Non Fiscal Barriers And The Free Movement Of The European...
This question concerns non fiscal barriers to the free movement of goods in the European Union.
Issues concerning Articles 34,35 or 36 of the Treaty on the Functioning of the European Union
(TFEU) are raised and Brian s potential claim is against France as the Member State who has
enacted measures which may restrict imports and exports, thereby violating the Treaty. Firstly,
considering the licence required by French legislation to importPS s, this could amount to a selling
arrangement which is defined in the case of Keck as rules that concern who sells the product
and when, where and how they go about it. Those selling arrangements which apply equally in
law and fact will not invoke Article 34 TFEU. As the product, the PS, in not directly affected, the
requirement of a licence may be a selling arrangement . However the selling arrangement does
not apply equally in law and fact because there is no licence requirement mentioned for domestic
producers of PSs . As the licence discriminates against imports, this may invoke Article 34 and it
is likely to be a measure equivalent to a quantitative restriction (MEQR). MEQRs were defined in
Dessonville as All trading rules capable of hindering, directly or indirectly, actually or potentially,
intra Community trade . In other words, an MEQR applies only to imports and not to everyone. As
the licence is an additional requirement for imported PSs, and applications are only considered
once a year in August, it makes imports more

Beast In The Southern Wild
The universe depends on everything fitting just right. (Hushpuppy from Beasts in the Southern
WIld). This quote represents the theme and connection of the film, Beasts in the Southern Wild,
with the novel, Their Eyes Were Watching God. In both, the protagonist go through tough
experiences and have a strong connection with nature. The movie, Beasts in the Southern Wild,
released in 2012 directed by Benh Zeitlin is about a young girl named Hushpuppy who lives in a
peculiar isolated area which they call the Bathtub. Hushpuppy lives with her crazy, sick father
which is her only parent figure in the film, and with a community full of brave and wild people. In
the film, Hushpuppy and her community face a storm which ends up exposing... Show more content

Hushpuppy lives all around nature, her and her father have chickens, a dog, and pigs.
Hushpuppy repeatedly holds any creature she gets her hands on up to her ear and listens to its
heartbeat, she claims that all animals and the universe along with the people, are connected. She
is also a daydreamer of animals, constantly having images of aurochs in her mind that
demonstrate some type of disaster or absence for example the large ice breaking and the aurochs
floating away in ice cubes. In addition to all of this, she lives off of the chickens they raise, cat
food, and the crabs that come from the sea that s next to them. Furthermore, Hushpuppy has a
teacher who lectures them on some sort of medicinal herb treatments which she then uses when
she first believes her father is dead. When Hushpuppy first thinks her father died, she believes
that her father has turned into a tree or a bug. Janie s relationship with nature also exists. For
example, Janie always seems to be at her happiest and calmest under a peach tree. Before she
gets her first kiss, she had been sitting under a pear tree watching a bee sink into a blossom, upon
watching this she describes it as marriage. It is clear that Janie connects nature with love and
admires it. Additionally, one of the first things Janie and Tea Cake do is go fishing, that night,
they end up eating the fish they catch and soon after, they decide to be together. Which takes us
back to the connection Janie makes about love and nature. Also, Janie joins the crop picking in
the Everglades as well. She does it for love because Tea Cake had mentioned to her that he
missed her when he was out at work, and that it d be better if she was there working along with
him. It is clear that her motive was the love she had towards Tea Cake because she didn t hesitate
to work with him because she knew it would make him happy. Both Janie and Hushpuppy admire

Golden Gate Bridge Monuments
Have you ever been to Mt. Rushmore? Or the Gateway Arch? What about the Golden Gate
Bridge? There s one thing these all have in common: they re all monuments that had a lot of
planning go into them. Monuments are built in order for people to remember and honor the past.
Whether it be people or events, there are many factors a group must consider when creating a
monument. Monuments are a physical form of a history book; they help re create and remember
past events and people. When memorializing an event of person, a group of people should consider
cost, design, and text factors when creating a monument.
The cost to build a monument is a huge factor in creating a memorial. The group would have to
create a monument that fits their budget, or ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Words can be tricky when they are being placed on a monument. One has to make sure the
quotes are correct. One has to make sure the quotes are perceived how they should be. One has
to make sure names and other words are correctly spelled. Is the monument even going to have
any words on it? All of these contribute to what one must consider when adding words to a
monument. Any sort of word would bring back memories of the event. As stated by Lin, words
can be used to capture a specific moment in time or a single event or a generalized image to
resurrect memories of those lost in a tragic event. This is the goal of any monument at it s purest;
to remember an event as it happened. Words can also depict important saying of the past, as it does
the Gettysburg Address on the Lincoln Memorial (Savage). This is cause for importance because it
prevents those words from being lost or twisted in the pages of history books. Words are of vast
importance when building a monument, as they protect the quotes and people of the past from
being nothing.
Cost, design, and words are only a few factors that should be considered when building a
monument. As proved by prior facts, these by far are the most important as they dictate what people
see and read. Without monuments, the public would have difficulties remembering and honoring
past events and people. Not only that, but it ensures people remember and

Styles Of Parenting Styles
Basically all the traits that would would be expected a child to have based on each caregivers
parenting style if very different. Every child is different a way of parenting style may or may not
affect you in the future. For, example Ben Carson raised by single parent with little to no money.
Ben Carson grew with a mind for violence such as almost killing some loved ones of his.
However, today Ben Carson is a retired neurosurgeon. This just show that not every child living in
poverty and being influenced by violence is most likely to not succeed and continue that path as a
child. Children that grew up with parents with an Authoritarian style of parentingoften had poor
social skills, lower self esteem, and basically always concerned of their actions because they are
afraid of the consequences. Children with Permissive parents know that they will always have it
there way. Children that grew up in this way of parenting tend to me immature, and often escape
responsibilities. Children with Authoritative parents tend be better off than the other children who s
parents style of parenting was either authoritarian or permissive. These children turn out to be the
happiest, most successful and basically a more cooperative friendly child. B) I do not believe these
traits apply to me. Even though I was raised by an authoritarian mother and... Show more content on

have turned out to be a different person if I never met amazing people along the way. I know one
thing for sure is that none of my parents really participated in my or any of my sisters education.
Other than my mom telling us to do our homework everyday. I don t even remember a time when
my parents went to parent conferences nor a football or soccer game besides my last football game.
And I understood, they had their reasons. I think my sisters did get impacted by this because none
of them continued any type of schooling after high

troubled nation of El Salvador. In the early stages of his life, Romero had entered a boarding
school for priests at the age of thirteen. Then he went to the national boarding school in San
Salvador. He finished his studies at the Gregorian University in Rome, and was appointed a priestin

In 1989, director John Duigan created a spectacular film, which was called Romero. This film
was created to depict Г“scar Romero s organizing peaceful protests against a violent military
regime, as well as his death. Г“scar Romero used his voice of power in the Church and in the
country to speak up for the poor. When important political figures in the country told him to be
quiet and to stop speaking out against these injustices, he refused, often putting his own body in
between his people and their perpetrators. His defense of the Salvadoran people was very
effective in protecting them from the senseless violence and oppression by the Salvadoran
government. He was truly a hero. He advocated human rights without the use of violence or
harm to others, he used his voice to bring justice to the citizens of El Salvador. He should be
remembered as a strong willed advocate. Г“scar Romero did not give up, As a Christian, he
remarked on one such occasion, I do not believe in death without resurrection. If they kill me, I
shall rise again in the Salvadoran people (UN). Oscar Romero had a tremendous impact in El
Salvador, in the rest of Latin America, and in the rest of the world. His passion for justice fueled
a revolution in El Salvador that protected and gave a voice to the oppressed of El Salvador. Latin
Americans throughout the rest of Central and South America hail Romero as a leader, a saint, and

Inside Out By Pete Docter
INSIDE OUT DIRECTED BY PETE DOCTER Inside out is a disney cartoon film directed by
Pete Docter. It follows the story of a preteen girl named Riley and her emotions that are
represented as characters in the film, with an angle of meeting the little voices inside your head .
Representing the five major emotions are the characters Joy, Sadness, Anger, Disgust and Fear,
who take us on a journey through the brightly coloured, amazing, exhilarating wonderland of
Riley s mind, conquering many troubles along the way. I thoroughly enjoyed this film and found
that although aimed at a younger audience I think it touches on very relevant topics that are
essential for life, such as individuality and acceptance of others, that are both resourceful and
important for everyone of all ages to know and learn about making it an appealing and enjoyable
film for all. The concept of acceptance of others was definitely present throughout the entire film,
however the full effect and realisation of this concept didn t come into play till towards the end of
movie when I felt personally, a realisation sensation stuck. In the beginning of the film we are
introduced to the characters who represent Riley s emotions. Although each are responsible for
certain areas of Riley in particular, it is strongly apparent that the emotion Joy is the ringleader
within the group, and takes pride in being so. Joy however is a character that contradicts another
one of the emotions Sadness, as you would expect.

Analysis of the Movie Harold and Maude- A Cult Classic Essay
Harold and Maude is a cult classic from the 1970 s that defined film making today. The movie
based around a young man named Harold Chasen, and an old woman Maude. Harold seems to
have a bizarre psychological fascination with death. While Maude is also interested in death; she
enjoys living as well and has lived her life to the fullest. Both are brought together while attending
funerals simply because they enjoy them. Maude begins to influence and change Harold s
perceptions and attitudes about life. Harold and Maudeare polar opposite, in age, but the time they
spend together will help Harold live his life better and more fulfillingly.
Before Harold meets Maude, he is a disturbed individual with no friends. Harold, who performs ...

LIVE! Maude shares many of these ideas and beliefs with Harold, teaching him to dance, play the
banjo, and just enjoy being alive, not dead.
Harold was unaware that when he met Maude, she had planed all along to end her life at the age
of eighty. She says several times throughout the movie, Did you know I ll be eighty on Saturday
. Her decision to commit suicide shows that Maude feels she has done her part in helping Harold
be a happier person and has succeeded in teaching him how to love and enjoy life, which are
qualities he did not possess prior to their meeting. She makes him understand this when, after he
tells her he loves her, she says, Go and love some more. After Maude s death, Harold drives his car
over a cliff in another attempt to make people believe he is dead again. Harold walks away
playing his banjo and dancing, things that Maude had taught him. By driving his car over the
cliff to make people think he is dead again makes Harold happy since he enjoys being dead, but
the banjo and Harold s dancing are symbols of the effects of his relationship with Maude. These
signify that Harold has grown due to his relationship with Maude and will use the advice that
Maude has given him in order to live a more fulfilling and enjoyable life.
Because this film is so influenced by it s time, it seems appropriate that the director used the music
of Cat Stevens. Cat Stevens music defined a generation, and Harold and Maude are no exception.

The Effectiveness Of Traditional Lecture And Scenario...
Background: The effect of innovations within the healthcare industry causes many scientific and
technical changes in healthcare delivery. To cope with these changes, there is necessitate to prepare
and train healthcare workers to improve employees knowledge and the quality of care. Limited
clinical experience with a new mode of mechanical ventilation, such as Airway Pressure Released
Ventilation mode, make its implementation difficult in the real critical world. Adequate staff
training time is essential to improve employees knowledge and skills. Objective: To evaluate the
effectiveness of traditional lecture and scenario based learningfor training respiratory therapists and
critical care residents at Rush University Medical Center for the use of Airway Pressure Release
Ventilation (APRV). Methods: This is one group pretest and posttest intervention study, a quasi
experimental research design. The study is introducing an educational intervention to train the use
of APRV. The educational strategy involves traditional lecture and scenario based learning.
Different scenarios will be created based on APRV application. The population will include
respiratory therapists, critical care residents, fellows and attending physicians at Rush University

Inventions Of The Ferris Wheel
What happened to Chester Greenwood, George Washington Gale Ferris, and Lonnie Johnson when
they had a meeting together? Chester Greenwood invented earmuffs. Earmuffs were used to keep
people s ears warm, and the invention also inspired people to create Chester Greenwood Day.
George Washington Gale Ferris invented the Ferris Wheel. The wheel was described as a Historic
event and an experience never to be forgotten . Lonnie Johnson invented the Super Soaker. Super
Soakers were enjoyed by many people, and around 200 million Super Soakers were sold since they
came on the market. These inventors had their different ways when they dealt with problems,
victories, and how they felt when their ideas worked and were accepted, so it was interesting for

Summary Of The Story Of An Hour
STORY A brief moment silent narrates a momentary of time or occasion, an exploration of nature
is what Mrs. Mallard took after the demise of his husband. She utilized this time well thinking of
how peaceful and free she had turned. This is ironic, commonly she was expected to wail and
mourn in bitterness, but she took her time sit in an armchair watching the sky and started thinking
how her life had changed although sobbing. She loved her husbandbut know she viewed it in a
different manner. However, finally the reality came out her heart beat faster while terror left her
eyes despite initial thought that she was now free
Freedom
After the death of Brently Mallard, her wife developed conflicting emotions she wasn t sure of
how to react. She had to mourn her husband since she loved him on the other hand, she has
earned some freedom. She had a fleeting nature of emotions. However she also viewed it in a
different way, and she saw many ears of freedom coming and was ready to embrace them. In fact,
she began to plan how free she will be without anybody s burden. Despite that she loved her

Marginaliization In John Steinbeck s Of Mice And Men
Marginalization of People of color John Steinbeck, the author of Of Mice and Men, uses ideas of
marginalization to show the readers of his novel the effects marginalization has on our society.
The main character that Steinbeck uses to illustrate this idea is Crooks. Crooks is the poorly
treated stable buck. He is mistreated because he is black unlike the ranchers who are white. He is
segregated and forced to sleep in the stable with the horses because of something that is out of his
control. Something that also makes him who he is as a person. When George and Lennie first
arrived at the ranch, they were conversing with the other men. The other men were telling George
and Lennie about the mistreatment that the boss gave Crooks. I guess... Show more content on

Included in Patton s journal, was a case in which African American Women have lost their jobs
due to their race or have been prohibited from portraying themselves in the ways they wish in
order to cover up some of their race as if being of color is something to shy away from. Failure to
work toward the Euro American beauty ideal can result in such consequences as the loss of a
job. For example, some African American women have lost their jobs due to their hairstyle
preference, which was deemed too ethnic. The 1981 case of Rogers v. American Airlines,
upheld the right of employers to prohibit the wearing of braided hairstyles in the workplace
(Caldwell 2000, 276) (Patton). Racial marginalization has been ever present for years after years
after years. We have tried to fix it a couple of times but every time white supremacy remains. One
way that we as a nation tried to rid the world of racial discrimination was by the black is
beautiful movement. What this social movement did with slogans such as Black is Beautiful
was work to intervene in and alter those racist stereotypes that had always insisted black was
ugly, monstrous, undesirable (1995, 120) (Patton). Our efforts as a nation to end the
marginalization of race amongst both men and women have fallen apart every time, but now as
Steinbeck and Patton have both illustrated it is time to make a change that will last for good.
Bob Marley once said, If you re white and you re wrong, you re wrong; if you re black and you re
black, you re wrong. People are people. Black, blue, pink, green God made no rules about color;
only society makes rules where my people must suffer, and that is why we must have redemption

Rise Of The Counterculture
During the sixties, American people saw the rise of the counterculture. Counterculture was a group
of movements focused on achieving personal and cultural liberation, mainly embraced by the
decade s young adults. Because many Americans were members of the different movements in the
counterculture, the counterculture influenced American society as a whole. As a result of the
achievements the counterculture movements had made, the United Statesin the 1960sbecame a
more open, more tolerant, and a more freer country. In 1969, close to half a million self
described hippies, peace makers, and Aquarians made an expedition from mainly San Francisco to
Woodstock in upstate New York. The Woodstock Music and Arts Festival was called an Aquarian
Exposition and hailed as three days of peace and music, over 400,000 people attended; it was
peaceful. However, life outside of the woodstock festivalwas not. America seemed to be dividing
as a country. The war in Vietnam went on for roughly another 15 years. American boys were still
being sent to Southeast Asia by the newly elected President, Nixon. The increasingly unpopular
war intensified a campus protest movement. Burning draft cards and peace marches became daily
fare on the evening news. And not all of the demonstrations were peaceful. The summer after
Martin Luther King was assassinated, riots broke out in 125 cities including, Chicago, Baltimore,
NYC, Kansas City, and Cincinnati. Meanwhile, at the Democratic convention in Chicago, the anti
war movement tore the Democratic Party in two. Both critics and fans agree that Woodstock has
become part of the mythology of the 1960s, even if the actual event didn t necessarily represent
the musical or political taste of most of the young Americans adults at this time. Some say it
symbolized the freedom and idealism of the 1960s. Some argue that Woodstock represented much
of everything that was wrong with the sixties: a glorification of drugs, a loosening of sexual
morality and a socially corrosive disrespect for authority.
The 60s was full of major movements. One of the most powerful counterculture movements was the
civil rights movement. In 1964, Congress passed the Civil Rights Act to end racial discrimination in
employment

Summary Of Stand Up That Mountain
Stand Up That Mountain is a memoir in which dollar value and values clash often. Money seems
to prevent characters from accomplishing what is truly important to them, especially Jay, whose
main goal is to save Belview Mountain from being destroyed by Clark Stone Company. Jay does
not have much money to begin with, as he retired when he was 28 and moved to the mountains
as soon as he had enough money to survive on (Leutze, 2013: 84). He sacrificed warm showers
and professional haircuts to save money. In order to save Belview Mountain from being mined by
Clark Stone Company, he impulsively stated he would pay for the lawyers handling the case.
However, he is reminded of his austerity budget when Ginna reminds him that lawyers are very

After the saliva sample was taken the males were asked to interact with either a gun, or a children

Piaget and Vygotsky
Introduction
Cognitive development is interpreted as the gradual orderly development of thinking, understanding
and reasoning processes from birth to maturity. The aim of primary school is to build the
knowledge and the skills children need to have for further cognitive development. Therefore, the
constant development of coginition is very important to young children, because it gives them the
basic understanding towards themselves and the world. As a result, in order to assist and support
children s early cognitive development, teachers apply the ideas of educational theorists such as
Jean Piaget and Lev Vygotsky in teaching.

Furthermore, in mathematical center, it involved large numbers, it equipped children with

skills have developed, especially for Down s syndrome child Hilly, her fine motor skills has
developed through finger painting. For children who are into game making by using blocks, their
thinking process become more organized and strategic.
In conclusion, most of children are in preoperational stage, but heading to concrete operational
stage, they gradual gain more logical thinking skills and reversibility through game making,
discovering and problem solving. Nevertheless, Troy and Tim are likely functioning in concrete
operational stage. Troy and Tim both have more logical and organized thinking process than others,
since Troy can solve math problems and Tim made a skateboard from the heater. A singing center
would be more helpful towards children s literacy and pragmatics skills through sing nursery
rhymes.
Discussion
In order to help children s cognitive development, the application of Piaget and Vygotsky theories
are highly positive and critical. As Woolfolk and Margetts (2010) mentioned, teachers can extend
children s knowlegde by using children s disequilibration as the motivation. The use of cultural tools
in classroom can also benefit children, because they

Temper Vs Birth Order Essay
I was the second/last child born in my family. I feel that birth order has had a true effect on my
behavior and my personality. It s very easy to compare me with my brother. My brother is the
oldest. He strives to achieve his goal and , as of right now, he s doing a pretty well job with
striving. Comparing him with me, I am more of a social person. I like to hangout with my
friends and be social. I am also more humorous than many people may think. He is more of a
serious person. Also, he sometimes worries about me, only because he wants me to make sure I
achieve my goals just as he is trying to achieve his. Achieving goals isn t just something my
brother does just because he is first born. An Iranian culture is very goal oriented. My dad
always told me that if I want to pursue a career as a lawyer or a doctor, I must do what I can to
get to that goal. Since then, I have been interning at the Milton City Court and Milton Police
Department to help me get to my goal to be a lawyer. Nature vs. Nurture has played a huge part in

Fahrenheit 451 Section Title Analysis Essay
The Hearth and the Salamander is the title of the first section of Fahrenheit 451. The meaning of
The Hearth and the Salamander can be symbolic and straight forward. The word hearth is a brick
/stone fireplace, often with an oven, used for heating and originally also used for cooking food.
Since the hearth is usually a home s central and most important feature, which the concept has
been generalized to refer to the household, as hearth and home and keep the home fires burning .
The salamander is one of the official symbols of the firemen in the book, as well as what they call

Later in the book, Montag was on the train trying to memorize the bible in fear that he could

would stay in his mind. An advertisement was making him loose concentration and therefore the
information was slipping through his mind. It reminded him of the Sieve and the Sand incident
from earlier in his life that was so upsetting to him. The modern world in the novel counts on this
inability to concentrate. This life without books has encouraged people to live for moment so to

Montag feel as if banning books has made people s minds turn into sieves unable to hold thought.
Burning Bright has a title that to me symbolizes how the story ends because of why it began. That
being fire. However the fire I m talking about is not just combustion. Earlier in the story Clarisse
asked Guy questions that burned in his mind eventually making him question his occupation and
his lifestyle. Of course there was plenty of combustion in the story with the burning of books, the
dropping of bombs and the firing of Beatty. Not only did this fire have a negative impact in the
beginning but eventually Montag realized that setting his house on fire was satisfying. It became

Housing Policies And Its Effect On An Individual s...
Introduction and Research Question
Living in inadequate housing can have a damaging impact on an individual s physical and mental
health. Poor housing conditions can arise from over crowding, lack of insulation and ventilation,
faulty heating systems, indoor air pollutants, and environmental hazards. Beyond the structural and
environmental inadequacies of a housing unit, social policy and social institutions can also
contribute to such harms. Undoubtedly, if minimum housing quality standards are not guaranteed,
there will be a damaging impact on the resident s quality of life and ultimately, their physical
health. This paper will discuss housing policy and design and its correlation to respiratory diseases
in the city of Hong Kong, proposing an intervention for tuberculosis treatment.
Hong Kong stands as one of the most densely packed areas in the world. Due to limited land,
building has shifted vertically and housing prices continue to soar. As a result of this perennial
shortage, the Chinese government developed mass subsidized housing programs in the form of sub
divided flats, tiny cubicle apartments, and densely packed housing villages. Nearly 46% of the
Hong Kong population live in public housing (SoCo, 2011). In planning and designing these public
spaces, the Chinese Government unfortunately does not consider health standards a main priority
(SoCo, 2011). The reason for this may be time constraints, namely the sheer scale of the operation
and the short time within

Wonder Sociological Concepts
Wonder One of my favorite movies is Wonder by R.J. Palacio. Wonder is based off of the
inspiration to never judge anyone by their appearance, to stand up for yourself and to not give

deformity, who experiences the first time going to a public school. The first important value in
Wonder is to never judge anyone by their appearance. Auggie s schedule in the past 10 years,

Bullying often leaves kids feeling helpless, vulnerable, and confused. Consequently, when kids
are bullies they are often shocked by bullying that they are not sure what to do (Gordon, n.d.).
Society, unfortunately, has become more focused on the bullies rather than the victims. Judging
someone by their looks is NOT okay. How can you judge someone when you do not even know
the person? It is from my personal experience, that people are nicer to the rich or middle class
whereas others frown upon poor people. Many people make the generalization that poor people
take advantage of the state benefits that are offered, which is not true. Beauty is not in the face;
beauty is a light in the heart. There is not a single profile of a young person involved in bullying.
Youth who bully can be either will connected socially and may be bullied by others as well.
Similarly, those who are bullied sometimes bully others. Solutions to bullying are not simple.
Bullying Prevention approaches that show the most promise confront the problem from many
angles (Government, n.d.). Take the time to get to know someone before you judge or bully
them. Every single person is subject to life, not suicide. Each of us are special in our own ways to

Diet to High Risk Patients For the Prevention or Treatment of Non Communicable or Chronic
Diseases?
David Arthur, MS, PA S
The term non communicable disease refers to set of chronic, slowly progressing, long duration
illnesses that are not infectious and are responsible for more deaths globally than any other
cause.1 In 2011, in most high and middle income countries, non communicable diseases were
responsible for more deaths than all other causes combined.1 These same chronic diseases are also
referred to as lifestyle diseases by some practitioners, as they are recognized as having lifestyle
choice as primary risk factors, and possibly, treatment modalities centered around lifestyle
modification.2 The four primary non communicable diseases, as identified by the World Health
Organization, are cardiovascular disease, malignant neoplasm, respiratory disease, and diabetes
mellitus.3 The power of lifestyle choices to effectively address some of the most vexing chronic
diseases of our time is well established.4 Adherence to four healthy lifestyle tenets not smoking, not
being obese, getting at least thirty minutes of moderate activity per day, and eating a diet
consisting primarily of vegetables, fruit, and whole grains, may have the net effect of addressing
the primary sources of disease and death in western society.4 Strictly adhering to each of these
healthy lifestyle choices

groups had some regeneration and one group had a mass death. My planaria was in the majority

Corporate America and the Corruption within the Hip Hop Culture
Being one of the more controversial lifestyles, the hip hop culture has overcome many obstacles in
the years to gain the respect it currently holds today. Indeed, there is still much controversy that
lingers around the people within the movement, but when untainted by outside influences and
corporate vultures, hip hop in its purest form is about empowerment, unity, culture, creativity, and
hope (Elkouby). The negative notions that regard the hip hop culture can be attributed to corporate
America and its failure to properly monitor radio play, its lack of trust within the record labels, and
its greedy head honchos that build up artists only to see them fall in order to pocket the money for
themselves.
A crucial element in the success of many artists is the amount of radio play they receive.
Obtaining playtime has never been easy, and just like many other things that are difficult to obtain,
a black market has developed in order for artists to receive radio play. Payola, in the music industry,
is the illegal practice of payment or other inducement by record companies for the broadcast of
recordings on commercial radio in which the song is presented as being part of the normal day s
broadcast and not the day s sponsored broadcast ( Payola ). Artists benefit from their songs being
played on the radio because their songs can be heard by millions of others, which will in turn build
their fan base.

Supply and Demand Advertising Industry
Supply Demand
In recent years, internet advertising has taken the advertising industry by storm, as it continues to
experience huge, incremental growth. Companies are moving away from the dark ages of print ads
and radio spots and entering the digital age of online advertising. In the United States, internet
advertising revenues soared to $10.7 billion in the third quarter of 2013, representing a 15%
increase over the $9.3 billion in the third quarter of 2012(IAB, 2013). The graph below was

CPM prices can vary greatly depending on the popularity of the website.(Online Advertising Pricing
Models, 2000). In a cost per click model (CPC), the advertiser pays for only the number of people
who click on the ad. Google AdWords, for example, allows advertisers to bid for keywords against
one another in fast online auctions. Some advertisers are willing to bid as much as $50 for a
single click on a popular keyword, such as mesothelioma (Gleick, 2011).
Demand As consumers spend more of their time online, the demand for internet advertising
continues to rise. Traditional advertising methods such as television, radio, newspapers,
magazines, billboards, and directories are being abandoned by companies who desire to shift their
marketing strategies to the web. Advertisers are taking advantage of the benefits of online
advertising, including its low cost and ability to reach a large number of consumers. The internet
makes it possible and cost effective to operate markets with millions of participants and millions of
products. Every day, eBay has two hundred million product listings, Google runs three billion
searches, and two hundred million users log into Facebook (Levin, 2010). The internet s vast reach
can allow advertisers to reach significantly more people than traditional advertising at a fraction of
the cost. In addition, online advertising is seeing increased demand from advertisers due to its

Mission Statement On Community And Community Service In...
I hope you are doing well. As one of the members of the youth, I would like to address a concern
of mine involving the youth group. Our church s mission statement is experience, equip, and
severe. As a whole, I feel that the youth group is lacking in the area of service. Not only is
community service important to our church, I also believe it is crucial to have our youth involved
in communityoutreach to promote emotional and spiritual growth. I believe our youth should
participate in more community outreach because it will counter selfish tendencies, allow the youth
to feel helpful, and promote our church s presence in our community.
Let s face the fact, in general, the youth today are very selfish and narcissistic. It s all about having
the coolest clothes, the newest iPhone, or how many likes and retweets they can get. It sometimes
seems as if caring for others has completely disappeared from their thought process. They have very
much embraced the selfie lifestyle. Along with selfishness and narcissism, the youth also seem to
have become somewhat ungrateful. Although some may say that this is how typical teenagers act,
I think over the past few years it has become more and more prevalent. Despite that fact, is it not
our job as a youth group to try to work against the negative stereotypes and better ourselves. To
overcome and rise above the low expectations we typically have. This is why I believe creating and
promoting community outreach opportunities is so important.

plates symbolically as displays of status rather than utensils, and the ceramic sets after the 18th

Woodrow Wilson s Fourteen Points
In the early months of 1918, the dynamics of The Great War ravaging Europe changed
dramatically. On March 3rd, Germany and the Russian Bolsheviks signed the Treaty of Brest
Litovsk, officially ending Russia s involvement in the war and freeing Germany s forces previously
occupied on the Eastern Front . That same month, Germany launched an extensive attack in France
along the Somme River, knocking a devastating blow to the Allies. By the summer of 1918, the
United States had escalated it s involvement in the war, sending over mass amounts of troops and
coordinating with European powers to essentially back the German offensive into a position of little
advancement. As Germany recognized its failing position in the war, the officials in the German
High Command began quietly pursuing negotiations of peace and cease fire, not from their
European counterparts, but from American President Woodrow Wilson
. Germany was hoping to
benefit from President Wilson s ideals of peace and justice for all, ideals he had laid out publicly
that year in a January speech outlining his blueprint for a new democratic world order. These
Fourteen Pointsbecame the cornerstone of Wilson s contribution to the peace negotiations following
the armistice that ended the war in November of 1918. Focusing on the belief that an established
system of democracy, communication and peace would prevent further atrocities like World War I
,
the Fourteen Points centered on equal representation and opportunity

Ghettos were put in to segregate, restrict, and isolate the Jews from the rest of the population.
Unlike Ghettos set up in medieval times, the Nazi Ghettos had walls around them and were

The Warsaw Ghetto was a residential district in Warsaw until it was designated as a Jewish ghetto

and deeply emotional journey. Support groups are an essential part of that journey, whether it is for
caregivers, family members, or those close to someone diagnosed with a dementia causing illness.
Alzheimer s Association support groups are designed to create a safe, confidential and supportive
environment. They are a wonderful opportunity for caregivers to develop informal mutual support
and social relationships. Through emotional, educational and social support, caregivers create
friendships, bonds and memories that make the journey of Alzheimer s disease less difficult and

Cesar Chavez History
The History of Political and Educational Walkouts
Cesar Chavez (otherwise known as C.C) sought to change the world. In fact, he started a
movement now recognized as the Cesar Chaves Chicano Movement. In 1947 he ended
segregation in the movie theater of his small town by sitting in the middle, an area previously
reserved for Caucasians. He was arrested, yet it was not a crime so nothing could be done and
overnight things changed. And yet his mission was not done. In fact, according to the movie, in the
60 s he was the most significant Mexican American leader of the generation. Yet, surprisingly he
had a rough history. He never advanced past the 8th grade, yet his sights were always on justice and
equality. ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
A hatred of dark skin was bred into America. However Chavez defied that norm. 130,000
Mexicans were attending L.A. schools yet the graduation rate was embarrassingly low. The
Mexicans were not allowed in academic programs or other extracurricular programs which lead to a
strike. Castro, a history teacher, was motivated to change racism. The movement wanted to
accomplish equality. The Spanish language would earn a child a beating at school and many
Mexicans were deemed unintelligent and led into vocational programs rather than educational
pursuits. Not only were the Hispanics discouraged from college, discriminated, and encouraged to
drop out, less than 1 in 1000 obtained a degree. However, what Chavez was able to do for workers
rights movements, Sal Castro began to do for education. He started filling his students with passion
and organized a student strike. The students were captivated to fight for their rights. The Latinos
had had enough and at 10:00am the doors opened and the students rushed out, quickly drawing
national attention by marching. I can only imagine the spectacle: over 1,000 students began their
protest, thus causing race riots. However, the fearful police entered and attempted to control the
crowed. After a week of protests, the demands were met: more Hispanic and Latino teachers,
bilingual instructors, and equal learning opportunities. The Chicanos, as

Television s Impact On Television
One part of television that has always been a constant in a lot of programs is family. More
particular, the family sitcom and family dramas have been around for years and are still around
today. Family television shows are great programs for everyone due to the fact of being very
family oriented. However, the way families were portrayed when television first started out has
changed drastically with how some families are portrayed now. The evolution of the way
families are viewed on screen and off screen can be portrayed throughout the years on television.
One television show that aired from 1951 1957 was the series I Love Luc. This series was about a
husband and a wife and their lives together. They were a typical familyin the 50s. Lucy stayed at
home being a housewife at first while Ricky would go out to work (Smith). The series even
showed them sleeping in separate beds at that time because we as the audience weren t allowed to
see a couple sleep in the same bed. Later in the series, Lucy became pregnant which wasn t a very
common thing to show on television, especially at that time (Garrison).
Typical families shown on television in the 1950s were a mother, father, and their children. One
show that started to break the mold was My Three Sons which premiered in 1960 and aired until
1972. My Three Sons was about a widowed father raising his three sons on his own with the help
of the kids grandfather (Taflinger). In a matter of only ten years the family sitcom had

The, Indian Man And Woman Eating By Theodore De Bry
When the first time John White sailed to the North America in 1585, native americans would
never be strange to Europeans. As an artist, during his time at Roanoke Island, White drew a
number of vivid watercolors of the scenery, culture and the native people, which were published as
A Briefe and True Report of the New Found Land of Virginia. To Europeans, these works were the
most informative illustrations of North America. After these works published, an engraver, named
by Theodore De Bry, made a series of engravings directly from John White s paintings. However,
the engravings were unable to be an accurate depiction of North America. If viewers watch them
roughly, they are very similar, but there are some slight but crucial differences in detailed. The
image Indian Man and Woman Eating by John White depicts a man and a woman are seated
facing each other on a stipe of matting. There is a container with a bunch of circular fruits
between their feet. It seems that each of them is covered by a clothing made by turkey feather in
a certain style at that time. Their faces are flat with peace, but also there are some tattoos on their
faces. The man s ears are pierced by a shell ornament and the woman tied with a bead knot. Behind
them, there are standing a few plants. In the engraving Their sitting at meate created by De Bry,
there are some changes appear: their facial structure alters, which looks more like Europeans; the
muscle and right curve on their bodies are

Research Paper On Becoming A Dentist
Becoming a Dentist
Faith Taylor
November 6, 2018
Dr. Williams
Dentistry is one of the oldest medical professions. It started back in 7000 BC with the Indus Valley
Civilization. In Greece, the Aristotle and Hippocrates wrote about treating decayed teeth and
extracted the teeth to keep the pain away. They used forceps to perform the procedure. By the
1700s dentistry has become more known as a profession. A French surgeon name Pierre Fauchard
came up with the idea of tooth filling and the use of prostheses (to restore missing parts of teeth
and the structures of the jaw and palate.) He also found that the acids from sugar leads to tooth
decay. Later, Baltimore College of Dental was founded as the first dental college in 1840. Twenty
years later, the American Dental Association was created. In 1869, the first African American to
earn a dental degree and the first female dental assistance was in 1885. Americans didn t start
frequently brushing their teeth until after World War II. The soldiers who went overseas came back
and brought the knowledge of dental hygiene back to the United States. Colgate produced the first
tube of toothpaste in 1873. 12 years later Hiram Nicholas Wadsworth created the first tooth brush in
America. In 1939, the electric tooth brush was created in Switzerland.
Getting your teeth checked is one of the most important things to do in life. No one wants to walk
around with horrible teeth and a smelly breath. Dentist plays an important

  • 2. Non Fiscal Barriers And The Free Movement Of The European... This question concerns non fiscal barriers to the free movement of goods in the European Union. Issues concerning Articles 34,35 or 36 of the Treaty on the Functioning of the European Union (TFEU) are raised and Brian s potential claim is against France as the Member State who has enacted measures which may restrict imports and exports, thereby violating the Treaty. Firstly, considering the licence required by French legislation to importPS s, this could amount to a selling arrangement which is defined in the case of Keck as rules that concern who sells the product and when, where and how they go about it. Those selling arrangements which apply equally in law and fact will not invoke Article 34 TFEU. As the product, the PS, in not directly affected, the requirement of a licence may be a selling arrangement . However the selling arrangement does not apply equally in law and fact because there is no licence requirement mentioned for domestic producers of PSs . As the licence discriminates against imports, this may invoke Article 34 and it is likely to be a measure equivalent to a quantitative restriction (MEQR). MEQRs were defined in Dessonville as All trading rules capable of hindering, directly or indirectly, actually or potentially, intra Community trade . In other words, an MEQR applies only to imports and not to everyone. As the licence is an additional requirement for imported PSs, and applications are only considered once a year in August, it makes imports more ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

This quote represents the theme and connection of the film, Beasts in the Southern Wild, with the novel, Their Eyes Were Watching God. In both, the protagonist go through tough experiences and have a strong connection with nature. The movie, Beasts in the Southern Wild, released in 2012 directed by Benh Zeitlin is about a young girl named Hushpuppy who lives in a peculiar isolated area which they call the Bathtub. Hushpuppy lives all around nature, her and her father have chickens, a dog, and pigs. Hushpuppy repeatedly holds any creature she gets her hands on up to her ear and listens to its heartbeat, she claims that all animals and the universe along with the people, are connected. She is also a daydreamer of animals, constantly having images of aurochs in her mind that demonstrate some type of disaster or absence for example the large ice breaking and the aurochs floating away in ice cubes. In addition to all of this, she lives off of the chickens they raise, cat food, and the crabs that come from the sea that s next to them. Furthermore, Hushpuppy has a teacher who lectures them on some sort of medicinal herb treatments which she then uses when she first believes her father is dead. When Hushpuppy first thinks her father died, she believes that her father has turned into a tree or a bug. Janie s relationship with nature also exists. For example, Janie always seems to be at her happiest and calmest under a peach tree. Before she gets her first kiss, she had been sitting under a pear tree watching a bee sink into a blossom, upon watching this she describes it as marriage. It is clear that Janie connects nature with love and admires it. Additionally, one of the first things Janie and Tea Cake do is go fishing, that night, they end up eating the fish they catch and soon after, they decide to be together. Which takes us back to the connection Janie makes about love and nature. Also, Janie joins the crop picking in the Everglades as well. She does it for love because Tea Cake had mentioned to her that he missed her when he was out at work, and that it d be better if she was there working along with him. It is clear that her motive was the love she had towards Tea Cake because she didn t hesitate to work with him because she knew it would make him happy. Both Janie and Hushpuppy admire ... There s one thing these all have in common: they re all monuments that had a lot of planning go into them. Monuments are built in order for people to remember and honor the past. Whether it be people or events, there are many factors a group must consider when creating a monument. Monuments are a physical form of a history book; they help re create and remember past events and people. When memorializing an event of person, a group of people should consider cost, design, and text factors when creating a monument. The cost to build a monument is a huge factor in creating a memorial. The group would have to create a monument that fits their budget, or ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... Words can be tricky when they are being placed on a monument. One has to make sure the quotes are correct. One has to make sure the quotes are perceived how they should be. One has to make sure names and other words are correctly spelled. Is the monument even going to have any words on it? All of these contribute to what one must consider when adding words to a monument. Any sort of word would bring back memories of the event. As stated by Lin, words can be used to capture a specific moment in time or a single event or a generalized image to resurrect memories of those lost in a tragic event. This is the goal of any monument at it s purest; to remember an event as it happened. Words can also depict important saying of the past, as it does the Gettysburg Address on the Lincoln Memorial (Savage). This is cause for importance because it prevents those words from being lost or twisted in the pages of history books. Words are of vast importance when building a monument, as they protect the quotes and people of the past from being nothing. Cost, design, and words are only a few factors that should be considered when building a monument. As proved by prior facts, these by far are the most important as they dictate what people see and read. Without monuments, the public would have difficulties remembering and honoring past events and people. Not only that, but it ensures people remember and ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Every child is different a way of parenting style may or may not affect you in the future. For, example Ben Carson raised by single parent with little to no money. Ben Carson grew with a mind for violence such as almost killing some loved ones of his. However, today Ben Carson is a retired neurosurgeon. This just show that not every child living in poverty and being influenced by violence is most likely to not succeed and continue that path as a child. Children that grew up with parents with an Authoritarian style of parentingoften had poor social skills, lower self esteem, and basically always concerned of their actions because they are afraid of the consequences. Children with Permissive parents know that they will always have it there way. Children that grew up in this way of parenting tend to me immature, and often escape responsibilities. Children with Authoritative parents tend be better off than the other children who s parents style of parenting was either authoritarian or permissive. This film was created to depict Г“scar Romero s organizing peaceful protests against a violent military regime, as well as his death. Г“scar Romero used his voice of power in the Church and in the country to speak up for the poor. When important political figures in the country told him to be quiet and to stop speaking out against these injustices, he refused, often putting his own body in between his people and their perpetrators. His defense of the Salvadoran people was very effective in protecting them from the senseless violence and oppression by the Salvadoran government. He was truly a hero. • 7. Inside Out By Pete Docter INSIDE OUT DIRECTED BY PETE DOCTER Inside out is a disney cartoon film directed by Pete Docter. It follows the story of a preteen girl named Riley and her emotions that are represented as characters in the film, with an angle of meeting the little voices inside your head . Representing the five major emotions are the characters Joy, Sadness, Anger, Disgust and Fear, who take us on a journey through the brightly coloured, amazing, exhilarating wonderland of Riley s mind, conquering many troubles along the way. I thoroughly enjoyed this film and found that although aimed at a younger audience I think it touches on very relevant topics that are essential for life, such as individuality and acceptance of others, that are both resourceful and important for everyone of all ages to know and learn about making it an appealing and enjoyable film for all. The concept of acceptance of others was definitely present throughout the entire film, however the full effect and realisation of this concept didn t come into play till towards the end of movie when I felt personally, a realisation sensation stuck. In the beginning of the film we are introduced to the characters who represent Riley s emotions. Although each are responsible for certain areas of Riley in particular, it is strongly apparent that the emotion Joy is the ringleader within the group, and takes pride in being so. Joy however is a character that contradicts another one of the emotions Sadness, as you would expect. ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

The movie based around a young man named Harold Chasen, and an old woman Maude. Harold seems to have a bizarre psychological fascination with death. While Maude is also interested in death; she enjoys living as well and has lived her life to the fullest. Both are brought together while attending funerals simply because they enjoy them. Maude begins to influence and change Harold s perceptions and attitudes about life. Harold and Maudeare polar opposite, in age, but the time they spend together will help Harold live his life better and more fulfillingly. Maude shares many of these ideas and beliefs with Harold, teaching him to dance, play the banjo, and just enjoy being alive, not dead. Harold was unaware that when he met Maude, she had planed all along to end her life at the age of eighty. She says several times throughout the movie, Did you know I ll be eighty on Saturday . Her decision to commit suicide shows that Maude feels she has done her part in helping Harold be a happier person and has succeeded in teaching him how to love and enjoy life, which are qualities he did not possess prior to their meeting. She makes him understand this when, after he tells her he loves her, she says, Go and love some more. After Maude s death, Harold drives his car over a cliff in another attempt to make people believe he is dead again. Harold walks away playing his banjo and dancing, things that Maude had taught him. By driving his car over the cliff to make people think he is dead again makes Harold happy since he enjoys being dead, but the banjo and Harold s dancing are symbols of the effects of his relationship with Maude. These signify that Harold has grown due to his relationship with Maude and will use the advice that Maude has given him in order to live a more fulfilling and enjoyable life. Because this film is so influenced by it s time, it seems appropriate that the director used the music of Cat Stevens. Cat Stevens music defined a generation, and Harold and Maude are no exception. Marginaliization In John Steinbeck s Of Mice And Men Marginalization of People of color John Steinbeck, the author of Of Mice and Men, uses ideas of marginalization to show the readers of his novel the effects marginalization has on our society. The main character that Steinbeck uses to illustrate this idea is Crooks. Crooks is the poorly treated stable buck. He is mistreated because he is black unlike the ranchers who are white. He is segregated and forced to sleep in the stable with the horses because of something that is out of his control. Something that also makes him who he is as a person. Failure to work toward the Euro American beauty ideal can result in such consequences as the loss of a job. For example, some African American women have lost their jobs due to their hairstyle preference, which was deemed too ethnic. The 1981 case of Rogers v. American Airlines, upheld the right of employers to prohibit the wearing of braided hairstyles in the workplace (Caldwell 2000, 276) (Patton). Racial marginalization has been ever present for years after years after years. We have tried to fix it a couple of times but every time white supremacy remains. One way that we as a nation tried to rid the world of racial discrimination was by the black is beautiful movement. What this social movement did with slogans such as Black is Beautiful was work to intervene in and alter those racist stereotypes that had always insisted black was ugly, monstrous, undesirable (1995, 120) (Patton). Our efforts as a nation to end the marginalization of race amongst both men and women have fallen apart every time, but now as Steinbeck and Patton have both illustrated it is time to make a change that will last for good. Bob Marley once said, If you re white and you re wrong, you re wrong; if you re black and you re black, you re wrong. People are people. • 16. Rise Of The Counterculture During the sixties, American people saw the rise of the counterculture. Counterculture was a group of movements focused on achieving personal and cultural liberation, mainly embraced by the decade s young adults. Because many Americans were members of the different movements in the counterculture, the counterculture influenced American society as a whole. As a result of the achievements the counterculture movements had made, the United Statesin the 1960sbecame a more open, more tolerant, and a more freer country. In 1969, close to half a million self described hippies, peace makers, and Aquarians made an expedition from mainly San Francisco to Woodstock in upstate New York. The Woodstock Music and Arts Festival was called an Aquarian Exposition and hailed as three days of peace and music, over 400,000 people attended; it was peaceful. However, life outside of the woodstock festivalwas not. America seemed to be dividing as a country. The war in Vietnam went on for roughly another 15 years. American boys were still being sent to Southeast Asia by the newly elected President, Nixon. The increasingly unpopular war intensified a campus protest movement. Burning draft cards and peace marches became daily fare on the evening news. And not all of the demonstrations were peaceful. The summer after Martin Luther King was assassinated, riots broke out in 125 cities including, Chicago, Baltimore, NYC, Kansas City, and Cincinnati. Meanwhile, at the Democratic convention in Chicago, the anti war movement tore the Democratic Party in two. Both critics and fans agree that Woodstock has become part of the mythology of the 1960s, even if the actual event didn t necessarily represent the musical or political taste of most of the young Americans adults at this time. Some say it symbolized the freedom and idealism of the 1960s. Some argue that Woodstock represented much of everything that was wrong with the sixties: a glorification of drugs, a loosening of sexual morality and a socially corrosive disrespect for authority. The 60s was full of major movements. One of the most powerful counterculture movements was the civil rights movement. In 1964, Congress passed the Civil Rights Act to end racial discrimination in employment ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 27. Housing Policies And Its Effect On An Individual s... Introduction and Research Question Living in inadequate housing can have a damaging impact on an individual s physical and mental health. Poor housing conditions can arise from over crowding, lack of insulation and ventilation, faulty heating systems, indoor air pollutants, and environmental hazards. Beyond the structural and environmental inadequacies of a housing unit, social policy and social institutions can also contribute to such harms. Undoubtedly, if minimum housing quality standards are not guaranteed, there will be a damaging impact on the resident s quality of life and ultimately, their physical health. This paper will discuss housing policy and design and its correlation to respiratory diseases in the city of Hong Kong, proposing an intervention for tuberculosis treatment. Hong Kong stands as one of the most densely packed areas in the world. Due to limited land, building has shifted vertically and housing prices continue to soar. As a result of this perennial shortage, the Chinese government developed mass subsidized housing programs in the form of sub divided flats, tiny cubicle apartments, and densely packed housing villages. Nearly 46% of the Hong Kong population live in public housing (SoCo, 2011). In planning and designing these public spaces, the Chinese Government unfortunately does not consider health standards a main priority (SoCo, 2011). Society, unfortunately, has become more focused on the bullies rather than the victims. Judging someone by their looks is NOT okay. How can you judge someone when you do not even know the person? It is from my personal experience, that people are nicer to the rich or middle class whereas others frown upon poor people. Many people make the generalization that poor people take advantage of the state benefits that are offered, which is not true. Beauty is not in the face; beauty is a light in the heart. David Arthur, MS, PA S The term non communicable disease refers to set of chronic, slowly progressing, long duration illnesses that are not infectious and are responsible for more deaths globally than any other cause.1 In 2011, in most high and middle income countries, non communicable diseases were responsible for more deaths than all other causes combined.1 These same chronic diseases are also referred to as lifestyle diseases by some practitioners, as they are recognized as having lifestyle choice as primary risk factors, and possibly, treatment modalities centered around lifestyle modification.2 The four primary non communicable diseases, as identified by the World Health Organization, are cardiovascular disease, malignant neoplasm, respiratory disease, and diabetes mellitus.3 The power of lifestyle choices to effectively address some of the most vexing chronic diseases of our time is well established.4 Adherence to four healthy lifestyle tenets not smoking, not being obese, getting at least thirty minutes of moderate activity per day, and eating a diet consisting primarily of vegetables, fruit, and whole grains, may have the net effect of addressing the primary sources of disease and death in western society.4 Strictly adhering to each of these healthy lifestyle choices ... Corporate America and the Corruption within the Hip Hop Culture Being one of the more controversial lifestyles, the hip hop culture has overcome many obstacles in the years to gain the respect it currently holds today. Indeed, there is still much controversy that lingers around the people within the movement, but when untainted by outside influences and corporate vultures, hip hop in its purest form is about empowerment, unity, culture, creativity, and hope (Elkouby). The negative notions that regard the hip hop culture can be attributed to corporate America and its failure to properly monitor radio play, its lack of trust within the record labels, and its greedy head honchos that build up artists only to see them fall in order to pocket the money for themselves. A crucial element in the success of many artists is the amount of radio play they receive. Our church s mission statement is experience, equip, and severe. As a whole, I feel that the youth group is lacking in the area of service. Not only is community service important to our church, I also believe it is crucial to have our youth involved in communityoutreach to promote emotional and spiritual growth. I believe our youth should participate in more community outreach because it will counter selfish tendencies, allow the youth to feel helpful, and promote our church s presence in our community. Let s face the fact, in general, the youth today are very selfish and narcissistic. It s all about having the coolest clothes, the newest iPhone, or how many likes and retweets they can get. It sometimes seems as if caring for others has completely disappeared from their thought process. They have very much embraced the selfie lifestyle. Along with selfishness and narcissism, the youth also seem to have become somewhat ungrateful. Although some may say that this is how typical teenagers act, I think over the past few years it has become more and more prevalent. Despite that fact, is it not our job as a youth group to try to work against the negative stereotypes and better ourselves. To overcome and rise above the low expectations we typically have. With that in mind, I decided to simply focus on the data needed to verify my rather straightforward hypothesis, that the special pieces have less visual contrast than the standard ones in general. There are two attributes, as evident from the hypothesis, that I would need to know for each artifact: its specialty whether the piece has special or standard decoration and its visual contrast. Given the visual nature of both attributes, I decided that the only data I would need to collect are pictures of my artifacts. Next, I needed to decide how I would analyze the photos in order to extract the two attributes, specialty and contrast, so that I can test my hypothesis. That same month, Germany launched an extensive attack in France along the Somme River, knocking a devastating blow to the Allies. By the summer of 1918, the United States had escalated it s involvement in the war, sending over mass amounts of troops and coordinating with European powers to essentially back the German offensive into a position of little advancement. As Germany recognized its failing position in the war, the officials in the German High Command began quietly pursuing negotiations of peace and cease fire, not from their European counterparts, but from American President Woodrow Wilson . Germany was hoping to benefit from President Wilson s ideals of peace and justice for all, ideals he had laid out publicly that year in a January speech outlining his blueprint for a new democratic world order. These Fourteen Pointsbecame the cornerstone of Wilson s contribution to the peace negotiations following the armistice that ended the war in November of 1918. More particular, the family sitcom and family dramas have been around for years and are still around today. Family television shows are great programs for everyone due to the fact of being very family oriented. However, the way families were portrayed when television first started out has changed drastically with how some families are portrayed now. The evolution of the way families are viewed on screen and off screen can be portrayed throughout the years on television. One television show that aired from 1951 1957 was the series I Love Luc. This series was about a husband and a wife and their lives together. They were a typical familyin the 50s. Lucy stayed at home being a housewife at first while Ricky would go out to work (Smith). It started back in 7000 BC with the Indus Valley Civilization. In Greece, the Aristotle and Hippocrates wrote about treating decayed teeth and extracted the teeth to keep the pain away. They used forceps to perform the procedure. By the 1700s dentistry has become more known as a profession. A French surgeon name Pierre Fauchard came up with the idea of tooth filling and the use of prostheses (to restore missing parts of teeth and the structures of the jaw and palate.) He also found that the acids from sugar leads to tooth decay. Later, Baltimore College of Dental was founded as the first dental college in 1840. Twenty years later, the American Dental Association was created. In 1869, the first African American to earn a dental degree and the first female dental assistance was in 1885. Americans didn t start frequently brushing their teeth until after World War II. The soldiers who went overseas came back and brought the knowledge of dental hygiene back to the United States.
