The Great Depression Of America
America has been around for many years and during those years people of America have experienced
horrible times and fantastic times. There were the world wars, and there were the roaring twenties
when America was the fastest growing. After the roaring twenties the American economy took a turn
for the worse. After such a prosperous decade, when America went into the depression people were
not ready for such a drastic change. Many people didn t understand how it occurred, but now we have
a better understanding of what happened. Imagine coming off of the highest times in life; Broadway
shows every night, everyone dressed up in suits and dresses, everything going great and within a day
all of that changes for the worst. One October day the stock market crashed which sent the American
economy into turmoil. In fact, it was one of the major causes that led to the Great Depression. Two
months after the original crash in October, stockholders had lost more than $40 billion dollars. Even
though the stock market began to regain some of its losses, by the end of 1930, it just was not enough
and America truly entered what is called the Great Depression (Kelly. M). After the crash the
American economy was trying to climb back up to what it had once been, but it couldn t because of
the hardships it had endured. People often put all the blame on the president that was in office when
the great depression occurred. President Hoover has become somewhat notorious for trying too hard to
stop

The Process Of The Semi Structured Interview
The process of the semi structured interview was to find participants willing to be interviewed about
cheating. Once I found my participants I recorded our conversations whilst asking them questions
from my already prepared list of questions. I followed the list as I saw fit, mostly following the
questions, but breaking away a little depending on how the conversation flowed and always going
back to my original questions. The domain that was studied were college aged students, ages 18 25,
who were primarily UConn students. College students are seen as a major demographic for cheating,
so by conducting these interviews we are able to see what college students really think about cheating
and whether or not they are viewed correctly in society. In this study there were a total of 27
participants. 15 of the participants were female and 12 were male. The ages ranged from 19 25.
My process of finding themes in the data was to start by reading each transcript fully until I started to
see where people talked the mosts and brought up the most interesting points. Then I would read more
transcripts focusing on those questions. From there I found multiple themes that occurred in many of
the transcripts, then I narrowed them down to the four major themes that I wanted to discuss in my
paper. For first theme is how widespread cheating is. Most people have had experience with cheating.
Even if they never cheated or been cheated on, they know people who have cheated or been cheated
on.

Urban Sustainability And Its Impact On The Environment
Introduction Urban sustainability is a very important topic that needs to be addressed and focused on
so that cities and communities all over the world can change and reduce their harmful impact on the
environment. In order to do so, communities must develop sustainably by focusing on how to manage
resources in a way that guarantees welfare and promotes equity of current and future generations
(Elmqvist, 2013). The impact of urbanization is only going to increase, so cities around the world need
to find the means to do it in the most environmentally friendly and sustainable ways possible (Allen,
2009). Cities are a focus for sustainability because they are a hub of human activity and development,
production, and consumption of goods (Elmqvist, 2013). Citizens and their governments need to
embrace sustainability so they can secure the means of survival, improve the quality of the
community, protect the environment, maintain healthy citizens, and to have pride in the legacy left for
future generations (Roseland, 2012, p.3). A big issue for urban areas in developed countries is that
they have become less reliant on their surrounding areas for sustenance and are increasingly importing
consumer goods, food, energy, water, and building material from distant sources (Allen, 2009). Waste
is also being exported from urban areas to distant regions (Allen, 2009). Cities and communities
should try to be more sustainable and more self reliant by using the surrounding areas to produce

HYPOTHESES
A hypothesis is a statement of prediction. A proposition is a statement about certain concepts that can
be judged true or false. When a proposition begins to be tested, it is known as a hypothesis. (Cooper
amp; Schindler, 2011). A hypotheses act as a tentative and conjectural nature between two or more
variables within a research. There are many types of hypotheses. Descriptive hypotheses are one of the
most common hypotheses. The existence, the size, the form, or the distribution of some variable is
stated in descriptive hypotheses (Cooper amp; Schindler, 2011). There are many important functions
of the hypotheses. For starters, it acts as a path for the study. It also differentiates the facts relevant and
those that are not. There are three qualifications that make hypotheses

Importance And Importance Of Management Principles
1. Introduction
The purpose of this section is to discuss the importance of management principles, and the impact on
each organisation.
Principles of management are generally termed as the act of planning, organising, leading and
controlling the operations of the basic element of people, materials, machines, methods, money and
markets, providing direction and coordination, and giving leadership to human efforts, so as to achieve
the sought objectives.
Management Principles are essential, underlying concept and factors that form the foundations of a

Living in today s age it s easy to forget that technology didn t always mean mobile phones,

Order vs. Freedom in Political Systems
Order vs. Freedom in Political Systems Order and freedom are both necessary and beneficial towards
the citizens and society with the aim to promote harmony, yet they both contradict each other. This
contradiction has existed throughout many years and it is still hard to decide which one is ideal for the
society. This essay will discuss and analyze if order or freedom is more important for political
systems. Many believe that order should be applied by the government; though it should be allowed to
a certain limit and should not interfere in a citizen s personal life. However others believe that full
freedom should be given to individuals and that nothing should be enforced as it brings along many
differences between citizens. This ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Furthermore, it is also been questioned that how can educated men criticize and undervalue those who
have been a victim of poverty or harsh upbringing which has affected their education when it is truly
not their fault. Furthermore critics have argued on how it can be determined that kings and
philosophers are not ruling in their self interest and in which way their power should be tested.
Furthermore, another aspect which has been greatly supported and criticized by many great
philosophers is freedom. Freedom is where there is no power or control over the citizen s decisions.
Every citizen is entitled to free speech and their right to interfere in political decision making.
Additionally, the Athenian democracy ideology supports the freedom theory. The main aim of this
democratic thinking was to give the power to the majority rather than the minority as this would take
away the inequalities and corruption within society. Therefore the Athenian democracy was ruled by
people hence it believes in self governing in which the dedication of citizens in participating and
contributing in political decision making is extremely fundamental. The Athenian democracy also has
strong views in promoting equality, it believes that every citizen should be treated with equality before
the law and should be entitled to vote freely. However, there are many advantages and disadvantages
regarding this ideology. The main advantages of this democratic

Homelessness in the elderly population is not an issue that will be resolved overnight. Still, educating
the elderly population regarding the dangers of homelessness and assisting in any way that we can to
keep our elderly citizens off the street will be sufficient in decreasing statistics of those on the streets

The Importance Of Conflict In Group Counseling
n references to Jaclyn s post, I concur with her based on her assertion that Conflict in group
counseling settings is almost always inevitable. However, it is important to take note of the
proficiency and the aptitudes of the counselor involved in the cause both at personal and professional
levels. Despite the diverse disparities and the extent of antagonism between or among the conflicting
parties, it is very important for the counselor never to take sides, but rather give both/all parties neutral
treatment or attention; this will help bringing the conflicting parties at par as far as emotions are
concerned thus, ready for the counselor s intercession, and subsequently discourse and mutual
consensus (Jacobs, et al. 2016 ). Based on an encounter I once had as a conflict mediator between
couples, who also happened to be my relatives, I realized that conflicting persons when undergoing
counseling, more often that not, harbor and exhibit wide ranging emotional and even physical
behaviors, this is to expose the opponents course of action(s) while veiling theirs. They want to show
that they are the victims of the situation, and therefore they should be granted justice, or ruling should
be done to their favor. This process, that is, conflict resolution/counseling within a group setting, calls
for utmost sobriety and vigilance by the counselor so that he/she is not carried away by the different
and confusing behaviors and sentiments of the conflicting parties.

Compare Beowulf And Forrest Gump
Nowadays many people believe that Beowulf and Forrest Gump are similar because they both
considered as heroes of the time in which they lived. First of all, Beowulf considered as a hero
because he is capable of sacrificing himself and courage in the name of justice. He is brave, and at the
same time, a decent hero. There is no reason to doubt his merits. Forrest Gump is also considered as a
hero because he thinks about faith, love, honesty, patriotism. He is a kind person who remained
faithful to his family, friends, and his country. He is a man who always carries God in his soul, and
lives according to the laws of Christian love to God and to the nearest ones. Both Beowulf and Forrest
Gump do things that other people consider impossible. Beowulf and Forrest Gump can be compared
as heroes representing their time period and cultures. Beowulf is a medieval heroic epic. The poem
originated on the basis of ancient traditions related to pagan times. The poem represent an early
example of precisely moral heroism, but not the one that is caused by the desire for fame and power.
The main character of the poem, Beowulf, is capable of sacrificing himself and courage in the name of
justice. He is a true hero by honoring his country and exerting his power and strength to protect others.
His courage is shown by not hesitating to risk his own life to pursue the Dane s enemies. By being self
assured, Beowulf is able to successfully defeat the fiends, Grendel and his infamous mother. At the
time Beowulf is planning to pursue the vindictive dragon, the epic poem states, I ve never known fear,
as a youth I fought in endless battles. I am old now, but I will fight again, seek fame still, If the dragon
hiding in his tower dares to face me. (ll. 2511 2515). He feels no fear, is confident in fighting the
dragon alone, and has no qualms in risking his life to save others. He declares his bravery by saying,
When he comes to me I mean to stand, not run from his shooting flames, stand till fate decides which
of us wins... No one else could do what I mean to, here, no man but me could hope to defeat this
monster. (ll. 2525 2534) In his actions, Beowulf s bravery is clearly shown throughout the poem. As
king, Beowulf is the

The Impact Of Divorce On The Family
The words from the Bible, therefore, what God has joined together, let no man separate have been
habitually used during weddings throughout history. Stepping into the 21st century, those words have
not been faithfully lived up to, evident through the numerous counts of divorces in society. Divorce
can be defined as the legal dissolution of a marriage by a court order and in this generation, is seen as
the norm. Apart from race, other major predictors of divorce include age at marriage, education,
premarital births and religion. (Bartolic, Martin, White, 2013). Divorce often tends to be thought of in
a monolithic way, as if everyone who gets a divorce goes through the same process. The impact of
divorce on the well being of children have been notoriously viewed with a negative lens for many
years due to possible risk factors that may affect children and their upbringing as they navigate
through life as their parents separate. However, families have the ability to strengthen and bounce
back even stronger with more knowledge through these experiences. This paper thoroughly discusses
the impacts of divorce and its effects on family structure and the ways in which families can
collectively work together to overcome crises and be resilient. This includes the many protective
factors that help families overcome their challenges and adversities such as positive social
interactions, personal protective factors, and belief systems in which all of these aspects encompass

Brave New World Literary Devices
In the book, Brave New World, the author, Aldous Huxley, creates and alternated world in the 1930 s
to show us how political and society were during that year. There was a lot of cruel, violence,
segregations compare to the world in BNW. He also uses many literary devices to tell use what his
society looks like during the 1930 s. During this time the WWii was going on and this was a big deal
to the world because there was a lot of dramas and other dangerous things going on. Some of those
devices are simile, details, metaphor...
One major event was people being considerate about others instead on themselves. One of the literary
devices that Aldous Huxley uses is metaphor to give us a description of what is happening to Lenina
and how she acts, also help her remind her who the real Lenina is. Lenina liked the drums. Shutting
her eyes she abandoned herself to their soft repeated thunder, allowed it to invade her consciousness
more and more completely, till at last there was nothing left in the world but that one deep pulse of
sound. It reminded her reassuringly of the synthetic noises made at Solidarity Services and Ford s Day
celebrations. Orgy porgy, she whispered to herself.
These drums beat out just the same rhythms (107 8). Lenina is thinking deep about herself and what
she is really like. She also think about her inner self and listening to the repeated beats over and over it
reminds her of the Solidarity Services. Aldous Huxley is comparing this to today s

Organizational Structure And Leadership Style Of Greater...
Organizational Analysis: Greater Baltimore Medical Center
The adaptability of healthcare industries in an evolving world of change requires dynamics to
identifying weakness and distinction. Often times, these organizational modifications mirror changes
in the society. They are inspired by collective experiences, perceptions, norms, values, economics and
political forces at a given particular period (Thomas, 2014). The purpose of this paper is to explore the
organizational structure and leadership style of Greater Baltimore Medical Center (GBMC), identify
its culture, mission, values and goals. The complex adaptive system, level of greatness and readiness
for change will also be addressed.
Complex Adaptive System
Currently, the complexity of the adaptive system of the healthcare organizational structure remains
convoluted due to the opposition to change, the fear of the unknown and the acceptance of
unpredictability. According to Plesk Greenhalgh (2001), the complex adaptive system (CAS) in the
21st century healthcare organization comprises of a group of individual representatives with the
autonomy to operate in a manner that is not entirely foreseeable thereby hindering the outcome of
other agents. Due to multiple disciplines operating collectively to achieving the desired outcome, work
environment could be inhabitable for some while adapting to change. One of the challenges of the
transformation of the CAS is the perception of seeing the whole as the sum of its parts,

The future dystopian society was controlled by Skynet and robots and humans had to go into hiding

The Glass Ceiling And Gender Gap Between Men And Women
All the leading and developing economies throughout the world are in favor of empowering the
women in business. Leading organizations like IBM, Johnson Johnson, and Ernst Young are doing
exceptionally well to empower the women in business. Several studies have already confirmed that the
organizations that are promoting women are able to outperform their competitors on every measure of
profitability and growth (Hoobler et al. 2016; Cook Glass, 2014). However, the overall scenario is not
encouraging, and the women are still widely struggling to represent themselves in corporate
leadership. Less than 5% of the 1,000 major U.S. organizations have female CEOs (Forbes.com,
2016). Moreover, the glass ceiling (a barrier that restricts women from moving up in the corporate
hierarchy to the management and executive roles) and gender diversity widely exist throughout the
world.
The key purpose of the article is to identify the major reasons behind the persistent wage and gender
gap between men and women in senior leadership positions. In addition, the article also explores the
possible remedies to overcome the identified barriers to women barriers to their advancement to
corporate hierarchy. For the purpose, the article investigates the literature on the workplace gender
behavioral differences, analyses the empirical findings of the studies related to the relationship
between gender diversity in senior management and organizational performance, and reviews the

A Very Old Man With Enormous Wings Of Desire
Wim Wenders (the director of Wings of Desire) does not show the angels as a normally angel would

s in Wings of Desire is to see. They move silently through the city of Berlin; watching and listening to
the actions taking place around them. The angels are there to show you are not alone. This film shows
what it is like to see what is taking place around you, but not being able to engage in. This depiction
would differ from an orthodox understanding of angels because the angels in the film do not engage

Effects Of Technology On Children And Young Adults
It is no secret that, in today s society, everyone and everything is controlled electronically. It is also no
secret that kids and young adults are almost addicted to iPhones, iPads, computer games, and
television shows at a much younger age. Over the past 10 years, electronics have been more available
and more popular for the younger generation. Kids start using these electronics, such as an iPad, at the
age of only 3 years old. Technology intrudes every single aspect of our lives day in and day out. We
are constantly surrounded by it; phones, computers, the internet, television, have all been factors
contributing to make our lives a bit more convenient. Is that really the case though? When it comes to
children and young adults, can technology actually be harmful in ways that are not obvious to a parent
or an adult? People constantly ask, if it is even a possibility to be addicted to technology and social
media? The answer is yes. In today s world, there are dozens and dozens of people that are addicted
and obsessed with technology, the internet and/or social media. The dependency of an addiction is
usually explained as using something too much, or more often than you intend to, craving a certain
thing, spending a larger amount of time using it, and letting it overcome your social life with your
family and friends. Children and young adults are constantly browsing the web, playing video games,
text messaging with friends you name it, when it comes to

The Pros And Cons Of Brown V Board Of Education
The Brown V Board of Education case overturned provisions of the Plessy v Ferguson decision of
1896 which allowed separate but equal in all public areas including public schools. This case began a
spark in the American Civil Rights Movement by demanding public facilities to allow African
Americans the same privileges as whites. This case ended tolerance of racial segregation, however, the
decision did not succeed in fully desegregating public education, but it definitely started a revolution.
In addition to separate but equal, most facilities ignored the requirement, including most school
districts which neglected their all black schools. In the early 1950s, NAACP lawyers brought class
action lawsuits on behalf of black school students in multiple states including Virginia, Delaware,
Kansas and South Carolina, seeking court orders to demand school districts to let black students attend
white public schools. One of these class actions, Brown V Board of Education was filed against the
Topeka Kansas school board by a man by the name of Oliver Brown, a parent of one of the students
that was denied access to Topeka s white schools. Oliver Brown claimed that Topeka s racial
segregation violated the constitution s Equal Protection Clause which says no state shall make or
enforce any law which shall deny to any person within its jurisdiction the equal protection of the laws
, this amendment did not include prohibiting integration. The federal district court dismissed his claim
and ruled that segregation in public schools were substantially equal enough . The court negotiated
and in the end decided that even if the facilities were equal between white and black schools, racial
segregation in schools is inherently unequal , meaning it had been unconstitutional. The court later
demanded the states to integrate their schools immediately. Brown v. Board of Education case had a
major impact on not only the Civil Rights Movement but society as a whole. As we all know,
segregation between black and whites has gone on forever. Generations continued to teach their
children and explain to them that it was normal, up until these landmark cases began did it become
known that it isn t right to treat others differently based on

Off Base Living Vs Military Life Essay
Military Life: On base Versus Off base Living
Sacrificing their lives serving the United States of America, military personnel at least deserve a
worthy home. It is common for military families to move every few years and each time comes with a
decision of living in a civilian home of their choice or an assigned family sized home on the military
base to which they are assigned. Both options have their pros and cons: for instance, their differences
in privacy, cost effectiveness, and security are all major factors in which home location is the better
option.
A lack of privacy can be a significant issue for many who are raised modestly, but others may not
think it is a big deal. On base, it is common to live in tight nit communities with co workers who can
literally hear their neighbor s toilet flush; that s embarrassing! It may be convenient to have an on base
commissary, hospital, school, and shopping mall; however, usually everyone living there takes
advantage of these amenities and gets to know each other very well, so the latest gossip spreads like
wildfire. Unlike on base, there are ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It is extremely common for military personnel to inevitably be re stationed every few years, so moving
and saving money would be a smart choice. Renting or buying homes off base grants more freedom
and creativity in the home, like painting pretty murals and adding construction projects; but investing
all that money into something that will be left behind appears pointless. As well as the home
investment costs, the commute for living off base is also pricey to get to work and everywhere else
depending on the distance. The traffic hasn t even been taken in to account and everyone knows how
irritating it is. Fortunately, the military provides a housing allowance for those who choose to live off
base, and pays for the house and utilities for those who choose to live

Pros And Cons Of Propaganda
Propaganda is not a recent idea or concept however since the creation of film propaganda has found its
way into them, especially documentary s. Documentary filmmaking is a platform and mode of
filmmaking associated with truth and actuality to present an overview of a topic or issue (Aufderheide,
2007). Audiences expect this when watching documentary films because generally the topic of a
documentary film is based on a real issue and/or event without the use with actors, sets and special
effects (with the exception of docudramas) (Nichols, 2010). Although they may be based on a real
world issue/event the filmmaker(s) behind the documentaries have an agenda and are trying to push
certain ideologies or points of view on the audience. However, the assumption is made that they are
doing this through fact and truth (Bizz). Propaganda on the other hand does not rely on truth or fact as
it is an idea of dishonestly. Propaganda never tries to persuade or inform instead it attempts to deceive
an audience by conveying/creating representations and ideas in a text that can only have one dominant
reading (Aufderheide, 2007). Propaganda filmmaking is usually created by governments and political
figures to impose hateful/nationalistic viewpoints and ideologies on the general populous
(Aufderheide, 2007). Triumph of the Will (Riefenstahl, 1935) and Prelude to War (Capra, 1943)
demonstrate that documentaries have the ability to create a false representation of history due to the

Reasons To Stop Animal Testing In The United States
In the United States over 100 million animals are use for animal testing they treat them in a cruel way.
However, these creatures suffer many damages and the problem is that they cannot defend themselves
and if we still consuming products that includes animal testing this plague is never going to end. Some
of the main reasons why we should stop buying products that they use animals for testing are because
of the physical pain they cause to the animal, animals rights are violated when they use them for
research and, the mental damage you cause to the animal if they survive.
In the first place, the physical pain you cause to the animal goes above than a hundred. Most of these
animals die because of the several damages they suffered when they are tested. According to The
International Association for the Study of Painan pain is an unpleasant sensory and emotional
experience associated with actual or potential tissue damage, or described in terms of such damage
that means that every time you feel something bothering your body and it gives you an unpleasant
time is caused by pain. In other words, these poor animals suffer pain every time they are going to be

Court Decides Cases
Factors the Court Considers When Choosing Cases There are pivotal reasons for the Supreme Court to
give merit to cases to be heard on the court floor. Not all parties are satisfied with the decision made
by lower courts, for that reason the mentioned party must petition the U.S. Supreme Court to hear
their case. With the overwhelming number of more than 10,000 petitions for certiorari every year
submitted to the Supreme Court, only less than 80 accepted for hearing, the rest of cases discarded in

Treadwell s Relationship With Animals In Literature
Human beings have always looked for similarities between themselves and other people as to gain
common ground. However people also attempt to make connections between themselves and the more
primal parts of nature. Animals have been along side people for centuries and them being by our side
we ve assigned them certain traits and meanings as an attempt to connect with them on a deeper level.
The Egyptians treated felines as almost gods in their culture because, after domestication, they killed
vermin which helped crops grow. That praise evolved into worship, and gave felines new meaning
among human beings. In many ways humans change animals to suit their purposes in literature and as
to allow us to more finely tune our imagination to the lives of animals. Human beings don t have any
idea what it s like anymore to be one with their natural surroundings which is why we focus so
intently on relating to the lives of animals. The more we try to become kindred with animals, the more
definitive the relationship between humans and animals becomes. Our relationship is almost anything
we decide it to be on our end of it, but as for the animals they seem to fairly indifferent. We can say
whatever we want to say about our own relationships with animals, but they re not going to ignore
their own primal instincts no matter what we say. This is demonstrated through Timothy Treadwell s
experience with the grizzly bears in Alaska. Treadwell truely believed to be a kindred spirit with the

The Power Of Picture Books In Integrating Literature In...
Columba, Kim, and Moe (2009) in The Power of Picture Books in Teaching Math, Science, and Social
Studies and Kane (2008) in Integrating Literature in the Content Areas proposed using literature to
teach the content areas. Using literature humanizes math, science, and social studies for children and
parents, providing a new method of communication, and stimulating interest, enjoyment, and
confidence (Columba et al., 2009). Additionally, it enables the teaching of content from multiple
perspectives, motivating students to discover the love of learning from challenging sources (Kane,
2008). Kane (2008) explained that 40 percent of high school graduates lack the literacy skills
necessary for employment. By teaching effective literacy strategies in content area learning, teachers
can foster deeper understandings of texts and increase students ability to generate ideas and

Comparing Poems Mother To Son And Success Is Counted...
The poems Mother to Son and Success Is Counted Sweetest seem to be illustrating their view of the
meaning of life and success in one way or another, but from different perspectives. Langston Hughes
describes the hardships of life by using an old, worn down stairwell as a conceit.¨Life for me ain t
been no crystal stair. It s had tacks in it, And splinters And boards were torn up, And places with no
carpet on the floor Bare.¨Langston is talking about the poor in this message, specifically poor black
Americans who were facing injustice and civil rights issues in Langston Hughes lifetime of living in
the Harlem Renaissance. Langston was trying to explain some of the adversities they would have to
adhere to on the road to success.

Dickinson s poem comes from a different overview. Dickinson starts with a figure who has already
reached the pinnacle of success. In addition, this person has never had to endure the climb like the

success and the failure that goes along with it, one cannot truly appreciate what they have. Dickinson s
characters come from wealth and royalty. Plus have been given success, but the purple host isn t the
star in this poem. The one Dickinson wants to have the vision on is not the king, but the dying man on
the battlefield. The dying man on the battlefield has failed, he s about to lose his life and he will never
be able to reach success, never be able to succeed. So Dickinson s point is the person who will never
succeed will always appreciate the true meaning of success over a person who success is just given to

Economics Essay Telephone Masts
Using the information in the data and your own economic knowledge, evaluate the economic case for
and against governments attempting to influence how mobile phones are manufactured and used. (25)
The government should intervene in the mobile phone market to correct market failure due to the
presence of negative externalities.
Negative externalities are detrimental third party effects caused by the production and/or consumption
of a good. A public good is a good provided free of charge to the consumer, by the government. A
public good is non excludable and non rivalrous. A merit good is a good that gives positive
externalities upon production and/or consumption. A merit good is non excludable, yet rivalrous.

Therefore, the government should intervene to correct imperfect knowledge and decrease demand for
mobile phones.
Imperfect knowledge occurs when either the consumer or the producer know more than the other
about the externalities that occur due to the production or consumption of a good. A government can
use persuasion techniques to correct imperfect knowledge on the part of the consumer. Ways in which
the government can do this include educational advertising and changes to the national curriculum to
impart views the government deems will correct imperfect knowledge.
It is argued that the production of mobile phones exerts negative externalities on the Asian employees
of the mobile phone (Extract E, Line 16). An example of a negative externality on the Asian workers
is that of low wages paid by Western firms to employees in poorer, foreign countries. If the
government s policy of persuasion was successful, demand for mobile phones produced by firms that
incur low costs by paying lower wages should decrease (See Figure 2). This would decrease the
quantity consumed of low cost mobile phones, and reduce the negative externality of an inequality in
the distribution of wealth and incomes, present in the production of low cost mobile phones.
If persuasion was successful, it would also provide incentive to firms that produce mobile phones to
increase wages and lower negative externalities, as demand would be higher in the market for mobile
phones produced with

The Smartphone market is emerging and growing. This is a well known fact. However, this report
primarily focuses upon what goes on behind the scenes in producing a Smartphone that is at par with
the customers needs. The Smartphone market moved from producing sets with an alphanumeric
keyboard to a qwerty keyboard, to a touch screen, to intelligent voice commands, to biometric
securities, etc. Nevertheless, the diversity in needs of the consumer, increasing demand levels, the
Smartphone industry hasn t ceased to grow.
The conventional product strategies which used to focus upon costs, differentiation, and customer and

Henry Ford began the transportation revolution when he came up with the idea of mass production,
making automobiles that were affordable for everyone. (Bowles, M., 2011, 2.4) Railway was another
popular travel option that allowed people to travel great distances for both business and pleasure. This
gave Americans more job opportunities because instead of only being able to work locally, they could
just hop on a train and work in other towns as well. Although trains and automobiles improved travel
significantly, the invention of the airplane was probably the biggest advancement made in
transportation. The Wright brothers invented the first airplane to fly in 1903. These brothers
dramatized the start of a revolution that has had more effect on the world than anything since the
discovery of America. (Wright, O., pg 1.1, 1988) The airplane not only allowed for even faster travel
times but it also allowed us to travel across oceans in a lot less time as well. Before airplanes, the only
way to travel across an ocean was by boat and that could take many months to do. Airplanes also
made it possible for Americans to import and export goods all over the world more efficiently and
faster than the automobile or even the train. Another way that technology has helped to end isolation is
through advancements in education. In the early centuries, there were books and teachers in school

Turn Taking Management for Multimodal Dialogue Systems
Introduction
Natural dialogue involves the management of many communicative resources in a complex activity.
Participants in a conversation transmit information, agree and disagree between each other, monitor
the communicative status of their messages, make decisions about non linguistic actions and, among
other things, they deal with social conventions about who is to talk and when. Conversations are joint
actions in which participants individually perform coordinated activities (Clark, 1996). It is quite
illustrative the metaphor proposed by Clark about dialoguing as dancing waltz. Each individual action
is coordinated in a choreographic way with the actions of the other person. How and when to talk is
learned since childhood, it is known that face to face conversation is the matrix of language
acquisition. It is common to listen parents telling to kids when is expected from them to talk (for
instance, they motivate responses if a question, an order or a hello was expressed, they show when is
expected to say thank you or you are welcome ). For the last twenty years, various efforts have sprung
from the interest to develop annotation models that reflect the diverse ways in which participants
behaviors contribute to conversation (Ahrenberg, et al., 1995; HCRC, Carletta, et al., 1996; DAMSL,
Allen Core, 1997). These tagging schemes are based on dialogue act annotation. They differ from each

Internal And External Factors Of Small Business
Small businesses have gained steadily more importance after they started to rise in the mid1990s.
They are characterised by a high chance of entrepreneurial risk; their link is inborn and cannot be rid
of; however, small firms are steadily progressing and acquiring a noteworthy role in nowadays society.
These types of businesses are particularly significant for the global economy and for the commercial
flow; they are known by governments worldwide for their contribution to the economic stability and
growth, employment and new job creation and social cohesion and development (Morrison et al,
2003). For instance, according to Delephanty, in the US small business employs almost half workforce
of the country and creates two thirds of all net new jobs; that s why small businesses have a major
importance worldwide (2015). In 2007, the number of small businesses in the UK was up to 4,6

that help the entrepreneur determine the success or the failure of SBs; they distinguished between
internal and external factors. Their importance can be denoted by the way they influence the progress
of the company.
The internal, or organisation, factors are indispensable; in fact, some believe that managing the

Bombardier Case Study
Why did Bombardier deliberately tap into the three member countries in the North American Free
Trade Agreement (NAFTA), instead of concentrating its work on one country? A company s decision
in the selection of the right location, is a key ingredient in a business s success. If a company selects
the wrong location, it may have inadequate access to customers, workers, transportation, materials,
and so on. Therefore, location often plays a huge role in a company s bottom line and ultimately its
success. Location strategy is a critical factor in the success or failure of a company. A good plan for
acquiring the optimal location by identifying needs and objectives, searching for, and acquiring the
best suitable location is a successful location strategy. Usually, a firm will set its goals on maximizing
opportunity while minimizing its costs and risks. (Heil, K., 2006) Trade zones, like NAFTA, allow for
companies to consider the benefits offered by the free trade zones provided under this agreement,
which are closed facilities monitored by customs services where goods can be brought without the
usual customs requirements. Bombardier, a Canadian base company and one of the World s leading
manufacturer of both planes and trains, acquired Learjet, a Wichita, Kansas based manufacturer of
luxury business jets. As NAFTA came to existence in 1994, Bombardier explored the agreement s
potential in respect to its Learjet business operations. Considering the highly competitive market for

  • 2. The Great Depression Of America America has been around for many years and during those years people of America have experienced horrible times and fantastic times. There were the world wars, and there were the roaring twenties when America was the fastest growing. After the roaring twenties the American economy took a turn for the worse. After such a prosperous decade, when America went into the depression people were not ready for such a drastic change. Many people didn t understand how it occurred, but now we have a better understanding of what happened. Imagine coming off of the highest times in life; Broadway shows every night, everyone dressed up in suits and dresses, everything going great and within a day all of that changes for the worst. One October day the stock market crashed which sent the American economy into turmoil. In fact, it was one of the major causes that led to the Great Depression. Two months after the original crash in October, stockholders had lost more than $40 billion dollars. Even though the stock market began to regain some of its losses, by the end of 1930, it just was not enough and America truly entered what is called the Great Depression (Kelly. M). After the crash the American economy was trying to climb back up to what it had once been, but it couldn t because of the hardships it had endured. People often put all the blame on the president that was in office when the great depression occurred. President Hoover has become somewhat notorious for trying too hard to stop ... • 3. The Process Of The Semi Structured Interview The process of the semi structured interview was to find participants willing to be interviewed about cheating. Once I found my participants I recorded our conversations whilst asking them questions from my already prepared list of questions. I followed the list as I saw fit, mostly following the questions, but breaking away a little depending on how the conversation flowed and always going back to my original questions. The domain that was studied were college aged students, ages 18 25, who were primarily UConn students. College students are seen as a major demographic for cheating, so by conducting these interviews we are able to see what college students really think about cheating and whether or not they are viewed correctly in society. In this study there were a total of 27 participants. 15 of the participants were female and 12 were male. The ages ranged from 19 25. My process of finding themes in the data was to start by reading each transcript fully until I started to see where people talked the mosts and brought up the most interesting points. Then I would read more transcripts focusing on those questions. From there I found multiple themes that occurred in many of the transcripts, then I narrowed them down to the four major themes that I wanted to discuss in my paper. For first theme is how widespread cheating is. Most people have had experience with cheating. Even if they never cheated or been cheated on, they know people who have cheated or been cheated on. ... • 4. Urban Sustainability And Its Impact On The Environment Introduction Urban sustainability is a very important topic that needs to be addressed and focused on so that cities and communities all over the world can change and reduce their harmful impact on the environment. In order to do so, communities must develop sustainably by focusing on how to manage resources in a way that guarantees welfare and promotes equity of current and future generations (Elmqvist, 2013). The impact of urbanization is only going to increase, so cities around the world need to find the means to do it in the most environmentally friendly and sustainable ways possible (Allen, 2009). Cities are a focus for sustainability because they are a hub of human activity and development, production, and consumption of goods (Elmqvist, 2013). Citizens and their governments need to embrace sustainability so they can secure the means of survival, improve the quality of the community, protect the environment, maintain healthy citizens, and to have pride in the legacy left for future generations (Roseland, 2012, p.3). A big issue for urban areas in developed countries is that they have become less reliant on their surrounding areas for sustenance and are increasingly importing consumer goods, food, energy, water, and building material from distant sources (Allen, 2009). Waste is also being exported from urban areas to distant regions (Allen, 2009). Cities and communities should try to be more sustainable and more self reliant by using the surrounding areas to produce ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This essay will discuss and analyze if order or freedom is more important for political systems. Furthermore, another aspect which has been greatly supported and criticized by many great philosophers is freedom. Freedom is where there is no power or control over the citizen s decisions. Every citizen is entitled to free speech and their right to interfere in political decision making. Additionally, the Athenian democracy ideology supports the freedom theory. The main aim of this democratic thinking was to give the power to the majority rather than the minority as this would take away the inequalities and corruption within society. Therefore the Athenian democracy was ruled by people hence it believes in self governing in which the dedication of citizens in participating and contributing in political decision making is extremely fundamental. • 11. The Importance Of Conflict In Group Counseling n references to Jaclyn s post, I concur with her based on her assertion that Conflict in group counseling settings is almost always inevitable. However, it is important to take note of the proficiency and the aptitudes of the counselor involved in the cause both at personal and professional levels. Despite the diverse disparities and the extent of antagonism between or among the conflicting parties, it is very important for the counselor never to take sides, but rather give both/all parties neutral treatment or attention; this will help bringing the conflicting parties at par as far as emotions are concerned thus, ready for the counselor s intercession, and subsequently discourse and mutual consensus (Jacobs, et al. 2016 ). Based on an encounter I once had as a conflict mediator between couples, who also happened to be my relatives, I realized that conflicting persons when undergoing counseling, more often that not, harbor and exhibit wide ranging emotional and even physical behaviors, this is to expose the opponents course of action(s) while veiling theirs. They want to show that they are the victims of the situation, and therefore they should be granted justice, or ruling should be done to their favor. This process, that is, conflict resolution/counseling within a group setting, calls for utmost sobriety and vigilance by the counselor so that he/she is not carried away by the different and confusing behaviors and sentiments of the conflicting parties. • 13. Compare Beowulf And Forrest Gump Nowadays many people believe that Beowulf and Forrest Gump are similar because they both considered as heroes of the time in which they lived. First of all, Beowulf considered as a hero because he is capable of sacrificing himself and courage in the name of justice. He is brave, and at the same time, a decent hero. There is no reason to doubt his merits. Forrest Gump is also considered as a hero because he thinks about faith, love, honesty, patriotism. He is a kind person who remained faithful to his family, friends, and his country. He is a man who always carries God in his soul, and lives according to the laws of Christian love to God and to the nearest ones. Both Beowulf and Forrest Gump do things that other people consider impossible. Beowulf and Forrest Gump can be compared as heroes representing their time period and cultures. Beowulf is a medieval heroic epic. The poem originated on the basis of ancient traditions related to pagan times. The poem represent an early example of precisely moral heroism, but not the one that is caused by the desire for fame and power. The main character of the poem, Beowulf, is capable of sacrificing himself and courage in the name of justice. He is a true hero by honoring his country and exerting his power and strength to protect others. His courage is shown by not hesitating to risk his own life to pursue the Dane s enemies. By being self assured, Beowulf is able to successfully defeat the fiends, Grendel and his infamous mother. At the time Beowulf is planning to pursue the vindictive dragon, the epic poem states, I ve never known fear, as a youth I fought in endless battles. I am old now, but I will fight again, seek fame still, If the dragon hiding in his tower dares to face me. (ll. 2511 2515). He feels no fear, is confident in fighting the dragon alone, and has no qualms in risking his life to save others. He declares his bravery by saying, When he comes to me I mean to stand, not run from his shooting flames, stand till fate decides which of us wins... No one else could do what I mean to, here, no man but me could hope to defeat this monster. (ll. 2525 2534) In his actions, Beowulf s bravery is clearly shown throughout the poem. • 14. The Impact Of Divorce On The Family The words from the Bible, therefore, what God has joined together, let no man separate have been habitually used during weddings throughout history. Stepping into the 21st century, those words have not been faithfully lived up to, evident through the numerous counts of divorces in society. Divorce can be defined as the legal dissolution of a marriage by a court order and in this generation, is seen as the norm. Apart from race, other major predictors of divorce include age at marriage, education, premarital births and religion. (Bartolic, Martin, White, 2013). Divorce often tends to be thought of in a monolithic way, as if everyone who gets a divorce goes through the same process. The impact of divorce on the well being of children have been notoriously viewed with a negative lens for many years due to possible risk factors that may affect children and their upbringing as they navigate through life as their parents separate. However, families have the ability to strengthen and bounce back even stronger with more knowledge through these experiences. This paper thoroughly discusses the impacts of divorce and its effects on family structure and the ways in which families can collectively work together to overcome crises and be resilient. This includes the many protective factors that help families overcome their challenges and adversities such as positive social interactions, personal protective factors, and belief systems in which all of these aspects encompass effective ... There was a lot of cruel, violence, segregations compare to the world in BNW. He also uses many literary devices to tell use what his society looks like during the 1930 s. One of the literary devices that Aldous Huxley uses is metaphor to give us a description of what is happening to Lenina and how she acts, also help her remind her who the real Lenina is. Lenina liked the drums. Shutting her eyes she abandoned herself to their soft repeated thunder, allowed it to invade her consciousness more and more completely, till at last there was nothing left in the world but that one deep pulse of sound. It reminded her reassuringly of the synthetic noises made at Solidarity Services and Ford s Day celebrations. Orgy porgy, she whispered to herself. These drums beat out just the same rhythms (107 8). • 23. The Pros And Cons Of Brown V Board Of Education The Brown V Board of Education case overturned provisions of the Plessy v Ferguson decision of 1896 which allowed separate but equal in all public areas including public schools. This case began a spark in the American Civil Rights Movement by demanding public facilities to allow African Americans the same privileges as whites. This case ended tolerance of racial segregation, however, the decision did not succeed in fully desegregating public education, but it definitely started a revolution. In addition to separate but equal, most facilities ignored the requirement, including most school districts which neglected their all black schools. In the early 1950s, NAACP lawyers brought class action lawsuits on behalf of black school students in multiple states including Virginia, Delaware, Kansas and South Carolina, seeking court orders to demand school districts to let black students attend white public schools. One of these class actions, Brown V Board of Education was filed against the Topeka Kansas school board by a man by the name of Oliver Brown, a parent of one of the students that was denied access to Topeka s white schools. Oliver Brown claimed that Topeka s racial segregation violated the constitution s Equal Protection Clause which says no state shall make or enforce any law which shall deny to any person within its jurisdiction the equal protection of the laws , this amendment did not include prohibiting integration. The federal district court dismissed his claim and ruled that segregation in public schools were substantially equal enough . The court negotiated and in the end decided that even if the facilities were equal between white and black schools, racial segregation in schools is inherently unequal , meaning it had been unconstitutional. The court later demanded the states to integrate their schools immediately. Brown v. Board of Education case had a major impact on not only the Civil Rights Movement but society as a whole. • 25. Pros And Cons Of Propaganda Propaganda is not a recent idea or concept however since the creation of film propaganda has found its way into them, especially documentary s. Documentary filmmaking is a platform and mode of filmmaking associated with truth and actuality to present an overview of a topic or issue (Aufderheide, 2007). Audiences expect this when watching documentary films because generally the topic of a documentary film is based on a real issue and/or event without the use with actors, sets and special effects (with the exception of docudramas) (Nichols, 2010). Although they may be based on a real world issue/event the filmmaker(s) behind the documentaries have an agenda and are trying to push certain ideologies or points of view on the audience. However, the assumption is made that they are doing this through fact and truth (Bizz). Propaganda on the other hand does not rely on truth or fact as it is an idea of dishonestly. Propaganda never tries to persuade or inform instead it attempts to deceive an audience by conveying/creating representations and ideas in a text that can only have one dominant reading (Aufderheide, 2007). Propaganda filmmaking is usually created by governments and political figures to impose hateful/nationalistic viewpoints and ideologies on the general populous (Aufderheide, 2007). However people also attempt to make connections between themselves and the more primal parts of nature. Animals have been along side people for centuries and them being by our side we ve assigned them certain traits and meanings as an attempt to connect with them on a deeper level. The Egyptians treated felines as almost gods in their culture because, after domestication, they killed vermin which helped crops grow. That praise evolved into worship, and gave felines new meaning among human beings. An example of a negative externality on the Asian workers is that of low wages paid by Western firms to employees in poorer, foreign countries. If the government s policy of persuasion was successful, demand for mobile phones produced by firms that incur low costs by paying lower wages should decrease (See Figure 2). This would decrease the quantity consumed of low cost mobile phones, and reduce the negative externality of an inequality in the distribution of wealth and incomes, present in the production of low cost mobile phones. If persuasion was successful, it would also provide incentive to firms that produce mobile phones to increase wages and lower negative externalities, as demand would be higher in the market for mobile phones produced with ... It was painted and completed by Joseph Mallord William Turner in England around 1820 and is an oil on canvas painting created during the romanticism era. The story behind this piece is, when a slave ship set out on a voyage they would pack the ships full of slaves, and along the way the slaves would get sick and die so the crew would throw them over board to avoid paying cargo tax. In the painting viewers see a satanic sky and dark murky water with limbs sticking out of it (Museum of Fine Arts, Boston). The brush strokes are all sort of slanted down to the right and some are even curled to depict waves that look to be swallowing up the slaves as well as the ship. This painting is very sublime because it has beautiful colors and form yet the meaning behind it all is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It is all around us and it helps to make our lives just a little bit easier. Technology has improved our communication and social interaction by making it possible for us to get information from one place to another in seconds and for people to travel great distances, including over the ocean in a lot less time. It has improved education by broadening our horizons and allowing us to experience and share different cultures with each other and enabling us to connect with new people from all around the world. Henry Ford began the transportation revolution when he came up with the idea of mass production, making automobiles that were affordable for everyone. (Bowles, M., 2011, 2.4) Railway was another popular travel option that allowed people to travel great distances for both business and pleasure. This gave Americans more job opportunities because instead of only being able to work locally, they could just hop on a train and work in other towns as well. Although trains and automobiles improved travel significantly, the invention of the airplane was probably the biggest advancement made in transportation. The Wright brothers invented the first airplane to fly in 1903. These brothers dramatized the start of a revolution that has had more effect on the world than anything since the discovery of America. (Wright, O., pg 1.1, 1988) The airplane not only allowed for even faster travel times but it also allowed us to travel across oceans in a lot less time as well. Before airplanes, the only way to travel across an ocean was by boat and that could take many months to do. Airplanes also made it possible for Americans to import and export goods all over the world more efficiently and faster than the automobile or even the train. Another way that technology has helped to end isolation is through advancements in education. In the early centuries, there were books and teachers in school and that is what the students ... • 38. Presentation of Research Proposal Turn Taking Management for Multimodal Dialogue Systems Introduction Natural dialogue involves the management of many communicative resources in a complex activity. Participants in a conversation transmit information, agree and disagree between each other, monitor the communicative status of their messages, make decisions about non linguistic actions and, among other things, they deal with social conventions about who is to talk and when. Conversations are joint actions in which participants individually perform coordinated activities (Clark, 1996). It is quite illustrative the metaphor proposed by Clark about dialoguing as dancing waltz. Each individual action is coordinated in a choreographic way with the actions of the other person. How and when to talk is learned since childhood, it is known that face to face conversation is the matrix of language acquisition. It is common to listen parents telling to kids when is expected from them to talk (for instance, they motivate responses if a question, an order or a hello was expressed, they show when is expected to say thank you or you are welcome ). For the last twenty years, various efforts have sprung from the interest to develop annotation models that reflect the diverse ways in which participants behaviors contribute to conversation (Ahrenberg, et al., 1995; HCRC, Carletta, et al., 1996; DAMSL, Allen Core, 1997). These tagging schemes are based on dialogue act annotation. They differ from each other in the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 39. Questions On The Healthcare System Discussion Questions 1. As the healthcare system prepares to select a outsource company as its vendor for this project, what types of information should it give to and gather from each vendor under consideration? An request for information (RFI) is typically used as a pre screening tool and is generally sent to a large number of vendors who EHR systems could potentially meet the needs of the organization. Essentially, it is used in the planning process to eliminate vendors. Typically, the scope of an RFI includes vendor background information, system technical architecture, interoperability health information exchange, system features and functionality, specific patient centered care functions are features (what s makes your product different), typically implementation process and install time; and lastly training and support. Once the vendor list is eliminated to a select few, an RFP is issued to those vendors. RFP is generally a request is more specific details on the system requirements and provides guidelines for vendors to following bidding. Typically, the RFP includes 1) instructions for vendor bidding, 2) organizational objectives, 3) organizational background and description of the facility including departmental applications and current infrastructure, 4) the type of system and applications being sought along with necessary requirements, 5) vendor qualifications with background information, experience, number of installs, financial reports, and ... • 40. Origin Of Replication Is The Starting Point Of Dna... BME 603 Exam 2 Tao Xu (Nov 9 2016) Origin of replication is the starting point of DNA replication. It cannot replicate in the host cells without this site. Antibiotic resistance gene can be served as a select agent to find the right clone and then improve the plasmid transformation efficiency. Antibiotic resistance gene can also give the bacteria a pressure to have the plasmid, because the bacteria would use more energy to replicate both the plasmid and its own DNA. (1) The protein needs complex eukaryotic post translational modifications for structure. (2) The eukaryotic proteins are not well folded in E. coli and form insoluble aggregates. (3) Proteins are secreted, membrane or intracellular. cDNA library is usually used to expressing eukaryotic gene in prokaryotes. There are no introns in E. coli DNA, so it does not have enzymes which could cut it out in the transcription procedure. In cDNA library, there are no introns, so it could be expressed in E. coli cells. Genomic DNA library have the non coding and regulatory sequence while cDNA library doesn t, but genomic DNA library is hard to make and maintain. They are characterised by a high chance of entrepreneurial risk; their link is inborn and cannot be rid of; however, small firms are steadily progressing and acquiring a noteworthy role in nowadays society. These types of businesses are particularly significant for the global economy and for the commercial flow; they are known by governments worldwide for their contribution to the economic stability and growth, employment and new job creation and social cohesion and development (Morrison et al, 2003). • 43. Bombardier Case Study Why did Bombardier deliberately tap into the three member countries in the North American Free Trade Agreement (NAFTA), instead of concentrating its work on one country? A company s decision in the selection of the right location, is a key ingredient in a business s success. If a company selects the wrong location, it may have inadequate access to customers, workers, transportation, materials, and so on. Therefore, location often plays a huge role in a company s bottom line and ultimately its success. Location strategy is a critical factor in the success or failure of a company. A good plan for acquiring the optimal location by identifying needs and objectives, searching for, and acquiring the best suitable location is a successful location strategy. Usually, a firm will set its goals on maximizing opportunity while minimizing its costs and risks. (Heil, K., 2006) Trade zones, like NAFTA, allow for companies to consider the benefits offered by the free trade zones provided under this agreement, which are closed facilities monitored by customs services where goods can be brought without the usual customs requirements. Bombardier, a Canadian base company and one of the World s leading manufacturer of both planes and trains, acquired Learjet, a Wichita, Kansas based manufacturer of luxury business jets. As NAFTA came to existence in 1994, Bombardier explored the agreement s potential in respect to its Learjet business operations. Considering the highly competitive market for ...
