New Women In The 1920s
These pictures represent the new women of the 1920`s. One of the many things the 1920`s is known
for is the new women . The new woman was a feminist ideal, where they spent a lot of their time
protesting for the right to vote, and be able to have the same jobs as men. The first picture in the
collage shows women who are holding a banner that is telling the president that women deserve
liberty. It took a lot for the 19th amendment to be ratified, including a lot of protesting to get people s
attention. The women of the 20`s wanted social justice and equality. The second picture shows women
who are holding another sign that represents the right for women to vote, just like men. Before 1920,
when they made it legal for women to vote, activist

Essay On A Child Called It By Dave Pelzer
Title: A Child Called It
Author: Dave Pelzer
Text type: Extended text
In the novel A Child Called It Dave has struggled greatly with the abuse of his mother who has been
tormenting him for years. When Dave was younger there were always signs of his mother s manic
behavior but David was too young to understand these actions. At the age of four David s mother
becomes very abusive and singles him out from his brothers; playing brutal and unpredictable games,
games that would leave him so weak, he was physically and mentally tortured. His world is full of
starvation and torture unknowing what his emotionally unstable, alcoholic mother is planning to do
next. His school picks up on the signs and eventually calls the police and David is put into foster care

She soon stops calling him by his name and refers to him as The boy this distances her self from him
and severs any motherly feelings she had left for Dave. You are a nobody! An It! You are nonexistent!

human making it easier to inflict inhuman punishment such as forcing him to drink ammonia, stabbing
him in the stomach, burning his arm on a gas stove, and forcing him to eat his own vomit. These are
things a mother could never imagine doing to her child, which why it is evident that his mother no
longer saw him as her son, and only something she could torcher and blame for the things that she
herself had done wrong in her life. Because she no longer called him by his name she is able to treat
him dreadfully and not be unsettled by her conscience. She took away her sons childhood because she
believed that he was not worthy of living a normal human life, she took humanity away from him and
made him feel like he was the evil and deserve this

Hysteria In Hemingway s Big Two-Hearted River
In her discussion of shell shock, Elaine Showalter writes, Men were silenced and immobilized and
forced, like women, to express their conflicts through the body. Placed in intolerable circumstances of
stress, and expected to react with unnatural courage, thousands of soldiers reacted instead with
symptoms of hysteria (Showalter 171). In Hemingway s Big Two Hearted River: Part I, Nick Adams
embodies this symptom of hysteria. His actions and interactions with his belongings and surroundings
showcase different dimensions of his recollection of the intolerable circumstances which he faced in
the Great War and the ways in which he seeks to choke his thoughts of the experience. Nick seeks
nature as a source of distraction and recreation. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Nick ponders the timeframe of recovery for the grasshopper much as he must ponder the time it will
take for his own mental state to return to normal. He realized that the fire must have come the year
before, but the grasshoppers were all black now. He wondered how long they would stay that way
(Hemingway 136). Even though they survived, these grasshoppers are scarred. The color black is
notable here in its representation of death while also being connected with a living insect. Perhaps
realizing the similarity between his own condition and that of the grasshopper, Nick wishes it well and
says, Go on, hopper,... Fly away somewhere (Hemingway 136). This encouragement and interaction
gives Nick hope that he can fly away from the struggles of his own life through camping and fishing,
as he did in the past, and also by pushing thoughts of war from his mind. However, this moment of
optimism is interrupted by the return of the heavy pack to his back. Nick stood up. He leaned his back
against the weight of his pack where it rested upright on the stump and got his arms through the
shoulder straps (Hemingway 136). Nick rises after his contemplation of flight only to feel the weight
of his war experience back on his

Essay on Frail Ophelia of Hamlet
Frail Ophelia of Hamlet
Throughout Hamlet, Shakespeare makes it evident that Ophelia is very unstable. She continuously
changes her mind about the way she feels. Laertes and Polonius command her to do things that she
does not agree with, but she does them with no argument. Afraid to stand up for herself, she stands
back and watches everyone else control her life. In Shakespeare s Hamlet, Ophelia is treated as a
marionette with her strings in the hands of the people around her; however, Kenneth Branagh portrays
her as independent and innocent, ignoring Shakespeare s representation of her as feeble minded
through complete male dominance in her thoughts and actions, her indecisiveness, and digression into
madness.

(1.3.133 136)
He goes on to say she is unable to think for herself, untruthful and insincere. Ophelia takes his words
to heart and promises to remember what he has told her. In Branagh s movie, he makes this scene look
as though Ophelia and Laertes are having a normal conversation. The slanderous words thrown
towards Ophelia do not seem to bother her; she goes on about her business as though her brother has
praised her instead of insulted her. Ophelia cannot stand on her own because she relies too much on
the directions given to her by her father and brother.
Ophelia has trouble deciding whether or not she loves Hamlet or thinks he loves her because she does
not know how to understand her own feelings. This comes from always letting everyone else tell her
what she should think. Polonius questions her about the many tenders of affection Hamlet has shown
her and she replies, I do not know, my lord, what I should think (1.3.104 105). Later she says that she
thinks Hamlet goes mad over her. Throughout the play she contradicts herself, showing she is
ambivalent and has no set thoughts; she thinks whatever the person around her at that moment thinks.
Ophelia s madness comes about because she cannot stand on her own and focuses too much on the
bad things around her. She is very pessimistic; she constantly

Gst Reform Case Study
The Grattan Institute s proposal to broaden the base and increase the rate of the goods and services tax
(GST) is rooted in principles of economic rationalism that fail to sufficiently consider political and
pragmatic concerns. Comprehending the manner in which policy networks in Australia have evolved
in recent decades is crucial towards placing the Grattan Institute s role into context as the
identification of key actors and political groups in this debate otherwise would be opaque. Issues of
constitutionality and political controversy naturally arise when considering this far reaching reform
due to pressures that the GST impose on the very essence of federalism and power in Australia. The
advantages of reforming the GST are largely derived ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The heuristic and iterative approach of the policy cycle suggests that proposals to amend the GST
appear to be languishing during its early phases. Of the eight distinct segments that comprise the
policy cycle, it seems that the government has so far only progressed through the first four: the
identification of the issue, policy analysis, policy instruments, and consultation. The government has
certainly advanced to at least the second stage of the policy cycle as the Department of the Treasury
(2016, p. 1) has publicly released economic modelling asserting [a] tax mix switch involving income
tax cuts and increasing the GST to 15 per cent would deliver negligible GDP gains. Whilst it is
debateable as to whether the government can be considered as having entered the consultation phase,
the presence of numerous public comments on GST reform by Liberal Party Members of Parliament
indicates that the party room has likely discussed the topic in at least a peripheral sense. However, the
policy cycle does possess serious limitations that detract from its ability to serve as an effective prism
through which to judge government movement on the GST. A powerful criticism of the cycle is that it
ignores the role that non ministerial, non major party parliamentarians play in shaping the course of
public policy,

Pride and Vanity in Jane Austen s Pride and Prejudice
Pride and Vanity in Jane Austen s Pride and Prejudice
Vanity and pride are different things, though the words are often used synonymously. A person may be
proud without being vain. Pride relates more to our opinion of ourselves, vanity to what we would
have others think of us. In her novel, Pride and Prejudice, Jane Austen makes the point that an excess
of pride or vanity is indeed a failing.
Pride, observed Mary, . . . is a very common failing, I believe. By all that I have ever read, I am
convinced that it is very common indeed, that human nature is particularly prone to it, and that there
are very few of us who do not cherish a feeling of self complacency on the score of some quality or
another, real or imaginary. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Mr. Collins possesses a definite sense of vanity. He is in no way concerned about his own opinion of
his character, for as we see his character leaves much to be desired. All he cares about is what others
think of him. He always needs the approval of his present company. When he gives Elizabeth the
grand tour of his nothing spectacular home, he is looking for her approval of his position and
possessions. It is not important to Mr. Collins for people to like him as a person, they just had better be
impressed his status in life and his connections.
Mr. Darcy, as one of the main characters, is for the better part of the novel a focus of the theme of
pride. His pride is very obvious. It is a part of his nature and is seen in his mannerisms and in his
speech. Darcy has such a high opinion of himself that he does not care what others think of him or his
prideful actions. He believes that he is the best in every way possible and finds that his standing in
society gives him the right to be critical of those not as perfect as he.
Elizabeth Bennet, the other main character of the novel, is just as guilty of being proud as any of the
other characters in the novel. She prides herself on being unprejudiced and rational in the judgement
of others. Yet, this is an imaginary quality as she learns that her preconceived notions of both Mr.

Pros And Cons Of Drinking Water
The Carlsbad desalination idea is not a practical way to get drinking water for the people of
California. Obviously, it is a serious risk to the environment, and comes with many more cons than
pros. Why damage our world long term not that we haven t done that already when we can just find
other ways to get water for the Californians?
First of all, desalination is highly expensive. According to the NewsELA article titled, California Tries
One Solution to Water Problems Treating Seawater, by the Sacramento Bee staff, getting water will
cost $2,257 per acre foot. This is double the price of the authority s most expensive supply of water
now. Double! Already the U.S. is investing too much money in things that could be solved in a much
more practical way. We don t need desalination to provide water to people. Clearly, desalination is not
a realistic idea, due to the cost of it. People s water bills will go shoot through the roof, and the project
is expected to cost $1 billion. One acre foot can only serve two average homes per year, meaning that
desalination will only meet 7% of San Diego s annual water needs. 7% is not worth it. 7% will do
nothing but damage the oceans and ocean life. Think about it this way: say that a county has 150
homes in it (which isn t even a close number, by the way). Now take those 150 homes and multiply
that by 2,257. The total is 338,550, meaning it will take approximately $350,000 to supply these
homes with only 7% of the water that they

Spring Lake Creek And Its Effects On Water Quality And...
Spring Lake Creek is located off of County road E in Sawyer County. The Spring Lake creek has a
culvert that goes under County road E to Spring Lake. The culvert has the water flowing from Spring
Lake into Spring Lake creek. With the road right by Spring Lake creek, one would think how much of
the runoff from the road affect the water quality and invertebrate life. That is exactly the hypothesis a
group from the Fresh Water Ecology class had come up with and wanted to experiment by testing two
pools and two riffles. One set closest to the bridge and another away from the bridge. Historic events
might have played a role in the conclusion of the experiment.

DDT was very persistent in the environment and can travel long distances in the upper atmosphere

body lice (epa, 2015). Around the year 2000, The Wisconsin DNR washed out their firefighting foam
in Spring Lake creek killing off many clams and possibly different kinds of species. It is also very
possible that there were species in Spring Lake creek that are no longer in there due to that event

Essay about Analysis of Beethoven Symphony 3 and Mozart...
Beethoven Symphony No. 3 and Mozart Symphony 40 Forms
Sonata form is one of the more popular forms of music that is found in a variety of different works
including symphonies, concertos, and sonatas. Sonata form features three distinct sections: the
exposition, development, and recapitulation. Mozart was one of the early composers of this form of
music. I will examine the clear distinctions between each section and how he does not stray from the
typical form. In later years the form would change to become more fluent and focused on the growth
and expansion of the piece. This progression of change was led by the works of Beethoven and the
changes can be clearly seen in his grandiose works. By comparing the first movement of Symphony ...

The recapitulation is much like the exposition, except it does not modulate. All of these sections can
be seen in the Mozart and Beethoven movements that are being analyzed and relatively easy to
identify. In the Mozart symphony, sections defined by strong cadences. An easy example would be at
the end of the exposition where there is a PAC in ms. 99. Following that is a rest and then an
appearance of F sharp minor. This is the beginning of the development. The end of the development
ends with a huge forte with a pedal tone and a cadence at ms. 160. The wind section quietly brings the
section to a close as the strings reintroduce the primary theme back in the original key of G minor.
These large sections are not likely to be mistaken. Beethoven too has clearly defined the large sections
of the sonata form. His exposition begins after two opening chords with the theme in the cello section.
The exposition closes with full orchestral chords in a perfect authentic cadence around ms. 144 148
and after a short link/transition the development begins at ms. 166. The development closes with huge
orchestral chords. The big pictures for Mozart and Beethoven line up, but a closer and deeper look
reveal that the small sections are quite different. Mozart s smaller sections continue to remain clearly
defined, but Beethoven tends to blur it all together. In a typical exposition, we expect to find

Lubrication Theory For Journal Bearing
John Rogers Dr. Sawicki Flows in a Journal Bearing 17 June 2016 I. LUBRICATION THEORY
Lubrication is the use of viscous fluids to reduce friction and damage between solid surfaces. In
hydrodynamic lubrication, a shaft rotating in a bearing is supported by a layer or wedge of oil so the
shaft is not in contact with bearing material. The surfaces are in sliding motion relative to each other.
Lubrication theory for journal bearings describes the flow of fluids in which the fluid film lubricant
thickness is far smaller than the dimensions of the bearing. A major focus in lubrication theory is to
determine the pressure distribution in the fluid volume. In this way, the forces of the shaft being
supported by the lubricant can be measured. A purpose of analyzing crankshaft bearings is to diminish
friction and wear due to small film thicknesses [1]. The minimum film thickness of a journal bearing
should be greater than the average asperity height (unevenness, roughness) of the journal bearing
surface to prevent any surface contact, and consequently, avoid friction and wear. For journal bearing
design, the minimum safe value for film thickness is 2.5 microns [2]. Values lower than this can create
too low of supporting oil pressure and damage the journal bearing. Bearings in reciprocating
machinery operate with dynamic loads creating large journal orbits within the bearing clearance,
which is the distance between the radius of the bearing and the radius of the journal

Macbeth And Lady Macbeth Relationship
The relationship between Macbeth and Lady Macbeth is not comparable to any other in the book.
William Shakespeare truly focused on their relationship and thus allowed readers to understand the
way the roles in the relationship are switched, the trust between them and how ambitious they are.
Macbeth and Lady Macbeth are the two primary characters and thrive off each others actions and
decisions. Macbeth and Lady Macbeth s marriage revolves around the need for power, this is why
Macbeth is Lady Macbeth s transportation, and she is his fuel. Unfortunately, they are both corrupted
by the power they desire. They are partners in crime who slowly drift apart as the power overcomes
them.
Furthermore, Its is evident that throughout the first half of the play, Lady Macbeth plays the role as the
man, and Macbeth plays the role of the women. Lady Macbeth is the one first to suggest that King
Duncan die before leaving their castle, and she calls on the spirits to take away her femininity so that

The Search For Happiness
Happiness is something that everyone, regardless of their background and experiences, search for in
life. This search for happiness is manifested in countless novels, theatrical plays, and films, and
involves at least one character who struggles to find purpose and joy in their life. A common theme in
these stories is the character s impression that there is something missing or inadequate with aspects of
their current identity. Thus, they believe that they must complete the missing piece of themselves to
achieve happiness. This is best demonstrated by Amedeo/Ahmed in A Clash of Civilizations Over an
Elevator in Piazza Vittorio and Xavier in L Auberge Espagnole. I believe that one s conceptualization
of their identity is actually an obstacle to happiness and that one can only be truly happy once they
embrace their true identity, which is often much different from the one they imagine. A Clash of
Civilizations Over an Elevator in Piazza Vittorio by Amara Lakhous focuses extensively on the
importance of identity in one s life, mainly in relation to ethnicity and religion. Identity plays such an
important role in the characters lives that it dominates the way the perceive each other, leading them to
radical and often negative conclusions. For example, when interviewed about a murder, the character
Benedetta makes statements like I m suspicious of that Albanian friend of Amadeo s (Lakhous 36) and
I m sure the murderer of Lorenzo Manfredini is one of the immigrants (Lakhous

Building A Safer Healthcare System Essay
Discussion
Current healthcare practices today have largely been influenced by the Institute of Medicine (IOM)
1999 report, To Err is Human: Building a Safer Healthcare System. This report delineated many
weaknesses in the practice of medicine regarding the safety of patients within the healthcare industry.
This report has increased public awareness regarding the need for transparency around reporting
serious safety events as well as the need to implement best practices in an effort to increase patient
safety. Additionally, Medicare initiatives support the need for increased quality of care as hospitals
will suffer financial loss due to declining reimbursement for patient. Patient satisfaction and safety are
imperative in order for care to be provided. One effort which can help support improvements in
patient safety and quality of care is through hourly or intentional rounding on patients. This rounding
practice amplifies the nurse patient relationship, provides continuity of care, increased safety, and
service excellence. Intentional rounding or rounding with a purpose, can be a success, as long as
nursing staff understand the full implications and the potential for positive outcomes, and take
complete ownership of the rounding initiative. Leadership and nurses need to work collaboratively
and be cognizant of each other s role pertaining to the delivery of care regarding this practice. The
purpose of this research is to depict the importance of hourly rounding as a

Pros And Consequences Of Privatization
What drives the movement for privatization? In the past few decades, countries around the world have
taken action to privatize their services. It is believed that privatization creates markets that allow
companies to compete, and contribute to the economy. The idea is to cede ownership of public
services to the private sector; where competition will drive innovation, and reduce costs for the
government and the taxpayer alike. That being said, in some cases privatization does not create a real
market where competition occurs, or is even feasible. Privatizing these services can deteriorate quality
and increase costs for those who require their use. This way, it is possible to limit a service to those
who can afford them. While privatization can, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
As shown in Prisons, Privatization, Patronage by Paul Krugman, privatization can have negative
consequences. These privatized prisons are understaffed and poorly run. There are have been convicts
escaping prison and minor offenders suffering in the hands of other prisoners (Krugman). These
prisons also show very little reduction in costs, as opposed to state funded prisons and the little
savings come from understaffing and underpaying their employees (Krugman). In this case,
privatization was used for the benefit of private companies who are making a profit, as well as the
government who does not have to invest money in prisons. However, this is done at the expense of
those receiving the service.
Moreover, privatization can limit a service to a certain group of people. As argued by Gary Haugen in
The Privatization of Justice , private services can be limited to the wealthy. In many developing
countries police enforcement is sometimes limited. In some areas, people looking to protect
themselves and their property hire their own protection (Haugen). This is great for companies who
now have access to this new market, allowing them to make money and create jobs. However, many
people cannot afford private protection, making justice available only for the

most common reasons why is they could not get a job and they just decided to give up so they don t

Professional Hockey Players
In the world of professional sports, teams value youth, searching for the next super star. Whether it is
inking the highly coveted free agent, or rebuilding through drafts, General Managers have put a
premium on young athletes, hoping that these youngsters will become the face of the franchise.
Age and experience has seem to taken a back seat for teams. While it is important to develop young
prospects, veteran leadership is often hard to find during games, in the locker room, and particularly
during the playoffs. There are four current players in the National Hockey League who are still
excelling well into their 40 s, contributing on a nightly basis. They are Martin Brodeur, Teemu
Selanne, Jaromir Jagr, and Daniel Alfredsson.
Daniel Alfredsoon, the longtime captain of the Ottawa Senators, now plays for the Detroit Red Wings.
Alfredsson is 41 years old and is currently second on the team this season in goals, having lit the lamp
17 times. With injuries to stars Pavel Datsyuk and Henrik Zetterberg, Alfredsson has been able to step
up and provide the scoring that Detroit desperately sought when its two stars went down with injuries.
He also has 26 assists on the season and is helping the Red Wings make a late season push for the
playoffs.
Alfredsson participated in his 5th Olympic games this February as a member of Sweden s team. He
had four points in five games, registering two goals and two assists to help his country earn a silver
medal after falling to Canada.

Personal Responsibility Leads To Success Case Study
Samuel Cedeno
Gen/200
August 27, 2012
Instructor: Jennifer Smith
Personal Responsibility Leads to Success Even though a person taking on too many responsibilities
can lead to his or her downfall, personal responsibility can lead to success in higher education.
Because responsibility is the force that binds an individual to the course of action demanded by the
goal, personal responsibility can incur beneficial habits and admirable behaviors that will advocate
successful outcome. The state of New York once sought to raise $24 million in donations to give to
poor residents as an incentive to stay in school, stay at work, and stay on track (Traub, 2006). I will be
revealing some examples, to implement, of personal responsibility and ... Show more content on

In this case study 554 students divided into teams in accordance with their performance. Equal parts
high, average, and low performers. The teams engaged in class time, team discussions, and test, over
three semesters with one variance the grading. In semester one, the team received 10 points bonus if
the team raised their final grade by one point. In semester one, they made six points for team
improvement and four points for individual improvement. In semester three, the students collected 10
points, but only if they accomplished both individual, and group improvement. The group would not
collectively receive any points. This study found when high performance students benefited
individually they improved, but when only the group benefited their scores suffered. The high
performance students used their time reviewing material and helping the low performers understand
the material. They lost their own time for review and henceforth their grades suffered.
Conclusion
In conclusion, Personal responsibility is composed of many tools that will allow an individual or team
to succeed. Simply because it is, the force that keeps an individual on course with the end goal, using
these tools will enable inherent success. The practice of setting goals can help one to keep focused on
the task a hand, by knowing what goal a person is working at.
Conclusion
Combining planning with a time schedule, as I have, increases the effectiveness of both

Differences Of Animation From The East And Western Animation
WESTERN ANIMATION AND EASTERN ANIMATION
There is little or no indication of where animation would start, but possibly one the earliest form of
animation would be shadow play in the east (especially in the southeast area) The uses of light to
create images produced by shadows cast by certain objects onto a screen (with the illusion of
movement). However, animation continues to grow even expanding continents and then modified to
attain certain identities of each cultures. Here, I would try to compare animations from the west and
the east. There are several factors that separate animation from the west and East. The most well
known animation, the cel/ traditional animation rises early from western civilization. Since its
introduction, this style ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Some example of experimental animation would be Norman McLaren s Neighbours which combine
live actors and setting with stop motion animation. In terms of experimental animation, I would say
that the west is better at it than the east. This statement could be true due to the fact that the
technological advancement in Western culture are superior than in Eastern culture, and having
pioneered traditional/ cel animation decades before Eastern Animation could afford proper animation.
Experiments such as Clay Animation, Silhouette, and others challenge the critical minds of human all
over the world, therefore could be the reason of western animation s rapid growth of popularity.
Western animation is also the first to implement the famous computer generated three dimensional
animation in animation history. Most prominent of the animation would be Toy Story, produced by
Pixar Studios. This technique would later be universal both in west and East. Malaysia who have
embraced 3D animation few decades ago now received critical success in the local animation industry.
Not to miss that animations such as BoboiBoy, and Upin and Ipin received international attention from

The Ritual Core Of Fascist Theatre
Fascism and Rituals : History has revealed a close connection between theatrical presentation of
rituals and dictatorial politics. Rituals are acts which are meant to connect to the very core of the
human soul , the centre of his most elementary being . Naturally , any fascist dictatorial politics tries
to exploit rituals as a mass medium to perpetuate it s ideology. A fascist regime consolidates its
authority not only by military power but also by popular consensus and use of ritualistic theatre plays
a major role in manufacturing consensus. Gunter Berghaus in his essay The Ritual Core of Fascist

physical strength will just be exploited by perpetrators of the cult to subdue any political opposition.
In a word, they will be made to act as pawns in the dictatorial venture of Ramon and Cipriano. As
women cannot provide that manpower they are unnecessary and may sit . In this context, Ramon s
indifferent attitude towards his wife, Carlota should be noted when she, being a devout Christian,
frenziedly opposes consecration ceremony of Quetzalcoatl inside the previously Christian Church.
Ramon s indifferent attitude towards Carlota is both a rejection of her womanhood as well as her
different religious faith thereby reconfirming the alignment between patriarchy and dictatorial politics
in Lawrence s ideology of that time. Kate being a woman herself quickly fathoms the male

How Did Akhenaten Changed Religion And Politics Within The...
Akhenaten changed religion and politics within the Amarna period through his large scale religious
and artistic reforms, decision to leave Thebes and make Amarna the capital and relations with third
party powers in the ancient Near East.
Early on in his reign Akhenaten began introducing new artistic styles, both in relation to religion and
personal portrayals of the royal family. After moving the capital from Thebes to Amarna in search of
new land on which to worship Aten (the God of sun/light) the artistic portrayal of the god changed to
become one the most symbolic and abstract depictions of a God in Ancient Egypt (Weigall 1922, 120).
The new depiction of Aten became a sun disc with long rays extending hands down to earth, and often
to the royal family or the king himself. This can be thought of as symbolising the power given to the
king by the Gods (Kempt 1989, 173). Akhenaten also introduced his own style of royal artwork, in
which the royal family was represented in an exaggerated manner. The most notable of these
exaggerations was the changes to facial features, such as the long skull and chin, and large oval eyes.
This is thought to perhaps represent the separation of the royal family from everyday Egyptian people,
however this contradicts with the meaning of another change to Amarna artwork, the personal,
intimate portraits of the king s family life (Kempt 1989, 265).
Akhenaten greatly influenced the way in which people worshiped by making changes to traditional

Adam And Eve Durer Analysis
1. The 2D engraving of Adam and Eve by Albrecht Durer caught my interest. The engraving illustrates
Adam and Eve in a heavily wooded background surrounded by animals with precise detail. Proportion
is used on the female and male bodies to represent the human body. Both individuals are larger than
the animals to demonstrate that they are closer and the animals in the background are further from the
audience s view. To increase the visually realistic representation both Adam and Eve resemble
sculptures with the use the classical contrapposto in the 2D engraving. This creates a convincing
illusion that their bodies are capable of movement. The dark and light is used to evoke a spooky
appearance within the woods. Michelangelo s 3D marble sculpture of David also peaked my interest.

Michelangelo s passion for human anatomy and his deep knowledge of the male body allowed him to
create a realistic sculpture of a man with pulsing veins. Proportion is used by increasing the size of the
right hand to emphasize the importance of the stone in David s hand. I found the 2D oil on wood
Portrait of Martin Luther by Lucas Cranach the Elder to be the least appealing. The artist s use of
yellows, reds, and browns limits the paintings aesthetic appeal. The proportion in relation to his arms
is too small for his body. His hands seem out of place in this portrait. The 3D marble pieta sculpture of
in the Museo dell Opera del Duomo lacked variety in its color scheme. I disliked this sculpture due to
its dark solid marble color which created a dull scene. The legs and arms of Jesus also pose a
disturbing image. The limbs seem to bend at an unusual angle, not normal of that of a dead individual.
These artworks all correlate to one another because they are within the 16th century

Class Reflection Essay
I went to Ning s informational speech section. The classroom is located room 209 at Williams
Building (WMS). It took me a while to find this building because I seldom go to the area around
Westcott Fountain. Williams is large compound building that served as lecture halls and classrooms
for undergraduate s general education courses. Room 209 is where the public speech class took place.
It is a middle size classroom in the corner and next to a lounge area. I saw some of the students
rehearsal their informative speech at the lounge when I arrived early and wait for Ning to come. Ning
s class has 15 students with varying major background. On the day I visited, most of the students came
to class on time. Three students arrived about 5 minutes late, and Ning said she would mark them as
late. Ning told me that too many late marks would negatively affect the student s participation final
grade. I learned a lot of teaching skills from Ning, such as how to start the class lively, how to
organize student s speech and how to claim down students when facing unpredicted things. Ning
started her class by showing a video clip of humorous talk show. I think it is an effective way to
reduce student s pre performance anxiety. She then overviewed what the class was going to do and
gave updates on class assignments. Then, Ning asked volunteer students give the first speech. Others
could just step to the front if they felt like they are ready to go. I think this is the best way to

PPI Inhibitors
Strategies to Identify PPI Inhibitors
With the newfound understanding of PPIs, there have been increased efforts to further elucidate the
mechanisms of PPIs, and the past decade and a half has seen significant progress in the field (Fig
3).27, 28 Attempts to inhibit PPIs have focused on two main interaction types: orthosteric and
allosteric. Orthosteric interactions refers to competitive inhibition of the PPIs, by binding to one of the
involved proteins and thus blocking the interface. Allosteric interactions act as a mode of non
competitive inhibition, binding to a secondary site on the protein and bringing about a conformational
change in the protein which prevents interaction. Orthosteric inhibitors will be the main focus of this

The p53 protein s primary function is to protect an organism against proliferation of cells containing
damaged DNA, this is done in several ways, including cell cycle arrest and apoptosis.43, 44 MDM2
has been shown to be the principal negative regulator of p53, inhibiting its tumour suppressing
abilities and thus leading to tumour propagation. To this end disruption of the MDM2/p53 interface is
an attractive strategy in cancer therapeutics.45, 46 Independently Grasberger and Vassilev both
successfully used HTS of large compound libraries to discover small molecule inhibitors of
MDM2.47, 48 Grasberger s benzodiazepinedione and Vassilev s cis imidazoline (Nutlin) were both
able to bind to MDM2 at the MDM2/p53 binding region, disrupting the interface and thus blocking

There Will Be Blood
There Will be Blood was released in 2007. The director and the screenwriter was by Paul Thomas
Anderson. Some of the tremendous actors in this movie are, Daniel Day Lewis, Paul Dano, and Dillon
Freasier. I would say this movie really set the tone for the American dream, even though it wasn t
really thought of during the movie s time period. It really shows hard work, greed, lust, and trickery.
Overall this is a good movie, with a very slow start. It is filled with drama, mystery, and action. If you
are for those kinds of films this movie is right up your alley. This movie is more of an action, drama,
and mystery film. You never know what will be happening next. The film is filled with small hints, to

Quebec Sovereignty Movement In Quebec
The Front de libération du Québec (FLQ) was a paramilitary group, who was very left winged; they
believed in socialism and nationalism. These people were considered terrorists in the eyes of the
British, whereas some Quebecois saw these people as heroes. The FLQ was responsible for 8 deaths
with approximately 160 violent attacks on civilians. This terrorist organization endorsed the Quebec
Sovereignty Movement. This movement was essentially a political movement that wanted Quebec to
separate from the rest of Canada and become an independent nation. In addition, it declared that the
members of the FLQ would rebel against anyone that were considered Anglo saxon imperialism. It
also wanted to overthrow the current Quebec government, and along with the separation from Canada,
it wanted a French speaking society with only Francophones. This group caused much chaos, but its
peak and most destructive affect on Canada was known as the October Crisis.

sale and introduce their product to the consumer, such as: Logos, Pathos, and Ethos. Even if the
product itself is not attractive, it can still be popular by a y. For example, the ads for Cantus and
Herbal Essences in Essences have used pathos successfully to attract their target audience which is
African American women who do not have a lot of money to spend on unnecessary product.
The advertisement for Cantus (Shea Butter) from the November 2015 issue of Essence shows an

There was a time when he did get in trouble and even now he remembers clearly when his father
taught him about honor: No matter what happens, no matter how bad a situation is, no matter what
you think the consequences will be if you tell the truth, and honorable man does not lie. A
Schwarzkopf does not lie. (11) It was not only his father who had shown him how to conduct himself,
but it was his mother as well. His father would be out on missions for long periods of time and he
learned from his mother the need for tolerance. Respect and how to be courteous to all no matter
whom they were or what they looked like, is what his mother taught him. Not everything was as pretty
as it seemed, their family had issues that they had to overcome and the fear of loosing the battle away
and at home was something that he struggled with on a daily basis when he was young. His mother
was left with the entire burden when his father left and it eventually became too much to handle. His
mother became an alcoholic and he and his family suffered tremendously from his mother s sickness.
He felt like if he had let his father down when he came home to find this out. Living with all females
and putting up with them was too much for him that he decided to convince his father to send him to

The Consequences Of Designer Babies
There are sometimes immediate or later consequences as a result of an action. Therefore, with the
creation of designer babies, it may lead to major or minor changes. What may happen in the present,
may impact the future. An important concern was that genetic screening and modification could be
used as the tools of new eugenics, a popular theory during the early twentieth century that sought to
remove from the population traits labeled undesirable (Lerner, 2012, para. 10). The main purpose of
designer babies was to create healthier and improved babies, but it may lead to disparity in health.
People who did not undergo this procedure will not be on the same level to those who did; thus, may
lead to discrimination of non designer babies. Therefore,

Essay On A Child Called It By Dave Pelzer Title: A Child Called It Author: Dave Pelzer Text type: Extended text In the novel A Child Called It Dave has struggled greatly with the abuse of his mother who has been tormenting him for years. When Dave was younger there were always signs of his mother s manic behavior but David was too young to understand these actions. At the age of four David s mother becomes very abusive and singles him out from his brothers; playing brutal and unpredictable games, games that would leave him so weak, he was physically and mentally tortured. Hysteria In Hemingway s Big Two-Hearted River In her discussion of shell shock, Elaine Showalter writes, Men were silenced and immobilized and forced, like women, to express their conflicts through the body. Placed in intolerable circumstances of stress, and expected to react with unnatural courage, thousands of soldiers reacted instead with symptoms of hysteria (Showalter 171). In Hemingway s Big Two Hearted River: Part I, Nick Adams embodies this symptom of hysteria. His actions and interactions with his belongings and surroundings showcase different dimensions of his recollection of the intolerable circumstances which he faced in the Great War and the ways in which he seeks to choke his thoughts of the experience. Nick ponders the timeframe of recovery for the grasshopper much as he must ponder the time it will take for his own mental state to return to normal. He realized that the fire must have come the year before, but the grasshoppers were all black now. He wondered how long they would stay that way (Hemingway 136). Even though they survived, these grasshoppers are scarred. The color black is notable here in its representation of death while also being connected with a living insect. Perhaps realizing the similarity between his own condition and that of the grasshopper, Nick wishes it well and says, Go on, hopper,... Fly away somewhere (Hemingway 136). This encouragement and interaction gives Nick hope that he can fly away from the struggles of his own life through camping and fishing, as he did in the past, and also by pushing thoughts of war from his mind. However, this moment of optimism is interrupted by the return of the heavy pack to his back. Nick stood up. • 5. Essay on Frail Ophelia of Hamlet Frail Ophelia of Hamlet Throughout Hamlet, Shakespeare makes it evident that Ophelia is very unstable. She continuously changes her mind about the way she feels. Laertes and Polonius command her to do things that she does not agree with, but she does them with no argument. Afraid to stand up for herself, she stands back and watches everyone else control her life. In Shakespeare s Hamlet, Ophelia is treated as a marionette with her strings in the hands of the people around her; however, Kenneth Branagh portrays her as independent and innocent, ignoring Shakespeare s representation of her as feeble minded through complete male dominance in her thoughts and actions, her indecisiveness, and digression into madness. The slanderous words thrown towards Ophelia do not seem to bother her; she goes on about her business as though her brother has praised her instead of insulted her. Ophelia cannot stand on her own because she relies too much on the directions given to her by her father and brother. Ophelia has trouble deciding whether or not she loves Hamlet or thinks he loves her because she does not know how to understand her own feelings. This comes from always letting everyone else tell her what she should think. Polonius questions her about the many tenders of affection Hamlet has shown her and she replies, I do not know, my lord, what I should think (1.3.104 105). Later she says that she thinks Hamlet goes mad over her. • 6. Gst Reform Case Study The Grattan Institute s proposal to broaden the base and increase the rate of the goods and services tax (GST) is rooted in principles of economic rationalism that fail to sufficiently consider political and pragmatic concerns. Comprehending the manner in which policy networks in Australia have evolved in recent decades is crucial towards placing the Grattan Institute s role into context as the identification of key actors and political groups in this debate otherwise would be opaque. Issues of constitutionality and political controversy naturally arise when considering this far reaching reform due to pressures that the GST impose on the very essence of federalism and power in Australia. The advantages of reforming the GST are largely derived ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The heuristic and iterative approach of the policy cycle suggests that proposals to amend the GST appear to be languishing during its early phases. Of the eight distinct segments that comprise the policy cycle, it seems that the government has so far only progressed through the first four: the identification of the issue, policy analysis, policy instruments, and consultation. The government has certainly advanced to at least the second stage of the policy cycle as the Department of the Treasury (2016, p. 1) has publicly released economic modelling asserting [a] tax mix switch involving income tax cuts and increasing the GST to 15 per cent would deliver negligible GDP gains. Whilst it is debateable as to whether the government can be considered as having entered the consultation phase, the presence of numerous public comments on GST reform by Liberal Party Members of Parliament indicates that the party room has likely discussed the topic in at least a peripheral sense. However, the policy cycle does possess serious limitations that detract from its ability to serve as an effective prism through which to judge government movement on the GST. A person may be proud without being vain. Pride relates more to our opinion of ourselves, vanity to what we would have others think of us. In her novel, Pride and Prejudice, Jane Austen makes the point that an excess of pride or vanity is indeed a failing. Pride, observed Mary, . . . is a very common failing, I believe. By all that I have ever read, I am convinced that it is very common indeed, that human nature is particularly prone to it, and that there are very few of us who do not cherish a feeling of self complacency on the score of some quality or another, real or imaginary. ... It is not important to Mr. Collins for people to like him as a person, they just had better be impressed his status in life and his connections. Obviously, it is a serious risk to the environment, and comes with many more cons than pros. Why damage our world long term not that we haven t done that already when we can just find other ways to get water for the Californians? First of all, desalination is highly expensive. According to the NewsELA article titled, California Tries One Solution to Water Problems Treating Seawater, by the Sacramento Bee staff, getting water will cost $2,257 per acre foot. This is double the price of the authority s most expensive supply of water now. Double! Already the U.S. is investing too much money in things that could be solved in a much more practical way. We don t need desalination to provide water to people. Clearly, desalination is not a realistic idea, due to the cost of it. People s water bills will go shoot through the roof, and the project is expected to cost $1 billion. One acre foot can only serve two average homes per year, meaning that desalination will only meet 7% of San Diego s annual water needs. 7% is not worth it. 7% will do nothing but damage the oceans and ocean life. Think about it this way: say that a county has 150 homes in it (which isn t even a close number, by the way). Now take those 150 homes and multiply that by 2,257. Beethoven Symphony No. 3 and Mozart Symphony 40 Forms Sonata form is one of the more popular forms of music that is found in a variety of different works including symphonies, concertos, and sonatas. Sonata form features three distinct sections: the exposition, development, and recapitulation. Mozart was one of the early composers of this form of music. I will examine the clear distinctions between each section and how he does not stray from the typical form. In later years the form would change to become more fluent and focused on the growth and expansion of the piece. This progression of change was led by the works of Beethoven and the changes can be clearly seen in his grandiose works. By comparing the first movement of Symphony ... All of these sections can be seen in the Mozart and Beethoven movements that are being analyzed and relatively easy to identify. In the Mozart symphony, sections defined by strong cadences. An easy example would be at the end of the exposition where there is a PAC in ms. 99. Following that is a rest and then an appearance of F sharp minor. This is the beginning of the development. The end of the development ends with a huge forte with a pedal tone and a cadence at ms. 160. The wind section quietly brings the section to a close as the strings reintroduce the primary theme back in the original key of G minor. These large sections are not likely to be mistaken. Beethoven too has clearly defined the large sections of the sonata form. His exposition begins after two opening chords with the theme in the cello section. The exposition closes with full orchestral chords in a perfect authentic cadence around ms. 144 148 and after a short link/transition the development begins at ms. 166. The development closes with huge orchestral chords. The big pictures for Mozart and Beethoven line up, but a closer and deeper look reveal that the small sections are quite different. Mozart s smaller sections continue to remain clearly defined, but Beethoven tends to blur it all together. In a typical exposition, we expect to find ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 14. Lubrication Theory For Journal Bearing John Rogers Dr. Sawicki Flows in a Journal Bearing 17 June 2016 I. LUBRICATION THEORY Lubrication is the use of viscous fluids to reduce friction and damage between solid surfaces. In hydrodynamic lubrication, a shaft rotating in a bearing is supported by a layer or wedge of oil so the shaft is not in contact with bearing material. The surfaces are in sliding motion relative to each other. Lubrication theory for journal bearings describes the flow of fluids in which the fluid film lubricant thickness is far smaller than the dimensions of the bearing. A major focus in lubrication theory is to determine the pressure distribution in the fluid volume. In this way, the forces of the shaft being supported by the lubricant can be measured. A purpose of analyzing crankshaft bearings is to diminish friction and wear due to small film thicknesses [1]. The minimum film thickness of a journal bearing should be greater than the average asperity height (unevenness, roughness) of the journal bearing surface to prevent any surface contact, and consequently, avoid friction and wear. For journal bearing design, the minimum safe value for film thickness is 2.5 microns [2]. Values lower than this can create too low of supporting oil pressure and damage the journal bearing. Bearings in reciprocating machinery operate with dynamic loads creating large journal orbits within the bearing clearance, which is the distance between the radius of the bearing and the radius of the journal ... • 16. The Search For Happiness Happiness is something that everyone, regardless of their background and experiences, search for in life. This search for happiness is manifested in countless novels, theatrical plays, and films, and involves at least one character who struggles to find purpose and joy in their life. A common theme in these stories is the character s impression that there is something missing or inadequate with aspects of their current identity. Thus, they believe that they must complete the missing piece of themselves to achieve happiness. This is best demonstrated by Amedeo/Ahmed in A Clash of Civilizations Over an Elevator in Piazza Vittorio and Xavier in L Auberge Espagnole. I believe that one s conceptualization of their identity is actually an obstacle to happiness and that one can only be truly happy once they embrace their true identity, which is often much different from the one they imagine. A Clash of Civilizations Over an Elevator in Piazza Vittorio by Amara Lakhous focuses extensively on the importance of identity in one s life, mainly in relation to ethnicity and religion. Identity plays such an important role in the characters lives that it dominates the way the perceive each other, leading them to radical and often negative conclusions. For example, when interviewed about a murder, the character Benedetta makes statements like I m suspicious of that Albanian friend of Amadeo s (Lakhous 36) and I m sure the murderer of Lorenzo Manfredini is one of the immigrants (Lakhous ... Building A Safer Healthcare System Essay Discussion Current healthcare practices today have largely been influenced by the Institute of Medicine (IOM) 1999 report, To Err is Human: Building a Safer Healthcare System. This report delineated many weaknesses in the practice of medicine regarding the safety of patients within the healthcare industry. This report has increased public awareness regarding the need for transparency around reporting serious safety events as well as the need to implement best practices in an effort to increase patient safety. Additionally, Medicare initiatives support the need for increased quality of care as hospitals will suffer financial loss due to declining reimbursement for patient. Patient satisfaction and safety are imperative in order for care to be provided. One effort which can help support improvements in patient safety and quality of care is through hourly or intentional rounding on patients. This rounding practice amplifies the nurse patient relationship, provides continuity of care, increased safety, and service excellence. Intentional rounding or rounding with a purpose, can be a success, as long as nursing staff understand the full implications and the potential for positive outcomes, and take complete ownership of the rounding initiative. It is believed that privatization creates markets that allow companies to compete, and contribute to the economy. The idea is to cede ownership of public services to the private sector; where competition will drive innovation, and reduce costs for the government and the taxpayer alike. That being said, in some cases privatization does not create a real market where competition occurs, or is even feasible. Privatizing these services can deteriorate quality and increase costs for those who require their use. This way, it is possible to limit a service to those who can afford them. These privatized prisons are understaffed and poorly run. There are have been convicts escaping prison and minor offenders suffering in the hands of other prisoners (Krugman). These prisons also show very little reduction in costs, as opposed to state funded prisons and the little savings come from understaffing and underpaying their employees (Krugman). In this case, privatization was used for the benefit of private companies who are making a profit, as well as the government who does not have to invest money in prisons. However, this is done at the expense of those receiving the service. Moreover, privatization can limit a service to a certain group of people. As argued by Gary Haugen in The Privatization of Justice , private services can be limited to the wealthy. In many developing countries police enforcement is sometimes limited. Founded in 1956 by Jim Jones, the Peoples Temple accepted everyone into their church and focused on helping people in need. Jones originally established the Peoples Temple in Indianapolis, Indiana, but then moved it to Redwood Valley, California in 1966. Jones had a vision of a communist community, one in which everyone lived together in harmony and worked for the common good. (Rosenberg). In 1973, Jim Jones leased land in Guyana, South America for his dream community. Peoples Temple soon after sent out people to clear the land for homes and install fences for isolation. • 21. Professional Hockey Players In the world of professional sports, teams value youth, searching for the next super star. Whether it is inking the highly coveted free agent, or rebuilding through drafts, General Managers have put a premium on young athletes, hoping that these youngsters will become the face of the franchise. Age and experience has seem to taken a back seat for teams. While it is important to develop young prospects, veteran leadership is often hard to find during games, in the locker room, and particularly during the playoffs. There are four current players in the National Hockey League who are still excelling well into their 40 s, contributing on a nightly basis. They are Martin Brodeur, Teemu Selanne, Jaromir Jagr, and Daniel Alfredsson. Daniel Alfredsoon, the longtime captain of the Ottawa Senators, now plays for the Detroit Red Wings. Alfredsson is 41 years old and is currently second on the team this season in goals, having lit the lamp 17 times. With injuries to stars Pavel Datsyuk and Henrik Zetterberg, Alfredsson has been able to step up and provide the scoring that Detroit desperately sought when its two stars went down with injuries. He also has 26 assists on the season and is helping the Red Wings make a late season push for the playoffs. Alfredsson participated in his 5th Olympic games this February as a member of Sweden s team. He had four points in five games, registering two goals and two assists to help his country earn a silver medal after falling to Canada. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 22. Personal Responsibility Leads To Success Case Study Samuel Cedeno Gen/200 August 27, 2012 Instructor: Jennifer Smith Personal Responsibility Leads to Success Even though a person taking on too many responsibilities can lead to his or her downfall, personal responsibility can lead to success in higher education. Because responsibility is the force that binds an individual to the course of action demanded by the goal, personal responsibility can incur beneficial habits and admirable behaviors that will advocate successful outcome. The state of New York once sought to raise $24 million in donations to give to poor residents as an incentive to stay in school, stay at work, and stay on track (Traub, 2006). In this case study 554 students divided into teams in accordance with their performance. Equal parts high, average, and low performers. The teams engaged in class time, team discussions, and test, over three semesters with one variance the grading. In semester one, the team received 10 points bonus if the team raised their final grade by one point. In semester one, they made six points for team improvement and four points for individual improvement. In semester three, the students collected 10 points, but only if they accomplished both individual, and group improvement. The group would not collectively receive any points. This study found when high performance students benefited individually they improved, but when only the group benefited their scores suffered. The high performance students used their time reviewing material and helping the low performers understand the material. They lost their own time for review and henceforth their grades suffered. Conclusion In conclusion, Personal responsibility is composed of many tools that will allow an individual or team to succeed. Simply because it is, the force that keeps an individual on course with the end goal, using these tools will enable inherent success. The practice of setting goals can help one to keep focused on the task a hand, by knowing what goal a person is working at. Differences Of Animation From The East And Western Animation WESTERN ANIMATION AND EASTERN ANIMATION There is little or no indication of where animation would start, but possibly one the earliest form of animation would be shadow play in the east (especially in the southeast area) The uses of light to create images produced by shadows cast by certain objects onto a screen (with the illusion of movement). However, animation continues to grow even expanding continents and then modified to attain certain identities of each cultures. Here, I would try to compare animations from the west and the east. Experiments such as Clay Animation, Silhouette, and others challenge the critical minds of human all over the world, therefore could be the reason of western animation s rapid growth of popularity. Western animation is also the first to implement the famous computer generated three dimensional animation in animation history. • 26. How Did Akhenaten Changed Religion And Politics Within The... Akhenaten changed religion and politics within the Amarna period through his large scale religious and artistic reforms, decision to leave Thebes and make Amarna the capital and relations with third party powers in the ancient Near East. Early on in his reign Akhenaten began introducing new artistic styles, both in relation to religion and personal portrayals of the royal family. After moving the capital from Thebes to Amarna in search of new land on which to worship Aten (the God of sun/light) the artistic portrayal of the god changed to become one the most symbolic and abstract depictions of a God in Ancient Egypt (Weigall 1922, 120). The new depiction of Aten became a sun disc with long rays extending hands down to earth, and often to the royal family or the king himself. This can be thought of as symbolising the power given to the king by the Gods (Kempt 1989, 173). Akhenaten also introduced his own style of royal artwork, in which the royal family was represented in an exaggerated manner. The most notable of these exaggerations was the changes to facial features, such as the long skull and chin, and large oval eyes. This is thought to perhaps represent the separation of the royal family from everyday Egyptian people, however this contradicts with the meaning of another change to Amarna artwork, the personal, intimate portraits of the king s family life (Kempt 1989, 265). • 27. Adam And Eve Durer Analysis 1. The 2D engraving of Adam and Eve by Albrecht Durer caught my interest. The engraving illustrates Adam and Eve in a heavily wooded background surrounded by animals with precise detail. Proportion is used on the female and male bodies to represent the human body. Both individuals are larger than the animals to demonstrate that they are closer and the animals in the background are further from the audience s view. To increase the visually realistic representation both Adam and Eve resemble sculptures with the use the classical contrapposto in the 2D engraving. This creates a convincing illusion that their bodies are capable of movement. The dark and light is used to evoke a spooky appearance within the woods. Michelangelo s 3D marble sculpture of David also peaked my interest. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Michelangelo s passion for human anatomy and his deep knowledge of the male body allowed him to create a realistic sculpture of a man with pulsing veins. Proportion is used by increasing the size of the right hand to emphasize the importance of the stone in David s hand. I found the 2D oil on wood Portrait of Martin Luther by Lucas Cranach the Elder to be the least appealing. The artist s use of yellows, reds, and browns limits the paintings aesthetic appeal. The proportion in relation to his arms is too small for his body. His hands seem out of place in this portrait. The 3D marble pieta sculpture of in the Museo dell Opera del Duomo lacked variety in its color scheme. I disliked this sculpture due to its dark solid marble color which created a dull scene. It is a middle size classroom in the corner and next to a lounge area. I saw some of the students rehearsal their informative speech at the lounge when I arrived early and wait for Ning to come. Ning s class has 15 students with varying major background. On the day I visited, most of the students came to class on time. Three students arrived about 5 minutes late, and Ning said she would mark them as late. Ning told me that too many late marks would negatively affect the student s participation final grade. I learned a lot of teaching skills from Ning, such as how to start the class lively, how to organize student s speech and how to claim down students when facing unpredicted things. Ning started her class by showing a video clip of humorous talk show. I think it is an effective way to reduce student s pre performance anxiety. PPI Inhibitors Strategies to Identify PPI Inhibitors With the newfound understanding of PPIs, there have been increased efforts to further elucidate the mechanisms of PPIs, and the past decade and a half has seen significant progress in the field (Fig 3).27, 28 Attempts to inhibit PPIs have focused on two main interaction types: orthosteric and allosteric. Orthosteric interactions refers to competitive inhibition of the PPIs, by binding to one of the involved proteins and thus blocking the interface.
