Unit 15 LO4 Print-Based Advertising – Media Pitch Script
Intro: Hello and welcome to my Unit 15 pitch on Print-Based Advertising.
Proposals: After doing some research on my chosen inspiration of the music
festival ‘Panorama’ in LO1, I began the planning process in LO2. In my
proposal, I needed to think about the important features as shown for
instance, the name of my festival, my chosen target audience and what style
and approach I will be going for.
However with this unit, I decided to create a festival poster and a magazine
back page advertisement. In relation to my proposal, I had to think about
both of my products and how they link.
Mind map: I had to create two different mind maps for my print-based
products as some certain features were different, for example the frequency
for my poster was a year-on-year basis, and my magazine back page was a
monthly frequency. Overall, for both of my mind maps I had to consider the
similarities and differences.
Mood boards: For both my products, I researched my festival of inspiration
‘Panorama’ and did a mood board of inspiration with image examples of their
poster and magazine. This helped me get inspired on the layout and types of
colours they used for further help in the production of my product.
Hand Drawn Drafts: I decided to produce a variety of different drafts layouts.
The top four are design ideas are for my poster and the bottom four are for
my magazine back pages. I have chosen to create a range of ideas on how I
could create both products.
Graphics Layouts: I also needed to create my graphic layouts which were
easier for me to understand and helped me further in my production process.
The top four are design for my poster and the bottom four are designs for my
magazine back page.
Campaign Message: Keeping in mind the message that I needed to convey, I
wanted to think about the campaign message which I have also mentioned in
my proposal. Here I have included the definition, how would I interpret this in
my product and what is the Unique Selling Point, through my inspiration from
Panorama.
Font Style: The useful website of Dafont.com, has helped me search for
particular font styles. Here I have experimented with six different fonts; I
have also included the name of my own festival so that I could visually see
what the font style looked like on the name.
In the end, I went for the font styles of Neon 80s and Belle rose for my
festival poster as the style of both fonts had a bit of an old school feel; and I
chose Didot and Hanna Monica by which the both fonts had a magazine
approach.
Logo Design: Although, I didn’t include my logo in my final products; I
decided to create a logo that would link to my sponsorship company “Sunset
Horizon”. I also needed to consider my colour scheme that was inspired by
my festival of inspiration ‘Panorama’
Photoshoot Plan – Poster: Using the template given, I create my plan
explaining the needed features as shown for my poster. My photoshoot plan
for my poster consists of brief information upon the subtopic such as; Project
Description, Casting, Models etc.
Photoshoot Plan – Magazine: I used the same template as my poster,
however complete a different write up as both products were different. With
my magazine I also had to consider the given topics for instance, Reference
Images, Location and Times
House Style: I have decided on these colours for my festival poster and my
magazine back page advertisement; as I wanted to use primary colours that
would contrast very well to white and black. I chose bright red, dark blue and
sun yellow as I wanted my products to convey a sunset feel. I have also gone
into depth as to why I used these colours and how I have been inspired by
the ‘Panorama’ music festival.
Main Headliners/ Artists: Keeping in mind the likes and interest in
international known music artists and celebrities; I needed to think about
which artists would suit the genre of my festival. Here I have done a brief on
the artists/ celebrities and I have also included images.
Audio-Visual Advertisements: I needed to consider how I would advertise my
festival through popular social media platforms such as Facebook and
Twitter. Overall, the use of Audio-Visual advertisements would be a faster
media form in advertising my festival.
Production Plan: In creating my product for my company, I created a
production plan. I decided to make my plan a four week process where each
day there would be a specific task and below, there would be the deadline for
that task to my completed by; create my plan so that the weekends would
be free.
Location Recce: A location recce was breakdown of the focal points of:
Location, Pictures needed, Permission from model and any potential hazards.
What I have completed here was that I created the three sections by which
the first section was the full brief, the second section was for my poster and
the final for my magazine.
Photoshoot Images: I needed to consider the types of shooting locations,
modelling and clothing styles where my images needed to link to my House
Style and ideas in my mind map.
Risk Assessment (Part 1): This first half of my risk assessment, I needed to
explain the three main features of: Photography, Area and Technical
Software. I have briefed these three topics and explain the risk and the
solution for the hazards I may encounter.
Risk Assessment (Part 2): The second part for my risk assessment was a
checklist in specific topics and their sub-topics. For example, Camera/Lighting
where I needed to consider the window direction and size of location; in the
given space, I explained each specific sub-topic in more depth.
Budgeting Summary: Considering prices and equipment needed, I researched
the prices of specific equipment and staff budgeting. I also needed to
consider the print-based advertising rates with sizes and costs.
Issues: This slide includes the main topics of the types of issues that I needed
to consider when creating my product and advertising my product. Here I
have explained each needed topic and how this would link to my print—
based advertisement.
Copyright: This was the focal point for both my festival poster and magazine
back page advertisement. What I have included in this slide was the
definition, how does this link to the company ABC and how does this relate to
my product.
Step-by-step Poster: Here is an example of a step-by-step for my poster. I
have included the tools I used and the steps I took to link to the screenshot.
Step-by-step Magazine: Here is another example of my magazine step-by-
step where I have also followed the layout from my poster with the tools,
screenshot and steps taken.
Final Product Drafts Poster: For my final products, I have created two
separate drafts where I have changed specific features and explained which
draft I prefer.
Final Product Drafts Magazine: I have also created two drafts of my
magazine, where I have also explained what I have changed and which draft I
prefer.
Final Products: Here I have shown my chosen final magazine and my chosen
final poster. I have decided on these print-based products because I really like
how I am able to see the base image and that the colours used from my
House Style are laid out well on my products.
Survey Monkey: I have emailed you all a link to my survey, along with my
product drafts and chosen final products.
Thank you for listening to my presentation.
