Witness Statement
From the feedback that
I have received from
my teacher, I included
everything from the
‘Unit 13 Checklist’ into
my pitch
As well as some
feedback on What
Went Well during the
presentation of my
pitch.
Helpful feedback such
as, presenting very
professionally, covering
all the documents and
detailing my slide
(developing them
further through
explanations) was very
helpful for me.
As well as receiving a WWW, I also
got helpful feedback on what I could
improve on.
With my improvements, I will alter
them and include screenshots and
explain how I have developed them
further.
Along with the improvements on my
Photoshop work, I would improve
my Front cover for my first
magazine, (TeensRule) as well as
the DPS by including a Drop Capital
to make it look more professional.
However, I will also improve my
second magazine to make it relate
more to the Rock Genre.

Corrections to Front
Cover ● First I made my main
image more bigger
which made it more of
the focal point
● Then I changed the
size of the Strapline
and positioned it more
towards the coverlines.
● I then moved the Beats
logo and placed it
more underneath the
anchorage text.
● Finally, I altered the
size of the main
headline, by making it
smaller and a little
more wider, which then
made the main image
stand out more.

Corrections to Double page spread
What I decided to change with my dps, what to
change the “Pull quote” and simplify it more,
therefore, I went for a black text and removed the
rectangular background.
I also added a drop shadow to one of my main
image and placed it more the red border to present
more a 3D/pop effect.

Corrections to Double page spread
After receiving feedback from my teacher, I
decided to alter more than expected, for example;
resizing the brand name, duplicating my first main
image and changing the opacity, replacing the
second main image and wrapping most of the
interview text around it, altering the main headline
into two sections, and changing the pull quote into
a more simplistic font, and colour.

Corrections to Backpage
What I decided to do with
this back page, was that i
wanted it to be more out
there; therefore I went onto
a different approach to
present the men’s fashion
advertisement
I copied the image two
more times, then I
changed the opacity of
each, then selected the
image and painted it in a
different colour with a light
opacity; I also, spread the
image out a bit more.
Finally, I changed the drop
shadow effect of the ‘YSL’
logo which made the logo
pop out more.

The company editors, proofreaders and management company, would be running a tight schedule as how they
would check, redo and complete everything. Photoshop editors would be split into three different section in
relation to the front cover, dps and backpage, Writers would be typing key context for the magazine such as
interviews and reviews. Once this is completed, a draft is printed and proofreaders check and indicate any errors
or improvements that needed to be changed.
Production Plan
As for the second week, this was when the different staff groups would be starting and working on their assigned
job. For instance, Journalists would go out and do interviews on popular artists and reviews on special music
events such as concerts. Photographer would capture high-quality shots for the magazine front cover, double
page spreads and back page advertisement. There would also be a quality check on the images and interview
drafts before the editing process begins
Production Plan
With my third week of production, this was the pressure week when the staff and employees would be working
long hours to meet deadlines, such as the proofreaders and sub-editors would be working on the content and
context of the magazine. And near the end of the week, manage would plan the final week of production as to
what must be completed, check and printed.
Production Plan
The final week, is when last minute changes are made, front covers, dps’ and backpages are completed,
checked and sent. Proofreaders do a final check and is then sent of to print. Planning and distributing the
magazine is discussed and once printed the correct amount of monthly copies the magazines are then
packaged and sent by the end of the week.

Gunplay Absender
The Blacklist Gunplay Linowrite
By using the website ‘Dafont’, I have been able to choose a variety of different designs. I want my chosen font
to stand out from the magazine and anchor the public to it, although the font above are quite basic, this would
allow the magazine to have a good contrast to the additional information around it, such as; the main image,
masthead and cover lines. With help of choosing my own magazine title, I have been able to decide on the right
fonts that would compliment the magazine in its own unique style and content, from my two inspiration
magazines; ‘Billboard’, ‘Respect’ ‘Kerrang’, the layout and style of the final outcome of the magazine would want
to be attractive, with bright and bold colors and a decent amount of information on the front cover. Finally I want
my final chosen font to enhance the quality of the magazine.
Font Style
Font Style
For my second magazine, I chose the font of ‘The Blacklist‘. I decided on this font because, this
would enhance the quality of my second magazine, which was inspired by ‘Kerrang’ and ‘Respect’
music magazine, as with the use of bright colours on the masthead, headline and bold lettering to
enhance the quality of the contents on the front cover.
Also with the font style of ‘The Blacklist’ has helped me to understand anchor the public to my
magazine; with the use of a single coloured title that would contrast well with the magazine
masthead, cover lines and possibly the anchorage text.
Finally, by creating a short yet eye-catching masthead, this would attract consumers of the younger
age; relatively my target audience, the public would be interested by the contents not just the
masthead; therefore what would be on layout on the front cover, eg. anchorage text.
Name of Magazine Font Name
House Style
Colour Scheme
To resemble my inspired magazine ‘RESPECT’ and ‘KERRANG’ I have decided to alter the
colours used in my hand drawn draft shown below, by changing the colours to the use of black and
white, because, my second magazine would relate more the male gender. By doing so, this will
allow me to enhance the quality of the magazine more, with the use bold and large green text for
my magazine brand, along with the background colour of grey, this magazine would interest the
male public, as the magazine is eye-catching however, not so out there, in comparison to the first
magazine. With the simplicity of the three colours of; grey to connote the masthead and enhance
the brand name, black and white images overall colour of the magazine would interest the male
gender, because the magazine does not contain colours that overwhelm the public, and finally red
to underline the or outline the borders of the content on the magazine.
Social Media
By also relating my magazine with the use of most common social media of; Twitter, Instagram and
Facebook, the public can be notified on the latest issue release, gossip and background information
in relation to the musical industry. By providing the public with social media links on the front cover,
barcode or contents page, with the release of every issue, subscribers are constantly notified, due
to the visual imagery and the bright colours.
Straplines
These can act as a slogan to inform the reader about the magazine, they can be a short sentence
which can explain why this magazine is popular or what the magazine relates to in terms of the
musical industry
Why?
Why did I choose this
Issue date?
What could affect the issue
date?
Why would this date be
appropriate for my target
audience?
Why would this magazine
be suitable for this issue
date?
- Along with my second
magazine, I also
decided to choose the
issue date of during the
summer holidays
because, this is when
most of the population
will be on vacation, and
by selling a new product
to the public may allow
them a chance to review
the music magazine.
-As for my second
magazine, my target
audience for this magazine
is aimed at the slightly
older generation of the
male public with the age
range of 16-22, factors that
may affect the date of
release could be the
effectiveness of the
number of copies launched
and sold.
-This issue release date
would also be suitable for
the older male public as
of the summer vacation
season, this may allow
them to have the
entertainment of a music
magazine with content
that relates to the
spectacle of the ‘Rock’
genre.
-With the theme of black
and white, the slightly
older generation is most
likely to be anchored into
a magazine that would
have a release date of a
few weeks into the
summer holidays. By
having a release date that
is the same as my first
magazine, this could
provide the public with a
variety of choice between
the two magazines.

Subscription Sale
https://www.englishandmedia.co.uk/subscribe-mediamag
The idea of having a subscription sale would be very useful in the distribution of my magazine and
technology has been developing over the years.
By having a subscription sale, the magazine would increase in the annual profit; the example link
below is of a magazine subscription sale.
I plan to have my subscription layout plan like this:
● Digital magazine, monthly subscription every year - £120
● Digital magazine every 2 months every year - £105
● Paperback magazine monthly subscription every year- £99
● Paperback every 2-4 months every year - £75
● Three hardcover magazines every 5-7 months - £85
Having a rough plan on the magazine subscription sale would be beneficial in the distribution of the
magazine; as well as a website subscription plan of selling 25 magazines each costing £3.50,
therefore every year this would result in a profit of £87.50

I plan to have my subscription layout plan like this: ● Digital magazine, monthly subscription every year - £120 ● Digital magazine every 2 months every year - £105 ● Paperback magazine monthly subscription every year- £99 ● Paperback every 2-4 months every year - £75 ● Three hardcover magazines every 5-7 months - £85 Having a rough plan on the magazine subscription sale would be beneficial in the distribution of the magazine; as well as a website subscription plan of selling 25 magazines each costing £3.50, therefore every year this would result in a profit of £87.50
