Social Condition In Jane Eyre
Women were pressured to follow and obey the social conditions that were present during the
Victorian era. During the Victorian era when married, women would lose all right to their
possessions and property. Women belonged in the home and were classified as a Domestic Angel
or a Fallen Woman. The social conditions for women in the Victorian eraare acknowledge and
challenged by Charlotte Bronte in her novel Jane Eyre. Through Bronte s use of characters such as
Blanche, Bertha, and Jane she portrays the different social conditions each woman faced.
Bronte depicts the ideal Victorian woman, also known as a Domestic Angel , through her
description of the character Blanche. As described by Bronte in the novel, ... the three most
distinguished partly, perhaps, because the tallest figures of the band were the Dowager Lady
Ingram and her daughters, Blanche and Mary. They were all three of the loftiest stature of women,
(17). Bronte s use of words that coincide with the idealistic version of a woman during the
Victorian era describe how Blanche and her family were perceived by the other characters in the
novel. Bronte describes Blanche as the most distinguished women, consisting of the loftiest stature.
The ideal women during this time would be confined to her home to protect their innocence, moral,
and, domestic paragon. Women were a model of excellence in the home and were meant to stay
that way. When talking to her daughter, Blanche s mother Lady Ingram, says, You see

Macbeth Consequences
Every action has a consequence
Every action has a consequence, this statement relates to Shakespeare s play Macbeth , as
Macbeth is a tragic hero who destroys himself by his own wicked and selfish ambitions. At the
beginning of the play Macbeth is portrayed as a courageous, noble hero of Scotland who has
bravely won victory over the war. After this win, Macbethand Banquo come across three
supernatural beings who prophesies Macbeth s rein as king of Scotland. As the story unfolds, the
witches prophecy is proven to be correct and Macbeth soon becomes a tyrant king who is willing
to murder anyone who will bring his rein to an end. Macbeth s spouse, lady Macbeth is also shown
destroying her reputation of a noble woman through her barbaric actions. The statement every
action has a consequence also correlates to the film the lion king directed by Roger Allers and Rob
Minkoff. The similarities of scars reckless actions to lead Simba and Mufasa (the king) into a
stampede of wildebeests that ended in the death of Mufasa, is what led to scars downfall and death.
Therefore, Shakespeare play Macbeth implements the statement every action has a consequence
through various ways, many similar to the film the lion king.
Macbeth s actions are what lead to the consequence of death. His first significant choice that lead up
to his fatal consequence was to kill king Duncan. This ambition originated in the early stages of the
text when the witches caught the heroes attention by

The Diverse Roles of Women in Movies Essay
The Diverse Roles of Women in Movies
In society we have a lot of women actresses. Some tend to play the motherly type, some play the
manipulator type and some even play the victims of abusive relationships. No matter what women
seem to be coming up in the industry of movies in more ways than before. The three movies I have
chosen to analyze in my critique are Heartbreakers, Baby Boy and Stepmom. These three movies
all have women in them that either play a major role or the main role. All their roles are very
different in character and none of the women in these three movies play a similar role.
In the movie Heartbreakers the two main women are Jennifer Love Hewitt (the daughter) and
Sigourney Weaver (the mother). These two ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The second movie in which a woman plays a major role in is Baby Boy. This movie, I believe
did not do too much damage to the box offices when it first came out, but it sure portrayed
women in a very negative way. The main character is actually a man by the name of Tyrese
Gibson. He plays a boy who is struggling to grow up and become not only an independent adult,
but also a responsible father (to more than one child). The main female role in the movie is
Tyrese s baby s mother. She is in love with him and would do anything to keep him happy. She let
s him use her car and she let s him stay at her place at any time with her and their son. He cheats
on her a lot and at one point even hits her. This was a major part in the movie. He had promised
her he would never lay his hands on her and he did. She stopped talking to him for quite some
time, and that whole time you could sense they were both miserable without eachother. Some men
tend to hurt women for the simple facts that they just don t know how to control their anger or
because they were never taught good communication skills. They end up telling one another that
they can t live without each other and they get back together. She ends up getting pregnant by him
again and they get married and live happily ever after. Moral of the story: Teens trying to balance

The American Dream In Nickel And Dimed By Barbara Ehrenreich
One new experience can bring a whole other dimension. Viewpoints on life change, knowledge is
gained through mistakes, and one may find themselves trapped in a maze like situation that they
need to find a way out of. However, making the best out of one s position through determination,
perseverance, and courage can slowly reverse the difficulty of handling it. Eventually, as strength is
regained from tough obstacles, the desire to obtain their dreams escalates even further, which aids
in working harder and striving to reach their goals. Barbara Ehrenreich, the author of Nickel and
Dimed, depicts the financial struggles of single mothers who raise their families through minimum
wagejobs after the welfare reform affected their lifestyles. In the novel, Ehrenreich tests the limits of
living in poverty by accepting any scarce job that was offered, and provides insight that although it
was exhausting to balance her needs and her hectic work schedule, by diligently laboring, constantly
persisting in seeking the better, and voicing out the wrongs, it can eventually lead to the attainment
of the American Dream. Through the struggles of stabilizing two jobs at once while searching for a
temporary home, Ehrenreich displayed the frustration of sticking to her three guidelines in her
experiment: she cannot go hungry, be homeless, or ignore the skills she learned through her
education and past work experiences. She struggled to find jobs that provided more than minimum
wage incomes in

Blankets, By Craig Thompson
The graphic novel Blankets, by Craig Thompson, is an emotionally charged and painfully truthful
account of the author s life as he grew from a young child through the stages of adolescence to
young adulthood. Thompson s account of his life events represents many developmental theories
and philosophies. Bronfenbrenner s theory of systems, Vygotsky s social development theory,
Marcia s theory of the identity, Arnett s theory of emerging adulthood, and Kraft s theory of the
family system are all seen throughout Craig s life. Urie Bronfenbrenner presented his theory of
ecological systems in 1979. In his theory, Bronfenbrenner claims that there are four systems that
work in concert with one another to affect the behavior of an individual (Lobb, 2016). The four
systems that Bronfenbrenner posed were the microsystem, relatable to one s home, the mesosystem,
considered one s home and school, the exosystem, which are organizations outside of school, and
the macrosystem, which involves the government. While the fourth system is not quite present in
Craig s life, the other three are readily recognizable.
As to the microsystem, it can be observed from his home life that Craig s family is of a low
socioeconomic status. Pictures from pages 10 and 11 show that Craig and his brother were forced
to share the same bed as children and that the furniture of their room, specifically the lamp seen on
page 11, was not in pristine condition. Furthering the notion that Craig s family fell within a

Ethical Leadership In The Island And Kurt Vonnegut s The...
According to the Oxford Dictionary, Ethical Leadership is leadership that is directed by respect
to embrace the ethical beliefs and values as well as the dignity and rights of others. However, not
all leaders are driven by their moral principles given that authoritative people can often be selfish
and inconsiderate of the people under their control. In The Island, a film directed by Michael
Bay, Dr. Merrick, the founder of Merrick Biotech, is in control of secretly bred clones. Similarly,
Kurt Vonnegut s All the King s Horses, characterizes a Colonel named Bryan Kelly who
dominates sixteen other Americans. A leader s exertion of power to manipulate others is
commonly discerned in a negative and invidious way. Nonetheless, this notion is challenged as
it pertains to both the film and the story in different ways. Although both works exhibit a leader s
manipulation of humans for one s personal gain, The Island portrays a superior, Dr. Merrick as
an unethical leader, whereas All the King s Horses shows a manipulator, Colonel Bryan Kelly,
who abides the moral principles of an ethical leader. Should thesis specify what makes the leader
ethical? The Island manifests an unethical leader, Dr. Merrick, who dictates the lives of the
clones, not with the purpose of improving and facilitating the clone s lifestyle, but solely for the
purpose of earning a profit. Dr. Merrick is the leader of all the clones and everyone under his
control depend on him to keep them healthy.

Science, Religion, Politics And The Arts Of Modern Europe
Science, Religion, Politics and the Arts of Modern Europe In early modern European society, many
factors induced the rise of the middle class. Aside from the trade markets and early industrialism,
quickly changing thoughts regarding science, God, man and the cosmos propelled political
philosophies into uncharted territories. Modern thinking led to the philosophical writings which
helped usher in the acceptance of these thoughts to much of society. Science and religion were the
hinges to the new political environment; all of these changes in society greatly affected the many
works of painters, sculptors, novelists, poets, musicians, film makers and architects. This period
was one of great instability and monumental changes within attitudes of politics and the common
man s role in the universe. The rise of the middle class started from capitalism beginnings during
the exploration and trade start up throughout Europe. Merchants steadily increased income,
providing for more power in communities. This moved much of what was known as the peasant
class to a middle class. The industrial revolution also contributed to the middle class surge in
Europe. The growth of businesses and of government activities increased the need for professional
people, and relevant educational opportunities expanded sometimes faster still (Stearns, 116). In
some of Europe, the middle class were known as the bourgeois. These were the leaders of
companies, as well as some of the workforce within the

Eloquent Feelings And Safe Places
Eloquent Feelings and Safe Places Stephen Dunn s poems makes sure to let the reader stop and
think, and as a creative writing teacher he knows how to do just that. Winner of awards such as the
Pulitzer Prize for Poetry, The James Wright Prize ,and the Paterson Award for Sustained Literary
Achievement , his work The Sacred , published back in 1989, shows off his literary genius in
normal experiences and captures the vehement thoughtin his writing that has captured many hearts
of the readers. The Sacred speaks about what a student believes is his sacred space, and what it
means to him. Dunn uses three core poetic devices to not only show that everyone needs an
escape from reality, but also the herd mentality of youth when one has confidence. The nihilistic
ending and the free form moderate style add to the ideals that Dunn tries to present and helps add
a twist ending to the poem when you see the lack of desire for social interactions in the young man
who was the first to speak up. The contrast between his outer presentation and his inside emotions
are shown strongly between the first and second half, as if he only spoke up to get it over with .
The enjambment that pushes through the whole poem create a string of consciousness feeling, as if
a person in the class is slightly nervous to share his response. In the beginning of the poem, Dunn
shows how much this student takes his

What Are The Ethics Of Computer Ethics
Computer Ethics
Computer ethics is the systematic study of the ethical and social impact of computers in the
information society. The ethical and social issues under discussion involve the acquisition,
distribution, storage, processing and dissemination of digital data in information systems and how
individuals and groups interact with these systems and data. The moral considerations of computer
ethics are related to the responsibility and accountability of the computer users and professionals
with regard to the design and implementation of information systems. Computer ethics also includes
the study of the policies, rules, and legislations that refer to a particular situation and the alternative
ethical decisions, as well as the social implications of these alternatives. Computers are a special
technology and they raise some special ethical issues. Computer ethics are the moral guidelines that

The Importance Of The Economic Crisis
During the first couple of years following the economic crisis of 2008, the media was full of
stories featuring Americans nearing retirement age whose 401(k) accounts had lost a significant
amount of money. For example, in 2009, ( removed HTML ) CBS ( removed HTML )

percent or more. Many expressed their disappointment that the dream retirement they had

Companies are not out to sabotage the retirements of former employees. If you consider the matter
from the company s perspective, there is a certain logic involved. A 401(k) is a benefit offered to
employees, but once a worker leaves, the company likely does not want to keep incurring the
expenses involved to maintain the accounts for former employees. Because the Department of
Labor guidelines instruct employers to prevent exposing the money of employees to risky
investments, employers simply choose a safe investment such as an IRA.
Rolling over a 401(k) can be a complicated matter. Many people find that the logistics are too
difficult for them to manage, so they either cash out the account or end up collecting a number of
small dollar 401(k) accounts during their working years. Instead of their retirement savings
growing, they are disappearing.
The primary issue is the failure to deploy adequate technology. In many countries, a central pension
registry allows employers and workers to track where the money is and to whom it belongs. Often,
the system proactively rolls accounts into a centralized program that leverages scale to help
produce better returns. When considering who should be responsible for a pension clearinghouse,
the obvious candidate is the Social Security Administration. After all, this is the agency that tracks
every individual s earnings to determine their retirement and disability payments. Unfortunately, the
agency has

Categorization Of Intriguing Compounds Lab Report
The Categorization of Intriguing Substances An ionic compound is the electrostatic attraction
between protons and electrons that are transferred between two atoms. Ionic bonds occur with a
metal and a nonmetal atom. Metals lose electrons to create cations, while nonmetals gain electrons
to make anions. Covalent compounds occur only in nonmetals, which is characterized by the
sharing of pairs of electrons between atoms and other covalent bonds. Additionally, the melting and

On the other hand, covalent compounds may take the form of either solid, liquid, or gas; moreover,

ionic compounds dissolved in water make an electrically conductive solution, which are able to

Gargantua And Pantagruel
Through numerous fruitless consulting of authority, the figure of authority is depicted as unhelpful,
ignorant and self centered in the second half of the third book of Rabelais Gargantua and
Pantagruel. Montaigne not only indicates similar possible problems of the authority as Rabelais
does, but also provides corresponding solutions to such problems in his On Educating Children. I
will argue that, basing on Montaigne s solutions, one can convert unhelpful, ignorant and self
centered authorities in Gargantua and Pantagruelinto ones that are so beneficial and significant that
can effectively promote learning. Rabelais holds a totally critical and satirical attitude towards the
contribution of authority to learning, but Montaigne, on the opposite,... Show more content on

keep going and to make stronger and log term alliances with the current sponsors, as well as with
the TV partners the Club has. The stadium has just been rebuilt so besides the promotion that
Manchester can make, there are not additional changes that can substantially help the already huge

One Tree Hill Analysis
One Tree Hill There are always stereotypes in high school. People are placed into groups. You re
a jock, you re a cheerleader, you re a freak, you re into the drama department. I had a lot of
trouble fitting into those groups when I was in high school because I wanted to be a part of all of
them. One Tree Hill represents people who are multidimensional and who like more than one thing.
Hilarie Burton, who plays Peyton Sawyer, says it perfectly herself. One Tree Hillshows diversity
among all. The use of every stereotype is used in this series to allow every viewer feel as though
they have a place, making the show significant for young adult viewers especially. The main
characters in the show are all friends, yet they all have different interests. Despite the drama,
relatable for any high school viewer. While other shows place teens into certain stereotypical
groups, One Tree Hill does just the opposite by allowing everyone to be themselves. Dissimilar
from most shows on television and stereotypes of high school, One Tree Hill does a substantial
work of portraying the diversity of all people by bringing all together.
Peyton Sawyer is not like any typical highschool girl. She is a cheerleader but also enjoys making
dark art. Naturally, she is in her room listening to punk rock music and drawing. Peyton is pretty
uncheery (if one asks Lucas Scott). Therefore, she doesn t come off as the cheerleader type. The
only reason that she is a cheerleader is because her

Essay about Cooperative Learning
Cooperative Learning During the weekend I spent learning about the theories and structures of
cooperative learning, I was captivated by five components of cooperative learning. I intend to use
these five in my own classroom. They begin with the introduction games Pleased to Meet You and
Knotting Acquaintance followed by the creation of basegroups and finally STAD and TGT. These
are five basic, yet exciting ways to use cooperative groups in the classroom.
I will use the first two introduction games at the start of the school year, because students are
nervous about the start of school and these games are great for breaking the ice. I would start with

I like the base group because it gives the students a home. The base groups help open the door to
getting the cooperative learning going. The length of time that the base groups will stay together
depends on the climate in the classroom. If I have selected well and the groups have been
successful I might be inclined to let them work together up to the midpoint of the school year.
The base groups will merely serve as a home. Depending on the activity the class is doing I will use
ad hoc groups and Formal learning groups.
In the Formal learning groups, as well as in the ad hoc and the base groups, I will employ two
types of group activities the STAD system and the TGT system.
The Student Team Achievement System (STAD) is a five part system with proven effectiveness
in Language Arts, Social Studies, Mathematics and Science. The groups are set up
heterogeneously and presented with new material. The next step is to have the learners practice
the material within their group. It is the responsibility of the group to be sure all group members
have received the information and have a clear understanding of it. Once the groups have had
sufficient time to practice, the teacher gives the students individual quizzes. The quizzes are
scored and the learners earn points for their group. The points earned by the group members are
based on their level of improvement over their base score; their average score on the previous
quizzes. The base score could also be established by

The Court Of Justice Of The European Union
Jaouad El Majdoub v. CarsOnTheWeb.Deutschland GmbH.
Judgement of the Court of Justice of the European Union (Third Chamber) of 21 May 2015
I.Introduction
With its almost recent ruling the Court of Justice of the European Union (hereinafter, CJEU) in the
case of Jaouad El Majdoub has focused on the concept of click wrapping agreement and its
compatibility with Article 23(2) of the Brussels I Regulation. Exclusively, the question of whether
the jurisdiction clauses which are incorporated within the general terms and conditions of the
electronic contracts via click wrapping method could be regarded as a durable record. The case
that was referred for a preliminary ruling to the CJEU by the Landgricht Krefeld German Court was

III.Procedural History
As to the matter of jurisdiction, El Majdoub alleged that the Landgricht Krefeld is the competent
court to proceed with the case because, Cotw as the defendant in the main proceedings is the party
to the sale contract which has been concluded between them also it is based in Germany (not in
Belgium).
On the contrary, Cotw argued that the courts in Germany are not competent authority to proceed
with the case based on two reasons. Firstly, on the website there is an agreement within Article 7 of
the general terms and conditions of online sales contracts that grants the jurisdiction to a court in
Leuven, Belgium. Furthermore, the defendant in the main proceedings contended that the real
party to the contract is the mother company which is established in Belgium while the plaintiff in
the main proceedings is well aware of that because the invoice which was sent to him contained the
contract details of the mother company and the money was paid to a Belgian bank account.
In spite of this, El Majdoub argued that the choice of court agreement acknowledged in Article 7
is not in writing, so it does not comply with Article 23(1) (a) of the Brussels I Regulation. In
addition, the general terms and conditions of the sale contract were incorporated in a webpage

Cyber Security Attacks And Intrusion Detection System
Threats to critical information and systems have been evolving as the need to store information in
the database increases. As technology increases in a rapid pace, so does the number of computer
users. With this increase of users, the number of targets that presents itself for exploitation surges.
Although, the types of targets and attacks change, classifications of attacks remain the same;
exploiting user errors, hardware resources malfunction, and software weaknesses/glitches.
Government and corporate agency have developed analysis of a variety of cyber attacks and how
it affects certain environments or individuals in a real world situation. The main goal is for these
agencies to focus on how network simulation model have been developed for generating
representative cyber attacks and intrusion detection system. While variety of models is primarily
designed to be used in testing cyber situational awareness and analysis tools, other applications can
be utilized such as training analysts or public presentation could be an effective use of the model.
Cyber securitythreats in the 21st century are in its early stages, mainly because government or
corporate officials do not have the proper understanding of what is needed to develop a cyber
security program or where to initiate the program for their agency or company. Public views of
misconception will give new understanding on how severe cyber threats can develop within society
and how individuals need to be familiarized in

Visual Elements In The Film Casablanca
The film, Casablanca, focuses on Rick, who faces lost love, honor and duty, self sacrifice, and
romance, all within a world currently filled with chaos. The bar scene, where Rick drinks alone
after his club closes, represents the sadness he feels after encountering an old acquaintance Ilsa
Lund, his former lover. During the scene, Sam plays As Time Goes by again, the searchlight
circles around the club, and Rick thinks about the past, just before Ilsa comes to see and talk to
him. The mise en scГЁne of the bar scene following Laszlo and Ilsa leaving Rick s nightclub
illustrates the shift of Rick s former character to the man the audience currently sees.
Casablanca contains brilliant visual elements. It is a romantic drama that takes place during
World War II, in a city controlled by France called Casablanca. The city is filled with refugees
who are trying to escape to the United States, dealers selling letters of transit, and French and
German officials. In the beginning of the bar scene, Rick says, Of all the gin joints in all the towns
in all the world, she walks into mine. This incorporates the idea of coincidence in the film. In an
essay written by Bordwell and Thompson, The later in the film a coincidence occurs, the weaker
it is; and it is very unlikely that the story will be resolved by coincidence (13). It explains how ...

The Importance Of A Simple War Game On A Grid
Description: In this project, I paired up with Ryan Thomson to design a game with about 15
minute time limit. The prompt was to make a simple war game on a grid. At the beginning, we
just came up with some simple rule to begin the game because we knew that we will improve the
rule after we played the game. One of the most important that I learned during I was working on
this project is that playable games take time and testing. It is okay to start with a simple game
idea, and we will improve on it later. Out first draft games were expected to suck, which is going
to be a lot of error and unclear rule, and it also won t be able to play through the end. It helps that
we did not put too much pressure on ourselves. The war game is a common structure with grid
movement Mechanism on the board games. It has grid on board, and all the objects can move
along with the line in many directions.
Materials Required:
Grid Game Board
14 nickels, 14 pennies
2 dices
2 players
10 15 minutes
Goal: You are in a war, so you need to capture the other army in order to win the battle.
Setup:
Each player has an army, which is 14 soldiers for each side (Nickels and Pennies)
Set 10 nickels and pennies for each side on the 2 lines at the end of each side, and each player keep
4 nickels and pennies to resurrect if need.
Both players need to roll dices to find out who go first and choose a place to reborn soldiers in their
side.
Rule:
Each player s turn can last no longer than 30

New Forms And Models Of Church
In thinking about the potential for new forms and models of church, we must first articulate what
the goals are for this church as well as for the community. With respect to the church, one of the
main emphases at this time according to judicatory, is to care for the congregation. The second
goal for the church is to develop a new ministry plan that is more extensive than the previous plan.
The third and final goal is to organize work in the community. These goals will guide the
possibilities for new forms and models of church. Another aspect of this church that forms the
discussion of the models and forms of church is the idea that this is a Community church. [1] What
this means is that this is a church that is intentional about being... Show more content on

While as the case mentions, this will evolve as time goes on, this congregation will begin on this
goal by intentional steps for the many different members to get to know each other more deeply
in order to become a community. This could be as simple as sitting with someone new in worship
each week, or sticking around for a few minutes after the service to talk to someone new. This begs
the question, of how will this intentional focus be initiated? It will be initiated by the pastors that
rotate in the pulpit, by the teaching and preaching on the focus of becoming a community and how
this is important for the congregation. For example, a sermon or sermon series could be on Paul s
words in Corinthians about the body[3] and how that understanding can be the fundamental for
understanding what community means in the congregation. In addition, there is also a form within
the model of community that is important. This form is a congregation that has Open hearts, open
minds, open doors. [4] What this form will look like is a church that is inviting and welcoming of
all peoples either already in the congregation or if they are new and come into the congregation.
The bottom line is that while of course, the pastors shall care for the congregation, especially in the

American Born Chinese Identity Essay
Being raised by immigrant parents, I had a difficult time to accept myself and the identity with my
culture. I was frustrated with the pressure to assimilate into the American culture, while I was
expected to hold onto to my own Indian heritage. I was stuck in a constant dilemma to choose
between two cultures. In Yang s graphic novel, The American Born Chinese, I was able to connect
with Jin Wang as he was going through an identity crisis with his own cultureand heritage. Being
frustrated with his true identity, Jin transformed himself to Danny, his fantasy All American alter
ego. Although Jin Wang tried to disguise his Chinese identity to become a normal American
teenager, the author pressurizes Jin to embrace his racial identity because it is inevitable to

Three events are associated with the Cuban Missile Crisis: superpower tension, the domestic
situation in Cuba, and the Bay of Pigs incident. The ideological competition between Russia and the
U.S. was exemplified in the arms, nuclear and space race, the funding of anti Communists by the
U.S., the unsuccessful Vienna Summit of 1961 and the construction of the Berlin Wall.
In 1958, Kruschev had asked NATO to give up West Berlin to East Germany and by the summer of
1961, Kruschev and Kennedy met during the Vienna Summit, where Kruschev insisted upon East
German control over West Berlin. On August 13, the Soviets and East Germans built a wall that
limited free means of access between the Western and Eastern zones. American and Soviet forces
confronted each other at Checkpoint Charlie, which controlled the passage across.
The U.S. eventually agreed with the wall s construction in November 1961, resolving the Berlin
Crisis. However, Kruschev had not yet gotten what he wanted. According to him, the installation of
Soviet missiles in Cuba could be to negotiate over Berlin. Kennedy might replace the removal of
Soviet Cuban missiles with retreat from West Berlin.

Dred Scott V. Sandford Research Paper
Dred Scott V. Sandford Research Paper It was the year of 1857 and a robust wind blew through
the South as the air was filled with both victory and horrific disappointment. An ordinary man
named Dred Scott began his journey for his rights of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.
Scott s struggle for freedom would come to make him one of the most famous plaintiffs in
American history and a worldwide symbol for emancipation. Scott happened to be of African
descent which was an extremely difficult obstacle to live with in early America. The Dred Scott
decision made by the supreme court in March of 1857 negatively impacted the United States by
empowering the South, contributing to the secession, and expediting the Civil War. Dred Scott
was forced to travel around with his owner, a United States army surgeon, Dr. John Emerson. Dr.
Emerson was assigned to Fort Armstrong located in Illinois. As of 1818, when Illinois became a
state, its state constitution declared it a free state (Gunderson 16). Although illegal, Scott was
still forced to work as a slave for his master. Dr. Emerson soon requested a transfer from Fort
Armstrong which was quickly answered; his new post was at Fort Snelling. Fort Snelling was
located in a newly created Wisconsin Territory near present day St. Paul, Minnesota where slavery
had been banned since 1820 (Gunderson 16). As Dr. Emerson continued to be dissatisfied with
many of the forts he traveled without his slaves for a while and met his wife

Disadvantages Of Plastic Vs Plastic
In modern times, there are numerous materials used to make the everyday necessities we need in
life such as our phones, clothes, shoes, plastic bags, and many more. However we could narrow the
materials down to metal based products, polymer based products/ plastics, and cellulose based
products/paper. To narrow things even down further so that we could have an argument, plasticand
cellulose could both be used to make the same type of material such as containersfor juice,
containers for food, chairs, tables and many more. With this, we could now compare if plastic or
paper is the better material to make our basic necessities. I would say that plastic would be better
because of its durability, energy efficiency in making plastics, and the ability to mold plastic.
First of all, plastic materials are more durable because of their physical property. The perfect
example for this would be the paper ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
People would say that plastic in landfills would just stay there and if we keep on using plastic the
waste problem would just worsen. I think that the problem here is why do people put plastics in
landfills mixed with biodegradable materials. There are ways to properly recycle plastic. This
comes to my third argument for why plastic beats paper. It is better because we could change its
physical shape to things we really need. Richard Stein, from the University of Massachusetts,
stated that plastics could be melted and formed into different structures such as propellers for
wind turbines, food containers and many more [3]. Imagine being able to reuse plastic as long as
the quality of it can still be recyclable, but if it isn t anymore, Richard Stein also suggested that
plastic could be converted to energy by burning it since it is made of petroleum [3].
To conclude, plastic is better than paper because it saves energy in production, is durable, can be
recycled, and can be transformed into energy. I rest my

Limitations Of Wireless Communication
INTRODUCTION
There are lots of challenges occurs for reliable wireless communication which occurs due to
physical limitations of the wireless medium. There has been massive growth occurs in wireless
communication which is due to the techniques that improves spectral efficiency and mitigate
various channel impairments such as fading and interference. Moreover there is always demand for
high speed wireless internet and technologies which are capable of providing higher capacities and
link reliabilities. Multiple input multiple output (MIMO) is based on communication system which
is able to fulfil these objectives. MIMO is an expansion of smart antennas systems. There were
traditional smart antennas which occupy multiple antennas at receiver, whereas In MIMO system
multiple antennas are engaged at both sides at transmitter as well as receiver side. The multiple
antennas at the transmitter and the receiver side provide a major advantage over traditional smart
antenna systems in terms of capacity and diversity advantage. The multipath propagation by MIMO
system is a remarkably advantage over other antennas system. Moreover it is able to provide
independent fading channels between every pair of transmitter and receiver antennas.
The rapid improvement in communication system with high data rates and improved channel
capacity has pondered towards the study of both theoretical and practical in wireless

Summary Of On Dumpster Diving
In 1993, Lars Eighner, a homeless college dropout, published his memoir titled Travels with
Lizbeth. Within, an essay titled On Dumpster Diving shares his experiences and how they define
his identity. Eighner views identity not solely on his status of a scavenger, but rather on how his
experiences shape his identity and how he acts despite his circumstances. Similarly, as a student,
my own identity is not based on my status, but rather on how my behavior is shaped in my
situations. The identities of individuals are defined by how they live, how they react, and how they
behave in all circumstances, not on their status or profession. Throughout Eighner s essay, he
utilizes various strategies to explain the process of Dumpster divingand how his personal
experiences have shaped his own identity. Starting with a narrative, the author describes his passion
for Dumpsters and his financial reasons for becoming a scavenger. Transitioning into a didactic
tone, Eighner then defines various terms surrounding this idea of Dumpsterdiving and contrasts the
meaning of a scavenger and scrounger. To him, scavenging is a sound and honorable niche (55),
while scrounging is crude and demeaning. After comparing the motives of Dumpster divers with
average people, he discusses various foods found in Dumpsters and the processes needed to ensure
safe and healthy consumption. With a negative attitude towards ignorant college students and

Project Management Plan For Projects Essay
Project Procurement Management
Name: Artemus Brown
American Military University
1.1. Project management plan
Project management plays a vital part in planning and determining the project s directions and it
likewise guarantees that project can be executed on budget, on time and meet organization s
requirements. (Bernard David, 2003) Thus, clear vision, plan and strategy ought to be resolved to
know that project ought to be controlled (Holland, 1999).
The project management plan should obviously clear up how the craved objectives can be
accomplished. There are three frequently interrelated and contending objectives in project
management that ought to be met: Cost, scope and time. (Bhatti, 2005)
The projects are constantly assessed in light of the accomplishment of particular objectives, to be
specific; cost, time spent and scope. So higher level of responsibility of these triple requirements is
considered as project management s essential elements of project management, which implies
adjusting trade offs in the middle of cost and time, furthermore, performance while in the long run
fulfilling the clients. (Erik Clifford, 2011)
Manager of the project ought to contemplate the realistic way of triple constrains. For example, if
the timelines are very tight and the project scope is very large it will be difficult to reach the
expected and desired result. As a result, the manager of the project continually settles on tradeoff
choices among these three

Intimate Partner Violence Problem Statement
Problem Statement
Around the world, one in every three women has been coerced into having intercourse, beaten, or
abused during some point in her lifetime (Domestic Violence Statistics, 2015). The topic that will
be studied with the paper is intimate partner violence or another term that can be used is domestic
violence. Domestic violence or intimate partner violence is the systematic pattern or control or
power perpetuated by one partner against another (National Coalition Against Domestic Violence,
n.d.). Throughout the paper the term domestic violence and intimate violence will be used
interchangeably. The misconception is that domestic violence or intimate partner violence is only
between two people in a romantic relationship, but this is not so. Domestic violence includes, but is
not limited to child abuse, elder and vulnerable adult abuse, spousal or partner abuse, and sibling
violence (Can Fam Physician, 1999). This behavior can include but is not limited to sexual assault,
intimidation, and physical assault (National Coalition Against Domestic Violence, n.d.). Reports
from 10 countries have shown that somewhere between 55 and 95 percent of women who
experience physical abuse by a partner had never contacted the police, shelters, or other

To support this argue we have to highlight the contention of the ads. The similarities are showing
that the drinks are refreshing and will crush any thirst you have. Therefor the intention is the same
because they both share the same interest. They both want you to buy their product because it s
refreshing and brakes down any thirst you have. The only thing different between these two ads is
that one uses sex appeals and celebrity s and the other one uses strength and amazing athleticism to

Recrystallization Of Organic Chemistry Lab Report

TA: Benjamin Pollard
Experiment 4: Recrystallization of Pure Phthalic Acid, Benzoic Acid and Naphthalene
Introduction Section
Recrystallization is a technique frequently used in organic chemistry to purify solid organic
compounds. The goal of this technique is to allow organic compounds to form crystal lattice
structures, and to remove any of the impurities that do not align within this crystal structure.1 The
theory behind recrystallization revolves around entropy; as heat will cause a organic compound to
dissolve (increase in entropy), a decrease in heat will then allow that organic compound to reform
(decrease in entropy) and become purer.2
The recrystallization technique utilizes the ability of a compound to dissolve within a hot solvent
and produce a solution. As this solution cools, the solute reforms without impurities in a crystal
lattice structure.1 For this to work properly, an appropriate solution that will not dissolve the solute
at low temperatures, but will at high temperatures, must be used.1 There is no single solvent that
will work well for every solute s recrystallization; different solvents are better suited for some
solutes than others.2 Some impurities that do not dissolve within the solvent can be filtered out
while the solution is still hot, while other impurities that readily dissolve within the solvent shouldn
t recrystallize with the pure substance (as they are not concentrated enough to

American Mafia vs. Italian Mafia in Cinema Essay
The gangster genre within films in America has accomplished numerous positive criticisms and
constant willing audiences due to containing outstanding spectacles and mind blowing action. The
Godfather, being second on the IMDb Top 250 Movies, has set a new popular concept to life
within the Mafia from their point of view. Doing so, creating a positive association. Yet within
Italy, the same topic contains a complete different view. Movies such as I Cento Passi demonstrate
unenthusiastic view by those whom are outside yet negatively affected by those members. Unlike
American films, the gangsters are not as often viewed at the protagonist and are the main causes for
the problematic events. But how different is Italian Mafiaand American... Show more content on

I Cento Passi (one hundred steps), written by Marco Tullio Giordana in 2000, is a film of an
explosive story of betrayal, murder, intrigue and the Mafia, set in Cinisi, a small Sicilian
seaside. The town is run and controlled by head of the mafia, Don Tano. Peppino Impastato, a
real character in history, fought against the mafia, despite his family s connection and finally
became a martyr for his cause. At a young age he became very aware of the harsh reality of the
Mafia when his uncle, who he dearly loved, was blown up by a car bomb. He becomes a very
active member of the Communist party in Sicily and fought back against the Mafia, which few
Italians would ever do at the time or even in the present.
Thinking back to the first time watching The Godfather, the plot repeatedly wraps around the idea
of family and business. Yet the two do not reflect the central theme of the film. Death and betrayal
are foreshadowed in the cryptic dialogue, the baroque, pathos laced scenery, and in the very nature
of the incestuous institution of family in La Mafia (Russo p 37). Constantly seen is death being a
symbol and a theme within the film itself. The brutal violence, settled vendettas, and acts of murder
are either demonstrated, talked about, or become the reason or many focus in almost every scene.
One symbol of death in the film is the oranges, which appear in many scenes. Initially, it is hard to
catch the first time viewing the

This can also refer to the demographical segmentation, because a person s lifestyle is determined
by factors like age, gender and location.
Beyond the Bean has a very wide range of potential customers. It is appropriate for any lifestyle.
Whether you are young of old, male or female, everyone needs entertainment and social interaction.
Behavioral:
This type of segmentation is about the buying behavior of the consumers. In this case, it is about
how people behave in terms of entertainment and social interaction.
This graph shows the size of the entertainment industry. It shows that, even in the economic crisis,
the market still remained constant, which is very remarkable. This shows that entertainment is a
must for people, and that they spend money on it, even when the economy is not at its best.
Customer Needs
Humans have various needs, physical, social and individual. They have the need to interact with
others and to entertain themselves. Beyond the Bean offers these needs by providing people the
opportunity to have a drink and/or to play games together.
Competitor Analysis
Strategy
Greig and Peck have already done some research about who their competitors will be. They see
Fleetway and Palasad North as their direct competitors and Tim Hortons, Starbucks and William s

Advantages Of Anti-Competitive Agreement
CHAPTER IV
ANTI COMPETITIVE AGREEMNENT
People of the same trade seldom meet together, even for merriment and diversion, but the
conversation ends in a conspiracy against the public, or in some contrivance to raise prices.
While doing business in India, parties are prohibited from executing anti competitive agreements.
Generally, the agreements which cause or are likely to cause appreciable adverse effect on
competition ( AAEC ) are anti competitive agreements. However, the Competition Act, 2002 ( Act )
recognizes intellectual property rights and to facilitate their protection, the Act permits reasonable
restrictions imposed by their owners. Similarly, the Act exempts agreements between exporters as
exports do not impact markets in India. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The most obvious example would be that of agreements between enterprises dealing in the same
products. However, in general, it is important to define the relevant market(s). To attract the
provision of the law, the products must be substitutes. Being at the same stage of the production
chain implies that the parties to the agreement are both (all) producers, or retailers or wholesaler.
As has been interpreted over the years in the U.S. (and enacted more recently in other countries) a
dissention is drawn in this regard between horizontal and vertical agreements. In certain
circumstances it can be established that firms that are collaborating on some socially valuable
activity may need to agree to do away with competition so to establish the cooperative
relationship. In this, the European Community law goes beyond the objective of maximizing
welfare and explicitly allows some Restrictive contracts if they promote progressiveness and
consumers ultimately stand to gain. The Japanese law also allows for actions in contravention of
the law provided they are in the public interest . It would be dangerous to allow the kind of
discretion in interpretation possible under the Japanese law. Any exceptions that are permissible
should be clearly laid down. However, we recommend that Restrictive contract which are designed
to promote use of energy efficient manufacturing processes and production of Eco friendly products
or conservation of natural resources should be explicitly permitted as

Colonism In Europe
It is evident that in 16th century Europe there existed both the motivation and the means to explore
and colonize territory across the seas. As it can be said, With the dawn of the 16th century, there
came together in Europe both the motivation and the means to explore and colonize territory
across the seas. This statement is true to a large extent, especially in the areas of trade and
technology. The physical means to explore and colonize came from the advances in technology that
the Europeans had gone through, allowing them to sail far across the oceans and take over native
populations easily. The motivation, on the other hand, came from trade related reasons, such as the
desire to trade new resources, to find gold, and to find new trade routes. Without the technology or
trade at the dawn of the 16th century, there would not have been the means nor the motivation for
Europeans to explore and colonize the New World. First, the Europeans had the means to explore
and colonize the New World mainly because of their advances in technology. As Schweikart put it,
a wide range of technologies coalesced to encourage long range voyages of discovery. For example,
the Arabs development of the astrolabe helped sailors establish the sun s altitude above the horizon.
Vikings farther north introduced new methods of hull construction, allowing vessels to withstand
violent ocean storms. Sailors on the Baltic coast tinkered with larger and more controlled ship
designs. Improved ships

Theme Of Masculinity In Fight Club
The crisis of masculinity in the novel Fight Club. All societies have cultural accounts of gender, but
not all have the concept of masculinity . Within popular culture, the media have also come across
the perceived crisis of masculinity newspapers, documentaries and talk shows have increasingly
pondered over the changing meaning of manhood in our modern age. Research and critical studies
into men and asculinity has originated as one of the most emerging areas of sociological
investigation. Masculinity is an area of sociology that has, since the mid 1950s, drawn on many
theories, including structural functionalism, Marxism, psychoanalysis, critical
structuralism, andmost recently,... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
During the post feminist era of victimization (of heterosexuality), men were left with a new concern
with their masculinities for which there was no language of feeling. All this then led to the
disparity between men s lived experiences and their inherited language of masculinity (Rutherford,
p.9). This disparity exists as a crisis of masculinity in the novel, and the narrative of Fight Club
develops toward a backlash against this disparity, wherein the efforts of the narrator are directed
toward a nostalgic response to the crisis. The narrator responds by taking part in support groups and
then establishes a Fight Club and Project Mayhem to confront this disparity, and thereby his buried
emotions. According to kaufman, many institutions of male bonding are a means to provide safety
for isolated men who need to find ways to affirm themselves, find common ground with other men
and collectively exercise their power : a sense of power which is already lost on an individual basis

Norman Bates: Two Lives Within A Soul
Sigmund Freud s Psychoanalytic Theory of Personality Development states that there is a structural
model of the psyche, which splits the human identity into three instances of Ego, Superego, and ID.
In Psychoanalytic Stage of Development, there are five stages: Oral, Anal, Phallic, Latency, and
Genital. Even though Sigmund Freud never was writing about the movie _Psycho_, theories of
Freud, have a great connection with the personality of Norman Bates. According to Oedipus

As Norman grew up, he never had the chance to explore his sexual desires with other people.
Norman s behavior can be further analyzed by using Freud s theory of Infantile Sexuality. In his
theory of Infantile Sexuality, Freud explains that a child has sexual instincts. Sigmund Freud s
theory describes the ideas and emotions which exist within the unconscious mind of children
concerning their desire to possess their mothers sexually and eliminate the threat of their fathers
who they competed with for the attention of their mothers. Norman s problem is he is stuck in the
Phallic Stage. The Phallic Stage is the third stage of child development, occurring between the year
of 3 and 6. Between this time, Norman must have been abandoned by his mother. Her lover must
have been envied by Norman because all he wants is his mother s love and attention. He felt that
the other man was a threat to the relationship Norman and his mother had. After feeling abandoned
by his mother, Norman s Oedipus complex forced him to have a fight with his mother s lover,
which eventually made him to murder the two of them after finding them in bed together . For
Freud, most repressed memories relate to sexuality. However, the killings don t stop with the
mother and her partner. Norman continues to kill women who come to the motel that he finds
attractive.
Norman engages in a discussion with Marion in the parlor where he reveals a desire to escape from

During the Victorian era when married, women would lose all right to their possessions and property. Women belonged in the home and were classified as a Domestic Angel or a Fallen Woman. The social conditions for women in the Victorian eraare acknowledge and challenged by Charlotte Bronte in her novel Jane Eyre. • 3. Macbeth Consequences Every action has a consequence Every action has a consequence, this statement relates to Shakespeare s play Macbeth , as Macbeth is a tragic hero who destroys himself by his own wicked and selfish ambitions. At the beginning of the play Macbeth is portrayed as a courageous, noble hero of Scotland who has bravely won victory over the war. After this win, Macbethand Banquo come across three supernatural beings who prophesies Macbeth s rein as king of Scotland. As the story unfolds, the witches prophecy is proven to be correct and Macbeth soon becomes a tyrant king who is willing to murder anyone who will bring his rein to an end. Macbeth s spouse, lady Macbeth is also shown destroying her reputation of a noble woman through her barbaric actions. The statement every action has a consequence also correlates to the film the lion king directed by Roger Allers and Rob Minkoff. The similarities of scars reckless actions to lead Simba and Mufasa (the king) into a stampede of wildebeests that ended in the death of Mufasa, is what led to scars downfall and death. Therefore, Shakespeare play Macbeth implements the statement every action has a consequence through various ways, many similar to the film the lion king. Some tend to play the motherly type, some play the manipulator type and some even play the victims of abusive relationships. No matter what women seem to be coming up in the industry of movies in more ways than before. The three movies I have chosen to analyze in my critique are Heartbreakers, Baby Boy and Stepmom. These three movies all have women in them that either play a major role or the main role. The second movie in which a woman plays a major role in is Baby Boy. This movie, I believe did not do too much damage to the box offices when it first came out, but it sure portrayed women in a very negative way. The main character is actually a man by the name of Tyrese Gibson. He plays a boy who is struggling to grow up and become not only an independent adult, but also a responsible father (to more than one child). The main female role in the movie is Tyrese s baby s mother. She is in love with him and would do anything to keep him happy. She let s him use her car and she let s him stay at her place at any time with her and their son. He cheats on her a lot and at one point even hits her. This was a major part in the movie. He had promised her he would never lay his hands on her and he did. She stopped talking to him for quite some time, and that whole time you could sense they were both miserable without eachother. Some men tend to hurt women for the simple facts that they just don t know how to control their anger or because they were never taught good communication skills. They end up telling one another that they can t live without each other and they get back together. She ends up getting pregnant by him again and they get married and live happily ever after. Viewpoints on life change, knowledge is gained through mistakes, and one may find themselves trapped in a maze like situation that they need to find a way out of. However, making the best out of one s position through determination, perseverance, and courage can slowly reverse the difficulty of handling it. Eventually, as strength is regained from tough obstacles, the desire to obtain their dreams escalates even further, which aids in working harder and striving to reach their goals. Barbara Ehrenreich, the author of Nickel and Dimed, depicts the financial struggles of single mothers who raise their families through minimum wagejobs after the welfare reform affected their lifestyles. In the novel, Ehrenreich tests the limits of living in poverty by accepting any scarce job that was offered, and provides insight that although it was exhausting to balance her needs and her hectic work schedule, by diligently laboring, constantly persisting in seeking the better, and voicing out the wrongs, it can eventually lead to the attainment of the American Dream. Through the struggles of stabilizing two jobs at once while searching for a temporary home, Ehrenreich displayed the frustration of sticking to her three guidelines in her experiment: she cannot go hungry, be homeless, or ignore the skills she learned through her education and past work experiences. • 7. Blankets, By Craig Thompson The graphic novel Blankets, by Craig Thompson, is an emotionally charged and painfully truthful account of the author s life as he grew from a young child through the stages of adolescence to young adulthood. Thompson s account of his life events represents many developmental theories and philosophies. Bronfenbrenner s theory of systems, Vygotsky s social development theory, Marcia s theory of the identity, Arnett s theory of emerging adulthood, and Kraft s theory of the family system are all seen throughout Craig s life. Urie Bronfenbrenner presented his theory of ecological systems in 1979. In his theory, Bronfenbrenner claims that there are four systems that work in concert with one another to affect the behavior of an individual (Lobb, 2016). The four systems that Bronfenbrenner posed were the microsystem, relatable to one s home, the mesosystem, considered one s home and school, the exosystem, which are organizations outside of school, and the macrosystem, which involves the government. While the fourth system is not quite present in Craig s life, the other three are readily recognizable. As to the microsystem, it can be observed from his home life that Craig s family is of a low socioeconomic status. • 10. Ethical Leadership In The Island And Kurt Vonnegut s The... According to the Oxford Dictionary, Ethical Leadership is leadership that is directed by respect to embrace the ethical beliefs and values as well as the dignity and rights of others. However, not all leaders are driven by their moral principles given that authoritative people can often be selfish and inconsiderate of the people under their control. In The Island, a film directed by Michael Bay, Dr. Merrick, the founder of Merrick Biotech, is in control of secretly bred clones. Similarly, Kurt Vonnegut s All the King s Horses, characterizes a Colonel named Bryan Kelly who dominates sixteen other Americans. A leader s exertion of power to manipulate others is commonly discerned in a negative and invidious way. Nonetheless, this notion is challenged as it pertains to both the film and the story in different ways. Although both works exhibit a leader s manipulation of humans for one s personal gain, The Island portrays a superior, Dr. Merrick as an unethical leader, whereas All the King s Horses shows a manipulator, Colonel Bryan Kelly, who abides the moral principles of an ethical leader. Should thesis specify what makes the leader ethical? The Island manifests an unethical leader, Dr. Merrick, who dictates the lives of the clones, not with the purpose of improving and facilitating the clone s lifestyle, but solely for the purpose of earning a profit. Science, Religion, Politics And The Arts Of Modern Europe Science, Religion, Politics and the Arts of Modern Europe In early modern European society, many factors induced the rise of the middle class. Aside from the trade markets and early industrialism, quickly changing thoughts regarding science, God, man and the cosmos propelled political philosophies into uncharted territories. Modern thinking led to the philosophical writings which helped usher in the acceptance of these thoughts to much of society. Science and religion were the hinges to the new political environment; all of these changes in society greatly affected the many works of painters, sculptors, novelists, poets, musicians, film makers and architects. This period was one of great instability and monumental changes within attitudes of politics and the common man s role in the universe. The rise of the middle class started from capitalism beginnings during the exploration and trade start up throughout Europe. Merchants steadily increased income, providing for more power in communities. This moved much of what was known as the peasant class to a middle class. The nihilistic ending and the free form moderate style add to the ideals that Dunn tries to present and helps add a twist ending to the poem when you see the lack of desire for social interactions in the young man who was the first to speak up. The contrast between his outer presentation and his inside emotions are shown strongly between the first and second half, as if he only spoke up to get it over with . If you consider the matter from the company s perspective, there is a certain logic involved. A 401(k) is a benefit offered to employees, but once a worker leaves, the company likely does not want to keep incurring the expenses involved to maintain the accounts for former employees. Because the Department of Labor guidelines instruct employers to prevent exposing the money of employees to risky investments, employers simply choose a safe investment such as an IRA. Rolling over a 401(k) can be a complicated matter. Many people find that the logistics are too difficult for them to manage, so they either cash out the account or end up collecting a number of small dollar 401(k) accounts during their working years. The use of every stereotype is used in this series to allow every viewer feel as though they have a place, making the show significant for young adult viewers especially. The main characters in the show are all friends, yet they all have different interests. Despite the drama, relatable for any high school viewer. While other shows place teens into certain stereotypical groups, One Tree Hill does just the opposite by allowing everyone to be themselves. Dissimilar from most shows on television and stereotypes of high school, One Tree Hill does a substantial work of portraying the diversity of all people by bringing all together. Peyton Sawyer is not like any typical highschool girl. She is a cheerleader but also enjoys making dark art. Naturally, she is in her room listening to punk rock music and drawing. Peyton is pretty uncheery (if one asks Lucas Scott). Therefore, she doesn t come off as the cheerleader type. The only reason that she is a cheerleader is because her ... Essay about Cooperative Learning Cooperative Learning During the weekend I spent learning about the theories and structures of cooperative learning, I was captivated by five components of cooperative learning. I intend to use these five in my own classroom. They begin with the introduction games Pleased to Meet You and Knotting Acquaintance followed by the creation of basegroups and finally STAD and TGT. These are five basic, yet exciting ways to use cooperative groups in the classroom. The base groups help open the door to getting the cooperative learning going. The length of time that the base groups will stay together depends on the climate in the classroom. If I have selected well and the groups have been successful I might be inclined to let them work together up to the midpoint of the school year. The base groups will merely serve as a home. Depending on the activity the class is doing I will use ad hoc groups and Formal learning groups. In the Formal learning groups, as well as in the ad hoc and the base groups, I will employ two types of group activities the STAD system and the TGT system. The Student Team Achievement System (STAD) is a five part system with proven effectiveness in Language Arts, Social Studies, Mathematics and Science. The groups are set up heterogeneously and presented with new material. The next step is to have the learners practice the material within their group. It is the responsibility of the group to be sure all group members have received the information and have a clear understanding of it. Once the groups have had sufficient time to practice, the teacher gives the students individual quizzes. The quizzes are scored and the learners earn points for their group. The points earned by the group members are based on their level of improvement over their base score; their average score on the previous quizzes. The base score could also be established by ... On the contrary, Cotw argued that the courts in Germany are not competent authority to proceed with the case based on two reasons. Firstly, on the website there is an agreement within Article 7 of the general terms and conditions of online sales contracts that grants the jurisdiction to a court in Leuven, Belgium. Furthermore, the defendant in the main proceedings contended that the real party to the contract is the mother company which is established in Belgium while the plaintiff in the main proceedings is well aware of that because the invoice which was sent to him contained the contract details of the mother company and the money was paid to a Belgian bank account. In spite of this, El Majdoub argued that the choice of court agreement acknowledged in Article 7 is not in writing, so it does not comply with Article 23(1) (a) of the Brussels I Regulation. The prompt was to make a simple war game on a grid. At the beginning, we just came up with some simple rule to begin the game because we knew that we will improve the rule after we played the game. One of the most important that I learned during I was working on this project is that playable games take time and testing. It is okay to start with a simple game idea, and we will improve on it later. Out first draft games were expected to suck, which is going to be a lot of error and unclear rule, and it also won t be able to play through the end. It helps that we did not put too much pressure on ourselves. The war game is a common structure with grid movement Mechanism on the board games. It has grid on board, and all the objects can move along with the line in many directions. This begs the question, of how will this intentional focus be initiated? It will be initiated by the pastors that rotate in the pulpit, by the teaching and preaching on the focus of becoming a community and how this is important for the congregation. For example, a sermon or sermon series could be on Paul s words in Corinthians about the body[3] and how that understanding can be the fundamental for understanding what community means in the congregation. Sandford Research Paper It was the year of 1857 and a robust wind blew through the South as the air was filled with both victory and horrific disappointment. An ordinary man named Dred Scott began his journey for his rights of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. Scott s struggle for freedom would come to make him one of the most famous plaintiffs in American history and a worldwide symbol for emancipation. Scott happened to be of African descent which was an extremely difficult obstacle to live with in early America. The Dred Scott decision made by the supreme court in March of 1857 negatively impacted the United States by empowering the South, contributing to the secession, and expediting the Civil War. Dred Scott was forced to travel around with his owner, a United States army surgeon, Dr. John Emerson. Dr. Emerson was assigned to Fort Armstrong located in Illinois. As of 1818, when Illinois became a state, its state constitution declared it a free state (Gunderson 16). Although illegal, Scott was still forced to work as a slave for his master. Dr. Emerson soon requested a transfer from Fort Armstrong which was quickly answered; his new post was at Fort Snelling. Fort Snelling was located in a newly created Wisconsin Territory near present day St. Paul, Minnesota where slavery had been banned since 1820 (Gunderson 16). To narrow things even down further so that we could have an argument, plasticand cellulose could both be used to make the same type of material such as containersfor juice, containers for food, chairs, tables and many more. With this, we could now compare if plastic or paper is the better material to make our basic necessities. Richard Stein, from the University of Massachusetts, stated that plastics could be melted and formed into different structures such as propellers for wind turbines, food containers and many more [3]. Imagine being able to reuse plastic as long as the quality of it can still be recyclable, but if it isn t anymore, Richard Stein also suggested that plastic could be converted to energy by burning it since it is made of petroleum [3]. The goal of this technique is to allow organic compounds to form crystal lattice structures, and to remove any of the impurities that do not align within this crystal structure.1 The theory behind recrystallization revolves around entropy; as heat will cause a organic compound to dissolve (increase in entropy), a decrease in heat will then allow that organic compound to reform (decrease in entropy) and become purer.2 The recrystallization technique utilizes the ability of a compound to dissolve within a hot solvent and produce a solution. As this solution cools, the solute reforms without impurities in a crystal lattice structure.1 For this to work properly, an appropriate solution that will not dissolve the solute at low temperatures, but will at high temperatures, must be used.1 There is no single solvent that will work well for every solute s recrystallization; different solvents are better suited for some solutes than others.2 Some impurities that do not dissolve within the solvent can be filtered out while the solution is still hot, while other impurities that readily dissolve within the solvent shouldn t recrystallize with the pure substance (as they are not concentrated enough to ... American Mafia vs. Italian Mafia in Cinema Essay The gangster genre within films in America has accomplished numerous positive criticisms and constant willing audiences due to containing outstanding spectacles and mind blowing action. The Godfather, being second on the IMDb Top 250 Movies, has set a new popular concept to life within the Mafia from their point of view. Doing so, creating a positive association. Yet within Italy, the same topic contains a complete different view. Movies such as I Cento Passi demonstrate unenthusiastic view by those whom are outside yet negatively affected by those members. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... I Cento Passi (one hundred steps), written by Marco Tullio Giordana in 2000, is a film of an explosive story of betrayal, murder, intrigue and the Mafia, set in Cinisi, a small Sicilian seaside. The town is run and controlled by head of the mafia, Don Tano. Peppino Impastato, a real character in history, fought against the mafia, despite his family s connection and finally became a martyr for his cause. At a young age he became very aware of the harsh reality of the Mafia when his uncle, who he dearly loved, was blown up by a car bomb. He becomes a very active member of the Communist party in Sicily and fought back against the Mafia, which few Italians would ever do at the time or even in the present. Thinking back to the first time watching The Godfather, the plot repeatedly wraps around the idea of family and business. Yet the two do not reflect the central theme of the film. Death and betrayal are foreshadowed in the cryptic dialogue, the baroque, pathos laced scenery, and in the very nature of the incestuous institution of family in La Mafia (Russo p 37). Constantly seen is death being a symbol and a theme within the film itself. The brutal violence, settled vendettas, and acts of murder are either demonstrated, talked about, or become the reason or many focus in almost every scene. One symbol of death in the film is the oranges, which appear in many scenes. Initially, it is hard to catch the first time viewing the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Advantages Of Anti-Competitive Agreement CHAPTER IV ANTI COMPETITIVE AGREEMNENT People of the same trade seldom meet together, even for merriment and diversion, but the conversation ends in a conspiracy against the public, or in some contrivance to raise prices. While doing business in India, parties are prohibited from executing anti competitive agreements. Generally, the agreements which cause or are likely to cause appreciable adverse effect on competition ( AAEC ) are anti competitive agreements. However, the Competition Act, 2002 ( Act ) recognizes intellectual property rights and to facilitate their protection, the Act permits reasonable restrictions imposed by their owners. The most obvious example would be that of agreements between enterprises dealing in the same products. However, in general, it is important to define the relevant market(s). To attract the provision of the law, the products must be substitutes. Being at the same stage of the production chain implies that the parties to the agreement are both (all) producers, or retailers or wholesaler. As has been interpreted over the years in the U.S. (and enacted more recently in other countries) a dissention is drawn in this regard between horizontal and vertical agreements. In certain circumstances it can be established that firms that are collaborating on some socially valuable activity may need to agree to do away with competition so to establish the cooperative relationship. In this, the European Community law goes beyond the objective of maximizing welfare and explicitly allows some Restrictive contracts if they promote progressiveness and consumers ultimately stand to gain. The Japanese law also allows for actions in contravention of the law provided they are in the public interest . It would be dangerous to allow the kind of discretion in interpretation possible under the Japanese law. Any exceptions that are permissible should be clearly laid down. However, we recommend that Restrictive contract which are designed to promote use of energy efficient manufacturing processes and production of Eco friendly products or conservation of natural resources should be explicitly permitted as ... • 50. Colonism In Europe It is evident that in 16th century Europe there existed both the motivation and the means to explore and colonize territory across the seas. As it can be said, With the dawn of the 16th century, there came together in Europe both the motivation and the means to explore and colonize territory across the seas. This statement is true to a large extent, especially in the areas of trade and technology. The physical means to explore and colonize came from the advances in technology that the Europeans had gone through, allowing them to sail far across the oceans and take over native populations easily. The motivation, on the other hand, came from trade related reasons, such as the desire to trade new resources, to find gold, and to find new trade routes. Without the technology or trade at the dawn of the 16th century, there would not have been the means nor the motivation for Europeans to explore and colonize the New World. First, the Europeans had the means to explore and colonize the New World mainly because of their advances in technology. As Schweikart put it, a wide range of technologies coalesced to encourage long range voyages of discovery. For example, the Arabs development of the astrolabe helped sailors establish the sun s altitude above the horizon. Vikings farther north introduced new methods of hull construction, allowing vessels to withstand violent ocean storms. Sailors on the Baltic coast tinkered with larger and more controlled ship designs. Improved ships ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Within popular culture, the media have also come across the perceived crisis of masculinity newspapers, documentaries and talk shows have increasingly pondered over the changing meaning of manhood in our modern age. Research and critical studies into men and asculinity has originated as one of the most emerging areas of sociological investigation. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... During the post feminist era of victimization (of heterosexuality), men were left with a new concern with their masculinities for which there was no language of feeling. All this then led to the disparity between men s lived experiences and their inherited language of masculinity (Rutherford, p.9). This disparity exists as a crisis of masculinity in the novel, and the narrative of Fight Club develops toward a backlash against this disparity, wherein the efforts of the narrator are directed toward a nostalgic response to the crisis. The narrator responds by taking part in support groups and then establishes a Fight Club and Project Mayhem to confront this disparity, and thereby his buried emotions.
