would link really well with this
magazine.
Images Involved
I want to include an
image or images that
would draw my target
audience to the
magazine.
Font Styles
By using the website ‘Dafont’, I have been able to choose a variety of different designs. I want my chosen font
to stand out from the magazine and anchor the public to it, although the font above are quite basic, this would
allow the magazine to have a good contrast to the additional information around it, such as; the main image,
masthead and cover lines. With help of choosing my own magazine title, I have been able to decide on the right
fonts that would compliment the magazine in its own unique style and content, from my two inspiration
magazines; ‘Billboard’, ‘Respect’ ‘Kerrang’, the layout and style of the final outcome of the magazine would
want to be attractive, with bright and bold colors and a decent amount of information on the front cover. Finally I
want my final chosen font to enhance the quality of the magazine.
In conclusion, after researching through the different font styles and deciding on what my title
should be for my magazine, I have come to a final decision of choosing the name; ‘TeensRule’ with
the font style of; ‘Gunplay’
I have chosen this as my final design to go onto my front cover, as such of the of its simplicity,
however would anchor consumer of the teen age to review my magazine, I wanted to go for a bold
and eye-catching font, that would contrast well with my main image, along with its contents,
therefore make my magazine unique and stand out to the public.
With the font ‘Gunplay’ with the extra detail of the lines, would relate my magazine more towards
the male gender however, the main image, strapline and cover lines would refer to both the male
and female genders. As such of a young target audience, this would allow me to understand and
aim my content towards them, in comparison to the older generation of over 24, my magazine
would not relate to them as much because of the content which is aimed towards teenagers.
Name of Magazine Font Name
Font Styles - First Magazine
For my second magazine, I chose the font of ‘The Blacklist‘. I decided on this font because, this
would enhance the quality of my second magazine, which was inspired by ‘Kerrang’ and
‘Respect’ music magazine, as with the use of bright colours on the masthead, headline and bold
lettering to enhance the quality of the contents on the front cover.
Also with the font style of ‘The Blacklist’ has helped me to understand anchor the public to my
magazine; with the use of a single coloured title that would contrast well with the magazine
masthead, cover lines and possibly the anchorage text.
Finally, by creating a short yet eye-catching masthead, this would attract consumers of the
younger age; relatively my target audience, the public would be interested by the contents not
just the masthead; therefore what would be on layout on the front cover, eg. anchorage text.
Name of Magazine Font Name
Font Styles -Second Magazine
Colour Scheme
My magazine would have will have a colour scheme of Red, Green and Blue because, my first magazine was inspired by
the magazine ‘Billboard’ which use a range of bright and vibrant colours which anchor the public to view their magazine.
Also, my magazine will include most of their bright and vibrant colours to enhance the inspiration of the magazine
‘Billboard’, such as the example shown below, my magazine ‘TeensRule’ which is aimed to both the male and female
gender. The hand drawn draft presented on the right, is what my final outcome of my first magazine should look like. With
the combination of the simple and complimentary colours, this would amplify the magazine and become interesting to the
public. The colour of a bright red, with amplify the masthead to the public because of the black bold text. The colour green
connotes the enhancement of the magazine by bringing the features indicated, for example the pull quote, this suggests
that this would attract the public to read the magazine. The colour red, connotes the amplification of the masthead, as
such of the white text, which would draw in consumers to the relative content. Finally, the colour of a dark blue would
notify the reader about the main headline, related to the musical industry, also by placing the main headline in the center
of the magazine, the qualification of the main image, would bring out the use of the headline to the public.
Font Style
My magazine font style would be in the font known as ‘Gunplay’ because, this will enhance the background colour(s) of
the magazine on the; front and back cover, along with the text shown on a double page spread. This font is clear to read
with the need for hesitation and the bold text also enhance the quality of the magazine, such as the features on the
magazine cover, for example; the cover lines and the pull quote.
Social Media
The social media links along with the website address, will be placed at the back of the magazine in the barcode,
because, by having my magazine with a decent amount of feature to anchor the public to read the magazine. Also, this is
a result of Technical Convergence which is; ‘The company presents. Wide range of social interactions, along with a
variety of different products, such as paperback products (magazines) and digital products (online update/websites).’ This
is an example of technical convergence because, my magazine includes a wide variety relating to the paperback product,
this also relates to the convergence of online, because of the website address contained within the barcode along with the
price and issue date.
Straplines
An Indication of what the magazine may contain or a brief small paragraph about the background of the magazine that
would inform the public about the magazine and therefore anchor them to the front cover.
House Style - TeensRule
House Style - RockStarsColour Scheme
To resemble my inspired magazine ‘RESPECT’ and ‘KERRANG’ I have decided to alter the colours used in my
hand drawn draft shown below, by changing the colours to the use of black and white, because, my second
magazine would relate more the male gender. By doing so, this will allow me to enhance the quality of the
magazine more, with the use bold and large green text for my magazine brand, along with the background colour
of grey, this magazine would interest the male public, as the magazine is eye-catching however, not so out there, in
comparison to the first magazine. With the simplicity of the three colours of; grey to connote the masthead and
enhance the brand name, black and white images overall colour of the magazine would interest the male gender,
because the magazine does not contain colours that overwhelm the public, and finally red to underline the or
outline the borders of the content on the magazine, for example, the cover lines and anchorage text.
Font Style
I want my second magazine to interest the male public. Therefore I have decided on the font style of ‘The Blacklist’
because, in my opinion, this font would resemble the boy gender of today’s society. With this type of font, the
masthead (brand name) will be enhanced by the green colour and the grey background, which would relate the
male gender, along with the primary use of black, grey, white and red as to enhance the simplicity however,
professional look, that would anchor the male public to read the magazine.
Social Media
By also relating my magazine with the use of most common social media of; Twitter, Instagram and Facebook, the
public can be notified on the latest issue release, gossip and background information in relation to the musical
industry. By providing the public with social media links on the front cover, barcode or contents page, with the
release of every issue, subscribers are constantly notified, due to the visual imagery and the bright colours.
Straplines
These can act as a slogan to inform the reader about the magazine, they can be a short sentence which can
explain why this magazine is popular or what the magazine relates to in terms of the musical industry
What will you ‘Repeat’ (Steve Neale - 1980) Front
Cover - TeensRules
On my first magazine, which is called ‘TeensRule’ and has been
inspired by the magazine ‘Billboard’, I would keep the font style of
the magazine the same, because, this would result in the
uniqueness of the magazine as a whole. The font style I have
been using was inspired by the website ‘Dafont’; which consisted
on a variety of the different font styles. Eventually, I ended on the
font style of; ‘Gunplay’ which would portray a sense of
enlightenment as to how this magazine would stand out to the
public, from the other magazines.
I would also keep the location of certain key features at the front
of my magazine, for example; the bold writing of the text which
would amplify the magazine to the eyes of the public, also the
location of the cover lines and the barcode, because this would be
more reachable to the reader as this would allow them to gain full
access to the key information presented; such as the price of the
magazine, and the latest news and updates in relation to the
music industry.
The text side would also be repeated, therefore a decent amount
of information will onto the front cover, without overwhelming the
reader. And to enhance the text information, the use of the bold
bright colours as shown below would be repeated with every
issue of the magazine, resulting in a more recognisable
appearance as well as the masthead. However I would keep the
location of the masthead the same but only when my front cover
includes one main image (one artist) With many of my issues, I
would keep this the same because, I want the magazine front
cover to be eye-opening to the public; with the sense of creating a
unique and probably irresistible anchorage to the magazine.
Finally, I would repeat the location of the social media links as
such of the enhancement of the vibrant colours that would amplify
the; masthead, main image and social media links.
“For Media texts to be successful, they must
have elements of ‘Repetition’ and ‘Difference’”
From my magazine of inspiration, I will use
Steve Neale’s idea and repeat the location and
positioning of the Masthead as this would
identify to the public about the magazine brand
and how this its organised layout will resemble
the music industry.
Also on the masthead, I would repeat the
conventions of the colour scheme as this would
enhance the quality of the magazine as of the
bright colours would amplify the application of
the key features such as the cover lines,
strapline and the monthly headline.
I would also repeat the use of the pull
quote, as of its location and status.
This would amplify the quality of the
magazine as such of its purpose to
attract the reader.
What will you ‘Repeat’ (Steve Neale - 1980) DPS -
TeensRule
I would preferable repeat the layout of my DPS as this would give a
sense and realisation that the layout would interest the reader, as of
the well organised arrangement and design of the magazine double
page spread.
I would repeat the use of colour, as this would also intrigue the eyes of
the public as of the combination of text and images that would anchor
the reader into reading the content. However in my hand drawn drafts,
most of the colours used, will be repeated throughout the magazine,
as of a identification on the key features. For example, the magazine
headline, would be kept the same; to amplify the reader about the
contents that would be contained within the double page spread. As
similar to the pull quote, this will anchor the reader as to what the
magazine double page spread would have in relation the headline.
Also, shown in my graphic layout as shown below, this layout
represents a simpler version as to how the organisation of the
magazine would be presented to the reader. In every issue release of
my monthly magazine, this layout out of my double page spread,
would be found near the beginning of the magazine, because of the
continuous repetition of the organisation as to how the magazine
would be exploited to the viewer’s eyes.
As this double page spread would be contained within every issue of
the magazine, the amplification the simplistic colours would uphold an
attract to the headline/ main story and to the text; as this can vary
depending on the information presented.
The colour scheme shown below is an example of what would be
included in the magazine. The use of the two simplistic, would be
Steve Neale’s use of ‘Repetition as of the repetition of the double page
spread layout, along with the repetition of small details such as:
website address, masthead - brand name and social media links.

Pull Quote
From my magazine of inspiration, I plan to use the
repetition of the the location of the masthead and the
cover lines, as this would connote the continuous
coordination on the layout of the double page spread.
Similarly I would repeat the colour scheme based on this
dps, and therefore you this to my advantage on my own
magazine and therefore, make this stand out to anchor the
reader into viewing my magazine.
What will you ‘Repeat’ (Steve Neale - 1980) Layout -
TeensRule
In my first magazine, I would
repeat the layout of the magazine
because, subscribers and viewers
would also have the chance to
understand the layout of the
magazine and give them quick
access as to the variety of the
different pages, with the exception
of the different information
presented with every new monthly
issue release.
The organised layout, would be
repeated with every new issue, as
such of the location on my main
DPS, because the content page
would repeat the same layout and
identify the location as to where
the reader wants to skip to.
Along with the repetition of the
colour scheme to the entire
magazine would be repeated as
such of the presentation of its
uniqueness and how the bright
colours would make the magazine
stand out from the others.
What will you ‘Different’ (Steve Neale - 1980) Front
Cover - TeensRule
However, with my first magazine, I would
differentiate the organisation of what is on
the magazine. For example, f my main
image consists of two artists, the
organisation of the key features
presented on the magazine would be
altered to enhance the quality of the
magazine and reveal the popular artists,
which would relate to most of the
information contained within/ throughout
the magazine.
I would also recommend that, with every
new issue the layout of my magazine
front cover would have an altered
perspective of the, for example, if my
magazine front cover has two artists, the
Masthead would be placed horizontally
across the top of the magazine and the
headline/ strapline would be placed
directly underneath, as well as there
would no a frequent indication of there
being a pull quote; as this would
overwhelm the reader because of the due
to a large amount of information that
would be crammed into one confined
space.
What will you ‘Different’ (Steve Neale - 1980) DPS -
TeensRule
In the circumstance of my first magazine, the main feature that I would
change, would probably have to be the altering of the information the
given, as although my double page spread would have the same layout
with every issue release, I would change what content/ context would go
on the magazine double page.
For example, my first magazine release would contain, an artist
interview along with main images of that artist as well as a pull quote of
what they said and some additional information underneath would the
artist. And with my next issue, I would have the alternative of the
changing the headline to a different topic along with the rest of the
layout of the double page spread, because, although this DPS would be
repeated in every new release, the informational content would have a
different perspective on the what context would be presented on the
pages.
What will you ‘Different’ (Steve Neale - 1980) Layout
- TeensRule
I would mainly alter the information that I would
present within each magazine, and the
information given would interest the viewer or a
subscriber to the magazine to read my
magazine.
For instance on one of my double page spread,
say for example, pages 10 & 11, I would alter
the competition as in; trips, and rewards. By
doing this I will be able to differentiate the
perspective as to what the public want in the
magazine.
However, by not changing the layout of the
magazine, this will allow me to achieve the
content would be easily accessible to the
public, as of the contents page would allow
them to quickly and easily access the content
they want. Furthermore, this would take away
most of the magazine’s uniqueness as of the
continuous repetition of the magazine the
repetition of the colour scheme, the content
presented should interest the reader, by
anchoring them to the written verbal content of
interviews and the main headline, as well as the
non- verbal content of the main images.
Although, with the practise of creating a front
cover and a double page spread, I will be able
to achieve the aspect of understand the
process of the production of a magazine.

As my second magazine was inspired by the male targeted ‘RESPECT’ I would like to repeat
their layout of the magazine, as for their continuous use of the location of many of their key
features, such as the masthead stretch across the top of the magazine and the main
headline/ strapline directly underneath.
I would also repeat the positioning of the cover lines, as this magazine is targeted to the
male gender, the content on the front cover, would attract the public to read the magazine,
along with the repetitive use of the colour scheme as shown below and the bold text; similar
to my first magazine and would enhance the quality of the magazine further, my second
magazine would have an interest of what would be aimed towards the male gender.
I would also repeat the position of the magazine front cover: as shown in the final graphic
layout, my second magazine would have relevant and appropriate content that would draw
men to the magazine.

HeadlineAnchorage
Text
With my double page spread, I would repeat the use of the positioning of the Headline and of the text, as this would amplify how the magazine brand is portrayed to anchor
the reader to the magazine. With the use of Steve Neales’ Repetition, similarly to my double page spread of my first magazine, I would repeat the layout as of the positioning
of the magazine, I would also repeat the placement of the headline and the text. This would anchor the male gender the context of the magazine and read it. The use of this
repetition, would interest the reader, due to its bright and vibrant colours that would be eye-catching to the reader, in contrast to the rest of the magazine.
However, in the hand drawn draft shown in the bottom right corner, I would not consider the use of the colours scheme, as such for this magazine, the male gender would
prefer the use of dark colours such as; grey, black and white. Although the example on the bottom left corner, the layout of the double page spread is more clear and
understanding as to how I would want to present the magazine to the male sex.
I would repeat the subject of the headline, in relation to the music industry; more likely towards the male gender, as of its likelihood of pulling the reader towards the
magazine. In addition, the point I am trying to get across is that, this dps that I would repeat with every issue release of the magazine, I would repeat the topic on the dps; for
example, competition or interview.

With the magazine flat plan shown, I would
repeat most of the double page spreads; as
such of my main dps: 14&15. With a magazine
that would aimed towards the male public, I
would like to repeat most of the plan, as this
would anchor the read a little more, similar to my
first magazine, due to the quick and easy
access to the magazine, in relation to the
contents page, this use of Steve’s ‘Repeat’ the
public would allowed to have quick and easy
access to what the men want to see.
I would also repeat the layout of most of the
images as this would draw in the reader to what
the magazine is trying to get across, as this
magazine, along with my first magazine, I would
like to have the repetition of most of my images,
to connote that my second magazine is mainly
aimed towards the male public.
The main features that I would repeat would to
be;
● The features of the Front and back
cover, as these would notify the reader
that this magazine is mainly aimed to
the men.
● Contents and New issue pages, as this
would help the male public with the
identification of the release of the next
issue, and the location of the different
pages within the magazine.
What will you ‘Different’ (Steve Neale - 1980) Front
Cover - RockStars
With my second magazine, The front cover would have very little changes as this magazine is
aimed to the male gender, I want the layout of the front cover to anchor my target audience of
the male gender to the be drawn to the magazine front cover, as well as keeping most of my
front cover features. However, with every new issue release my magazine would have a
different outcome, therefore this would interest the male public, as of the alterations with every
new magazine release.
The first feature that I would change is the the orientation of the Puff Promotion as this would
alter the justification of drawing in the reader. Also, I would alter the positioning of where the
barcode would go, as this would distract the reader for what the music magazine is trying to
portray, therefore with most of my issue most of my issue releases, I would have the barcode
placed on the back cover. Main

I would differentiate the use of the context, as this is the most important
part when my double page spread would be repeated throughout the
magazine, this is because, as shown in my hand drawn drafts I would
differentiate the colours used, due to the theme of black, grey and
white, the layout of my double page spread would have the colours of
grey and white, with the outline of red and black which would enhance
its features and therefore attract the male public to the magazine. Also
similar to my first magazine, I would keep the layout of my DPS the
same, however, I would alter the presentation of the context of the
magazine, because my magazine would have a monthly issue release
the information and presentation should vary in relation to the music
industry.
Finally, I would not really change very many of the features on my
double page spread, except for the information and images that would
be presented out the double page spread. In my second magazine, not
very much information would be placed on my double page spreads as
this magazine is mainly aimed towards the male public eye, as well as
having information that would be appropriate and acceptable due to my
age range target audience of 16 to 22

In the variation on the monthly magazine issue
release, my magazine layout would vary, in the case
of repetition of some double page spreads that may
have the same or similar layout/ context in relation to
the music magazine.
In some cases I would differentiate the magazine flat
plan every few months, as this would allow the reader
to have enough time to adjust to the layout of the
magazine before the next change. I have decided that
the magazine flat plan would vary every few months
because of the contents page, due to subscribers or
reader have the accessible source to the location as

Age Gender Class
With the use of Hartley’s
theory, for my first
magazine, I have decided
to aim the content
produced towards the
young public between the
age range of; 14 to 19. I
have decided to choose
this age range because,
as my first magazine is
aimed towards the young
public, a young age range
would anchor the public to
that age range to the
magazine, as the context
would relate more towards
them. Therefore, through a
monthly issue release, the
age range of 14 to 19
would be drawn into the
magazine and in
conclusion result in an
appealing of young
teenagers to be anchored
into its content.
As my first magazine is
aimed to the young society
of the world’s population,
my first magazine would
be aimed to both the male
and female gender, as this
magazine would contain
content that would interest
both genders. This
magazine would have
content that would anchor
them both because of the
context would be
appropriate and relatable
as of the verbal content
presented, as well as the
non-verbal content
revealing an interest
towards the male public.
Although my magazine
does not focus this as the
key focal point, my
magazine would relate to
all the classes, as this will
not cause any
judgemental
disagreements. However,
most of the content that
would be contained in the
magazine would relate
more towards the middle
and upper class.
In addition, my first
magazine would not have
it full attention on the class
status, as my magazine is
in relation to the musical
industry, the content would
not relate to the
differentiation of the class
status.
As for my second
magazine, the age range
would resemble to the
slightly older generation. I
have decided to present
my magazine and its
content towards the age
range of 16 to 22, I have
decided on this age range,
as my second magazine
would contain information
that would relate more to
them.
As of this age range, the
public would be drawn into
the magazine as of the
verbal sna non verbal
content, with the
connotations of the
headline, cover lines and
the pull quote,
In comparison to my first
magazine which is aimed
to both the male and
female genders, my
second magazine which
is mainly a rock genre;
the male public of my
target audience will be
attracted to this
magazine, because of
the more simplistic
outcome of the front
cover, as theme as well
as the colours scheme,
of white, grey and black
would have enhance the
masthead and main
image of the front cover.
Class is not really a key
point of my second
magazine as the
content would be aimed
to all classes. In
addition the content
presented would also
have appropriate text
that would not cause
any disagreements or
arguments that would
relate to any of the
classes.

would like to
explore the
different contents
within the
magazine;
therefore my
magazine would
vary in the issue
content for
example, some
issues would
contain a
competition, and
the next issue
would have an
artist interview.
As my magazine
does not relate to
any source of
survival, except in
the relation to the
music genre, for
example music
taste of the rock
genre.
However, the
beneficial cause
for the production
and selling of the
magazine, the
benefits of the
money raised will
go to a good
cause.
Similar to
survivors, the
beneficial cause of
having a music
magazine will
allow the public to
interact with the
magazine; updates
on social media
sites.
The positive side
of Maslow’s
Theory was that
social climbers
would given the
chance to self
motivate and
interact with the
music magazine
as well as the rest
of the public.
Also, Maslow
wanted to achieve
his theory but
bringing the public
together. Due to
my magazine
being the basis of
the musical
industry. My
magazine content
would contain
entertainment that
would interest the
reader. For
example,
competition,
background
information of an
artist, within an
interview.
The male public
will be allowed to
have an interest in
exploring the wide
variety of the rock
background. Also
by having a
magazine that
would allow the
public to explore
the wide range of
the background of
the music rock
genre.
Similar to my first
magazine, the
explorers would
have a likelihood of
view the different
perspectives of
how the music
industry presents
the different sides
of ‘Rock’
Due to my
second magazine
having the basis
of rock; my
second magazine
would result in
the helpfulness of
having content
that would relate
to artists; for
example,
background
information in
interviews as well
as rock artists
with the interest
of songs/ albums.
In comparison to
my first magazine
the content would
not have a
relatively high
interest on social
standards.
Because this
magazine will be
pointed towards
the male public
the social
interaction would
be lower than my
first magazine.
However, my
magazine would
contain content
that would
interest the male
public. Although
my second
magazine is
based on mainly
‘Rock’ most of
content would
provide
information, in
which Maslow
wanted to
achieve in some
social interaction.

As of this
magazine having a
relative influence
on both the male
and female public,
my first magazine
would have the
likelihood
informing the
public about the
hip-hop music
genre as well as
educating the
younger
generation about
the background of
the musical
industry.
My first magazine
would have the
influence of public
on their personal
identification.
For example, over
few issues, my
magazine would
contain a personal
Q&A/ Quiz on
which they will be
informed on who
they relate; in
terms of the music
industry (artists).
With my first
magazine, I would
have
entertainment
advantage of
drawing in the
public to my
magazine; mostly
this will be aimed
to the young public
eyes of 14-19.
The Personal
Relationship from
the magazine to
the consumer
suggests that they
their target
audience to be
immersed in the
factual information
given.
My first magazine
aims to present a
publication as to
which the interest
of a relationship
between the public
and the magazine.
Due to hip-hop
genre, the
magazine aims to
interact with the
public about the
music industry.
My first magazine
aims to bring both
the male and
female genders
together by having
a similar contents
that would interest
them both.
Also this magazine
aims to avoid the
separation, as of
the context being
an anchorage
connotation
towards the
magazine, as well
as what is
contained within
the magazine.
Finally, the
magazine wants to
achieve the aspect
of having a
likelihood to its
originality of the
hip-hop genre.
My second
magazine would
have the privilege
of having a opinion
to the ‘rock’ genre.
This contents
would have a
perspective that
would interest the
male gender to
read the magazine;
along with the
influence of having
a specific
advantage focal
point, that would
interest the male
public to read the
magazine.
The information
presented must be
eye-catching
towards the male
public.
As of the male
gender. Personal
identification
should relate to
men between my
target age range
of 16-22.
With the
limitations of
providing
information that
would relate to
only the male
genre. My second
magazine must
provide
information that
would relate to
my target male
audience as well
as having an
anchoring front
and back cover
that would relate
to male public.
My second
magazine must
have a subjective
influence as to
the relationship
between the
magazine and the
public, along with
enhancing or
accentuating the
possibility of the
personal
relationship
between the age
range of my
target audience.
However, this
magazine will be
only aimed at the
male gender; this
provide a
diversion as to
the magazine
having a
separation
between the male
and female
genders. Also, the
social interaction
would be less in
comparison to my
first magazine.

Planning, on
managing the a
weekly budget as
how much to

Issue Date: 07/07/2018
Why?
Why did I choose this Issue date? What could affect the issue date? Why would this date be appropriate for
my target audience?
Why would this magazine be suitable for
this issue date?
-For my first magazine, I decided to go
for the issue date of a week or two into
the summer holidays. I choose this date
because my target audience, may or
may not be quite active; this would
therefore allow me to release my
magazine to the public that would
interest them to view my magazine, in
the locations of a widely populated
areas. The issue date of the summer
break may increase the number of
issues released and bought; therefore
this may help the company with their
increase in profit that would benefit the
production process of the magazine.
-Along with my second magazine, I also
decided to choose the issue date of
during the summer holidays because,
this is when most of the population will
be on vacation, and by selling a new
product to the public may allow them a
chance to review the music magazine.
-As my first magazine is aimed at the
young target audience of the ages
14-29, the date of release a few weeks
into the summer holidays, would be
suitable for those who would like to be
entertained and also have an interest in
the release of a new magazine would
anchor the public to view my first
magazine. By having my magazine
released to the public on this date was
because, of the content contained within
my magazine would be interesting and
also anchor the public to my magazine,
as such the content would relate quite
well to the theme of summer; due to the
bright colours involved and the images
include might also relate to the mood of
summer.
-As for my second magazine, my target
audience for this magazine is aimed at
the slightly older generation of the male
public with the age range of 16-22,
factors that may affect the date of
release could be the effectiveness of the
number of copies launched and sold.
-With a young target audience, this may
interest the viewer to read my
magazine, because, of the genre:
hip-hop; the young target audience may
be attracted to the magazine, with the
likelihood of the content, containing
information that would entertain those
who may be interested in music.
As of the release of summer vacation,
this issue date would be appropriate for
my target audience because, teenagers
would have the chance to gain
inspiration, or to be entertained by the
musical genre.
-In comparison to my first magazine, this
issue release date would also be
suitable for the older male public as of
the summer vacation season, this may
allow them to have the entertainment of
a music magazine with content that
relates to the spectacle of the ‘Rock’
genre.
-My target audience, which is normally
based on the young generation of
today’s population, is mostly likely to be
interested along the musical aspect of
information, in relation to the musical
industry of hip-hop and pop music; in
relations to the use of bold and bright
colours, this magazine would be suitable
for a launch date of a few weeks into
summer vacation, the young public
would be anchored into the magazine as
well as its content.
-With the theme of black and white, the
slightly older generation is most likely to
be anchored into a magazine that would
have a release date of a few weeks into
the summer holidays. By having a
release date that is the same as my first
magazine, this could provide the public
with a variety of choice between the two
magazines.

Profit and Loss Breakdown
Background Advertising Marketing Equipment Cost
My magazine will have a
buying cost of £3.50 and
therefore with this
affordable price would
increase profit in the
distribution of copies sold.
As for a magazine costing a
reasonable price, the
advantage of selling roughly
2000 copies of my
magazine monthly,the result
in having 1500 copies sold,
will result in 500 copies loss
of not being distributed.
Furthermore, as presented
in the ‘Pricing’ column, the
printing quotes and the cost
of the magazine will cost a
price of £20.35 each, which
will result in the
achievement of buying and
distributing 2000 copies of
the magazine will result in
the total cost of £1,832.63.
Each magazine that would
be sold in ideal locations
that would be suitable for
the magazine will cost
£3.50 to buy, which will
result in the profit of £7,000
I plan to distribute my
magazine in popular
locations, for instance;
WHSmith and local
supermarkets such as ‘Tesco’
and ‘Sainsbury’s’
Along with the distribution of
my magazine being sold in
local areas, I plan to sell my
magazine in the mail, as well
as download from the
magazine international
website.
Due to this, the magazine
would increase in profit as of
the £3.50 pricing. Although
advertising my magazine
would be a challenge the use
of distributing my magazine in
popular locations and other
branches that could increase
the profit of the magazine,
this would result in the
beneficial indication of the
magazine and help the
company and the production
of the magazine itself.
Therefore, the total overall
cost of advertising the
magazine will equal a total of
£230,683.
With a helpful magazine
production company, the
advantage of Marketing the
magazine would also increase
the profit and the distribution
of the amount of magazines
being sold each month every
year. However with only 2000
copies of the magazine being
produced and distributed; the
Marketing and Finance
member will have the
advantage of indicating the
magazine in a variety of
different locations; online and
in store.
Along with the usefulness of
an organised magazine
production team; having a
‘Marketing and Finance’ team
and team leader, will allow the
magazine to have a positive
outcome profit of creating
awareness and social
interaction to boost the profit
and sales of the magazine.
Finally, the distribution of the
magazine would include the
retail costs of where I could
sell my magazine and
increase the profit gained.
By planning and
contributing the price of
the production of the
magazine, this would
result in the amount and
pricing plan of how much
the production of the
magazine will cost and
the result of the
distribution will cost.
Pricing
● Along with the payment weekly salary
of the staff,
● Costing price of the production of the
magazine
● Costing of how much each magazine
costs
● The standard delivery of 2000 copies
The pricing of the production company of
producing the magazine will result in the the
advantage of profiting from the magazine,
however the loss of affording how the
magazine will be produced and distributed.
Along with the additional production of the
magazine and the costing of the printing
quotes and cost, the magazine company would
loss profit, due to the high pricing of printing
2000 magazines, and printing each magazine
individually.
Along with the pricing of the equipment cost,
the profitable loss will have an effect on the
overall loss that the magazine company will
gain and will lose in the span of one year.
As shown in the next slide, the overall
breakdown of the how much the company will
profit from and what the company will lose
money from.

Conclusion
To conclude this unit study research was collect the needed content of planning, designing and
publishing my own magazine from scratch.
Similar to the research I did in Unit 13 and Unit 14, the evaluation of my magazine through this unit
is to conclude the processes and planning as to create a magazine and key features that must be
consistent throughout; for instance, Colour Scheme and Font Style.
As of a result of this unit, the research evaluation I have completed was to relate to the aim of Unit
30: UK Media Publishing, therefore, by creating and evaluating my own two magazines was to
connote the example of ‘UK Media Publishing’ and therefore imply the production planning and
process to create a magazine.

My chosen magazines of inspirations ‘Billboard’ and ‘Respect’ Strapline A short briefing of the magazine and a connotation that it is a well-known magazine. Additional Contents Adding a barcode for; pricing, date and issue. Also photo credits and finally, small sections of cover lines.
  • 3. Initial Magazine Mind map Idea Two RockStars Frequency Inspired by the magazine ‘Kerrang’ and ‘Respect’ Providing the public with an issue of its monthly purpose of updates, gossip, reviews and interviews Brand Identity Possibly placed in the corner of the magazine, to remind the public was brand the magazine has been published from a popular brand, for example, NIKE or BEATS Target Audience Also towards the young generations as such the context and information provided will appeal to them more as of the age range of 15 to 24 Images Involved With a decent amount of information, the public can be anchored to the cover and the contents as such of the popular celebrities and artists. Also my chosen magazines of inspiration are ‘Billboard’ and ‘Respect’ Color Palette By involving the use of contrasting colors that will enhance the quality of the magazine, along with the influence of the other magazine, bright and bold would make the magazine cover stand out more Masthead Name Alongside the Brand Identity, the magazine will let the public known about what the content would be about and therefore, I have decided on name this magazine ‘RockStars’ Additional Contents Similar to the layout of ‘Billboard’ my magazine must look popular and professional, and compliment the brand Strapline An eye-catching quote, or also a brief to remind the public about the magazine's popularity
  • 4. Initial Magazine Mind map Idea Three Voice Frequency This magazine will be sold every two months, as this will provide the public with the updates on the musical atmosphere Target Audience This magazine would be aimed towards a suitable young age range of the early teens about 13 to 15 Masthead Name A bright and bold name that would be eye-catching to the target audience with information on the identity of the magazine and what type of magazine it is ‘VOICE’ Pricing By having a reasonable price range would help with the selling and producing of the magazine. Therefore I plan to sell this magazine at £2.50 Magazine of Inspiration With the magazine of inspiration ‘TEEN ROGUE’ I will be able to gain inspiration as to how I would present and show off my magazine Additional Content From the magazine of inspiration ‘Teen Rogue’ I plan to stay with one main image for the front cover and include two ot three main images throughout the magazine. Strapline To catch the eye of my target audience, the strapline I will be using for my magazine would be ‘Secrets revealed on popular music’ Color Scheme As I plan to have this magazine be eye-catching to the younger teenagers, I plan use complementary colours that would suit this magazine really well. Brand Identity This magazine may or may not be sponsored by large and popular brands that would link really well with this magazine. Images Involved I want to include an image or images that would draw my target audience to the magazine.

  • 7.
  • 8. Font Styles By using the website ‘Dafont’, I have been able to choose a variety of different designs. I want my chosen font to stand out from the magazine and anchor the public to it, although the font above are quite basic, this would allow the magazine to have a good contrast to the additional information around it, such as; the main image, masthead and cover lines. With help of choosing my own magazine title, I have been able to decide on the right fonts that would compliment the magazine in its own unique style and content, from my two inspiration magazines; ‘Billboard’, ‘Respect’ ‘Kerrang’, the layout and style of the final outcome of the magazine would want to be attractive, with bright and bold colors and a decent amount of information on the front cover. Finally I want my final chosen font to enhance the quality of the magazine.
  • 9. In conclusion, after researching through the different font styles and deciding on what my title should be for my magazine, I have come to a final decision of choosing the name; ‘TeensRule’ with the font style of; ‘Gunplay’ I have chosen this as my final design to go onto my front cover, as such of the of its simplicity, however would anchor consumer of the teen age to review my magazine, I wanted to go for a bold and eye-catching font, that would contrast well with my main image, along with its contents, therefore make my magazine unique and stand out to the public. With the font ‘Gunplay’ with the extra detail of the lines, would relate my magazine more towards the male gender however, the main image, strapline and cover lines would refer to both the male and female genders. As such of a young target audience, this would allow me to understand and aim my content towards them, in comparison to the older generation of over 24, my magazine would not relate to them as much because of the content which is aimed towards teenagers. Name of Magazine Font Name Font Styles - First Magazine
  • 10. For my second magazine, I chose the font of ‘The Blacklist‘. I decided on this font because, this would enhance the quality of my second magazine, which was inspired by ‘Kerrang’ and ‘Respect’ music magazine, as with the use of bright colours on the masthead, headline and bold lettering to enhance the quality of the contents on the front cover. Also with the font style of ‘The Blacklist’ has helped me to understand anchor the public to my magazine; with the use of a single coloured title that would contrast well with the magazine masthead, cover lines and possibly the anchorage text. Finally, by creating a short yet eye-catching masthead, this would attract consumers of the younger age; relatively my target audience, the public would be interested by the contents not just the masthead; therefore what would be on layout on the front cover, eg. anchorage text. Name of Magazine Font Name Font Styles -Second Magazine
  • 11. Colour Scheme My magazine would have will have a colour scheme of Red, Green and Blue because, my first magazine was inspired by the magazine ‘Billboard’ which use a range of bright and vibrant colours which anchor the public to view their magazine. Also, my magazine will include most of their bright and vibrant colours to enhance the inspiration of the magazine ‘Billboard’, such as the example shown below, my magazine ‘TeensRule’ which is aimed to both the male and female gender. The hand drawn draft presented on the right, is what my final outcome of my first magazine should look like. With the combination of the simple and complimentary colours, this would amplify the magazine and become interesting to the public. The colour of a bright red, with amplify the masthead to the public because of the black bold text. The colour green connotes the enhancement of the magazine by bringing the features indicated, for example the pull quote, this suggests that this would attract the public to read the magazine. The colour red, connotes the amplification of the masthead, as such of the white text, which would draw in consumers to the relative content. Finally, the colour of a dark blue would notify the reader about the main headline, related to the musical industry, also by placing the main headline in the center of the magazine, the qualification of the main image, would bring out the use of the headline to the public. Font Style My magazine font style would be in the font known as ‘Gunplay’ because, this will enhance the background colour(s) of the magazine on the; front and back cover, along with the text shown on a double page spread. This font is clear to read with the need for hesitation and the bold text also enhance the quality of the magazine, such as the features on the magazine cover, for example; the cover lines and the pull quote. Social Media The social media links along with the website address, will be placed at the back of the magazine in the barcode, because, by having my magazine with a decent amount of feature to anchor the public to read the magazine. Also, this is a result of Technical Convergence which is; ‘The company presents. Wide range of social interactions, along with a variety of different products, such as paperback products (magazines) and digital products (online update/websites).’ This is an example of technical convergence because, my magazine includes a wide variety relating to the paperback product, this also relates to the convergence of online, because of the website address contained within the barcode along with the price and issue date. Straplines An Indication of what the magazine may contain or a brief small paragraph about the background of the magazine that would inform the public about the magazine and therefore anchor them to the front cover. House Style - TeensRule
  • 12. House Style - RockStarsColour Scheme To resemble my inspired magazine ‘RESPECT’ and ‘KERRANG’ I have decided to alter the colours used in my hand drawn draft shown below, by changing the colours to the use of black and white, because, my second magazine would relate more the male gender. By doing so, this will allow me to enhance the quality of the magazine more, with the use bold and large green text for my magazine brand, along with the background colour of grey, this magazine would interest the male public, as the magazine is eye-catching however, not so out there, in comparison to the first magazine. With the simplicity of the three colours of; grey to connote the masthead and enhance the brand name, black and white images overall colour of the magazine would interest the male gender, because the magazine does not contain colours that overwhelm the public, and finally red to underline the or outline the borders of the content on the magazine, for example, the cover lines and anchorage text. Font Style I want my second magazine to interest the male public. Therefore I have decided on the font style of ‘The Blacklist’ because, in my opinion, this font would resemble the boy gender of today’s society. With this type of font, the masthead (brand name) will be enhanced by the green colour and the grey background, which would relate the male gender, along with the primary use of black, grey, white and red as to enhance the simplicity however, professional look, that would anchor the male public to read the magazine. Social Media By also relating my magazine with the use of most common social media of; Twitter, Instagram and Facebook, the public can be notified on the latest issue release, gossip and background information in relation to the musical industry. By providing the public with social media links on the front cover, barcode or contents page, with the release of every issue, subscribers are constantly notified, due to the visual imagery and the bright colours. Straplines These can act as a slogan to inform the reader about the magazine, they can be a short sentence which can explain why this magazine is popular or what the magazine relates to in terms of the musical industry
  • 13. What will you ‘Repeat’ (Steve Neale - 1980) Front Cover - TeensRules On my first magazine, which is called ‘TeensRule’ and has been inspired by the magazine ‘Billboard’, I would keep the font style of the magazine the same, because, this would result in the uniqueness of the magazine as a whole. The font style I have been using was inspired by the website ‘Dafont’; which consisted on a variety of the different font styles. Eventually, I ended on the font style of; ‘Gunplay’ which would portray a sense of enlightenment as to how this magazine would stand out to the public, from the other magazines. I would also keep the location of certain key features at the front of my magazine, for example; the bold writing of the text which would amplify the magazine to the eyes of the public, also the location of the cover lines and the barcode, because this would be more reachable to the reader as this would allow them to gain full access to the key information presented; such as the price of the magazine, and the latest news and updates in relation to the music industry. The text side would also be repeated, therefore a decent amount of information will onto the front cover, without overwhelming the reader. And to enhance the text information, the use of the bold bright colours as shown below would be repeated with every issue of the magazine, resulting in a more recognisable appearance as well as the masthead. However I would keep the location of the masthead the same but only when my front cover includes one main image (one artist) With many of my issues, I would keep this the same because, I want the magazine front cover to be eye-opening to the public; with the sense of creating a unique and probably irresistible anchorage to the magazine. Finally, I would repeat the location of the social media links as such of the enhancement of the vibrant colours that would amplify the; masthead, main image and social media links. “For Media texts to be successful, they must have elements of ‘Repetition’ and ‘Difference’” From my magazine of inspiration, I will use Steve Neale’s idea and repeat the location and positioning of the Masthead as this would identify to the public about the magazine brand and how this its organised layout will resemble the music industry. Also on the masthead, I would repeat the conventions of the colour scheme as this would enhance the quality of the magazine as of the bright colours would amplify the application of the key features such as the cover lines, strapline and the monthly headline. I would also repeat the use of the pull quote, as of its location and status. This would amplify the quality of the magazine as such of its purpose to attract the reader.
  • 14. What will you ‘Repeat’ (Steve Neale - 1980) DPS - TeensRule I would preferable repeat the layout of my DPS as this would give a sense and realisation that the layout would interest the reader, as of the well organised arrangement and design of the magazine double page spread. I would repeat the use of colour, as this would also intrigue the eyes of the public as of the combination of text and images that would anchor the reader into reading the content. However in my hand drawn drafts, most of the colours used, will be repeated throughout the magazine, as of a identification on the key features. For example, the magazine headline, would be kept the same; to amplify the reader about the contents that would be contained within the double page spread. As similar to the pull quote, this will anchor the reader as to what the magazine double page spread would have in relation the headline. Also, shown in my graphic layout as shown below, this layout represents a simpler version as to how the organisation of the magazine would be presented to the reader. In every issue release of my monthly magazine, this layout out of my double page spread, would be found near the beginning of the magazine, because of the continuous repetition of the organisation as to how the magazine would be exploited to the viewer’s eyes. As this double page spread would be contained within every issue of the magazine, the amplification the simplistic colours would uphold an attract to the headline/ main story and to the text; as this can vary depending on the information presented. The colour scheme shown below is an example of what would be included in the magazine. The use of the two simplistic, would be Steve Neale’s use of ‘Repetition as of the repetition of the double page spread layout, along with the repetition of small details such as: website address, masthead - brand name and social media links. Headline Text Text 6 7 Pull Quote From my magazine of inspiration, I plan to use the repetition of the the location of the masthead and the cover lines, as this would connote the continuous coordination on the layout of the double page spread. Similarly I would repeat the colour scheme based on this dps, and therefore you this to my advantage on my own magazine and therefore, make this stand out to anchor the reader into viewing my magazine.
  • 15. What will you ‘Repeat’ (Steve Neale - 1980) Layout - TeensRule In my first magazine, I would repeat the layout of the magazine because, subscribers and viewers would also have the chance to understand the layout of the magazine and give them quick access as to the variety of the different pages, with the exception of the different information presented with every new monthly issue release. The organised layout, would be repeated with every new issue, as such of the location on my main DPS, because the content page would repeat the same layout and identify the location as to where the reader wants to skip to. Along with the repetition of the colour scheme to the entire magazine would be repeated as such of the presentation of its uniqueness and how the bright colours would make the magazine stand out from the others.
  • 16. What will you ‘Different’ (Steve Neale - 1980) Front Cover - TeensRule However, with my first magazine, I would differentiate the organisation of what is on the magazine. For example, f my main image consists of two artists, the organisation of the key features presented on the magazine would be altered to enhance the quality of the magazine and reveal the popular artists, which would relate to most of the information contained within/ throughout the magazine. I would also recommend that, with every new issue the layout of my magazine front cover would have an altered perspective of the, for example, if my magazine front cover has two artists, the Masthead would be placed horizontally across the top of the magazine and the headline/ strapline would be placed directly underneath, as well as there would no a frequent indication of there being a pull quote; as this would overwhelm the reader because of the due to a large amount of information that would be crammed into one confined space.
  • 17. What will you ‘Different’ (Steve Neale - 1980) DPS - TeensRule In the circumstance of my first magazine, the main feature that I would change, would probably have to be the altering of the information the given, as although my double page spread would have the same layout with every issue release, I would change what content/ context would go on the magazine double page. For example, my first magazine release would contain, an artist interview along with main images of that artist as well as a pull quote of what they said and some additional information underneath would the artist. And with my next issue, I would have the alternative of the changing the headline to a different topic along with the rest of the layout of the double page spread, because, although this DPS would be repeated in every new release, the informational content would have a different perspective on the what context would be presented on the pages.
  • 18. What will you ‘Different’ (Steve Neale - 1980) Layout - TeensRule I would mainly alter the information that I would present within each magazine, and the information given would interest the viewer or a subscriber to the magazine to read my magazine. For instance on one of my double page spread, say for example, pages 10 & 11, I would alter the competition as in; trips, and rewards. By doing this I will be able to differentiate the perspective as to what the public want in the magazine. However, by not changing the layout of the magazine, this will allow me to achieve the content would be easily accessible to the public, as of the contents page would allow them to quickly and easily access the content they want. Furthermore, this would take away most of the magazine’s uniqueness as of the continuous repetition of the magazine the repetition of the colour scheme, the content presented should interest the reader, by anchoring them to the written verbal content of interviews and the main headline, as well as the non- verbal content of the main images. Although, with the practise of creating a front cover and a double page spread, I will be able to achieve the aspect of understand the process of the production of a magazine.

What will you ‘Repeat’ (Steve Neale - 1980) Front Cover - RockStars Main Puff Promotion Cover lines Anchorage Text Cover lines As my second magazine was inspired by the male targeted ‘RESPECT’ I would like to repeat their layout of the magazine, as for their continuous use of the location of many of their key features, such as the masthead stretch across the top of the magazine and the main headline/ strapline directly underneath. I would also repeat the positioning of the cover lines, as this magazine is targeted to the male gender, the content on the front cover, would attract the public to read the magazine, along with the repetitive use of the colour scheme as shown below and the bold text; similar to my first magazine and would enhance the quality of the magazine further, my second magazine would have an interest of what would be aimed towards the male gender. I would also repeat the position of the magazine front cover: as shown in the final graphic layout, my second magazine would have relevant and appropriate content that would draw men to the magazine.
  • 20. What will you ‘Repeat’ (Steve Neale - 1980) DPS - RockStars Text 14 15 HeadlineAnchorage Text With my double page spread, I would repeat the use of the positioning of the Headline and of the text, as this would amplify how the magazine brand is portrayed to anchor the reader to the magazine. With the use of Steve Neales’ Repetition, similarly to my double page spread of my first magazine, I would repeat the layout as of the positioning of the magazine, I would also repeat the placement of the headline and the text. This would anchor the male gender the context of the magazine and read it. The use of this repetition, would interest the reader, due to its bright and vibrant colours that would be eye-catching to the reader, in contrast to the rest of the magazine. However, in the hand drawn draft shown in the bottom right corner, I would not consider the use of the colours scheme, as such for this magazine, the male gender would prefer the use of dark colours such as; grey, black and white. Although the example on the bottom left corner, the layout of the double page spread is more clear and understanding as to how I would want to present the magazine to the male sex. I would repeat the subject of the headline, in relation to the music industry; more likely towards the male gender, as of its likelihood of pulling the reader towards the magazine. In addition, the point I am trying to get across is that, this dps that I would repeat with every issue release of the magazine, I would repeat the topic on the dps; for example, competition or interview.
  • 21. What will you ‘Repeat’ (Steve Neale - 1980) Layout - RockStars Key DPS: Pages 14 & 15 Patrice Insua 5107 = Images= Front and Back Cover With the magazine flat plan shown, I would repeat most of the double page spreads; as such of my main dps: 14&15. With a magazine that would aimed towards the male public, I would like to repeat most of the plan, as this would anchor the read a little more, similar to my first magazine, due to the quick and easy access to the magazine, in relation to the contents page, this use of Steve’s ‘Repeat’ the public would allowed to have quick and easy access to what the men want to see. I would also repeat the layout of most of the images as this would draw in the reader to what the magazine is trying to get across, as this magazine, along with my first magazine, I would like to have the repetition of most of my images, to connote that my second magazine is mainly aimed towards the male public. The main features that I would repeat would to be; ● The features of the Front and back cover, as these would notify the reader that this magazine is mainly aimed to the men. ● Contents and New issue pages, as this would help the male public with the identification of the release of the next issue, and the location of the different pages within the magazine.
  • 22. What will you ‘Different’ (Steve Neale - 1980) Front Cover - RockStars With my second magazine, The front cover would have very little changes as this magazine is aimed to the male gender, I want the layout of the front cover to anchor my target audience of the male gender to the be drawn to the magazine front cover, as well as keeping most of my front cover features. However, with every new issue release my magazine would have a different outcome, therefore this would interest the male public, as of the alterations with every new magazine release. The first feature that I would change is the the orientation of the Puff Promotion as this would alter the justification of drawing in the reader. Also, I would alter the positioning of where the barcode would go, as this would distract the reader for what the music magazine is trying to portray, therefore with most of my issue most of my issue releases, I would have the barcode placed on the back cover. • 23. What will you ‘Different’ (Steve Neale - 1980) DPS - RockStars Text 14 15 HeadlineAnchorage Text I would differentiate the use of the context, as this is the most important part when my double page spread would be repeated throughout the magazine, this is because, as shown in my hand drawn drafts I would differentiate the colours used, due to the theme of black, grey and white, the layout of my double page spread would have the colours of grey and white, with the outline of red and black which would enhance its features and therefore attract the male public to the magazine. Also similar to my first magazine, I would keep the layout of my DPS the same, however, I would alter the presentation of the context of the magazine, because my magazine would have a monthly issue release the information and presentation should vary in relation to the music industry. Finally, I would not really change very many of the features on my double page spread, except for the information and images that would be presented out the double page spread. In my second magazine, not very much information would be placed on my double page spreads as this magazine is mainly aimed towards the male public eye, as well as having information that would be appropriate and acceptable due to my age range target audience of 16 to 22
  • 24. What will you ‘Different’ (Steve Neale - 1980) Layout - RockStars Key DPS: Pages 14 & 15 Patrice Insua 5107 = Images= Front and Back Cover In the variation on the monthly magazine issue release, my magazine layout would vary, in the case of repetition of some double page spreads that may have the same or similar layout/ context in relation to the music magazine. In some cases I would differentiate the magazine flat plan every few months, as this would allow the reader to have enough time to adjust to the layout of the magazine before the next change. I have decided that the magazine flat plan would vary every few months because of the contents page, due to subscribers or reader have the accessible source to the location as to which the; competition, interview or questionnaire is located.

The magazine focuses on valid content that will not cause any disagreements. • As the magazine continues to grow, there has been more and more use of the content that the magazine aims most of their content towards; Explorers and Caregivers because of Maslow’s theory of self-motivation. • The magazine use this as an advantage to draw people into buying their magazine, however focus on the information of the news, such as; ads and leaflet, which can be found in other magazines like; Q or XXL. • The reference of the music industry in the magazine, is quite high as such of the common Personal Identification of famous celebrities and famous artists on the front covers and throughout their content. • The Personal Relationship from the magazine to the consumer suggests that they their target audience to be immersed in the factual information given. • The magazine used Katz theory with the following of advertising their website such as involving adds popping up in the center of the screen. • 26. Target Audience - Hartley’s Theory TeensRule Age Gender Class RockStars Age Gender Class With the use of Hartley’s theory, for my first magazine, I have decided to aim the content produced towards the young public between the age range of; 14 to 19. I have decided to choose this age range because, as my first magazine is aimed towards the young public, a young age range would anchor the public to that age range to the magazine, as the context would relate more towards them. Therefore, through a monthly issue release, the age range of 14 to 19 would be drawn into the magazine and in conclusion result in an appealing of young teenagers to be anchored into its content. As my first magazine is aimed to the young society of the world’s population, my first magazine would be aimed to both the male and female gender, as this magazine would contain content that would interest both genders. This magazine would have content that would anchor them both because of the context would be appropriate and relatable as of the verbal content presented, as well as the non-verbal content revealing an interest towards the male public. Although my magazine does not focus this as the key focal point, my magazine would relate to all the classes, as this will not cause any judgemental disagreements. However, most of the content that would be contained in the magazine would relate more towards the middle and upper class. In addition, my first magazine would not have it full attention on the class status, as my magazine is in relation to the musical industry, the content would not relate to the differentiation of the class status. As for my second magazine, the age range would resemble to the slightly older generation. I have decided to present my magazine and its content towards the age range of 16 to 22, I have decided on this age range, as my second magazine would contain information that would relate more to them. As of this age range, the public would be drawn into the magazine as of the verbal sna non verbal content, with the connotations of the headline, cover lines and the pull quote, In comparison to my first magazine which is aimed to both the male and female genders, my second magazine which is mainly a rock genre; the male public of my target audience will be attracted to this magazine, because of the more simplistic outcome of the front cover, as theme as well as the colours scheme, of white, grey and black would have enhance the masthead and main image of the front cover. Class is not really a key point of my second magazine as the content would be aimed to all classes. In addition the content presented would also have appropriate text that would not cause any disagreements or arguments that would relate to any of the classes.

Target Audience - Maslow’s Theory TeensRule Explorers Survivors Social Climbers Caregivers RockStars Explorers Survivors Social Climbers Caregivers If the magazine becomes a likelihood interest would the target audience of the male and female gender. Many subscribers to the magazine would like to explore the different contents within the magazine; therefore my magazine would vary in the issue content for example, some issues would contain a competition, and the next issue would have an artist interview. As my magazine does not relate to any source of survival, except in the relation to the music genre, for example music taste of the rock genre. However, the beneficial cause for the production and selling of the magazine, the benefits of the money raised will go to a good cause. Similar to survivors, the beneficial cause of having a music magazine will allow the public to interact with the magazine; updates on social media sites. The positive side of Maslow’s Theory was that social climbers would given the chance to self motivate and interact with the music magazine as well as the rest of the public. Also, Maslow wanted to achieve his theory but bringing the public together. Due to my magazine being the basis of the musical industry. My magazine content would contain entertainment that would interest the reader. For example, competition, background information of an artist, within an interview. The male public will be allowed to have an interest in exploring the wide variety of the rock background. Also by having a magazine that would allow the public to explore the wide range of the background of the music rock genre. Similar to my first magazine, the explorers would have a likelihood of view the different perspectives of how the music industry presents the different sides of ‘Rock’ Due to my second magazine having the basis of rock; my second magazine would result in the helpfulness of having content that would relate to artists; for example, background information in interviews as well as rock artists with the interest of songs/ albums. In comparison to my first magazine the content would not have a relatively high interest on social standards. Because this magazine will be pointed towards the male public the social interaction would be lower than my first magazine. However, my magazine would contain content that would interest the male public. Although my second magazine is based on mainly ‘Rock’ most of content would provide information, in which Maslow wanted to achieve in some social interaction.
  • 28. Target Audience - Katz’s Theory TeensRule Inform & Educate Personal Identification Personal Relationship Diversion RockStars Inform & Educate Personal Identification Personal Relationship Diversion As of this magazine having a relative influence on both the male and female public, my first magazine would have the likelihood informing the public about the hip-hop music genre as well as educating the younger generation about the background of the musical industry. My first magazine would have the influence of public on their personal identification. For example, over few issues, my magazine would contain a personal Q&A/ Quiz on which they will be informed on who they relate; in terms of the music industry (artists). With my first magazine, I would have entertainment advantage of drawing in the public to my magazine; mostly this will be aimed to the young public eyes of 14-19. The Personal Relationship from the magazine to the consumer suggests that they their target audience to be immersed in the factual information given. My first magazine aims to present a publication as to which the interest of a relationship between the public and the magazine. Due to hip-hop genre, the magazine aims to interact with the public about the music industry. My first magazine aims to bring both the male and female genders together by having a similar contents that would interest them both. Also this magazine aims to avoid the separation, as of the context being an anchorage connotation towards the magazine, as well as what is contained within the magazine. Finally, the magazine wants to achieve the aspect of having a likelihood to its originality of the hip-hop genre. My second magazine would have the privilege of having a opinion to the ‘rock’ genre. This contents would have a perspective that would interest the male gender to read the magazine; along with the influence of having a specific advantage focal point, that would interest the male public to read the magazine. The information presented must be eye-catching towards the male public. As of the male gender. Personal identification should relate to men between my target age range of 16-22. With the limitations of providing information that would relate to only the male genre. My second magazine must provide information that would relate to my target male audience as well as having an anchoring front and back cover that would relate to male public. My second magazine must have a subjective influence as to the relationship between the magazine and the public, along with enhancing or accentuating the possibility of the personal relationship between the age range of my target audience. However, this magazine will be only aimed at the male gender; this provide a diversion as to the magazine having a separation between the male and female genders. Also, the social interaction would be less in comparison to my first magazine.

  • 41. Issue Date: 07/07/2018 Why? Why did I choose this Issue date? What could affect the issue date? Why would this date be appropriate for my target audience? Why would this magazine be suitable for this issue date? -For my first magazine, I decided to go for the issue date of a week or two into the summer holidays. I choose this date because my target audience, may or may not be quite active; this would therefore allow me to release my magazine to the public that would interest them to view my magazine, in the locations of a widely populated areas. The issue date of the summer break may increase the number of issues released and bought; therefore this may help the company with their increase in profit that would benefit the production process of the magazine. -Along with my second magazine, I also decided to choose the issue date of during the summer holidays because, this is when most of the population will be on vacation, and by selling a new product to the public may allow them a chance to review the music magazine. -As my first magazine is aimed at the young target audience of the ages 14-29, the date of release a few weeks into the summer holidays, would be suitable for those who would like to be entertained and also have an interest in the release of a new magazine would anchor the public to view my first magazine. By having my magazine released to the public on this date was because, of the content contained within my magazine would be interesting and also anchor the public to my magazine, as such the content would relate quite well to the theme of summer; due to the bright colours involved and the images include might also relate to the mood of summer. -As for my second magazine, my target audience for this magazine is aimed at the slightly older generation of the male public with the age range of 16-22, factors that may affect the date of release could be the effectiveness of the number of copies launched and sold. -With a young target audience, this may interest the viewer to read my magazine, because, of the genre: hip-hop; the young target audience may be attracted to the magazine, with the likelihood of the content, containing information that would entertain those who may be interested in music. As of the release of summer vacation, this issue date would be appropriate for my target audience because, teenagers would have the chance to gain inspiration, or to be entertained by the musical genre. -In comparison to my first magazine, this issue release date would also be suitable for the older male public as of the summer vacation season, this may allow them to have the entertainment of a music magazine with content that relates to the spectacle of the ‘Rock’ genre. -My target audience, which is normally based on the young generation of today’s population, is mostly likely to be interested along the musical aspect of information, in relation to the musical industry of hip-hop and pop music; in relations to the use of bold and bright colours, this magazine would be suitable for a launch date of a few weeks into summer vacation, the young public would be anchored into the magazine as well as its content. -With the theme of black and white, the slightly older generation is most likely to be anchored into a magazine that would have a release date of a few weeks into the summer holidays. By having a release date that is the same as my first magazine, this could provide the public with a variety of choice between the two magazines.

  • 43. Profit and Loss Breakdown Background Advertising Marketing Equipment Cost My magazine will have a buying cost of £3.50 and therefore with this affordable price would increase profit in the distribution of copies sold. As for a magazine costing a reasonable price, the advantage of selling roughly 2000 copies of my magazine monthly, the result in having 1500 copies sold, will result in 500 copies loss of not being distributed. Furthermore, as presented in the ‘Pricing’ column, the printing quotes and the cost of the magazine will cost a price of £20.35 each, which will result in the achievement of buying and distributing 2000 copies of the magazine will result in the total cost of £1,832.63. Each magazine that would be sold in ideal locations that would be suitable for the magazine will cost £3.50 to buy, which will result in the profit of £7,000 I plan to distribute my magazine in popular locations, for instance; WHSmith and local supermarkets such as ‘Tesco’ and ‘Sainsbury’s’ Along with the distribution of my magazine being sold in local areas, I plan to sell my magazine in the mail, as well as download from the magazine international website. Due to this, the magazine would increase in profit as of the £3.50 pricing. Although advertising my magazine would be a challenge the use of distributing my magazine in popular locations and other branches that could increase the profit of the magazine, this would result in the beneficial indication of the magazine and help the company and the production of the magazine itself. Therefore, the total overall cost of advertising the magazine will equal a total of £230,683. With a helpful magazine production company, the advantage of Marketing the magazine would also increase the profit and the distribution of the amount of magazines being sold each month every year. However with only 2000 copies of the magazine being produced and distributed; the Marketing and Finance member will have the advantage of indicating the magazine in a variety of different locations; online and in store. Along with the usefulness of an organised magazine production team; having a ‘Marketing and Finance’ team and team leader, will allow the magazine to have a positive outcome profit of creating awareness and social interaction to boost the profit and sales of the magazine. Finally, the distribution of the magazine would include the retail costs of where I could sell my magazine and increase the profit gained. By planning and contributing the price of the production of the magazine, this would result in the amount and pricing plan of how much the production of the magazine will cost and the result of the distribution will cost. Pricing ● Along with the payment weekly salary of the staff, ● Costing price of the production of the magazine ● Costing of how much each magazine costs ● The standard delivery of 2000 copies The pricing of the production company of producing the magazine will result in the the advantage of profiting from the magazine, however the loss of affording how the magazine will be produced and distributed. Along with the additional production of the magazine and the costing of the printing quotes and cost, the magazine company would loss profit, due to the high pricing of printing 2000 magazines, and printing each magazine individually. Along with the pricing of the equipment cost, the profitable loss will have an effect on the overall loss that the magazine company will gain and will lose in the span of one year. As shown in the next slide, the overall breakdown of the how much the company will profit from and what the company will lose money from.

  • 45. Conclusion To conclude this unit study research was collect the needed content of planning, designing and publishing my own magazine from scratch. Similar to the research I did in Unit 13 and Unit 14, the evaluation of my magazine through this unit is to conclude the processes and planning as to create a magazine and key features that must be consistent throughout; for instance, Colour Scheme and Font Style. As of a result of this unit, the research evaluation I have completed was to relate to the aim of Unit 30: UK Media Publishing, therefore, by creating and evaluating my own two magazines was to connote the example of ‘UK Media Publishing’ and therefore imply the production planning and process to create a magazine.
