- What
equipment/software
packages did you use to
produce your
production?
The final production I used final
cut to edit the rough cut and the
final cut. Also I used many
cameras to shoot the
production including a Toshiba
video hand cam and two
Panasonic cameras. Also to
upload the video I used
blogger. The skills that I had
picked up where how to edit
and cut video in final cut and
how so add music and text to
the video.
The use of multiple camera
shots and with numerous
cameras I believe allowed me
to have more video material to
choose from and all the
cameras where being shot at
different angles which allowed
for more creative edit selection
by trying to use a wider range of
shots including more panning
and tilting methods along with
higher and lower angles and to
try to use pull focuses and out
of focus features where
possible to bring extra effect
and to make it look more
professional and realistic to the
song. Also I want to be able to
use more final cut features and
elements to try and give the
video some enhanced technical
capability

The software that I used was a
mac application called final cut
which is a big video editor that
allows you to cut or trim video
or music tracks on timelines
and then other media can be
imported to either be layered
over the top or fit in before or
after that. There is other basic

All of these documents and
many more gave us the insight
in to the planning required for
shooting the film. It allowed us
to get creative but also to think
of ideas and possible problems.
A document like the mind maps
allowed us to put every option
on the table and to come up
with multiple different ideas and
to encourage discussion within
the group. Other documents
like the storyboards helped plan
out the way in which the story
I will develop these stills by
making sure that I have the
information about what I need
to do with the tasks in a2 as
well as read up and research
about the genre I am doing my
video on as well as look at the
tasks that I did last year and try
and add more detail to the tasks
this year by expanding on the
comments and analysis by
picking more out and looking at
it in a much more critical and
judgmental way.

- Which texts did you
analyse?
- Did you take any
inspiration from the
conventions found from
your research?
My main theme that I centered
my film around was a horror
theme. And the videos that I
had researched where films like
the phyco and saw which are
strong movies in that field. The
conventions where very similar
that I found in both films which
where there camera
techniques, colors used and
type of clothing used by actors
and music style.
These factors did have a big
part to play in the development
of my film but in terms of the
visual effects like the clothes
we decided against the normal
stereotype of awful clothes and
let the setting take the
appearance to the fore front
In a2 I still plan to use
conventions such as the way
light and sound and visuals are
portrayed in the video to get the
best possible result for the
meaning of the song. So the
conventions like clothes and
appearance and color’s and
patterns and setting and story
will always be in the back of my
mind during this process
Creativity
- were our ideas for your
portfolio imaginative and unique
or did you adhere to
conventions?
They was a unique element
involved in the film as I believe
that the storyline of three boys
going in an abandoned house
looking for a good time and
because they have heard
story’s about the place is quite
a open and broad storyline but
the woman and the scariness of
the place and the story does
connect to the conventions of
the horror type.
Obviously the conventions did
help in the creation of the
product as we where able to
pick from chosen styles and
ways that presented the idea of
horror. But the open thoughts
about the storyline and how it
was going to run and how it
could start and end was the
most tricky as there was
nothing to start off with is was
completely self made
In a2 I think it is right to start
from that set theme from your
genre and build on that making
you style and design fit round
the temp of the music and the
beat of the music and one way
to do that is to replicate the
rhythm of the music in the way
in which you shoot and then
edit the video around that.
