Persistent Depressive Consorder And Major Depressive...
Persistent depressive disorder and major depressive disorder are unipolar mood disorders. They are
associated with high socio economic burden, according to estimations cost the US over $200 billion
each year (Greenberg et al, 2005 2010), and have high suicide rates (Harris and Barraclough, 1998).
The prevalence of persistent depressive disorder and major depressive disorder are estimated at 3.6 %
and 6.7 % (Waraich et al., 2014). The use of medication and psychotherapy is effective for some
patients, yet about 20% of patients do not benefit from any treatment and, for patients that do respond
to treatment and intervention, there is a high relapse rate. (Gaynes, 2009). Few pharmaceutical
companies are investing in research into ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Clinical research using serotoninergic psychedelics in the treatment of cancer related distress has
demonstrated that participants symptoms improved in: depression, anxiety, fear of death, and quality
of life (Grof et al., 1973; Pahnke et al., 1969; Kast, 1966). Rucker, Jelen, Flynn, Frowde and Young
(2016) conducted a systematic review of the literature on the use of psychedelics in the treatment of
unipolar mood disorders before psychedelics were legally prohibited in the late 1960s. They
conducted a search in the PsycINFO and MEDLINE databases, and after thorough screening and
examination, the authors included 21 studies, published between 1949 and 1973, in their systematic
review. The sample sizes in these studies ranged from 5 to 77, whereas the total sample size across all
of the studies was 423 (where it was possible to estimate). The therapeutic paradigms were varied in
each of the studies and they employed a range of 1 to 58 sessions with psychedelics. The psychedelic
drugs used in these studies were LSD and mescaline in addition to LSD, and the dosages used were
varied. The absence of studies that used psilocybin as the psychedelic compound is likely because
psilocybin was not isolated and marketed until after 1959, whereas LSD was an established
pharmaceutical entity by that time (Hofman et al., 1959). However, modern clinical trials have favored
the use of psilocybin over LSD for a

Write An Essay On Water Erosion
Water Erosion
Background
Erosion is the wearing away of sand soil or rock by water, or wind. Water erosion is the separation and
removal of soil. Water erosion occurs by rain carrying away bits of soil and slowly washing away rock
fragments (Society). Rushing streams and rivers wear away their banks, creating larger and larger
valleys. Water erosion can occur on streams, river banks, sea shores and seaside cliffs. There are also
different types of water erosion like sheet erosion. Sheet erosion is when water washes away soil from
the surface. Another type of water erosion is splash erosion. Splash erosion is the movement of soil by
a water droplet. Water erosion occurs more frequently in the spring because it rains more, the rain then
washes away rock fragments. An example of water erosion is the colorado river. It cut deep into the
land and formed the grand canyon.
Purpose
The purpose of this experiment is to examine the impact of water erosion on soil due to splash erosion.
Hypothesis
If the height of the water increases then the amount of soil erosion will increase because the speed of
the water will create more pressure on the soil causing the soil to move further.
Procedure
Get a 600mL beaker and measure out 500mL of soil
Grab a tray and place the soil on the tray. Flip the beaker upside down on the tray and remove the
beaker so that there is a pile of dirt on the tray.
Measure the height of the dirt. It should be 2 inches tall.
Grab a 250 mL graduated cylinder

Explore American Art History
How to explore the history of American through the art?
Films and books break the limit of time to be the common way to explore the history of American for
people. Indeed, visiting the famous museum and watching popular historical operas also are two of the
most effective approaches to explore the development of America. Famous museums generally
preserve a large amounts of artworks which are historical and precious to remind people. In my
opinion, Boston s MFA is a good choice to explore the history of America because it is located in the
center of American revolution and it is considered to be the most decisive change. Thus, people are
able to realize what is American about American history through the art.
The perception of the art of Americas ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
According to the American history, American artists had evolved their own American style to paint
portraits and landscape, and almost had separated from English traditions in the late 18th century. This
century for America undoubtedly is the transition from colonial country to power after went through
many vital incidents such as American civil war, American Reconstruction, Abolition movement, and
Industrial Revolution . Dating back to the late 18th century, America had improved their system to be
relatively wealthy and to be a stable country. In addition, artistic representation that portray religious,
racial, gender, political, class and other perspectives continue to serve as unique historical documents
to help people better understand as well as see the world through the artist s eyes. ( Edell Fiedler)
Hence, the formation of unique American art style cannot without other country s inspirations of art
after went through many artistic struggle. That s the reason why that colonial American art to be an
inseparable part of American art.

Oculocutaneous Albinism (OCA)
Oculocutaneous albinism or OCA is a set of four (or seven, including subdivisions) rare genetic
disorders that are caused by mutations in up to seven different genes and are characterized by a
complete lack or reduction of the pigment melanin in the eyes, hair, and skin. An estimated 1 in
20,000 people worldwide are born with this disorder. The conditions of OCA are caused by mutations
in genes that are responsible and necessary for producing the melanin pigment in specialized cells
(melanocytes). Not having enough of the melanin pigment can result in abnormal eye development,
resulting in vision problems, and light skin that is easily damaged by the sun, at times resulting in
different skin cancers, including an aggressive form called melanoma. Symptoms of this condition can
also include nystagmus (involuntary back and forth movement of eyes), iris transillumination (reduced
pigment in iris), reduced pigment in the retina, macular hypoplasia (poor development of the macula,
resulting in abnormal foveal development in the retina), generally poor visual sharpness, photophobia
(increased sensitivity to light), and strabismus (abnormal connection of the nerves from retina to brain,

The four main types of oculocutaneous albinism manifest differently in individuals. For example,
OCA1 is characterized by white hair, pale skin, and light colored eyes, and is caused by null mutations
of tyrosinase (TYR a protein coding gene) that end up making a completely inactive or unfinished
tyrosinase enzyme polypeptide. OCA2, the most common type of albinism, is caused by a mutation in
the P gene and is typically less severe than Type 1; the skin can be creamy white and the hair may be
blonde, yellow, or a

Class Inequality And The American Class
A response to Class in America 2009 makes some good points why Americans hate the word class.
Class is a word to classify a group of people to a certain social status. Americans do not like to be put
in a category based off of their money. Gregory Mantsios the author, explains how we view ourselves.
For example, most American citizens identify themselves with work. Mantsios gives other reasons,
and a solution to fix the American class labeling. Mantsios made some really good points about how
Americas view word class, and made me agree with some of his myth. He also presented a weak
solution that would go against our government to fix the problem of class in America. Class in
America by Gregory Mantsios is a profile of class inequality in today s society in America. He begins
by mentioning that people in America, rich or poor, do not seem to talk about class or class
differences. He says that is why classes divide. He mentions myths most Americans believe that this
country is classless, and full of equal opportunity, and replaces them with realities. These realities are
that class inequality is not pretty bad but getting worse. Emphasized by profiles of citizens of various
classes. He concludes that the main problems are capitalism, racism, and androcentric, and the
solution is redistribution of wealth. Mantsios says, Workers are most likely to identify with their
employer, industry, or occupational group (177). When you ask most people what they do for a living

The CIA had these files in order to keep tabs on the Chilean government. The United States had allied
them with Pinochet s government, however, they soon got reports of human rights violations and so

organisational structure of the DINA and the function of each branch back to the CIA headquarters.
Being written in the midst of the DINA s peak it allows one to see the structure in which things thrived
for the secret police. Not only does it show the structure but the positions and branches within the

Democratization Of Latin America And Eastern Europe
1. Despite the democratization movements in Latin America and Eastern Europe in 1980s and 90s,
Middle Eastern authoritarian regimes proved to be resilient. Despite the recent Arab Spring protests,
most Middle Eastern nations live under authoritarian regimes. How do these authoritarian regimes
survive for so long? What are the factors that contribute to their longevity?
Most Eastern European countries that were part of the Eastern bloc, after the fall of the Berlin Wall
began the transition process started by the changes in social system and started to connect into the
European Union. Although some of these states essentially have not changed, however, public
discourse is certainly different, the market has been liberalized, and states such as Romania and
Bulgaria are even members of the European Union.
In the Middle East the situation is totally different. Rulers of the dynasties, kings, in this part of the
world ruled for decades and there are no indications that the situation might change. Some of them not
even the Arab spring (which was simulated process of social change) has managed to waver. This
primarily refers to the rulers of Saudi Arabia, Qatar and the Emirates.
The question is what are the factors that influence both durable and firm power? The first reason is
certainly an authoritative stance that rulers occupy which is almost the dictatorship and sometimes
even exceeds borders of the dictatorship. We only have to remember the massacre in Hama, Syria in
1982.

Beowulf Values
Beowulf, translated by Seamus Heaney, is an oral story about a Norse hero. Beowulf is a pagan story
with Christian influences. This story takes place in the Norse kingdoms of Denmark, and Sweden. The
basic Viking tenants included courage (2), and greatness (2). However, there are values that are
displayed by people who are greater than the common man. These values include being prudent (19),
and being a good leader. In Norse culture, honor is a key aspect in defining a person s status in a
kingdom. Honor is defined by one s respect, wealth and power. The primary Norse traditions are
funerals (burning a ship), sailing, being a warrior, and giving gifts as sign of respect and peace. In
several instances, there is a threat to civilization, or society. In most of these cases, a glorious hero
saves the day. Beowulf is this hero. Beowulf arrives in Heorot hall to maintain order, in order to gain
glory, and save the Danes. However, these heroes do not last forever. Beowulf s downfall occurs
because he did not listen to Hrothgar s advice, he was a good king; but his followers did not come to
his aid, and his actions, attitudes and beliefs. Hrothgar s advice is composed of two different aspects:
one being mindful of the fragility of live, and the second being mindful of the dangers in power. No
life is immune to danger; Hrothgar s experience proves this. Hrothgar states I ruled the Ring Danes
country for fifty years, defending them in wartime (1769 1770) until Grendel

Germany also had to accept blame for starting the war and pay for all the damage of the war. This was
in the amount of £ 6,600 million. I do not feel that this ultimately reinforced the conditions from
before the war. Before the war, Germany was strong and wanted to be stronger. After the treaty, they
were left in a position that they would not recover from. WWII consisted of many events that
increased tensions between the East and the West. The two main countries were the United States and
the Soviet Union. The allies (the western powers) and the Soviet Union had an alliance during the
second war. When the war ended the alliance began to get frayed at the edges. At the end of the war
most of Europe was occupied by four countries. The United States and the Soviet Union had the most
powerful military forces. The Cold War got its name because neither the United States nor the Soviet
Union wanted to openly fight each other and they were afraid of each other s power. Communism
came to the Soviet Union in 1918. The United States didn t trust the communist. Communism s goal
was to bring down capitalism in any way possible. When Stalin came into power in 1924, the US
mistrusted him even more. During this time, Germany was in the process of building itself up. Stalin
was concerned that Russia would be attacked and the US was concerned watching Hitler spread his
rule. Hitler had grown up in a strong Germany and he wanted to restore his country to that

Ezra Durkheim s The Division Of Labor In Society
Men must not cut down trees. There is a God. Change the world. No one kills from hatred.1 These are
the words that Septimus mutters to himself while trying to embrace the traumatic experiences of war.
However, after over a century from WWI, significant majority of the world is a participator in some
form of a deadly conflict. According to Durkheim in The Division of Labor in Society, the process of
creating a developed society brings a pathological side effect of chaos and disorder. From that
perspective, the act of making the world modern is nothing else but making it more disturbed and
filled with conflict. Along with rapid social and cultural changes around the world, the concept of
modernity is no longer a form of improvement, but ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The society, experienced by the events in the past, is strongly convinced of the stagnation within the
social structures. The possibility of social growth is compared by Ezra to the lottery, a change one can
only dream of. The powerful proof of such social incapability to improve is offered by Du Bois.
Despite decades, the negligence of education among black communities is still as relevant as it was in
1903.4 This indicates that modernity, despite bringing radical and volatile changes, to a large extent
does not change the social hierarchy of the communities. This points to Freud s argument on
disillusionment. The society, in wake of worsening conditions, stops believing in moral and ethical
values.5 Hence, the lottery of social upgrade remains a dream nobody truly believes

The attack into Mashonaland, by 1893 failed, due to not finding the minerals they were searching for,
so they extended the area of colonization into the land of Matabeleland, attacking the Ndebele people
and defeated them later that year. However, the people were not completely defeated like they thought,
thus starting to fight back in 1896 ( The History of Zimbabwe ). The goal of the people was to destroy
the white power the BSAC had when they invaded them. This uprising was the most violent and
organized, killing 10% of the white colonizers. Following, there became reserved black areas, which
became heavily controlled so the whites were forbidden ( History of Colonialism in Rhodesia. ).
However, it didn t last long. In 1898, the region became known as a colony, Rhodesia, after the
enforcement of the Rhodesia Order in Council, governed by BSAC until 1923. The enforcement of
this consisted of giving the white settler community land segregation, segregated governance, and
political and economic privileges, which increased the separation of races. The goal of this was able to
rule the Shona and Ndebele people, without causing another uprising ( The History of Zimbabwe ).
After this Order in Council, the United Kingdom took over in place of the British.

Examples Of Editing In Run Lola Run
The 1998 German film Run Lola Run interestingly told three separate narratives of the same story and
characters. Each of the narratives began the same way, however each one saw a slight temporal or
behavioral difference in the lives of Lola and Manni, which caused drastically different outcomes for
each of the separate realities. The film followed Lola and Manni s journey to acquire one hundred
thousand dollars to make up for Manni s loss of the money to his drug dealer. The same story was told
three separate times, and each story illustrated slight changes in the characters timelines that
drastically shifted the outcome of their situations. Through the use of editing, the film was able to
jump through time and space and clearly portray the transition from one run to the next. The film also
had a fast rhythm that captured the frantic nature and peril of Lola and Manni s situation, with
innovative editing techniques such as showing the two shots of Manni and Lola side by side.
Altogether, the transitions were effective in telling the story with a unique, and clear sequencing
pattern that made sense and contributed to the thrilling atmosphere of the film. Editing determines the
duration of a shot and Run Lola Run illustrated several types of editing including freeze frames, jump
cuts, and dissolve cuts that allowed ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

editing exemplified this through the proximity of the shots being directly next to each other, yet still
being separate. The splicing of the scenes proved an innovative technique of editing in Run Lola

Labor Unions in the Late 1800 s Essay
Labor Unions in the Late 1800 s
Labor unions in the late 1800 s set out to improve the lives of frequently abused workers. Volatile
issues like the eight hour workday, ridiculously low pay and unfair company town practices were
often the fuses that lit explosive conflicts between unions and monopolistic industrialists. Some of the
most violent and important conflicts of the time were the Haymarket Affair and the Pullman strike.
Each set out to with similar goals and both ended with horrifying consequences. The movement for
the eight hour workday was one of the most violent struggles for laborers. Their struggle is defined by
protests that were broken up by the police and the Pinkertons. The Pinkertons were a mercenary police

Many homes, meeting halls, and offices where outspoken supporters of the eight hour movement lived
and worked were raided without warrant. Oscar Neebe, Adolph Fisher, August Spies, Louis Lingg,
Michael Schwab, Samuel Fielden, Carl Engel, and Albert Parsons were charged with the trumped up
charge of accessory to murder for the riot. They were all brought to trial, even though many of the
men were not even at Haymarket Square at the time of the melee.
With a jury of twelve men found all of the defendants guilty. After an appeal to the Supreme Court,
Spies, Parsons, Fischer and Engel were sentenced to hang. Neebe, Fielden and Schwab were given life
sentences. Louis Lingg most likely would have served a life sentence as well, however, he committed
suicide.

Eco-feminism Essay
Today, we live in a world interwoven with women s oppression, ecological degradation, and the
exploitation of workers, race, and class. In the midst of these troubles, a movement known as
ecofeminism appears to be gaining recognition. In the following, I hope to illustrate this revitalization
movement . I will begin by characterizing a definition of ecofeminism; I will then bring to the
forefront the ethical issues that Ecofeminism is involved with, then distinguish primary ideas and
criticisms.
Though in theory, ecological feminism has been around for a number of years, it emerged as a
political movement in the 1970s. Francoise d Eaubonne, a French feminist philosopher, coined the
term Ecofeminism in 1974. Ecofeminism is a feminist ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

rather paradoxical that nature can exist and has existed without humans, but humans cannot exist

of how Loretta Lynn became the the queen of country and does a wonderful job. It shows the
hardships and glories that come with being in the spotlight as well as the struggle of maintaining a
relationship with her husband and family. In able to tell a great story, it depends on the work that is put

creatively. Parts of Coal Miner s Daughter that helped to make it a great film are art direction,
costumes, makeup, visual effects, sound design, editing, music, script, performance, direction, scene
analysis, and historical analysis. All these elements of the film combined help make Coal Miner s
Daughter an exceptional and intriguing film. If even one of these elements of film were lacking the

Saturday Climbing by W.D. Valgardson the protagonists Alice and Barry both have struggles with the
major changes happening in their life. Throughout their stories, they become less pessimistic, they
adress their problems and they gain a newfound confidence and trust in others. Change can be
extremely difficult, but its a necessary step towards a positive life.
In both stories, the protagonists show fear towards changes which are occurring in their lives. Barry
from Saturday Climbing has a pessimistic attitude about his daughters plans to move away for her post
secondary education. This is because he leads a plain life for them both in order to keep his daughter
safe. He did his best to keep life simple and uncomplicated. It was, he thought, the way to provide her
with security (20). His fear comes from the idea that he will have no way of keeping her safe if she is
away, on her own. Alice from Mirror Image also has fear and a sense of denial, though this stems from
undergoing a brain transplant. While looking in her hand mirror she said to herself Just you, Alice... ...

When Barry found himself struggling to fully trust his daughter, he reminded himself of a quote a
student was told him: the world seeks balance (27). He allowed his daughter to become more
independant because of that quote, causing their relationship to grow stronger. Alice neeeded
validation that she was still herself, though she was in a different body. I ll tell her I looked into your
eyes and that i didn t see my daughter (6). When Alice saw her body donor s father, he didn t
recognize her. This gave her validation that even though she didn t appear the same, she still was her

Sociological Imagination In The Military
The sociological imagination is to think of society from a different perspective and as an individual to
take a step back and think how a situation affects the bigger picture. One of the biggest concerns in
today s military is fear of retaliation from supervisors after an individual reports sexual assault. Within
the U.S. Military there have been policies put in place such as the whistleblower protection act, but as
we all know when there comes change individuals refuse to comply. Civilians expect that U.S.
Military members act in a more professional manner due to the higher standards then the general
population.
To start off there is absolutely no protection for members who have been sexually assaulted. Just like
any other civilian, service members have a job to go to and perform. Service members are evaluated
based on their job performance, the last concern they need to be worried about is fear of going to work
and being scrutinized by their peers including their boss. Victims that experience sexual assault are
more likely to be discharged from the military than their assailants. ... Show more content on

It also depends on what your work setting is and who is enforcing the guidelines set in place. That
starts from the top of the chain of command and carries down to the lower ranking service members.
The best way to put it is to think about your own family and how you would like it if somebody was
harassing your wife or husband. It all starts with being a leader and having the courage to step up, and
also those around will start to follow your lead. Don Christensen, president of protect our defenders
makes a valid point when he says When no one is held accountable for retaliation, it creates a hostile
environment for all survivors, and sends a message to criminals that they can act with

Clara Barton and The American Red Cross
The American Red Cross (ARC) Clara Barton founded the American Red Cross after becoming
involved in the work of the International Red Cross during the Franco Prussian War. Her heart of
giving and helping others convinced her that an American chapter was needed in her country in 1881.
The ARC is a humanitarian organization that is dependent on the contributions of time, blood, and
money from the American public to support its multiple lifesaving services and programs. The ARC s
mission is to prevent and alleviate human suffering in the face of emergencies by mobilizing the
power of volunteers and the generosity of donors. The ARC from its humble beginnings and up to

The leader needs to instill urgency into the workers and volunteers of the ARC. Taking an organization
that s on its knees requires great cooperation, initiative, and willingness to make sacrifices from many
people (Kotter, 2011). Based on the case study, the ARC lacks all these characteristics for change to
occur. It needs to look how to improve its response times, how to become more efficient in collecting
denotations and how to prioritize and quickly distribute the donations it receives in a fair and efficient
manner. It needs to hold its leaders to a higher standard that will instill a culture of high moral
standard in its employees and volunteers. Once the nation sees a change in the behavior of the ARC
they will be more willing to give donations and their time to support disaster relief efforts. The Role
Stakeholder Orientation Played in the Scenario It is vital that every organization is able to accurately
identify their stakeholders, whether it is a for profit or a non profit organization. One of the most
important reasons for identifying and understanding stakeholders is that it allows the organization to
recruit them as part of their efforts and learn firsthand on their needs and requirements (Rabinowitz,
2014). We live in an uncertain world where

The Adventures Of Huckleberry Finn Satire Analysis
In Mark Twain s The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn , Twain uses satire to criticize many aspects of
American society. His first use of satire may be overlooked by many. Twain s decision to set the novel
in a time where slavery was allowed, despite the book being published in 1959, is one of his ways of
making fun of American society. This detail mocks how little progress the United States made with
civil rights in the century. Twain continues to mock ideals such as religion, family feuds, and greed, all
of which were engrained in American society during his life time. One of the first characters that are
introduced in the novel are Miss. Watson and Widow Douglas. Both women are portrayed and
described as proper Christians, despite the fact that they own slaves. According to the bible, anyone
who kidnaps someone is to be put to death, whether the victim has been sold or is still in the kidnapper
s possession (Exodus 21:16). Disciples in the New Testament also spoke out against slavery in their
testaments. Despite this, the women continue to own and sell slaves. By portraying Christians in this
light, Twain mocks the religion as hypocritical. The escaped slave, Jim, also serves as a mockery of
religion. Jim is known to believe in almost all superstations. In the beginning of the novel, Jim is able

Bassae, which was known as Vasses in ancient times was home to numerous temples. Within the
mountains these temples rose up from the natural formations creating a new impressive landscape.
This natural sanctuary soon became one of the greatest religious centers of the entire Hellenic World
(Greek National Tourism Association). The temples that remain stand as a reminder of the importance
of god and goddess to the people of ancient times. The belief that each helped to provide for the
welfare of communities. They are architerual masterpieces that need to be saved. People should work
to save them and keep them all their treasures in tact. In what was this landscape of temples was the

the god of truth and of light. The most important task that Apollo had was to harness the sun to his
four horse chariot, and daily move the sun across the sky (Greek Mythology). It was built in the
middle of the 5th century B.C., and it was not the first temple to stand in its spot. During an
excavation it was found that the Temple had reused blocks from a previous temple. There have also
been artifacts discovered from the 7th, 6th, and 5th centuries. Votive offerings from as far back as
Geometric times have been found. The temple was constructed by the Greek architect Ictinus. The

Intellectual Property Laws Of Australia Essay
Intellectual property is a broad term that is used to refer to the rights that the owner of an invention or
an artwork enjoys. An example of intellectual property law is the Trade Related Aspect of Intellectual
Property Rights (TRIPs), which gives individual rights such as patent, designs, and trademark.
Intellectual property is contained in the Article 2(viii) of the convention, which led the establishment
of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO). Literary works, inventions, discoveries,
trademarks, and industrial designs are among the rights that are provided in WIPO. Intellectual
property in Australia has a strong judicial support.
Introduction An effective system of intellectual property is important in facilitating innovation as well
as economic growth within a country and across all its borders (Davidson, Monoti, Wiseman, 2012).
The current global economy is concentrating more in the invention of ideas that are original, other
than in manufacturing of machines. To enhance and protect these ideas, there ought to be effective
intellectual property laws. The government of Australia has prioritized the protection of original ideas
from individuals through copyright, patent, and trademarks among other intelligent property laws,
which give the inventor a temporary period to enjoy the financial benefits of his or her original idea.
The major purposes of intellectual property laws can be contested; therefore, they create areas of

For methodology, it was fortunate that I got the opportunity to join the Directed Reading Program on
statistical methods, ranking soccer teams in cooperation with Dr. Steve. Because outcomes involving
multiple categories occur more often, we wanted to compare and improve existing ranking methods,
and made them suitable for more classifications. For example, primarily, there was only one
classification: scores. To advance, currently, classification of yardages would also be considered when
ranking. After collecting unstructured data online, we used least squares to get the squared matrix for
Massey s Method but found it failed to cover multiple categories simultaneously. After research and
comparison of other methods, we found that Markov Method succeeded because the weights can be
assigned to eigenvectors of normalized stochastic matrices. Since we have found the desired method,
we reached the agreement that the comparison between the two methods was consequential here. The
results by using the two methods of ranking the same set of scores were different. Therefore, on the
seminar, I concluded that Markov methods outperformed Massey s Method in the research, but further
research suggests that Massey s Methods have a better performance under some circumstances. It is
the charisma of data science that analysts should adjust measures to local situations. During the
research, MATLAB dominated to produce outcomes. However, it functions more on mathematical

New Mission Statement And Vision Statement
New mission statement and vision statement analysis As a result of recent security breach of the
Baltimore City Government, Cyber Software Inc. feels required to introduce a new mission and vision
statement that stimulate confidence on the company s ability to combat cyberattacks on our customers
networks. Cyber Software s new vision statement and mission statement demonstrates the company s
commitment to deliver a highly efficient cybersecurity software. The new mission statement also
highlights the approach that the company will take in order to achieve this new level of proficiency.
Due to increasing internal conflicts among programmers, the new mission statement also accentuates
the organization s concern toward its employees. Cyber Software s intend to restructure its
organization will be facilitated only if its current mission and vision statement are change. The
organization will go through a transformation that unless the company presents a well defined mission
and vision statement, some employees might even resist changes which will translate into wasted time
and resources. Cyber Software, Inc. Panning phase In an era where crime against an organization can
be carried out from across the globe; it is important to plan for the unexpected (Federal
Communication Commission, n.d., p. 5). This became more evident when cyber thieves perpetrated an
attack against Baltimore City Government. Cyber Software Inc. currently operates three divisions; the

Realism In Life In The Iron Mills
Life in the Iron Mills is a novella that is hard to classify as a specific genre. The genre that fits the
most into this novella is realism, because of the separation of classes, the hard work that a person has
to put into their every day life to try and make a difference, and the way society influences the actions
of people and their relationships. However, no matter what genre is specifically chosen, there will be
other genres present that contradict the genre of choice. While the novella shows romanticism,
naturalism, and realism, this essay is specifically centered around realism. The ultimate theme in

She continues on to describe that the mill is divided into by shifts, a group of workers come in for a
while and work, and then another group comes in and relieves that group. The point of this quote is to
demonstrate that many people are unaware of what really goes on inside the mill, even though they
live in a manufacturing town. Davis goes into detail about what the mill is like. Fire in every horrible
form: pits of flame waving in the wind: liquid metal flames writhing in tortuous streams through the
sand; wide caldrons filled with boiling fire, over which bent ghastly wretches stirring the strange
brewing; and through all, crowds of half clad man, looking like revengeful ghosts in the red light,
hurried, throwing masses of glittering fire. It was like a street in Hell. (Davis 1225) It is important to
remember that the novella shows realism, but it also has a case of romanticism that backs up the
realism efforts. The romanticism is displayed through her descriptive view of the Mill, where most
that live in the manufacturing town do not realize how strenuous and horrid the working conditions
are like.
Hugh and Deborah have an interesting relationship, because of their interesting relationship it
exemplifies realism perfectly. Their relationship could be seen as a one sided deal, because of the way
Deb feels for Hugh, she is willing to do whatever she can to make him happy, even if that means
bringing him

GEICO Argumentative Essay
In car enthusiast magazine Motor Trend, car insurance company GEICO featured a full page ad. The
ad juxtaposes two sets of chicken wings: the left set contains multiple pieces of chicken, while the
right contains only one. Under the wings, the texts clarify the visual. The number of wings in each pile
represents the positive characteristics of car insurance companies, and GEICO is on the left. In other
words, the chicken wings illustrate how GEICO offers more benefits than competing car insurance
companies. Overall, the advertisement successfully attracts attention and offers a convincing argument
for switching to GEICO through an enticing visual and a strong appeal to logic.
Occupying nearly half the ad, the chicken wings are an appropriate

New York University-Personal Narrative
The cold early morning December breeze nipped the tip of my nose fiercely, as I stepped out of my
tiny 2003 black jeep wrangler. I swiftly made my way to the top of the steps leading up to the entrance
of New York University. Despite the frigidness of the weather my palms were still sweaty and sticky
due to the nervousness that starting college in the middle of the school year was bringing me. As I
reached the doors to the main front office I breathed in heavily through my nose, and gently out
through my mouth.
Breath, Dallas. My words shaking. You ve rehearsed this about three billion times.
My fingers curled around the handle and I pulled the door open slightly then all at once. The cozy

  • 2. Persistent Depressive Consorder And Major Depressive... Persistent depressive disorder and major depressive disorder are unipolar mood disorders. They are associated with high socio economic burden, according to estimations cost the US over $200 billion each year (Greenberg et al, 2005 2010), and have high suicide rates (Harris and Barraclough, 1998). The prevalence of persistent depressive disorder and major depressive disorder are estimated at 3.6 % and 6.7 % (Waraich et al., 2014). The use of medication and psychotherapy is effective for some patients, yet about 20% of patients do not benefit from any treatment and, for patients that do respond to treatment and intervention, there is a high relapse rate. Clinical research using serotoninergic psychedelics in the treatment of cancer related distress has demonstrated that participants symptoms improved in: depression, anxiety, fear of death, and quality of life (Grof et al., 1973; Pahnke et al., 1969; Kast, 1966). Rucker, Jelen, Flynn, Frowde and Young (2016) conducted a systematic review of the literature on the use of psychedelics in the treatment of unipolar mood disorders before psychedelics were legally prohibited in the late 1960s. They conducted a search in the PsycINFO and MEDLINE databases, and after thorough screening and examination, the authors included 21 studies, published between 1949 and 1973, in their systematic review. The sample sizes in these studies ranged from 5 to 77, whereas the total sample size across all of the studies was 423 (where it was possible to estimate). The therapeutic paradigms were varied in each of the studies and they employed a range of 1 to 58 sessions with psychedelics. The psychedelic drugs used in these studies were LSD and mescaline in addition to LSD, and the dosages used were varied. The absence of studies that used psilocybin as the psychedelic compound is likely because psilocybin was not isolated and marketed until after 1959, whereas LSD was an established pharmaceutical entity by that time (Hofman et al., 1959). However, modern clinical trials have favored the use of psilocybin over LSD for a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Write An Essay On Water Erosion Water Erosion Background Erosion is the wearing away of sand soil or rock by water, or wind. Water erosion is the separation and removal of soil. Water erosion occurs by rain carrying away bits of soil and slowly washing away rock fragments (Society). Rushing streams and rivers wear away their banks, creating larger and larger valleys. Water erosion can occur on streams, river banks, sea shores and seaside cliffs. There are also different types of water erosion like sheet erosion. Sheet erosion is when water washes away soil from the surface. Another type of water erosion is splash erosion. Splash erosion is the movement of soil by a water droplet. Water erosion occurs more frequently in the spring because it rains more, the rain then washes away rock fragments. An example of water erosion is the colorado river. It cut deep into the land and formed the grand canyon. Purpose The purpose of this experiment is to examine the impact of water erosion on soil due to splash erosion. Hypothesis If the height of the water increases then the amount of soil erosion will increase because the speed of the water will create more pressure on the soil causing the soil to move further. Procedure Get a 600mL beaker and measure out 500mL of soil Grab a tray and place the soil on the tray. Flip the beaker upside down on the tray and remove the beaker so that there is a pile of dirt on the tray. Measure the height of the dirt. It should be 2 inches tall. Indeed, visiting the famous museum and watching popular historical operas also are two of the most effective approaches to explore the development of America. Famous museums generally preserve a large amounts of artworks which are historical and precious to remind people. In my opinion, Boston s MFA is a good choice to explore the history of America because it is located in the center of American revolution and it is considered to be the most decisive change. • 6. Oculocutaneous Albinism (OCA) Oculocutaneous albinism or OCA is a set of four (or seven, including subdivisions) rare genetic disorders that are caused by mutations in up to seven different genes and are characterized by a complete lack or reduction of the pigment melanin in the eyes, hair, and skin. An estimated 1 in 20,000 people worldwide are born with this disorder. The conditions of OCA are caused by mutations in genes that are responsible and necessary for producing the melanin pigment in specialized cells (melanocytes). Not having enough of the melanin pigment can result in abnormal eye development, resulting in vision problems, and light skin that is easily damaged by the sun, at times resulting in different skin cancers, including an aggressive form called melanoma. Symptoms of this condition can also include nystagmus (involuntary back and forth movement of eyes), iris transillumination (reduced pigment in iris), reduced pigment in the retina, macular hypoplasia (poor development of the macula, resulting in abnormal foveal development in the retina), generally poor visual sharpness, photophobia (increased sensitivity to light), and strabismus (abnormal connection of the nerves from retina to brain, keeping the eyes from tracking ... • 7. Class Inequality And The American Class A response to Class in America 2009 makes some good points why Americans hate the word class. Class is a word to classify a group of people to a certain social status. Americans do not like to be put in a category based off of their money. Gregory Mantsios the author, explains how we view ourselves. For example, most American citizens identify themselves with work. Mantsios gives other reasons, and a solution to fix the American class labeling. Mantsios made some really good points about how Americas view word class, and made me agree with some of his myth. He also presented a weak solution that would go against our government to fix the problem of class in America. Class in America by Gregory Mantsios is a profile of class inequality in today s society in America. He begins by mentioning that people in America, rich or poor, do not seem to talk about class or class differences. He says that is why classes divide. He mentions myths most Americans believe that this country is classless, and full of equal opportunity, and replaces them with realities. These realities are that class inequality is not pretty bad but getting worse. Emphasized by profiles of citizens of various classes. He concludes that the main problems are capitalism, racism, and androcentric, and the solution is redistribution of wealth. Mantsios says, Workers are most likely to identify with their employer, industry, or occupational group (177). When you ask most people what they do for a living they ... • 9. Democratization Of Latin America And Eastern Europe 1. Despite the democratization movements in Latin America and Eastern Europe in 1980s and 90s, Middle Eastern authoritarian regimes proved to be resilient. Despite the recent Arab Spring protests, most Middle Eastern nations live under authoritarian regimes. How do these authoritarian regimes survive for so long? What are the factors that contribute to their longevity? Most Eastern European countries that were part of the Eastern bloc, after the fall of the Berlin Wall began the transition process started by the changes in social system and started to connect into the European Union. Although some of these states essentially have not changed, however, public discourse is certainly different, the market has been liberalized, and states such as Romania and Bulgaria are even members of the European Union. In the Middle East the situation is totally different. Rulers of the dynasties, kings, in this part of the world ruled for decades and there are no indications that the situation might change. Some of them not even the Arab spring (which was simulated process of social change) has managed to waver. This primarily refers to the rulers of Saudi Arabia, Qatar and the Emirates. The question is what are the factors that influence both durable and firm power? The first reason is certainly an authoritative stance that rulers occupy which is almost the dictatorship and sometimes even exceeds borders of the dictatorship. • 10. Beowulf Values Beowulf, translated by Seamus Heaney, is an oral story about a Norse hero. Beowulf is a pagan story with Christian influences. This story takes place in the Norse kingdoms of Denmark, and Sweden. The basic Viking tenants included courage (2), and greatness (2). However, there are values that are displayed by people who are greater than the common man. These values include being prudent (19), and being a good leader. In Norse culture, honor is a key aspect in defining a person s status in a kingdom. Honor is defined by one s respect, wealth and power. The primary Norse traditions are funerals (burning a ship), sailing, being a warrior, and giving gifts as sign of respect and peace. In several instances, there is a threat to civilization, or society. In most of these cases, a glorious hero saves the day. Beowulf is this hero. Beowulf arrives in Heorot hall to maintain order, in order to gain glory, and save the Danes. However, these heroes do not last forever. Beowulf s downfall occurs because he did not listen to Hrothgar s advice, he was a good king; but his followers did not come to his aid, and his actions, attitudes and beliefs. Hrothgar s advice is composed of two different aspects: one being mindful of the fragility of live, and the second being mindful of the dangers in power. No life is immune to danger; Hrothgar s experience proves this. Hrothgar states I ruled the Ring Danes country for fifty years, defending them in wartime (1769 1770) until Grendel ... Each of the narratives began the same way, however each one saw a slight temporal or behavioral difference in the lives of Lola and Manni, which caused drastically different outcomes for each of the separate realities. The film followed Lola and Manni s journey to acquire one hundred thousand dollars to make up for Manni s loss of the money to his drug dealer. The same story was told three separate times, and each story illustrated slight changes in the characters timelines that drastically shifted the outcome of their situations. Through the use of editing, the film was able to jump through time and space and clearly portray the transition from one run to the next. The film also had a fast rhythm that captured the frantic nature and peril of Lola and Manni s situation, with innovative editing techniques such as showing the two shots of Manni and Lola side by side. • 21. Alice And Barry Face What would life be like if people didn t undergo change? Many opportunities happen in life because of adjustments people make for themselves. In the short stories Mirror Image by Lena Coakley and Saturday Climbing by W.D. Valgardson the protagonists Alice and Barry both have struggles with the major changes happening in their life. Throughout their stories, they become less pessimistic, they adress their problems and they gain a newfound confidence and trust in others. Change can be extremely difficult, but its a necessary step towards a positive life. In both stories, the protagonists show fear towards changes which are occurring in their lives. Barry from Saturday Climbing has a pessimistic attitude about his daughters plans to move away for her post secondary education. This is because he leads a plain life for them both in order to keep his daughter safe. He did his best to keep life simple and uncomplicated. It was, he thought, the way to provide her with security (20). His fear comes from the idea that he will have no way of keeping her safe if she is away, on her own. • 22. Sociological Imagination In The Military The sociological imagination is to think of society from a different perspective and as an individual to take a step back and think how a situation affects the bigger picture. One of the biggest concerns in today s military is fear of retaliation from supervisors after an individual reports sexual assault. Within the U.S. Military there have been policies put in place such as the whistleblower protection act, but as we all know when there comes change individuals refuse to comply. Civilians expect that U.S. Military members act in a more professional manner due to the higher standards then the general population. To start off there is absolutely no protection for members who have been sexually assaulted. Just like any other civilian, service members have a job to go to and perform. Service members are evaluated based on their job performance, the last concern they need to be worried about is fear of going to work and being scrutinized by their peers including their boss. Victims that experience sexual assault are more likely to be discharged from the military than their assailants. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... It all starts with being a leader and having the courage to step up, and also those around will start to follow your lead. • 26. The Adventures Of Huckleberry Finn Satire Analysis In Mark Twain s The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn , Twain uses satire to criticize many aspects of American society. His first use of satire may be overlooked by many. Twain s decision to set the novel in a time where slavery was allowed, despite the book being published in 1959, is one of his ways of making fun of American society. This detail mocks how little progress the United States made with civil rights in the century. Twain continues to mock ideals such as religion, family feuds, and greed, all of which were engrained in American society during his life time. One of the first characters that are introduced in the novel are Miss. Watson and Widow Douglas. Both women are portrayed and described as proper Christians, despite the fact that they own slaves. According to the bible, anyone who kidnaps someone is to be put to death, whether the victim has been sold or is still in the kidnapper s possession (Exodus 21:16). Disciples in the New Testament also spoke out against slavery in their testaments. Despite this, the women continue to own and sell slaves. By portraying Christians in this light, Twain mocks the religion as hypocritical. The escaped slave, Jim, also serves as a mockery of religion. Jim is known to believe in almost all superstations. • 28. Intellectual Property Laws Of Australia Essay Intellectual property is a broad term that is used to refer to the rights that the owner of an invention or an artwork enjoys. An example of intellectual property law is the Trade Related Aspect of Intellectual Property Rights (TRIPs), which gives individual rights such as patent, designs, and trademark. Intellectual property is contained in the Article 2(viii) of the convention, which led the establishment of the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO). Literary works, inventions, discoveries, trademarks, and industrial designs are among the rights that are provided in WIPO. Intellectual property in Australia has a strong judicial support. Introduction An effective system of intellectual property is important in facilitating innovation as well as economic growth within a country and across all its borders (Davidson, Monoti, Wiseman, 2012). The current global economy is concentrating more in the invention of ideas that are original, other than in manufacturing of machines. To enhance and protect these ideas, there ought to be effective intellectual property laws. The government of Australia has prioritized the protection of original ideas from individuals through copyright, patent, and trademarks among other intelligent property laws, which give the inventor a temporary period to enjoy the financial benefits of his or her original idea. For methodology, it was fortunate that I got the opportunity to join the Directed Reading Program on statistical methods, ranking soccer teams in cooperation with Dr. Steve. Because outcomes involving multiple categories occur more often, we wanted to compare and improve existing ranking methods, and made them suitable for more classifications. For example, primarily, there was only one classification: scores. To advance, currently, classification of yardages would also be considered when ranking. After collecting unstructured data online, we used least squares to get the squared matrix for Massey s Method but found it failed to cover multiple categories simultaneously. After research and comparison of other methods, we found that Markov Method succeeded because the weights can be assigned to eigenvectors of normalized stochastic matrices. Since we have found the desired method, we reached the agreement that the comparison between the two methods was consequential here. The results by using the two methods of ranking the same set of scores were different. Therefore, on the seminar, I concluded that Markov methods outperformed Massey s Method in the research, but further research suggests that Massey s Methods have a better performance under some circumstances. The genre that fits the most into this novella is realism, because of the separation of classes, the hard work that a person has to put into their every day life to try and make a difference, and the way society influences the actions of people and their relationships. However, no matter what genre is specifically chosen, there will be other genres present that contradict the genre of choice. She continues on to describe that the mill is divided into by shifts, a group of workers come in for a while and work, and then another group comes in and relieves that group. The point of this quote is to demonstrate that many people are unaware of what really goes on inside the mill, even though they live in a manufacturing town. Davis goes into detail about what the mill is like. Fire in every horrible form: pits of flame waving in the wind: liquid metal flames writhing in tortuous streams through the sand; wide caldrons filled with boiling fire, over which bent ghastly wretches stirring the strange brewing; and through all, crowds of half clad man, looking like revengeful ghosts in the red light, hurried, throwing masses of glittering fire. It was like a street in Hell. (Davis 1225) It is important to remember that the novella shows realism, but it also has a case of romanticism that backs up the realism efforts. The romanticism is displayed through her descriptive view of the Mill, where most that live in the manufacturing town do not realize how strenuous and horrid the working conditions are like. Hugh and Deborah have an interesting relationship, because of their interesting relationship it exemplifies realism perfectly.
