Challenging Gender Expectations On Pat Barker s...
Challenging Gender Expectations in Pat Barker s Regeneration
Siegfried Sassoon and Sarah Lumb in Pat Barker s Regeneration (1991) exemplify the bravery of
those fighting against gender norms during the First World War. Sassoon proves his bravery by writing
to protest the war to his military superiors and the broader public. Sarah courageously goes against her
society s and her mother s gender norms by taking on a more masculine role. Sarah is sexually
independent in her relationship with Billy Prior by behaving as an equal as opposed to playing the
passive feminine role. She does not wait for her mother s approval of Prior, and is eager to enjoy the
independence women s war work offers. Sarah worked at a munition factory being paid for manual
labor. She is not intimidated by those trying to control her, but instead courageously takes on a more
masculine role. Sassoon also challenges gender expectations by writing about the emotional traumas
of war, as well as by discreetly exploring his own sexuality, opening himself up to criticisms of
feminine weakness. Though his unconventional acts led to accusations of mental illness, Sassoon
courageously refuses the opportunity to retain his reputation for a more conventional masculinity and
openly demonstrates his weakness and emotions to the public. Though Sassoon and Sarah are
seemingly safe at home and even oppose the war, they both demonstrate a new kind of bravery by
resisting gender norms in the face of social opposition in

Iago as Evil in William Shakespeare s Othello Essay
Iago as Evil in William Shakespeare s Othello
Othello is famously regarded as one of Shakespeare s greatest tragedies. It explores the downfall of a
great general Othello through a series of unlucky circumstances. Othello s character shows a man of
high status whose job, marriage and life is ruined because of his insecurities by a man named Iago.
Iago (Othello s ensign) is able to manipulate Othello, Othello s wife Desdemona and his own friend
Roderigo (a Venetian gentleman). He uses Desdemona s love of Othello and Roderigo s money with
his secret love for Desdemona, to manipulate them towards his own good. He is a psychotic driven to
kill, from strangers on a battlefield to his wife in Othello s ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Roderigo argues that he deserves to take Desdemona s hand in marriage. His secret love for her drives
him crazy inside at every sight he sees her and Othello together. During this Othello is described as an
old black ram, Even now, now, very now, an old black ram . Iago thinks that Othello is too old and that
he will not be around with his job for long. The play would have opened up with this conversation in
the dark. It goes with the low yet angry dark toned language that Iago uses, Rouse him, make after
him, poison his delight also In personal suit to make me his lieutenant; off capped to him . He is
irritated after not getting the position in the army. While this was all going on Othello and Desdemona
were secretly getting married. Roderigo and Iago hear of this news and go straight to Brabantio,
Desdemona s father, to wake him and tell him of his daughter s whereabouts. The swearing and
shouting by Iago and Roderigo towards Brabantio, would catch the attention of the audience. They
would be eager to understand what is going on. There were no special effects so listening carefully to
the characters was the only way you would understand what was happening. This made it a good idea
to open the play during the night. So you in the audience would get the feel of whispers, people
sneaking around etc. They did not have good costumes

Genetically Modified Food Aid From The United States Essay
Recently, delegates of famine stricken Southern African nations and representatives from the United
States and the European Union came together to resolve issues regarding the acceptance of
Genetically modified Food aid from the United States of America. Concerns and complications
stemmed from humanitarian, economical, social and political grounds. I am King Letsie III and I led
the Lesotho delegation at the conference. I have studied agricultural economics at the University of
London and Developmental studies at the University of Cambridge. With an approach that
amalgamates my knowledge of agronomics with my aims of humanitarian well being, I have tried to
adopt diverse perspectives in analysing the situation. This report elaborates on the final decision I
made at the end of the conference and explains the reasons and circumstances that led to it. The
decision was made in the best interest of Lesotho and its people and it strives to alleviate both
monetary and nutritional issues. Currently, Lesotho is in a state of emergency. A report by the
American Red Cross describes the situation as a Complex Emergency (Kriner, 2002, p. 1). Lesotho
has been experiencing complex vulnerabilities due to heavy rainfall, frost, hailstorms, tornadoes, poor
economic conditions, deteriorating health standards, high rates of unemployment and political
imbalance. After elaborate debates and extensive deliberations about genetically modified organisms
at the conference, Lesotho s final

The Witch Craze Of The Sixteenth And Seventeenth Centuries
Gender, race, age, and ability have been used to shape the history and our understanding of human
sexuality, as well as how certain groups, specifically marginalized groups, were seen as degenerate or
delinquent people. When examining why and how specific groups of people were though of as being
sexual delinquents, it is important to use an intersectional lens, and consider how these different
categories and identities of gender, race, age, and ability work together to form experiences and
opinions. By marginalizing, controlling, and regulating the sexualities and bodies of those who were
women, people of colour, adolescents, or differentially abled, the social norm of a white, heterosexual,
patriarchy has been enforced through history. Throughout the history of humankind, women s bodies
and sexuality have been critiqued, chastised, and judged by society. During the witch craze of the
sixteenth and seventeenth centuries, many women were accused of being evil beings. Over 60,000
women were wrongfully executed by their accusers . It was believed that woman who were midwives,
challenged male authority, or were sexually promiscuous and given themselves to Satin and were now
evil and immoral beings. The more feminine senses, touch, smell, and taste were often associated with
being a witch . By accusing women who were sexual agents or who were associated with women s
bodies or sexuality (such as midwives) of being evil and executing them, men were able to use gender

Who Is Chris Mccandless In Into The Wild
Spiritually connecting with oneself is a difficult and honorable journey. The complexities of achieving
our purpose in life can be a daunting but awarding task. Christopher McCandless succeeded at this.
Christopher McCandless in Into The Wild by Jon Krakauer proved that he was searching for his
purpose in life, which manifested into his hypocritical and ignorant attitude. First of all, Christopher
McCandless exploited his ignorance when blaming his parents during his journey, even though Chris
resembled their tactics. Chris s justification for his venture into the wild was because of his parents
nature, Both Father and Son were stubborn and high strung... Given Walt s need to exert control (64).
This didactic diction is meant to support
Chris s ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This natural ability should have been a blessing, but McCandless grew up shaming these materialistic
values. To certain extent, Chris is correct, but his disrespect for authority was unexcusable. For
example, when working at Mcdonalds an employee said, ...the first thing he d do is peel those socks
off...kind of like a statement (400). Not only is
McCandless joining the capitalist society (that he loathed) but he is also disrespectful to the managers
of an establishment. McCandless disregard for authority exposes his ignorance and inability to operate
with others. Another instance in which McCandless was hypocritical is when he claims a revelation in
his journal, HAPPINESS ONLY REAL WHEN SHARED (189).
Throughout the whole book McCandless keeps people at a distance (Westerberg, Franz, Burres), but
only comes to appreciate others when he s at a state of imminent death. Only at a critical time of his
journey could he discover his reason for venturing off into the wild. This reverent realization evokes
sympathy from the audience about McCandless death, but should rather expose his hypocritical
nature.
Only few people in their lives will reach a level of self actualization.

Panama Canal Thesis Statement
Thesis Statement
There is no doubt that the building of the Panama Canal was a major feat in history that has made a
huge impact on the way many countries trade with each other. It was a great struggle to complete but
it also was very rewarding.
The Land Area
The Isthmus of Panama is about 50 miles wide at its narrowest point. The land was thick with jungle,
deep swamp, and mountains. What the surveyors did not realize is that the geology behind the land
made it much harder to build the canal than in other places around the world. The surrounding
mountain range was formed differently than most mountain ranges, commonly formed by folding due
to lateral pressure. These mountains were formed by individual volcanic actions. Formations ... Show

In 1876, French Navy Lieutenant Lucien N. B. Wyse, a grandson of Lucien Bonaparte, was sent to
explore locations and different possibilities for the canal. He returned home in April 1877 and showed
De Lesseps the construction plans. De Lesseps rejected all of the plans because they required tunnels
and locks to be built. De Lesseps prefered to build a sea level canal like the Suez Canal. Wyse went
back to the isthmus on December 6, 1877. He explored two routes in Panama, one through Nicaragua
and one through Panama. In the end he chose the Panamanian route, which would be sea level. The
route would follow the Panama Railroad and require a 7,720 meter long tunnel through the
Continental Divide at Culebra. He traveled to Bogota and the Colombian government signed a treaty
on March 20th, 1878 that granted rights to build the canal through Panama, then part of Colombia.
The treaty promised Colombia ownership of the canal after 99 years. It was estimated to take six years
and $240 million. The digging started the first day of 1880
By March 1883, construction was behind schedule and 660,000 out the promised 5,000,000 cubic
meters have been excavated. After visiting Panama in 1886, De Lesseps claims construction will be
done by July 1889. Later that year, only a few feet out of hundreds have been removed from the
Culebra Cut. De Lesseps hired

The University 12 Miles Away
My college education began not at the institution about which I am writing, but rather another
university 12 miles away. For two years, I attended Maryville University in St. Louis with a triple
major in English, psychology, and sociology. Maryville University s campus was small with just three
small academic buildings on campus. As I progressed from my freshman to my sophomore year, I
realized I had outgrown the small campus that had once felt comfortable. With only one key faculty
member in each of my major departments, the classes had become predictable. When the spring of my
sophomore year arrived, I decided to transfer to Webster University where I could learn from a larger
faculty with varied points of view. Although I did not spend all four years of my undergraduate career
at Webster University, I have great affection for it. The campus was a mix of recently constructed
academic buildings and repurposed historical homes in the St. Louis suburb of Webster Groves,
including the English department s home: Pearson House. The amalgamation of buildings added a
sense of both the past and the future to the university s campus; however, as a student, I was unaware
of the history behind the campus I grew to love. Coincidentally, Webster University is celebrating its
centennial this academic year.

Gypsies in the Czech Republic Essay
Gypsies in the Czech Republic
The Gypsies of the former Czechoslovakia have suffered ethnic marginalization dating back to their
arrival in Eastern Europe over 700 years ago. The collapse of communism in Czechoslovakia, and
other Eastern Europe countries created the necessary conditions for the ethnic mobilization of the
Gypsies and other minorities. During communism minorities presence in Eastern Europe was not
officially recognized. The transition from the socialist system to democracy gave the Gypsies of
Czechoslovakia a chance to participate in the political process, to represent their interests and end
their ethnic marginilization. Though, due to historical circumstances dating back before communism
this has been a tough task ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The gypsies led a nomadic lifestyle traveling from place to place never establishing an area of
permanent residence. They made a living by telling fortunes, begging, horse trading, and thieving.
Their nomadic life style was conducive to their activities because the Gypsies never established ties to
the community and were gone before they had arrived. As the Gypsies continued to travel they soon
began to develop a bad reputation that preceded their arrival in new areas. As the Gypsies arrived in
the Czech areas within the Holy Roman Empire they were regarded as an undesirable element in
society. Over the next few hundred years the Gypsies were persecuted and efforts were made to
destroy the Gypsy culture in the area of former Czechoslovakia. In the seventeenth century, many
Gypsies were hanged from trees along the border to discourage others from entering the country
(Crowe and Kolsti 94). Persecution of the Gypsies ended in the eighteenth century ended when the
rulers of the Hapsburg Empire tried to integrate them into the peasantry and make them a positive
aspect of society. They were forced to abandon their nomadic lifestyle and many of their horses were
shot. The Gypsies were not allowed to speak their native tongue, which is Romani, and their children
were instructed in the Christian religion. While many of these policies worked they were not regularly
enforced and the

Physical Geography Power Of Place
Physical geography has a significant impact on the development of countries; hence the title, The
Power of Place. Countries on the coast tend to do better than landlocked countries because they have
more trade opportunities. Landlocked countries usually trade with their neighbors, but if their
neighbors are also struggling economically, then both countries suffer from seclusion. However,
sometimes the landlocked countries have well off neighbors which makes them more likely to do well.
For example, Switzerland s neighbors, France and Italy, happen to be near water, so Switzerland isn t
as negatively affected from being landlocked. Diversity is more commonly found in larger countries.

Each of these groups impacts the world in their own way. Globals are wealthy people who are
generally found in the core countries. Although globals are only a small percentage of the population,
they tend to be the most successful and often spread their ideas throughout the world. Globals flatten
the world and control the fates of the locals and mobals (de Blij 7). In the 1950s, de Blij witnessed
how the global Europeans interfered in South Africa, resulting in many locals becoming mobals or
globals. Locals live in the same place their whole life and carry on traditions from hundreds of years
ago. An example of a local community are the farmers in China who still produce rice like their
ancestors did a long time ago. Locals are typically found in the global periphery, and they usually have
a rougher life than the globals do. Somewhere in between the two distinct groups are the mobals.
Mobals tend to be locals that migrate to the core countries in hopes of a better life. For example, the
US has a very high immigration rate because of its many freedoms and education and job

The Impact of Outsourcing on the U.S. Economy Essay
It is difficult to determine whether offshore outsourcing has a positive or negative effect on the U.S.
economy. It may actually depend on which perspective you take on it. As stated by Hira and Hira
(2005), outsourcing in the services sector is a major shift in how the economy operates and will have
serious impacts, both positive and negative, on the trajectory of economic growth, distribution of
income and the workforce. However, there are many factors to take into account when considering
globalization. Companies must familiarize themselves with the various rules and regulations of global
business, tariffs, trade agreements and barriers, and decide how to go global; global consistency or
local adaptation. All of these issues affect ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Furthermore, the U.S. economy may also benefit if companies reinvest the extra profits gained from
outsourcing for expansion in the U.S. This creates more jobs at home, but again, this is a long term
effect of outsourcing and depends on how successful that business is overseas. Exporting presents
many advantages including reduced dependency on home market sales and greater control over
research, design and production decisions. Conversely, many exported goods are subject to tariff or
nontariff barriers and transportation costs that may substantially increase the final cost to consumers
(Williams, 2009.) Some companies stand to benefit from exporting. Large U.S. based organizations
are strongly in favor of their companies free ability to export U.S. jobs and have no interest in taking
responsibility for the consequences to their employees. Basically, this means that the CEOs,
executives and shareholders support offshore outsourcing because they stand to gain from rising
profits and stock prices while employees here at home are losing their jobs to free trade and
offshoring. The U.S. is in a period of transition in which many companies have just discovered the
benefits of outsourcing, so they are anxiously scrambling to substitute cheaper foreign labor for
American labor. The direct transfer of work overseas is growing much faster than the

The Four Sources Of Moral Irrationality
When we think about moral obligations and their directional structure, this involves the obligations
that we have to other people. Obligations are owed to the benefactor (Timmons, 2015). This means
that a person is obligated to someone who tries to help another person in some way, shape or form. So,
let s say for example I promise you to walk your dog. Since I have promised you this I am not
fulfilling my promise because I told you I d walk your dog, or because I want to keep my promises to
you, but I fulfill my promise of walking your dog because you have the right to me walking your dog.
As we learned in our reading, you now own my action. You have the right to be angry or upset at me if
I fail to perform the act of walking your dog. You are able to demand me to perform that action. I
think the directionality has more to do with the relationship that is developed as a result of your
promising rather than how good the person you promised feels after you have performed the action.
Korsgaard says that humans naturally have the instinct to do what is right and not do what is wrong.
She goes on to explain the four conceptions for the sources of normativity of morality. I d like to go
over voluntarism and see how or if it aligns with moral obligation being directional in structure. The
first part discussed, is the that obligations derive from God. God is the relevant authority. It s saying, I
must act because God commands me to act. God, I believe, does not have anything

Effects Of The Progressive Era
Many social movements throughout the nineteenth and twentieth centuries shaped the Progressive Era.
Towards the late nineteenth century and early twentieth century the economy was thriving.
Industrialization was blooming with new achievements that were being brought to America. However,
many problems were also brought. The Progressive Era tackled these problems. The Progressive Era
made an immense change on America s economy and society. This Era was a time of extreme change.
Major changes were made in the economic and political levels during the time of this era. Many of the
problems were problems of the urbanization and industrialization periods. The Progressive Era had
many successes and many failures, however, the successes overshadow the failures. The progressive
era was a response to the problems that were caused by the movements after the Civil War, problems
of the nineteenth and twentieth centuries, the era was successful in addressing problems such as public
education, the Gilded Age, and living conditions. Before the Progressive Era, during the late
nineteenth and twentieth centuries education was for necessary for everyone nor was it a necessity.
Before this era going to school was not the norm, especially for women. Women usually only attended
elementary school, since they only need basic literacy skills for the time. Whereas men usually
finished middle school and some even men went high school and some perhaps went on to college.

Artificial Insemination and the Rights of Women, Men, and...
Women have adamantly battled for political and social reproductive rights since, in particular artificial
insemination, have become mainstream phenomena in the recent decade with a focus on rights of
women. In fact, doctors have experimented with the procedure for nearly a century. However, with the
women¹s liberation movement of the 1970s, physician assisted and self insemination has become more
and more popular among heterosexual career women and lesbians.

Women, usually healthy and fertile, enlist the help of physicians because they do not have access to
the one element that will yield them a child. And so, doctors prescribe a cure of sorts sperm. The
procedure allows women increased power to regulate the reproductive processes of their bodies.
Ironically, artificial insemination was not created as a method of empowerment for women. Rather for
men. Male scientists and researchers developed the technology for eugenic purposes, not to alleviate
the pressures of alternative lifestyles of women. That is, to improve the human species.
With the onset of research in genetics in the beginning of the twentieth century, scientists entertained
theories of quality control with respect to human reproduction. Scientists such as Francis Crick and
Dr. William Shockley believed that the growth rate of the population was increasing too rapidly, and
most importantly certain unfavorable demographic clusters were increasing. In short, the wrong
classes and races were reproducing with more frequency than was desired by these men. They hoped
that future progeny would be of the same superior caliber as themselves. To yield this, they proposed
schemes to tax children; to provide cash incentives for sterilization; to license women for the number
of children they may bear and men for the sperm they may deposit in seed banks;

Analysis Of The Passage By Dalton Trumbo
¨Parents act so strong for us, that we often forget just how fragile they are.¨ As we grow we often find
ourselves not spending as much of our free time with our parents as we had when we could barely
speak a sentence without having bad grammar. This maturing state is something all of us experience.
We become more interactive with sports, friends, relationships, and we forget who gave us this
wonderful life. In the following stories of ¨ The Passage¨, ¨Through the Tunnel¨ , and ¨American
History¨ the author utilizes dialogue to indicate the disconnection from their parents in the journey to
adulthood.
In the story The Passage By Dalton Trumbo, the author portrays coming of age and the beginning of a
new chapter in life through the dialogue between the protagonist, Joe, and his father. The bond
between Joe and his father is exhibited as very stable and happy. Their bond displays the attachment
every adolescent acquires with their parents; as we learn almost everything basic to life from our
parents. This short story suggests that at one period in time we start to grow out of adolescence into
young adults and begin to detach from our forever known guardians and heroes. We begin to mature
and become more distracted with friends, school, sports, etc.. Joe, in this short story, depicts this
detachment from our parents as we grow for example in paragraph two: Now he was 15 and Bill
Harper was going to come tomorrow... Tomorrow for the first time in all their trips

L-Dopa Research Paper
Everyone wants to stop the process of aging and man has been in search of a product that will help
him. A few years ago, researchers found that aging occurs due to the reduction in production of the
Human Growth Hormone in the body. As the body ages, the pituitary glands, responsible for the
production of HGH, do not produce sufficient quantity of the hormone causing the many signs of
aging to appear.
Sytropin is one of the many products that are known as HGH releasers. These releasers work to boost
the production of HGH in the body thereby resulting in a younger you. Though there will not be any
miraculous transformations overnight, you can slow down the aging process with patience and
perseverance. It works by enhancing the decreasing levels of Human growth hormone.

The Death Of Lady Macbeth
We begin with one of Shakespeare s most beloved and tragic plays, Macbeth. Set in 11th century
Scotland there is more than one logical way to interpret the signs, symbols and themes of this
intriguing story. There is more than one mystery and obscurity in this play that seems to be left open to
the interpretation and imagination of the reader. One compelling occasion in particular is that of the
death and supposed suicide of Lady Macbeth. Many critics, readers and other interpreters have
discussed the subject from either side. Some believe that there is evidence to support that the cause of
Lady Macbeth s death was suicide. Although some suspect otherwise and argue for the fact that her
death was caused by ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Nothing in the text is tied with sentiments of melancholy or despair. At this point Malcom s forces are
not yet gathered and she has no reason to fear losing her crown or anything else for that matter. Then
was it just guilt that caused her to sleep walk? Come, you spirits that tend on mortal thoughts, unsex
me here, and fill me from the crown to the toe top full of direst cruelty. Make thick my blood. We
observe here that she is summoning spirits of villainy and sin, to give her the capabilities and strength
to commit cruel and wicked acts. Equally she has demanded that she would be cruelty itself. Likewise,
she has more or less disposed of her soul to the evil one. All the devil yearns for is your soul, and with
Lady Macbeth sleep walking with cubibility and dread through the house, it seems quite likely that
this could be the devil working through her. Then the subject of possession comes to mind, although
whether she was possessed or not is another topic entirely. Therefore it was not her guilt and
hypothetical depression, that led her to suicide. Uniquely as seen throughout the story that Lady
Macbeth was a very strong willed and persistent woman, but despite all of this she still displayed
inidcations of weakness in certain areas of her character. First of all we may take make note that right
before Ducun s murder, Lady Macbeth has prepared or sets ready the daggers for her husband to do

Characteristics Of Early Warning Of Equipment Chain Gas...
3.1. Characteristics of early warning of equipment chain in gas pipeline
3.1.1 Characteristics of early warning problem
(1) Time sequence
Early warning is the process that warning system addresses alarm information to managers in time
before emergency [15, 16]. It is indistinguishable and unexplainable to deal with early warning signals
and complex questions for most methods. Not only does accidents evolvement rely on current
condition, but also on regular historical changes in conditions, because accidents develop in
chronological order.
(2) Uncertainty
The monitoring ability is limited due to the limited number of monitoring points on site, which the
accident phenomenon cannot be detected directly but only express fault message by means of an
indirect way. Therefore, the same accident phenomenon may correspond to a number of different
implied reasons, resulting in failure to judge the inherent cause of problem directly. It is the
uncertainty problem in early warning system.
(3) Hierarchy
Hierarchy is a vital characteristic of early warning problem in industrial system. The status of entire
system is reflected on all low level status. In early warning system, it can be divided into multi levels
from low to high, such as monitoring status, equipment status, functional status of subsystem and
system status. In natural gas pipeline system, managers learn what happened on equipment chain by
status of monitoring points as essential data, covering production status and operating

Essay on Themes in Song Of Solomon
Toni Morrison is one of the most talented and successful African American authors of our time.
Famous for works such as The Bluest Eye, Sula, and Beloved, Morrison has cultivated large audiences
of all ethnicities and social classes with her creative style of writing. It is not Morrison s talent of
creating new stories that attracts her fans. In contrast, it is her talent of revising and modernizing
traditional Biblical and mythological stories that have been present in literature for centuries.
Morrison replaces the characters in these myths, whom would have been white, middle class males,
with characters who depict the cultural practices in black communities. The protagonists in Morrison s
works are primarily African American women ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
He experiences the pain felt in Black communities after 14 year old Emmett Till, from Chicago,
Illinois, was murdered in Mississippi for whistling at a white woman and many other violent cases
after, including the bombing of a Black church in Alabama that killed four young girls. Toni Morrison
is an author that is interested in showing the world the constant struggle of African American men and
women. Like Milkman, Morrison was born in 1931 during the height of racism in the United States.
She has lived through the same events as Milkman and has experienced the pain and turmoil forced
upon African Americans. Like Milkman, Morrison was also unaware of the racial tension in the
country until she was a teenager. She graduated from high school with honors and attended Howard
University as an English major. This explains Morrison s interest in the theme of Flight in her works.
She has been determined to be successful since she was a child, despite the racism and poverty she
had experienced. Morrison is a strong, independent, successful, and talented woman. She focuses on
the theme of feminism in her works to show both men and women of all races and ethnicities that
women can be just as powerful as men. She has integrated pieces of her life into the novel, almost
creating a mini biography. Constant themes occurring in Toni Morrison s Song Of Solomon are
Marxism, Feminism, and flight. Marxism is a major theme in Toni Morrison s Song Of Solomon.

While Fefu identifies herself with male view of women, Julia sees her sexuality as a source of evil.
She believes that women are sexual spirits that is why they do not enjoy sexuality, but men are not

Mitochondrial Pathway Of Mitochondrial And Mitochondrial...
1.2.2. Mitochondrial pathway
The mitochondrial pathway, also called intrinsic pathway, because it is initiated from inside the cell.
Various stimuli such as growth factors withdrawal, DNA damage, hypoxia, and oxidative stress can
induce apoptosis through this cascade. These insults cause increasing permeability of the outer
mitochondrial membrane and opening of the mitochondrial permeability transition (MPT) pore which
is controlled by members of the Bcl 2 family proteins. This large family of proteins is defined by the
presence of conserved Bcl 2 homology domains (BH1 to BH4). Up to 30 Bcl 2 family genes have
been identified in mammals, which have either pro apoptotic or anti apoptotic functions. Some of the
anti apoptotic members include Bcl 2 itself, Bcl XL, Bcl w, BAG and Mcl 1 which possess all
domains of BH1 to BH4. The pro apoptotic family proteins can be divided into two subgroups:
consists of Bak, Bax, and Bok with possess BH1 to BH3 domains, and Bad, Bid, Bik, BNIP3, Bim,
Bmf, Blk, Hrk, Noxa, Puma, and Spike) that only possesses BH3 domain [Cory, 2002; Mund, 2003].
It is believe that BH3 only proteins interfere with the fine tuned balance of homo or hetero
oligomerization between pro apoptotic multidomains (eg., Bax/Bak) and anti apoptotic members (eg.,
Bcl 2/Bcl XL) (Figure 3). In general, oligomers of Bak, Bax, and Bok induce PMT, either by forming
channels by themselves or by interacting with components of the PMT [Antonsson, 2000]. Bad can

One of the Primary movements preformed while playing indoor volley ball is jumping to block a spike
from the opposition. Blocking consists of two main actions, primarily a vertical jump to place yourself
in the path of the volleyball and secondary raising your arms above your head in order to block a
larger area of space.
Bones are essential to all movement of the human body as they are what is moved during muscle
contractions, but can also limit our range of motion. During the primary vertical jump flexion and

Many technical issues in volleyball stem from bad balance. Before you perform a jump serve you
must first adopt a stance with one foot in fortune of the other which increases your base of support. In
doing this you ensure that you are in complete control of your body and the ball will go exactly where
you want it.
After a good starting position has been obtained it is the action is made easier and more effective. A
good throw is performed by throwing the ball high and in a liner line straight up into the air using your
non hitting hand. While the ball falls an athlete will take a step forward and place their weight on their
front foot before jumping to hit the ball. In moving your weight to your front foot you move your
centre of gravity forward as well which helps to build momentum towards the ball and to exert more
force on the ball thus making it travel faster making it harder for the opponent to

A Study On Strength Training Essay
Introduction In strength training, the squat is a compound, full body exercise that trains primarily the
muscles of the thighs, hips and gluteus, quads (vastus lateralus, medialis and intermedius and rectus
femoris), hamstrings, as well as strengthening the bones, ligaments and insertion of the tendons
throughout the lower body. Squats are considered a vital exercise for increasing the strength and size
of the legs and buttocks, as well as developing core. The lower back, the upper back, the abdominals,
the trunk muscles and the shoulders and arms are all essential to the exercise. Up until the 1950s, the
squat was not a mainstream lift. Weightlifters used the split to lift weights, where one leg is placed
stretched out behind and the other bent in front. The upper body was seen as more important for a long
time. However, soon the squat became recognised as the great physical conditioner it really is,
working every muscle in the body. The squat is one of the power three in competitive powerlifting
along with the bench press and deadlift. Different squats include, front squat, back squat, goblet squat

He was definitely the first to make a huge advance in the development of the steam engine. There is
actually a Newcomen Engine still around today. (Robert H. Thurston) It resides at the Henry Ford
Museum in Dearborn, Michigan. The engine was originally used to pump water from a mine with an
over all power of about fifteen horsepower in 1760. However, neither Savery nor Newcomen had any
grander purpose in mind for their machines.
This all changed in 1763, when James Watt, a Scottish engineer, set out to improve upon Newcomen s
design. The Newcomen design was unfortunately overshadowed by the well known James Watt.
Beginning in 1765, Watt was labeled the inventor of the steam engine. James Watt was born on
January 19, 1736, in Greenock, Scotland. He worked as a mathematical instrument maker from the
age of 19 and soon became interested in improving the steam engines. Around 1769, he was assigned
the task of repairing a Newcomen engine that was deemed inefficient. The Newcomen engine
however was the best engine available at the time. Watt eventually added a separate condenser to
Newcomen s engine. This caused the steam to condense in a separate vessel instead of within the
cylinder itself. This conserved heat energy that had been lost due to alternately heating and cooling the
cylinder. Watt s addition saved almost %75 of the fuel that had previously been used by the engine.

Analysis Of The Film Antwone Fisher
Good Morning Gentleman and Ladies I appreciate the DA giving me an opportunity to speak to you. I

overview of the research concerning false memories and how such findings could apply to this
particular case. I will then outline some situations that are known to increase the likelihood of false
memories and end with strategies that may reduce the occurrence of false memories
By way of introduction and if you will indulge my brief nod to Hollywood this is often how the issue
of memory is portrayed by popular media. In the 2002 film, Antwone Fisher, Denzel Washington plays
a military psychologist who is tasked with evaluating the mental health of recently demoted seaman,
Antwone Fisher. As the film goes on Denzel Washington discovers (along with the rest of us)
Antwone Fisher s highly traumatized past. Through the cinematic use of multiple flashback scenes
Antwone is gradually brought back to the scene of the crime seemingly remembering such details as
the overall abuse in addition to the exact placement of holes in the wall or buckets on the floor or shirt
he was wearing. In other words, the flashback scenes depict a kind of grand narrative of absolute truth
that we, as viewers don t question. Antwone Fisher simply needed a nudge by a safe, albeit stern father
figure in order to remember it all.
Additionally the film is bookended by a dream sequence of a young

The Impact Of The Tulsa Race Riot On The Greenwood District
How did the Tulsa Race Riot of 1921 impact the Greenwood District
The Tulsa Race Riot impacted so many people and all it gets is a paragraph or one page in an
Oklahoma history textbook. This event put Tulsa on the map and it barely gets any recognition. How
are people supposed to change the world if information is constantly hidden? The riot didn t
completely leave a negative impact. Don t be fooled, it was terrible and extremely destructive, but
some good came out of it. For example, in my case I swell with pride when I hear about how
successful and booming the black community was in Tulsa. It makes me appreciate my hometown and
what it has to offer. The Tulsa Race Riot of 1921 impacted the Greenwood District by creating more
roots in Tulsa, destroying the lives and homes of families, and hiding the significance of Greenwood
and how prosperous it was.
Where does someone get their views, traditions, and fears from if they don t identify with a culture?
There is literally a culture for everything. There s a millennial culture, gaming culture, food culture,
etc. you name it! Culture itself is the arts and other manifestations of human intellectual achievement
regarded collectively. Whether one knows it or not, they identify with something. In the book Tulsa s

on trade and merchant activity was far more than in China, and also greater in the classical
Mediterranean world. During the Maurya rule, India expanded their trade between the main centers of
civilization Eurasia and Africa. Some products produced at one end of the system, such as Chinese
silks and porcelains, were carried the whole length of the trading networks to be sold at the other end
of the routes, in Rome. As a result, China and India both had to work together and figure out a way to

Social classifications and expectations between classical china and classical India were very similar to

is when a citizen is organized into a special group that determined everything from their job, to their
political rights, to their religious beliefs, and who they would marry.

In this paper, I am going to elucidate on the significance of the concepts of forgiveness and
forgetfulness in Hannah Arendt and Friedrich Nietzsche s conceptualization of human action and
agency.
Remedial Action: Forgiveness and Promise
Hannah Arendt in her book, The Human Condition, delineates the three fundamental human activities
that set up the Vita Activa: Labour, Work and Action. Arendt constitutes them to be fundamental
because each of these corresponds to one of the basic conditions under which life on earth has been
given to man . (Arendt, 1958:7). Arendt s conceptualizes labour as the Sisyphean tasks of our life. It
includes all the necessary and repetitive ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Rather it carries the introjected and incorporated objects from his/her life. Freud develops a
framework for the subject where the Unconscious is in a hyphen with the Other s discourse. In
melancholia, Freud postulates, that the love object is kept alive by being held captive in the inner
world of the subject. The shadow of the object is incorporated, thus splitting the ego into the one
[who] seeks to detach the libido from the object [thus allowing the subject to live and the object to
die], the other to maintain this position of the libido [which is bonded to the immortal internal version
of the object. (Freud, 1917). The subject here is not a foreclosed, substantive I . It is in an infinite wait
with the other. The subject is the other: the affective shadow of the object is the Othered

Montgomery Eating Out
It has been a busy week and you are ready to relax, to have great conversation, and an incredible meal.
There are so many fabulous restaurants in Montgomery, Alabama to choose from, that making a
choice is difficult. The first question you might ask yourself is What am I looking for in a restaurant in
Montgomery, AL ?
Baseball doesn t stand alone when it comes to being a great American pastime... eating is right up
there near the top of the list too. Almost everybody, young, old, and in between, enjoys eating out...
and it is not always just about the food.
Restaurants in Montgomery AL offer a variety of cuisine and each caters to an array of clientele that is
all their own. Dining out can be a very personal experience, one that fulfills a certain expectation for
the individual. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
What type of ambiance appeals to you? Cleanliness, comfort, and decor all say a lot. The unspoken
feeling you experience when you enter the door can be a hands down win or a deal breaker. There is a
lot to be said about first impressions.
Details are part of the package. Is the seating comfortable? Being uncomfortable will not give you the
desire to linger or return. Is the decor what you were expecting, elegant, ethnic, exotic, or appropriate
for the theme of the restaurant? Is the lighting too much or not enough? What about the temperature,
too hot or too cold? Each of the above does affect your dining experience in a positive or negative
way.
Upon entering a restaurant in Montgomery, AL you want it to be clean. Simpler than that... you expect
it to be clean. Are the tables and seats wiped and set before you are seated? Are the floors swept or
vacuumed? Do the servers look tidy and professional? I hope the smells from the kitchen fill the air
with culinary delight and not odors of stale or rotten

  • 2. Challenging Gender Expectations On Pat Barker s... Challenging Gender Expectations in Pat Barker s Regeneration Siegfried Sassoon and Sarah Lumb in Pat Barker s Regeneration (1991) exemplify the bravery of those fighting against gender norms during the First World War. Sassoon proves his bravery by writing to protest the war to his military superiors and the broader public. Sarah courageously goes against her society s and her mother s gender norms by taking on a more masculine role. Sarah is sexually independent in her relationship with Billy Prior by behaving as an equal as opposed to playing the passive feminine role. She does not wait for her mother s approval of Prior, and is eager to enjoy the independence women s war work offers. Sarah worked at a munition factory being paid for manual labor. She is not intimidated by those trying to control her, but instead courageously takes on a more masculine role. Sassoon also challenges gender expectations by writing about the emotional traumas of war, as well as by discreetly exploring his own sexuality, opening himself up to criticisms of feminine weakness. Though his unconventional acts led to accusations of mental illness, Sassoon courageously refuses the opportunity to retain his reputation for a more conventional masculinity and openly demonstrates his weakness and emotions to the public. Though Sassoon and Sarah are seemingly safe at home and even oppose the war, they both demonstrate a new kind of bravery by resisting gender norms in the face of social opposition in ... • 3. Iago as Evil in William Shakespeare s Othello Essay Iago as Evil in William Shakespeare s Othello Othello is famously regarded as one of Shakespeare s greatest tragedies. It explores the downfall of a great general Othello through a series of unlucky circumstances. Othello s character shows a man of high status whose job, marriage and life is ruined because of his insecurities by a man named Iago. Iago (Othello s ensign) is able to manipulate Othello, Othello s wife Desdemona and his own friend Roderigo (a Venetian gentleman). He uses Desdemona s love of Othello and Roderigo s money with his secret love for Desdemona, to manipulate them towards his own good. Roderigo argues that he deserves to take Desdemona s hand in marriage. His secret love for her drives him crazy inside at every sight he sees her and Othello together. During this Othello is described as an old black ram, Even now, now, very now, an old black ram . Iago thinks that Othello is too old and that he will not be around with his job for long. The play would have opened up with this conversation in the dark. It goes with the low yet angry dark toned language that Iago uses, Rouse him, make after him, poison his delight also In personal suit to make me his lieutenant; off capped to him . He is irritated after not getting the position in the army. While this was all going on Othello and Desdemona were secretly getting married. Roderigo and Iago hear of this news and go straight to Brabantio, Desdemona s father, to wake him and tell him of his daughter s whereabouts. The swearing and shouting by Iago and Roderigo towards Brabantio, would catch the attention of the audience. They would be eager to understand what is going on. There were no special effects so listening carefully to the characters was the only way you would understand what was happening. This made it a good idea to open the play during the night. So you in the audience would get the feel of whispers, people sneaking around etc. They did not have good costumes ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Genetically Modified Food Aid From The United States Essay Recently, delegates of famine stricken Southern African nations and representatives from the United States and the European Union came together to resolve issues regarding the acceptance of Genetically modified Food aid from the United States of America. Concerns and complications stemmed from humanitarian, economical, social and political grounds. I am King Letsie III and I led the Lesotho delegation at the conference. I have studied agricultural economics at the University of London and Developmental studies at the University of Cambridge. With an approach that amalgamates my knowledge of agronomics with my aims of humanitarian well being, I have tried to adopt diverse perspectives in analysing the situation. This report elaborates on the final decision I made at the end of the conference and explains the reasons and circumstances that led to it. The decision was made in the best interest of Lesotho and its people and it strives to alleviate both monetary and nutritional issues. Currently, Lesotho is in a state of emergency. A report by the American Red Cross describes the situation as a Complex Emergency (Kriner, 2002, p. 1). Lesotho has been experiencing complex vulnerabilities due to heavy rainfall, frost, hailstorms, tornadoes, poor economic conditions, deteriorating health standards, high rates of unemployment and political imbalance. • 6. The Witch Craze Of The Sixteenth And Seventeenth Centuries Gender, race, age, and ability have been used to shape the history and our understanding of human sexuality, as well as how certain groups, specifically marginalized groups, were seen as degenerate or delinquent people. When examining why and how specific groups of people were though of as being sexual delinquents, it is important to use an intersectional lens, and consider how these different categories and identities of gender, race, age, and ability work together to form experiences and opinions. By marginalizing, controlling, and regulating the sexualities and bodies of those who were women, people of colour, adolescents, or differentially abled, the social norm of a white, heterosexual, patriarchy has been enforced through history. Throughout the history of humankind, women s bodies and sexuality have been critiqued, chastised, and judged by society. During the witch craze of the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries, many women were accused of being evil beings. Over 60,000 women were wrongfully executed by their accusers . It was believed that woman who were midwives, challenged male authority, or were sexually promiscuous and given themselves to Satin and were now evil and immoral beings. The more feminine senses, touch, smell, and taste were often associated with being a witch . • 7. Who Is Chris Mccandless In Into The Wild Spiritually connecting with oneself is a difficult and honorable journey. The complexities of achieving our purpose in life can be a daunting but awarding task. Christopher McCandless succeeded at this. Christopher McCandless in Into The Wild by Jon Krakauer proved that he was searching for his purpose in life, which manifested into his hypocritical and ignorant attitude. First of all, Christopher McCandless exploited his ignorance when blaming his parents during his journey, even though Chris resembled their tactics. Chris s justification for his venture into the wild was because of his parents nature, Both Father and Son were stubborn and high strung... Given Walt s need to exert control (64). This natural ability should have been a blessing, but McCandless grew up shaming these materialistic values. To certain extent, Chris is correct, but his disrespect for authority was unexcusable. For example, when working at Mcdonalds an employee said, ...the first thing he d do is peel those socks off...kind of like a statement (400). Not only is McCandless joining the capitalist society (that he loathed) but he is also disrespectful to the managers of an establishment. McCandless disregard for authority exposes his ignorance and inability to operate with others. Another instance in which McCandless was hypocritical is when he claims a revelation in his journal, HAPPINESS ONLY REAL WHEN SHARED (189). Throughout the whole book McCandless keeps people at a distance (Westerberg, Franz, Burres), but only comes to appreciate others when he s at a state of imminent death. Only at a critical time of his journey could he discover his reason for venturing off into the wild. This reverent realization evokes sympathy from the audience about McCandless death, but should rather expose his hypocritical nature. Only few people in their lives will reach a level of self actualization. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. Panama Canal Thesis Statement Thesis Statement There is no doubt that the building of the Panama Canal was a major feat in history that has made a huge impact on the way many countries trade with each other. It was a great struggle to complete but it also was very rewarding. The Land Area The Isthmus of Panama is about 50 miles wide at its narrowest point. The land was thick with jungle, deep swamp, and mountains. What the surveyors did not realize is that the geology behind the land made it much harder to build the canal than in other places around the world. The surrounding mountain range was formed differently than most mountain ranges, commonly formed by folding due to lateral pressure. These mountains were formed by individual volcanic actions. Wyse, a grandson of Lucien Bonaparte, was sent to explore locations and different possibilities for the canal. He returned home in April 1877 and showed De Lesseps the construction plans. De Lesseps rejected all of the plans because they required tunnels and locks to be built. De Lesseps prefered to build a sea level canal like the Suez Canal. Wyse went back to the isthmus on December 6, 1877. He explored two routes in Panama, one through Nicaragua and one through Panama. In the end he chose the Panamanian route, which would be sea level. The route would follow the Panama Railroad and require a 7,720 meter long tunnel through the Continental Divide at Culebra. He traveled to Bogota and the Colombian government signed a treaty on March 20th, 1878 that granted rights to build the canal through Panama, then part of Colombia. The treaty promised Colombia ownership of the canal after 99 years. It was estimated to take six years and $240 million. The digging started the first day of 1880 By March 1883, construction was behind schedule and 660,000 out the promised 5,000,000 cubic meters have been excavated. After visiting Panama in 1886, De Lesseps claims construction will be done by July 1889. Later that year, only a few feet out of hundreds have been removed from the Culebra Cut. De Lesseps hired ... For two years, I attended Maryville University in St. Louis with a triple major in English, psychology, and sociology. Maryville University s campus was small with just three small academic buildings on campus. As I progressed from my freshman to my sophomore year, I realized I had outgrown the small campus that had once felt comfortable. With only one key faculty member in each of my major departments, the classes had become predictable. When the spring of my sophomore year arrived, I decided to transfer to Webster University where I could learn from a larger faculty with varied points of view. Although I did not spend all four years of my undergraduate career at Webster University, I have great affection for it. The campus was a mix of recently constructed academic buildings and repurposed historical homes in the St. Louis suburb of Webster Groves, including the English department s home: Pearson House. The amalgamation of buildings added a sense of both the past and the future to the university s campus; however, as a student, I was unaware of the history behind the campus I grew to love. Coincidentally, Webster University is celebrating its centennial this academic year. Gypsies in the Czech Republic Essay Gypsies in the Czech Republic The Gypsies of the former Czechoslovakia have suffered ethnic marginalization dating back to their arrival in Eastern Europe over 700 years ago. The collapse of communism in Czechoslovakia, and other Eastern Europe countries created the necessary conditions for the ethnic mobilization of the Gypsies and other minorities. During communism minorities presence in Eastern Europe was not officially recognized. Their nomadic life style was conducive to their activities because the Gypsies never established ties to the community and were gone before they had arrived. As the Gypsies continued to travel they soon began to develop a bad reputation that preceded their arrival in new areas. As the Gypsies arrived in the Czech areas within the Holy Roman Empire they were regarded as an undesirable element in society. Over the next few hundred years the Gypsies were persecuted and efforts were made to destroy the Gypsy culture in the area of former Czechoslovakia. In the seventeenth century, many Gypsies were hanged from trees along the border to discourage others from entering the country (Crowe and Kolsti 94). Persecution of the Gypsies ended in the eighteenth century ended when the rulers of the Hapsburg Empire tried to integrate them into the peasantry and make them a positive aspect of society. They were forced to abandon their nomadic lifestyle and many of their horses were shot. The Gypsies were not allowed to speak their native tongue, which is Romani, and their children were instructed in the Christian religion. Countries on the coast tend to do better than landlocked countries because they have more trade opportunities. Landlocked countries usually trade with their neighbors, but if their neighbors are also struggling economically, then both countries suffer from seclusion. However, sometimes the landlocked countries have well off neighbors which makes them more likely to do well. • 13. The Impact of Outsourcing on the U.S. Economy Essay It is difficult to determine whether offshore outsourcing has a positive or negative effect on the U.S. economy. It may actually depend on which perspective you take on it. As stated by Hira and Hira (2005), outsourcing in the services sector is a major shift in how the economy operates and will have serious impacts, both positive and negative, on the trajectory of economic growth, distribution of income and the workforce. However, there are many factors to take into account when considering globalization. Furthermore, the U.S. economy may also benefit if companies reinvest the extra profits gained from outsourcing for expansion in the U.S. This creates more jobs at home, but again, this is a long term effect of outsourcing and depends on how successful that business is overseas. Exporting presents many advantages including reduced dependency on home market sales and greater control over research, design and production decisions. Conversely, many exported goods are subject to tariff or nontariff barriers and transportation costs that may substantially increase the final cost to consumers (Williams, 2009.) Some companies stand to benefit from exporting. Large U.S. based organizations are strongly in favor of their companies free ability to export U.S. jobs and have no interest in taking responsibility for the consequences to their employees. Basically, this means that the CEOs, executives and shareholders support offshore outsourcing because they stand to gain from rising profits and stock prices while employees here at home are losing their jobs to free trade and offshoring. The U.S. is in a period of transition in which many companies have just discovered the benefits of outsourcing, so they are anxiously scrambling to substitute cheaper foreign labor for American labor. • 14. The Four Sources Of Moral Irrationality When we think about moral obligations and their directional structure, this involves the obligations that we have to other people. Obligations are owed to the benefactor (Timmons, 2015). This means that a person is obligated to someone who tries to help another person in some way, shape or form. So, let s say for example I promise you to walk your dog. Since I have promised you this I am not fulfilling my promise because I told you I d walk your dog, or because I want to keep my promises to you, but I fulfill my promise of walking your dog because you have the right to me walking your dog. As we learned in our reading, you now own my action. You have the right to be angry or upset at me if I fail to perform the act of walking your dog. You are able to demand me to perform that action. I think the directionality has more to do with the relationship that is developed as a result of your promising rather than how good the person you promised feels after you have performed the action. Korsgaard says that humans naturally have the instinct to do what is right and not do what is wrong. She goes on to explain the four conceptions for the sources of normativity of morality. I d like to go over voluntarism and see how or if it aligns with moral obligation being directional in structure. The first part discussed, is the that obligations derive from God. God is the relevant authority. It s saying, I must act because God commands me to act. God, I believe, does not have anything ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Analysis Of The Passage By Dalton Trumbo ¨Parents act so strong for us, that we often forget just how fragile they are.¨ As we grow we often find ourselves not spending as much of our free time with our parents as we had when we could barely speak a sentence without having bad grammar. This maturing state is something all of us experience. We become more interactive with sports, friends, relationships, and we forget who gave us this wonderful life. In the following stories of ¨ The Passage¨, ¨Through the Tunnel¨ , and ¨American History¨ the author utilizes dialogue to indicate the disconnection from their parents in the journey to adulthood. In the story The Passage By Dalton Trumbo, the author portrays coming of age and the beginning of a new chapter in life through the dialogue between the protagonist, Joe, and his father. The bond between Joe and his father is exhibited as very stable and happy. Their bond displays the attachment every adolescent acquires with their parents; as we learn almost everything basic to life from our parents. It is indistinguishable and unexplainable to deal with early warning signals and complex questions for most methods. Not only does accidents evolvement rely on current condition, but also on regular historical changes in conditions, because accidents develop in chronological order. Therefore, the same accident phenomenon may correspond to a number of different implied reasons, resulting in failure to judge the inherent cause of problem directly. It is the uncertainty problem in early warning system. (3) Hierarchy Hierarchy is a vital characteristic of early warning problem in industrial system. The status of entire system is reflected on all low level status. In early warning system, it can be divided into multi levels from low to high, such as monitoring status, equipment status, functional status of subsystem and system status. Various stimuli such as growth factors withdrawal, DNA damage, hypoxia, and oxidative stress can induce apoptosis through this cascade. These insults cause increasing permeability of the outer mitochondrial membrane and opening of the mitochondrial permeability transition (MPT) pore which is controlled by members of the Bcl 2 family proteins. This large family of proteins is defined by the presence of conserved Bcl 2 homology domains (BH1 to BH4). Up to 30 Bcl 2 family genes have been identified in mammals, which have either pro apoptotic or anti apoptotic functions. Some of the anti apoptotic members include Bcl 2 itself, Bcl XL, Bcl w, BAG and Mcl 1 which possess all domains of BH1 to BH4. The pro apoptotic family proteins can be divided into two subgroups: consists of Bak, Bax, and Bok with possess BH1 to BH3 domains, and Bad, Bid, Bik, BNIP3, Bim, Bmf, Blk, Hrk, Noxa, Puma, and Spike) that only possesses BH3 domain [Cory, 2002; Mund, 2003]. He was definitely the first to make a huge advance in the development of the steam engine. There is actually a Newcomen Engine still around today. (Robert H. Thurston) It resides at the Henry Ford Museum in Dearborn, Michigan. The engine was originally used to pump water from a mine with an over all power of about fifteen horsepower in 1760. However, neither Savery nor Newcomen had any grander purpose in mind for their machines. This all changed in 1763, when James Watt, a Scottish engineer, set out to improve upon Newcomen s design. The Newcomen design was unfortunately overshadowed by the well known James Watt. Beginning in 1765, Watt was labeled the inventor of the steam engine. James Watt was born on January 19, 1736, in Greenock, Scotland. He worked as a mathematical instrument maker from the age of 19 and soon became interested in improving the steam engines. Around 1769, he was assigned the task of repairing a Newcomen engine that was deemed inefficient. The Newcomen engine however was the best engine available at the time. Watt eventually added a separate condenser to Newcomen s engine. This caused the steam to condense in a separate vessel instead of within the cylinder itself. This conserved heat energy that had been lost due to alternately heating and cooling the cylinder. Watt s addition saved almost %75 of the fuel that had previously been used by the engine. (Robert H. I have read the background information on your specific case. Today s presentation will present on overview of the research concerning false memories and how such findings could apply to this particular case. I will then outline some situations that are known to increase the likelihood of false memories and end with strategies that may reduce the occurrence of false memories By way of introduction and if you will indulge my brief nod to Hollywood this is often how the issue of memory is portrayed by popular media. In the 2002 film, Antwone Fisher, Denzel Washington plays a military psychologist who is tasked with evaluating the mental health of recently demoted seaman, Antwone Fisher. As the film goes on Denzel Washington discovers (along with the rest of us) Antwone Fisher s highly traumatized past. Antwone Fisher simply needed a nudge by a safe, albeit stern father figure in order to remember it all. Additionally the film is bookended by a dream sequence of a young ... The Tulsa Race Riot of 1921 impacted the Greenwood District by creating more roots in Tulsa, destroying the lives and homes of families, and hiding the significance of Greenwood and how prosperous it was. Where does someone get their views, traditions, and fears from if they don t identify with a culture? There is literally a culture for everything. There s a millennial culture, gaming culture, food culture, etc. you name it! Culture itself is the arts and other manifestations of human intellectual achievement regarded collectively. Whether one knows it or not, they identify with something. In the book Tulsa s Historic Greenwood District by Hannibal B.
