiesel and Maus by Art Spiegelman show
vivid examples of how advice from others helped them survive. In life and death situations, others
compassion will increase one s chances of survival.
In the novel Night, compassion from the Kapo and the French Woman gives Elie a greater chance
of survival. In the beginning of the novel, people gave compassion to others even while they
were in life and death situations, and this continued throughout the novel. When the French
Woman is gives advice to Elie, the woman says, Bite your lips, little brother . . . Don t cry. Keep
your anger, your hate, for another day, for later. The day will come but not now . . . Wait.
Clench your teeth and wait . . . (53). The French woman is showing Elie compassion by
consoling Elie that all of this pain will bring you to a day that Elie will be thankful for. The
woman is risking her own safety, by giving advice to Elie to help him survive. When they are
beginning the first selection, the Kapo is giving ways to Elie to pass the selection. During the
first selection, the Kapo states, Before you go into the next room, try to move your limbs, give
yourself color. Don t walk slowly, run! Run as if you had the devil at your heels! (71). The Kapo is

Dealing with the Death of a Family Member
The death of a family member can greatly affect the family system as it creates a void that is
difficult to adjust to. The family experiences a terrible sense of loss, as well as a fear that they
have to carry on with their lives without their loved one (Rotter, 2000). They have a hard time
picturing there knew life and moving on without them. With the familysystem changing it may
destroy the relationships that already exists in the family (Bowlby West, 1983). After the death of
a family member the most difficult time for the family would be the anniversaries. These
anniversaries include the anniversary of the day that the family member died, their birthday as
well as special holidays. These dates are stressful for the family and will be a reminder of the death
(Bowlby West, 1983). The griefprocess that the family system will go through after the death of a
family member may last a long time, especially as they go through the different anniversary s.
Non normative events, such as a child s death by suicide, and accidental death may also make
the grief process more difficult (Rotter, 2000). According to Bowlby (1979) and Parkes (1972)
there are four stages of grief that people will go through during the grief period after the death of
a family member (Bowlby West, 1983). The first phase is a phase of numbness that lasts from a
few hours to a week. They may experience anger and distress as well. They would find it difficult
to cope with tasks because they are preoccupied

Dreams And Sigmund Freud s Theory Of Dreams
There are many theories about why we dream, some say dreams have no meaning or purpose,
others say dreams are required for emotional, physical and mental health. According to the
activation synthesis model of dreaming theory circuits in the brain become activated during the
REM cycle, which causes areas in the limbic system involved in memories, emotions and sensations
become activated (verywell.com/why do we dreamtop dream theories 2795931). Sigmund Freuds
theory on dreams suggested that dreams represented unconscious desires, thoughts and motivations
(verywell.com/Freudian theory 2795845). Though these thoughts are not consciously expressed,
Freud suggested they make their way into awareness via dreams.
Some people have dreams that are so normal that the dreamers feel as if they re awake and
conscious, this is known as lucid dreams. Sometimes dreams are so real it s hard to determine
between the dream and reality.

He believed by examining dreams he can understand how the unconscious mind works and what it
is trying to hide from conscious awareness. Freud broke down dreams into two different types, the
manifest content of the dream and the latent content. The manifest content of the dream contains all
the images, events, and thoughts contained in the dream, this is fundamentally what the dreamer
remembers upon waking. The latent content is all the hidden and symbolic meanings within the
dream. Freud believed that dreams were essentially a form of wish fulfillment, by taking those

How Is The Short Happy Life Of Francis Macomber
Set on an African Safari in the early 1900s, Ernest Hemingway s The Short Happy Life of Francis
Macomber tells the story of a young man and wife, Francis and Margot Macomber, and their
English guide, Robert Wilson, on a hunting trip gone awry. This essay will show how Hemingway s
character tied into the story itself.
Francis Macomber is described as very tall, very well built... and considered handsome
(Hemingway). He and his wife, Margot, clearly do not have a very healthy relationship, and on
various occasions she flirts heavily with Wilson. This story is quite ironic, as in the title it says
Francis Macomber s life was happy, though throughout the story you can see that it very much
isn t. He seems to be miserable in his relationship with his wife but as later on stated, Margot was
too beautiful for Macomber to divorce, and Macomber had too much money for Margot to ever
leave him (Hemingway). On the topic of irony, it can also be seen as ironic when he is ... Show

Macomber felt utter disgust for Wilson. Every time Wilson spoke, Macomber threw back
daggers for words. It annoyed Wilson, for he was unphased by the fact that Macomber knew

the buffalo. As they drove out, Macomber spotted three large buffalo. Wilson told him, We ll cut

began to shoot from his position in the car before being shouted at by Wilson. They jumped out of
the vehicle as it came to a bolting stop, aimed, and began shooting. Macomber struck the first one

Macomber how marvelous he had done. Macomber felt a wild unreasonable happiness that he had

Theme Of Beloved By Toni Morrison
Beloved (1987) is a sensitive novel written by Toni Morrison a renowned Afro American author.
It deals with the forgotten era of slavery and the pathos of black slaves. The novel tells a
wrenching story of a black female slave, Sethe, who kills her own daughter to protect her from the
horrors of slavery. Morrison has excelled in creating her female characters. Her novels show a deep
sense of bonding between the female characters. In Beloved the female bonding and the multiple
layer of meaning in their relationship makes the story emotionally appealing and according to
Barbara Schapira in Contemporary Literature it is the story that, penetrates perhaps more deeply
than any historical or psychological study could, the unconscious emotional and psychic
consequences of slavery. (194). The story touches the social, psychological, philosophical and
supernatural elements of human life.
Toni Morrison is a famous Nobel Prize and Pulitzer Prize winning American novelist, editor and
professor. Her novels are known for her epic themes, vibrant dialogues and richly black characters.

Seasonality is described as systemic and a calendar related effect. In the real world, seasonal
events affect the price and demand for particular products and/or services. For instance,
Christmas is a time when retail stores experience a large influx of consumers. In the last month
of 2005, an estimated 21.1 billion dollars ($500,000 per minute) was spent by Australians
leading up to the Christmas period (Fleur Leyden 2005, Business). In the same way, seasonal
events in World of Warcraft influence price and demand for particular products and/or services.
During Christmas time the cities within World of Warcraft are decorated with trees and
adornments. At the same time players are required to complete quests, in order to progress in the
game, that are only available during this seasonal event. Candles are a major component in
completing these quests. As demand increases so does the price of raw materials to make candles.
By understanding seasonality and its affects, players learn that they can increase there profits by

time is right. Crafting in World of Warcraft is known as a

INTRODUCTION
HIV is one of the leading causes of illness in the United States. It is estimated that 1,148,200
individuals are living with HIV, with about 207,800 or 18% that are undiagnosed and 47,500
newly infected in 2010, in the United States (CDC, 2013). Although there is no cure, treatment is
available through antiviral medications, but access to healthcare is often a major pitfall. Many of
the behaviors that make individuals more vulnerable for HIV, such as IV drug use and illegal
prostitution, also increase an individual s vulnerability to be incarcerated. In 2010, there were
20,093 reported inmates with HIV/AIDS in custody in either state or federal prison (HIV in
Prisons, 2012). Although this number has decreased since the previous census count of 20,880
individuals imprisoned in either state or federal custody, this still does not take into account the
individuals that are released from prison and are required to seek a continuation of treatment on
their own. In 2012, the number of admissions to state and federal prison in the United States was
609,800 offenders. The number of releases from U.S. prisons in 2012 (637,400) exceeded that of
admissions for the fourth consecutive year (Prisoners in

Identity Based Encryption is a public key encryption scheme where any string can be a users
email address or name. The advantage of Identity Based Encryption is no certificate is needed to
bind names to public keys. This feature may help to launch a public key infrastructure since
receiver does not have to obtain public key and certificate before receiving encrypted
communication. The sender can use receivers Id as its public key and does not need to obtain and
verify certificate on the recipient s public key.
5. Advantages of ECC over RSA
A. Security
The main advantage ECC has over RSA is that the essential operation in ECC is point addition
and it is computationally very costly. To maintain the same security degree the bits number will
increase in RSA generated key pair. We can see from below figure that RSA should use 3072 bit
while 256 bit for ECC. Hence ECC is more secure than RSA.
B. Space Requirements
Because increasing computation is needed for higher bit encryption more transistors are needed
onboard the smart card to achieve operation. This causes growth in the area of employed
processors. By ECC transistor number can be cut back on since numbers required are much
smaller than RSA with similar level of security. Bandwidth requirements are same for RSA and
ECC when message is long but when message is short ECC is

The Relations Between Syria And Lebanon
The post 9/11 world has bought about huge changes throughout the Middle East and many countries
are experiencing challenges unprecedented since the end of the Second World War. United States
foreign policy, the rise of Islamic fundamentalism, and the geopolitical struggle between Iran and
Saudi Arabia throughout the Middle Easthas made the region politically unstable and ripe with
conflict and human suffering. This dire situation is a great example of how interconnected the
relationships of Middle Eastern countries are and how these relations often disseminate out and
affect the region as a whole. As such, an analysis of the bilateral relations between two Middle
Eastern countries allows us to partly understand how, when given historical context, this situation
came to be and what factors influence these relationships.
The bilateral relationship between Syria and Lebanon provides a great and unique analysis of the
factors that influence relationships between Middle Eastern states because of their shared but
complicated history. Both these countries used to be one in the same up until the early twentieth
century and their relations have gone through various evolutionary stages that have had a greater
political impact on the region altogether. In this paper I will examine the relationship between Syria
and Lebanon and seek to explain the key factors that influence this relationship.

Known as a mental disorder a phobia is a persistent fear of a specific object, activity, or situation
that leads to compelling desire to avoid it. Phobias tend to affect the way people live their lives,

Perhaps the most astounding findings across this literature review were how music improved the
quality of life for almost all patients studied. Sole, Mercadal Brotons, Galati, and De Castro (2014)
specifically focused their study on using music therapy to improve quality of life. During twelve

UK and Gibraltar. The result was decided by 33,577,342 eligible voters. 17,410,742 voters voted to
leave the European Union; 16,141,241 voters voted to remain in the European Union. On 24 June
2016, Jenny Watson, the Chief Counting Officer, announced the final result of the referendum
leave. This was a breaking news, and it caused a global attention. Countless information and news
were reporting by social media and networking. David William Donald Cameron, Prime Minister of
the United Kingdomissued a statement in 10 Downing Street that he will resign in October, and
he would continue to service to the British public in the coming weeks and month. He hopes that
the new Prime Minister leads the UK toward a right direction under the new situation. Meanwhile,
the global economy and international currency were affected by the referendum. Global stock
markets were falling down drastically and the British Pound did drop from $1.50 to $1.35, which
was the lowest value since the 1980s. Investors also lost heavily. For example, many financial
analysts think that like Warren Buffett and other successful investors probably lost billions of
dollars on average after the vote. In April 1975, there was a similar referendum held in the UK. At
that time, 67.2 percent of voters approved that the UK ought to stay in the European Union. After
forty one years, the result is different. The desire to

Jaws Movie Review Essay
I was 13 years old. I was glued to my seat from start to finish. I screamed, I jumped, I held my
breath, and much more. In my 13 years old body, there were so many experiences emotions. Jaws
was probably the first film where I completely forgot everything around me. If this movie scares
you to the point where you cannot go back to the water, then Spielberg has done a job well done.
First thing, Jaws is not only about a shark. It is a film that flipped the standards for what we
expect when we watch horror films. It is important to look at the opening titles of any film
because the openings give you an idea of what you ll see in the movie. The simplicity is what
makes Jaws such a great film. Spielberg is showing us how people react, and the emotional
response we have as an audience comes because we have empathy for the characters feelings.
It is important to understand the characters to understand the film. Spielberg spend over half of the
movie developing characters and conflict. At it makes the audience even more attached to the
character. The three main characters are Brody (Roy Scheider), the police chief, who came to the
island from new york. He is much a family man and his determination to protect his family is what
drives him to kill the beast aka jaws. There s Quint (Robert Shaw), much more of a flawed

The setting was on a small island known as Amity in the summertime. The film tells the story of
chief Brody played by Roy Scheider who stands as the Island chief of police as the town is

shark lurks in the water and preys upon innocent swimmers. The locals did not know what was
killing the innocent swimmers. In the opening scene we never see the shark and we do not see the
shark until over an hour into the film. We see other sharks before then, but never THE shark aka

The Growing Concerns And Uncertainties Over Joshua s...
The growing concerns and uncertainties over Joshua s leadership spiraled in Deuteronomy, and
God ordered Moses to encourage Joshua. The result is an abundance of inspiring texts that Joshua
surely needed (Angel, 2009):
Joshua son of Nun, who attends you, he shall enter it. Imbue him with strength, for he shall allot it
to Israel (Deuteronomy 1:38).
Give Joshua his instructions, and imbue him with strength and courage, for he shall go across at
the head of this people, and he shall allot to them the land that you may only see (Deuteronomy
3:28).
Then Moses called Joshua and said to him in the sight of all Israel: Be strong and resolute, for it is
you who shall go with this people into the land that the Lord swore to their fathers to give them,
and it is you who shall apportion it to them (Deuteronomy 31:7).
And He charged Joshua son of Nun: Be strong and resolute: for you shall bring the Israelites into
the land that I promised them on oath, and I will be with you (Deuteronomy 31:23).
These fears are carried over into the Book of Joshua. After Moses died, God encouraged Joshua to
be strong and resolute three times in four verses (Angel, 2009):
Be strong and resolute, for you shall apportion to this people the land that I swore to their fathers
to assign to them. But you must be very strong and resolute to observe faithfully all the Teaching
that My servant Moses enjoined upon you . . . . I charge you: Be strong and resolute; do not be

The World s Self Conscious And The Healing Process
Historical Relevance. Our century s self conscious interest in culture and society has produced
valuable attempts to retell the Western past with the aid of such organizing principles as
technological change, art collecting (Barzun, 1990, p. xiii) Considering modern globalization
trends, technology and data flow, the comparative historical approach has identified general
features of the modern capitalist economy (Bentz Shapiro, 1998, p.134) as more relevant. Trends
from Sigmund Freud(1856 1939) stressed the importance of the unconscious mind. In context of his

Questioning the female psyche can lead to recognizing unconscious thinking, which differs from
males. Through historical inquiry, uniqueness of actions, ideas, and force (give) rise to this
phenomenon (Bentz Shapiro, 1998, p.136) may reveal more. Weber explored how societies stayed
together, but he did not explore issues of art and health. The study of the future is part of historical
inquiry (Bentz Shapiro, 1998, p.136). Reflecting on the beginning of recorded history, research can
better explore and focus on the growth of knowledge and understanding as in the role of media. By
exploring the history of feminism, gender roles, structure and power disclose. Probing the female
psyche further, the legitimacy of art based therapies can unfold female s unconscious thinking about
their well being.
Research Findings. Researchers Stuckey and Nobel conducted a historical review of research from
1995 to 2007. They also were attentive to literature review from 1970 to 1995 on PubMed (MeSH

imprisoned populations or other ailments. They described the principal categories of creative

Comparing News Networks In ABC, CNN, CBS, And Fox
The public get their news from networks such as ABC, CNN, MSNBC, CBS, NBC, and Fox.
One of the differences between all these networks is all of the networks get fairly amount of
viewers from which many of the most popular in the country like to go from right or left. CNN,
ABC, CBS, and NBC have audiences that lean left while the audience on fox lean toward
conservative. Another one is the if these networks are being truthful or if what their telling the
audience is fake. A poll by Rasmussen declared that CNN is the least trusted news network on
cable television (Tapson 1). The poll also showed that Fox news was trusted at fifty percent and
MSNBC was trusted by forty three percent (Tapson 1). One network will telling a viewer how a

Marie Ationnette was born as the 15th child into the Austrian royal family in 1755. At the early
age of 14, she was married off in 1770 to the dauphine of France, Louis. At 19 she became queen of
France, becoming an embodiment of the ancien regime, eventually becoming the symbol of the
excesses of the monarchy and their irresponsible spending, earning her the name of Madame deficit.
Marie Ationnette was significant to the revolution, for her symbolism of lavish spending, her
scandals, and her role in the march of the women provoked the people to overthrow the Monarchy.

Her life as queen is described in detail in the textbook, however it sheds little light on why she is
significant. I believe it missed some key points as to why she is significant to the french revolution.
Although it talks about how the Affair of the diamond necklace angered people, it doesn t talk
about how her extravagant spending infuriated people enough to the extent that they blamed her for
their poverty. I believe that this should be mentioned because it is one of the reasons that people
started to rebel against the monarchy. Another key detail the textbook missed is her involvement in
the March of the Women. Without the rumour of her hoarding bread, the Monarchy and National
Assembly would never have moved to paris which signified the change in power and reforms.
Lastly, the fact that she fired Turgot was briefly explained, however it affected the taxations system
in France heavily. had she not fired him, the Nobles would have been taxed, which could have
brought France out of debt, which is very significant. Because Marie Ationnette heavily influenced
the French revolution, she should have been talked about more in the

The Lack Of Affordable Housing
The lack of affordable housing in the United States is a problem that doesn t receive nearly the
attention that it necessitates. This absence of affordable housing became especially prevalent
following World War II when suburbanization spread across the country like wildfire. Although the
sheer number of homes increased, Jim Crow segregation influenced housing policy, meaning that
white institutions prevented blacks from obtaining the mortgages needed to afford such homes.
Therefore, rather than accept subprime loans, which often result in foreclosure, many black people
have been pigeonholed into paying exorbitant rates for dilapidated rental properties located in inner
cities, thereby creating the affordable housingproblem. Although the situation seems bleak, with
careful planning and execution, we can solve the affordable housing problem. Specifically, my
proposal involves the following two components: the government must first revise and draft three
forms of legislation that create strict yet concise standards that landlords must follow, and then
allocate federal funding to health and wellness programs within poor communities. By examining
the contributing societal factors to the lack of affordable housing in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, and
then implementing the proposal mentioned above, one could potentially solve the affordable
housing problem there and transpose the plan to other impoverished cities across the country.
Landlords in Milwaukee are cognizant of the

Alexie depicts the life of several Indian s lives, living on the Spokane Indian reservation many of
whom face discriminationon a daily basis. The ideas behind the bigotry in the assortment of

In Alexie s vignette, Indian Education , these themes of racism and discrimination come up very
often when Victor describes the challenges he faced going through school. Victor recalls how his
second grade teacher made him ...stay in for recess for fourteen days straight. (Alexie 172) but he
explains that he didn t do anything to deserve a punishment like this. In this situation, Victor s
teacher is denying him a privilege because of his race. In another circumstance, Victor s teacher
makes Victor apologize for Everything (Alexie 172) she then makes Victor ...stand straight for
fifteen minutes, eagle armed with books in each hand. (Alexie 172 173). During this situation,
Victor is forced to perform a specific action as punishment for nothing, this unjust treatment of
Victor sparks from the grounds of his race. Once again in second grade, Victor receives another
chastisement out of the disapproval of his ethnicity when his teacher, ...crumpled up the paper and
made me eat it. (Alexie 173). Lastly, Victor s teacher, not accepting Victor s cultural differences,
She sent a letter home with me that told my parents to either cut my braids or keep me home from
class. (Alexie 173). Victor s braids are symbols of his culture and ethnicity, and when Victor s
teacher threatens to take away his education if they are not removed, discrimination against Victor
is very prominent.

Similarities Between Easter And Greek Easter
Come every April, I would throw on my clothes and run out to our Dolmades tree to pick leaves
to prepare for our traditional dinner. My grandfather grew up in Sparta Greece. He grew up
celebrating a different occasion that most people do not. Most families across the world,
celebrate a tradition known as Easter. The whole family comes over, turkey and mashed potatoes
are spread out all over the table, and you re waiting for the moment your mom tells you that it s
time to eat. However, my family is different. Instead of celebrating Easter we celebrate Greek
Easter. Both are quite similar in ways but have very different traditional values and most
importantly, food.
Initially, my grandfather would celebrate Greek Easter when he was a child and then brought
the tradition to my family. However, the food prepared wasn t easily accessible to him when he
was a child. Growing up in Greece, food and money were scarce. To add, he grew up during
World War I, soldiers would scavenge through his village frequently. Roaming house to house
taking any supplies and food they could get their hands on. With that being said, in order to
celebrate Greek Easter, he had to find leaves, rice, and all the essential needs to prepare the food.
Walking through town barefoot, he would only find limited supplies to make the food. Like
Jonathan Safran Foer said in Storytelling In the forests of Europe, she ate to stay alive until the

The Importance Of Agriculture In Schools
I think agriculture can help schools. Through Agriculture in Schools, students ages 10 14 and their
teachers receive training in best practices, including compost making, proper sowing and
cultivation. Students who participate learn to appreciate the great importance and dignity of
agricultural work. Agriculturewill help with fresh ingredients; young people often have a poor
opinion of agricultural work. Clearly, this could be the answer to teach students, how to be able to
grow more food of better nutritional quality. Agriculture should be an elective or even a
requirement at schools.
Many students who has grow in farms specially, do not want to have agriculture as a courses,
because they aspire to break away from what they consider a financially and morally impoverishing
vocation. So, an option could be to have agriculture, as a club where student interested on learning
more about agriculture, which is the cultivation and breeding of animals, plants and fungi (fungus)
for food, fiber, biofuel, medicinal plants and other products used to sustain and enhance human life.
So with this information, do you believe agriculture can help schools?
First and foremost it would create fresh ingredients, because they could cook with fresh
vegetables like garlic, carrots, and corn. They could help with fruits like apples and oranges. They
wouldn t have to order the fruits and vegetables. They would be able to get it while saving money.
They can get it whenever they need it once it s

Camus Philosophical View Of Absurdism In Meursault s The...
The Stranger reflects Camus philosophical stance as an absurdist. There is no logical meaning to
life, there is no higher order or law governing it or people, and there is no rational explanation to
the chaos as according to The Stranger. There is no truth no certainty nor any unwavering non
relative laws in life and there is no sense in pursuing such impossibilities. This is shown through
camus s main character Meursault. No opening sentences of the novel and body somersaults
absurdist outlook on life, his emotional indifference and detachment to people, and his passive be
quiet alienation from the rest of society. he doesn t even know which day his mother died and to

The reality came to him after he had a conversation with the chaplain who seemed to play the

faltered. And this voice didn t falter either when he said have you no hope at all? And do you
really live with the thought that when you die you die and nothing remains? Yes I said. (Camus
117). Those who don t play the game don t win. the trial is not about Justice for the Arab the
murder victim but the people playing the roles set out in the unwritten rules of the game.
Camus Philosophical thought on absurdism is not shown throughout this novel. Though camus
does not explicitly refer to the notion of absurdity, the events of absurdity operate within the
novel. Neither the external World in which Meursault lives nor the internal world of his thoughts
possesses any rational order. Meursault has no discernible reason for his actions, such as his
decision to marry Marie or his decision to kill the Arab. For the first time baby, I really thought I
was going to get married. (50). This quotation shows the true unpredictability of this novel, and with
that it shows how life can be so absurd. Though the stranger is a work of fiction, it contains a strong
sense of camus philosophical notion of absurdity. Though critics still argue that absurdism is
essentially meaningless because acceptance of it entails life without meaning. This,

Meaning Of Happiness
There s no question that everyone wants to be happy within their lives. The only source of
disagreement lies within how one achieves happiness and what happiness really means. The
authors within the book Pursuing Happiness have their own meanings of happiness and what it
takes to achieve happiness. Topics such as: what happiness is, what brings happiness, what role
does money play in happiness, etc. In this first discussion, we see what the some of the authors
have to say about the meaning of happiness. Someone such as his Holinessthe Dalai Lamawould
argue that happiness is having peace and satisfaction within one s mind. As a tibetan monk, he
believe that happiness occurs within the self (Dalai Lama and Cutler 23). In contrast, Thomas
Jeffersonwould explain that happiness is actually the opportunity to freely choose one s path
within life. Freedom, in eyes, would be the embodiment of freedom (Declaration of
Independence). In would also argue that happiness stems from the feeling of self worth, that you
have a place within this world. As we see here, the true meaning of happiness all depends on the
person. There is no right or wrong answer because we each perceive happiness in a different
manner. This is important because it also means that there are different opinions in which someone
can achieve happiness. When it comes to achieving happiness, there are two things to consider;
physical and spiritual. Some people believe that happiness can come from material

  • 2. Delacroix Of The Renaissance Period Much of Delacroix s inspiration, like many other artists, came from the Renaissance period artist Michelangelo. He studied his work closely, reveling in his study of figures as well as the life, and death, he portrayed on canvas. During the later stages of Eugene Delacroix s life he was commissioned by the government of France to paint enormous paintings on ceilings of buildings, which made him feel a closeness with the late Michelangelo. It s said that his intensity rivaled that of Michelangelo as well. Delacroix went so far as to create a portrait painting titled Michelangelo in His Studio , this shows the intense influence this artist had on his work as well in his life. In Delacroix s personal journal he wrote of Michelangelo saying, Familiarity with the work of Michelangelo has exalted and elevated every subsequent generation of painters. We can trace Delacroix s artistic heritage back to Rubens and Michelangelo, although his use of colors was a product of his Venetian schooling. Delacroix s influence throughout the Romanticismart movement is comparable to that of Michelangelo s influence throughout the Renaissancemovements. Delacroix spent time studying and embodying Michelangelo s work and found his niche in art by studying his predecessor s realism. Michelangelo is often recognized as the artist who painted the large and detailed piece located in the Vatican City. He painted scenes from The Old Testament, and The Last Judgment in the Sistine Chapel. You can see ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. The Use Of Chant Therapy Help Increase And Avoid The... This study was done on the use of chant therapy to help decrease and avoid the symptoms of vocal fatigue in public school teachers. Vocal fatigue includes two main symptoms; there is a continuous increase in phonatory use and effort and then a loss in phonation. This condition is often recognized in other professional voice users such as singers and actors. However, vocal fatigue in teachers has not been as well known and has only recently been addressed to the public. Reports from public school teachers indicated symptoms of vocal fatigue shortly after they started teaching. Coaches, drama, and music teachers are educators that are more susceptible to vocal fatigue. However, any teacher that has to project and continuously use... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... All four teachers reported vocal fatigue after a few years of teaching. Teachers were excluded from this study if they were already in voice training and if they had any organic or acute vocal pathologies seen on an ear, nose and throat (ENT) evaluation or endoscopic exam. The goal for this study was to use chant therapy to decrease the individuals fatigue by making it a habit for them to use differential muscle activity. To meet this goal the authors focused on finding a normal speaking pitch, increased prosodic accent and a better standard deviation for their fundamental frequencies. A Voice Range Profile (FRP) was used to find a more efficient speaking pitch. The pitch targeted was characterized by being in the individual s lower range where the largest loudness gain was found in the semitone below it. The individuals were taught this pitch and it was used as the mediation note for chant therapy. The researchers also implemented a placebo therapy. It included the same amount of non effortful speech as the chant therapy and there were no environmental or behavioral changes implemented. Each individual was paired with another and was told to speak to each other in a normal voice for one hour, which was the same amount of time as the chant therapy. They were then given an end of the session questionnaire and 3 of the 4 subjects stated that they thought the placebo therapy was beneficial. The chant and placebo therapy included six ... • 5. Air Pollution Of Beijing And China Abstract: In the past few years, the air pollution in Beijing becomes more and more serious. Frequent smog weather cause social disordered and serious harm to the health of residents. The number of respiratory diseases increased. Citizens live in a bad living condition. Because of the smog, we have to stop all outdoor works and activities. It also caused great economic losses. So we must do some thing to control the air pollution. Keywords: air pollution, control measures, Beijing Introduction: As is well known and commonly accepted, Beijing, as the capital of China, is famous for its magnificent cultural heritage around the world. However, the problem of air pollution in Beijing is also the focus of attention. The air pollution in Beijing has a long history. Trace back to 1966, Zhou Enlai, the most respectable premier in China, thought Beijing was falling into the trouble of pollution, when he looked at the smog in the Sky. Unfortunately, in the past few decades, the misgiving of Zhou has been real that the condition of the air pollution has been getting worse, which has caused negative effect on the cultural city. For example, the meteorological observation in 1998 showed that the weeks of air pollution index (API) in the Beijing area which was up to Level 4 increased by 40%, from 14 weeks to 20 weeks in the whole year of 1998 (Huang Guanzheng 36). Back in the start of 2013, PM 2.5 exceeded the detectable limit for several days (Huang Guanzheng 36). Similarly, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Examples Of Liberalism In 1984 The heavy political climate in America s recent years has sparked an increase in popularity of George Orwell s novel 1984. Not only is there controversy as to what Orwell depicts in the novel, but there is also confusion and debate as to what we are seeing in our developing world presently. While it is easy to hold strong beliefs on each end of the spectrum, it is necessary to take into account what we can gain from both sides rather than limiting ourselves to one or the other. The articles provided give two very different perspectives on the book, but what they have in common is extremity. This novel was without a doubt intentionally written with an underlying message of extremity in terms of conservatism and liberalism. I strongly believe that Orwell wrote 1984 with both ends of the spectrum in mind to depict a world of radicalism in which chaos and absurdities are ever so present.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It is an extreme reminder that complete faith in government leads to blindness that strips each individual of humanity and freedom. Nathan Schlueter author of The True Lessons of 1984 , defends his conservative viewpoint through evidence found in the novel. Oceania s food rations, totalitarian rule, and propaganda are prime examples of socialism in 1984. At one point in the novel, O Brien, the voice of the socialist party, speaks to Winston about the future of society in Oceania. He states that the primary goal will be to eliminate human experience. He explains to Winston: Never will you be capable of love, or friendship, or joy of living, or laughter, or curiosity, or courage, or integrity. Ultimately the purpose of all this would to give control and power to Big Brother which is a primary sentiment of socialist totalitarianism. 1984 illustrates the worst of socialism and I think that it is crucial to learn from ... • 7. Volunteering at a Nursing Home Essay Volunteering at a Nursing Home I ambitiously decided that I would brighten the lives of the elderly by volunteering at a rest home, but discovered that the elderly were being neglected, shoved aside and forgotten. As I stepped into the home a pungent odor penetrated my nostrils, causing an instantaneous gagging reflex. The place was abounded with neglected and subdued inhabitants, yearning for attention. Anybody that passed them caused a sudden outburst of ranting. The negligence and disregard the home displayed appalled me, but helped me to realize that I wanted to make a difference and change the condition people live in. As I walked down the corridor I noticed a man lying in a hospital bed with only a television, two dressers, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Enchanted by her serene radiance, I did not disturb her. Suddenly she began to speak in a whispered hum that was more like a song, unique in a dwelling full of ranting outbursts. She spoke of years long past, swimming in the pond with her sister and dancing in the moonlight. I could picture all in my head, like I was watching a movie. Then she began repeating the story she had just told me, and I realized that she was merely talking to herself. Although this discovery disenchanted me at first, I soon realized that, although the woman was talking to herself, she still had so many fantastic stories stored in her mind. The residents of the home all had some life flittering in them and numerous stories to share; they just need someone to listen to them. After my experience at the home I knew that one of my goals in life would always be o help make sure that people were receiving proper treatment, and not merely stuffed away and drugged up. Being in the home was like a separate world, one between life and death. When I reached the outside world again everything seemed so fresh. There were bright yellow green leaves that hung with an arrogant vivacity, cars that sped by with such fervor, wind blowing with verve and energy, lively children playing with a vivacious lust for life, and the vitality that exudes from the air into your lungs. I wanted to bring this energy into ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. Collagen IV Collagen IV, the primary constituent of the basement membrane provides stability and structural integrity to epithelial and vascular tissues. Additionally, collagen IV plays a vital role in cell signaling and can be influential in the progression of certain auto immune diseases. Structurally collagen IV is an oligomer of triple helical protomers that are covalently crosslinked by the means of sulfilimine bonds. The bond itself has been evolutionarily conserved and has direct contributions to tissue development as well as autoimmune disease. Given these developments the goal of the research that contributed to this paper was to find the molecular mechanism by which sulfilimine bonds were formed. To do so they employed the use of PFHR 9 cells... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The purpose of Figure 3 to determine the ability of peroxidasin to biochemically catalyze sulfilimine bond formation they expressed and purified human peroxidasin. When reacted with uncrosslinked collagen IV isolates, addition of human peroxidasin led to formation of the dimeric crosslinked substrate at low enzyme to substrate ratios as depicted in figure 3a. To affirm that the theorized mechanism of halogenation for sulfilimine bond formation they tested the ability of peroxidasin to form crosslinks in the absence of halides. As expected minimal crosslinking occurred, and it was supported that crosslinks formed as a result of halogenation. The rest of figure 3 investigates the role of peroxidase in hypohalous acid production specifically; HBr and HCl. Different peroxidases showed preferentiality in which hypohalous acid they formed. If peroxidasin used these acids to form crosslinks, the intermediates should help trigger the reaction when staged in an environment lacking in crosslinks. Isolated Collagen IV with HCL and HBR yielded cross linked subunits. Other peroxidases also formed crosslinks with the exception of lactoperoxidase because it does not efficiently form hypochlorous or hypobromous acid and therefore can ont effectively crosslink. The subsequent figures tested whether peroxidasin catalyzed the formation of the sulfilimine ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The baker s window was full of pies, rolls, and cakes. There was a candy shop with gumdrops, sour candies, candy canes, and chocolates. But all the children s favorite shop was Mr. Smith s toy store. Mr. Smith was a fragile looking man, hunched over, a thin white beard grew from his chin, so long it could have easily been tucked into his belt. All the children laughed. He hit the boy as hard as he could and ran away. He took the long way home so he wouldn t have to help with dinner. He would be scolded for it but he didn t care. On his way he saw Mrs. Penny watering her daisies. He kicked her pots over and ran away before she could react. Where have you been, his mother asked when he walked in. No where, Gregory mumbled. Sit down before your food gets cold. He sat down next to Timothy and across from his father. Gregory hit Neville at the toy store today, Timothy said merrily. Gregory kicked him under the table. Did he? his father said. He deserved it. Gregory! his mother scolded. Go to bed, his father said. I m not done yet. Go to bed. Fine. Gregory got up from the table and stomped to his room slamming the door behind him. His stomach growled as he flopped onto his bed. How could they be mad at him? If he ever told on Timothy for doing something wrong, he would get in trouble for not keeping a good eye on him, or for not being a perfect role model! It just wasn t fair! The only problem with this is that CNN can put whatever they desire on their website and portray to their readers their bias. The most impressionable of these people is the youthof the world. Younger children are the most impressionable people on the planet, and with social media they are being exposed to the opinions of the world at such a young age. Social media makes information available at the touch of your fingertips. All it takes is logging on to a computer and searching whatever you want to read about. Also, celebrities act ridiculously and become a bad influence on young kids who looked up to them. In Platos Apology an example of the corruptionof youth it discussed. Socrates corrupts the youth by telling them his unorthodox ideas that differ from the rest of the society, and in response the other members of the society claim that Socrates is poisoning the minds of the youth. The corruption of youth in Plato s Apology is drastically different than how the youth are corrupted today, and through social media, the news, and how celebrities act the youth of today become more corrupted. In the 1954 book, Stolen Legacy, George James, a Guyanese historian and author, argued that the highly acclaimed Greek philosophy actually originated in ancient Egypt. James arguments on Ancient Egyptbeing the basis of Greek philosophy will be discussed as it relates to the goals of Egyptian theory of salvation and Egyptian Mystery system. The Stolen Legacy begins with uncovering how the Egyptian s held a Mystery System, which was the oldest in the world considered a Secret Order that required membership and pledged secrecy. Thus the Egyptians developed secret systems of writing and teaching that if forbade others from imitating their work. It was not until the Greeks were allowed into the temples that the invasion of Alexander the Destructor plundered the temples and libraries and allowed the Greeks to gain access to the ancient books. James further explains that this is where Aristotle built his school of thought and legacy. In essence, this explanation is the basis of James view. Death In Kurt Vonnegut s A Tale Of Two Cities Death can be seen all throughout life, and all deaths can be for different reasons, whether those reasons be noble, villainous, or, in most cases, simply neither. Throughout both A Tale of Two Cities, written by Charles Dickens, and Slaughterhouse Five, written by Kurt Vonnegut, death can be seen as a common topic betwixt both novels at one point or another, albeit each topic of death can be very different at times. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In Slaughterhouse Five, death is taken in a light manner, and is seen by the main protagonist, Billy Pilgrim, shows death throughout his experiences in the book as an impermanent and weightless event, which is the complete opposite of how Dickens portrays death. Throughout Slaughterhouse Five, Vonnegut places the words So it goes. after every death, or multiple deaths seen at roughly the same time, eventually explaining this phrase as something the Tralfamadorians say after somebody because everyone is alive forever, even if at different times, so therefore death is meaningless in the eyes of those in Slaughterhouse Five. The message about death that Slaughterhouse Five attempts to bring is far different than the message A Tale of Two Cities attempts to bring. While Slaughterhouse Five tries to tell us that death is meaningless and holds no weight, A Tale of Two Cities tries to tell us that death holds a lot of weight in the world, and that in some cases can be the most meaningful thing in the world. Vonnegut throughout his book takes a tone that is aloof or uncaring when it comes to death, a tone that tells us that he thinks death is meaningless, or weightless, whereas we can see that Dickens takes a more serious tone when it comes to death, showing that he has a deep respect for meaningful death, albeit when when he thinks that there is a pointless death, his tone changes to one of frustration or chastising. Vonnegut, on the other hand, keeps the same tone about death throughout the entire book, never changing his tone when an important death happens, or when a meaningful death occurs, but always keeps the same tone that says that he believes death holds no weight, in complete contrast to Dickens, who, no matter the circumstance, whether the death is important or meaningless, always seems to keep some level of respect for death in the way he talks about it. ... Many of the behaviors that make individuals more vulnerable for HIV, such as IV drug use and illegal prostitution, also increase an individual s vulnerability to be incarcerated. In 2010, there were 20,093 reported inmates with HIV/AIDS in custody in either state or federal prison (HIV in Prisons, 2012). Although this number has decreased since the previous census count of 20,880 individuals imprisoned in either state or federal custody, this still does not take into account the individuals that are released from prison and are required to seek a continuation of treatment on their own. In 2012, the number of admissions to state and federal prison in the United States was 609,800 offenders. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Identity Based Encryption is a public key encryption scheme where any string can be a users email address or name. The advantage of Identity Based Encryption is no certificate is needed to bind names to public keys. This feature may help to launch a public key infrastructure since receiver does not have to obtain public key and certificate before receiving encrypted communication. The sender can use receivers Id as its public key and does not need to obtain and verify certificate on the recipient s public key. 5. Advantages of ECC over RSA A. Security The main advantage ECC has over RSA is that the essential operation in ECC is point addition and it is computationally very costly. To maintain the same security degree the bits number will increase in RSA generated key pair. We can see from below figure that RSA should use 3072 bit while 256 bit for ECC. Hence ECC is more secure than RSA.

This absence of affordable housing became especially prevalent following World War II when suburbanization spread across the country like wildfire. Although the sheer number of homes increased, Jim Crow segregation influenced housing policy, meaning that white institutions prevented blacks from obtaining the mortgages needed to afford such homes. Therefore, rather than accept subprime loans, which often result in foreclosure, many black people have been pigeonholed into paying exorbitant rates for dilapidated rental properties located in inner cities, thereby creating the affordable housingproblem. Although the situation seems bleak, with careful planning and execution, we can solve the affordable housing problem. Specifically, my proposal involves the following two components: the government must first revise and draft three forms of legislation that create strict yet concise standards that landlords must follow, and then allocate federal funding to health and wellness programs within poor communities. Students who participate learn to appreciate the great importance and dignity of agricultural work. Agriculturewill help with fresh ingredients; young people often have a poor opinion of agricultural work. Clearly, this could be the answer to teach students, how to be able to grow more food of better nutritional quality. Agriculture should be an elective or even a requirement at schools. Many students who has grow in farms specially, do not want to have agriculture as a courses, because they aspire to break away from what they consider a financially and morally impoverishing vocation. So, an option could be to have agriculture, as a club where student interested on learning more about agriculture, which is the cultivation and breeding of animals, plants and fungi (fungus) for food, fiber, biofuel, medicinal plants and other products used to sustain and enhance human life. So with this information, do you believe agriculture can help schools? • 53. Camus Philosophical View Of Absurdism In Meursault s The... The Stranger reflects Camus philosophical stance as an absurdist. There is no logical meaning to life, there is no higher order or law governing it or people, and there is no rational explanation to the chaos as according to The Stranger. There is no truth no certainty nor any unwavering non relative laws in life and there is no sense in pursuing such impossibilities. This is shown through camus s main character Meursault. No opening sentences of the novel and body somersaults absurdist outlook on life, his emotional indifference and detachment to people, and his passive be quiet alienation from the rest of society. he doesn t even know which day his mother died and to him it, doesn t mean anything anyway. Throughout this novel camus... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The reality came to him after he had a conversation with the chaplain who seemed to play the game way too well. the chaplain new the game well too, I could tell right away: His gaze never faltered. And this voice didn t falter either when he said have you no hope at all? And do you really live with the thought that when you die you die and nothing remains? Yes I said. (Camus 117). Those who don t play the game don t win. the trial is not about Justice for the Arab the murder victim but the people playing the roles set out in the unwritten rules of the game. Camus Philosophical thought on absurdism is not shown throughout this novel. Though camus does not explicitly refer to the notion of absurdity, the events of absurdity operate within the novel. Neither the external World in which Meursault lives nor the internal world of his thoughts possesses any rational order. Meursault has no discernible reason for his actions, such as his decision to marry Marie or his decision to kill the Arab. For the first time baby, I really thought I was going to get married. (50). This quotation shows the true unpredictability of this novel, and with that it shows how life can be so absurd. Though the stranger is a work of fiction, it contains a strong sense of camus philosophical notion of absurdity. Though critics still argue that absurdism is essentially meaningless because acceptance of it entails life without meaning. This, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 54. Meaning Of Happiness There s no question that everyone wants to be happy within their lives. The only source of disagreement lies within how one achieves happiness and what happiness really means. The authors within the book Pursuing Happiness have their own meanings of happiness and what it takes to achieve happiness. Topics such as: what happiness is, what brings happiness, what role does money play in happiness, etc. In this first discussion, we see what the some of the authors have to say about the meaning of happiness. Someone such as his Holinessthe Dalai Lamawould argue that happiness is having peace and satisfaction within one s mind. As a tibetan monk, he believe that happiness occurs within the self (Dalai Lama and Cutler 23). In contrast, Thomas Jeffersonwould explain that happiness is actually the opportunity to freely choose one s path within life. Freedom, in eyes, would be the embodiment of freedom (Declaration of Independence). In would also argue that happiness stems from the feeling of self worth, that you have a place within this world. As we see here, the true meaning of happiness all depends on the person. There is no right or wrong answer because we each perceive happiness in a different manner. This is important because it also means that there are different opinions in which someone can achieve happiness.
