Making Soap: Lab
1.A saponification reaction is considered to be the reverse of an esterification reaction because in
an esterification, a carboxylic acid is combined with an alcohol to produce an ester and water; and
in a saponification, an ester is combined with lye (Na+ + OH ) to produce the salt of a carboxylic
acid and an alcohol. Essentially, the products and reactants are opposites of each other in either
reaction.
2.The functional groups in glycerol are hydroxyl groups (OH). It belongs to the alcohol family
and, due to its three hydroxyl groups, it is polar with a high bp/mp/H2O sol.
3.I predict that the boiling point of glycerol will be higher than that of ethanol because ethanol
only has one hydroxyl group and glycerol has three. Glycerol s three hydroxyl groups make it
more polar than ethanol (larger polar region compared to its non polar region); and therefore, it
requires more energy to break its bonds.
4.I predict that glycerol is soluble in polar solvents because it is highly polar itself, and polar

12.This procedure for making soap was relatively successful. While we followed all of the steps
as accurately as possible, it proved difficult to get all measurements entirely exact (ie. residual
oil/glycerol was left behind during the transfer to beaker B). To test our soap s lather ability, we
filled a clean 250 mL beaker with water from the tap and placed our soap bar into it. We agitated
the contents until a decent bit of soapsuds formed; however, we determined that our soap was
basic, as spots of blue appeared on the litmus

Strict Constructionist Dbq
When it comes to the understanding of the Constitution, Jeffersonian Republicans are generally
characterized as strict constructionists who were opposed to the broad constructionism of the
Federalists. This characterization however, fails to take into account the complexities of the
domestic and foreign policies supported during the presidencies of Jefferson and Madison, as well
as ideas held by the Federalists support the idea that they supported some principles of a strict
constitutional interpretation when it suited their cause. Between 1801 and 1817 it is clear to see
that both parties to some extent crossed their political lines when it was the best way to achieve
their political agendas. On August 13th 1800, before his election Thomas Jeffersonwrote to Gideon
Granger, a future member of Jefferson s cabinet, about taking down the Federalists, protecting the
state s rights, and that the Constitution is the wisest piece of political literature to address the needs
of such a varying and diverse nation(Doc. A). Thomas Jefferson was the Third president of the
United States, the primary author of the Declaration of independence, and believed that America
should grow as an agrarian nation with a limited central government and strong state governments.
This document shows that Jeffersonian Republicans were strict interpreters of the Constitution by
telling us directly that changing the federal constitution to hurt state governments defines this new
nation as a monarchy, and

How Did Nehemiah Break Their Stone Wall
When Nehemiah s plan was put into action he started to receive opposition from surrounding
nations. Sanballat, Tobiah, the Arabs, the Ammonites, and the Ashdodites were the people that
tried to halt the building of the wall. When Sanballat heard of the rebuilding he became angry
and mocked the Jews saying, Can they revive the stones from the dusty ruble even the burned
ones? Tobiah responded with negativity, Even what they are building if a fox should jump on it,
he would break their stone wall (Neh 4:1 3). In verses 4 5 Nehemiah called out to the Lord
against the people who are showing opposition. Nehemiah asked the Lord to punish the opposition
for trying to stop the Lord s plan and discouraging his people. The wall was built to half the height,
and the surrounding nations were encouraged to work before the enemy started to affect the
building. All of these enemies conspired to come against Jerusalem because the breaches within the
walls had been closed and they no longer had control over Jerusalem (Neh 4:4 8). Amongst the

Schick Razors Advertisement Analysis Essay
In a Game Informer magazine, I have found an advertisement for a Schick razor. The line of
pictures of bald men caught my eye, so I had to take a minute to see what this advertisement
promotes. Schick razors continue to rise as one of the most popular brands of razors for men and
women. You can find their advertisements virtually anywhere. This particular advertisement is for a
newly designed razorwith a curved front, making it easier to get a close shave. Schick targets the
male populations with this advertisement. This advertisement has two pictures. The first shows
four large, boldly framed pictures of professionally dressed, aged bald men hanging on the wall.
Underneath of these pictures, three younger men set in white chairs lined up against the same
wall, fidgeting with things. Another young man sits in a chair facing to the side, separated from
the others by an end table, looking up at the pictures hanging on the wall. All the young men look
sharply dressed and all have full heads of styled hair. In the top corner, it says interview starts in
15 minutes . The second picture shows the same scene, except the man sitting in the chair facing to
the side, has shaved all his hair off. Him and an older bald gentleman, who has just entered the
room to call someone back for an interview, exchange... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The razor, not the main focus, got overlooked easily when I first viewed the ad. The razor has a
unique design with its curved front, so I think that it should have taken center stage in the
advertisement, since the razor will sell and not the men. I remained too focused on looking at
the men, trying to figure out why the all sat there and why one guy had a bald head so quickly
so I didn t even see the razor. I had to look a little to finally realize what the advertisement
promoted. If I plan to buy something based off an advertisement, I do not want to have to solve a
puzzle to know what they plan to

They intended to kill J.A Scott, who they believed had struck the blows on Lala Lajpat Rai during a

Comparing Two Photos
When I was little, one of my favorite things to draw was my house. I don t know why I loved it
so much, but I loved drawing my yard and how big my house was. Something about drawing my
home was special to me. As I looked through the website, there were many well drawn and
colored pictures but two stuck out the most to me. These two students that drew these pictures
where asked to draw a picture of where they live. The pictures are similar in many ways as well as
different in many ways. Image A was drawn in 2004 by a 6 8 year old female. In this picture, she
drew her house starting on the baseline of the paper, which shows she is in the symbol making
stage. Her house is a blue square with a black triangle as the roof. Her house... Show more content

Image B shows a visual element of line. The lines of the house are straight, smooth and firm. It
is easy to tell they took their time while trying to draw the house, while image A s lines are more
curved and loose. It looks like they didn t use a ruler or worry about how straight their lines
were. Image B also used her lines to show depth, for example on the house she made it 3D to let
us viewers see the depth of her house. Image A does not use line to show depth. Instead, she
drew her lines to show the viewers the front of the house and only the front. Although image A is
more of a free drawing picture, I think it has more details in the picture. Image A has windows
on the house and she show her flag pole next to the house, yet image B has no windows on the
house and nothing in the yard. Another difference in the drawings is the backgrounds. Image A
does not have background, grass or sky but image B has a yard full of grass, a sky and clouds.
Within these images, you can tell image A is in the symbol making stage and image B is in the
preadolescent stage. Image A draws their picture on the baseline of the paper and the sizing of
the objects are not accurate. Such as, the door is too big for the house while the roof is too
small. Both of these are characteristics of the symbol making stage. However, image B s
baseline has disappeared and their objects are all accurate showing they are in the preadolescent
stage. As stated earlier as a similarity, both images used stereotypical objects. However, it is also
a difference because image B uses less stereotypical objects and features within the house showing
they are a stage ahead of image A. Lastly, the difference between the two images is image A is
made with crayon and image B is made with color

Lord Of The Flies And Human Nature Essay
Human nature defines the general psychological behaviors of humans when in a primitive or
natural state. In the movies and books in this course human nature is a very prevalent theme and
controls the events throughout. In The Mist by Stephen King, the characters start out with their
civility and slowly break down and do things that show they will do anything to survive. In Lord
of the Flies by William Golding, the boys get stranded on an island and use a form of order to keep
their civilized lives intact but soon turn to savagery and destruction. Another example of human
nature is in the short story film of The Shelter from The Twilight Zone. The neighbors in the 1960 s

They begin with electing a leader that will guide them to survive and eventually be rescued. This
character is Ralph, and he stands for civilization and wanting to be saved from this tragedy. Only
days after this so called election, a few boys realize they need to hunt and kill for meat to survive.
They lose all thought of being rescued. Just within a matter of days these boys were a group of
savages, dancing around fires, sharpening hunting and killing spears, and attacking Ralph and
whoever else continued to live with a civilized manner. These boys were finally free of any adult
supervision or authority and wanted to act like human nature intends, with the thought of living
at the top of the food chain and surviving in the face of death being their only priority. Towards
the end of the story the group of savage boys, who called themselves a tribe, murdered the
character Piggy . This character represented the hope of civilization for the stranded group of
boys. He was the only one who saw their situation for what it really was. When he was killed,
Ralph even lost hope and began to fight and run to survive. The only reason these boys survived
was the eventual coming of the military that spotted the forest fires being started by the tribe to
burn out and murder Ralph. Once they saw an actual adult again they all broke down and regained
their vision on what they had all done on this island. This just shows how easily it is to wade in
and out of civility when under the

Introduction: With technology advancing everyday it makes it increasing easier for one to be

GPSIntroduction : GPS on bike has a market in India
The worldwide market for global positioning system (GPS) navigation and locationbased services
has been growing exponentially and is expected to rise to 13.4 billion Rupees in 2014, with a high
compound annual growth rate. Although still at a nascent stage in India, the GPS navigation market
holds tremendous potential for growth, driven by its increasing acceptance among the younger
generation as well as the exponential growth in popularity in car as well as in bike.
However, unlike developed countries where navigation was established by portable navigation
devices (PNDs), followed by vehicles and then smartphones , India is witnessing a reverse trend,
says Rajat Tandon, director... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
The fourth stage of market evolution, decline, is still some distance away from the Indian market.
In this phase vendors should expect that the product itselfwill become invisible, market reach will
be critical, all will need to look at new markets within existing segments. From a consumer
perspective it will become a commodity product, people with new toy syndrome would change
devices periodically and price would be the only factor when taking decisions. The net result would
be similar to what the mobile phone market is undergoing and volumes would be huge.
Companies Like bajaj, Tvs, Yamaha. need to watch for the above phases and evolve their
business plans such that they emerge as leaders. The challenges are many; the customs duties on
import of GPS devices are very high. There is enough market for all players and it is important
to encourage competition as an engine of growth. Overall, I can safely sum up that while the
past has been exciting and we have lived in interesting times , the future is going to be all the
more interesting and exciting than anyone has ever imagined. Several new markets will be
created and leaders will be made of existing companies or born out of new ones in this space. Let us
look forward to a huge growth in the coming years so that we can sit back and smile when it
actually does come our way.

Cameron s Use Of Camera Images In Avatar
Photography and imagery has seemed to attempt to serve one main purpose: accuracy. When
people use photographs in most of today s society, it is to show factual evidence that their
arguments and story are true. Two early devices that have shaped the use of photography are the
camera obscura and the stereoscope. Both use the eyes to attempt to create accurate depictions of
the world around them, especially in trying to allow people to see the parts of the world that are
foreign to them. The stereoscope s more objective representation of the world over the camera
obscura is used in James Cameron s Avatar as representations of how civilized populations skew the

James Cameron uses the natural world and how it works as a symbol of the unknown savages
that were target of American and European imperialist conquests and other parts of the unknown,
uncivilized world. The American group of military and science believe they are getting a true
view of the indigenous people on Pandora, a totally new environment for them. While a lot of the
scientists go into the world of Pandora using the bodies of the Na vi, immersing themselves into
the world as if they were looking at it in a stereoscopic way, the human society remains in the
camera obscura way of viewing the world: misinterpreted with details missing and disconnected.
They rely on the methods of science and what they learned from history about different races to
gather a picture of what they think life on Pandora is. There is a difference between the outside
world and the inside laboratories that they observe from, creating a disconnect between the reality
and the representation. Much like the World Fairs or the colonial idea of savagery, the humans take
on a belief that they are getting a true representation of the world around them, but in reality, they
are missing vital pieces to the puzzle. The Na vi connect with the world in a much different manner.

How Does Creon Use Allusions In Antigone
In his play Antigone, Sophocles makes extensive use of religious and cultural allusions in order to
develop ideas. Through the use of allusions to Zeus and other moral figures, he reinforces accepted
moral standards, heightening the conflict between Antigone s earthly morals and those of her
religion. Sophoclesalso shows the dangers of hubris through his allusions to the downfall of Niobe,
and Creons references to Nemesis. The motif of fate within Antigone and the rest of the Theban
plays is developed through his allusion to Danae, as well as his references the Oedipal prophecy

It is suggested by the chorus that Antigone her punishment is the expiation [she] must make for
the sin of her father (p149), and so an aspect of the unavoidable fate of the curse ridden (p149)
family of Oedipus. Oedipus fulfilled the prophecy of killing his father and marrying his mother
due to his own arrogance and proud spirit (p129), and in a similar way, Antigone brought her fate
upon herself through her obstinacy. The chorus compares the fate of Antigone to that of Danae,
the mother of Perseus, who was imprisoned in a brazen bower (p151) by King Acrisius in order to
avoid the prophecy that her son would kill him. However, ultimately, the prophecy was fulfilled, so
strong the mastering hand (p151) of Destiny, which hints at the similar inexorability of the fate of
Antigone, through her relation to Oedipus. It is interesting to see that while Antigone compares her
plight to that of Niobe, a goddess, the chorus chooses instead to compare her to Danae, a mortal, an
act which subtly reveals the arrogance of Antigone in her self comparison to the divine. A direct
reference the Fates itself is made in the context of the hard hands (p151) laid upon Antigone. This
manifestation of fate adds to the idea that the destiny of Antigone and Creon is somewhat out of

Loie Fuller s Influence On American Dance
1.INTRODUCTION

Samuel Beckett.
With the onset of 20th century was the beginning of the modern dance. It was born in America
due to a reason of an agitation against the two forms of dance which has been prevailing for a long
time, vaudeville and ballet. Loie Fuller, Isadora Duncan, Ruth St. Denis and Ted Shawn were the
forerunners of modern dance in America. Each had a different way of being unique and
representing the art form of modern dance in his or her own way. Where Loie Fuller began
experimenting with effects of gas lighting on silk costumes, Isadora Duncan discarded the
slippers and adapted a new kind of dress form more of which will be discussed later and so on.

Human Existence Is Dependent On Water
Human existence is dependent on water; without it we simply cannot survive. But what is
water? Water is defined in Chambers Science and Technology Dictionary (Chambers, 1988) as a
colourless, odourless, tasteless liquid comprising the chemical elements of hydrogen and oxide.
(Stookes, 2009, p. 328) Approximately 70% of the Earths surface is covered in water, however
only around 2.5% of this is fresh water which is fit for human consumption, and of this 2.5% less
than 1% is accessible. See (Change, 2006). Therefore it is imperative that the fresh water
supplies which human existence relies so heavily upon are kept free from pollution in all its
forms. UK Law Currently Defra and the National Assembly for Wales (NAW) are responsible
for all aspects of water policy in England and Wales, including water supply and resources and
the regulatory systems for the water environment and the water industry . (Stookes, 2009, p. 329)
However within the UK, laws to protect water supplies can be seen as far back as 1875 with the
Public Health Act and the Rivers Pollution Prevention Act 1876. It is from 1868 that the first
precedent case relating to water pollution can be found with the case of Rylands v Fletcher. The
pollutant in this case was not a dangerous substance but water itself in large quantities. This
historical reference highlights that water is a valuable resource that requires protection and
conservation but that it can also be a source of pollution, e.g. in cases of

Analysis Of The Article Simultaneity Of Oppression
Midterm Response Discuss and critically analyze the simultaneity of oppression if one group is
oppressed, can anybody be free? In the schematic hierarchy of race and sex, is the dominant
group free, at the expense of the oppressed groups, or unfree, even if materially empowered? Does
it make sense to argue that white women are freer, or less free, than black men ? The concept of the
simultaneity of oppression is relatively unknown, even within today s modern society. While there
are surely a multitude of reasons for its obscurity, it is likely due to the somewhat counterintuitive
idea the phrase itself suggests. It sounds ignorant to argue that oppression simultaneously affects
both the oppressor and the victim. However, this isn t an entirely accurate understanding of the
concept; rather, the simultaneity of oppression refers to the idea that if one group is oppressed, no
group is truly free. Although this still labels the oppressors as a marginalized group, when
rephrased, the concept is slightly more palatable. Before further examining what exactly the
simultaneity of oppression is and analyzing its effects, it s critical to make a key distinction.
Though the simultaneity of oppression certainly exists, it does not necessarily exist as an equal
oppression to both sides. This distinction may be helpful in understanding with the seemingly
counterintuitive concept and will be discussed in greater detail below. The simultaneity of

The Great Depression And President Roosevelt s New Deal
The 1930s, historically remembered for the Great Depression and President Roosevelt s New
Deal, demonstrated a time of great racial tension and segregation in America. Slavery dissolved
and the Ku Klux Klan became less popular; the struggle of African Americans, however, was not
over. Racial segregation thrived with half of African Americans out of work, their jobs
transfered to whites who were struggling from the Great Depression ( Race During the Great
Depression ). The New Deal, created to promote equality and produce jobs, proved largely
ineffective on the front of desegregation, doing little to help the black American community. One
place that African Americans were able to prosper: jazz. However, even the jazz community itself
remained segregated. Racial prejudice came from both fronts: whites did not want to mix socially
with Negroes, and blacks believed that when a Negro enters a White band, he loses his identity as
a Negro musician ( DownBeat Dodges the Racial Issue ). Benny Goodman, however, broke this
barrier, initially in 1935 with the first interracial jazz performance, and again in his 1938
Carnegie Hall concert featuring black musicians. Benny Goodman s career did not commence
with the Trio s 1935 performance; a clarinet player from a young age, Goodman initiated his
professional career in 1925 as a member of the Ben Pollack Orchestra. During his time with the
orchestra, he recorded his first solo on the song He s the Last Word. In 1931, Benny

Elizabeth Garbert s Spoiled Rotten
Letting your child take control is never a good thing. Children s spoiled behaviors is a very
commonly discussed problem amongst parents because children seem to be out of control when it
comes to discipline and listening. However, children in America seem to be particularly more
spoiled than children in other parts of the world. Why is that? Spoiled Rotten , an article written by
Elizabeth Kolbert, explains this very issue. American children are spoiled compared to other
children around the world because, they take away the authority from their parents, lack discipline,
and very little is expected of them. Excessive amounts of authority are spoiling American children.
This is because, with this authority, the roles are being reversed within

Jazz music is associated with long, lazy melodies and ornate rhythmical patterns, the Blues, also
follows this form. Langston Hughes poem, The Weary Blues, uses non traditional rhyme and meter
in order to reach the average individual, going against the conventional form that previous writers
had set in stone. A ragtime melody narrates the story of someone s demise and the resolution of
their situation just as Hughes poem, The Weary Blues, mimics the blues as it narrates a story about
the piano man. The The Weary Blues is dark which directly mimics the somewhat depressed plot
of the poem. Sound plays an essential role in Hughes poem as they reiterate the dull mood by ,

Individual Sense Of Coherence
The current study elaborates on the experiment conducted by Sansgiry and Kavita (2006) by
seeking to identify if an individuals sense of coherence and coping mechanisms are predictors of
testing anxiety amongst college students. Sense of coherence is considered to be a key faculty
contained with an individual s personality, which responds to a stressful event. Furthermore, an
increased sense of coherence allows an individual to effectively cope with negative events or
outcomes. Participants for this study were given questionnaires prior to the final exam of the
school year, which measured their anxietylevels. Researchers for the experiment compared their
anxiety levels with their final test scores. The outcome of the experiment indicates that students
who utilize emotions to cope with stressful situations had a lower sense of coherence. Alternatively,

The Pharisees History
Overview of the Pharisees History There were two main groups of Jews at the time of Jesus (the
Pharisees and the Sadducees). The very name Pharisee is derived from the Hebrew word to

manners of the world. In general, the Pharisees were the middle class, holding jobs like
merchants. They were very popular amongst the common people. Their power base was the

The Effects of Heroin Addiction
Heroin is illegal and highly addictive. (Dupont, 1997). It remains as the most common drug
among drug, among all the opiates (Lalander, 2003). The opiate is made from morphine.
Morphine occurs naturally in seed pops of various poppy plants. In most cases, it is sold as a brown
or black sticky powder. Currently, purer forms of heroinare becoming more common in the streets
today (Research Council of Norway, 2013).
Many heroin addicts usually inject or smoke it. On average, a heroin addict may inject three or
four times in a day. The intravenous injection has been associated with the greatest intensity by
heroin users. It is associated with an immense rapid onset of euphoria. When smoked or even
puffed, peak effects are experienced after ten to fifteen minutes. Smoking or even puffing, does not
produce a rush effect (Research Council of Norway, 2013)
The United States survey on drug abuse has identified that, 2.4 million People in the country, had
used heroin at a point in their lives (Research Council of Norway, 2013). 130, 000 of them,
reported that they had used the substance a month before the survey. The report estimates that, in

Alliteration In Cold Blood
Part four, T he Corner, of Truman Capote s novel I n Cold Blood, depicts the executions of Perry
Smith and Richard Hickock. The two were found guilty of murdering the entire Clutter family in
cold blood . In this part, Truman Capote goes into great detail to describe their six drawn out
years on death row. The passage portrays the scene when Dick gets executed. Perry s execution is
depicted directly after the passage. This passage serves as closure to the reader, ending the life of
one of the protagonists.
The passage commences with the alliteration of the selfВconsciously casual conversation ,
describing the dialogue between the witnesses and the jury, from the perspective of Dewey. The

Dick s catharsis of him saying he had no hard feelings because he was being [sent] to a better

saying you people are sending me to a better world , Dick was attempting to convince the jury and
those in charge of his execution that keeping him alive would be a better punishment than death.
This catharsis further characterizes Dick with his underlying fear of death and his egotistical

evoking pity in the audience when Dick finally shakes hands with the people at his execution,
saying Nice to see you , and then describing it as if he were greeting guests at his own funeral .
The purpose of a pleasant finale and describing Dick as having a charming smile , serves to remind

The Pros of Being a Vegetarian
Pro Planet. Pro Animals. Pro Health: The Pros of Vegetarianism. Vegetarianism, is it just a fad, or
will it continue to cultivate and grow more mainstream than it is today? All signs are indicating
that it will, indeed, continue to grow. As many as 3.2% to 6% of the U.S. adult population is a
vegetarian (Parker 1). If one loves life, why not try vegetarianism? Having a vegetarian diet not
only saves animals, but also improves health and uses less of our planet s diminishing resources.
The earliest known practice of vegetarianism was in ancient Greece. Vegetarianism was encouraged
by the famous Greek philosophers, such as Pythagoras and Socrates. They stated that it was unclean

Eating just one pound of meat emits the same amount of greenhouse gasses as driving an SUV for

vegetarians are the rights of animals. It has been reported that the average American will consume
nineteen thousand animals in his or her lifetime. There are many absolutely grotesque and
gruesome stories of animals waiting to die, stories that I will not divulge here, but the magnitude of
it is worthy of researching on one s own time. The ethical treatment of animals a moral that many

with the many other reasons; vegetarianism is too hard to turn a blind eye towards. Vegetarianism
has become mainstream in many ways because of the many celebrities that practice it. Some of the

increase chances for survival of life on earth as much as the evolution to a vegetarian diet. Another

Commodified Labor Power
Commodified labor power is sustained by personal reproductive and female reproductive labor.
Both of these forms of labor are lesser recognized because they don t directly produce
profit...unlike slavery. Slave labor is less recognized by consumers in today s economy because it
is the most extreme exploitation of a human s laborpower, and the commodification of humans
allows the consumer to delay thinking of where the labor came from, or ignore it altogether.
Individuals laboring as slaves give the most to capitalismwith virtually no return. Simultaneously,
an abusive industry grows and its investors profit and thrive from the capital surplus derived from
free labor. Slavery exists all around the world and affects everyone from the clothes they buy to the
food they eat. Although the the 13th Amendment to the U.S. constitution abolished slavery, it still
allows for it to be used as a punishment for crime (13th Amendment, 2016). Therefore, inside the
United States, any prisoner is subject to involuntary servitude and extreme exploitation for capital
gain.
Capital gain is reliant on exploitation by some means. Social division of labor is imperative to the
continuation of human labor exploitation. It coincides with consumers ignoring the condition of
labor behind a product. Even when the exploitation of labor is understood, it s perpetuated by every
class reliance on manufactured goods. Primitive accumulation, coined by Karl Marx, is a form of
exploitation that was critical to the switch from feudalism to capitalism it was the process in which
people were dispossessed of their personal means of production and forced into wage labor. In

The textbooks need to set out many more classroom activities and exercises. The greatest need is
for the teachers books to be in Swahili. This would be in line with most other countries where the
teachers materials are in the native language, or L1. For instance, in England teachers who teach
French have all their teachers materials in English. This is essential if they are to understand the
instructions and explanations. It is pretentious and suicidal in Tanzania to continue to give the
teachers materials in English when Swahili is the commonly understood language. 2
Another problem is the lack of differentiation between the pupils and the allocation of teachers.
There is urgent need to differentiate between the younger pupils and the older pupils; partly
because of the pupils developmental stages but also because of the allocation of teachers. Thus
pre primary, Standard I and Standard II pupils have teachers who are with them all day long and
the teachers allocated to those pupils tend to have lesser subject skills than those teachers allocated
to older pupils. The older pupils are taught English by teachers who have some subject knowledge,
but who only teach for time tabled 40 minute periods. These two categories deserve urgent, separate
attention. Pre primary, Standard I and Standard II pupils are only just beginning to gain literacy and

The film follows the lives of five high school teenagers through their final year of high school in

The MRAP program followed the normal defense acquisition process, but some aspects of the
program cannot be duplicated easily. Conatser and Grizio outlined four requirements for a rapid

support by the leadership, and full funding. The MRAP program met all these requirements.
There were several MRAP type vehicles already in full production mode that just needed to be

later shown to be insufficient to defeat all IED threats as the Insurgents increased the size of
IEDs and used Explosive Formed Projectiles (EFP), the commanders in Iraq accepted MRAPs.
There were several politicians pushing the U.S. military to procure MRAPs quickly as possible.

your computer. Overclocking is setting your CPU and memory so that it will run faster than the
recommended manufacturer speed. When you overclock your computer, there are some
precautions that you will want to take: 1) Overclocking will cause your computer to run much
warmer so it is required that it has good ventilation. 2) If you notice that your computer is
starting to run too hot, you need to better ventilate the computer, or just dial down the
overclocking a little bit until it reaches safe temperatures. 3) The speed of the CPU and memory
should be slowly increased. If the speed is increased too much then the computer may not start,
or it may become unstable and crash. Another feature that some CPU s have is called Hyper
Threading. This is a process in which a single CPU acts like two separate CPU s. It splits each
core in half, so that it can perform multitasking a little bit faster. A common misconception is that
Hyper Threading is the same as just doubling the cores, and this is not true. The number of cores
are doubled, but not the power of the cores. The power of the cores are split in half. Hyper
Threading does not have a substantial influence in the speed of the computer, but it will help a little
when multitasking. If the computer is being used for gaming, then Hyper Threading will not have
an impact in the quality of the game. If the computer is being used for video

The Downfall Of A Dystopian Society
A wise man of his time, Robert Kiyosaki states For something to collapse, not all systems have to
shut down. In most cases, just one system is enough. If just one system, such as the
cardiovascular system, shuts down, death follows . Robert s statement reminds all of a weak
dystopian society, fragile enough to break by one individual. In the dystopian novel, Delirium
by Lauren Oliver, major motion picture Divergent directed by Neil Burger as well as written by
Veronica Roth, and published journal How power corrupts leaders written by Dr. Ronald E.
Riggio one sees how a single catalyst leads to the downfall of the entire society. In all three
works, one sees the collapse of a dystopian society is a result of the triumph of love, the triumph
over fear as well as the triumph over the government s own corrupted power. First of all, in the
novel Delirium one can analyze the downfall of a dystopian civilization due to the triumph of
love. Lena Haloway, the protagonist of the novel lives in a world where the thought and any
expression that relates to love is illegal, as well as the entire concept of loving one another
between the opposite sexes is a crime. Lena unknowingly falls in love with an invalid individual
who still needs to go for the curing process for love; Alex. Lena shares her emotions with him in
private, I love you remember they cannot take it! . This is substantial as Lena s inner feelings are
reflective of her love, a rebellious action in her world where love is

Age Discrimination In Employment Act (ADEA)
I m responding to question 1 about the displacement of the 52 year old male manager. In this
case, the employer might have violated the Age Discrimination in Employment Act (ADEA),
which protects against age based discrimination on employees aged 40 and above. ADEA applies
if the company has more than 20 employees and the business activities affect interstate commerce.
However, to prove that the employer has indeed violated ADEA, the employee must show that age
was the sole reason for his layoff. This could prove difficult in court though, because under ADEA,
the plaintiff bears the burden of proof. If his supervisor made no open comments about him being
too old, it could be very difficult to prove that the decision to terminate him was based

Hope In The Trojan Women
Troy lies in ruins after Greek armies win the Trojan War and ransack the city. The Trojan Women
is not to a great extent a tragic account; however a depiction of a tragic situation of the horrors of
war and its aftermath, whereby Euripides dramatizes the hardships of war and to some extent is an
ironical illustration of hope. Euripides often uses unconventional views of Greek society,
particularly the life of women and slaves; in the The Trojan Women we establish that the slave
women encompass a nobility state of mind that stands in unusual contrast to the inhumanity of the
victorious Greek warriors. The terrors of war have hardly changed within thousands of years. We
can say the same about war now, Euripides was trying to say with his play... Show more content on

Helen s situation is also distinguished by the fact that she is the only woman targeted by the
Trojan women themselves for hatred and condemnation. They accuse her of being the cause of
the war that has brought death to all the Trojan warrior heroes and has culminated in the downfall
of Troy itself. She is also considered to be the nuisance of her own kinsmen, the Greeks. In the
eyes of the Trojan women, including Hecuba, Helen lacks womanly virtues and is completely
bereaved of refined sentiments. Her renowned beauty is a trap that she deliberately and
opportunistically utilizes to manipulate men like Paris in her greedy quest for bodily pleasures and

Comparison Of Jane Eyre And Jane Eyre
Comparison between the novel Jane Eyre by Charlotte BrontГ«, and the homologous film from 1996
Berendi Camelia, EN CH
The 1847 novel by Charlotte BrontГ« has seen numerous film adaptations, which only added to its
vast popularity. The bildungsroman follows the plain featured, poor, but honest, intelligent and
dignified orphan s development from an oppressed young girl to an independent woman who has
found balance between her often conflicting principles and sentiments. In her quest for a home and
a family to belong to, Jane Eyre searches for both intellectual and emotional fulfillment, while
strongly making a statement about women s role in the Victorian society, gender and social iniquity
and discrimination. The themes of the novel remain ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
John, his character and marriage proposal is not sufficiently emphasized in the film, neither is
the fact that Jane actually considered his request to marry him and go as missionaries in India.
It is a fairly significant moment in Jane s life, having encountered with a second proposal and
romantic prospect, although so unlike the first one. St. John serves as a foil to Rochester: the
first one is cold, austere, ambitious, religious and reserved, while the other is passionate,
impetuous, dark and mysterious. Marrying Rochester, Jane would fulfill her emotional need for
love and affection but would neglect her duty to her moral principles and to her dignity (by
becoming a mistress while Bertha was still alive). On the other hand, marrying St. John would
bring her spiritual and moral satisfaction (as she would have a religious and righteous partner),
while also leading a meaningful life as a missionary in India and having the opportunity to be
more than just a governess, but, nonetheless, it would be a loveless, passionless marriage. This
internal battle Jane faces between having to choose whether to gratify her emotions or her moral
principles is not highlighted in the film, although, in my opinion, it represents a crucial point in
her life. In the novel, she earnestly considers St. John s proposal before finally making her
decision: Shall I? I said briefly; and I looked at his features, beautiful in their harmony, but strangely

This provides an explanation for why gangs are affecting the youth. They sell the product to the
teens and women in bulk in a low price still making profit. Then the teens and the women sell the
drugs in smaller quantities for higher prices to their friends ,people in the streets, classmates and
make they make profit through that. The teens and women that are making money through selling
those drugs can also be users of those drugs also. Which can lead them to a lifestyle of just selling
drugs and being an addict.
Gangs today are a lot smarter than they were in the 80s and 90s. In the article by Bryan

Summary Of The Devil And Miss Prym
Comparison between Hero and The Devil In Miss Prym The book The Devil And Miss Prym by
Paulo Coelho and the movie Hero starring Jet Li even though in different languages, share a
plethora of similarities. The Devil And Miss Prym tells the story of a young woman from the
village of Visco, Chantal Prym. Her life was very simple and seemed so innocent, until the Devil
walked into Visco and offered her something she so strongly felt she deserved a way out of
Visco. Of course there was a small price to pay, somebody had to die. After this day Chantal lived
with a devil on one shoulder and an angel on the other, constantly fighting to win her over. In the
end Gods light shined brighter and Chantal was able to make the right decisions, saving herself
and her village. The movie Hero by Jet Liwas about an orphaned, nameless, assassin who blamed
the King for the death of his family, and wanted revenge. He was able to get within 10 paces of
the restless King making him believe he killed the 3 assassins that had been after him. The king
soon realized that Nameless s story did not add up and he had to be an assassin. Even so, he chose
a different fate, because of what broken sword had taught to him. This was his highest ideal, and
with that knowledge the desire to killno longer existed, only peace, not revenge. When not blinded
by hate he was able to see the King s mission to unite all of China, and Spared, his life only after
passing on these wise words. Each main character dealt a with a Person Versus Self battle, both
stories had common archetypes with some playing the innocent and others the Sage, and both
stories share a philosophy that is utilitarianism.
In both of these stories the biggest battle of all was fought within the mind of the main character.
Chantal faced this throughout much of the story as she questioned whether should she steal the
gold? Should she tell the villagers of the message the devil shared with her? Should she help
Berta? It was a tough battle between her morals, her ego and what she felt she deserved after
living her whole life in Visco, even though she was different than everyone else there. In the end
she ended up realizing she wasn t so different from them after all. She was able

Challenges In Night By Elie Wiesel
During the Holocaust they counted that 6 million Jews died. The Jews faced many difficulties,
death being the main one. In the book Night by Elie Wiesel, he told his story of the difficulties he
faced during the Holocaust. The Nazis were horrible to the Jews; they gave them little food, made
them march many miles, worked them long hard hours, and when on the train they had little air.
Because Elie Wieselovercame his difficulties he faced during the Holocaust, I feel I can overcome

many times during the book it talks about Wiesel s problems. Elie s first problem would be when
he was in Buna, a concentration camp. This was a problem for Wiesel because he didn t have
food, water, and at sometimes air. In the book Elie says At ten o clock we were given our daily
ration of bread (Wiesel 34 ). This quote shows how that they only got bread once a day from
their SS Officers, and that they didn t have food. Another problem Wiesel had is the loss of
family. Elie got taken away from his mom and sister when they were deported on the train but got
to stay with his father. Elie says I certainly do. But on one condition: I want to stay with my father
(Wiesel 35). With Elie being taken away from his mom and sister, he wanted to stay with his father
through the whole thing. Wiesel s father was his strength to stay alive. Elie had tough adversities
he had to go through in his life and he was strong and overcame them.

Black Dynamite Analysis
Though the majority of Black Dynamite s audience misinterpreted this episode s theme some
audience members, more than The Boondocks, are respectful and actually understands the show s
intent to a certain extent. This may be due to the show having a smaller audience than The
Boondocks and Black Dynamite not using extremely overt racism. For example, The Boondockson
the nigga moment episode uses the N word ten times in the first two minutes of the episode and a
total of fifty times throughout the episode (2005). On the contrary, Black Dynamite hardly uses
the N word at all in any of its episodes. This is probably why many of the racial comments are
made on The Boondocks episodes since it is easier to point out the racial stereotypes than... Show

Inevitably the kick starter failed and the movie was never made due to fans becoming fearful of
what might be shown on the movie after reading these forums and articles. This resulted in many
audience members viewing the show in a different context and realizing their misinterpretation
(g4leader46, 2013). Though there is evidence of a reverse effect of the Reward System theory
occurring many audience members of The Boondocks were unaware of the movie being made
resulting in only a few fans realizing how much they misunderstood the context of the show.
Even if the majority of the fans of The Boondocks were aware of this and changed their views of
the show The Boondocks is still gaining fans in the year 2016 since the show occasionally plays
on Adult Swim and is available on Netflix resulting in a new group of fans supporting one another

How Did Roman Architecture Used To Build Colosseum
Rome was one of the last of the ancient civilizations that had the most impact on today s modern
architecture, and engineering, leaving some of the most famous monuments to this day, with this

The baths of Caracalla, Appian Roads, The Pantheon, The Famous Aqueducts, The Trajan s Forum
and learn a little about the city of Pompeii.
The Coliseum: One of the best examples of Rome architecture and engineering achievements and
still famous today is the Colosseum. Built in 72 A.D. by Emperor Vespasian, it was believed that it
required over 4,600,000 cubic feet of stone blocks set in place without cement, but held together
by 300 tons of iron clamps. The Coliseum was engineered to seat up to 50,000 spectators and was
mainly used for gladiator games and other public entertainment, such as animal battles, there was
also believed to be some sea battles, religious plays, and execution.
Circus Maximus: It was the first and the largest stadium for public games built in the entire
Roman era, and be that inspired many more like it. At over 2,000 feet long and nearly 400 feet
wide, it easily fit 150,000 spectators. known for its murderous ... Show more content on

Essay about Interracial Marriages Proposal

Introduction
To see a black man and a white woman walking down the street holding hands used to be unheard
of. It was a relationship that, for the few who engaged in it, was kept as quiet as possible. During
the fifties and sixties, interracial dating was not socially acceptable and there were repercussions
for those who were involved in such behaviors because various laws, such as the Jim Crow laws,
which kept the different races/ethnicities separate and it was seen as extremely socially deviant to

Additionally, there have been theoretical proposals for the existence of other predictors of attitudes
and actions, which may be relevant to the current research. Recent studies have found that
controlling for other variables, significant predictors of opposition to a law banning interracial
marriage include being non white, being younger, holding a liberal ideology, identifying as a
democrat, having greater income, having a greater level of education, being less religious, and
living outside of the South (Haider Markel and Joslyn 2005). For some of these predictors,
theoretical explanations have been proposed. Various researchers have conducted investigations
into the many aspects of this type of relationship and have concluded that an increase in interracial
marriages has occurred. This increase may be the result of numerous factors, including the
Supreme Court lifting of the legal restrictions on racial intermarriage in 1967, the decrease in
White prejudice against Blacks, and the narrowing of the racial gap in education, income, and
occupation (Kalmijn 1993). However, Kalmijn (1993) states that although these factors may have
resulted in an increase in interracial marriages, other factors may counter this effect. For instance,
there has been an increase in Black unemployment, a rise in the racial gap of college enrollment,
and part of

Censorship In 1984 And Today s North Korean Government
Censorship
Potter Stewart, an Associate Justice of the United States Supreme Court, once said, Censorship
reflects a society s lack of confidence in itself ( Potter Stewart Quotes ). A well built, structured
society can tolerate dissent. On the other hand, some governments censors their citizens to suppress
opposing opinions. This is relevant to the novel 1984, by George Orwell, and today s North Korean
government as both countries use the same types of censorship to censor information and ideas and
influence their citizens opinions. In the novel, the totalitarian government, which is called the Party
ruled by a god like figure who is Big Brother, controls every aspect of human life ranging from

It s a beautiful thing, the Destruction of words. Of course the great wastage is in the verbs and
adjectives, but there are hundreds of nouns that can be got rid of as well. It isn t only the

  • 2. To What Extent Do You Predict That The Boiling Point Of... Making Soap: Lab 1.A saponification reaction is considered to be the reverse of an esterification reaction because in an esterification, a carboxylic acid is combined with an alcohol to produce an ester and water; and in a saponification, an ester is combined with lye (Na+ + OH ) to produce the salt of a carboxylic acid and an alcohol. Essentially, the products and reactants are opposites of each other in either reaction. 2.The functional groups in glycerol are hydroxyl groups (OH). It belongs to the alcohol family and, due to its three hydroxyl groups, it is polar with a high bp/mp/H2O sol. 3.I predict that the boiling point of glycerol will be higher than that of ethanol because ethanol only has one hydroxyl group and glycerol has three. Glycerol s three hydroxyl groups make it more polar than ethanol (larger polar region compared to its non polar region); and therefore, it requires more energy to break its bonds. 4.I predict that glycerol is soluble in polar solvents because it is highly polar itself, and polar substances ... Fats are soluble in non polar substances because they have large non polar regions, making them have a low polarity, and like dissolves like . 10.glycerol + 3 stearic acid в†’ triglyceride + 3 water molecules 11.The active ingredient in vinegar is acetic acid. The reaction between acetic acid and sodium hydroxide is called a neutralization reaction. NaOH(aq) + CH3COOH(aq) в†’ NaCH3COO(aq) + H2O(l) 12.This procedure for making soap was relatively successful. While we followed all of the steps as accurately as possible, it proved difficult to get all measurements entirely exact (ie. residual oil/glycerol was left behind during the transfer to beaker B). To test our soap s lather ability, we filled a clean 250 mL beaker with water from the tap and placed our soap bar into it. We agitated the contents until a decent bit of soapsuds formed; however, we determined that our soap was basic, as spots of blue appeared on the litmus ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 3. Strict Constructionist Dbq When it comes to the understanding of the Constitution, Jeffersonian Republicans are generally characterized as strict constructionists who were opposed to the broad constructionism of the Federalists. This characterization however, fails to take into account the complexities of the domestic and foreign policies supported during the presidencies of Jefferson and Madison, as well as ideas held by the Federalists support the idea that they supported some principles of a strict constitutional interpretation when it suited their cause. Between 1801 and 1817 it is clear to see that both parties to some extent crossed their political lines when it was the best way to achieve their political agendas. On August 13th 1800, before his election Thomas Jeffersonwrote to Gideon Granger, a future member of Jefferson s cabinet, about taking down the Federalists, protecting the state s rights, and that the Constitution is the wisest piece of political literature to address the needs of such a varying and diverse nation(Doc. A). Thomas Jefferson was the Third president of the United States, the primary author of the Declaration of independence, and believed that America should grow as an agrarian nation with a limited central government and strong state governments. This document shows that Jeffersonian Republicans were strict interpreters of the Constitution by telling us directly that changing the federal constitution to hurt state governments defines this new nation as a monarchy, and ... • 4. How Did Nehemiah Break Their Stone Wall When Nehemiah s plan was put into action he started to receive opposition from surrounding nations. Sanballat, Tobiah, the Arabs, the Ammonites, and the Ashdodites were the people that tried to halt the building of the wall. When Sanballat heard of the rebuilding he became angry and mocked the Jews saying, Can they revive the stones from the dusty ruble even the burned ones? Tobiah responded with negativity, Even what they are building if a fox should jump on it, he would break their stone wall (Neh 4:1 3). In verses 4 5 Nehemiah called out to the Lord against the people who are showing opposition. Nehemiah asked the Lord to punish the opposition for trying to stop the Lord s plan and discouraging his people. The wall was built to half the height, and the surrounding nations were encouraged to work before the enemy started to affect the building. All of these enemies conspired to come against Jerusalem because the breaches within the walls had been closed and they no longer had control over Jerusalem (Neh 4:4 8). Amongst the People... Nehemiah trusted in the Lord, but he assembled defense because prayer does not eliminate the need to take practical measures ( Nehemiah Chapter 4. ). Nehemiah encourages the people by saying do not be afraid of them; remember the Lord who is great and awesome, and fight for your brothers, your sons, your daughter, your wives, and your house (Neh ... • 6. Schick Razors Advertisement Analysis Essay In a Game Informer magazine, I have found an advertisement for a Schick razor. The line of pictures of bald men caught my eye, so I had to take a minute to see what this advertisement promotes. Schick razors continue to rise as one of the most popular brands of razors for men and women. You can find their advertisements virtually anywhere. This particular advertisement is for a newly designed razorwith a curved front, making it easier to get a close shave. Schick targets the male populations with this advertisement. This advertisement has two pictures. The first shows four large, boldly framed pictures of professionally dressed, aged bald men hanging on the wall. Underneath of these pictures, three younger men set in white chairs lined up against the same wall, fidgeting with things. Another young man sits in a chair facing to the side, separated from the others by an end table, looking up at the pictures hanging on the wall. All the young men look sharply dressed and all have full heads of styled hair. In the top corner, it says interview starts in 15 minutes . The second picture shows the same scene, except the man sitting in the chair facing to the side, has shaved all his hair off. Him and an older bald gentleman, who has just entered the room to call someone back for an interview, exchange... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The razor, not the main focus, got overlooked easily when I first viewed the ad. The razor has a unique design with its curved front, so I think that it should have taken center stage in the advertisement, since the razor will sell and not the men. I remained too focused on looking at the men, trying to figure out why the all sat there and why one guy had a bald head so quickly so I didn t even see the razor. I had to look a little to finally realize what the advertisement promoted. If I plan to buy something based off an advertisement, I do not want to have to solve a puzzle to know what they plan to ... On Oct 7, 1930, Bhagat Singh and two others, Shivram Rajguru and Sukh Dev were sentenced to be hanged by a Special Tribunal for murder of John Poyantz Saunders in Lahore. They intended to kill J.A Scott, who they believed had struck the blows on Lala Lajpat Rai during a procession in Lahore on 30 October 1928.The entire country was exercised over the Simon Commission. Nehru called the phenomenon of Bhagat Singh due to man`s spotlessly clean life and a selflessness that defines belief. Bhagat Singh said Religion was the private concern of a person but it had to be fought as an enemy when it intruded into politics. His associate Shiv Verma was a pamphleteer in the great tradition. An article he wrote in 1927 entitled Communal Riots and their Cure has a contemporary relevance: The Martyrs of 1914 1915 had separated religion from politics and were convinced that religion was the private affair of an indivisual. • 8. Comparing Two Photos When I was little, one of my favorite things to draw was my house. I don t know why I loved it so much, but I loved drawing my yard and how big my house was. Something about drawing my home was special to me. As I looked through the website, there were many well drawn and colored pictures but two stuck out the most to me. These two students that drew these pictures where asked to draw a picture of where they live. The pictures are similar in many ways as well as different in many ways. Image A was drawn in 2004 by a 6 8 year old female. In this picture, she drew her house starting on the baseline of the paper, which shows she is in the symbol making stage. Her house is a blue square with a black triangle as the roof. Her house... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Image B shows a visual element of line. The lines of the house are straight, smooth and firm. It is easy to tell they took their time while trying to draw the house, while image A s lines are more curved and loose. It looks like they didn t use a ruler or worry about how straight their lines were. Image B also used her lines to show depth, for example on the house she made it 3D to let us viewers see the depth of her house. Image A does not use line to show depth. Instead, she drew her lines to show the viewers the front of the house and only the front. Although image A is more of a free drawing picture, I think it has more details in the picture. Image A has windows on the house and she show her flag pole next to the house, yet image B has no windows on the house and nothing in the yard. Another difference in the drawings is the backgrounds. Image A does not have background, grass or sky but image B has a yard full of grass, a sky and clouds. Within these images, you can tell image A is in the symbol making stage and image B is in the preadolescent stage. Image A draws their picture on the baseline of the paper and the sizing of the objects are not accurate. Such as, the door is too big for the house while the roof is too small. Both of these are characteristics of the symbol making stage. However, image B s baseline has disappeared and their objects are all accurate showing they are in the preadolescent stage. As stated earlier as a similarity, both images used stereotypical objects. However, it is also a difference because image B uses less stereotypical objects and features within the house showing they are a stage ahead of image A. Lastly, the difference between the two images is image A is made with crayon and image B is made with color ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 9. Lord Of The Flies And Human Nature Essay Human nature defines the general psychological behaviors of humans when in a primitive or natural state. In the movies and books in this course human nature is a very prevalent theme and controls the events throughout. In The Mist by Stephen King, the characters start out with their civility and slowly break down and do things that show they will do anything to survive. In Lord of the Flies by William Golding, the boys get stranded on an island and use a form of order to keep their civilized lives intact but soon turn to savagery and destruction. This character is Ralph, and he stands for civilization and wanting to be saved from this tragedy. Only days after this so called election, a few boys realize they need to hunt and kill for meat to survive. They lose all thought of being rescued. Just within a matter of days these boys were a group of savages, dancing around fires, sharpening hunting and killing spears, and attacking Ralph and whoever else continued to live with a civilized manner. These boys were finally free of any adult supervision or authority and wanted to act like human nature intends, with the thought of living at the top of the food chain and surviving in the face of death being their only priority. Towards the end of the story the group of savage boys, who called themselves a tribe, murdered the character Piggy . This character represented the hope of civilization for the stranded group of boys. He was the only one who saw their situation for what it really was. When he was killed, Ralph even lost hope and began to fight and run to survive. The only reason these boys survived was the eventual coming of the military that spotted the forest fires being started by the tribe to burn out and murder Ralph. Once they saw an actual adult again they all broke down and regained their vision on what they had all done on this island. Although still at a nascent stage in India, the GPS navigation market holds tremendous potential for growth, driven by its increasing acceptance among the younger generation as well as the exponential growth in popularity in car as well as in bike. In this phase vendors should expect that the product itselfwill become invisible, market reach will be critical, all will need to look at new markets within existing segments. From a consumer perspective it will become a commodity product, people with new toy syndrome would change devices periodically and price would be the only factor when taking decisions. The net result would be similar to what the mobile phone market is undergoing and volumes would be huge. Companies Like bajaj, Tvs, Yamaha. need to watch for the above phases and evolve their business plans such that they emerge as leaders. The challenges are many; the customs duties on import of GPS devices are very high. There is enough market for all players and it is important to encourage competition as an engine of growth. Overall, I can safely sum up that while the past has been exciting and we have lived in interesting times , the future is going to be all the more interesting and exciting than anyone has ever imagined. Oedipus fulfilled the prophecy of killing his father and marrying his mother due to his own arrogance and proud spirit (p129), and in a similar way, Antigone brought her fate upon herself through her obstinacy. The chorus compares the fate of Antigone to that of Danae, the mother of Perseus, who was imprisoned in a brazen bower (p151) by King Acrisius in order to avoid the prophecy that her son would kill him. It is interesting to see that while Antigone compares her plight to that of Niobe, a goddess, the chorus chooses instead to compare her to Danae, a mortal, an act which subtly reveals the arrogance of Antigone in her self comparison to the divine. Water is defined in Chambers Science and Technology Dictionary (Chambers, 1988) as a colourless, odourless, tasteless liquid comprising the chemical elements of hydrogen and oxide. (Stookes, 2009, p. 328) Approximately 70% of the Earths surface is covered in water, however only around 2.5% of this is fresh water which is fit for human consumption, and of this 2.5% less than 1% is accessible. See (Change, 2006). Therefore it is imperative that the fresh water supplies which human existence relies so heavily upon are kept free from pollution in all its forms. (Stookes, 2009, p. 329) However within the UK, laws to protect water supplies can be seen as far back as 1875 with the Public Health Act and the Rivers Pollution Prevention Act 1876. It is from 1868 that the first precedent case relating to water pollution can be found with the case of Rylands v Fletcher. • 18. Analysis Of The Article Simultaneity Of Oppression Midterm Response Discuss and critically analyze the simultaneity of oppression if one group is oppressed, can anybody be free? In the schematic hierarchy of race and sex, is the dominant group free, at the expense of the oppressed groups, or unfree, even if materially empowered? Does it make sense to argue that white women are freer, or less free, than black men ? The concept of the simultaneity of oppression is relatively unknown, even within today s modern society. While there are surely a multitude of reasons for its obscurity, it is likely due to the somewhat counterintuitive idea the phrase itself suggests. It sounds ignorant to argue that oppression simultaneously affects both the oppressor and the victim. However, this isn t an entirely accurate understanding of the concept; rather, the simultaneity of oppression refers to the idea that if one group is oppressed, no group is truly free. Although this still labels the oppressors as a marginalized group, when rephrased, the concept is slightly more palatable. Before further examining what exactly the simultaneity of oppression is and analyzing its effects, it s critical to make a key distinction. Though the simultaneity of oppression certainly exists, it does not necessarily exist as an equal oppression to both sides. This distinction may be helpful in understanding with the seemingly counterintuitive concept and will be discussed in greater detail below. The simultaneity of oppression is largely ... • 19. The Great Depression And President Roosevelt s New Deal The 1930s, historically remembered for the Great Depression and President Roosevelt s New Deal, demonstrated a time of great racial tension and segregation in America. Slavery dissolved and the Ku Klux Klan became less popular; the struggle of African Americans, however, was not over. Racial segregation thrived with half of African Americans out of work, their jobs transfered to whites who were struggling from the Great Depression ( Race During the Great Depression ). The New Deal, created to promote equality and produce jobs, proved largely ineffective on the front of desegregation, doing little to help the black American community. One place that African Americans were able to prosper: jazz. However, even the jazz community itself remained segregated. Racial prejudice came from both fronts: whites did not want to mix socially with Negroes, and blacks believed that when a Negro enters a White band, he loses his identity as a Negro musician ( DownBeat Dodges the Racial Issue ). Benny Goodman, however, broke this barrier, initially in 1935 with the first interracial jazz performance, and again in his 1938 Carnegie Hall concert featuring black musicians. Benny Goodman s career did not commence with the Trio s 1935 performance; a clarinet player from a young age, Goodman initiated his professional career in 1925 as a member of the Ben Pollack Orchestra. Both of these forms of labor are lesser recognized because they don t directly produce profit...unlike slavery. Slave labor is less recognized by consumers in today s economy because it is the most extreme exploitation of a human s laborpower, and the commodification of humans allows the consumer to delay thinking of where the labor came from, or ignore it altogether. Individuals laboring as slaves give the most to capitalismwith virtually no return. Simultaneously, an abusive industry grows and its investors profit and thrive from the capital surplus derived from free labor. Slavery exists all around the world and affects everyone from the clothes they buy to the food they eat. Although the the 13th Amendment to the U.S. constitution abolished slavery, it still allows for it to be used as a punishment for crime (13th Amendment, 2016). This would be in line with most other countries where the teachers materials are in the native language, or L1. It is pretentious and suicidal in Tanzania to continue to give the teachers materials in English when Swahili is the commonly understood language. 2 Another problem is the lack of differentiation between the pupils and the allocation of teachers. There is urgent need to differentiate between the younger pupils and the older pupils; partly because of the pupils developmental stages but also because of the allocation of teachers. Thus pre primary, Standard I and Standard II pupils have teachers who are with them all day long and the teachers allocated to those pupils tend to have lesser subject skills than those teachers allocated to older pupils. Overclocking is setting your CPU and memory so that it will run faster than the recommended manufacturer speed. When you overclock your computer, there are some precautions that you will want to take: 1) Overclocking will cause your computer to run much warmer so it is required that it has good ventilation. 2) If you notice that your computer is starting to run too hot, you need to better ventilate the computer, or just dial down the overclocking a little bit until it reaches safe temperatures. 3) The speed of the CPU and memory should be slowly increased. If the speed is increased too much then the computer may not start, or it may become unstable and crash. Another feature that some CPU s have is called Hyper Threading. This is a process in which a single CPU acts like two separate CPU s. It splits each core in half, so that it can perform multitasking a little bit faster. A common misconception is that Hyper Threading is the same as just doubling the cores, and this is not true. The number of cores are doubled, but not the power of the cores. The power of the cores are split in half. Hyper Threading does not have a substantial influence in the speed of the computer, but it will help a little when multitasking. If the computer is being used for gaming, then Hyper Threading will not have an impact in the quality of the game. If the computer is being used for video ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Summary Of The Devil And Miss Prym Comparison between Hero and The Devil In Miss Prym The book The Devil And Miss Prym by Paulo Coelho and the movie Hero starring Jet Li even though in different languages, share a plethora of similarities. The Devil And Miss Prym tells the story of a young woman from the village of Visco, Chantal Prym. Her life was very simple and seemed so innocent, until the Devil walked into Visco and offered her something she so strongly felt she deserved a way out of Visco. Of course there was a small price to pay, somebody had to die. After this day Chantal lived with a devil on one shoulder and an angel on the other, constantly fighting to win her over. In the end Gods light shined brighter and Chantal was able to make the right decisions, saving herself and her village. The movie Hero by Jet Liwas about an orphaned, nameless, assassin who blamed the King for the death of his family, and wanted revenge. He was able to get within 10 paces of the restless King making him believe he killed the 3 assassins that had been after him. The king soon realized that Nameless s story did not add up and he had to be an assassin. Even so, he chose a different fate, because of what broken sword had taught to him. This was his highest ideal, and with that knowledge the desire to killno longer existed, only peace, not revenge. When not blinded by hate he was able to see the King s mission to unite all of China, and Spared, his life only after passing on these wise words. Each main character dealt a with a Person Versus Self battle, both stories had common archetypes with some playing the innocent and others the Sage, and both stories share a philosophy that is utilitarianism. In both of these stories the biggest battle of all was fought within the mind of the main character. Chantal faced this throughout much of the story as she questioned whether should she steal the gold? Should she tell the villagers of the message the devil shared with her? Should she help Berta?
