CV Development

I need to develop my current CV to make it more appealing to the creative
industry. I have been researching and getting inspiration from different
sources. When I create my new CV I will make it creative and different to the
standard type CV to better my chances of employment in the creative industry.
Showreel
I have been looking at different showreels online to give me inspiration and to get an idea of what I want to create.

I want to add a variety of videos to the showreel to show the different work i have done from music videos, freestyles
and vlogs. I may also showcase photography work that i have done.
With the video clips i use in the showreel i want to ensure that i use my strongest pieces of work with the most exciting
part of the videos in the showreel. I will place my most relevant work to date first, depending on each sub genre of
video. I will create a showreel that will show of my range of skills, from directing, filming and editing.
Showreel
I've been trying a few different things experimenting with the editing of the showreel, I've put some of
my videos together to get a feel for how it may look, and to see what style of editing i want to use.
I'm going to plan and storyboard further but now have a better idea of what i want to create

To create this draft I used Sony Vegas Pro
Draft showreel
This is a first draft of my showreel I have created. I have just simply put some clips together with
different transitions to get a feel for how my showreel may look.
Strengths & Weaknesses
Strengths
I'm a creative individual that has a lot of experience directing, filming and editing. I'm open minded and have good
people skills which helps when working in a team. I feel my camera work is one of my strongest skill points, though I'm
also strong when it comes to organising myself and others.

From self motivation and hard work I created my own production company, which I have produced 90+ videos, working
with some of my favourite artists and building a reputation within the underground music scene. My experiences
creating videos have allowed me to work with a lot of different people and understand different artists needs.
My video work started off as self learning, picking up skills and techniques as i progress naturally, my greatest asset is
having a vision for what i want and creating it.
Weaknesses
My weaknesses within my work can be in my use of specialist software such as After Effects, I need to improve my
usability with this software as it will allow me to create better videos and graphics. Also my time management skills are a
weakness of mine, this also needs to be improved if I wish to work within an professional industry.
Another weakness I need to avoid is not spending enough time on a project, there have been times where the artist has a
deadline to meet for there video release which can lead to me not having enough time to perfect the video.
Work to be done
There is still a lot of work needed to be done for the completion of this unit, such as

•
•
•
•

Complete the final edit showreel
Develop a new professional CV
Design and create business cards

Continue to update my Tumblr blog

The next stage of this unit is to complete the showreel, I will then develop a new creative CV to accompany the
showreel. This will better my chances of employment when I finish university. I will also create business cards to
promote myself and my brands information to clients.
