This document discusses high speed data transmission through optical fiber using semiconductor devices. 3. INTRODUCTION
Two types of light sources are commonly used for optical
fiber in communications applications. These sources are
the light emitting diode(LED) and the semiconductor
laser(or laser diode).

The objectives of this works are
 To Introduce optical fiber communication system.
 To study high speed data transmission though optical
fiber using semiconductor laser
 To obtain the performance characteristics of a
designed laser
