Introduction
In health Care setting just an education improves the
knowledge of the Person, training the improvement of
attitude, Skills and abilities of employees to perform
specific job better.
Training and supervision are the vital aspect of higher
education.
One of the purpose is to help the individual in
Becoming a useful member of society.
Training
ï‚· Training is the act of increasing the knowledge and skills of
an employee for doing a particular job.
ï‚· The Training is a systematic activity performed to modify the
skills, attitudes and the behavior of an employee to perform
a particular job.
The main purpose of training is to ensure that all employees
have the technical skills needed to perform the job efficiently &
smoothly
Objectives Of Training
ï‚· Increase motivation and Engagement
ï‚· Quick learning
ï‚· Higher productivity
ï‚· Standardization of procedures
ï‚· Less supervision
ï‚· Economical Operations
ï‚· Higher Moral
ï‚· Preparation of Future Managers.
ï‚· Better management.
Supervision
ï‚· Supervision means overseeing the employees at work. It has
been defined as the authoritative direction of work of one’s
Subordinates.
ï‚· It means observing the subordinates at work to see that they
are working according to plans and policies of the organization
and maintaing the time schedule and to help them in solving
their work Problems.
Objectives Of Supervision
ï‚· To help the staff to do their job skillfully and effectively to give
maximum resources, and cost effectiveness.
ï‚· Guide or assist in Meeting predetermined work objectives or
targets.
ï‚· In nursing, preventive, promotive, curative and rehabilitative
care to people
ï‚· Help to promote effectiveness of the subordinates /staff
ensuring that the Subordinate staff does what he/she supposed
to do.
ï‚· Help to motivate subordinates to maintain high morale.
ï‚· Help the members of the team to Recognize problems,
identity solutions & to take Actions.
ï‚· Help to develop team spirit & promote team work for
effective functioning.
Training of Auxillary Nurse Midwife[ANN]
ï‚· ANMS is village level female health worker in India who is the
first contact person between the community and health
Services.
ï‚· ANM. In are playing important and vital role in maternal child
Health and Family welfare Services in the rural areas.
ï‚· They are posted in Subcentre, Primary Health centre & Rural
Family Welfare centres and other health Centres.
ï‚· The training duration of ANM Course is two years with
minimum qualification is 10th
ï‚· Senior ANM with 5 years of experience is given 6
months promotional training to become Lady health
visitor / Health Assistant (Female].
ï‚· The LHV /HA are giving supportive supervision &
techincal guidance to ANM’s in sub-cents.
Training of Multi Purpose Health Workers
ï‚· This is approved during 6th Five Year Plan and by 1984 it
became 100%. Centrally Sponsored Scheme.
ï‚· Training duration is one year.
ï‚· On successful completion, they will be posted at the sub centre
along with an ANM/Health worker.
The functions of MPHW are mainly in the areas of National
Health Programmes like:
ï‚· Malaria
ï‚· Leprosy
ï‚· Tuberculosis
ï‚· Limited involvement in Universal Immunization Programme
ï‚· Diarrhoea Control Program & in family welfare Services.
Training Of Village Health Guide
ï‚· The village health guides are mostly women and this scheme was
started on 1977. They Are chosen by the community which they work.
ï‚· The village health guide must be a permanent resident of the local
community And have minimum formal education of 5th class.
 Training is conducted every month. The criteria’s includes she must be
a woman of the village who will visit everyone, represent every one by
village communities themselves.
ï‚· After selection they undergo training in nearest PHC for 200 hours In 3
months. Each village health guide covers 1000 rural Population.
Training Of Local Dais
ï‚· They are expected to play vital role in propagating small family norms,
emphasis is given on asepsis so that home deliveries are conducted
under safe hygiene to reduce maternal & child mortality.
ï‚· Training is for 30 working days. She is a stipend of Rs.300 during her
training period.
ï‚· Training is given at the PHC, Sub-centre or MCH centre for 2days In a
week, & on the remaining four days of the week they accompany the
health worker.
ï‚· After successful completion of training, each Dais is provided with a
delivery kit & a certificate.
Training of Anganwadi Workers
ï‚· Under the ICDS scheme, there is an anganwadi for a population of
1000, there are about 100 such workers in each ICDS project.
ï‚· Training in Various aspects of health, nutrition & child development for 4
months.
ï‚· She is a part-time worker & is Paid honorarium of Rs. 200-250 per
month for the Services rendered, which include, health, Education &
referral Services.
ï‚· The beneficiaries are epecially nursing mothers, other women (15-45
years) & children below the age of 6 years.
Training Of Accredited Social Health Activist
(ASHA)
ï‚· ASHA training comes under the National Rural Health Mission
ï‚· ASHA must be a woman resident of the village.
ï‚· Married / divorced preferably in the age group of 25-45 years.
ï‚· Should be literate women qualified up to 10th standard.
ï‚· ASHA will be chosen through community groups, self-
help groups, Anganwadi Institutions, Village Health
committe & the Gram sabha.
ï‚· She will counsel the women on birth prepared dress,
importance of safe delivery, breast feeding,
Complementary feeding, immunization, contraception
& Prevention of common infectious diseases the RTI
& STD.
Role of nurse in Training And supervision of Various
categories of Health Workers:
• Community health nurse has to supervise the work of
nursing personnel who is working under her
responsibilities.
• She has to take disciplinary actions for any mistakes.
• She has to guide the person while giving training
• She has to correct their mistakes while doing
procedures.
• She has to encourage trainer during training.
• She has to teach the right method of
procedure.

Introduction In health Care setting just an education improves the knowledge of the Person, training the improvement of attitude, Skills and abilities of employees to perform specific job better. Training and supervision are the vital aspect of higher education. One of the purpose is to help the individual in Becoming a useful member of society.
  • 4. Training ï‚· Training is the act of increasing the knowledge and skills of an employee for doing a particular job. ï‚· The Training is a systematic activity performed to modify the skills, attitudes and the behavior of an employee to perform a particular job. The main purpose of training is to ensure that all employees have the technical skills needed to perform the job efficiently & smoothly
  • 5. Objectives Of Training ï‚· Increase motivation and Engagement ï‚· Quick learning ï‚· Higher productivity ï‚· Standardization of procedures ï‚· Less supervision ï‚· Economical Operations ï‚· Higher Moral ï‚· Preparation of Future Managers. ï‚· Better management.
  • 6. Supervision ï‚· Supervision means overseeing the employees at work. It has been defined as the authoritative direction of work of one’s Subordinates. ï‚· It means observing the subordinates at work to see that they are working according to plans and policies of the organization and maintaing the time schedule and to help them in solving their work Problems.
  • 7. Objectives Of Supervision ï‚· To help the staff to do their job skillfully and effectively to give maximum resources, and cost effectiveness. ï‚· Guide or assist in Meeting predetermined work objectives or targets. ï‚· In nursing, preventive, promotive, curative and rehabilitative care to people ï‚· Help to promote effectiveness of the subordinates /staff ensuring that the Subordinate staff does what he/she supposed to do.
  • 8. ï‚· Help to motivate subordinates to maintain high morale. ï‚· Help the members of the team to Recognize problems, identity solutions & to take Actions. ï‚· Help to develop team spirit & promote team work for effective functioning.
  • 9. Training of Auxillary Nurse Midwife[ANN] ï‚· ANMS is village level female health worker in India who is the first contact person between the community and health Services. ï‚· ANM. In are playing important and vital role in maternal child Health and Family welfare Services in the rural areas. ï‚· They are posted in Subcentre, Primary Health centre & Rural Family Welfare centres and other health Centres.
  • 10. ï‚· The training duration of ANM Course is two years with minimum qualification is 10th ï‚· Senior ANM with 5 years of experience is given 6 months promotional training to become Lady health visitor / Health Assistant (Female]. ï‚· The LHV /HA are giving supportive supervision & techincal guidance to ANM’s in sub-cents.
  • 11. Training of Multi Purpose Health Workers ï‚· This is approved during 6th Five Year Plan and by 1984 it became 100%. Centrally Sponsored Scheme. ï‚· Training duration is one year. ï‚· On successful completion, they will be posted at the sub centre along with an ANM/Health worker.
  • 12. The functions of MPHW are mainly in the areas of National Health Programmes like: ï‚· Malaria ï‚· Leprosy ï‚· Tuberculosis ï‚· Limited involvement in Universal Immunization Programme ï‚· Diarrhoea Control Program & in family welfare Services.
  • 13. Training Of Village Health Guide ï‚· The village health guides are mostly women and this scheme was started on 1977. They Are chosen by the community which they work. ï‚· The village health guide must be a permanent resident of the local community And have minimum formal education of 5th class. ï‚· Training is conducted every month. The criteria’s includes she must be a woman of the village who will visit everyone, represent every one by village communities themselves. ï‚· After selection they undergo training in nearest PHC for 200 hours In 3 months. Each village health guide covers 1000 rural Population.
  • 14. Training Of Local Dais ï‚· They are expected to play vital role in propagating small family norms, emphasis is given on asepsis so that home deliveries are conducted under safe hygiene to reduce maternal & child mortality. ï‚· Training is for 30 working days. She is a stipend of Rs.300 during her training period. ï‚· Training is given at the PHC, Sub-centre or MCH centre for 2days In a week, & on the remaining four days of the week they accompany the health worker. ï‚· After successful completion of training, each Dais is provided with a delivery kit & a certificate.
  • 15. Training of Anganwadi Workers ï‚· Under the ICDS scheme, there is an anganwadi for a population of 1000, there are about 100 such workers in each ICDS project. ï‚· Training in Various aspects of health, nutrition & child development for 4 months. ï‚· She is a part-time worker & is Paid honorarium of Rs. 200-250 per month for the Services rendered, which include, health, Education & referral Services. ï‚· The beneficiaries are epecially nursing mothers, other women (15-45 years) & children below the age of 6 years.
  • 16. Training Of Accredited Social Health Activist (ASHA) ï‚· ASHA training comes under the National Rural Health Mission ï‚· ASHA must be a woman resident of the village. ï‚· Married / divorced preferably in the age group of 25-45 years. ï‚· Should be literate women qualified up to 10th standard.
  • 17. ï‚· ASHA will be chosen through community groups, self- help groups, Anganwadi Institutions, Village Health committe & the Gram sabha. ï‚· She will counsel the women on birth prepared dress, importance of safe delivery, breast feeding, Complementary feeding, immunization, contraception & Prevention of common infectious diseases the RTI & STD.
  • 18. Role of nurse in Training And supervision of Various categories of Health Workers: • Community health nurse has to supervise the work of nursing personnel who is working under her responsibilities. • She has to take disciplinary actions for any mistakes. • She has to guide the person while giving training
  • 19. • She has to correct their mistakes while doing procedures. • She has to encourage trainer during training. • She has to teach the right method of procedure.
