Today s Competitive Postal Service
Running Head: Today s Competitive Postal Service 2 The United States Postal Service began
operations in 1971 following the passing of the Postal Reorganization Act of 1970. In the decades that
have followed, the Postal Service has tried to remain relevant in a competitive business environment.
In order to be successful at this, a revamping of the agency was necessary in order to keep up with
advances in technology used by business and individuals, and to address an overall change in the
public attitude regarding old fashioned mail services. This transformation of the Postal Service has
been successful because of progressive management and effective leadership. Management and
leadership are not the same thing, however they are interrelated and complementary. Shafritz, Russell
and Borick (2010, pp. 361 362) state, Leadership is the exercise of authority, whether formal or
informal in directing and coordinating the work of others. Management involves power (usually
formal authority) ...with the power of management comes responsibility and accountability for the use
of organizational resources. In order be transformed, the Postal Service needed to implement new
management ideas combined with the pioneering concepts of new leadership. The power and authority
to implement new ideas and provide innovative leadership is held by the 11 member Board of
Governors of the Postal Service. According to The United States Postal Service website, As

The Quiet Kill Thesis
Quiet Kill The difficulty is to express them without squandering a quire of paper on an idea that ought
to be reduced to one glittering paragraph. We Americans love our prepositional phrases, such as: Out
of sight, off the charts, in the groove, on the ball, up the creek, down the tubes, in the dumper, out the
yin yang, off the wall, around the bend, below the belt, under the weather, and of course under the
table. When will Jesus bring the pork chops? The phone sounded again. He picked it up and said.
Hello? A man said with a deep voice, We got your love life and want a million five by noon tomorrow.

Job Satisfaction and Dissatisfaction
JOB SATISFACTION AND DISSATISFACTION By Bambang Fahruddin, S.Pd Posted: May 29th,
2008 INTRODUCTION The discussion of job satisfaction and dissatisfaction is largely generated
from the theories proposed by Maslow which is known with the so call the needs theory and Herzberg
s theory that is called two factor theory or hygiene theory . Both job satisfaction and dissatisfaction are
assumed critical for the organizations to manage since they absolutely affect the productivity as well
as the effectiveness of either the employees or the organization performance. This is proved by
Herzberg, Mausner Snyderman (1959) who argue that in order to boost the productivity of employees
in particular and organization in general, it is important ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
2. Herzberg s Theory Herzberg, et al (1959) proposed a theory known with the so called two factor
theory or in other words known as a two hierarchy of needs, namely first is motivators or satisfiers are
higher needs for achievement or the individual s need for self actualization in his work. They are the
job itself, recognition, achievement, responsibility, and advancement. These then play role to
determine either the job satisfaction or job performance. Afterwards is hygiene or maintenance factors
are believed to be lower order needs they are: supervision, interpersonal relations, working conditions,
status, salary, and advancement. If these factors are well administered by any organization, they can
prevent employees negative attitudes or employees dissatisfaction. Through the presence of
motivational factors at work, employees can lead to satisfaction as well as good performance. While,
the presence of hygiene factors at work can merely avoid employees dissatisfaction. In relation to this
point, Herzberg, et al (1959) state that the hygiene or extrinsic factors do not motivate employees but
they are not managed well might bring employees to dissatisfaction. THE IMPORTANCE OF JOB
SATISFACTION Referring to the previous explanation, we might come to a conclusion that the good
and successful management of job satisfaction within any

The Prime Minister Of Canada
In 2014 Pierre Elliot Trudeau, the 15th Prime Minister of Canada, was listed in CBC s Top 10 list of
Canadian Heroes; but was Trudeau really a hero? (http://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/top 10 canadian

started out in politics as a layer in Quebec and as an activist in Quebec politics. In the 1960s Trudeau
got involved in federal politics with the Liberal party. In 1968 he became the leader of the party and
was elected as Prime Minister of Canada. Trudeau remained in office from 1968 1979 and again from

The Royal Commission on Bilingualism and Biculturalism was released in 1967, giving
recommendations to the federal government on steps to be taken for equality across ethnicities. The
primary recommendation was for the implantation of a policy for official bilingualism, making both
English and French of equal importance in Canada (Language rights and judicial wrongs: Official
bilingualism jurisprudence in Canada s provincial courts. Pg 11). The report also recommended that
bilingualism be increased in all of the provinces. Once Pierre Trudeau gained office one of his first
things on his agenda was to bring in the Official Languages Act (OLA) in 1969, making both French
and English equally recognized in Canada. Trudeau did not support the nationalists in Quebec with
their goal of separatism and this was his way to make French Canadians feel they were of greater
importance to the county (Language rights and judicial wrongs: Official bilingualism jurisprudence in
Canada s provincial courts. Pg 12). Trudeau saw that this policy should strengthen national unity in
Canada through various ways. It was thought that making the French speaking of equal importance as
the English speaking in Canada it would reduce the rising pressure coming from Quebec to separate
from Canada.. The bilingualism was also a hope that across Canada communications would become
easier due to the knocking

Pyramidal Cells (PC)
Pyramidal cells(PC) are the source of excitatory input to the cortex, similarly the granule cell in the
cerebellum, core and matrix thalamocortical cells in the thalamus, and by STN in the basal ganglia.
GABA is responsible for keeping a tab on excitatory activity in the brain and prevent the occurrence
of a seizure (9). The process of surround inhibition occurs at every station(i.e. in the spinal cord,
brainstem, thalamus, somatosensory cortex) for discriminative active touch and is regulated by GABA
interneuron. These interneurons allow only the strongest input to go through resulting in precision and
make it possible for two distinct points stimulated on the skin to be interpreted by adjusting the
effective receptive field size(23).This ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The inhibitory control is provided by basket cells which are GABA ergic. The GABA release is
activated by incoming glutamate activity (7). Inhibition mediated by basket cells is enhanced when
excitability increases during preparation prior to movement(motor set)(7). Basket cell activity helps
control the output of PC and describing the discharge pattern of these cells. Double bouquet
cells(DBC) are responsible for restricting the activity of minicolumn and preventing a spread of
activity(7). They also inhibit basal and apical dendrites of the CM cell (7,11). Top down influence
mediated by thalamocortical connections and cortico cortical connections result in activation of local
GABA ergic interneurons and glutamatergic neurons, inhibition of the basket cells/chandelier/DBC
results in disinhibition of the CM cells leading to the conversion of No Go to Go (7). The position of
DBC enables its role in controlling the horizontal influence of overlapping PC(7). Recent studies
indicate critical role of inhibitory interneurons located in L1 a)single bouquet cell which inhibits local
interneuron that has an effect on dendrites, soma, axon hillock of L5 pyramidal cell but not the
pyramidal cell itself(disinhibition effect on few PC) and b) Neurogliaform cells inhibition of apical

The Devastating Effects Of Hurricane Sandy
Hurricane Sandy Hurricane Sandy was a devastating storm that affected Countries in the Caribbean as
well as the Eastern Seaboard of the United States in late October 2012. From Florida to Maine,
sensors along the coast measured the storm surge, and the accompanying winds felt as far inland as
Michigan and Wisconsin. The pinnacle of its life it was a Category 3 storm while crossing Cuba, soon
after it downgraded to a Category 1 storm. It climaxed once more as a Category 2 hurricane and the
winds covering over 1,000 miles across the diameter. Even though the storm was not as strong as it
could have been, the effects were severe due to the location of where it made landfall. When Sandy

of a terrible rainstorm, the faint outline of the eye tattoo began to appear. Clearer and clearer it grew
until it was as dark as it had been when the orphans first saw it, back when they had lived with Count

Symbolism In The Tortilla Certain
A coyote is not only a wolf like wild dog that is native to North America, it also is a name for someone
who profits from smuggling immigrants across the US border, typically the Mexican border for a high
fee. There is much myth and lure that is surrounding the coyote dog like animal and there are
thousands of stories and believes about what coyote means. It s the great trickster, it has magical
powers, the medicine dog. The bringer of misfortune, signifying a time when everything backfires.
Indeed, symbolism is extracted from such myths and used to represent ideas or qualities. The story
seems to follow the lure in the way the coyotes have many symbolic contexts throughout the story that
add a deeper meaning to the The Tortilla Curtain.
Through metaphors and deeper meaning the book takes on a start contrast between Delaney
Mossbacher who lives the American Dream and Cándido and America Rincón who struggle to attempt
to reach that dream. The wall symbolizes fear and segregation from outside elements and increases
racism attitudes towards immigrants. Boyle also uses the symbolic messages using wild animals,
coyotes in particular, in order to create racism throughout the story. Thus, using animals, physical
barriers, food, possessions, and lifestyle the author of The Tortilla Certain, T.C. Boyle creates
symbolic meaning of a world of separation.
T.C. Boyle in the Tortilla Curtain heavily draws symbolic meaning from the coyotes who like the

Electronic Devices And Appliances Has Changed The Quality...
In the past decades, the demand for electronic devices and appliances has been in demand in many
nations. That is due to the ever changing technology that has led to the replacement of the old
electrical and technological devices. Nonetheless, with the advancement in technology, individual
needs across the globe have also changed. The modern technological devices have to a great extent
simplified life where most of the activities that were manually done in the past are now done using
technologically advanced machines. That has significantly improved the quality of the output.
Moreover, the production process has been made more efficient. For instance, accounting tasks in
almost all offices across the globe have embraced the use of computers. That has not only simplified
the work done by the accountants but also increased the accuracy (Andritzky, 2007). The demand for
these devices has given business opportunities to many investors who seek to provide and avail the
machines to customers across the globe. Britsam Company is a firm that has been in operation for the
last few decades. It is a major company that engages in various technological activities where it
produces varied technologically sophisticated accessories. Moreover, the company carries out
intensive research before manufacturing their accessories. Nonetheless, in the recent past, Britsam
Company has liaised with other producing companies where it engages in the distribution of these

Genetic Transformation And Its Effect On The Green...
The incorporation a plasmid vector, pGLO, into Escherichia coli via transformation is described. This
recombinant plasmid that has been altered contains the ability to fluoresce green under ultraviolet light
because of the Green Fluorescent Protein (GFP). pGLO also encompasses an antibiotic resistance
gene, bla, that allows E. coli to grow in media that contains penicillin derivative antibiotics such as
ampicillin. We conclude that the protein, GFP, is indeed responsible for the green fluorescence as
pGLO contains the gene to encode for it, which is turned on when arabinose is present. Additionally,
when the protein is subjected to denaturation, it decreases the fluorescence and changes the
conformation of the protein structure. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Plasmids are the extra chromosomal DNA in which most bacteria contain in addition to their bacterial
chromosome. Plasmids can be used as vectors to transfer DNA into a host bacterium. A nonpathogenic
strain of Escherichia coli (E. coli) HB101;K 12, is the host bacterium used to take up the plasmid with
the imported gene to be observed. pGLO is a recombinant plasmid that consists of a gene that codes
for Green Fluorescent Protein (GFP) and also contains a gene, beta lactam antibiotic (bla), that
expresses antibiotic resistance. GFP is a protein that is produced by the jellyfish Aequoria victoria and
has the ability to fluoresce green when exposed to ultraviolet (UV) light. The gene for GFP can be
turned on in the transformed bacterial cell in the presence of the sugar, arabinose. The bacteria that
contain the beta lactam antibiotic have the ability to create beta lactamase, which is an enzyme that
hydrolyzes the beta lactam rings of antibiotics which penicillin derivatives (among a broad range of
others) contain, deeming them incompetent. Beta lactam antibiotics inhibit the peptidoglycan layer of
the bacterial cell wall and because E.coli is a gram negative bacteria, its peptidoglycan layer is easily
susceptible to inhibition. pGLO contains fundamental genes that take part in the replication of the
plasmid DNA and the expression of its traits. bla (indicated by Amp in Figure A) is a gene that codes

The Fish By Elizabeth Bishop Summary
Elizabeth Bishop s poem, The Fish, details an account of someone s experience catching a fish. The
person catching the fish, presumed as the narrator, describes the fish s intricate details which
essentially gives it an ugly appearance. In an explication of The Fish from Bedford St. Martin s, the
analyzer also notes how the narrator s descriptions yield an ugly appearance of the fish, but with
further observation, the narrator realizes the beauty deep within the fish and the fact that the fish is a
warrior. The ugly description of the outside of the fish may correlate with how some people tend to
make a quick judgment based on someone s appearance without taking the time to think about what
their personality or characteristics include. Or even to think about what that person has been through
that has caused them to look that way. Evidently, as the poem continues, the narrator reveals that the
fish has been through at least five battles, according to the physical scars left in its jaw. The fish, a
symbol for anyone who has dealt with difficulties during their life, will persevere even while the
outside world continues its routine. The world will never stop for one person or, in this case, an animal
from the poem, The Fish. All other people follow through with their daily tasks and the sun still shines
in the morning. Comparably, in The Fish, the crickets went on with their chatter and the soft rain
incessantly fell on the leaves and in the lake. Although neither of

Gospel Of Luke Research Paper
All of the Gospels have a special and important message within them. It is the Gospel of Luke that
today s Christians need the most though, due to the message that it holds within it. It seems as though
todays Christians seem to have lost the understanding that G d loves everyone and that Jesus came and
died for everyone. In the Gospel of Luke, the main focus of it is that Jesus is for everyone. This can be
seen in many different aspects of the Gospel, all the way from when Jesus was born in the barn to His
resurrection when it was stated that He is the Son of Man (Luke 24:7). Luke was written by a Gentile
Christian who intended this Gospel to be read by other Gentile Christians of that time. Just by these
two things it can be seen that ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Modern Christians could be the ones who make the first step in making that change, and even though
it may not fix the whole issue, it can make a very large impact on it. The three things that were
mentioned here are not the only issues that the Gospel of Luke can help change, but these were just an
example of them to show just how powerful Luke can be. In every situation, it came down to the same
thing, that Jesus is for everyone; so why don t modern Christians try to do just that and treat everyone

Milk Curd Mass Lab Report
Title
Which type of milk produced the greatest amount of curd mass?
Purpose
The purpose of this lab was to determine which type of milk produced the greatest amount of curd
mass.
Background Information What is milk curd? Milk curd is a secondary result of the effects of acid and
enzymes on milk proteins and lipids. When acid is added to milk, this causes the milk to separate into
curds and whey (Suleiman).
Cow s milk is made up of 87% water and 13% solids; these solids include minerals, lactose, fats, and
proteins. Chemically, these milk proteins are made up of the two main proteins: casein and whey.
3.4% of milk solids contain these two main proteins ( The Chemistry of Milk ). The specific milk
protein casein makes up 80% of this composition ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
In the Type of Milk vs. Curd Mass lab, it was found that Fairlife Ultra Filtered Milk produced the
most amount of curd mass. Because this dairy company Fairlife reconstitutes the composition of the
milk after it is pasteurized, this creates a higher ratio of protein to other milk components. The Fairlife
Ultra Filtered Milk produced on average 5.6 grams of curd mass. The Whole milk, which was the
control, produced on average 3.4 grams of curd mass. Whenever there is a higher amount of protein
present in any type of milk, these proteins will denature when mixed with acid and much more curd
will be present. This lead to the greatest amount of curd mass in Fairlife Ultra Filtered Milk in
comparison to the whole milk, lactose free milk, and organic milk.

A Good Guy With A Gun
Wayne LaPierre, an American author and gun rights advocate, once said, The only thing that stops a
bad guy with a gun is a good guy with a gun, which is an expression that has no implication with
civilians stopping a criminal during a crime scene and is a statement that continues to lead everyone
getting hurt in the end. No mass shooting in the past thirty years has been stopped by an armed
civilian. A good guy with a gun has never contributed to stopping a felon during a crime scene, so why
would people believe that someone with a gun would try to stop someone else with a gun? During a
crime scene with an offender threatening people with a gun, a civilian trying to use their gun just
makes the situation worse and causes more chaos. A good guy with a gun will not be extremely
helpful or effective against a bad guy with a gun, just more pandemonium. Also, when a firearm dealer
is selling a gun to a stranger, he does not know whether or not that stranger is a good guy or a bad guy,
so what if he was a bad guy? What if that same night, the man he just sold a gun to was going to use
that same gun to kill an innocent family in their own home?
Right now, there is no effective way for people to know who the bad guy is and who the good guy is,
so people just end up selling guns to nearly everyone who can pay for one. Today in United States
history, gun control laws are very weak and ineffective in controlling the great harms and dangers than
can be caused by guns. Guns lead to

Optical Fiber Essay
Optical fiber cables and connectors are a very essential part of the infrastructure in the world today.
Because of the many advantages the optical fiber cables and connectors have over the old age
traditional coaxial cables that were used in the olden days, fiber cables have outdone the performance
the communications industry has ever reached in the past.
Optical fiber cable is a cable that contains one or more than one optical fibers. These fibers carry data

OPTICAL FIBER CABLES:
DESIGN:
The basic optical fiber cable consists of a core and a cladding and the refractive indices of the two
differ. A substance called Polyimide is coated on the cladding of the fiber which doesn t let the fiber
get damaged. Fibers which are bundled together are given a tough resin buffer layer and core tubes
extruded around them to the cable core. Many covering layers are also added to the fiber depending
upon the application of the fiber. Sometimes, light prohibiting dark glasses are also used between
fibers so that light from one fiber doesn t leak and enter another fiber and cause distortion. This also
helps in reducing cross talk.
For fibers which are meant to be used indoors, the fiber is usually jacketed and enclosed in a flexible
strength member in a lightweight plastic tube to form a simple cable.
If the cable is meant to be used in an environment in which the fiber can be subjected to stress and
strain, the cable construction must be strong and healthy. When the loose tube construction is used,
semi rigid tubes are used, and they are laid helically into them. This is done so that the fiber gets space
to stretch without causing tension in the cable itself. This way

With strong R D centers, the company designed a lessened sugar chocolate Truvia (Marketline, 2013),
which it sold intensively in retail chains of the USA, discussed in the next section of the report.
Cargill targets commodity markets in Asia, yet it prefers the Western markets for experimental and
marketing oriented commerce.
As a commodity company, Cargill targets resource markets, however its marketing activities tend to
concentrate in the West because in USA or Europe Cargill has a better foothold. Instead its commodity
and mass produced goods are spread in the rest of the world with an exception of Sri Lanka, where the
company holds a retail chain (Seas of Change, 2010).
Marketing activities in the West are more horizontally integrated: in a joint with Coca Cola, Cargill
devised sugar free sweetener for sugar conscious market in USA (Cargill,2013). Efficient work can be
seen behind Cargill s R D team which correctly identified American market accounting for nearly 80%
of reduced fats/sugars market (Confectionery,2011) .

Traditional expectations hold that, when one is young, it is impossible to be knowledgeable and have
the necessary experience and competence to manage successfully.
* The Salary System * Polish managers expressed difficulty in adjusting to the confidentiality of the
new salary system. The Polish and U.S managers differed in the beliefs regarding what information
was personal and what information should be public. Polish managers wanted to know as much about
each other s salaries as possible. They had no problems asking another employee about exactly how
much they were paid. To the Polish managers, this served as a means of establishing their relative
status. * For the expatriate U.S Americans, however, it was not part of the company culture to reveal
explicit salary information. Salary information was considered personal and confidential. Most felt
that revealing salary information disrupted the family climate of the organization. Instead, the
Americans expressed faith in the system of assessment and reward allocation.
* Team Goals * Working not only for your own interests but also for the success of the team or the

Persuasive Essay About Whataburger
Since 1950, Whataburger has proudly served a bigger, better burger. Over six decades ago, an
adventurous and determined entrepreneur named Harmon Dobson had a bold idea: to serve a burger so
big that it took two hands to hold, and so good that after a single bite customer couldn t help but
exclaim. A burger restaurant should be clean and have a fresh food. First, people try many restaurants,
but sometimes if they like something, they will keep going to same restaurant even if wasn t that good,
but they used to like it form the begging. Whataburger is the best burger fast food restaurants in Texas
because they bring new sandwiches, and they open 24 hours a day and 7 days a week. That the best
part for me because sometimes people are hungry after 10pm. Most of the restaurants will be close at
10 o clock, and people don t have many choices. And maybe that s the reason people like Whataburger
especially at night time.
Whataburger is the best because they just made a new sandwich called Watachicken and it s so good
to many people said, they like it. People can see this restaurant is always busy even at the night time.
People like Whataburger because they have food for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. And Whataburger
have the biggest sandwich for the rest of the fast food restaurants, and people see that, because if
people need something to make them satisfied.
People don t hear many bad comments about this restaurant, and that s why people keep going there
most of the time. This

Pros And Cons Of Zoo s Involvement In Wildlife Conservation
Animal captivation has been an on going debate for many years. The idea of taking wildlife from their
homes, in many eyes, is tragic. To others, it is a step in the right direction. It is a step towards, not only
well developed and in depth research, butalso a step towards the conservation of endangered species.
As one can tell, these views can be quite disputable, however this paper will discuss and compare both
perspectives as well as dive into more specific aspects of wildlife captivity. Some of these aspects
include the lifespan comparisons, specific roaming necessities per animal and even changes in animal
behavior. Of course, keeping animals in captivity has pros and cons. Given that researchers are still
uncertain of captivity ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This collection of sources includes mostly online articles as well as several news articles and books.
The sources range from the discussions of the lifespan of numerous animals tothe reasoning behind
study observations and research. In Zoos Involvement in Wildlife Conservation, Ramsey begins by
explaining the comparison between the beginning of animal captivity to the modern day
characteristics. He describes the very first zoos as having the focus to gain profit from the public,
rather than the concentration being towards the welfare of the animal. Today, the well being of animals
is the top priority in many programs across the world. Not only does this article also describe the
challenges that the programs must face, but also the difficult decisions the leaders are required to
make to continue their success in advanced research and conservation. Some of which include the
decision on whether or not to offer predators live prey to exert their natural hunting instincts. The
source concludes by informing the audience that some species could not have survived without the
help and involvement of zoos. Vittania.org emphasizes the effects on animals in captivity in its article
21 Pros and Cons of Zoos. This source explains how zoos provide educational learning, preservation
of endangered animals to prevent extinction, humane treatment towards the animals, readily available
veterinary care. In addition, zoos also serve as an economic resource for the community by providing
jobs and increasing tourism statistics. It goes on to explain the negative impacts such as changes in
their natural behaviors. Elephants, for example, need larger enclosures than a zoo can accommodate.
Restricting the animals natural need to migrate results in a shorter lifespan in captivity and also a more
aggressive temperament.Another negative impact

Suicide Informative Speech
Attention getter: Mentalhealth.gov states 112 Americans die by suicide every day, and 9.4 million
people have thought about or considered suicide within the last 12 months.
Specific purpose: Today, I am going to advocate for the Crisis Intervention and Recovery Center
Credibility: I have completed research about the Crisis Intervention and Recovery Center. I never
really knew anything about the Crisis center until I started working with a co worker that lost her son
to suicide. Talking to her and her daughter in law I learned a lot about the crisis center.
Preview: First I am going to inform you about the issue on suicide, Second, I am going to inform you
about the crisis center and all the programs and ways they can help loved ones, and finally I am going
to inform you about how you can help out and get involved.
Transition: I would first like to talk about the issues with suicide.
Main Point 1: Suicide is a rising health problem that causes endless amounts of pain, suffering and a
cause of loss for loved ones. According to the CDC, suicide claims 44,193 lives in the United states
making it the tenth leading cause of death. Suicide is the third cause for death of individuals from the
age of 15 34 and there was twice as many suicides (44,193) than homicides (17,793).
Mentalhealth.gov states that there are many warning signs when people are thinking about suicide for
example, talking about wanting to die, talking about being a burden to others, sleeping to little or too
much, and extreme mood swings.
Transition: Now that we have talked about the issues with suicide, I would like to talk about the crisis
center and how they can help loved ones.
Main Point 2: The Crisis center is full of doctors, nurses, and LPN s to help with their patient s needs.
They have 12 beds for voluntary adult admission and 7 beds for medical unit for detox and break the
cycle for voluntary adult admission. The crisis center states that their mission is to provide person

Analysis Of Arnold Wesker s The Kitchen
Britain in the 1950s was rife with many challenges and changes. Whilst the Second World War had
been over for years, war lived in the hearts of the nation. In 1953, Princess Elizabeth became Queen
Elizabeth II, the first female monarch in over 50 years and the ever present struggle of being a woman
in a world of men is referenced in Arnold Wesker s The Kitchen. A kitchen sink drama play, the issues
raised in the play are as relevant today as they were in the 1950s. From abortion to war, and
consequently, immigration, Wesker s play managed to merge the beliefs of two completely different
generations in one play.
David Mathieson states in Radical London in the 1950s, the possibility of Third World War cast a long
shadow over the politics of the 1950s . Many of the characters in The Kitchen came to Britain to
escape the horrors of war, such as Peter, Paul and Frank. Despite the last major war being finished
over a decade previous, there were many wars still being fought across the world with men signing up
to them thanks to the National Service. Moreover, due to the wars, a sundry of people came over to
Britain for a chance at a better life or at least to make money to send over to families in war torn areas
of Europe. However, as immigration increased, so did racial prejudices. This is notable in The Kitchen
through many of the British born characters, Bertha and Violet are just a few. In our version of the
play, Bertha clearly has a hatred of foreigners. Bertha: Don t you

10. Based on that phylogeny, write in the sister taxon (taxon A) to Proboscidea.
Give the formal name.
Taxon A or Sirenia Proboscidea
11. Write in the taxon (taxon B) that is sister to the clade composed of (Proboscidea + Taxon A). Give
formal name
Taxon B or Taxon A Proboscidea Hyracoidea
12. Perform an internet search for these two taxa and find out their common names.
What are their common names? Describe each.
The common name for Sirenia is Sea Cow. Sea cows are fully aquatic, herbivorous mammals that
appear fat. They have forelimbs used for steering and a tail used for paddling. The common name for
Hyracoidea are hyraxes. Hyraxes are well furred animals with short tails and have poor internal
temperature regulation.
What was your thought/reaction upon discovering what these creatures are?
My thought reaction was how can animals that look nothing alike be similar to an elephant if they
visually look different.
Believe it or not, there are morphological (phenotypic) similarities as well as dietary and behavioral
similarities between all of these taxa. BEFORE molecular data was available, scientists already
suspected that these groups were

Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and Family Interventions for...
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy and Family Interventions for Psychosis
Psychosocial treatments for schizophrenia are not new in the research literature. Psychological
treatments have been previously used in the treatment of schizophrenia. For example in terms of
behaviour therapy, operant approaches such as token economy programmes were used in the 1960s
and 1970s to improve the behaviour of patients in long stay hospitals. However, the evidence suggests
that the clinical gains were limited and did not generalise beyond the therapeutic setting and also did
not address delusional convictions (Alford 1986; Himadi et al 1991). Other psychological treatments
for schizophrenia can be traced to early ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
These interventions are also beneficial to relatives, and are effective in improving the quality of the
family environment (Penn Mueser 1996). Psychosocial interventions are aimed at empowering
patients, and, as Slade Haddock (1996) have pointed out, since the 1980s, the task of the therapist was
no longer to change the behaviour of the patient but rather to help the client to change their own
behaviour, if they wish to do so .
This chapter provides an overview of family interventions and cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT)
for psychotic symptoms. There has been a lot of research and clinical interest in the effectiveness of
CBT for patients with psychosis. Unfortunately, the provision of family interventions in routine
services has been disappointing, despite vigorous training programmes. Notwithstanding some notable
exceptions in the UK, such as Bath (Smith Velleman, 2002) and Somerset (Stanbridge et al, 2003),
increasing the availability of family work remains a challenge for most service providers.
The aim is not to provide a comprehensive academic review of family interventions and CBT for
serious mental illness. Instead, it is to give the reader an overview of the state of research and
developments of recent research studies. This chapter also tries to condense the available

Integrity In Beowulf
Integrity is the basis for trust in society. Without integrity, religion, education, commerce, and
structural leadership cannot succeed. The importance of integrity has been stressed since the beginning
of time in the Garden of Eden when God told Adam and Eve not to eat the fruit of the tree, but they
went against God s command at the words of a convincing serpent. Integrity is a strong theme in
medieval times often interwoven in code taken and upheld by the heroes of the time. This code is
exhibited in much of the medieval tales in British literature. To have integrity in medieval culture is to
follow some moral code defined by the society in which one lived. The understanding of what
integrity is in the medieval times was determined by the virtuous and honorable life one lives and
what values are of importance in the medieval society. Beowulf, as well as Geoffrey Chaucer s The
Canterbury Tales, depicts the idea of integrity or lack of in the medieval ages. In the tale, Beowulf, our

Compare and Contrast Gibson’s and Gregory’s theories of...
Compare and Contrast Gibson s and Gregory s theories of perception Gibson s and Gregory s theories
of perception both suggest that eye retina is important for perception. The both believe that without
eye retina, a person will not be able to see. This is a common view of both of the theories of
perception. The idea is supported by the case of SB. SB was a man who had been blind from birth due
to cataracts. When he was 52, he had an operation which restored his sight and hence he could see.
Thus, this case has shown the importance of eye retina for things to be perceived. And therefore,
supports both of theories of perception which eye retina is essential for perception.
Gibson believes in the direct theories of perception which ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
It may be that a genetic predisposition to perception exists, but that situational factors also have to be
in place for it to develop.
Apart from the above, there are a few more differences between Gibson s and Gregory s theories of
perception. Gregory believes that additional processing is required for perception which some forms
of background knowledge is needed to make sense of the environment than just the sensory input
while Gibson believes that perception is part of an inbuilt adaptive mechanism for survival which does
not rely on stored knowledge or past experience.
Gregory believes that expectations have an impact on perceptions which Gibson disagrees. There is
empirical evidence supporting the idea of Gregory, and this comes from a study carried out by Simons
and Levin. 50% of the participants failed to realise that there was a switch of people. This is probably
due to the fact that the participants had not expected a change of person. Hence, they were unable to
perceive it. Furthermore, a study carried out by Selfridge also supports the idea of Gregory. Selfridge s
study demonstrates that our perceptions are mediated by our expectations as people are able to read
the figures as the cat . This is because people have the expectations of the cat as they are words in
common usage. These studies have shown that people saw what they have been

Horace Mann s The Banking Concept Of Education
Education throughout the world is viewed as a privilege. It s a chance for individuals to expand their
knowledge. It helps create a successful path for the social and economical structures of a society. Or at
least, that s the idea. People like Horace Mann argue that education is , the great equalizer of the
conditions of men, making education sound essential and liberating. Others, like Paulo Freire, argue
that education is suffering of narration sickness and is in need of a reform because the system is tied to
an extensive social structure of oppression. Freire introduces The Banking Concept of Education in
which he addresses that the current educational system involves one type of educator; the banking
concept teacher. These teachers ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Freire notes , In the banking concept of education, knowledge is a gift bestowed by those who
consider themselves knowledgeable upon those whom they consider to know nothing... they never
discover that they educate the teacher. He is claiming that the teachers display themselves as the only
fountain of knowledge in the classroom, creating oppression and disengagement towards the students
because they are led to believe that they can t make any contributions in the classroom. Freire also
states that having one educator results in narration sickness because the teacher talks about reality as if
it were motionless, static, compartmentalized, and predictable extracting the students from reality.
This narration sickness is Freire s problem with the banking concept because he believes it limits the
students in believing that they have the power to change their life and social

Identifying An Unknown Substance Can Be Accomplished With...
Data Analysis
Identifying an unknown substance can be accomplished with the use of multiple scientific tests.
Conducting these experiments will narrow down the possibilities of the unknown compound. The
number of the unknown substance that I was given was A84841BIR, It posed to be a challenge since I
needed to test three different molecular combinations for this specific substance. Once the number of
moles the in substance was calculated using the ideal gas law, I divided it from the sample mass
number. After vaporizing away the unknown compound, I then concluded that the molarity of my
unknown chemical was 58.93 g/mol. To find my molecular formula I calculated the mass of each
element, then the moles, lastly I took the smallest whole number ratio. Using the molarity calculated I
was able to do some research to get a better understanding of what my unknown chemical could be.
Once I have collected all my data together and researched the Internet for articles relating to
understanding Infa Red spectroscopy, I should be able to make an educated guess upon what my
unknown solution could be.
The first step was to calculate the molecular formula, using the given masses on the combustion
worksheet. Using the ideal gas law, I converted the given grams to moles. The next step was to find
out the amount of oxygen in the combustion, then after more calculations, I was able to plug my value
into the ideal gas law and find the molecular weight. After calculating the molecular formula I

  • 2. Today s Competitive Postal Service Running Head: Today s Competitive Postal Service 2 The United States Postal Service began operations in 1971 following the passing of the Postal Reorganization Act of 1970. In the decades that have followed, the Postal Service has tried to remain relevant in a competitive business environment. In order to be successful at this, a revamping of the agency was necessary in order to keep up with advances in technology used by business and individuals, and to address an overall change in the public attitude regarding old fashioned mail services. This transformation of the Postal Service has been successful because of progressive management and effective leadership. Management and leadership are not the same thing, however they are interrelated and complementary. Shafritz, Russell and Borick (2010, pp. 361 362) state, Leadership is the exercise of authority, whether formal or informal in directing and coordinating the work of others. Management involves power (usually formal authority) ...with the power of management comes responsibility and accountability for the use of organizational resources. In order be transformed, the Postal Service needed to implement new management ideas combined with the pioneering concepts of new leadership. The power and authority to implement new ideas and provide innovative leadership is held by the 11 member Board of Governors of the Postal Service. According to The United States Postal Service website, As ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

We Americans love our prepositional phrases, such as: Out of sight, off the charts, in the groove, on the ball, up the creek, down the tubes, in the dumper, out the yin yang, off the wall, around the bend, below the belt, under the weather, and of course under the table. • 4. Job Satisfaction and Dissatisfaction JOB SATISFACTION AND DISSATISFACTION By Bambang Fahruddin, S.Pd Posted: May 29th, 2008 INTRODUCTION The discussion of job satisfaction and dissatisfaction is largely generated from the theories proposed by Maslow which is known with the so call the needs theory and Herzberg s theory that is called two factor theory or hygiene theory . Both job satisfaction and dissatisfaction are assumed critical for the organizations to manage since they absolutely affect the productivity as well as the effectiveness of either the employees or the organization performance. This is proved by Herzberg, Mausner Snyderman (1959) who argue that in order to boost the productivity of employees in particular and organization in general, it is important ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... 2. Herzberg s Theory Herzberg, et al (1959) proposed a theory known with the so called two factor theory or in other words known as a two hierarchy of needs, namely first is motivators or satisfiers are higher needs for achievement or the individual s need for self actualization in his work. They are the job itself, recognition, achievement, responsibility, and advancement. These then play role to determine either the job satisfaction or job performance. Afterwards is hygiene or maintenance factors are believed to be lower order needs they are: supervision, interpersonal relations, working conditions, status, salary, and advancement. If these factors are well administered by any organization, they can prevent employees negative attitudes or employees dissatisfaction. Through the presence of motivational factors at work, employees can lead to satisfaction as well as good performance. While, the presence of hygiene factors at work can merely avoid employees dissatisfaction. In relation to this point, Herzberg, et al (1959) state that the hygiene or extrinsic factors do not motivate employees but they are not managed well might bring employees to dissatisfaction. THE IMPORTANCE OF JOB SATISFACTION Referring to the previous explanation, we might come to a conclusion that the good and successful management of job satisfaction within any ... (http://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/top 10 canadian heroes list includes pierre trudeau jack layton 1.2676398). Pierre Trudeau, born in Montreal in 1919, started out in politics as a layer in Quebec and as an activist in Quebec politics. In the 1960s Trudeau got involved in federal politics with the Liberal party. In 1968 he became the leader of the party and was elected as Prime Minister of Canada. Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Royal Commission on Bilingualism and Biculturalism was released in 1967, giving recommendations to the federal government on steps to be taken for equality across ethnicities. The primary recommendation was for the implantation of a policy for official bilingualism, making both English and French of equal importance in Canada (Language rights and judicial wrongs: Official bilingualism jurisprudence in Canada s provincial courts. Pg 11). The report also recommended that bilingualism be increased in all of the provinces. Once Pierre Trudeau gained office one of his first things on his agenda was to bring in the Official Languages Act (OLA) in 1969, making both French and English equally recognized in Canada. Trudeau did not support the nationalists in Quebec with their goal of separatism and this was his way to make French Canadians feel they were of greater importance to the county (Language rights and judicial wrongs: Official bilingualism jurisprudence in Canada s provincial courts. Pg 12). Trudeau saw that this policy should strengthen national unity in Canada through various ways. It was thought that making the French speaking of equal importance as the English speaking in Canada it would reduce the rising pressure coming from Quebec to separate from Canada.. The bilingualism was also a hope that across Canada communications would become easier due to the knocking ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 6. Pyramidal Cells (PC) Pyramidal cells(PC) are the source of excitatory input to the cortex, similarly the granule cell in the cerebellum, core and matrix thalamocortical cells in the thalamus, and by STN in the basal ganglia. GABA is responsible for keeping a tab on excitatory activity in the brain and prevent the occurrence of a seizure (9). The process of surround inhibition occurs at every station(i.e. in the spinal cord, brainstem, thalamus, somatosensory cortex) for discriminative active touch and is regulated by GABA interneuron. These interneurons allow only the strongest input to go through resulting in precision and make it possible for two distinct points stimulated on the skin to be interpreted by adjusting the effective receptive field size(23).This ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The inhibitory control is provided by basket cells which are GABA ergic. The GABA release is activated by incoming glutamate activity (7). Inhibition mediated by basket cells is enhanced when excitability increases during preparation prior to movement(motor set)(7). Basket cell activity helps control the output of PC and describing the discharge pattern of these cells. Double bouquet cells(DBC) are responsible for restricting the activity of minicolumn and preventing a spread of activity(7). They also inhibit basal and apical dendrites of the CM cell (7,11). Top down influence mediated by thalamocortical connections and cortico cortical connections result in activation of local GABA ergic interneurons and glutamatergic neurons, inhibition of the basket cells/chandelier/DBC results in disinhibition of the CM cells leading to the conversion of No Go to Go (7). Count Olaf even puts fake makeup on his tattoo so that the kids don t see it at first, but then Mr. Poe erases the makeup. On page 173, it says, At first, nothing appeared to happen, but then, like a sun shining through clouds at the end of a terrible rainstorm, the faint outline of the eye tattoo began to appear. • 9. Symbolism In The Tortilla Certain A coyote is not only a wolf like wild dog that is native to North America, it also is a name for someone who profits from smuggling immigrants across the US border, typically the Mexican border for a high fee. There is much myth and lure that is surrounding the coyote dog like animal and there are thousands of stories and believes about what coyote means. It s the great trickster, it has magical powers, the medicine dog. The bringer of misfortune, signifying a time when everything backfires. Indeed, symbolism is extracted from such myths and used to represent ideas or qualities. The story seems to follow the lure in the way the coyotes have many symbolic contexts throughout the story that add a deeper meaning to the The Tortilla Curtain. Through metaphors and deeper meaning the book takes on a start contrast between Delaney Mossbacher who lives the American Dream and Cándido and America Rincón who struggle to attempt to reach that dream. The wall symbolizes fear and segregation from outside elements and increases racism attitudes towards immigrants. Boyle also uses the symbolic messages using wild animals, coyotes in particular, in order to create racism throughout the story. Thus, using animals, physical barriers, food, possessions, and lifestyle the author of The Tortilla Certain, T.C. Boyle creates symbolic meaning of a world of separation. T.C. • 11. Genetic Transformation And Its Effect On The Green... The incorporation a plasmid vector, pGLO, into Escherichia coli via transformation is described. This recombinant plasmid that has been altered contains the ability to fluoresce green under ultraviolet light because of the Green Fluorescent Protein (GFP). pGLO also encompasses an antibiotic resistance gene, bla, that allows E. coli to grow in media that contains penicillin derivative antibiotics such as ampicillin. We conclude that the protein, GFP, is indeed responsible for the green fluorescence as pGLO contains the gene to encode for it, which is turned on when arabinose is present. Additionally, when the protein is subjected to denaturation, it decreases the fluorescence and changes the conformation of the protein structure. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Plasmids are the extra chromosomal DNA in which most bacteria contain in addition to their bacterial chromosome. Plasmids can be used as vectors to transfer DNA into a host bacterium. A nonpathogenic strain of Escherichia coli (E. coli) HB101;K 12, is the host bacterium used to take up the plasmid with the imported gene to be observed. pGLO is a recombinant plasmid that consists of a gene that codes for Green Fluorescent Protein (GFP) and also contains a gene, beta lactam antibiotic (bla), that expresses antibiotic resistance. GFP is a protein that is produced by the jellyfish Aequoria victoria and has the ability to fluoresce green when exposed to ultraviolet (UV) light. The gene for GFP can be turned on in the transformed bacterial cell in the presence of the sugar, arabinose. The bacteria that contain the beta lactam antibiotic have the ability to create beta lactamase, which is an enzyme that hydrolyzes the beta lactam rings of antibiotics which penicillin derivatives (among a broad range of others) contain, deeming them incompetent. Beta lactam antibiotics inhibit the peptidoglycan layer of the bacterial cell wall and because E.coli is a gram negative bacteria, its peptidoglycan layer is easily susceptible to inhibition. pGLO contains fundamental genes that take part in the replication of the plasmid DNA and the expression of its traits. bla (indicated by Amp in Figure A) is a gene that codes for beta lactamase, which is an enzyme that functions to ... In an explication of The Fish from Bedford St. Martin s, the analyzer also notes how the narrator s descriptions yield an ugly appearance of the fish, but with further observation, the narrator realizes the beauty deep within the fish and the fact that the fish is a warrior. The ugly description of the outside of the fish may correlate with how some people tend to make a quick judgment based on someone s appearance without taking the time to think about what their personality or characteristics include. Or even to think about what that person has been through that has caused them to look that way. Evidently, as the poem continues, the narrator reveals that the fish has been through at least five battles, according to the physical scars left in its jaw. The fish, a symbol for anyone who has dealt with difficulties during their life, will persevere even while the outside world continues its routine. The world will never stop for one person or, in this case, an animal from the poem, The Fish. All other people follow through with their daily tasks and the sun still shines in the morning. Comparably, in The Fish, the crickets went on with their chatter and the soft rain incessantly fell on the leaves and in the lake. Although neither of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 14. Gospel Of Luke Research Paper All of the Gospels have a special and important message within them. It is the Gospel of Luke that today s Christians need the most though, due to the message that it holds within it. It seems as though todays Christians seem to have lost the understanding that G d loves everyone and that Jesus came and died for everyone. In the Gospel of Luke, the main focus of it is that Jesus is for everyone. This can be seen in many different aspects of the Gospel, all the way from when Jesus was born in the barn to His resurrection when it was stated that He is the Son of Man (Luke 24:7). Luke was written by a Gentile Christian who intended this Gospel to be read by other Gentile Christians of that time. Just by these two things it can be seen that ... • 15. Milk Curd Mass Lab Report Title Which type of milk produced the greatest amount of curd mass? Purpose The purpose of this lab was to determine which type of milk produced the greatest amount of curd mass. Background Information What is milk curd? Milk curd is a secondary result of the effects of acid and enzymes on milk proteins and lipids. When acid is added to milk, this causes the milk to separate into curds and whey (Suleiman). Cow s milk is made up of 87% water and 13% solids; these solids include minerals, lactose, fats, and proteins. Chemically, these milk proteins are made up of the two main proteins: casein and whey. 3.4% of milk solids contain these two main proteins ( The Chemistry of Milk ). The specific milk protein casein makes up 80% of this composition ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In the Type of Milk vs. Curd Mass lab, it was found that Fairlife Ultra Filtered Milk produced the most amount of curd mass. Because this dairy company Fairlife reconstitutes the composition of the milk after it is pasteurized, this creates a higher ratio of protein to other milk components. The Fairlife Ultra Filtered Milk produced on average 5.6 grams of curd mass. The Whole milk, which was the control, produced on average 3.4 grams of curd mass. Whenever there is a higher amount of protein present in any type of milk, these proteins will denature when mixed with acid and much more curd will be present. This lead to the greatest amount of curd mass in Fairlife Ultra Filtered Milk in comparison to the whole milk, lactose free milk, and organic milk. Works Cited Doucette, Kristin. • 16. A Good Guy With A Gun Wayne LaPierre, an American author and gun rights advocate, once said, The only thing that stops a bad guy with a gun is a good guy with a gun, which is an expression that has no implication with civilians stopping a criminal during a crime scene and is a statement that continues to lead everyone getting hurt in the end. No mass shooting in the past thirty years has been stopped by an armed civilian. A good guy with a gun has never contributed to stopping a felon during a crime scene, so why would people believe that someone with a gun would try to stop someone else with a gun? During a crime scene with an offender threatening people with a gun, a civilian trying to use their gun just makes the situation worse and causes more chaos. A good guy with a gun will not be extremely helpful or effective against a bad guy with a gun, just more pandemonium. Also, when a firearm dealer is selling a gun to a stranger, he does not know whether or not that stranger is a good guy or a bad guy, so what if he was a bad guy? What if that same night, the man he just sold a gun to was going to use that same gun to kill an innocent family in their own home? Right now, there is no effective way for people to know who the bad guy is and who the good guy is, so people just end up selling guns to nearly everyone who can pay for one. Today in United States history, gun control laws are very weak and ineffective in controlling the great harms and dangers than can be caused by guns. Guns lead to ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Because of the many advantages the optical fiber cables and connectors have over the old age traditional coaxial cables that were used in the olden days, fiber cables have outdone the performance the communications industry has ever reached in the past. Optical fiber cable is a cable that contains one or more than one optical fibers. These fibers carry data and information signal in the form of light in them. Fig: An Optical Fiber Cable with many fibers in it which is coated with plastic and encased in tubes Fig: A Connector OPTICAL FIBER CABLES: DESIGN: The basic optical fiber cable consists of a core and a cladding and the refractive indices of the two differ. A substance called Polyimide is coated on the cladding of the fiber which doesn t let the fiber get damaged. Fibers which are bundled together are given a tough resin buffer layer and core tubes extruded around them to the cable core. Many covering layers are also added to the fiber depending upon the application of the fiber. Sometimes, light prohibiting dark glasses are also used between fibers so that light from one fiber doesn t leak and enter another fiber and cause distortion. This also helps in reducing cross talk. For fibers which are meant to be used indoors, the fiber is usually jacketed and enclosed in a flexible strength member in a lightweight plastic tube to form a simple cable. If the cable is meant to be used in an environment in which the fiber can be subjected to stress and strain, the cable construction must be strong and healthy. When the loose tube construction is used, semi rigid tubes are used, and they are laid helically into them. This is done so that the fiber gets space to stretch without causing tension in the cable itself. This way ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Whilst the Second World War had been over for years, war lived in the hearts of the nation. In 1953, Princess Elizabeth became Queen Elizabeth II, the first female monarch in over 50 years and the ever present struggle of being a woman in a world of men is referenced in Arnold Wesker s The Kitchen. A kitchen sink drama play, the issues raised in the play are as relevant today as they were in the 1950s. From abortion to war, and consequently, immigration, Wesker s play managed to merge the beliefs of two completely different generations in one play. David Mathieson states in Radical London in the 1950s, the possibility of Third World War cast a long shadow over the politics of the 1950s . Many of the characters in The Kitchen came to Britain to escape the horrors of war, such as Peter, Paul and Frank. Despite the last major war being finished over a decade previous, there were many wars still being fought across the world with men signing up to them thanks to the National Service. Moreover, due to the wars, a sundry of people came over to Britain for a chance at a better life or at least to make money to send over to families in war torn areas of Europe. The importance of integrity has been stressed since the beginning of time in the Garden of Eden when God told Adam and Eve not to eat the fruit of the tree, but they went against God s command at the words of a convincing serpent. Integrity is a strong theme in medieval times often interwoven in code taken and upheld by the heroes of the time. This code is exhibited in much of the medieval tales in British literature. To have integrity in medieval culture is to follow some moral code defined by the society in which one lived. There is empirical evidence supporting the idea of Gregory, and this comes from a study carried out by Simons and Levin. 50% of the participants failed to realise that there was a switch of people. This is probably due to the fact that the participants had not expected a change of person. Hence, they were unable to perceive it. Furthermore, a study carried out by Selfridge also supports the idea of Gregory. Selfridge s study demonstrates that our perceptions are mediated by our expectations as people are able to read the figures as the cat . This is because people have the expectations of the cat as they are words in common usage. These studies have shown that people saw what they have been ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 38. Horace Mann s The Banking Concept Of Education Education throughout the world is viewed as a privilege. It s a chance for individuals to expand their knowledge. It helps create a successful path for the social and economical structures of a society. Or at least, that s the idea. People like Horace Mann argue that education is , the great equalizer of the conditions of men, making education sound essential and liberating. Others, like Paulo Freire, argue that education is suffering of narration sickness and is in need of a reform because the system is tied to an extensive social structure of oppression. Freire introduces The Banking Concept of Education in which he addresses that the current educational system involves one type of educator; the banking concept teacher. These teachers ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Freire notes , In the banking concept of education, knowledge is a gift bestowed by those who consider themselves knowledgeable upon those whom they consider to know nothing... they never discover that they educate the teacher. He is claiming that the teachers display themselves as the only fountain of knowledge in the classroom, creating oppression and disengagement towards the students because they are led to believe that they can t make any contributions in the classroom. Freire also states that having one educator results in narration sickness because the teacher talks about reality as if it were motionless, static, compartmentalized, and predictable extracting the students from reality. This narration sickness is Freire s problem with the banking concept because he believes it limits the students in believing that they have the power to change their life and social ... • 39. Identifying An Unknown Substance Can Be Accomplished With... Data Analysis Identifying an unknown substance can be accomplished with the use of multiple scientific tests. Conducting these experiments will narrow down the possibilities of the unknown compound. The number of the unknown substance that I was given was A84841BIR, It posed to be a challenge since I needed to test three different molecular combinations for this specific substance. Once the number of moles the in substance was calculated using the ideal gas law, I divided it from the sample mass number. After vaporizing away the unknown compound, I then concluded that the molarity of my unknown chemical was 58.93 g/mol. To find my molecular formula I calculated the mass of each element, then the moles, lastly I took the smallest whole number ratio. Using the molarity calculated I was able to do some research to get a better understanding of what my unknown chemical could be. Once I have collected all my data together and researched the Internet for articles relating to understanding Infa Red spectroscopy, I should be able to make an educated guess upon what my unknown solution could be. The first step was to calculate the molecular formula, using the given masses on the combustion worksheet. Using the ideal gas law, I converted the given grams to moles. The next step was to find out the amount of oxygen in the combustion, then after more calculations, I was able to plug my value into the ideal gas law and find the molecular weight. After calculating the molecular formula I ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
