Evaluation Question 4

How did you use new media
 technologies in the construction and
  research, planning and evaluation
                stages?
I have used a variety of media technologies throughout
the process of this project. They have played a vital role
in the research, planning, filming, editing and evaluation
stages of creating this film. I feel without these tools our
project would have not been as successful.
With me already having had past experience
with blogger from my AS blog I found using the
programme relatively easy as I was already
familiar to how it worked. I feel using blogger
this time round has enabled me to showcase my
work more professionally and allowed me to
experiment with different ways of displaying my
work within a matter of minutes.

Blogger has had a massive impact on the
creation of film, showcasing my
research, planning, construction and evaluation
of my finished media projects. Using blogger has
enabled me to expand on my skills and give a
detailed account of the stages building up to our
final film using video links, photos, slide shows
and prezis.
Collection of our first ideas for
              title fonts.

Dafant.com has been a real help in
creating professional and ideal fonts for all
parts of our film whether it be for our two
ancillary tasks or for the film titles itself.
With our film being of the film noir genre
we wanted a font that would match the
1940s era. We felt that this font portrayed
this well as calligraphy writing was
fashionable at the time. With our credits
on our poster we went for a tall and thin
font that is often used on most film
posters.
I have created several
                                              prezi’s, here are a few
                                              examples:

I have used internet software prezi
throughout the project to create visually
interesting presentations that showcase
my groups thoughts and ideas
professionally. Prezi is a virtual canvas
which presents information clearly and
creatively. It allows you to add images and
videos making it a perfect method for
presenting ideas to other people
efficiently. I feel using this software has
enabled me to experiment with different
ways of posting my work to my blog and
enhanced my creativity skills on the
computer.
Apple Macs and Software

The Apple Mac hard drive has been an essential
piece of equipment used throughout the editing
of my groups final film. The software on the
Mac has enabled us to insert pre-recorded
sounds, cut and edit our film using the iMovie
maker programme. Drag and drop songs from
the iTunes library to create a distinctive and
          original soundtrack . Without this
technology, editing our film would have been
nearly impossible as we used many of the
transitions on the iMovie maker programme.
Also with it being free and affordable it meant
are budget was not exceeded in the process of
          creating out film.
Sound bible is a free download
site that has a vast variety of
free sounds, able for young
movie makers to download if
they please. The site has
enabled us to download a
couple of free 30-60 second
sound clips that we have been
able to insert into our film to
add to the tension and realism
of the piece. Here are a few of
the sounds that we ended up
using in our finished film.
Using you tube has helped showcase our
work publically in order to retrieve
audience feedback that we can later use
in our evaluation process of the project.
Through you tube i have been able to
upload my final film and my target
audience focus group that shows our
target audience giving feedback to our
project. You tube has also allowed me to
showcase examples for my research into
the film noir genre and given me
evidence to back up any points i make in
my blog.
Picnik has been
extremely useful in
creating professional

been used in the
construction of our Before Edit After Edit
poster and review. Using
the tools on Picnik have

backdrop makes the image look more
professional and realistic for the uses it holds.
Microsoft Publisher

Microsoft Publisher has been a vital resource in
helping me to create my production companies logo
and to design and create my films poster. The tools
that were a part of the software helped me to
enhance images to the best of my ability. The text
and pen tool helped to experiment with different
texts and colour designs to create the perfect
design that would be effective in grabbing our
chosen target audiences attention in wanting to
watch poster finished film.
Canon HD Camera

I have used a canon HD camera to produce footage of my focus
group for my audience feedback and also to create our overall final
film and extras for our DVD. Even though we came across a few
minor glitches in the process of creating our film we still managed
to create a good quality film . The camera consisted of a night
mode setting that was particularly useful as our film often needed
to be set in dark places or at night as it was a part of the codes and
conventions of 1940s detective film noir. The playback button was
also useful as we often needed to watch what we had previously
recorded so we knew whether it needed to the scene needed to
be shot again. This was particularly helpful in keeping to our timed
schedule, making sure we were never behind on filming.
Apple iPhone 4

Using my Apple iPhone 4 has given me the chance to blog on
the go and upload photos and videos from my camera and
photo library from the instant click of a button which has
allowed me more time to spend on the creation of my two
ancillary tasks; my poster and review. Using the phone has also
helped when working with the Apple Macs at college as the
phone is compatible and so uploading anything that may need
doing last minute is achievable. The phone also holds a 5
megapixel camera which means we were able to take pictures
whilst on the go quick and easy, allowing us to take little
equipment when we were out filming.
How did you use new media technologies in the
construction and research, planning and evaluation
                             stages?

Overall the project has definitely been successful due to the vast variety of new media
technologies and software used in the process of research, planning, creating and
evaluation stages. The use of such technologies has meant producing the project has
been quick, efficient and completed to what we believe is a high standard. It has
enabled us to experiment with different media that we did not already know about
and advance on our previous knowledge and skills through showcasing our work using
interactive and creative methods. I feel from the start of the project to now i am more
capable of showing off my work in more advanced ways and at a much higher level. It
has given me more variety in displaying my work to my blog and through other
technologies such as YouTube and Prezi. However looking back on the project i feel i
could have used more intermediate forms of photo editing such as Adobe Photoshop
so that i could develop on my skills in greater depth much more in that area. I also
would have liked to use the garage band software on the Macs to create my own
personal soundtrack and sound effects to match my film, instead of downloading them
off soundbible and freemusicdownloads.com but because of timing this was
unfortunately not possible.
