Bronchiolitis Case Study
1.Urticaria, unspecified (ICD 10 L50.9) Drug reactions are a major health concern. These reactions
usually occur on the skin. Most reactions occur as maculopapular or urticarial. Some reactions can
also cause eosinophilia. The rash usually appears on the trunk and will expand to the extremities.
These reactions can be caused by antihistamines, antibiotics, digoxin, steroid hormones, and
acetaminophen (Hoetzenecker et al., 2016). S/S rash that started on the trunk and abdomen, now
on the bilateral cheeks. The patient has also been given medications that contain antihistamines and

2.EDUCATION
Do not give OTC cough medications. The FDA does not recommend giving cough medications
under the age of 4 because of adverse drug reactions and increased emergency room visits (Fan,
Leonard Segal, Sahajwalla, 2013).
Treat fever with medications. She can also try giving cool oral fluids, or trying cool compresses. If

temperature (Schub, Wooten, 2017).
Push oral fluids. Pedialyte helps prevent dehydration by replacing electrolytes. Make sure that he
is having 3 4 wet diapers a day.
Red Flags: Take the patient to the ER if there are signs and symptoms of worsening condition
before tomorrow. These would be increased work of breathing, stridor (high pitched sound with
inspiration), not eating or drinking or high fever that will not break (Petrocheilou et al.,

Characteristics Of Organized Crime
In the early 20th century, millions of Italians came to the United States as poor immigrants. Many
of these immigrants found their new home in New York City, New York. Thus began the
formation of the renowned New York Mafia. Defining characteristics of the New York Mafia give
insight into the formation, intention, and conservation thereof. A couple of sociological theories
can be used to describe the propagation of one of America s most renowned organized crime
syndicates.
With many organized crime syndicates, it can be difficult to discern one from another. The New
York Mafia has characteristics reflective of organized crime in general, as well as characteristics
that distinguish it from other syndicates. As far as characteristics ... Show more content on

Richard Scott describes this structure as Natural System , where members share a common
interest in the survival of the system but are not necessarily guided by the organization s goals.
The organized crime unit is more than an instrument for attaining defined goals; it is
fundamentally a social group attempting to adapt and survive in a dangerous environment
(Abadinsky 2016:46). Each member of the Mafia, called a Made Guy , is independent in that he
does not receive a salary from the group. Basically, each member is a franchise manager, who
engages in criminal activity with the support and protection of the Mafia.
When the Italians came to the United States in the late 1900 s, the economy was molded by the
likes of the Rockefellers, the Astors, and the Vanderbilts. This economical formation created
limited opportunities for the middle and, especially, the lower classes. The socioeconomic
disadvantage established upon the Italian immigrants leads many to seek success via illegal
means. This criminal behavior was exacerbated by the [reproduction of] the kind of illegal
groups they had belonged to in the old country (Abadinsky 2016:43). The New York Mafia s
formation was likely twofold: illegal behavior was vital to any semblance of financial success for
the Italian immigrants, and the immigrants were replicating the same kind of criminal groups that
they were familiar with back in Italy. The former can be tied to the Strain Theory. There is

The Importance Of Bias In Literature
Few modern authors have had as profound an effect on their genre, society, political debate, or
literature in general as Robert Heinlein. Science fiction author Ken Macleod suggests that the
world was having a dialogue with Heinlein, unfortunately, one of the unintentional consequences
of dialogue is misunderstanding, some of which is caused by reader bias (Macleod, James,
Mendlesohn 231). Bias is dangerous to readers and they should, consequently, avoid it for at
least three reasons; first, it causes a work or author to be regarded in many contradicting ways;
second, it creates an atmosphere in which faulty arguments are made, and third, it results in
significant elements of the story being ignored. Though, one should not construe this in such a
way as to denote that this report is so much about the book itself as about the overall scope of it
in relation to Heinlein, the bias levied for or against the book and him as well as their overall
message, and the meaning of the work itself. It is vital that it be understood that in this context bias
is any tendency to judge something either more or less favorably based on preexisting notions
rather than on the data presented. It is equally important to understand that the human mind looks
for patterns, the term for this phenomenon is pareidolia, in which people see hidden faces in clouds
or even hear nonexistent messages in songs. It is because the mind seeks to recognize patterns,
even where none exist. Similarly, people who

The Brown Auto Company Essay
The Brown Auto Company At the Brown Auto Company, the two partners divided the
operational responsibilities. Robert performed the duties of the primary salesman and the chief
mechanic whereas his brother, Harry, more commonly called Skin, ran the office. The Ford
Motor Company shipped each Model T, colloquially nicknamed the Tin Lizzie, into Bradley on
the Chicago, Milwaukee, St. Paul Railroad only partially assembled. Since the body, frame,
engine, wheels, doors, and windows, each came as parts; the brothers completed the assembly
on the rail siding before driving them to the garage. The Brown Auto Company, which used
Bradley s Fourth of July parade to advertise their product, on at least one occasion, obtained
assistance from Robert s multi talented wife, Bessie, for the design and construction of a float.
Using Ford s colors, Bessie decorated the float, which featured a Model T on a flatbed truck, by
sewing many strips of crГЄpe together to create a huge blue and white hoop skirt around the car.
The float prominently displayed Ford s motto, Henry s Made a Lady out of Lizzie. Selling cars
sometimes required overcoming unique challenges. The owner of Carson s Ranch, Lloyd Carson,
held a contest to determine if he would buy a Ford or a Chevrolet. A Model T from the Brown
Auto Company driven by Robert Brown competed against a Chevrolet from a dealership in
Watertown, South Dakota. Mr. Carson had a long driveway that went around a slough before it

HEDGE FUNDS
To escape income tax returns these are famous as they are not susceptible to high tax rates on
ordinary income and short term capital gains.
What is a Foundation?
It can be said as a pool of money with a group of employees to invest that money and also give a
part of the pool to organizations with a set of objectives. Donated money is tax exemplary. To get
tax free status at least 5% of the foundation must be distributed. The returns are taxed only if the
returns are from the businesses run by the foundation. It can be invested in off shore as well.
Foundations as Hedge Fund Investors
Convertible bond strategies and fixed income strategies are the favorable ones which has a
leverage of 6:1 to 40:1 unless it is an off shore. Foundations take help of consultants for investing in
hedge funds. They help in recognizing the portfolio of investment and the industry to enter into, It
is quite often they take the aid of consultants. ENDOWMENTS AND HEDGE FUNDS
It is similar to a foundation except that it is concerned with a philanthropic organization. It is
created to fund a portion of the expense in that organization

Harrison Bergeron Analysis
Harrison Bergeron Short Story Essay
It takes courage to stand up for one s beliefs, and not everyone is bold enough to take the chance.
Freedom, taking risks, and just living in the moment is displayed in the short story of Harrison
Bergeron , when Harrison tries to break free from under the government s laws in the future. In
society, everyone is different, and has their own hopes and dreams in their lives that are aimed to
be pursued like in Harrison Bergeron. The theme Total equality isn t an ideal worth striving for, but
a mistaken goal that is dangerous in both execution and outcome is the statement the other is trying
to communicate. Kurt Vonnegut, in Harrison Bergeron, helps develop the theme through satire and
characterization.
Citizens are all equal and no one is above anyone else. The setting is takes place in the future, the
year of 2081. To begin with, Kurt Vonnegut uses satire to introduce the theme. In Harrison
Bergeron, the author states All equality [is] due to the 211th, 212th, and 213th Amendments to the
Constitution, and to the unceasing vigilance of agent of the United States Handicapper General
(Vonnegut). Readers can tell the quote is sarcastic because the U.S doesn t have as near as that
many amendments yet. In other words, sarcasm read in the tone helps indicate the satire in the
beginning of the story. Therefore, the satire in the quote, shows how the author develops the theme
into the story. With this in mind, characterization is also a way the

The Importance Of Learning A Second Language
Should schoolchildren be required to learn a second or even third language from a young age?
According to studies at the Cornell Language Acquisition Lab (CLAL), children who learn a second
language can maintain attention despite outside stimuli better than those who know only one
language. Learning foreign languages from a young age is much easier than trying to pick one up
later in life, researchers say that their elementary brains are most receptive to picking it up and
enabling them to speak the languagefluently with little or no hint of a foreign accent. Schools
around the country are struggling to keep their foreign languageprograms alive. My interest in this
topic has developed from my cousins, who live out in California who have been taught a foreign
from a younger age, and the school I went to didn t start teaching it until the ninth grade.
Learning a second language from a young age can be beneficial for students, as Jamaal Abdul alim
talks about in his article, States are teaching core content in other tongues. In his article, he wrote
a quote from Hendrik J. Haarmann, the area director of cognitive neuroscience at the University
of Maryland Center for Advanced Study of Language saying, Early age is the best time to be
introduced to a foreign language because the mind/brain is most plastic at that age in terms of its
ability to learn a language. Preschool, early elementary aged students brains are developing rapidly
making it easier for them to adapt to

Summary Of The Song Changes By Charles Bradley
Changes by Charles Bradley is a song that resonates with me as a song that triggers an emotional
response. The song was first released in 2013 and is a cover of the 1972 band Black Sabbath
(Cory, 2017). It is apparent by the title that the topic for the song is the changes that the artist is
going through or has gone through in his life. At the very beginning of the song, Bradley says
She was my woman. I loved her so. But it s too late now. I ve let her go... But soon the world. Had
its evil way , which illustrates the loss of a partner but is still ambiguous in how he lost her but
one can infer it was due to death (Cory, 2017). Now, any time a song refers to the death of a loved
one, it is easy to sympathize with because we have all lost... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

When I first heard the song, I immediately searched for it on the internet and listened to the
whole version because I thought it was such a powerful song. The lyrics of the song tell a story,
it is one of pain and sorrow, but it s a story that I think everyone can relate to. The lyrics are very
simple and they all come together to form a detailed depiction of Bradley s emotions. When I
hear Bradley sing about his loss, it triggers me into thinking about the loved ones that I have lost.
The rhythm of the song is very slow pace and calm, which sets the mood for Bradley s gritty deep
voice, but when the chorus hits, then the saxophone jumps in to excite the whole song. The beat is
soft enough to induce a deep thought and when the chorus hits, you do not get the usual sense of
excitement but rather one of contempt delight. Lastly, the artist is another thing that triggers a
Dionysian response for me, the reason being that Bradley looks just like my grandfather that
passed about a year ago. Every time I see Bradley, I think of my grandfather and all of the time I
spent with him, not to mention that the author s last name matches that of my family. Overall, I
would say that the emotional response that I get when I hear this song is one of blissfulness and

Essay on William Blake
William Blake
William Blake is one of England s most famous literary figures. He is remembered and admired for
his skill as a painter, engraver, and poet. He was born on Nov. 28, 1757 to a poor Hosier s family
living in or around London. Being of a poor family, Blake received little in the way of comfort or
education while growing up. Amazingly, he did not attend school for very long and dropped out
shortly after learning to read and write so that he could work in his father s shop. The life of a
hosier however was not the right path for Blake as he exhibited early on a skill for reading and
drawing. Blake s skill for reading can be seen in his understanding for and use of works such as the
Bible and Greek classic literature. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These figures are the characters in many of his works. The role of Religion as a strong influence
in Blake s life was probably formed by the events he experienced during his upbringing. Blake
came from a poor family and among other hardships witnessed the death of his older brother
Robert at the relatively young age of 20. Robert s death had a profound impact on Blake and
after witnessing it he said that he saw his brother s soul ascend heavenward clapping its hands for
joy . The inspiration that William received from his brother death is an underlying theme in many
of his works and most likely in his view of life as well. Songs of Innocence and Songs of
Experience are two of Blake s collections that emphasize his ideas. Many of the things that
affected Blake s life as a child: poverty, struggle, loss, confusion, and faith can be seen in these
works.
Songs of Innocence and Songs of Experience are contrasting views of the same events. Each
contains a collection of poems that profile an idea, figure, or event. In Songs of Innocence the
world is viewed through the Eyes of someone like a child, who has little life experience. In Songs
of Experience the same world is looked at only this time from the standpoint of someone who has
experience in life, most likely an adult. The major difference between the two viewpoints is the
understanding for life and

Ancient Athenian Women Essay
In ancient Athens, there were different levels of courtesans: concubines, street women, hetaeras,
and music or flute girls. This trade, however, was not restricted to women men were also sold as
commodities. These women plied their trade according to their social stature, in the streets,
symposiums or brothels. The symposium played a huge role in the sexual life of the ancient
Athenians often an outlet for not just sexual desire, but all desires. The economics of prostitution in
ancient Athens was complex, most times treating women and men as commodities. Similarities and
differences can be found between ancient Athenians and today s western world and their attitudes
towards sexual behavior the most prominent difference being the Athenians goal of moderation and

Sometimes they were purchased and kept for pleasure; other times they were purchased with the
promise of freedom (Davidson, pg. 81). Men and women even had a resale value (Davidson, pg.
82). Some workers were taken care of by the people who purchased them; most, however, were
controlled by pimps (Davidson, pg. 79). The street women barely made enough to make it
through a twenty four hour span, the slave girls in the brothels made profits for the brothel
keeper, and the professional party girl lived off her talents (Davidson, pg. 86). At the
symposiums, women were hired for entertainment as well as sexual pleasure by people of merit:
artists, poets and political aristocrats (Davidson, pg. 77). Women would often be paid for their
company, not just the act of sex (Davidson, pg. 77). The symposium is the most familiar face of
Greek prostitution, it was the place where beautiful and witty women exchanged jokes and double
entandres (Davidson, pg. 78). The parties opened up the accessibility of food, alcohol and sex to a
society that believed in moderation this could threaten the Athenians

The Importance Of The Warrior Class In Japan
The Warrior class were part of the social class in Japan that included Shoguns, Daimyos and
Samurais. The Shoguns would rule the Daimyos, who had control over the Samurais. Japan s
warrior class led to a lasting effect, enhanced weapons and effect on the social class which led to
the alteration of the warrior class roles.
In Japan, during the end of the first millennium, the samurai went to war with the emperor. This
war is known as the Genpei War and the Emperor was defeated by the Samurai. This led to the first
established shogunate. During the Edo period (1603 1868) or also known as the Tokugawa
shogunate, there was an era of stability that led to the rise of shoguns. Shoguns were considered
the single ruler of Japan although, the emperor was above the shoguns on the social class.
Tokugawa Ieyasu ruled Japan for 15 generations, controlling about 25% of the peoples land,
leaving the rest of the 75% to be put into domains, ruled by 275 daimyos. The shogun of Japan
controlled government, however, when the Meiji Restoration began in the 19th century, Japans
stable society ended and the Shoguns lost all power, due to Matthew Perry. Matthew Perry was
a Christian who was seen as a threat to Japan as he wanted to create a divide within Japan. Japan
was split into two sections, one being the shogunate and its supporters to remain in power and the
Japanese nationalists who wanted the Emperor to regain power. This divide in Japan led to a civil
war known as the Boshin war or the

you re located will determine the different types of dialect you might hear. For instance, in the
Northern part of Germany, you might hear a more Danish dialect; in the South, you might

The And Harmony And The Implementation Of World Wide Equality
INTRODUCTION Music has the ability to convey emotions and observatory feeling without
censorship or the reservation of diction and language as one would in a normal conversation. In
today s modern society there are sensitive topics that do not necessarily arise attention in
newspaper headlines or in any print for that matter. As observatory humans we tend to take note
of outside issues and express them in ways where others can understand and interpret them.
Interracial peace and harmony and the implementation of world wide equality is an idea that all
Americans have been exposed to throughout our lifetime by means of music. An example of this
open way of thinking or A typical American ideology of equal opportunity is given to us by an
artist of the name Stevie Wonder. Through Stevie Wonders song Black man from the album
Songs in the Key of Life (1976) the song is a positive implication to the pointing out of skin
colors in different races and the contributions that have been made to society various forms of
life, he exemplifies the idea that we are all created equal and we can all contribute to society in a
positive way. The song demonstrates an upbeat tempo along with a joyful and higher pitched vocal
inflection blesses the song with a positive and uplifting spirit. A more modern and uniquely
different interpretation of social outrage through music is The Power of Equality by The Red Hot

Case Analysis Of Sabmiller
The company s strategy of focusing on local brands has produced positive results in terms of
volume sales performance in African and Latin American markets.
SABMiller s strong presence in Middle East and Africa and Latin America, and high CAGR for
the 2013 2018 period, is expected to strengthen its position globally and support its strategy of
local branding. In emerging markets, consumer tastes are much more diverse and localised, and
SABMiller responds to this via the development of provincial beers where product distribution is

A Theory Of Current Interest
Full description of a theory of current interest in the field of marketing Trust Commitment theory
Trust and commitment appear to be illusive entities. Without trust and commitment of some type, it
is very difficult to conduct business long term. What follows is an analysis of current views of what
trust and commitment actually means. Current view of trust and commitment With regard to
commitment, the current view is that which differentiates believability from the extension of
goodwill (Amani, 2015). Secondly, the view is such that commitment is actually a normative rather
than a calculative affair, as was thought to be the case in the past (Amani, 2015). Finally, this view
regarding trust and commitment is one of a relationship that is built on customers who are simply
dissatisfied with other suppliers of goods and services and settle on the supplier that leaves them
the least dissatisfied (Amani, 2015). What this means is that, although trust and commitment appear
to be illusive entities in today s competitive marketplace, this is apparently a view that states that
there is a normative element associated with commitment and trust (Amani, 2015). This normative
component likely bridges the gap between dissatisfied customers and those customers who are
simply less dissatisfied with a given supplier and, therefore, remain loyal. In other words, loyalty is
the key to maintaining a high level of commitment on the part of buyers. Trust Trust also has sub
dimensions,

There are 15 principal grand strategies that are aimed at helping a business reach its long term goals.
Concentrated Growth
Concentrated growth is the first strategy of the fifteen principal grand strategies, Pearce Robinson
(2015) define concentration growth as firms that direct resources to the profitable growth of a
single product, in a single market, with a single dominant technology. Concentrated growth
typically sees the most success in mature markets where the product market is not saturated.
Concentrated growth is one of the lowest risk strategies, but only when used in a stable market
because it typically does not perform well in a market with a lot of up and down movement. A
volatile market could be disastrous if a company focuses in on one product and the market crashes
down around it. Sacramento Business College could potentially use concentrated growth to build
strength in one of their three major programs to build stronger enrollment and program upgrades.
The Information Technology (IT) program would benefit the most from adopting a concentrated
growth strategy because upgrading the curriculum would be fairly simple compared the other
programs and would be the most profitable program to have increased enrollment in.

The Death Penalty Is The Punishment Of Execution
The death penalty is the punishment of execution, administered to someone legally convicted of a
capital crime (law.cornell.edu, 2015). The first Congress of the United States authorized the federal
death penalty on June 25, 1790 (deathpenalty.org, 2011). The death penalty can also be referred to
as capital punishment, however capital punishment also includes a sentence to life in prison, as
opposed to strictly executions. A convict can be sentenced to death by various methods including
lethal injection, electrocution, gas chamber, firing squad, and hanging. After the death penalty was
established, many debates have arisen arguing that these methods violate several of the United
States Amendments. Select cases have been accused of violating the Sixth, Eighth, and Fourteenth
Amendments. It is important to note that the judiciary goes through a series of processes prior to
deciding a sentence for a capital crime. Many factors influencing the verdict include proportional
analysis, individualized sentencing, method of execution, and classes of people not eligible of the
death penalty. This paper will discuss brief descriptions of the methods used for executions,
economical issues, the Supreme Court s opinion regarding the death penalty, as well as important
factors that make up the proportional analysis, individual sentencing process, method used, and
determining classes of people who are not eligible for the death penalty. Less popular methods that

Now before it was mentioned that a strength the commercial had was the fact that it was aired
during the 2011 Super Bowl but at the same time tat was also a weakness. Now the commercials
during the Super Bowl get a lot of popularity but they do not get much screen time for 2 major
reasons. The first being it costs millions of dollars to get a commercial to air during the Super
Bowl and second, many other companies want to get a commercial to air also so the time has to
be split evenly. Little screen time means sacrificing vital information for the commercial. In
other words, the commercial was good at making itself memorable and fun to watch but it did
not display many features or specifications about the car that are important when someone is in
the market to buy a car. The only feature Volkswagen showed was the fact that you could click a

Personal Narrative-Sacrifice In America
The rays of cold sun escaping through the translucent clouds below resembled the clear,
peacefulness below me, clearing the freshly fallen heaps of snow. After weeks of both kindness and
crimes, thankfully I have witnessed no murderous intentions. My attention, although it radiates
throughout the world, is focused upon a certain area in America, in which no name is exigent,

by the handful to be, where upon they hit the ground only three count inches from her feet.
Throughout the cold, every home had smoke rising from the chimney in grey heaps toward the blue

Reading Literature Makes Us Smarter And Nicer By Annie...
In the article Reading Literature Makes Us Smarter and Nicer by Annie Murphy Paul (2013) the
author admonishes that deep reading increases our capacity of empathy on real life situations. Paul
acknowledges the argument that Gregory Currie, professor of philosophy at the University of
Nottingham says about how there is no evidence that people become morally/socially better for
reading great books. However, Paul continues to support that reading enhances our way of life and
understandingof individuals. Deep reading affects our way of culture, understanding, and knowledge
in a positive way.
By reading books and becoming engaged in them, it gives the reader a new sense of an ecstatic
experience as Paul states. If a reader is enjoying a book, thy will take their time to read it and
become deep in reflection of their own self. They can connect the ideas from a book to their own
lives, and even establish some opinions of their own on what they are reading, which improves
our culture as a society. By encouraging other people to read, and young people to read earlier,
they can have a finer chance to acquire the skill of spiritual reading. In today s society, many
young people have become more engaged in technology, excluding out the other ways to explore
the world. However, they can experience both without having to sacrifice one over the other, and
it benefits them in the long run. My younger brother, who is two years old, knows how to work a

A Experiment On Actin And Myosin
Abstract
Research was conducted on Actin and Myosin protein; chains of amino acid residue responsible for
muscle contraction in muscle cells. Through phosphorylation, which causes changes in enzyme
activity as result of an alteration in protein conformation, the Myosin Light Chain ВЅ stimulates and
subsequently contracts the smooth muscle. Concentrations of the protein were determined and
analyzed among Catfish, Atlantic Salmon, Sockeye Salmon, Shrimp, Red Tuna, Red Snapper,
Tilapia, and Wild Cod. Electrophoresis provided a method of visualization of the samples, where
Immunodection was then used to identify Actin/Myosin Light Chain ВЅ proteins. Wild Cod
expressed the most Myosin LC ВЅ protein, whereas Shrimp expressed the least. Furthermore, both
Wild Cod and Shrimp differed considerably in comparison to the determined volume intensity of the
other seafood samples, which were closer in expression levels with one another. Animal behavior
and habitat are factors that have overtime resulted in the overall amount and subsequent use of
muscle. Thus analyzing the variance in Actin/Myosin ВЅ light chain protein expression serves as a
tool in understanding adaptation and evolution among species.
Introduction Actin and Myosin proteins serve the primary role of producing muscle contraction.
Myosin molecules will create pressure in the skeletal muscle, where ATP hydrolysis causes Myosin
to bind to Actin. A conformational change of the molecule then result in Myosin being

The Beaufy of Puerto Rico Essay
My research paper will be about Puerto Rico and its importance to the spanish language. It is
located in the Caribbean sea, southeast of Florida. It is home to many US citizens in its beautiful
tropic landscape. In this paper I will explain the important aspects of the Puerto Rican government,
the people, and the lovely food.
GOVERNMENT
The capital of Puerto Rico is San Juan. Puerto Rico is a United States Territory under
commonwealth status. Some of the major differences between the 50 states of the US and Puerto
Rico is that Puerto Rico does not share the same federal tax, but does have similar government
income tax rates. Puerto Rico does have authority over its internal affairs. Also Puerto Ricans

The Spanish colonists provided an entire new selection of food to the Taino s. The spanish
conquistadors brought pigs, chicken, many new vegetables, wheat and sugar cane. These new
items of food from the spanish had a major impact of modern day Puerto Rico food. Another
group of people to influence the food of Puerto Rico was the African slaves. Juan Garrido was a
free African Spaniard man who was the first African to live in Puerto Rico. Garrido was the first
person that taught the Taino s who to grow wheat properly. Africans are believed to be the ones
that brought rice into the Taino diet. A Puerto Rican breakfast mainly consists of some sort of
pastry or bread and a coffee and milk. Breakfast is not major meal in the Puerto Rican diet. Two
pastries are Mallorca and quesito. Mallorca is a light pastry bread with sprinkled sugar on it.
Quesito is a common pastry. It is a flaky, puff pastry wrapped around sweetened cream cheese. It
is extremely delicious. No Latin American breakfast would be complete without a cafe con
leche. Appetizers play a major role in Puerto Rican food. Tostones are fried plantains. A plantain
is a long green banana. Bananas are a main Puerto Rican food. ANother popular Puerto Rican food
is Mofongo. Mofongo is a mashed mound of plantains. Seafood, meat, or vegetables is added to

ABSTRACT : In this paper we simulatd an optical transmission system in optical fiber using
different pulses .The optical fiber system used in telecommunication system has small size or
dimension, low loss and low interference from outside environment. Optical fiber are of various
configurations , we are using fiber bragg grating as the dispersion compensator in the fiber optic
cable . We are using FBG in the simulation as because it offers more bandwidth .Optisystem
software is used to analyse the optical transmission system . In the simulation of the communication
system appropriate values of the input power , fiber cable length and attenuation coefficient is
taken around the cable section and the output pwer , noise figure , gain is found out at the receiver.
The transmitter frequency and cut off frequency of the receiver is made constant .

The Conflicts Between Seeing Nature As A Medium Of Art
Imagine hiking and standing upon a mountain top and just basking in the beauty of the scenery
around. Some people consider nature as the purest form of natural expression. Some artists
consider nature as a medium of art. But what is a medium of art? Art is expressed to be man
made, a form of human expression, a tale of beauty or tragedy. The world is a beautiful place
filled with unique creatures, beautiful scenery and an overwhelming sense of power and
importance. But a medium is considered as materials used to help express the viewpoint of the artist
. In this evaluation argument one will see the conflicts between seeing nature as a contributor to
art. where if it can be used as a material that inspires the artist, can be used to express emotion, and
help support the point of view of the art work. One would think that nature would have nothing to
do with art. But it seems that art can be found centered upon this idea. Nature is used in many
different forms either to build a giant building or to just exists and to be admired. In many cases
trees and other natural elements are used as art supplies. One can view the use of nature being
used as a medium of art. Using the materials as a source of expressing the viewpoint of the artists.
Some disapprove of this viewpoint, some people suggest that art is to conceptual to be related or
influenced by nature. Some people also state that nature is based of evolution and science not on
the concepts of feelings

Raising Minimum Wage
The minimum wage for workers should be increased. First of all, raising the minimum wage
would reduce the amount of people who are in poverty. Moreover, raising the minimum wage
would lead to less premature deaths and allow many people to live healthier lives. Finally, raising
the minimum wage would reduce the amount of crime the occurs. Let s take a look at some proof.
If the minimum wage is increased for workers then there would be a decrease in the amount of
people who are in poverty and allow them to afford their basic essentials for their everyday life..
According to the article Should the Minimum Wage be Increased? it says According to a 2014
Government related Budget Office report, increasing the minimum wage to $9 would lift
300,000 people out of poorness, and an increase to $10.10 would lift 900,000 people out of
poorness. To begin, by increasing workers pay it would lift an amount of people out of poverty,
allowing them to provide for their families and buying foods that would be needed to live an
everyday normal life. It would allow adults that are starting off their life to afford their everyday
essentials such as food and clothing to wear. The article Should the Minimum Wage be Increased?
also says, A 2013 study by University of Massachusetts at Amherst money flow expert Arindrajit

Persuasive Speech On Video Games

include: Social advantages, Mental Advantages and Skills that will secure jobs. I am doing this
because i am sick and tired of the common stereotype that gamers and lazy, stupid, unemployed

Main Body 2 (Mental Advantages) Video games are a waste of time they don t actually improve
anything, they are just entertainment. However there is drastic evidence to show that couldn t be
further from the truth. They actually have a huge mental benefit that can enhance memory, better
hand to eye coordination and enhanced reflexes along with other things aswell. Showing that
they are indeed not just a time killer and waster but are hugely benefiting the minds of the people
that play them. The first point I would like to bring up is enhanced memory, a study suggests that
young children can benefit from the memory aspects of video games. Several children had
multiple sessions of several video games with increases challenge and it had been noted that they
did show signs of progress in the difficulty but more importantly an increase in a strong memory
showing that the two indeed have a connection. Secondly hand to eye coordination, another study
was conducted and yet again the gamer who repeatedly played games was faster, sharper and
overall better than the non gamer. The other main point is reflexes which sort of ties in with the
other points but deserves another mention, research indicates that fast paced gameplay along the
lines of Call of Duty and other various games, does in fact increase reflexes. Skills You may think

Examples Of Miscommunication In Dante s Inferno
Vladimir Zhdanov

Honors Freshman Literature and Composition

Compassion into Indifference The true value of a human being can be found in the degree to which
he has attained liberation from the self and mind . This quote by Albert Einstein demonstrates the
emotional struggle of Dante as he traversed through hell. The Inferno, as a story, has
metamorphosised the way people envision compassion. Dante showed his readers that compassion
is repugnant in order to develop into a more spiritually enlightened individual. The Inferno, by
Dante Alighieri, presents that Dante s reaction to sinners from compassion and pity to indifference
reflects his journey from naГЇvetГ© to spiritual enlightenment, through the empathy of Dante, ...

Dante s realization begins with the Sowers of Scandal and Schism, where he meets a soul who
refuses to talk to Dante. Here Dante says to a soul, You, who cast your eyes upon the ground, if
these features are not false, must be Venedico Caccianemico, but what brings you to sauces so
piquant? (Alighieri, XVIII 49). At this point, Dante is now more mature in his judgment of sins.
Rather than feel pity for this sinner, he mocks the sinner for being submerged in a pile of
excrement. His words do not present any compassion for the sinner. Dante yet again shows his
maturity when he speaks to Count Ugolino, where he says, For if Count Ugolino had the fame of
having thy castles thee betrayed, thou should not on such cross have put his sons (Alighieri,
XXXIII 85). Dante feels no compassion for the Count, and condemns his for his apostate crime.
Finally, Dante demonstrates floccinaucinihilipilification when he meets Bocca Delgi Abate. When
Dante sees him, and then by the scalp I seized upon him, and said: it need to be thou name thyself
or not a hair remains upon thee here (Alighieri, XXXIII 96). As a result, Dante finally realizes that
sinners deserve their punishment. Rather than just ignore this sinner, Dante even impertinently
pulls out the sinner s hair to show his understanding of indifference. Thus, this realization has made
it possible for Dante

Christianity And Islam Comparison
Christianity and Islam are surely different religions but foundationally some parts are the same.
Where Christians and Muslims believe in an omnipotent being that is above all and that the holy
scripture is a way of learning how to reach a happy afterlife, this is where the similarity blurs. The
god in Christianityis a lover of all creatures that are on earth and has a relation to his followers and
son (JesusChrist) whereas Allah loves some and hate others who does not follow his will and does
not have relations to anyone as this would be a blasphemous sin. This difference shifts over to the
art aspects such as the sculptures, books, paintings and even decorative sketches on buildings. In

Christian Belief System
Belief systems is in some way apart of one s religion form or other has been an essential element in
the life and culture of humankind throughout the ages, going back far beyond the threshold of

the way of life and what happens once we die. These needs resulted in the development of a variety
of religions and philosophies that can be found throughout the world today.. However, Christianity
which evolved from Judaism, there are certain concepts that these two religions share. For example,
both Jews and Christians subscribe to the Ten Commandments found in the Book of Exodus. In

The Problem Of Crime Filled Neighborhood
A run down, crime filled neighborhood is looked at as something that needs improvement and
changing. Similar to a piece of furniture, people with money try to refurbish it and make it look
new while taking away the dinginess. However with neighborhoods it is not this simple. Many
people are quick to assume that by gentrifying a neighborhood, the amount of crimewill decrease
and this is not a far fetched thought. It seems self explanatory large amounts of crime occur in
low income neighborhoods therefore if higher income residents and homes replace those poorer
residents and homes, the large amounts of crime will no longer exist. However, gentrification is a

specifically gang related homicides.
Contrary to the types of gentrification mentioned above, when it came to the state involved
gentrification, it was a different story than the other two types. The study proved though you can
invade it, you cannot simply take away a criminals territory to decrease crime. State involved
gentrification in this study was the demolition of public housing and this process significantly
increased gang homicide over time (584). Public housing is housing sponsored by the government
and because the government doesn t always consider what is best for poorer neighborhoods, the
homes are often times run down and located in crime heavy areas. The demolition of these homes
causes an immediate effect of displacement and gang turf disruption on gang violence (578). This
demolition left people without territories and really nowhere to go, something that increased
homicides. In addition to increasing gang related homicides, removing housing and territories
causes untended persons and property are fair game for plunder (Skogan 216). This study and many

Association of Southeast Asian Nation (ASEAN), a 10 member organization established in August

economic, and socio cultural aspects of the region. It is a region of great diversity but most
countries have achieved rapid economic development for the most of the past 25 years. Its
diplomacy and cooperation are characterized by caution, pragmatism, and consensus based decision
making the ASEAN Way (Ponciano Intal, et al., 2014). Taking steps to achieve their goal and
embracing its motto, One Vision. One Identity. One Community. the organization established the

across the region, gearing towards making South East Asia a globally competitive single market
and production base characterized by: free flow of goods, services, investments, skills, and capitals.
Moreover, it intends to form a region of equitable economic development integrated into the global

Effect Of The Immmersion Of Manga
Effect of The Immersion of Manga
A Brief Take on Comic Books Counterpart.
Are you an Otaku? A growing group of people, united, fans of Anime and Manga all over the world
call themselves this name, but how did this craze begin?
What is Manga s appeal?
Manga is a Japanese graphic novel, known most commonly to be similar to traditional Comic
Books from the US. The differences lie in the art styles, genre and reading ways. Unlike the comic
books featuring superheroes, Japanese Manga focuses on issues from psychological insights to
school life and historical stories. Manga also has a very different feel from Comic Books due to
the natural shading and black and white themes. Although Manga is now available in many
bookstores all over the world, the transition from Manga being exotic to a common reading
material took a long time and three major steps until it became inspiration to people outside of

Because cultural differences set areas apart, the Japanese language and ways may seem new or

Manga. The Anime and Manga appreciating communities stood as a minority and slowly through
the efforts of curiosity and encouragement of fans, the artform known as Manga arrived in America.

Nicole s First Signs Of Ectopic Pregnancy
According to the American Pregnancy Association, an ectopic pregnancy is a serious pregnancy
complication in which a fertilized egg secures itself to an area outside of the uterus. This is
typically in an area that is not meant for a developing embryo, such as the fallopian tubes. In the
initial case study presentation, the patient, Nicole, was experiencing symptoms of an ectopic
pregnancy. Nicole s first signs of an ectopic pregnancywere that she felt very nauseous, was dizzy,
and began to vomit. Within the next few days, Nicole began to feel abdominal pain in the muscles,
the nausea resumed, and traces of blood were found in her urine. According to the Mayo Clinic,

The main symptoms that occurred in the initial case study for us to distinguish this as an ectopic
pregnancy was the nausea, traces of blood in the urine, and the abdominal pelvic pain. Abdominal
pelvic pain occurs in ectopic pregnancy because the zygote falls into the fallopian tube instead of
implanting itself into the uterus. The patient then took a physical exam in which some irregular
results were found. The patient had sharp pains running through the abdomen and swelling of the
lower right quadrant. These symptoms correlate with an ectopic pregnancy in that the fertilized
egg could be implanted in the abdominal area. Also, in the physical exam, endometrial bleeding
was discovered which is typically found early on in a pregnancy. Lastly, the physical exam showed
that there were enlarged nodes in the submandibular, axillary, and inguinal regions. These irregular
results lead us to believe that there is an abnormality in the pregnancy. In the blood chemistry
panel, two results were found to be extremely higher than the reference range. They were estradiol
and progesterone. According to the Walk In Lab, estradiol is only seen in the blood in large
amounts during pregnancy. When estradiol levels are high and continually increase in steady
amounts, this indicates that there is a pregnancy. Progesterone is used to detect if there is either
infertility or a failing

There are however, several restrictions that prevent the military from being able to directly
respond to foreign or natural disasters inside the U.S borders. A formal request for aid must be
generated through the Department of State for foreign aid (JP3 29, 2014). Likewise, a request
for federal assistance must be made from the state to the President prior to military forces are
authorized to respond to a domestic natural disaster. Unlike the Armed National Guard that is run
by the state and falls under US Title 32 laws, the Department of Defense operates under Title 10
laws that prevent the military from operating in inside the United States borders for defensive
support of civil authorities without the explicit permission from the Secretary of Defense (JP3 28,
2013). Joint Task Forcecommanders can best prepare for the surprise of natural disasters with
routine training and interoperability with coalition partners. Regular multinational exercises and
operations improve the trust and working relationship with foreign governments that are essential in
the time of crisis. Trust between nations is required to allow a country to make the initial request
for assistance. At the time of the 2004 Sumatra earthquake, only 15 percent of Indonesians had a

A Report On The Stirling Engine
The Stirling engine, noted for its high efficiency, converts heat energy to mechanical work. A
typical Stirling cycle consists of four phases compressing cool gas, heating the gas, expanding the
hot gas, and finally cooling the gas before repeating the cycle. The engines can run on heat from
solar, geothermal, biological, nuclear sources or waste heat from industrial processes, can be built
to run quietly and don t produce any emissions. In contrast to other solutions used in solar thermal
technology, Stirling engines don t have an inherent mechanism for storing heat. Stirling engine
based combined heat and power plant (CHP) fuelled with biomass represents a technological
breakthrough within onsite renewable energy generation. A system working on biofuel is a step
towards utilisation of clean energy source. In biomass type wood chips and waste wood pallets are
used which is environment friendly.
Ideal Stirling Cycle
The Stirling cycle is a thermodynamic cycle that describes the general class of Stirling devices.
This includes the original Stirling engine that was invented, developed and patented in 1816 by
Reverend Dr. Robert Stirling with help from his brother, an engineer [1]. The ideal Stirling
Cycle consists of 4 individual processes with end points as marked in the Fig. 1[2]. Here the
isothermal compression stroke (process 1в†’2) takes place by removing heat, Q12, from the
working fluid in order to keep the temperature at a constant low value, TC. Figure 1: p V

Banning Violent Video Games On Children
Banning Violent Video Games A child is killing police officers. A teenager is hiring prostitutes to
potentially kill them. He is using weapons such as guns, chainsaws, and knives to kill and commit
horrible crimes. Thousands of children and teens participate in these actions daily. How? Violent
Video games such as Doom, Call of Duty, and Grand Theft Auto are just a few of the games that
are full of these awful actions. The Harvard Mental Health Letter states, The Pew Research Center
reported in 2008 that 97% of youths ages 12 to 17 played some type of video game, and that two
thirds of them played action and adventure games that tend to contain violent content
(Violent...Young People 1). Another investigation showed that over half of the games the ESRB
rates contain violence, and over 90% of those games are evaluated acceptable for people over the
age of 10 (Violent...Young People 1). These violent video games contribute to aggressive behavior,
bullying, and recently spotlighted school shootings. Many believe these games should be banned
for children and teens. Critics say that these games give adolescents a way to vent out their anger
and frustrations in a safe environment and that there is research to prove violent video games have
no effect on normal children. Because they are harmful, video games that promote violence should
be banned in regards to children and youth. The first and most important reason video games should
be banned for children is the

Science And Science In John Wesson s The Science Of Soccer
Science is everywhere. John Wesson has proved that to many through his famous book, The
Science of Soccer. This book links both soccer and science together. Throughout this story the
simple idea of soccer will turn into a more complex version of science. Wesson teaches the
readers about how something so simple, like a ball bouncing, can relate to the more in depth laws
of physics. While reading this book one can learn what soccer really is, how scienceis described,
and how science and soccer are related. A common question in many young minds is, What is
soccer? . In the words of Wesson, Soccer s superiority derives from two sources, variety and
continuity. At each point in the game the players are faced with a wide range of options take the
ball past the opponent on this side or that, to pass short or long, low or high, to shoot or to lay
the ball off and to whom (Wesson 85). Soccer is a physical and mental sport. It is played with
your feet, however, it is the mind that does most of the hard work. It is also a team sport. It
consists of dribbling, passing, kicking, and much more. Sometimes there will be a bounce that
must be trapped, and others there will be moves needed to blow by a defender. The game varies.
For instance, the book also reads, The ball is kicked in a variety of ways according to the
circumstances. For a slow accurate pass the ball is pushed with the flat inside face of the foot. For
a hard shot the toes are dipped and the ball is struck

Clothes In Their Eyes Were Watching God
Throughout Janie s three marriages in Their Eyes Were Watching God, she has a different set of
clothes that she describes wearing in each marriage. These outfits represent the type of relationship
she is in. Throughout the book, they also show how she evolves into a strong, self confident
woman. In Their Eyes Were Watching God, clothing symbolizes where Janie is in her life and the
type of relationship she is part of.
When Janie finds out that her grandmother wants her to marry Logan Killicks, she is horrified
because she is not attracted to him. She even goes so far as to say that He looks like some ole
skullhead in de graveyard (13). Soon after the start of her marriage, she finds out how unhappy she
truly is with her relationship. She wears an apron because of how much time she spends in the
kitchen. Although she already had a lot on her plate, Logan tells her that there is no reason why
she shouldn t work just as hard as he does, and demands her to help with the firewood. Janie s
wearing of the apron symbolized her heavy workload in her marriage to Logan. ... Show more

more and more control of Janie. He stopped her from talking to other people, and towards the end
of their relationship, he even slapped her when she stood up to him. Forcing Janie to hide her hair
is just one example of how Joe took control over

The Pros And Cons Of Food Stamps
Eighteen percent of America is currently on food stamps. Why is that so? Food stamps allow
just about anyone to qualify. Most of those on food stamps are able bodied adults without
dependents (ABAWDs) (Hoar). Why is it that so many people are on food stamps? Maybe
because it is lenient with its rules. Being on food stamps does not give someone a comfortable
and easy lifestyle, but it is comfortable enough. It is no secret that obesity is a growing epidemic
in America. Food stamps are one of the major roots of the problem. Imagine getting to stay home
and not have to go to work. The government sends checks in the mail to spend on groceries, but it
gets better. The government does not prohibit the purchase of junk food. Those people can now

Less than one percent of America has what is considered a very low food security, yet eighteen
percent of America is on food stamps (Hoar). There are many people in the surrounding area of
Leedey, Oklahoma that are on food stamps. Most of them do not have any plans to make a
change in their lives, and none of them seem to be struggling in regards to food. Many will say
that it is not the government s job to control what people eat. The average person in America eats
or drinks something that can be considered junk food every day. Why should the people on food
stamps be limited on food when they are already limited to other expenditures? Seeing that it is
everyone s right to eat what he or she wants, he or she should be able to buy junk food if it is he
or she s own money. Food stamps are primarily run on government money. At least those who are
not on food stamps who buy junk food can say that it is he or she s own money. The Supplemental
Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), food stamps, was created to get rid of hunger in the
United States (Hoar). According to Robert Paarlberg of Harvard University obesity is the
problem in most low income households, not hunger (2). Jen Fifield, the founder of a food
pantry in Quitman County, claims that many public health and medical officials. . . [are] saying
that the program. . . [is] feeding into the country s unhealthy habits and worsening the obesity
epidemic. (1) This is supported by many statistics. Arkansas state Representative Mary Bently
states that one in three adults in Arkansas are obese, and she is afraid that food stamps are
enabling diabetes and obesity to rise (1). If junk food is continued to be accessed by those on
food stamps, then it will be more than adults being affected by obesity. The children of America
will eventually be affected by the leniency of food

Why Polylactic Acid And Polypropylene
A plastic water bottle must be able to hold it shape, withstand high temperatures, must not absorb
the water or release toxins, should be easy to clean and must be eco friendly. To understand this,
it is first necessary to define polymers, how they are made and the intermolecular forces that lead
to polymers properties. Two polymers, Polylactic acid and polypropylene, will be explained to
illustrate the connection between structure and properties. The differences and similarities will be
explained, followed by the environmental and economic considerations. These factors will be used
to show why Polylactic acid is preferable to other polymers for the production of water bottle.
A polymer is a long chain of molecules made up of many repeating identical units called
monomers. A polymer made from two or more repeating units of monomers are called copolymers
(Smith et al., 2006). Monomers are often made up of Hydrogen and Carbon with extra elements
such as Oxygen, Nitrogen and Chlorine, creating the backbone of the polymer. These can be made
synthetically, such as polyethylene or occur naturally like cellulose, as are the polymers being
investigated are. Polylactic acid is made naturally and Polypropylene is made synthetically.
Polymers can be three dimensional networks which don t melt such as epoxy resin, and are called
thermoset polymers, two dimensional or one dimensional networks or chains which can be melted
such as polypropylene called thermoplastic polymers

William Shakespeare s Vampire Bat
Final Assignment Part 2 by Brandy Mearnic
Vampire Bat
The vampire bat also comes from a Subfamily called desmodontinae. There are three different
types of bat species: The common vampire bat, hairy legged vampire bat and white winged
vampire bat. These three different species are mostly native to the New World, but can be found in
parts of Mexico and Brazil, Chile and Argentina.
Their main source of food is blood. Instead of sucking the blood to feed on they make a small cut
with their teeth and then lick up the blood from the fresh wound. While feeding, they can feed for
up to 30 minutes without waking the animal they are feeding on up.
They have a short muzzle and instead of a nose leaf, they have exposed (or naked) pads with u
shaped grooves at the tip of the nose. The common vampire bat has thermoreceptors that help the
bat to locate areas where the blood flows close in it s prey. Vampire bats have small ears and very
short tail. The front teeth of a vampire bat are designed for cutting and the back teeth are smaller
than other bats. A bat s brain processes sound and can detect breathing sounds of other animals
sleeping. This part of the brain is called the inferior colliculus. Mostly all bats have lost the ability
to walk on the ground, but there are some that still run while on the ground. Their wings are much
more powerful than their legs, though.
Bats live in colonies is complete, dark places such as caves, wells, trees and some buildings. The

Analysis Of Tickits By Paul Milenski
The short fiction story Tickits, written by Paul Milenski is about Toby Heckler giving tickets to
all those he finds doing wrong especially his mother. How can I help all those around me
someone like Tobey can ask himself? I can shed light to the troubles one may cause others like a
superheroes providing safety to the citizens around them. My cloak and armor is my sharp
appearance with not even a smudge on my pearly white sneakers. There are many imperfections
when it comes to people behaviorin a sense to not caring about others.
This story describes Toby as if he was a police officer handing out citations until the reason behind
the citation was written. The tickets consist of a car parking in two parking spots being
inconsiderate of others that may need to park and two elderly women standing in the middle of the
sidewalk taking up the space of others that are walking on the sidewalk. Toby had also written a
ticket for a man who was considering crossing the street when the sign read DON T WALK
(Milenski 155). The reason for the ticket was clearly that the man considers disregarding the sign
and walking across the street. The ticket read ALLMOST WALKD (155). He did this while
maintaining a polish appearance especially when it came to his shoes. He compared himself to
patrolman McVee in appearance and even wipe the smudge of his shoe. Toby carries his job to be
very important despite the way others looked or may treat him.
The author Milenski demonstrated an

  • 3. Characteristics Of Organized Crime In the early 20th century, millions of Italians came to the United States as poor immigrants. Many of these immigrants found their new home in New York City, New York. Thus began the formation of the renowned New York Mafia. Defining characteristics of the New York Mafia give insight into the formation, intention, and conservation thereof. A couple of sociological theories can be used to describe the propagation of one of America s most renowned organized crime syndicates. With many organized crime syndicates, it can be difficult to discern one from another. The New York Mafia has characteristics reflective of organized crime in general, as well as characteristics that distinguish it from other syndicates. As far as characteristics ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Richard Scott describes this structure as Natural System , where members share a common interest in the survival of the system but are not necessarily guided by the organization s goals. The organized crime unit is more than an instrument for attaining defined goals; it is fundamentally a social group attempting to adapt and survive in a dangerous environment (Abadinsky 2016:46). Each member of the Mafia, called a Made Guy , is independent in that he does not receive a salary from the group. Basically, each member is a franchise manager, who engages in criminal activity with the support and protection of the Mafia. When the Italians came to the United States in the late 1900 s, the economy was molded by the likes of the Rockefellers, the Astors, and the Vanderbilts. This economical formation created limited opportunities for the middle and, especially, the lower classes. The socioeconomic disadvantage established upon the Italian immigrants leads many to seek success via illegal means. This criminal behavior was exacerbated by the [reproduction of] the kind of illegal groups they had belonged to in the old country (Abadinsky 2016:43). The New York Mafia s formation was likely twofold: illegal behavior was vital to any semblance of financial success for the Italian immigrants, and the immigrants were replicating the same kind of criminal groups that they were familiar with back in Italy. The former can be tied to the Strain Theory. There is ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 4. The Importance Of Bias In Literature Few modern authors have had as profound an effect on their genre, society, political debate, or literature in general as Robert Heinlein. Science fiction author Ken Macleod suggests that the world was having a dialogue with Heinlein, unfortunately, one of the unintentional consequences of dialogue is misunderstanding, some of which is caused by reader bias (Macleod, James, Mendlesohn 231). Bias is dangerous to readers and they should, consequently, avoid it for at least three reasons; first, it causes a work or author to be regarded in many contradicting ways; second, it creates an atmosphere in which faulty arguments are made, and third, it results in significant elements of the story being ignored. Though, one should not construe this in such a way as to denote that this report is so much about the book itself as about the overall scope of it in relation to Heinlein, the bias levied for or against the book and him as well as their overall message, and the meaning of the work itself. It is vital that it be understood that in this context bias is any tendency to judge something either more or less favorably based on preexisting notions rather than on the data presented. It is equally important to understand that the human mind looks for patterns, the term for this phenomenon is pareidolia, in which people see hidden faces in clouds or even hear nonexistent messages in songs. It is because the mind seeks to recognize patterns, even where none exist. Similarly, people who ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 5. The Brown Auto Company Essay The Brown Auto Company At the Brown Auto Company, the two partners divided the operational responsibilities. Robert performed the duties of the primary salesman and the chief mechanic whereas his brother, Harry, more commonly called Skin, ran the office. The Ford Motor Company shipped each Model T, colloquially nicknamed the Tin Lizzie, into Bradley on the Chicago, Milwaukee, St. Paul Railroad only partially assembled. Since the body, frame, engine, wheels, doors, and windows, each came as parts; the brothers completed the assembly on the rail siding before driving them to the garage. The Brown Auto Company, which used Bradley s Fourth of July parade to advertise their product, on at least one occasion, obtained assistance from Robert s multi talented wife, Bessie, for the design and construction of a float. Using Ford s colors, Bessie decorated the float, which featured a Model T on a flatbed truck, by sewing many strips of crГЄpe together to create a huge blue and white hoop skirt around the car. The float prominently displayed Ford s motto, Henry s Made a Lady out of Lizzie. Selling cars sometimes required overcoming unique challenges. The owner of Carson s Ranch, Lloyd Carson, held a contest to determine if he would buy a Ford or a Chevrolet. A Model T from the Brown Auto Company driven by Robert Brown competed against a Chevrolet from a dealership in Watertown, South Dakota. FOUNDATIONS AND HEDGE FUNDS To escape income tax returns these are famous as they are not susceptible to high tax rates on ordinary income and short term capital gains. What is a Foundation? • 7. Harrison Bergeron Analysis Harrison Bergeron Short Story Essay It takes courage to stand up for one s beliefs, and not everyone is bold enough to take the chance. Freedom, taking risks, and just living in the moment is displayed in the short story of Harrison Bergeron , when Harrison tries to break free from under the government s laws in the future. In society, everyone is different, and has their own hopes and dreams in their lives that are aimed to be pursued like in Harrison Bergeron. The theme Total equality isn t an ideal worth striving for, but a mistaken goal that is dangerous in both execution and outcome is the statement the other is trying to communicate. Kurt Vonnegut, in Harrison Bergeron, helps develop the theme through satire and characterization. Citizens are all equal and no one is above anyone else. The setting is takes place in the future, the year of 2081. To begin with, Kurt Vonnegut uses satire to introduce the theme. In Harrison Bergeron, the author states All equality [is] due to the 211th, 212th, and 213th Amendments to the Constitution, and to the unceasing vigilance of agent of the United States Handicapper General (Vonnegut). Readers can tell the quote is sarcastic because the U.S doesn t have as near as that many amendments yet. In other words, sarcasm read in the tone helps indicate the satire in the beginning of the story. Therefore, the satire in the quote, shows how the author develops the theme into the story. With this in mind, characterization is also a way the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 8. The Importance Of Learning A Second Language Should schoolchildren be required to learn a second or even third language from a young age? According to studies at the Cornell Language Acquisition Lab (CLAL), children who learn a second language can maintain attention despite outside stimuli better than those who know only one language. Learning foreign languages from a young age is much easier than trying to pick one up later in life, researchers say that their elementary brains are most receptive to picking it up and enabling them to speak the languagefluently with little or no hint of a foreign accent. Schools around the country are struggling to keep their foreign languageprograms alive. My interest in this topic has developed from my cousins, who live out in California who have been taught a foreign from a younger age, and the school I went to didn t start teaching it until the ninth grade. Learning a second language from a young age can be beneficial for students, as Jamaal Abdul alim talks about in his article, States are teaching core content in other tongues. In his article, he wrote a quote from Hendrik J. Haarmann, the area director of cognitive neuroscience at the University of Maryland Center for Advanced Study of Language saying, Early age is the best time to be introduced to a foreign language because the mind/brain is most plastic at that age in terms of its ability to learn a language. Preschool, early elementary aged students brains are developing rapidly making it easier for them to adapt to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 9. Summary Of The Song Changes By Charles Bradley Changes by Charles Bradley is a song that resonates with me as a song that triggers an emotional response. The song was first released in 2013 and is a cover of the 1972 band Black Sabbath (Cory, 2017). It is apparent by the title that the topic for the song is the changes that the artist is going through or has gone through in his life. At the very beginning of the song, Bradley says She was my woman. I loved her so. But it s too late now. I ve let her go... But soon the world. Had its evil way , which illustrates the loss of a partner but is still ambiguous in how he lost her but one can infer it was due to death (Cory, 2017). Now, any time a song refers to the death of a loved one, it is easy to sympathize with because we have all lost... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... When I first heard the song, I immediately searched for it on the internet and listened to the whole version because I thought it was such a powerful song. The lyrics of the song tell a story, it is one of pain and sorrow, but it s a story that I think everyone can relate to. The lyrics are very simple and they all come together to form a detailed depiction of Bradley s emotions. When I hear Bradley sing about his loss, it triggers me into thinking about the loved ones that I have lost. The rhythm of the song is very slow pace and calm, which sets the mood for Bradley s gritty deep voice, but when the chorus hits, then the saxophone jumps in to excite the whole song. The beat is soft enough to induce a deep thought and when the chorus hits, you do not get the usual sense of excitement but rather one of contempt delight. Lastly, the artist is another thing that triggers a Dionysian response for me, the reason being that Bradley looks just like my grandfather that passed about a year ago. Every time I see Bradley, I think of my grandfather and all of the time I spent with him, not to mention that the author s last name matches that of my family. Overall, I would say that the emotional response that I get when I hear this song is one of blissfulness and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 10. Essay on William Blake William Blake William Blake is one of England s most famous literary figures. He is remembered and admired for his skill as a painter, engraver, and poet. He was born on Nov. 28, 1757 to a poor Hosier s family living in or around London. Being of a poor family, Blake received little in the way of comfort or education while growing up. Amazingly, he did not attend school for very long and dropped out shortly after learning to read and write so that he could work in his father s shop. The life of a hosier however was not the right path for Blake as he exhibited early on a skill for reading and drawing. Blake s skill for reading can be seen in his understanding for and use of works such as the Bible and Greek classic literature. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... These figures are the characters in many of his works. The role of Religion as a strong influence in Blake s life was probably formed by the events he experienced during his upbringing. Blake came from a poor family and among other hardships witnessed the death of his older brother Robert at the relatively young age of 20. Robert s death had a profound impact on Blake and after witnessing it he said that he saw his brother s soul ascend heavenward clapping its hands for joy . The inspiration that William received from his brother death is an underlying theme in many of his works and most likely in his view of life as well. Songs of Innocence and Songs of Experience are two of Blake s collections that emphasize his ideas. Many of the things that affected Blake s life as a child: poverty, struggle, loss, confusion, and faith can be seen in these works. Songs of Innocence and Songs of Experience are contrasting views of the same events. Each contains a collection of poems that profile an idea, figure, or event. In Songs of Innocence the world is viewed through the Eyes of someone like a child, who has little life experience. In Songs of Experience the same world is looked at only this time from the standpoint of someone who has experience in life, most likely an adult. The major difference between the two viewpoints is the understanding for life and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 11. Ancient Athenian Women Essay In ancient Athens, there were different levels of courtesans: concubines, street women, hetaeras, and music or flute girls. This trade, however, was not restricted to women men were also sold as commodities. These women plied their trade according to their social stature, in the streets, symposiums or brothels. The symposium played a huge role in the sexual life of the ancient Athenians often an outlet for not just sexual desire, but all desires. The economics of prostitution in ancient Athens was complex, most times treating women and men as commodities. Men and women even had a resale value (Davidson, pg. 82). Some workers were taken care of by the people who purchased them; most, however, were controlled by pimps (Davidson, pg. 79). The street women barely made enough to make it through a twenty four hour span, the slave girls in the brothels made profits for the brothel keeper, and the professional party girl lived off her talents (Davidson, pg. 86). At the symposiums, women were hired for entertainment as well as sexual pleasure by people of merit: artists, poets and political aristocrats (Davidson, pg. 77). Women would often be paid for their company, not just the act of sex (Davidson, pg. 77). • 12. The Importance Of The Warrior Class In Japan The Warrior class were part of the social class in Japan that included Shoguns, Daimyos and Samurais. The Shoguns would rule the Daimyos, who had control over the Samurais. Japan s warrior class led to a lasting effect, enhanced weapons and effect on the social class which led to the alteration of the warrior class roles. In Japan, during the end of the first millennium, the samurai went to war with the emperor. This war is known as the Genpei War and the Emperor was defeated by the Samurai. This led to the first established shogunate. During the Edo period (1603 1868) or also known as the Tokugawa shogunate, there was an era of stability that led to the rise of shoguns. Shoguns were considered the single ruler of Japan although, the emperor was above the shoguns on the social class. Tokugawa Ieyasu ruled Japan for 15 generations, controlling about 25% of the peoples land, leaving the rest of the 75% to be put into domains, ruled by 275 daimyos. The shogun of Japan controlled government, however, when the Meiji Restoration began in the 19th century, Japans stable society ended and the Shoguns lost all power, due to Matthew Perry. Matthew Perry was a Christian who was seen as a threat to Japan as he wanted to create a divide within Japan. • 16. A Theory Of Current Interest Full description of a theory of current interest in the field of marketing Trust Commitment theory Trust and commitment appear to be illusive entities. Without trust and commitment of some type, it is very difficult to conduct business long term. What follows is an analysis of current views of what trust and commitment actually means. Current view of trust and commitment With regard to commitment, the current view is that which differentiates believability from the extension of goodwill (Amani, 2015). Secondly, the view is such that commitment is actually a normative rather than a calculative affair, as was thought to be the case in the past (Amani, 2015). Finally, this view regarding trust and commitment is one of a relationship that is built on customers who are simply dissatisfied with other suppliers of goods and services and settle on the supplier that leaves them the least dissatisfied (Amani, 2015). What this means is that, although trust and commitment appear to be illusive entities in today s competitive marketplace, this is apparently a view that states that there is a normative element associated with commitment and trust (Amani, 2015). This normative component likely bridges the gap between dissatisfied customers and those customers who are simply less dissatisfied with a given supplier and, therefore, remain loyal. In other words, loyalty is the key to maintaining a high level of commitment on the part of buyers. Trust Trust also has sub dimensions, ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Concentrated growth typically sees the most success in mature markets where the product market is not saturated. Concentrated growth is one of the lowest risk strategies, but only when used in a stable market because it typically does not perform well in a market with a lot of up and down movement. A volatile market could be disastrous if a company focuses in on one product and the market crashes down around it. The first Congress of the United States authorized the federal death penalty on June 25, 1790 (deathpenalty.org, 2011). The death penalty can also be referred to as capital punishment, however capital punishment also includes a sentence to life in prison, as opposed to strictly executions. A convict can be sentenced to death by various methods including lethal injection, electrocution, gas chamber, firing squad, and hanging. After the death penalty was established, many debates have arisen arguing that these methods violate several of the United States Amendments. Select cases have been accused of violating the Sixth, Eighth, and Fourteenth Amendments. It is important to note that the judiciary goes through a series of processes prior to deciding a sentence for a capital crime. Many factors influencing the verdict include proportional analysis, individualized sentencing, method of execution, and classes of people not eligible of the death penalty. This paper will discuss brief descriptions of the methods used for executions, economical issues, the Supreme Court s opinion regarding the death penalty, as well as important factors that make up the proportional analysis, individual sentencing process, method used, and determining classes of people who are not eligible for the death penalty. Now the commercials during the Super Bowl get a lot of popularity but they do not get much screen time for 2 major reasons. The first being it costs millions of dollars to get a commercial to air during the Super Bowl and second, many other companies want to get a commercial to air also so the time has to be split evenly. Little screen time means sacrificing vital information for the commercial. In other words, the commercial was good at making itself memorable and fun to watch but it did not display many features or specifications about the car that are important when someone is in the market to buy a car. The only feature Volkswagen showed was the fact that you could click a button on your keychain to turn the car on. That feature is not important when it comes to the safety of the vehicle or how many miles to the gallon the car has. If people did not care about the specifications then there would be no competition in the car industry other than to make a car as fancy looking as possible. However, Paul continues to support that reading enhances our way of life and understandingof individuals. Deep reading affects our way of culture, understanding, and knowledge in a positive way. By reading books and becoming engaged in them, it gives the reader a new sense of an ecstatic experience as Paul states. If a reader is enjoying a book, thy will take their time to read it and become deep in reflection of their own self. They can connect the ideas from a book to their own lives, and even establish some opinions of their own on what they are reading, which improves our culture as a society. Through phosphorylation, which causes changes in enzyme activity as result of an alteration in protein conformation, the Myosin Light Chain ВЅ stimulates and subsequently contracts the smooth muscle. Concentrations of the protein were determined and analyzed among Catfish, Atlantic Salmon, Sockeye Salmon, Shrimp, Red Tuna, Red Snapper, Tilapia, and Wild Cod. Electrophoresis provided a method of visualization of the samples, where Immunodection was then used to identify Actin/Myosin Light Chain ВЅ proteins. Wild Cod expressed the most Myosin LC ВЅ protein, whereas Shrimp expressed the least. Furthermore, both Wild Cod and Shrimp differed considerably in comparison to the determined volume intensity of the other seafood samples, which were closer in expression levels with one another. Animal behavior and habitat are factors that have overtime resulted in the overall amount and subsequent use of muscle. Thus analyzing the variance in Actin/Myosin ВЅ light chain protein expression serves as a tool in understanding adaptation and evolution among species. At this point, Dante is now more mature in his judgment of sins. Rather than feel pity for this sinner, he mocks the sinner for being submerged in a pile of excrement. His words do not present any compassion for the sinner. Dante yet again shows his maturity when he speaks to Count Ugolino, where he says, For if Count Ugolino had the fame of having thy castles thee betrayed, thou should not on such cross have put his sons (Alighieri, XXXIII 85). Dante feels no compassion for the Count, and condemns his for his apostate crime. Finally, Dante demonstrates floccinaucinihilipilification when he meets Bocca Delgi Abate. When Dante sees him, and then by the scalp I seized upon him, and said: it need to be thou name thyself or not a hair remains upon thee here (Alighieri, XXXIII 96). The main symptoms that occurred in the initial case study for us to distinguish this as an ectopic pregnancy was the nausea, traces of blood in the urine, and the abdominal pelvic pain. Abdominal pelvic pain occurs in ectopic pregnancy because the zygote falls into the fallopian tube instead of implanting itself into the uterus. The patient then took a physical exam in which some irregular results were found. The patient had sharp pains running through the abdomen and swelling of the lower right quadrant. These symptoms correlate with an ectopic pregnancy in that the fertilized egg could be implanted in the abdominal area. Also, in the physical exam, endometrial bleeding was discovered which is typically found early on in a pregnancy. Lastly, the physical exam showed that there were enlarged nodes in the submandibular, axillary, and inguinal regions. These irregular results lead us to believe that there is an abnormality in the pregnancy. In the blood chemistry panel, two results were found to be extremely higher than the reference range. They were estradiol and progesterone. According to the Walk In Lab, estradiol is only seen in the blood in large amounts during pregnancy. When estradiol levels are high and continually increase in steady amounts, this indicates that there is a pregnancy. Progesterone is used to detect if there is either infertility or a failing ... It consists of dribbling, passing, kicking, and much more. Sometimes there will be a bounce that must be trapped, and others there will be moves needed to blow by a defender. The game varies. Why Polylactic Acid And Polypropylene A plastic water bottle must be able to hold it shape, withstand high temperatures, must not absorb the water or release toxins, should be easy to clean and must be eco friendly. To understand this, it is first necessary to define polymers, how they are made and the intermolecular forces that lead to polymers properties. Two polymers, Polylactic acid and polypropylene, will be explained to illustrate the connection between structure and properties. The differences and similarities will be explained, followed by the environmental and economic considerations. These factors will be used to show why Polylactic acid is preferable to other polymers for the production of water bottle. A polymer is a long chain of molecules made up of many repeating identical units called monomers. A polymer made from two or more repeating units of monomers are called copolymers (Smith et al., 2006). Monomers are often made up of Hydrogen and Carbon with extra elements such as Oxygen, Nitrogen and Chlorine, creating the backbone of the polymer. These can be made synthetically, such as polyethylene or occur naturally like cellulose, as are the polymers being investigated are. There are three different types of bat species: The common vampire bat, hairy legged vampire bat and white winged vampire bat. These three different species are mostly native to the New World, but can be found in parts of Mexico and Brazil, Chile and Argentina. Their main source of food is blood. Instead of sucking the blood to feed on they make a small cut with their teeth and then lick up the blood from the fresh wound. While feeding, they can feed for up to 30 minutes without waking the animal they are feeding on up. They have a short muzzle and instead of a nose leaf, they have exposed (or naked) pads with u shaped grooves at the tip of the nose. The common vampire bat has thermoreceptors that help the bat to locate areas where the blood flows close in it s prey. Vampire bats have small ears and very short tail. The front teeth of a vampire bat are designed for cutting and the back teeth are smaller than other bats. A bat s brain processes sound and can detect breathing sounds of other animals sleeping.
