The Effects Of Cheap Labor Bad Jobs At Bad Wages
Currently there are 168 million child laborers in the world. More than half of them, 85 million,
employed at hazardous jobs, according to the International Labour Organization. In the article
In Praise of Cheap Labor Bad jobs at bad wages are better than no jobs at all , Paul Krugman
Professor of economics at MIT, explains that child labor cannot just be wiped away like so
many other distasteful practices. That it takes a perfect storm of economic success and low child
labor numbers for a full transition to labor laws that ban it. Employers will agree to follow the
law; similar to what happened in the U.S. in the 1930 s when Congress passed the Fair Labor
Standards Act. This Act established standards for the basic minimum wageand overtime pay. It
restricts the hours that children under age 16 can work and forbids the employment of children
under age 18 in certain jobs deemed too dangerous. Krugman believes that many developing
countries are not at a point where they can support a full ban on child labor. He gives the
example of countries like Indonesia [who are,] still so poor that progress is measured in terms
of how much the average person gets to eat (Krugman 4). Professor of economics at Yale
university, Christopher Udry, in his article Child Labor provides a definition of child labor as the
sacrifice of the future welfare of the child in exchange for additional income (243). The causes of
Child labor are not as simple as cultural or economic reasons, and a

Carlsbad Case
City of Carlsbad Case Analysis
Issues: The City of Carlsbad, CA is home to 75,000 oceanfront residents. After emerging from the
worst recession in the history of the city 1995, robust changes to the structure of the city was in
order. Therefore, under the leadership of the city manager, Carlsbad began the reengineering
process, which included revising the city s mission and values statements, applying new information
systems, and rearranging the city s numerous departments into five groups, called the major service
areas (MSAs). Cummings and Worley indicated that the internal and external stakeholders viewed
the changes positively and believed that they had improved customer focus and employee
commitment (p.433). Conversely, while consulting with an OD consultant, the City of Carlsbad
was made aware within the Public Works Department, the data indicated that there was an
assortment of problems that made the city less efficient. This included overlapping roles and
equipment, general discretion for each department, and the lack of goals.

According to Cummings and Worley (2015), an organization must clarify their strategy in order to
have a successful downsizing intervention. Therefore, employers or management should engage
employees through participation and empowerment. Given that employees already had their
reservations about the change, it is imperative to ask employees for feedback. In addition,
employers should educate their employees what the processes are for other departments so that
cohesiveness can span across departments (Cummings Worley,

James Earl Ray Quotes
James Earl Ray: A Weapon of Hate Third Draft Delainy Kroeger If a man has not discovered
something that he will die for, he isn t fit to live. This quote was said by Dr. Martin Luther King,
Jr. James Earl Ray was the man in charge of taking the life of this amazing man. King states that he
will die for what he believes in and he did exactly that. He died for the right of equality for all
human beings. The murder of an American patriot, Martin Luther King Jr., caused James Earl Ray
to leave a legacy of hatred, which has left disgrace upon his name. The eldest of George and Lucille
Ray s nine children was born on March 10, 1928 in Alton, Illinois ( James Earl Ray ) ( James Earl

What Are The Scientific Management Theories
Brief Analysis of the four theoretical contributions which are central to the understanding of today s
Organizations:
1.Scientific Management F.W Taylor:
Frederick W. Taylor was recognized as the father of the scientific management theory. Taylor s
Scientific Management Theory is not just a collection of purely technical principles and practices,
but also the cooperation and harmonization of fundamental relationships between people and
machines and techniques; between people in the production process, especially between the
manager and the employee. Thanks to this theory applied in the industrial enterprises, the labor
productivity has increased dramatically; The final result is high profitability, both employers and
workers are high income. His scientific approach requires detailed observation and measurement of
routine work, in order to find the best working way. Taylor s approach is categorized as the bottom
up approach. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Nevertheless, Frederick Taylor laid the foundations for mass production techniques, which had
influenced in industrial practices as well as the general theoretical ideas of organization, not only
for industrial sector, but also in the service sector.
Frederick W. Taylor s scientific managementprinciples include: Dividing responsibility for work
from workers to managers. The manager is the planner and the job designer, the worker is the
person who performs the task; Use scientific methods to determine the most effective way of
doing things, dividing the work for the worker appropriately, specifying how to accomplish the
task; Choose the best person to perform the work as planned; Train employees effectively; Monitor
workers to ensure appropriate workflows and from there to achieve corresponding results.

The s Genetic Information For Medical Or Cosmetic...
CGE is a way to modify one s genetic information for medical or cosmetic purposes. But in this
paper I will only consider the cosmetic purposes, since CGE for medical reasons seem to be
morally unproblematic. The main premise in this paper is that since CGE is safe, legal,
voluntary, and widely accessible, there is nothing morally problematic for someone to choose to
undergo CGE themselves or to choose it for their children. And if this premise is true, then it
would also be true that there is nothing morally problematic for engineers to design, construct, or
maintain products which are intended to enable people to engage in CGE in safe, legal, voluntary
and widely accessible ways. Firstly, I will confirm that the premise is true and how it makes the
conclusion true as well. Secondly, I will point out Sandel s arguments against the premise, which
suggest that the premise might be false. Thirdly, I would object to one of Sandel s points using my
own arguments. Then, I would point out how others, who may sympathize Sandel, may argue
against my objections. Finally, I would conclude the final judgment based on all the arguments
made.
If cosmetic genetic engineering is safe, legal, voluntary, and widely accessible, then there is
nothing morally wrong or problematic for someone to choose to undergo it because there is nothing
wrong or problematic to have great gifts such as strong big build, multi talented brain, good at ethics
class and many more. Through genetic lottery , it is

Thomas Aquinas Proof For God
Thomas Aquinas and Proof for God
Saint Thomas Aquinas lived from 1225 to 1274. He was a Catholic priest in the Dominican Order
and one of the most influential medieval thinkers. He was hugely affected by scholasticism and
Aristotle and recognized for his synthesis of the two aforementioned traditions. Although he wrote
countless works of philosophy and theology across his existence, his most prominent work is the
Summa Theologica. Saint Thomas Aquinas was born in 1225 in Roccasecca in Italy. His father was
Count Landulf of an old highborn south Italian family, and his mother was Countess Theodora of

Autism Spectrum Disorder Case Study
The inclusion of individuals with ASD in mainstream classroom settings first began with the
introduction of the Education of All Handicapped Children Act of 1975 and later reauthorized as
the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) (US Department of Education) in 1990.
These laws ensured that all children, no matter their disabilitywere included into general education
classrooms, even though they may not have been given the proper learning environment needed to
succeed. Inclusionin the education system has created a lot of controversy among teachers, and
parents. This controversy represents the decision to incorporate students with Autism Spectrum

barrier to individuals with ASD and other classmate s success. Results from this study show that
overall students with ASD had higher achievement in support classrooms rather than mainstream

Texas V. Johnson Majority Opinion Essay
It s almost the end of 2016 and we still experience discriminative trouble. We are all different but
should accept others differences. After reading What, of This Goldfish, Would You Wish? , by
Etgar Keret, Texas v. Johnson Majority Opinion , by William J. Brennan, and American Flag
Stands for Tolerance , by Ronald J. Alle, I have found fluent differences in the people explored
and the way the people accepted others. In Texas v. Johnson Majority Opinion the people of Texas
are having a hard time accepting the fact that Johnson had burned a flag. In American Flag Stands

Of Religion In Sherman Alexie sThe Lone Ranger And Tonto...
Religion is a controversial topic in modern society, whether it the topic of God existing or the fear
of a certain religion and its followers. Regardless, in Sherman Alexie s The Lone Ranger and
Tonto Fist Fight in Heaven, a book composed of numerous short stories, there is a story that clearly
drives a connection between religion and the characters: JesusChrist s Half Brother is Alive and
Well on the Spokane Reservation. In this story, Alexie uses a biblical analogy to create the
character James, a mysterious young boy who does not speak for much of his early life, to give
an allusion of the Bible and James. Later, we see the unnamed narrator caring for James after his
parent s death of a house fire, giving yet another allusion to the narrator and a follower of a
religion. At the conclusion of the chapter, James muteness has gone away and begins to speak
lessons that give the narrator meaning, alluding to the Bible once again. By using allusion
throughout the chapter, Alexie gives us a hopeful future for the characters, much like religion gives
a hopeful outlook towards the future for its followers.
As stated earlier, James birth alludes to the birth of Christ, emphasizing that Christ and James are
somewhat similar. Alexie did this to reference the birth of Jesus Christ and use this to develop the
characters later in the story. In the chapter, the beginning stated; ...birth to a boy today and seeing
how it was nearly Christmas...she kept telling everyone she was a

Canadian Political System Analysis
Canada s government is a democracy like the United States, however their style of government is
different. The Canadian government is based on a parliamentary democracy while the United States
is based on a federal presidential constitutional republic. The parliament of Canada establishes laws

Also, the loving care is very much related to the spirituality. Spirituality has a vital role in all of the
three vital components of the healing hospital. Especially, the most important component of healing
hospital, culture of radical loving care, has relationship to spirituality.
Also, there are many challenges for healing hospitals in five characteristics such as, technology
and prescription drugs, business factors, bureaucracy, cynicism, and failed leadership. According
to Chapman, it is clear that the importance of loving care has decreased as technology

that the way we spent money is what we see as valuable for us. By utilizing this many of the old
charitable hospitals became high revenue corporations in these days. Therefore, business factors are
crucial. Another challenging factor of the healing hospital is bureaucracy. Bureaucracy is very

In Peter s interview with the consultants, he says that he just isn t motivated since if he works

help the company reach its goal or exceed their goals, and he certainly has no desire to stay at
Initech. There are three form of commitment: (1) affective commitment, (2) continuance
commitment, and (3) normative commitment. Affective commitment is when a personas emotional
attachment to an organization. Peter had no intention of staying at Initech following his promotion,
persuading Michael and Samir to help him sabotage the company by embezzling. Continuance
commitment is the amount that an individual desires to stay with an organization. Tom, an older co
worker of Peter, has worked at Initech for thirty years and has invested time and effort, and is
extremely concerned about being let go when he hears about the consultants coming in. Normative
commitment is the extent to which an employee feels that they are obligated to stay with an
organization. Despite getting a promotion, Peter still lacks normative commitment and carries out
his plan to sabotage Initech. Job satisfaction involves an individual s attitude and emotions resulting
from their job. If their attitude and emotions are positive, they are satisfied, but if attitudes and
emotions are negative, they are dissatisfied. The Hawthorne study in the late 1920s found that

shaping and developing a person s character. I agree that adversity not only elicits talents, but also

learning experiences and observations, I have witnessed the significant outcomes that come from

There are many ways people can experience distress either psychologically or emotionally. A
close friend of mine was diagnosed with an anxiety disorder called acrophobia at a very young
age. Acrophobia is an intense fear of heights. She experienced multiple panic attacks while being
above a certain distance, making her extremely uncomfortable and unbalanced. This caused her
to be unable to go on everyday things such as playgrounds, building over two stories, and
airplanes. After she was twelve, she finally decided to face her fear and overcome her
acrophobia. She learned how to breathe during panic attacks in order to calm down and to not
think about the negative outcomes that were what if s in her mind. Once she managed to cope

Now, she competes at a collegiate level and is highly successful. From the adversity my friend

Analysis Of Nine Beginnings By Margaret Atwood
Why does someone write? What makes authors that we enjoy to read, feel inspired to sit in a deep,
state of self reflection. As they ignore others around them, and focus on their own imaginations in
monomaniac fashion ? Margaret Atwood s Nine Beginnings, attempts to answer the broad question
of, Why do you write? This is an essay where the author is having a conversation with herself and
contemplating her thoughts about writing. Atwood acknowledges that writing is a process that is
never ending, and a person needs self confidence of their ability to write, in order to be a proficient
writer. Margaret Atwood also believes that multiple accounts of failure are important for any
writer. A person learns from their mistakes and the writer s voice comes out more authentic to
who the person is due to adversity. Writing is a selfish act. The first goal for writing is to better
yourself, the writer who is wrestling with their emotions, life and thoughts. Reading and writing
are dependent on each other. Writers are inspired by what they have read, and they think of their
own lives and build upon their influences. Every writer must read, in order to gain knowledge of
what is inspirational for themselves and others, You learn to write by reading and writing,, writing
and reading. As a craft it s acquired through the apprentice system, but you choose your own

Lear wants to remain in charge of his destiny, even though the choices he makes are poor or
filled with danger. Thus, Lear chooses to go out into the storm because he must retain some
element of control. The only other choice is to acquiesce to his daughters control, and for Lear,
that option is not worth considering. Lear is stubborn, like a willful child, and this is just one
additional way in which he tries to deal with the events controlling his life. Lear flees into the
storm, as a child flees a reality too harsh to accept. In spite of his despair and self pity, Lear is
revealed as a complex man, one whose punishment far exceeds his foolish errors, and thus, Lear
is deserving of the audience s sympathy. Eventually, Lear displays regret, remorse, empathy, and
compassion for the poor, a population that Lear has not noticed before. Lear focuses on the
parallels he sees to his own life, and so in a real sense, his pity for the poor is also a reflection of
the pity he feels for his own situation. Lear is the anointed king, God s representative, and thus, he
shares the responsibility for dispensing justice on earth. He recognizes that he bears responsibility
for both his own problems and for those of others, who suffer equally. His understanding of his
complicity in the events that followed is a major step in

Subprime Lending
Defining Subprime Lending The problem to be investigated is the effect of subprime mortgage
loans on the economy. According to Merriam Webster subprime is defined as having or being an
interest rate that is higher than a prime rate and is extended especially to low income borrowers;
extending or obtaining a subprime loan(Webster, 2012). Subprime mortgageloans are loans given to
people with a low credit score. Subprime borrowers normally don t qualify for prime loans or
prime lending. According to Jennings, the subprime mortgage market is defined to include those
borrowers with a FICO (Fair Isaac Co.) score below 570 (Jennings, 2012, p. 434).

The vast majority of subprime loans are now securitized; leading to claims that securitization
facilitates predatory lending and should actively police lenders. New standards to protect borrowers
against unfair practices were launched 1 July including requirements to ensure they are not lured
into credit contracts they cannot afford to repay. The standards include provisions to stop predatory
lenders from exploitative practices such as using household items as security for cash loans (Engel,
K. amp; McCoy, 2007).
Lender and Incentives One has to wonder, why were subprime loans pitched to consumers? They
weren t pushed for altruistic purposes; not from the kindness of the heart. The results were
inevitable. According to the readings, subprime loans ended with the same result. They were a risk
for the consumer as well as the bank backing the loan. There had to be some incentive for the
banks; some benefit that is reaped. In this case, it was a monetary benefit.
Yield spread premiums is what lenders call them. Consumer groups call them legal kickbacks.
YSPs are the cash that mortgage brokers or lenders get for steering a borrower into a home loan
with a higher interest rate (Center for Responsible Lending, Yield Spread Premiums (YSPS).
However, the Federal Reserve stepped in and regulated these kickbacks.
New rules issued by the Federal Reserve Board mean that YSPs are no longer legal. The Fed rules

Isolate is defined as to remain alone or keep separate from others whereas solitude is the state of
being alone. Isolation and solitude are tremendous, effective and beating emotions. They forces
the capacity to devastate a people life by overpowering it with despair and murkiness. A short
story, A Rose for Emily, by William Faulkner, was initially published on April 30, 1930. William
Cuthbert Faulkner was born in New Albany, Mississippi, on September 25, 1897. As he
experienced childhood in New Albany, Mississippi, the Southern culture impacted to him. Through
his works such a Sartoris (book, 1931), The Sound and The Fury (1929), As I Lay Dying (ballad,
1930), The Sanctuary (1931), and A Famle (1954), he delineated sequentially the rotting Southern
culture. Nathaniel Hawthorne, an American creator of Young Goodman Brown
, born on July 4,
1804, in Salem, Massachusetts, experienced childhood in an exceptionally strict Puritan family,
which is the place his motivation originated from. Bartleby, the Scrivener: A Story of Wall Street
(1853) is a short storycomposed by Herman Melville. He was Born in 1819 in New York City. He
did most of his learning on his own, reading literature, technical manuals, historical textbooks and
religious texts. The story echoes Melville s self criticism of his current work. In the stories: A Rose
for Emily, Young Goodman Brown and Bartleby the Scrivener, the majority of the primary
characters withdraw themselves from society, but for

Midsummer Night s Dream Contrast
A Midsummer nights Dream is known as one of Shakespeare s most popular and most performed
plays worldwide. Although there are many versions of the play, they tend to stay true to the original
characters, setting, and them. However in Michael Hoffman s 1999 film version of A Midsummer
Night s Dream, he breaks the traditional rules by first changing the setting. Hoffman sends the
comedic action from ancient Athens to an imaginary Italian village named Monte Athena during the
nineteenth century. In this portrayal of the play, Duke Theseus is nothing but a tired and seemingly
unimportant bureaucrat, rather than a victorious hero as shown in the play. On the same note,
Hippolyta, Theseus s bride to be, previously referred to as the Queen of the... Show more content on

In particular this relates to Puck, who has been transformed from a mischievous fairy to a middle
aged lounge lizard. Puck is the closest thing to a protagonist in the play because he is responsible
for many of the complications that occur between the four lovers. Similarly, Titania loses much of
her previous complexity throughout the film. The play emphasizes the strong bonds of an ancient
female friendship that keep Titania from abandoning the Indian boy because she wants to care for
a deceased friend s son. Hermia and Helena s lives are also marked by strong friendships although
Demetrius who is in love with Hermia is also who Helena has fallen in love with. Hoffman does
stay true to the ideal of female friendship shown in the play, which is one of the reasons, why
relationship between Hermia, Helena, Hippoltya, and Titinia is understandable.
Although, Hoffman didn t change everything when he converted the play to a film, he did change
most of the major concepts. It is not certain why he changed much of the play, but one explanation
that fits is because he wanted to modernize it. A Midsummer Night s Dream was written in the
1590 s and the film was produced in 1999. Hoffman most likely felt that change was necessary for
modern audiences to understand. However, the outcome of Hoffman s changes is that the comical

Iris Murdoch s View about the Conotations of Great Novels
The idea of perfection, Iris defines in more details the concepts of attention, vision, imagination
and love, and all of these figure in the concept of freedom. Her idea of perfection is moral
progress, the movement toward a better vision of an object or a person, in order to seek out the
reality of something or someone else.
Iris defines that: Art is the most educational of all human activities and a place in which the nature
of morality can be seen. Hence, good art inspires love in the highest part of the soul. Plato
describes the role of great art as an educator and revealer. What is learnt in art is about the real
quality of human nature. (63)
In an interview took place during August 1987 at Iris Murdoch s home in Oxford by S.B Sagare,
Murdoch shared her view about the connotations of great novels. Sagere asked that: You say that
the great novel is shaped by the vision of the artist I mean, a novelist should have a view point of
mature morality ( Sublime and Beautiful Revisited 257). Will you please elaborate? Murdoch
answered: I think the fundamental thing which a great novel can t be without is a kind of moral
vision, an ability of the writer to judge justly his own general attitude to his society and attitude to
his characters. This is what must be deep, must be just, and must be compassionate. The presence
of these virtues, the ability to see thing in perspective also implies an ability to express what is
funny in the right sort of way. These are

She Wept She Railed Poem
She Wept, She Railed
She Wept, She Railed by Stanley Kunitz is a poem that focuses on woman and violence. Kunitz
details the way women are treated by men in the 1st and 2nd stanza and then provides examples of
powerful women in history where violence was a major component of their life. The last stanza
describes a sexual experience with one of his past partners. The 1st stanza Kunitz discusses the
cruelty that men bestow upon women and the reaction of women. The woman that is weeping and
railing is being forced into sexual actions. The meat Men toss into a muslin cage is referring to a
penis hidden by cloth. To make their spineless doxy bleat refers to men engaging in rough sexual
activity with a doxy or promiscuous woman. Bleat means to scream and rail, the man that is forcing
this woman into sexual activity has caused other woman to scream in pain. The entire 1st stanza is
characterizing men as harsh forcing women into sexual activity. The 2nd stanza emphasizes the

Analysis Of The Poem Hay Fever
Hay Fever Response
Hay Fever was a comical play with a strong message. The actors throughout this play steadily used
others to gain their own attention. The message this play left behind after many laughs was do not
use others, plain and simple.
The space was a well constructed thrust stage however, the stage was not raised off the ground and
the seats appeared to be mobile which lead to the belief that this is an Environmental Theater. As
for the layout of the stage, there was a couch and a table in center stage for the first two acts, a

All of the family members acted genuine. There was one actor who stood out as a perfect fit for
his character. Taylor Rascher played Simon Bliss and played him perfectly. Rascher s character
Simon was a young man who was dramatic and romantic so much so it was almost to the point
of ridiculousness. Rascher stole the show in the first act when he was romancing with Michelle
Luz, who plays Myra Arundel. Rascher was displaying his love for Michelle Luz (Myra) in the
most dramatic of fashions; he was playing the Bliss game of pretending to be in complete love
with someone and then a moment later change his mind. Rascher was proclaiming his love with
elegant speeches and coddling up next to her and eventually kissing her. Rascher made this
scene particularly hilarious because he was completely over the top in typical Bliss fashion. Of
course, all of this was for naught because Luz ended up kissing Joe Hubbard s character David
Bliss in act two and also Rascher proclaimed his engagement to Caitlin Stagemoller s character,
Jackie Coryton. Rascher made his voice more shrill and audible to appear to be more dramatic and
create more attention for himself. In the same way, Rascher used grander gestures with his arms
(flailing, waving, etc.) to cause a more dramatic effect.
The play was well interpreted by all whom were involved. Steven Wrentmore, the Director, kept the
1920 s feel by dressing in all 1920 s costumes and everyone spoke as if they were

As mentioned before, there are certain steps which take advantage of this method of financial

company will start by identifying assets that can be used to raise funds. These assets typically
represent rights to payments at future dates and are usually referred to as receivables. The company
that owns the receivable is usually called the originator. In this process, the risk that these payments
many not be made on time is an important factor in valuing the receivables. In this factor, emphasis

time period women were denied suffragewhich compelled many activist like Carrie chapman Cattto

evidence and logical reasoning why women suffrage is inevitable, and by questioning congress
delays and sincerity evoking feelings of guilt and urgency. To convince congress of the urgency of
this issue, it is imperative for Catt to seem as reliable as possible so she can be taken seriously.

displaying her knowledge and achievements to the men. She demonstrates knowledge of the reason

The choice he made was to sell his soul and start a business for the devil if he was rewarded
treasure that had been buried. The want to be rich is what provoked Tom to settle this deal. In
doing so, he cost many people all of their money. Tom conned people and left them in despair,
and he sold his soul so he can be a rich and mighty man. He had been fooled by the evil of money.
Therefore, he will pay for his choices and the actions he committed. Towards the end of this
story, Tom begins fearing for his life, afraid that the devil was going to collect his soul at any
moment. He aimed to become religious, in hopes that will prevent the devil from coming.
However, he did not succeed and was taken away by the devil. The theme Washington Irving was
conveying is that money is not worth your life. You can be happy and poor, and rich and
miserable. If Tom Walker understood that, he would have led a life without the devil on his

vital to move at a pace the client is comfortable with. If I am aware of marks or cuts before the

legislation gave heavy rights to the United Statesgovernment. There are multiple arguments that can
be made demonstrating why this Act fails when it comes to being ethical and meaningful not only
to the constitution but also to that of basic privileges given to human beings. Legislations, such as
unjust detainments, wire taps, and secured information, gave... Show more content on

Sneak and peek warrants, also called delayed notification warrants, allowed law enforcement to
conduct a covert search without informing the suspect of the search until later, (Barth, 2015). This
has since created animosity and fear towards the government as people feel that it is invasion of
privacy. Alongside the 72 hour detainees and the un warranted wire taps, the government was also
given the right to prohibit any third party organization from releasing information that the federal
government uses, as a resource to run a search on an individual. While different levels of
government can share information to connect the dots , information on suspected terrorists do not
have to be shared. This gives the government and advantage over terrorist as it let them go
undetected for longer as they gear up to incapacitate terrorists before they can strike (APPSTATE,
N.D).
Again, this seems like a useful provision, however this also presents issues with individuals who
were detained and released under false accusations or incorrect assumptions. The suspected
terrorists were set free and found not guilty but have no way of getting information or proof of
what happened. Many feel as though this has and could still lead to

How Optical Antennas Are An Emerging Concept Within...
1. Introduction
Optical antennas are an emerging concept in physical optics. Similar to radio wave and microwave
antennas, their purpose is to convert the energy of free propagating radiation to localized energy,
and vice versa. Optical antennas exploit the unique properties of metal nanostructures, which
behave as strongly coupled plasmas at optical frequencies.
Electromagnetic (EM) waves from low radiofrequencies (RF) to high optical frequencies pervade
our environment. They interact with matter by coupling directly to the motion of charge carriers.
This carrier motion can be associated with characteristic spectral resonances resulting from
absorption and emission of EM energy.
According to the IEEE Standard Definitions of Terms for Antennas, an antenna is defined as the
part of a transmitting or receiving system that is designed to radiate or to receive electromagnetic
waves [1]. Depending on the resonance properties, environment, and use, an antenna can be
designed in all sizes and shapes including linear dipoles, horns, dishes, apertures, and patches.
Despite the different form factors, all antennas operate under the same principle. They mediate the
transformation between propagating EM energy and localized or confined energy delivered to a
load or emitted from a source via coupling of the EM energy to electron motion. Although originally
conceived for radio waves, the antenna definition above notably does not constrain the frequency
range of operation. The same

911 Operations Supervisor Research Paper
What is a 911 Operations Supervisor? A 911 operations supervisor plays one of the most important
public safety roles within government administration. These professionals supervise emergency
communications and dispatch appropriate services for police, fire and medical services. http:/
/www.bls.gov/ooh/office and administrative support/police fire and ambulance dispatchers.htm
Duties 911 operations supervisors delegate daily work responsibilities and direct personnel when
responding to emergencies. Because of the sensitive nature of emergency response, 911 operations
supervisors closely monitor and support all of their employee s actions. This is to ensure that safety
protocols and state policies are followed exactly to the letter. They consistently... Show more

They need to be knowledge of codes, procedures and terminology used in public safety dispatching.
They also need superior technical skills because they use radio, electronic, computer and
telecommunications systems that are generally not available to the public. 911 operations
supervisors are continually training to maintain awareness of changing dispatching, public safety
and radio and telecommunications regulations. This means that they must know the Federal
Communications Commission s (FCC) requirements for public safety dispatch centers. 911
operations supervisors must have strong pedagogical skills because they continual train new hires
and re train existing employees. Special Employment Conditions Public safety agencies have very
high hiring and employment standards. For example, 911 dispatchers must obtain passing scores
on comprehensive dispatcher exams. This typically involves a computer based test that shows real
world situations, such as injured people and car accidents. The exam will ask the candidate to
select the best course of action, which may not always be

Persuasive Essay On Cecil The Lion
Cecil the Lion Cecil the Lion was a well known 13 year old male lion who once resided in the
Hwange game reserve in Zimbabwe. The lion was lured away from the sanctuary with the use of
food out of the game reserve. Cecil was then killed by an illegal party of big game hunters. The
man who killed Cecil was identified by conservation groups as American, Dr. Walter Palmer, a
dentist in Minneapolis, Minnesota. (CBS 1) James Palmers, the huntingguide, and a landowner
whose property is adjacent to the Hwange game reserve, are facing poaching charges. The two
men were both granted 1,000 dollars each of bail money.(CBS 19) In 2008, Palmer had been in
trouble for poaching, and plead guilty to a license violation after killing a black bear.(Independent

Cecil the lion was a beloved lion, as he was a major attraction at the Hwange game reserve. Cecil
was also being studied up until his death by Oxford University as part of a larger study
conducted by the university. The study had already received nearly half a million dollars in
contributions. Cecil was shot by Walter Palmer with an arrow. Then forty hours later, after the
lion s suffering and misery, Palmer finished off Cecil with a rifle. (CBS 10) After the report,
Palmer closed his office in Bloomington, Minnesota and went into hiding for the time being
after the murder of Cecil the lion. Cecil was then found by the Zimbabwe conservation Task
Force beheaded and skinned. Cecil s six lion cubs will most likely be killed by another adult lion
according to David Salmoni, Animal Planet s predator expert. (CBS 9) The aforementioned events
are why lion hunting should be outlawed and illegal. People like James Palmer, don t care about
the lives of animals like Cecil the lion, yet Cecil was a main attraction at the game

The Effectiveness Of Brand Placement
Purpose
This article investigates the effectiveness of brand placement in movies. Brand placement is an
advertising technique used by companies to promote their products through a non traditional
advertising technique, usually through appearances in film, television, or other media (Product
Placement, n.d.). Previous studies have shown that not all brand placements are equally effective.
Early studies have shown mixed results regarding the consumer s ability to remember the brand
appearing in the film or television. Additionally, placement has shown weak or non existent results
towards brand attitude. The authors of this study investigated the interaction of prominence (how
prominently the brand is represented in the movie) and plot connection (how well the placement is
related to the movie s story line) on actual moviegoer s recognition of brands and their attitude
towards them (Dens, DePelsmacker, Wouters, Purnawirawan, 2012).
Methodology
The authors indicated that their research was one of the first to study the impact of brand
placement characteristics on brand attitude, and the effect of brand recognition in this process.
They conducted a thorough literature review and developed eight hypotheses regarding the
following: the effects of prominence on brand recognition and attitude, the impact of plot
connection on brand recognition and attitude, the interaction between prominence and plot
connection, and the mediating role of brand recognition in brand attitude

Bach Vs Handel Essay
I ask you this: What would are world be like if everyone looked the same, acted the same, and
even had the same interests? It would be a gray place full of nothing but dull blobs that were
once people. Now you see why being different is not only good but important in our society. Even
people of the same talent can have a vast chasm of contradictions between them. Of course, that is
why I am here. To tell you of two great composers, Johannes Sebastian Bach and George Frideric
Handel, and the lives they led. They both had a taste for music, yet their preferences lay in different
styles. They were raised in good families, but their parents did not have the same visions for their
sons. They both had spirit, but opposite spirits in many ways. Even these two, who are close in
what they do and who they are, have their distinctions. Yet they also have many similarities
because they lived in the same time and were both well known for their careers. To begin with,
they were born into somewhat wealthy families. Bach was more... Show more content on

They are both exceptional composers. Filled with the ability to take a few sounds and string it
together in a grand chorus. Bach was more technical in his music. He loved order, and it showed
through his work. Handel was all about freedom and passion. He made his music swirl through
the air like a whirlwind: light and unrestrained. In conclusion, there is interest and boredom. There
is gravity and levity. There is wonder and amusement. And there is power. Handel and Bach. Bach
and Handel. When you think of these two in the same light, you can plainly see that great chasm of
contradictions spanning the void between them. However, you can also see a bridge settled over
the huge expanse. The bridge connects the two and portrays the middle ground. The treaty. The
agreement. The oath to be taken by those who love music. They are different, yet alike in many

Brachial Plexus Injury
The brachial Plexus is the network of nerves that sends signals from the spine to the shoulder, arm,
and hand. The nerve fibers within this network run from the spine where it passes through the
cervico axillary canal where it finally reaches the axilla. It is formed in the cervical and thoracic
parts in the spine, (C5 C8, T1). An injuryoccurs to this when the nerves are aggravated. This could
mean they become stressed, compressed, or ripped away from the spinal cord. Some common
injuriesthat cause this is in contact sports such as football, basketball, hockey, or lacrosse. More
serious injuries are from car accidents or motorcycle incidents that can leave someone paralyzed
and with a loss of all sensations or functions the arm, hand, or

  • 2. The Effects Of Cheap Labor Bad Jobs At Bad Wages Currently there are 168 million child laborers in the world. More than half of them, 85 million, employed at hazardous jobs, according to the International Labour Organization. In the article In Praise of Cheap Labor Bad jobs at bad wages are better than no jobs at all , Paul Krugman Professor of economics at MIT, explains that child labor cannot just be wiped away like so many other distasteful practices. That it takes a perfect storm of economic success and low child labor numbers for a full transition to labor laws that ban it. Employers will agree to follow the law; similar to what happened in the U.S. in the 1930 s when Congress passed the Fair Labor Standards Act. This Act established standards for the basic minimum wageand overtime pay. It restricts the hours that children under age 16 can work and forbids the employment of children under age 18 in certain jobs deemed too dangerous. Krugman believes that many developing countries are not at a point where they can support a full ban on child labor. He gives the example of countries like Indonesia [who are,] still so poor that progress is measured in terms of how much the average person gets to eat (Krugman 4). Professor of economics at Yale university, Christopher Udry, in his article Child Labor provides a definition of child labor as the sacrifice of the future welfare of the child in exchange for additional income (243). The causes of Child labor are not as simple as cultural or economic reasons, and a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

After emerging from the worst recession in the history of the city 1995, robust changes to the structure of the city was in order. Therefore, under the leadership of the city manager, Carlsbad began the reengineering process, which included revising the city s mission and values statements, applying new information systems, and rearranging the city s numerous departments into five groups, called the major service areas (MSAs). Cummings and Worley indicated that the internal and external stakeholders viewed the changes positively and believed that they had improved customer focus and employee commitment (p.433). Conversely, while consulting with an OD consultant, the City of Carlsbad was made aware within the Public Works Department, the data indicated that there was an assortment of problems that made the city less efficient. This included overlapping roles and equipment, general discretion for each department, and the lack of goals. Analysis: ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Therefore, employers or management should engage employees through participation and empowerment. In addition, employers should educate their employees what the processes are for other departments so that cohesiveness can span across departments (Cummings Worley, ... But in this paper I will only consider the cosmetic purposes, since CGE for medical reasons seem to be morally unproblematic. The main premise in this paper is that since CGE is safe, legal, voluntary, and widely accessible, there is nothing morally problematic for someone to choose to undergo CGE themselves or to choose it for their children. And if this premise is true, then it would also be true that there is nothing morally problematic for engineers to design, construct, or maintain products which are intended to enable people to engage in CGE in safe, legal, voluntary and widely accessible ways. Firstly, I will confirm that the premise is true and how it makes the conclusion true as well. Secondly, I will point out Sandel s arguments against the premise, which suggest that the premise might be false. Thirdly, I would object to one of Sandel s points using my own arguments. Then, I would point out how others, who may sympathize Sandel, may argue against my objections. Finally, I would conclude the final judgment based on all the arguments made. If cosmetic genetic engineering is safe, legal, voluntary, and widely accessible, then there is nothing morally wrong or problematic for someone to choose to undergo it because there is nothing wrong or problematic to have great gifts such as strong big build, multi talented brain, good at ethics class and many more. • 10. Of Religion In Sherman Alexie sThe Lone Ranger And Tonto... Religion is a controversial topic in modern society, whether it the topic of God existing or the fear of a certain religion and its followers. Regardless, in Sherman Alexie s The Lone Ranger and Tonto Fist Fight in Heaven, a book composed of numerous short stories, there is a story that clearly drives a connection between religion and the characters: JesusChrist s Half Brother is Alive and Well on the Spokane Reservation. In this story, Alexie uses a biblical analogy to create the character James, a mysterious young boy who does not speak for much of his early life, to give an allusion of the Bible and James. Later, we see the unnamed narrator caring for James after his parent s death of a house fire, giving yet another allusion to the narrator and a follower of a religion. At the conclusion of the chapter, James muteness has gone away and begins to speak lessons that give the narrator meaning, alluding to the Bible once again. By using allusion throughout the chapter, Alexie gives us a hopeful future for the characters, much like religion gives a hopeful outlook towards the future for its followers. As stated earlier, James birth alludes to the birth of Christ, emphasizing that Christ and James are somewhat similar. Alexie did this to reference the birth of Jesus Christ and use this to develop the characters later in the story. Subprime mortgageloans are loans given to people with a low credit score. Subprime borrowers normally don t qualify for prime loans or prime lending. According to Jennings, the subprime mortgage market is defined to include those borrowers with a FICO (Fair Isaac Co.) score below 570 (Jennings, 2012, p. 434). The vast majority of subprime loans are now securitized; leading to claims that securitization facilitates predatory lending and should actively police lenders. New standards to protect borrowers against unfair practices were launched 1 July including requirements to ensure they are not lured into credit contracts they cannot afford to repay. The standards include provisions to stop predatory lenders from exploitative practices such as using household items as security for cash loans (Engel, K. amp; McCoy, 2007). Lender and Incentives One has to wonder, why were subprime loans pitched to consumers? They weren t pushed for altruistic purposes; not from the kindness of the heart. The results were inevitable. According to the readings, subprime loans ended with the same result. They were a risk for the consumer as well as the bank backing the loan. There had to be some incentive for the banks; some benefit that is reaped. In this case, it was a monetary benefit. Yield spread premiums is what lenders call them. Consumer groups call them legal kickbacks. YSPs are the cash that mortgage brokers or lenders get for steering a borrower into a home loan with a higher interest rate (Center for Responsible Lending, Yield Spread Premiums (YSPS). However, the Federal Reserve stepped in and regulated these kickbacks. New rules issued by the Federal Reserve Board mean that YSPs are no longer legal. Isolation and solitude are tremendous, effective and beating emotions. They forces the capacity to devastate a people life by overpowering it with despair and murkiness. A short story, A Rose for Emily, by William Faulkner, was initially published on April 30, 1930. William Cuthbert Faulkner was born in New Albany, Mississippi, on September 25, 1897. As he experienced childhood in New Albany, Mississippi, the Southern culture impacted to him. Through his works such a Sartoris (book, 1931), The Sound and The Fury (1929), As I Lay Dying (ballad, 1930), The Sanctuary (1931), and A Famle (1954), he delineated sequentially the rotting Southern culture. • 21. Midsummer Night s Dream Contrast A Midsummer nights Dream is known as one of Shakespeare s most popular and most performed plays worldwide. Although there are many versions of the play, they tend to stay true to the original characters, setting, and them. However in Michael Hoffman s 1999 film version of A Midsummer Night s Dream, he breaks the traditional rules by first changing the setting. Hoffman sends the comedic action from ancient Athens to an imaginary Italian village named Monte Athena during the nineteenth century. In this portrayal of the play, Duke Theseus is nothing but a tired and seemingly unimportant bureaucrat, rather than a victorious hero as shown in the play. On the same note, Hippolyta, Theseus s bride to be, previously referred to as the Queen of the... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... In particular this relates to Puck, who has been transformed from a mischievous fairy to a middle aged lounge lizard. Puck is the closest thing to a protagonist in the play because he is responsible for many of the complications that occur between the four lovers. Similarly, Titania loses much of her previous complexity throughout the film. The play emphasizes the strong bonds of an ancient female friendship that keep Titania from abandoning the Indian boy because she wants to care for a deceased friend s son. Hermia and Helena s lives are also marked by strong friendships although Demetrius who is in love with Hermia is also who Helena has fallen in love with. Hoffman does stay true to the ideal of female friendship shown in the play, which is one of the reasons, why relationship between Hermia, Helena, Hippoltya, and Titinia is understandable. Although, Hoffman didn t change everything when he converted the play to a film, he did change most of the major concepts. It is not certain why he changed much of the play, but one explanation that fits is because he wanted to modernize it. A Midsummer Night s Dream was written in the 1590 s and the film was produced in 1999. Hoffman most likely felt that change was necessary for modern audiences to understand. Her idea of perfection is moral progress, the movement toward a better vision of an object or a person, in order to seek out the reality of something or someone else. Sagere asked that: You say that the great novel is shaped by the vision of the artist I mean, a novelist should have a view point of mature morality ( Sublime and Beautiful Revisited 257). Will you please elaborate? Murdoch answered: I think the fundamental thing which a great novel can t be without is a kind of moral vision, an ability of the writer to judge justly his own general attitude to his society and attitude to his characters. This is what must be deep, must be just, and must be compassionate. The presence of these virtues, the ability to see thing in perspective also implies an ability to express what is funny in the right sort of way. These are ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Taylor Rascher played Simon Bliss and played him perfectly. Rascher s character Simon was a young man who was dramatic and romantic so much so it was almost to the point of ridiculousness. Rascher stole the show in the first act when he was romancing with Michelle Luz, who plays Myra Arundel. Rascher was displaying his love for Michelle Luz (Myra) in the most dramatic of fashions; he was playing the Bliss game of pretending to be in complete love with someone and then a moment later change his mind. Rascher was proclaiming his love with elegant speeches and coddling up next to her and eventually kissing her. Rascher made this scene particularly hilarious because he was completely over the top in typical Bliss fashion. Rascher made his voice more shrill and audible to appear to be more dramatic and create more attention for himself. In the same way, Rascher used grander gestures with his arms (flailing, waving, etc.) to cause a more dramatic effect. The play was well interpreted by all whom were involved. There were some very wealthy passengers as well. The wealthiest in which was John Jacob Astor. Astor was a millionaire who was traveling back to New York with his new wife (Explore Titanic, 2011). Whether you were traveling first, second, or third class, the accommodations were more than pleasing. First class suites contained washrooms, bedrooms, lounges, and additional space for servants. They had their own private and covered Promenade Deck, three cafГ©s, a swimming pool, a Turkish bath, gymnasium and squash court. In first class dining, women wore their most expensive jewelry and most eloquent dresses, the men donned black suits with black tailcoats and white bows. Dinner ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 40. The Patriot Act Analysis The Patriot Act is a piece of legislation that has modified multiple security acts inside the United States government. This was established as a response to the terrorist attacks that took place on 11 Sept 2001. The purpose was to create rules and regulations to help aid in the capture of suspected terrorists as well as to minimize attack risk. When these amendments went into effect, US legislation gave heavy rights to the United Statesgovernment. There are multiple arguments that can be made demonstrating why this Act fails when it comes to being ethical and meaningful not only to the constitution but also to that of basic privileges given to human beings. Legislations, such as unjust detainments, wire taps, and secured information, gave... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Sneak and peek warrants, also called delayed notification warrants, allowed law enforcement to conduct a covert search without informing the suspect of the search until later, (Barth, 2015). This has since created animosity and fear towards the government as people feel that it is invasion of privacy. Alongside the 72 hour detainees and the un warranted wire taps, the government was also given the right to prohibit any third party organization from releasing information that the federal government uses, as a resource to run a search on an individual. While different levels of government can share information to connect the dots , information on suspected terrorists do not have to be shared. This gives the government and advantage over terrorist as it let them go undetected for longer as they gear up to incapacitate terrorists before they can strike (APPSTATE, N.D). Again, this seems like a useful provision, however this also presents issues with individuals who were detained and released under false accusations or incorrect assumptions. The suspected terrorists were set free and found not guilty but have no way of getting information or proof of what happened. Many feel as though this has and could still lead to ... • 41. How Optical Antennas Are An Emerging Concept Within... 1. Introduction Optical antennas are an emerging concept in physical optics. Similar to radio wave and microwave antennas, their purpose is to convert the energy of free propagating radiation to localized energy, and vice versa. Optical antennas exploit the unique properties of metal nanostructures, which behave as strongly coupled plasmas at optical frequencies. Electromagnetic (EM) waves from low radiofrequencies (RF) to high optical frequencies pervade our environment. They interact with matter by coupling directly to the motion of charge carriers. This carrier motion can be associated with characteristic spectral resonances resulting from absorption and emission of EM energy. According to the IEEE Standard Definitions of Terms for Antennas, an antenna is defined as the part of a transmitting or receiving system that is designed to radiate or to receive electromagnetic waves [1]. Depending on the resonance properties, environment, and use, an antenna can be designed in all sizes and shapes including linear dipoles, horns, dishes, apertures, and patches. Despite the different form factors, all antennas operate under the same principle. They mediate the transformation between propagating EM energy and localized or confined energy delivered to a load or emitted from a source via coupling of the EM energy to electron motion. Although originally conceived for radio waves, the antenna definition above notably does not constrain the frequency range of operation. The same ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

They need to be knowledge of codes, procedures and terminology used in public safety dispatching. They also need superior technical skills because they use radio, electronic, computer and telecommunications systems that are generally not available to the public. 911 operations supervisors are continually training to maintain awareness of changing dispatching, public safety and radio and telecommunications regulations. This means that they must know the Federal Communications Commission s (FCC) requirements for public safety dispatch centers. 911 operations supervisors must have strong pedagogical skills because they continual train new hires and re train existing employees. Special Employment Conditions Public safety agencies have very high hiring and employment standards. For example, 911 dispatchers must obtain passing scores on comprehensive dispatcher exams. This typically involves a computer based test that shows real world situations, such as injured people and car accidents. The exam will ask the candidate to select the best course of action, which may not always be ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 43. Persuasive Essay On Cecil The Lion Cecil the Lion Cecil the Lion was a well known 13 year old male lion who once resided in the Hwange game reserve in Zimbabwe. The lion was lured away from the sanctuary with the use of food out of the game reserve. Cecil was then killed by an illegal party of big game hunters. The man who killed Cecil was identified by conservation groups as American, Dr. Walter Palmer, a dentist in Minneapolis, Minnesota. (CBS 1) James Palmers, the huntingguide, and a landowner whose property is adjacent to the Hwange game reserve, are facing poaching charges. The two men were both granted 1,000 dollars each of bail money.(CBS 19) In 2008, Palmer had been in trouble for poaching, and plead guilty to a license violation after killing a black bear.(Independent 1) Relevantly, it shows that Palmer is a known poacher and has no... Cecil was also being studied up until his death by Oxford University as part of a larger study conducted by the university. The study had already received nearly half a million dollars in contributions. Cecil was shot by Walter Palmer with an arrow. Then forty hours later, after the lion s suffering and misery, Palmer finished off Cecil with a rifle. (CBS 10) After the report, Palmer closed his office in Bloomington, Minnesota and went into hiding for the time being after the murder of Cecil the lion. Cecil was then found by the Zimbabwe conservation Task Force beheaded and skinned. Cecil s six lion cubs will most likely be killed by another adult lion according to David Salmoni, Animal Planet s predator expert. (CBS 9) The aforementioned events are why lion hunting should be outlawed and illegal. • 45. The Effectiveness Of Brand Placement Purpose This article investigates the effectiveness of brand placement in movies. Brand placement is an advertising technique used by companies to promote their products through a non traditional advertising technique, usually through appearances in film, television, or other media (Product Placement, n.d.). Previous studies have shown that not all brand placements are equally effective. Early studies have shown mixed results regarding the consumer s ability to remember the brand appearing in the film or television. Additionally, placement has shown weak or non existent results towards brand attitude. The authors of this study investigated the interaction of prominence (how prominently the brand is represented in the movie) and plot connection (how well the placement is related to the movie s story line) on actual moviegoer s recognition of brands and their attitude towards them (Dens, DePelsmacker, Wouters, Purnawirawan, 2012). Methodology The authors indicated that their research was one of the first to study the impact of brand placement characteristics on brand attitude, and the effect of brand recognition in this process. They conducted a thorough literature review and developed eight hypotheses regarding the following: the effects of prominence on brand recognition and attitude, the impact of plot connection on brand recognition and attitude, the interaction between prominence and plot connection, and the mediating role of brand recognition in brand attitude ... • 46. Bach Vs Handel Essay I ask you this: What would are world be like if everyone looked the same, acted the same, and even had the same interests? It would be a gray place full of nothing but dull blobs that were once people. Now you see why being different is not only good but important in our society. Even people of the same talent can have a vast chasm of contradictions between them. Of course, that is why I am here. To tell you of two great composers, Johannes Sebastian Bach and George Frideric Handel, and the lives they led. They both had a taste for music, yet their preferences lay in different styles. They were raised in good families, but their parents did not have the same visions for their sons. They both had spirit, but opposite spirits in many ways. Even these two, who are close in what they do and who they are, have their distinctions. Yet they also have many similarities because they lived in the same time and were both well known for their careers. To begin with, they were born into somewhat wealthy families. Bach was more... Bach was more technical in his music. He loved order, and it showed through his work. Handel was all about freedom and passion. He made his music swirl through the air like a whirlwind: light and unrestrained. In conclusion, there is interest and boredom. There is gravity and levity. There is wonder and amusement. And there is power. Handel and Bach. Bach and Handel. When you think of these two in the same light, you can plainly see that great chasm of contradictions spanning the void between them. However, you can also see a bridge settled over the huge expanse. The bridge connects the two and portrays the middle ground. The treaty. The agreement. The oath to be taken by those who love music. • 47. Brachial Plexus Injury The brachial Plexus is the network of nerves that sends signals from the spine to the shoulder, arm, and hand. The nerve fibers within this network run from the spine where it passes through the cervico axillary canal where it finally reaches the axilla. It is formed in the cervical and thoracic parts in the spine, (C5 C8, T1). An injuryoccurs to this when the nerves are aggravated. This could mean they become stressed, compressed, or ripped away from the spinal cord. Some common injuriesthat cause this is in contact sports such as football, basketball, hockey, or lacrosse.
