1. Question 7: Looking back at your preliminary task, what do
you feel youhave learnt in the progression from it to the
final product?

For my preliminarytask,there wasnotmuchPre-Productionrequired,butthere wasstill ashort
scriptand storyboardto be made.However,duringthe processof constructingthe final media
product,I learnedhowtowrite a professionalandsubordinatefilmscriptinthe correctformatand
manner.

2. For my final scriptinmyfinal filmproductIgraduallygottaught how to correctlywrite a filmscript,
and I feel like Iimprovedinthese skills,althoughIdidnotinclude all of the dialogue inmyfinal film.
As youcan see,I includedthingssuchas‘fade in’,stage directions,locationsand‘cutto’,of whichI
didnot include inmyPrelimscript.

3. For my final taskI didresearchaboutmy filmgenre andIexplainedall technical choicesthatIhad
made. However,inmyPreliminarytask,Ihadonlywrittenaboutthe locationandwhateach
character says. These include:
Costumes
Actors
Props
Locations- Floorplansandrecce shots
Equipment

4. SoundImprovements:
For Post-Production formyPreliminarytaskIdidn’taddany type of soundeffectsorsoundtrackto
give a betterlookof the film.Iimprovedthisaspectinmyfinal mediaproduct,notjustinSpecial FX
but alsoingeneral soundquality,asIuseda RODE microphone torecordfootstepsanddialogue,but
I didnot use one inmy Preliminarytasksooverall the soundqualitywasmuchworse asa
consequence.
Lightingandcolourcorrection:
As mypreliminarytaskwasjustfilmedinasingle room, whichisgenerallyusedformeetings,it had
verygoodlightingqualitysoIdidnot have to use anyextraequipmenttogetthe lightingtothe level
that suitedwhatIwantedto achieve. Nearthe beginning,acharacterwalksintoa dark room, with
the otherstaringand waitingforhim,whichputacross to the audience thathe is a character witha
dark personalityandsinistercomparedtothe othercharacter,of whichenteredfromlighttodark.
At the end,there isa good,highlightingshottoa fade to black, low lightingshot,whichmade the
endingof the filmmore mysteriousandsceptical compared toif itjustendedwiththe same lighting
throughout.
However,aproblemwiththese shots isthatthe footage lookseemshomemade ratherthan
cinematicandprofessional.Itisgivenbythe absence of colourcorrecting/gratinginthese scenes.In
my final filmonthe otherhand,Iaddeda colourcorrectiontoall myfootage to give more
professionalandcinematiclook.Idecreasedthe warmcoloursandincreasedthe bluer,muchcolder
onesbecause thisisone of the conventionsthatappliestothe action/thrillergenre.

5. Camerawork:
In myPreliminarytask,Ifilmedall of the shotsusingatripod, somy sceneswere alwaysstill.
However,inmyfinal film, there were alsosome shots of whichIdidnotuse a tripod,whichwas
because Iwantedto give the interpretationtothe audience thatthere issomeonefollowingthe
characters,to provide a viewtothemfromtheirperspective.
In the final product,Ifeel thatI improvedinmyvariationof cameraanglesandmovements,whichI
believehelpedtoadda sense of realitytothe filmopening. Aswell asthis, Ialsolearned how to
focusthe camera much betterandeffectivelycomparedtomyPreliminarytask,asthere were a few
shotswhichwere a bitout of focus at the beginning.However,inmyfinal filmthere wasone shot
that wasout of focusbecause Iwantedto provide the metaphortothe audience thatthe character’s
situationisina blur,so I made himout of focusto presentthis.
Title
In myPreliminarytask,the title Ihadproducedwasmade directlyonPremiere pro,soitwasnot as
professionaloras aestheticallypleasingasIwanteditto be.However,formyfinal filmI
experimentedandresearchedalotintoAdobe aftereffects,asIwantedto create a title sequence

6. whichisprofessional andcomplex to achieve,soImade mytitle sequence onthisprogramasnot
manypeople knowhowtouse it,so it isa generallygoodskill toacquire.
