2. What Is Wrong To Take Supplies From Work Wrong
We re just talking about a few lousy nails, said Archie Bunker in response to an accusation made
about his most recent act at work. Mr. Bunker had allegedly taken a box of nails without the
permission of his employer, yet, Mr. Bunker is not the only person committing this crime. Minimal
theft is a problem that people seem to think is morally acceptable, significantly more if the item
came from work. Although it is a small miscellaneous item, the quantity and the rate of which an
item is taken can impact the total profit from the employers. Regardless of the number or price of
the merchandise taken, it is theft nonetheless. Even using or borrowing equipment is ethically
unacceptable since the owner is not aware of it. Without a doubt, taking and using supplies from
work is improper behavior.... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
When workers take small objects from their workplace, they are taking items that are pennies on
the dollar. However when all of the pennies are counted on a grand scale, they accumulate to
massive amounts of dollars. At the end of the day, when all is said and done, the workers are
taking profits from their employers. The profits taken have long lasting effects that the workers are
not seeing. Companies and corporations will start cutting paychecks, increasing prices, and even
firing their employees when their net revenue starts declining. This is a situation where everyone
loses; the employees get their wages cut, the consumers become affected by inflation, and the
owners have to take preventative measures just to keep their companies afloat. These occurring
events could be prevented, there is not a gray area where workers stealing from their bosses is

The Case for Faith, was written by Lee Strobel who at the time was an outspoken atheist. Strobel
set out on a mission to disprove the Christian faith. Along the way, as he gathered information he
was slowly convinced that there was truth to the religion. In result of his findings Strobel
published three books to help explain his findings. In this book he discusses objections that arise
in the minds of believers. Strobel discusses eight different objection, thoroughly explains them,
and provides deep information to help resolve these objections. Some of the issues that he
touched on are tilled; Since Evil and Suffering Exist, A Loving God Cannot, A Loving God Would
Never Torture People in Hell, and I Still Have Doubts, So I Can t Be a Christian. Within each
obligation Strobel includes Bibleverses and professional explanations on objection at hand. The
most beneficial sections are those where he gives simple analogies that can benefit anybody no
matter where one is in the faith journey. The three parts that benefited me the most are; Since

4. Response To The Allegory Of The Cave
Allegory of the Cave Review Questions
An allegory is a story, poem, or picture that can be interpreted to reveal a hidden meaning, typically
a moral or political one.
Plato is said to have placed his mentor, Socrates, in his place in the story. Therefore, Plato is
having a discussion wit one of his fellows known as Glaucon.
Plato describes the prison as a dark cave. In the cave are people chained in front of a walkway
facing the back wall of the cave. Behind the walkway, a large ball of fire casts shadows onto the
back wall of the cave. Plato is telling this story to compare this fable to the reality of ignorant
people being revealed to the truth.
The prisoners are chained and watching the shadows being displayed in front of them from the free
people on the walkway in front of the fire. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
After being in the dark for so long, it was difficult to adjust. Once his eyes did adjust, the prisoner
could see that the objects were much more than what they shadows had portrayed. The prisoner is
then exposed to the outer world, outside the cave, and immediately thinks of how he feels terrible
for the other prisoners who are still in the cave. He realizes that they will not experience what he
has in this new world.
Anthony 2
6.The prisoners see the objects that were casting shadows for what they really are, the light, the
whole new world. They are exposed to a new world of truth because they were surrounded by
nothing but the wall with the shadows. Objects look more realistic and figurative and the light
overcomes them.
7.Glaucon responds to Plato through most of the writing in short, simplistic phrases that agree with
what he is saying. This allows for Plato to be seen as an influential and intelligent figure. At the end
of the story, Glaucon asks small questions, not to contradict his mentor, but to enhance the reader s
meaning of what Plato is

The ability of the Air Force to engage globally, using both lethal and non lethal means, is vital to

of Air Force personnel are deployed overseas at any one time. That is a very difficult effort to
maintain. You must be decisive to sustain that mission as a nation. So you have to do your job

operations USAF served very well and accomplished so vital missions. Getting air superiority,
close air support to ground troops, communication control, and reconnaissance were the duties of
USAF. USAF has a precise technology to achieve war goals. PGM bombs and intelligent

choose to leave a supplier in view of deficient reactions instead of for the disappointing issue itself.
In a light of the presumption that clients often complain before they leave suppliers, administration
recuperation and protest administration endeavors are utilized as the primary strategies for holding

7. Laertes And Hamlet Foils In Shakespeare s Hamlet
Many Shakespearean plays reflect views of the time in which they were written. They convey this
through common themes. These themes often define a character s specific personality and
characteristics. In Shakespeare s Hamlet, Laertes serves as a foil for Hamlet in which their contrast
presents pivotal themes that reveal Hamlets character. While the play has many themes, morality,
revenge, and honor specifically relate to the contrast between Laertes and Hamlet, consequently
resulting in Laertes purpose as a foil for Hamlet.

8. Implementing A Comprehensive Audit Plan Essay
Abstract
This paper will discuss the hot topics in emerging issues that was discussed in previous
assignments. Several companies can benefit from finding ways to implement a comprehensive
audit plan to reduce the likelihood of fraud occurring. Ideas associated with the SDLC and how to
create phases that will fall in line with this execution are also detailed in this assignment. The
SDLC assists in reducing fraud and cannot be applied lightly; this plan makes the process of fraud
prevention and detection easier to succumb. Updating policies and procedures is an ongoing
process that cannot go unkempt.
Establishing a Comprehensive Audit Plan
The acronym SDLC is explained as a software development lifecycle. The phases of the SDLC
include analysis and definition phases, where the purpose should be determined, the goals that
need to be accomplished, and a set of definite requirements. Establishing a comprehensive audit
plan is integral in fulfilling the successful and quality financials for a business. This should be
done at the inception of creating the company as well as routinely checked on a consistent basis.
This used in accordance with the Sarbanes Oxley Act will guarantee that the company has a sure
way to mitigate the fraud opportunity that may occur during the time of day to day operations

We are all selfish no matter how hard we try to deny it. I learned this by listening to the speech
This is Water , by David Foster Wallace. In the speech, Wallace discusses that if we actually
think about what we think about, then we can make our lives better. He also talks about how the
exact same experience means two different things to two different people based on their beliefs.
Another thing he talks about is that we are all self centered and tend to interpret life just
thinking about ourselves. I completely agree with Wallace s ideas of people being self centered
and also that people give different meanings to the exact same thing, because they make sense
and also because that is how we all think, but no one wants to accept it. In Wallace s speech, he
says that, It s a matter of choosing to do the work of somehow altering or getting free of my
natural, hard wired default setting which is to be deeply and literally self centered and to see and
interpret life through this lens of self (Wallace 3). What Wallace means in this quote is that our
default setting is to think about ourselves without even thinking twice about it, and that we are the
absolute center of the universe. Wallace first makes this statement in section two of the speech, but
he keeps talking about this ideathroughout the entire speech. He believes that it is hard for people
to stop thinking only about themselves, but rather think of other people, and be more aware of the
choices we make. I agree

Electronic voting machines can be seen as an improvement to many Americans, such as those with
disabilities and citizens with a first language other than English. However there are downsides to
the new approach that outweigh the benefits of the new voting system coming in to place.
In the passage, Electronic VotingIs a Bad Idea , there are numerous reasons stated advocating
against the use of EVMs. In paragraph one it is said, According to at least one study, poll
workers are often poorly trained on how to use EVMs. Sometimes the workers don t even know
how to turn the machines on! In Everyone Should Be Able to Vote it mentions that one of the
main draws to using EVMs is that the disabled and those who need a ballot in a language other
than English would find it easier to use. The inexperience of poll workers would simply cause
more confusion to the voters with special requests. EVMs would also cause problems for citizens
who have limited knowledge on how to use computers. It is cited in paragraph 3 of Electronic voting

To analyze disparate impact, it requires to compare the availability of protected classes (the
proportion of the qualified and available workforce who are members of protected classes) to the
utilization of protected classes (the proportion of those employed who are members of protected
classes) for each job in the organization.
In the flow analysis presented, and the chart below, data from the organization s hiring practices
and applicant pool are used to compare how many individuals were hired from various groups in
the applicant pool.
Selection ratios and the 4/5 rule
This method to assess disparate impact is to compare the proportion of applicants who are hired
from several sources.
The rule states that if the organization s utilization rate of minority group is below fourth fifth (0.8)
of the utilization rate of a majority group, disparate impact may exist.
In our case, there are both external and internal applicants for the positions listed:
A. Store Associate:
a) We have only external candidates for this position. The applicant versus selection ratio is 20.87%
Whites, 21.90% Non Whites, and 22.73% African American. Comparing the minority selection
ratio to the majority selection ratio, more than 80.00% are hired, so there is no sign of disparate
impact.
B. Shift Leader:
a) External hires: there is a percentage of 57.58% for Non White, and 69.67% for African
American, both below the 80.00% required by the

titled Stephen King Still Won t Accept Kubrick s Genius, Hodge states It is also testament to
Kubrick s brilliance, and of course the power of the moving picture, that his film as usurped the

(Hodge). While Kubrick s version of the film is still great, to say that the film surpasses the book
is a far fetched claim. As the popular thought goes, the book is always better than the film.
Coming from a huge Stephen King fan, it is easy to understand his disdain towards the film. As
Laura Miller states in her article What Stanley Kubrick Got Wrong About The Shining You don

opposed approaches to creating narrative art. (Miller). Kubrick s film does not stay true to the

Therapeutic environment theory is an area of environmental psychology which also links in with
neuroscience and immunology. A place of therapy can be a setting such as a hospital, as it is used
for application of therapy or treatment. On the other hand the term therapeutic environment refers
to any environmentthat is designed intentionally to have a therapeutic effect on individuals. A
hospital may be considered therapeutic in itself because it is a place where people are treated.
However settings such gardens can be used for their therapeutic benefits, thus application of such
surrounds can be used in therapy; such as healing gardens. Hospitals may be a place of therapy,
however it is also a place patients may experience a lot of stress due to health concerns. This in
turn causes the immune system to weaken and may affect their emotional wellbeing. Thus, it is
important hospitals are designed to be more therapeutic in order to decrease stress. This essay will
consider how hospitals can be considered more therapeutic and what aspects contribute to this.
Ulrich, Zimring, Quan, and Joseph (2004) study illustrates the effect of the environment on
physical as well as a psychological effect on patients. This study shows how decreasing a patients
stress levels via modifications to the environment can improve health outcomes. There are many
ways in which we can adapt the physical environment of a hospital in order to make it more

1.1 Introduction to Global City Theory
Academic thinking surrounding cities prior to the global recession of the early 1980s was
somewhat limited in its understanding of international influences on the attributes and
characteristics of said cities. Their analysis was limited by boundaries of national or regional
boarders and the hierarchies that these dictate (Taylor, 2003). The national scale was at this point
the principle scale on which cities where categorised and ranked. Brenner et al state that:
The possibility that urban development or the formation of urban hierarchies might be conditioned
by supranational or global forces was not systematically explored.

this paper the key characteristics of a global city will be identified however for this introduction,
global cities theory or as it was known at the time World CityTheory can be summarised into the
following quote:
World cities are the control centres of the global economy. Their status, of course, is evolving in
the measure that given regions are integrated in a dominant role with the world system. And like
the golden cities of ancient empires, they draw into themselves the wealth of the world that is ruled
by them. They become the major points for the accumulation of capital and all that money can buy.
They are luxurious, splendid cities whose very splendour obscures the poverty on which their
wealth is based. The juxtaposition is not merely spatial; it is a functional relation: rich and poor
define each other.
(Friedmann, et al, 1982, p5)
This creates a narrative of inherent inequality within global cities, that will be explored in the
following text. By using this as a starting point to asses the functioning of cities, this paper will
draw upon various international cities to compare and contrast individual effects of globalisation.

While Western medicine has a strong scientific basis, Traditional Chinese Medicinedeveloped
gradually through China s long history, and is very strongly influenced by Taoist beliefs. For
example, in TCM there are twelve major organs, six yin and six yang . Each of these organs are
then associated with one of the Five Elements, water, wood, fire, earth, and metal. For a Chinese
medicinal practitioner, a disease would be caused by an imbalance of these twelve organs, and
would say something like, too much Fire in the Lungs as a problem of imbalance. Straightforward
interactions between doctor and patient would thus be more common in TCM in order to identify
where the imbalance arose through life choices and the environment. The doctor is not limited to
treating only physical illnesses, but also illnesses of the mind. The symptoms and differentiating
the issue would arise during this step of communication with the patient, which is bolstered by
examining the patient s qi. A fundamental of TCM is qi , which includes Yin and Yang
, as qi is
believed to be spiritual energy and is a part of all movement, such like the flow of the cosmos
(Kaptchuk). Qi itself can be divided into many different categories, with Meridian qi being the
most important for medicine. TCM views the body as a collective whole where qi flows through
body, with an imbalance of qi leading to the disease in question. The more fixed or chronic the
condition, the more

Walter Elias Disney
Walter Elias Disney was a film producer, cartoonist, screenwriter, and one of the first innovators
for animation. He invented and was the founder Disneyland, an enormous theme park for family
and friends of any age. These two theme parks are still popular and known throughout the entire
world. He is known as a legend to the world.
Walt Disney was born on December 5, 1901 in Hermosa, Illinois. His father was Elias Disney and
his mother was Flora Call Disney. Walt Disney has three brothers and a was also a cartoonist for
his school. Later on, at the age of 16, Walter decided to join the army, but, because of his young
age, Walter was rejected. However, Walter joined the Red Cross and was sent to France to drive an
ambulance for the following year.
When Walt Disney returned from France in 1919, he moved back to Kansas City to achieve his
career as a newspaper artist. Soon, Walt s brother, Roy, found him a job at the Pesmen Rubin Art
Studio, and there he had a chance to meet up with the cartoonist, Ub Iwerks. Afterwards, Walter
started working at the Kansas City Film Ad Company. He made commercials based on cutout
animation while working there. During this time, Walter started experimenting with a camera and
did hand drawn animation. His love for animation and for drawing came to a conclusion to open up
his own business as an animator.

23. Privatization of Russian Industries
For some, the privatization of Russian industry has been one of the great success stories of Russia
s painful economic transition: quick, firm and radical action was taken to shift the great bulk of
Russian industry out of state hands, thereby laying the basis for a radical restructuring of
enterprises and improvements in their performance. Others see privatization as a best a failure, at
worst a catastrophe. Not surprisingly those opposed to the market and economic reform as a whole
sharethis view. But many commentators who see themselves as supporters of reform find plenty in
Russian privatization to criticize: the process led to the transfer of ownershipto inappropriate people

Collective ownership derives either from a natural alliance between managers and rank and file
employees, probably based on Soviet traditions of paternalism and the В‘social contract , or from
the need of managers to pander to workers who control a majority of voting rights at shareholder
meetings. Although some observers might find a collective ownership outcome desirable, on the
grounds that it provides for workplace democracy and high incentive work habits, reform oriented
commentators generally find it a form of ownership likely to lead to the maintenance of excessively
high levels of underemployed staff and an over concentration on consumption at the expense of
investment.
The management ownership outcome derives from the ability of management to totally dominate
divided, demoralized or indifferent rank and file employees. The argument that they do so by
bribing employees with promises of secure employment and the maintenance of social welfare
provisions is essentially the same as that presented in the previous paragraph on collective
ownership. However, there is an increasing awareness among commentators that any Soviet
paternalism and coincidence of management worker interests that might have once existed have not
survived the rigors of the transition and the self interest of managers. As A.S. Bim puts it:
Given serious В‘positional differences between managers and other employees, it seemed

On October 3, 1955 one of America s most immense juror cases had finally announced a verdict ,
O.J Simpson was found not guilty in killing his wife Nicole Brown Simpson and Ron Goldman
Nicole s friend. Only to find out years later that O.J. was actually guilty for this crime, when
detectives went to O.J. s estate home they found multiple evidence such as blood all over his white

States justicesystem so corrupt and prejudice to the point that they let a guilty man free just because
of his social status and money. Simpson displays the main topic in the short story 12 Angry Men
which is whether the United States has a prejudice unfair justice system. Sidney Lumetand Reginald

briefly discuss a trial and come to a verdict , personal issues develop which causes conflict and

The experiences and information each generation has can be used as a tool for building rapport
and presents an opportunity to learn something new. However, the approach to managing all five
generations requires managers to assign tasks based on the actual work behaviors and
performance shown by each person, regardless of age and in a manner that uses each person s
strengths. Managers should pair older or younger employees that have limited knowledge about
technologically demanding tasks with younger employees (Gen X and Y) who are able to offer

Design is a huge factor when deploying wearable technologies and eHealth systems. Unless there
is a good design that is not bulky and is easy to use, users will not want to adopt the new product.
The second barrier is data collection, with the rise of wearable technology and eHealth
applications the collection of data has been increasing. Data collection is the center of all
applications and wearables. How is data being used or what is the company storing? This is a
huge barrier due to the fact that more people are becoming aware of their personal privacy. With
phones your GPS is tracked unless specifically turned off and you are able to get a workout at a
click of a button. But with all of this data being collected, are companies only using it for your
personal use or are they using it for another matter (Hooge, 2015)? Data collection is a barrier
due to the fact that people do not know what the companies are using the data for. Most users of
the wearables or eHealth applications do not own their data, the data is instead stored and
collected by the companies. Users only get provided with a summary of the data collected while
the company has free reign to do whatever they please with it. With the increase of people
understanding their privacy and rights, it provides a barrier with wearables and eHealth
applications as people want to understand how their data is being used (Piwek, Ellis,

3.) What are the parts of TCP/IP and what do they do? Who is the primary user of TCP/IP?
TCP/IP is the transport/network layer protocol we use on the internet. Many BN S, MAN s and
WAN s rely on it. This is because it is relatively efficient, and transmission has few errors. Any
errors that are found, are checked and so large files can be sent even in the most unsafe network
and the data will still be unchanged. TCP/IP is very compatible with a number of data link
protocols as well.
The two parts of the TCP/IP are the: Transport Layer Protocol and the Network Layer Protocol
aka TCP and IP. TCP is what links the application layer to the network layer. It also helps by

* The network layer address is used primarily by network layer software. A web address is
translated into an IP address via a network layer protocol (in this case, IP used on the internet.) The
IP address translated can be 4 bytes long with IPv4 (e.g., 129.79.127.4), which is today s standard.
The process can be compared to looking up a name in a find book to find their phone number. *
When it comes to routing, the network layer; is what finds the data link layer address of the next
corresponding computer that the message has to be sent to. The easiest way to interpret this, is to
look at it with Ethernet software. For example, if the data link layer is run using Ethernet, the
network layer IP address would have to be translated into an Ethernet address so they can match
and understand each other. Ethernet addresses are six bytes in length. The following table below,
shows a better picture of the differences in software and addresses amongst the three. (Fitzgerald,

33. A Letter From The Birmingham Jail
The primary goal of a sermon in church is to convince or persuade the congregation to turn to
God and follow his ways and beliefs. A sermon is commonly broken up into several subsections
beginning with (1) an introduction to establish a common ground of religious feeling ; (2) a
statement of the text which is often drawn directly from the Bible; (3) the body of the sermon,
which consists of repeated emotional climaxes; and (4) the conclusion which resolves the
emotional tension aroused by the sermon by drawing the sinners to God. (Pipes 143). Based on
these characteristics and King s religious background and experience as a preacher, it is logical
to argue that the structure of A Letter from the Birmingham Jail resembles that of a sermon which
is aimed at an audience much larger than that of just eight clergymen. Through his brilliant use of
persuasive methods and emotional appeal, Martin Luther King turns a simple response to a letter
into a national cause for white support to combat segregation. He begins his letter by stating that
he is writing this letter while confined here in the Birmingham City Jail (King 2). However
although one in such conditions for being wrongly convicted and forced to write this within small
jail walls would be expected to be hostile, King s tone is instead calm and patient. He addresses
his attackers as my dear fellow clergymen (2). And even apologized that they expressed different
opinions (3). This, to an open audience, gives

Through the investigation of the changes occurring from the first European presence in the Muslim
world to the end of the Ottoman Empire, this essay attempts to answer why the Armenian
genocide occurred. The Ottoman Empire started its decline when Napoleon entered Egypt in
1798. Napoleon brought along with him armies but also a new culture. The British did the same
with Moghul India. The elite and people in positions of power were impressed by what the
Europeans and the Americans were doing and seeing how powerful and successful they were. The
Turks in the Ottoman Empire wanted the same. The Young Turks overthrew the Sultan of the time
and started a reform of the Ottoman Empire to try to salvage it. The Young Turks also believed
that all people regardless of religion or ethnicity deserved the same rights.
The Armenians were one of the ethnicities that were in the minority. They obtained more rights
when the policy was put in place. Before the Armenians received their right they were rebelling
against the Ottomans. This was frightening to the majority. Massacres of the minorities, especially
the Armenians started well before 1915, but the killings progressed in 1915. Many of the
Armenians were deported and forced to leave their homes. In 1915

mid nineteen hundreds. While it is obvious that a woman who in her own right is racist, chauvinist,
and ignorant to the way that the world really works wrote the novel, it has been requested that the
class write a paper on the story. Whilst this writer does not agree with this novelor anything that
Alice Walkerthinks or feels, obligingly this paper is been written. The Color Purpleand the Joy
Luck Club had many similarities, the most notably the presence of weak, ill bred, and quite frankly
embarrassing male characters.
The most obvious example of one of these unfortunate male characters is of course Albert from ...

So instead I tell my mother this: I don t really know. It s something we started before we got
married. And for some reason we never stopped. (Tan 177)
It is clear from the tone of the discussion that the idea hurts Lena inside, especially since she
makes less than Harold. Amy Tan wrote it this way so that the reader would pity Lean and see
Harold as a money grubbing bastard.
Rich is the second example of a weak male character in The Joy Luck Club, and his main flaw is
gross ignorance. His new live in girlfriend is Waverly. An entire section of the book is dedicated
to the first meeting between Rich and Waverly s mother and father. During the entire section, Rich
makes one blunder after another. He brought a lovely bottle of red wine for dinner, not knowing
that the Chinese do not stereotypically drink wine. He fumbled with the chopsticks, took huge
portions and refused seconds, and regrettably added a hefty amount of soy sauce to all of the food.
In possibly the biggest blunder of the night not only did he call Lindo and Tin Jong by their first
names but he butchered them calling them Linda and Tim. At the end of the night his ignorance
came into play again;
I knew he had failed miserably in her eyes.
Rich obviously had a different opinion on how

There have been a myriad of topics covered during the Intermediate Level Education Common Core
(C100) portion that are beneficial to Field Grade officers in the Army. These include classes ranging
from symbology to organizational structure to individual development plans. After careful
consideration of all the lessons introduced in the C100 module, the most important and beneficial
class that officers should use during their time in the Army and long after they get out is C171

Effective communication can be in non verbal, verbal or written form. There are several factors
that the sender of the message has to take into consideration and understand in order for that to
happen: understand what they are trying to convey, the audience receiving the message and how
the audience will perceive the message. New Field Grade officers will be assigned to levels in
the Army and DoD that they have not been accustomed to working at while they were Company
Gade officers. Some will have direct daily contact with General officers. Others will be assigned to
Joint assignments where the terminology they are accustomed to will seem like a foreign language
to others. An example of understanding the audience that is receiving the message would be to take
the simple phrase secure the building as understood by member of different services:
The Army will post guards around the place.
The Navy will turn out the lights and lock the doors.
The Marines will kill everybody inside and set up a headquarters
The Air Force will take out a 5 year lease with an option to buy.2 Although the above example is
intended to be humorous it directly proves the point that different branches of service have
different meanings for the same word and/or phrase. This is why it is imperative for senders of a
message to understand their audience and know how their audience will perceive a message.

43. Term Limits In American Politics
For many years in American politics there are constantly debates on whether or not there should be
term limits imposed on politicians. Term limits have worked their way through Congress into
many cities and counties across America. With much support for term limits from Americans, it
shows how unsatisfied they are with politicians. But there are other ways to get politicians out of
office without term limits. With peoples vote there can be someone new to take the role and do a
better job than the last. Term limits would also decrease experience and would not help anyone
gain more knowledge for their job. In essence, limits are not needed for United StatesSenators and
Representatives. All Americans eighteen and older have a right to vote. If people do not like their
current U.S. Senator or Representative that is running in an election for another term, they simply
do not have to vote for him or her. When an official is not making the best decisions and/or
choices, it is up to the people to make a... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Without term limits both can prosper and become better at their job. With time they can find out
what people want and what they do not want. They find out things that cannot work and things
that will work while they serve. Every term they serve, Senators and Representatives learn more
about not only their job but gain insight on what senior members of Congress do as well. As a
member of the House of Representatives one term is only two years. If there are term limits
imposed what kind of experience can they obtain? Then in fact, what is the point of running for a
seat in the House if you were only guaranteed it for two years? What can they get done in two
years? It is a very short time and nothing would ever get done with Representatives or Senators
always changing every one or two

44. Baseball and Its History Essay
Baseball is an immensely popular American game, known as the national pastime, played
between two teams of nine players each. The basic implements used in the game are a leather
covered ball, wooden bats for hitting the ball, and gloves for catching it. Baseball is played on a
large scale in Latin America, Japan, and other places besides the United States, but it is in the
United States that it thrives both as a participant s and spectators sport.
It is played at its highest level in the United States and two
Canadian cities, where 26 teams make up the American and National Leagues (each with two
divisions, East and
West). Combined, these leagues are called major league
(professional) baseball. Most players who reach the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Their success helped spread professionalism, and the National
Association of Professional Base Ball Players operated a loose league for five years (1871 75) until
the owners formed the National League of Professional Base Ball
Clubs in 1876 and made baseball a business. The independent American Association (1882 91)
prospered by allowing Sunday games and the sale of beer in the stadium. Both leagues survived the
rival Union
Association s challenge in 1884, but in 1890 the athletes formed the Players League, which
financially pressed the
National League and mortally wounded the American
Association. In 1892 the eight team National League absorbed four American Association teams,
but it reverted to eight teams after 1899. In 1901 the American League declared itself a major
league, invaded National League cities, and raided the older league for players. The result of the
eventual truce was the World Series, which has been played every year since 1903 except 1904,
when the
New York Giants refused to meet the American League champions (Boston). The major leagues
successfully met the challenge of the Federal League (1914 15). But further problems arose with
the revelation that eight members of the Chicago White Sox had conspired to throw the 1919
World Series to Cincinnati. Only the appointment of Judge
Kenesaw Mountain LANDIS as commissioner and the introduction of a livelier ball saved the game.
