The article, Relationship Between Language Skills and Acquisition Rate of Sight Words Among
English Language Learners, by Matthew K. Burns and Lori A. Helman, is about the study conducted
on English language learners (ELL). The study examined the sight word acquisition rate (AR) of 43
second grade students who were English language learners (ELL) from three diverse, urban schools.
The acquisition rate (AR) is the amount of information a child can successfully rehearse and later
recall (CITATION). The 43 secondgraders that were used for the study speak the language Hmong,
which is a Chinese dialect, and it is also their first language. Children that are ELL are a diverse group
of students that have some unmet academic needs (CITATION). One solution to this problem is to
improve the individualized instruction for ELL. Teachers should recognize the student s skill level and
match their skill level with the appropriate task. Meaning that teachers should not give the student
material that is too hard for them to comprehend. When given the right material, the students can
effectively learn what is needed. So, for the study researchers examined the effect of imagery level on
word reading. The researchers would present the ELL with 40 words at a time whether they knew
them or not. The cards containing the words were presented one at a time to each child in a clustered
random order (CITATION). If the child could not correctly identify at least eight of the words, then
words taken from the first list of words. If the child correctly identified all 40 words selected, then the
words selected from the third list of words were used. The presentation order of words taken from
each of the three word lists was randomly determined. Words were identified as known if the student
orally read the word correctly within 2 seconds. Any word not read correctly or requiring more than 2

Without reading the back cover, you would have no idea the path that this play would take, from

The Failure to Cope
J.D. Salinger drops the reader into the middle of his stories. Without any sense of characters, setting,
or plot, the reader is thrown into the lives of others as they scramble to unearth the truth behind the
scenes. Salinger provides complex stories of relatable characters; some are stories of happiness and
others are of loss and dysfunction. Often times, the characters have difficulties dealing with the harsh
realities of their lives and have to look towards alternate means of coping. Society fosters an overly
structured environment with little room for atypical relationships, ideals, and behaviors. Anything that
is outside of the normal is immediately written off and labeled as deviant behavior, something that is
often frowned upon in this day and age. The characters in Nine Stories by J.D. Salinger use various
coping mechanisms to escape the reality that societal norms and traditionalism present. Seymour
Glass of A Perfect Day for Bananafish is a twisted character who, having returned from the traumas of
war, has a hard time fitting back into a routine of normalcy. His partner, Muriel, is more interested in
the material things that surround her than she is with her lover. When Seymour cannot find the
partnership that he needs with Muriel, he is forced to switch to an alternate source of companionship.
He meets a young girl named Sybil on the beach, and quickly bonds with her.

Many people multitask, for some it is a daily routine. Multitasking is not a bad thing, however it is not
always good. Texting and driving is a bad example. Listening to music and doing homework is not a
bad thing, but it is not always efficient. There are both good and bad examples of multitasking.
Multitasking can be done in certain situations. A large amount of people multitask every day. Some
people say it is good, others say it is bad. Research shows that only about five percent of us multitask

University found that students that watch TV and read a book at the same time are more emotionally

This research will be processed by using qualitative methods, specifically semi structured interview.
Semi structured interviews are a valuable research method when focus of the study is exploring
meanings and subjective perceptions (Gilham, 2000). Furthermore, semi structured interview is
appropriate when the focus of research is primarily on gaining insights and disclosure of personal
experiences or meanings.
This research will be designed to gather information about the mothers of child aged 0 5 who has been
fostered at young age. It will be focused on sharing their experiences as a foster child, how they would
want to rear their children, what was most difficult being a raised by non biological parents, and how
they would want to establish bonding with their child. If they feel their certain behaviour to the child
is caused due to personal foster history. The mothers with at least one pre school child will receive an
invitation to engage in the study. The population sample size will be determined by the constraints of
limited resources, the number of interviews to be managed and the time and resources available
(Bryman, 2012). The participants will be selected to establish range of wide spectrum including age,
ethnicity, socio economic, and kin and non kin placement to provide consequential meanings through
interviews. From this cohort, 12 mothers of children who may be risk of poor attachment development
