Hippocratic Oath And The Engineering Code Of Ethics
Compare and Contrast: Hippocratic Oath and the Engineering Code of Ethics The Hippocratic
Oath and Engineering code of ethics have both been regarded as the standard for medical and
engineering professionals to conduct themselves morally, and professionally to assure that the
decisions and activities made are guided by certain principles and values. (Hendon and French,
2016) Both the Hippocratic Oath and Engineering code of ethics emphasize the importance of the
duties and responsibilities of professionals in regards to the safety and health of humans, providing
services within areas of expertise, being truthful, hold confidential information, and being
accountable for professional services provided. The Hippocratic Oath states and emphasizes from
the latin primum non nocere, or do no harm towards patients.(Tyson, 2001) The oath is a statement
that all medical practitioners quote that they will provide, contribute, and comply with the safety
systems in place to protect and reduce the risk posed by adverse health situations. The oath also
requires the practicing medical physician to protect the lives of the majority, by means of disease
prevention. (Tyson, 2001) Providing medical services to patience requires an enormous amount of
training and diligence to provide the best possible outcome for the safety and health of patience.

In order to fulfil obligations Medical practitioners may only practice in areas that they can deliver

Nature Conservation And Its Impacts On Local Communities
HOW NEOLIBERALISATION FLOURISHES IN NATURE CONSERVATION AND ITS
IMPACTS ON LOCAL COMMUNITIES.
Neoliberalism has had its footprints marked in the sands of history. It has had it limits and it has
had its advantages but all those depends on who is the subject we look at. Neoliberalism can be
defined in a lot of different ways by scholars but the general definition of neoliberalism is the
political term used for the theory whereby the economy is open to investors, and the free market
is given priority. Neoliberalism has its key players as the state, the market and the civil society.
These three key actors in neoliberalism can define the term in different ways as the effects and
impacts of neoliberalism play differently for each party.
In Tanzania, the neoliberalization of the economy started in the mid 1980s with the privatization of
parastatal organizations, the deregulation and the opening up of trade and banking, foreign
exchange deregulation, and tax reform (Benjaminsen et al., 2013). The neoliberal processes have a
long term history of heavily impacting negatively on citizens and the environment. The economy of
Tanzania is mostly from wildlife tourism and game hunting. The neoliberal acts in these context
comes to play when the land sustaining the wildlife is situated among villages where citizens live.
Impacts of the conservation of the land arises for these villagers and the environment. In this essay
we will discuss how the neoliberal practices in Tanzania over

The Tragedy Of The Triangle Shirtwaist Factory Fire
Frances Perkins
1. Identify your individual and BRIEFLY summarize their background (one paragraph, at most).
Frances Perkins came from a wealthy family in Maine. From her mother, she inherited the
propensity to be stingy with money, earnest, and brutally honest. In 1902, she attended Mount
Holyoke College, where she used her glibness to barely get by. Instead of focusing on improving
her strengths, Frances professors sought to improve her weaknesses; Especially her moral ones.
This was done with the idea in mind that if she were to overcome her shortcomings, she would be
able to conquer anything life threw at her. After graduation, Frances struggled to find something
meaningful to do with her life; That is the tragedy of The ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

To this she an again declined the offer, thinking that she was the wrong person for the job,
however, Roosevelt didn t let her off the hook and insisted that she accept. However, her
acceptance came with an ultimatum. If she were to become Secretary of Labor, then Roosevelt
would have to put a major focus on insurance policies, unemployment relief, a refined public works
program, minimum wage laws, social security for the retired, and the abolishment of child labor.
After Roosevelt agreed to the terms, she joined his cabinet becoming a champion of the New Deal ;
being central to the creation of the new Social Security system, developing the Civilian
Conservation Corps, the Federal Works Agency, and the Public Works Administration, Establishing
the first minimum wage law, and resisting the idea of drafting women in the second World War,
placing them in jobs vacated by men. Like her I find great joy in helping other in need. After
reading how she fought to provide help for the mistreated laborers I was moved by her
humanitarianism.
3. Describe their Adam I tendencies.
Frances Adam I tendencies include: surprising herself to achieve her goals, changing her
appearance to gain the acceptance of her fellow politicians, keeping the state of her husbands mental
health under lock and key, her determination and stubbornness when it came to accepting her job as
Secretary of State, and her not allowing herself to feel the strong emotions

Democracy And Its Impact On Democracy
How are they related to democracy, concepts discuss the procedures that make democracy
possible. Democracy related to our lives by looking for the right thing to do, for every one of us
have equality and freedom of speech, we could have multiple ideas it might change the ideology of
the country, we also could related the democracyby looking at the facts. The facts are Free
Elections, Political Participation, Civil Liberties, and Functioning Government. The democracy
is one of the most common types of the government in the modern world. Which give us clear
idea of who defied the democracy even in different countries. Moreover free elections could
related to democracy by having free election that anyone could share his experience with the
others and create an idea to fix any problem. Also this could direct a message to the citizen to
know what the elections doing. Political participation, to each one who is adults and have some
awareness of the social issues or votes. By participation we could have more diversity and
through that diversity we could develop our economy and our awareness of different cultures.
Civil Liberties, the essential of democracy and also important for the UN legally guarantees to all

What I learned in Statistics
Statistics is a mathematical and scientific process based on the analysis, interpretation, collection,
or explanation, and presentation of a data set. It is applied to an enormous variety of academic
disciplines, from the natural and social sciences to the humanities, and to government and business.
Data analysis is applied when information needs to be converted into the raw data which is more
purposeful information. Statistics is mainly all about the data analysis of a set of data. Before
actually began working on data analysis in real world and on paper, it is important that the basic
knowledge is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Descriptive statistics can assist in proper presentation of data such that it can be comprehended
and analyzed by the user. For example, if we had the data about the labor budgets of 200
companies, then that data would make no sense as it would be difficult to comprehend. But if
that data is classified industry wise, and arranged, an average is calculated for the industry and
for the labor budgets, and then the interpretation would be more feasible. In this example,
descriptive statistics is extremely helpful because of the simplicity of how the data information
needs to be shown. Following I will briefly explain the two most common types of statistics used
to break down and describe data. The two types are measures of central tendencies and measures
of dispersion. Measures of central tendency are measures which are at the central position of the
frequency distribution and which are representative of the whole distribution. (Tanner, D. E.,
Youssef Morgan, C. M. , 2013) A part of the measures of central tendency is the mean, mode and
median of the data for which was describe. Measures of dispersion are measures that show how
far the actual values are from the measure of central tendency. (Tanner, D. E., Youssef Morgan,
C. M., 2013) For example, the average labor budgets from all the 200 stores may be 21% of net
sales but individual labor will not exactly be 21% of net sales. Each store will run a different
percentage for labor.

African Catholic Church And The Church Of South Africa
Botswana Botswana is a predominantly Christian country situated immediately north of South
Africa. It came under the influence of Christianity in the first half of the 19th Century through the
missionary activities of Robert Moffat, David Livingstone, and other representatives of the London
Missionary Society (1817). They succeeded in establishing what is known today as the United
Congregational Church in Southern Africa (UCCSA). Their arrival opened the missionary field to
other churches namely the Dutch Reformed Church (1871), the Lutheran Church (1891), the
Anglican Church (1900s), the Methodist Church (1940s), the Seventh Day Adventists (1922) the
Roman Catholic Church (1928) and Pentecostal Churches (1930s). It should be noted that... Show

Despite a high rate of church membership, however, Botswana does not consider itself as a
Christian state. Therefore there is no state church. The Constitution of the country provides
freedom of worship. According to Chapter Two of the Constitution Section 11 Except with his
own consent, no person shall be hindered in the enjoyment of his freedom of conscience, and for
the purposes of this section the said freedom includes freedom of thought and of religion, freedom
to change his religion or belief, and freedom, either alone or in community with others, and both
in public and in private, to manifest and propagate his religion or belief in worship, teaching,
practice and observance . As a result, the churches in Botswana are many and varied. According to
the latest Government Gazette, there are more than 1,500 registered churches with many more still
waiting to be registered. It should be noted that in the interest of public safety, public order, public
morality and public health and for the purpose of protecting the rights and freedoms of other
persons, the Government enacted the 1972 Societies Act. This Act requires all churches in
Botswana to be registered with the Registrar of Societies at the Ministry of Labour and Home
Affairs (MLHA) in the Department of Civil and National Registration. Until recently, one of the
requirements for registration was that a new church should have a minimum of 10 people. For

Canada In The 19th Century Essay
The 16th century is really where it all began. Where a man of prudence explored the Gulf of
Saint Lawrence. Who knew this land of green would be re visualised as a world of red? It was
only a matter of time before the south of Canada was bared of its natural existence to a nationalistic,
industrialized and capitalistic society. When columbus found North America in the 15th century,
explorers such as Jacques Cartier wanted the New world for themselves. The term the New World
simply reminds us of the rapid industrialized development America has endured for the past 500
years. The west dominated the 20th century, with european and North American powers creating a
technological revolution by the end of the 19th century to world war, radicalism... Show more

Critics of the canadian approach argue that non assimilation of immigrants weaken Canada s
national identity because civic nationalism will weaken due to ethnic ones. However, immigrants
continue to support Canada s immigration quo and international organizations glorify Canadian
immigration policy. Metropolitans in canada were attractive to immigrants because they had the
ability to better their lifestyle as cities in Canada began industrializing which provided more sources
for employment. The economy flourished with grand international immigration that primarily
favoured British and European immigrants until 1980 s when the government led the admission of
more ethnic cultures. Canada was therefore named a mosaic for particularism. As multiculturalism
became tolerant, metropolitans such as Toronto and vancouver expressed diversity. Cultural
appreciation aided the acceptance of political difference. Symbolically, in 1965 the maple leaf flag
was adopted because Canada portrayed significant sovereignty and felt the former flag praised
Britain rather than embracing the high rates of immigrants and french canadians. Noticeable
immigration is one of the fundamental socio political issues at the moment. The acceptance of
justifiable immigrants, has been used as precedents for situations such as refugees. The

Vincent Van Gogh Postimpressionism
During the late 19th century a new form of expression immerged known as the artistic movement of
postimpressionism. This movement was highly individual and expressive. Some of the most
creative painters in history helped to make the style a success including Gauguin, Cezanne,
Rousseau, but Vincent Van Gogh is considered by many the master of postimpressionist movement.
Vincent van Goghpursued various careers and vocations before becoming an artist. He was
influenced by his father, the Dutch Reformed minister, in becoming a clergy man .His mother
was a book seller and she influenced him. Van Gogh is also known for some of his writings.
During his lifetime he has produced almost nine hundred paintings and more than one thousand
works on paper. Unfortunately his art did not gain the popularity and fame it has nowadays till
after his death. Ironically in one of his quotes he critics his work as of very secondary
importance . He is well known for many of his masterpieces such as Irises, CafГ© Terrace at
Night, Wheatfield Crows and many others. The first to come to mind when thinking of van Gogh
s art would probably be The Starry Night. Van Gogh drew the famous masterpiece on the Rhone

Describe How To Make Up Research Paper
Ladies, are you going on a date and want to look good but not over do it? Here is how to do a
casual full face of makeup! You are going to need skin moisturizer, concealer, cover up, contour
kit, eyeshadow, eyebrow gel, lipstick, a beauty blending sponge, blending brush, eyeshadow
brushes, eye liner and an eyebrow utensil.
First step, you are going to use a moisturizer that is appropriate for your skin. Do not use one that
will leave your skin extra oily. A moisturizer that has a little bit of color to it would be great! Put it
all over your face and rub it in good!
Step two, apply your foundation with a sponge preferably. Make sure it is all blended. You can go
over it with some powder if you want! But with foundation, the main focus is to cover up your

your eyebrows. ( I use gel so that is what im going to talk about) You put a little bit of your brow

This includes the proclamation and interpretation of Scripture followed by a common meal.
Although Jesus did not directly reveal himself to them, Cleopus and the other disciple recognized
Jesus in the breaking of the bread. This is knowledge only God gives.
Peter also came to understand the Pascal Reality through the revelation of the Holy Spirit. Peter s
confession of Christ at Caesurae Philippi ( Blessed are you, Simon son of Jonah, for this was not
revealed to you by humans, but by my Father in Heaven Matt. 16: 16 17) exposed the human
intellect s inability to unite Christ s messiah ship with Christ s death and resurrection. The Holy
Spirit reveals God s truth, not to the wise, but to those who trust God. Only God s Spirit can impart
knowledge of salvation.
Jesus instruction to the twelve disciples, Take up your cross and follow me , further reveals how
extemporal realities like the cross guided Jesus actions throughout his earthly ministry. The cross
produces faith in his followers. Indeed, one can only approach faith non rationally from ground
zero of one s being. Human understanding falls silent at the foot of the cross. Jesus, at his trial,
refused to answer even the slightest of Pilate s questions. The cross would be Pilate s final and
only answer.

Cafe Pownd Case Essay
CafГ© D Pownd Case
INTRODUCTION
CafГ© D Pownd is a campus cafeteria, which serves 450 students and faculty, on the campus at
the National Academy of Liberal Arts. The CafГ© s busiest time is at dinner time, where two
thirds of the residents are expected to be served between 5:00 and 6:30 pm. The cafГ© serves
meals, beverages, salads, desserts sandwiches and other snacks. Most students pay with their
student meal cards. The CafГ© is designed with three waiting lines, L1, L2 and L3. Line one is
for the pre cooked meals, and it provides a menu of its items. L2 is for the interactive cooking
station and the students get to pick what they want to be cooked at that time. L3 is designated for the
payment of meals. They have numerous complaints ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Another observation, is the flow of the cafeteria, it seems that most of the lines flow in different
directions causing chaos, people running in to each other, and standing in lines that are not
necessarily the right line they want to be in. The cashier flows in a different direction than the pre
cooked and the interactive cook lines. It looks like residents have to circle back to pay for their
food. Also, the entrance is located in the direction that bumps into the people in the lines. If the
direction flow developed better this could help the wait time and can help residents quickly exit the
cafeteria.
RECOMMENDATIONS
The first recommendation, is that they need to change the direction flow of the cafГ©. They
should switch the exit to the entrance, moving the cashier s stations by the exit. There should be
one express cashier only expecting cash and a regular cashier taking cards. The flow of the lines
can be corrected by partitions, so this isn t crowding at the stations, creating a consistency in wait
time. Please see exhibit A for the updated cafГ© layout. The second recommendation, is that there
is needs to be detail menu choices for the stations. They can order large boards and hang the above
the stations describing the menu options, reducing the questions being asked about the food. The
third recommendation would be to implement a pre order station.

Should Government Have Minimal Interference With The Internet
The government should have minimal interference with the internet, but complete neutrality would
eventually become harmful. The internet is primarily a place for communication. As such, it does
indeed make sense that the government should not interfere. However, the internet has evolved
beyond communication and has grown into forms of business. The internethas become a setting like
those of the physical world, with differences, of course.
For one, it costs to access the internet, and also to run it. It is not a place that we can go to just by
walking with a bit of effort. We have to pay for WiFi, Ethernet, or other items from the long list of
products. While there are libraries and other locations to temporarily access it, it still costs ... Show

Ads and the like have infected our previously neutral communication network. That being said, this
change has not been entirely bad. Companies like Google and Amazon have provided many things
to us that were previously obsolete or inaccessible. We have found many items and services that
would not be available without the internet.
Given that the internet is beneficial to all, there are many ways with which people will try to
sabotage or trap it. Malware, invasive advertisements, and uninformed “informants”
clutter our perception of this wonderland. For these causes, regulation is needed. Like all things,
moderation is a necessity, as too much interference will leave us resentful, but too little interference
will render moderation useless.
During the recent net neutrality vote, both accurate and inaccurate information was spread about
the motives and effects of repealing and continuing the bill. In that atmosphere, what was true and
what was false was extremely hard to differentiate. Fake news, fake websites, fake quotations, fake
testimonies, fake everything! How is anyone supposed to make a fair and informed decision in that
hostile environment! This was not present on just one side, however. Both sides spread
misinformation to lure people to their side for their own

The Big Stick By William Allen Rogers
The Big Stick
In the first decade of the 1900 s, the United States is beginning a progressive movement and
increasing involvement with foreign affairs. The president during this time Theodore Roosevelt, a
republican, was one of the first modern presidents the United States had encountered and he began
to not only expand the power of the presidency but also industry, business and military. This time
period in the United States was know as Imperialism. Roosevelt felt like the only way to expand
the US power was to strengthen the Navy and create ports throughout the sea for worldwide
trade. Artist William Allen Rogers, a prolific artist during this time saw what Roosevelt was
doing and drew a political cartoon of Roosevelt marching across the Caribbean Sea with his Big
Stick , this piece was known as: The Big Stick in the Caribbean Sea . Big Stick diplomacy
contributed to the lasting effects on the world; many presidents used this idea and expanded
imperialism; the use of Roosevelt s idea result in many foreign affair and wars involving the United
States.
This cartoon drawn of Roosevelt symbolizes many aspects of the effects during this time period.
As the audience observes the figure, the first thing noticed is Teddy Roosevelt, big and bold with
the American flag around his neck, as if he is a giant baring over everything and everyone else.

Prejudice could also exist in order to get approval from peers and to be accepted in a group for
behaving in a discriminatory way towards someone from another group. Prejudice, discrimination,
and violence against others is effected by times of economic difficulty when others come into the
city to do jobs that the indigenous people would otherwise do. Prejudices normally are carried on
after generations and such prejudice with histories are not easy for societies to get rid of. It could
be the result of race, religion, disability, social status, upbringing, trying to maintain an advantage,
for financial/material gain, prejudice, gender, looks, age, background etc.
It is a right of every individual to be given equal protection against discrimination to ensure there is
equality before the law. This right is a universal human right(Universal D eclaration on Human
Rights) and its violation is not limited to a country in particular; discrimination in today s world is
everywhere.
Prohibition of discrimination is also an essential element of national legal systems, as it seeks to
eliminate arbitrariness in dec ision making, en hancing the in clusiveness and predictability o f
decision making and thus the functioning of the legal system .
From the societal point of view, th e protection of esp ecially national, ethnic and religious

Compare And Contrast The Russian Revolution And Chinese...
Throughout history, many countries have called for revolutions whose goals and outcomes affected
the government during its time, in order to enforce a change in the current form of government. In
1911, a revolution was led by Sun Yat Sen in China between the imperial government or the Qing
and the nationalists. China s revolutions eventual outcome led to a conflict between the communists
and the nationalists in China whose goals contrasted each other significantly. During World War I, a
revolution in Russia occurred, led by Vladimir Lenin in 1917. The revolution in Russia affected the
proletariat, the Bourgeoisie, and the corrupted leadership of the Tsarist government as a whole.
Although these distinct revolutions occurred in two different countries, their outcomes are similar
as they both show how communismand the inequality of the workers and classes impacted the
countries both economically and politically.

How Does Wuthering Heights Change Throughout The Novel
In many books, the settings and characters often relate to each other. Wuthering Heights by Emily
BronteМ€ exemplifies this concept perfectly in the way the houses compare to the main characters.
Wuthering Heights is the story of love and revenge between its characters. In BronteМ€ s
Wuthering Heights, settings are reflected in the temperaments of these main characters: Heathcliff,
Edgar Linton, and Catherine Earnshaw.
First, in the novel Wuthering Heights, the character Heathcliff reflects the house Wuthering
Heights. The first way Heathcliff s attributes mirror the features of Wuthering Heights is Heathcliff
s incessant aggressive, bad mood. Wuthering Heights, when seen in the novel, always seems to be
having turbulent weather. Heathcliff s aggression directly compares to the aggression of the
weather there. The second way Heathcliff and Wuthering Heights relate is their resemblance of
physical traits. Heathcliff over time does not age very well. Similarly, the house is not kept up, is
always a mess throughout the book, and is described as rustic looking by Nelly, The apartment and
furniture would have been nothing extraordinary as belonging to a homely, northern farmer with a
stubborn countenance (BronteМ€ 3). The third way that Heathcliff and Wuthering Heights are
alike is their low level in society, so to speak. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

Was The Tiananmen Massacre Justified
From my perspective, the Tiananmen massacre of 1989 was not justified. The students and
protestors protested because they had a strong agreement of opposition about their current Chinese
government system that needed to be addressed. They wanted democracy for more individual rights

135.8в„ѓ. Urea had a melting point range of 132.5 135.8в„ѓ. However, when a 50/50 mixture was
created of the two substances, the melting pointrange was 98.8 132в„ѓ, 40 degrees less than the two
known substances. This is due to an impurity of the 50/50 mixture. Each substance was acting as an
impurity to the other substance. The expected range for Trans cinnamic acid was 132 135в„ѓ and
Urea had an expected range of 132 133в„ѓ. Trans cinnamic acid and Urea are similar compounds

A ramp rate was first used to obtain the approximate melting point of the unknown before obtaining
a more accurate melting point range of the unknown substance. Based on the rapid heating rate of
the test, it was determined that the unknown substance was either Trans cinnamic acid or Benzoin
due to the wider melting point range at 132в„ѓ. After the second, slower heating rate, it was
determined that the unknown might be Benzoin due to the wider melting point range. However,
when experimented with the unknown and the Benzoin, the 50/50 mixture melted before the other
2 compounds had begun to change states because it was acting as an impurity instead of melting at
the same time. If the unknown and the possibly known substance were the same compound, those
two compounds plus the mixture would have melted at the same time. The Trans cinnamic acid was
then compared to the unknown substance, which resulted in two compounds and the mixture
melting at the same time, which had a melting point range of 133 to 136.2в„ѓ. According to the
results of the melting point ranges given, the melting point range of Trans cinnamic acid should be
132 135в„ѓ. The experimented results were 133 136.2в„ѓ, which are about a degree higher than
what they should be, but the compounds and the 50/50 mixture all melted at the same time, making
the unknown substance Trans cinnamic

A Brief Biography Of Laura Ingalls Wilder
Laura Ingalls Wilder wrote many books that we are familiar with today; in particular, the Little
House series. Even before Laura Ingalls Wilder had the fame of the books, which were not
published until later in her life, she would write short nonfiction pieces for newspapers and
magazines (Hines). Laura Ingalls Wilderstarted first as a teacher, fell in love with and married
Almanzo Wilderwhich caused her to quit teaching, and subsequently had two children a daughter
named Rose and a son who died soon after his birth. Although Laura Ingalls Wilder wrote many
books which are what gained her lasting success; she also wrote essays about her outlook on life
as well as politics during WWI. Rose, her daughter, grew up and like her mother eventually
began to write for a newspaper. She encouraged her mother to write about her childhood. The
original story Ms. Wilder wrote was very different than the one we are familiar with today.
Originally called, Pioneer Girl, it was a first person account covering her life from about the time
she was three until the age of eighteen, and began with the words Once upon a time... (Mumford).

Threat Assessment Ranks Cyber Related Vulnerabilities
The 2014 Worldwide Threat Assessment ranks cyber related vulnerabilities as the number one
homeland security threat against the United States. In addition to cyber threats within the nation,
Russia and China continue to hold views substantially divergent from the United States on the
meaning and intent of international cyber security. Also stated within the 2013 Worldwide Threat

If the America s power grid were to suffer a major attack, it could have cascading effects that would
impact other primary areas of the infrastructure, including telecommunications, water, oil and gas
systems. The purpose of this paper is to elaborate on the issues surrounding SCADA systems and its
vulnerabilities. Within this will be previous SCADA attacks against critical infrastructures,
recommended solutions for prevention and risk assessment regarding power grids.
Vulnerabilities of SCADA Systems
The potential for such attacks has risen sharply in recent years as many SCADA systems,
including those at some very large public power companies, are increasingly integrated with
networks with direct links to the Internet. (Vijayan, 2010) It was stated by the Wall Street Journal
that cyber spies in Russia, China and other countries had already taken advantage of such
vulnerabilities to deeply penetrate the U.S electrical grid. This issue is not just a current problem
but will continue to escalate in the future going forward along with advances in new technologies.
Thus the security for SCADA systems can no longer rely on obscurity or on being a function of
locking down a system. These attacks can disrupt and damage critical infrastructural operations,

According to scripture, What? Know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost
[which is] in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own (1 Corinthians 6:19 20, King

scripture mean not to use your body as a canvas for tattoos or piercings because your body
should represent the life God has provided for you when cleansed by his salvation. In every
individuals daily life we are taught that all sin is equal, so how can one differ on judgment day
when standing in front of the Lord. Unfortunately, the Ten Commandments explain, Thou Shalt

yourself, or does that mean you shall not kill anyone? No one knows the exact meaning of this
verse except the followers of Jesus and Jesus himself. So, I am not saying that the bible does not
tell us we shall not kill ourselves, I am saying how do we know that this is true without asking
Jesus himself, and why not let an individual enjoy their last few moments with their family
knowing the day they must pass away. However, An individual with a short time to live has the
physical and mental right to decide, which path they are going to take: planning their own death or

parts talks about his family and personal history, the customs and society of the Ibo, and the second
and third sections introduce the influence of British colonialismand Christian missionaries on the

The Hero vs Villian Dichotomy in Beowulf Essay
Casey Kerins
AP English Literature
10/1/12
In the Epic Beowulf, composed in the 8th century, the reader follows the protagonist, Beowulf, on
a series of adventures to defeat three key monsters. This old English poem uses a series of motifs
to help develop its themes, known as dichotomies. Dichotomies, defined as opposites on the same
spectrum, range from good and evil to young and old, light and dark to Christianity and paganism.
All these dichotomies are represented clearly in the text; however the concept of Heroes and
Villains can be pulled in many different directions. Although Beowulfis always the hero, it is
questionable as to if his three opponents are simply villains. In the first of Beowulf s three battles,
he fights ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
She was mournful and attacked Heorot to avenge the death of her son. Being more of an angry,
scared woman and not a bloodthirsty monster, she quickly realized her mistake in attacking and
fled for her life, taking a chieftain with her. Beowulf went to destroy the beast, and succeeded in
bloodily killing Grendel s mother. The text says he smote so ferociously that it caught her by the
neck, breaking her bones (57). Beowulf again proved victorious, a hero in the eyes of the Danes.
This second battle is more complicated than the first. Although one can merely say Beowulf is
the hero, Grendel s mother is the villain and be done with it, further thought suggests it is not
that simple. As a warrior and hero, Beowulf upholds himself to the heroic code, calling for
courage, honor, and vengeance. If our standards for a hero rest on these three qualities, is not
Grendel s mother as heroic as the Hero? She is honorable in trying to avenge her son s death, just
as Beowulf was with Grendel and the Danes. She shows courage by attacking Heorot, full of
warriors, and obviously wants vengeance for her son s death. Although Grendel s mother is ugly in
appearance and a descendent of Cain, therefore cursed and evil, she is justified in retaliating, and
possesses the three qualities of a hero. The final battle takes place fifty years after Beowulf defeats
Grendel and his mother, and he is now an old king. Beneath

Harry Harlow conducted experiments on rhesus monkeys to research the nature of maternal love (

first experiment he conducted was to find out what kind of maternal care the monkeys needed to be
normal; Harlow raised the infant monkeys with artificial mothers to see how different types of
mothers would affect the monkeys growth and reaction. He used a variety of mothers to research
the different preferences, and he thought that the ideal mother was a mother, soft, warm, and
tender, a mother with infinite patience, a mother available 24 hours a day (Slater, 2008, n.pag.).

Organizational Changes Within The Public Bodies
1. Introduction
With the rapid growth of globalization, organizations face rapid changes like before. This is
because globalization has significantly increased the markets as well as the opportunities for
more growth and revenue. Campbell and Brown (2015) have opined that in the present scenario
of stiff climatic pressure as well as evolving political priorities, organizational changes within the
public bodies is gradually increasing the priority. Therefore, it can be stated that organizational
is one of the complex processes that have negative as well as positive outcomes and as such it is
worth looking at the available evidence so that the process is conducted as efficiently as well as
effectively as possible. In this particular task the main focus would be on some of the integral parts
of organizational changes and to carry on this particular task, Yahoo has been selected.
Therefore, through this research work, the researcher would try to outline as well as discuss the
role of diagnosis as well as feedback in the overall process of organizational changes and the ways
to achieve that efficiently (Carlson 2015). Apart from that, an analysis would be made to find out
whether the feedback is an essential element in an organizational development intervention or not.
It has been found that Marissa Mayer, CEO of Yahoo has been in the headlines as she has
introduced some of the organizational changes into the corporation. The changed policies adopted

from 1999 2000 and again from 2008 2012. Throughout the years, he has a earned a controversial
reputation, not just among the Russian citizens, but to other world leaders as well. President
Putin is often criticized for his handling of human rights and foreign policy issues by other world
leaders. To some, he is considered a dictator that must be stopped. To the Russian citizens, he is
fairly popular, having high and steady approval ratings throughout his role as a leader (Gertz,

abused his power in trying to improve the Russian economy. He has been suspected to have

the 2014 Sochi Winter Olympics games. He has also been suspected of holdings in Russian real

was more than just a sporting event to Putin and the Kremlin, but it was a blend of politics and

The Interesting Narrative of the Life of Olauda Equiano The narrative by Olaudah Equiano
gives an interesting perspective of slavery both within and outside of Africa in the eighteenth
century. From these writings we can gain insight into the religion and customs of an African
culture. We can also see how developed the system of trade was within Africa, and worldwide by
this time. Finally, we hear an insider s view on being enslaved, how slaves were treated in Africa,
and what the treatment of African slaves was like at the hands of the Europeans. Olaudah spends a

They seemed, if we take him at his word, to be a friendly and civilized people. As he put it
cheerfulness and affability are two of the leading characteristics of our nation. The village
economy was particularly interesting, and Olaudah s descriptions are very revealing. His
people needed guns because other villages had them. The guns were brought to Africa by the
Europeans, who used them to trade. (That the Europeans both supplied and fulfilled this need
bears mention.) Olaudah states that he had never seen a European; his people traded with
wandering merchants who acted as middlemen. These middlemen traded guns for potash, which
they probably used in trade again elsewhere. Later in his life Olaudah also saw iron pots,
crossbows, and European cutlasses among African people. This clearly illustrates the trade that
developed between coastal tribes and Europeans, and the existence of middlemen who worked
along established trade routes. There is also evidence of the Columbian Exchange in this writing:
the crops that Olaudah mentions his people raised. He says that they grew corn and tobacco,
These crops were unknown in Afroeurasia before Columbus returned from the New World barely

Abstract Many multiprocessor chips and computer systems today have hardware that supports
shared memory. This is because shared memory multicore chips are considered a cost effective way
of providing increased and improved computing speed and power since they utilize economically
interconnected low cost microprocessors. Shared memory multiprocessors utilize cache to reduce
memory access latency and significantly reduce bandwidth needs for the global interconnect and
local memory module. However, a problem still exists in these systems: cache coherence problem
introduced by local caching of data, which leads to reduced processor execution speeds. The
problem of cache coherence in hardware is reduced in today s microprocessors through the
implementation of various cache coherence protocols. This article reviews literature on cache
coherence with particular attention to cache coherence problem, and the protocols both hardware
and software that have been proposed to solve it. Most importantly, it identifies a specific problem
associated with cache coherence and proposes a novel solution.

follow the protocols and procedures outlined by the U.S. Supreme Court; if law enforcement does
not follow the laws, perpetrators could be released and free to commit more crimes. Proving
probable cause and reasonable suspicion are imperative to avoid violating the rights of citizens.
The police need only reasonable suspicion to stop an individual and question him or her, and they
may search for weapons if they believe that the person is armed or presents an imminent threat of
bodily harm (Taylor, 2012). Reasonable suspicion is when a law enforcement personnel presumes a
crime has been or is about to be committed. For instance, a police officer observes a vehicle
driving unusually faster than the others on the road, therefore performing a speed check using
radar. The car is, in fact, speeding so the officer pursues the vehicle and pulls them over. Upon
approaching the vehicle, the officer notices the suspect scrambling and whispering while leaning
around the car. This causes suspicion, reasonable suspicion, which allows the officer to ask the
person out of the vehicle to detain them. It also gives the

Scandinavian Mythologies Essay
From three different sources The Faerie Queene, The Mabinogion and Beowulf two concept, one
from each Celtic and Scandinavian Mythologies can be seen. The first concept is from
Scandinavian mythology and is that of the idea of redemption or dying well. The second is from
Celtic mythology and is the use of the Other or Otherworld .
From the two stories, The Faerie Queene and The Mabinogion, what would give the reader the
greatest feeling of hope throughout them both would be the idea of comeuppance. To have the
hope that in the end the good people will triumph and the bad will receive their penalty, as they
should but rarely do. The word redeem mainly has two meanings to either win back or restore
something and the second to make ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

both old and young; no evil fear, The tales of Macha Mong rúad, are another part of
Celtic mythology that holds redemption and kingship deep within it s stories. As we begin the
story the reader almost immediately sympathizes with the character Macha, as she is the true
heir of the King and it is her right to rule. As the follow along her story, we pull for her in her
battles and clever schemes to beat the usurpers to her crown. The readers hope in justice , that the
destined and worthy Queen holds the throne,is fulfilled in the end as she captures her competition
and seizes control. In all of the stories the virtuous characters are the protagonist, who
consistently fight against either one or many of the less virtuous. The Idea of justice is rendered
several times throughout The Faerie Queene, through each battle won by either the Red Cross
Knight, Arthur or The Lady Una. In the beginning, the reader learns of the evil deed done by the
dragon, the capturing of the Lady Una s parents. The reader understands that the dragon is the bad
guy in the story and hopes that in the end Una and her guide Redcrosse overcome the dragon. In
the end, the readers hopes that the Lady Una s parents will be restored to her and to

Ice Fili Case Analysis
Strategic Analysis of Ice Fili
Executive Summary
We at Temple Consulting have completed an analysis of Ice Fili s current corporate standing using
data collected over the past several years. Using tools such as Porter s Approach and SWOT we
have analyzed the internal and external environments and have recommended several strategic
plans of action. Current areas for improvement such as marketing initiatives and re evaluation of
distribution channels will increase sales and profitability almost instantly. Long term plans such as
lobbying against luxury tax on ice cream, partnerships with franchise vendors, and bringing new
products to the market, performing an IPO, and planning more global efforts will help keep Ice
Fili rooted as the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Ice Fili also finds strength in its employee retention. With a workforce of about 600 employees,
over 40% have been employed for over 20 years. The open and cooperative environment proves
most beneficial for employee retention and attracting young talent to join the ranks of Ice Fili s
workforce. Although lacking behind today s technology, Ice Fili has made an outstanding effort in
capital investments to increase productivity; contributing over $8 million throughout the 1990 s.
Ice Fili s marketing approach and product distribution could be seen as weaknesses in the
company s primary activities. In 2001 the firm started its first TV marketing campaign years
after competitor s advertised through the media outlets. To date Ice Fili is still very
inexperienced and far lacking of marketing strategies deployed by Western competitors such as
Unilever and Nestle. Not only does Ice Fili need to market more fiercely against competitors
within industry, it must also compete against other consumables such as beverages and snacks.
Another weakness is the distribution that is handed over to several distribution companies. There
is a much higher chance (twice as likely) to find products of its biggest competitor NestlГ© than
those of Ice Fili. Another detriment is how ice cream is viewed socially. Currently ice cream is
primarily an impulse purchase. If Ice Fili can change this outlook, it would result in an enormous

Comparing The Chimney Sweep And Songs Of Innocence And...
William Blake s The Chimney Sweep and Songs of Innocence and Experience
In this essay I will attempt to analyse, compare and contrast the poems The Chimney Sweep from
both Songs of Experience and Songs of Innocence which were both written by William Blake in
1790 92 and 1789 respectively. These two poems were amalgamated in 1794 to create a new
collection called Songs of Innocence and Experience .
I will be looking at what Blake says and hints at concerning the two contrary states of the human
soul in the two poems as well as looking at the message Blake is trying to convey to the reader. As
the poems are written regarding the same subject, that is a chimney sweep, I will be looking at how
they differ in their ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This was because of the huge power the rich and wealthy possessed; they could pay people less
and lay workers off without the fear of them taking mass industrial action because people were
so desperate for the money and would not have even have thought have taking such action. Over
the years life got harder for the working class year by year and was basically a constant battle to
stay alive, which many were losing. Due to the fact that people were so poor, the burden of
contributing to the family income was placed on children even earlier and this quite often meant
working as a chimney sweep from the age of four, a topic explored in Blake s two poems. Life
expectancy was short and if you were unfortunate enough to be a chimney sweep you were seen
to be doing well if you got past the age of ten. Money generally means power and at that time in
the world it was especially true and actually to a greater degree and so the more money you had
the more power and authority you had and if you were rich enough you could not only have an
influence on the area of the country you lived in but also be influential in the running of the
country. Consequently due to the totally disproportionate spread of power within the country,
people who were very poor had absolutely no say in the

Powder Calcium Carbonate
The rate of reaction is the speed in which a chemical reaction takes place. In this case the chemical
that made a faster reaction is Powder Calcium Carbonate. Calcium Carbonate is a chemical
compound with the formula of CaCO3. It is a common substance found in rocks.
The variables that strongly affected the rate of reaction was the temperature and surface area
(particle size). Referring back to the line graph CaCO3 powder had made a very big increase.
Rising from 1.56g to 2.0g. With the average of both put together being 1.78g. The temperature
increasing allows the particles to have more energy to create products.
The next cause that affects the reaction rate is the surface area.

The Space Shuttle Disaster And 12
The first space shuttle, Enterprise, launched in 1977. NASA couldn t have been more proud of
their accomplishments and looked forward to the years to come with many new ideas,
experiments to try and space to explore. While this might have been the case for a few years
following, NASA couldn t have predicted what was to happen on the mornings of January 28, 1986
and February 1, 2003... or could they? Disaster struck for both the Challenger and the Columbus
space shuttles. Even though both scenarios were different, they were one in the same when it came
to the reasoning behind why it happened. The ideas of cultural change, ethics of organization and
decision making were all to blame. Introduction It has been 29 years since the Challenger space
shuttledisaster and 12 years since the Columbia space shuttle disintegrated during reentry. With
proper precautions and improvements to both shuttles, these incidents could have been avoided.
Summary
The Challenger exploded on its tenth flight during mission STS 51L, killing all seven crew
members. The explosion occurred 73 seconds after the shuttle took liftoff, and the reason behind
the explosion were the faulty O rings. There were predictions that if the O rings were to
malfunction due to the cold temperatures, the rockets could explode before the shuttle took off
from the Launchpad (Miller 79).
There had been speculation that the O rings could fail, but those opinions were quickly pushed
aside as the crew boarded with the

Functional Brain Imaging Summary
A recently published article discussed optical techniques that exist for functional brain imaging
(Liao et. al., 2013). The processes in the brain utilize several mechanisms that primarily regulate
blood flow within the brain. The variances of blood flow are closely related with neural activity.
Imaging techniques utilize these processes to analyze functional brainactivity and produce reliable
results. However, different optical techniques will analyze different neuronal activity in different
parts of the brain. 2 photon laser scanning microscopy(TPLSM) is utilized to observe glia, neurons,
and vessels through calcium imaging and direct blood flow measurements. It is used to identify
cellular elements that control vascular responses under... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...

each technique is also given within the article, making it easier to compare. The article also

How To Write A Book Report On Night By Elie Wiesel
Basically Elie Wiesel started his book describing how the Jew s life was before and after the
holocaust. Elie talked about several people including himself about how their faith, personality,
style had changed from the way they were treated . For example he talked about a man called
Moche the Beadle like Elie said He was a man liked to work at a Hasidic Synagogue, he was very
poor and lived humbly, he was timid and did not speak much which represents how he was
happy and people accepted and loved him because of his marvelous personality which will change
by time which is disappointed. Elie also described himself saying I was twelve years old, I studied

Stereotyping The Brain
The Wonders of Our Brain
This marvelous, complex organ is considered to be the command center that controls our every
move, and thought. However enigmatic in its own rite, it holds many ambiguities, and the key to
unlocking man s ever growing temptation to discover new ideas and concepts. Man s perception of
the brain has changed significantly. For centuries, the concept of how the brain works has intrigued
man s understanding. Man is fascinated with the human brain, its functions, and physiology.
Consequently, why we discriminate, prejudge, stereotype and engage in racist acts seems to be a
big mystery. Moreover, man can use his brain to find cures to heal and eradicate diseases, but he
cannot seem to find a cure for the discriminatory, ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
This magnificent organ has set the stage for the controversial question: Are We Born Racist? A
part of the brain called the amygdala, which is an almond like shaped mass of nuclei located in the
temporal lobe of the brain near the hippocampus, plays a part in the diverse and rich social lives of
humans, emotional learning, and the variety of different functions that includes the processing of
emotions, distress reaction, and destructive behavior. The amygdala has many functions: regulate
distress reactions, hormone emission arousal, and the materialization of responsive recollections.
The amygdala is related to the construction and preservation of memories that are related to
emotional events (Cherry, 2015). Matter of fact, our very own brain is classified as having white

Essay on London 1908
London 1908 The Court of Honor
By day it is a vision of dazzling whiteness, with its tiled court and plashing cool waters, its pointed
arcades and lattice windows. At night it is equally effective with its thousands of lights and the
rainbow colours of the cascade. ~Robert W. Carden, Architectural Review July, 1908
Despite varied opinions about the 1908 Franco British Exhibition, an event designed to confirm the
friendly relations between France and Britain as described in the Entente Cordiale, there was
collective praise for the Court of Honor. The full grandeur of the Court can hardly be felt by an
image. As visitors entered from the main gates of Wood Lane, the Court of Honor was their first
impression of the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Already impressive during the day, the view was brilliant at night: a cascade of water flowed over
a framework of semi opaque glass with colored lights beneath, producing a brilliant rainbow of light
(Carden). Surrounding structures were illuminated by lanterns and other electrical lighting.
Imre Kiralfy, its coordinator, was the driving force behind the fair. He had found previous fame in
running extravagant exhibitions, and lived up to expectations by planning the Franco British
Exhibition concurrently with that year s Olympiad, held in a stadium nearby. Kiralfy saw the fair
as an opportunity to gain cultural respectability; however, since he was not a trained architect, he
received much criticism on his designs. He designed the Court of Honor as well as the steel frames
for all of the major buildings, then consulted the architects who devised the plaster facades to create
the White City. Many critics felt that he limited the creativity of the architects by giving them pre
planned structures for their buildings. Placing blame on Kiralfy, they denounced the cosmetic role
leading architects were asked to fulfill, pointing out the vulgar error of putting the wrong end of the
stick before the horse. (Greenhalgh). There were also complaints that the buildings did not fit
together, despite the overall whiteness of the fair. This was mainly the result of two very different
countries contributing architecturally to the

The Argument Of Skepticism Is All About
Maryam Quraishi
Professor Leon
Philosophy 101
August 9, 2016
Skepticism
In this paper, I will first discuss what the basic argument of skepticism is all about, then I will
provide the defense of the argument: the three cases (Judy/Trudy Case, Crow/Raven and Coke
/ Generic Coke case). After that, I will talk about the responses to the argument, specifically about
the criticisms from Descartes and Moore; how Moore feels that perceptual evidence is enough
and we can reject premise 1 and how descartes thinks that we can rule out the skeptical scenarios
with our evidence. Finally, I ll provide my opinion on all this and what I personally have to say
about skepticism, whether I am a skeptic or not or if I reject either of the premises. The basic
argument of skepticism goes somewhat like this:
1. If you know that you re in class, then your evidence is good enough to rule out that you re in the
Matrix.
2. Your evidence (that you re in class) isn t good enough to rule out that you re in the Matrix.
3. Therefore, you don t know that you re in class.
If put into simpler words, what it s trying to say is that as long as you know something, your
evidence is good enough to rule out a claim, but if your evidence is not good enough, then doubts
and uncertainty may be present about your claim. Skepticism is all about attitude of doubt or
uncertainty, either in general or toward a specific thing, or to any doubtful attitude or

Analysis Of Three Fundamental Assumptions Are Made
Throughout this policy paper, three fundamental assumptions are made:
1.The Murdell Flemming Model is a fundamentally sound method of analysis.
2.A global trend toward liberalization of free trade is both strictly current and strictly relevant to
Chinese economic growth.
3.The power dynamic between host country, home country, and Multinational Corporationis a
driving factor in cross regional mergers and acquisitions and thereby domestic economic growth as
measured by nominal gross domestic product.
The Murdell Flemming Trilemma or Unholy Trinity states that a government can only generate
policy that satisfies two of three general desires; these desires are exchange rate stability, capital
mobility, and domestic monetary autonomy (Cohen, 2010). Concerning the China, the general
international monetary choices should be capital mobility and domestic monetary autonomy. In an
era where multinational corporations are increasingly looking to cross regional mergers and
acquisitions to create value, it is more important than ever for China to retain capital mobility and
domestic monetary autonomy (Cross Regional, 2015). Through an examination of multinational
corporations and domestic monetary policy choices, the need for capital mobility and domestic
monetary autonomy become clear. This need is proven through the effects these policy choices
have on domestic monetary value and the subsequent consequences these effects have on cross
regional mergers and acquisitions. The

Climate Change As A Threat Multiplier
National security, in the 21st century, has shifted from the focus on traditional threats (armed
forces) (Siddiqi, 2013) to the integration of new threats and challenges, which have global
consequences as the world evolves. Climate change has been increasingly identified as a serious
contemporary security threat (McDonald, 2013), nationally and globally, instead of an
environmental concern (Dupont Pearman, 2008). This challenge presents a long term global threat,
with substantial human, national and transnational securityrepercussions (Wuebbles, Chitkara
Matheny, 2014). Furthermore, Wuebbles et al. (2014) acknowledge climate changeas a threat
multiplier, seen to exacerbate stresses (i.e. conflict, instability and poverty), enhancing the global
importance of the issue as recognised as a critical national security risk. In perceiving climate
change as a threat multiplier, this essay will recognise how the issues cumulative progression and
consequences interacts with existing security issues, directly and indirectly challenging national
security (Brown, Hammill McLeman, 2007). Secondly, the long term risk of climate change will be
discussed, analysing the importance of implementing adaptation strategies for risk protection and
vulnerability reduction. Finally, being a transnational security threat, global cooperation will be
addressed, stressing the importance of internationalism and collaboration to protect against this
evolving threat to national and

Personal Narrative-Desalinating Ocean Water
My phone buzzed, it was a notification from my Crossword Puzzle app. They had just uploaded
two new ones. The time read 4:32 AM. I was up all night pondering what Neville Longbottom
would have done if he were the Chosen One instead of Harry. I mean, Neville had genuinely

my window. 5:38 AM time to get up for school. The boiling hot water erupting from the shower
head reminds me of the drought in California. As I stand under the pouring water I wonder why
they have not yet tried fog catchers to harvest the water. Desalinating ocean water is an even

Consuming my blueberry oatmeal is a very heinous task yet it goes down easier alongside Scott

Difference Between Linguistic And Linguistic Studies
In the following essay, I am going to present a comparison between two linguistic studies.
Constructing another Language Usage Based Linguistics in Second Language Acquisition by
Eskildsen and Sources of Linguistic Knowledge in the second language acquisition of English
articles by Ionin, Zubizarreta, and Maldonado are going to be contrasted regarding their theoretical
frameworks, research questions and research designs together with the conclusions reached.
Reading the two studies, certain conclusions regarding their theoretical framework can be drawn.
The first article provides Usage Based linguistics view of language learning as mainly based on
experience and item, with particular formulas used at the beginning and then resulting to general
constructions (e.g. Dabrowska 2000; Tomasello 2003; Dabroswka and Lieven 2005). On the other
hand, Ionin, Zubbizarreta, and Maldonado, study adopts a theoretical framework that primarily
focuses on the aspects of linguistic knowledge, namely the L2 input, L1 transfer and the inherent
linguistic knowledge (Universal Grammar) that influence the acquisition of English articles by
second language learners.
Each of the studies also examine research questions related to their domains. The first one explores
the relationship between the application of Usage Based linguistics and issues in second language
acquisition, as well as how type and token frequencies used by learners can reflect schematicity of
learner language representation

Neoliberalism has had its footprints marked in the sands of history. It has had it limits and it has had its advantages but all those depends on who is the subject we look at. Neoliberalism can be defined in a lot of different ways by scholars but the general definition of neoliberalism is the political term used for the theory whereby the economy is open to investors, and the free market is given priority. Neoliberalism has its key players as the state, the market and the civil society. These three key actors in neoliberalism can define the term in different ways as the effects and impacts of neoliberalism play differently for each party. In Tanzania, the neoliberalization of the economy started in the mid 1980s with the privatization of parastatal organizations, the deregulation and the opening up of trade and banking, foreign exchange deregulation, and tax reform (Benjaminsen et al., 2013). The neoliberal processes have a long term history of heavily impacting negatively on citizens and the environment. The economy of Tanzania is mostly from wildlife tourism and game hunting. Frances Perkins came from a wealthy family in Maine. From her mother, she inherited the propensity to be stingy with money, earnest, and brutally honest. In 1902, she attended Mount Holyoke College, where she used her glibness to barely get by. Instead of focusing on improving her strengths, Frances professors sought to improve her weaknesses; Especially her moral ones. This was done with the idea in mind that if she were to overcome her shortcomings, she would be able to conquer anything life threw at her. However, her acceptance came with an ultimatum. • 6. How Statistics For Managers ( Bam1447b ) What I learned in Statistics Kevin Green Statistics for Managers (BAM1447B) Timothy Crawford 12 22 14 What I learned in Statistics Statistics is a mathematical and scientific process based on the analysis, interpretation, collection, or explanation, and presentation of a data set. It is applied to an enormous variety of academic disciplines, from the natural and social sciences to the humanities, and to government and business. Data analysis is applied when information needs to be converted into the raw data which is more purposeful information. Statistics is mainly all about the data analysis of a set of data. Before actually began working on data analysis in real world and on paper, it is important that the basic knowledge is ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Descriptive statistics can assist in proper presentation of data such that it can be comprehended and analyzed by the user. For example, if we had the data about the labor budgets of 200 companies, then that data would make no sense as it would be difficult to comprehend. But if that data is classified industry wise, and arranged, an average is calculated for the industry and for the labor budgets, and then the interpretation would be more feasible. In this example, descriptive statistics is extremely helpful because of the simplicity of how the data information needs to be shown. Following I will briefly explain the two most common types of statistics used to break down and describe data. The two types are measures of central tendencies and measures of dispersion. Measures of central tendency are measures which are at the central position of the frequency distribution and which are representative of the whole distribution. (Tanner, D. E., Youssef Morgan, C. M. , 2013) A part of the measures of central tendency is the mean, mode and median of the data for which was describe. Measures of dispersion are measures that show how far the actual values are from the measure of central tendency. (Tanner, D. E., Youssef Morgan, C. M., 2013) For example, the average labor budgets from all the 200 stores may be 21% of net sales but individual labor will not exactly be 21% of net sales. Each store will run a different percentage for labor. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

It came under the influence of Christianity in the first half of the 19th Century through the missionary activities of Robert Moffat, David Livingstone, and other representatives of the London Missionary Society (1817). • 8. Canada In The 19th Century Essay The 16th century is really where it all began. Where a man of prudence explored the Gulf of Saint Lawrence. Who knew this land of green would be re visualised as a world of red? It was only a matter of time before the south of Canada was bared of its natural existence to a nationalistic, industrialized and capitalistic society. When columbus found North America in the 15th century, explorers such as Jacques Cartier wanted the New world for themselves. Critics of the canadian approach argue that non assimilation of immigrants weaken Canada s national identity because civic nationalism will weaken due to ethnic ones. However, immigrants continue to support Canada s immigration quo and international organizations glorify Canadian immigration policy. Metropolitans in canada were attractive to immigrants because they had the ability to better their lifestyle as cities in Canada began industrializing which provided more sources for employment. The economy flourished with grand international immigration that primarily favoured British and European immigrants until 1980 s when the government led the admission of more ethnic cultures. Canada was therefore named a mosaic for particularism. As multiculturalism became tolerant, metropolitans such as Toronto and vancouver expressed diversity. Cultural appreciation aided the acceptance of political difference. Symbolically, in 1965 the maple leaf flag was adopted because Canada portrayed significant sovereignty and felt the former flag praised Britain rather than embracing the high rates of immigrants and french canadians. Noticeable immigration is one of the fundamental socio political issues at the moment. The acceptance of justifiable immigrants, has been used as precedents for situations such as refugees. The ... The cafГ© serves meals, beverages, salads, desserts sandwiches and other snacks. Most students pay with their student meal cards. The CafГ© is designed with three waiting lines, L1, L2 and L3. Another observation, is the flow of the cafeteria, it seems that most of the lines flow in different directions causing chaos, people running in to each other, and standing in lines that are not necessarily the right line they want to be in. The cashier flows in a different direction than the pre cooked and the interactive cook lines. It looks like residents have to circle back to pay for their food. Also, the entrance is located in the direction that bumps into the people in the lines. If the direction flow developed better this could help the wait time and can help residents quickly exit the cafeteria. RECOMMENDATIONS The first recommendation, is that they need to change the direction flow of the cafГ©. They should switch the exit to the entrance, moving the cashier s stations by the exit. There should be one express cashier only expecting cash and a regular cashier taking cards. The flow of the lines can be corrected by partitions, so this isn t crowding at the stations, creating a consistency in wait time. Please see exhibit A for the updated cafГ© layout. The second recommendation, is that there is needs to be detail menu choices for the stations. They can order large boards and hang the above the stations describing the menu options, reducing the questions being asked about the food. Wuthering Heights by Emily BronteМ€ exemplifies this concept perfectly in the way the houses compare to the main characters. Wuthering Heights is the story of love and revenge between its characters. In BronteМ€ s Wuthering Heights, settings are reflected in the temperaments of these main characters: Heathcliff, Edgar Linton, and Catherine Earnshaw. First, in the novel Wuthering Heights, the character Heathcliff reflects the house Wuthering Heights. The first way Heathcliff s attributes mirror the features of Wuthering Heights is Heathcliff s incessant aggressive, bad mood. Wuthering Heights, when seen in the novel, always seems to be having turbulent weather. Heathcliff s aggression directly compares to the aggression of the weather there. The second way Heathcliff and Wuthering Heights relate is their resemblance of physical traits. Heathcliff over time does not age very well. Similarly, the house is not kept up, is always a mess throughout the book, and is described as rustic looking by Nelly, The apartment and furniture would have been nothing extraordinary as belonging to a homely, northern farmer with a stubborn countenance (BronteМ€ 3). After the second, slower heating rate, it was determined that the unknown might be Benzoin due to the wider melting point range. However, when experimented with the unknown and the Benzoin, the 50/50 mixture melted before the other 2 compounds had begun to change states because it was acting as an impurity instead of melting at the same time. • 30. The Hero vs Villian Dichotomy in Beowulf Essay Casey Kerins AP English Literature 10/1/12 In the Epic Beowulf, composed in the 8th century, the reader follows the protagonist, Beowulf, on a series of adventures to defeat three key monsters. This old English poem uses a series of motifs to help develop its themes, known as dichotomies. Dichotomies, defined as opposites on the same spectrum, range from good and evil to young and old, light and dark to Christianity and paganism. All these dichotomies are represented clearly in the text; however the concept of Heroes and Villains can be pulled in many different directions. Although Beowulfis always the hero, it is questionable as to if his three opponents are simply villains. In the first of Beowulf s three battles, he fights ... Being more of an angry, scared woman and not a bloodthirsty monster, she quickly realized her mistake in attacking and fled for her life, taking a chieftain with her. Beowulf went to destroy the beast, and succeeded in bloodily killing Grendel s mother. The text says he smote so ferociously that it caught her by the neck, breaking her bones (57). Beowulf again proved victorious, a hero in the eyes of the Danes. This second battle is more complicated than the first. Although one can merely say Beowulf is the hero, Grendel s mother is the villain and be done with it, further thought suggests it is not that simple. As a warrior and hero, Beowulf upholds himself to the heroic code, calling for courage, honor, and vengeance. If our standards for a hero rest on these three qualities, is not Grendel s mother as heroic as the Hero? She is honorable in trying to avenge her son s death, just as Beowulf was with Grendel and the Danes. She shows courage by attacking Heorot, full of warriors, and obviously wants vengeance for her son s death. Although Grendel s mother is ugly in appearance and a descendent of Cain, therefore cursed and evil, she is justified in retaliating, and possesses the three qualities of a hero. The final battle takes place fifty years after Beowulf defeats Grendel and his mother, and he is now an old king. Beneath ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The first experiment he conducted was to find out what kind of maternal care the monkeys needed to be normal; Harlow raised the infant monkeys with artificial mothers to see how different types of mothers would affect the monkeys growth and reaction. This is because globalization has significantly increased the markets as well as the opportunities for more growth and revenue. Campbell and Brown (2015) have opined that in the present scenario of stiff climatic pressure as well as evolving political priorities, organizational changes within the public bodies is gradually increasing the priority. Therefore, it can be stated that organizational is one of the complex processes that have negative as well as positive outcomes and as such it is worth looking at the available evidence so that the process is conducted as efficiently as well as effectively as possible. In this particular task the main focus would be on some of the integral parts of organizational changes and to carry on this particular task, Yahoo has been selected. Therefore, through this research work, the researcher would try to outline as well as discuss the role of diagnosis as well as feedback in the overall process of organizational changes and the ways to achieve that efficiently (Carlson 2015). Apart from that, an analysis would be made to find out whether the feedback is an essential element in an organizational development intervention or not. Finally, we hear an insider s view on being enslaved, how slaves were treated in Africa, and what the treatment of African slaves was like at the hands of the Europeans. His people needed guns because other villages had them. The guns were brought to Africa by the Europeans, who used them to trade. (That the Europeans both supplied and fulfilled this need bears mention.) Olaudah states that he had never seen a European; his people traded with wandering merchants who acted as middlemen. These middlemen traded guns for potash, which they probably used in trade again elsewhere. Later in his life Olaudah also saw iron pots, crossbows, and European cutlasses among African people. This clearly illustrates the trade that developed between coastal tribes and Europeans, and the existence of middlemen who worked along established trade routes. There is also evidence of the Columbian Exchange in this writing: the crops that Olaudah mentions his people raised. He says that they grew corn and tobacco, These crops were unknown in Afroeurasia before Columbus returned from the New World barely two hundred and fifty years earlier. These two crops traveled from the Western Hemisphere via very indirect trade routes, over a period of many years. They became staples in a rural village miles from the African coast. Cache Coherence Essay A Survey of Literature on Cache Coherence Author(s) Name Department, Institution Address E mail Abstract Many multiprocessor chips and computer systems today have hardware that supports shared memory. This is because shared memory multicore chips are considered a cost effective way of providing increased and improved computing speed and power since they utilize economically interconnected low cost microprocessors. Shared memory multiprocessors utilize cache to reduce memory access latency and significantly reduce bandwidth needs for the global interconnect and local memory module. However, a problem still exists in these systems: cache coherence problem introduced by local caching of data, which leads to reduced processor execution speeds. The problem of cache coherence in hardware is reduced in today s microprocessors through the implementation of various cache coherence protocols. This article reviews literature on cache coherence with particular attention to cache coherence problem, and the protocols both hardware and software that have been proposed to solve it. Most importantly, it identifies a specific problem associated with cache coherence and proposes a novel solution. The two appear similar in many ways as both require the best judgment of the law enforcement personnel. But they are in fact different, and all law enforcement must know the difference in order for the evidence to be admissible in court. Law enforcement is obligated to follow the protocols and procedures outlined by the U.S. Supreme Court; if law enforcement does not follow the laws, perpetrators could be released and free to commit more crimes. Proving probable cause and reasonable suspicion are imperative to avoid violating the rights of citizens. The police need only reasonable suspicion to stop an individual and question him or her, and they may search for weapons if they believe that the person is armed or presents an imminent threat of bodily harm (Taylor, 2012). Reasonable suspicion is when a law enforcement personnel presumes a crime has been or is about to be committed. For instance, a police officer observes a vehicle driving unusually faster than the others on the road, therefore performing a speed check using radar. The car is, in fact, speeding so the officer pursues the vehicle and pulls them over. Upon approaching the vehicle, the officer notices the suspect scrambling and whispering while leaning around the car. This causes suspicion, reasonable suspicion, which allows the officer to ask the person out of the vehicle to detain them. It also gives the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 49. The Argument Of Skepticism Is All About Maryam Quraishi Professor Leon Philosophy 101 August 9, 2016 Skepticism In this paper, I will first discuss what the basic argument of skepticism is all about, then I will provide the defense of the argument: the three cases (Judy/Trudy Case, Crow/Raven and Coke / Generic Coke case). After that, I will talk about the responses to the argument, specifically about the criticisms from Descartes and Moore; how Moore feels that perceptual evidence is enough and we can reject premise 1 and how descartes thinks that we can rule out the skeptical scenarios with our evidence. Finally, I ll provide my opinion on all this and what I personally have to say about skepticism, whether I am a skeptic or not or if I reject either of the premises. The basic argument of skepticism goes somewhat like this: 1. If you know that you re in class, then your evidence is good enough to rule out that you re in the Matrix. 2. Your evidence (that you re in class) isn t good enough to rule out that you re in the Matrix. 3. Therefore, you don t know that you re in class. If put into simpler words, what it s trying to say is that as long as you know something, your evidence is good enough to rule out a claim, but if your evidence is not good enough, then doubts and uncertainty may be present about your claim. Analysis Of Three Fundamental Assumptions Are Made Throughout this policy paper, three fundamental assumptions are made: 1.The Murdell Flemming Model is a fundamentally sound method of analysis. 2.A global trend toward liberalization of free trade is both strictly current and strictly relevant to Chinese economic growth. 3.The power dynamic between host country, home country, and Multinational Corporationis a driving factor in cross regional mergers and acquisitions and thereby domestic economic growth as measured by nominal gross domestic product. The Murdell Flemming Trilemma or Unholy Trinity states that a government can only generate policy that satisfies two of three general desires; these desires are exchange rate stability, capital mobility, and domestic monetary autonomy (Cohen, 2010). Concerning the China, the general international monetary choices should be capital mobility and domestic monetary autonomy. In an era where multinational corporations are increasingly looking to cross regional mergers and acquisitions to create value, it is more important than ever for China to retain capital mobility and domestic monetary autonomy (Cross Regional, 2015). Through an examination of multinational corporations and domestic monetary policy choices, the need for capital mobility and domestic monetary autonomy become clear. This need is proven through the effects these policy choices have on domestic monetary value and the subsequent consequences these effects have on cross regional mergers and acquisitions. The ... Climate Change As A Threat Multiplier National security, in the 21st century, has shifted from the focus on traditional threats (armed forces) (Siddiqi, 2013) to the integration of new threats and challenges, which have global consequences as the world evolves. Climate change has been increasingly identified as a serious contemporary security threat (McDonald, 2013), nationally and globally, instead of an environmental concern (Dupont Pearman, 2008). This challenge presents a long term global threat, with substantial human, national and transnational securityrepercussions (Wuebbles, Chitkara Matheny, 2014). Furthermore, Wuebbles et al. In perceiving climate change as a threat multiplier, this essay will recognise how the issues cumulative progression and consequences interacts with existing security issues, directly and indirectly challenging national security (Brown, Hammill McLeman, 2007). I was up all night pondering what Neville Longbottom would have done if he were the Chosen One instead of Harry. I mean, Neville had genuinely proved himself in The Order of The Phoenix. Reading the two studies, certain conclusions regarding their theoretical framework can be drawn. The first article provides Usage Based linguistics view of language learning as mainly based on experience and item, with particular formulas used at the beginning and then resulting to general constructions (e.g. Dabrowska 2000; Tomasello 2003; Dabroswka and Lieven 2005). On the other hand, Ionin, Zubbizarreta, and Maldonado, study adopts a theoretical framework that primarily focuses on the aspects of linguistic knowledge, namely the L2 input, L1 transfer and the inherent linguistic knowledge (Universal Grammar) that influence the acquisition of English articles by second language learners. Each of the studies also examine research questions related to their domains.
