The Failure Of Vocation Limited Essay
1IDENTIFY THE PROBLEM This essay exposits the failure of Vocation Limited to draft how
might a more appropriate application of the eight ASX Corporate Governance Principles (ASX,
2014, p. 4) have conceivably prevented the failure. Corporate failure is referred to insolvency in
Australia, which means the inability to meet the due debt obligations, resulting in business
suspension (Michaela, Patricia, Susan, Kimberly, Matthew, 2012, p. 365). Corporate governance
denotes to the system by which corporations are directed and controlled (Michaela et al., 2012, p.
188). Moreover, Hamilton and Micklethwait (2006, p. 1) postulates that the six causes of
corporate failure are the most representative with irrespective of sector or geography. Therefore,
by applying the six main causes (Hamilton Micklethwait, 2006, p. 1) and the eight principles
(ASX, 2014, p. 4), the scope of the essay is limited to the company prospective without
consideration of external issues. Additionally, this essay accesses only the public available
information of Vocation. 2DETERMINE RELEVANT INFORMATION As vocational based
training outsourced by the governments, Vocation pied in pocketing supporting funds and students
were endowed education with HELP loans (Joe Simon, 2014, p. 2). Vocation established through
three considerable RTOs then first listed in ASX (Vocation, 2014a, p. 2 14) and expanded
organically through merger and acquisition till July 2014 (Ferrier, 2015, p. 14; Vocation, 2014a, p.

For example, Facebook is one of most frequently used social networking site, which has more
than 800 million active users and over 40 billion pieces of contents like web links, news, blog

become much needed one,[4],[5]. At present, OSN provides each user with a user wall, where
users and friends can post content and leave messages. Subsequently, users can not only upload
content into their own or other spaces, but also tag other users, who appear in the content. Each
tag acts an explicit reference that links to a user s space. To protect the user data, at present
scenario OSNs require users to be system and policy administrator for regulating their data. A
simple access control mechanism allowing users to govern access to information contained in their
spaces, but has no control over the data, which presented outside their spaces. For example, if a
user posts a comment in a friend s space, she/he cannot specify, who should view the comment. In
another situation, when a user uploads a photo and tags friends who appear in the photo, he/she
cannot state any privacy norms about the photo. In this paper, we propose a solution to sophisticate
collaborative management of shared data in OSNs.Based on these sharing patterns,

A Separate Peace Essay
As Carl Jung once stated, Man s task is to become conscious of the contents that press upward from
the unconscious . To reach a peaceful reconciliation, one must learn to embrace two distinct
elements of their personality, the Persona and Shadow. Likewise, in the bildungsroman, A Separate
Peace, author John Knowles depicts the common rivalry between young adolescents, and how they
struggle to accept their identity and the relationship between their unconscious self. Gene, a Devon
High student, becomes best friends with Finny and grows jealous of his ostensibly flawless friend,
causing him to make a life changing decision. His struggles to reach an inner balance between his
Persona and Shadow lead to the ultimate death of Finny. Gene s transformation involves the
changes of his mask and Shadow from guilt and jealousyto pride and tolerance which results in the
later acceptance of the light and dark parts of himself, allowing him to truly reach adulthood and a
state of peace.
Essentially, Gene s conflict begins as he develops feelings of envy towards Finny s outgoing
personality and appealing charisma, which causes him to hide behind a persona in the one sided
rivalry he has with Finny. When Gene flunks a test for the first time, he finds an excuse to justify
his failure, concluding that Finny purposely interrupted his studies by inviting him to the beach.
Gene reasons, Sure, he wanted to share everything with me, especially his procession of D s in
every subject.

Literature Review On Abacus
CHAPTER 2
LITERATURE REVIEW
2.1 Introduction
2.1.1 What is Abacus?
Greek words abax or abakon with the meaning table or tablet are the origin of the word Abacus
(Schools, 2007; Young, 2004). According to Young (2004) abacus is a mathematical device or tool
used by the people for performing addition, subtraction, multiplication and division.
Far before the invention of modern computers, abacus has been widely used especially by the
Chinese people for the calculation purposes. The very first abacus was invented around 500
B.C.(UCMAS, 2007). However the modern abacus that we know today was the one been used in
China started around 1300 A.D.(UCMAS, 2007).
According to Young (2004), there are three main forms of abacus that we are still... Show more

The main advantage of mobile educational game is that it enables the users to learn in non
classroom environment such as home and public areas (Kim et al., n.d. ). Besides, mobile games
are interactive because mobile games enabled players to interact with the games environment and
thus make the games more interesting and the players have the sense of engagement which will
draw their attention (Miangah Nezarat2, 2012). Besides, mobile games help people to save
money as they do no need to purchase an expensive console or computer in order to play the
games (Paper, 2009). Furthermore, mobile phone is convenient to bring around and thus increase
the mobility (Shameem, 2012). Mobility as mentioned above is the main reason why people play
mobile games as compared to other digital gaming (Fritsch et al., n.d.).
2.4.3 Disadvantages
The main disadvantages of mobile educational games is the distraction factors. When children plays
with the mobile phones, they will face the distraction with the incoming calls or messages and also
they will also tend to play with casual and entertainment based games as compared to educational
games when they play alone without the guidance of the parents (Fritsch et al., n.d.).

Post Puberty Estrogen
Estrogen
Estrogen is a steroid hormone which plays a crucial role in growth and maturation of both sexes. In
the female reproductive system, estrogen targets tissues such as mammary glands, uterus, and
ovaries. Bone formation has a significant positive relationship with estrogen from puberty to
maturation and beyond (Clark et al., 1992). Post puberty estrogen is mainly synthesized and
released from the ovaries in females. Through binding proteins or estrogen receptors (ER) found
within the nucleus, estrogen is retained and affects specific target tissues throughout the body.
Binding of estrogen to its receptor causes conformational change which in turn allows binding to
chromatin and proceed with transcription of specific target genes (Murdoch ... Show more content

1993). Soybeans have the highest amount of isoflavones across food found in a vegetarian diet;
isoflavones are considered phytoestrogens. Phyotestrogens are plant derived non steroidal
compounds with structure similar to estrogen and cause an estrogenic effect (Xu et al., 1998).
Isoflavones have shown to have an antagonistic effect on endogenous estrogen while also being
able to cause biological action (Morito et al., 2002). Soybean isoflavones have shown to have the
same affinity to receptors ERa and ERB as estrogen (Morito et al., 2001). The binding of exogenous
phytoestrogens in the form of isoflavones cause a reduction in endogenous estrogen synthesized.
Studies have shown the diminishing effects of isoflavones on estrogen. In an earlier study it was
concluded that endogenous estrogen levels were 15% lower amongst subjects with the highest
amount of soy protein intake compared to those with low soy protein intake (Wu et al., 2002).
This negative effect of soybean isoflavones on endogenous estrogen may lead to a disruption in
growth of the long bone at the epiphyseal plate. In order to find the correlation and relationship of
soybean isoflavones (a soy vegetarian diet) on pre pubertal epiphyseal plate growth on humans, a
mouse model will be used. Bone formation has been mediated by isoflavones with precipitous
mineralization of long bone at the epiphyseal growth plate (Morris et al., 2006). This study aims to
find whether isoflavones from a high soybean vegetarian diet plays a role in prepubescent human
females at the epiphyseal growth plate by using mice as models. Estrogen receptors will be
quantitatively assessed in order to find whether isoflavones have an upregulation of those receptors.
Lastly, an evaluation of the epiphyseal growth plate will be performed by hematoxylin and eosin
staining and immunohistochemical

Biography Of Daniel Boone
Daniel Boone was born on November 2, 1734, near Reading, Pennsylvania. In 1755, he left
home on a military expedition during the French and Indian War. In 1769, Boone led an
expedition and discovered a trail to the far west though the Cumberland Gap. In 1775, he settled
an area he called Boonesborough in Kentucky, but faced Indian resistance. On September 26,
1820, Boone died in Femme Osage Creek, Missouri. American explorer and frontiersman Daniel
Boone was raised in a log cabin in Exeter Township, near Reading, Pennsylvania. His father,
Squire Boone, Sr., was a blacksmith and a weaver who met his wife, Sarah Morgan, in
Pennsylvania after emigrating from England. So much did Daniel love that dark and bloody ground

survival skills. Boone was given his first rifle when he was 12 years old. He quickly proved
himself a talented woodsman and hunter, boldly shooting his first bear when most children his
age were too frightened. At age 15, Boone moved with his family to Rowan County, North
Carolina, on the Yadkin River, where he started his own hunting business. In 1755, Boone left

escaping the French and Indian ambush on horseback. Daniel Boone is one of the most widely
known American frontiersmen. Boone s fame stems from his exploits during the exploration and
settlement of Kentucky. He first arrived in the future state in 1767 and spent the better part of the
next 30 years exploring and settling the lands of Kentucky, including carving out the Wilderness

A Worldwide Problem Of Global Warming
Electric Cars There is a worldwide problem of Global Warming. It is increasing day after day,
harming our planet s atmosphere by reducing the strength of the ozone layer. Global warming is
putting all basic human needs in jeopardy. There are various reasons behind global warming.
One of the major reasons is fuel engine cars and trucks we use in our everyday lives. Fuel engine
cars leave a trail of unhealthy monoxide gas as the result of combustion in the engine. Carbon
Monoxide is one of many gases which is harmful to the ozone layer. Global warmingis already
causing high temperatures, rising sea levels, floods, and droughts. To help reduce the effects of
the fuel engine cars on our environment we should start using electric cars. Electric cars run on
rechargeable batteries which do not leave a trail of carbon monoxide. Electric cars are fuel
efficient vehicles which use less gas to travel the same distance as their less efficient counterparts.
When we burn less fuel, we generate fewer emissions. When emissions go down, the pace of
global warming slows. Cleaner fuels produce fewer emissions when they are burned. Some fuels
such as those made from biofuels can reduce emissions by 80 percent compared to gasoline, and
cleaner extraction techniques can ensure that dirty fuel like oil doesn t get dirtier. Electric cars
will also help many countries stop fighting over fuel and also give countries independence. Electric
cars should be globalized so that it helps create a

The Heroes Of Greek And Roman Mythology
The heroes in Greek and Roman mythology had the characteristics of violent masculinity and
bravery, the ideology of a patriarchal society in which all the men were elite than the women.
According to Kampmen in Gender Theory in Roman Art, Roman society evolved in such a way as
to enable elite men to establish and maintain power over everyone else, such men included heroes
like Hercules, Achilles, and Pentheus (1996, p.152). They represented the elite males who had
stable physical attributes that emphasized their masculinity and heroism. Heroes like the ones
mentioned above had been idolized and worshiped with cults due to their works in helping their
societies to fight monsters, the gods also favored them. Gender is emphasized by one s appearance,
dressing being the primary attribute. The mythic narratives of Achilles on Scyros, Hercules and
Omphale and lastly Pentheus and Dionysusgive a rather strange definition on the characteristics of
heroes when they crossdress. In this essay, I shall discuss how male heroes characteristics become
subverted than emphasized due to the myths of cross dressing.
The armor of a hero plays an important role in catalyzing his heroism. It served as an object of
strength, virility, and masculinity. The armor of Achilles was according to the Greeks suggested a
new crucial role in the hero s social reintegration after Hektor stripped Patroklos of Achilles old
armor, the hero undergoes what this critic describes as a rebirth into

Essay on Arthur Mervyn
Charles Brockden Brown s novel, Arthur Mervyn, has been read by people across America from
the late eighteenth century up until today. Brown targeted many audiences in this novel but there
is one in particular that not only had an impact on people then, but can still captivate many in
today s society. That specific group involves people who are fighting an incurable illness, such as
the Yellow Fever, as described in the book. Although it was written in the late 1700 s, people in the
twenty first century can still relate to the characters in the book, and understand what they were
feeling at that time. The goal of this paper is to show that Brown s main intended audience was

I felt as if I inhaled a poisonous and subtle fluid...some fatal influence seemed to seize upon my

make assumptions about things when they don t really know what is going on. This is still the
case in today s time, when people assume the cause is one thing when it could be something
completely different. Mervyn seemed to know at this point that he was destined to die. Most of the
fever victims had no hopes of living once they contracted the illness. He later found sanctuary in
the home of Welbeck, in hopes of breathing his last there, stating, All I sought was the privilege of

The Yellow Fever is no different than many incurable diseases that we are fighting in today s

Animals In Captivity
Should animals live in their natural environment, or should they live in man made environment?
Some people believe animals should live in captivity, but animals that live in the wild get to live
more naturally. They should live in the wild instead of living in captivity, so they are not
tampered with by humans as much. It would keep the environment the way it should be. If you
take predators out of an environment, the environment will be over run with other animals
because the other animals population will not be controlled. Animals should live in the wild
and not in captivity. Animals should live in the wild including endangered animals, instead of
captivity. Some people believe animals should be taken care of in captivity because it is to
dangerous for them in the wild. Animals do not truly belong in a cage. It is not fair for the
animal to live in captivity because the animal would not be able to roam freely like it could if it
lived in the wild. If an animal can not make it in the wild, it needs to either adapt to the wild or
die which is a way of the population controlling itself. Animals are meant to live in the wild.
Once you put a animal in captivity and then decide to release it, the animal will probably die
because it does not know how to hunt for food, and will not be able to defend itself against other
animals. If animals do not have enough room to roam around, they can become sick and depressed.

Essay On Female Characters In The Odyssey
The epic poem The odyssey was recorded in the 8th century BCE or c.750 BCE which was
during the Homeric time period. The Odyssey began 10 years after the Trojan war ended which is
during the Mycenaean time period. Homers telling of the odyssey has the main audience of males
that lived in this time period as females and males were not equal in Homeric society. Male
characters were more important and written with more description than the female characters which
was shown throughout the epic poem in the events of Odysseusreturning home to Ithaca and his
son Telemachus becoming the paterfamilias.
The novella The Penalopiad written by Margaret Atwood in 2005, is a retelling of The Odysseyby
Homer. Because of the odyssey being mainly written for a male audience Atwood has retold the
epic poem in a modern day way with the main character focus being Odysseus wife Penelope and

I learned to speak Spanish at twelve when my parents threw me in a Mexican public school. I

The Discovery Of The Museum Curator
Becoming the museum curator is an important title, they pick and choose the 5% of the total art,
the museum has to be viewed by the public. The curator must be wise and make exhibits that flow
as well as get the point across to the visitors coming to see the museum. Curating this exhibit, I
have chosen three works of ancient Greek art that will tell a story and inform visitors about three
of the most well known Greek gods. A statue of Zeusfrom the first A.D, a Kylix of Hadesand
Persephone, and the Chariot of Poseidon. This collection of ancient Greek artwork shows the sons
of the titan Chrono s, and it depicts them in their natural habitat.
Hades is the oldest of the titan Cronus sons and best associated with Satan from the Cristian
religion. Hades was supposed to inherit all of the lands above, but with an unfortunate draw of
the straws with his brothers Poseidon, and Zeus. Hades was bound to the land down under
known as Hades. For the exhibit the museum has chosen a wonderful ancient Greek Kylix, this
depicts the daughter of Zeus and goddess of harvest/ Queen of the underworld Persephone, and
the king of the underworld Hades. Hades and Persephone banqueting. On a long couch of which
the legs are partly seen, Hades, supporting a large keras on his left, holding up a fluted phiale in
his right, reclines to right, leaning on two embroidered cushions . This artwork depicts the love of
the cold blooded god of the underworld and his beautiful wife. Hades actually fell in

Gender Roles And Gender Role Stereotypes
Gender role stereotypes have a negative impact on society by media, movies, commercials, for
instance, Kylie Jenner is a perfect example in which she felt insecure about her body and facial
features to where she was under the constant scrutiny of the media comparing her features to the
likes of her sisters which are, full lips, large back side and hips and petite nose as well as arched
eyebrows.
For example, youth girls are seen and reprimanded to play with Barbie dolls, babying equipment
and supplies, nursing tools and adorable plush dogs and teddy bears, on the other hand boys are
seen playing big and bad wrestlers and G.I. Joe action figures with toy guns and knives, soccer
balls, basket balls, and baseballs things that would be outlandish and unusual for girls to be seen
playing with. This also sets a bad example for teenagers and adults and makes them want to do the
same because these are the people they look up to and want to follow in their footsteps.
Meanwhile, movies give off a negative effect for example, in the Walt Disneyfilm, Snow White
and the Seven Dwarfs Snow White is cast out by a jealous step mother who only cares about
superficial beauty. Snow White ends up cooking and cleaning for the seven men dwarfs , while
their off at work and despite the fact that she s been warned of evil, she s easily tricked by the witch
in disguise, of course in the end, she gets saved by a man.
Everything from certain ethnic groups and cultures have a gender role

The Origin Of The Bible Essay
After a number of years have passed through the church, one would wonder how we can be
certain that the right books make up the Bible. We have all of these translations and
interpretations of Scripture, but how did we get the Bible itself? These are the many questions
that make up many non believers and possibly even many non believers today as well. I can
speak for many church goers on the contrary, that have grown up in the church and they have not
thought about the idea of the origin of the Bible. Either way, Christian or atheist, it is important
to understand the origin of one s beliefs. This leads to the basis of the foundation of why a
Christian believes the truth of God s word and then is able to faith their faith with others. To begin
our research, it is important to understand and define some of the terms that are displayed
throughout the text. First off, the origin of the word canon comes from the Latin word canon. This
was originally from the Greek word kanon. When translated into English this word is referred to
as a standard or type of rule that is found in 2 Corinthians 10:13 and again in Galatians 6:16. It is
important to note that when Paul is writing, he is not referring to the canon of Scripture. This word
came into be for the canon of scripture at a much later date when the Christian church called kanon
stood for the rule of faith and revealed truth. In the fourth century, the church referred to the
Scriptures of both the Old Testaments and the

alternatives are combined social and technical alternatives hence, the technical terminology. These
are categorised; initially, by their fulfilment of objectives and secondly by costs, resources and

Essay about Communication within groups
There are many different kinds of groups that exist between college students that deal with
communication they range from sports teams to many community or social groups. The type of
organizations that are mostly found in many colleges today are Greek letter organizations. In this
paper I will exploring communication within the realm of sororities. First, I am going to start with
the history of Sororities, then I am going to write about how important it communication is during
what sororities call the pledge process. Furthermore I am going to tell about the different things that
sororities have, such as the symbols, colors and different things that may deal with communication.

There are different types of sororities. There are four basic types of Greek letter organizations:
social, professional, academic or honorary, and service. Of these, social Greek letter organizations
are most popular (Encarta). The first social sorority started in 1851 by women at Wesleyan College
in Macon, Georgia. The women founded the Adelphean Society, which later became a Greek letter
sorority, Alpha Delta Pi. Other early Greek letter sororities for women included Pi Beta Phi,
established in 1867 at Monmouth College, in Monmouth, Illinois, and Kappa Alpha Theta,
established in 1870 at DePauw University (formally Indiana Asbury College) in Greencastle,
Indiana (Encarta).
Social sororities contribute to the social development of members through organized social events
and service projects. Many chapters maintain houses on or near the campus where members can
meet and hold social functions. Social sororities are known for their parties, dances, and other
social activities (Encarta) . Many sororities encourage those interested ladies to go out and get to
know people , and members of the sorority itself. Given the minimum requirement that pledges be

Lesbian Identity Politics and Associated Organizations Essay
Identity politics were a major part of social reform in the Sixties and Seventies. Yet, the advent of
identity politic reform originates in the Fifties, a decade that saw the African American Civil Rights
Movement start to gain momentum. On the heels of the Civil Rights movement, we also see the
Women s Liberation Movement begin to gain steam, shortly thereafter followed by the Gay
LiberationMovement. And as an offshoot of these reform movements, we observe the dawn of
lesbian identity politicsa movement very much its own amongst its predecessors. One sect would

in the Combahee River Collective, experienced very similar discrimination in Civil Rights
campaigns, especially groups like the Black Panthers. Just like Jay, many African American women
were used as sexual remuneration to men who did good work within their organizations. This
patriarchy, antithetic to the goals of feminism, was the undoubted enemy of both these lesbian
organizations usurping it became one clear goal. The Combahee River Collective, though, did not
feel separate from African American men concerning race, yet, felt doubly oppressed by white
patriarchy. Understanding that they connected with black men racially, yet struggled with them
sexually, almost supplements the idea that white men who controlled government and economy
were the ultimate oppressor. They did not feel they were separate, but rather, just opposed to black
men along patriarchal lines. Inversely, the Collective connected with white lesbians against
patriarchy, but were subjected to hierarchy within feminism as well as lesbianism. Secondly, we
see that if well known reformists were not male, they were heterosexual, the epitome being Betty
Friedan. This was the reason for the more specific goal of the two groups: battling hierarchy in

I am writing to request that you vote for H.J.RES.114: Authorization for Use of Military Force

and prioritizing the states overseas assets by deploying troops to rid Iraq of weapons of mass
destruction and to bring forth democracyto the Iraqi people. I wholeheartedly support your voting
record, and as the representative of the American people of the Nation s capitol, I believe your
vote is especially symbolic.
Many in the international community are against American military intervention on Iraqi soil. They
suggest that we either send in United Nations investigators to find out more about the weapons of
mass destruction or work with other countries to establish some sort of sanctions. But I know there
is no time to waste and I must immediately deploy three hundred thousand troops to be able to
declare Mission Accomplish as soon as possible and with limited American and Iraqi casualties.
Others say that we should do nothing on the basis that invading another country is destructive of
human life, costs substantial amounts of money, undermines our moral authority, could ruin our
international reputation, and violates the sovereignty of Iraq. We the United States and me myself,
George W. Bush, lead this so called Free World and have the duty to intervene and the right to

What has infection obtained to do with joint affliction? By and large, a healthful immune

Explanations of joint discomfort as a result of chronic infection The reasons of persistent

Viewpoints In The Things They Carried
Writing from different viewpoints allows the author, Tim O Brien, to express himself in a more
comfortable manner. Written in this viewpoint, the story is read as a tale instead of an
autobiography and the author becomes more distant with the story like he is looking into it rather

O Brien most likely wrote parts of the story in third person because it is traditional and benefits the
reader by allowing them to get to know multiple characters rather than just the narrator. The Things
They Carried and Speaking of Courage are two of the more personal chapters in the novel and by
writing them in third person, the reader may feel more involved in the story. They can also learn

Genre Example Of A Brochure Sample
Introduction
The genre samples for the proposal of a new grocery store near the MNSU campus will be
explained below. An email, brochure, questionnaire and a flowchart are among the genre examples
explained. Each will give a brief explanation behind choosing that specific genre example.
Email
The first Genre Sample I chose, was to write an email to Eric Anderson, the mayor of the Mankato
City Council. I decided to write to Eric Anderson because I assumed he would be the best person to
contact about starting a proposal for a new grocery store near the Minnesota State University
Mankato campus. Eric Anderson could then give me some pointers on continuing this proposal
and what I should do next in being able to get this approved for construction. Within the email to
Eric Anderson, I stated the main purpose in writing this email to him. I proceeded to state the
reasoning why there is a need for a grocery store near the MNSU campus. Finally, I asked him for
any feedback on the proposal and that I looked forward to hearing back to him. At the end of the
email I tried to be as professional as possible and listed my name and then some contact
information of mine as well.
Brochure
The brochure I created will be available to the entire Mankato Community along with all the
students at Minnesota State University Mankato. This brochure will be available at many
locations throughout Mankato, with a major emphasis of them being around the MNSU campus.
Some specific spots people will be able to find these brochures are on the MNSU campus in the
CSU and surrounding business of the MNSU campus, like Kwik Trip as an example.
I created this brochure to show the reason why we should have a grocery store near the MNSU
campus. I wanted the brochure to be concise, but also wanted it to provide enough information to
the readers. I added some fun colors to the brochure to make it a little more visually appealing. I
also added some pictures throughout the brochure to give the reader some visual aids of the
proposed grocery store plan.
Questionnaire
The questionnaire will be given out to any and every student, first year freshman to a graduate
student, who is walking through the CSU at Minnesota State University Mankato. The

During the late 18 centuries, society became more aware of serial murders. At first, the term of
serial murder was only referred to men with specific causes and motives that influenced them to

However, years later, women did fall into this category of serial murders but defying the main

Dugesia Spp Research Paper
Dugesia spp., also known as planaria is a small flat dark brown worm of varying sizes around
0.3 2 cm long and 1 2 mm wide (Palmer and Fowler, 1975 as cited by Cha, 2001). Although they
are small, they are hermaphroditic (Maule, 2006). The middle of the body is darker in color
with tiny spots. The body consists of an arrow shaped head and a long unsegmented body that
narrows as it reaches the posterior end (T. Huang, biology student, personal communications).
Midway down the ventral side of its body, the pharynx is a tube like structure that protrudes out
for feeding (Cha, 2001). The body is smooth and stretches in contracting and expanding
movements as the Dugesia spp. travels around a flat surface (T. Huang, biology student,
personal communications). The two side parts of the arrow that extends out of its head are
sensory organs, the auricles (Cha, 2001). The auricles help sense water currents so that the
Dugesia spp. is aware of the direction of water flow (Kriska and Gyorgy, 2013). Dugesia spp. has
tiny eyes called eyespots located on the dorsal side of its arrow head. The eyespots can detect
light and are extremely sensitive to light (Cha, 2001). Dugesia spp. lives in freshwater bodies like

The By Daniel Quinn s Ishmael, And Plato s Allegory Of...
Captivity is a subject that has been discussed thoroughly by many people. Captivity is the main
concept touched in Daniel Quinn s novel, Ishmael, and Plato s Allegory of the Cave. Plato makes
the compelling argument that people are captives of the world of ignorance. Ishmael complements
Plato s allegory by agreeing that there are two groups of people, that it would be difficult to
distinguish the truth, and that people are being deceived. Plato and Ishmaelwere both able to
indicate that there are two groups of people. In his allegory, Plato had described a cave with
human beings living in it, they cannot move, and can only see before them..between the fire and
the prisoners there is a raised way.. (DiYanni 406). He said that these people were prisoners who
were left to believe that the shadows casted before them were the real truth. But the second
group was people out of the cave. Similarly, Ishmael described that there were groups of people
in the cave and out of it. The world of the Takers is one vast prison, and except for a handful of
Leavers scattered across the world.. (Quinn 251). Ishmael has defined these two groups as Takers
and Leavers. The Takers being those who are chained in the cave believing the world was made
for their conquering shadow. To further explain the difference between people in the cave and
people out of it, Quinn uses modern culture. You call yourselves civilized and all the rest

The planning and execution system (PES) contains an abstraction layer for controlling automated
processes, as well as providing the rest of the system access to information generated by the
automated processes, such as sensor readings and asset status

Debate on Taxes Essay
Controversy will always follow humans where ever we go. Humans have argued over many issues
for centuries, often times with no conclusion or correct answer ever in sight. One common issue
that has been debated since the early 1900s is whether or not the more wealthy individuals in a
society should be taxed more heavily than their poorer counterparts. Many have argued over the
pros and cons of the taxationof richer people, but when one looks at it objectively, the pros far
outweigh the cons. Not only do the pros outweigh the cons, but a question one must ask oneself is
whether or not prosperous people really need that extra money? Richer people should be taxed

The encouragement of economic disparity because of these tax cuts is bad for America. The US
should be aiming for more social and economic equality for everybody. Tax cuts can slow down
the economy by putting more money into the wealthy peoples hands and giving less to the
people who need it. Another reason that the wealthy should pay more taxes is because they owe
it to society to do so. Every person wouldn t be where they are today without the people who
helped raise them and the society they were raised in. In The Great Gatsby , Nick Carraway is
disgusted with Tom and Daisy, Tom and Daisy they smashed up things and creatures and then
retreated back into their money or their vast carelessness, or whatever it was that kept them
together, and let other people clean up the mess they had made (Fitzgerald 179). Nick is repelled
by how Tom and Daisy, with all of their money, would do nothing to help the society or other
people. Successful people are largely successful due to the society and conditions that they were
raised in. Without the better conditions that they were luckily born into, it is logical to question
just how successful someone in the top one or ten percent could have been. In a recent
commencement speech last summer at Princeton, author Michael Lewis stated Recognize that if
you have had success, you also have had luck and with luck comes obligation. You owe a debt,
and not just to your Gods. You owe a debt to the unlucky . In a

Camelot-Personal Narrative Essay
Joan seemed to accept this answer. And how long have you lived here in Camelot? she asked.
This was the question Perceval always dreaded, because it often forced him to discuss his past,
which he hated to do. I ve lived here a little over ten years. I lived on a small farm on the outskirts
of Camelot until I was nine years old. I lived there with my parents and my sister. That is, until
King Urien s men raided our village and killed my family. All three of them, he said, his voice
catching ever so slightly before continuing. Owen, another farmer and family friend was a
widower. He took me in and has been a father to me ever since. He had no children so it was just
the two of us. Much of my time was taken up by farming chores, but Owen knew I dreamed of
being a knight and made sure I continued on with my sword lessons. He s a good man. ... Show

I m all too familiar with Urien s ways, Joan remarked, sounding chocked up. My father and I

toward Perceval. I am so sorry about your family, Perceval. What a terrible thing for a child to go

them had never stopped hurting. My father was Yale, my mother Madlen, and my sister Deryn.
Beautiful names, said Joan. All three of them. She reached out and touched Perceval s jaw with

Euphemism And Racist Language Examples
Introduction
As much as language helps to communicate, but as the same time this same language gives room
for misunderstanding and miscommunicating. The common and major barriers are these six:
ClichГ©, Jargon, Slang, Sexist and Racist Language, Euphemisms and Doublespeak.
ClichГ©, Jargon and Slang
ClichГ© is an overused word or phrase that has lost its originality and interest overtime. It loses its
impact on the receiver because they avoid the use of the common meaning and at the same time it
doesn t focus on the precise usage of the word or phrase.
Example: At the end of the day said during a business meeting setting might cause misunderstanding
base on the fact that the receiver might interpret that as the literal meaning of the end of that day or

Example: the most common Jargon we all refer to when thinking about a normal standard working
job is the famous 9 to 5 ; which stands for the standard work day.
Slang is a different way than the usual to say or express words. ItВґs close to jargon; it may be a
freshly invented word or a traditional one with various intent or effect.
Example: A common slang I heard about in an American TV series was how workers referred to
CEO, COO, CFO... and so on as the c level workers to refer to the high senior workers in the
management.
Sexist and Racist Language, Euphemisms, Doublespeak
Sexist and racist language is a group of slangs joined together to belittle or insult people of
different groups, origin and culture. Today these languages are violation of policies and
discriminatory laws.
Example: these types of slangs referred as being sexist or racist, unfortunately are present in our
everyday lives and all over the world. A common example is referred to people who travel from
place to place or simply are nomad as

The Global Population Of The United Nations Essay
The United Nations estimates that by 2076, the global population will be nearly 11 billion
people. Currently, the global population is slightly below 7.5 billion people, which means that in
60 years the amount of people on the Earth will increase by roughly 3.5 billion people. Living
accommodations will have to change for this large increase in population, resulting in smaller and
more cramped homes. Large cities will have to not only build more apartment complexes, but also
build them taller in order to accommodate more people. At this point in time, the technology is not
available to allow an extra 3.5 billion people adequate living conditions. However, the future
generations will be able to advance technology enough to figure out a solution. Moore s Law
observes that every two years, the number of transistors in an integrated circuit doubles. In
simpler terms, it says that the processing power for computers doubles every two years. This
indicates that the future holds many technological advancements, and sixty years from now the
technology used in homes will be drastically more advanced than the technology used in homes
today. As a result, all 11 billion people will be able to live comfortably. The home of the future
will look much different than the homes of today. It will be able to perform many more tasks and
will be much more than just a buildingthat a person owns and sleeps in. Right now, both the
population in cities and the property prices in cities keep

Branched Chain Amino Acid As A Supplement For Long...
Branched Chain Amino Acid as a Supplement for Long Duration Exercise
Introduction
Branched Chain Amino Acids (BCAAs) are composed of three essential amino acids including
leucine, isoleucine, and valine. They are unique in that they are predominantly metabolized outside
of the liver in the skeletal muscle. BCAAs make up 35 40% of the amino acid pool in the body and
exist in high concentrations in skeletal muscle tissue (Shimomura et al, 2006). While the
supplemental dosage is dependent upon on the type of exercise,, body composition, and dietary
intake, a standard dosage of the combination of BCAAs is 20g, of leucine, isoleucine, and valine.
Other ratio combinations are available as well as individual supplement products of leucine and
isoleucine. BCAA supplementation is often taken before, during, and after exercise. It has been
observed that BCAAs potentiate the effects of exercise by their anabolic processes on protein
metabolism by increasing the rate of muscle protein synthesis and decreasing the rate of muscle
protein breakdown (Karlsson et al., 2004). Moreover, it has been theorized that BCAAs may
improve performance, reduce muscle fatigue, and feelings of muscle soreness.
Review of Literature
Various studies have demonstrated that BCAAs promote activation of protein synthesis, reduced
muscle degradation, and reduce perceived feelings of muscle fatigue. All human studies reviewed
used randomized, double blind, within subjects cross over design conducted

A Long History Of Unequal Treatment Among Ethnic Minority...
Introduction
In the United States, there is a long history of unequal treatment among ethnic minority groups,
particularly for African Americans. Unfortunately, this injustice also appears in education.
Sociologists have affirmed the importance of education in shaping the economic and social
prospects of individuals. As all communities in the United States have been diversified, it becomes
crucial to recognize and properly deal with diversity within the classroom. All studnets should be
guaranteed to have equal opportunities for quality education at school. However, racism is still
prevalent in many schools today (Beswick, 4, 1990, Pennino, 2007). Racism now has different
forms, like the individual instructions student can get from their teachers, and the acceptance of
students among their classmates. These can have negative and lasting effects on students even
when they leave school. Students must not experience any type of stereotyping, ethnic prejudice or
racial violence in schools. Asante (2003) said: Racism in education can not be overcome by the
expression of goodwill, it must be constantly confronted in all conscious ways (p.223).
For some poor African American students, education is usually the last existing method by which
they can improve their family life level and escape from a long history of poverty. Therefore,
whether the education system will provide a fair environment for them, or more specifically,
whether their teacher will have prejudice among them and

Nuclear Weapons In Brazil Research Paper
Delegation from the Federative Republic Of Brazil Nuclear weapons are the most dangerous
weapons on earth. One can destroy a whole city, potentially killing millions, and jeopardizing the
natural environment and lives of future generations through its long term catastrophic effects. The
dangers from such weapons arise from their very existence. Although nuclear weapons have only
been used twice in warfare in the bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki in 1945 about 22,000
reportedly remain in our world today and there have been over 2,000 nuclear tests conducted to
date. Demobilization is the best protection against such dangers, but achieving this goal has been a
extremely difficult challenge. , The United Nations has made the fomenting of peace and security

My Father As A Father
This move thrusts me into a whirlwind of uncertainty; my dad was my hero and now, I do not
know what to think. I knew of my father as a giving man. He dedicated so much of his time and
resources to help those less fortunate and unfortunately, it was at the peril of his family. I do not
make excuses for my father, just like my motherstepped up her responsibility as a parent, he should
have shared with her in lieu of leaving her to struggle with a young daughter. For quite some
time I had trust issues with men because of my father s behavior . . . it was difficult to fathom
that they will not leave the relationship. Being older, I am better able to manage my emotions
than I used to, however, it took decades to reach a place where I stopped selling myself short just
to have a relationship and I would say to any woman or young teenager, love yourself more. Keep
picking yourself up when life throws hard curves; there is nothing wrong with starting over if, and
when you have to, just know you are worth the fight.
As a mom, myself, I know how overwhelming having children can be, especially if parents have
to work far away, or long hours, perhaps are actively involved in social issues and serve in political
environments it is tough. And I am certain having this little bundle of joy compounded many
uncertainties for my parents; how to manage the new demands of parenthood and to be a functional
family. My little dream was a FOREVER family! After Daddy left, I

A Career As A Career In The Music Industry
The process to become a professional singer would have to start when you re young, because it
takes time to actually learn music and to build your voice. Most cited researches I have looked up
reported that many professional singers today usually have begin their training of practicing who
they are at a young age. Singingopportunities can come from anywhere, such as being in a play at
school. It s important for singers to develop a variety of styles. It s good to know more than one
type of musicnow and days for a better position in the music industry. For instance both popular
and classical styles should be considered because employment opportunities exist in each. To get
better results for your outcome most people would consider enrolling in a formal training
program. Once you ve reached your unique voice, continue the process and look for
professional singing opportunities. To get taken seriously you should build up your
professional representation and perform as much as possible. Musicians typically advance in
their careers by seeking an audience for their craft. While performance opportunities may be
offered all over the country, it s noted that many musicians relocate to hub cities for the
entertainment industry like New York, Los Angeles, Nashville or Chicago. These states are
typically where you would find a famous singer or musicians that you can reflect on and learn
from in your experience of making your career a success. For me after this step would be to go
to either University of Houston or Juilliard. Colleges and universities may offer numerous
performing opportunities. In addition to choral ensembles and formal recitals and shows,
performing in placing that will allow you to sing or local singing opportunities may be
beneficial for a beginner. Singers can audition for concerts and theatrical performances to build
their vocal skills. Make sure to take advantage of school opportunities as while. Many schools
with music and vocal degree programs have resources such as studios, practice rooms or
reference libraries that will allow you to exercise and practice on your craft of music. When
looking for a music or vocal performance degree program usually you will need to audition get

The Pros And Cons Of Violence In Video Games
There is much controversy on the subject of video games. One of the most controversial issues
regarding video games is violence in video games, and the alleged connection with child
behavior. There are many people, especially parents, who blame video games for their children s
violent and aggressive behavior. There are some who do not believe there is a connection with
video games, and particular child behavioral issues. There are studies that prove one side,
disprove one side, and it is very difficult to get accurate facts when a study is done on behavior.
Every person is different, so it is hard to get reliable data. Most people believe that it is a simple
cause and effect scenario. They think that the child plays a violent video game, and then then
suddenly start to exhibit violent and aggressive behavior. In most cases, this is correct. Children
from birth until approximately 18 21 are in a developmental stage. Both their brain and their
thoughts are not fully formed. This is why cigarettes and tobacco are illegal until you are 18,
and alcohol and recently marijuana are legal once you are 21. Your brain is not fully developed,
and you can damage your brain with these things, as it is still growing and forming. This applies
to video games and behavior as well. When kids are young, they re still learning how to act. If
your 10 year old is outside playing, or hanging out with people and talking to them, they will
likely grow up socially active, and with an average temperament. If they just have violent video
games, they won t know any different, and have no alternate perspective of what is normal. So
who s fault is it? Is it the schools? No, the school s job is to educate the kids, not monitor what
they do at home. Is it the video game creators? Wrong again, there will be violence elsewhere,
whether it be video games, movies, news, and even reality. So who s fault is it? Perhaps it is the
parent who just bought their ten year old son a very bloody game about killing people. Many
parents will buy a game for their child, then complain that it made their child violent and
aggressive. They decide to blame the game developers instead of taking credit, for they are the ones
who bought the game. Video game

started to ask forgiveness from g d in the form of a white tulip. Interesting that he chose a white
tulip? The white tulip has several significant meanings, the most significant one being
forgiveness. Obvious that Walter is asking for forgiveness and the flower represents what he
asks for the most. Interesting enough the flower also symbolizes love, innocence, and rebirth.
Could the flower be a reminder to Walter that he did what he did because he loved his son, and
though what he did was completely innocent. Walter could also be looking for new rebirth of
love and a relationship between him and his son. Is it fair to claim for Walter to claim innocence
though, after all he knew what he was doing when he was doing he made the choice to travel
through time. I think while what he did was wrong he was making the steps to correct it and
looking for forgiveness, but he wanted a sign from g d and this is where Alistair comes in.

Hawaiian Mythology Research Paper
Hawaiian Mythology has a very long and rich history. One way Hawaiian Mythology is unique is
that they communicate their legends, traditions, and myths orally. This limits outsiders from being

Separation And Separation Of Spinach Pigments By Paper...
INTRODUCTION Photosynthesis is the process by which green plants and some other organisms
use sunlight to synthesize foods from carbon dioxide and water. The photosynthesis process and
their capability of producing organic materials from CO2 is having a big influence in the biosphere.
The process of photosynthesisgenerates the plants to take two inorganic substances, CO2 and water,

Separation and identification of spinach pigments by Paper Chromatography. Pigments are
relatively non polar organic substances that are why I obtained the separation with the help of the
petroleum ether and acetone solution. I was able to obtain two main types of chlorophyll:
chlorophyll a which is bluish or dark green, and chlorophyll b which is yellowish or light green. The
yellow pigments in leaves are called xanthophyll and the orange pigments are called carotenoids.
The orange colored band, made of the pigment called carotenoids are the most soluble in alcohol, so
it traveled the farthest. After analyzing the results of the paper chromatography, the next step was
the determination of the absorption spectrum for the spinach leaf pigments chlorophyll a,
chlorophyll b, xanthophyll, and carotenoids. The amount of absorbance was determined with the
help of the spectrophotometry, which quantitatively measured the fraction of the light passing
through each pigment extract solution, indicated on the absorbance scale. The wavelength was
increased every 20 nm, starting with 400 nm, and reaching 740 nm. The results are shown in Table

The Differences Of The Roman Empire And The Byzantine Empire
The Byzantine Empire was a vast powerful empire dating from 330 1453. The capital was
Constantinople (modern day Istanbul), first known as Byzantium. To begin with, the Roman
Empire was split up into two halves by Emperor Diocletian in A.D. 285. The empire was divided
into the Western Roman Empire and the Eastern Roman Empire(The Byzantine Empire). The
Eastern Roman Empire was similar to the Western Roman Empire but had some prime differences.
These differences included language, acceptance of Christianity, and influences from Middle
Eastern along with Greek Culture. During most of the Eastern Roman Empire s existence, it was
the political, military, and financial powerhouse of Europe. When Justinian I(Widely known as

This shows that Justinian is a vicious bloodthirsty man, who did not value the lives of his
citizens. Justinian ruled such as Roman emperors Nero and Caligula in the fact that he was
mentally disturbed and unhinged. He ruled parallel to those emperors because he was
bloodthirsty and had no limits to his extreme tyranny. He recklessly killed all who dissented, and
this too he did in the name of piety. For he did not call it homicide when those who perished
happened to be of a belief that was different from his own. This is another excerpt from the Secret
History by Procopius. It once again shows that Justinian had no limits to what he viewed as
acceptable, ruthlessly murdering all who stood in his way. Justinian had no limits, as did many
Roman emperors. Roman emperors such as Tiberius, Caligula and, Nero. The last two out of three
had an extreme authoritarianism, making the innocent suffer at any chance they could, such as
Justinian. ... So while he was Emperor, the whole earth ran red with the blood of nearly all the
Romans and the barbarians. Such were the results of the wars throughout the whole Empire. During
this time. But the civil strife in Constantinople and in every other city, if the dead were reckoned,
would total no smaller number of slain than those who perished in the wars, I believe. This excerpt

  • 4. A Separate Peace Essay As Carl Jung once stated, Man s task is to become conscious of the contents that press upward from the unconscious . To reach a peaceful reconciliation, one must learn to embrace two distinct elements of their personality, the Persona and Shadow. Likewise, in the bildungsroman, A Separate Peace, author John Knowles depicts the common rivalry between young adolescents, and how they struggle to accept their identity and the relationship between their unconscious self. Gene, a Devon High student, becomes best friends with Finny and grows jealous of his ostensibly flawless friend, causing him to make a life changing decision. His struggles to reach an inner balance between his Persona and Shadow lead to the ultimate death of Finny. Gene s transformation involves the changes of his mask and Shadow from guilt and jealousyto pride and tolerance which results in the later acceptance of the light and dark parts of himself, allowing him to truly reach adulthood and a state of peace. Essentially, Gene s conflict begins as he develops feelings of envy towards Finny s outgoing personality and appealing charisma, which causes him to hide behind a persona in the one sided rivalry he has with Finny. When Gene flunks a test for the first time, he finds an excuse to justify his failure, concluding that Finny purposely interrupted his studies by inviting him to the beach. Gene reasons, Sure, he wanted to share everything with me, especially his procession of D s in every subject. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

In the female reproductive system, estrogen targets tissues such as mammary glands, uterus, and ovaries. Bone formation has a significant positive relationship with estrogen from puberty to maturation and beyond (Clark et al., 1992). Post puberty estrogen is mainly synthesized and released from the ovaries in females. Through binding proteins or estrogen receptors (ER) found within the nucleus, estrogen is retained and affects specific target tissues throughout the body. Phyotestrogens are plant derived non steroidal compounds with structure similar to estrogen and cause an estrogenic effect (Xu et al., 1998). Isoflavones have shown to have an antagonistic effect on endogenous estrogen while also being able to cause biological action (Morito et al., 2002). Soybean isoflavones have shown to have the same affinity to receptors ERa and ERB as estrogen (Morito et al., 2001). The binding of exogenous phytoestrogens in the form of isoflavones cause a reduction in endogenous estrogen synthesized. Studies have shown the diminishing effects of isoflavones on estrogen. In an earlier study it was concluded that endogenous estrogen levels were 15% lower amongst subjects with the highest amount of soy protein intake compared to those with low soy protein intake (Wu et al., 2002). This negative effect of soybean isoflavones on endogenous estrogen may lead to a disruption in growth of the long bone at the epiphyseal plate. In order to find the correlation and relationship of soybean isoflavones (a soy vegetarian diet) on pre pubertal epiphyseal plate growth on humans, a mouse model will be used. Bone formation has been mediated by isoflavones with precipitous mineralization of long bone at the epiphyseal growth plate (Morris et al., 2006). This study aims to find whether isoflavones from a high soybean vegetarian diet plays a role in prepubescent human females at the epiphyseal growth plate by using mice as models. Estrogen receptors will be quantitatively assessed in order to find whether isoflavones have an upregulation of those receptors. Lastly, an evaluation of the epiphyseal growth plate will be performed by hematoxylin and eosin staining and immunohistochemical ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 12. A Worldwide Problem Of Global Warming Electric Cars There is a worldwide problem of Global Warming. It is increasing day after day, harming our planet s atmosphere by reducing the strength of the ozone layer. Global warming is putting all basic human needs in jeopardy. There are various reasons behind global warming. One of the major reasons is fuel engine cars and trucks we use in our everyday lives. Fuel engine cars leave a trail of unhealthy monoxide gas as the result of combustion in the engine. Carbon Monoxide is one of many gases which is harmful to the ozone layer. Global warmingis already causing high temperatures, rising sea levels, floods, and droughts. To help reduce the effects of the fuel engine cars on our environment we should start using electric cars. Electric cars run on rechargeable batteries which do not leave a trail of carbon monoxide. Electric cars are fuel efficient vehicles which use less gas to travel the same distance as their less efficient counterparts. When we burn less fuel, we generate fewer emissions. When emissions go down, the pace of global warming slows. Cleaner fuels produce fewer emissions when they are burned. Some fuels such as those made from biofuels can reduce emissions by 80 percent compared to gasoline, and cleaner extraction techniques can ensure that dirty fuel like oil doesn t get dirtier. Electric cars will also help many countries stop fighting over fuel and also give countries independence. Electric cars should be globalized so that it helps create a ... • 13. The Heroes Of Greek And Roman Mythology The heroes in Greek and Roman mythology had the characteristics of violent masculinity and bravery, the ideology of a patriarchal society in which all the men were elite than the women. According to Kampmen in Gender Theory in Roman Art, Roman society evolved in such a way as to enable elite men to establish and maintain power over everyone else, such men included heroes like Hercules, Achilles, and Pentheus (1996, p.152). They represented the elite males who had stable physical attributes that emphasized their masculinity and heroism. Heroes like the ones mentioned above had been idolized and worshiped with cults due to their works in helping their societies to fight monsters, the gods also favored them. Gender is emphasized by one s appearance, dressing being the primary attribute. The mythic narratives of Achilles on Scyros, Hercules and Omphale and lastly Pentheus and Dionysusgive a rather strange definition on the characteristics of heroes when they crossdress. In this essay, I shall discuss how male heroes characteristics become subverted than emphasized due to the myths of cross dressing. The armor of a hero plays an important role in catalyzing his heroism. It served as an object of strength, virility, and masculinity. The armor of Achilles was according to the Greeks suggested a new crucial role in the hero s social reintegration after Hektor stripped Patroklos of Achilles old armor, the hero undergoes what this critic describes as a rebirth into ... Brown targeted many audiences in this novel but there is one in particular that not only had an impact on people then, but can still captivate many in today s society. That specific group involves people who are fighting an incurable illness, such as the Yellow Fever, as described in the book. Although it was written in the late 1700 s, people in the twenty first century can still relate to the characters in the book, and understand what they were feeling at that time. Some people believe animals should live in captivity, but animals that live in the wild get to live more naturally. They should live in the wild instead of living in captivity, so they are not tampered with by humans as much. It would keep the environment the way it should be. If you take predators out of an environment, the environment will be over run with other animals because the other animals population will not be controlled. Animals should live in the wild and not in captivity. Animals should live in the wild including endangered animals, instead of captivity. Some people believe animals should be taken care of in captivity because it is to dangerous for them in the wild. Animals do not truly belong in a cage. It is not fair for the animal to live in captivity because the animal would not be able to roam freely like it could if it lived in the wild. If an animal can not make it in the wild, it needs to either adapt to the wild or die which is a way of the population controlling itself. Animals are meant to live in the wild. These are the many questions that make up many non believers and possibly even many non believers today as well. I can speak for many church goers on the contrary, that have grown up in the church and they have not thought about the idea of the origin of the Bible. Either way, Christian or atheist, it is important to understand the origin of one s beliefs. This leads to the basis of the foundation of why a Christian believes the truth of God s word and then is able to faith their faith with others. To begin our research, it is important to understand and define some of the terms that are displayed throughout the text. First off, the origin of the word canon comes from the Latin word canon. This was originally from the Greek word kanon. When translated into English this word is referred to as a standard or type of rule that is found in 2 Corinthians 10:13 and again in Galatians 6:16. It is important to note that when Paul is writing, he is not referring to the canon of Scripture. Written in this viewpoint, the story is read as a tale instead of an autobiography and the author becomes more distant with the story like he is looking into it rather than writing it. • 31. Genre Example Of A Brochure Sample Introduction The genre samples for the proposal of a new grocery store near the MNSU campus will be explained below. An email, brochure, questionnaire and a flowchart are among the genre examples explained. Each will give a brief explanation behind choosing that specific genre example. Email The first Genre Sample I chose, was to write an email to Eric Anderson, the mayor of the Mankato City Council. I decided to write to Eric Anderson because I assumed he would be the best person to contact about starting a proposal for a new grocery store near the Minnesota State University Mankato campus. Eric Anderson could then give me some pointers on continuing this proposal and what I should do next in being able to get this approved for construction. Within the email to Eric Anderson, I stated the main purpose in writing this email to him. I proceeded to state the reasoning why there is a need for a grocery store near the MNSU campus. Finally, I asked him for any feedback on the proposal and that I looked forward to hearing back to him. At the end of the email I tried to be as professional as possible and listed my name and then some contact information of mine as well. Brochure The brochure I created will be available to the entire Mankato Community along with all the students at Minnesota State University Mankato. This brochure will be available at many locations throughout Mankato, with a major emphasis of them being around the MNSU campus. Some specific spots people will be able to find these brochures are on the MNSU campus in the CSU and surrounding business of the MNSU campus, like Kwik Trip as an example. I created this brochure to show the reason why we should have a grocery store near the MNSU campus. I wanted the brochure to be concise, but also wanted it to provide enough information to the readers. I added some fun colors to the brochure to make it a little more visually appealing. I also added some pictures throughout the brochure to give the reader some visual aids of the proposed grocery store plan. Questionnaire The questionnaire will be given out to any and every student, first year freshman to a graduate student, who is walking through the CSU at Minnesota State University Mankato. The ... Dugesia Spp Research Paper Dugesia spp., also known as planaria is a small flat dark brown worm of varying sizes around 0.3 2 cm long and 1 2 mm wide (Palmer and Fowler, 1975 as cited by Cha, 2001). Although they are small, they are hermaphroditic (Maule, 2006). The middle of the body is darker in color with tiny spots. The body consists of an arrow shaped head and a long unsegmented body that narrows as it reaches the posterior end (T. Huang, biology student, personal communications). Midway down the ventral side of its body, the pharynx is a tube like structure that protrudes out for feeding (Cha, 2001). The body is smooth and stretches in contracting and expanding movements as the Dugesia spp. travels around a flat surface (T. Huang, biology student, personal communications). The two side parts of the arrow that extends out of its head are sensory organs, the auricles (Cha, 2001). The auricles help sense water currents so that the Dugesia spp. is aware of the direction of water flow (Kriska and Gyorgy, 2013). Dugesia spp. has tiny eyes called eyespots located on the dorsal side of its arrow head. The eyespots can detect light and are extremely sensitive to light (Cha, 2001). Captivity is the main concept touched in Daniel Quinn s novel, Ishmael, and Plato s Allegory of the Cave. Plato makes the compelling argument that people are captives of the world of ignorance. Ishmael complements Plato s allegory by agreeing that there are two groups of people, that it would be difficult to distinguish the truth, and that people are being deceived. Plato and Ishmaelwere both able to indicate that there are two groups of people. In his allegory, Plato had described a cave with human beings living in it, they cannot move, and can only see before them..between the fire and the prisoners there is a raised way.. (DiYanni 406). He said that these people were prisoners who were left to believe that the shadows casted before them were the real truth. But the second group was people out of the cave. Similarly, Ishmael described that there were groups of people in the cave and out of it. The world of the Takers is one vast prison, and except for a handful of Leavers scattered across the world.. (Quinn 251). Ishmael has defined these two groups as Takers and Leavers. The Takers being those who are chained in the cave believing the world was made for their conquering shadow. The encouragement of economic disparity because of these tax cuts is bad for America. The US should be aiming for more social and economic equality for everybody. Every person wouldn t be where they are today without the people who helped raise them and the society they were raised in. Currently, the global population is slightly below 7.5 billion people, which means that in 60 years the amount of people on the Earth will increase by roughly 3.5 billion people. Living accommodations will have to change for this large increase in population, resulting in smaller and more cramped homes. Large cities will have to not only build more apartment complexes, but also build them taller in order to accommodate more people. At this point in time, the technology is not available to allow an extra 3.5 billion people adequate living conditions. Branched Chain Amino Acid as a Supplement for Long Duration Exercise Introduction Branched Chain Amino Acids (BCAAs) are composed of three essential amino acids including leucine, isoleucine, and valine. They are unique in that they are predominantly metabolized outside of the liver in the skeletal muscle. BCAAs make up 35 40% of the amino acid pool in the body and exist in high concentrations in skeletal muscle tissue (Shimomura et al, 2006). While the supplemental dosage is dependent upon on the type of exercise,, body composition, and dietary intake, a standard dosage of the combination of BCAAs is 20g, of leucine, isoleucine, and valine. Other ratio combinations are available as well as individual supplement products of leucine and isoleucine. BCAA supplementation is often taken before, during, and after exercise. It has been observed that BCAAs potentiate the effects of exercise by their anabolic processes on protein metabolism by increasing the rate of muscle protein synthesis and decreasing the rate of muscle protein breakdown (Karlsson et al., 2004). Moreover, it has been theorized that BCAAs may improve performance, reduce muscle fatigue, and feelings of muscle soreness. Introduction In the United States, there is a long history of unequal treatment among ethnic minority groups, particularly for African Americans. Unfortunately, this injustice also appears in education. Sociologists have affirmed the importance of education in shaping the economic and social prospects of individuals. As all communities in the United States have been diversified, it becomes crucial to recognize and properly deal with diversity within the classroom. All studnets should be guaranteed to have equal opportunities for quality education at school. However, racism is still prevalent in many schools today (Beswick, 4, 1990, Pennino, 2007). Racism now has different forms, like the individual instructions student can get from their teachers, and the acceptance of students among their classmates. These can have negative and lasting effects on students even when they leave school. Students must not experience any type of stereotyping, ethnic prejudice or racial violence in schools. Asante (2003) said: Racism in education can not be overcome by the expression of goodwill, it must be constantly confronted in all conscious ways (p.223). Singingopportunities can come from anywhere, such as being in a play at school. It s important for singers to develop a variety of styles. It s good to know more than one type of musicnow and days for a better position in the music industry. For instance both popular and classical styles should be considered because employment opportunities exist in each. To get better results for your outcome most people would consider enrolling in a formal training program. Once you ve reached your unique voice, continue the process and look for professional singing opportunities. To get taken seriously you should build up your professional representation and perform as much as possible. Musicians typically advance in their careers by seeking an audience for their craft. These states are typically where you would find a famous singer or musicians that you can reflect on and learn from in your experience of making your career a success. For me after this step would be to go to either University of Houston or Juilliard. Colleges and universities may offer numerous performing opportunities. In addition to choral ensembles and formal recitals and shows, performing in placing that will allow you to sing or local singing opportunities may be beneficial for a beginner. • 49. The Pros And Cons Of Violence In Video Games There is much controversy on the subject of video games. One of the most controversial issues regarding video games is violence in video games, and the alleged connection with child behavior. There are many people, especially parents, who blame video games for their children s violent and aggressive behavior. There are some who do not believe there is a connection with video games, and particular child behavioral issues. There are studies that prove one side, disprove one side, and it is very difficult to get accurate facts when a study is done on behavior. Every person is different, so it is hard to get reliable data. Most people believe that it is a simple cause and effect scenario. They think that the child plays a violent video game, and then then suddenly start to exhibit violent and aggressive behavior. In most cases, this is correct. Children from birth until approximately 18 21 are in a developmental stage. Both their brain and their thoughts are not fully formed. This is why cigarettes and tobacco are illegal until you are 18, and alcohol and recently marijuana are legal once you are 21. Your brain is not fully developed, and you can damage your brain with these things, as it is still growing and forming. This applies to video games and behavior as well. When kids are young, they re still learning how to act. If your 10 year old is outside playing, or hanging out with people and talking to them, they will likely grow up socially active, and with an average temperament. If they just have violent video games, they won t know any different, and have no alternate perspective of what is normal. So who s fault is it? Is it the schools? No, the school s job is to educate the kids, not monitor what they do at home. Is it the video game creators? Wrong again, there will be violence elsewhere, whether it be video games, movies, news, and even reality. So who s fault is it? Perhaps it is the parent who just bought their ten year old son a very bloody game about killing people. Many parents will buy a game for their child, then complain that it made their child violent and aggressive. They decide to blame the game developers instead of taking credit, for they are the ones who bought the game. Video game ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 50. White Tulip Ethical Dilemmas In the TV series Fringe the Episode White Tulip you see many ethical issues as I m sure throughout the series. However, this particular episode offers some great moment to sit back and reflect, but not for long because before you know it you re watching something completely new and possibly and yet another ethical question comes up. Our main character Walter has his own backstory that is ethically questionable but not the topic of my essay, rather what Alistair peck does with his interactions with Walter. Alistair not only went on with his jump through time but them sent a message to Walter as if he were g d, almost as if he knew that g d took his fiancГ© from him the first time. Time, a phenomenon that everyone takes for granted. Student... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Granted Walter did live the guilt for the rest of his life. The interesting thing is Walter didn t believe in g d until later in life. Once Walter realized that he had done something wrong he started to ask forgiveness from g d in the form of a white tulip. Interesting that he chose a white tulip? The white tulip has several significant meanings, the most significant one being forgiveness. Obvious that Walter is asking for forgiveness and the flower represents what he asks for the most. Interesting enough the flower also symbolizes love, innocence, and rebirth. Could the flower be a reminder to Walter that he did what he did because he loved his son, and though what he did was completely innocent. Walter could also be looking for new rebirth of love and a relationship between him and his son. Is it fair to claim for Walter to claim innocence though, after all he knew what he was doing when he was doing he made the choice to travel through time. I think while what he did was wrong he was making the steps to correct it and looking for forgiveness, but he wanted a sign from g d and this is where Alistair comes in. Alistair, who kills people every time he goes through time and justifies it by stating that when he goes back for his fiancГ© they will ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 51. Hawaiian Mythology Research Paper Hawaiian Mythology has a very long and rich history. One way Hawaiian Mythology is unique is that they communicate their legends, traditions, and myths orally. This limits outsiders from being able to fully grasp the culture. As a result, this aspect of Hawaiian culture creates a special bond and understanding between members of the Hawaiian culture. A significant part of Hawaiian culture is Hawaiian worship. Hawaiian worship is focused on natural occurrences; natural occurrences, or in other words nature myths, such as rainfall, sunshine, or fruitful harvests. Within Hawaiian Mythology, there are four primary Gods: Ku, Kane, Kanaloa, and Lono. Each god represents a specific natural phenomena or natural occurrence. Each God is associated with a specific color or scent or image. While each God represents a natural wonder, they are physically depicted in human form, but are believed to be superior humans. The God Ku is the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The Hawaiian peoples worshiped Ku seasonally; specifically in the summer season. While worshipping Ku the Hawaiians would offer the God of war, seizer of all land, human sacrifices. Kane is the God of life and presides over all of the other primary gods. Kane is often referred to as the creator of Hawaiian mythology. Kane is elevated over the others because he became self aware and separated himself from Po, the chaos of formless creation. Kane s ability to become self aware enabled other gods, such as Ku and Lono, to escape Po. Once all three gods escaped Po, they created Earth, or in other words, the Hawaiian islands. The god Kanaloa is often paired with, or balances the god Kane. Kane plays a diverse roll in Hawaiian mythology. Some believe Kanaloa to be the god of the underworld ... • 52. Separation And Separation Of Spinach Pigments By Paper... INTRODUCTION Photosynthesis is the process by which green plants and some other organisms use sunlight to synthesize foods from carbon dioxide and water. The photosynthesis process and their capability of producing organic materials from CO2 is having a big influence in the biosphere. The process of photosynthesisgenerates the plants to take two inorganic substances, CO2 and water, and also light, and remodel their atoms to make the organic compounds on which life depends: (McGraw Hill) Light 6 CO2 + 6 H2O в†’ C6H12O6 + O2 In order to allow light to enter the plant body and, in particular, to be used in the process of photosynthesis, the absorption of pigments is necessary. A pigment is a colored substance that absorbs light of a particular wavelength. Unabsorbed portions of the solar spectrum are ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Separation and identification of spinach pigments by Paper Chromatography. Pigments are relatively non polar organic substances that are why I obtained the separation with the help of the petroleum ether and acetone solution. I was able to obtain two main types of chlorophyll: chlorophyll a which is bluish or dark green, and chlorophyll b which is yellowish or light green. The yellow pigments in leaves are called xanthophyll and the orange pigments are called carotenoids. The orange colored band, made of the pigment called carotenoids are the most soluble in alcohol, so it traveled the farthest. After analyzing the results of the paper chromatography, the next step was the determination of the absorption spectrum for the spinach leaf pigments chlorophyll a, chlorophyll b, xanthophyll, and carotenoids. The amount of absorbance was determined with the help of the spectrophotometry, which quantitatively measured the fraction of the light passing through each pigment extract solution, indicated on the absorbance scale. The wavelength was increased every 20 nm, starting with 400 nm, and reaching 740 nm. The results are shown in Table 1 and Table ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 53. The Differences Of The Roman Empire And The Byzantine Empire The Byzantine Empire was a vast powerful empire dating from 330 1453. The capital was Constantinople (modern day Istanbul), first known as Byzantium. To begin with, the Roman Empire was split up into two halves by Emperor Diocletian in A.D. 285. The empire was divided into the Western Roman Empire and the Eastern Roman Empire(The Byzantine Empire). The Eastern Roman Empire was similar to the Western Roman Empire but had some prime differences. These differences included language, acceptance of Christianity, and influences from Middle Eastern along with Greek Culture. During most of the Eastern Roman Empire s existence, it was the political, military, and financial powerhouse of Europe. When Justinian I(Widely known as Justinian) became... Justinian ruled such as Roman emperors Nero and Caligula in the fact that he was mentally disturbed and unhinged. He ruled parallel to those emperors because he was bloodthirsty and had no limits to his extreme tyranny. He recklessly killed all who dissented, and this too he did in the name of piety. For he did not call it homicide when those who perished happened to be of a belief that was different from his own. This is another excerpt from the Secret History by Procopius. It once again shows that Justinian had no limits to what he viewed as acceptable, ruthlessly murdering all who stood in his way. Justinian had no limits, as did many Roman emperors. Roman emperors such as Tiberius, Caligula and, Nero. The last two out of three had an extreme authoritarianism, making the innocent suffer at any chance they could, such as Justinian. ... So while he was Emperor, the whole earth ran red with the blood of nearly all the Romans and the barbarians. Such were the results of the wars throughout the whole Empire. During this time. But the civil strife in Constantinople and in every other city, if the dead were reckoned, would total no smaller number of slain than those who perished in the wars, I believe.
