Feminist Synthesis
By essentialism, Barry refers to the pure essence of the feminine which is assumed through Cixous
concept of écriture feminine (128). This idea is one which identifies femininity as a given entity which
is somehow just mysteriously there in a singular form, thus denying its existence as a social construct
that is shaped and conditioned in unique ways across different cultures (128). Cixous presents it as
impregnable to any form of conditioning, therefore characterizing the writing s syntax with spirit that
naturally emanates due to one s physical existence as a woman (128). These overarching
generalizations ultimately limit women to a very narrow identity category, consequently granting the
ability to critique the concept s

The American Dream In The Great Gatsby
The time of the Roaring Twenties is known as a rambunctious time in America where the nation was
celebrating the end of World War I. Many were striving to achieve the typical American dream of
having a nice house to raise a family, a stable job and the ability to travel. With the help of the credit
card and new advertisements being shown on television and radios, many achieved this dream by
spending money on things that were advertised to them. Even though most men had a job that
supported their growing family and paid their house payments, many were still quite unhappy. Despite
the appearance of having a glamorous and wonderful life, they struggled to find true happiness. The
reality of the American dream was a poor one. Everyone had ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

But while Mr. Gatsby was serving in the war, she accepted a proposal from another man. Daisy made
the decision to marry her husband Tom because she was afraid that she would never have the
opportunity to marry her first love, Jay Gatsby. Before long, she realizes that she is trapped because
she believed that she could avoid hardships by marrying for money. Her husband has a nice house and
appears to be doing well; however, Daisy quickly understands how foolish she was in rushing into her
marriage with Tom. Especially when he becomes very blatant about being unfaithful to her. But she
has trapped herself in the illusion that money can solve all her problems and bring her happiness in
life. On the outside, they appeared to be thriving, which led many to believe that they finally achieved
the American dream. But their marriage is an illusion of happiness. Upon realizing that he would
never have the opportunity to marry his only love, Mr. Gatsby begins to acquire anything he can get
his hands on in a desperate attempt to fill his life with purpose. However, no matter how many
artifacts he fills his mansion with and all the grand adventures he goes on, it is merely an empty shell.
He began to focus his life on achieving the American dream by building his reputation as a wealthy
man. Like many others of that time, he believes that filling his life with material items would ensure

Why Did Nero Kill The Poor
Why did Emperor Nero persecute these poor, innocent Christians that did no verified crimes? Well, he
had many theories that were not all one hundred percent accurate. Emperor Nero had many
conspiracies such as, that they started the Great Fire of Rome, and that they were being inappropriate
with other family members.
First of all, there was a Great Fire of Rome that started in 64 AD, and Emperor Nero blamed the
Christians for this horrible disaster. Although, many people thought that Nero started the fire, he took
this opportunity to put all the blame on the people he hated the most, the Christians. After he blamed
them, he sent them to jail for the crime of hating mankind. In jail they got tourcherd by dogs ripping
them apart, and they

Explain Mr. Proctor s Point Of View Of The Crucible
The Colony Abigail s point of view. I was awakened by the sunlight streaming through my curtains.
Yesterday was my eleventh birthday and the last spent with my family in my home. I was a live in
servant for the Proctors, Mrs. Proctor was very uneager about me being there, but I think Mr. Proctor
has taken quite a liking to me. While I was cleaning up the dishes, I caught Mr. Proctor staring at me.
He s quite old, turned sixty not too long ago, but he does seem to be a nice man. The fits and hysteria
had all started about a month ago. My friends and I went to the doctor, but they said nothing was
wrong. Mr. Proctor has started worrying about his reputation, being one of the employers of the
afflicted girls . He thinks that he can beat out the fits that were all troubled with. It scares me. My
uncle says just to keep going with the plan, says that if what I say is true John won t touch me. ...

of waiting she was sentenced to death. My first to put up for execution. Mrs. Proctor has been catching
the looks her husband has been sending me and the looks I have been sending him. She is starting to
get suspicious. Last night while I was finishing, pressing the linens, John came in and slipped his arms
around my waist. It has been getting more heated every day. While Mrs. Proctor was visiting the
market, he pushed me against the wall and gave me a passionate kiss. I liked it, but he was gone

Hamlet Movie Adaptation
Hamlet was written in 1609 by William Shakespeare; Shakespeare is one of the greatest poets and
playwrights. Since the original performance of Hamlet, there have been many movie adaptations.
Some of the many well known film directors for these movies are Kenneth Branagh, Franco Zeffirelli
and Sir Laurence Olivier. From the above film directors, I will compare and contrast Zeffirelli s
production of Hamlet to the original Shakespeare s play Hamlet.
Zeffirelli s version of Hamlet is one of the sound versions of Hamlet. It was produced and starred Mel
Gibson in the late 1900s. Comparing the film version of Hamlet to the play, Zeffirelli has made
noticeable changes in the movie including some clothing choices and characters reactions. He also
altered and cut lines from the original Shakespeare play.
Shakespeare centralized the theme of revenge in the ghost scene in Act 1 Scene 5 with the use of
literary devices. In the movie adaptation, Zeffirelli used a different approach to portray the theme,
without the use of any literary devices. He instead used costume choices, characters reactions and
different word choices.
Zeffirelli used a creative way to portray Hamlet s father wearing a white shirt with black pants instead
of Shakespeare s choice of armour. He used this to show how Hamlet s father would look in 90 s
society. He made Hamlet wear black clothing throughout the movie to show that Hamlet was the only
one who cared and grieved throughout his mother s marriage and until his own death.
Zeffirelli changed the characters reactions throughout the scenes. One of the character changes is
during Hamlet s father s ghost soliloquy. Instead of his father being projected as angry towards his
wife and his brother in the movie, he uses a calm tone. In the movie while Hamlet was listening to his
father, he should have looked angry and upset. Instead he had no emotions while listening to his
father. In the movie, he should have an angry tone and should be eager to plot revenge on who killed
his father, instead he did not talk throughout his father s death story. Zeffirelli chose this so that the
audience will wait and anticipate when Hamlet s anger will grow and his reaction during the scene.

Gogol Ganguli Quotes
For my parents generation, the idea was not that marriage was about some kind of idealized, romantic
love; it was a partnership. It s about creating family; it s about creating offspring. Aasif Mandvi. This
quote is an example of how Gogol Ganguli couldn t accept his parent s traditions and wanted to follow
his own ways. Gogol never accepted his past and it led to him not being happy with himself. As he
grew up he was introduced to the American ways and seemed to quickly embrace them. Although, on
the inside he was split into two different people. Gogol never attained true happiness because of his
ability to not fully accept his Indian culture. It s a struggle that is displayed through his whole life.

He is afraid to be Nikhil, someone he doesn t know. Who doesn t know him. (57). His parents make
him take the name of Nikhil as his good name, a name in the Indian culture that is used for
identification in the outside world (26). In his earlier years he has trouble with his name because he
thinks he doesn t need a good name. He just wants to be Gogol. It is as Nikhil that he loses his
virginity at a party at Ezra Stiles, with a girl wearing a plaid woolen skirt and combat boots and
mustard tights (105). Later in his life he starts to use his good name, Nikhil, and it seems he becomes a
new person and enjoys life. The truth is Gogol isn t enjoying life, Nikhil is. Without people in the
world to call him Gogol, no matter how long he himself lives, Gogol Ganguli will, once and for all,
vanish from the lips of loved ones, and so, cease to exist. Yet the thought of this eventual demise
provides no sense of victory, no solace. It provides no solace at all (289). After the divorce of his wife
and the death of his dad, he learns the importance of his name. This is a battle all his life. His name
makes him who he is and he never understood so he was never truly happy. His name didn t allow him
to be happy because he accept himself as

Examples Of Deception In The Open Window
Deception
Have you ever been tricked or deceived by someone? I have brought up this question to tell you in
detail about the story The Open Window where a person is deceived. The overarching question is was
the deception a harmless prank or mean spirited actions by the niece? There are different perceptions
from multiple characters. This short story is very popular and can be viewed as a story within a story.
I do not think that the story could happen without the deception of the niece because that is what the
story is based around. It s the central theme. Some examples from the story are when she is talking
about the window and why the window is kept open. Also, another example from the story where the
niece shows deception is when she

Descriptive Essay About Airport
I m so nervous! I said to my sister as we stepped out of the car grabbing our luggage and making our
way into the airport. When we got in, I took a long glance of everything around since this was a
completely new experience to me. The ceilings were high, the lines were very long, spaces were
cramped, and there were many stores full of souvenirs and anything you could think of. I wasn t
expecting it to be so busy and packed since it was like 5 o clock in the morning. I didn t know what I
had to do so I just shadowed behind as we got into line to get through security and bag check and then
to finally make our way onto the plane. And that whole process surprisingly took about 2 3 hours.
I slowly walked onto the plane still with a ton of nervousness and anxiety, filling up my thoughts with
I can t do this or a I can definitely do this just not ready enough.
I first sat down next to my sisters friend but then chose to sit next to my mom. I had to put my carry
on in the overhead bin, but since I could barely reach to that point, someone was nice enough to help
me in putting my luggage into that spot. I sat down and watched my other sister walk right by us with
my nephew since their seat was way in the back. My mom turned and asked You ready? and I said no
because I truly thought that I wasn t. She told me that I would be just fine and that s when I started to
question if I was overreacting or not. The plane was starting to get ready to take off so my whole body

Analysis Of Angelou s I Know Why The Caged Bird Sings
The world of literature has been dominated by males throughout most of history; this is due to the fact
that women we re thought of as inferior to men. Over the last 100 years women have been proving
themselves in this sexist society, especially in the world of literature poetry, to be more specific. Two
names come to mind when thinking of great female poets: Maya Angelou and Emily Dickinson. Even
thought both of these women we re outstanding poets, they had quite different styles of writing due to
the difference in time periods, experiences, and culture. As time goes by, society is influenced in
different ways due to human evolution. This was true for both Maya Angelou and Emily Dickinson.
Maya Angelou was born April 4, 1928. This means she was born right in the middle of segregation.
This influenced Angelou because she was an African American woman who wrote about freedom for
her people. The best example would be her famous novel and poem I Know Why The Caged Bird
Sings. The book is about her life struggles and the poem is a metaphor about a bird that seeks
freedom. The final stanza of the poem reads The caged bird sings with a fearful trill of things
unknown but longed for still and his tune is heard on the distant hill for the caged bird sings of
freedom. This excerpt of the poem demonstrates how she yearned for her people to get the freedom
they deserved. The comparison of the caged bird and the bird that s free can be seen in many different
ways. The first one

Payday Loan Loans Are A Good Option
But sometimes there are unforeseen financial circumstances. Paydays loans are a good option to
consider. Keep these tips in mind when thinking about getting a payday loan.
People should only use a payday loan as their last resort. Loans carry very high interest rates which
actually have you paying close to 25 percent of the initial amount of the loan. Prior to securing a
payday loan, investigate your options. A simple method to find reputable payday loan lenders to to
look on websites that review them. You can get information on which companies are trustworthy and
which ones have shady practices that you should avoid. If set on getting payday loans, review all
information before signing a contract. There are scams that are set up to offer a subscription that you
may or may not want, and take the money right out of your bank checks account without your
knowledge. Do not get involved in a never ending vicious cycle. You should never get a payday loan
to get the money to pay the note on another one. Do everything you can to get out of this cycle. It is
very easy to fall into this trap if you don t take steps to prevent it. The costs can spiral out of control
quickly and leave you broke.
Be sure you have a clear understanding of payment due dates. Loans have high rates when it comes to
their interest rates, and these companies often charge fees from late payments. It is imperative that
these types of loans are paid on time. It s even better to do so prior to the day they

Similarities Between Dracula And Modern Day Society
Are there still connections between Bram Stokers famous novel Dracula and modern day society? In
Dracula, Stoker expands on many themes that indeed exist today. Not only does he touch on the most
obvious theme, sex. He expands on gender division and good versus evil. Some say since times have
changed the themes I introduced have changed as well, leaving connections between then and now
irrelevant. However, I feel that although times have changed they still have roots from the time of the
novel to now. In this essay I will expand on the themes of this novel while connecting them to modern
day society, the critical texts I have chosen and will mention later on in the essay are a good
representation of the commonalities between the chill, dark Victorian days in which the era that
Dracula was written in and modern day. Why does Bram Stoker and many authors alike make
vampires out to be voluptuous and sexy? Is it because it brings light to our darkest desires? Not in the
sense that we desire to feed on another humans blood. But in more of a dark and sinful kind of way. In
society back then and now, sex is still kind of weird to talk and be open about. Although, sex is more
accepted nowadays it is still something you usually do not discuss. So I believe what drew a large
crowd in for Dracula was the fact that it went against the norms of society. For example, the Jonathan
Harker describes the encounter with the three sisters as ecstasy (Stoker 42). He said that they had

The International Tribunal for the Former Yugoslavia
On May 25, 1993, U.N. Security Council Resolution 827 established an international tribunal charged
with prosecuting violations of international law arising from the armed conflicts in the former
Yugoslavia. Not since the Nuremberg and Tokyo trials, following World War II has an international
court tried individuals accused of crimes against humanity, war crimes, and genocide. The
International Tribunal for the Former Yugoslavia (ICTFY), which was established at The Hague,
Netherlands, is widely seen as an important step toward the deterrence of crimes, the establishment of
the firm rule of international law, and the promotion of world peace. Yet, from its inception, the

In eastern Bosnia, these atrocities were war crimes that breached the Geneva Conventions and other
international laws governing conflicts between nations. They were also breaches of international
humanitarian law, as formulated at Nuremberg and elsewhere. When these tactics were employed by
Bosnian Serb forces as part of the program of so called ethnic cleansing directed against Bosnian
Muslims and other non Serbs, they also constituted genocide. The Genocide Convention is specifically
designed to cover crimes against groups, as opposed to crimes against humanity which do not
necessarily involve offenses against or persecutions of groups. But the Convention also limits the
crime of genocide to actions occurring between states. Under the tribunal s mandate, however, ethnic
persecution is treated as an international crime even if it has occurred within a single state. This is a
considerable expansion of international law, yet, through it, ICTFY exemplifies a new understanding
of accountability that makes heinous and systematic rights violations an international matter. The
thinking behind this change in the interpretation of international humanitarian law is based on the
easily observed fact that victims of ethnic persecution are citizens who have been rendered aliens
within their own homeland, and their status,

Taking a Look at Blood, Sweat and Tears
No late 60s American group ever started with as much musical promise as Blood, Sweat Tears, or
realized their potential more fully and then blew it all in a series of internal conflicts and grotesque
career moves. It could almost sound funny, talking about a group that sold close to six million records
in three years and then squandered all of that momentum. They fused a rock roll rhythm section to a
horn section, held out the promise of a jazz rock fusion that could storm the pop charts. The band was

Examples Of Satire On Smoking
Satire It s not surprising that in this world you see at least one person a day smoking. I mean, who
doesn t love watching people rush to get lung cancer? Seeing one person just taking their life away
with something so stoppable, is so adorable, I mean what other qualities would you look for in a man?
I like mine fully addicted and ready to waste their life away. It s the best religion that I must say so
myself. In fact, I like that, people rely on something like religion to lead them in the way they want to
live their life. I personally believe in the smokies. The smokinese are a group of people that worship
nicotine. Id honestly love to be a part of that. I mean, I love the smell of it in the air, the feeling of
polluted air. Nothing gets better than that. In reality smoking is the only relief to take away pain these
days. I mean, what other reason would people put something so horrible into their body if it didn t
relieve any type of stress or good feeling. I live for the day to see everyone to have lung cancer and
killing themselves for just being vulnerable about stress relief. I mean, people preach smoking
nowadays. People wanna go back to the way of smoking in a restaurant and people recommend it, it s
a religion that s being created without anyone understanding. As the smokinese people believe that the
only way to live a happy and stress free life is to become addicted to smoking, they sure are right. I

When a multinational company has difficulty raising equity capital, due to the lack of adequate private
risk capital in a foreign country, the company may explore the possibility of selling partial ownership
to the International Finance Corporation (IFC). The IFC is a subsidiary of the World Bank that also
provides debt capital and equity capital to qualified companies (Basic facts about IFC, 2005, p1).
These alternative sources of financing may significantly differ with respect to cost, terms, and
conditions. Therefore, management must carefully locate and use the proper means to finance
international business operations.
Due to the fact that more firms are becoming multinational, it is expected that the GFS will gain
importance over the next decade. Expanding operations to foreign countries has become the goal for
many U.S. companies. In addition, the above mentioned financial institutions will play a big role in
the decision making if operations can expand abroad or not. Considering that the services the GFS
provides encompass a wide array of services, it is likely that the magnitude of this industry will
increase proportionately with the speed of globalization. Globalization will be the driving force for the
GFS. As our world becomes more interrelated, global financial institutions will become helping guides
to companies who want to become multinational.

decisions, but one with passion and drive can achieve the things one desires to accomplish. Elle uses
her past three years at Harvard to provide evidence that without a passion for law, her goal would still
remain unattainable. In summary, Elle rejoices with her fellow peers by presenting the final words of
their graduation. She surrounds her speech on the topic of passion, conveying the significance of
disregarding other people s opinions, and the importance of having faith in not only other people, but
also yourself when establishing and completing goals. Ending her speech with a cheerful, We did it!
demonstrates the confirmation that regardless of what other s believe, anything is achievable

Key to Success in Life
Education is the key to success in life, and teachers make a lasting impact in the lives of their students
Solomon Ortiz
Do you agree with this quotation? Thai society believes that education is the key to make them or their
child success in their life. It s true but not totally true. Education is one part of successful. It s not the
whole thing to make us success.
Most of Thai parents will support or coerce their child to study in famous school such as Triam Udom
Suksa School, Chulalongkorn University Demonstration Elementary School and Satriwitaya School
which they trust that this academic can make their child smarter than other students and they will have
more chance to achieve in admission. Another belief of them is encouraging their child to study in top
three private universities in Thailand as Thammasat University, Chulalongkorn University and
Kasertsart University because it can lead student to find better career so they will have greater future
than student who graduate from public university.
Moreover, most of us believe that the higher education degree you have the greater accomplishment
you will. However, it has someone who doesn t have a chance to study in university because they are
poor so they need to work so hard to find money to stay alive.
As I mention at first that education is not the whole thing to make our life success. Why? Because
some of achievement people don t graduate from private university and some of them have the highest
education level

Ford Pinto
Principles of Responsible Commerce (COMM 101)
Case 2.3 (The Ford Pinto)
Week 4 1. What moral issues does the Pinto case raise?
Moral issues that Ford Pinto case raises included producing dangerous products which are not safe to
use it without informing the dangerous of the products to the public. In addition, lobbying the NHTSA
to delay the safety measure of the products is also one of the moral issues that Ford Pinto case raises.
(53 words)
2. Suppose Ford officials were asked to justify their decision. What moral principles do you think they
would invoke? Assess Ford s handling of the Pinto from the perspective of each of the moral theories
discussed in this chapter.

Is doing so ever morally legitimate?
No. Kant s 2nd categorical imperatives stated that we need to treat humanity always an end and never
as a means. (Shaw, Barry amp; Sansbury, 2009, pg77) According to the case, Ford did not put a human
s life as the first priority; in fact, they placed a monetary value on a human s life. They are using the
human life to determine whether their decision is profitable in the cost benefit analysis which is
against Kantianism. (67 words)
6. What responsibilities to its customers do you think Ford had? What are the most important moral
rights, if any, operating in the Pinto case?
Ford should produce the products that are safe to be used. Besides that, Ford should also be honest to
the customer by providing the truth information to the customer. In this case, the most important moral
rights is every human being has the inherent right to live. Thus, Ford should disclose the dangerous of
their products to the customer. (59 words)
7. Would it have made a moral difference if the savings resulting from not improving the Pinto gas
tank had been passed on to Ford s customer? Could a rational customer have chosen to save a few
dollars and risk having the more dangerous gas tank? What if Ford had told potential customers about
its decision?
No. There would not have made a moral difference since the products are dangerous which might risk
the human s life.

My Cashier Career
I really enjoy working at Dairy Queen. I complete many tasks throughout my shifts. We cashiers are
able to take orders, make ice cream, clean up, and make sure that the customer area stays clean.
When I get to work, I clock in first and wash my hands at the hand washing sink. Next, I sign my
name in the Red Book and look at the daily chores that need to be completed. Before I start on the
chores, I check the screen to make sure that no ice cream needs to be made. If I go straight to doing
the chores, I check the ice, make sure the candies are stocked, clean the customer area, and make sure
that the condiment station is stocked. Then, during my shift, I take orders and make ice cream. I also
work drive thru sometimes,

Movie Analysis of Jaws Essay
Movie Analysis of Jaws
Martin Brody is the new police chief trying to rid Amity Island of a savage shark terrorising the
islanders and tourists alike in the 1976 thriller, Jaws. Jaws was directed by Steven Spielberg and
starred Roy Scheider, Robert Shaw and Richard Dreyfuss. Amity Island relies almost fully on the
income gained by tourists visiting the island in the summer vacation. It is up to Martin Brody to
protect the beach goers by finding the shark and killing it. This brings up issues of fighting fears as
well as fighting the constant battle between humans and nature. It is set around July 4th because this
would be the height of the tourist season for the island and the threat of the shark ... Show more

However it also shows tension as during the silence the audience do not know if another attack is
going to happen.
The second attack is on a small boy in the sea at a crowded beach on Amity Island. It starts with the
young boy asking his mother if he can go back into the sea. We then see Brody sat on the beach
watching out for sharks. The camera does a long shot of Brody s point of view, which we see a woman
screaming. This makes us think that the girl is being attacked when she is not, this builds up tension
because it hasn t happened yet and we know it will do we just don t no when. Using the wide angle
shot of the shows us how big the sea is and how vulnerable people are in it. It then shows a boy
running back into the water using mid range shot with the boy on the lilo n the background and the
children in the fore ground. This makes us uneasy because there is a lot of splashing which means if
the shark was to be there it would be camouflaged and also the splashing attracts sharks. Next, there is
a close up shot of a small child singing, seeing the small child singing is calming which lulls us into a
false sense of security, making the imminent attack scarier as you do not expect it. A view from under
the water is then given from the shark s point of view showing legs. This gives us the signal that

All The Years Of Her Life Analysis
Mother s are mysteries that we never seem to solve. Have you ever asked yourself, do I really know
my mother? Morley Callaghan in All the Years of Her Life introduced us to a mother who
demonstrates a kindness for her son, Alfred, and a strength untethered by Mr.Carr s intimidation. She
proves her unbendable patience and unwavering heart over the long years of her life. Mrs. Higgins is a
kind, strong, and patient mother.
Marley Callaghan shows Mrs. Higgins demonstrating an unfaltering kindness towards Mr. Carr who is
hard faced and stern. Alfred believes she will be harsh or will act poorly but instead, she misled him
by, [smiling] her blue eyes never [wavering], with a calmness and dignity that surprised him.
When Mr.Carr wanted to call the police, she could ve been angry but instead, she accepted his
argument politely.
She gently adds, Yes, I suppose so. It s not for me to say because he is my son[,] [y]et I sometimes
think a little good advice is the best thing for a boy. Instead of acting out of fear or panic, Mrs.
Higgins acts out of kindness, helping her son by giving a little advice. She sees her son s fault and
understands Mr.Carr s arguments, nonetheless, she decides not to reprimand him in front of the
manager. Throughout this encounter, Mrs.Higgins showed strength ... Show more content on

Active Transport
Active transport is the movement of molecule throughout the cell from the region of a lower chamber
into a chamber of higher concentration. This type of transport uses energy to transport things to point
A to point B. Active transport usually happen around the cell membrane, also there are thousands of
proteins contained in the cell lipid layer. These proteins does most of the work in the transporting
system. They are placed across the membrane so one part is inside of the cell while another is on the
outside. Only when they cross the bilayer they will be able to move molecules in and out of the cell.
The membrane proteins are very specific. One protein that will move glucose will not move calcium
ions. There are many types of membrane ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
For this process it is often only found when the particles or cells move down from their concentration
gradient from one area of higher concentration to an areas of lower standard. The most common type
of passive transport is known as Osmosis. This process is solely responsible for moving water
throughout a cell membrane. Other types of particles can also move throughout the cell as well. They
are frequently very small molecules such as oxygen and simple pass between the spaces in the lipid
bilayer of the cell s membrane. This is a very difficult or hard to understand process. However, it is a
very important process that all cells need to survive. One type of passive transport is diffusion. This
process is the process which it moves things from a higher concentration to a lower concentration. The
difference between the concentration between the two areas is often called concentration gradient.
Diffusion will continue until this gradient is terminated or no longer is there. Since diffusion moves
material from an area of higher concentration to an areas of low concentration it is, identified as
moving solutes down the concentration gradient . However, in many cases the moving forces of
passive transport can not be identified to the simplified

When we think of a King we have a Royal figure in mind that is chosen or while others are not, to rule
their country, an extravagant non ordinary person. What about the King of England, Scotland, and
Ireland. That was King Charles II, an extra ordinary person that the people loved, especially the
women. Charles the Second was a man of high stature who accomplished good deeds and was a very
merry monarch behind the scenes. Exactly who was Charles II? He was born May 29, 1630. Charles II

Louise de Keroualle attempted to persuade Charles to become a Catholic, a suicidal move in strongly
Protestant England; Charles was canny enough to resist, despite his own Catholic leanings (Jokinen).
On his deathbed in 1685, the King begged his brother and successor, James Do not let poor Nelly
starve. James generously paid Nell s debts and gave her an allowance, but it was not for long. After
Nell s death she became something of a legend, as a good natured charmer, and an ordinary girl from
the slums who was probably the only mistress of King Charles who truly loved him (Abbott). He is
known as the Merry Monarch in reference to both the liveliness and hedonism of his court as well as
the relief to return to normality after ten years of puritan rule (Jokinen). Charles II was definitely a
lady s man considering he had no children with his wife, Catherine. Charles II made changes in
England that affected the entire world so to speak. Charles created a council of five men who were to
be his ministers and a liaison with Parliament (Abbott). They were members of Parliament and the
beginning of what would eventually become the cabinet of parliamentary government that portion of
the government that would perform government functions in the place of the monarch (Abbott).
Charles was extremely tolerant of those who had condemned his father to death (Jokinen). He was

6.03 Calorimetry Lab Report Conclusion
Purpose: The purpose of this lab is to use the three equations of solution chemistry to determine the
molarity and percent composition by weight of a solution. Methods: First, a burette, ring stand, clamp,
and an empty flask were obtained. The burette, with the valve closed, was attached to the ring stand
with a clamp, and the empty flask was placed below the burette. Next, 50mL of the NaOH solution
were poured into the burette, and a small bit was drained into the empty flask to ensure that the tip of
the burette was also full of NaOH solution. The volume of the NaOH in the burette was recorded.
Next, approximately 0.6 grams of KHP were massed poured into an empty 125mL flask. Two drops of

by the volume. The percent by weight of acetic acid in the solution needed to be found by dividing the

density and molarity to reach the desired value. With this information, it was possible to compare both

Wuthering Heights Meaning Of Love Essay
Wuthering Heights by Emily Brontë is considered a great Victorian love story between various
characters, but most famously, between Catherine Earnshaw and Heathcliff. As the novel is a tale of
romance, the word love and other related words is used a great deal throughout. It is used to describe
the emotions and sentiments of the various characters in relation to other characters. On the surface,
love is perceived as something beautiful and amazing but this does not cover the complex layers that it
contains. What makes it so elaborate are the develop characters that become involved with the word.
Brontë creates developed characters with personalities and uses the word love through their lens to
demonstrate how they perceive and view love. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Yet there is a contradiction between the meaning of love that Catherine and Heathcliff communicate to
one another in comparison to their actions. In society, when a person loves another person, it is a
social norm that they get married to prove that they are committed to one another. However, Catherine
refuses to marry Heathcliff despite the emotional and spiritual bond they share because marrying him
would be beneath her. The sense of love between the two is so deep that for them not to be wed creates
a confusion surrounding their meaning of love. Although the keyword love is used multiple times
throughout the novel, one of the first moments it is used in a romantic notion is when Nelly asks
Catherine if she loves Edgar. I question why the word love is not firstly used in the context of
Catherine and Heathcliff; as they possess a very passionate love. The quote states: First and foremost,
do you love Mr. Edgar? Who can help it? Of course I do, she answered (69). However, there is a
complication between the type of love that Nelly and Catherine imply. Nelly hopes that Catherine
genuinely loves Edgar because she knows that Catherine is in love with Heathcliff. The love that
Catherine knowingly possesses in relation to Edgar is selfish and shallow, yet marries him anyway.
She marries Edgar because he is socially respectable; he is handsome, young, rich and because he
loves her. Edgar seems to have priority over Catherine s love because of his social

Subsequently, the Governor s deadline to submit the Executive budget to legislatures are mid January

decisions based on the Executive budget. This process involves the budget s spending proposals,
revenue estimates, holding public hearings on major programs, seeking further information from the

American School System
The American school system is absolutely broken. A product of terrible teachers and administrators,
horrible districts, and our country s inability to fix the inherent flaws of the system. We sit back as the
youth of our proud nation spend their days in the factory we call school. Factory because schools are
not designed to teach our children. These factories throw knowledge at the kids left and right. There
are so many bits and pieces of information being hurled around at once. With the vast expanse of
knowledge entering the minds of young people during the day, one would assume the child would rise
to become educated. But the problem is, schooling by itself creates no intelligent people. Schools are
designed to produce good members of ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
But something we do not think about is merely pure luck. We look at smart and successful individuals
and attribute their success to themselves. It is the fantasy like concept of the American self made man.
This dreamlike concept is completely shattered by the idea that successful individual are, above all
else, lucky. If we look at Nobel prize winners and their backgrounds, we see that many of them are
from areas with good schools. These communities with lots of support, minimal drug use, and
basically zero murders, nurture great minds. That is the luck of the intellectual at play. Take into
account this hypothetical example. Two boys are born in the same time periods with the same drive to
succeed. Both boys go about schooling with the same initial enthusiasm. The difference between them
is that one lives in a clean district with a great school. This child never stops performing. Partially
because of great teachers, and partially because of the support from home. This child is not influenced
by all of the harmful things of inner city environments. But the other boy is. The other boy was
unlucky enough to be born into a family who does not love him. This boy lives in poverty, has seen his
mother doing bad things, and the schools barely teach him a single thing. Frustrated with school the

  • 2. Feminist Synthesis By essentialism, Barry refers to the pure essence of the feminine which is assumed through Cixous concept of écriture feminine (128). This idea is one which identifies femininity as a given entity which is somehow just mysteriously there in a singular form, thus denying its existence as a social construct that is shaped and conditioned in unique ways across different cultures (128). Cixous presents it as impregnable to any form of conditioning, therefore characterizing the writing s syntax with spirit that naturally emanates due to one s physical existence as a woman (128). These overarching generalizations ultimately limit women to a very narrow identity category, consequently granting the ability to critique the concept s ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Well, he had many theories that were not all one hundred percent accurate. Emperor Nero had many conspiracies such as, that they started the Great Fire of Rome, and that they were being inappropriate with other family members. First of all, there was a Great Fire of Rome that started in 64 AD, and Emperor Nero blamed the Christians for this horrible disaster. Although, many people thought that Nero started the fire, he took this opportunity to put all the blame on the people he hated the most, the Christians. Yesterday was my eleventh birthday and the last spent with my family in my home. I was a live in servant for the Proctors, Mrs. Proctor was very uneager about me being there, but I think Mr. Proctor has taken quite a liking to me. While I was cleaning up the dishes, I caught Mr. Proctor staring at me. He s quite old, turned sixty not too long ago, but he does seem to be a nice man. The fits and hysteria had all started about a month ago. My friends and I went to the doctor, but they said nothing was wrong. Mr. Proctor has started worrying about his reputation, being one of the employers of the afflicted girls . He thinks that he can beat out the fits that were all troubled with. It scares me. • 7. Hamlet Movie Adaptation Hamlet was written in 1609 by William Shakespeare; Shakespeare is one of the greatest poets and playwrights. Since the original performance of Hamlet, there have been many movie adaptations. Some of the many well known film directors for these movies are Kenneth Branagh, Franco Zeffirelli and Sir Laurence Olivier. From the above film directors, I will compare and contrast Zeffirelli s production of Hamlet to the original Shakespeare s play Hamlet. Zeffirelli s version of Hamlet is one of the sound versions of Hamlet. It was produced and starred Mel Gibson in the late 1900s. Comparing the film version of Hamlet to the play, Zeffirelli has made noticeable changes in the movie including some clothing choices and characters reactions. He also altered and cut lines from the original Shakespeare play. Shakespeare centralized the theme of revenge in the ghost scene in Act 1 Scene 5 with the use of literary devices. In the movie adaptation, Zeffirelli used a different approach to portray the theme, without the use of any literary devices. He instead used costume choices, characters reactions and different word choices. Zeffirelli used a creative way to portray Hamlet s father wearing a white shirt with black pants instead of Shakespeare s choice of armour. He used this to show how Hamlet s father would look in 90 s society. He made Hamlet wear black clothing throughout the movie to show that Hamlet was the only one who cared and grieved throughout his mother s marriage and until his own death. Zeffirelli changed the characters reactions throughout the scenes. One of the character changes is during Hamlet s father s ghost soliloquy. Instead of his father being projected as angry towards his wife and his brother in the movie, he uses a calm tone. In the movie while Hamlet was listening to his father, he should have looked angry and upset. Instead he had no emotions while listening to his father. In the movie, he should have an angry tone and should be eager to plot revenge on who killed his father, instead he did not talk throughout his father s death story. Zeffirelli chose this so that the audience will wait and anticipate when Hamlet s anger will grow and his reaction during the scene. With the removal and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Gogol never accepted his past and it led to him not being happy with himself. As he grew up he was introduced to the American ways and seemed to quickly embrace them. In his earlier years he has trouble with his name because he thinks he doesn t need a good name. He just wants to be Gogol. It is as Nikhil that he loses his virginity at a party at Ezra Stiles, with a girl wearing a plaid woolen skirt and combat boots and mustard tights (105). Later in his life he starts to use his good name, Nikhil, and it seems he becomes a new person and enjoys life. The truth is Gogol isn t enjoying life, Nikhil is. Without people in the world to call him Gogol, no matter how long he himself lives, Gogol Ganguli will, once and for all, vanish from the lips of loved ones, and so, cease to exist. Yet the thought of this eventual demise provides no sense of victory, no solace. It provides no solace at all (289). After the divorce of his wife and the death of his dad, he learns the importance of his name. This is a battle all his life. • 11. Descriptive Essay About Airport I m so nervous! I said to my sister as we stepped out of the car grabbing our luggage and making our way into the airport. When we got in, I took a long glance of everything around since this was a completely new experience to me. The ceilings were high, the lines were very long, spaces were cramped, and there were many stores full of souvenirs and anything you could think of. I wasn t expecting it to be so busy and packed since it was like 5 o clock in the morning. I didn t know what I had to do so I just shadowed behind as we got into line to get through security and bag check and then to finally make our way onto the plane. And that whole process surprisingly took about 2 3 hours. I slowly walked onto the plane still with a ton of nervousness and anxiety, filling up my thoughts with I can t do this or a I can definitely do this just not ready enough. I first sat down next to my sisters friend but then chose to sit next to my mom. I had to put my carry on in the overhead bin, but since I could barely reach to that point, someone was nice enough to help me in putting my luggage into that spot. I sat down and watched my other sister walk right by us with my nephew since their seat was way in the back. My mom turned and asked You ready? and I said no because I truly thought that I wasn t. • 12. Analysis Of Angelou s I Know Why The Caged Bird Sings The world of literature has been dominated by males throughout most of history; this is due to the fact that women we re thought of as inferior to men. Over the last 100 years women have been proving themselves in this sexist society, especially in the world of literature poetry, to be more specific. Two names come to mind when thinking of great female poets: Maya Angelou and Emily Dickinson. Even thought both of these women we re outstanding poets, they had quite different styles of writing due to the difference in time periods, experiences, and culture. As time goes by, society is influenced in different ways due to human evolution. This was true for both Maya Angelou and Emily Dickinson. Maya Angelou was born April 4, 1928. This means she was born right in the middle of segregation. This influenced Angelou because she was an African American woman who wrote about freedom for her people. The best example would be her famous novel and poem I Know Why The Caged Bird Sings. The book is about her life struggles and the poem is a metaphor about a bird that seeks freedom. The final stanza of the poem reads The caged bird sings with a fearful trill of things unknown but longed for still and his tune is heard on the distant hill for the caged bird sings of freedom. This excerpt of the poem demonstrates how she yearned for her people to get the freedom they deserved. The comparison of the caged bird and the bird that s free can be seen in many different ways. • 13. Payday Loan Loans Are A Good Option But sometimes there are unforeseen financial circumstances. Paydays loans are a good option to consider. Keep these tips in mind when thinking about getting a payday loan. People should only use a payday loan as their last resort. Loans carry very high interest rates which actually have you paying close to 25 percent of the initial amount of the loan. Prior to securing a payday loan, investigate your options. A simple method to find reputable payday loan lenders to to look on websites that review them. You can get information on which companies are trustworthy and which ones have shady practices that you should avoid. If set on getting payday loans, review all information before signing a contract. There are scams that are set up to offer a subscription that you may or may not want, and take the money right out of your bank checks account without your knowledge. Do not get involved in a never ending vicious cycle. You should never get a payday loan to get the money to pay the note on another one. Do everything you can to get out of this cycle. It is very easy to fall into this trap if you don t take steps to prevent it. The costs can spiral out of control quickly and leave you broke. Be sure you have a clear understanding of payment due dates. Loans have high rates when it comes to their interest rates, and these companies often charge fees from late payments. It is imperative that these types of loans are paid on time. It s even better to do so prior to the day they ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 14. Similarities Between Dracula And Modern Day Society Are there still connections between Bram Stokers famous novel Dracula and modern day society? In Dracula, Stoker expands on many themes that indeed exist today. Not only does he touch on the most obvious theme, sex. He expands on gender division and good versus evil. Some say since times have changed the themes I introduced have changed as well, leaving connections between then and now irrelevant. However, I feel that although times have changed they still have roots from the time of the novel to now. In this essay I will expand on the themes of this novel while connecting them to modern day society, the critical texts I have chosen and will mention later on in the essay are a good representation of the commonalities between the chill, dark Victorian days in which the era that Dracula was written in and modern day. Why does Bram Stoker and many authors alike make vampires out to be voluptuous and sexy? Is it because it brings light to our darkest desires? Not in the sense that we desire to feed on another humans blood. But in more of a dark and sinful kind of way. In society back then and now, sex is still kind of weird to talk and be open about. Although, sex is more accepted nowadays it is still something you usually do not discuss. So I believe what drew a large crowd in for Dracula was the fact that it went against the norms of society. For example, the Jonathan Harker describes the encounter with the three sisters as ecstasy (Stoker 42). He said that they had ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Security Council Resolution 827 established an international tribunal charged with prosecuting violations of international law arising from the armed conflicts in the former Yugoslavia. Not since the Nuremberg and Tokyo trials, following World War II has an international court tried individuals accused of crimes against humanity, war crimes, and genocide. The International Tribunal for the Former Yugoslavia (ICTFY), which was established at The Hague, Netherlands, is widely seen as an important step toward the deterrence of crimes, the establishment of the firm rule of international law, and the promotion of world peace. Yet, from its inception, the tribunal ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In eastern Bosnia, these atrocities were war crimes that breached the Geneva Conventions and other international laws governing conflicts between nations. They were also breaches of international humanitarian law, as formulated at Nuremberg and elsewhere. When these tactics were employed by Bosnian Serb forces as part of the program of so called ethnic cleansing directed against Bosnian Muslims and other non Serbs, they also constituted genocide. The Genocide Convention is specifically designed to cover crimes against groups, as opposed to crimes against humanity which do not necessarily involve offenses against or persecutions of groups. But the Convention also limits the crime of genocide to actions occurring between states. Under the tribunal s mandate, however, ethnic persecution is treated as an international crime even if it has occurred within a single state. This is a considerable expansion of international law, yet, through it, ICTFY exemplifies a new understanding of accountability that makes heinous and systematic rights violations an international matter. The thinking behind this change in the interpretation of international humanitarian law is based on the easily observed fact that victims of ethnic persecution are citizens who have been rendered aliens within their own homeland, and their status, ... Taking a Look at Blood, Sweat and Tears No late 60s American group ever started with as much musical promise as Blood, Sweat Tears, or realized their potential more fully and then blew it all in a series of internal conflicts and grotesque career moves. It could almost sound funny, talking about a group that sold close to six million records in three years and then squandered all of that momentum. They fused a rock roll rhythm section to a horn section, held out the promise of a jazz rock fusion that could storm the pop charts. The band was organized in New York in 1967. Al Kooper (born February 5, 1944, NY). He was an ex member of the Blues Project, in need of money and a fresh start in music. I like mine fully addicted and ready to waste their life away. It s the best religion that I must say so myself. In fact, I like that, people rely on something like religion to lead them in the way they want to live their life. I personally believe in the smokies. The smokinese are a group of people that worship nicotine. Id honestly love to be a part of that. I mean, I love the smell of it in the air, the feeling of polluted air. Nothing gets better than that. In reality smoking is the only relief to take away pain these days. I mean, what other reason would people put something so horrible into their body if it didn t relieve any type of stress or good feeling. I live for the day to see everyone to have lung cancer and killing themselves for just being vulnerable about stress relief. I mean, people preach smoking nowadays. People wanna go back to the way of smoking in a restaurant and people recommend it, it s a religion that s being created without anyone understanding. When a multinational company has difficulty raising equity capital, due to the lack of adequate private risk capital in a foreign country, the company may explore the possibility of selling partial ownership to the International Finance Corporation (IFC). The IFC is a subsidiary of the World Bank that also provides debt capital and equity capital to qualified companies (Basic facts about IFC, 2005, p1). These alternative sources of financing may significantly differ with respect to cost, terms, and conditions. Therefore, management must carefully locate and use the proper means to finance international business operations. Due to the fact that more firms are becoming multinational, it is expected that the GFS will gain importance over the next decade. Expanding operations to foreign countries has become the goal for many U.S. companies. In addition, the above mentioned financial institutions will play a big role in the decision making if operations can expand abroad or not. Considering that the services the GFS provides encompass a wide array of services, it is likely that the magnitude of this industry will increase proportionately with the speed of globalization. Globalization will be the driving force for the GFS. As our world becomes more interrelated, global financial institutions will become helping guides to companies who want to become multinational. Elle s address revolves around the source of passion and faith in one s self in order to achieve one s goals. Her thesis, although not clearly stated, is undoubtedly visible in her words surrounding passion. She repeats the words passion and faith throughout her last dialog, and projects her voice on the phrase, ...passion is a key ingredient... All through the movie, Elle s faith in herself and the passion to succeed is evident when she completes the goals she has set. This provides the audience the message that one can get by in life with everyday decisions, but one with passion and drive can achieve the things one desires to accomplish. Elle uses her past three years at Harvard to provide evidence that without a passion for law, her goal would still remain unattainable. In summary, Elle rejoices with her fellow peers by presenting the final words of their graduation. This type of transport uses energy to transport things to point A to point B. Active transport usually happen around the cell membrane, also there are thousands of proteins contained in the cell lipid layer. These proteins does most of the work in the transporting system. They are placed across the membrane so one part is inside of the cell while another is on the outside. Only when they cross the bilayer they will be able to move molecules in and out of the cell. It is used to describe the emotions and sentiments of the various characters in relation to other characters. On the surface, love is perceived as something beautiful and amazing but this does not cover the complex layers that it contains. However, Catherine refuses to marry Heathcliff despite the emotional and spiritual bond they share because marrying him would be beneath her. The sense of love between the two is so deep that for them not to be wed creates a confusion surrounding their meaning of love.
