Technology Whist Driving
The health issue of using technology whist driving is increasing at a rapid speed. Even though this
is a major health issue, there are very few campaigns in Australia that promote and prevent the
usage of technology whilst driving. A current Queensland campaign, Join The Drive, is a road
safety initiative with the goal to get the whole of Queensland to rally together behind road safety.
The Ottawa Charter Action Area that links with Join The Drive is Developing Personal Skills and
the Social Justice Principle is Supportive Environments. The stakeholders that are affected include
the driver, the passenger/s, family, friends, the community, phone companies, phone suppliers and
car sellers. In Queensland between 1997 and 2004, there were 277 crashes

Comparing Study Designs for Citation Bias
In an explanatory research design, the most likely kind of bias is the citation type. In citation bias,
researchers may be reluctant to publish some discouraging findings, especially if they believe that
they may tarnish their reputations or personal abilities and affect the effectiveness of their products.
For that reason, citation bias makes researchers submit positive results only for publication, while
suppressing negative findings. In most cases, the motive of citation bias is to gain popularity or self
appraisal (Riegelman, 2005). Positive results, also known as statistically significant findings, may
include results that show that a certain intervention is functioning well.
Citation bias is likely to be encountered in explanatory research designs because through them,
causal hypotheses can be investigated, analyzed, tested, and published. Explanatory research
investigates why certain variables are related and it tries to look into the causes of certain
phenomena. However, in the process of publication of the findings, some researchers are likely to
concentrate on positive results alone and ignore the negative ones (Riegelman, 2005).
Citation bias may be common in medical research studies, especially in those that try to find the
cure for a significantly important or mysterious pathogen. In this case, only the positive sides of
the results are likely to be published. For example, a potential drug against a certain intractable
virus, which has been researched on, is

Mountain Climbing Suicide
Approximately 200 frozen corpses litter the face of Mount Everest, the tallest mountain in the world
and one of the most frequently climbed. If anything, the gruesome sights are a testament to the fact
that despite the experience and knowledge of Sherpa guides and modern technology, mountain
climbing is at its heart still a dangerous and risky sport. Still more people are not killed but become
entangled in horrific situations, and rescuers must attempt to save them with high risk maneuvers.
But mountain climbingis a conscious decision on the part of the climber, and rescuers should not be
held accountable for the decisions of the climbers. Furthermore, rescuers frequently die in rescue
missions. Thus, climbers should not demand rescue... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
What right do these climbers have to threatening the lives of rescuers such as Nick Hall and the
pilots who died in the Ama Dablam crash? It is not the duty of the pilots, the rangers, and other
rescuers to give their lives in attempts to save people who did not understand the fearful
circumstances which can arise in the pursual of a sport like mountain climbing. Mountain climbing
has changed, and in some ways it is certainly safer, but it is still at its heart an extreme sport which
can easily cause injury or even mortality. Rangers, pilots, and other rescuers should not be
expected to potentially sacrifice their own lives for the sakes of climbers. When climbers go
climbing, their lives should be the only ones they are risking. In conclusion, climbers and others
who partake in dangerous extreme sports should not demand rescue services when they are the ones
to have placed themselves in hazardous

Fever, 1793 by Laurie Halse Anderson
Point of View: The novel is narrated by Mattie Cook in the first person. She is only able to speak
for herself. The only thoughts and feelings she displays are her own and the story is set
wherever she is. Setting: The story takes place in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania in 1973. The
epidemic hits the city in the late summer months and lasts until December. Mattie lives with with
her mother and grandfather above a coffeehouse her family owns. There is little medical
knowledge at the time which leads to little control over the virus. They are many africans living
free in Philadelphia at the time also. There are also many mentions of the Free African Society.
The setting and plot are rather historically accurate and reflect the events of the time period. For
example, a yellow fever strain hit Philadelphia in the year 1793 in August. As well as date
accuracy, many of the people mentioned were alive at the time. This includes people like,
Benjamin Rush, Jean Pierre Blanchard and George Washington. References to the Free African
Society are correct too. The FAS was founded in Philadelphia and actually did help victims of the
yellow fever. The last historical accuracy was the hospital at Bush Hill. Main Character: Matilda
Cook is an adventurous and independence seeking 14 year old girl. Although she always being
pestered by her mother, Mattie loves her mother dearly and worries when her mother does not
return home after going the the Luddington s farm. Mattie struggle with

How Different Stages Contribute Towards A Successful Outcome
How different stages contribute towards a successful outcome
The procedures and techniques used in any criminal investigation help the investigators to do their
investigation properly. By correctly following the investigative stage, the investigators can improve
the quality of their case and investigation and the police will get a better chance to solve any
criminal case. In any criminal investigation, five stages are involved. The police and investigators
have the duty to follow all this stages, in order to get the best results.
Initial response to a reported crime
This stage one of criminal investigation is considered to be one of the most important stages of
criminal investigation. An unprofessional mistake made by a first responding officer can
extensively destroy the whole investigation. By following the correct procedures and rule the first
responding officer can eliminate the chance of making mistakes during the initial investigation.
The lack of knowledge can also disrupt a criminal investigation. The first responding officer is
likely to conduct a successful investigation if he knows how to deal with the problems at the crime
scene therefore, the first responding officer need to have good knowledge about the investigative
procedures.
While entering the crime scene, the first responding officer should look out for any evidence
which is present on the ground. There have some cases in which the first responding officer
stepped on the evidence such as blood or

Studies on Memories
Human beings usually depend on memory to accurately recall or describe the past events that have
happened. However, many researchers have shown that human memories can be imperfect and
fallible (Lilienfeld et al., 2012). This essay will argue that human memory for the details of past
events is not reliably accurate. The evidence for this argument can be seen in two empirical studies
which will be reviewed. Schmolck, Buffalo Squire (2000), found that percentage memory
distortions and mistaken recollections after 32 months is higher than 15 months. Lastly, Roediger
III, Jacoby, and McDermott (1996) found an extensive misinformation effects occurred in memory
recall and the effects increase with repeated testing.
First evidence is study by Schmolck et al. (2000) which is to examine memory changes about the
O.J. Simpson trial verdict after 15 months and 32 months of the incident. The IVs for the study is
the time taken for the interview of the participants. The IVs has two levels which are the interview
were conducted after 15 months and 32 months of the incident. Meanwhile, the DVs for the study is
the percentage of memory distortions after 15 and 32 months of the incident. They surveyed 222
undergraduate psychology students. The participants rated several questions and answered a few
questions (how they heard the verdict, where were they and what were they doing when they heard
the verdict) after 3 days of the verdict was announced. Then, the 222 students were divided into

Funeral Home Industry
Introduction:
There has always been a death industry but as the industry changes from product based purchases to
experience based there is a growing need in the industry to accommodate for how the industry is
doing to shift in the upcoming generations. The existing funeral homes are the traditional style
interiors that the previous generation got accustom with the product base design, but more funerals
are become more personal and deviate from the previous funeral ideas. Just like every funeral
service is unique, the grieving process is different from one person to the next. With providing a
service that takes into account of different techniques, whether through the space, social interaction
or counselling helps process the grief of the individual. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The funeral industry is changing from product based to experience based, and from burial to
cremations (National Funeral Directors Association [NFDA], 2015; Koop Kemp, 2007;
Wolfelt, 2004). Traditional funeral homes started off as having funerals in the deceased homes,
then creating buildings that have a home like interiors. The generation at the time was all about
the price of the required products; like the price of the casket, what was the casket made of,
wood or metal, what was the best price for the burial lots (Steven Kemp, 2007). The industry was
previously mostly a product driven industry but, as the industry is changing the funeral service
must focus on being customer and experience driven (Wolfelt, 2004). The baby boomer
generation is coming, they are sceptical of traditional funerals but want some sort of service and
want more information about the entire funeral process and more ideas for personalizing the
service (Wolfelt, 2004). Through the generation difference and the changing market that allows
for more of an experience customizable space that depends on tradition, customs and beliefs of
the customer (Wolfelt, 2004; Parkes Laungani Young, 2003). The baby boomers are more likely
to choose cremation for body disposition (Wolfelt, 2004; NFDA, 2015) which provides a market
change within the industry. The business of the past is not, and cannot be, the business of the
future. But there is a future in funeral service (Wolfelt, 2004). Today s funeral director must
consciously work to create a package of experience to offer families in conjunction with or even
instead of the product (Wolfelt, 2004). Through bundling of products, it allows for easier
understanding of the products but still allows for customization of the service that the client

School Psychologist Mission Statement
I believe my mission statement will change as I continue to grow and gain more knowledge
about my new career as I continue through my classes and internship, here is where I begin in
March 2017. We are all working towards what s best for the child, while each person (parent,
teacher, school psychologist, administrator) has their specific role, our collaborative goal is
always the same. I want to remember the negative experiences I had as a parent navigating the
assessment and initial IEP process and do what I can to keep another family from having a
similar experience. I also want to remember all of the positive interactions I ve had with people
who have worked together to help a student learn to the best of their abilities. I want
developmentally appropriate assessment experiences in hopes of getting the best snapshot of the
child. My ideal role as a school psychologist would include assessments, a diagnostic classroom,
social skills groups, behavior support, school staff support and parent training. Hopefully each
year I am working I can build in all those different elements and eventually have my ideal job. For
10 years I have been teaching a special day preschool class. The past... Show more content on

provide teacher trainings or support in their classrooms when needed. I also see the opportunity to

4. Advantages of the Star Network Design
It is the most cost effective strategy for cash strapped businesses with no special emphasis on
security. Sometimes the cheapest design doesn t always translate into the easiest design. In this
case, the translation is a success. The hub will serve as the intermediary between the computers and
the internet (via cable modem). Also, in this case, easy design also translate into easy
troubleshooting of any network problem. The star network allows troubleshooters to isolate issues
on the network instead of taking the entire local network offline. Moreover, the star network
implies direct data flow from the computers (via hub) to the internet instead of the data flowing
through the nodes first. Hence, speed is a benefit of such a network. In addition, because of the
direct data flow methodology (nodes to hub to modem to internet and vice versa), the data is safe.
Finally, the star network allows for expansion of nodes, hubs, and gateways without losing any of
the networks advantages listed on this page. The owner plans to eventually add 7 more computers
to the network. My recommendation is to purchase an additional hub to manage the 7 additional
computers. Also, an additional modem is needed for load balancing purposes.

The Cultural Values Of An Organization
The Underlying Cultural Values of an Organization Brian C. Satterlee (2014) discuss, Culture is
the set of shared attitudes, values goals, and practices that characterized a society, or in the
business sense, an organization (p.42). The definition of Cultural values in the Cultural values
Business Dictionary (2015) lists, Cultural values are commonly held standards of what is either
acceptable, unacceptable or the opposite of both. Also, an organization can be described as a group
of people that interact with each other to perform essential functions that help attain goals (Daft,
2013, p. 12). Combine these three underlying concepts combine the cultural values of an
organization. The Cultural Values of an Organization The cultural values of an organization are
conjoined with the shared attitudes, values goals of an individual or an organization with the same
mission and/or business (Satterlee, 2014). Organizations may offer a product or item, but the
merchandise is not what necessarily keep the outsider returning. The value an outsider is intrigued
with is the symbol, the shared attitude, and value goals offered. As a result, the outsider
recognizes the symbols presented, which is comparable to what the insider saw. For example,
Steve Jobs is not experienced with the apple product, Steve Jobs is the apple product. The apple
product concept was incardinated inside Mr. Jobs and was shared with the world. Subsequently,
insiders recognized and accepted the commonly held

Essay on A Brief History of Hard Rock
The music industry has many different genres, to suit a multitude of listeners; but, the most
popular is rock. Rock has numerous genres within itself, including; heavy metal, hard rock, arena
rock, and many more. The most popular genre would be either heavy metal or hard rock. They
are both very similar in taste with the only differences being what the music is about and the pitch
of the music. Heavy metal is typically about the darker things in life and it will have an overall
deeper pitch to it. While, hard rockis considered good time music and contains a multitude of
different pitches.

These bands along with the others that had risen from this time period are still around today and

remained. The remaining bands changed their style of play even more, toward the heavy metal
scene. This in turn allowed the creation of the punk metal genre and the development of the
heavy metal scene. Within this new era several bands had changed their appearance along with
their music. Kiss had removed their, famous, makeup and moved toward the pop/punk genre.
Near the end of this era all of the surviving artists had either stayed with hard rock or jumped on
the new, popular, heavy metal bandwagon. Within the 2000 s many of the band had come to end
and were forced to separate because most people had fallen for the heavy metal genre and were no
longer interested in just heard rock. To this day a few bands such as AC/DCand Foreigner are still

Britain’s Support for Widening but NOT Deepening the...
Over the last 30 years Britain has consistently supported the enlargement of the European Union
(EU). Both the former Conservative, and the current Labour governments have always presented
favourable rhetoric for the widening of the EU. This apparent consensus on European policy belies
the fractious nature of opinions in Britain over the future of Europe. The rough undercurrents of
Britain s contingent support for the intergovernmental vision of the EU reflects just how complex
and protracted the political discourse on Europe has become. We often refer to Britain as a single
actor, but references to Britain are simply a convenient abbreviation used to represent the dominant
political discourse of the elites, such as the political... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
One of the central themes of the EU debate revolves around the issue of national sovereignty. The
European project has always involved, to a certain extent, the relinquishing of some national
sovereignty, but in trying to persuade Europe s established nations to cede powers to a European
centre, often without the consultation of the general public, has created a growing eurosceptic
backlash, a narrative that has been well received in Britain.
Many of Europe s founding fathers (such as Monnet and Schumann) shared a federalist vision for
Europe. They hoped for a European polity which would cooperate for the greater good, above the
national divisions that had caused such calamity in the recent past. Convinced in that a strong
supranational body, with the ability to make executive decisions, was vital for peace and prosperity
that goes beyond what can be achieved with treaties between nations (Ash 2005). The eurosceptics
agree about the value of cooperation in many areas, but see this best achieved through
intergovernmental decision making, with governments from various nations negotiating in their
own country s interest. They are sceptical about a supranational style organisation, often because
they see this as an intrusion into a nation states sovereignty (Ash 2005). British Sovereignty has
always been a touchstone issue and has often made the language of the debate

Urinary Tract Function
Marilyn Nelson, RN, RHIA, works as the nurse manager at the Western States University Hospital.
She is in charge of managing PI activities in the clinics. Marilyn and her colleagues began
benchmarking by comparing the outcomes of the clinic s patients with published information on
the outcomes of other organizations and with clinical trends. They recognized that their
organization was treating a significantly higher amount of urinary tract infections, UTIs, compared
to similar organizations. This information resulted in the formation of a PI team. The team
discovered how complex the process is to evaluate urinary tract function. Since Western States

technicians. This makes it difficult to determine where, when, and by whom the patient s urinalysis

Juvenile Crime And Juvenile Delinquency
Train up a child in the way he should go; and when he is old, he will not depart from it (Proverbs
22:6 New International Version).
Juvenile crime, in law, term denoting various offense committed by children or youth under the
age of 18. U.S. official crime reported that in the mid 1900 s about one fifth of all persons arrested
for crimes were under the age of 18 (Funk Wagnalls, 2014). Such acts are sometimes referred to as
juvenile delinquency (Funk Wagnalls, 2014. Offering constructive programs reduces juvenile
delinquency and reduces recidivism. From the beginning, the principal consideration of the
juvenile courts was the welfare of the child (Silva, 2014). When discussing whether the juvenile
justice system works to rehabilitate young offenders, we must examine what options are available.
Funk Wagnalls (2014), state that Programs such as a child guidance clinics, juvenile aid bureaus
attached to police department or other official agencies, special programs in schools are all
effective ways of deterring youth offenders and keeping them out of correctional facilities. Other
forms of rehabilitation are military type.
Before we label a child as a delinquent we must first determine the cause of the delinquency. The
question to be answered is, what causes delinquency? If you were to conduct a blind study and
asked this question, you would get many different reasons. Perhaps Bad parenting, genetics, peer
pressure, bad self esteem, and society are all answers. Funk

short of despotic, not only in the wigwam but also around the council fire. She indeed possessed
and exercised all civil and political power and authority. The country, the land, the fields with their
harvests and fruits belonged to her ... her plans and wishes modeled the policy and inspired the
decisions of council. The Europeans were astounded by this way of life. The women have great
power here. A man may promise you something, and if he does not keep his promise, he thinks he
is sufficiently excused when he tells you that his wife did not wish to do it. I told him then that he
was not the master, and that in France women do not rule their husbands . As well accounts from
traders who explored the Northwest coast have written about the strong roles women played in
trade transactions with these unfamiliar men. On one account an Englishman who was visiting and
having an experience in trading at Nootka Sounds. [A senior trader under the East India Company],

Now that you know which is more dense, what must be true of the particles that make it more
dense?
Prior to completing this lab I believed the nail would be more dense than the stopper. After
performing the experiment, the iron nail contains more particles by volume than the rubber stopper
does.
Part IV
10. The accepted value for the density of aluminum is 2.699 g/cm3. Using this density and the
masses of your two samples of aluminum foil, calculate the volume of aluminum in each sample:
the regular vs. the heavy duty. (Note: You will have to use a bit of algebra and the formula D = m
/v for this calculation!) You must show all your work. (15 pts)
Regular Aluminum Foil:
2.699 g/cm3=0.67g/volume
2.699 g/cm3 x 0.67g= volume
Volume= 1.81 cm3
Heavy Duty Aluminum Foil:
2.699 g/cm3=0.97g/volume
2.699g/cm3 x 0.97g=volume
Volume= 2.62 cm3
11. Using the volume(s) you just calculated for regular vs. heavy duty samples as well as your
dimensional measurements (length and width in cm) from Part IV of this experiment, calculate
the height, or thickness, of each sample of aluminum using the formula V = l x w x h. In the
formula, V stands for volume, l for length, w for width, and h for height. Once again, you will
have to use your algebraic skills to manipulate the formula, to solve for height. You must show all
your work. (15 pts)

Goodnight Moon By Margaret Wise Brown
The author of my book is Margaret Wise Brown. She wrote the book Goodnight Moon. This
book was published September 3, 1947 about two years after World War Two ended. After World
War Two many wives were widowed and many children were fatherless. The book Goodnight
Moon was labeled as Contemporary Realistic Fiction, meaning it was believable and set in the
modern world. Margaret Wise Brownconstantly experimented with writing children s literature.
She tried new things that many other authors did not try. For example, she tried making her
books more relatable and more like a child was living in a fantasy. What kept her motivated was
trying to keep her target audience of children hoping and to never give up on that hope, in her
own words she says to write a book simple enough ... to lift the child for a few moments from his
own problems of shoelaces that won t tie and busy parents ... into the timeless world of story.
which is believed to be her motivator. While looking for the deeper meaning or message I realized
this books message was death and the loss or absence of a parent.
The book Goodnight Moon takes both children and adults away from the real world. This helps
the readers understand her style of writing and children s literature. Goodnight Moon had a huge
social impact because of how it connected with its readers. It took kids and adults away from their
problems and took them to a world where everything seemed as if it was perfect. The idea of a
perfect world seems

Islam, Religion Of Equality

ISLAM, RELIGION OF EQUALITY. Islam, a derivative of Arabic word Saleema signifying
peace and submission has, since ancient times, offered equality for all human being irrespective
of race, gender, ethnicity or color. A series of Prophets were send after Adam with a message of
love and equality for one another and believe in the unity of God. The last great messenger before
Muhammad was Jesus. Mentioned twenty five times in the Quran, Jesus is called the Messiah, the
son of a virgin, and one who brought great signs from God. His message, the Gospel, is confirmed
and described as consistent with the messages of all prophets. (Sonn, Tamara. Islam. Wiley. 2015).

From the life of the Last Prophet, there are many incidents in his life, where people can learn many
things and can help humanity to help one another, to appreciate one another and to create a society
where everyone is treated equally.
From one of the famous inspiring incidents, a companion of the Last Prophet Muhammad, his
name was Abu Zar Ghaffari, he had a little altercation with a worker, whose mother was from
Africa, who was dark in color. In that altercation, the companion said one sentence as they were
arguing, the companion says O son of a black woman . The worker immediately went to the Last
Prophet Muhammad and complained on what the companion had said to him. After the Prophet
met with Abu Zar, he confronted him by asking about the altercation. The prophet did not repeat
the same words because it was a serious matter and the prophet did not want to even repeat those
words. He told the Prophet that everything you mention in the altercation is true. Then the Last
Prophet Muhammad said: O Abu Zar, you are a man, who still have the qualities in you from the
period of ignorance, before Islam, where people used derogatory terms to their fathers, mothers or
one another. This is a major sin. That s why, whether a Muslim or a non Muslim, we the people
should never use these kind of words to one another. Muslims

The Importance Of Air Traffic Control
Air traffic controllers have one of the most stressful jobs in the world. Many controllers at each
airport individually control aircrafts at different stages of flight. For example, the stations
include fight service, departure, approach, center, en route, clearance and delivery, ground, and
tower. Every plane in the sky is under control of an air traffic operator. Each of these controllers
is controlling multiple aircraft at once, and controllers have to time everything perfectly. At peak
hours, just over 5,000 airplanes in the sky carry passengers around the world, and air traffic
controllers have the job to keep thousands of people alive and safely land and take off the
airplanes. With this thought on their minds, their jobs can become very stressful, especially with
the amount of information they need to retain during the job. With the amount of different factors
that cause stress in air traffic controllers, it can affect their job performances as well as make their
jobs more challenging; therefore, they need to develop coping sources that help them deal with and
reduce job related stress. High travel times, bad weather, emergencies, family issues, and language
details are all contribute to major factors in air traffic controlstress. First, air traffic controllers deal
with many airplanes throughout the day, especially during peak hours. During the peak traffic time,
just over 5,000 airplanes are in the air. As observed by Finkelman and Kirschner, controllers are

Bystanders As A Bystander In Joseph Conrad s Heart Of...
In the End, we will remember not the words of our enemies, but the silence of our friends (King,
n.d.). King s (n.d.) statement demonstrates the major internal impact bystanders can have on
others. As a matter of fact, most people do not think about the possible long term effects of not
standing up for someone or something. Although it may not seem like a big deal to one person, it
could be life changing to another. Many just consider a bystander to be someone who is present at
an incident and doesn t take action, but there is actually much more to it. The term bystander can
be defined as someone who is present during corruption, does not speak up, and seems not to care
about others.
By definition, a bystander must be present during an act of corruption, hence the word. If they are
not present, they do not have the choice to be a bystander or not since they have no idea what
happened. In the novel, Heart of Darkness, Marlow can definitely be considered a bystander,
especially since he was present during the corruption involving the Congo people. For example,
Marlow has already been to the Congo and has seen the terrible events happening to the people
there. And this also, said Marlow suddenly, has been one of the dark places of the earth (Conrad,
1990, p. 5). Despite the terrible actions against those in the Congo, Marlow decides to go back to
try and civilize them in the midst of all the corruption. Now, a modern day example of being

Jk Simmons And Character Clash
Tyler Christiansen/ Section A/ Whiplash/ Peter Stone
A young actor can learn a lot from the performances of JK Simmons and Miles Teller in Whiplash.
Throughout the film each actor clearly had an understanding of not only who their character was,
but what their character s overall objective was. Building character is essential to a great
performance and by watching this film I could easily tell each actor did the proper preparation it
took to get a better understanding who Fletcher and Andrew were. These actors are a great
example of what we, as actors, should be striving for when we begin to analyze a new character.
The chemistry between Simmons and Teller on screen was incredible, and I believe a huge
portion of that was due to their comprehension of their characters. A factor that played a great part
between these two characters was the idea of high status and low status. Fletcher is clearly the
high status character, holding the power to make or break Andrew s life long dream. Simmons
plays this part of Fletcher quite clearly through his physical and vocal choices. His movement is
very meticulous, almost as if he s constantly thinking about every move he makes. His posture is
tall and overbearing, often ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Dulce Et Decorum Est Poem Analysis
The soldiers above all pray for peace, for it is the soldiers who must suffer and bear the deepest
wounds and scars of war, Douglas MacArthur. In War is Kind, author Stephen Crane shares his
experiences from the Spanish American War and then later dying just before his poem is
published. Dulce et Decorum Est is written by Wilfred Owen where he shares his experience in
World War I and elaborates on his frustration with how people protested the war. Tim O Brien is
the author of The Things They Carried, Tim served in the Vietnam War and in his writings, lists
the weight of all the things they carried. The Yellow Birds is a Novel written by Kevin Powers in
which he is the narrator imaging that he is talking to a group of friends about his experiences in
Iraq. These writers use imagery, irony, and structure to protest war.
Firstly, Wilfred Owen and Kevin Powers writings portray imagery that is used to protest war. For
example, in Dulce et Decorum Est Wilfred Owen states As under a green sea, I saw him
drowning, (Doc B). Owen s poem representational imagery which is used to protest war where
the reader can visually see all of the unimaginable things that take place during the war and could
possibly be a major influence on whether or not they enlist. This quote represents that one of the

The Call Os Guinness
In my reflection of The Call this week, if I were to sum it up in one word it would be
responsibility . If a call is to have any legitimacy it has to be saturated in integrity; integrity cannot
exist unless we are diligent in the responsibilities of that call.
Once your journey begins you become more and more visible to those around you; family, work
mates, church members, and neighbors. If we are to have any influence in the lives of those we
live among and mission, we MUST be responsible ministers.
We cannot live in fear of messing up but we should live as though it matters if we do. If mistakes

The first was the story of Arthur F Burns when asked to pray at the informal White house prayer

followers . I have prayed that prayer a few times myself.
Courage and Calling Gordon T. Smith
As I read the first two chapters I could see a pattern of learning. The things discussed about life
long learning is a soap box I speak from myself. The way things change so fast; if you want to be
effective in many areas of ministry today you have to constantly learn. What we are doing in the
class in a testament to the desire we have to be equipped for the task set before us.
The following chapter shared how life teaches lessons as well. Sometimes these have a much great
price and toll on us, but ever experience is a lesson to teach and a testimony to share.
As Smith closes out his book he shares some sound information concerning we we flourish in our
ministry. A calling is sacred, the preparation for that calling in ministry is essential, but if I cannot
find a place to exercise my calling in the body of Christ I am likened to the unfaithful servant who

This shows Gordon Miller becoming heroic as he is standing up to the vandals who have been
tormenting him. This gives us the understanding that certain people can only take so much
stress and disruption in their lives before they come to the end of their tether and retaliate. The
last sentence in the story is an image of Miller sitting playing with a set of Roman Soldiers .
This shows that Gordon Miller is a lot more complex than Bold let us believe. He likes order and
stability in his life, he does not like change and disruptions. As he is playing with the Roman
Soldier set this represents the order that he likes in his life.
In conclusion revealing Gordon Millers personality slowly throughout the short story Bold uses a
number of techniques such as pathos, setting, imagery and word choice. Through these we feel
empathy towards Gordon Miller and understand why he proceeded taking the heroic actions that he
did. This helps the reader not to dislike Miller for his actions but feel happy for him that he finally
got justice on the vandals.

The Little Mermaid Analysis
Fairy tales often resemble what culture was like during the time in which they were written. They
tell us the story of women s struggle and survival throughout history, in societies with rules dictated
by men. Whether it be surviving the torment of a wicked stepmother or the consequences of just
being curious, one issue stays the same, the longing to escape the expectations that social norms
impose is evident with just about any story. In this paper, I will compare the similarities and
differences, and show a strong relationship between Hans Christian Anderson s, The Little Mermaid
and the movie Boyz n the Hood, written and directed by John Singleton.
The Little Mermaid, is a historical fairy tale written in the year 1836. During this time in history,
women were expected to live a certain way. The ideal woman was submissive; her job was to be
a meek, obedient, loving wife who was totally subservient to the men around her (Citation 1).
This is clearly the case in this story in many instances from beginning to end. The little mermaid
is expected to abide the rules of the sea. She is expected to follow the path of her sisters who are
content with living under the sea and is to live in her own little plot in the garden just like
everyone else, but she wasn t like the rest of her fellow mermaids. She had always had an
infatuation with the surface, always longing for her 15th birthday when she would be able to rise
to the surface and see the world of humans. Once she laid eyes on the human world and the
handsome young prince, her desire to break free from the social norm consumed her every thought.
Boyz in the Hood, is a racially charged look into the life of black males in the ghettos of California.
It took place in a time where racism was alive and well, and drug laws like the 1 100 crack/powder
disparity were being passed targeting black people disproportionally. Many cases of police
brutality and even mobs attacking and murdering black men made the headlines in the 1980s. This
movie, much like The Little Mermaid, is about the struggle of two males who are trying to break
free from the social norms imposed by society. The protagonist in this movie, Tre, moves to South
Central, Los Angeles to live

Canadian Cattle Identification Program Essay
The Canadian Cattle Identification Program exists to track beef cattle from birth to slaughter.
This way cattle can be tracked through an approved radio frequency tag in the case of a serious
outbreak of disease. Having beef cattle that are trackable through ear tags ensures that beef will
be of high quality, and the number of beef cattle are regulated. The cattle identification program
radio tags were implanted due to an outbreak of mad cow disease in 2001, the radio tags operate
as a way to track back to a source of a disease outbreak; therefore, beef can ensured to be of high
quality by managing disease issues in beef cattle. The Canadian Cattle Identification Program for
beef cattle was originally implemented due to the mad cow crisis in 2001. These tags gave the
industry a way to track diseases back to their source. Even though the program began in 2001 it

may have lost its previous tag in transit then the steer s history must be put back in the database up

Arthur is a prominent figure in history regardless of the debate over his existence. Historians and

A New Evolutionary Technique Big Bang Big Crunch Optimization
In previous chapters, the advantages and disadvantages of several modulation methods for
multilevel converter have been summarized. In this chapter Fourier series and harmonic elimination
theory is discussed briefly to derive the transcendental equations for the fundamental frequency
switching method for multilevel inverter. In the second part of this chapter a new evolutionary
technique Big Bang Big Crunch optimizationis used for solving the transcendental equations for the
fundamental frequency switching method for multilevel inverters.
There are numerous methods which are as follows like (SPWM) First Sinusoidal Pulse Width
Modulation, (MCPWM)Second, Multi Carrier Pulse Width Modulation and (SHE PWM) and
Selective Harmonic Elimination Pulse Width Modulation which are implemented for harmonic
elimination specially in multilevel inverter. (MCPWM)Multi Carrier Pulse Width Modulation
strategies are widely used, because they can be easily implemented to low voltage modules.
Normally MCPWM can be classified and categorized as Level Shifted PWM (LS PWM) and
Phase Shifted PWM (PS PWM) methods. (LS PWM) Level Shifted PWM are characterized into
three which are Firstly ,Phase Disposition Technique (PD), secondly ,Phase Opposition Disposition
Technique (POD) thirdly Alternative Phase Opposition Disposition Technique (APOD) [45] [46]
[47].
For the systems where high switching efficiency is needed, it is required and desirable to keep
switching frequency much lower. In this state,

Latino Culture
Language is essential to the expression of culture. Language conveys our thoughts and feelings
and connect us to each one s culture. Cultural Identity gives us a sense of who we are and where
we belong. As people develop and do not know their mother tongue there is a disconnect between
who Latino Individuals are and who they will become. Being Latino and not speaking spanish
affects one in one s culturebecause the loss of language means the loss of culture and identity.
Language and culture coincide and go in harmony with each other. Our culture is what shapes our
language and our language is much more than just a tool; it is a rink to our surroundings that

Causes And Consequences Of Globalization
Globalization has become one of the most significant phenomena in current society. Globalization
was defined by different sentences and theories in books, magazines and journals. However, it is
difficult to define its intrinsic meaning in the real world. Different countries were affected
dramatically by the process of globalization in diverse aspects such as economic aspect and cultural
aspect. In addition, developed countries and developing countries may have diverse attitudes
towards globalization based on their profits and costs. This essay will point out main reasons and
consequences of globalization, and will state different opinions about globalization. At the end,
statements and personal views of the sustainability of globalization will be demonstrated as well.
Dicken (2015) clarified that connectivity was the core characteristic of globalization and
information and goods interconnection between countries also induced the process of globalization.
It was confirmed that technology development was one of the primary foundations of globalization.
As Langhorne (2001) considered, the development of technology had three stages since the world s
Industrial Revolution. The first stage started after the invention of steam engine, and then steam
machines were widely used in transportation industries, which made the communication between
nations become quicker and safer. In the second stage, the development of military force including
rocket and satellite equipment played an

Guantanamo Troopers Essay
For most service members, the difficulties of deployments can include the operational tempo,
uncertainty of the next mission, the fear of the unknown or the constant changes and frustrations of
operational security. While we all deal with those obstacles, most Joint Task Force Guantanamo
Troopers will say the biggest adjustment to deal with is being away from family members. One
tool available to Troopers is the United Through ReadingProgram, which helps Troopers stay
connected with family members through deployments. UTR gives service members the
opportunity to be video recorded reading books to their loved ones back home. United Through

opportunity to send messages and well wishes to significant others, friends and parents. When
recording a video, Troopers are afforded the opportunity to bring props, instruments or anything
sentimental with them as they record their message. For those interested in participating in the
program, you can contact the chaplain s office at x2218 or x2571 to get started. Normal hours are

A Separate Peace Essay
In the novel, A Separate Peace by John Knowles, the protagonist, Gene Forrester battled within
himself to find a separate peace and in this process directed his emotions at Phineas, his roommate.
Forrester and Phineas formed the illusion of a great companionship, but there was a silent rivalry
between them in Forrester s mind. Self deceptions in Forrester led him to believe that Phineas was
out to get him (Forrester). Subconsciously Forrester jounced the limb of the tree and forced
Phineas to fall and break his leg. Phineas found out the truth of his accident with the help of Leper

and was also competing to be the best .
Self deceptions inside of Gene Forrester led him to believe that Phineas was out to get him .
Forrester realized that, Finny had deliberately set out to wreck my studies (45), when Phineas

Phineas, Forrester came to another realization that Phineas had created blitzball and the Super
Suicide Society to distract him (Forrester) from being the best . Phineas did not know that
Forrester needed to study in order to get good grades; I didn t know you needed to study, (50) he
said when Forrester wanted to stay and study rather than go to the Super Suicide Society meeting.
Phineas thought that academics came naturally to Forrester as athletics came to him (Phineas).
Forrester took Phineas trying to be a friend as him trying to distract for his (Forrester s) academics.
The Super Suicide Society meeting was held for Leper Lepellier to jump from the forbidden tree.

how womenwould act with men.
Back then in the 1400 s some girls acted differently by having more respect to themselves, but
some didn t. Some girls liked going out there to have some pleasure. In the Knight s Tale there this

African descent, plagued by the historical American public perceptions of their culture. These
negative perceptions play an important part of the individual s psyche due to prejudice. It has

in the color of her skin. Her lack of self confidence leaves her vulnerable to the unwanted advances
of the opposite sex. She has not had someone to take the time and explain why the changes are

The opposite is true for the girl in Child of the Americas . This girl is growing into a woman that

Even though this is a major health issue, there are very few campaigns in Australia that promote and prevent the usage of technology whilst driving. A current Queensland campaign, Join The Drive, is a road safety initiative with the goal to get the whole of Queensland to rally together behind road safety. The Ottawa Charter Action Area that links with Join The Drive is Developing Personal Skills and the Social Justice Principle is Supportive Environments. The stakeholders that are affected include the driver, the passenger/s, family, friends, the community, phone companies, phone suppliers and car sellers. • 3. Comparing Study Designs for Citation Bias In an explanatory research design, the most likely kind of bias is the citation type. In citation bias, researchers may be reluctant to publish some discouraging findings, especially if they believe that they may tarnish their reputations or personal abilities and affect the effectiveness of their products. For that reason, citation bias makes researchers submit positive results only for publication, while suppressing negative findings. In most cases, the motive of citation bias is to gain popularity or self appraisal (Riegelman, 2005). Positive results, also known as statistically significant findings, may include results that show that a certain intervention is functioning well. Citation bias is likely to be encountered in explanatory research designs because through them, causal hypotheses can be investigated, analyzed, tested, and published. Explanatory research investigates why certain variables are related and it tries to look into the causes of certain phenomena. However, in the process of publication of the findings, some researchers are likely to concentrate on positive results alone and ignore the negative ones (Riegelman, 2005). Citation bias may be common in medical research studies, especially in those that try to find the cure for a significantly important or mysterious pathogen. In this case, only the positive sides of the results are likely to be published. For example, a potential drug against a certain intractable virus, which has been researched on, is ... If anything, the gruesome sights are a testament to the fact that despite the experience and knowledge of Sherpa guides and modern technology, mountain climbing is at its heart still a dangerous and risky sport. Still more people are not killed but become entangled in horrific situations, and rescuers must attempt to save them with high risk maneuvers. But mountain climbingis a conscious decision on the part of the climber, and rescuers should not be held accountable for the decisions of the climbers. Furthermore, rescuers frequently die in rescue missions. Thus, climbers should not demand rescue... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... What right do these climbers have to threatening the lives of rescuers such as Nick Hall and the pilots who died in the Ama Dablam crash? It is not the duty of the pilots, the rangers, and other rescuers to give their lives in attempts to save people who did not understand the fearful circumstances which can arise in the pursual of a sport like mountain climbing. Mountain climbing has changed, and in some ways it is certainly safer, but it is still at its heart an extreme sport which can easily cause injury or even mortality. Rangers, pilots, and other rescuers should not be expected to potentially sacrifice their own lives for the sakes of climbers. When climbers go climbing, their lives should be the only ones they are risking. In conclusion, climbers and others who partake in dangerous extreme sports should not demand rescue services when they are the ones to have placed themselves in hazardous ... • 5. Fever, 1793 by Laurie Halse Anderson Point of View: The novel is narrated by Mattie Cook in the first person. She is only able to speak for herself. The only thoughts and feelings she displays are her own and the story is set wherever she is. Setting: The story takes place in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania in 1973. The epidemic hits the city in the late summer months and lasts until December. Mattie lives with with her mother and grandfather above a coffeehouse her family owns. There is little medical knowledge at the time which leads to little control over the virus. They are many africans living free in Philadelphia at the time also. There are also many mentions of the Free African Society. The setting and plot are rather historically accurate and reflect the events of the time period. For example, a yellow fever strain hit Philadelphia in the year 1793 in August. As well as date accuracy, many of the people mentioned were alive at the time. This includes people like, Benjamin Rush, Jean Pierre Blanchard and George Washington. References to the Free African Society are correct too. The FAS was founded in Philadelphia and actually did help victims of the yellow fever. The last historical accuracy was the hospital at Bush Hill. Main Character: Matilda Cook is an adventurous and independence seeking 14 year old girl. Although she always being pestered by her mother, Mattie loves her mother dearly and worries when her mother does not return home after going the the Luddington s farm. Mattie struggle with ... How Different Stages Contribute Towards A Successful Outcome How different stages contribute towards a successful outcome The procedures and techniques used in any criminal investigation help the investigators to do their investigation properly. By correctly following the investigative stage, the investigators can improve the quality of their case and investigation and the police will get a better chance to solve any criminal case. In any criminal investigation, five stages are involved. The police and investigators have the duty to follow all this stages, in order to get the best results. Initial response to a reported crime This stage one of criminal investigation is considered to be one of the most important stages of criminal investigation. An unprofessional mistake made by a first responding officer can extensively destroy the whole investigation. By following the correct procedures and rule the first responding officer can eliminate the chance of making mistakes during the initial investigation. The lack of knowledge can also disrupt a criminal investigation. The first responding officer is likely to conduct a successful investigation if he knows how to deal with the problems at the crime scene therefore, the first responding officer need to have good knowledge about the investigative procedures. While entering the crime scene, the first responding officer should look out for any evidence which is present on the ground. • 7. Studies on Memories Human beings usually depend on memory to accurately recall or describe the past events that have happened. However, many researchers have shown that human memories can be imperfect and fallible (Lilienfeld et al., 2012). This essay will argue that human memory for the details of past events is not reliably accurate. The evidence for this argument can be seen in two empirical studies which will be reviewed. Schmolck, Buffalo Squire (2000), found that percentage memory distortions and mistaken recollections after 32 months is higher than 15 months. Lastly, Roediger III, Jacoby, and McDermott (1996) found an extensive misinformation effects occurred in memory recall and the effects increase with repeated testing. First evidence is study by Schmolck et al. (2000) which is to examine memory changes about the O.J. Simpson trial verdict after 15 months and 32 months of the incident. The IVs for the study is the time taken for the interview of the participants. The IVs has two levels which are the interview were conducted after 15 months and 32 months of the incident. Meanwhile, the DVs for the study is the percentage of memory distortions after 15 and 32 months of the incident. They surveyed 222 undergraduate psychology students. The participants rated several questions and answered a few questions (how they heard the verdict, where were they and what were they doing when they heard the verdict) after 3 days of the verdict was announced. Funeral Home Industry Introduction: There has always been a death industry but as the industry changes from product based purchases to experience based there is a growing need in the industry to accommodate for how the industry is doing to shift in the upcoming generations. The existing funeral homes are the traditional style interiors that the previous generation got accustom with the product base design, but more funerals are become more personal and deviate from the previous funeral ideas. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The funeral industry is changing from product based to experience based, and from burial to cremations (National Funeral Directors Association [NFDA], 2015; Koop Kemp, 2007; Wolfelt, 2004). Traditional funeral homes started off as having funerals in the deceased homes, then creating buildings that have a home like interiors. The generation at the time was all about the price of the required products; like the price of the casket, what was the casket made of, wood or metal, what was the best price for the burial lots (Steven Kemp, 2007). The industry was previously mostly a product driven industry but, as the industry is changing the funeral service must focus on being customer and experience driven (Wolfelt, 2004). The baby boomer generation is coming, they are sceptical of traditional funerals but want some sort of service and want more information about the entire funeral process and more ideas for personalizing the service (Wolfelt, 2004). Through the generation difference and the changing market that allows for more of an experience customizable space that depends on tradition, customs and beliefs of the customer (Wolfelt, 2004; Parkes Laungani Young, 2003). The baby boomers are more likely to choose cremation for body disposition (Wolfelt, 2004; NFDA, 2015) which provides a market change within the industry. The business of the past is not, and cannot be, the business of the future. But there is a future in funeral service (Wolfelt, 2004). Today s funeral director must consciously work to create a package of experience to offer families in conjunction with or even instead of the product (Wolfelt, 2004). Through bundling of products, it allows for easier understanding of the products but still allows for customization of the service that the client ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

School Psychologist Mission Statement I believe my mission statement will change as I continue to grow and gain more knowledge about my new career as I continue through my classes and internship, here is where I begin in March 2017. We are all working towards what s best for the child, while each person (parent, teacher, school psychologist, administrator) has their specific role, our collaborative goal is always the same. I want to remember the negative experiences I had as a parent navigating the assessment and initial IEP process and do what I can to keep another family from having a similar experience. I also want to remember all of the positive interactions I ve had with people who have worked together to help a student learn to the best of their abilities. I want developmentally appropriate assessment experiences in hopes of getting the best snapshot of the child. My ideal role as a school psychologist would include assessments, a diagnostic classroom, social skills groups, behavior support, school staff support and parent training. Advantages of the Star Network Design It is the most cost effective strategy for cash strapped businesses with no special emphasis on security. Sometimes the cheapest design doesn t always translate into the easiest design. In this case, the translation is a success. The hub will serve as the intermediary between the computers and the internet (via cable modem). Also, in this case, easy design also translate into easy troubleshooting of any network problem. The star network allows troubleshooters to isolate issues on the network instead of taking the entire local network offline. Moreover, the star network implies direct data flow from the computers (via hub) to the internet instead of the data flowing through the nodes first. Hence, speed is a benefit of such a network. In addition, because of the direct data flow methodology (nodes to hub to modem to internet and vice versa), the data is safe. Finally, the star network allows for expansion of nodes, hubs, and gateways without losing any of the networks advantages listed on this page. The owner plans to eventually add 7 more computers to the network. My recommendation is to purchase an additional hub to manage the 7 additional computers. Also, an additional modem is needed for load balancing purposes. 5. Disadvantages of a Star Network Design The

The definition of Cultural values in the Cultural values Business Dictionary (2015) lists, Cultural values are commonly held standards of what is either acceptable, unacceptable or the opposite of both. Also, an organization can be described as a group of people that interact with each other to perform essential functions that help attain goals (Daft, 2013, p. 12). Combine these three underlying concepts combine the cultural values of an organization. The Cultural Values of an Organization The cultural values of an organization are conjoined with the shared attitudes, values goals of an individual or an organization with the same mission and/or business (Satterlee, 2014). Organizations may offer a product or item, but the merchandise is not what necessarily keep the outsider returning. The value an outsider is intrigued with is the symbol, the shared attitude, and value goals offered. As a result, the outsider recognizes the symbols presented, which is comparable to what the insider saw. Both the former Conservative, and the current Labour governments have always presented favourable rhetoric for the widening of the EU. This apparent consensus on European policy belies the fractious nature of opinions in Britain over the future of Europe. The rough undercurrents of Britain s contingent support for the intergovernmental vision of the EU reflects just how complex and protracted the political discourse on Europe has become. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... One of the central themes of the EU debate revolves around the issue of national sovereignty. The European project has always involved, to a certain extent, the relinquishing of some national sovereignty, but in trying to persuade Europe s established nations to cede powers to a European centre, often without the consultation of the general public, has created a growing eurosceptic backlash, a narrative that has been well received in Britain. Many of Europe s founding fathers (such as Monnet and Schumann) shared a federalist vision for Europe. They hoped for a European polity which would cooperate for the greater good, above the national divisions that had caused such calamity in the recent past. Convinced in that a strong supranational body, with the ability to make executive decisions, was vital for peace and prosperity that goes beyond what can be achieved with treaties between nations (Ash 2005). The eurosceptics agree about the value of cooperation in many areas, but see this best achieved through intergovernmental decision making, with governments from various nations negotiating in their own country s interest. Marilyn and her colleagues began benchmarking by comparing the outcomes of the clinic s patients with published information on the outcomes of other organizations and with clinical trends. They recognized that their organization was treating a significantly higher amount of urinary tract infections, UTIs, compared to similar organizations. This information resulted in the formation of a PI team. The team discovered how complex the process is to evaluate urinary tract function. Since Western States University is a teaching medical center, a number of caregivers may be involved in any one patient s care. This makes it difficult to determine where, when, and by whom the patient s urinalysis was preformed and could take any one of a number of paths in the organization. U.S. official crime reported that in the mid 1900 s about one fifth of all persons arrested for crimes were under the age of 18 (Funk Wagnalls, 2014). Such acts are sometimes referred to as juvenile delinquency (Funk Wagnalls, 2014. Offering constructive programs reduces juvenile delinquency and reduces recidivism. From the beginning, the principal consideration of the juvenile courts was the welfare of the child (Silva, 2014). When discussing whether the juvenile justice system works to rehabilitate young offenders, we must examine what options are available. Funk Wagnalls (2014), state that Programs such as a child guidance clinics, juvenile aid bureaus attached to police department or other official agencies, special programs in schools are all effective ways of deterring youth offenders and keeping them out of correctional facilities. Other forms of rehabilitation are military type. Before we label a child as a delinquent we must first determine the cause of the delinquency. The question to be answered is, what causes delinquency? This book was published September 3, 1947 about two years after World War Two ended. After World War Two many wives were widowed and many children were fatherless. The book Goodnight Moon was labeled as Contemporary Realistic Fiction, meaning it was believable and set in the modern world. Margaret Wise Brownconstantly experimented with writing children s literature. She tried new things that many other authors did not try. For example, she tried making her books more relatable and more like a child was living in a fantasy. What kept her motivated was trying to keep her target audience of children hoping and to never give up on that hope, in her own words she says to write a book simple enough ... to lift the child for a few moments from his own problems of shoelaces that won t tie and busy parents ... into the timeless world of story. which is believed to be her motivator. While looking for the deeper meaning or message I realized this books message was death and the loss or absence of a parent. The book Goodnight Moon takes both children and adults away from the real world. This helps the readers understand her style of writing and children s literature. Many controllers at each airport individually control aircrafts at different stages of flight. For example, the stations include fight service, departure, approach, center, en route, clearance and delivery, ground, and tower. Every plane in the sky is under control of an air traffic operator. Each of these controllers is controlling multiple aircraft at once, and controllers have to time everything perfectly. King s (n.d.) statement demonstrates the major internal impact bystanders can have on others. As a matter of fact, most people do not think about the possible long term effects of not standing up for someone or something. Although it may not seem like a big deal to one person, it could be life changing to another. Many just consider a bystander to be someone who is present at an incident and doesn t take action, but there is actually much more to it. The term bystander can be defined as someone who is present during corruption, does not speak up, and seems not to care about others. By definition, a bystander must be present during an act of corruption, hence the word. If they are not present, they do not have the choice to be a bystander or not since they have no idea what happened. In the novel, Heart of Darkness, Marlow can definitely be considered a bystander, especially since he was present during the corruption involving the Congo people. For example, Marlow has already been to the Congo and has seen the terrible events happening to the people there. And this also, said Marlow suddenly, has been one of the dark places of the earth (Conrad, 1990, p. 5). Throughout the film each actor clearly had an understanding of not only who their character was, but what their character s overall objective was. Building character is essential to a great performance and by watching this film I could easily tell each actor did the proper preparation it took to get a better understanding who Fletcher and Andrew were. These actors are a great example of what we, as actors, should be striving for when we begin to analyze a new character. The chemistry between Simmons and Teller on screen was incredible, and I believe a huge portion of that was due to their comprehension of their characters. A factor that played a great part between these two characters was the idea of high status and low status. Fletcher is clearly the high status character, holding the power to make or break Andrew s life long dream. Simmons plays this part of Fletcher quite clearly through his physical and vocal choices. • 38. The Little Mermaid Analysis Fairy tales often resemble what culture was like during the time in which they were written. They tell us the story of women s struggle and survival throughout history, in societies with rules dictated by men. Whether it be surviving the torment of a wicked stepmother or the consequences of just being curious, one issue stays the same, the longing to escape the expectations that social norms impose is evident with just about any story. In this paper, I will compare the similarities and differences, and show a strong relationship between Hans Christian Anderson s, The Little Mermaid and the movie Boyz n the Hood, written and directed by John Singleton. The Little Mermaid, is a historical fairy tale written in the year 1836. During this time in history, women were expected to live a certain way. The ideal woman was submissive; her job was to be a meek, obedient, loving wife who was totally subservient to the men around her (Citation 1). This is clearly the case in this story in many instances from beginning to end. The little mermaid is expected to abide the rules of the sea. She is expected to follow the path of her sisters who are content with living under the sea and is to live in her own little plot in the garden just like everyone else, but she wasn t like the rest of her fellow mermaids. She had always had an infatuation with the surface, always longing for her 15th birthday when she would be able to rise to the surface and see the world of humans. Once she laid eyes on the human world and the handsome young prince, her desire to break free from the social norm consumed her every thought. Boyz in the Hood, is a racially charged look into the life of black males in the ghettos of California. It took place in a time where racism was alive and well, and drug laws like the 1 100 crack/powder disparity were being passed targeting black people disproportionally. Many cases of police brutality and even mobs attacking and murdering black men made the headlines in the 1980s. • 40. Senior Living Budgeting Senior Living Budgeting Budgeting is important for everybody, but it can be even more critical for seniors. A bad financial decision may be painful in your younger years, but it can be overcome. During retirement, a bad financial decision can be devastating since there is no longer an income stream to replenish the lost money. The primary error made by seniors when it comes to budgeting is not knowing where their money is going. It could be because there is not a budget in place at all, or it could be due to changes in expenses that have not been updated. A senior living counselor can help your loved one monitor their spending and create a weekly, monthly, and annual budget. One of the things that typically changes when seniors retire is a change in medical insurance. Going from... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... This includes the housing payment, insurances, taxes, utilities, maintenance, etc. Many times, money is not set aside for repairs or fluctuations in utility expenses. Transportation costs should account for less than 15 percent of monthly expenses. Keeping food expenditures to 15 percent leaves 20 percent for medical expenses, 5 percent for debt payments (loans, credit cards, etc), and 10 percent for entertainment, giving, and so forth. • 42. King Arthur Research Paper King Arthur is placed into two categories amongst historians. The first is a legend of King Arthur but it s nothing more than a myth. The second is historical Arthur, which believes that he did exist. Arthur is a prominent figure in history regardless of the debate over his existence. Historians and archeologists have spent a great amount of time trying to prove who Arthur is and many of these researches have different objectives and ideologies to this monumental figure in history. Arthur has supporters but also has critics in the issue of his existence. R.G. Collingwood, Geoffrey Ashe, and Leslie Alcock are all advocates of Arthur, but they have different arguments, methodologies and writing styles for the historical Arthur. Collingwood... In his journal article, The Willing Suspension of Disbelief, Dave Burnham said, He wrote no more than a few pages about Arthur, but the vivid image he conjured became accepted as real by students, the public and some historians. This idea was largely unchallenged for over thirty years and has power even today. Collingwood made major claims with such little evidence. He laid out his observations and believed that s exactly how it happened. Even though Collingwood s ideas were widely accepted, he wrote as if there no other possible conclusion. In his book Roman Britain and English Settlements, Collingwood said, The historicity of the man can hardly be called into question. The fact that his name in later ages was a magnet drawing to itself all manner of folklore and fable, and that an Arthurian cycle grew up composed partly of events transferred from other contexts, no more proves him a fictitious character than similar fables prove it of Alexander or Aristotle, Vergil or Roland. It tends rather to prove the opposite. The place which the name of Arthur occupies in Celtic legend is easiest to explain on the hypothesis that he really lived, and was a great champion of the British people. Collinwood writes with confidence and writes that the readers should not hesitate or doubt his existence. I believe Collingwood is so assured in his work because he is a philosopher and idealist which ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

A New Evolutionary Technique Big Bang Big Crunch Optimization In previous chapters, the advantages and disadvantages of several modulation methods for multilevel converter have been summarized. In this chapter Fourier series and harmonic elimination theory is discussed briefly to derive the transcendental equations for the fundamental frequency switching method for multilevel inverter. In the second part of this chapter a new evolutionary technique Big Bang Big Crunch optimizationis used for solving the transcendental equations for the fundamental frequency switching method for multilevel inverters. There are numerous methods which are as follows like (SPWM) First Sinusoidal Pulse Width Modulation, (MCPWM)Second, Multi Carrier Pulse Width Modulation and (SHE PWM) and Selective Harmonic Elimination Pulse Width Modulation which are implemented for harmonic elimination specially in multilevel inverter. (MCPWM)Multi Carrier Pulse Width Modulation strategies are widely used, because they can be easily implemented to low voltage modules. Normally MCPWM can be classified and categorized as Level Shifted PWM (LS PWM) and Phase Shifted PWM (PS PWM) methods. (LS PWM) Level Shifted PWM are characterized into three which are Firstly ,Phase Disposition Technique (PD), secondly ,Phase Opposition Disposition Technique (POD) thirdly Alternative Phase Opposition Disposition Technique (APOD) [45] [46] [47].
