Last year I shot a drama using a single camera, despite this project being multi-camera I will be able to
transfer the knowledge and experience I gained last year to this project. Previous projects also enabled
me to develop directing, editing and camera operator skills, which I can apply to this soap opera.
Throughout my time at college I have needed to be punctual, have good communication and organisation
skills and be reliable. I believe that these skills will allow me to be a good member of the production team.
Skillsthat would be required to produce thisproduct:
There are a variety of key members that will be needed in order to successfully produce this soap opera.
A strong-minded director that is capable of achieving the high standard we will need is essential. They will
also need to be able to deal with the actors or other members of the team if they aren’t doing their job the
way we need them to.
A producer will be needed to choose the actors, help create the vision with the director and oversee the
whole production from start to finish.
As this project is multi-camera having three camera operators will be vital. They will need to be able to
follow directions from the director accurately to ensure the director’s vision is achieved. Additionally they
will need to know how to use the equipment and be able to work under pressure.
We will need multiple actors to bring the script to live and entertain the audience. The actors need to be
willing to work in a professional environment and have some experience, as this will reduce the workload
of the producer and director.
The last key member that will be needed is an editor. They will be responsible for honouring the producer
and directors wishes and appropriately achieve their vision with the footage they have shot. The editor
needs to have good communication skills in order to liaise with the director as well as having good editing
skills, as they will need to make a professional standard soap opera.
Technology that I have used:
During my time working previous projects I have used a variety of equipment and technology. Throughout
the duration of filming I used a Tripod, a Canon Camera, Panasonic DSLR, Microphones and Mic
Packs. During editing stages I have used MacBook and iMac, Final Cut Pro X and Logic Pro.
Technology that would be necessary to create thisproduct:
To create this soap opera to a high standard we will need multiple camera, tripodsand microphones to
record the scene. As well as a Macbook or iMac and Final Cut Pro X to edit the show.

Unit 4 Skills Audit Soap Opera

  • 1. Skills Audit Use this template to help you think about the skills that you have and the technologies you are confident in using. It should help you to generate workable ideas for your soap opera. Name: Chelsie Brandrick Date: February 20th 2017 Product idea: Skillsthat I have: Last year I shot a drama using a single camera, despite this project being multi-camera I will be able to transfer the knowledge and experience I gained last year to this project. Previous projects also enabled me to develop directing, editing and camera operator skills, which I can apply to this soap opera. Throughout my time at college I have needed to be punctual, have good communication and organisation skills and be reliable. I believe that these skills will allow me to be a good member of the production team. Skillsthat would be required to produce thisproduct: There are a variety of key members that will be needed in order to successfully produce this soap opera. A strong-minded director that is capable of achieving the high standard we will need is essential. They will also need to be able to deal with the actors or other members of the team if they aren’t doing their job the way we need them to. A producer will be needed to choose the actors, help create the vision with the director and oversee the whole production from start to finish. As this project is multi-camera having three camera operators will be vital. They will need to be able to follow directions from the director accurately to ensure the director’s vision is achieved. Additionally they will need to know how to use the equipment and be able to work under pressure. We will need multiple actors to bring the script to live and entertain the audience. The actors need to be willing to work in a professional environment and have some experience, as this will reduce the workload of the producer and director. The last key member that will be needed is an editor. They will be responsible for honouring the producer and directors wishes and appropriately achieve their vision with the footage they have shot. The editor needs to have good communication skills in order to liaise with the director as well as having good editing skills, as they will need to make a professional standard soap opera. Technology that I have used: During my time working previous projects I have used a variety of equipment and technology. Throughout the duration of filming I used a Tripod, a Canon Camera, Panasonic DSLR, Microphones and Mic Packs. During editing stages I have used MacBook and iMac, Final Cut Pro X and Logic Pro. Technology that would be necessary to create thisproduct: To create this soap opera to a high standard we will need multiple camera, tripodsand microphones to record the scene. As well as a Macbook or iMac and Final Cut Pro X to edit the show.
