Essay On No Exit
No Exit by Jean Paul Sartre is a play about three characters in hell. Joseph Garcin, Inez Serrano,
and Estelle Rigault committed a sin when they were alive on Earth. Now, they are stuck in hell
together in one room. Garcin, Inez, and Estelle don t know each other and meet for the first time
in the room. They are suspicious of each other as to why they were placed in the same room
together. They are not quick to reveal what sins they have committed on Earth and slowly reveal it
one by one. With each of them having different personalities, they clash and become the perfect
torturers for each other in hell.
Joseph Garcin used to be a journalist and ran a pacifist newspaper. Garcin s death was caused by
12 bullets fired at him. At first, he appeared to be a gentleman who doesn t want to cause trouble
to other people around him. Garcin gently says, I wish neither of you any harm, and I ve no
concern with you. (pdf, 11) He wanted to respect and be polite to the two other women in the room
with him. However, the revelation of his sin tells a different story to him. Garcin mistreated his
wife and came home with ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Inez puts Garcin down while Estelle bothers him for attention. Garcin has Estelle s attention and
Estelle becomes someone Inez can never have. Inez has Garcin s attention while Garcin gives a
cold shoulder to Estelle. Garcin s idea that hell is other people is true in their cases. All of the
characters are never able to get what they want in hell and their hell became each other. None of
the characters are put through physical pain and only mental pain. Each character picks on each
other s weakness, greed, and self esteem. Garcin and Estelle experience bad faith as they need
someone to them who they are. Inez is the closest to existentialism as she looks at action over
opinion. None of the characters are able to get away from each other and are trapped to deal with
each other forever and

Advantages And Disadvantages Of Phased Effort Distribution
3.2.1Phased effort distribution
Reasonable resources allocation to software phases is a vital factor for the success of software
projects‎[52].Effort distribution to phases is the key to a more efficient resource allocation.
This approach is proposed to estimate the effort of migrated services. The effort is estimated for
different project phases. The service s cost often varies depending on the migration strategy used;
this is mainly because each migration strategy has its own cost factors. In this approach, the cost
factors of SOA are extracted from previous literatures .These cost factors are distributed among
SOA project phases. Each cost factor is given a weight for each migration strategy. These weights
of different factors are grouped by project phase. All the weights of all factors are aggregated per
migration strategy. The relative effort ratio for each phase is calculated by dividing the total
weights of the phase factors to the total weight of the migration strategy The whole process is
summarized in Figure 12. Figure 12: Block ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These factors are as follow: Migration duration, level of tools support, performance post migration,
integration costs which involve systems integration with business partners cost and difficult to

discussed in both ‎ ‎[25]and‎[31].
Another research ‎[32] has evaluated migration strategies from technical value and both cost
and business value. For the purpose of our research, only business value will be considered.

The Significance of Calphurnia s Insignificance in Julius...
Behind every man, there is a woman. As seen throughout history, society has dumped women into
a lower rank. Women have been seen as much less significant and less important as pertaining to
men. This idea of society s own patriarchal illustration can be seen in William Shakespeare s The
Tragedy of Julius Caesar, in which Julius Caesar s wife, Calphurnia, is left widely unnoticed and
highly insignificant although she holds an image that is really quite important. In The Tragedy of
Julius Caesar, Julius Caesar is seen as what the image history has portrayed him as, a fine general of
Rome s vast military but also a general of an ill mindand ignorance that is upon him. This ill mind
and ignorance is derived from his power and the abuse that came with the power. His abuse of
power is widely seen throughout The Tragedy of Julius Caesar as he seizes his power from the
Rome senate and everyone and everything. This abuse is also summarized in Brutus s response
of Caesar s power as he describes Caesar as a serpent egg and provides a forewarning of the
dangers of Caesar s power as it becomes more and more prevalent throughout the first half of the
story before his death. As it is shown that the assumptions pertaining to Caesar are true; it is also
developed that Caesar begins to overlook his surroundings, of which includes his beloved wife,
Calphurnia. As the story progresses, we find that Calphurnia s nature can be described as shy,
reclusive, and very quiet in her ways.

Summary Of Nathaniel Hawthorne s The Blithedale Romance
America s inception stemmed from the desire to create a society which differed from those
before it. By taking the best pieces of previous civilizations, the founding fathers strived to create
a perfectly formed society based on equality, a balance of power, and the independence of man to
pursue their own dreams. Literature of this period and more specifically the 19th century often
deals with experimentations on this very basis for society. Does one favor the individual over the
community or ignore the personal desires of the individual in favor of a collective mindset?
Experimenting with the makings of a utopia, defined by Merriam Webster as, a place of ideal
perfection especially in laws, government, and social conditions creates a serious question on the
plausibility of a perfect society. Dealing with this very quandary first hand, Nathaniel Hawthornes
The Blithedale Romance is an experimentation on forming a perfect utopia. Within the novel, the
desires of the individual are squandered in favor of the collective. In reading Hawthorne, one gets
the sense that the world is just out of reach for him. Attaching a mysticism to everything detaches
the characters from any sense of reality, meaning that any experiment they set out on should be met
with suspicion. Whereas in Henry David Thoreaus Walden, Thoreau places the individual on a
higher plane than the community. Going into the woods, Thoreau detaches himself from society in
a far different manner than Hawthorne, with

Toy Story 3 Hero Journey Analysis
Imagine your biggest nightmare facing death. Now imagine the same nightmare but with your
life along with your best friends and loved one life on the line. That is how it is for heroes such
as Woody. All your decisions leading up to one death defining event. Which you hope all those
decisions were the best you could have made. Then, finally at the last moment, while you are
tasting death, you escape. This is the type of experiences heros go through. Therefore, in the film,
Toy Story3, the storyteller uses the hero s journey and a mentor to reveal that we as humans want
our heroes to be courageous and determined, because society wants our heros to overcome
challenges and learn from their past experiences.
Throughout the film, the hero s ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As they are all escaping the daycare, Lotso approaches and pushes them into the dumpster.
Thankfully for Woody, the baby expresses his good heart and throws in Lotso into the dumpster
with them. Sadly, the dumpster was just picked up and was off to the landfill. As they were
fighting to get out of the landfill before the big fire, Lotso escapes and leave Woody behind.
Woody and his friends were doomed, but at the last second the claw came down (controlled by
the Aliens), and were picked them up and brought to safety. Finally, Woody returned and brought
the gift of, being a hero to his friends, and the gift of remembering his past mistakes. The hero s
journey in Toy Story 3 was expressed through the toy cowboy: Woody. Throughout his journey, he
learned to be courageous and to be determined. As he was being taught through the journey and
by the mentor he was learning how to become a hero. Without this key journey, the story of the
movie would not be the same. Instead, the path of the story could have been accepting your
mistakes because of the mistake of going to daycare. But from the journey, he learned a different
lesson and is now a hero for helping his friends get out of the daycare.
Throughout the film, the Telephone (mentor) guided Woody to the path of success, to complete his
goal and help his friends. And without a mentor, hero s cannot carry out their functions. Telephone,

Australia Belonging
The film Australia directed by Baz Luhrmann, features many different cultures, one of which is the
Aboriginal culture. Luhrmann covers many different aspects of the Aboriginal culture such as the
portrayals of the stolen generations, half castes and the assimilation policy.
Luhrmann addresses the stolen generations aspect of the Aboriginal culture through the character
Nullah. There is one scene where Fletcher has told the authorities that there is a half caste at
Faraway Downs. Nullah hides in the water tank with his mother who ends up drowning in the water
tank which they thinks is empty. The coppers or authorities use another Aboriginal man who can
apparently sniff out any half castes who are hiding, to find Nullah but they have no ... Show more

There was not one shot throughout the film that showed where the Aboriginal pastoral workers
lived and what the state of their living was like. Luhrmann made it look like the workers would
live at their bosses ranch instead of their shelters made of bark and branches which had no clean
water, no sanitation and no electricity. Luhrmann portrays all of the Aborigines as workers who
get given quality rations and get paid, but in fact, the Aborigines would never get paid. The real
struggle between landowners and workers was briefly shown when Luhrmann shows the audience
that they have a limited number of workers when they go to move the cattle. They only had a
small number of trained Aborigines to help move the cattle when they actually needed more to
complete the move. They end up training up the female Aborigines along with Lady Sarah and
Nullah to help move the cattle which in that time would have been a breakthrough and made the
Aborigines feel more equal and appreciated. During the movement of the cattle, the cattle get a
fright and charge towards the edge of the cliff. They do everything they can to stop the cattle from
going off the edge. This powerful scene is a metaphor Luhrmann wanted to portray. The cattle at
the edge of the cliff are a metaphor for the long history of massacres of indigenous people, often at
the edge of

Characters In William Shakespeare s Hamlet As A Tragic Hero
In the play Hamlet , Shakespeare dramatises the revenge found within Prince Hamlet when he is
greeted upon by his father s ghost who calls for him to avenge his death. Throughout the play you
come to find that Hamlet s uncle is the one that killed his father, in order to steal the fair maiden
and the throne . With these occurrences happening in Hamlets life he is known as a tragic hero. It
takes three things to be considered a Tragic Hero: Being from Noble Blood, has a tragic flaw,
and experiences a downfall. Hamlet begins with noble intentions whenever he introduced to a
new conflict, throughout the play his never ending peril and conflicts reign over him until his
death. Sadly, Hamlet died before he could see any of the outcomes from his actions. In
Shakespeare s Hamlet the leading character, Hamlet faces three turning points that caused him to
ultimately be named a Tragic hero: the death of his father, the impeccable use of his words, and
his ability to fake his madness to get a confession from his uncle, which ultimately ended with his
demise. In Act 1 Scene 5, Hamlet s father appears once again, but this time had the intent to talk
to Hamlet. With a bitter tongue and a sincere warning, Hamlet s father exhorted, Tis given out
that, sleeping in my orchard. A serpent stung me; so the whole ear of Denmark. Is by a forged
process of my death. Rankly abused: but know, thou noble youth. The serpent that did sting thy
father s life. Now wears his crown. (Act 1 Scene

Walnut Street Jail Thesis
Walnut Street Jail
The Walnut Street Jail was first built as a city jail in 1773 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The jail
was named after the streets it was located in which were sixth and Walnut streets. The Jail then
expanded in 1790 in which a penitentiary house was added. Walnut Street Jail is considered the
United States first penitentiary house because no other jail was single celled. During that time,
jails that existed did not believe in the idea that inmate can change. The jail was built in
Pennsylvania due to overcrowding in another jail called High Street Jail. Even though Walnut
Street Jail opened as a local jail, they also had a plan for their inmates. This plan was to look at
criminals positively and hope for them to change. Walnut ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

Even though the prison was improving its conditions, they did not think about expanding even
more. The purpose of the prison was to rehabilitate inmates through solitary confinement and with
the overcrowding, it was impossible. With the overcrowding, prisoners began to fight each other
and caused violent outbreaks. Soon it became unhealthy, dirty, and unsafe for inmates. In the end,
the jail failed due to poor architecture and lack of staying organized. About 30 to 40 inmates
were being placed in one room where they would all have to seep on the floor. It failed to focus
on their goal which was to keep prisoners separately so that they could self reflect. Later, the
Eastern Pennsylvania Prison was built to replace the Walnut Street Jail. A prison in which also put

360 Degree Photography Affordances and Constraints
Media has changed vastly over the decades. We have different styles of media, different ways to
view media, and so many different options when it comes to creating media. A recent technology
that has started to gain traction is 360 degree photography. This new technology allows people to
view more than traditional 2 D perspective. With this new way of being able to capture a scene
comes many affordances and constraints.
Being able to capture everything around you, then allow another person to experience entirely the

Having devices that allow us to put on a headpiece and be put into another reality is a huge step for
media.
With these devices, unfortunately, come many constraints. The content creator has more options
for what the viewer can see, but at the same time it may not be what they want the viewer to see.
In most forms of media today there is a main point that the viewer is observing. 2 D perspective
video creators are able to change perspectives of how the viewer sees the media, but with 360
degrees the viewer may not see it in the same way the original creator intended. The viewer may
even miss main points entirely because they were looking around and the main point of a video was
behind them. On top of this the viewer may not even be able to watch the video. Many people
report nausea when watching videos in 360 degrees. If there is not a way to ensure people do
not feel sick while watching the videos, that means that this media will be limited by the
number of people who are able to tolerate it. Being able to create the quality of content that is
currently available on 2 D platforms may be difficult could also be an issue. Movie shoots
require a lot of people and equipment, which is all behind the camera when only shooting one
perspective. In a 360 movie you have to make sure you are capturing the things you want and
nothing more. There is most likely going to be more work creating

The Many Themes in Sherwood Anderson s Winesburg, Ohio Essay
The Many Themes in Winesburg, Ohio
Winesburg, Ohio is a compilation of short tales written by Sherwood Anderson and published as a
whole in 1919. The short tales formulate the common themes for the novel as follows: isolation and
loneliness, discovery, inhibition, and cultural failure.
In order to examine these themes, Anderson s history must be understood and examined to provide
illumination upon why Anderson came to such beliefs about human life. Sherwood Anderson was
born on September 13, 1876, in Camden, Ohio. In 1884, Anderson and his family moved to the
small town of Clyde, Ohio. Clyde, Ohio, is the model for the town of Winesburg. Anderson hated

At the end of the story Adventure, Anderson writes began trying to force herself to face bravely
the fact that many people must live and die alone, even in Winesburg (Anderson, Sherwood). The
themes of loneliness and isolation are expressed by describing the characters as grotesques. The
grotesques are the people who have become obsessed with an idea or mannerism, such that, they
have lost contact with their fellow Man. Anderson sets the course for the theme of isolation in the
first three chapters, excluding The Book of the Grotesque.
The first chapter is called Hands and involves the sad story of Wing Biddlebaum. Because
Biddlebaum is accused of having molested students that he taught, his hands embody the shame
that he carries. Fearing that the presence of his hands will be misinterpreted, Biddlebaum hides his
expressive hands. By creating the symbol of hands in this chapter, Anderson creates an effective
symbol to express the theme of isolation in the novel. Because a person s physical hands are used
to communicate feeling, Hands is a tale about one of the sources of isolation, the inability to
communicate feeling.
Paper Pills is the second chapter of the novel and deals with another cause of isolation, the inability
to communicate thought. Because Doctor Reefy is afraid of communicating directly to another
person, he writes his thoughts on little pieces of paper to prevent his

Hepatitis C is an inflammatory condition of the liver that ultimately results in cirrhosis
consequently leading up to liver cell cancer due to a blood borne virus. The infection is usually

transmitted is from the transfusion of unscreened blood, improper sterilization of invasive medical

66% of Pakistan s population live in rural areas underlying the geographical issues with suffering
from Hepatitis C. The geographical consequences mainly ly with the isolation the rural population
have from the productive and thriving urban cities of the country. Individuals are unable to be a
part of an exponentially growing economy as they are unfortunately marked as the less prosperous

of working age who are without work, available for work and actively seeking employment. This
effectively contributes to the prevalence rate as due to being unemployed people are unable to
afford necessities, such as Hepatitis C treatment, since there is no government system in place in
aid of the unemployed. However, if an individual is employed and earning an income, the income
may not be sufficient enough to accommodation an appropriate and successful course of treatment.

Santander Case Summary
The lending strategy followed by Santander involved auto finance, retailers, and financial services.
For the auto finance and retail loans, they used an indirect approach. The indirect approach was
dependent on the ability of car dealers and retailers to attract customers and market its credit.
Therefore, when the partner car dealers sat down with new customers, they would propose SCF s
car and durables loans. This strategy removed direct contact with the customer and the customers
would not know that SCF was behind the loan. For this reason, it was imperative to find the right
car dealers and retailers to partner with.
For SCF s other products, they used a direct approach, which meant that they had to rely on their

More specifically, local employees reduced risks related to each country because they were more
familiar with the culture, economy, and regulations. Due to their knowledge, locals were also put
in charge of product development to reduce the risks of new products. Of course, when the product
presented new risks, they had to be properly approved by a central committee. Through this
structure, SCF could learn by collecting as much data as possible and acquire experience from the
different businesses it ran. Incidentally, the fact that they had such widespread coverage across
different countries allowed them to further spread risk.
According to the case article, SCFfinanced loans through senior debt, securitized pools of car loans,

The Scratch Of A Pen Chapter Summaries
The Scratch of a Pen by Colin Calloway helps further our understanding of what was happening
during and after the Treaty of Paris. He explains all of the empires in the nation and how they
changed throughout the Seven Years War and leading to the Revolution. While many historians
focus on the Anglo centric perspective of America, Calloway makes sure to stray from this. By
focusing on all of the groups in America he is able to integrate them to show just how complicated
the Treaty s effects were. Calloway also shows these affects as the led up to the Revolution in the
1770s. By looking at different empires and their interactions he shows just how much change

After the Treaty of Paris, the French are stripped of much of their land however, many people

People like Duc de Choiseul tried to rebuild the empire and stand up against the British. This was
difficult since many left or fled from the area. Jesuits left the area trying to find new areas for
missions but were subdued by many different groups. The Spanish especially tried to stop the
Jesuits. Many scattered through North America. In Louisiana, they tried to rebuild with little
avail. The Treaty of Paris did protect the French rights but they had no money and little
settlement. The British did make efforts to try to assimilate the people left however, many
attempts failed since many Americans wanted to forget about the French. Some government did
change and English tried to implement their economy to the areas. French were also split up and
sent to other colonies, many who did not like their presence. Another act called the Quebec Act
of 1774 secured French law but changed the justice laws to English and allowed an open
economy with support of English. Calloway makes sure not to summarize all the French in one

Social Expectations Of Women In Dracula
Women and Sex in Bram Stoker s Dracula
The novel Dracula, written by Bram Stoker, is a very dark and gothic story that has many
themes. Although the most controversial theme throughout the story is Stokers opinion on
women during the Victorian era. The novel was written in 1897, a time where chastity, and
etiquette were expected to be demonstrated by every model citizen. However there was a huge
controversial issue during that time about women. More specifically the social expectations of
women. Women during the Victorian era women were expected to behave appropriately to social
standards at all times, especially around men. Although there was a large majority that supported
the idea of The New Woman , which was a term for a new type of women. One where the social
expectations of women were completely disregarded as they felt they had constrictions with these
social expectations and preferred to be shown as equals. This idea of The New Woman is shown in
the story Dracula and the author, Bram Stoker, uses the characters and their unfortunate situations
to express his opinion on this new concept: The New Woman.
The New Woman was an idea in the Victorian era that proposed women should not have to follow
certain social standards. In an article by Carol A. Senf she explains that The New Woman had
certain characteristics that went against the social standard. The New Woman was often a
professional woman who chose financial independence and personal fulfilment

Mesopotamia Vs Egypt
Mesopotamia and Egypt two ancient civilization who have so much in common, yet are also
different in many ways. These two civilization both share geographic characteristics. Even though
Mesopotamia was brought up in 5000 BCE a whole 1900 years before Egypt, they both used
similar techniques to grow their civilizationto what they were. (Acrobatiq, 2014) Like Egypt, the

Should Pennies Be Eliminated Research Paper
Benchmark A
In my opinion, i think pennies should be eliminated. I believe this because they don t have enough
value in it so they are just in a piggy bank not being used. Another reason why pennies should be
removed from the money system is because it takes up too much time to count all of them. Pennies
are unnecessary to have they are just taking up space in our pockets, just to make a penny 1.5 cents
which is the same as a penny. these are my reasons why i believe pennies should not be made
anymore
Pennies are not useful because of their value Their is no purpose of having it on the money system.
1 cent is nothing when your going to go grocery shopping. Therefore, many people don t like to
use pennies they just let it take up space

Heroes Are Our American Heroes
Veterans are our American heroes because they made it their responsibility to protect the United
States and risked their lives for our country to give us this freedom and wealth. The stress
combined with having to leave their families for such a long time can leave a huge impact on
them that they have to fight through. Without these devoted people, the America that we know
and believe in today would not be present. One reason veterans are our American heroes is that
they paid the very high prices that our liberty and freedom costed with many lives and their own
lifeblood. Many of us today live lives centered on taking care of our own personal wants and
needs, but veterans put our well being ahead of their own. In other words,

Flossing Informative Speech
Most of us know that brushing and flossing go hand in hand when it comes to good oral health.
Brushing with a minty toothpaste makes our mouths feel fresh so it s easy to remember to
include it in our daily routine; but flossing is often an afterthought if it s a thought at all. If you
visit your dental clinic in Frisco TX twice a year for your checkups, your dentist or hygienist
likely asks if you re remembering to floss and you know you usually answer yes even though you
really can t remember the last time you did it. What s the big deal with flossing? Is it really that
important? Dental plaque is basically a biofilm made up of the bacteria that live in your mouth.
The film adheres to your teeth and gums. When you feed the bacteria carbohydrates, like those
found in sugar, milk, soft drinks, candy and cake, they not only multiply faster, they produce an
acid that leads to tooth decay and gum disease. When you visit your dental clinic in Frisco TX,
they will tell you that the longer this acidic plaque remains on your teeth, the more likely you ll
develop cavities or gum disease. They ll also tell you how important it is to remove as much of
this plaque film as possible with thorough brushing at least twice a day and flossing once a day....

The key to flossing is taking the time to do it right and reach all the areas you need to reach. In
fact, how well you floss is more important than when you floss although the commonly held
wisdom that flossing before bed is best is probably, well, best. During the night, the saliva we
produce that washes away bacteria is reduced so a nice, clean mouth is a good thing to go to sleep

institute was to gain public support and knowledge of spaceflight. All of this shows that Wernher
Von Braun was dedicated to researching technology for the peaceful exploration of spaceflight.
His attempt in Germany and work at NASA are the best examples of how dedicated he was to his

Wernher Von Braun helped to create a lot of complex technology in his work in Germany and at
NASA that impacted WWII and the space race. Some examples of this technology are liquid

an extremely large impact. Wernher Von Braun created the forerunner of all ballistic missiles, the
A4. The missile was later renamed Vengeance Weapon 2 by the propaganda minister of Germany.
All later ballistic missiles were based on the design of the V2. The V2 itself was a terrifying
weapon. It killed 2000, seriously injured 6000, and destroyed many buildings, and harmed
infrastructure.

The Chef With Jon Favreau
Top Dog and Underdog
Do you think you are having a hard month? Have you ever felt like the underdog and you aren t
every going to be on top? Then you should watch the movie The Chef with Jon Favreau. The
Chef is a great film about a Head Chef, who quits his high end restaurant job and buys a food
truck to reclaim his creative promise; while piecing back together his estranged family. It is
strongly agreed with LA Times writer Gary Goldstein whom stated, Warm, dimensional and
intuitive, this Carl proves an ideal combo of top dog and underdog as well as a thoroughly
credible kitchen master. The Chef can be highly recommended for many different reasons. One
may say, for the famous A List cast members like Sofia Vergara and Henry Winkler. Sofia Vergara
is one of the main actors of Modern Family. Henry Winkler is also, a known top actor from the
1970 s sitcom Happy Days. Another reason this film maybe highly recommended is for its great
scene locations. The Chef was filmed in many different foods from the fancy restaurants to the
Farmers Market; where the food is displayed in a way that enhance four of your five human
senses. Maybe The Chef can be recommended for the eye catching landscapes locations from the
streets of New Orlando to the beaches of Florida. However, one may say the film is an
overwhelming delightful watch, because it is Jon Favreau writing and directing.

Trump is a Terrible President Trump isn t the best president for the United States because he

choose someone who is selfish and egotistical. Trump being the president isn t helping our
economy improve and if anything, it made it worse. First, since Trump has became the
president, many things have been happening to the U.S. For one, we have a constant safety issue
because more people are not afraid to express how they feel by violently harming others. There
recently has been a mass shooting in Florida where many high school students were killed.
Trump s way to fix this problem was to state that he believe all teachers should be armed with a
weapon in the classroom. Another way that this issue could be fixed is to install bullet proof
windows and doors, so that incase of a shooting, it would be almost impossible for the shooter to

Gender Roles During The Years Men And Women Essay
Gender Roles in Society Over the years men and women have been given gender roles that they
are pressured to follow. According to Amy Blackstone, gender roles are based on the different
expectations that individuals, groups and societies have of individuals based on their sex...
(2003). In other words, gender roles are social norms and expectations, created and accepted by
society, based on a person s gender. There have been different gender roles throughout the
different time eras and in some eras the gender roles have been strongly enforced. Today, many
people believe that gender roles do not really exist in society anymore; however the pressure on
gender roles given by society is present now more than ever, even if it is subtle. Individuals are
still given expectations by society based on their gender. For boys or men, they are expected to
be more masculine, aggressive and strong, while women or girls on the other hand, are expected
to be feminine, calm, friendly and caring (Wood, 1994). These gender roles given by society to
men and women must be removed because they do not allow a person to express their identity.
Gender Roles To understand the effect of gender roles on a person s identity, there must be a
deeper understanding of what gender roles are. The first step in understanding the term gender
roles , is to understand the term gender . There is a universal misconception of the social term
gender because it is confused with the term sex (Blackstone, 2003).

Enhanced oxidative stress and changes in antioxidant capacity, found in both clinical and
experimental diabetes, are thought to be the main cause of chronic diabetic complications, in
particular at a microvascular level (Moussa 2008). Excessively high levels of free radicals cause
damage to vital cellular components such as proteins, membrane lipids, and nucleic acids, and
finally lead to cell death (Maritim, Sanders Watkins 2003). The formation of advanced glycation
end products (AGEs), is another factor to be considered in diabetes type 2 microvascular
nephropathy (Motawi et al., 2013). Interaction of AGEs with their cellular receptors (RAGE)
has an important role in the pathogenesis of diabetic complications via enhanced expression of
adhesion molecules, including vascular cell adhesion molecule 1 (VCAM 1), and intercellular
adhesion molecule 1 (ICAM 1), both markers of vascular injury (Motawi et al., 2013). Motawi et
al. (2013) advanced the hypothesis that tight glycemic control may restore plasma levels of
sRAGE, VCAM 1 and oxidative stress parameters near the normal level in type 2 diabetic
patients, reported as a decoy receptor for AGEs. Motawi et al. (2003) demonstrated that poor
glycemic control decreases plasma sRAGE and increases VCAM 1 levels while good glycemic
control improves these abnormalities which provides benefit to diabetic patients. Many other

Nobility In The Crucible And The Adventures Of Huckleberry...
Nobility is defined as possessing fine personal qualities, high moral principles and ideals. With
nobility also comes a sense of superiority, but this connection between the two words is sometimes
misunderstood. Some believe that nobility is gained by being superior to someone else. However,
true nobilityis obtained by, as stated by Ernest Hemingway, one being superior to his or her old
self. Our class this year has read several books and short stories, but I believe that the two books
that shows the clearest and most powerful depictions of this message are The Crucible and The
Adventures of Huckleberry Finn and the developments of John Proctor and Huck Finn.
John Proctor, one of the main characters in The Crucible is perfect for demonstrating how
superiority to one s old self is the key to being noble. The audience is aware of John Proctor s

The Power Structured Relationships Within A Patriarchal...
In her text, Millet discusses the power structured relationships within a patriarchal society. She
defines the concept of power as a series of oppressive circumstances between power structured
relationships. In this relationship there is a dominant group and subordinate group. Millet states
that the male shall dominate female, elder male shall dominate younger (Millet 25). Women are
oppressed in a patriarchal society, giving men the power to dominate. The theory of patriarchy is
derived from the creation of social norms based on biological differences between males and
females (Millet, 27). Judith Butler would refer to these norms as the ways in which society
believes each gendershould perform. Women are socialized to be loving, affectionate and feminine,
while men are more prone to dominant behavior. This has created cultural expectations that
encourage the notion that women are inferior to men (Millet 31). During child development, family
and society have traditionally encouraged patriarchal structures by reinforcing certain behavior such
as aggression in male or passivity in female. As a result, children develop a core gender identity
based on their upbringing. Children then grow within a culture of sexual hierarchy while
maintaining the roles they have been classified to. As mentioned, Judith Butler would argue that
this phenomenon is called gender performativity. Butler s theory of gender performativity describes
the instability of gender and how it is created

Difference Between Graphic Design And Typography
INTRODUCTION
This is a research paper about Graphic Design and Typography and the comparison of artists Paula
Scher and Neville Brody. Graphic design is the process of visual communication and problem
solving using one or more of typography, photography, and illustration. The field is considered a
subset of visual communication and communication design, but sometimes the term graphic design
is used synonymously. Graphic designers create and combine symbols, images, and text to form
visual representations of ideas and messages. They use typography, visual arts and page layout
techniques to create visual compositions. Common uses of graphic design include corporate
design logos and branding, editorial design magazines, newspapers, and books, wayfinding or
environmental design, advertising, web design, communication design, product packaging, and
signage. Whereas Typography is everywhere we look. It s in the books we read, on the websites

A Foreign Building Essay
Imagine walking into a foreign building where you were welcomed with open arms, warm
greetings, and sincere smiles. We were introduced to a new way of life that started with us
responding to As Salaam Alaikum with Wa Alaikum Salaam along with firm handshakes.
Because we did a little bit of research before making the trip to one of the oldest mosques in
South Florida, we felt a little more prepared and confident in what we came there to accomplish.
This is what happened when our team of four anthropologists took a trip to Masjid Al Ansar.
Once inside, we quickly noticed that we could not understand any of the frames and paintings we
saw because Arabic was prominent in them. There were many symbols in Arabic and pictures of
the Kaaba designed around frames painted in gold. They only things that were in English were the
names of the audio speakers and the projector. Our culture guide quickly mentioned to us that the
females sat on one side of the room and males the other. As the service commenced, we witnessed
the Jummah prayer and tried to take an etic account of what we were seeing as much as possible.

that were previously unknown. This led to predictions that before would not have been possible.
Now, it is possible to use computers to create better models of proteinstructures. Biologist can
now build accurate models even if they have no template. Because of the discovery that the
sequence of amino acids determines the way a protein folds, scientist have been investigating
different ways to figure a protein s structure from its sequence. Every protein family has at least
1,000 different proteins in it. The models could cover about over a million of... Show more content

The human genome contains millions of sequences. These sequences are described as transposable
elements, genetic units that jump around the entire genome. These sequences used to be referred to
as junk DNA until they were recognized that they were influencing the expression of genes.
Scientists have combined phylogenetics (the study of evolutionary relationships between different
species) with genomics (the study of how the genome of an organism conditions its biology). From
comparing genomes of 203 vertebrates, they traced the first origin of KZFPs back to a common
ancestor of tetrapods (four legged animals) and coelacanth (a fish that evolved over 400 million
years ago). This helps learn more about its fundamental importance. KZFPs can transform
transposable elements into fine tuned regulatory platforms that influence the expression of genes.
This takes place in stages of development and human tissues. I think that combining phylogenetics
with genomics could help scientist learn and discover more about evolution and how and why they
ve changed. This relates to what we learn about because it talks about proteins and stages of
development and human tissues. It also talks about DNA and how generic elements change.

Patient Assessment
Assessments of Head, Ear and Throat The nurse who assesses the patient initially usually is the one
who detects signs of more serious underlying pathology (Reynolds, 2004). The health assessment
histories, SOAP notes, and findings of two patients with HEENT problems will be discussed in
detail. This paper will also cover tympanic membranes findings and examination of the thyroid
glands. With competent and diligent nursing assessment knowledge and application, both acute and
chronic HEENT problems can lead to the discovery of underlying conditions crucial to planning and
treatment. Some HEENT problems can also be life threatening requiring prompt nursing and

The TM through the rest of the hearing pathway, sounds become electrical impulses analyzed by
the brain, hence, the sense of hearing (Jarvis, 2012). The assessment and evaluation of the
tympanic membrane is vital in a complete otological screening. The otoscope allows inspection of
the ear canal and TM to detect excessive cerumen buildup, inflammation, or perforation of the TM.
Hearing loss is done through the use of tuning fork performing Rinne and Weber tests and the
audioscope which produces a more accurate and conclusive hearing loss test result (Jarvis, 2012).
There are four essential components of the TM to evaluate. The color, appearance of the light

Malcolm Bryant Case Analysis
The innocence project has exonerated 349 people and of those 349 people, 71% of them have
involved eyewitness misidentification. In the Malcolm Bryant case, eyewitness misidentification
was a huge reason why he was convicted. The witness testified against Bryant during court and was
certain that it was him. David Camm and Malcolm Bryant were convicted based on testimonyand
evidence, which lead to issues in their cases, but they were later exonerated based on advancements
in DNAtesting.
Camm and Bryant both were found guilty from the testimony and evidence that was presented
during court. Charles Boney was at the scene of the murders of the Camm family. It came down to

Camm s attorney knew from the start that DNA evidence would prove that he was innocent.
Although DNA evidence originally linked Boney to the scene of the murders, prosecutors still
said that Camm killed his family alone. For years, Camm s attorneys said that he was innocent
and DNA tests would show someone else committed the crime (Gazette). This evidence shows
that DNA testing was not advanced at the time of Camm s conviction, but this same evidence
was later used to prove that Camm did not kill his family. Charles Boney was found to be linked
to the murders. At Camm s trial, a state police detective testified how DNA evidence found from
the sweat shirt by a private lab and a bloody palm print on Kimberly s car at the scene of the
murder linked Boney to the murder scene in early 2005 (Gazette). This evidence suggests that the
DNA testing they had at the time showed that Boney was linked to the crime scene. Improvements
in DNA testing not only helped David Camm but it also helped Malcolm Bryant.
Advancement in DNA testing helped prove that Malcolm Bryant was innocent. The victim s shirt
that was sent in for DNA testing had a full male DNA match with the partial sample from the nail
clippings. This result was inconsistent with Malcolm Bryant s DNA (Richardson). This evidence
shows that DNA evidence was huge in the exoneration of Bryant. After this DNA test there was no

Analysis Of Ayn Rand s The Fountainhead
Blake Stawar
Ms. Haskins
Honors American Literature
27 October 2017
Objectivism in The Fountainhead Not many authors create philosophies to include in their novels,
but Ayn Rand did. Ayn Rand used her philosophy in the main characters and influenced American
society during the Cold War with her novel The Fountainhead. Through the actions of the
protagonist Howard Roark, Ayn Randdemonstrates her philosophy of objectivism and her belief in
individualism which reflect her opposition towards communism. Ayn Rand was born in St.
Petersburg, Russia in 1905 under the name Alissa Rosenbaum ( Ayn ). Around the time of Rand s
childhood, Communism had taken over in Russia. During the Russian Revolution, Rand and her
family lost many of their ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the bitter civil conflict, millions died; the destruction was extraordinary, and the
reconstruction therefore had to be slow and painful. Famine ravaged the land ( Soviet 2395). It
may have been these post war conditions that fueled Ayn Rand s opposition towards
Communism. The Bolsheviks took it for granted that they were acting in the interest of the
people even if the people did not understand their own interests. The repression of ideas and
opponents started at the very moment of the creation of the regime ( Soviet 2395). The
Bolsheviks suspended all trade once they took over ( Soviet 2396). In the late 1920 s, Joseph Stalin
forced peasants to join collective farms ( Soviet 2396).
The Fountainhead greatly influenced American beliefs during the time in which it was written. The
Fountainhead was published just before the start of the Cold War. The Fountainhead uses a
promotion of individualism and a rejection of collectivism to show Rand s opposition towards
Communism. When people in the United States read the book, it fueled, in part, Americans
opposition towards Communism. Some people believe that Rand s pro capitalist views in her
writing may have helped influence the collapse of the Berlin Wall ( Ayn ).
Rand used her philosophy of objectivism in her writing and in The Fountainhead. Objectivism
stresses the importance of individuality and rejects collectivism ( Objectivism 7). According to this
philosophy, humans have free will and

Rock Around The Clock By Bill Haley And His Comets
The song I chose for the music and service learning project was Rock Around the Clock by Bill
Haley His Comets, since it was one of the top songs during the 1950s. Some elements of the song
is the genre, tempo, mood, dynamic, the structure, and instrumentation. The genre of this piece
is rock and roll and rockabilly. This genre was typical of this time period of the 50s. The tempo
of this piece seems to be fast but steady and its dynamics are a mixture of loud but soft. When I
listen to the song my mood is upbeat and it makes me want to get up and dance. Rock Around the

instruments used were vocals and rhythm guitar, string bass, guitar, tenor

In The Bean Trees by Barbara Kingsolver, protagonist Taylor Greer is not your average teenage
girl from Pittman, Kentucky. Taylor refuses to remain in her hometown forever, which only leads
to teenage pregnancy and motherhood until death. On a mission to escape Pittman s stereotypical
teenage girl image, she buys a 55 Volkswagen and embarks on a journey west. Just when she

Ironically, Taylor ends up as an unplanned single mother. The two end up living in Tucson, Arizona

Her children would have had more open hearts to the world because unlike Turtle, they never
would have had to experience what Turtle did at such a young age. Due to the difference in
Taylor s children s behaviors, her parenting skills would have been divergent as well. In Arizona,
Taylor had to move at a much slower pace with Turtle because of the trepidation she was filled
with from her previous home life. After months of being together, three year old Turtle finally
utters her first word to Taylor Bean, Turtle said. Humbean (Kingsolver 97). This reveals how much
more effort it took Taylor to reach out to her daughter. In Arizona she had a much more abrupt
maturing into a woman and mother than if she had stayed in her hometown. Taylor had to grow up
significantly faster than if she had gone through the process of pregnancy in Pittman. There, Taylor
would be able to become more mentally and physically prepared for being a mother. Before
leaving on her journey west, Taylor had been living with her single mother, Alice Greer. Since
the day Taylor was born, she and Alice both depended on each other for most everything. By
leaving, Taylor was gaining independence for both her and her mother alike. In Arizona Taylor

Joint Commission on Accredidation of Healthcare Organizations
Accreditation is a recognized seal of approval for many institutions in the United States. It is
needed by the hospitals to become providers in the Medicare program. In order to receive payment
from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), hospitals are required to meet a set of
minimum requirements called conditions of participation. There are three organizations that can
accredit hospitals based on the participation requirements the Joint Commission, the American
Osteopathic Association (AOA), or the state certification agencies [1]. More than 80% hospitals in
the country voluntarily use the Joint Commission for accreditation purposes.

As a result, hospitals with overall poor quality standards were able to pass inspections by fixing
the specific measures surveyed. In 2006, the Joint Commission switched the inspection system to
include surprise reviews. Since this change, the average number of deficiencies per hospitals
increased to seven from three. Also, the percentage of hospitals with conditional accreditation has
risen to 2.8 percent from 1 percent. The new process has made hospitals more alert and they are
actively taking steps in order to maintain accreditation [3].
Even though the Joint Commission is an independent institution, it has close ties to the industry is
oversees. In order to remove the impartiality, Medicare has stressed a more collegial approach in
which private groups such as the Joint Commission and some state regulators work together with
the hospitals and other groups that they oversee [4]. Additionally, the Joint Commission has
continued to refine its performance measurement and quality improvement programs. As a result,
initiatives such as ORYX have been started. Hospitals collect data for measurement sets selected
from the nationally standardized core measurement sets, which include AMI, heart failure,
pneumonia, and pregnancy. The National Patient Safety Goal measures are designed to help avoid

threat to the financial stability of the project. It can be seen that a comprehensive financing plan is

The speed and travel time proposed by the California High Speed Rail Authority are not easy to
attain. The international experience proves that it is not possible to achieve these values with
the existing technology and meeting the safety standards. If the California High Speed Rail fails
to attain its specified objectives, it turns to be less attractive. There will be a threat to the
ridership due to increased travel times or delays. It should be noted that the average speed
projected by the California High Speed Rail Authority has not been successfully achieved on any
of the existing systems till date. The terrain of the selected route is not completely flat to allow
constant high speeds. The profile of the rail line demands slowing down of the train at certain
locations which would lower the average travel speed. Additionally, the line also passes through
urban areas where limitations on speed exist. These two factors must be given more consideration

Poe Oval Portrait Essay
1. Why did the mysterious gentleman and his valet break into the abandoned chateau? a) The valet
brings the mysterious gentleman, who is also the narrator, into an abandoned chateau because the
man is injured and he does not want the man to have to sleep outside.
2. What was unusual about the oval portrait? a) The oval portrait was so unusual because it had
been hidden in the dark near the bedpost. The painting is of a young girl who looks like she is about
to become a woman. The painting startled the narrator because it looks so real that he almost
thought the girl was in front of him in real life.

I think he was more in love with his paintings and art in general. I believe he married his wife
because he knew that she was an obedient caring woman and would support him. A man who
truly loved his wife would not put art before his own wife and would definitely not allow her to
die in front of him. This just proves what his true priorities in life are.
6. Can you imagine a similar situation occurring today? Explain why or why not.
a)I feel like this situation is quite common in relationships. A man or woman goes out with
someone just because they know that person is a good person at heart. They believe they love
them, but it is their qualities the love, not the person as a whole and definitely not for the right
reasons. Relationships like this never last, because the person is always choosing other things over
their loved one. Gambling is a perfect example for this scenario. A person may choose gambling
over the person they love, because in fact they love gambling more than the person itself, and
therefore cannot stop gambling and will put nothing above it.
7. In what descriptive terms does Poe describe the environment of the chateau and its turret room?

with tapestries, trophies, and many paintings.

The Importance Of The Mosque In The Muslim Community
Family and community assets is anything which is shared within the community by the families in
that community. A shared asset can be a mosque, community center, library, treatment centers, etc.
which is there for the families within that community. Most neighborhoods have a community
center which families bring their children, to play sports and to participate in activities held within
the community. In the Muslim community, the mosques built within that community. Is built for
the families within that community, to pray and to do their worshipping.
The Masjid (mosque) t welcomes everyone, day or night, summer or winter, requiring no
application form or permission, and it does not turn anyone away be they young or old, male or
female, Muslim or non Muslim, black or white Arab or Non Arab. Entry into the Masjid does not
require any fee, insurance, or any permission. There are no hindrances, no obstacles, nor does the
Masjid differentiate between the laymen and a scholar, nor between a ruler and a subject, nor
between a wealthy and a poor person (Mabdullah 2013) .
Modern mosques have many services in addition to prayer. For the youth, there are courses,
activities for the youth to partake in. Growing up, I attended a nearby mosque every weekend
from 9am 1pm for dugsi ( Islamic studies). My mother took me to the mosque to be closer to the
religion. This is something most Muslim families do, to keep their children away from going

  • 2. Essay On No Exit No Exit by Jean Paul Sartre is a play about three characters in hell. Joseph Garcin, Inez Serrano, and Estelle Rigault committed a sin when they were alive on Earth. Now, they are stuck in hell together in one room. Garcin, Inez, and Estelle don t know each other and meet for the first time in the room. They are suspicious of each other as to why they were placed in the same room together. They are not quick to reveal what sins they have committed on Earth and slowly reveal it one by one. With each of them having different personalities, they clash and become the perfect torturers for each other in hell. Joseph Garcin used to be a journalist and ran a pacifist newspaper. Garcin s death was caused by 12 bullets fired at him. At first, he appeared to be a gentleman who doesn t want to cause trouble to other people around him. Garcin gently says, I wish neither of you any harm, and I ve no concern with you. (pdf, 11) He wanted to respect and be polite to the two other women in the room with him. However, the revelation of his sin tells a different story to him. Garcin mistreated his wife and came home with ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... All of the characters are never able to get what they want in hell and their hell became each other. None of the characters are put through physical pain and only mental pain. Each character picks on each other s weakness, greed, and self esteem. Garcin and Estelle experience bad faith as they need someone to them who they are. Inez is the closest to existentialism as she looks at action over opinion. None of the characters are able to get away from each other and are trapped to deal with each other forever and ... • 3. Advantages And Disadvantages Of Phased Effort Distribution 3.2.1Phased effort distribution Reasonable resources allocation to software phases is a vital factor for the success of software projects‎[52].Effort distribution to phases is the key to a more efficient resource allocation. This approach is proposed to estimate the effort of migrated services. The effort is estimated for different project phases. The service s cost often varies depending on the migration strategy used; this is mainly because each migration strategy has its own cost factors. In this approach, the cost factors of SOA are extracted from previous literatures .These cost factors are distributed among SOA project phases. Each cost factor is given a weight for each migration strategy. These weights of different factors are grouped by project phase. All the weights of all factors are aggregated per migration strategy. The relative effort ratio for each phase is calculated by dividing the total weights of the phase factors to the total weight of the migration strategy The whole process is summarized in Figure 12. Another research ‎[32] has evaluated migration strategies from technical value and both cost and business value. For the purpose of our research, only business value will be considered. • 4. The Significance of Calphurnia s Insignificance in Julius... Behind every man, there is a woman. As seen throughout history, society has dumped women into a lower rank. Women have been seen as much less significant and less important as pertaining to men. This idea of society s own patriarchal illustration can be seen in William Shakespeare s The Tragedy of Julius Caesar, in which Julius Caesar s wife, Calphurnia, is left widely unnoticed and highly insignificant although she holds an image that is really quite important. In The Tragedy of Julius Caesar, Julius Caesar is seen as what the image history has portrayed him as, a fine general of Rome s vast military but also a general of an ill mindand ignorance that is upon him. This ill mind and ignorance is derived from his power and the abuse that came with the power. His abuse of power is widely seen throughout The Tragedy of Julius Caesar as he seizes his power from the Rome senate and everyone and everything. This abuse is also summarized in Brutus s response of Caesar s power as he describes Caesar as a serpent egg and provides a forewarning of the dangers of Caesar s power as it becomes more and more prevalent throughout the first half of the story before his death. As it is shown that the assumptions pertaining to Caesar are true; it is also developed that Caesar begins to overlook his surroundings, of which includes his beloved wife, Calphurnia. As the story progresses, we find that Calphurnia s nature can be described as shy, reclusive, and very quiet in her ways. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 6. Summary Of Nathaniel Hawthorne s The Blithedale Romance America s inception stemmed from the desire to create a society which differed from those before it. By taking the best pieces of previous civilizations, the founding fathers strived to create a perfectly formed society based on equality, a balance of power, and the independence of man to pursue their own dreams. Literature of this period and more specifically the 19th century often deals with experimentations on this very basis for society. Does one favor the individual over the community or ignore the personal desires of the individual in favor of a collective mindset? Experimenting with the makings of a utopia, defined by Merriam Webster as, a place of ideal perfection especially in laws, government, and social conditions creates a serious question on the plausibility of a perfect society. Dealing with this very quandary first hand, Nathaniel Hawthornes The Blithedale Romance is an experimentation on forming a perfect utopia. Within the novel, the desires of the individual are squandered in favor of the collective. In reading Hawthorne, one gets the sense that the world is just out of reach for him. Attaching a mysticism to everything detaches the characters from any sense of reality, meaning that any experiment they set out on should be met with suspicion. Whereas in Henry David Thoreaus Walden, Thoreau places the individual on a higher plane than the community. Going into the woods, Thoreau detaches himself from society in a far different manner than Hawthorne, with ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 8. Australia Belonging The film Australia directed by Baz Luhrmann, features many different cultures, one of which is the Aboriginal culture. Luhrmann covers many different aspects of the Aboriginal culture such as the portrayals of the stolen generations, half castes and the assimilation policy. Luhrmann addresses the stolen generations aspect of the Aboriginal culture through the character Nullah. There is one scene where Fletcher has told the authorities that there is a half caste at Faraway Downs. Nullah hides in the water tank with his mother who ends up drowning in the water tank which they thinks is empty. There was not one shot throughout the film that showed where the Aboriginal pastoral workers lived and what the state of their living was like. Luhrmann made it look like the workers would live at their bosses ranch instead of their shelters made of bark and branches which had no clean water, no sanitation and no electricity. Luhrmann portrays all of the Aborigines as workers who get given quality rations and get paid, but in fact, the Aborigines would never get paid. The real struggle between landowners and workers was briefly shown when Luhrmann shows the audience that they have a limited number of workers when they go to move the cattle. They only had a small number of trained Aborigines to help move the cattle when they actually needed more to complete the move. They end up training up the female Aborigines along with Lady Sarah and Nullah to help move the cattle which in that time would have been a breakthrough and made the Aborigines feel more equal and appreciated. During the movement of the cattle, the cattle get a fright and charge towards the edge of the cliff. They do everything they can to stop the cattle from going off the edge. This powerful scene is a metaphor Luhrmann wanted to portray. The cattle at the edge of the cliff are a metaphor for the long history of massacres of indigenous people, often at the edge of ... • 9. Characters In William Shakespeare s Hamlet As A Tragic Hero In the play Hamlet , Shakespeare dramatises the revenge found within Prince Hamlet when he is greeted upon by his father s ghost who calls for him to avenge his death. Throughout the play you come to find that Hamlet s uncle is the one that killed his father, in order to steal the fair maiden and the throne . With these occurrences happening in Hamlets life he is known as a tragic hero. It takes three things to be considered a Tragic Hero: Being from Noble Blood, has a tragic flaw, and experiences a downfall. Hamlet begins with noble intentions whenever he introduced to a new conflict, throughout the play his never ending peril and conflicts reign over him until his death. Sadly, Hamlet died before he could see any of the outcomes from his actions. In Shakespeare s Hamlet the leading character, Hamlet faces three turning points that caused him to ultimately be named a Tragic hero: the death of his father, the impeccable use of his words, and his ability to fake his madness to get a confession from his uncle, which ultimately ended with his demise. In Act 1 Scene 5, Hamlet s father appears once again, but this time had the intent to talk to Hamlet. With a bitter tongue and a sincere warning, Hamlet s father exhorted, Tis given out that, sleeping in my orchard. A serpent stung me; so the whole ear of Denmark. Is by a forged process of my death. • 10. Walnut Street Jail Thesis Walnut Street Jail The Walnut Street Jail was first built as a city jail in 1773 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The jail was named after the streets it was located in which were sixth and Walnut streets. The Jail then expanded in 1790 in which a penitentiary house was added. Walnut Street Jail is considered the United States first penitentiary house because no other jail was single celled. During that time, jails that existed did not believe in the idea that inmate can change. The jail was built in Pennsylvania due to overcrowding in another jail called High Street Jail. We have different styles of media, different ways to view media, and so many different options when it comes to creating media. A recent technology that has started to gain traction is 360 degree photography. This new technology allows people to view more than traditional 2 D perspective. With this new way of being able to capture a scene comes many affordances and constraints. The content creator has more options for what the viewer can see, but at the same time it may not be what they want the viewer to see. In most forms of media today there is a main point that the viewer is observing. 2 D perspective video creators are able to change perspectives of how the viewer sees the media, but with 360 degrees the viewer may not see it in the same way the original creator intended. The viewer may even miss main points entirely because they were looking around and the main point of a video was behind them. On top of this the viewer may not even be able to watch the video. Many people report nausea when watching videos in 360 degrees. If there is not a way to ensure people do not feel sick while watching the videos, that means that this media will be limited by the number of people who are able to tolerate it. Being able to create the quality of content that is currently available on 2 D platforms may be difficult could also be an issue. The Many Themes in Sherwood Anderson s Winesburg, Ohio Essay The Many Themes in Winesburg, Ohio Winesburg, Ohio is a compilation of short tales written by Sherwood Anderson and published as a whole in 1919. The short tales formulate the common themes for the novel as follows: isolation and loneliness, discovery, inhibition, and cultural failure. In order to examine these themes, Anderson s history must be understood and examined to provide illumination upon why Anderson came to such beliefs about human life. Sherwood Anderson was born on September 13, 1876, in Camden, Ohio. In 1884, Anderson and his family moved to the small town of Clyde, Ohio. Clyde, Ohio, is the model for the town of Winesburg. At the end of the story Adventure, Anderson writes began trying to force herself to face bravely the fact that many people must live and die alone, even in Winesburg (Anderson, Sherwood). The themes of loneliness and isolation are expressed by describing the characters as grotesques. The grotesques are the people who have become obsessed with an idea or mannerism, such that, they have lost contact with their fellow Man. Anderson sets the course for the theme of isolation in the first three chapters, excluding The Book of the Grotesque. The first chapter is called Hands and involves the sad story of Wing Biddlebaum. Because Biddlebaum is accused of having molested students that he taught, his hands embody the shame that he carries. Fearing that the presence of his hands will be misinterpreted, Biddlebaum hides his expressive hands. By creating the symbol of hands in this chapter, Anderson creates an effective symbol to express the theme of isolation in the novel. Because a person s physical hands are used to communicate feeling, Hands is a tale about one of the sources of isolation, the inability to communicate feeling. Paper Pills is the second chapter of the novel and deals with another cause of isolation, the inability to communicate thought. For boys or men, they are expected to be more masculine, aggressive and strong, while women or girls on the other hand, are expected to be feminine, calm, friendly and caring (Wood, 1994). These gender roles given by society to men and women must be removed because they do not allow a person to express their identity. Gender Roles To understand the effect of gender roles on a person s identity, there must be a deeper understanding of what gender roles are. The first step in understanding the term gender roles , is to understand the term gender . There is a universal misconception of the social term gender because it is confused with the term sex (Blackstone, 2003). ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 34. Investigating The Aetiology And Pathophysiology Of Renal... There have been a number of manuscripts reporting on the association of complications in type 2 diabetes with high glucose blood levels, high levels of C Peptide, high advanced glycation end products (AGEs) and vascular cell adhesion molecule 1 (VCAM 1) and oxidative stress. In order to further investigate the aetiology and pathophysiology of renal microvascular complications in type 2 diabetes, papers were reviewed through 2000 using the NIH PubMed Literature Search System. Inclusion criteria were that manuscripts 1) be primary peer review research article; 2) concisely explained, or investigated, the pathophysiology of renal microvascular complications in type 2 diabetes; 3) be published in English. Enhanced oxidative stress and changes in antioxidant capacity, found in both clinical and experimental diabetes, are thought to be the main cause of chronic diabetic complications, in particular at a microvascular level (Moussa 2008). Excessively high levels of free radicals cause damage to vital cellular components such as proteins, membrane lipids, and nucleic acids, and finally lead to cell death (Maritim, Sanders Watkins 2003). The formation of advanced glycation end products (AGEs), is another factor to be considered in diabetes type 2 microvascular nephropathy (Motawi et al., 2013). Interaction of AGEs with their cellular receptors (RAGE) has an important role in the pathogenesis of diabetic complications via enhanced expression of adhesion molecules, including vascular cell adhesion molecule 1 (VCAM 1), and intercellular adhesion molecule 1 (ICAM 1), both markers of vascular injury (Motawi et al., 2013). Motawi et al. (2013) advanced the hypothesis that tight glycemic control may restore plasma levels of sRAGE, VCAM 1 and oxidative stress parameters near the normal level in type 2 diabetic patients, reported as a decoy receptor for AGEs. Motawi et al. (2003) demonstrated that poor glycemic control decreases plasma sRAGE and increases VCAM 1 levels while good glycemic control improves these abnormalities which provides benefit to diabetic patients. • 35. Nobility In The Crucible And The Adventures Of Huckleberry... Nobility is defined as possessing fine personal qualities, high moral principles and ideals. With nobility also comes a sense of superiority, but this connection between the two words is sometimes misunderstood. Some believe that nobility is gained by being superior to someone else. However, true nobilityis obtained by, as stated by Ernest Hemingway, one being superior to his or her old self. Our class this year has read several books and short stories, but I believe that the two books that shows the clearest and most powerful depictions of this message are The Crucible and The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn and the developments of John Proctor and Huck Finn. John Proctor, one of the main characters in The Crucible is perfect for demonstrating how superiority to one s old self is the key to being noble. The audience is aware of John Proctor s cheating situation in the beginning of the play which he tries to fix while also attempting to prove that those accused of witchcraft are innocent. • 36. The Power Structured Relationships Within A Patriarchal... In her text, Millet discusses the power structured relationships within a patriarchal society. She defines the concept of power as a series of oppressive circumstances between power structured relationships. In this relationship there is a dominant group and subordinate group. Millet states that the male shall dominate female, elder male shall dominate younger (Millet 25). Women are oppressed in a patriarchal society, giving men the power to dominate. The theory of patriarchy is derived from the creation of social norms based on biological differences between males and females (Millet, 27). Judith Butler would refer to these norms as the ways in which society believes each gendershould perform. Women are socialized to be loving, affectionate and feminine, while men are more prone to dominant behavior. This has created cultural expectations that encourage the notion that women are inferior to men (Millet 31). During child development, family and society have traditionally encouraged patriarchal structures by reinforcing certain behavior such as aggression in male or passivity in female. As a result, children develop a core gender identity based on their upbringing. Children then grow within a culture of sexual hierarchy while maintaining the roles they have been classified to. As mentioned, Judith Butler would argue that this phenomenon is called gender performativity. Butler s theory of gender performativity describes the instability of gender and how it is created ... • 37. Difference Between Graphic Design And Typography INTRODUCTION This is a research paper about Graphic Design and Typography and the comparison of artists Paula Scher and Neville Brody. Graphic design is the process of visual communication and problem solving using one or more of typography, photography, and illustration. The field is considered a subset of visual communication and communication design, but sometimes the term graphic design is used synonymously. Graphic designers create and combine symbols, images, and text to form visual representations of ideas and messages. They use typography, visual arts and page layout techniques to create visual compositions. Common uses of graphic design include corporate design logos and branding, editorial design magazines, newspapers, and books, wayfinding or environmental design, advertising, web design, communication design, product packaging, and signage. Biologist can now build accurate models even if they have no template. The human genome contains millions of sequences. These sequences are described as transposable elements, genetic units that jump around the entire genome. These sequences used to be referred to as junk DNA until they were recognized that they were influencing the expression of genes. Scientists have combined phylogenetics (the study of evolutionary relationships between different species) with genomics (the study of how the genome of an organism conditions its biology). From comparing genomes of 203 vertebrates, they traced the first origin of KZFPs back to a common ancestor of tetrapods (four legged animals) and coelacanth (a fish that evolved over 400 million years ago). This helps learn more about its fundamental importance. KZFPs can transform transposable elements into fine tuned regulatory platforms that influence the expression of genes. This takes place in stages of development and human tissues. This evidence shows that DNA testing was not advanced at the time of Camm s conviction, but this same evidence was later used to prove that Camm did not kill his family. Charles Boney was found to be linked to the murders. At Camm s trial, a state police detective testified how DNA evidence found from the sweat shirt by a private lab and a bloody palm print on Kimberly s car at the scene of the murder linked Boney to the murder scene in early 2005 (Gazette). I think he was more in love with his paintings and art in general. I believe he married his wife because he knew that she was an obedient caring woman and would support him. A man who truly loved his wife would not put art before his own wife and would definitely not allow her to die in front of him. This just proves what his true priorities in life are. 6. Relationships like this never last, because the person is always choosing other things over their loved one. Gambling is a perfect example for this scenario. A person may choose gambling over the person they love, because in fact they love gambling more than the person itself, and therefore cannot stop gambling and will put nothing above it. 7.
