Anthrax And Photosynthesis
Anthrax is the disease caused by Bacillus anthracis, it is a gram positive organism because of its
thick peptidologlycon cell wall which stain crystal violet and they are rod shaped. The initial
infection happens when spores get into the body. The spores can be activated and become Anthrax
bacteria .They can then multiply and spread throughout the body producing toxins and causes
severe illness.
Anthrax can be dated back to early 1250 BC it was thought that during Moses time when God
casted the ten plagues that Anthrax was responsible for the fifth plague that caused illness to the
cattle. It was also said that it was in the Iliad, some think that it might have also caused the fall of
Rome. In the 1700s the first clinical descriptions were ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Then later on he conducted one of his most historic experiments to inject animals with the bacteria
to see how the disease develops. While also conducting this experiment he found out the life
cycle of the bacteria which became Koch s postulates, the relationship between microorganisms
and the diseases caused by it. By the 1800s doctors have seen cases of Anthrax but have not yet
came up with diagnoses of the disease and they haven t found the cause of Anthrax. Wool sorters
disease came about because they saw a link between sheep and the people in animal hair
industries. The mid century researchers have seen rod shaped bodies in blood of infected animals.
The first vaccine was created in 1881 by Louis Pasteur. He experimented with his vaccine by first
giving two shots to twenty five animals of the vaccine then with a weaker form of the bacteria, after
he gave the animals live anthrax. The ones that had the initial vaccination were the ones that
survived, he also gave live Anthrax to animals that haven t had the vaccine those animals did not
survive. Anthrax began to be well documented around the 1900s in the United States, Britain, and

Archaeology and Ethics

There are many similarities in the ethical statements/codes of the SAA, SHA, AIA, and RPA. The
ones that pertain to this case are as follows: it is the responsibility of archaeologists to work for the
long term conservation and protection of the archaeological record (SAA 1, AIA 1, RPA 1.1 e). The
buying and selling of objects out of archaeological context is contributing to the destruction of the
archaeological record around the world, and these items should not be traded, sold, bought, or
bartered as commercial goods (SAA 3, SHA 6, AIA 2, RPA 1.2 e). Within reasonable time, the
knowledge archaeologists gain ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Also they are to be careful to preserve and protect the archaeological site when publishing and
distributing information about their nature and location (SAA6 and SHA3).
Finally, the last ethical dilemma to be discussed is the importance of archaeologists to inform
the proper authorities when illegal trading, or selling, of artifacts is discovered. In the text it
states, The two project directors reply that they will not purchase the pots themselves, nor will
they guarantee that authorities will not be notified. They do, however, loan the men some
gasoline and a video camera for a day, to record the pots and their location. It is questionable that
the two directors would only imply that they could not promise the authorities would not be
notified. It is their duty to do so, according to the statements and ethical codes of many
archaeological organizations. They also give the local employees gasoline and a video camera
for a day leads the reader to believe that they are okay with this sort of behavior and have no
intention of notifying the proper authorities. It also says that because of the video camera, many
of the villagers now know where the cave is, and will likely know what ends up happening to the
pots. Because the villagers now know where the cave is, it is even more important that the
authorities are notified so that similar situations do not arise with villagers scavenging the cave and

Tim Burton Research Paper
What do stop motion animation, creepy movies, and cult classics all have in common? They are
all examples of movies that Tim Burton has excelled in. Stop motion is the most primary form
of movie making being that the first film was Humpty Dumpty in 1898. Creepy is defined as
anything unnerving or causing unease and movies like these are most often considered to be
grouped in the horror category and it takes a certain kind of audience to appreciate this kind of
movies. Then cult classics have made such an impact in our culture today, so many things have
been based on cult classic films, like everyone knows the scene in psycho when Marion, the main
character, was killed in the shower even if he or she has not personally seen the film, that is... Show

Burton is comfortable with the macabre. meaning that he knows how to make grotesque movies
and make them well this is shown in many of his movies like The Corpse Bride and Betelgeuse.
At the time that Burton s first film was released critics deemed it too scary for children, this is
Burton said his intentions were never to make a horror film. which is interesting because most of
the movies he has directed have fallen into the horror genre, which proves that he is just a genius
at being creepy, he does not try to scare people but he somehow still ends up directing horror
films. Burton has actually stated I ve always been misrepresented. You know, I could dress in a
clown costume and laugh with the happy people but they d still say I m a dark personality (Tim
Burton). He knows that people

AN ESSAY CONCERNING YOUR PERSPICUOUSLY RIGHTIOUS OBLIGATION (Your
Autobiography) Dido, in this essay, I wish not only to encourage your writing of the
aforementioned, but also to bestow upon you a unique perspective. Life is something, which we
may never fully understand and that is why we must do our best to make sense of it. One must
learn to listen not only to their thoughts, but conterminally, the thoughts of others. Why? Because
by listening to the thoughts of others, we can build upon our differences in opinion and find truth
in places of necessity. These truths which I speak of can only be known if others are willing to
listen. Alexander, is one of those people who are willing to listen, for you are his grandfather. Since,

The Roman Calendar System During The Roman Republic
Since ancient times, calendars have been a vital part of civilization. Calendars divided time over
extended periods and arranged them in order, making them convenient for regulating daily life,
religious holidays, and for historical and scientific purposes (Calendar). Throughout history, humans
have used signs offered by nature, such as the phases of the Moonor the movement of the Sun, as
the basis for various calendar systems (Calendar). However, when people aimed to improve
previous calendars, they were driven to do so not only by the desire to be astronomically accurate
but also by the politics of the time. Politics affected both the motivation for calendar reform and the
implementation of these new systems.
Authority figures were primarily ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
During the Roman Republic, a group of priests called pontifices held the responsibility of
shortening February and inserting a new month into the year (Wigelsworth). However, these
authorities were not always effective; in times of war, when the group of priests did not meet
regularly, the calendar fell out of line (Aldrete). Roman priests ultimately did not care about the
accuracy of the calendar and were motivated by their own political interests; sometimes, they even
altered the calendar to reduce or extend the terms of certain public officials (Roman Republican
Calendar). Though the objective was at first to have a calendar accurate to natural events, the
people who implemented reform had ulterior motives, hindering the effectiveness of the proposals
they were responsible for. Though it was vital for the Roman government to serve the gods by
celebrating religious festivals at the right time, the government clearly did not always do its duty
(Emmons).

Indeed, cosmetic edits to the calendar honored the power of authorities. In 44 BCE in
Rome, the month Quinctilis was renamed Iulius for Julius Caesar, and the month Sextilis

Why Trust Is A Bond That Brings Humans
Hard to gain; easily lost. Trust is earned, not given. Trust is a bond that brings humans as closely
as love does. Trust could be a feeling, or a cause and effect type of thing. Of course, one cannot
say that trust is infinite. Because trust can be gained and lost, and is seen in the actions of us
humans as we live our lives. Some perceive trustas being put it in things such as, God, science,
doctors, parents, or even water treatment plant operators. Other people look at trust only within in a
relationship perspective, such as, being there for your mate. For example, trusting, supporting and
showing genuine care for one another. Trust would also be demonstrated through consistency in his
/her actions. For example, showing up for dates agreed upon time. Keeping private information
just between the two of you and always respecting boundaries. If you only look at trust from these
ways you limit trust. Trust covers nearly every aspect of our lives and displays who you are as
individuals. Trust should be earned not given, and some of the traits of trust are authenticity,
experience, confidence, honesty, and integrity.
Authenticity is a trait of trust. Being authentically trustworthy requires that you be honest in all
your dealings big and small. For example, a big way of being authentic in all your dealings is let s
say that you re married to your wife/husband and he/she is going to alcohol for relief from stress.
You know going to alcohol isn t beneficial for them, so the

Growing up and seeing many different types of Sikhs within my own family from those that were
more knowledgeable about Punjabi culture and upheld Sikh virtues (through not drinking alcohol,
keeping their hair or kesh) being largely outnumbered by those who were more aligned with
western culture and were more lenient in the sense of following Sikhvirtues, I was torn to either fit
the norm of looking and acting like the majority or being differentiated from my own traditional
immediate family. During this time, in my own immediate family, I was the only member that
did not keep his kesh due to an eczema condition. To specify, my parents never forced Sikhi upon
me nor my brother and this decision of whether to maintain my Sikhi saroop was to extent largely
mine. However, at the time these ideas were masked behind this curtain of being normal . In

The Significant Meaning Of Devices In The Play Fences By...
The play fences by August Wilson The title Fences has a significant meaning between Troy and
the following characters Rose, Corey, and Bono. The play takes place in the 1950s; the Maxon
house is a small two story house with a lesser dirt yard and a partially built fence. In the yard there
is a baseball that hangs from the tree with a bat leaning against it. In the play, Rose is a caring
woman who devoted her life to Troy, her husband. Being ten years younger than Troy, Rose still
found Troy s spirit fine and illuminating (3). She also cares for their son Corey. Thought out the
story Troy proves to not live up to the responsibility and respect that he frequently talks about. He
always preaches about how he does not want to be in a place where he is not treated right, but
does not always treat people right himself. Troy cheats on his wife Rose with a woman named
Alberta. Later, only to find out that Troy is having a baby with Alberta. When Alberta dies
giving birth to their daughter, Raynell, Troy asks Rose to take care of his baby. Rose believes
you can t visit the sins of the father upon the child (36). Meaning she is willing to take care of
Raynell, not for troy but because Raynell is an innocent child with no mother. The fence does not
only represent the physical fence that Rose asked Troy to build. The fence symbolizes how Rose
tries to keep her family together.
Troy s second son Corey is a teenage boy who just wants to do his best for his father. Troy and

The Importance Of Amendments To The Constitution
The main idea common to the Declaration of Independence, the Constitution, and the Bill of
Rights is a government of the people, by the people, and for the people. This idea of a republic was
relatively new in the late eighteenth century, with many of the nations in Europe (which had
control over most of the North American colonies) being governed either by constitutional
monarchies, those being a king or queen bound by a set of basic restrictions, absolute monarchies,
those being a king or queen with absolute power. King George III, to whom the Declaration of
Independence was addressed, would be considered a Constitutional Monarch. The independence of

There are currently twenty seven amendments, but the first ten are the ones most commonly
referred to as the Bill of Rights. Among the liberties granted to the people by these amendments are
the right to free speech, to bear arms, to be free from unreasonable searches and seizures, and
suffrage for oppressed groups such as African Americans and women. Between 1791 and 2016, the
social and political climate has changed significantly, as is evident in historical movements to
amend the Constitution. During the Civil War and Reconstruction eras, the 13th, 14th, and 15th
amendments granting rights to African Americans, specifically an end to slavery, equal treatment
for all citizens under the law, and suffrage for black men, respectively, were passed. The women s
vote was finally granted in 1920 with the nineteenth amendment, after hundreds of years of unfair
representation. These amendments demonstrate that the ideas of our nation are constantly
progressing, and provide a method to adapt the Constitution to reflect those

The Shawshank Redemption By Frank Darabont
The Shawshank Redemption directed by Frank Darabont is a 1994 American drama film set in the
Ohio State Reformatory in Mansfield, Ohio. The film is an enthralling film about the survival of
one of its prisoners, Andy Dufresne, the protagonist convicted to life imprisonment in Shawshank
prison during 1947. Facing incarceration, Andy s character as a city banker forms a relationship
with a prison inmate Red to fight despair. Darabont uses film techniques such as camera work,
soundtrack and lighting and colour to present the main theme of hope. The theme of hope
intentionally revealed is that the hope of identity are the key to redemption as the prisoners
confront institutionalism . Hope can be conceived as an innovation to get busy living . Frank
Darabontconveys the theme of hope as the key to survival in the prison.
The protagonist, Andy Dufresne is a resourcefully calm intelligent character. Andy Dufresne is a
character sent to prison due to the murder of his wife and her lover. During the opening scenes
the directors convince the audience that the character of Andy Dufresne is as a pleasant man. This
shows that the audience expectations are defeated because the audience would not suspect a man
like Andy Dufresne to end up in jail. Andy s clam characteristics are provoked during the scene he
is abused by the sisters but as Andy is approached to be calm character he approaches the situation
with intellect over violence. He is shown to differ from other character

Do not avoid stress. You cannot run away from it. Even if you think you can, you will eventually
reach a dead end or it will catch up with you. When that happens, you will only end up with more
stress than you can originally handle.

First, it can relieve you of the stress that you are already experiencing. Second, it conditions you and
strengthens you so that you can endure more stress.
The ideal average time for exercise is a total of 150 minutes of moderate intensity activity spread
out over the days of the week. The physical exertion will strengthen your heart, burn extra calories,
improve breathing and circulation, release your body s natural stress relievers, lifts your mood,
and keeps you in tip top shape.
Balanced Nutrition
Food can influence your ability to adjust to excessive stress. If you improperly feed yourself
either by eating the wrong food or by eating the right food in inappropriate amounts you will
become vulnerable to stress. Make sure that you are getting your daily requirement of go, grow,
and glow foods. There is no universal formula for this. Each person has different requirements,
depending on the person s overall health, current medical condition, and level of physical activity.
Proper nutrition also means moderation with alcohol and caffeine intake, as well as avoiding
cigarette smoking. Alcohol, caffeine, and nicotine have been known to jack up stress and anxiety
rather than lower them.

Walter LeeВґs Evolution in A Raisin In the Sun by Lorraine...
In many works of literature, some characters change and grow while others remain the same. A
character who changes is known as a dynamic character. In the novel A Raisin In the Sun by
Lorraine Hansberry, the main character, Walter Lee Younger, is an example of a dynamic
character. Walter lives with his wife Ruth, his sister Beneatha, his son Travis, and his mother
Lena in a small, one family apartment in the southside of Chicago. The black Younger family
lived in a time period between 1945 and 1959 when black segregation was starting to become
more recognized. They are barely making it through life moneywise and the family seems to be
becoming weaker. Walter is an example of a dynamic characterbecause his character evolves
throughout the novelby changing from a selfless, caring, family man to a very selfish person,
only looking out for himself. Walters idea of an american dream is to have everything. He wants
his family to have the best of everything. Walter works hard everyday as a chauffeur for a rich
white man. He has strong work ethics and works extremely hard. Mr. Younger wants to earn as
much money as he can because he believes it will bring his family peacefulness and happiness.
Mr. Younger s main goal is to have money and he dreams up so many different ways to make
money that he is sometimes overwhelms himself. He doesn t want to think about reality and how
things really are. He only concentrates on the future. Even though he knows in the back of

The Pros And Consequences Of Overfishing
All around the world fishing fleets are growing both in quantity and size, and are fishing at a
dangerous rate. Overfishing has been the root cause of the drastic drop in sea wildlife at rates too
high for fish and whale species to replace themselves, this issue gained attention in the mid 20th
century and led the creation of regulation organization policies both from state governments and the
organizations. For the past three decades overfishing is still an ongoing environmental issue, there
is international support invested in bringing awareness and developing methods to save what has
been lost, but there is also international opposition due to the actors either fighting to keep
regulations at a minimum or looking for exceptions or loopholes to the regulations, actors are also
just not complying with the set regulations. This paper will focus on examining two environmental
regimes, fisheries depletion and whaling, both regimes share a number of similarities in regards to
being a global commons issue, nature of agreements, and economic profit industries working
against them, but they had different outcomes.
In comparison to each other, the fishery depletion regime has had a low level of effectiveness
while the whaling regime has had a medium level of effectiveness, the aim of this paper is to
identify what caused the difference in outcomes. The first part of the paper will be divided into

In act 1 scene 2 of Hamlet the character Hamlet speaks his first soliloquy which reveals his
innermost thoughts and feelings to the audience. In this soliloquy Hamlet s unstable state of mind
is evident as well as his feelings of despair about his father s death and his disgust of his mother s
remarriage to his uncle Claudius. Hamlets hatred for his uncle is shown through harsh comparisons
between Claudius and his late father. This soliloquy takes place after Claudius has begun his reign
as king and has addressed the court for the first time but before Hamlet hears about the apparition

In the soliloquy it is shown that while Hamlet does not like his uncle he blames his mother for
all that has happened especially her weak disposition that caused her to marry Claudius as seen
in the line frailty thy name is women . In the line Hamlet generalizes all women showing his
instability as he does not understand the difference between his mother s actions and all women.
His anger towards his mother is also shown in his comparison of her being like Niobe all tears
because like the mythological figure Niobe she also mourned however Niobe was turned to stone
and kept weaping which suggests that he considers her to be hypocritical because while she cried
and mourned she remarried only a month after her husband died. This idea is also shown in the
line a beast would have mourned longer showing that because of her betrayal he considers her to
be an unfeeling animal. Hamlet s anger builds throughout the soliloquy until he comes to the
realization that he cannot reveal his true thoughts to anyone but break my heart for I must hold my
tongue. Because of the anger Hamlet feels at his mother s remarriage he compares his uncle to his
father the late king Hamlet. His comparisons are quite harsh such as Hyperion to a satyr this
classical allusion shows his prejudice against his uncle by considering his father a god and his
uncle to be half goat. The comparison as well as others seen in

Dietary Analysis of Sympatric Mammalian Carnivores in the...
Resource partitioning occurs amongst animals that share the same resources, such as food and
space (Shoener 1974), and allows for their coexistence (May 1973). The different utilization of
spatial, temporal, and trophic niches between sympatric species allows for their partitioning of
resources (JГЎcomo et al. 2004). Difference in body mass is one of the factors that contribute to
the coexistence of species in that different sized animals will generally eat different sized food
items, therefore utilizing different resources and reducing competition (Wilson 1975; JГЎcomo et
al. 2004). In the case of predatory carnivores, as predator body mass increases, the size of their prey
increases (Gittleman 1985; VГ©zina 1985). Differences in body... Show more content on

The diets of the remaining mesocarnivores are relatively similar in that they all primarily prey on
small to medium sized lagomorphs and rodents, with fishers having an affinity for porcupines.
The remainder of the mesocarnivore diet consists of reptiles, birds, carrion, and with the
exception of bobcats, fruit and insects (Cavallini et al. 2009). In this study, the diets of these
carnivores in Keweenaw County will be analyzed to determine prey partitioning through scat
analyses and the use of scent stations. Specifically, the hypotheses tested will be that black bears
will consume primarily plant material, gray wolves will feed primarily on large ungulates, and
amongst the mesocarnivores, predator body mass will correlate with prey size. In particular, the
larger coyotes and bobcats will feed primarily on medium sized mammalian prey, such as
snowshoe hares and cottontail rabbits, and the smaller red foxes, fishers, and American martens
will feed primarily on smaller prey, such as voles, mice, and squirrels, along with porcupines in the
fisher diet. Methods Study Area The 1,400 square kilometer study area is Keweenaw County,

Walt Disney s Influence On The Entertainment Industry
Walt Disney was a very influential man to the entertainment industry. He made animation a
whole new type of entertainment. Although Walt went through many struggles and problems, he
pushed on and eventually saw results for all his hard work. Many hardships got in Disney s way
such as unsupportive parents and even bankruptcy; Walt pushed on through, always creating,
working hard, and persevering to accomplish his dream. Walter Elias Disney was born on
December 5, 1901, in Chicago, Illinois. His father, Elias, was a carpenter when Walt was born.
Eventually, Elias and his wife, Flora, saved up enough money to start a home building company
together. Walter had four siblings: Roy, Herbert, Raymond, and Ruth (Russell 9). Because Ruth
was younger than Walt, Walt waited until the age of seven to start school so that he could start
at the same time as Ruth. Before he went to school, his mother, Flora, taught him how to read
(Russell 10). Walt grew up on the Disney family farm and worked hard on the farm. He worked
at the neighbor s farm raising corn, wheat, barley, cows, pigs, and chickens (Giltin 18). Later,
Elias grew sick, and the Disney s had to sell the farm. They moved to Kansas City (Russell 11).
Throughout Walter s schooling, he loved to be on stage directing, producing, and being on stage
(Russell 11). Many things inspired Walt Disney s creativity: moving, roaming, playing in the

The Rise Of The Roman Empire
In 448 AD, Greek writer and historian Priscus journeyed from Constantinople to meet with Attila
the Hun. Pricus wrote down the events of his journey, leaving one of the few first hand accounts of
a diplomatic meeting with the Huns. His writings can tell us much about how the Huns interacted
with other cultures and societies and how Attila specifically welcomed his guests to his court.
Europe, in the 5th century, was undergoing many societal changes. Many of these changes were
associated with the introduction of new barbarian tribes barbarian is derived from the Greek word
babblers meaning anyone who did not speak Greek. During the decline of the Roman Empire, many
barbaric tribes took the opportunity to attack. The migration of barbarians closer to Rome put
stress on an already stressed Roman government. The increased tension eventually lead to an
outbreak of wars. In 410 Rome was sacked by the Visigoths lead by Alaric and was attacked again
in 455 but the Vandals( Dining With Attila the Hun, 448 ). Attacks on the Roman Empire by the
Huns did not start until the middle of the 5th century. The Huns crossed the Danube in 441, upon
crossing they sacked the city of Margus ( Late Roman Timeline ). The Huns in 442 cross the
Danube again this time sacking more cities than they had the previous year. The Roman
government began to grow fearful of the army Attila had established under his rule. This fear forced
the Roman Empire to start paying Attila and his Huns from invading

Muscle Contraction Lab Report
Effects of Varying Lengths of Rana Pipiens Gastrocnemius on Tetanic Contraction
Joshua Porter, Sofia Tuttle, Yoniko Washington
TA: Ryan Hoffman
Abstract Muscles play an essential role in vertebrate life from maintaining posture and locomotion
to controlling the heart. Better understanding them is essential to better understanding life
processes. (2) In this experiment, the effects of muscle length on the tetanic contraction tension of
the gastrocnemius muscle of a rana pipiens were observed. It was hypothesized that the highest
tension would be observed at the equilibrium length as observed in peer reviewed sources. (3,4,5)
The independent variable was the length of the muscle and the dependent variable was the muscle
tension. This experiment was done on one rana pipiens. The tetanic muscle contraction was
observed by stimulating it with a current of 1.5 amps at a frequency 20 hz at various muscle

and the muscle was stimulated. Then the current was increased by 0.1 Amps and the muscle

which in this case was at 1.5 Amps. Then the tetanus frequency was determined. First the current

pulses and the length of each pulse. So the frequency was increased accordingly and the results of
muscle stimulation were observed. The frequency was tested at 5 Hz (pulse = 5, period = 200), 10

William Of Orange And James II And The Glorious Revolution
Background On July 1 1690, William of Orange and James II led their respective armies into
battle at the River Boyne. James II was a Catholic king who gained power in England after King
Charles II died in 1685. Many of James opponents were Protestant, and they were strongly against
the Catholic monarch. James daughter, Mary, was married to William of Orange, and she was
Protestant. For many years, Mary was James only child. This meant that if James II died, she
would take the throne. This brought great comfort to the Protestant groups in Ireland, as their ruler
would no longer be Catholic. However, when James wife had a son, the crown would be passed to
him, and England would have another Catholic monarch. This caused panic and outrage from
James Protestant opponents, which led them to invite William of Orange to invade England and
overthrow James II (BBC: Battle of the Boyne). William accepted, and he and his army invaded
England in November of 1688. The invasion was successful, and William and Mary were awarded
the throne as joint monarchs. This event was known as the Glorious Revolution . For a year, James
II chose not to fight. Many English nobles were taking the side of William. This made James
reluctant to attempt to regain the throne (BBC: Battle of the Boyne).

The flintlock musket. Ironically, the flintlock musket was originally designed for King Louis by a

gunpowder used while shooting. This innovation led to the birth of the modern firearm (The

Benefits And Benefits Of A Lunch Hours
Lunch hours are the times that the bank is busiest the most. The customers want to be sure that
they can be taken care of in a minimal amount of time and still have time left on their lunch hour.
Since most customers come during this time, the wait times can be a little longer. Reed (2014)
gives an example of a customer having to take a half day off from work just to complete account
documents. At Capital One, the customer may not need to take a half day to complete an account,
but the opening process does take about 45 minutes. Reed (2014) further explains that digital

During account opening, the banker has the customer sign a signature card. Once the signature card
is scanned, it is filed away. Sometimes, this may not happen and the document may be misplaced.
There are two inconveniences that this may cause: customer inconvenience and customer
information is compromised. The customer may be inconvenienced if the signature did not register
properly in the system; the customer may need to come back into the branch to complete another
signature card. In addition, there is so much personal information on this signature card that it
would be detrimental to the bank and to the customer if this information had been retrieved by
someone else. Electronic signatures could be a remedy for all these issues. If the customer signs a
signature pad, there is no information being left on a paper that can potentially get lost. Also, the
signature would already be on file before the customer leaves the branch so there would never be a
need for the customer to return to the branch to re sign a document.
POTENTIAL DRAWBACKS
Throughout the proposal, much information has been given to explain the benefits of implementing
a paperless environment at Capital One bank. There are also some drawbacks that should be taken
into consideration when deciding whether or not to implement this paperless environment. Table 3
below shows the benefits and potential drawbacks of integrating a paperless environment in the

CHAPTER 2: INDUSTRY ANALYSIS
GEICO operates in the insurance business which is regulated by the Federal Insurance Office in the
United States. The insurance industry in the United States is the largest in the world in terms of
insurance premiums, exceeding $1.2trillion. Despite this it is not in the top 10 countries of the
world in terms of the insurance premiums paid per capita of population. This indicates that there are
still unsaturated markets to be tapped which gives a huge scope of future growth.
The auto insurance industry provides products (insurance policies) which are more or less
homogeneous creating the need for differentiation which can be achieved by advertising your
company in a unique manner or identifying various target segments in the market and concentrating
your business on them. For the same reason, this industry has one of the highest advertising to sales
ratio.

Theodore Geisel Quote
I take this quote by Theodore Geisel to mean that when you speak your mind and be yourself,
those who criticize or shame you for being who you are and sharing your thoughts and opinions
shouldn t matter to you and the people who really matter won t be mad that you chose to show
who you are. There are many different situations in which these apply. Some situations include
attending junior high and high school, applying for college and jobs, and sharing political
viewpoints. As Sol Luckman said, I just want to live my own life instead of everyone else s
version of it. And this quote shows that instead of lying to others about how you feel, you should
just be yourself. This quote by Geisel matters in junior high and high school because near that time
peer pressure tends to become prevalent. The reason that most teenagers succumb to peer pressure
isn t the fear of saying no to your friends. It s the prospect of being alone. The main consequence
of saying no to negative peer pressure is not just withstanding the heat of the moment, as most
adults think. Rather, it is coping with a sense of exclusion as others engage in the behavior and
leave the adolescent increasingly alone. It is the loss of the shared experience. Further, the sense of
exclusion remains whenever the group later recounts what happened. This... Show more content on

The Standards Of The Iso 27001 Certification
Introduction/Background Companies are perpetually affected by compliance. If a company is to
meet compliance standards, they must maintain this if they wish to continue operating. If they are
unable to meet them, then the business is likely doomed for failure. It is a tough battle on either
front. To make matters harder, some compliances are not actually a legal requirement, but not
meeting them would spell certain doom for the company. This idea is no different for Organization
A. Organization A s reputation and maintained business continuity are contingent upon specific
regulations and compliance. Without this compliance, the organization will no longer hold the
respect and credibility they currently have. This paper focuses on Organization A s attitude and
handling of the ISO 27001 certification as well as organizational auditingconcerns.
To provide background, Organization A is a consulting firm specializing in forensics, cyber security,

court setting. The need to provide clients with verified, unaltered information is crucial in ensuring
that the law is properly administered. Without specific compliances and certifications, proving the
organization is acting properly becomes exceedingly difficult to do in court. The major compliance

Role Of Madness In Macbeth
And nothing is but what is not (1.3.155). What matters to Macbeth is what does not exist, and those
that exist do not matter: Macbeth says these words while thinking of murder. Macbeth begins his
descent into madness through the act to follow. However innocent he thinks he is, he is but the
serpent underneath it. Shakespeare creates his character Macbethin a such a way that he starts off
sane, and through certain actions that Shakespeare characterizes as evil, he falls. In the play

As Macbeth moves throughout the play, he makes decisions based on greed and insecurity.
These decisions are influenced by his diseased mind which is crippled by his paradoxical
thoughts. While planning to kill Banquo, he shares that full of scorpions is my mind, dear
wife! Thou know st that Banquo, and his Fleance, lives / But in them nature s copy s not eterne.
/ There s comfort yet; they are assailable (3.2.41 44). Macbeth knows that his mind is diseased
and while knowing that Banquo and his son is alive, his mind tricks him into thinking they are
dangerous. Shakespeare compares Macbeth s mind to be full of scorpions . Scorpions attack by
using their tails and stabbing poison into someone. The scorpion attacking him is his own greed
and the poison is from what the greed leads to. His greed, filling his mind more and more with
bad thoughts, until finally he is poisoned with the thoughts of killing to get what he wants. The
idea that Macbeth s head is full of scorpions suggests that over time his thoughts are getting a
little more poisoned over and over again until finally he dies. His state of mind now inhabited by
scorpions leads him to making paradoxical decisions. Macbeth feels comfort in knowing that
nature s copy is eterne for him but he also feels threatened by his successor being Fleance. Lady
Macbeth tries to comfort him by telling him he has eternal life and his assailants do not. He
agrees with his wife s comfort but he is still not sure. His thoughts are paradoxical because he

This essay suggests that the narrator is drowning, Looking back, I wonder why all of us who
were subject to my grandfather s assaults me, my sisters, my cousins, and my mother, her sister,
their cousins before us didn t display more unmistakable signs of distress (Morgan 322). This
quote suggests that the narrator feels like she is drowning, because the author states that
drowning is quiet, and that is what the narrator doing, keeping quiet by not saying anything.
Readers could interpret the drowning swimmers as depressed people or the swimmers in distress
as the people who experience temporary panic, like students panicking over an essay. The
swimmers in distress are the people who panic over something that will eventually pass, because
they feel as if there is hope for them. If readers do not interpret the narrator as depressed, they may
say that narrator did not say anything because she did not know what to say, and writing this essay
was enough to speak out.
Essays found in the anthology are compelling because of the way certain concepts were
expressed in the essays. The authors do not fully give away what happens after the essay or
what each thing symbolizes. These pieces give the readers a sense of mystery. When a sense of
mystery is given, people are able to debate what happens in the piece. The essay, The Body by A.T

Benefits Of Private School Education
How important is it for you to provide this for underprivileged students?
It s huge for me to help all kids, kids are our future if we give them all the tools they can do
anything they want in this world. For me, it s trying to put kids in the right situation, and give them
the opportunity to succeed in whatever field they choose.
Did you have many educational experiences such as the one that you re currently providing
growing up in SC?
I went to a private high school, my parents received help from a lot of anonymous donors that I m
truly grateful for. It s cool that I m in the position to help kids do the same thing that was given to
me.
How was the educational system for you growing up before you went to private school?
It was rough, I went to public school up into seventh grade my parents felt like private school was
going to help me be a better leader so they stressed a private school education. It was a dramatic
change for me, but I needed it for college, and for after college.
What s the difference between Public and Private School?
It was different, in Public school you have everyone from your neighborhood, and the
surrounding neighborhoods, it was fun, but going to private school is different, you have all these
types of kids from all over Charleston that were all about their education. It was a huge change for
me and it took me a while to adjust, but looking back it was the best decision that I made.

of New Entrants New entrants into an industry bring with them the capacity and a desire to

Internal Struggles Of The Bread Giver
Internal Struggles of the Bread Giver
The Bread Giver is about an internal struggle that went on within a recently immigrated Jewish
family. Not only were they coping with the changes of coming to America, but gender roles
within the larger community were also shifting. The turn of the century was ripe to explore areas
of tradition that many racial groups considered revered, and traditionally held beliefs would be
called into question when likened to issues of practicality and basic survival needs. The
evolutionary process from old to new had begun and there was no way to stop its forward
movement. Sara was soon to become a pioneer in her own right.
Reb Smolinsky, the forbearer of the family, spent his life on a quest for enriched learning and
understanding of the Holy Torah. His Talmudic study and religious discussions were an honored
occupation in the eyes of the Jewish community, but provided little in support for his family;
therefore, the family was forced to accept community donations of charity for their basic needs.
While the pursuit of religious focus was considered a respectable profession among the males,
females of the household were only educated in the essentials and expected to work and sacrifice
for the males. While Mr. Smolinsky saw the badge of poverty as an honor and responsibility, the
females in the family were embarrassed and humiliated amongst their neighbors and always
worried about what the next day would bring. This is hard for some of

Water pollution has been a growing concern in the United States, from the BP oil spill to the Flint

humans and animals. Polychlorinated biphenyls, or PCBs, were used widely as coolants and
lubricants in transformers, capacitors, and other electrical equipment. The manufacture of PCBs

Michigan whose mothers had been exposed to PCBs were found to have decreased birth weight
and head size, lowered performance on standardized memory, psychomotor and behavioral tests,
and lowered IQ (Jacobson and Jacobson 1996). Another group of women exposed to PCBs in
upstate New York due to the nature of their jobs had shorter pregnancies and gave birth to children
with lower birth weight. Research has also shown that women who consumed PCB contaminated

The Arguments In Albert Einstein s Solvay Conference
Albert Einstein was one of the many incredible scientists that went to the Solvay Conference. In
1927, scientists from all around the world came to present their arguments against each other at the
Solvay Conference in Brussels. A few couple of scientists in particular, one being Albert Einstein
and the other being Niels Bohr, continued to present arguments and counterarguments against each
other to prove who s theory made the most sense. As much as Einstein fought, Bohr just kept
fighting back. Bohr came up with every counterargument possible and even brought up Einstein s
Theory of Relativity and used it against him. At the end of the day, Niels Bohr had won against
Einstein. Niels Bohr was another large piece of the Solvay Conference in 1927. He and Einstein
were the stars of the show, as they both battled to prove their theories. Niels Bohr s theory was
about Quantum Mechanics . Even today we still use this theory. The teachers teach this to the

(Reverby, S.M., 2009)
This study was a symbol of unethical conduct and racial discrimination in medicine primarily
because of two reasons. First, the subjects were never told that they had syphilis and thus,
informed consent did not play any role in this experiment. Secondly, the subjects were told that
they were being treated for bad blood , a term used in the local language for various illnesses
such as anemia and fatigue. In reality, however, the officials never treated the subjects for
syphilis. The subjects were only provided free medical exams, free meals and burial insurance in
return for their participation in the study. The only permission which was taken from the subjects
was that to autopsy their body after death as also paying for their burial. Thus, the Tuskegee

Causes of Japanese Stagnation
Causes of Japanese Stagnation
Weak Corporate Governance
Corporate governance has been a major issue for Japan and has undoubtedly affected the economic
growth of the country. In 2012, what is considered commonplace in regards to corporate governance
in many countries, including Asian countries, is not the norm in Japan. For example, in countries
like India, China, and South Korea, companies are required to have at least one independent
director. In New York, a firm must have a majority of independent members in their board of
directors. According to a study in 2011, out of 1,668 Japanese firms only 34% had at least one
independent director. (insert citation). According to Yuko Kawamoto of Waseda University,
Japanese bosses argue that similar rules in Japan would limit managers freedom (as stated in
Back to the Drawing Board, 2012). Also in Japan, shareholders do not have any one to advocate
for them because boardroom committees have no legal status ( Corporate Governance in Japan,
2012). All of this, coupled with Japan s culture of foreign exclusion, is a big problem for the
country. By not paying attention to its competitors, especially in Asia, and not expanding the
culture of their corporate boards, Japan is missing out on many opportunities to look beyond their
borders and successfully grow their economy.
Weak Banking Sector

which ultimately led to a banking crisis in

Paper Towels And Its Effects On The World
I still remember the pause I had when I was about to pull the paper towel in the restroom of my
college. That pause came with the recollection of the commitment I had made, not to use things
whose productions lead to deforestation conversion of forested regions to non forest land for
human use and industrial gain until I really need it. After a long look at the mirror, I smirked to
myself and turned around settling my wet hands in my pants pocket so that they would dry till I
reach my class. After a few days of attachment to the commitment, I realized that although it
might be just a drop of water in an ocean but we can really minimize the consumption of products
that lead to deforestation. For that, I have decided to recycle my books and also prioritize in
purchasing recycled materials as much as possible. Carrying handkerchief instead of paper towels
is another thing that I have decided to do. Alongside that, I have convinced my friends to reduce
the use of products that come from forest resources which they are legitimately positive about .
Deep thinking on well known yet ignored issue of deforestation and its consequences which needs
to be controlled in order to maintain livable environment in this world convinced me to make some
commitments in hopes of minimizing the excessive use of products that lead to deforestation. The
trees in the jungle are cut to make paper to write reports on how to save forests , appreciating the

Commentary On A Police Series Episode Essay
Commentary On A Police Series Episode
The commentary I am going to write about is on a police series called the Bill. The Bill first
started in 1983 and quickly came a national institution, renowned for its real life feel, likeable
characters and accessible short story format but things have changed since then.
It is heading in a new direction bidding for larger audiences by making the Bill an all out serial with
longer running plot lines.
The particular episode I am writing about attracted a whopping 8.6 million viewers and shocked
the nation. In this episode P.C. Des Taviner threw a petrol bomb through his inspector s office
window.
The main characters are Sergeant June Ackland. She ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Earlier on that day, Des Taviner placed some counterfeit money into Inspector Conway s
memorial fund. He had also been killed by the racist gang. Taviner was intent on destroying the
money so he decided to throw a petrol bomb into the office. His actions cause 6 other officers to
be killed. It was a shocking spectacle. Later on Taviner claimed someone from the gang climbed the
wall and through the bomb at him. He was cleared for then but the past soon caught up with him.
There was only one officer who saw what Des did but he died in the result of the bomb blast. Most
of the other members of the station were not harmed although some were slightly injured.
The camera angles vary at different points of the scene. If two people are having a conversation
then you would have a medium shot from a high angle. If the shot is designed to focus attention
on someone s facial expression then the camera will have a close up of his face. When Des
threw the bomb the camera would have had a high angle and a close up view to express the size
of the bomb blast. Then would have had a close up of Taviners facial expression. The camera
would zoom slowly to create suspense and climax. This way the audience will be at the edge of their
seat. This sort of scene would be at the end of

Michel Faucault Discourse
According to Michel Faucault, discourse is a form of power that circulates in the social field and
can attach to strategies of domination as well as those of resistance . More particularly, discourse
are settings, context, actions, fundamental interaction and the significance that governs the way it
works with one another. Discourses could also be seen as a process where specific values and
structures that are forced to the actors to create a system of coercion.
For discourse analysis assignment, I observed a workplace setting with a specific set of discourse
and identity kit. The place that I chose is traditional Chinese restaurant that I used to dine in with
my family. The restaurant is very quiet in the morning and very busy at the dinner

Evaluating The Simplicity And Timeliness Of Sars...
The purpose of SARS surveillance system includes, early detection and prompt identification of
high risk subjects, super spreaders and disease cases and clusters, without intense laboratory
testing and complete reporting of potential SARS CoV transmission and outbreak with contact
tracing to contain the disease and prevent the spread. Post epidemic, ongoing surveillance of
SARS is useful in preparedness for future outbreaks, due to potential sources of re emergence like
animal reservoirs, humans with persistent infection and laboratory exposures or development of
novel coronavirus. [4] The operation is mostly as a syndromic surveillance, which is phased based
on the level of epidemic. Due to globalization and increased travelling and... Show more content on

[5] The system complex to be executed, as it was based on syndromic surveillance hence, the
disease identification was delayed until symptoms are exhibited. The patients were classified as
preliminary positive, probable, confirmed or unverifiable [6] with case definition and laboratory
testing that took time to give confirmation. Unnecessary travel to and from china was restricted
with strict travel advisory and data collection for contact tracing of passengers. A combined force
of WHO, GROAN and its partners made up of 115 technical and academic institutions, national
health services and individuals; virtual epidemiologist network, public health institutions,
ministries of health and laboratory network formed the response team for SARS. [4] The Global
SARS surveillance employed the mechanism of daily cases of SARS summary for that country.
This in turn was informed to WHO headquarters in Geneva, by national public health authorities
as a report containing number of incident cases and deaths since last report, cumulative number
of probable cases with the details of their geographical distribution. The local transmission in any
area if present was updated on WHO website daily. [4] Hence, the SARS surveillance was
complex requiring extensive laboratory reporting, multiple levels of reporting, integration of
systems requiring special skills to collect data and perform tests for diagnosis, and required a lot of
resources in the form of money

Does Classical Music Have An Effect On Infants Brain...
Does Classical Music Have an Effect on Infants Brain Development?
In 1998, Zell Miller, the governor of the state of Georgia, started a new program that distributed
free CDs with classical music to the parents of every newborn baby in Georgia. Why did he do
this? He certainly was not just trying to be nice and win a political statement; instead, his idea
came from a new line of research showing a link between listening to classical music and enhanced
brain development in infants. (1) So, what evidence was there for this governor to make a $105,000
proposal to give classical music for the newborn babies? I considered how my sister and I took
music lessons, the Suzuki method, since we were 7 or 8 years old, and how my mother ... Show

(2) However, soon enough, it was found that these results lasted only 10 15 minutes and more
research quickly was undertaken by various groups all over the world.
However, before continuing in this search of the validity of the Mozart effect, I feel like there
needs to be a definition of intelligence . Since we learned how tricky notions of words can be on
our minds from class, I took the liberty to search for how intelligence is measured and decided to
take the definition used by Wilfried Gruhn as being associated with cognitive and intellectual
capacity, the psychobiological potential to solve problems. This can be correlated with higher speed
in neuronal signal transmission and signal processing, stronger and more efficient neuronal
interconnectivity, and high correlation between IQ and neuronal activity (r=0.50 0.70). (3)
Now, if brain = behavior as we are learning in class (4), then there indeed should be a measurable
correlation between musically trained minds and their intelligence. In addition, there must be one
or more parts of the brain which are responsible for both these two behaviors of being musically
inclined and intelligent . And since the measure of intelligence is defined mainly concerning the
brain activity, I delved into the effects on music on brain idea that has always been accepted in my
childhood.
Assuming that brain = behavior, I wanted to find out

Essay about Fine Quality Baroque Music in the Era of...
Baroque music is the western music art style that was composed in the era of Renaissance, that is,
between 1600 and 1750. Music at any given period reflects tendencies, impulses and influences that
are found in art of other kinds of the same period. Therefore the name baroque also applied to the
architecture, literature and art in the same period. Baroquehas in the past and to some degree in the
present had the implications of abnormality, grotesqueness and absurdity. But in its applications to
musicin the Renaissance period the term baroque does not have connotations that are pejorative
because much of the music composed in this period is of high and fine quality (Swain, 7).
The instruments that are used for baroque music even now ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net

The performer however should be guided by some factors that help them know what instrument to
use where and what sound to get from what instrument (Donington, 131).
One, the performer should be able to distinguish indications that are scanty for the instruments that
the notations may be showing. In that all the instruments that the performer is using fit in the kind
of that they are playing. They should also look out for the effects of the musician that may need
working on for the actual performance (Donington, 131).
Two, as much as it is the responsibility of the performer to choose the instruments, looking up for
alternative instruments that are listed is important. That way, if there is an instrument that is
missing, the performer should always be able to get an alternative. This also suitable when the there
are many instruments needed, the alternative instruments can be used interchangeably (Donington,
131).
Three, the notion that instruments that are suitable are acceptable may not always work. A
performer should understand that every instrument is made for a specific use and should be the
only use it must be put to. That is, it would be impossible to use an instrument and try to make it
sound in a particular way. The distinctions were made in the baroque era as much as they do now
(Donington, 131). Every instrument in baroque music should be used to what it really is designed
to, this is to make sure that the sound of

Descriptive Essay On Drinking In School
Morning Routine Beep, beep, beep. Once I have heard that for the third time I finally drag myself
out of bed, and when I do, there is a flurry of events that happen before I get myself to school. The
events that take place on a day to day basis are showering, getting dressed, fixing my hair, eating
breakfast, doing leftover homework, and brushing my teeth. Mentioned above, the first thing I do
after getting out of bed is take a shower. The right way to take a shower is with lukewarm or cold
water because scalding water is bad for your skin and it also hurts. After I ve gotten in the
shower, I wet my hair down, and then get a quarter sized amount of shampoo. From there, I
lightly rub my hands together for five seconds; then, I gently scrub my scalp with shampoo
covered hands. After I completely cover my entire scalp in the shampoo lather, I tilt my head
forward and rinse the shampoo out of my hair. After the shampooing, I squeeze out a quarter
sized amount of conditioner onto my hands. Then, I spread the conditioner evenly in both of my
hands, and then lightly work the conditioner all over my scalp, like the shampoo. Although the
label on conditioners say to leave it in for a few minutes, it doesn t make a difference, so once I
ve applied the conditioner to my entire scalp, I tilt my head forward and rinse it out. Next, I grab
the body wash bottle and squeeze out around a quarter sized amount and scrub the upper half of
my body, and then I squeeze a little less than a

The Battle On Terror And The War On Drugs
In many ways, the war on terror and the war on drugs have merged. The type of red scare
rhetoric from the McCarthy era became nearly interchangeable with the drug war and terrorism
during the Reagan administration. We re in the middle of a major epidemic...Parents have a
right to feel terror, said Donald Ian MacDonald, Reagan s top drug advisor. He was referring to
drugs. Marlin Fitzwater, Reagan s Press Secretary openly admitted that everybody wants to out
drug each other in terms of political rhetoric. This battle of hyperbole was waged on both sides
of the political aisle. Even liberals like former Rep. Stephen Solarz (D NY) compared the danger
from the cartels to intercontinental ballistic missiles and wondered why we treat (their) threat so
lightly? Likewise, former Rep. Thomas F. Hartnett (R SC) declared that drugs were a national
security threat...worse than any nuclear warfare or any chemical warfare waged on any battlefield.
The two issues officially fused during the Reagan administration when the term narcoterrorism was
coined and an effective propaganda tool was formed. The Reagan administration asserted that drug
money from Latin America would be a source of funds to support insurgencies and subversion. This
eased the way for the Reagan administration to amend the Posse Comitatus Act thereby allowing
military involvement in the drug war. The Posse Comitatus Act was an act of Congress in 1878
which prohibited the government from using the

Anthrax can be dated back to early 1250 BC it was thought that during Moses time when God casted the ten plagues that Anthrax was responsible for the fifth plague that caused illness to the cattle. The ones that pertain to this case are as follows: it is the responsibility of archaeologists to work for the long term conservation and protection of the archaeological record (SAA 1, AIA 1, RPA 1.1 e). The buying and selling of objects out of archaeological context is contributing to the destruction of the archaeological record around the world, and these items should not be traded, sold, bought, or bartered as commercial goods (SAA 3, SHA 6, AIA 2, RPA 1.2 e). Finally, the last ethical dilemma to be discussed is the importance of archaeologists to inform the proper authorities when illegal trading, or selling, of artifacts is discovered. In the text it states, The two project directors reply that they will not purchase the pots themselves, nor will they guarantee that authorities will not be notified. They do, however, loan the men some gasoline and a video camera for a day, to record the pots and their location. It is questionable that the two directors would only imply that they could not promise the authorities would not be notified. It is their duty to do so, according to the statements and ethical codes of many archaeological organizations. They also give the local employees gasoline and a video camera for a day leads the reader to believe that they are okay with this sort of behavior and have no intention of notifying the proper authorities. It also says that because of the video camera, many of the villagers now know where the cave is, and will likely know what ends up happening to the pots. Because the villagers now know where the cave is, it is even more important that the authorities are notified so that similar situations do not arise with villagers scavenging the cave and finding more ... Calendars divided time over extended periods and arranged them in order, making them convenient for regulating daily life, religious holidays, and for historical and scientific purposes (Calendar). Throughout history, humans have used signs offered by nature, such as the phases of the Moonor the movement of the Sun, as the basis for various calendar systems (Calendar). During the Roman Republic, a group of priests called pontifices held the responsibility of shortening February and inserting a new month into the year (Wigelsworth). However, these authorities were not always effective; in times of war, when the group of priests did not meet regularly, the calendar fell out of line (Aldrete). Roman priests ultimately did not care about the accuracy of the calendar and were motivated by their own political interests; sometimes, they even altered the calendar to reduce or extend the terms of certain public officials (Roman Republican Calendar). Though the objective was at first to have a calendar accurate to natural events, the people who implemented reform had ulterior motives, hindering the effectiveness of the proposals they were responsible for. Though it was vital for the Roman government to serve the gods by celebrating religious festivals at the right time, the government clearly did not always do its duty (Emmons). 1 Indeed, cosmetic edits to the calendar honored the power of authorities. Trust could be a feeling, or a cause and effect type of thing. Of course, one cannot say that trust is infinite. Because trust can be gained and lost, and is seen in the actions of us humans as we live our lives. Some perceive trustas being put it in things such as, God, science, doctors, parents, or even water treatment plant operators. Other people look at trust only within in a relationship perspective, such as, being there for your mate. For example, trusting, supporting and showing genuine care for one another. Trust would also be demonstrated through consistency in his /her actions. For example, showing up for dates agreed upon time. Keeping private information just between the two of you and always respecting boundaries. If you only look at trust from these ways you limit trust. Trust covers nearly every aspect of our lives and displays who you are as individuals. Trust should be earned not given, and some of the traits of trust are authenticity, experience, confidence, honesty, and integrity. Authenticity is a trait of trust. Being authentically trustworthy requires that you be honest in all your dealings big and small. In the yard there is a baseball that hangs from the tree with a bat leaning against it. In the play, Rose is a caring woman who devoted her life to Troy, her husband. Being ten years younger than Troy, Rose still found Troy s spirit fine and illuminating (3). She also cares for their son Corey. Resource partitioning occurs amongst animals that share the same resources, such as food and space (Shoener 1974), and allows for their coexistence (May 1973). The different utilization of spatial, temporal, and trophic niches between sympatric species allows for their partitioning of resources (JГЎcomo et al. 2004). Difference in body mass is one of the factors that contribute to the coexistence of species in that different sized animals will generally eat different sized food items, therefore utilizing different resources and reducing competition (Wilson 1975; JГЎcomo et al. 2004). James II was a Catholic king who gained power in England after King Charles II died in 1685. Many of James opponents were Protestant, and they were strongly against the Catholic monarch. James daughter, Mary, was married to William of Orange, and she was Protestant. For many years, Mary was James only child. This meant that if James II died, she would take the throne. This brought great comfort to the Protestant groups in Ireland, as their ruler would no longer be Catholic. However, when James wife had a son, the crown would be passed to him, and England would have another Catholic monarch. This caused panic and outrage from James Protestant opponents, which led them to invite William of Orange to invade England and overthrow James II (BBC: Battle of the Boyne). The customers want to be sure that they can be taken care of in a minimal amount of time and still have time left on their lunch hour. Since most customers come during this time, the wait times can be a little longer. Reed (2014) gives an example of a customer having to take a half day off from work just to complete account documents. At Capital One, the customer may not need to take a half day to complete an account, but the opening process does take about 45 minutes. During account opening, the banker has the customer sign a signature card. Once the signature card is scanned, it is filed away. Sometimes, this may not happen and the document may be misplaced. There are two inconveniences that this may cause: customer inconvenience and customer information is compromised. The customer may be inconvenienced if the signature did not register properly in the system; the customer may need to come back into the branch to complete another signature card. In addition, there is so much personal information on this signature card that it would be detrimental to the bank and to the customer if this information had been retrieved by someone else. Electronic signatures could be a remedy for all these issues. If the customer signs a signature pad, there is no information being left on a paper that can potentially get lost. Also, the signature would already be on file before the customer leaves the branch so there would never be a need for the customer to return to the branch to re sign a document. POTENTIAL DRAWBACKS Throughout the proposal, much information has been given to explain the benefits of implementing a paperless environment at Capital One bank. There are also some drawbacks that should be taken into consideration when deciding whether or not to implement this paperless environment. Theodore Geisel Quote I take this quote by Theodore Geisel to mean that when you speak your mind and be yourself, those who criticize or shame you for being who you are and sharing your thoughts and opinions shouldn t matter to you and the people who really matter won t be mad that you chose to show who you are. There are many different situations in which these apply. Some situations include attending junior high and high school, applying for college and jobs, and sharing political viewpoints. As Sol Luckman said, I just want to live my own life instead of everyone else s version of it. And this quote shows that instead of lying to others about how you feel, you should just be yourself. This quote by Geisel matters in junior high and high school because near that time peer pressure tends to become prevalent. The reason that most teenagers succumb to peer pressure isn t the fear of saying no to your friends. It s the prospect of being alone. The main consequence of saying no to negative peer pressure is not just withstanding the heat of the moment, as most adults think. This quote suggests that the narrator feels like she is drowning, because the author states that drowning is quiet, and that is what the narrator doing, keeping quiet by not saying anything. Readers could interpret the drowning swimmers as depressed people or the swimmers in distress as the people who experience temporary panic, like students panicking over an essay. The swimmers in distress are the people who panic over something that will eventually pass, because they feel as if there is hope for them. In 2012, what is considered commonplace in regards to corporate governance in many countries, including Asian countries, is not the norm in Japan. For example, in countries like India, China, and South Korea, companies are required to have at least one independent director. In New York, a firm must have a majority of independent members in their board of directors. According to a study in 2011, out of 1,668 Japanese firms only 34% had at least one independent director. Also in Japan, shareholders do not have any one to advocate for them because boardroom committees have no legal status ( Corporate Governance in Japan, 2012). All of this, coupled with Japan s culture of foreign exclusion, is a big problem for the country. By not paying attention to its competitors, especially in Asia, and not expanding the culture of their corporate boards, Japan is missing out on many opportunities to look beyond their borders and successfully grow their economy. When Des threw the bomb the camera would have had a high angle and a close up view to express the size of the bomb blast. Then would have had a close up of Taviners facial expression. The camera would zoom slowly to create suspense and climax. This way the audience will be at the edge of their seat. This sort of scene would be at the end of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

Michel Faucault Discourse According to Michel Faucault, discourse is a form of power that circulates in the social field and can attach to strategies of domination as well as those of resistance . More particularly, discourse are settings, context, actions, fundamental interaction and the significance that governs the way it works with one another. Discourses could also be seen as a process where specific values and structures that are forced to the actors to create a system of coercion. The purpose of SARS surveillance system includes, early detection and prompt identification of high risk subjects, super spreaders and disease cases and clusters, without intense laboratory testing and complete reporting of potential SARS CoV transmission and outbreak with contact tracing to contain the disease and prevent the spread. Post epidemic, ongoing surveillance of SARS is useful in preparedness for future outbreaks, due to potential sources of re emergence like animal reservoirs, humans with persistent infection and laboratory exposures or development of novel coronavirus. [4] The operation is mostly as a syndromic surveillance, which is phased based on the level of epidemic. Due to globalization and increased travelling and... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The patients were classified as preliminary positive, probable, confirmed or unverifiable [6] with case definition and laboratory testing that took time to give confirmation. Unnecessary travel to and from china was restricted with strict travel advisory and data collection for contact tracing of passengers. A combined force of WHO, GROAN and its partners made up of 115 technical and academic institutions, national health services and individuals; virtual epidemiologist network, public health institutions, ministries of health and laboratory network formed the response team for SARS. [4] The Global SARS surveillance employed the mechanism of daily cases of SARS summary for that country. This in turn was informed to WHO headquarters in Geneva, by national public health authorities as a report containing number of incident cases and deaths since last report, cumulative number of probable cases with the details of their geographical distribution. The local transmission in any area if present was updated on WHO website daily. [4] Hence, the SARS surveillance was complex requiring extensive laboratory reporting, multiple levels of reporting, integration of systems requiring special skills to collect data and perform tests for diagnosis, and required a lot of resources in the form of money ... • 45. Does Classical Music Have An Effect On Infants Brain... Does Classical Music Have an Effect on Infants Brain Development? In 1998, Zell Miller, the governor of the state of Georgia, started a new program that distributed free CDs with classical music to the parents of every newborn baby in Georgia. Why did he do this? He certainly was not just trying to be nice and win a political statement; instead, his idea came from a new line of research showing a link between listening to classical music and enhanced brain development in infants. (1) So, what evidence was there for this governor to make a $105,000 proposal to give classical music for the newborn babies? I considered how my sister and I took music lessons, the Suzuki method, since we were 7 or 8 years old, and how my mother ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... (2) However, soon enough, it was found that these results lasted only 10 15 minutes and more research quickly was undertaken by various groups all over the world. However, before continuing in this search of the validity of the Mozart effect, I feel like there needs to be a definition of intelligence . Since we learned how tricky notions of words can be on our minds from class, I took the liberty to search for how intelligence is measured and decided to take the definition used by Wilfried Gruhn as being associated with cognitive and intellectual capacity, the psychobiological potential to solve problems. This can be correlated with higher speed in neuronal signal transmission and signal processing, stronger and more efficient neuronal interconnectivity, and high correlation between IQ and neuronal activity (r=0.50 0.70). (3) Now, if brain = behavior as we are learning in class (4), then there indeed should be a measurable correlation between musically trained minds and their intelligence. In addition, there must be one or more parts of the brain which are responsible for both these two behaviors of being musically inclined and intelligent . And since the measure of intelligence is defined mainly concerning the brain activity, I delved into the effects on music on brain idea that has always been accepted in my childhood. Assuming that brain = behavior, I wanted to find out ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 48. Essay about Fine Quality Baroque Music in the Era of... Baroque music is the western music art style that was composed in the era of Renaissance, that is, between 1600 and 1750. Music at any given period reflects tendencies, impulses and influences that are found in art of other kinds of the same period. Therefore the name baroque also applied to the architecture, literature and art in the same period. Baroquehas in the past and to some degree in the present had the implications of abnormality, grotesqueness and absurdity. But in its applications to musicin the Renaissance period the term baroque does not have connotations that are pejorative because much of the music composed in this period is of high and fine quality (Swain, 7). The instruments that are used for baroque music even now ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... The performer however should be guided by some factors that help them know what instrument to use where and what sound to get from what instrument (Donington, 131). One, the performer should be able to distinguish indications that are scanty for the instruments that the notations may be showing. In that all the instruments that the performer is using fit in the kind of that they are playing. They should also look out for the effects of the musician that may need working on for the actual performance (Donington, 131). Two, as much as it is the responsibility of the performer to choose the instruments, looking up for alternative instruments that are listed is important. That way, if there is an instrument that is missing, the performer should always be able to get an alternative. This also suitable when the there are many instruments needed, the alternative instruments can be used interchangeably (Donington, 131). Three, the notion that instruments that are suitable are acceptable may not always work. A performer should understand that every instrument is made for a specific use and should be the only use it must be put to. That is, it would be impossible to use an instrument and try to make it sound in a particular way. The distinctions were made in the baroque era as much as they do now (Donington, 131). Every instrument in baroque music should be used to what it really is designed to, this is to make sure that the sound of ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

  • 50. Descriptive Essay On Drinking In School Morning Routine Beep, beep, beep. Once I have heard that for the third time I finally drag myself out of bed, and when I do, there is a flurry of events that happen before I get myself to school. The events that take place on a day to day basis are showering, getting dressed, fixing my hair, eating breakfast, doing leftover homework, and brushing my teeth. Mentioned above, the first thing I do after getting out of bed is take a shower. The right way to take a shower is with lukewarm or cold water because scalding water is bad for your skin and it also hurts. After I ve gotten in the shower, I wet my hair down, and then get a quarter sized amount of shampoo. From there, I lightly rub my hands together for five seconds; then, I gently scrub my scalp with shampoo covered hands. After I completely cover my entire scalp in the shampoo lather, I tilt my head forward and rinse the shampoo out of my hair. After the shampooing, I squeeze out a quarter sized amount of conditioner onto my hands. Then, I spread the conditioner evenly in both of my hands, and then lightly work the conditioner all over my scalp, like the shampoo. Although the label on conditioners say to leave it in for a few minutes, it doesn t make a difference, so once I ve applied the conditioner to my entire scalp, I tilt my head forward and rinse it out. Next, I grab the body wash bottle and squeeze out around a quarter sized amount and scrub the upper half of my body, and then I squeeze a little less than a ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
  • 51. The Battle On Terror And The War On Drugs In many ways, the war on terror and the war on drugs have merged. The type of red scare rhetoric from the McCarthy era became nearly interchangeable with the drug war and terrorism during the Reagan administration. We re in the middle of a major epidemic...Parents have a right to feel terror, said Donald Ian MacDonald, Reagan s top drug advisor. He was referring to drugs. Marlin Fitzwater, Reagan s Press Secretary openly admitted that everybody wants to out drug each other in terms of political rhetoric. This battle of hyperbole was waged on both sides of the political aisle. Even liberals like former Rep. Stephen Solarz (D NY) compared the danger from the cartels to intercontinental ballistic missiles and wondered why we treat (their) threat so lightly? Likewise, former Rep. Thomas F. Hartnett (R SC) declared that drugs were a national security threat...worse than any nuclear warfare or any chemical warfare waged on any battlefield. The two issues officially fused during the Reagan administration when the term narcoterrorism was coined and an effective propaganda tool was formed. The Reagan administration asserted that drug money from Latin America would be a source of funds to support insurgencies and subversion. This eased the way for the Reagan administration to amend the Posse Comitatus Act thereby allowing military involvement in the drug war. The Posse Comitatus Act was an act of Congress in 1878 which prohibited the government from using the ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
