Skills acquired How did these skills
contribute to the creation of
your product?
How will you develop these
skills during the A2 project?
Digital technology
- What
equipment/software
packages did you use to
produce your
production?
Within my AS Coursework I
learnt to use a Panasonic
Handheld Video camera along
with a tripod to easily film
videos. I used iMovie to edit my
opening sequence and
experimented with Final Cut
ever so slightly. I also used
blogger to present my portfolio.
It allowed me to gain a greater
understanding of using a
handheld camera, I didn’t use
the tripod a vast amount due to
a lot of movement but I
understand how to use a tripod.
Blogger allowed my portfolio to
have a more professional
appearance to my work.
I will use the camera and be
able to film much quicker due to
a greater understanding of
handheld cameras. I will not be
using iMovie to edit as it doesn’t
allow more challenging edits. I
will continue to use Blogger to
present my portfolio.
Post production
- What software did you
use to create your
production?
- Discuss specific features
of the software.
I used iMovie to create my
production however it’s very
simplistic and I will be
considering a different editing
software for my production this
year.
iMovie allowed us to have older
transitions that fitted well with
our opening sequence,
however it didn’t enable me to
be as creative as I could be.
I will opt for a different choice of
software to elaborate on my
experience with different
software and gain a better
understanding of other
softwares.
Research and Planning
- What tasks did you
complete when
preparing to film your
sequence?
- How did your planning
help the smooth
progression of your film?
Research and planning allowed
me to be more organized
throughout my portfolio, this will
be something I will take into
account with my production and
portfolio this year.
It allowed me to realize
organization is key when
creating a production, the right
amount of time should be used
for particular pieces of work.
I can learn to have a better
amount of time management as
I did spend a little too long on
my research than I should have
done.
Using conventions of real
media texts
- Which texts did you
analyse?
- Did you take any
inspiration from the
conventions found from
your research?
I analysed various different Film
Noir films such as ; ‘Se7en,
Sunset Boulevard and
Strangers on a Train’ these
allowed me to understand the
conventions and gave me ideas
towards my own opening
sequence.
This allowed me to understand
that conventions of real media
products are vital when creating
a production.
I will be using this skill to better
myself when understanding
conventions, I must learn to pay
more attention to smaller details
that are needed for particular
conventions.
Creativity
- were our ideas for your
portfolio imaginative and unique
or did you adhere to
conventions?
I stuck with stereotypical
conventions.
It meant I understood that
conventions had to be a main
focus when creating a
production.
I will hopefully be able to
challenge the conventions of
my chosen genre with my
production to make my
production stand out more.
